Stand on Guard with David Krayden - TAKE 5： Decision day for Alberta. Down to the wire in Alberta： UCP 49% and NDP 48%. ｜ SOG Take 5

00:00:00.000 well welcome back to another take five on the creighton's right channel and this is i'm standing

00:00:06.800 on guard as always and guess what it's alberta election day and we have been watching this

00:00:15.040 election quite closely as it winds down today after four weeks a very angry debate

00:00:25.760 between premier danielle smith and the ndp opposition and i am very surprised it's close

00:00:34.880 i'm very very surprised it's close because i think daniel smith has offered a vision for alberta

00:00:41.440 that is one that other provinces should be emulating i think it's very important

00:00:48.000 you can't overemphasize the fact that she has offered alberta a new freedom

00:00:54.640 that other provinces simply haven't offered they they they have succumbed

00:01:02.560 to trudeau's pressure and authoritarian means they have relinquished provincial autonomy

00:01:07.760 and i think it's great that daniel smith has completely refused to do that and that is

00:01:15.520 certainly her strength so i'm surprised that she's not doing twice as good as she is

00:01:24.080 but that's because there's a very strong liberal media now in in alberta that wasn't there before

00:01:32.880 i have read stories from the calgary herald that at one time you would never imagine would have been

00:01:39.760 in that paper and i used to write for the calgary herald as did daniel smith and that's actually where

00:01:45.600 i first met her and had a lot of time and respect for her then and i do now but i think she is going

00:01:52.320 to win today should win today and is going to continue to be the foremost opponent of prime minister

00:02:02.720 justin trudeau and his authoritarian policies and his desire to create a new national energy program

00:02:11.520 through the green energy deal that he is enforcing

00:02:15.600 and alberta is one of the few provinces along with saskatchewan that is standing up against this

00:02:24.160 alberta is also standing up against justin trudeau's gun seizure and i think that's not going to happen

00:02:30.880 if daniel smith doesn't win this election today i was looking at some of the stories the last minute

00:02:38.560 reporting coming out about this this morning and the ndp is doing as well as they usually do in the

00:02:48.400 urban centers very well in edmonton and they're both neck and neck with the united conservative party

00:02:57.600 in calgary but in order for the ndp to win as any observer will tell you they need to really be

00:03:06.240 about 10 points ahead of the ucp and they're nowhere near that and they certainly are not going to be

00:03:16.000 making up that today the real it uh undecided here are the unknown is this early vote which i understand

00:03:26.880 is about 26 percent of those eligible voted early so that's a huge portion of the overall vote that's

00:03:35.920 already in it's impossible to know if that vote is going to go for the conservatives or the ndp

00:03:44.560 but certainly it doesn't look like there's any third party wiggle room here and it's going it's

00:03:50.720 basically this is a two-party battle but it's going to be a very tight finish unless of course the polls

00:03:58.320 are completely wrong again as they have been in the past because you might remember the ndp the last ndp

00:04:07.120 victory was not predicted by very many pollsters and it happened because the the conservative vote

00:04:15.680 collapsed and it was almost a revenge vote it turned out they got a very bitter result for that

00:04:23.600 it i don't believe this is going to happen this time and i think daniel smith stand on the on the

00:04:30.240 covet 19 mandates has been sterling and it's been a an example for other provinces other premiers

00:04:42.400 i think she's on the right direction with the alberta sovereignty act she's not fighting for independence

00:04:49.440 she's fighting for an alberta that is strong within canada but that retains its traditional autonomy

00:04:59.600 over things like natural resources which the federal government is always trying to take away

00:05:06.320 these are areas the federal government especially under this trudeau and the last trudeau tried to

00:05:11.120 encroach upon so i am i'm wishing all the best to premier daniel smith may she also be premier in the

00:05:20.240 weeks and months ahead and i think she's going to win this election today i think she's fought a good

00:05:25.920 campaign and it's been a difficult one because of an uphill battle against the media and against some

00:05:34.640 really scurrilous allegations that have been made against her but she's risen to the top and i think

00:05:42.160 she's going to win so i think it's important if you haven't voted and you see this message today

00:05:50.560 go and vote today because that is your god given right as a citizen of a free country exercise it please

00:05:58.400 we need to do that and another take five from stand on guard with david creighton signing out for today
