00:00:24.000 Hello and welcome to Stay Free with Russell Brand.
00:00:27.000 Wherever you are in the world, I hope that you are free and liberated and not tyrannized.
00:00:31.000 If you're not watching this on Rumble, come over and watch us on Rumble right now.
00:00:35.000 We've got some fantastic guests on the show today.
00:00:37.000 Joining me now is my guest, Michael Peters.
00:00:41.000 Michael is here to talk about his book, Beyond World Religions.
00:00:45.000 Here's a clip to help you conceptualize Michael Peters right now.
00:00:49.000 The gravity of owning reputation, owning possessions, owning anything.
00:00:54.000 If we let go of that, then he's able to fill us.
00:00:57.000 Take up your cross, deny your very self.
00:01:00.000 You know, these are concepts that just aren't normal for humans, for mammals.
00:01:05.000 I've had some pretty famous Christian authors fly into where I live to talk about this over the last 25 years, and they came up with circling up a bunch of trailers in a field in Minnesota and said, okay, now we'll have two cars and we'll share them.
00:01:21.000 We'll call that community, and all your money goes into one pot, and blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:01:26.000 Well, that's not God's plan.
00:01:28.000 Acts 2.
00:01:30.000 No one counted their possessions as their own was not socialism.
00:01:33.000 It was, I don't care anymore.
00:01:36.000 I don't care anymore.
00:01:37.000 I'm afraid.
00:01:39.000 We don't care anymore.
00:01:40.000 Please welcome Michael Piers.
00:01:50.000 Please take a seat.
00:01:51.000 Michael, you said that after we last met, you wrote this book.
00:01:56.000 And you said to some degree it was a response to our conversation.
00:01:59.000 Is that true?
00:01:59.000 Absolutely true.
00:02:02.000 Is that Mike on to me?
00:02:02.000 This is the red one.
00:02:03.000 The one on the ground.
00:02:04.000 This one's on?
00:02:05.000 Yeah.
00:02:06.000 Yeah.
00:02:07.000 So you said you wrote that book influenced by our conversation.
00:02:09.000 Is that true?
00:02:10.000 It's your fault.
00:02:11.000 It's my fault.
00:02:11.000 You get all the blame.
00:02:13.000 I'll take it.
00:02:13.000 Now, what in particular during our conversation did you focus on for this book, mate?
00:02:17.000 Well, there were a couple of things that kind of stood out that we didn't quite finish.
00:02:21.000 Like we discussed some of this in the green room, but some of what we talked about was how Jesus was cooking fish on the shore, and the guys that he'd walked around with for three and a half years said, Oh, that must be the Lord.
00:02:38.000 They didn't even recognize him.
00:02:40.000 And then they sat down with him and they said, You know, no one dared ask him who he was.
00:02:44.000 So the point that you brought up in our two hour conversation was that why did Jesus hide himself?
00:02:52.000 What was his point of hiding himself?
00:02:55.000 And that kind of segues into another part of our discussion is what about the Upanishad?
00:03:00.000 What about some amazing Hindus and Muslims and Buddhists and atheists that I've known?
00:03:05.000 How does that all work together?
00:03:08.000 And so that's kind of what this book is about.
00:03:10.000 It draws out of that well.
00:03:13.000 Because he is the life, the truth, and the way, and there is no way to the source but through him.
00:03:17.000 But I remember asking you last time, Michael, if we're talking about an ever present, eternal, ubiquitous, God, how likely is it that the hermeneutics of one particular geographical region are exhaustive?
00:03:30.000 In short, isn't it likely that God is present in other places and in other cultures?
00:03:34.000 One of my mates, sorry, it's weird, isn't it?
00:03:36.000 Because this is like a proper show, but I still use things like one of my mates says, anyway, one of my mates said that when the conquering Europeans that came to this land first encountered native people, there were tribes that had crucifixes and crosses.
00:03:52.000 Of course, the cross appears in many places, even down, right down in our Genomes and our genetics crosses can be found.
00:03:59.000 So, what is this, this Christ, this absolute Christ, this absolute King and Master?
00:04:07.000 In the beginning, he was God, he was with God.
00:04:11.000 How can we start to look at other religious traditions and their veracity?
00:04:16.000 Because, indeed, prior to his urgent return, we're going to have to learn a new type of hermeneutics and a new type of discourse because what we are being opposed by is significant and powerful.
00:04:31.000 True story.
00:04:34.000 It's one of the problems is solved by recognizing what Jesus said about himself.
00:04:40.000 No one else ever did that.
00:04:42.000 Buddha never did that.
00:04:43.000 You know, just go down the line of all the different leaders from a PhD Muslim.
00:04:50.000 What did Muhammad do?
00:04:51.000 He tried to defend the honor of Jesus.
00:04:53.000 That's why Muhammad said, I'm not coming back, but Jesus is coming back.
00:04:59.000 Whoa.
00:05:00.000 Muhammad said that.
00:05:02.000 The prophet Muhammad.
00:05:04.000 Defended Christ.
00:05:05.000 Absolutely.
00:05:06.000 That's very interesting.
00:05:07.000 Where in the Quran, I'm assuming that's Quran rather than Hadiths, where is that?
00:05:12.000 And what is it specifically, even if you can't, you know, I don't want to be on the spot with that, but can you tell me what that specifically, Muhammad defends Christ and the integrity and authenticity of Christ?
00:05:22.000 And said he was born of a virgin.
00:05:24.000 Who knew, right?
00:05:26.000 So there's, you know, the exact placement of that, I don't have that memorized, but I can connect you with the people who told me that they're PhDs.
00:05:33.000 You know, when it's on my mind because I guess I watched some content about it earlier, when he says, Before Abraham was, I am, and when Meister Eckhart says, The eye with which I see God is the eye with which God sees me, and when Brother Lawrence says, We practice his presence, and when St. Teresa says, There are interior castles, and when Enoch visits these sort of transcendent places in the Ethiopian Bible, early books of Enoch, there,
00:06:00.000 it seems to me that somehow within our Individual personal experience of consciousness, there is access to supernatural power and realms that are beyond what we would call ordinary sensory reality.
00:06:16.000 I think one of the mistakes that we have collectively made as humanity is we've tried to bottle, franchise, profit from control.
00:06:25.000 We put in intermediaries that are, I refer to it in the book as Grand Hypoobas, you know, people that really want to be the person in between us and God.
00:06:37.000 And what that lacks, and it shows up in all of the Christian world as well as the rest of the world, is kind of a Rosetta Stone way of looking at it, is that Jesus didn't come to start another world religion beyond worldreligions.com.
00:06:51.000 He didn't come to start another world religion, and none of the other religions even claim that they have anything like he had.
00:06:58.000 He said, You're a teacher of Israel and you don't understand, you must be born a second time.
00:07:02.000 Well, who else talks about that?
00:07:04.000 It's not some experience, some hallucinogen trip.
00:07:09.000 But you must be genetically changed.
00:07:11.000 You must be genetically changed.
00:07:13.000 Just as I came to a woman who was a mammal, a 15 year old little peasant girl named Mary, Miriam, and God put his seed in her, and she did not have a human second part.
00:07:27.000 Well, that's what Jesus was saying years later, 30 years later, to all of us.
00:07:31.000 You must be born a second time.
00:07:33.000 Heaven's DNA joined on earth as it is in heaven, and that not only the forgiveness of sin, but also this thing called eternity life.
00:07:42.000 Time, where there is no time, goes both directions.
00:07:45.000 Right?
00:07:46.000 You don't die and go to heaven per se.
00:07:48.000 That's cool.
00:07:50.000 You know, it seems that from the beginning there have been cultural appendages applied that are inaccurate.
00:08:01.000 Indeed, we only need to look at how much of his time he devoted to opposing Phariseeism, which I suppose there's going to be no perfect template, but that amounts to cultural authority and legalism.
00:08:18.000 And the sort of one might call it the institutional sovereignty of Judaism.
00:08:25.000 Now, like in Acts, which you've referred to already, and in Galatians, it's clear that Paul, in particular, helped navigate the difficult territory that comes when you say, This is that Messiah, this is Him.
00:08:41.000 Now, like, and of course, our Hebrew brothers and sisters and contemporary Jews, one might say, do not accept, of course.
00:08:50.000 Christ as the prophesied Messiah, they do not.
00:08:55.000 Though this cultural problem of Phariseeism is an ongoing one and might, I wonder, Michael, be yet reiterated in American church culture, also our own forms of Phariseeism, our own forms of legalism, our own, as you just said, attempts to bottle and merchandise Christ.
00:09:15.000 Because now that I've been in the game a little longer, two years of learning about him more directly and explicitly, I see that.
00:09:23.000 There is the cultural Christ that you get from the culture, which can be sort of derisory, reductive, superficial, obviously, to a degree, blasphemous.
00:09:31.000 Then there is the church Christ, which again, reductive.
00:09:35.000 So, to you know, like our tendency to make him in our image rather than the appropriate charge of that dynamic.
00:09:43.000 So, this work that you are doing, and like some other people that I know too, actually, in fact, they're the kind of guests that I like, are people that are focused on ensuring that nobody says, We own him and this is the only way to him.
00:10:01.000 How do we, I mean, now, I mean, but in a way, aren't you in a moment there?
00:10:03.000 So, almost while.
00:10:05.000 Offering a hand of friendship to all, you're making sort of enemies with everyone because you're sort of going to the Catholics, you're not doing it right, to the Protestants, you're not doing it right, to the Jews, to the Muslims, to the Buddhists, to the secularists.
00:10:14.000 There's like you're laying down a pretty serious gauntlet right there.
00:10:18.000 Yeah, it's a bigger gauntlet than a belief system, and that's a good thing, not a bad thing.
00:10:23.000 George Barna and a lot of the leaders of the Christian world have said 90% of the Christian church world does not have a Christian worldview.
00:10:32.000 They don't live it the other six days out of the week.
00:10:35.000 They attend something.
00:10:36.000 But to them, that means they're Christians.
00:10:38.000 Well, Paul said it to the Romans, he said it to the Galatians unless you have the faith of Abraham, you're not a son of Abraham.
00:10:45.000 And if you're not a son of Abraham, then you're none of his.
00:10:48.000 You don't have his spirit.
00:10:49.000 So if the line of demarcation is to be born a second time and have the spirit, and 90% don't have the faith of Abraham, they just don't care that much.
00:10:59.000 It's a cultural framework, it's a construct of we live in North America, so therefore we.
00:11:05.000 70% of Americans are Christians.
00:11:07.000 Jesus said, You taught in our streets.
00:11:09.000 You ate at our tables.
00:11:11.000 And he said, I never knew you.
00:11:12.000 Now, what does he mean by that?
00:11:14.000 Those are people that have a familiarity with his teaching, his doctrine, but they don't have the Holy Spirit, and therefore they're none of his, according to Paul.
00:11:22.000 So, the nature of Christianity and the rest of the world at that point is will you have the faith of Abraham?
00:11:29.000 Abraham was not a Jew, Abraham was a guy.
00:11:33.000 That's it, right?
00:11:35.000 That's his claim.
00:11:36.000 I'm a guy.
00:11:37.000 I'm a guy, right?
00:11:38.000 And that's what Jesus said to the apostles.
00:11:40.000 He said, These are the 12 apostles.
00:11:43.000 Whose names are written, you know, the foundation stones of the city, he said, You're all brothers.
00:11:50.000 Whoa, how's that possible?
00:11:52.000 No reverence, no pastors, no masters, no leaders, no rabbis, no fathers.
00:11:57.000 You're all brothers.
00:11:58.000 You have one, and that's me.
00:11:59.000 You're a bunch of pawns on my chessboard.
00:12:01.000 Now, when you don't have the Holy Spirit and a group of people that show up for a meeting, 90% of them may not even share his DNA, well, then you got a little problem on your hands.
00:12:12.000 But if, in fact, From the least to the greatest, they all know him.
00:12:16.000 I'll put my spirit in them and cause them to keep my commands and decrees.
00:12:20.000 They have the faith of Abraham.
00:12:22.000 If that's true, then that's what a real church or a real body is.
00:12:26.000 It's relational.
00:12:27.000 And that doesn't mean it's non existent or universal or invisible.
00:12:32.000 That's not what he meant.
00:12:33.000 There are 59 one another verses in the New Testament that disproves that idea.
00:12:37.000 Submit one to another, bear one another's burdens, confess your sins one to another, take up your cross daily and follow him together.
00:12:44.000 Christ in you, plural, the hope of glory.
00:12:47.000 You know, it's meant to be a connected relational body, not a building or a place.
00:12:52.000 You can't go to church, right?
00:12:54.000 Wycliffe and Tyndale got, you know, one of them, their bones burnt, and the other one got actually strangled and then burnt at the stake because they dared to translate the word ecclesia as a relationship, wherever you are.
00:13:09.000 And the powers that be wanted it to be a place.
00:13:12.000 They killed him because of that and about six other words that he translated that didn't work for them, it didn't propagate their system.
00:13:19.000 So.
00:13:21.000 They keep trying to replace eternity with permanence, but these are different concepts.
00:13:26.000 Eternity is ever moving, ever I aming, ever I aming, ever flowing, ever moving, impossible to contain or control, available only in the present because all else is conceptual and already within the framing, the separate tabernacle of sin, the separate, his counterfeit kingdom within the counterfeit kingdom of the Prince of the Air there.
00:13:51.000 I see, I want to say then, I want to say, mate, excuse me, Michael, I want to say that what I feel is.
00:14:01.000 When it like the 72 come back and you know, we cast out demons and we moved among you know, we were casting them out, they're all blown away.
00:14:10.000 The 72, many of them are going to clear off later and lose their bottle when it gets a bit tasty.
00:14:15.000 In fact, they all do, don't they?
00:14:16.000 When it gets proper on top, when it gets proper on top, when it gets like, oh no, people are coming, the government's here, oh no, no, the government's here, the government's come.
00:14:25.000 I don't know, I've never even met him, I don't know who he is.
00:14:27.000 I don't, I think I heard about someone with that name, but I'm not sure it was that.
00:14:32.000 Guy, though, yes, that's in well, I'll get back to you.
00:14:35.000 I'm going fishing, I'm out.
00:14:37.000 Um, like, uh, you know, when the 72 come back, and uh, he said, like, this thing I it was split my head was uh, uh, I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning because that's a reference to a reality that's um, beyond sort of human comprehension.
00:15:00.000 And Michael, I've been mean to ask you about this since I started thinking about it.
00:15:03.000 Part when in Luke we see the encounter, but no, maybe it's not Luke because that focuses more on Joseph.
00:15:11.000 The one where it focuses on Mary and Gabriel, like she's terrified.
00:15:16.000 I think phase one terrified, oh no, supernatural being.
00:15:19.000 I think phase two terrified, what do supernatural beings generally do when they come down and encounter women based on what we know from Genesis, based on what we know from Enoch, and what does he redeem and reverse a non carnal?
00:15:36.000 Non carnal creation, non carnal, non sexual inception.
00:15:42.000 So, what I suppose I'm saying is it's very hard for us to live in this celestial material, this celestial miracle, this celestial reality that's more powerful, more real than an orgasm, more real than a bag of chips, more real than an iPhone or whatever it is that you're using to somehow ameliorate the anguish of being separated from him.
00:16:07.000 More real than any of those things, but somehow only very delicately held.
00:16:15.000 And as soon as you try to make it about yourself, it's gone again, huh?
00:16:18.000 Right.
00:16:19.000 I know that wasn't a question, but I still need feedback.
00:16:22.000 That's fine.
00:16:23.000 I think it goes back to what I was mentioning earlier.
00:16:26.000 I mean, Darwin wasn't entirely wrong, right?
00:16:28.000 A bunch of mammals, right?
00:16:30.000 The Big Bang Theory, if you don't want accountability, you're going to lean into some of these definitions or descriptions, even if they don't have scientific background.
00:16:40.000 To the nth degree that you would expect out of something that we stake our whole life on.
00:16:45.000 But if it's required that we have the faith of Abraham and we have this man be king over us in order to be born a second time, to have the DNA from heaven come to live inside of us, remember he couldn't do anything until he was glorified, right?
00:16:59.000 I have to leave you that I can scale myself in all of you, right?
00:17:04.000 So the nature of being born a second time and having the DNA of God inside of us.
00:17:10.000 Solves a lot of those problems because we don't need the answers anymore.
00:17:12.000 Matthew 10 20, don't consider what to say or how to say it.
00:17:15.000 My father will speak through you.
00:17:17.000 Oh, wait a minute.
00:17:17.000 I have to study.
00:17:18.000 I have to get it off the internet.
00:17:19.000 I need AI to write it.
00:17:20.000 No.
00:17:21.000 If it's really God welling up from the inside, rivers of living water gushing from the abdomen, which is the Greek word, and I know you identify with that, that if that's really it, then that explains Barnett's problem with 90% of the attendance based world isn't even saved, and they think they are, so they're not even looking anymore, right?
00:17:41.000 But if it's heaven DNA, a second birth that defines my existence, then I will grow, and the spirit and the flesh wage war with one another.
00:17:49.000 I now have mammal DNA and God DNA, and there's a war going on.
00:17:54.000 So that's why Paul said, Who amongst you is tempted that I don't inwardly burn?
00:17:57.000 He said, I'll remove this thorn in the flesh, this messenger from Satan.
00:18:01.000 And God said, No, you need the humility to be able to identify with your brothers because you feel the pain too.
00:18:07.000 The spirit and the flesh wage war with one another.
00:18:10.000 So he wants to forgive our sins.
00:18:11.000 That's an easy one.
00:18:13.000 We all want to, quote, go to heaven.
00:18:15.000 That's an easy one.
00:18:16.000 But what he really wants to do is have a people and the sons of God manifest all of creation groans for a nation, a tribe, a people.
00:18:24.000 Of every tongue and tribe.
00:18:25.000 It keeps saying that in the New Testament.
00:18:27.000 It is not talking about a Sunday morning pew.
00:18:31.000 What does it look like in Dubai?
00:18:34.000 What does it look like in Bangladesh?
00:18:37.000 What does it look like in Malaysia or in Bolivia?
00:18:40.000 What does it look like in these places where God comes to dwell inside of a culture and a people and a race and it has nothing to do with a Sunday service per se, which isn't even a biblical concept.
00:18:52.000 I know that's offensive to a lot of people, but I've been in.
00:18:55.000 No, no, it's great.
00:18:57.000 I love that.
00:18:59.000 I'm with you, man.
00:18:59.000 I'm right there.
00:19:00.000 Because what you're describing, it sounds to me like, is freedom.
00:19:03.000 Like when we say freedom, we mean God.
00:19:05.000 We mean God.
00:19:07.000 But we keep appropriating, we keep bolting it onto, allowing it to metastasize into some sort of fallen thing.
00:19:15.000 Freedom to.
00:19:16.000 But like, you know, freedom to, like we think of it as like freedom, like the right to bear arms or to marry someone of the same sex or to whatever it is.
00:19:24.000 But in fact, the freedom is to be who you are in Him.
00:19:28.000 Now, this is a very difficult idea.
00:19:30.000 To capture with the constant distraction frequency, the loud carnival of bizarre demonic clown noise all around us everywhere, their relentless circus of salt and sugar,
00:19:46.000 their relentless circus of pornography and endless flesh, defibrillating us, charging us with false frequencies out of our state, contaminating the water, the crystal water of His eternal presence, with their simulacrums, with their synthetic systems.
00:20:02.000 And it kind of takes some serious gear, ain't it, mate, to oppose that stuff.
00:20:06.000 I mean, just keep looking at the early ones.
00:20:07.000 The early ones do get their heads cut off or stoned to death in the street or crucified upside down.
00:20:14.000 I mean, it's not much of a retirement package.
00:20:17.000 Yeah, but it's not a retirement package.
00:20:19.000 It is the butterfly breaking out of the cocoon.
00:20:23.000 Yeah, this can't be it, can it?
00:20:24.000 It don't feel right.
00:20:25.000 It's not it.
00:20:26.000 C.S. Lewis, he said, I like it when C.S. Lewis goes, and this is C.S. Lewis, who, like many of the people you're naming, is from England, like Tindale.
00:20:34.000 Like Wycliffe, England, right?
00:20:37.000 Now, do you all want to apologize and come back?
00:20:40.000 Jake's over there laughing.
00:20:42.000 He never leaves me alone with my.
00:20:46.000 Sometimes Jake makes me watch The Patriot, you know?
00:20:49.000 I don't like it.
00:20:50.000 Name small, miss small.
00:20:51.000 It's so encouraging.
00:20:52.000 The Green Dragoons are doing so well, and then they foolishly, as a result of Mel Gibson's brilliant guerrilla tactics, just take their eye off the ball.
00:21:01.000 Anyway, it's over now.
00:21:02.000 No more red coats for us.
00:21:04.000 But my point is.
00:21:09.000 What I said about the English there, C.S. Lewis.
00:21:10.000 Yeah, he says that there are like two of the clues that C.S. Lewis points to, and I like them because one of them is really puerile.
00:21:18.000 He goes, like the idea of God come down, God inhabit, this sort of spooky haunting of spirit in matter.
00:21:25.000 He goes, what are the clues?
00:21:26.000 What is the president?
00:21:27.000 Well, on one hand, he goes, there's this like death, our repugnance at death, even a kind of, but it will smell, Lord, kind of outside Lazarus's tomb.
00:21:37.000 That kind of death don't seem right, he says.
00:21:40.000 And then the other example he gives, I'm afraid to say it in front of you Christians, you like farts and hard ons.
00:21:46.000 You know, he's like, we laugh at bodily functions.
00:21:49.000 Says C.S. Lewis.
00:21:49.000 And the reason we laugh at bodily functions, there's something about it that's like.
00:21:54.000 And if you've ever taken a lot of acid, and I have, sometimes what happens is you sort of go, ah, what's.
00:22:01.000 I'm not this.
00:22:02.000 Like, you start to sort of feel that, what's going on?
00:22:05.000 I'm not this.
00:22:06.000 There's something else here that I am.
00:22:09.000 There's something else here that I am.
00:22:11.000 There's something else here that I amming.
00:22:13.000 Like, you know, that's why you're not supposed to, when you take powerful hallucinogens, stare in the mirror because you start going, Oh, wait.
00:22:20.000 I'm not.
00:22:21.000 Oh, no.
00:22:22.000 Oh, that's not it.
00:22:24.000 I'm not matter.
00:22:25.000 I'm not matter.
00:22:26.000 And even matter is not matter if you analyze it for long enough and deeply enough.
00:22:29.000 It starts to become some superstate of potentiality and has no definitive position.
00:22:34.000 I mean, it's like we're in a little village with local customs and we've mistook it for the world.
00:22:40.000 That's good.
00:22:42.000 What I mention a lot in this book, Beyond World Religion Stuff.
00:22:46.000 Which, by the way, I co wrote.
00:22:48.000 You did.
00:22:49.000 You provoked me.
00:22:50.000 You just write.
00:22:51.000 You provoked me.
00:22:52.000 You put a brand on the.
00:22:53.000 Provoked me.
00:22:53.000 Me to love and good works.
00:22:55.000 This is Beyond World Religions, Dry Bones Live.
00:22:58.000 Oh, yeah, that's cool, man.
00:22:59.000 Oh, yeah, that's one of the things I've been saying a lot.
00:23:01.000 I got it off Jamie Winship, so I must remember that not everything I think of comes from me.
00:23:05.000 Probably I only ever really credit people two or three times, then it's into the personal library of my narcissistic self regard.
00:23:15.000 But it's Jamie Winship that said the transfiguration, he reckon it be an example of a temporality and this kind of a spatial presence of.
00:23:25.000 God, that you are alluding to continually, there.
00:23:29.000 Like that, that's for, like that, that would have been a moment for Elijah, that would have been a moment for Moses, where they meet God.
00:23:35.000 But in one of the moments where they, on the top of mountains, meet God, the transfiguration is that moment outside of time and space.
00:23:42.000 And Peter, God love him, like, it's like, built tents or something.
00:23:47.000 Should we, should we, should we institutionalize this in some way?
00:23:51.000 Everyone get a lanyard.
00:23:52.000 What's your code?
00:23:53.000 Like, you know, like, sort of like, turn it into, and I'm not dissing St. Peter there, but like, you know, it's, uh, It cannot be, it's not place because place is an attempt to materialize, instantiate, and then institutionalize the very thing that never can be.
00:24:08.000 That's why the only authority can be his authority.
00:24:10.000 Outside of that, he removes limited liability from the category of neighbor and from the category of love and from the category of brother.
00:24:18.000 There is no limit on who is your neighbor, there is no limit on who is your brother, there is no limit on who we must love because the deepest truth is the eternity in him and his eternal family, isn't it, Michael?
00:24:29.000 That is right.
00:24:30.000 Yeah, the altar to the unknown god, the god shaped vacuum blaze Pascal.
00:24:35.000 We were talking about fluid dynamics in the hallway.
00:24:38.000 Well, I weren't there.
00:24:39.000 You keep saying that.
00:24:40.000 But I weren't in that conversation.
00:24:42.000 Unless I was in summer.
00:24:43.000 Summer with our buddy we did the GoFundMe for.
00:24:46.000 Oh, yeah, Nicholas.
00:24:47.000 You were talking to Nicholas about it.
00:24:49.000 Well, he would do that.
00:24:49.000 That guy, man, that wedding's getting more expensive by the moment.
00:24:52.000 I've never met anyone more ungrateful for a wedding than you.
00:24:56.000 What's going to happen if we run out of wine?
00:24:58.000 Don't come crying to me.
00:25:01.000 Yeah, so our hearts.
00:25:03.000 As humanity, from the first person ever born that ran to the tree of knowledge so they could be a God, Jesus came as the second Adam to bring us to the tree of life.
00:25:14.000 And that's what this is all about.
00:25:16.000 And it's not an insult of any group of believers.
00:25:20.000 It's nothing like that.
00:25:21.000 You're like this scripture.
00:25:22.000 I know there's always more.
00:25:23.000 We've got to wrap up, but first, Christy, will you do that bit?
00:25:25.000 Christy, come.
00:25:26.000 This is my friend Christy.
00:25:27.000 She's straight out of Bethlehem.
00:25:28.000 I'm going to write Christy's book, I think.
00:25:30.000 I've not asked her yet.
00:25:31.000 I should ask her.
00:25:33.000 Christy is from Bethlehem, and I think that when you write a book, I think it should be called Straight Out of Bethlehem.
00:25:39.000 Like NWA, you know?
00:25:41.000 Straight out of Compton.
00:25:42.000 Straight out of Bethlehem.
00:25:44.000 So, that's Christy.
00:25:45.000 This is my friend Michael.
00:25:46.000 That's Christy.
00:25:48.000 Will you please tell Michael what Adam means in that pictorial proto-Sionite, proto-Canonite language you keep going on about?
00:25:56.000 So it's God's entryway into chaos.
00:26:00.000 And basically, the whole point of what we were.
00:26:02.000 So when you read Paleo-Hebrew pictographs, usually it gives a.
00:26:07.000 Like you're watching TV from black and white to color.
00:26:10.000 And it gives more meaning and a sense of dynamic of who Abba is and why he's created things.
00:26:15.000 And as we discussed earlier, that this whole part of.
00:26:21.000 Like the space was referred to in the scriptures as mime, as water, which basically represents chaos.
00:26:30.000 And that's exactly the opposite of Abba's kingdom.
00:26:32.000 So if we step back and we read the storyline, I'm sure you know all of this, in terms of like that one third of Abba's kingdom had fallen, which means basically that there was chaos, which is the opposite of Abba's order.
00:26:47.000 And Abba was invading that space of chaos, which is mime, water.
00:26:51.000 With his agents, as you say, like Russell said, colonization, a form of colonization, into this basically, but reclaiming territories that was taken to chaos from order.
00:27:04.000 And that's what our mission is.
00:27:07.000 That's why people who believe, like, oh, when Jesus comes back, we're going to go up.
00:27:10.000 No, we're not going anywhere.
00:27:12.000 We're still working on this piece of earth to turn it into heaven.
00:27:16.000 It's pretty good, wouldn't it?
00:27:18.000 Straight out of Bethlehem.
00:27:19.000 That's my friend, Christy.
00:27:20.000 Anastas.
00:27:20.000 Is that how I say your last name, Christy?
00:27:23.000 Anastas.
00:27:23.000 I just thought I was saying it right.
00:27:25.000 Straight out of.
00:27:26.000 Straight out of Bethlehem.
00:27:27.000 I mean, that's so good, isn't it?
00:27:28.000 Like, where are you from?
00:27:29.000 Bethlehem.
00:27:30.000 I mean, that's good, isn't it?
00:27:31.000 It's a good.
00:27:32.000 But you're never going to be the most famous person from there.
00:27:34.000 That's the problem.
00:27:35.000 I'm from Grays.
00:27:36.000 I win.
00:27:38.000 Okay, so, hey, that's all we've got.
00:27:40.000 Thanks, Michael.
00:27:42.000 Michael's new book, written by me, is available.
00:27:44.000 Now, I've written my name there.
00:27:46.000 Click the link in the description to get your copy.
00:27:48.000 Michael, thank you.
00:27:49.000 It's always a joy to be with you.
00:27:51.000 Like, now.
00:27:51.000 We all know Jesus will return, but will it be before the end of the year?
00:27:55.000 Holly Market gives it a 1% chance.
00:27:57.000 Download the Polymarket app to bet on this and other real world events.
00:28:01.000 Bet on it all with Polymarket.
00:28:03.000 This is, where's that thing?
00:28:06.000 My friend is out there now.
00:28:07.000 His name is Nicholas, right?
00:28:11.000 There's Mertz, the cameraman.
00:28:12.000 You're right, you got me, Mertz.
00:28:14.000 What microphone will I use, Nicky?
00:28:15.000 You'll give it to me, will you?
00:28:17.000 Now, let me do this on this.
00:28:18.000 Oh, no, I'll do this on this.
00:28:20.000 I'll do it on this.
00:28:21.000 Hey, Nicky.
00:28:23.000 A round of applause for our beloved Nicky.
00:28:26.000 There she is.
00:28:27.000 That's Nicky.
00:28:29.000 All right, so look, I want you all of you to come with me on a journey.
00:28:33.000 Does this punch up?
00:28:34.000 Then they could see on that screen, because if Nicholas is around there.
00:28:37.000 I'm like, what a chat to Nicholas.
00:28:39.000 One time when I was here, Lee, I went out to.
00:28:41.000 All right, Sarah.
00:28:42.000 I went out to.
00:28:43.000 Actually, Gabe, you can come if you want.
00:28:44.000 Come, Gabe, you're like this.
00:28:45.000 You're like this.
00:28:45.000 Is that your son that's with you?
00:28:48.000 No.
00:28:48.000 Well, get your hands off him then.
00:28:52.000 This is my friend, Nicholas.
00:28:54.000 Do you remember when we first met?
00:28:56.000 Yes, sir.
00:28:57.000 Well, come stand next to me right here, right near.
00:29:00.000 Sorry to.
00:29:00.000 Manhandle you, but I've only got manhandles.
00:29:03.000 I couldn't womanhandle you.
00:29:04.000 Yes, sir.
00:29:04.000 I don't own one.
00:29:05.000 I could have used one of those.
00:29:06.000 I was in a service station recently in Florida and they have like a gator paw on a stick.
00:29:14.000 I could have used that, but I didn't buy it.
00:29:17.000 I think it's a back scratcher.
00:29:19.000 Do you know Gabe, by the way?
00:29:20.000 No, I have.
00:29:21.000 Good to meet you too.
00:29:22.000 That's Gabe.
00:29:23.000 So, mate, when you were doing the plumbing here before, what exactly were you doing?
00:29:29.000 I was clearing the drain underneath this HVAC system here.
00:29:33.000 And we had a little bit, yeah.
00:29:35.000 Is it working now?
00:29:36.000 Yes, it's definitely working.
00:29:37.000 Did you check it just then?
00:29:38.000 Yes, sir.
00:29:39.000 It's clear.
00:29:40.000 It's draining out.
00:29:41.000 It's backing up.
00:29:43.000 You're 100% confident?
00:29:44.000 Yes, I'm 100% confident.
00:29:45.000 Why does air conditioning break all the time?
00:29:47.000 It's always breaking.
00:29:48.000 Well, I mean, it's kind of hard.
00:29:50.000 There's many things.
00:29:51.000 It could be mechanical, it could be because of a leak, water damage.
00:29:56.000 It's always breaking when it's hot, mate.
00:29:57.000 I think it's rigged.
00:29:58.000 Now, me and Gabe have been talking about the system.
00:30:00.000 I think the air conditioning companies are rigging the system so that at the time when it's most hot, they break.
00:30:05.000 Don't you agree?
00:30:06.000 Oh, yeah, 100%.
00:30:06.000 Of course, huh?
00:30:07.000 Now, listen.
00:30:08.000 They're going to make their money somehow.
00:30:10.000 The whole thing's a racket, isn't it?
00:30:12.000 Yes, sir.
00:30:12.000 We've got to do something, Nicholas.
00:30:14.000 We've got to get.
00:30:15.000 Anyway, mate, you were talking to me that you were going to get married and that the reason you're not married is because you want to.
00:30:20.000 To raise some money to get married.
00:30:21.000 Now, unless that was some sort of filthy lie, was it?
00:30:24.000 No.
00:30:25.000 It was the truth?
00:30:26.000 Yeah, it's the truth.
00:30:26.000 I live paycheck to paycheck.
00:30:28.000 Paycheck to paycheck?
00:30:29.000 Yes, sir.
00:30:29.000 And meanwhile, all of us, every time that it goes up a degree or two, the air conditioning immediately breaks and you're still on the bread line, paycheck to paycheck.
00:30:38.000 Yes, sir.
00:30:38.000 Not the chuckling puppeteer of an air conditioning conspiracy that needs further investigation.
00:30:43.000 Yes, sir.
00:30:44.000 A good and innocent man.
00:30:46.000 You love the Lord?
00:30:47.000 Yes, sir.
00:30:48.000 So, listen, what we're wanting to do is, like, so is the only obstacle to you not being married?
00:30:53.000 The fact, because we talked about that last time we were chatting, I was like, well, why are you not married then?
00:30:56.000 Because you've already got two kids, don't you?
00:30:58.000 Yes, sir.
00:30:58.000 And you're not married?
00:30:59.000 No, sir.
00:31:00.000 You're living with your wife?
00:31:01.000 Yes, sir.
00:31:02.000 How many sins are you going to list?
00:31:04.000 First of all, we've had the air conditioning sin, right, where you're the racketeer.
00:31:07.000 Then there's these children, and there's this woman you're living in sin with.
00:31:11.000 What's next?
00:31:12.000 Murder?
00:31:13.000 Oh, no.
00:31:14.000 Murder me?
00:31:15.000 Stuff me in this thing?
00:31:16.000 I mean, I murder sewage, if that's what you're getting at.
00:31:19.000 So people can.
00:31:20.000 That better not be a euphemism, Nicholas.
00:31:22.000 When you say you're going to murder my sewage, that better not be a reference to the sewage that's still in my body.
00:31:27.000 Being murdered by an act of sinful intimacy.
00:31:30.000 Nah, no.
00:31:31.000 I took it too far.
00:31:32.000 I took it too far.
00:31:33.000 Thank God you're here.
00:31:34.000 That was too far.
00:31:35.000 That was a line crossed.
00:31:36.000 I thought you were here.
00:31:36.000 See, this is why I need you.
00:31:38.000 It's evident.
00:31:39.000 We've got to stay in this together.
00:31:41.000 Anyway, so you will get married.
00:31:42.000 So, what I thought would be really good is what's the name of the woman that you're going to marry?
00:31:46.000 Jasmine Burnham.
00:31:47.000 So, I wanted for us to be.
00:31:50.000 How much money does it take to.
00:31:51.000 Gabe, you know about things.
00:31:53.000 How much does it cost to marry a person, do you think?
00:31:55.000 Well, it doesn't cost a lot to marry the person, but.
00:31:58.000 An engagement ring certainly is going to cost something.
00:32:01.000 Have you got an engagement ring?
00:32:02.000 Yes, I got that done.
00:32:03.000 We don't need to worry about that.
00:32:04.000 That's the thing.
00:32:05.000 Then a wedding, I mean, we just need a minister and what?
00:32:09.000 Some flowers?
00:32:10.000 Yeah, but then.
00:32:10.000 Maybe a little reception?
00:32:13.000 Now, this happened last time, right?
00:32:15.000 I started talking to Nicholas about the wedding.
00:32:17.000 Frankly, his wish list kept expanding by the second.
00:32:20.000 He's like, oh, my wife's got a big family.
00:32:21.000 There's 80 of them.
00:32:22.000 My family's big.
00:32:24.000 Moderate, yes.
00:32:25.000 So, how many people were we talking for a wedding?
00:32:28.000 I mean, at minimum, 100.
00:32:30.000 It's very expensive.
00:32:31.000 And then what we've got to get catering.
00:32:33.000 Catering?
00:32:33.000 Which?
00:32:34.000 Go on.
00:32:35.000 You can do.
00:32:36.000 What's your preference?
00:32:37.000 What kind of food do you want?
00:32:39.000 Let's see, that's hard because I like a lot of food.
00:32:41.000 Oh, you're greedy.
00:32:42.000 You're a.
00:32:42.000 No, I'm not.
00:32:45.000 Listen, what I'm thinking, Nicholas, if we were able to generate.
00:32:48.000 I mean, look, if we started a simple GoFundMe page, a link for which could be on the bottom of the screen right now because we're playing this in the future.
00:32:56.000 We could raise, I don't know.
00:32:57.000 Don't you think that.
00:32:58.000 How much?
00:32:58.000 Do you think 20 grand is enough?
00:33:00.000 At minimum, yeah.
00:33:01.000 Minimum, I think you're messing with you.
00:33:04.000 I'm messing, but yeah, no, definitely that would be plenty.
00:33:07.000 If we can raise, if we where would you get married?
00:33:11.000 See, I haven't talked to my wife about that yet.
00:33:15.000 I've been so focused on working, making sure they're taken care of, making sure they have everything to enjoy life.
00:33:24.000 And ensuring that air conditioning units continually break.
00:33:29.000 Well, ACs, plumbing.
00:33:30.000 I mean, plumbing's important.
00:33:31.000 Yeah.
00:33:32.000 You're like Super Mario Brothers, but you're just one of you.
00:33:35.000 Yeah.
00:33:36.000 You're Luigi and Mario.
00:33:38.000 The American version, yes.
00:33:39.000 And you're American.
00:33:40.000 But basically, other than that, it's identical.
00:33:42.000 So if we could raise then.
00:33:44.000 20 grand, then we could pay for your wedding, we could, and then you would be married, and at least some of the, let's call it what it is, filthy sin in the world would have been reduced.
00:33:53.000 Yes, sir.
00:33:54.000 So why don't you, if you click this GoFundMe page, which you can see on the screen right now, we will fund Nicholas's wedding, and then I'm assuming, I mean, I'm in the UK right now, who knows, but hopefully I could be attending that wedding at some point.
00:34:08.000 Would you invite me?
00:34:09.000 You know what?
00:34:10.000 Most definitely.
00:34:11.000 I mean, I don't see why not.
00:34:12.000 Well, to tell you the truth, Nicholas, aren't we not?
00:34:14.000 Well, I think I've been pretty nice to you, yeah.
00:34:16.000 You've definitely been pretty nice to me.
00:34:18.000 And I hope I've been nice to you.
00:34:19.000 Well, you've been all right.
00:34:20.000 The thing is, Nicholas, if you didn't invite me to the wedding at this point, I think it would be frankly insulting.
00:34:27.000 No, I would agree.
00:34:28.000 So I would invite you to the wedding.
00:34:30.000 Which table am I going to be on?
00:34:31.000 Am I going to be on the table with popular people?
00:34:33.000 Are you going to put me on some peripheral table?
00:34:36.000 Oh, mate, you shouldn't even have to think.
00:34:38.000 You should be on the main table.
00:34:39.000 You made table.
00:34:40.000 Family table.
00:34:41.000 Family table, I think.
00:34:42.000 Family table.
00:34:44.000 For this, and you're kind of organizing how this is going to work.
00:34:47.000 So, I can't wait.
00:34:47.000 You're brilliant.
00:34:48.000 I'm so glad I brought you.
00:34:49.000 Listen.
00:34:50.000 You're right about that.
00:34:50.000 So, yeah, at the family table.
00:34:52.000 I'm sitting at the main table.
00:34:54.000 I'm conducting the ceremony.
00:34:55.000 Yes, sir.
00:34:57.000 Naked so that the system knows I've not been bowed.
00:35:02.000 All right, okay, then.
00:35:03.000 So, as soon as we've regenerated, we think 20 grand?
00:35:06.000 Yes, that is plenty.
00:35:08.000 So, please, if you can donate here, and in fact, I don't know, we will donate some money.
00:35:13.000 We'll donate some money, and then we'll get to 20 grand, and then Nicholas will marry his future wife, and then.
00:35:19.000 At least conquered a small corner of filthy sin.
00:35:23.000 The same way that every time you unblock a U bend, you're clearing away some of our filth.
00:35:27.000 Yep.
00:35:28.000 Yeah, exactly.
00:35:30.000 That's a perfect euphemism.
00:35:31.000 Sorry.
00:35:31.000 It's a good euphemism.
00:35:33.000 Good image system.
00:35:34.000 Yep.
00:35:35.000 And is plumbing really just like doing Lego with water in it, like the clip described?
00:35:41.000 Yes and no.
00:35:42.000 Because, I mean, like water lines, they're under pressure.
00:35:45.000 That's like Lego.
00:35:46.000 You just put it together, go.
00:35:48.000 Drain systems, you got to count gravity.
00:35:49.000 So you got to.
00:35:51.000 You have to have the pipe fall in order for that waste to go somewhere.
00:35:54.000 Otherwise, it's going to be coming back in your house.
00:35:57.000 When we set up our own communities and systems that are fully independent, energy independent, and food independent, we're going to need good plumbing, aren't we?
00:36:04.000 Yes.
00:36:05.000 Yes.
00:36:05.000 It's absolutely non negotiable.
00:36:07.000 It's absolutely non negotiable.
00:36:08.000 Without it, it's going to be a nightmare, to put it simply.
00:36:12.000 It's going to be simply an expensive nightmare.
00:36:14.000 Mind you, I've noticed with you, whether it's weddings or utopian communities, I think that you work on a high margin and trying to, I think you're.
00:36:22.000 Trying to drum up some extra money for yourself.
00:36:24.000 That's what I think.
00:36:25.000 I mean, would that be so wrong of me?
00:36:27.000 Who would it be?
00:36:28.000 There are worse things going on in the world.
00:36:30.000 Also, do you know what I one time found in a community I went to in India?
00:36:35.000 They used all of their sewage for fertilizing crops.
00:36:40.000 Can you envisage that mentally in your mind, Nicholas?
00:36:42.000 Actually, yes, I can.
00:36:44.000 I have never seen it myself, obviously, but I have heard of such situations happening in countries of that nature.
00:36:51.000 All right, Nicholas.
00:36:52.000 So, not only are we going to fund your wedding, and I'll be sitting, as you know, between you and your wife.
00:36:57.000 During the ceremony and in the dinner.
00:36:59.000 We've agreed that now.
00:37:00.000 That's agreed.
00:37:00.000 That's part of the system.
00:37:02.000 Gabe will be there.
00:37:02.000 You can invite Gabe.
00:37:03.000 Yeah, why not?
00:37:04.000 I mean, it's going to cost a fortune, this thing.
00:37:07.000 Anyway, so if you can donate to Gabe's already married, to Nicholas' wedding, yeah, it's all self.
00:37:15.000 We're not going back to that.
00:37:16.000 Although you do annoy your wife a lot of the time with eating the ice cream in the dead of night.
00:37:20.000 A lot of people have had enough of that.
00:37:22.000 So as long as we can preserve Gabe's marriage, that's done.
00:37:25.000 But Nicholas' marriage, we're going to pay for.
00:37:27.000 So please donate here.
00:37:28.000 And thanks very much.
00:37:28.000 A round of applause for Nicholas, everyone.
00:37:32.000 Brilliant.

00:38:42.000 Now, me and my wife, we do a podcast where I sit on every Sunday.
00:38:45.000 It's called Sunday Service.
00:38:46.000 Here it is now.
00:38:47.000 Have a look.
00:38:56.000 By the time you've gone through whatever institutions, academic and social, that lands you in the position of a journalist, you already think what they need you to think.
00:39:05.000 Otherwise, you're filtered out.
00:39:07.000 For some of us, this process began at school when you're first expelled and thrown out of schools.
00:39:11.000 That's when you first recognize you're not a person that's going to be in keeping with the institution.
00:39:15.000 Or you might be a military veteran who went into the army because you nobly and bravely believe in defending your nation and its inhabitants.
00:39:23.000 And then after having served a few tours in Afghanistan, Iraq, Northern Ireland, whatever, you realize, wait a minute.
00:39:30.000 I'm actually serving the interests of powerful institutions that use as a guise, you know, look after the vulnerable, but is in fact serving the interests of the powerful.
00:39:40.000 So the people that are in the throng, the paparazzi and the various journalists, right?
00:39:45.000 It's like a CIA sting.
00:39:47.000 I'm not suggesting this is a CIA sting, but in a CIA sting, there are so many participants that it becomes such a diffuse operation.
00:39:56.000 Yeah, or equally, we could go back to the Truman Show idea.
00:39:59.000 Oh.
00:40:00.000 It's that, you know, actually, when there are reports, Porters and things.
00:40:03.000 And then when you open a door, it just drops to a backstage area and everyone's having their makeup done.
00:40:08.000 Like you go through the wrong door and the elevator opens.
00:40:10.000 Actually, it's an elevator.
00:40:11.000 And the elevator has no shaft, it's just people behind it.
00:40:14.000 Well, from that perspective, though, that's deliberate conspiracy, isn't it?
00:40:18.000 Yes.
00:40:18.000 Right.
00:40:18.000 What Truman Show is describing is these participants knowingly are deceiving Truman.
00:40:25.000 Yeah.
00:40:25.000 Each of them, presumably under the auspices of there's nothing wrong with it, but they are deliberately.
00:40:31.000 What Chomsky is saying is.
00:40:32.000 It would be like the actors in the Truman Show also believing that they, yeah.
00:40:36.000 I mean, it's funny, we do keep coming back to these points, and I think that probably the reason this relates to, I think it's very easy to feel jolted in the world, jolted out of whatever, you know, like if you're, for example, what, you know, why do we keep talking about these different realities?
00:40:55.000 Because you talk a lot about that, you know, you talk a lot about the deeper.
00:41:00.000 I do, but tell me what you think.
00:41:01.000 What I mean by it is that, you know, a couple of weeks now, at least, we've talked about the feeling of, When you're living your life and things don't feel, things go weird, like things don't feel real.
00:41:14.000 And ultimately, that does bring us back to the point about God because, you know, when I, for a moment in the sort of silence walking out of the court the other day, thought, oh my, I'm surprised at how sort of silent this is.
00:41:28.000 It's making me feel nervous that it's not loud.
00:41:31.000 So I suppose you've been in paparazzi positions.
00:41:33.000 I've been in those environments before and I've never liked it when it's shouty eager, to be honest.
00:41:38.000 I don't like it.
00:41:38.000 You would have gone to a lot of events with your father, who's a Prominent and excellent source.
00:41:41.000 They're more so probably more like my sister.
00:41:43.000 Your sister, who's a successful broadcaster.
00:41:45.000 Yes.
00:41:46.000 And I've had the experience.
00:41:47.000 And of course, your litany of famous former boyfriends.
00:41:50.000 No, no.
00:41:52.000 So, that is not true.
00:41:55.000 Stars, the stage, and screen.
00:41:57.000 No.
00:41:59.000 And field.
00:42:00.000 No.
00:42:00.000 Okay.
00:42:02.000 Moving swiftly on.
00:42:04.000 What's your point?
00:42:05.000 My point is this I know that the calmness could be jarring.
00:42:13.000 And it could be weird and it could feel like eerie, or the calmness can feel exactly what it is meant to feel, which is calm and still and sort of holy.
00:42:25.000 That's what I'm trying to say.
00:42:26.000 When you walked slowly into court that first time, you said you took it slowly and you felt God with you walking every step, didn't you?
00:42:36.000 Yeah, by God's grace, something like never more than in the concentrated times of these challenges and trials have I. More felt the presence of God in the intensive care unit by our son in the midst of allegations, walking into court.
00:42:52.000 I felt so close to God, so close.
00:42:56.000 Remember, we mention it every week: conform not to the patterns of this world, for they are merely patterns.
00:43:02.000 I'm adding that to Paul's great letter to the Romans.
00:43:04.000 Conform not to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
00:43:09.000 This world has a pattern.
00:43:10.000 As it says here in 1 John, John's first epistle: do not love the world or anything in the world.
00:43:15.000 If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
00:43:20.000 If the word Father is hard for you, consider the word source.
00:43:24.000 For everything in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life comes not from the Father, but from the world.
00:43:32.000 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
00:43:37.000 We're looking, of course, to participate in eternity, not to deify the conditions here.
00:43:44.000 Check this out from the same letter We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
00:43:55.000 I mean, like before I became Christian, I did not know that that was the Christian position.
00:44:00.000 I'm a Christian.
00:44:01.000 Oh, good.
00:44:02.000 That means your position is this.
00:44:04.000 We know that we're the children of God and that the whole world, not nasty countries with swastikas or different colored skin or eye shaped, the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
00:44:19.000 We know also that the Son of God has come and given us understanding so that we may know him who is true.
00:44:27.000 And we are in him who is true by being in his son, Jesus Christ.
00:44:31.000 He is the true God and eternal life.
00:44:33.000 Dear children, keep yourself from idols.
00:44:35.000 Precisely and specifically, he is saying the world is in control of evil, and the way into that is idolatry to worship something other than God.
00:44:45.000 Elsewhere, here, this is also from slightly earlier in Romans God did by sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh.
00:44:58.000 To be a sin offering, and so he condemned sin in the flesh in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us who do not live according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
00:45:09.000 Those who live according to the flesh have their mindset on what the flesh desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their mindset on what the Spirit desires.
00:45:16.000 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
00:45:23.000 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God, it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
00:45:30.000 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
00:45:33.000 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh, but are in the realm of the spirit, if indeed the spirit of God lives in you.
00:45:43.000 Realms, you know, we'll go back to your never ending Truman Show fixation.
00:45:50.000 The realm of the Truman Show is an artificial construct that exists in order to trap, for the purposes of that film, a kind of a new Adam that you can see out there, Ed Harris, the overlord of that universe, regards himself as the sort. Creator of Truman, and in fact, in a macabre way, loves him.
00:46:11.000 A bit like in that film, How Mary.
00:46:13.000 Oh, yeah.
00:46:14.000 Where you see the beautiful Ryan Goslin reach to that alien creature.
00:46:20.000 There is a sense that beyond some sort of diaphanous, difficult to detect membrane, there is another reality permanently accessible.
00:46:28.000 The alternative is this is all of reality.
00:46:30.000 But I'm just watching a video now about, by sort of, I think he's a physicist, theoretical physicist, Framan is his last name at least.
00:46:39.000 Saying that our whole understanding of the behavior of light is erroneous.
00:46:44.000 Light is not sort of bouncing about or even really traveling.
00:46:48.000 And in a sense, that makes sense because if you, when the measurement that light travels at 187 million miles per second, I mean, what am I supposed to do with that?
00:47:01.000 I know.
00:47:02.000 I mean, can you imagine five people in your head?
00:47:05.000 Can you imagine 10?
00:47:06.000 Can you imagine 20 people?
00:47:08.000 Can you imagine 50?
00:47:09.000 I bet it's like, are you sure it's 50 and not 30?
00:47:12.000 Can you imagine 100?
00:47:13.000 Can you imagine 200?
00:47:14.000 Right?
00:47:15.000 Like, figure out like the limitation.
00:47:16.000 It's actually very hard.
00:47:18.000 How to conceptualize vast numbers.
00:47:21.000 We're not designed for that.
00:47:22.000 We're designed to live in communities of mutual dependency on our Lord God and one another.
00:47:30.000 We have been coaxed into a false reality, like the Truman Show, as Laura Brand would tell you every 10 seconds if she had the chance.
00:47:38.000 But the way I see it is that the accuser casts a net, as it says in so many of the Psalms.
00:47:43.000 He gives you a false identity, a false name.
00:47:45.000 He plants doubt in you.
00:47:47.000 He makes you doubt who you are and what you do and what you've done and what you believe.
00:47:51.000 And Jesus Christ says, I'm here for you whenever you want.
00:47:54.000 And I love you.
00:47:55.000 I've always loved you.
00:47:56.000 Come back, come back.
00:47:57.000 Which is, as Frank Skinner, the British comedian, tells an amazing story about after lapsing as a Catholic during his time of fame and revelry, et cetera.
00:48:04.000 We all know that story.
00:48:06.000 He said that he went, he was sort of called back to the church by something killing him.
00:48:10.000 And the day that he went to the church to sort of consult his priest, I guess, that priest was off duty.
00:48:17.000 And it was some like old guy.
00:48:19.000 And in my mind, I imagine some like Father Ted style, like imported Jack.
00:48:24.000 Yeah.
00:48:25.000 Drink, sick, him.
00:48:27.000 Yeah.
00:48:27.000 But he wasn't, that's not the character, but just older priest, you know.
00:48:30.000 And like Frank Skinner, a very brilliant and erudite British comedian, articulately described his sort of challenges with the catechism, et cetera.
00:48:40.000 Is it catechism or catechism?
00:48:41.000 You won't know, will you?
00:48:42.000 Catechism, I thought.
00:48:43.000 Did I say it right?
00:48:44.000 Oh, when I hear people saying it, it's catechism.
00:48:45.000 That's what they're saying.
00:48:47.000 Yeah.
00:48:47.000 Anyway, like, and all these complexity of the challenges the Roman Catholic Church or the Holy Church, the Universal Church, have been going through at that time.
00:48:57.000 And like, oh, and was all being reasoned and trying to understand it, expecting a comparable and perhaps Aquinas like argument from the priest.
00:49:05.000 And the priest just went, come back, come back.
00:49:10.000 I think it's not really, yeah, it's not intellectual.
00:49:12.000 Yeah, no, it's not.
00:49:13.000 I'm afraid it's going to do that.
00:49:14.000 We go back to the church.
00:49:15.000 And what I like about it, I suppose.
00:49:17.000 So, stop being silly.
00:49:18.000 Come on.
00:49:19.000 Come on.
00:49:20.000 Like when you're little.
00:49:20.000 Come on.
00:49:21.000 Come on.
00:49:21.000 It's all right.
00:49:22.000 That's why I need that a lot.
00:49:23.000 I know.
00:49:24.000 It's okay.
00:49:25.000 Like, what do you mean you know?
00:49:26.000 No, I hold that down.
00:49:27.000 I'm stoic.
00:49:28.000 I'm a bit like Clint Eastwood.
00:49:32.000 I do know you do need that.
00:49:34.000 Do I?
00:49:34.000 You do.
00:49:34.000 How do you know that?
00:49:36.000 How do I know that you need to be told that it's okay and that it's like, come on, let's go?
00:49:41.000 Right, it's time to eat now.
00:49:45.000 Look, let's unpack this position you're taking.
00:49:48.000 Like I'm like some codger, a codger, a geezer.
00:49:51.000 Just sometimes.
00:49:53.000 Am I in a wicker wheelchair with a blanket over my legs?
00:49:56.000 Yeah, you are.
00:49:57.000 I'm in a wicker wheelchair with a blanket over my legs.
00:49:58.000 That's right.
00:49:59.000 That's what it feels like.
00:50:00.000 No, not at all.
00:50:01.000 You know what you're like.
00:50:03.000 Like the way that you know that I need, if I've cooked a meal, I like you to acknowledge the meal.
00:50:09.000 That's what's like, yeah, that could sound like I'm a bit of a problem.
00:50:12.000 I mean, that's the minimum.
00:50:12.000 I mean, that's basic manners, isn't it?
00:50:14.000 Yeah, it's basic manners.
00:50:15.000 Acknowledge it.
00:50:17.000 I praise it like.
00:50:18.000 You do praise it.
00:50:19.000 You praise it.
00:50:20.000 You praise it so much.
00:50:21.000 To the rafters.
00:50:22.000 It puts other people at the table to shame for not even mentioning it.
00:50:27.000 Yeah, no, you're very good at that.
00:50:28.000 You like a compliment, didn't you?
00:50:29.000 You like a bit of gratitude because you've done a favor.
00:50:31.000 I like a bit of gratitude.
00:50:32.000 For sure.
00:50:32.000 Yes, I do.
00:50:33.000 I do.
00:50:34.000 And I'm trying not to need it so much.
00:50:36.000 I think it's good because.
00:50:37.000 Do you know that thing going back to that idea of, you know, it's better just to do things and not expect, you know, do it and don't expect that anything in return?
00:50:45.000 And like, you want reliance on God, don't it?
00:50:47.000 Reliance on God.
00:50:48.000 Yeah, reliance on God.
00:50:49.000 That's what I want.
00:50:49.000 Nothing else.
00:50:50.000 It doesn't matter if someone says thank you.
00:50:52.000 I know some people that are like that, that they're holding.
00:50:54.000 I know.
00:50:55.000 We do.
00:50:55.000 We do know people like that.
00:50:57.000 We've got to become more like them, lol.
00:50:59.000 You know, like rely on God.
00:51:00.000 God, we get everything from the Lord.
00:51:02.000 We don't get things like, oh, I hope this person's going to like me and say nice things about me.
00:51:17.000 Thank you very much for joining me today for Stay Free with Russell Brand.
