00:00:04.000 Welcome to Sunday service with the Brands.
00:00:16.000 Hello and welcome to Sunday Service with the brand.
00:00:19.000 I'm Russell.
00:00:20.000 This is Laura.
00:00:21.000 Hello.
00:00:21.000 We're, of course, in the middle of a very, very unusual time in our marriage.
00:00:26.000 And for legal reasons, which you'll be aware of if you follow what I would call old media, traditional media, at some point I would call it corrupt media, hypocritical media, deceptive empire media.
00:00:38.000 Empire media, that's the term.
00:00:40.000 If you follow empire media, you'll be aware that, of course, we as a family and me in particular, in a situation that requires the Authenticity and authority of true justice.
00:00:51.000 And for that reason, we'll be extremely cautious in any way that we refer to the events in the trial so that truth and justice serve for everyone involved and everyone involved deserves it.
00:01:01.000 This is our cat Jericho.
00:01:03.000 Yes, this is my spirit.
00:01:07.000 Tell us, how did you come to have this cat Jericho?
00:01:12.000 Answer the question.
00:01:13.000 Did I inherit her from my ex boyfriend? 0.99
00:01:16.000 I actually demanded her. 1.00
00:01:18.000 Demanded her?
00:01:19.000 Yes.
00:01:20.000 Yeah, I did.
00:01:22.000 Because I didn't, I just felt that I loved this cat too much.
00:01:26.000 And, you know, that was what was decided.
00:01:32.000 And thank goodness for that.
00:01:33.000 She's been one of the great joys of my life.
00:01:36.000 Yeah, I agree.
00:01:37.000 I agree.
00:01:37.000 I love her so much.
00:01:39.000 Amazing the intimacy we can have with animals.
00:01:40.000 And as we've shared before this show, my journey to our Lord, our King, our Saviour, our Healer has been so much connected to our dog bear.
00:01:51.000 Yeah.
00:01:51.000 Almost instinctive for me to say, God, rest your soul.
00:01:54.000 But theologians are clear on that.
00:01:56.000 Although C.S. Lewis said we might be as Christ to our pets.
00:01:59.000 But in my case, my pet was as Christ to me.
00:02:01.000 Talk about that a little bit more.
00:02:03.000 Should we start off a little prayer, Lord?
00:02:04.000 Yeah, let's start with it.
00:02:05.000 Oh, God, please help me in this moment not to do anything that's like about showing off or trying to make myself feel better or anything that's clumsy.
00:02:12.000 Or please guard my mouth and guard my lips, Heavenly Father and Lord, so that I'm just useful to you, that I honor your name, that I'm of service, that I'm a cheerful Christian.
00:02:23.000 Cheerfully accepting trials and present for you, Lord, that I would do nothing to dishonor your holy and gracious name.
00:02:30.000 Please, God, look after my beloved wife, Laura.
00:02:32.000 I thank you for her.
00:02:33.000 And the people watching this will be aware of their own lives and their own challenges, things that go beyond media and fame and into the reality and the suffering that ordinary people are destined to endure unless they're able to turn away from worldliness and to your eternal light, the only salvation, the only justice, the only healing, and the only love.
00:02:54.000 That we can ever do comes from you, Jesus Christ, fountain of every blessing.
00:02:58.000 Amen.
00:02:59.000 Amen.
00:03:01.000 How was your week?
00:03:02.000 There have been a lot of outfits.
00:03:06.000 I mean, let's focus on that.
00:03:07.000 Surely we can focus.
00:03:08.000 I think if it's in the normal media domain, we're able to cover it.
00:03:11.000 You've been, you've looked absolutely beautiful and spectacular.
00:03:15.000 That's so kind.
00:03:16.000 You've looked wonderful too.
00:03:17.000 Have I?
00:03:17.000 Yeah.
00:03:18.000 And actually, we got a very sweet message from someone last night that was like, you know, you're really showing up there.
00:03:23.000 You're really smart, the two of you.
00:03:25.000 You know, SCC.
00:03:27.000 I got some criticisms for not having the show.
00:03:29.000 I'm even now trying to do up.
00:03:31.000 Are you getting these criticisms from inside the court or are they speculative?
00:03:35.000 I've had a lot of comments in the last few weeks.
00:03:38.000 Yeah, but the worst of all the things I've had said to me or about me this week was do your shirt up.
00:03:46.000 And what's amazing, and perhaps you'll already know this, but on Sunday, the very same Crown Court will be hosting Tony Robinson.
00:03:55.000 Monday, did I say Sunday?
00:03:55.000 Yeah, you did.
00:03:56.000 But didn't I say you're watching this on Sunday?
00:03:58.000 Oh, maybe you did.
00:03:59.000 Sorry.
00:04:00.000 I'm a pro.
00:04:00.000 Okay.
00:04:01.000 I think you're fine.
00:04:01.000 Watch the transcripts back.
00:04:05.000 What's amazing, and perhaps you'll already know this, but on Sunday, the very same Crown Court will be hosting Tommy Robinson.
00:04:13.000 Tomorrow?
00:04:15.000 Yeah, if it's Sunday.
00:04:18.000 Tommy Robinson, the infamous British activist and journalist, will be appearing at Southwark Crown Court.
00:04:26.000 So there's going to be enormous interest and enormous crowds.
00:04:29.000 You know what it's like.
00:04:29.000 You've seen it on you, surely.
00:04:30.000 They're Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, Tommy Robinson.
00:04:33.000 Now, I do feel that me personally, having met Tommy Robinson, I must say I enjoy him.
00:04:39.000 I enjoy his passion.
00:04:40.000 I admire his bravery, his tenacity.
00:04:43.000 And all of us, I suppose, have different parts to.
00:04:44.000 Play in whatever is happening in our world now.
00:04:46.000 And one, of course, continues to pray for this, a thing that's for good.
00:04:49.000 Yeah.
00:04:50.000 My focus will always be on how can we, as Jesus Christ said, love one another, love one another.
00:04:57.000 That's my role.
00:04:57.000 I'm not making a comment on Tommy Robinson because I know other than we know that we're going to turn up and it's going to be insane.
00:05:05.000 We have been warned that it's going to be very, very busy.
00:05:09.000 Oh, you've been warned that it's busy, but I know because of my long interest in Tommy Robinson, which precedes most people.
00:05:16.000 I don't want to sound all I was into Radiohead before you've even heard of it.
00:05:20.000 I was into the protest before you were at Solomon Crown Court.
00:05:23.000 I've actually been into Jesus for a lot longer than anyone else.
00:05:27.000 No, no, we were told, weren't we advised, Justin, as much as that it's.
00:05:31.000 In a court capacity, they did say that.
00:05:34.000 But anyone who knows Tommy Robinson knows that Tommy Robinson going to court is an event.
00:05:38.000 It's going to be interesting.
00:05:40.000 Yes.
00:05:41.000 I mean, I already get nervous driving around the corner as soon as you see the name of the street.
00:05:46.000 I get Battlebridge Road, SE1.
00:05:49.000 Battlebridge Road.
00:05:50.000 On Battlebridge Road, you don your armour.
00:05:52.000 That's what I feel.
00:05:54.000 That's when you think.
00:05:54.000 That's great.
00:05:55.000 Yeah.
00:05:56.000 So as soon as I see, when you're coming around the corner, you see the name on the street, I immediately start to think, okay, this is it now.
00:06:03.000 This is it, right?
00:06:05.000 Get into shape, get into your strength.
00:06:08.000 And then so tomorrow, it's going to be interesting because there's going to be a lot of police presence and there's going to be a lot of people and a lot of protesters, I think.
00:06:18.000 Is what it's going to be.
00:06:19.000 Well, check out this, my darling.
00:06:21.000 Go on.
00:06:22.000 No, I don't know more at all.
00:06:23.000 I think it'll be interesting.
00:06:25.000 You're doing incredibly well in this entire process.
00:06:28.000 Therefore, so Ephesians chapter 6, 13.
00:06:32.000 Therefore, and this is, I think, advice for all of us that feel like we're in the midst of spiritual warfare or battle.
00:06:39.000 Therefore, put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.
00:06:46.000 And after you've done everything to stand, Stand firm, then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
00:07:00.000 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
00:07:07.000 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
00:07:12.000 I love it.
00:07:14.000 I love it because this armor, I think I had someone, perhaps our dear beloved friend J. John.
00:07:20.000 Tilby Fruit, yes, it was.
00:07:21.000 The helmet of salvation, that's stopping your mind go crazy.
00:07:24.000 Too much thinking, too much self obsession.
00:07:27.000 The gateway into sin is self.
00:07:29.000 When you think yourself and your own feelings and preferences as a kind of personal religion, which the culture is very adept at making us do, you are trapped, therefore, in sin.
00:07:38.000 You put the helmet of salvation on, it helps you with your thoughts.
00:07:41.000 Then I like that, and as Jayden explained to me, the breastplate of righteousness.
00:07:44.000 No, you can't get that for yourself.
00:07:46.000 That's given to you by grace.
00:07:48.000 And I remember that sometimes whilst in court, not wishing to talk about the particularities of the trial as I sit in that.
00:07:53.000 Aquarium dock, I think I didn't give myself my life.
00:07:58.000 My life doesn't belong to me.
00:07:59.000 I don't own the breath in my lungs.
00:08:02.000 I didn't invent the English language.
00:08:04.000 I didn't get everything.
00:08:05.000 Everything has been given to me.
00:08:07.000 It belongs to you, Lord.
00:08:08.000 It belongs to you, God.
00:08:09.000 In a situation like I'm in, it's impossible not to turn to God, truth, and justice.
00:08:15.000 And in fact, those ideas don't become less important, they become more important.
00:08:18.000 You're not in a situation where you think, I hope I can evade truth and justice.
00:08:22.000 You're in a position where you say, Truth and justice are the only things that can save me.
00:08:26.000 And I believe in you, God.
00:08:27.000 I believe in your truth and justice.
00:08:30.000 Then I like the idea of law that the shield puts out, this is, you know, the flaming arrows of the evil one.
00:08:37.000 Yeah.
00:08:37.000 I mean, rather fantastic.
00:08:38.000 That's amazing.
00:08:39.000 You feel like they're there.
00:08:40.000 The shield of faith.
00:08:42.000 We've got the old helmet on, the good news on our feet.
00:08:45.000 That's just to tell people.
00:08:46.000 Spread the word.
00:08:48.000 Yeah, spread the word.
00:08:49.000 Yeah.
00:08:49.000 Like, because you know, when people say, Have you heard the good news?
00:08:52.000 Have you heard the good news about Jesus?
00:08:53.000 Yeah.
00:08:54.000 That was the old thing people would say in the street, right?
00:08:57.000 Have you heard it?
00:08:58.000 Yeah.
00:08:58.000 That's what I say.
00:08:59.000 That's old evangelism.
00:09:00.000 Your tops come in a little bit under.
00:09:01.000 Oh, gosh. 1.00
00:09:01.000 That's the. 1.00
00:09:02.000 Not too much, only from my angle.
00:09:03.000 Do you know what that is?
00:09:05.000 That's the weight of the mic.
00:09:06.000 Given that we're married, I think it's safe to say, even under present circumstances, I enjoyed the view.
00:09:12.000 Oh, yeah.
00:09:13.000 It's not too pertinent to say so.
00:09:14.000 I'll take the compliment.
00:09:16.000 I don't want to come across as a flirt.
00:09:19.000 Thank you very much.
00:09:20.000 I'm very glad you told me.
00:09:21.000 Thank you.
00:09:21.000 That's the way of the microwave.
00:09:22.000 You're banging in them suits, by the way, baby.
00:09:24.000 Thank you.
00:09:25.000 Burgundy.
00:09:26.000 What a smash.
00:09:27.000 Oh, you're so sweet.
00:09:27.000 Comments in chat where you thought of raw suits.
00:09:29.000 There we go.
00:09:30.000 We're sorted.
00:09:32.000 Thank you.
00:09:32.000 Hey, so we're all on the same page.
00:09:33.000 So we were saying, you know, have you heard the good news?
00:09:36.000 Yeah.
00:09:37.000 Old style evangelism.
00:09:38.000 But did you know when we prayed with Peggy and Mae today, and I said that the crucifixion and resurrection, I goes, what do you think it gave us?
00:09:46.000 And one of them, Said power, another one said energy.
00:09:49.000 Yeah, actually said like Wi Fi, didn't they?
00:09:53.000 Uh, I thought you brought up Wi Fi, but in any event, our children are very bright, but they did say power and energy.
00:10:00.000 Yeah, like it establishes a new frequency, a new possibility.
00:10:05.000 Consider the work of Richard Framan, which I can't claim to understand, he's a physical theorist or a theoretical physicist.
00:10:11.000 I'm always confused already, but then it is both wave and particle in a super state of potentiality.
00:10:16.000 He says that.
00:10:18.000 When we envisage light, we envisage light traveling.
00:10:21.000 But really, what's happening is an excitation in the field.
00:10:24.000 It has no mass, it's an excitation in the field.
00:10:28.000 So, if you consider the resurrection of our Lord to be a kind of someone switched on the Wi Fi, someone switched on the Wi Fi, you have access now to a different field.
00:10:37.000 Yes.
00:10:37.000 It takes you beyond the limited service available to you.
00:10:41.000 Speaking of myself, when you are trapped in sin.
00:10:43.000 So, also very beautiful, isn't it, my darling, to consider that even in doing this, if we are able to do our humble service of talking about how.
00:10:51.000 With Jesus Christ, even doing things that might otherwise be considered shameful and hurtful, walking with Him, you realize nothing you're doing is that important.
00:11:01.000 And you know from your own life, your own struggles, your own suffering, and we are in prayer for you as much as we know that you are in prayer for us because we receive and we feel these prayers.
00:11:11.000 We feel them.
00:11:12.000 People are feeling us all the time and it's wonderful.
00:11:15.000 I feel, as much as I feel the weight of spiritual warfare, I feel the lightness, the angelic levity of grace everywhere.
00:11:25.000 Yeah.
00:11:26.000 Abundantly be Israel. 1.00
00:11:27.000 I know. 1.00
00:11:28.000 Actually, I think that, I mean, obviously, that is the thing.
00:11:30.000 There's no other thing that you could say could carry through something like this because I, you know, when someone might be like, I don't even know what to say to you, you must be having a really hard time.
00:11:41.000 And I'm like, actually, there's a lot of grace in this.
00:11:46.000 Like, there is a lot of grace and a lot of, would you say even mercy?
00:11:50.000 I don't know.
00:11:51.000 But the feeling of the people we're surrounded by and the sort of feeling of being carried.
00:11:58.000 It doesn't mean it's not difficult.
00:12:00.000 It doesn't mean there aren't moments of terror, you know, challenge, but it does mean you, whether it's what you've just read, whether it is the helmet of salvation and the breastplate of righteousness, whether we're putting on that armoury or armour, would you say armour or armoury?
00:12:19.000 I say armour.
00:12:19.000 Armour before going in or whatever it is, we obviously do pray before going in.
00:12:24.000 We obviously, you know, we read Psalms on the way the other morning.
00:12:29.000 Someone sent me a couple of Psalms and I read them.
00:12:31.000 Russell found them in the Bible.
00:12:32.000 We read them out with the people we travel with in the car.
00:12:36.000 And it's like keeping you on track.
00:12:38.000 It's, you could fall off track really easily.
00:12:41.000 I think it could, we could become wanting to just be absorbed in the excitement of the, of whatever's going on around you.
00:12:49.000 Uh, we both do pretty well.
00:12:50.000 We're pretty, um, vigilant about not, uh, engaging in the media, uh, around it.
00:12:56.000 It's too, uh, evil.
00:12:59.000 I'm sorry to say, isn't it?
00:13:01.000 I mean, there's something come, there's dark, it's darkness because you know, That you hear the same things they hear, but you know that's not what they're reporting.
00:13:10.000 So, for example, and that could be applied to anything.
00:13:13.000 Yeah.
00:13:13.000 Let me talk about what's in media.
00:13:14.000 So, yeah, I'm talking literally about anything like you could say that I didn't show up on a day, which was written about, right?
00:13:22.000 But I'm saying, you know, well, I don't need to explain.
00:13:27.000 The Lord, we fight from victory, not for victory.
00:13:30.000 Everything the enemy does is ultimately, even including and perhaps especially personal suffering.
00:13:35.000 Yeah.
00:13:36.000 In keeping with his.
00:13:38.000 Perfect plan.
00:13:38.000 That's always been there.
00:13:39.000 It's not coming right now.
00:13:41.000 I know. 0.82
00:13:43.000 Jericho's got a wart on her head, and I saw Laura sort of hone in on like the old wart. 1.00
00:13:47.000 I'll get myself salivating over the head wart.
00:13:50.000 If you have a wart on your head, you do not pick it.
00:13:53.000 You leave that wart there.
00:13:55.000 That's what I get fascinated with.
00:13:57.000 No, do you know what?
00:13:57.000 I always wondered if that was going to go.
00:13:59.000 A warty?
00:14:00.000 Yeah, but actually.
00:14:01.000 When you see a wart, do you always just want to give it a little stroke?
00:14:03.000 Do you?
00:14:04.000 Is that what happens?
00:14:05.000 Not always.
00:14:06.000 Can you resist touching the wart?
00:14:08.000 I don't think it's a wart because warts are contagious.
00:14:11.000 It does.
00:14:12.000 Mostly.
00:14:13.000 I don't know.
00:14:14.000 Well, I think warts are contagious.
00:14:15.000 I'm, it's like a.
00:14:16.000 Leave it be.
00:14:17.000 I know, but it's just, it's where I, it's the center of her head.
00:14:20.000 Did I interrupt you or did I interrupt myself?
00:14:22.000 You interrupted yourself because, but that's the center of her head.
00:14:25.000 I'm actually doing that like Dr. Evil using the cat's head braille.
00:14:31.000 Yes, you were so, I believe you were saying you see how it's misreported, but instantly.
00:14:34.000 I'm talking about even like you could wear something or you could be not seen or seen.
00:14:38.000 You know, I'm talking about the very general stuff that everybody knows about how the media behave, you know?
00:14:44.000 But in the misreporting, they reveal something.
00:14:47.000 Yes.
00:14:48.000 Yeah, of course.
00:14:49.000 They reveal a preference.
00:14:50.000 Yeah, of course.
00:14:51.000 Yeah. 1.00
00:14:52.000 Bias. 0.99
00:14:52.000 Yeah. 0.99
00:14:53.000 A habit.
00:14:54.000 Yeah.
00:14:54.000 And all those things, I think.
00:14:57.000 The Lord knows what He's doing.
00:14:59.000 Yeah.
00:14:59.000 You're right.
00:15:00.000 He makes it clear.
00:15:01.000 It makes it clear because what I love about Alcoholics Anonymous is Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12 step anonymous groups that I may or may not belong to are like there's no single authority in there.
00:15:14.000 Yeah.
00:15:15.000 The only authority is the authority of the group.
00:15:16.000 The group.
00:15:17.000 Vote together.
00:15:18.000 And as a group, you have to recognize people are fair and decent and beautiful.
00:15:25.000 In fact, the empire is predicated on the idea that we are broken and ruined.
00:15:29.000 And some might say rather, not fatically, I want to say acerbically, for people do, that Christianity is founded on just the very same principle, the fall.
00:15:39.000 But Christianity isn't founded on the principle of the fall.
00:15:42.000 Christianity is redemption.
00:15:44.000 And Christianity is salvation and it's God coming down. 0.64
00:15:46.000 And the narrative that means, by this narrative, I mean my faith is that this narrative is.
00:15:52.000 Explains the truth of our condition is that we are made for oneness with God, but we turn away from oneness with God because free will affords us to be in self should we choose to.
00:16:03.000 We can elevate self to the highest priority.
00:16:08.000 Therefore, it doesn't matter if in elevating yourself you identify with any particular cause.
00:16:13.000 It could be that you're addicted to chocolate, it could be that you think your job as a manager of a fast food, of a chicken restaurant means that you can shout at people.
00:16:24.000 Anything you do that is predicated upon self, the principle that yourself is the highest idea.
00:16:28.000 And I think this can happen in neutrality.
00:16:30.000 I mean, if you look at the tool just off the 12 steps, you'll note that the very method that can be used for drug dependency can be used for alcohol dependency, but perhaps more surprisingly, behavioral problems around sex or food.
00:16:42.000 Yeah.
00:16:43.000 And that's extraordinary.
00:16:44.000 Or codependency.
00:16:45.000 Yeah.
00:16:45.000 This means that this problem of self is not the nexus, but the loci, the locus of the problem.
00:16:56.000 If you solve the problem of self and As a follower of Christ, you believe that by giving your life to Him, by saying, All right, I can't do this anymore, you know, it might start with a diffuse, an amorphous God, but in the end, the cross will bring it all together that you are a recipient of grace and that your job is to love.
00:17:14.000 You are a recipient of grace and it's your job to love.
00:17:17.000 Stay grounded.
00:17:19.000 Stay grounded.
00:17:20.000 That's the message of the cross.
00:17:22.000 Let me tell you the message of the cross.
00:17:24.000 Let us know in the comments and chat if I've not exhausted the possibilities of what the cross could represent in that.
00:17:29.000 Anyway, I'm just saying that the media could be, maybe it's in its own way favorable.
00:17:33.000 Yeah, of course.
00:17:34.000 I mean, we don't, you know, yes, of course.
00:17:36.000 I understand that.
00:17:37.000 You said this thing about shame a moment ago, and I was looking for something in Hebrews where he says, scorning the shame of the cross.
00:17:49.000 I was looking at that.
00:17:50.000 Maybe in the end, I might need a phone for that.
00:17:54.000 Yeah, what would you like me to do?
00:17:56.000 If you put into a search engine, scorning the shame.
00:17:59.000 Oh, no, here we go.
00:18:00.000 I found it.
00:18:01.000 Oh, brilliant.
00:18:01.000 Hebrews 12.
00:18:02.000 Take that.
00:18:03.000 Past? 0.96
00:18:04.000 Make that the past!
00:18:07.000 Hebrews 12.
00:18:08.000 Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, for the joy that was set before him.
00:18:24.000 He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
00:18:30.000 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
00:18:38.000 Nice.
00:18:40.000 That he didn't give to you as the world gives to you.
00:18:46.000 The world is sin always on the way in, it is exciting.
00:18:52.000 You at some point were invited in, were you not?
00:18:55.000 Come this way for the money or for the excitement or for whatever.
00:18:59.000 And how does it feel when you're in there?
00:19:02.000 And is the general trend that it's decaying, deteriorating because this?
00:19:06.000 Is the dark signature of the enemy, of the fallen one, decay, death?
00:19:11.000 Or did you find out it's just got better and better since I took that Faustian pact?
00:19:15.000 Since I did that deal with the devil, my life's getting better and better and improving.
00:19:18.000 No, once you're in there, you realize it's not real.
00:19:21.000 I think of the immediate thing I think of is how much I sometimes so want to eat a McDonald's.
00:19:28.000 And even when we go on those long drives, whether it was to the hospitals or whatever, and we're on those 10 hour drives, and it's like just right towards the end, you cave and you think, let's just have a Wendy's.
00:19:38.000 Or whatever.
00:19:40.000 You know, when I'm, yeah, when I'm telling, yeah, like when I'm saying, Oh, no, when I, cause I'm the one suggesting it.
00:19:45.000 We're in the car, we're driving along.
00:19:47.000 And then there just comes a point, you go with good healthy snacks, and then just right towards the end, good healthy snacks.
00:19:53.000 Miserable little bag of seeds.
00:19:55.000 I've got the seeds. 0.75
00:19:57.000 I've got the seeds.
00:19:58.000 I've got the water.
00:19:58.000 We've got kombucha.
00:19:59.000 Coconut shreds.
00:20:00.000 We've got a different type of beef sticks that the kids don't like because they've got organs.
00:20:05.000 Bad bread. 0.83
00:20:05.000 Because they've got organs in them. 0.83
00:20:07.000 Awful things.
00:20:09.000 Anyway, delicious, actually.
00:20:10.000 Delicious and very good for you.
00:20:12.000 Oh, yeah, that Paul Saladino.
00:20:13.000 Yeah, those are really great.
00:20:14.000 I'll let you advertise Paul Saladino.
00:20:16.000 Oh, well, I will.
00:20:16.000 They're great.
00:20:17.000 Good drugs, beef sticks.
00:20:18.000 I beg your pardon.
00:20:20.000 Mrs. Brown, are you saying from the stand that you enjoyed Paul Saladino's beefsteak?
00:20:26.000 Don't be clear.
00:20:27.000 You follow me?
00:20:28.000 It's beefsteak.
00:20:29.000 You follow me?
00:20:29.000 Protein powder.
00:20:31.000 You like it?
00:20:31.000 Wait.
00:20:32.000 For the benefit, Your Honor.
00:20:34.000 Stop.
00:20:35.000 For the benefit.
00:20:35.000 No, stop, because this isn't an advert for Paul Saladino's stuff.
00:20:40.000 Reborn.
00:20:41.000 Reborn.
00:20:42.000 No, but the point being, when we get nearly towards the end of a trip and we've done so well and you're nearly there and you've maybe done a couple of loose stops, but you haven't.
00:20:51.000 You've eaten good food and you're not going to do it and you're not going to cook something.
00:20:54.000 And then just right at the end, I think I have to, I cannot hold it anymore.
00:20:58.000 I need a double whopper, whatever it's called.
00:21:01.000 You know, they're called Dave.
00:21:02.000 The whopper, for your attention.
00:21:05.000 Yeah.
00:21:05.000 The whopper, the whopper is a Burger King product.
00:21:09.000 No further questions.
00:21:10.000 No, so hold on.
00:21:12.000 The whopper isn't Wendy's.
00:21:13.000 No further questions.
00:21:14.000 You spent way too much time there this week.
00:21:17.000 No, at Wendy's, it's called something like the double Dave.
00:21:20.000 It's called the double Dave.
00:21:21.000 It's called the double Dave.
00:21:23.000 And it's really good.
00:21:24.000 But it doesn't feel good after.
00:21:27.000 However, my whatever way you look, it's good when you taste it.
00:21:30.000 It's good when you first eat it.
00:21:32.000 And then, about I don't know, minutes after you've finished it and you're greasy and you're trying to find out where to put the trash.
00:21:39.000 How are you eating it?
00:21:40.000 Well, it's actually.
00:21:41.000 Greasy?
00:21:43.000 It's like a wild animal.
00:21:45.000 I've got napkins.
00:21:46.000 Yeah, but you have a particular thing for napkins.
00:21:49.000 You like a lot of napkins.
00:21:50.000 I like that.
00:21:50.000 And you don't like food on your hands.
00:21:52.000 I don't like that.
00:21:52.000 I, however, just eat it in a normal way and then have to wipe my hands afterwards.
00:21:56.000 No.
00:21:57.000 Normal.
00:21:58.000 Of course.
00:21:59.000 Anyway, I don't feel good after, and it does feel sinful.
00:22:01.000 It feels like I just sort of knew that that wasn't the right thing to do for my body more than anything.
00:22:07.000 I'm not saying, and by the way, I don't want to shame even myself for that.
00:22:11.000 There's nothing wrong with, you know, a secret or not a secret fast food meal.
00:22:17.000 But is that what it's called?
00:22:19.000 A fast food meal?
00:22:20.000 Yeah.
00:22:20.000 A fast food meal.
00:22:21.000 Yeah.
00:22:22.000 Yeah.
00:22:22.000 But the feeling is of just trying so hard and then just caving and it not being, not feeling good.
00:22:28.000 And I suppose that's what addiction probably feels like.
00:22:30.000 Maybe if you, You know, if you've got a drink or drug problem, but you mentioned the process of addiction earlier on.
00:22:37.000 Well, I certainly did.
00:22:38.000 And also the process of sin.
00:22:39.000 But always it seems appealing.
00:22:42.000 And what I'm conflating is sin with worldliness and self simultaneously.
00:22:46.000 Oh, that's the point.
00:22:47.000 Sorry.
00:22:48.000 The point is this is my point that I was going to make.
00:22:50.000 You said worldliness.
00:22:52.000 The reason I brought up fast food and the feeling of it being sinful is the only reason I'm thinking of fast food is because of the advertising on the side of the road.
00:23:00.000 The worldliness of the, the, The advertising on the side.
00:23:06.000 Are you seriously suggesting that you don't have enough self determination to resist a Wendy's advert?
00:23:12.000 And somehow the Wendy's sign itself is responsible for you wandering into the Wendy's, ordering a double Dave burger without, might I say, even the courtesy to pick up some napkins and then be surprised that you're covered in grease.
00:23:28.000 Let me finish.
00:23:30.000 I'm agreeing with you.
00:23:31.000 Follow me.
00:23:32.000 I'm agreeing with you.
00:23:34.000 Russell, I said, and I'm agreeing with you.
00:23:41.000 Oh my gosh, you can tell we're tired, can't you?
00:23:44.000 I don't think so.
00:23:44.000 I think I'm pretty coming to pieces of a little life.
00:23:48.000 Okay, no, this is my point.
00:23:50.000 I do have actually a lot of, I'm disciplined.
00:23:54.000 I'm in many ways in my life, I'm disciplined.
00:23:56.000 Go on.
00:23:57.000 But, oh my gosh.
00:23:59.000 I mean, well, first of all, I get up in the morning, I look after the children in the way that I look after them.
00:24:04.000 I'm disciplined in making sure everything's sort of clean and tidy.
00:24:07.000 I'm disciplined in trying to cook nearly all our home cooked meals so that we don't, so we eat well.
00:24:12.000 So, given I'm specifically talking about food, That cave of lack of discipline is because it's like, oh, Wendy's.
00:24:21.000 That is a good argument.
00:24:22.000 That's it.
00:24:22.000 That's a good argument.
00:24:23.000 So there we go. 1.00
00:24:24.000 You're disciplined as a wife. 1.00
00:24:26.000 Yep.
00:24:27.000 Like, even if you're tested as a wife, you've been, you've had some few little tests.
00:24:34.000 Yeah, I've had some tests.
00:24:35.000 I'm, I'm, I would say I'm just generally, I'm quite disciplined.
00:24:39.000 Yeah, fair enough.
00:24:40.000 You win.
00:24:40.000 There we go.
00:24:40.000 You win.
00:24:41.000 You're pushing an open door.
00:24:42.000 Yeah.
00:24:42.000 You're pushing an open door.
00:24:44.000 Listen to this from our beloved Paul, Corinthians seven, four, seven.
00:24:49.000 But we have this treasure in jars of clay.
00:24:52.000 In fact, I'm going to start a line at verse earlier because it gives you For God, who said, Let light shine out of darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ.
00:25:05.000 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us.
00:25:12.000 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed, perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not abandoned, struck down.
00:25:22.000 But not destroyed.
00:25:24.000 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
00:25:33.000 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.
00:25:41.000 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
00:25:47.000 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
00:25:52.000 Oh, so he's given them a bit of a chastising.
00:25:53.000 They've been a bit too lively.
00:25:55.000 But I love this persecuted but not abandoned.
00:25:57.000 That's so beautiful, isn't it?
00:25:58.000 That's lovely.
00:25:58.000 That's really lovely.
00:26:00.000 I love him so much.
00:26:01.000 I was realizing, did you have something?
00:26:03.000 Only because I was going to say, I really enjoyed what we read today.
00:26:06.000 And I don't know if it comes into today's Sunday service.
00:26:10.000 But maybe you could also say a little bit about this because I don't know much about this.
00:26:14.000 I mean, but save that page because this is the bit I wanted to read.
00:26:17.000 In the corner.
00:26:18.000 There we go.
00:26:18.000 Thanks, Barry.
00:26:19.000 Yeah.
00:26:20.000 I think I told you a lot.
00:26:22.000 I was out in my main.
00:26:22.000 Yeah.
00:26:23.000 You did tell the story, but.
00:26:24.000 So I'm staying with Jake.
00:26:26.000 Dave, Joe, like a quadrant in a beloved friend's apartment.
00:26:31.000 Yeah.
00:26:32.000 And our friend Sarah is working with us and doing wonderfully well also.
00:26:36.000 But, you know, I hang with Joe a lot.
00:26:38.000 Joe is the guy that's the security guard and, like, you know, the door and everything.
00:26:42.000 That's so funny, man.
00:26:43.000 But, like, so.
00:26:44.000 That was written about.
00:26:46.000 That was covered.
00:26:46.000 That's covered.
00:26:47.000 Me and Joe were out, like, last week going to church.
00:26:50.000 Like, well, I would just go to a 12 step thing to catch up with people around here.
00:26:54.000 Yeah.
00:26:54.000 We're in our country now, our beautiful country.
00:26:58.000 And like, so, but my mate Joe, he's a 12 step dude too, but he wants to live by the river.
00:27:04.000 We live by the river.
00:27:04.000 And look at this beautiful bay window.
00:27:06.000 This is our home.
00:27:06.000 Look at how this beautiful cat's sat.
00:27:07.000 This cat's molting an awful lot.
00:27:09.000 I'm actually itching like crazy.
00:27:11.000 Do you know what word immediately comes to my mind when I hear people talk?
00:27:13.000 Hives.
00:27:14.000 No.
00:27:15.000 Dander.
00:27:16.000 It's the dander. 1.00
00:27:18.000 It's because she's elderly. 0.96
00:27:19.000 So she's got. 1.00
00:27:20.000 Quite a size of her.
00:27:20.000 No, no, no.
00:27:21.000 But I'm just saying it's not.
00:27:22.000 I don't.
00:27:23.000 I'm not always allergic to cats, but I think she's molting a little bit more, and the dander is creating a bit of an allergic reaction.
00:27:31.000 But it doesn't stop me loving her.
00:27:33.000 Nothing can stop me loving her.
00:27:34.000 Nothing stops me loving her.
00:27:35.000 I love her so much.
00:27:36.000 She's beautiful.
00:27:36.000 If you see me itching my eye and my nose, I have a little bit of an itch here and it's going all over my clothes as well.
00:27:42.000 But what there is of your clothes, Mrs. Brandt?
00:27:45.000 Oh my God.
00:27:46.000 So, this book, we were on our way to, you know, we went to Tulsa.
00:27:49.000 Me and my mate Joe was talking about he needed communion.
00:27:52.000 Yeah.
00:27:53.000 Like he, like I was just remembering Joe's packet, but I can't do that job.
00:27:56.000 No, no, no.
00:27:57.000 In this environment.
00:27:59.000 But he needs to talk to, like, he needed the Eucharist and confession, like the way it would have been when you're using drugs and drinking, even though I didn't know him then.
00:28:10.000 But both of us are on that path of recovering from drug and alcohol dependency.
00:28:14.000 And like, so he was going, I've got to get a Eucharist.
00:28:16.000 I have to have the Eucharist.
00:28:16.000 I shouldn't bother going there.
00:28:18.000 No, I know.
00:28:18.000 It's my mood, my mood for the whole day.
00:28:21.000 I've got to go and get a Eucharist.
00:28:22.000 I go, listen, I'll take you now.
00:28:23.000 I'll take you to, did I do this last week?
00:28:25.000 Yeah, you did this last week.
00:28:27.000 You meant to stop me when I do that.
00:28:28.000 I did say already, I said, yeah, you talked about this last week.
00:28:31.000 Then I thought you were going to give a different story.
00:28:32.000 I thought you were talking just about the book bit.
00:28:34.000 Don't ever let me do the same story twice.
00:28:37.000 He's done the story last week.
00:28:39.000 Now, what I want to know, no, wait.
00:28:41.000 He's done the story last week.
00:28:42.000 Check out last week's.
00:28:42.000 Check out last week.
00:28:43.000 This is the point.
00:28:43.000 I want you to talk about the book, the actual book itself.
00:28:46.000 I rambled.
00:28:47.000 It's all right.
00:28:48.000 It doesn't matter.
00:28:48.000 Rambling, unforgivable.
00:28:50.000 Some people won't have heard last week's.
00:28:51.000 Go back and watch last week's.
00:28:52.000 Okay.
00:28:53.000 He got a book last week.
00:28:54.000 This is it.
00:28:54.000 Russell, talk about this book.
00:28:57.000 It's about, well, you do it.
00:28:58.000 It's folk.
00:28:58.000 No, because I don't know anything about it.
00:29:00.000 What you do is you're devoting yourself to the sort of compassion of, it says 33 days to merciful love, a do yourself retreat, preparation for the consecration to Divine Mary.
00:29:10.000 And we're following St. Therese of Lesue, excuse me.
00:29:14.000 I think she's a Carmelite nun.
00:29:16.000 And you're talking, and she's like leading you.
00:29:18.000 Well, through this, there's an American author, I think, Father Michael E. Gately.
00:29:25.000 And they're leading you through prayer into the mystery of Mary's love for Christ.
00:29:32.000 Talking too about other great figures of the Old Testament, for example, Abraham, and bringing yourself to Christ in true humility and demonstrating that it is, in fact, Mary who, in a sense, redeems the original sin, a new Eve.
00:29:50.000 Christ being a new and perfect Adam, and that it's Mary's faith that is a counterpoint to Eve's doubt, and that Mary, through her faithfulness, a woman that would bear a child, well, would conceive a child, as I've said before, redeeming both the, I think redeeming, it's non canonical, but the book of Enoch's talk,
00:30:15.000 and indeed Genesis 1's talk of inter dimensional beings breeding with humans.
00:30:21.000 Yeah.
00:30:22.000 Redeeming that by sort of a perfect union as the brought to Mary by the angel Gabriel, and then she lives her life in total faith.
00:30:29.000 Mary, yes, total faith, yeah, and then has to watch him be crucified.
00:30:32.000 I mean, who can think of their own having to watch their own child be crucified?
00:30:38.000 Horrendous, and this book's really and because they describe it as he in this book he's describing new evangelization.
00:30:48.000 New evangelization.
00:30:50.000 Well, actually, that's just this is what the how the um this reverend is.
00:30:55.000 Describing it in a review.
00:30:56.000 Right.
00:30:57.000 I guess they've included this because it describes it and said, well, do you want me to do my best to unpack it?
00:31:00.000 Yeah.
00:31:01.000 This book is exactly what I've been looking for.
00:31:02.000 My main priority being the new evangelization.
00:31:05.000 So I guess even though this dude is a reverend, yeah, that's why I was referring to him.
00:31:08.000 From a different church, now a man who's a Catholic, plainly.
00:31:12.000 He's.
00:31:12.000 So this could be a book for anyone.
00:31:14.000 I suppose so.
00:31:15.000 That's what we're saying, as if we've got a reverend.
00:31:17.000 Certainly they're including someone from a different Christian denomination, presumably for what passes for marketing reasons in such an esoteric field.
00:31:25.000 Because I think part of the thing that can be conflicting, maybe, is.
00:31:28.000 If you want materials, yeah.
00:31:31.000 Because when I read it this morning, I thought, is this.
00:31:32.000 I love Mary.
00:31:33.000 I'm Catholic, yeah.
00:31:34.000 But, like, what Mary does is, well, she can, it's all held.
00:31:39.000 Yeah. 0.84
00:31:40.000 And before I was anywhere near Christianity, I used to think of our country, the UK, since I thought this, I don't know, Pabulous is a worthwhile thought and one that I've done last week. 0.98
00:31:51.000 I'll tell you if you have. 0.99
00:31:52.000 Please do.
00:31:54.000 The thought being that when we, through, you know, famously through Henry VIII departed from the Catholic Church, probably wanted to divorce, you know, I can't remember which one, but one of them, of the eight wives. 0.60
00:32:08.000 They sort of hold on, here was my point.
00:32:14.000 Sorry, where did I start with that? 0.60
00:32:18.000 You were talking about, you were talking, it was a new story, and it was a new story about Henry VIII departing from the Catholic Church.
00:32:26.000 And there was a point you were about to make.
00:32:27.000 Oh, yeah, that's what I was going to say.
00:32:29.000 Thank you very much.
00:32:29.000 Like, what happened was that I feel that Britain has sort of been left with this wound of the departed mother of the Marian tradition.
00:32:40.000 Yeah.
00:32:40.000 Because one of the things, Protestant doesn't do is revere as a deity, kind of, the Holy Mother Mary.
00:32:48.000 So, and I felt that a peculiar social expression of that was like Boudicca, who you were talking about.
00:32:54.000 I have to talk about that.
00:32:55.000 Queen, the greatest monarchs really of this country have been female, Victoria, the Elizabeths, that's all.
00:33:01.000 But then even Thatcher, like a story like that, that somehow we got untethered from the divine feminine.
00:33:08.000 Yes, yes, you're right. 0.99
00:33:08.000 So the culture tries to create a mother. 0.99
00:33:11.000 Yes. 1.00
00:33:11.000 Create a mother. 1.00
00:33:12.000 Yes.
00:33:13.000 But the Queen was everyone's mum, basically, weren't she?
00:33:15.000 She was functioning like that.
00:33:16.000 I mean, if you looked at an image of the Queen next to a Marian image, you would say iconically, just trying to create a job of a mother.
00:33:26.000 Her icon was one, the crown, but two, the purse.
00:33:29.000 And between those two things, some would say that image system is very.
00:33:33.000 Yeah.
00:33:34.000 That's right.
00:33:35.000 That's exactly right.
00:33:36.000 Well, I'll read this bit because I really enjoyed reading this this morning.
00:33:39.000 You're going to hear it again for the second time today.
00:33:42.000 But I presume this is a day by day.
00:33:44.000 33 days.
00:33:45.000 33 days.
00:33:46.000 Yeah.
00:33:47.000 So it's a retreat.
00:33:47.000 And this is day seven.
00:33:49.000 New Eve of light and life.
00:33:52.000 Week one is what is trust?
00:33:54.000 This week, we've been looking at the meaning of trust, the heart of which comes through the examples of Abraham and Mary, who were blessed because they believed that what God had promised them would be fulfilled.
00:34:05.000 But while Mary far surpasses Abraham as an example of faith, she also provides something that Abraham cannot.
00:34:12.000 The grace to believe, the grace to trust.
00:34:16.000 Let me explain this crucial point.
00:34:18.000 Faith is a gift of grace.
00:34:20.000 It is no human work.
00:34:22.000 So how do we obtain it? 0.89
00:34:24.000 We obtain it through Mary. 0.53
00:34:26.000 Why do I say that? 0.64
00:34:28.000 Because Mary is the new Eve.
00:34:31.000 As we learned on day one, the old Eve brought about the wound of original sin. 0.52
00:34:37.000 A wound that causes us to have distorted, have a distorted image of God.
00:34:42.000 A wound that causes us to doubt God's goodness.
00:34:45.000 A wound that causes us to tend to hide from God.
00:34:48.000 The wound, then, is clearly about God. 0.67
00:34:51.000 And so God uses another woman, a new Eve, to help heal the wound that the old Eve caused.
00:34:58.000 A new Eve, a woman who was announced from the beginning, a woman who would be at enmity with Satan, a woman whose offspring would crush the serpent's head.
00:35:10.000 Genesis 3 15.
00:35:12.000 In a certain sense, God needs this woman's help. 1.00
00:35:16.000 Why?
00:35:16.000 Because again, the wound has to do with God.
00:35:19.000 So God has two problems.
00:35:22.000 1.
00:35:22.000 He wants us fallen creatures to believe in His Word and to trust in His goodness, and that's something He can't force because trust, like love, must be given in freedom.
00:35:33.000 Two, due to the wound of the original sin, we already tend to distrust God.
00:35:39.000 So when he draws close to us, we often run and hide.
00:35:42.000 You might say then that the new Eve is God's secret weapon because our wound doesn't have to do with her.
00:35:49.000 After all, she's a creature like us.
00:35:52.000 And best of all, she's a kind and gentle mother.
00:35:56.000 And who can be afraid of such a mother?
00:35:59.000 So Mary can win hearts in a way that even Jesus Christ can't.
00:36:04.000 What? 0.54
00:36:05.000 Well, I say that because Jesus is good, and again, our wound has to do with God.
00:36:10.000 That's why, even today, after all he has done for us, people still avoid Jesus.
00:36:16.000 But a mother who is not God can often win over such straying hearts.
00:36:22.000 And what does our Heavenly Mother do when she wins such hearts?
00:36:25.000 She brings them to Jesus.
00:36:27.000 That's Mary's whole passion and purpose.
00:36:30.000 She just wants to heal the wound.
00:36:33.000 She just wants us to believe in God and trust in his mercy.
00:36:37.000 She just wants us to come to understand God's goodness and accept his merciful love.
00:36:42.000 And she's effective, not only because she's such a tender mother, but also because, as the church teaches, she's a mediatrix of grace.
00:36:52.000 I didn't know what mediatrix means.
00:36:53.000 I think it's like mediatrix, or do you think it's mediatrix?
00:36:55.000 It's the first time I've ever heard that word, mediatrix or mediatrix.
00:36:59.000 I wonder what it is, mediatrix.
00:37:00.000 Because you think of like dominatrix, forgive even though it's just like the way that the language works.
00:37:05.000 Tricks.
00:37:06.000 Yeah, or matrix.
00:37:07.000 Matrix is what I immediately tell you.
00:37:09.000 Yeah, mediatrix.
00:37:10.000 That's why I went for a mediatrix.
00:37:11.000 But anyway, it seems to be a flowing nexus.
00:37:15.000 Okay.
00:37:15.000 Like an excitation in the field.
00:37:18.000 Right.
00:37:18.000 Excitation.
00:37:19.000 She's a mediatrix.
00:37:20.000 It's like a flash to an excitation in the field, to use a Richard Frame and a theoretical, physical term.
00:37:26.000 And she's a mediatrix of grace.
00:37:29.000 So it's the energy of the grace within the field.
00:37:31.000 By the writer of that book.
00:37:33.000 By a mediatrix of grace, I don't mean that Mary is the source of grace, the heart of Christ.
00:37:40.000 Pierced with a lance and overflowing with blood and water.
00:37:45.000 That is the source of grace.
00:37:46.000 But Mary leads us and brings us to that source of grace, the fountain of mercy.
00:37:53.000 Also, she herself helps open our hearts to receive that mercy.
00:37:58.000 Why?
00:37:58.000 Because of what she went through on cavalry.
00:38:01.000 On cavalry, Mary's heart was pierced with a sword, as Simeon had foretold, see Luke 2 35.
00:38:09.000 But her pierced heart is.
00:38:10.000 Different from that of her sons.
00:38:13.000 Again, when his sacred heart was pierced, it became the fountain of mercy, the source of mercy.
00:38:20.000 But when Mary's immaculate heart was pierced, it became an instrument of grace that opens hearts to receive God's mercy.
00:38:28.000 Luke 2 3 5.
00:38:29.000 And now, of course, the piercing of her heart hurt.
00:38:33.000 In fact, it was unfathomable suffering of her motherly heart at Calvary that makes her heart an instrument of grace, a mediatrix of.
00:38:41.000 Grace and it's her suffering more than that of any other creature that makes up for what is lacking in the suffering of Christ.
00:38:50.000 What?
00:38:51.000 When he says what, I don't really like those.
00:38:53.000 No, do I?
00:38:53.000 I don't like it when people, like, if you read, what?
00:38:57.000 I hear you cry.
00:38:58.000 Okay, so I might just skip that.
00:39:00.000 Anyway, yeah, brilliant.
00:39:03.000 I love it.
00:39:03.000 I love it.
00:39:04.000 This is not a criticism.
00:39:06.000 No, you're quite right.
00:39:07.000 But I also, I was reading it the other day to my mate.
00:39:10.000 Yeah.
00:39:10.000 I was like, Not that strange that reading, but he uses this device of yes, colloquialism, which of course the church always, yeah, wants to bring in, right?
00:39:18.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah, because you're not meant to do that, you don't need to appeal to the culture, the culture is Satan.
00:39:23.000 I could read this easier without the questions, but anyway, anyway, is something lacking in Christ's suffering, according to Saint Paul?
00:39:32.000 There is, he says, in my flesh, I complete what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ.
00:39:38.000 Colossians 1 2 4.
00:39:39.000 Now, of course, in one sense, there's nothing lacking in Christ's suffering.
00:39:43.000 In fact, his suffering and death on the cross obtained the grace of salvation for everyone who has ever lived, is living, and will live, even to the end of time.
00:39:53.000 In other words, the love that flows from the Lord's pierced heart is an infinite ocean of mercy.
00:40:00.000 Problem is, not everyone accepts Receives and draws from such a super abundant source.
00:40:07.000 They close their hearts to Christ's saving love.
00:40:10.000 So, really, the lack is on the side of sinful humanity, but we can help make up for that.
00:40:17.000 Through our suffering, lovingly united with Christ's, we can obtain for people the grace to accept his gift of salvation.
00:40:25.000 For instance, I can pray and sacrifice for you, and it makes a difference.
00:40:30.000 You can pray and sacrifice for me, and it makes a difference.
00:40:33.000 But no human No human being makes more of a difference than Mary when it comes to helping people obtain the grace and mercy flowing from the heart of Jesus.
00:40:44.000 Why?
00:40:45.000 Again, because Mary is the new Eve.
00:40:48.000 Mary truly is the new Eve who brings us to the new Adam on the new tree of life, the cross.
00:40:54.000 And once there, she lovingly encourages us not to eat forbidden fruit, but to drink from the blessed fountain of eternal life, the fountain of mercy.
00:41:04.000 And through the grace of her suffering at the Foot of the cross, our gentle mother opens our hearts to receive the gift of salvation that comes to us in the love and mercy that flows from Christ's pierced side.
00:41:18.000 Such saving faith truly is a gift of Christ through Mary, and such a gift leads the church to rightly declare death through Eve, life through Mary.
00:41:29.000 And it says there, today's prayer Come, Holy Spirit, fire of mercy, bring me through Mary to the fountain of mercy.
00:41:40.000 Bring me through Mary to this fountain of mercy.
00:41:43.000 Come, Holy Spirit.
00:41:44.000 Come, Holy Spirit.
00:41:45.000 It actually makes me dizzy reading that.
00:41:49.000 Lord, let us be the recipients of the grace described in this instance.
00:41:54.000 Let's just check those references.
00:41:56.000 First, from Luke 2 35. 0.86
00:42:02.000 The child is designed to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel.
00:42:06.000 This is the prophecy when they present him at the temple, Mary and Joseph. 0.94
00:42:11.000 So, the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed, and a sword will pierce your own soul too.
00:42:16.000 Mary is told with infant Christ and from Colosseans, early on there, I think you said 124.
00:42:26.000 About Paul writes, Now, rejoice.
00:42:30.000 Now, I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, which is the church.
00:42:43.000 I have become its servant.
00:42:45.000 By the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness, the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord's people.
00:42:56.000 So then God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles, among the Gentiles, the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory that it is present in us.
00:43:07.000 And I like the way that the author there, who doesn't put his name on the front, rather.
00:43:11.000 Oh, it's on the back.
00:43:12.000 Oh, yeah, Father Michael Gately poses to us that is through Mary's divine grace.
00:43:18.000 That we become the recipients of Christ's mercy.
00:43:21.000 And in a sense, I see how theologically this makes sense because whilst Christ's sacrifice or kenosis lacks nothing and is perfect, the requirement for our participation remains and therefore a role model such as the Holy Mother.
00:43:36.000 As much as, I'm not saying as much, but perhaps one might similarly think of the beloved disciple.
00:43:42.000 But of course, if you are Catholic, then Mary uniquely from the minute of her encounter with Gabriel, when she's basically a child, certainly a very young woman.
00:43:52.000 Receives the news that she is going to be pregnant with, okay, let's go.
00:43:59.000 Let's go. 0.98
00:43:59.000 That's what we're going to do. 0.98
00:44:00.000 That's what we're going to do.
00:44:02.000 And then she's told when the baby is pretty young, this is going to be real painful for you.
00:44:08.000 And then she lives in through his whole life and loves him, sets him off in the miracles.
00:44:12.000 It's her that says, sort that wine out.
00:44:15.000 Sort out the vino, boy.
00:44:17.000 Yeah.
00:44:18.000 And he does.
00:44:21.000 He does what he's told.
00:44:22.000 He loves his mother.
00:44:24.000 Did you have something else to read from there?
00:44:26.000 No, I mean, what do you want to say?
00:44:27.000 Maybe I was going to read some comments and wrap it up, really.
00:44:30.000 Yeah.
00:44:31.000 Yeah. 1.00
00:44:32.000 Because look at this sweet cat.
00:44:33.000 I mean, it's beautiful.
00:44:34.000 It couldn't be more perfect and more homely.
00:44:36.000 I fold her up.
00:44:37.000 I know, but she's.
00:44:38.000 Oh, no, because then it's like, in order to put her straight to the camera, it's torturing a picture of the Lord.
00:44:45.000 I just want to.
00:44:46.000 I'll just get some comments while you find that.
00:44:47.000 Okay.
00:44:48.000 I don't know where I'll find it.
00:44:49.000 All right.
00:44:49.000 So there were some really lovely comments last week.
00:44:51.000 Thank you so much.
00:44:53.000 Well.
00:44:53.000 You didn't mess around there.
00:44:54.000 I was going to do a whole passage of Genesis, but you were like, okay, sorry. 1.00
00:44:58.000 You were like, darkology. 1.00
00:44:59.000 You were like Val Kilmer in Tombstone. 1.00
00:45:02.000 It was so quick on the draw.
00:45:03.000 I thought, well, she'll need a minute. 0.88
00:45:05.000 She'll still be recovering from that reading.
00:45:07.000 The reading did send me sort of dizzy.
00:45:08.000 What do you mean by that?
00:45:09.000 Because I think it's very, very deep.
00:45:11.000 And I think as a mother, reading about that is something.
00:45:14.000 And when it says tender and loving and tender and grace and mercy, these words are emotive for a mother.
00:45:25.000 And well, what it is is you can, the pain and suffering that she must have experienced, when it talks about that, even, and you think, gosh, as if she didn't experience it.
00:45:34.000 Experience enough pain and suffering.
00:45:35.000 She had to go and, you know, she, she, through her whole life, and she was able to be graceful.
00:45:41.000 She was able to be tender.
00:45:42.000 She was able to be kind throughout all of it.
00:45:47.000 Anyway, there we go.
00:45:56.000 Shall I read some comments?
00:45:58.000 Yeah.
00:45:59.000 Okay.
00:45:59.000 At seven, but there's lots of dashes.
00:46:03.000 It's very difficult for me to read that.
00:46:04.000 At dash underscore seven.
00:46:06.000 Dash underscore seven.
00:46:09.000 It was brilliant to hear you talk more this week, Laura.
00:46:12.000 I talked more last week.
00:46:13.000 Well, where's the UC this week?
00:46:15.000 Oh, no. 0.97
00:46:16.000 I gotta shut up. 0.95
00:46:17.000 You looked so calm and graceful going into court. 0.62
00:46:21.000 Thank you.
00:46:23.000 You've such goodness inside and it glows through you.
00:46:25.000 We're behind you.
00:46:27.000 Thank you for that.
00:46:27.000 I actually didn't actually read that before reading that out and I didn't expect to be reading something complimentary of myself.
00:46:32.000 So thank you.
00:46:36.000 Very vain.
00:46:37.000 I'll do the next comment.
00:46:38.000 No, because it's not about me.
00:46:39.000 No, don't.
00:46:40.000 Because I know you'll make one up and it'll be like, Oh, what's this, Russell?
00:46:43.000 You look fantastic.
00:46:44.000 Hold on.
00:46:45.000 Oh, God, that's so weird, especially after you've just said that.
00:46:48.000 Russell, you are so great and brilliant.
00:46:51.000 Hold on.
00:46:52.000 Wait, go on.
00:46:53.000 And that's why Laura should really just be grateful that she gets to accompany you to these trials.
00:47:00.000 Okay.
00:47:01.000 At Elizabeth Sims dash plank nine one five eight.
00:47:05.000 The reason I say this out is because we like to bring your comment up while we're doing this.
00:47:09.000 Sundays with you both is such a Blessing.
00:47:12.000 You lighten my spirit and help center my faith for the week ahead.
00:47:15.000 I pray for your family.
00:47:16.000 May God's peace be upon you all.
00:47:18.000 Much love.
00:47:21.000 And gosh, sometimes I don't know how to work an actual phone.
00:47:25.000 Here we go.
00:47:29.000 Oh, here we go.
00:47:30.000 At Mrs. M4002.
00:47:33.000 I don't know how many viewers realize how odd and impressive it is to admit to others one's public suffering as the brands are doing.
00:47:45.000 I'm over 70 and American, and all I remember from the rich, famous, and powerful are.
00:47:51.000 PR releases, requests for prayers, or just privacy, sometimes both.
00:47:56.000 We're people who want it all.
00:47:58.000 And therapeutic bandage about being the best we can be.
00:48:03.000 Russell and Laura are teaching us how to live through hardship in a realistic way.
00:48:06.000 And I find it admirable.
00:48:08.000 It's very admirable and enlightening.
00:48:10.000 That's very kind.
00:48:11.000 That's the best comment we've ever had.
00:48:12.000 I thought you were going to high five me.
00:48:14.000 Well, no.
00:48:15.000 I don't generally agree with it.
00:48:16.000 But I'll do high fives under pressure on camera.
00:48:19.000 That is at an Anata Kranti.
00:48:24.000 Anata Kranti.
00:48:25.000 I know someone called Anata, but I don't think it's that person.
00:48:28.000 So beautiful.
00:48:28.000 I've heard this comment already.
00:48:30.000 No, that was the previous one.
00:48:31.000 What was her name again?
00:48:32.000 Mrs. M4002.
00:48:34.000 She calls herself Mrs. M.
00:48:35.000 I mean, I just love her already.
00:48:36.000 I know.
00:48:37.000 This is now Anata Kranti. 0.86
00:48:39.000 So beautiful, Laura, to feel the love and strength between you and how you're standing by your maggot. 0.93
00:48:43.000 She didn't say maggot. 0.96
00:48:45.000 No. 0.99
00:48:45.000 Standing by your maggot. 0.99
00:48:48.000 Standing by your maggot. 0.99
00:48:50.000 No, it's because it's man in dignity. 0.98
00:48:53.000 And I just.
00:48:54.000 Don't try and do dignity while you're still on man.
00:48:57.000 Well, I did try and do that.
00:48:58.000 When you're on a man.
00:49:00.000 Praying for you both and your family to get through this and out the other side in no time at all.
00:49:08.000 May justice prevail.
00:49:09.000 Sending love, light, and blessings.
00:49:12.000 At BellaClaire515.
00:49:14.000 BellaClaire, sorry, 515.
00:49:16.000 Laughed out loud in this wonderful service today.
00:49:19.000 I love how they unfold.
00:49:20.000 And I received so much inspiration from your reading and from Russell's commentaries.
00:49:23.000 You are both beautiful souls.
00:49:25.000 I'm praying for you every day.
00:49:27.000 At Mira Stroud.
00:49:28.000 Mirrorstree, I have found so much comfort and encouragement in your Sunday service, spiritual nourishment and an overall sense of peace.
00:49:36.000 Thank you for sharing, sending you prayers.
00:49:38.000 I mean, there's so many.
00:49:40.000 At By Design 27, Russell, I've been praying for you and prayers continue through this ordeal as God will have his way.
00:49:47.000 May you be braced in his grace as we pray for truth and justice for you and your family.
00:49:53.000 Love and blessings.
00:49:54.000 You are loved.
00:49:54.000 Thank you, Brandon.
00:49:55.000 Amazing comment.
00:49:56.000 Yeah, really good.
00:49:57.000 I'm getting off on it, are you?
00:50:00.000 I'm getting off on it.
00:50:02.000 No.
00:50:03.000 Around.
00:50:04.000 Around, good.
00:50:05.000 What do you think I was going to say?
00:50:06.000 At BridgetLogan3870.
00:50:09.000 You both and your lovely family are in our prayers.
00:50:11.000 God bless you and thank you for continuing to do Sunday service despite the immense pressure you're under.
00:50:18.000 God is good and he loves you.
00:50:20.000 He is good and he does.
00:50:22.000 There's so many.
00:50:23.000 I mean, how do I keep going?
00:50:24.000 You stop.
00:50:25.000 You stop.
00:50:26.000 All right.
00:50:27.000 Thank you all.
00:50:28.000 You stop.
00:50:29.000 There's another. 1.00
00:50:30.000 For heaven's sake, woman, please. 1.00
00:50:32.000 Six more pages. 1.00
00:50:33.000 There we go.
00:50:33.000 Well, they're good.
00:50:34.000 Thank you so much for the comments and check the comments below because they're very, very beautiful.
00:50:38.000 And encouraging.
00:50:38.000 And for those of you that leave us wonderful comments and prayers, we receive them with gratitude and we pray for you.
00:50:44.000 And for those that would condemn us, we pray for you as well, equally.
00:50:49.000 We pray for your happiness and for your peace.
00:50:51.000 And we have no problem praying for absolute truth, absolute justice.
00:50:56.000 We stand before the Lord, all of us, in the mercy seat, not in the judgment seat.
00:51:00.000 For all of us have broken and all of us have sinned.
00:51:03.000 That is distinct from criminality.
00:51:05.000 And by the holy grace of our Lord, we imitate his true authority, the true authority of Melech.
00:51:12.000 The king, Melech is a Hebrew word.
00:51:14.000 I have this beautiful book where I'm praying the names of God and Shafate, I think I'm saying it correctly, is the judge aspect of our Lord God.
00:51:24.000 An aspect of God is that He is a perfect judge.
00:51:27.000 And we pray for that wisdom, of course, not just for me, but for everyone who requires true justice and for everybody involved, certainly in our situation.
00:51:34.000 So you're going to read something from here and then close out with it?
00:51:37.000 Yeah.
00:51:37.000 Why don't you close out with that?
00:51:39.000 No, I'm surprised you've not lost your voice.
00:51:41.000 I've done enough talking.
00:51:44.000 You've got cat dander up your sleeve.
00:51:45.000 I know, I'm so itchy.
00:51:46.000 You're high on cat dander.
00:51:48.000 You've come here high on cat dander.
00:51:50.000 Why have I got cat?
00:51:51.000 Why am I having a reaction now?
00:51:53.000 It must be.
00:51:53.000 I'm not talking about an allergic reaction.
00:51:55.000 It's pumped you up.
00:51:56.000 It's like Rick James.
00:51:58.000 It's like when James Brown was.
00:51:59.000 I was so tired before doing Sunday service today.
00:52:02.000 I was so, so tired.
00:52:03.000 Well, you're not tired now.
00:52:04.000 I'm not.
00:52:04.000 I've not even had any cat food.
00:52:05.000 So when James Brown was on CNN, I'll show a clip.
00:52:08.000 Massive.
00:52:08.000 I feel good.
00:52:10.000 That's me.
00:52:10.000 Specifically him on the news, though.
00:52:12.000 And what are you going to say to your fans when they ask you some questions about it?
00:52:15.000 I'm going to say, I feel good.
00:52:18.000 Papa's got a brand new bag. 1.00
00:52:19.000 It's a man's world. 0.98
00:52:21.000 It's Laura. 0.82
00:52:22.000 Hashem, Hashem, the name of God, his true identity.
00:52:26.000 Do you want me to press out then? 0.85
00:52:27.000 Yeah, press out.
00:52:27.000 And all of you, remember my book, How to Become a Christian in Seven Days, is available.
00:52:31.000 There's a link in the description, should you want it.
00:52:32.000 Thank you for your comments and thank you for your prayers and thank you for your support.
00:52:35.000 We continue to attend this trial and pray for justice for everybody involved.
00:52:40.000 And I tell you, a time like this, your support couldn't be more valuable.
00:52:43.000 Yeah.
00:52:43.000 But we also have the same God, all of us.
00:52:46.000 The people that believe they're in enmity to us in whatever form.
00:52:49.000 Of course, you know what my appraisal of the situation is and know that.
00:52:55.000 You know, we live at a time, perhaps we always have, where the institutions of this world, and in this instance, I'm talking about in particular the media, as I have been for some years.
00:53:08.000 And I pray that through not only our suffering as a family, but through all suffering, we can move closer to the truth of arising in Him for us all.
00:53:20.000 Because, you know, say there's instances where people don't believe in God, might watch this or listen to this, even for the most nefarious and malfeasant.
00:53:29.000 Reasons imaginable.
00:53:30.000 And we pray for them because they are people that he died for.
00:53:35.000 He died on the cross for all of us equally.
00:53:38.000 As it says in James, he has no favorites.
00:53:40.000 He would have died just as easily, says C.S. Lewis, if it had only been you or me.
00:53:44.000 And that goes to even people, one of our cats, bay window, cat leaps over here.
00:53:50.000 He'd just as happily die for the person that's hurt you most in the world as he would die for you or I.
00:53:56.000 To him, we are all available if we only turn to him.
00:54:00.000 He is available to us, I should say.
00:54:02.000 All right, then, let's pray our way out.
00:54:04.000 Yeah, you pray us out.
00:54:06.000 Oh, beloved God, thank you that you support us and thank you that we get to do this.
00:54:11.000 How amazing.
00:54:12.000 What a great gift you have given us.
00:54:14.000 And we pray for everybody watching this.
00:54:17.000 We pray for all people that are suffering.
00:54:19.000 And that ultimately means all people that they will find their way to you, that they will be recipients, as it said in that beautiful book of the mercy that flows from your heart, that we can emulate the model we have shown by your Mary.
00:54:32.000 And turn to you in grace and fullness and submission and total love.
00:54:39.000 This world is not an instrument of your glory.
00:54:43.000 This world is in opposition and clear enmity.
00:54:46.000 The empire, the imitative systems of power, where permanence replaces eternity, where institutions and systems of containment and oppression replace your eternal and spontaneous grace, O holy Jesus Christ.
00:55:01.000 Let us flow like your blood.
00:55:02.000 Let us flow like your mercy through all apparent time.
00:55:07.000 Into the infinite with love for one another, that simplest of things, grounded to the earth, ascending unto you only through your favor and loving one another, Lord, as you on the cross formed this function that we may be reconciled to Him through you, you and He as one, through the Holy Spirit that you have endowed.
00:55:30.000 Amen.
00:55:30.000 Amen.
00:55:31.000 Amen.
00:55:31.000 Amen.
00:55:31.000 Do you know what I'm saying?
00:55:33.000 We love you.
00:55:33.000 We love you so much.
00:55:33.000 Sometimes I think about Ben Stiller, meet the parents.
00:55:38.000 When he has to go, oh, Lord, oh, gracious, Lord, day by day, like he's day by day, by day, by day.
00:55:46.000 Right, so you're going to turn it off then?
00:55:48.000 Yeah, I am.
00:55:49.000 And this is the cat now.
00:55:50.000 I'm imagining.
00:55:51.000 Be with us wherever you're watching this.
00:55:52.000 If you're watching this on X or in full, or Facebook in full, or YouTube in full, or our home rumble in full, please click the link in the description, have a look at my book, and thank you for your support.
00:56:03.000 Praise Jesus.
