00:04:22.700 minimum fee for new paper shopping bags and new reusable shopping bags as well customers must request

00:05:02.220 explainer online this week danielle smith released highly anticipated details of her alberta sovereignty
00:05:06.940 act we've talked about this so many times you guys know what this is by now but for first-time
00:05:10.620 listeners the alberta sovereignty act essentially would bar any federal legislation deemed harmful to
00:05:15.740 alberta and its interest danielle smith has said it could be used to push back federal
00:05:19.740 covid 19 vaccine mandates gun control legislation and bill c69 which of course overhauls the
00:05:26.060 regulatory approval process for major energy projects or as danielle smith calls it the no
00:05:31.580 more building anything in alberta ever again without federal approval bill so here's how the
00:05:36.860 sovereignty act works according to new details released by smith this week smith said each motion

00:06:02.300 motion to be unconstitutional the government and the legislature would decide whether to amend
00:06:07.340 end or continue with a special motion understanding the legal implications such a decision could cause
00:06:13.020 unfortunately for her smith's new details to not appease her opponents four of them banded 0.99

00:06:21.980 travis tabes brian gene rajin sani and leela ahir all attended here's what travis tabes had to say
00:06:27.820 but the sovereignty act is not the way we win it's been pitched as the cure-all for alberta's position
00:06:35.180 within the nation but the act is a false bill of goods that is simply more political bluster
00:06:41.260 will not deliver the expected outcomes and will create anger and disillusionment amongst albertans
00:06:47.580 notably absent from the press conference were rebecca schultz and todd lowen gene said all the
00:06:52.460 candidates were invited except for danielle smith and it was a political decision whether or not to
00:06:57.100 attend following the press conference schultz released a statement saying she doesn't support
00:07:01.260 the act because it quote doesn't do what people say it's going to do end quote she did not say whether
00:07:06.540 she would vote for the sovereignty act if it reached the legislature floor in a video posted to social
00:07:11.340 media lowen said the press conference showed disunity and desperation quote i wish those
00:07:15.980 candidates would stand up against prime minister justin trudeau as strong as they stand up against
00:07:19.740 the sovereignty act end quote all right guys let's end with our alberta politics funny moment of the

00:07:34.460 referencing mount queen elizabeth located on the border of alberta and british columbia
