00:01:00.080 Listen, all you New Yorkers.
00:01:02.560 You mean taxi?
00:01:04.000 Okay, then you want to look around.
00:01:05.300 This is the 77
00:01:07.140 WABC Minicast.
00:01:10.740 A breaking
00:01:11.740 story in New York.
00:01:13.820 Jets cornerback
00:01:15.280 Chris Boyd shot
00:01:16.980 in midtown Manhattan.
00:01:19.000 Oh, well.
00:01:21.140 I don't mean to sound, you know,
00:01:22.920 aloof about it flippant about it but uh it's new york it is new york he was uh i guess out
00:01:33.260 with um friends maybe it was 2 a.m right around 38th street and 7th avenue which is uh to anybody
00:01:41.980 that isn't in new york is midtown manhattan uh right in the center of it you know a lot going
00:01:48.960 on there and um he was shot in the abdomen taken to the hospital he's in serious but stable
00:01:55.300 condition and um you know this this is this is new york i don't mean to make uh people paranoid or
00:02:03.980 or uh want people to think that you have to be paranoid you walk around new york city uh
00:02:10.120 wondering where the shot's going to come from or uh where the pipe is going to be
00:02:15.020 laid across your head but you do have to keep your eyes open your head on the proverbial swivel
00:02:23.120 and pay attention you don't don't be on your phone uh don't talk to anybody anyone who thinks
00:02:34.100 they are gonna make a new friend in midtown manhattan at 2 a.m in 2025 you're out of your
00:02:42.740 gored uh there are no friends to be had you're not finding somebody go i can't believe it 2 a.m
00:02:49.920 new york city and uh this guy is into the same hobbies i am no one out at that hour is up to any
00:03:01.220 good probably the the most innocent people are leaving bars and places uh hammered and that's
00:03:10.160 not a good thing either but you know what it was what are you doing and this guy is a football
00:03:16.800 player he's got a pretty good career i guess i don't know much about him um but why are you
00:03:24.700 he got into an into an altercation with another gentleman uh and that gentleman shot him
00:03:32.360 uh you you can't afford to have any pride when you're walking around in new york city
00:03:41.940 don't uh don't think you can stand up for yourself or get into some kind of an altercation with
00:03:49.400 somebody because the odds that they might do something uh to you either assault you or shoot
00:03:56.960 you and kill you whatever it's it's not out of the question that's for sure uh so what is he doing
00:04:04.820 getting into some type of argument with a man at two in the morning midtown manhattan and he gets 0.99
00:04:12.560 himself shot um the other thing obviously is that new york city hates letting people defend
00:04:21.680 themselves we've seen this before the second amendment is uh just not not viable in in new
00:04:31.740 york city especially new york state's tough enough but new york city good luck they went to court
00:04:38.660 the supreme court actually ruled that the way new york city was was uh you they didn't have to give
00:04:47.260 you a pistol permit you could fill out all the paperwork jump through all their hoops pass it
00:04:53.320 with flying colors never had any uh not even a traffic ticket and they could turn around and go
00:04:58.680 no nope you don't need one well i don't think um the constitution is based on what we need
00:05:10.120 these are god-given rights that we have uh how could you tell me i am not allowed
00:05:18.640 to uh exercise my second amendment right in your fair city so that went on for quite some time but
00:05:27.380 the supreme court finally ruled that they can't do that a safer ontario means more police and
00:05:33.480 prosecutors making sure my card doesn't get stolen it means building new jails to keep criminals
00:05:38.700 behind bars and it means there's no need to worry when i play at the park we're making every corner
00:05:44.720 of ontario safer to make all of ontario safer that's how we protect ontario for all of us
00:05:51.240 learn how at ontario.ca safer ontario paid for by the government of ontario
00:05:56.800 so people with new york state pistol permits were now able to go into new york city
00:06:07.320 you used to have to get an attachment it was called i lived out on long island for many years
00:06:13.540 and i wanted uh to be able to carry a gun in new york city where i worked and i had to pay
00:06:20.240 thousands and thousands of dollars and jump through so many hoops and every single traffic
00:06:27.960 ticket i had gotten my entire life had to be documented and and i needed knowledge as to how
00:06:36.760 those traffic violations were disposed of what happened there oh i paid a fine everything and
00:06:44.940 if you get something wrong they deny you and you go back on the bottom of the one year long waiting
00:06:51.520 list so i went through all this i hired a lawyer to do it for me uh the lawyer wound up getting in
00:06:59.040 trouble many years later for bribing the uh officials at one police plaza that actually
00:07:06.860 give out the pistol permits so the whole thing was corrupt anyway that's probably where my
00:07:14.480 thousands of dollars i paid the lawyer went to was bribing the officials to get my permit
00:07:20.380 um whatever the case may be i did get my permit and i was allowed to carry
00:07:26.360 in New York City, which no one was legally allowed to carry.
00:07:30.760 There were plenty of people carrying.
00:07:32.720 They're called criminals. 1.00
00:07:35.860 They're thugs. 1.00
00:07:37.800 They're violent felons. 1.00
00:07:39.880 They're allowed.
00:07:41.140 Not really allowed, but no one does much about it.
00:07:43.620 And that's most likely who shot Chris Boyd of the New York Jets late last night.
00:07:53.980 so you know they don't want you protecting yourself they always say that uh if if you allow
00:08:03.060 people to carry firearms that it's going to be the wild west ah yes you know what the wild west had
00:08:12.560 it was called uh cold 45s the pistols they were known as peacekeepers the peacekeeper the cold
00:08:19.720 45 people would go what what does that mean why are you calling a deadly weapon a weapon a peace
00:08:25.720 keeper because it gave you equal power to anyone else that had a peacemaker or reasonable facsimile
00:08:36.920 thereof so there was a certain balance of power a detente in place and um you know the government
00:08:47.020 to the first people that start screaming that you don't need weapons
00:08:50.680 and it just makes things more violent
00:08:54.340 and more people get shot, and that's just not true.
00:08:58.620 And the government itself, back during the Cold War,
00:09:02.440 there was a balance of power, a detente with
00:09:06.360 the Soviet Union and the United States. Mutually assured 0.94
00:09:10.660 destruction. You're pointing nuclear missiles at each other.
00:09:14.760 Both sides know that if they jump the gun and try something, the other side is just going to do what they do.
00:09:23.040 And the peacekeeper in the Old West was based on that.
00:09:29.080 And these days, an armed population is a polite population.
00:09:34.080 And I'm talking about people, legal, law-abiding citizens that are exercising their Second Amendment right.
