Over the 4th of July weekend, Sound of Freedom shocked many by closely contesting the latest Indiana Jones movie for the top spot at the box office. Instead, as if some kind of order had been issued to leftist outlets simultaneously, a flurry of hit pieces suddenly appeared to denounce the movie as red meat for QAnon conspiracy theorists.

00:00:30.380 Over the 4th of July weekend, Sound of Freedom shocked many by closely contesting the latest
00:00:35.560 Indiana Jones movie for the top spot at the box office.
00:00:39.340 The relatively low-budget film from independent Angel Studios stars Passion of the Christ actor
00:00:44.880 Jim Caviezel and is based on the story of Tim Ballard, a former Department of Homeland security
00:00:50.060 agent, and his quest to stop child sex traffickers.
00:00:53.800 A small indie movie with a powerful message about victimization going toe-to-toe with a
00:00:59.240 major box office titan?
00:01:01.420 This is the kind of story journalists should be lining up to write glowing celebratory pieces
00:01:05.480 about.
00:01:06.660 Instead, as if some kind of order had been issued to all the most vile leftist outlets simultaneously,
00:01:12.940 a flurry of hit pieces suddenly appeared to denounce the movie as red meat for QAnon conspiracy
00:01:18.800 theorists.
00:01:19.800 Journalists hated the movie for a simple and very telling reason.
00:01:25.360 They've managed to code opposition to child sex trafficking as a radical right-wing position.
00:01:32.540 Outlets like Rolling Stone, Jezebel, The Washington Post, and The Guardian fell into immediate lockstep,
00:01:39.540 framing the box office upset not as a David and Goliath story for the ages, but as evidence
00:01:44.860 that dangerous right-wing conspiracy theories have seized the minds of the movie-going public.
00:01:49.900 Each article made sure to use phrases like QAnon-tinged, despite never linking any content from the movie
00:01:57.840 itself to the fringe movement.
00:02:00.660 Rolling Stone described the film as a superhero movie for dads with brain worms, while The Guardian
00:02:05.920 accused the movie of seducing America.
00:02:09.620 Just for context, Rolling Stone famously defended the French movie Cuties against charges of child
00:02:15.600 sexualization back in 2020, praising the movie as a sensitive portrayal of growing pains.
00:02:22.080 The writers who did attend a showing of Sound of Freedom for their article treated the experience
00:02:26.560 like a trip to the zoo, taking every opportunity to mock the backward yet dangerous nature of the 1.00
00:02:32.420 GOP voting plebs who were absorbing conspiracy theory-laced marching orders from their clan-hooded
00:02:38.260 overlords.
00:02:39.640 The breathless journalists were desperate to frame the film as birth of a nation for the disgruntled
00:02:45.180 Trump voter, a cartoonish depiction of hate designed to whip up the latent violent tendency
00:02:50.120 of a conspiracy-addled public.
00:02:53.600 Sound of Freedom actually started life as a major studio project that was originally produced
00:02:58.760 by 20th Century Fox and finished back in 2018.
00:03:02.840 Despite being completed and ready for distribution, the film was shelved after Fox was acquired by
00:03:08.880 the Walt Disney Company in 2019, with the new owners refusing to release the movie.
00:03:14.420 As we all know now, Disney later became embroiled in controversy after battling Florida governor
00:03:19.540 Ron DeSantis over a child protection bill, going so far as to ban employees from using boy and
00:03:25.820 girl in order to be more inclusive of trans kids.
00:03:29.560 Footage from journalist Chris Ruffo would also reveal an internal Disney struggle session in which
00:03:35.060 one television producer bragged about her not-so-secret gay agenda and her efforts to force LGBTQ plus 0.93
00:03:42.360 characters into children's programming at every opportunity.
00:03:46.060 I'm sure that none of these facts has any connection to the decision Disney made to shelve an already
00:03:52.240 completed movie warning people about child sex trafficking.
00:03:56.520 The entertainment giant is also the parent company of Lucasfilms, the producers of Indiana Jones
00:04:02.120 and the Dial of Destiny, the film that Sound of Freedom would eventually do battle with
00:04:06.620 at the box office.
00:04:08.460 I just got to see Sound of Freedom for myself, and I can say that it was very well made.
00:04:13.920 And the film has also been getting rave reviews.
00:04:15.740 What's better than a well-marbled ribeye sizzling on the barbecue?
00:04:20.420 A well-marbled ribeye sizzling on the barbecue that was carefully selected by an Instacart
00:04:25.140 shopper and delivered to your door.
00:04:27.160 A well-marbled ribeye you ordered without even leaving the kiddie pool.
00:04:31.620 Whatever groceries your summer calls for, Instacart has you covered.
00:04:35.780 Download the Instacart app and enjoy $0 delivery fees on your first three orders.
00:04:40.640 Service fees, exclusions, and terms apply.
00:04:43.320 Instacart.
00:04:44.260 Groceries that over-deliver.
00:04:46.540 Despite the attempt to manufacture controversy by the mainstream press, the movie stands at
00:04:51.820 a 76% fresh rating among critics and a 99% fresh rating with audiences on the popular movie
00:04:58.480 rating website Rotten Tomatoes.
00:05:00.940 This is made all the more impressive by the fact that Rotten Tomatoes is infamous for its
00:05:05.260 political bias, often creating a large differential between favorable fan ratings and the scores
00:05:11.120 of reviewers who punish films with the wrong political opinions.
00:05:15.640 Successful faith-based films with questionable quality and production often rely on the favorable
00:05:21.300 disposition of a devoted audience, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Sound of Freedom.
00:05:27.160 Honest critics who might not like the political leanings of the target audience are still awarding
00:05:32.040 the film favorable reviews and commending its message.
00:05:35.240 Child trafficking is not some delusional conspiracy theory manufactured online.
00:05:41.760 At least 1.2 million children are trafficked every year worldwide, over 18,000 in the U.S.
00:05:49.400 alone.
00:05:50.520 Immigrant children are some of the most likely victims, and drug cartels are notoriously active
00:05:55.520 in the child sex trafficking business, often using minors as cover to enter the country
00:06:00.400 before selling them to the highest bidder.
00:06:02.920 I wish this didn't need to be said, but apparently it does.
00:06:06.760 This is the most heinous type of crime imaginable, and those who commit it should face swift public
00:06:13.000 execution after being found guilty by a jury of their peers.
00:06:17.160 Progressives are quick to use children as political props, speaking about the need to protect the
00:06:21.840 future of children by funneling more money to failing schools or the latest green energy
00:06:26.540 boondoggle.
00:06:27.220 But when it comes to protecting children from sex trafficking, the left has nothing but
00:06:31.960 condemnation for those who would bring awareness to the issue.
00:06:36.280 Leftism has a very serious optics problem.
00:06:39.580 The progressive revolution has devoured most of our social fabric and demolished the moral
00:06:44.420 guardrails meant to protect society from its darkest appetites in the pursuit of power.
00:06:50.440 Child sacrifice and mutilation now stand as the twin pillars of the progressive movement.
00:06:56.600 The normalization of transgressive sexual identities has become one of the premier leftist goals,
00:07:02.840 and exposing minors to those identities at the youngest age possible is the key to normalization.
00:07:09.120 Even if sexualization of children wasn't the primary goal of activists, it would still be 0.96
00:07:13.940 essential to advancing their agenda.
00:07:16.380 But of course it is one of their goals, and you can tell because adults exposing themselves
00:07:21.380 to children at pride parades has now become both common and legal.
00:07:26.420 Progressive journalists reacted to Sound of Freedom and its desire to raise awareness about
00:07:31.220 the evils of child sex trafficking as a personal attack, because for them, it was.
00:07:37.840 Ultimately, while most progressive journalists would never say it out loud, they hate Sound of
00:07:42.300 Freedom because the wrong type of people like it.
00:07:44.960 Donald Trump, whatever his many flaws, broke the media in ways that are still sending them
00:07:50.680 into fits of utter derangement to this very day.
00:07:54.720 Leftist elites have always struggled to maintain a thin veneer of civility over their utter contempt
00:08:00.340 for red America.
00:08:01.500 But when Trump forged populist energy into a campaign that secured lasting changes in institutions
00:08:07.020 like the Supreme Court, progressives lost every ounce of their remaining self-control.
00:08:12.100 Leftists are sure that they have the right to rule.
00:08:15.980 They know that the plebs are dangerous, and they believe that anything short of total control 1.00
00:08:20.760 of the government and the culture stands as an existential threat to the progressive order
00:08:25.420 they've created.
00:08:26.680 They're right about the last part.
00:08:29.240 The progressives will instinctively and rabidly attack anything leftists perceive as being supported
00:08:35.120 by the MAGA crowd, even if it happens to be a movie warning of the unspeakable horrors
00:08:40.780 visited on immigrant children by the sex trade.
00:08:44.540 America is in a dark and deeply divided place when opposition to one of the most heinous crimes
00:08:50.160 imaginable is seen as a political act.
00:08:53.080 But achieving this level of clarity is critical.
00:08:56.280 Against all odds, there are many who still believe that America is simply engaged in another
00:09:01.380 mild disagreement about policy that will be resolved with pithy arguments and the accumulation
00:09:06.360 of sound policy proposals.
00:09:09.080 When the media rip off the mask the way they have over sound of freedom, it becomes more
00:09:14.020 difficult to pretend we are still experiencing the normal ebbs and flows of civil disagreement.
