00:00:00.000 President Biden triumphantly announces America's surrender in Afghanistan as the Taliban reimpose dystopian theocracy and murder our erstwhile allies.
00:00:08.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:00:18.000 Protect your online privacy today at expressvpn.com.
00:00:21.000 Slash Ben, well if you are worried about everything running directly into the mud, one of the things you might think about doing is diversifying your portfolio.
00:00:28.000 That means getting at least some precious metals.
00:00:31.000 In their recent budget proposal, the White House Budget Office forecast inflation for 2021 at 2.1%.
00:00:34.000 In June, the actual inflation rate was 5.4%.
00:00:39.000 The point?
00:00:40.000 Inflation is here.
00:00:41.000 It is coming faster than the government was prepared for.
00:00:43.000 Their solution is to spend a lot more money.
00:00:45.000 So, don't stick your head in the sand the same way they are.
00:00:47.000 Instead, hedge your savings against inflation by diversifying into gold and silver with Birch Gold Group.
00:00:52.000 If you haven't reached out to Birch Gold to diversify part of your IRA or 401k into a precious metals IRA, go ahead and do it today.
00:00:58.000 Text BEN to 474747 and get a free information kit on protecting your savings with gold.
00:01:04.000 I buy my gold from Birch Gold.
00:01:05.000 They've got an A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.
00:01:07.000 Countless five-star reviews.
00:01:08.000 Thousands of happy customers.
00:01:09.000 Talk to them.
00:01:10.000 Have them help you safeguard your retirement savings.
00:01:12.000 Text Ben to 474747 today to claim your free no-obligation information kit and to speak with a precious metals expert on holding gold and silver in a tax-sheltered account.
00:01:21.000 Again, text my name, Ben, to 474747 to get started and protect your savings from the predations of the central government today.
00:01:29.000 Alrighty.
00:01:30.000 We are watching, in real time, the worst American foreign policy debacle of my lifetime.
00:01:35.000 Now, admittedly, I was born in 1984, so I do not remember the pullout from Saigon in 1975, but this is easily the worst foreign policy debacle since then.
00:01:44.000 Probably it is worse than that, because, remember, At least it can be said of the Viet Cong that they didn't, you know, attack the Empire State Building in 1955.
00:01:52.000 The Taliban sheltered the people who took down the World Trade Centers and attacked the Pentagon on 9-11, and now we are turning the country back over to them.
00:02:01.000 And what's most incredible about this is that our doddering fool of a president, and he is a fool, He did this for no reason.
00:02:08.000 None.
00:02:08.000 There was no rational reason for him to do what he did.
00:02:11.000 Certainly not in the way that he did it.
00:02:13.000 Even if you think we shouldn't be in Afghanistan, which, as we'll talk about, I think is a foolhardy idea.
00:02:17.000 But even if you believe that, there was a way to do this that was at least somewhat organized.
00:02:22.000 Biden didn't do any of that.
00:02:23.000 Instead, Biden, because he is an ideological idiot, decided that he would run his ideology directly up against the brick wall of reality.
00:02:32.000 Now, I will say I'm amused to see how many people In the commentary, I seem shocked by the idiocy of Joe Biden.
00:02:41.000 So, for example, Politico Europe has an entire piece about how people in Europe can't believe how bad Biden is at this.
00:02:48.000 Quote, Disbelief and betrayal.
00:02:50.000 Europe reacts to Biden's Afghanistan, quote, unquote, miscalculation.
00:02:53.000 The first line of this piece reads, quote, Until Sunday, Europe thought Joe Biden was an expert on foreign policy.
00:02:58.000 Well, I guess all I can take away from that is that Europe is filled with clinical morons.
00:03:03.000 Because who in the world thought Joe Biden was an expert on foreign policy?
00:03:05.000 He's not been right on a single major foreign policy issue for his entire career.
00:03:10.000 And now that he occupies the Oval Office, that's a very dangerous thing.
00:03:13.000 See, the thing is about the Presidency, the Presidency has to negotiate with Congress.
00:03:17.000 The Presidency has to work through the Supreme Court.
00:03:19.000 The Presidency on domestic policy has at least some checks and balances, including state-level authorities that come into conflict with the federal government.
00:03:26.000 When it comes to foreign policy, the Presidency, the executive branch, has nearly plenary power.
00:03:30.000 And that means that if the President of the United States decides to unilaterally undermine American foreign policy in unique and depressing ways, he can do it.
00:03:39.000 Joe Biden was fully committed to the idea that he was going to pull out of Afghanistan, damned be the consequences.
00:03:45.000 And the consequences are here and they are hideous.
00:03:47.000 You're going to see tens of thousands of erstwhile American allies slaughtered in the streets in Afghanistan.
00:03:52.000 You're going to see people who are abandoned to the predations of the Taliban.
00:03:55.000 You're going to see a geopolitical collapse around this.
00:03:58.000 There are real consequences to this that are not limited to Afghanistan.
00:04:01.000 We'll get into that.
00:04:02.000 OK, so all of that said, Joe Biden Yesterday, he gave a speech.
00:04:07.000 And his speech was supposed to lay out the rationale for this.
00:04:09.000 Remember, he was off in Camp David.
00:04:11.000 He had called a lid.
00:04:12.000 Joe Biden had no plans to actually speak to the American public until, like, Wednesday or Thursday.
00:04:17.000 Because, after all, Joe Biden was eating ice cream and watching Matlock up in Camp David.
00:04:21.000 He couldn't be bothered.
00:04:23.000 All he did over the weekend was release a photo of himself, a pathetic-looking photo of himself, alone in the Situation Room, talking via conference call with all of the generals who had already advised him not to do this.
00:04:33.000 And then monitoring the collapse of Afghanistan in real time.
00:04:36.000 Well, finally, he flew back to Washington, D.C.
00:04:39.000 He did a little speech at the White House.
00:04:41.000 And then he took like three questions and then he left.
00:04:44.000 And that was it.
00:04:45.000 Because here's the thing about your caring, grandfatherly, empathetic, old man president.
00:04:50.000 He does not give one damn about the people we made promises to.
00:04:55.000 He doesn't care that Americans are still stuck in Afghanistan right now.
00:04:59.000 Somewhere between five and ten thousand of them.
00:05:01.000 He does not care that tens of thousands, when I say tens of thousands, I mean probably at least a hundred thousand people are connected To the Afghan government, who are our allies, people who worked on intelligence with us, people who served in the Afghan military, with the United States military, and their families.
00:05:16.000 Those people are stuck there.
00:05:18.000 And they will remain stuck there.
00:05:19.000 And Joe Biden does not give a bleep.
00:05:22.000 For Captain Humanitarian Policy over here, it turns out he doesn't care.
00:05:26.000 It doesn't matter one iota to him.
00:05:28.000 Because in the end, he's just a venal, corrupt old politician.
00:05:31.000 That's all he is.
00:05:32.000 That's all he ever was.
00:05:33.000 He was never Captain Empathy.
00:05:35.000 Now, I've said a thousand times that you should not look to politicians for empathy.
00:05:40.000 If you're looking to politicians for empathy, you're looking in the wrong place.
00:05:43.000 Because politics shouldn't be about empathy.
00:05:45.000 Politics should be about making hard-headed decisions.
00:05:47.000 But that's the thing.
00:05:49.000 Joe Biden's decision here wasn't even hard-headed realpolitik.
00:05:52.000 It was not a realist foreign policy decision.
00:05:55.000 His decision here was very simple.
00:05:56.000 He was going to abandon Afghanistan, come hell or high water.
00:06:00.000 And hell and high water have come.
00:06:02.000 Hey, so he made the speech yesterday and it was notable for its complete lack of honesty.
00:06:07.000 The number of lies that Joe Biden told in the speech, it beggars the imagination.
00:06:11.000 The number of prevarications, the self-congrat.
00:06:15.000 I've never seen a president congratulate himself on a greater failure than this.
00:06:19.000 This is as though Gerald Ford had called the presser.
00:06:22.000 After the abandonment of Saigon and then congratulated himself for his bravery in abandoning millions of people to the evils of the Viet Cong.
00:06:31.000 Remember, Afghanistan, by the way, is 38 million people live in Afghanistan.
00:06:36.000 But that's exactly what Joe Biden did.
00:06:38.000 Joe Biden did a press conference where he blamed every single person other than himself.
00:06:41.000 Everyone, as we will see.
00:06:43.000 He blamed everyone for the decision that he alone made in precipitous fashion against the advice of his generals, against the advice of his intelligence authorities, against the advice of all prior presidents.
00:06:53.000 He made this call.
00:06:54.000 He owns this call.
00:06:55.000 But he tried to blame everybody else and he patted himself on the back as a man of high moral character for having abandoned people the United States made commitments to.
00:07:04.000 We're running out of allies to betray here.
00:07:06.000 We've betrayed the Kurds.
00:07:08.000 We've betrayed the people of Hong Kong.
00:07:10.000 We've done nothing for the dissidents in Iran.
00:07:12.000 We've done nothing for the dissidents in Cuba.
00:07:13.000 And now, we've allowed people who we actively engaged with, people we actively encouraged to fight back against the Taliban.
00:07:20.000 And by the way, they did.
00:07:22.000 50,000, five zero thousand, 50,000 Afghan military members have been killed in the last seven years alone fighting against the Taliban.
00:07:29.000 So when you hear all these people saying the Afghan military wasn't willing to fight, we were fighting their war for them.
00:07:35.000 The United States has not been in an active combat role in Afghanistan since 2014, when NATO officially stopped doing that.
00:07:44.000 Last year, since February 8th, 2020, the United States has not lost a soldier in combat.
00:07:51.000 Not one.
00:07:52.000 And we were losing either low double digits or single digits numbers of soldiers in combat in Afghanistan year on year since 2014.
00:08:01.000 Meanwhile, the Afghan military was taking tens of thousands of casualties.
00:08:05.000 So the notion that the Afghan military has been doing nothing over the past few years is just a lie.
00:08:09.000 We'll discuss that in just a second, because again, Joe Biden blamed the Afghan military for decisions he himself made.
00:08:16.000 But we begin at the beginning with Joe Biden's pathetic, mewling, disgusting speech.
00:08:21.000 I mean, this is really one of the most disreputable speeches I've ever seen an American president give.
00:08:25.000 It is despicable.
00:08:26.000 It is morally despicable.
00:08:28.000 It is a despicable lie through and through.
00:08:31.000 So let's start at the beginning.
00:08:32.000 First, he starts with an open lie.
00:08:33.000 He says he made contingency plans for this.
00:08:35.000 Bullshit.
00:08:36.000 No, he did not.
00:08:37.000 He didn't even come close to making contingency plans for this.
00:08:40.000 Here is Joe Biden just lying right out the gate here.
00:08:44.000 My national security team and I have been closely monitoring the situation on the ground in Afghanistan and moving quickly to execute the plans we had put in place to respond to every constituency, including and contingency, including the rapid collapse we're seeing now.
00:09:03.000 Okay, you had no plans for the rapid collapse we're seeing now.
00:09:05.000 In fact, Joe Biden would later admit that.
00:09:07.000 By the way, what were those plans exactly?
00:09:09.000 I mean, let's go through what's exactly been happening in Afghanistan over the last several days.
00:09:15.000 Remember, this administration said that the Taliban would not take over the country, period, as of July.
00:09:21.000 Antony Blinken said, like a few weeks ago, there would be no situation in which the Taliban, over the course of a weekend, took over Afghanistan, which is basically what they did.
00:09:30.000 Took about a week, like a week and a half.
00:09:32.000 From them taking over the third biggest city in Afghanistan, to then taking over Kandahar, to then taking over Kabul.
00:09:40.000 I mean, let's just go through this.
00:09:41.000 We saw, over the weekend, helicopters taking off from the roof of the U.S.
00:09:44.000 Embassy, evacuating U.S.
00:09:46.000 Embassy personnel.
00:09:48.000 Did he have a contingency plan for that?
00:09:50.000 We saw Afghans rushing the airport.
00:09:53.000 Now remember, this is because the United States decided to abandon Bagram airbase to the predations of the Taliban.
00:09:59.000 So we had no military airbase from which to fly people out.
00:10:04.000 Only the Kabul airport was available.
00:10:06.000 And the United States did not have enough people there to defend the Kabul airport.
00:10:08.000 So people were just rushing the tarmac.
00:10:11.000 You can see the Afghans climbing the walls, attempting to get in.
00:10:16.000 I mean, this video.
00:10:17.000 Afghans.
00:10:18.000 I mean, this is stunning footage.
00:10:20.000 Afghans running along with the U.S.
00:10:21.000 Air Force plane.
00:10:23.000 Clinging to the wings of the plane.
00:10:26.000 Clinging to the wings.
00:10:27.000 Was that the contingency plan, Mr. President?
00:10:30.000 Those are human beings.
00:10:32.000 Sitting.
00:10:34.000 Okay, this one is the most egregious of all, obviously.
00:10:36.000 You can see.
00:10:36.000 You see that dot falling right there?
00:10:38.000 Those two dots falling right there?
00:10:39.000 Those are people.
00:10:40.000 Those are human beings.
00:10:42.000 This entire debacle began with human beings jumping from the Twin Towers on 9-11 after Al-Qaeda, based in Afghanistan, harbored by the Taliban, hit the Twin Towers.
00:10:51.000 And now this debacle ends with Afghans falling from the wheels of American planes.
00:10:55.000 Those Afghans climbed into the wheels of the American planes to try and escape the theocratic tyranny of the Taliban.
00:11:03.000 By the way, another story from Politico today.
00:11:05.000 Body of dead Afghan found in landing gear of military jet leaving Kabul airport.
00:11:11.000 The body of an Afghan so desperate to escape the country hours after Kabul fell to the Taliban was found in the landing gear of a C-17 transport aircraft hours after it hastily took off from Hamid Karzai International Airport, according to two sources familiar with the matter.
00:11:25.000 The body in the aircraft's landing gear has made it temporarily inoperable, the sources said.
00:11:28.000 By the way, some seven people were killed on the tarmac because of the rush on the tarmac.
00:11:37.000 Apparently, the Taliban are now going house to house and killing people.
00:11:40.000 That's the follow-up.
00:11:41.000 Bill Kristol tweeted this out.
00:11:42.000 He's been receiving texts from people in Afghanistan.
00:11:44.000 By the way, I'm getting emails from people desperately trying to get the Afghan interpreters they worked with, members of the military, who are now in the United States, trying to get members of the Afghan military who they worked with, their translators, people they worked with in the military, out of Afghanistan and receiving no support from the Biden administration in doing this.
00:11:59.000 I'm getting emails about it.
00:12:01.000 Bill Kristol tweeted out, I just got off the phone with somebody who recently returned from his third tour in Afghanistan.
00:12:06.000 He emphasized we had a responsibility, not just to translators, but to Afghan troops, pilots and special forces in particular, who'd fought bravely by our side.
00:12:14.000 And he continued by pointing out that he had received a text, quote, terrorists are going door to door and killing pilots and special operating forces, raping their families, taking their houses.
00:12:25.000 Two of my friends were shot dead in Kabul.
00:12:29.000 Meanwhile, just in case you didn't know what the Taliban are up to, they've also been painting out the images of women.
00:12:34.000 If there are any images of women in Kabul, they're going around with white paints and they're painting over them to make sure that women are never seen again.
00:12:41.000 That was the contingency plan from Joe Biden.
00:12:44.000 He said that right out of the gate in this speech.
00:12:47.000 That was his opening gambit, was we had a contingency plan.
00:12:51.000 It's a hell of a contingency plan right there.
00:12:53.000 That was just the beginning of the lies.
00:12:54.000 We'll get to more in one second.
00:12:55.000 First, let's talk for a second about a simple fact.

00:14:01.000 Alrighty, meanwhile.
00:14:02.000 Joe Biden continues, and he talks about, he makes the case that the United States actually accomplished its goal in Afghanistan.
00:14:10.000 Okay, well, not really.
00:14:13.000 I mean, here's the thing.
00:14:15.000 In order for us to accomplish our goal in Afghanistan, our goal in Afghanistan was pretty clear, right?
00:14:21.000 Our goal in Afghanistan was that we were supposed to counter terrorism.
00:14:24.000 In order to do that, we have to continue to counter terrorism.
00:14:26.000 And when you stop countering terrorism, you've no longer achieved your goal.
00:14:30.000 Here is Joe Biden.
00:14:32.000 We went to Afghanistan almost 20 years ago with clear goals.
00:14:37.000 Get those who attacked us on September 11, 2001, and make sure al Qaeda could not use Afghanistan as a base from which to attack us again.
00:14:48.000 We did that.
00:14:50.000 We severely degraded al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
00:14:53.000 We never gave up the hunt for Osama bin Laden, and we got him.
00:14:58.000 That was a decade ago.
00:15:02.000 Okay, now here's the problem.
00:15:04.000 How about the fact that you just reconstituted the possibility of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan?
00:15:08.000 According to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, he informed Congress terror groups are likely to reconstitute in Afghanistan within the next two years.
00:15:15.000 High probability.
00:15:16.000 According to Dr. Sajjan Goho of the Asia Pacific Foundation, quoted by the BBC, there are some 250 to 500 members of Al-Qaeda in Kunar, which is a heavily forested valley region of Afghanistan.
00:15:26.000 Right now, we were able to monitor that place and we were able to fight with them.
00:15:29.000 No longer.
00:15:30.000 Gohan now says the number is likely to increase, given the United States' lack of access to any intelligence network and its surrender of all air bases in Afghanistan.
00:15:39.000 Also, Pakistan has now cut a quid pro quo with the Taliban to now reject U.S.
00:15:44.000 bases on Pakistani territory.
00:15:45.000 So we can't even use Pakistani territory to launch attacks against the Taliban or against al-Qaeda.
00:15:51.000 Which means we are back to shooting camels in the ass with cruise missiles, Bill Clinton style from 1998.
00:15:57.000 So it's pretty likely that terrorist groups are about to reconstitute quickly in Afghanistan.
00:16:01.000 And I know that we live in the post 9-11 era.
00:16:03.000 I know that 9-11 was sort of a blip in a lot of people's imaginations.
00:16:06.000 It was 20 years ago after all.
00:16:08.000 But let's just remember that things that happen in far-off countries can have some rather radical impact in the United States.
00:16:13.000 Just a reminder, this is why we went into Afghanistan in the first place.
00:16:16.000 This right here.
00:16:17.000 I know we don't play this footage very often anymore.
00:16:25.000 I know we're not supposed to, because it's upsetting, and disquieting, and shocking, still, 20 years later.
00:16:32.000 That's the reason we went to Afghanistan.
00:16:34.000 Because 3,000 Americans were murdered on September 11th by people the Taliban were harboring.
00:16:41.000 Hey, that's why we were there in the damn first place.
00:16:43.000 And those same people are just ushered back into power by Joe Biden.
00:16:47.000 Ushered back into power with no capacity.
00:16:49.000 The United States just destroyed its own capacity to wage war on these people.
00:16:55.000 That's what the United States just did.
00:16:57.000 By the way, the Taliban, you know, there's this myth out there being being portrayed and and perverted by the by the Biden administration that the Taliban is moderated.
00:17:06.000 Really interesting, because like two years ago, the Taliban chief spokesperson was saying, you know, Al Qaeda wasn't even behind 9-11.
00:17:12.000 This is on CBS this morning from just a couple of years ago.
00:17:15.000 More stunning was Shaheen's refusal to accept Al Qaeda's responsibility for the September 11th attacks.
00:17:22.000 So who's the real culprit behind that?
00:17:24.000 So that was not known.
00:17:26.000 Who?
00:17:27.000 Still it is not known.
00:17:28.000 Who was behind that?
00:17:29.000 Al Qaeda.
00:17:30.000 They claimed responsibility.
00:17:31.000 No.
00:17:32.000 If there is proof given to us, we are ready to try him.
00:17:40.000 So that was just two years ago.
00:17:42.000 The Taliban saying it was not al-Qaeda.
00:17:43.000 By the way, that was their original line as well.
00:17:45.000 You will recall.
00:17:46.000 So now they're back in power.
00:17:47.000 They're not just back in power.
00:17:48.000 They now have control of billions of dollars of U.S.
00:17:51.000 military equipment, including mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, drones, Humvees.
00:17:57.000 They have a lot of American intel.
00:17:58.000 We didn't burn our stuff before we left.
00:18:00.000 They have all that stuff because Joe Biden decided to pull out with no plan, with no forethought, because he is a moron.
00:18:07.000 He is a dead-set idiot.
00:18:10.000 I mean, either that or he's perverse.
00:18:12.000 I mean, those are really the only two choices.
00:18:14.000 And using Hanlon's razor here, I will always say somebody is stupid rather than perverse.
00:18:19.000 But this is stupidity bordering on the perverse.
00:18:22.000 OK, then Joe Biden started to make his excuses.
00:18:26.000 So his first excuse, the first excuse that he used here was that our mission was never about nation building.
00:18:32.000 It was always about fighting terror.
00:18:34.000 Yes, but as we've just established, you're not fighting terror anymore.
00:18:36.000 That's the whole point.
00:18:38.000 And I will say it is not entirely Joe Biden's fault that there was mission creep here, right?
00:18:42.000 I mean, there was mission creep from the very beginning, as we'll explore.
00:18:44.000 Here is Joe Biden perverting what exactly the Afghan war was about in order to make the case for us withdrawing, even though there really is no logical reason for us to do what we are doing right now.
00:18:56.000 Our mission in Afghanistan was never supposed to have been nation building.
00:19:00.000 It was never supposed to be creating a unified, centralized democracy.
00:19:05.000 Our only vital national interest in Afghanistan remains today what it has always been.
00:19:11.000 Preventing a terrorist attack on American homeland.
00:19:16.000 OK, and then he, you know, he continued along those lines.
00:19:19.000 OK, so here's the thing.
00:19:20.000 He's correct.
00:19:21.000 Originally, the mission in Afghanistan had nothing to do with humanitarian missions.
00:19:25.000 Right.
00:19:26.000 Here is George W. Bush.
00:19:27.000 A long time ago now is from October of 2001, October 11, 2001, announcing that we are now at war in Afghanistan.
00:19:34.000 Right.
00:19:34.000 Listen to how he describes the mission.
00:19:37.000 The attack took place on American soil, but it was an attack on the heart and soul of the civilized world.
00:19:48.000 And the world has come together to fight a new and different war.
00:19:53.000 The first, and we hope the only one, of the 21st century.
00:19:59.000 A war against all those who seek to export terror and a war against those governments that support or shelter them.
00:20:09.000 Okay, now, the mission creep began pretty quickly, because the United States always has a tendency to move from realpolitik to sort of Wilsonian foreign policy.
00:20:16.000 And immediately to move from, we need to take out the bad guys, to, well, what if we could also build democracy there?
00:20:21.000 And historically speaking, one of the bulwarks that the United States has used to actually solidify places has been democracy, whether you're talking about Germany, whether you're talking about South Korea, whether you're talking about Japan, right?
00:20:30.000 Very often, the United States does build democracies in its wake.
00:20:34.000 In places that have not been hospitable to democracy before.
00:20:37.000 Including Nazi Germany.
00:20:38.000 Including Japan.
00:20:40.000 Right?
00:20:40.000 Over the course of decades of occupation.
00:20:43.000 But the mission creep itself opened the door to the counter argument, which is we shouldn't be there in the first place.
00:20:48.000 Remember, we went there to fight terror, and then there was a bit of mission creep.
00:20:51.000 And so people started defining the mission, not around fighting terror in the minds of the American public, but instead around the mission of fostering democracy in an inhospitable place.
00:21:00.000 So listen to how George W. Bush in his farewell address, for example, in January of 2009, linked together these two things, right?
00:21:07.000 Fighting Al Qaeda, and also at the same time, fostering democracy.
00:21:12.000 Afghanistan has gone from a nation where the Taliban harbored Al-Qaeda and stoned women in the streets to a young democracy that is fighting terror and encouraging girls to go to school.
00:21:24.000 Okay, now this opened the door, obviously, to counter-arguments, which is like, we shouldn't be in Afghanistan at all, we can't do a nation-building project there, which is not entirely incorrect.
00:21:34.000 But that was an argument made by both Barack Obama and Donald Trump, right?
00:21:38.000 It was an argument that was commonly made.
00:21:41.000 We can't be there for nation building, but here is the difference between Barack Obama and Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
00:21:46.000 Barack Obama and Donald Trump both had a baseline understanding that a precipitous pullout from Afghanistan was a foolish thing to do.
00:21:56.000 An endlessly stupid thing to do.
00:21:58.000 I don't have a lot of kind words to say about Barack Obama.
00:22:01.000 Obama knew this better than Biden because he wasn't a dumbass, like a full-scale dumbass.
00:22:06.000 You'll get to more of this in just one second.
00:22:08.000 First, let us talk about a simple fact.
00:22:11.000 You need life insurance.

00:22:14.000 And God forbid you're walking down the street and suddenly a pack of rabbit hyenas attacks you or something.

00:23:08.000 Head on over to policygenius.com slash Shapiro to get started right now.
00:23:12.000 Policy Genius.
00:23:13.000 When it comes to insurance, it's nice and quite important to get it right.
00:23:16.000 Okay, so as I say, Joe Biden says, well, you know, we were here to fight terrorism.
00:23:21.000 Except that both Barack Obama, who is pretty anti-war, and Donald Trump, who is also pretty anti-war, at least understood you couldn't fully pull out of Afghanistan and remove all the military advisors and remove all the military support and remove everything without collapsing the country.
00:23:35.000 So in May 2014, Barack Obama announced that we were going to be drawing down our troops and redefining the mission in Afghanistan pretty dramatically.
00:23:42.000 But notice how he redefines the mission.
00:23:43.000 He says we're going to continue to be there, right?
00:23:46.000 I've made it clear that we're open to cooperating with Afghans on two narrow missions after 2014.
00:23:54.000 Training Afghan forces and supporting counter-terrorism operations against the remnants of Al-Qaeda.
00:24:02.000 Okay, right, so we kept troops there.
00:24:04.000 Right, we still had a couple thousand troops in Afghanistan.
00:24:07.000 And then Donald Trump, circa 2017, he gave a speech about Afghanistan.
00:24:11.000 He said, listen, my initial instinct was also to leave.
00:24:13.000 But then I looked at the actual facts on the ground and I recognized that a precipitous idiotic pullout would end predictably.
00:24:19.000 Right. Here is Donald Trump saying the correct thing.
00:24:22.000 My original instinct was to pull out.
00:24:26.000 The consequences of a rapid exit are both predictable and unacceptable.
00:24:34.000 911.
00:24:35.000 9-11, the worst terrorist attack in our history, was planned and directed from Afghanistan because that country was ruled by a government that gave comfort and shelter to terrorists.
00:24:51.000 A hasty withdrawal would create a vacuum that terrorists, including ISIS and Al Qaeda, would instantly fill, just as happened before September 11th.
00:25:05.000 Okay, that is a difference in kind from the moronic idiocy of Joe Biden, who's like, let's just take out all the troops.
00:25:12.000 Both Barack Obama on the left and Donald Trump on the right, both of whom had isolationist tendencies with regard to Afghanistan, both of them at least recognized you needed some base of operations against the terrorists.
00:25:22.000 Joe Biden is like, nope.
00:25:23.000 Okay, so then Joe Biden makes another excuse.
00:25:26.000 He says, well, you know, there are other places in the world that have terrorists too.
00:25:29.000 This is so, again, it boggles the mind how foolish the man, he's just a fool.
00:25:34.000 I mean, I keep repeating myself, but it is astonishing to realize that a man who's been working in Washington for 50 years, and was purported to be some sort of foreign policy expert, is this empty-headed?
00:25:47.000 Today, the terrorist threat has metastasized well beyond Afghanistan.
00:25:53.000 Al-Shabaab in Somalia, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Al-Nusra in Syria, ISIS attempting to create a caliphate in Syria and Iraq, and establishing affiliates in multiple countries in Africa and Asia.
00:26:10.000 Okay, but we do have military presence.
00:26:12.000 What's our military presence in Afghanistan going to be now?
00:26:17.000 Zero.
00:26:17.000 What's it going to be in Pakistan, apparently?
00:26:19.000 terrorist groups in multiple countries where we don't have permanent military presence.
00:26:27.000 We do have military presence.
00:26:28.000 What's our military presence in Afghanistan going to be now?
00:26:31.000 Zero.
00:26:32.000 What's it going to be in Pakistan, apparently?
00:26:33.000 Zero.
00:26:34.000 We don't have one Iran, so exactly where are we going to base our operations now?
00:26:39.000 By the way, every country that he mentioned, we currently have military advisors in, including Somalia.
00:26:44.000 We've had military advisors in Somalia fighting al-Shabaab for years.
00:26:47.000 We have American bases in Saudi Arabia.
00:26:50.000 For decades.
00:26:51.000 We have American military presence in Syria.
00:26:54.000 And Iraq.
00:26:55.000 And all these other places that he's mentioning.
00:26:58.000 So what the hell is he talking about?
00:27:00.000 Okay, then he gets to more of the blame game.
00:27:03.000 So this was the biggest portion of his blame game.
00:27:05.000 He blamed, in essence, a couple of sources.
00:27:08.000 One, Trump.
00:27:09.000 The other, the Afghan military for what just happened.
00:27:11.000 Okay, so he starts by blaming Trump by basically lying about the situation on the ground in Afghanistan and the deal that Trump tried to cut with the Taliban.
00:27:20.000 When I came into office, I inherited a deal that President Trump negotiated with the Taliban.
00:27:26.000 Under his agreement, U.S.
00:27:29.000 forces would be out of Afghanistan by May 1, 2021, just a little over three months after I took office.
00:27:38.000 U.S.
00:27:38.000 forces had already drawn down during the Trump administration from roughly 15,500 American forces to 2,500 troops and country.
00:27:51.000 And the Taliban was at its strongest militarily since 2001.
00:27:57.000 The choice I had to make as your president was either to follow through on that agreement or be prepared to go back to fighting the Taliban in the middle of the spring fighting season.
00:28:13.000 OK, so.
00:28:14.000 There's so many problems with what you just said, so many lies here, so many lies here.
00:28:19.000 OK, so let's start with this.
00:28:21.000 Okay, he says that when he came into office, he'd inherited a deal that Trump negotiated with the Taliban.
00:28:26.000 Okay, so Trump did have a Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, negotiate a deal with the Taliban.
00:28:31.000 It was conditional.
00:28:32.000 The Taliban had to fulfill certain conditions before the United States would withdraw troops.
00:28:36.000 The Taliban was in the process of not fulfilling any of those conditions.
00:28:39.000 If Trump had been reelected, he would not have been withdrawing the troops at this point.
00:28:42.000 Everybody knows this.
00:28:44.000 And if he had been withdrawing the troops, he would have been with more planning than this.
00:28:48.000 Hey, by the way, the notion that there was this false choice between we had to withdraw completely or we had to watch the Taliban go to war in May is nuts.
00:28:55.000 That's, of course, not true.
00:28:55.000 We would have just had the status quo, which was American forces in Afghanistan continuing to provide logistical and air support to the Afghan military.
00:29:04.000 Status quo would remain status quo.
00:29:07.000 When he says, by the way, right there, he says, our choice was to be prepared to go back to fighting the Taliban in the middle of the spring fighting season.
00:29:14.000 Um, strange, because one thing I noticed is that winter is coming up.
00:29:20.000 The Afghan government explicitly asked, explicitly asked the Biden administration, if you're going to pull out and delay it until winter.
00:29:27.000 Why?
00:29:28.000 Because Afghanistan, the weather in the winter is really bad.
00:29:30.000 The Taliban doesn't fight in the winter.
00:29:32.000 There is a fighting season in Afghanistan.
00:29:35.000 It is the spring and the summer.
00:29:37.000 And once you get the fall and the winter, it stops.
00:29:40.000 So all Biden had to do was at least wait for a few months in order to facilitate a transfer.
00:29:46.000 That, by the way, would have also guaranteed an ability for people who wanted to get out to get out.
00:29:50.000 Instead, he decided to accelerate it.
00:29:52.000 He's telling many, many lies here.
00:29:55.000 Just this Sunday, here was former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo explaining this is pathetic blame shifting.
00:29:59.000 There were actual conditions to our deal with the Taliban.
00:30:01.000 By the way, I was against the deal with the Taliban in the first place.
00:30:03.000 I thought it was foolhardy.
00:30:05.000 I spoke about this during the Trump administration.
00:30:07.000 I think that any deal you attempt to cut with terrorists is idiotic, whether you're talking about Hezbollah or Hamas or Al Qaeda or the Taliban.
00:30:14.000 Anyway, even even with that said, the Trump deal is not what Biden did here.
00:30:17.000 And by the way, since when is Biden bound by deals made by Trump?
00:30:21.000 He's pulled out of every single deal Trump ever made.
00:30:24.000 He's undermined most of the deals Trump ever, like since when does he have to respect those deals?
00:30:29.000 Remember that that Barack Obama did the same thing.
00:30:31.000 Barack Obama, after he took over, he blamed George W. Bush for the status of forces agreement in Iraq and suggested that that required him to pull out of Iraq, which was eminently untrue.
00:30:42.000 In any case, here is Pompeo.
00:30:44.000 I wouldn't have let my 10-year-old son get away from this kind of pathetic blame-shifting.
00:30:49.000 He should be less focused on trying to blame this on someone else than to solving the problem of making sure that we protect and defend American security.
00:30:57.000 Go read the conditions that were built into the deal.
00:30:59.000 I was in the room.
00:31:00.000 I was at the center of working to deliver that.
00:31:03.000 We negotiated a deal that performed a basis for the conditions-based withdrawal from American soldiers.
00:31:08.000 I'm proud of the work that we did there.
00:31:12.000 Okay, so then we get to Biden shifting the blame.
00:31:15.000 He starts off by blaming Trump.
00:31:16.000 Then he moves to he's going to blame the Afghan military.
00:31:19.000 This is really despicable.
00:31:20.000 It's really, really despicable.
00:31:22.000 It's despicable when you understand what he actually did here.
00:31:24.000 So here is Joe Biden blaming the Afghans for their own plight here.
00:31:29.000 I always promised the American people that I would be straight with you.
00:31:33.000 The truth is, this did unfold more quickly than we had anticipated.
00:31:39.000 So what's happened?
00:31:42.000 Afghanistan political leaders gave up and fled the country.
00:31:47.000 The Afghan military collapsed sometime without trying to fight.
00:31:54.000 If anything, the developments of the past week reinforced that ending U.S.
00:31:59.000 military involvement in Afghanistan now was the right decision.
00:32:05.000 American troops cannot and should not Be fighting in a war and dying in a war that Afghan forces are not willing to fight for themselves.
00:32:16.000 Okay, this is a slander.
00:32:18.000 This is a slander.
00:32:19.000 When he says the Afghan forces were not willing to fight in this war themselves, 50,000 Afghans were killed over the last seven years.
00:32:27.000 50,000 fighting the Taliban.
00:32:29.000 There's a reason why the Afghan forces collapsed here.
00:32:33.000 The Afghan forces collapsed here because the United States removed all possible logistical support.
00:32:38.000 So let's begin at the beginning.
00:32:39.000 April 14th is just a couple of months ago.
00:32:42.000 Here is Joe Biden announcing the withdrawal.
00:32:46.000 I'm now the fourth United States president to preside over American troop presence in Afghanistan.
00:32:52.000 Two Republicans, two Democrats.
00:32:55.000 I will not pass this responsibility onto a fifth.
00:33:00.000 After consulting closely with our allies and partners, with our military leaders and intelligence personnel, with our diplomats, And our development experts, with the Congress and the Vice President, as well as with Mr. Ghani and many others around the world, I've concluded that it's time to end America's longest war.
00:33:19.000 It's time for American troops to come home.
00:33:23.000 Okay, and then he pledged that there would be continued American support for, for example, the Afghan Air Force.
00:33:29.000 Okay, here is the problem.
00:33:30.000 As reported by the Wall Street Journal, when he, I mean, the reason the Afghans turned tail and ran is because they did not, their entire operational structure was built around American support.
00:33:41.000 Quote from the Wall Street Journal, the Afghan army fighting alongside American troops was molded to match the way the Americans operate.
00:33:47.000 The U.S.
00:33:47.000 military, the world's most advanced, relies heavily on combining ground operations with air power, using aircraft to resupply outposts, strike targets, ferry the wounded, and collect reconnaissance and intelligence.
00:33:57.000 In the wake of President Biden's withdrawal decision, the U.S.
00:34:00.000 pulled its air support, intelligence, and contractors servicing Afghans' planes and helicopters.
00:34:06.000 That meant the Afghan military simply could not operate anymore.
00:34:11.000 In other words, the force stopped existing when the United States, which had built the entire force around U.S.
00:34:15.000 support, withdrew the support.
00:34:19.000 According to the Daily Beast, by the way, it goes even further than that, quote, the country's mostly U.S.
00:34:22.000 provided air fleet was dependent on foreign contractors to assist with maintenance.
00:34:26.000 As the U.S.
00:34:27.000 withdrawal took hold, the Biden administration refused to allow contractors into the country to service the aircraft, effectively grounding some of the Afghan air force at the same time as the U.S.
00:34:34.000 had withdrawn direct air support to Afghan forces.
00:34:37.000 Afghan officials had hoped to draw back time at the beginning of winter, could buy them more time to strengthen defense against the Taliban.
00:34:42.000 The Biden administration ignored and pushed ahead with its own timeline.
00:34:45.000 So just to get this straight, We didn't only remove our own Air Force from the place.
00:34:50.000 We also refused to allow civilian contractors into the country to help the Afghans handle their own Air Force malfunction issues.
00:35:00.000 The Afghans were literally on Zoom calls, pointing their laptops at the helicopters, being like, guys, can you help us?
00:35:07.000 That's what Biden did.
00:35:09.000 Then he's like, oh yeah, and then they just, they dissolved.
00:35:10.000 I mean, they obviously didn't have the will.
00:35:12.000 Or alternatively, you completely undercut their ability to fight.
00:35:16.000 Alternatively that.
00:35:18.000 And by the way, negotiated continuously with the Taliban against the advice of the Afghan government.
00:35:24.000 Biden started lying about the Afghan government too.
00:35:26.000 He was like, well, you know, they just wouldn't cut a deal with the Taliban.
00:35:28.000 What deal was there to be cut with the Taliban?
00:35:29.000 I'm missing it.
00:35:30.000 Was there a deal cut with the Taliban that looked real good over here?
00:35:33.000 Because I'm sort of missing that.
00:35:35.000 The number of lies, the number of lies here.
00:35:38.000 And by the way, the biggest lie here, it really is an insane lie.
00:35:42.000 And he says it over and over, as we'll get to in just a second, is that because the Afghan military collapsed, this proves we needed to leave.
00:35:50.000 Okay, that is sort of like arguing that because the murder rate rose after the police stopped policing in America's major cities, this is a great argument for defund the police.
00:35:59.000 Yeah, no bleep, when you remove America's support, it turns out terrorists take over.
00:36:04.000 Is this an argument for removing America's support?
00:36:07.000 Why and how?
00:36:08.000 Explain.
00:36:10.000 Again, if the idea is that you remove the people who stand between the good guys and the bad guys, and then the bad guys take over, this is an argument for removing the people who stand between?
00:36:19.000 I'm missing the argument.
00:36:21.000 Why?
00:36:23.000 Status quo was status quo.
00:36:26.000 And by the way, he doubled down on this too, right?
00:36:28.000 He said, you know, it's, if we, no matter when we left, this would have happened.
00:36:32.000 There's some very brave and capable Afghan special forces units and soldiers.
00:36:37.000 But if Afghanistan is unable to mount any real resistance to the Taliban now, there is no chance that one year, one more year, five more years, or 20 more years of U.S.
00:36:52.000 military boots on the ground would have made any difference.
00:36:57.000 Here's what I believe to my core.
00:37:01.000 It is wrong to order American troops to step up when Afghanistan's own armed forces would not.
00:37:08.000 So I'm left again to ask of those who argue that we should stay, how many more generations of America's daughters and sons would you have me send to fight Afghanistan's civil war when Afghan troops will not?
00:37:27.000 How many more lives, American lives, is it worth How many endless rows of headstones at Arlington National Cemetery?
00:37:37.000 This is the most cynical nonsense.
00:37:39.000 It's cynical nonsense.
00:37:41.000 We haven't had an American combat casualty in Afghanistan in a year and a half.
00:37:45.000 You may as well be asking, how many more American lives are we willing to risk to have thousands of troops in South Korea?
00:37:51.000 Or bases in Germany?
00:37:52.000 Or bases in Okinawa?
00:37:55.000 The hell is he talking about?
00:37:57.000 He's acting as though this is 2011 in Afghanistan.
00:37:59.000 It is not.
00:38:00.000 It is 2021 in Afghanistan.
00:38:02.000 So he's just lying.
00:38:03.000 That's just a lie.
00:38:05.000 And again, the idea that a little more time wouldn't have mattered at all?
00:38:08.000 Well, it certainly would have mattered in the sense that we maybe could have helped them restructure their military to the point where they weren't completely reliant on American air support.
00:38:17.000 What a damned liar he is.
00:38:19.000 And the lies get worse.
00:38:20.000 I mean, they just kept getting worse and worse and worse.
00:38:20.000 We'll get to that in a second.
00:38:22.000 This bloviating idiot.
00:38:25.000 It's more in a second.

00:42:12.000 We all look forward to hearing it.
00:42:13.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:42:16.000 Well, after Joe Biden finished blaming the Afghan military for its own collapse and and blaming Donald Trump, he then just started saying very silly things.
00:42:30.000 So this, I think, was the silliest thing that he said in his entire ridiculous submission speech here.
00:42:35.000 He said that our enemies would have been very upset if we'd stayed in Afghanistan.
00:42:40.000 This is asinine.
00:42:42.000 At a level beyond most asininity.
00:42:44.000 It's like record levels of asininity.
00:42:47.000 Here is Joe Biden.
00:42:50.000 Honestly, you lose words when you hear things this stupid.
00:42:54.000 It's as though you're being spoken to by an alien intelligence that does not speak English anymore.
00:43:00.000 Except it's really old and has to drink cans of Ensure and is barely sentient.
00:43:04.000 Here's our barely sentient president.
00:43:07.000 Our true strategic competitors, China and Russia, would love nothing more than the United States to continue to funnel billions of dollars in resources and attention into stabilizing Afghanistan indefinitely.
00:43:22.000 Oh, is that what they'd like?
00:43:23.000 Interesting.
00:43:24.000 China and Russia want us to want us to stay.
00:43:27.000 So what they would really hate is if we were to leave, right?
00:43:30.000 That's when that's when they would be like right now they're quaking in their boots because we pulled out of Afghanistan and abandoned hundreds of thousands of people to the tender mercies of the worst people on earth.
00:43:38.000 And we not only abandoned our allies and completely undercut our allies, we then celebrated ourselves in doing so.
00:43:44.000 Probably, like, nothing has made them tremble and quake in their boots more than this.
00:43:48.000 Unless it was us abandoning parts of the Ukraine to Russia, or abandoning Hong Kong to China.
00:43:54.000 The United States, over the last 20 years, has become very good at abandoning allies.
00:43:58.000 It's pretty impressive.
00:43:59.000 Normally, a good foreign policy requires you to be a good friend and a horrible enemy.
00:44:03.000 Right now, we're a horrible friend and a fairly good enemy.
00:44:07.000 Simple fact.
00:44:08.000 Okay, so here's the thing.
00:44:10.000 This is so easily debunkable, but we'll do it anyway.
00:44:13.000 Joe Biden says right there that China and Russia wanted us to stay in Afghanistan and that they would be upset with us leaving Afghanistan.
00:44:20.000 Weird, because China immediately seized on us leaving to say that they will recognize the Taliban and will now work with the Taliban to increase Chinese influence in the region via their Belt and Road Initiative.
00:44:31.000 According to Foreign Policy Magazine, China hopes to get its hands on Afghanistan's trillion-dollar rare earths metal.
00:44:37.000 They have mountains made of rare earths over there, which is the rarest minerals.
00:44:41.000 For their part, the Taliban are already saying they're happy to work with the Chinese.
00:44:44.000 They don't give a crap that the Chinese are imprisoning a million Muslim Uyghurs in Chongqing.
00:44:50.000 China's embassy in Afghanistan, by the way, our embassy is getting invaded.
00:44:53.000 China's embassy is still open over there.
00:44:55.000 So everything is going great with the Taliban, with China.
00:44:58.000 China has also solidified relations with Pakistan, presenting a solid face against India.
00:45:02.000 So the possibility of conflict with India has increased.
00:45:05.000 Also, just to add some insult to injury, the Chinese Global Times, which is an official CCP outlet, is an official Chinese Communist Party outlet, CCP outlet.
00:45:15.000 They tweeted out, from what happened in Afghanistan, those in Taiwan should perceive that once a war breaks out in the Straits, the island's defense will collapse in hours.
00:45:22.000 U.S.
00:45:22.000 military won't come to help.
00:45:23.000 As a result, the DPP, that's the Democratic People's Party of Taiwan, will quickly surrender.
00:45:29.000 So, yeah, clearly they are, you know, they're very upset that we left, clearly.
00:45:34.000 They're already, already threatening Taiwan.
00:45:38.000 And this is their goal, by the way.
00:45:40.000 Their goal here is to threaten Taiwan into basically electing friendly governments the way that happened in Hong Kong.
00:45:48.000 They're hoping to do this without having to fire a shot, but if they have to fire a shot, they're really not particularly afraid of the United States.
00:45:53.000 They added, quote, once a cross straits war breaks out, while the mainland seizes the island with forces, the US would have had to have a much greater determination than it had for Afghanistan, Syria, and Vietnam if it wants to interfere. Sounds an awful lot like Osama bin Laden in the aftermath of the USS Cole, right?
00:46:09.000 The United States is a paper tiger, it is a weak horse, I can do whatever I want, and the US won't do anything.
00:46:15.000 See, betraying weakness on the global stage is a horrible idea.
00:46:19.000 By the way, the Chinese?
00:46:21.000 It's not just completely sound and fury.
00:46:23.000 Apparently, The People's Liberation Army, Eastern Theater Command, on Tuesday dispatched warships, aircraft, and fighter jets for joint live-fire assault drills in the southwest and southeast areas off the island of Taiwan as a response to recent moves by the U.S.
00:46:37.000 and Taiwan secessionists.
00:46:39.000 So China is already militarily threatening Taiwan in order to presumably get them to elect some sort of conciliatory government that will allow Taiwan to be subjected to the same tyranny as Hong Kong.
00:46:50.000 Foreign policy abhors a vacuum.
00:46:52.000 Joe Biden created a vacuum.
00:46:53.000 Our enemies are rushing into the vacuum.
00:46:54.000 See, we can quit a war.
00:46:55.000 It doesn't mean our enemies did, guys.
00:46:57.000 We can quit a war and we can walk away and we can abandon our allies.
00:47:00.000 It doesn't mean that the bad guys just go away.
00:47:03.000 That is not how any of this works.
00:47:06.000 I know that we've spun into our memories the idea that abandoning Vietnam was a good foreign policy choice.
00:47:11.000 It only led to the deaths of two million people in Cambodia, hundreds of thousands of people floating off the coast in boats.
00:47:17.000 That's all it led to.
00:47:19.000 Abandoning Iran never had any bad consequences.
00:47:22.000 And this is all just, it's patter for boobs who don't follow foreign policy closely.
00:47:29.000 And Biden knows that.
00:47:30.000 He knows that.
00:47:31.000 All right, and he didn't stop there because it never stops there.
00:47:35.000 Joe Biden also decided it was necessary to gaslight the rest of us.
00:47:41.000 I think my favorite part of this, and by favorite I mean worst, is that Joe Biden, he gives this speech, right?
00:47:46.000 He gives his big surrender speech.
00:47:47.000 And in his surrender speech, he then lies and says, don't worry, we're still supporting the Afghan people.
00:47:53.000 No, I've noticed you're not.
00:47:54.000 That's what I've noticed.
00:47:56.000 Call me crazy, I don't think they feel very supported right now.
00:47:58.000 Here is Biden.
00:48:00.000 We will continue to support the Afghan people.
00:48:03.000 We will lead with our diplomacy, our international influence, and our humanitarian aid.
00:48:08.000 We'll continue to push for regional diplomacy and engagement to prevent violence and instability.
00:48:14.000 We'll continue to speak out for the basic rights of the Afghan people, of women and girls, just as we speak out all over the world.
00:48:26.000 I've been clear that human rights must be the center of our foreign policy, not the periphery.
00:48:33.000 But the way to do it is not through endless military deployments.
00:48:38.000 It's with our diplomacy, our economic tools, and rallying the world to join us.
00:48:45.000 Oh, this pathetic sad old sack of crap.
00:48:47.000 My God.
00:48:49.000 Truly, truly unbelievable.
00:48:51.000 Don't worry, guys.
00:48:53.000 You know, we haven't abandoned the people of Afghanistan.
00:48:56.000 I'm going to say words.
00:48:58.000 You know what the Taliban take super seriously?
00:49:00.000 Verbiage.
00:49:01.000 This is their big thing.
00:49:02.000 If you send them a really pissed off missive, the Taliban are like, whoa, you know, when you had actual air bases here and you're dropping bombs on us, that was one thing.
00:49:10.000 But now that Joe Biden is going to say things, the guy who just withdrew and let us take over, he's going to say stuff.
00:49:16.000 And because he says stuff, we've decided women can go to school again.
00:49:20.000 We will lead with our diplomacy, our international influence, and our humanitarian aid?
00:49:24.000 Who are you going to send the humanitarian aid to?
00:49:26.000 The Taliban?
00:49:27.000 How's that going to work exactly?
00:49:29.000 Our international influence with what?
00:49:31.000 The 8th century cavemen?
00:49:33.000 Our diplomacy?
00:49:34.000 Oh, well, I mean, if we send a few engraved letters via the U.S.
00:49:37.000 Embassy that no longer exists in Afghanistan?
00:49:40.000 Then things will probably be fine.
00:49:42.000 We'll speak out for the basic rights of the Afghan people.
00:49:45.000 We'll speak out just as we do all over the world.
00:49:47.000 We'll say stuff.
00:49:48.000 We'll hashtag.
00:49:49.000 Hashtag, bring back our girls.
00:49:51.000 Hashtag, we stand with Afghanistan.
00:49:53.000 Hashtag.
00:49:54.000 I mean, there are so many hashtags.
00:49:57.000 The power of hashtag will emerge victorious once again.
00:50:01.000 That is Joe Biden's plan in Afghanistan.
00:50:04.000 He's been clear, he says, that human rights will be the center of our foreign policy, not the periphery.
00:50:08.000 The basic human right will be for the Taliban to come and just kill everyone.
00:50:11.000 That's a pretty big human right.
00:50:12.000 But you know, he'll say stuff.
00:50:14.000 He'll say stuff when, you know, between episodes of Matlock, he's got a t-vote.
00:50:18.000 He's got like a few minutes in between to really frame a nice tweet.
00:50:21.000 Or more importantly, have one of his aides frame the tweet so he can go back to sleep and get his sleepy time in.
00:50:26.000 The lies continued.
00:50:28.000 Then he said, you know what?
00:50:31.000 We are making sure that we are evacuating everyone.
00:50:33.000 That's what we're doing.
00:50:34.000 We're really making clear that our plans are in place.
00:50:37.000 We were a little surprised by how fast this went, but we're evacuating everybody.
00:50:42.000 Our troops are working to secure the airfield and ensure continued operation of both the civilian and military flights.
00:50:52.000 We're taking over air traffic control.
00:50:55.000 We have safely shut down our embassy and transferred our diplomats.
00:51:01.000 Our diplomatic presence is now consolidated at the airport as well.
00:51:07.000 Operation Allies Refugee, which I announced back in July, has already moved 2,000 Afghans who are eligible for special immigration visas and their families to the United States.
00:51:21.000 Amazing!
00:51:21.000 A stunning number!
00:51:22.000 2,000 Afghans eligible for special immigration visas and their families have moved out?
00:51:27.000 That's incredible!
00:51:27.000 What an amazing feat!
00:51:29.000 Out of 100,000 people!
00:51:33.000 By the way, there are still 10,000 American citizens in the country!
00:51:38.000 Many of them are residents, journalists, or aid workers.
00:51:41.000 Most are trying to escape.
00:51:42.000 The U.S.
00:51:43.000 State Department sent out a tweet yesterday, I kid you not, in which they said, make sure you file your paperwork properly.
00:51:48.000 Then they took down the tweet because they realized how dumb that sounded.
00:51:51.000 The people are going to be filing their paperwork to get out of Afghanistan as the Taliban take over and start shooting people.
00:51:58.000 According to the Washington Post editorial board, the State Department and Defense Department basically now have two options.
00:52:04.000 Negotiate safe passage for American citizens with the Taliban, if possible, or send the U.S.
00:52:07.000 military out in the city to bring Americans back to the airport before the Taliban gangs find them.
00:52:14.000 Officials working on these cases inside the government told me they have no clear guidance from the White House and not enough support.
00:52:20.000 Also, the State Department is dealing with more than 80,000 visa applications for Afghans who worked with the United States government or find themselves at risk.
00:52:27.000 By the way, that is a very low estimate.
00:52:29.000 That's just the number of people who have applied in the last, like, couple of weeks.
00:52:33.000 If they could apply, I am sure hundreds of thousands of more people would want to get out.
00:52:38.000 In a joint statement, the State Department and Pentagon said, well, you know, our big mission is to secure the Kabul airport there.
00:52:43.000 I love that.
00:52:44.000 When Biden says our troops are working to secure the airfield, you know, you might want to think of that before you pulled out all the troops, you dope.
00:52:51.000 You might want to think of it before, you know, the Afghans were actually jumping onto the wheels of planes to escape.
00:52:56.000 You might have wanted to think about all of that.
00:52:58.000 That might have been a thing we're thinking about.
00:53:01.000 The statement said, quote, tomorrow and over the coming days, we will be transferring out of the country thousands of American citizens who have been resident in Afghanistan, as well as thousands of Afghans who are in danger.
00:53:11.000 But even the mission to secure the airport is going to rise, says The Washington Post.
00:53:14.000 On Monday, U.S.
00:53:15.000 troops shot dead at least two armed men who are among the masses storming the airport.
00:53:19.000 As of Monday afternoon, U.S.
00:53:20.000 officials said the flights to and from the airport had stalled.
00:53:24.000 military plane where the the People who are staffing the plane.
00:53:24.000 There is one U.S.
00:53:29.000 So many Afghans climbed onto like hundreds of extra Afghans trying to escape, climbing on the plane.
00:53:34.000 And you want to talk about actual empathy?
00:53:36.000 The pilots of the plane, the staff of the plane, the American military.
00:53:39.000 Talk about brave people.
00:53:40.000 They said, okay, we're over capacity.
00:53:42.000 We're taking off anyway.
00:53:42.000 They saved 640 people on that plane.
00:53:45.000 That is what American soldiers do.
00:53:47.000 American cowards act like President Biden acts.
00:53:52.000 American vet.
00:53:53.000 This was, I think, the most stunning thing on TV yesterday in terms of the commentary.
00:53:57.000 His name is Matt Zeller.
00:53:57.000 There's an American veteran.
00:53:58.000 He was on MSNBC with former four-star general Brian Williams, who still has, you know, when he's not dodging sniper fire in Iraq.
00:54:07.000 He was on with Matt Zeller.
00:54:09.000 And Brian Williams came on after the Biden speech and talked about how wonderful Biden was.
00:54:13.000 And then Matt Zeller proceeded to just crap all over him.
00:54:17.000 I feel like I watched a different speech than the rest of you guys.
00:54:19.000 I was appalled.
00:54:21.000 There was such a profound bold-faced lie in that speech.
00:54:23.000 The idea that we planned for every contingency.
00:54:25.000 I have been personally trying to tell this administration since it took office.
00:54:31.000 I've been trying to tell our government for years that this was coming.
00:54:34.000 We sent them plan after plan on how to evacuate these people.
00:54:39.000 Nobody listened to us.
00:54:40.000 They didn't plan for the evacuation of our Afghan wartime allies.
00:54:43.000 They're trying to conduct it now at the 11th hour.
00:54:46.000 The thing that they were most concerned about was the optics of a chaotic evacuation.
00:54:50.000 Well, they got exactly what they were most concerned of by failing to do what was right when we could have done it.
00:54:57.000 Correct.
00:54:58.000 Correct.
00:54:59.000 This is correct.
00:55:02.000 But Biden didn't stop there.
00:55:04.000 I mean, it was just a firehose of lies.
00:55:08.000 Where's the fact check?
00:55:09.000 Where's Daniel Dayle at CNN to debunk all the lies?
00:55:11.000 I thought facts matter.
00:55:12.000 Facts first.
00:55:13.000 Well, here's Joe Biden continuing to lie.
00:55:17.000 He says, well, you know, some people might be wondering why we didn't start evacuating people sooner.
00:55:22.000 It's everybody else's fault.
00:55:24.000 Oh, you thought it was his fault?
00:55:25.000 No, no, no, no, no, no.
00:55:28.000 It's your fault, probably.
00:55:29.000 It's everybody's fault.
00:55:31.000 Aren't we all at fault in the end?
00:55:32.000 Aren't we all just sinners before in the hands of an angry God?
00:55:35.000 Here's Joe Biden.
00:55:37.000 I know there are concerns about why we did not begin evacuating Afghans civilians sooner.
00:55:44.000 Part of the answer is some of the Afghans did not want to leave earlier, still hopeful for their country.
00:55:52.000 And part of it because the Afghan government and its supporters discouraged us from organizing a mass exodus to avoid triggering, as they said, a crisis of confidence.
00:56:05.000 OK, so a question.
00:56:07.000 He says, you know, the Afghan government and its supporters, they told us not to organize the mass exodus because it would trigger a crisis of confidence.
00:56:15.000 Oh, is that what happened?
00:56:16.000 Is that really interesting?
00:56:18.000 So you were saying, let's get everybody out.
00:56:19.000 And the Afghan government was like, please don't do that because it'll undermine the possibility of us fighting back.
00:56:24.000 And so Joe Biden was like, OK, or alternatively, Joe Biden was saying last month, none of this would happen.
00:56:30.000 Flashback, Joe Biden last month.
00:56:32.000 You want to know why people didn't flee?
00:56:33.000 Because the president of the United States said last month no one needed to flee.
00:56:36.000 Everything was fine.
00:56:37.000 All is well.
00:56:40.000 Do you see any parallels between this withdrawal and what happened in Vietnam with some people feeling?
00:56:45.000 None whatsoever.
00:56:47.000 What you had is you had entire brigades breaking through the gates of our embassy.
00:56:47.000 Zero.
00:56:52.000 Six, if I'm not mistaken.
00:56:54.000 The Taliban is not the North Vietnamese army.
00:56:59.000 They're not remotely comparable in terms of capability.
00:57:03.000 There's going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of a embassy of the United States from Afghanistan.
00:57:12.000 It is not at all comparable.
00:57:15.000 So maybe people didn't flee because the president of the United States was lying to them a month ago.
00:57:21.000 Okay, and then the lies just continued.
00:57:22.000 He said, well, you know what?
00:57:24.000 If the Taliban start attacking people, we'll do something about that, won't we?
00:57:27.000 We'll, ah, we're gonna bloviate.
00:57:31.000 Yes, because, well, I'm not afraid to use force, says the man who just pulled out 2,500 troops for no reason and then has to send in 7,000 troops to secure the surrender of the 2,500 troops who are leaving.
00:57:42.000 Here's the president.
00:57:44.000 As we carry out this departure, we have made it clear to the Taliban If they attack our personnel or disrupt our operation, the U.S.
00:57:56.000 presence will be swift and the response will be swift and forceful.
00:58:02.000 We will defend our people with devastating force if necessary.
00:58:07.000 Our current military mission will be short in time, limited in scope, and focused in its objectives.
00:58:16.000 Get our people and our allies as safely as quickly as possible.
00:58:23.000 Oh, yeah, I'm sure he's so credible.
00:58:25.000 OK, then Biden after blaming every other human being on Earth.
00:58:28.000 You blame the Afghan military.
00:58:29.000 He blames everybody.
00:58:29.000 You blame Trump.
00:58:30.000 It's everybody's fault except for this guy.
00:58:32.000 Then he says the buck stops with me.
00:58:34.000 Oh, yes, I believe you, sir.
00:58:35.000 I sure, sure.
00:58:38.000 I am president of the United States of America and the buck stops with me.
00:58:46.000 I'm deeply saddened by the facts we now face.
00:58:51.000 But I do not regret my decision to end America's warfighting in Afghanistan and maintain a laser focus on our counterterrorism missions there and other parts of the world.
00:59:02.000 I cannot and will not ask our troops to fight on endlessly in another country's civil war, taking casualties, suffering life-shattering injuries, Leaving families broken by grief and loss.
00:59:18.000 This is not in our national security interest.
00:59:22.000 It is not what the American people want.
00:59:26.000 It is not what our troops who have sacrificed so much over the past two decades deserve.
00:59:33.000 Okay, our troops, by the way, I hope you've talked to somebody who served in Afghanistan.
00:59:37.000 There is no one more devastated today by what Joe Biden has done than the people who served in Afghanistan.
00:59:42.000 Who spent their lives, who left their limbs in Afghanistan, in order to preserve America against terrorists taking over that place?
00:59:50.000 This ass just pulled everybody out to let the Taliban take over in the name of those soldiers?
00:59:57.000 Yeah, I think not.
00:59:58.000 I think not.
01:00:00.000 If the buck stops with Joe Biden, then it stops with Joe Biden.
01:00:03.000 The thousands of corpses in the streets, those will be on Joe Biden.
01:00:06.000 The women will get hit with acid in the face, that is on Joe Biden.
01:00:11.000 The rebuilding of terror groups in Afghanistan will be on Joe Biden.
01:00:15.000 The movement by China into the region will be on Joe Biden.
01:00:18.000 China's more aggressive movement in the South China Sea and against Taiwan will be on Joe Biden.
01:00:21.000 Russia's more aggressive movement with regard to the Middle East, Syria, Iran, that will be on Joe Biden.
01:00:26.000 Iran and Hezbollah moving on Israel, that will be on Joe Biden.
01:00:29.000 When you create a vacuum in American foreign policy, someone else takes over and it will all be on Joe Biden.
01:00:35.000 The buck indeed stops with him and so do the corpses.
01:00:37.000 They stop at his door because he created this.
01:00:40.000 He owns it.
01:00:41.000 And even though he tried to blame everybody else on earth, he is the one who owns it in the end.
01:00:45.000 He has created the Saigon.
01:00:48.000 It's amazing.
01:00:48.000 He spent a month trying to claim Saigon wouldn't happen, and then Saigon happened, and now he's bragging about it.
01:00:53.000 He concluded his speech by bragging that this was just like Saigon.
01:00:57.000 Remember a month ago, Saigon was a disaster.
01:00:59.000 This would never be like Saigon.
01:01:00.000 Never.
01:01:01.000 Now, it's exactly like Saigon, and he's happy about it.
01:01:06.000 I made a commitment to the brave men and women who serve this nation that I wasn't going to ask them to continue to risk their lives in a military action that should have ended long ago.
01:01:18.000 Our leaders did that in Vietnam when I got here as a young man.
01:01:22.000 I will not do it in Afghanistan.
01:01:24.000 Okay, so there he is, right?
01:01:28.000 He says that the ending of the war in Vietnam was supposed to end.
01:01:30.000 It was supposed to end.
01:01:32.000 Right, what happened in Saigon, the Democratic Congress defunded the South Vietnamese government.
01:01:38.000 It took four and a half months after that defunding, against the advice of Gerald Ford, for the Viet Cong to overrun Saigon, and for us to have to evacuate our embassy, and for hundreds of thousands of people to float off the coast in boats, and for two million people to be killed in Cambodia.
01:01:51.000 Joe Biden thinks that was good.
01:01:52.000 In the end, after all of this, after all of this, after he said this wasn't going to be like Saigon, it wasn't going to be like Vietnam, it wasn't going to be like any of that, he says, you know what?
01:01:58.000 It is like that.
01:01:59.000 And it's good that it's like that.
01:02:02.000 Because Vietnam, for so many people like Joe Biden, the Vietnam syndrome is not something to be avoided, it is something to be championed.
01:02:10.000 A weak America on the foreign policy stage is good.
01:02:14.000 Joe Biden does not see America's interests as interests to be pursued by a variety of ends, ranging from the diplomatic to the military, and sometimes in tandem.
01:02:22.000 Instead, he sees diplomacy as the end in and of itself, Military force is always bad.
01:02:30.000 And I'm seeing a lot of people on the right today saying things like, well, you know, now that we're bringing these military, we're not spending 40 billion bucks in Afghanistan every year, and we're not having the American military in Afghanistan, this will allow us to redeploy.
01:02:40.000 Show of hands, who thinks we're going to redeploy to the southern border?
01:02:44.000 Anybody?
01:02:45.000 Show of hands, who thinks that we're going to up our naval forces in the South China Sea with the resources we just saved in Afghanistan?
01:02:51.000 Or confront the Russians?
01:02:52.000 Or confront the Iranians?
01:02:54.000 Now, who thinks that what Joe Biden just did is going to be the predicate for a series of regional surrenders around the globe to other heterogeneous powers who are interested in seizing power against the interests of the United States?
01:03:09.000 This is the same administration that is busily working to surrender to China.
01:03:13.000 This is the same administration that is busily working to grant power to Russia by greenlighting the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
01:03:19.000 This is the same administration that is attempting to currently negotiate a deal with the malocracy in Iran.
01:03:25.000 This is not a bug in the system.
01:03:28.000 Joe Biden is happy about it.
01:03:31.000 He does not look at what's happening in Afghanistan as an unfolding incipient disaster.
01:03:35.000 It was his goal.
01:03:36.000 It's what he wanted.
01:03:37.000 He bragged about it yesterday.
01:03:39.000 And by the way, he then took like two questions, turned around, left the room, went back on vacation.
01:03:43.000 That's how much empathetic grandpa cares.
01:03:46.000 That's how much he cares.
01:03:47.000 Because he thinks this is a victory for him.
01:03:49.000 And there are members of the press who are already championing it.
01:03:51.000 You're already starting to see editorial boards from the left going, oh, well, you know, it is heroic after all.
01:03:55.000 I mean, that speech, I mean, that really was an amazing speech.
01:03:59.000 And if people on the right fall for this crap, seriously, if they fall for the idea that this was somehow good for the United States, I don't know what to tell you.
01:04:07.000 The world has a habit of clocking American isolationist tendencies.
01:04:12.000 In the aftermath, like, one of the things that Joe Biden said here, and he continues to say it, is that the United States basically has no interest in the outcome of wars in other countries.
01:04:24.000 Well, we kind of do when it turns out that they have an impact on us.
01:04:27.000 It's happened many, many times in American history, where sort of non-interventionist policy ends up bearing some pretty rotten fruit.
01:04:34.000 Ranging all the way back to America's non-intervention in the Russian Civil War of 1917-1918, where we basically just stood aside and let the communists take over with like a skeleton force.
01:04:44.000 That only led to 70 years of Cold War.
01:04:47.000 Or where the United States did not actually leave any sort of troops in Europe in the aftermath of World War I, leading to the rise and reconstitution of the Nazi power.
01:04:57.000 See, the thing is this, when it comes to foreign policy, foreign policy is very often about the risk that you take to stop things that have not yet materialized.
01:05:06.000 And so it's very easy for people who are isolationists to say, well, nothing's materialized.
01:05:10.000 It would have been that way anyway.
01:05:12.000 It's very easy to say, okay, you know, 20 years in Afghanistan, what did we get for our money?
01:05:15.000 What did we get for it?
01:05:16.000 And the answer typically from people on the right has been, what we got is no 9-11s.
01:05:21.000 That was the cost, right?
01:05:22.000 The cost was no 9-11s, no global Al Qaeda power.
01:05:25.000 That was the cost.
01:05:26.000 Right, that's what we got!
01:05:28.000 That was what we bought.
01:05:29.000 With all that blood and treasure, that's what we got.
01:05:31.000 And people, on the isolationist right, and on the far left, they will say things like, Well, you know, maybe that wasn't gonna happen anyway.
01:05:37.000 Maybe it was over already.
01:05:39.000 How do you know?
01:05:40.000 Well, there's no way to prove a negative.
01:05:43.000 We can't.
01:05:43.000 Right?
01:05:43.000 We can't say for sure that if the United States had never done anything in Afghanistan, that terror attacks wouldn't have stopped.
01:05:50.000 Maybe they would have stopped.
01:05:50.000 Who knows?
01:05:51.000 Who knows?
01:05:52.000 But there is one thing that is certain.
01:05:53.000 When the United States removes itself from the world sphere, the world becomes more dangerous for the United States, not less.
01:06:00.000 The world is not kind to people who cower behind their own borders.
01:06:04.000 The world is not kind to people who sit and do nothing on the global stage.
01:06:09.000 Particularly world powers.
01:06:11.000 The world is not kind to those people.
01:06:13.000 Because you can either fight the battles when they are far away and when they require a minimum of blood and toil as they do now, right?
01:06:20.000 Not at the beginning of the Afghan war, now.
01:06:22.000 And we are talking about $44 billion a year and zero American lives lost per year.
01:06:26.000 Or you can wait until global powers have decided that they see a vacuum and they move.
01:06:32.000 And the wars become ever more costly.
01:06:34.000 That is the lesson of the 20th century.
01:06:36.000 It seems as though we're going to have to relearn it in the 21st.
01:06:40.000 Alrighty, we'll be back here today.
01:06:42.000 With another hour of content coming up soon.
