00:01:09.000 It was about 25, 27 minutes.
00:01:11.000 And it was mostly a call to pass the Save Act.

00:01:13.000 We are leading up to the election.
00:01:15.000 He's trying to activate the base to go out and vote in large numbers in the midterms, presumably to preserve the possibility of passing the Save Act in the last couple of years of his term, because it looks unlikely to pass right now.
00:01:26.000 Well, in the speech, the president unleashed some information about the voter rolls and the insecurity of current voter ID rules and a lot of other issues.
00:01:33.000 And we should check all of it out.
00:01:34.000 And President Trump is, of course, totally right when he says that election security is deeply, deeply important.
00:01:40.000 I mean, I take this stuff seriously.
00:01:42.000 You should take it seriously.
00:01:43.000 We all should take it seriously.
00:01:44.000 If we don't trust our elections, we have a systemic problem that is almost unfixable in the United States.
00:01:49.000 And of course, I'm not particularly shocked that America's enemies take advantage of our open society, our good and just and exceptionally liberty oriented society.
00:01:58.000 But here's the thing the real story of the speech is what China was doing.
00:02:03.000 Let's be clear China is not a strategic opponent, they're not a country with whom we should seek conciliatory relations. 0.84

00:02:50.000 But let's start at the beginning President Trump's focus last night on election security.
00:02:53.000 So the president gets up because this primetime address was covered by some networks, but not others.
00:02:58.000 This, of course, ticked off the president, who suggested maybe withdrawing the broadcast licenses of particular networks that didn't decide to air his primetime address.
00:03:06.000 That's not really going to happen.
00:03:07.000 In any case, the president correctly said last night that Americans deserve to know that their vote is secure.
00:03:15.000 Every American deserves to know that when they cast their vote, that vote will be counted accurately in a system, and that is to make that system secure, one where cheating and interference are not just difficult, but virtually impossible.
00:03:32.000 Unfortunately, the system we have today falls catastrophically short of that standard.
00:03:40.000 Now, again, he is not totally wrong about all of this, and he outlined a bunch of areas of concern in his speech.
00:03:47.000 He outlined China.
00:03:49.000 This is, again, I think the deep underlying issue here acquiring voter files.
00:03:53.000 Here's what the president had to say about that.
00:03:56.000 Over a period of years, starting during the 2020 election cycle, the People's Republic of China carried out what is believed to be the largest compromise of election data in history, resulting in China's illicit acquisition of 220 million U.S. voter files.
00:04:17.000 That information includes names, addresses, phone numbers, political party preferences, and other sensitive data that would be needed to register to vote and engage in other nefarious activities, which is exactly what was happening.
00:04:34.000 Now, again, the accusation here is not that China hacked voting machines or changed voter tabulation outcomes or anything.
00:04:41.000 It's that they gained access to hundreds of millions of voter records.
00:04:44.000 Now, again, some of that is public information, right?
00:04:45.000 You or I could gain access to a lot of voter records because voter registration is, in many states, public information.
00:04:51.000 The question is why they were doing that.
00:04:53.000 And the answer is that they were doing that in order to manipulate American citizens.
00:04:57.000 The idea was they're going to do a deep dive into the registration status of Americans and then use that information in order to target Americans.
00:05:05.000 And the president contended last night that there were members of the deep state, meaning people who are career appointees in the executive branch, who spent the year 2020 suppressing information about China meddling essentially on behalf of Democrats, was the accusation.
00:05:20.000 Members of the deep state, a very, very famous group of people, in many cases, in our intelligence agency, worked to actively suppress. and downplay information about the extent of China's sinister election meddling, covering it up from both the president and the American people like nobody thought was possible.
00:05:42.000 U.S. spy agencies began learning about the compromise of voter registration files in 2020 when they discovered that tens of millions of voter data, think of that, tens of millions of voters' data in 18 states have been bought, stolen, or hacked by China.
00:06:04.000 Yet those responsible for sounding the alarm instead kept the information secret and hidden.
00:06:11.000 They did not disclose to me as president or to anyone else, and to the best of our knowledge, they did not inform Congress.
00:06:21.000 Okay, so the president went on to claim that our elections are not secure and that we've been lied to about the security of our elections.
00:06:30.000 The third set of documents we are releasing proves that for many years.
00:06:35.000 Americans were blatantly lied to about the security of our election infrastructure, including electronic voting machines and ballot counting systems.

00:06:54.000 The reality is there are potential hacks to voting machines.
00:06:56.000 That does not mean that we have evidence that the machines were hacked or that the outcomes were changed or that hundreds of thousands of votes were simply dismissed or anything like that.

00:08:52.000 And that's exactly what happened, conspiring to digitally rig their own country's elections in 2020.

00:09:03.000 Okay, so the president also declassified some documents regarding alleged voter fraud in Michigan.
00:09:08.000 He claimed that the FBI had detected large scale voter registration operations, including people who were getting gift cards for fraudulent voter registration forms.

00:09:17.000 Pay, play, and cheat last night.
00:09:18.000 Again, if all of that's true, investigations and prosecutions.
00:09:21.000 Let's do that.

00:09:23.000 And then the president finally pointed out the idea that there are a bunch of non citizens who are registered to vote in federal elections.
00:09:30.000 I'll explain what he means in a moment.
00:09:33.000 According to the DHS review, state voter rolls and public records, they identified approximately 278,000 non citizens who are registered to vote in federal elections.
00:09:47.000 Since Democrat states refuse to share their voter files, the real number is actually much higher than that.
00:09:56.000 Okay, so what does that mean?
00:09:58.000 Well, again, this is sort of in controversy.
00:10:00.000 There have been studies that have been done that suggest the potential of non citizens registered to vote in federal elections, but that's not the same thing as non citizens who are registered to vote in federal elections, just factually speaking.
00:10:09.000 So, for example, somebody is not born in the United States, they register to vote.
00:10:14.000 In between the time they were born in the United States and they registered to vote, they were naturalized.
00:10:18.000 Well, that doesn't automatically show up in the record search.
00:10:21.000 So if you're just matching birth certificate, for example, to voter registration and you don't look up immigration status, then you might come up with the possibility of potential non citizens registered to vote.
00:10:32.000 Also, the notion that you have widespread non citizen voting in the United States again, that is yet to be substantiated at any real level.
00:10:39.000 Maybe true, but we haven't seen lots of evidence to support that at this point. 0.99
00:10:43.000 Bottom line is this, though when the president says that Congress should pass the SAVE Act, obviously that's true.
00:10:47.000 The SAVE Act is significantly more prophylactic than it is corrective.
00:10:50.000 What I mean by that is that it has a bunch of provisions that are designed to prevent the possibility of fraud.
00:10:55.000 It is not in and of itself an acknowledgement that all sorts of American elections have been stolen.
00:11:00.000 It is an acknowledgement that there are flaws in the system that can prevent us from losing faith in the electoral system.
00:11:06.000 Here is the president stumping for the Save America Act last night.
00:11:11.000 But most importantly, addressing this crisis of election security demands that Congress must pass the Save America Act.
00:11:22.000 How easy is that to do unless you want to cheat?
00:11:27.000 The only reason you wouldn't do it is you want to cheat because your policies are so bad.
00:11:34.000 Okay, well, I mean, I think that the people who oppose the Save Act generally are certainly a lot more loose about election restrictions than people who would like to pass the Save Act.
00:11:47.000 And yes, there are some of those people who would love to cheat, undoubtedly.
00:11:51.000 The Save Act itself, Now, basically, the provisions should be relatively uncontroversial.
00:11:58.000 The House has already passed a standalone version of the Save Act in February of 26, obviously.
00:12:02.000 And they're currently trying to overcome the 60 vote threshold in the Senate, the filibuster threshold.
00:12:07.000 The president has talked about nuking the filibuster, so has the vice president.
00:12:10.000 That's not going to happen.
00:12:12.000 They've talked about linking the Save Act to a funding bill and then passing it through budget reconciliation, which doesn't actually require a 60 vote threshold.
00:12:20.000 I think that's unlikely to happen.
00:12:22.000 What the Save Act actually requires is mandatory proof of citizenship for voter registration.
00:12:26.000 So, a driver's license is insufficient.
00:12:28.000 It would require nationwide voter ID at the polls.
00:12:32.000 It would purge the voter rolls of people who have more than one address, for example.
00:12:37.000 It would give criminal penalties for election workers who commit voter fraud.
00:12:41.000 I mean, all of that seems fairly commonsensical.

00:13:12.000 He's been focused in On election security since 2020, of course, in ways that I like and ways that I don't like.
00:13:19.000 But the underlying story here, and to me, the significantly more important story, is who's doing the election subversion?
00:13:26.000 Who's doing it?
00:13:28.000 So, one declassified document, which appears to be from the sort of national intelligence wing.
00:13:33.000 And again, some of these documents, whenever you compile intelligence reports, you have a bunch of inputs.
00:13:40.000 Some of those inputs get ignored, some of them end up in full on DNI briefings and all the rest of it.
00:13:46.000 One of these documents said, Ahead of the 2020 presidential elections, China had extensive plans to utilize potential, and then it's blacked out, and cyber operations to sway public opinion against the Trump administration and international opinion against the U.S. government.
00:14:01.000 The China plans were designed to exploit U.S. societal fissures and vulnerabilities to influence U.S. and other audiences, and by extension, U.S. government decision making.
00:14:09.000 The plans addressed several scenarios, including military conflict between the United States and China, as well as other potential crises. 0.71

00:14:18.000 Was attempting to exploit U.S. fissures and vulnerabilities, perceived or real, including racial tensions. 0.56
00:14:23.000 And here they would allege that white people hate black people, incite demonstrations and marches as evidence of racial divides, increase the level of conflict between police and anti racism activists, and feed any sense that U.S. law enforcement resents the U.S. government and people of color.

00:14:43.000 They wanted to ramp up political party disagreements, disagreements between Congress and the Trump administration.
00:14:52.000 They wanted to ramp up international propaganda.
00:14:55.000 And, said this intelligence suggestion, China had developed capabilities to project themes on these topics into social media TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and others, as well as mainstream media through a variety of overt and hidden influencers and media contributors.
00:15:08.000 One of the options included gathering information on senior U.S. government officials to influence public opinion on those officials.
00:15:15.000 Now, we should have suspected all this.
00:15:17.000 This has been longtime communist policy dating all the way back to the Soviet Union, these sort of subversion operations.
00:15:22.000 Demoralization operations.
00:15:24.000 But Catherine Harridge, the former Fox News reporter, she had a report back in April that talked about this.
00:15:31.000 She reported that the CIA, which was led by Director Gina Haspel, would not document the Chinese influence operations in a formal way out of concern that President Trump would use the intelligence to his advantage.
00:15:41.000 Presumably, this is the sort of deep state Trump is talking about.
00:15:45.000 Apparently, senior intelligence officials are accused of heavy handed editing of a whistleblower's report about China's sweeping influence operations during the 2020 election cycle.
00:15:55.000 In some instances, according to Harridge, senior CIA officials are accused of taking pen to paper to strike sections because the intelligence assessments would help Trump.
00:16:05.000 A senior intelligence official emphasized that in 2020, China was not held to the same standard as Russia and other adversaries, including North Korea, Iran, and as proxy Hezbollah.
00:16:14.000 The official said Chinese influence operations were consistently downplayed while Russian activities were routinely amplified.
00:16:21.000 Now, presumably, that would be because the left suggested that Russia wanted Trump and China wanted Biden in 2020.
00:16:26.000 The intelligence community assessment called Cyber Operations Enabling Expansive Digital Authoritarianism warned that Chinese intelligence officials analyzed multiple U.S. states' election voter registration data to conduct public opinion analysis on the 2020 U.S. general election.
00:16:46.000 And Harris points out that the current CIA director John Ratcliffe, back in 2021, when he was the DNI, indicated that the intelligence community had downplayed and politicized China's malign efforts concerning 2020.
00:17:01.000 So here's the bottom line.
00:17:03.000 Of course, election security.
00:17:04.000 But election security is a defensive measure, right?
00:17:06.000 It's our Iron Dome, it's our way of preventing foreign interference.
00:17:09.000 But that is not sufficient.
00:17:12.000 The underlying story here is not really about election security, it's about the enemies who are seeking to wreck our system by using the means against us. 0.98

00:20:20.000 The president has asked in the new National Defense Authorization Act, he has asked for a significant upgrade in our military capacity, including with regard to things like Patriots and FADs.
00:20:32.000 Democrats are stalling this out on the basis that they're angry about the Iran war.
00:20:35.000 Now, first of all, we should point out Iran does not exist as even a baseline military power without Chinese and Russian help.
00:20:41.000 They don't.
00:20:43.000 These are people who could not construct an IKEA box, but somehow they have fairly sophisticated weaponry courtesy of the Chinese. 0.97
