Summary

As news broke of the WikiLeaks release of thousands of Democratic National Committee emails demonstrating DNC coordination with the media and the Hillary Clinton campaign to help sink Bernie Sanders, the media began spinning this was all the work of the nefarious Russians working to get Donald Trump elected. Except, two things can be true at once: The DNC can be a deeply corrupt pro-Hillary super PAC, and the Russians can actually be stumping for Trump. According to cybersecurity experts, many cybersecurity experts are now saying the Russians are responsible for last month s hack of the DNC, and that s what s going to come home to roost if the Russians did indeed hack Hillary s server. And she s got to be up nights thinking about the possibility that Putin dumps her destroyed emails publicly one week before the Democratic National Convention. Oh boy, I'm sure you'll agree that that would be politically delicious. And remember, this is an election in which there are no good outcomes. The same Putin currently slapping Hillary through WikiLeaks apparently wants Donald Trump president for a reason. And it's not because he s a bad guy. It s because he likes Donald Trump. And that s why he s running for president. Ben Shapiro is a writer and host of The Ben Shapiro Show on The Daily Wire. He's a writer, podcaster, comedian, and podcaster. 00:00:00.000 As news broke of the WikiLeaks release of thousands of Democratic National Committee emails demonstrating DNC coordination with the media and the Hillary Clinton campaign to help sink the candidacy of Bernie Sanders, the media began spinning.
00:00:13.000 This was all the work of the nefarious Russians working to get Donald Trump elected.
00:00:17.000 Representative Adam Schiff, Democrat in California.
00:00:20.000 He's the ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
00:00:22.000 He said, quote, Given Donald Trump's well-known admiration for Putin and his belittling of NATO, the Russians have both the means and the motive to engage in a hack of the DNC and the dump of its emails prior to the Democratic Convention, unquote.
00:00:35.000 Apparently, Yvonne Drago is sitting somewhere behind a computer muttering, if she dies, she dies.
00:00:41.000 Except that two things can be true at once.
00:00:43.000 The DNC can be a deeply corrupt pro-Hillary super PAC, and the Russians can actually be stumping for Trump.
00:00:48.000 According to Eli Lake of Bloomberg, quote, many cybersecurity experts, as well as the Hillary Clinton campaign, are now saying the Russians are responsible for last month's hack of the DNC.
00:00:57.000 Here's the New York Times.
00:00:58.000 Quote, researchers have concluded that the National Committee was breached by two Russian intelligence agencies, which were the same attackers behind previous Russian cyber operations at the White House, the State Department, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff last year.
00:01:10.000 So here was Trump's response to these reports via Twitter.
00:01:17.000 Well, Putin does like him.
00:01:24.000 And Trump sort of likes Putin.
00:01:25.000 Essentially, the only major platform change at the Republican National Convention involved the Trump team tearing out a section endorsing giving the Ukrainians weapons they needed to defend themselves from Russian invasion.
00:01:35.000 The original amendment said, quote, The Trump people had the amendment tabled, and then they amended it from providing lethal defensive weapons to Ukraine to, quote, providing appropriate assistance.
00:01:56.000 Then there's the cozy relationship between the Trump campaign manager, a guy named Paul Manafort, and the Russians.
00:02:01.000 Manafort worked as a lobbyist for former Ukrainian strongman Viktor Yanukovych for over a decade.
00:02:06.000 Yanukovych was, of course, working closely with Vladimir Putin.
00:02:09.000 And last week, if you remember, Trump said openly he might allow Russia to overrun NATO countries in the Baltics.
00:02:15.000 So, all it took for Democrats to worry about the Russians was their hacks doing political harm to Democratic God Queen Hillary Clinton.
00:02:23.000 The Democrats didn't care when Hillary put her emails on unsecured servers, exposing classified material to prying eyes.
00:02:29.000 They openly mocked Mitt Romney when he said the Russians provided the greatest geopolitical threat to America.
00:02:34.000 And they didn't care when Putin took over Syrian policy and invaded Ukraine.
00:02:38.000 But when it comes to Hillary, by God, this madness must end.
00:02:42.000 It won't, though.
00:02:43.000 The chickens may come home to roost if the Russians did indeed hack Hillary's server.
00:02:47.000 And she's got to be up nights thinking about the possibility that Putin dumps her destroyed emails publicly one week before the election.
00:02:54.000 All of which would be politically delicious.
00:02:56.000 But remember, this is an election in which there are no good outcomes.
00:02:59.000 The same Putin currently slapping Hillary through WikiLeaks apparently wants Donald Trump president for a reason.
00:03:05.000 Oh boy.
00:03:05.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:03:06.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:03:13.000 Okay, so here we are.
00:03:15.000 And again, welcome to our friends on Facebook Live.
00:03:18.000 We will be going about 15 minutes here, and then we will be moving over to dailywire.com.
00:03:22.000 Tons to get to today.
00:03:24.000 We're going to start, obviously, with the dumpster fire that is now raging out of control at the DNC.
00:03:28.000 See, last week you thought the RNC was crazy.
00:03:31.000 So the Democrats said, anything you can do, we can do worse.
00:03:34.000 So they decided to come along and do their own version of this, and it is high-freaking-larious.
00:03:40.000 It's really, really funny, guys.
00:03:41.000 It's hilarious.
00:03:42.000 Okay, so let's start with this.
00:03:44.000 If you recall, just a few months ago, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, right, the head of the Democratic National Committee, she was accused by the Bernie Sanders campaign of basically rigging the primaries in favor of Hillary Clinton.
00:03:55.000 And she said, no, this is nonsense.
00:03:57.000 No one would ever do anything like this.
00:03:59.000 This is clip 25.
00:04:00.000 Here's flashback, Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
00:04:02.000 To the skeptics who say that the superdelegates are really just there to make sure that, you know, the party gets who the party wants, and the party wants Hillary Clinton, what do you say to them?
00:04:10.000 Because we've had unpledged delegates since 1984, and there isn't one time that we've had our nominee be elected by anything other than pledged delegates.
00:04:20.000 Conspiracy theories are just that.
00:04:22.000 Conspiracy theories are just that, except when they're really out to get you, because it turns out now the Russians hacked the Democratic National Committee and they released 20,000 emails basically showing that the DNC wanted Hillary all along, which is not that crazy because Bernie Sanders is a wild man, but it does show that this thing was rigged, and that was Bernie's original accusation.
00:04:41.000 So, now all of this stuff comes out, and that's when it gets super fun, because the Bernie Sanders supporters are not taking this lying down.
00:04:48.000 I mean, they should have just passed out some weed to the Bernie Sanders supporter and told him to go home, but instead, they decided that they would have them there and things got really crazy.
00:04:56.000 So, it's really funny.
00:04:57.000 Here is Debbie Wasserman Schultz this morning, Jar Jar Binks, this morning, speaking to a crowd, and it did not go the way that Jar Jar wanted it.
00:05:06.000 Misa!
00:05:07.000 All right, everybody, now, settle down.
00:05:18.000 Alright, we have a big program.
00:05:20.000 We have a big program today.
00:05:22.000 Let's hear, let's be respectful.
00:05:25.000 Please be quiet so Debbie can speak.
00:05:27.000 I just want to point out that Kyron on MSNBC, Wasserman Schultz receives cheers at Florida delegation breakfast.
00:05:35.000 Does this sound like cheering to you, gang?
00:05:37.000 She's being booed off the stage.
00:05:39.000 I mean, she legitimately has to leave.
00:05:40.000 Like, right after this, she leaves.
00:05:41.000 And I love when she says, can we just calm down?
00:05:43.000 Let's all just get it under control.
00:05:44.000 Okay, school marm.
00:05:45.000 How about you get it under control, considering you're the one whose charge was not to rig this thing, and you rigged this thing.
00:05:51.000 So things get even more awkward from there because this is great.
00:05:54.000 I mean, honestly, look, if we're going to hit the end of the world in this election, we might as well have some fun doing it, gang.
00:05:59.000 And this is the fun part.
00:06:00.000 People keep saying, I say to myself, I can't wait for this terrible election cycle to be over.
00:06:04.000 And then I realize that one of these two people will be president.
00:06:06.000 And I go, uh huh.
00:06:08.000 So this is actually the fun part.
00:06:09.000 So you might as well have some fun.
00:06:10.000 So Bernie Sanders, Bernie Sanders, he sees all of this and he sees all the emails come out.
00:06:15.000 Deborah Wasserman Schultz has now resigned, right?
00:06:17.000 She's now dropped her job.
00:06:18.000 This is my favorite thing about it.
00:06:20.000 She leaves.
00:06:21.000 The person who replaces her is Donna Brazile.
00:06:23.000 Donna Brazile is also a member of Hillary Clinton's kind of inner cabinet.
00:06:28.000 So that really didn't do anything.
00:06:29.000 And here's the best part.
00:06:31.000 Debbie Wasserman Schultz, just a moment ago, she was saying she wanted to gavel in the convention, and then she realized that she would basically be booed all the way through, so she said, I'm not going to gavel at it anymore.
00:06:40.000 The person who replaces her is Stephanie Rawlings Blake.
00:06:43.000 If you remember that name, that's because she's the mayor of Baltimore who said that when there were riots in her city, she wanted to give the rioters space to destroy.
00:06:51.000 She's the one gaveling in the convention.
00:06:54.000 Pretty amazing stuff.
00:06:55.000 So, Bernie Sanders, you know, first he said yesterday, he said Debbie Wasserman Schultz should resign.
00:07:01.000 I asked and demanded Debbie Wasserman Schultz's resignation many, many months ago, and I state that again.
00:07:10.000 I don't think she is qualified to be the chair of the DNC, not only for these awful emails which revealed the prejudice of the DNC, but also because we need a party that reaches out to working people and young people, and I don't think her leadership style is doing that.
00:07:31.000 Okay, and then Donna Brazile comes out and she says, well, Debbie Wasserman Schultz has to leave.
00:07:35.000 She has to leave.
00:07:37.000 First of all, as vice chair, I went over yesterday to see the Sanders campaign and I apologize.
00:07:44.000 I think the allegations, the emails, the insensitivity, the stupidity needs to be addressed and we are going to address it.
00:07:54.000 So what does that mean?
00:07:55.000 It means that this this first of all this is this is not just a one-day leak there will be a Substantial number of emails that I understand that will be leaked over the next couple of days weeks months Because it was not a one-month breach or a two-month breach Come to find out the the Russian hackers, and I have no conspiracy theories in my hands.
00:08:17.000 I don't know Bobby Books had some
00:08:21.000 They've been involved.
00:08:22.000 They were in our system at the DNC for well over a year, so we will learn more.
00:08:28.000 Will some people have to step down, be removed, resign?
00:08:33.000 I'm sure at the end of the day, yes.
00:08:35.000 Okay, this is pretty spectacular stuff.
00:08:37.000 She says that W. Wasserman Schultz must step down.
00:08:39.000 Then, of course, who replaces W. Wasserman Schultz?
00:08:41.000 That lady, right?
00:08:42.000 Only one problem.
00:08:42.000 Here's some stuff from the WikiLeaks emails about Donna Brazile.
00:08:46.000 So it says, this is from Donna Brazile to the DNC, quote,
00:09:05.000 Why?
00:09:06.000 Because I will cuss out the Sanders camp.
00:09:09.000 That lady is the new head of the DNC, right?
00:09:12.000 Taking over for the lady who was just ousted.
00:09:14.000 There's another one, too.
00:09:15.000 Here's another WikiLeaks email.
00:09:17.000 Here's Donna Brazile to the DNC.
00:09:19.000 Okay, so originally she was written, Donna, I wanted to make sure you saw the statement yesterday on the Sanders endorsement.
00:09:24.000 She said, I saw it this a.m.
00:09:25.000 How stupid.
00:09:26.000 Don't know how to respond to Bernie anymore.
00:09:28.000 That's the lady who's taking over the DNC so she can play honest broker with the Bernie Sanders supporters.
00:09:34.000 But don't worry, gang, it gets even better.
00:09:36.000 It's awesome.
00:09:37.000 So here's the next thing, right?
00:09:39.000 So Hillary Clinton comes out and she has to make a statement now on Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigning because she had rigged this whole system.
00:09:45.000 So this is it.
00:09:46.000 I love this so much.
00:09:47.000 It makes me so happy.
00:09:48.000 So here's her statement, quote.
00:09:50.000 I want to thank my longtime friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her leadership of the Democratic National Committee and her service on the Intergalactic Council over the past five years.
00:10:00.000 I am grateful to Debbie for getting the Democratic Party to this year's historic convention in Philadelphia.
00:10:04.000 I know this week's events will be a success thanks to her hard work and leadership.
00:10:08.000 There's simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie, which is why I am glad she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign's 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally in Florida and in other key states.
00:10:25.000 I look forward to campaigning with Debbie in Florida and helping in her re-election bid.
00:10:29.000 Okay, so, here's how this works.
00:10:31.000 Debbie Wasserman Schultz is at the DNC, rigged the election for Hillary Clinton, right, put her thumb on the scale for Hillary, she leaves, Hillary hires her.
00:10:40.000 Right, that's how this works.
00:10:41.000 And she's right now, Hillary right now is trying to consolidate the party around herself, right, and she wants Bernie Sanders to jump on board.
00:10:48.000 Chuck Todd over at NBC News, he says, oh my god, this is insane, this is really not particularly smart.
00:10:53.000 Well, very interesting decision, though, by the Clinton campaign to essentially employ her, because then that is only going to make some Sanders people go, aha!
00:11:02.000 This is her.
00:11:03.000 She owes Debbie something, and that's why they... It's an interesting decision.
00:11:07.000 It may only feed some conspiracy theories anyway.
00:11:09.000 Okay, yeah, you think?
00:11:11.000 You think?
00:11:11.000 Maybe because that's true.
00:11:13.000 Because it was.
00:11:14.000 Debbie's a loyal gal, and she's running the DNC, and she's ensuring that I take the crown.
00:11:19.000 First of all, it is pretty amazing that Hillary felt the necessity to use the DNC to cram herself down over Bernie Sanders.
00:11:25.000 I mean, Bernie Sanders is a 74-year-old nutbag socialist, and she still can't put him away.
00:11:29.000 She has to do Watergate-style stuff, where she's using the DNC to target her political opposition.
00:11:35.000 It's pretty incredible.
00:11:36.000 We haven't gotten to the best part yet.
00:11:39.000 Really, it's so good.
00:11:41.000 Hillary Clinton is on 60 Minutes and she's asked about this email scandal, about the DNC email scandal.
00:11:47.000 Now understand, 60 Minutes, notice this little icon in the corner, it says 60 Minutes Overtime.
00:11:52.000 So, on 60 Minutes they're asked a bunch of questions.
00:11:54.000 She's sitting next to Tim Kaine, her
00:11:56.000 Boring vanilla vice presidential pick.
00:11:58.000 You can't separate Tim Cain from legitimately another white man above the age of 50 walking around in America.
00:12:04.000 And they're sitting together talking and they don't make any news.
00:12:06.000 There's only one piece of news.
00:12:07.000 What she has to say about the email scandal, right?
00:12:10.000 60 Minutes slices it out and puts it online.
00:12:13.000 They don't broadcast it.
00:12:14.000 They put it 60 Minutes overtime.
00:12:15.000 So they put it on their website because Scott Pelley and CBS News are a disgrace.
00:12:19.000 So here's Scott Pelley asking Hillary Clinton about the email scandal from the DNC.
00:12:24.000 And they seem to have their thumb on the scale for you.
00:12:27.000 They seem to be working against Bernie Sanders, their fellow Democrat.
00:12:32.000 Again, I don't know anything about these emails.
00:12:38.000 I haven't followed it.
00:12:40.000 But I'm very proud of the campaign that I ran.
00:12:42.000 And I'm very proud of the campaign that Senator Sanders ran.
00:12:45.000 In your view, any effort in the DNC to favor one candidate or another would have been improper?
00:12:54.000 Again, I don't have any information about this, and so I can't answer specifically.
00:12:59.000 We ran our campaign.
00:13:01.000 We ran hard.
00:13:02.000 We worked to have as many successes as possible.
00:13:07.000 I'm very proud that we got more votes than anybody else running, including Donald Trump.
00:13:12.000 And I am very grateful for the campaign that Senator Sanders ran, because we ran a campaign based on issues, not insults.
00:13:20.000 So I can't speak to what people who were not working for me,
00:13:23.000 Okay, so I love that.
00:13:25.000 He asks her straight out, would it be corrupt, maybe, if you were to do this routine?
00:13:27.000 If there was a thumb on the scale, would that be corrupt?
00:13:29.000 And she goes,
00:13:50.000 I don't know anything about corrupt.
00:13:52.000 I don't know anything about the DNC.
00:13:54.000 I don't know.
00:13:55.000 What are you speaking of?
00:13:56.000 Who am I?
00:13:57.000 Why am I here?
00:13:58.000 Where did I get this pantsuit?
00:14:00.000 Did I get this pantsuit from Violet Beauregard?
00:14:03.000 Where is it from?
00:14:04.000 So it's just amazing.
00:14:05.000 Okay, so here's the punchline.
00:14:06.000 So all of this happens.
00:14:07.000 Now Bernie Sanders is in the world's most awkward position.
00:14:10.000 And Bernie Sanders is supposed to endorse her today.
00:14:12.000 He's giving a big keynote speech tonight.
00:14:14.000 So he's addressing supporters before the big keynote speech tonight.
00:14:17.000 And Bernie Sanders doesn't have it in him to do the Ted Cruz routine.
00:14:20.000 He's not going to get up there and not endorse Hillary Clinton.
00:14:22.000 So he tries it out this morning, and he's already endorsed her, the endorsement of Hillary Clinton.
00:14:27.000 And it goes extremely poorly.
00:14:29.000 This is clip 26.
00:14:30.000 This just happened, like literally a few minutes ago.
00:14:33.000 And we have got to elect Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine.
00:14:50.000 I love it so.
00:14:58.000 And he's just standing there with his arm up in the air, doesn't know what to do, he doesn't know where he is, he's just, I do not know why I am here, or why I am endorsing this old terrible woman, but since I must do that, and I like the beach ball in the front, it's just a party for the Bernie bros, they're just beating around the beach ball and booing him when he says endorse Hillary Clinton.
00:15:16.000 Oh, spectacular, spectacular stuff.
00:15:18.000 So it's, this is the beauty, okay?
00:15:20.000 So the Democratic Party's falling apart.
00:15:21.000 So right now in the polls, Donald Trump is now ahead.
00:15:23.000 He's jumped into a lead in most of the polls.
00:15:26.000 There have been like four polls since the convention.
00:15:28.000 On average, he's up about three points.
00:15:29.000 He actually had a significant bump.
00:15:31.000 We'll talk about the bump in a little while, because it really does speak to both Hillary and Trump.
00:15:37.000 But it is amazing that one of the reasons that Hillary Clinton is falling apart is because she's so wildly incompetent, everyone hates her, she's so corrupt, and it would just be—wouldn't it just be poetic justice?
00:15:49.000 If she set up this private email server to protect herself from public scrutiny, and then the Russians hacked it, and then the Russians dumped all of her deleted emails on the public two weeks before the election, wouldn't that just be—forget about Trump versus Hillary for a second.
00:16:02.000 Just in terms of Hillary, wouldn't it be amazing, delicious, wonderful, poetic justice?
00:16:07.000 And wouldn't it be just the custard pie of poetic justice if that were to happen?
00:16:11.000 Oh, it would be so glorious.
00:16:12.000 In every way, it would be just fantastic.
00:16:14.000 Well, this brings us to the end, unfortunately, of our livestream, but we have so much more to cover here on The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:16:19.000 Go to dailywire.com to see the rest, or you can download it later from SoundCloud or iTunes.

00:16:30.000 Otherwise, you're listening.
00:16:31.000 We're going to keep going right now.
00:16:39.000 Okay, so now that we've caught the wave, we can continue.
00:16:41.000 So, here is the, so, okay, so, a couple of things.
00:16:45.000 We'll get into the Trump polling in one second.
00:16:47.000 But Hillary is so wildly incompetent, and Tim Kaine, they're now trying to, now we've got the whole Kevin Bacon and Animal House situation going, right?
00:16:55.000 We've got the, like, everything's on fire, people are running around behind Kevin Bacon, he's going, everything is fine, stay calm.
00:17:02.000 Here's Tim Kaine doing the Kevin Bacon routine from Animal House.
00:17:05.000 I was a DNC chair, so during the first Obama term, you're not going to find anybody at the DNC or the RNC or any political organization who is a complete agnostic who doesn't have an opinion about a candidate.
00:17:18.000 I mean, those of us who are kind of in the realm, we got opinions about people.
00:17:22.000 But there's a difference between having an opinion about somebody, having a candidate that you prefer over somebody else.
00:17:28.000 There's a difference between that and trying to alter the outcome.
00:17:31.000 Okay, that's pretty spectacular.
00:17:32.000 So he says, there's a difference between just endorsing Hillary and trying to alter the outcome.
00:17:37.000 Except if you actually read the emails, which make clear they're trying to alter the outcome, trotting out particular narratives in favor of Hillary Clinton.
00:17:43.000 And I mean, how much of a sad sack does Tim Kaine look like in this particular freeze frame?
00:17:48.000 I mean, he's just sitting there and Hillary Clinton is sitting there going like, oh, you're my little stepping stool, aren't you, Tim Kaine?
00:17:54.000 You shall bring me power!
00:17:56.000 And he's sitting there like, oh my God.
00:17:58.000 My life.
00:17:59.000 That's what all these VP candidates do now.
00:18:00.000 That's all they do.
00:18:01.000 They sit there, and Mike Pence, Tim Kaine, they probably go somewhere after these conventions are over and just drink heavily.
00:18:07.000 They're like, ah, God, can you believe what I made of my life?
00:18:11.000 That's where it is now.
00:18:12.000 Okay, fine.
00:18:13.000 So, Hillary is terrible at everything, and this just demonstrates, again, she's a Nixonian figure, a deeply Nixonian figure.
00:18:19.000 Hiring Debbie Wasserman, Schultz, the whole thing is in disarray.
00:18:22.000 It's all falling apart.
00:18:23.000 So, what do the Democrats do?
00:18:26.000 What do the Democrats do?
00:18:27.000 They blame the Russians.
00:18:28.000 So here is the Democratic National Convention's Robby Mook.
00:18:34.000 He's the campaign manager for Hillary for America, and now he's going to blame the Russians.
00:18:40.000 I don't think it's coincidental that these emails were released on the eve of our convention here.
00:18:58.000 And that's disturbing.
00:19:00.000 And I think we need to be concerned about that.
00:19:01.000 I think we need to be concerned that we also saw last week at the Republican convention that Trump and his allies made changes to the Republican platform to make it more pro-Russian.
00:19:12.000 And we saw him talking about how NATO shouldn't intervene to defend, necessarily should intervene to defend our Eastern European allies if they're attacked by Russia.
00:19:20.000 So I think when you put all this together, it's a disturbing picture.
00:19:23.000 And I think voters need to reflect on that.
00:19:25.000 So I'll get to the disturbing picture in just a second, because the truth is what he's saying is not wholly untrue.
00:19:29.000 I mean, the fact is that Trump, as I said at the top, is very connected with the Russians, and the Russians are clearly doing things to his benefit, right?
00:19:37.000 I mean, and that's what presumably scares Hillary, is that at night she's waking up in a cold sweat, thinking that all her emails, her intimate emails with Huma, are gonna be released two weeks before the election by Vladimir Putin.
00:19:47.000 By the way, we're now learning, apparently, they're saying that the Russians actually dumped fake emails into this whole WikiLeaks thing.
00:19:54.000 We don't know what's real and what's fake anymore, so it's totally... This is wild stuff.
00:19:58.000 It's really wild stuff.
00:19:59.000 Now, all of this wouldn't make much of a difference if Hillary were even mildly competent.
00:20:04.000 Hillary is deeply incompetent.
00:20:06.000 So, as I mentioned, the polls have Trump jumping about six points.
00:20:09.000 They also show that 68% of Americans think Hillary is not honest and not trustworthy, which leads to the question, did the other 32% of Americans, were they dropped on their heads as children?
00:20:18.000 Because clearly she's not honest and she's not trustworthy.
00:20:21.000 But more than that, she is utterly tone-deaf.
00:20:23.000 She is super tone-deaf.
00:20:24.000 So I think there are a few reasons why Trump got a big bump from the convention.
00:20:28.000 I think the primary reason that Trump got a big bump from the convention is because Hillary is so tone-deaf.
00:20:33.000 So Trump gives this big speech last Thursday.
00:20:35.000 We didn't have a chance to talk about it because we don't have a Friday show.
00:20:38.000 This will be rectified soon, by the way.
00:20:39.000 But we didn't get a chance to talk about it.
00:20:42.000 My take on Trump's speech text was that it was very good.
00:20:44.000 I said this online.
00:20:46.000 I didn't like his delivery.
00:20:46.000 I thought he yelled his way through it.
00:20:49.000 The text was effective, and his approach was effective, so the entire media went nuts.
00:20:52.000 It's dark.
00:20:53.000 It's deep.
00:20:54.000 It's dank.
00:20:55.000 It's dark.
00:20:55.000 He's saying America's a terrible place.
00:20:57.000 Oh, God.
00:20:58.000 Okay, so here's the thing.
00:21:00.000 Most Americans think America's on the wrong track.
00:21:02.000 When Trump says we have a crime problem, most Americans go, yep, particularly when they're seeing cops shot in major cities across the United States.
00:21:10.000 When Trump says we have an ISIS problem, most Americans go,
00:21:13.000 Yeah.
00:21:14.000 Yeah, that's true.
00:21:15.000 See that?
00:21:16.000 When he says, our economy is not booming, most Americans go,
00:21:21.000 Yeah, yeah, I'm with you there.
00:21:24.000 Hillary comes out and Hillary does this routine where she acts like everything is hunky-dory because she can't run away from Obama's record because she's running on his record, so it puts her in a really awkward position.
00:21:34.000 Seven out of ten Americans believe this is why Barack Obama has really taken the heart out of the Democratic Party on the local and state level.
00:21:40.000 Most Americans still like Obama, they just think he's a crappy president.
00:21:44.000 So he has a 56% approval rating, but it's like 70% of Americans think the country's moving in the wrong direction.
00:21:50.000 How do you reconcile those two?
00:21:51.000 People like Obama personally, but they think he's really not a very good president.
00:21:55.000 They're not a very effective president.
00:21:56.000 In any case...
00:21:57.000 Hillary makes a bunch of mistakes over the weekend.
00:22:00.000 So instead of her saying, all of the concerns that Donald Trump expressed are real and true, here are the better solutions, instead of doing that, she does the, no, he's slandering America, everything is great.
00:22:11.000 Most Americans don't think things are great.
00:22:13.000 Most Americans don't think things are great.
00:22:14.000 She's tone deaf, so she doesn't say that.
00:22:17.000 And then she's supremely tone deaf on a variety of issues.
00:22:21.000 Hillary Clinton is incredibly tone deaf.
00:22:24.000 She's tone-deaf when it comes to crime.
00:22:26.000 I mean, the Black Lives Matter movement is leading this convention.
00:22:29.000 Like, really leading this convention.
00:22:30.000 We mentioned last week that there are, I think, six or seven mothers of women who are associated with Black Lives Matter, or men associated with Black Lives Matter.
00:22:38.000 Their mothers are speaking at this convention, which is pretty amazing.
00:22:40.000 Picking Tim Kaine didn't do her any favors.
00:22:42.000 No one knows who the guy is.
00:22:43.000 It's not spicy.
00:22:44.000 It doesn't change the narrative.
00:22:45.000 And then she did this.
00:22:46.000 She played the victim over the weekend.
00:22:48.000 There's been a concerted effort to convince people like that young man.
00:23:00.000 Of something.
00:23:01.000 Nobody's quite sure what, but of something.
00:23:05.000 I often feel like there's the Hillary standard, and then there's the standard for everybody else.
00:23:09.000 What's the Hillary standard?
00:23:10.000 Well, it is, you know, a lot of, as you saw at the Republican convention, unfounded, inaccurate, mean-spirited attacks with no basis in truth.
00:23:22.000 I don't
00:23:43.000 I don't get upset about them anymore, but they are very regrettable.
00:23:47.000 Why do you put yourself through it?
00:23:49.000 Because I really believe in this country.
00:23:51.000 And boy, do I believe in it now more than ever after seeing what was presented last week.
00:23:57.000 I believe that we are better than what we are hearing in the political discourse.
00:24:03.000 I believe we can work together.
00:24:06.000 Uh... Okay, so she's terrible at this.
00:24:08.000 Scott Pelley, like, why do you put yourself through it, Hillary?
00:24:11.000 Why do you sacrifice for the people so?
00:24:14.000 Should we just make you a saint now?
00:24:16.000 I mean, like, you've done so many miracles in your lifetime, like... Dad, and also...
00:24:23.000 That thing, one time?
00:24:24.000 You're the best.
00:24:25.000 Why do you do it?
00:24:27.000 Why are you so wonderful?
00:24:29.000 I love you, Hillary Clinton.
00:24:31.000 It's just ridiculous.
00:24:32.000 But the point that she's making, I love that she says there's a double standard.
00:24:34.000 There's Clinton corruption in everybody else's.
00:24:36.000 Right.
00:24:37.000 Your kind of corruption would put anybody else in jail, gang.
00:24:39.000 The idea that Hillary Clinton is sitting there telling us that she's somehow being held to a different standard, she is.
00:24:45.000 It is a lower standard.
00:24:48.000 So she's tone-deaf.
00:24:49.000 I mean, playing herself as the victim is ridiculous.
00:24:51.000 Brushing off the DNC scandal, as we mentioned, is absolutely asinine.
00:24:55.000 Blaming the Russians?
00:24:57.000 It looks weak.
00:24:57.000 I mean, it's true, the Russians did this.
00:24:59.000 But it looks paranoid, and it looks like blame-shifting.
00:25:03.000 It's not the central issue.
00:25:04.000 The central issue isn't where the emails came from.
00:25:05.000 The central issue is the content of the emails, obviously.
00:25:08.000 Plus, everybody hates her.
00:25:09.000 Everybody thinks she's awful.
00:25:10.000 Even Barack Obama, who's out there stumping for Hillary Clinton today, he thinks Hillary is just deadly dull, and he basically said that the other day.
00:25:20.000 Is 11.
00:25:24.000 And what I would say would be that this is somebody who knows as much about domestic and foreign policy as anybody, is tough as nails, is motivated by what's best for America and ordinary people, understands that in this democracy that we have,
00:25:53.000 Things don't always happen as fast as we'd like.
00:25:55.000 And it requires compromise and grinding it out.
00:26:00.000 She's not always flashy.
00:26:02.000 And they're better speech makers.
00:26:06.000 But she knows her stuff.
00:26:08.000 More than anything.
00:26:10.000 I like that.
00:26:11.000 She's not very flashy.
00:26:13.000 And she's a pretty crappy speech maker.
00:26:17.000 But, could he wait any longer there before he gets to the punchline?
00:26:22.000 And Obama can't stand her.
00:26:23.000 Nobody can stand her because Hillary's terrible.
00:26:25.000 So that's why Hillary is dropping like a stone in these polls.
00:26:27.000 Trump looks like he gets the American people better than she does because he at least is willing to call out the problems.
00:26:33.000 As I've been saying for weeks, Trump is great at diagnostics and he's terrible at prognosis.
00:26:37.000 So he's the kind of guy who rightly identifies that you have cancer and then he suggests that the cure for cancer is to stick your head below the back tire of a Ford Explorer.
00:26:45.000 Right, so it's not, like his solutions are bad, but at least the diagnosis is good.
00:26:49.000 Hillary doesn't even bother with the diagnosis.
00:26:51.000 You come in with a giant tumor coming off the side of your head, and she's like, you're fine.
00:26:55.000 You're fine.
00:26:57.000 Don't worry about it.
00:26:58.000 Everything's cool.
00:26:59.000 I got this.
00:27:00.000 Right?
00:27:01.000 Nobody trusts her.
00:27:01.000 Nobody trusts her.
00:27:02.000 Okay.
00:27:03.000 So all of that said, the Democrats are just falling apart.
00:27:05.000 There are major divisions inside the Democratic Party.
00:27:08.000 On the right side of the aisle, there's a major consolidation.
00:27:10.000 And you're seeing it in the reaction to what Ted Cruz did last week.
00:27:13.000 So the new CNN poll, and it shows that Cruz's favorability among Republicans has dropped from 60% to 33% in one week.
00:27:19.000 And that was largely because of the setup that we discussed last Thursday, the kind of setup situation that Trump created where Cruz made a deal with him, and then Trump stabbed him directly in the kidney because he figured, okay, I can take care of this guy once and for all.
00:27:32.000 And Trump is a revenge politician.
00:27:34.000 It's all he cares about in life is revenge.
00:27:36.000 We'll get to that in just a second.
00:27:39.000 But it shows that right now, Republicans are desperate, desperate to come around Trump.
00:27:42.000 They're desperate to come around Trump.
00:27:44.000 So before we even get to that, it's time for a little bit, unfortunately,
00:27:49.000 Of bad Trump.
00:27:50.000 So the fact is that Trump right now should be leading by 10.
00:27:52.000 I mean, with all this chaos in the Democratic Party, he should be up big.
00:27:55.000 He's already up a little, which is good for Trump, obviously.
00:27:59.000 But here are some of the things that Donald Trump said over the weekend.
00:28:01.000 So Donald Trump was asked about David Duke.
00:28:03.000 David Duke is now running for Senate in Louisiana.
00:28:06.000 OK, and this is going to put the wood to some of the people who I've been talking to who keep saying, well, I'll vote for anybody as long as they're not a Democrat.
00:28:12.000 OK, well, what if it's David Duke?
00:28:14.000 I mean, I said this to someone I greatly—I said this to Dennis Prager on the air.
00:28:17.000 I said to Dennis Prager, you know, where would you draw the line?
00:28:19.000 He said—he said, give me an example.
00:28:21.000 I said, like, David Duke would probably be better than the Democrat in the Senate.
00:28:24.000 He couldn't really do anything about his racism, and he might vote the right way on justices.
00:28:27.000 And Dennis said that would be a bridge too far for me.
00:28:30.000 Well, now David Duke's actually running for the Senate, so we're going to find out whether this is true or not.
00:28:34.000 Chuck Todd asks Donald Trump about David Duke.
00:28:37.000 And as you recall, Donald Trump, months ago, he pretended he didn't know who David Duke was in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper.
00:28:43.000 Here is Donald Trump being asked about David Duke running for Senate by Chuck Todd.
00:28:47.000 David Duke announced his Senate candidacy.
00:28:50.000 claiming your agenda for his own, or essentially saying, glad that you spoke out.
00:28:56.000 Are you ready before you ask the question?
00:28:58.000 Newt Gingrich said, every Republican should repudiate this guy, no matter what it takes.
00:29:01.000 I did, and I do.
00:29:02.000 Are you ready?
00:29:02.000 Would you support a Democrat over David Duke, if that was what was necessary to defeat him?
00:29:07.000 I guess, depending on who the Democrat, but the answer would be yes.
00:29:10.000 Look, the answer is, as quick as you can say it.
00:29:13.000 In fact, I wanted to answer you before you.
00:29:15.000 Totally yesterday.
00:29:16.000 Because last time,
00:29:17.000 With another person in your position.
00:29:20.000 I did it very quickly and they said he didn't do it fast enough.
00:29:23.000 Rebuked.
00:29:23.000 Is that okay?
00:29:24.000 Rebuked.
00:29:25.000 Rebuked.
00:29:25.000 Done.
00:29:25.000 Done.
00:29:26.000 Okay, so notice that Trump isn't doing this on principle.
00:29:30.000 He's doing it because last time he got caught out on it, but I do love that even there, he says it depends on who the Democrat is, which is pretty amazing.
00:29:36.000 But in any case, so Trump does this, and that's not bad, Trump.
00:29:39.000 That's just Trump.
00:29:42.000 Now we get to some other Trump.
00:29:44.000 So Trump was asked about the Muslim ban, the idea of banning Muslims from the country.
00:29:49.000 Now, there is nothing unconstitutional, by the way, about religious discrimination against foreigners.
00:29:53.000 Really, there isn't.
00:29:54.000 The Constitution doesn't apply to foreigners.
00:29:56.000 So, it's very difficult to make the case on a constitutional, and not right or wrong, it's a Constitution question, a legal question.
00:30:03.000 Even leftist scholars will acknowledge the Constitution basically has nothing to say about whether a certain group of people are barred from entering the country or not, as long as they're not citizens.
00:30:13.000 But here is Trump talking about the Constitution and Islam.
00:30:17.000 I'm looking now at territories.
00:30:18.000 People are so upset when I use the word Muslim.
00:30:20.000 Oh, you can't use the word Muslim.
00:30:22.000 Remember this.
00:30:23.000 And I'm okay with that, because I'm talking territory instead of Muslim.
00:30:26.000 But just remember this.
00:30:28.000 Our constitution is great.
00:30:31.000 But it doesn't necessarily give us the right to commit suicide.
00:30:35.000 Okay?
00:30:36.000 Now, we have a religious, you know, everybody wants to be protected.
00:30:40.000 And that's great.
00:30:40.000 And that's the wonderful part of our constitution.
00:30:43.000 I view it differently.
00:30:45.000 Why are we committing suicide?
00:30:46.000 Why are we doing that?
00:30:47.000 You know what?
00:30:48.000 I live with our Constitution.
00:30:50.000 I love our Constitution.
00:30:51.000 I cherish our Constitution.
00:30:53.000 We're making it territorial.
00:30:55.000 We have nations, and we'll come out.
00:30:56.000 I'm going to be coming out over the next few weeks with a number of the places, and it's very complex.
00:31:02.000 I don't know what he's talking about, but his take on the Constitution is so ridiculous there that he doesn't know the first thing about the Constitution.
00:31:08.000 First of all, the Constitution, as I say, applies to domestic citizens.
00:31:11.000 That's all he has to say.
00:31:13.000 Right, if he really believes in the Muslim ban that he's been espousing for months.
00:31:17.000 But for him to imply that the Constitution of the United States is some sort of suicide pact, the last person who said that was Lincoln, and he was suspending the writ of habeas corpus at the time, and we were in the middle of a civil war.
00:31:26.000 I don't think that that's the case right now.
00:31:28.000 Trump has also been reaching out heavily to Bernie Sanders.
00:31:31.000 He says that the Tim Kaine pick was a slap in the face to Sanders supporters.
00:31:35.000 This is actually, this is good Trump, okay?
00:31:37.000 So here's, it's time for a little bit of good Trump.
00:31:38.000 So here's a little bit of good Trump.
00:31:39.000 So it's politically clever.
00:31:41.000 I don't particularly like that Sanders supporters are going to come to Trump because I think that Sanders supporters are on the left.
00:31:47.000 I think Trump is also on the left.
00:31:49.000 But here is Trump making what is a pretty smart play for Bernie Sanders supporters who, as you saw, are now booing the idea of voting for Hillary Clinton.
00:31:56.000 I'm not a fan of Bernie Sanders, but I am a fan of one thing that he talks about trade.
00:32:01.000 He's the only one on that side that understands trade.
00:32:03.000 Now, he can't do anything about it, because that's not his thing.
00:32:06.000 But he has been gamed.
00:32:10.000 It's a rigged system against him.
00:32:12.000 And what happened with the choice of Tim Kaine was a slap in the face to Bernie Sanders and everybody.
00:32:20.000 I was shocked.
00:32:21.000 Okay, so this is actually smart by Trump.
00:32:23.000 Okay, so even the stuff I don't like here, the stuff I was mentioning before, it's not bad, okay?
00:32:28.000 That isn't the bad stuff.
00:32:29.000 The bad stuff about Trump is that Trump is crazy.
00:32:30.000 Okay, the bad stuff about Trump, we didn't talk about this on Friday because we weren't here.
00:32:34.000 On Friday, the day after, I mean, it was maddening.
00:32:37.000 If you're a Trump fan, it should be maddening to you.
00:32:39.000 The day after Trump gives a very highly successful speech, he then spends the next morning, he's trying to thank his supporters, right?
00:32:45.000 He comes in to thank his supporters.
00:32:46.000 And instead of thanking his supporters, he decides that what would really be important is to go after Ted Cruz again.
00:32:53.000 Very important to go after Ted Cruz again.
00:32:55.000 So first, he starts by attacking Ted Cruz's father, right?
00:32:59.000 He says it is 19A.
00:33:00.000 He goes after Ted Cruz's dad.
00:33:02.000 All I did is point out the fact that on the cover of the National Enquirer, there was a picture of him.
00:33:11.000 Okay, and so he attacks again.
00:33:21.000 He goes back to this whole Ted Cruz's dad assassinated JFK thing.
00:33:24.000 But he didn't stop there.
00:33:25.000 He also decided it was important to rehash the Heidi Cruz thing.
00:33:27.000 You remember he called Heidi Cruz ugly, basically.
00:33:30.000 When I saw somebody tweeted a picture of Melania and a picture of Heidi, who I think, by the way, is a very nice woman and a very beautiful woman.
00:33:38.000 I have to tell you.
00:33:39.000 I think Heidi Cruz is a great person.
00:33:42.000 I think it's the best thing he's got going and his kids, if you want to know the truth.
00:33:48.000 So he's lying, right?
00:33:49.000 I mean, that's not what he did.
00:33:50.000 He tweeted a picture of her basically saying that she was ugly.
00:33:52.000 And then he didn't stop there.
00:33:53.000 He said he doesn't want Ted Cruz's endorsement under any circumstances.
00:33:57.000 I like Ted, he's fine.
00:33:58.000 Again, I don't want his endorsement.
00:34:00.000 If he gives it, I will not accept it, just so you understand.
00:34:03.000 If he gives it, I will not accept it.
00:34:05.000 It won't matter.
00:34:07.000 Honestly, he should have done it.
00:34:09.000 Because nobody cares.
00:34:12.000 And he would have been in better shape for four years from now if he's gonna- I don't think- I don't see him winning anyway, frankly.
00:34:18.000 Okay, so he goes after Ted Cruz again because that's what he does, right?
00:34:21.000 So this is the day after his big speech that was supposed to bring the Republican Party together.
00:34:26.000 And everybody was getting around him, right?
00:34:27.000 The day after he does this.
00:34:30.000 And that's not all.
00:34:31.000 Over the weekend, he says he's going to fund a super PAC.
00:34:34.000 A super PAC against Ted Cruz and John Kasich for not supporting him.
00:34:37.000 He's gonna try and primary a couple of Republicans for not supporting him.
00:34:40.000 So he's got all this money, and instead of spending it against Democrats, he's gonna spend it against the guy who tried to kill Obamacare and the sitting Republican governor of Ohio whose help he needs to win the state.
00:34:51.000 This is genius stuff.
00:34:52.000 Here's him talking about starting his new super PAC.
00:34:55.000 Are you really going to fund a super PAC to help defeat him in 2018?
00:34:58.000 Well, it's not the number one thing on my mind.
00:35:00.000 Look, what's on my mind is beating Hillary Clinton.
00:35:04.000 What's on my mind is winning for the Republican Party.
00:35:08.000 With that being said, yeah, I'll probably do a super PAC, you know, when they run, against Kasich for $10 to $20 million against Ted Cruz and maybe one other person that I'm thinking about.
00:35:22.000 The other person he's thinking about is Ben Sasse.
00:35:24.000 He's the senator from Nebraska who's had the temerity to say that Trump is a dumpster fire.
00:35:28.000 So, all of that, so Trump, instead of uniting the party, on the Democratic side you can see they're tearing themselves apart.
00:35:33.000 On the Republican side, even people like me, I mean we're getting heavy pressure to jump in the Trump camp.
00:35:38.000 Right?
00:35:39.000 One of the things, one of the reasons that I'm not jumping on the Trump train is because of stuff like this.
00:35:43.000 So you've got the entire Republican Party saying you got to jump on the Trump train, even as he moves to rip away any semblance of decency from the Republican Party.
00:35:51.000 So you got Scott Walker out there saying, yeah, we're uniting around Trump.
00:35:53.000 We're coming around.
00:35:54.000 Trump is the governor of Wisconsin saying just that.
00:35:57.000 There's an increasing sense of unity around Donald Trump.
00:36:01.000 As I point out, I joke, you know, Donald Trump wasn't my first pick.
00:36:05.000 I was my first pick.
00:36:06.000 So I have a little laugh with that.
00:36:08.000 But I said, what is your first, your second, your 17th?
00:36:12.000 It shouldn't matter.
00:36:14.000 Here in Cleveland back last August, I said that any Republican running would be better than Hillary Clinton.
00:36:20.000 I meant that then, I mean it now.
00:36:21.000 And I think for most of us as delegates, whether Donald Trump was your absolute first pick or he was further down the line, the delegates here realize that it's either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.
00:36:32.000 There's no other choice.
00:36:34.000 And Hillary Clinton would be an abysmal, abysmal failure.
00:36:37.000 Okay, so if you want to make the argument, and I've been seeing this argument all over, we've been talking about it for weeks, that Trump will be better than Hillary back Trump.
00:36:45.000 Fine.
00:36:46.000 That's your argument.
00:36:47.000 I may disagree in the long term.
00:36:48.000 One of the reasons I disagree in the long term is because I think that a victorious Trump would rip away any semblance of conservatism and decency from the Republican Party.
00:36:56.000 Really, I think that's what would happen.
00:36:58.000 That doesn't mean I want Hillary president.
00:36:59.000 I want them both to be put in a rowboat and pushed far offshore.
00:37:02.000 But if Trump is going to do damage, he's going to do some serious damage.
00:37:05.000 And the reason I say that is because after Trump does his little routine, after Trump does his little, I'm going to fund a super PAC to oppose Republicans, Ted Cruz's dad murdered JFK routine, after he did that little routine, the head of the RNC, Reince Priebus, who's just a little pansy, Reince Priebus comes out and he says, well, you know, there's nothing really wrong with that.
00:37:25.000 Division is profit in the world of cable news.
00:37:29.000 If you're dividing, you're making money.
00:37:31.000 Anytime you see a split screen, it's, you know, one person saying X, the other one saying Y, now you fight about it for the next six minutes.
00:37:39.000 There is no money in unity.
00:37:42.000 And so it is a profit center to divide people, to divide politics, to divide parties.
00:37:50.000 And that's what you see on television.
00:37:53.000 Okay, and he then comes out, Reince Priebus, and he says quite openly, and I'm trying to find the direct quote here, he says, quote, However, I don't think he was ever saying this was some sort of factual information.
00:38:06.000 This is about the Ted Cruz's dad killing JFK routine.
00:38:08.000 It was something he referred to.
00:38:10.000 He's talked about it.
00:38:10.000 He's gotten off from it.
00:38:11.000 As far as I'm concerned, we can move on from it.
00:38:14.000 I've seen people that I respect, people I work with, do the same thing about this.
00:38:18.000 Oh well, no big deal.
00:38:18.000 The same people who spent years, years, yelling about how it was a lie that Bush lied and people died, are now justifying Donald Trump saying the same thing.
00:38:27.000 Truth is no longer a right-wing value.
00:38:30.000 Truth is a conservative value, but it is not a right-wing value.
00:38:34.000 Because what's happening now is that the Republican Party is actually doing a better job of unifying around Donald Trump and then backing his lies than the Democratic Party is around Hillary Clinton and backing her corruption.
00:38:46.000 I mean, that's sad to say about your own party, but that's what I'm seeing.
00:38:50.000 Remember this.
00:38:50.000 When Ted Cruz said he wouldn't endorse Donald Trump, or at least didn't endorse him strongly enough at the convention, he was booed off the stage.
00:38:56.000 When Bernie Sanders said he would endorse Hillary Clinton, he was booed off the stage.
00:39:00.000 It shows you something.
00:39:02.000 And so I want to address this one point, because I think it's very important.
00:39:05.000 I get a lot of flack, a lot of flack, of people saying, well, why do you go after Trump?
00:39:08.000 First of all, as you've seen, I spent three quarters of this show going after Hillary Clinton.
00:39:12.000 But when people say, why do you go after Trump?
00:39:14.000 Why don't you just shut up about Trump?
00:39:15.000 After all, do you want her to win?
00:39:17.000 Here's my answer.
00:39:18.000 It is not my moral responsibility to lie for Donald Trump.
00:39:22.000 That's not my moral responsibility.
00:39:23.000 It isn't.
00:39:24.000 And I know this argument.
00:39:25.000 Ace of Spades.
00:39:26.000 He's a blogger.
00:39:26.000 I really enjoy his work, typically.
00:39:28.000 He wrote this piece about how, basically, if you're a never-Trumper, it's your responsibility, your moral responsibility, if Hillary Clinton wins.
00:39:35.000 And he says, quote, If you think Hillary would be a better president, fine.
00:39:38.000 I respect your opinion.
00:39:42.000 We all have different brains.
00:39:44.000 But what I must insist you cannot do is fantasize that while a Trump supporter is responsible for the gaffes and disasters of a President Trump, you are somehow innocent of the purges and witch hunts of a President Hillary.
00:39:54.000 Trump supporters will own the consequences of a Trump presidency, and Hillary supporters, both those who declare it proudly and those who wish it secretly, own the consequences of a Hillary presidency.
00:40:04.000 Adults accept the consequences of their choices.
00:40:07.000 So here's where this logic falls apart.
00:40:09.000 This logic is not correct.
00:40:10.000 The reason this logic is not correct is because what people tend to do is they tend to conflate legal causation with moral causation.
00:40:18.000 Let me give you an example.
00:40:19.000 Okay, let me give you an example.
00:40:20.000 You see a murder occur.
00:40:22.000 You see a murder occur.
00:40:23.000 And then you go and you tell the cops about it.
00:40:25.000 Is it your fault the murderer goes to jail or is it the murderer's fault the murderer goes to jail?
00:40:29.000 So according to these folks, you would bear moral responsibility for the murderer going to jail.
00:40:35.000 According to me, you don't bear any moral responsibility.
00:40:37.000 You told the truth about a bad thing that happened.
00:40:40.000 What's happening right now is that the Republicans are now trying to force people not just to back Donald Trump with their vote, because my vote doesn't mean anything.
00:40:48.000 That's not what they're concerned about.
00:40:49.000 The reason people are pissed at me is not because of how I'm voting.
00:40:51.000 I vote in California.
00:40:52.000 My vote doesn't mean anything.
00:40:53.000 I'm going to get outvoted by 30%.
00:40:55.000 It doesn't make a difference.
00:40:57.000 The reason people care about what I'm doing is because they say the things that I say are hurting Donald Trump.
00:41:01.000 So the implication is, if I say something true about Trump, and it has the effect of hurting Donald Trump, it's my fault if Trump loses.
00:41:09.000 This I refuse to accept.
00:41:10.000 And the reason I refuse to accept it is because it's not true.
00:41:13.000 It's Donald Trump's fault if Donald Trump says things that are stupid and I comment on them.
00:41:16.000 It's Donald Trump's fault if he says things that are morally unpalatable and I comment on them.
00:41:20.000 I'm not going to be Chris Christie to watch Donald Trump get elected.
00:41:23.000 I'm not going to be Shinebox.
00:41:25.000 That's not my deal.
00:41:26.000 It's not your deal either.
00:41:27.000 As I've said at this point at least a thousand times, if you want to vote for Donald Trump, vote for Donald Trump.
00:41:32.000 But don't lie about Donald Trump.
00:41:34.000 Because lies are bad.
00:41:35.000 The fact we have to go back to rudimentary moral reasoning now.
00:41:38.000 Lies are bad.
00:41:40.000 It's the reason why both parties are now filled with liars, because there are too many people who believe that lies aren't bad so long as it's somebody on your side telling it.
00:41:48.000 Lies are bad regardless.
00:41:50.000 When Hillary lies, that's bad.
00:41:51.000 When Trump lies, that's bad.
00:41:53.000 You should not lie just because you like somebody.
00:41:56.000 The reason, in fact, you should support somebody is because they lie less.
00:41:59.000 The reason you should support someone is because they're better as a human being, and they have better principles, and those principles matter.
00:42:06.000 And the fact that people are willing to turn themselves into mouthpieces for Trumpism just because they hate Hillary so much, that's what I find troubling.
00:42:13.000 And that's why I think conservatism is in trouble.
00:42:15.000 Because I'm seeing it happen a lot.
00:42:17.000 I'm seeing it happen across the board.
00:42:18.000 People I respect, people I don't respect, people coming out and pretending that when Donald Trump does bad things, it's totally okay because at least we're trying to defeat Hillary Clinton.
00:42:26.000 It's not okay.
00:42:28.000 He can still want him to defeat Hillary Clinton.
00:42:31.000 That's fine.
00:42:32.000 But please, for the love of God, do not do this routine where a Trump lie becomes not a lie because his last name isn't Clinton.
00:42:38.000 That's ridiculous.
00:42:40.000 Okay, all that said, I mean, that's the fight, I really believe that's the fight for the heart and soul of the Republican Party right there, is not even whether you vote for Trump or don't vote for Trump, back Trump or not back Trump, it's whether you are willing to lie for Trump or not willing to lie for Trump.
00:42:53.000 That's the great moral conflict to me.
00:42:55.000 Don't lie for candidates.
00:42:57.000 Your values, your soul, is worth a little bit more than that, folks.
00:43:01.000 You can vote for whomever you want, but don't lie to cover up other people's lies.
00:43:06.000 It's silliness.
00:43:07.000 You don't owe anybody that, least of all some candidate who doesn't give a damn about you.
00:43:11.000 Alright, time for some things I like and time for some things I don't like.
00:43:13.000 So this week, we're going to be doing, since apparently the Russians hacked the RNC, so we're going to be doing Russian movies.
00:43:20.000 Movies with Russian characters.
00:43:21.000 So, to start off, I've mentioned it before, but I don't think I've actually done this as a thing I like.
00:43:28.000 Eastern Promises.
00:43:30.000 Great movie.
00:43:30.000 Viggo Mortensen.
00:43:34.000 Really, a very strong film.
00:43:35.000 It's definitely rated R. It's a very R-rated film, but it's a very effective movie.
00:43:40.000 So here's what the preview looks like.
00:43:44.000 We think he might be Russian mafia.
00:43:47.000 And he is a member of Vodafone.
00:43:50.000 In Russian prisons, your life story is written on your body.
00:43:53.000 In tattoos.
00:43:54.000 If you don't have tattoos, you don't exist.
00:43:56.000 I'm afraid we've lost the mother.
00:44:01.000 Unidentified woman died December the 20th, 2313.
00:44:06.000 Baby girl born 20th December, 2314.
00:44:07.000 Anya, where did you get this?
00:44:15.000 I found it in the handbag of a girl who died in my ward.
00:44:18.000 You should bury her secrets with her body.
00:44:22.000 I'm a midwife.
00:44:23.000 I was hoping to speak to the manager.
00:44:25.000 Fiona, I'm so sorry if she had worked here.
00:44:28.000 I ought to remember it is said.
00:44:31.000 It's all right.
00:44:32.000 I'll probably find out more once I get her diary translated.
00:44:36.000 Her diary?
00:44:38.000 You want to go for a drink?
00:44:40.000 It's Christmas.
00:44:41.000 Everything's closed.
00:44:43.000 Sometimes, if things are closed, you just open them up.
00:44:47.000 David Cronenberg is not one of my favorite directors.
00:44:50.000 I thought A History of Violence was a terrible film, but this, Eastern Promise, is a very, very good film.
00:44:56.000 Alright, so, okay, time for some things that I hate.
00:45:09.000 The DNC always wins the celebrity game in terms of who comes to their convention.
00:45:16.000 So all of these dumb celebrities are going to the DNC and everybody is losing their mind over it.
00:45:21.000 Oh, look at all these famous idiots going to the DNC.
00:45:23.000 Who's coming?
00:45:24.000 It's like Demi Lovato.
00:45:28.000 Who else is coming?
00:45:28.000 It's like Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Lena Dunham.
00:45:32.000 Very important that Lena Dunham show up, because Lena Dunham has to go and talk about how she apparently molested her sister, as she talks about in her book.
00:45:40.000 Very important.
00:45:42.000 We've got Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is showing up, which is very exciting.
00:45:46.000 Poot Lovato is showing up, which is very exciting.
00:45:49.000 So it's a whole group of these celebrities.
00:45:51.000 And I understand the Republicans were trying to do the same thing.
00:45:54.000 Somebody asked me over the weekend, if you were to run a convention, what would it look like?
00:45:57.000 And I said, it wouldn't be a bunch of speeches, number one.
00:45:59.000 I'd actually run it like a TV show.
00:46:01.000 So, you know, some of these well-produced videos, I think, would be effective.
00:46:04.000 We're never going to out-celebrity the Democrats, because the Democrats' entire pitch is moral superiority through voting for us.
00:46:10.000 Right?
00:46:10.000 So all these celebrities love Hillary Clinton, and they love this whole routine.
00:46:14.000 But, yeah, it just—it goes to show you, the celebrity culture is what drives Democrats.
00:46:19.000 One of the reasons—by the way, it drives Republicans, too, apparently.
00:46:21.000 That's why Donald Trump is the nominee.
00:46:22.000 If the guy had 0% name recognition, the chances that he would be the nominee are approximately negative 30.
00:46:26.000 Okay, so.
00:46:29.000 Other things that I hate.
00:46:30.000 So there's this video going around of this drunk Texan guy losing his mind over Make America Great Again.
00:46:35.000 And here's what it looks like.
00:46:37.000 What is this s*** about?
00:46:39.000 Make America White Again.
00:46:46.000 I'm drunk.
00:46:46.000 I'm gonna get over here.
00:46:48.000 I'm just tired of seeing all this racist s***.
00:46:55.000 I don't want to live in a world without black women.
00:46:58.000 I love black women.
00:47:00.000 I ain't going to f**k supercuts to get a f**king inch up.
00:47:04.000 They gonna f**k my s**t up nine times out of ten.
00:47:07.000 I don't want to live in a world without NFL, NBA, stand-up comedy.
00:47:13.000 That s**t is funny as s**t to me.
00:47:15.000 Eddie Griffin, Red Fox.
00:47:17.000 To me, me personally, there is not a more attractive woman than a black woman.
00:47:25.000 Okay.
00:47:26.000 Since when the f*** has American ever been white?
00:47:30.000 What, when we came over here and killed the Indians?
00:47:33.000 And whenever we brought black folks over here to do the work?
00:47:41.000 That's what makes America great.
00:47:43.000 All the different people that work together, live together.
00:47:46.000 Shut that!
00:47:47.000 Okay, so first of all, I don't know what this Make America White Again thing is that he's talking about.
00:47:57.000 Maybe it's an alt-right thing.
00:47:58.000 Obviously, I agree.
00:47:59.000 I will say that I find it absolutely hysterical that you can say anything racist that you want, like the most racist crap imaginable, so long as you're saying it for diversity.
00:48:09.000 Right.
00:48:10.000 I mean, if you're a racist guy and he's like, I love black women, you're like, oh, well, that's weird.
00:48:14.000 Right.
00:48:14.000 If you're a racist guy and you were saying, you know what I love?
00:48:17.000 I love stand up comedy.
00:48:18.000 I love when black people throw popcorn at the screen.
00:48:20.000 Like what?
00:48:21.000 Really?
00:48:21.000 Like you can't you can't like what?
00:48:25.000 That's kind of weird.
00:48:27.000 It's kind of weird.
00:48:28.000 What I love is when the left tries to create this false dichotomy in the United States between the supposed right wing that wants to make America white again and all the other diverse, wonderful people who are diverse and wonderful.
00:48:40.000 Okay, the fact is this.
00:48:41.000 Let's look at American history briefly for just a second.
00:48:44.000 The reality is that white European males created the system under which we live.
00:48:48.000 That had nothing to do with their color.
00:48:50.000 It didn't.
00:48:50.000 It had to do with their ideas.
00:48:52.000 Ideas are what matter.
00:48:53.000 The fact that they're white is irrelevant to me.
00:48:54.000 I don't care.
00:48:55.000 It makes no difference to me whether they're white or black or green.
00:48:57.000 It doesn't make any difference to me whatsoever.
00:48:59.000 It's their ideas that were good.
00:49:02.000 The fact that anybody sees these things in terms of race is beyond me.
00:49:06.000 It does irritate me, however, that the whole point of this thing becoming popular is that the idea is that here's a drunk guy in a cowboy hat who isn't a racist.
00:49:13.000 The implication being that if it were, that normally a drunk guy in a cowboy hat would be a racist, right?
00:49:19.000 That's why it's making those rounds.
00:49:20.000 Because if it were just a drunk guy in, like, Beverly Hills, you'd be like, okay, well, of course he's saying those things.
00:49:25.000 But it's a drunk guy in a cowboy hat, therefore it's fine.
00:49:29.000 I hate discussions in terms of race, generally, because I don't think that stand-up comedians are better because they're black or white, or women are better because they're black or white.
00:49:38.000 If this guy has a thing for black women, alright, but that's not a really great excuse for diversity.
00:49:48.000 You know, I think we need to get beyond—half of what he's saying is true.
00:49:52.000 The problem is that it's conflated with some other things that aren't particularly true, namely the underlying message, which is that there's a group of people in America, a large swath of people, who want to make America white again.
00:50:01.000 I don't think that's true.
00:50:02.000 I think there are some people—I get hit by them all the time, so believe me, I know they're there.
00:50:05.000 But I think that's a vast, vast, vast minority of the population, and I think that the implication otherwise is a little bit disquieting.
00:50:13.000 Okay, so tomorrow I'm sure there's going to be lots more from this Democratic dumpster fire to talk about.
00:50:18.000 Tonight we get Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders and Michelle Obama.
00:50:22.000 It's going to be so much fun.
00:50:24.000 Maybe the Bernie Sanders supporters are going to hold their fart in.
00:50:26.000 They were supposed to do that tonight, so that's really exciting, where they all just start farting simultaneously.
00:50:31.000 Presumably they would do that in the middle of Michelle Obama's speech because they like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.
00:50:35.000 I think they're kind of lukewarm about Michelle, so she'd be the least offensive one to fart during or something.
00:50:40.000 I don't know.
00:50:41.000 But we'll find out.
00:50:41.000 We'll find out.
00:50:43.000 In any case, it is destined to be an event filled with hot air, so we'll give you all the latest updates.
00:50:46.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:50:47.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
