The Ben Shapiro Show

Ep. 156 - Democrats Lose Their Minds, Maybe The Election

Summary

The Democratic National Convention is off to a crap start, but at least it's not as bad as some people are making it out to be. Ben points out that Hillary Clinton has her priorities straight: Defeating ISIS isn't one of them, and the Democrats are busy cheering lustily for a 74-year-old lunatic preaching discredited evils responsible for the murder of 100 million people in the 20th century, to worry about another evil murderer in France, another evil murdering priests in Normandy, a fireworks attack in Nice, a gay nightclub goer in Orlando, and children in Jerusalem? Sure, it was just night one of the convention, but the disconnect on the issue says volumes about the priorities of the Democratic Party. Plus, Ben takes a look at why Bernie Sanders supporters are so ticked off at the DNC, and why they should be worried about what s happening in the world, not what s going on in their own heads. Ben also talks about why the DNC is a disaster area, and how to deal with it, and what to do if it s getting worse than it is already getting worse. And he also explains why you should just enjoy the circus while it s here, and not wait for it to get better, because it s not going to get any better after it s all over soon, at least we know it s going to be fun while it's here! 00:00:00.000 So, the Democrats obviously have their priorities straight.
00:00:03.000 While Democrats spent the night jabbering about abortion and $15 minimum wage and climate change, jihadists stormed into a church in Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray in Normandy, France, and proceeded to behead an 86-year-old priest while shouting, Jesus lives!
00:00:17.000 Just joking.
00:00:18.000 They were yelling, Allahu Akbar, but you probably knew that.
00:00:21.000 This is the fifth jihadist attack in Europe in 11 days.
00:00:24.000 So, how many times did Democrats mention ISIS last night and yesterday?
00:00:28.000 There were 61 speakers.
00:00:30.000 Zero times.
00:00:31.000 That's right, 61 speakers, zero mentions for ISIS, but the Democrats did find time to put an illegal immigrant on stage, also an irritating comic actress who uses her spare time to auction sanitary napkins, Sarah Silverman.
00:00:42.000 They also found time to take down offensive Mississippi state flags and wave Palestinian ones on the floor of the convention.
00:00:48.000 They found time for another actress who claimed that the border crossed her family, and a video from J.J.
00:00:53.000 Abrams about that queen of mystery and light, Hillary Clinton.
00:00:57.000 The Democrats know their priorities.
00:00:58.000 Defeating ISIS isn't one of them.
00:01:00.000 They're too busy cheering lustily for a 74-year-old loonbag preaching discredited evils responsible for the murder of 100 million people in the 20th century to worry about another evil murdering priests in Normandy, fireworks, watchers in Nice, gay nightclub goers in Orlando, and children in Jerusalem.
00:01:16.000 Sure, it was just night one of the convention, but the disconnect on the issue kind of says volumes.
00:01:21.000 Republicans worry about terrorism and crime.
00:01:23.000 Democrats worry about whether men who think they're ladies can go pee-pee next to the women.
00:01:28.000 Last week, the media complained that Donald Trump's RNC convention speech was too, quote-unquote, dark.
00:01:33.000 Perhaps it was dark because the Democrats have created a rather dark world for us to occupy, even as they blindly refuse to acknowledge it.
00:01:41.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:01:42.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.

00:03:37.000 The materials they use are all top-notch.
00:03:38.000 So framebridge.com again, promo code Ben.
00:03:40.000 Okay, so lots going on in the world.
00:03:43.000 None of it good for Hillary Clinton.
00:03:45.000 The big disconnect last night was that Hillary Clinton's convention is off to a crap start.
00:03:50.000 I mean, it is just garbaggio.
00:03:52.000 It's a mess, it's a disaster area, and it's a disaster area in the best possible way, meaning the way that makes me laugh.
00:03:59.000 And we need a little bit of laughs during this election.
00:04:02.000 Somebody said the other day they can't wait for the election to be over, except that then Obama
00:04:08.000 At least you won't be president anymore, but then one of these other two people will be.
00:04:11.000 So, we just have to enjoy the circus while it lasts.
00:04:15.000 At least that's fun.
00:04:15.000 So yesterday, at the convention, Hillary's name, the Bernie Sanders supporters are super ticked off.
00:04:20.000 And they have a reason to be super ticked.
00:04:22.000 The Democratic National Convention
00:04:24.000 Basically, the committee rigged the primaries for Hillary Clinton.
00:04:28.000 They were on Hillary's side the whole time.
00:04:29.000 They were pushing out narratives against Bernie Sanders from the DNC, which they're not supposed to be doing.
00:04:34.000 And so the Bernie Sanders supporters were, understandably, pretty ticked.
00:04:38.000 Here is Hillary's name being mentioned at the convention, and here's what it looked like yesterday.
00:04:43.000 And we have got to elect Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine.
00:04:51.000 Gets booed.
00:05:01.000 This is awkward.
00:05:03.000 Where is my pudding?
00:05:08.000 Brothers and sisters!
00:05:13.000 Brothers and sisters!
00:05:20.000 This is... This is the real world that we live in.
00:05:28.000 I think so.
00:05:45.000 Unicorns do fart gold, but you also must vote for Lady Godiva atop that unicorn, Hillary Clinton.
00:05:50.000 Okay, so he gets booed.
00:05:52.000 Bernie Sanders gets booed by the Bernie's people.
00:05:54.000 Then, Steny Hoyer, who's the House Minority Whip, he gets booed.
00:05:58.000 He says, we're here to nominate Hillary and things go wildly wrong.
00:06:00.000 He's on the floor of the convention.
00:06:02.000 We're here to nominate Hillary Clinton because of her.
00:06:07.000 He gets booed.
00:06:15.000 That's awesome.
00:06:21.000 Because, because of her ability, her experience, and her vision.
00:06:29.000 I'm gonna yell at you now.
00:06:30.000 For our country.
00:06:32.000 We're gonna nominate Hillary Clinton because if I don't come out here and nominate her I'll be found in Fort Marcy Park with a hole in my face.
00:06:38.000 Okay so, little Vince Foster humor there for you.
00:06:43.000 He wasn't
00:06:43.000 Okay, so then they gave the DNC invocation, and this is pretty funny.
00:06:49.000 First of all, anytime God gets invoked at the DNC, everybody starts booing because this is a pagan club, so they're not gonna cheer for God, obviously.
00:06:57.000 I was at the DNC in 2012 when they literally cheered God.
00:07:00.000 Like, literally.
00:07:01.000 They wanted to put God back into the platform, and the Democrats actually booed it.
00:07:06.000 So now, the invocation gets booed through as soon as the Speaker mentions Hillary's name.
00:07:12.000 We have an opportunity, oh God, to give undeniable evidence of our commitment to justice and equality by nominating Hillary Rodham Clinton as our candidate.
00:07:26.000 And she gets booed.
00:07:35.000 Hallelujah.
00:07:38.000 And we're desperately trying to find the people who aren't cheering and not booing in the crowd.
00:07:43.000 And she's sitting there going, oh, this was a bad idea.
00:07:49.000 As our candidate for the highest office in the land, God, you have given us wisdom.
00:07:59.000 Now give us courage.
00:08:01.000 OK, God, definitely.
00:08:02.000 For the facing of this hour.
00:08:10.000 And they're chanting Bernie right now.
00:08:11.000 Look at these guys.
00:08:12.000 The Bernie bros over there chanting Bernie.
00:08:14.000 And then you've got the women chanting Hillary.
00:08:16.000 Now you have Bernie versus Hillary fight.
00:08:19.000 Which is the greatest slap fight since Napoleon Dynamite.
00:08:22.000 Unite us, oh God, in one party.
00:08:28.000 It is in your mighty name that we pray.
00:08:30.000 Okay, you guys threw God out of your party a long time ago.
00:08:33.000 He has no interest in walking through that door.
00:08:35.000 Okay, so that's not even how great it was.
00:08:38.000 So the Bernie bros, so you remember after the Republican convention, the entire media were saying that it was just awful, just awful, that Republicans were chanting, lock her up about Hillary Clinton.
00:08:46.000 Just terrible.
00:08:47.000 I did not hear chants of lock her up, although there have been reports of that.
00:08:50.000 Did you chant lock her up at that event today?
00:08:52.000 Well, earlier in the breakfast meeting, we did.
00:08:53.000 We did chant that a little bit.
00:08:55.000 I mean, at this point, that's what she is, and that's what the right's going to do, right?
00:08:57.000 So we need to get that exposed now.
00:09:17.000 I don't know.
00:09:17.000 We'll see what happens.
00:09:18.000 It's definitely going to hurt the ears if we do stay and watch it.
00:09:20.000 But there's some people that may be thinking about leaving.
00:09:38.000 You can't call him shrill because he's a leftist.
00:09:39.000 That's the way this works.
00:09:40.000 If you're a leftist, you can call Hillary a shrill witch who rides around on a broom.
00:09:44.000 If you're a right-winger and you say that, then that means you're a sexist.
00:09:46.000 So, I love this.
00:09:47.000 The Bernie Sanders supporters are openly saying, hell no, we're not gonna vote for Hillary Clinton.
00:09:51.000 Here's a few more of them saying this.
00:09:54.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:09:55.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:09:56.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:09:57.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:09:58.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:09:59.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:10:01.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:10:02.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:10:04.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:10:04.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:10:06.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:10:07.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:10:08.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:10:08.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:10:09.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:10:10.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:10:12.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:10:13.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:10:15.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:10:16.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:10:18.000 Hell no, DNC!
00:10:18.000 We won't vote for Hillary!
00:10:19.000 And they're chanting, hell no DNC, we won't vote for Hillary, which is pretty spectacular.
00:10:23.000 And by the way, the polls show that a lot of them won't vote for Hillary Clinton.
00:10:27.000 At least 10% of the Democrats are talking about not voting for Hillary Clinton, and it might be more than that.
00:10:31.000 Remember, 40% of Democrats voted for Bernie Sanders in the primaries, and about 30% of those, 30% of those, right, so about 12% total of the Democratic Party, 12% is saying, yeah, we may not show up,
00:10:43.000 And they haven't shown up in the past, because Bernie was bringing some new people to the polls.
00:10:47.000 So, the Bernie Sanders supporters are actually a threat to Hillary Clinton.
00:10:51.000 So, if you're not noticing the theme here, the theme is that the Democratic Party, for all the talk about how the Republican Party is divided, and it is, the Republican Party is significantly more united around Trump than the Democratic Party is around Hillary Clinton.
00:11:02.000 That's just a description.
00:11:04.000 I'm one of the people who's not united behind Trump.
00:11:06.000 But I'm just telling you, the amount of pressure that's brought to bear on people like me by not only elites within the party, but elites in this business to back Trump is extraordinary.
00:11:16.000 When it comes to Bernie Sanders, they're not getting the same kind of pressure.
00:11:19.000 They're not getting the same kind of pressure.
00:11:20.000 And so what you're getting instead is this vast gap in the Democratic Party.
00:11:24.000 And these Bernie people don't care.
00:11:25.000 I mean, they can always just go home and smoke pot.
00:11:27.000 And if Hillary Clinton ends up being the President of the United States, they don't lose that much because Hillary's going to be a leftist.
00:11:33.000 And if Trump ends up being President of the United States, they don't lose that much because Trump ain't that far right.
00:11:37.000 So it's pretty amusing.
00:11:39.000 I mean, Trump is actually further to the left on trade than Hillary is.
00:11:42.000 He mirrors Bernie Sanders' position.
00:11:44.000 So it got even better.
00:11:46.000 I mean, it's better and better.
00:11:47.000 It's wonderful.
00:11:48.000 Here are the delegates cheering the announcement of Debbie Wasserman Schultz's resignation.
00:11:52.000 She, of course, resigned yesterday.
00:11:53.000 She's the Democratic DNC chairwoman who resigned, and then she had to negotiate a flight back to Florida because they said, well, you don't work for us anymore, so we're not going to pay for your flight.
00:12:02.000 And she said, pretty please?
00:12:03.000 And they said, well, fine, but you have to have a middle seat.
00:12:06.000 So here is Bernie Sanders announcing this in his own crowd, cheering the ouster of the DNC chairwoman.
00:12:12.000 As I think all of you know, Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned yesterday as chair of the DNC.
00:12:34.000 Her resignation opens up the possibility of new leadership at the top of the Democratic Party that will stand with working people.
00:12:50.000 And that will open the doors of the party to those people who want real change.
00:12:58.000 Okay, so everybody is tearing each other apart.
00:13:01.000 And you can see this morning, apparently, there was a shouting match between Bernie and Hillary supporters.
00:13:06.000 This was yesterday, actually, at the start of the DNC.
00:13:08.000 A shouting match between the two sides.
00:13:10.000 They're yelling at each other in the convention hall.
00:13:12.000 Bernie!
00:13:12.000 Bernie!
00:13:12.000 Bernie!
00:13:13.000 Bernie!
00:13:14.000 Bernie!
00:13:15.000 Bernie!
00:13:15.000 Bernie!
00:13:21.000 It's Hillary's convention, Gabe.
00:13:23.000 It's Hillary's convention.
00:13:24.000 Well, the good news is that Hillary has a solution to all of this.
00:13:26.000 We can stop it there.
00:13:27.000 The good news is Hillary has a solution to all of this.
00:13:29.000 She's just going to have her operatives go around and take away people's signs.
00:13:33.000 This was actually happening in the arena yesterday.
00:13:35.000 You'll see people holding up Bernie signs and DNC operatives going around and ripping down the signs out of the Bernie people's hands.
00:13:42.000 Good evening, fellow Democrats and fellow Americans.
00:13:51.000 I'm so proud to be addressing you here in America.
00:14:13.000 There's a, there's a, the Bernie Sanders supporters are just, they've lost their minds.
00:14:17.000 I mean, they didn't have much of minds to begin with, considering they were supporting a socialist loon bag who's 87,000 years old.
00:14:23.000 Look at them weeping.
00:14:26.000 Yeah, it's very sad.
00:14:29.000 I love the guy in the Peter Pan hat.
00:14:30.000 He's my personal favorite.
00:14:35.000 I love the music.
00:14:38.000 Oh, tragedy strikes.
00:14:42.000 There's a lot of people who are working behind your local counter at the Starbucks who are very, very upset about Bernie going down in flames.
00:14:51.000 Okay, so they're really, really upset about this.
00:14:53.000 And they have a right to be upset.
00:14:54.000 I mean, he was gypped.
00:14:56.000 He was cheated out of this.
00:14:58.000 And everybody knows that he was cheated out of this.
00:15:00.000 And so this whole thing is really delicious.
00:15:01.000 The Democrats are trying to bring this whole thing together.
00:15:03.000 Sarah Silverman, who as I mentioned before, one of the least funny people in the United States, all she does is do things in a cutesy voice and then talk about poop and pee and sex and vaginas.
00:15:13.000 So, Sarah Silverman, she goes out there and she does a routine on stage.
00:15:17.000 God, I can't even look at her, she's so charmless.
00:15:19.000 And she says, she's a Bernie Sanders supporter, and she says the Bernie people are being crazy.
00:15:26.000 So I tell you this, I will vote for Hillary with gusto.
00:15:29.000 As I...
00:15:35.000 As I continue to be inspired and moved to action by the ideals set forth by Bernie, who will never stop fighting for us.
00:15:45.000 I am proud to be a part of Bernie's movement, and a vital part of that movement is making absolutely sure that Hillary Clinton is our next President of the United States.
00:15:55.000 Booya Bababooey.
00:15:55.000 Booya Bababooey.
00:15:57.000 Yep.
00:15:57.000 She's a charmer.
00:16:05.000 Gee, that was... That was pretty good, Sarah.
00:16:06.000 Hillary!
00:16:06.000 Unary!
00:16:07.000 Unary!
00:16:07.000 Unary!
00:16:07.000 Hillary!
00:16:07.000 Wow, a disaster area.
00:16:08.000 The Bernie... Can I just say... To the Bernie or Bust people...
00:16:36.000 You're being ridiculous.
00:16:43.000 She's so upset.
00:16:43.000 And this is, okay, so I want to point something out here.
00:16:48.000 Okay, so she's obviously very upset.
00:16:50.000 Now, the reason she's upset is not because the Bernie or Bus people are being ridiculous.
00:16:55.000 She's upset because she's been shamed.
00:16:57.000 She was a leading Bernie supporter, and there she is on stage, and Bernie Sanders is on stage, too.
00:17:01.000 And they're both up there doing this routine where now everybody's behind Hillary Clinton.
00:17:06.000 And the Bernie people are making her feel bad about herself.
00:17:08.000 You can see it in that clip.
00:17:09.000 She feels bad about herself that she's backing Hillary Clinton now.
00:17:11.000 She feels like a sellout, and she feels like a traitor, and she should.
00:17:15.000 And she feels that way, and she feels that she's betraying her principles by doing it, so she has to try and shame everybody on the Bernie side into getting behind Hillary.
00:17:23.000 So all this is rolling out, and it's delicious.
00:17:26.000 I want to talk about the media response to this, because this just tells you the whole story of where the media are, because it's truly amazing.
00:17:31.000 And there will be Chris Matthews impersonations galore.
00:17:34.000 But you'll have to go to dailywire.com for it, because our Facebook Live has come, unfortunately, to a crashing halt.

00:18:09.000 Cowabunga, y'all.
00:18:10.000 Okay, so... Every time we play that cue.
00:18:14.000 So, the media... So, all this goes down, right?
00:18:17.000 And it's chaos.
00:18:18.000 It's chaos.
00:18:18.000 And the Democrats feel terrible about themselves.
00:18:21.000 And Sarah Silverman doesn't know what to do with herself.
00:18:23.000 Is she supposed to auction used sanitary napkins for abortion?
00:18:27.000 What is she supposed to... She did that, by the way, in Texas.
00:18:29.000 Is she supposed to... What does she do with herself?
00:18:31.000 She can't make cutesy poop jokes up there when people are yelling at her.
00:18:34.000 It's also upsetting!
00:18:36.000 Okay, and then, here's how the media covered this thing.
00:18:39.000 So I wish we had the cue from Peer Gynt by Grieg, with the nice music that you always see with the animated picture of the deer eating in a meadow, because that's what's going on in the media's head, right?
00:18:58.000 Because that's what's going on in their heads right now.
00:19:00.000 Okay, so NBC News, here is Andrea Mitchell,
00:19:03.000 Watching all this chaos, right?
00:19:04.000 Watching this break out into the open.
00:19:07.000 Here's Andrea Mitchell saying that everything is just magnificent.
00:19:11.000 It's just great.
00:19:13.000 Passion and purpose at the Democratic National Convention.
00:19:18.000 The night's main speaker, Bernie Sanders, getting an emotional, prolonged ovation.
00:19:22.000 Thank you!
00:19:24.000 Moving some of his followers to tears.
00:19:27.000 And while Sanders closed the night throwing his support to his former adversary, it was Michelle Obama who stole the show, taking veiled shots at Donald Trump without mentioning his name.
00:19:37.000 But for all of the discord in the city of brotherly love, there was also plenty of celebration.
00:19:42.000 From Paul Simon, to Philly favorites, Boyz II Men, and Eva Longoria.
00:19:53.000 But it was first lady Michelle Obama who brought down the house.
00:19:56.000 Okay, so if you didn't watch any of the convention... Reminding a divided... We can stop it there.
00:20:01.000 So if you didn't watch...
00:20:02.000 We're good to go.
00:20:23.000 That's beautiful.
00:20:24.000 It's unbelievable.
00:20:26.000 Have you ever seen anything like this?
00:20:27.000 I've never seen anything like this.
00:20:28.000 I've seen many things in my entire life.
00:20:29.000 I've never seen anything quite like this.
00:20:30.000 And I've seen so many things.
00:20:31.000 I mean, I have seen a monkey climb a tree.
00:20:34.000 I have seen it at the zoo.
00:20:36.000 And let me tell you about the zoo.
00:20:37.000 I love the zoo, although one time I almost fell into the pit and Harambee almost dragged me around, but it was great.
00:20:41.000 But in any case, I've seen so many things, so many wonderful things.
00:20:45.000 Let's talk about what happened over at the Democratic National Convention.
00:20:48.000 Go!
00:20:49.000 I think the most important speech tonight was Bernie Sanders.
00:20:51.000 I know there'll be more, there'll be the roll call, there'll be more rhetoric.
00:20:55.000 But I have to tell you, I think the Democrats' first night may turn out to be more successful than the Republicans' last night.
00:21:04.000 I thought it had a lot of charm and happiness.
00:21:07.000 It had Al Franken's humor, perhaps a bit
00:21:10.000 A bit too sophisticated for some people, but it was brilliant.
00:21:14.000 And I just thought the whole night was a slugger's row of wonderful sentiments from the high esteem that the first ladies received, to the passionate of the progressives, to the, I have to say, good sportsmanship and better of Bernie Sanders.
00:21:33.000 He really laid it in there
00:21:35.000 For Hillary Clinton tonight, and if his followers don't follow him, that's their call.
00:21:39.000 But you can't ask more than what he said tonight.
00:21:42.000 So overall, for putting things together for what we call in politics fence-mending, a tense strike.
00:21:52.000 Everybody's wearing Peter Pan hats at this convention.
00:21:54.000 Oh, Robin Hood.
00:21:55.000 Oh, thank you.
00:21:55.000 Okay, I thought it was Peter Pan.
00:21:57.000 That makes more sense.
00:21:58.000 But they do live in Neverland, but I love that.
00:22:00.000 It's also thrilling.
00:22:02.000 I mean, it's just so beautiful from beginning to end.
00:22:04.000 I feel a thrill going up my leg, up the back of my thigh, up my buttocks, all the way up to the top of my shoulders, around the top of my head, back down again, through my nose, up my larynx, through my intestines, and out my butt.
00:22:15.000 That's how thrilled I am.
00:22:16.000 It was just unbelievable.
00:22:17.000 Unbelievable in every way.
00:22:18.000 Thank you.
00:22:19.000 My Skolicekov.
00:22:19.000 Okay, so, and then MSNBC goes further.
00:22:21.000 They say that what Sarah Silverman did, you just watched it, right?
00:22:24.000 She looks awkward and she doesn't understand why she's there.
00:22:27.000 And MSNBC says it was important and significant what Sarah Silverman did.
00:22:30.000 Unity!
00:22:33.000 Unity!
00:22:33.000 Unity!
00:22:33.000 Hillary!
00:22:33.000 Hillary!
00:22:34.000 Hillary!
00:22:41.000 To the Bernie or Bust people, you're being ridiculous.
00:22:49.000 Sarah Silberman of the great state of New Hampshire.
00:22:53.000 To dismiss her as a comedian speaking to this convention would, I think, dismiss the potential of a real moment there.
00:23:03.000 That was an important speech and a really important ad-lib in terms of the way it was greeted and what it meant.
00:23:10.000 Our friends were watching with us.
00:23:13.000 What'd you think, Gene?
00:23:14.000 Well, you know, we're waiting for the political heavy hitters.
00:23:19.000 Gene was moved by the moment, obviously.
00:23:22.000 No, this heavy hitting lineup that's coming later in the evening, that could have been the most significant speech of the evening.
00:23:28.000 It was so significant.
00:23:29.000 It was so significant.
00:23:29.000 We'll get to assess that later.
00:23:30.000 Speaking as a Bernie supporter.
00:23:32.000 As a Bernie person.
00:23:32.000 Stop it.
00:23:33.000 And then a comedian who works blue.
00:23:35.000 Said that the Bernie supporter should cut it out.
00:23:36.000 That was a significant moment.
00:23:37.000 I love Brian Williams sitting there intoning like a serious journalist.
00:23:41.000 He had just flown in straight from Iraq after having strafed a column of enemy troops.
00:23:45.000 And he sat down and he explained how significant that moment was.
00:23:48.000 And then CNN and MSNBC, they loved Cory Booker's speech.
00:23:51.000 Cory Booker's speech was just magnificent according to CNN.
00:23:53.000 CNN loved it.
00:23:54.000 It was so great.
00:23:55.000 Jake, that was a powerful, powerful speech and introduction to the American people for him.
00:24:00.000 He was on Hillary Clinton's shortlist to be VP, and I think even though he's not the keynote speaker of this convention, Elizabeth Warren is, that might as well have been the keynote address.
00:24:09.000 That was a crowd-pleaser like no speech I have seen at a convention since a young state senator named Barack Obama in 2004.
00:24:16.000 That was a hell of a speech.
00:24:18.000 It was a long speech, delivered with a ton of energy, and that last page of it, that last five or six paragraphs, that was... What you call a wind-up.
00:24:26.000 Yeah, well, you know what?
00:24:26.000 It was more like, instead of like a home-run hitter getting his at-bat, that was like batting practice.
00:24:31.000 Over the fence, over the fence, over the fence.
00:24:33.000 It's reminiscent of the Barack Obama speech in 2004.
00:24:35.000 I mean, this is the first one out of the gate that is a really, really powerful speech.
00:24:41.000 Wow, you mean the people at MSNBC love the Democrats?
00:24:43.000 I think it's a brilliant speech.
00:24:44.000 Okay, I can't watch it anymore.
00:24:45.000 I can't do it.
00:24:45.000 I can't.
00:24:46.000 I can't do it.
00:24:46.000 I can't.
00:24:47.000 I can't do it!
00:24:48.000 Okay, so the lesbian porn mention for people who are listening and not watching is because Bill Clinton suddenly appears on screen clapping.
00:24:54.000 Okay, so the media, obviously, they turned this entire night, and we don't have to belabor the point, the media turned this entire night into, it's just a massive win.
00:25:09.000 So, if you've noticed, the first 10 minutes of the show we played all the audio from what actually happened at the convention, and then you get the media, and the media, oh my god, what a beautiful event!
00:25:19.000 It was like a wedding!
00:25:20.000 It was like a wedding.
00:25:21.000 So you watch the first part and it's Kosovo, and then the media come back and it's just, I mean, my goodness, it was like they were making beautiful love to one another on the convention floor.
00:25:32.000 It's incredible.
00:25:33.000 So that's point number one I want to make.
00:25:35.000 The media have an agenda here, okay?
00:25:37.000 The Republicans demonstrated that they were not unified at the RNC, and then Trump made a speech that was very popular.
00:25:42.000 That's the story of the RNC.
00:25:44.000 The story of the DNC is the DNC chairwoman is fired from her job on day one and thrown out of the place without a plane ticket.
00:25:50.000 And the Bernie Sanders people are shouting, lock her up, about their own nominee.
00:25:54.000 And the speakers are yelling at the Bernie Sanders people.
00:25:57.000 So what's the coverage?
00:25:58.000 The coverage tonight at the Republican convention was, floor battles, Melania Trump plagiarizes from Michelle Obama.
00:26:04.000 The media coverage last night was, yeah, there was some enthusiasm, but nothing really important happened.
00:26:12.000 They were booing their nominee.
00:26:14.000 Yeah, something a little important happened last night that has ramifications beyond just the convention.
00:26:20.000 That's point number one.
00:26:21.000 Point number two, you keep hearing from the media that the Republicans are just this extreme, terribly extreme party.
00:26:27.000 My big problem with the Republican Party now is that the Republican Party is not conservative.
00:26:31.000 I mean, Donald Trump is not conservative.
00:26:33.000 They trotted out, I think there were zero mentions of abortion except for maybe Ted Cruz mentioning it once during his speech at the Republican National Convention.
00:26:41.000 There was no talk about same-sex marriage.
00:26:43.000 There was no talk about limited government or constitutional liberty.
00:26:47.000 It was a big government convention for the Republicans.
00:26:50.000 They trotted out Peter Thiel to say that the culture wars didn't matter at all.
00:26:55.000 The extreme party in America right now is not the Republican Party.
00:26:58.000 I mean, they're fighting just to remain conservative and relevant.
00:27:01.000 The Democratic Party is wildly extreme.
00:27:03.000 We'll show you how extreme they are.
00:27:05.000 Here is what happened.
00:27:06.000 The Democrats were doing the Pledge of Allegiance.
00:27:09.000 Dinesh D'Souza was standing outside where they were doing the Pledge of Allegiance, and here is a picture.
00:27:13.000 Do we have a picture of Dinesh?
00:27:14.000 So Dinesh, whose new movie is Hillary's America, by the way, which you should go see, they printed the text of the Pledge of Allegiance, and they scrolled it above him, right?
00:27:25.000 I mean, this is during the convention.
00:27:26.000 I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, when they got to, under God,
00:27:34.000 Not there.
00:27:35.000 So a bunch of people just skipped under God in the Pledge of Allegiance, because this is how it works at the Democratic National Convention.
00:27:41.000 Then there's Eva Longoria, right?
00:27:43.000 Eva Longoria, who you saw mentioned, she speaks at like every DNC now, even though she hasn't been relevant since she was hot in Desperate Housewives, and now she's starting to look a little bit more dumpy.
00:27:50.000 And Eva Longoria, she shows up, and she speaks, but she says she's a ninth generation American, but she's not really an American, she's really a Mexican, and here's what she says.
00:27:59.000 Texas used to be part of Mexico.
00:28:04.000 Now, I'm ninth generation American.
00:28:07.000 My family never crossed a border.
00:28:09.000 The border crossed us.
00:28:13.000 I never crossed the border.
00:28:15.000 The border crossed us.
00:28:17.000 So it's still Mexico?
00:28:18.000 Is that the idea?
00:28:18.000 So when Donald Trump calls us criminals and rapists, he's insulting American families.
00:28:26.000 My father is not a criminal or rapist.
00:28:30.000 In fact, he's a United States veteran.
00:28:32.000 Okay, we can stop it there.
00:28:33.000 So Eva Longoria doing this routine.
00:28:35.000 First of all, Donald Trump was talking about illegal immigrants.
00:28:38.000 He's talking about illegal immigrants, and he wasn't talking about all illegal immigrants, but this is how extreme they are.
00:28:43.000 You've got them using actual La Raza slogans.
00:28:45.000 That's a La Raza slogan, that we never crossed the border, the border crossed us.
00:28:49.000 And usually the next consequent thought in that chain of logic is that it's still Mexican territory, right?
00:28:54.000 We didn't move, the border moved, and therefore this really is Mexican territory.
00:28:59.000 Okay, how extreme are they?
00:29:00.000 So you have an illegal immigrant speaking at the Democratic National Convention.
00:29:04.000 This woman is not in the United States legally.
00:29:06.000 Her name is Astrid Silva.
00:29:08.000 She's 28 years old.
00:29:09.000 Her brother was born here, but she wasn't.
00:29:10.000 She came when she was four.
00:29:11.000 And here she is talking about how she deserves to be here, even though she's here illegally.
00:29:16.000 When I was four years old, my mother and I climbed into a raft, and we crossed the river to join my father in America in search of a better life.
00:29:27.000 All I had was a little doll.
00:29:29.000 I grew up like an ordinary girl.
00:29:32.000 My dad worked as a landscaper, and my mom stayed at home with my brother and I. But while my friends did ordinary things, I couldn't, because my parents were afraid that someone might discover I was undocumented.
00:29:46.000 My family believed so— Number one, she's standing on the stage at a Democratic National Convention.
00:29:53.000 The president's wife is in the audience.
00:29:55.000 Okay, is she really living in fear of being deported?
00:29:59.000 I'm going to go no there.
00:30:00.000 And there is something mildly troubling about having somebody who's actually here in the country illegally speaking on the stage at a major convention.
00:30:06.000 She's not a United States citizen.
00:30:08.000 Does that mean she should never become one?
00:30:09.000 No, that's not my case.
00:30:11.000 The case I'm making is that the Democrats are so extreme, they will put an actual illegal immigrant on the stage.
00:30:16.000 How extreme are the Democrats?
00:30:17.000 They've got Bill Clinton.
00:30:18.000 There's a picture of Bill Clinton with Cecile Richards.
00:30:21.000 So Bill Clinton is sitting next to Cecile Richards, and he's whispering something to her, presumably some sweet nothings.
00:30:27.000 But Cecile Richards is the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood.
00:30:32.000 That organization is responsible for the killing of 300,000 babies a year in the United States, and she's in the president's box.
00:30:38.000 That's how extreme the Democrats are.
00:30:40.000 So before you talk about how extreme the Republicans are, start with the fact that the Democrats have an illegal immigrant on stage, have a speaker who gets up there and says that the border crossed us.
00:30:49.000 And by the way, tonight, you know who's speaking?
00:30:51.000 Tonight, who's speaking?
00:30:52.000 Tonight, they have the mothers of the movement.
00:30:54.000 Who are the mothers of the movement?
00:30:55.000 I've mentioned this before.
00:30:56.000 This is the mothers of Michael Brown.
00:30:57.000 This is the mothers of Trayvon Martin.
00:30:58.000 This is the mothers of Sandra Bland.
00:31:00.000 This is the mothers of Eric Garner.
00:31:01.000 Okay?
00:31:02.000 Michael Brown tried to take a gun and murder a cop, and he was shot.
00:31:06.000 His mother is speaking at the Democratic National Convention.
00:31:10.000 And we're having cops murdered all around the country right now, and the Democrats' first response to that is, let's have, to the convention, members of the Black Lives Matter movement who are responsible for at least incentivization of rioting, and we're going to have these mothers come in whose sons were involved in criminal activity like Michael Brown, and we're going to make them heroes.
00:31:32.000 I mean, that's pretty extreme stuff.
00:31:34.000 And again, yesterday, there were 61 speakers.
00:31:36.000 Democrats didn't mention ISIS one time.
00:31:38.000 You can tell what their priorities are.
00:31:40.000 Okay, so now to the actual speeches a little bit.
00:31:42.000 So, Michelle Obama got the biggest plaudits of the night.
00:31:47.000 To understand what Michelle Obama did last night, first, a quick flashback.
00:31:50.000 This is Michelle Obama in 2008.
00:31:51.000 Okay, this is her speaking in 2008 when her hubby was running for president for the first time, and here's what she had to say about America back then.
00:31:58.000 Hope is making a comeback.
00:32:01.000 It is making a comeback, and let me tell you something, for the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country.
00:32:10.000 And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.
00:32:17.000 This is the first time in 2008 she's ever been proud as an adult of her country.
00:32:22.000 Okay, clip 25.
00:32:23.000 Here's Michelle Obama last night.
00:32:27.000 And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all our sons and daughters now take for granted that a woman can be President of the United States.
00:32:58.000 Don't let anyone ever tell you that this country isn't great.
00:33:03.000 That somehow we need to make it great again.
00:33:07.000 Because this right now is the greatest country on earth.
00:33:13.000 Oh, funny how she's brought that slogan back.
00:33:16.000 Okay.
00:33:16.000 So, let's do a thought experiment.
00:33:18.000 What changed in the last eight years?
00:33:19.000 Eight years ago, she said that this was the first time she'd ever been proud of her country.
00:33:23.000 Now, it's the greatest country on earth.
00:33:24.000 Don't let anybody, anybody, even me, eight years ago, tell you that America isn't a wonderful place.
00:33:29.000 What's changed?
00:33:30.000 The answer is nothing's changed, except her husband was president, and she got to live in this Versailles Palace in Washington, D.C.
00:33:36.000 That's all that's changed.
00:33:38.000 So, one of two things is true.
00:33:39.000 Either she's the most self-centered person on earth, and what happens to her is how the country is, right?
00:33:44.000 She gets to be first lady, so the country's great now.
00:33:46.000 Or, alternatively, she's just out there defending her husband's record, and so they have to pretend the country is wonderful because Hubby runs it.
00:33:53.000 Even though Hubby's done a terrible, terrible job, and President Obama's a garbage president.
00:33:56.000 Like, a really garbage president.
00:33:58.000 So the media were all over this.
00:33:59.000 They said, oh, what a wonderful, uplifting, optimistic speech.
00:34:02.000 It's not gonna help the Democrats, that speech.
00:34:04.000 The reason it's not going to help the Democrats is because Americans are not in an optimistic mood.
00:34:09.000 We're looking around the world, and again, this morning, an 86-year-old priest was beheaded, beheaded, in the middle of France, in Normandy.
00:34:16.000 He was beheaded by a couple of ISIS guys.
00:34:20.000 And that's the fifth terrorist attack in Europe in the last 11 days.
00:34:24.000 And we're supposed to feel optimistic?
00:34:25.000 We're supposed to feel good?
00:34:26.000 We're seeing cops who are being shot in massacres in the United States.
00:34:29.000 We're supposed to feel good about the state of the country?
00:34:31.000 The economy's been basically stagnant for the last seven years.
00:34:34.000 We're supposed to feel great about all of this?
00:34:36.000 We're supposed to feel really optimistic?
00:34:38.000 Listen, I think America is the greatest country on the face of the earth, but I've been saying that forever.
00:34:42.000 I'm not a newbie on this.
00:34:44.000 America is the greatest country on the face of the earth in spite of the left's attempts to destroy it.
00:34:47.000 It was her husband who was saying the country had to be fundamentally transformed.
00:34:51.000 And what makes the country the greatest country on earth is the founding principles.
00:34:56.000 Not Michelle Obama saying that Hillary Clinton's a woman and she can be president.
00:35:01.000 America was the greatest country on the planet long before Hillary Clinton was born, and will be the greatest country on Earth if founding principles are restored long after Hillary Clinton is gone.
00:35:11.000 But this is how Democrats operate, right?
00:35:13.000 If we're in charge, America's great.
00:35:14.000 If Republicans are in charge, America sucks.
00:35:17.000 Democrats are in charge right now, and America is great.
00:35:20.000 It is a great country, but only because of the founding principles, and they're running it off the rails.
00:35:25.000 That's the reality.
00:35:26.000 So she gives this speech and everybody's all happy about it, but that just demonstrates that for the Democrats, whether America's great or not is a matter of the moment.
00:35:33.000 Whether America's great or not just depends on who's the president at the time.
00:35:37.000 If Clinton's president, America's great.
00:35:39.000 If Obama's president, America's great.
00:35:40.000 If George W. is president, America's terrible.
00:35:43.000 Then Elizabeth Warren gets up there.
00:35:45.000 Elizabeth crazy McCann's Warren.
00:35:47.000 And she gets up there.
00:35:48.000 And she basically gets booed by the crowd because she was supposed to be the stalwart in favor of the socialist principles, right?
00:35:57.000 She was supposed to be the person ripping on Hillary's corruption and her incestuous relationship with the big banks and Goldman Sachs, and instead she gets up there and now she's pumping Hillary pretty hard.
00:36:06.000 So here is Elizabeth Warren pumping Hillary pretty hard.
00:36:10.000 When we turn on each other, we can't unite to fight back against a rigged system
00:36:19.000 Okay, she says, if we turn on each other, we can't fight back against a rigged system.
00:36:24.000 The rigged system, she believes, is apparently the economy, right?
00:36:27.000 The economy's rigged.
00:36:29.000 But the system's actually rigged.
00:36:30.000 Like, her DNC was actually rigged against Bernie Sanders for Hillary Clinton.
00:36:34.000 So this carries no weight, and the crowd knows that it carries no weight.
00:36:38.000 So, she keeps speaking, and at a certain point, the crowd starts chanting, and you'll hear what they're chanting.
00:36:45.000 You know, for me, this choice is personal.
00:36:50.000 It's about who we are as a people.
00:36:53.000 It's about what kind of a country we want to be.
00:36:58.000 I grew up in Oklahoma.
00:37:00.000 My daddy ended up as a maintenance man.
00:37:04.000 And my mom worked a minimum wage job at Sears.
00:37:06.000 She's speaking right through it, but the guy is chanting.
00:37:08.000 My three brothers served in the military.
00:37:11.000 So the people there are chanting, we trusted you.
00:37:15.000 Right?
00:37:15.000 Yeah, does this look like a party that's divided or a party that's coming together?
00:37:19.000 And by the way, you should never trust socialists, gang.
00:37:22.000 They're out for your money.
00:37:24.000 I love when she talks about free college tuition.
00:37:26.000 How much money she was paid as a professor at Harvard Law when I was there?
00:37:28.000 I mean, I knew Elizabeth Warren.
00:37:31.000 She was paid $435,000 a year as a professor at Harvard University Law School.
00:37:36.000 That's what she was paid while she was there.
00:37:38.000 Ironically, she actually taught property while she was there.
00:37:41.000 So I guess that she was going to take everybody else's property.
00:37:44.000 So that was Elizabeth Warren's speech.
00:37:45.000 The big highlight of the night was not Michelle Obama, despite the media's accolades for her.
00:37:50.000 She'll be running for office in what time is it?
00:37:52.000 A couple of minutes.
00:37:54.000 But the big bombshell of the night was, of course, Bernie Sanders.
00:37:57.000 So first, we just have to point out, Bernie Sanders is an amusing fellow.
00:38:03.000 Here is what it looked like before Bernie Sanders went on stage.
00:38:20.000 He's carrying his speech, and he drops it, and then he looks all confused and weird.
00:38:25.000 Yeah, that's Bernie Sanders.
00:38:26.000 That's the guy who's going to save America, gang.
00:38:28.000 That's the 98-year-old socialist who honeymooned in the Soviet Union and was too lazy for a commune.
00:38:34.000 Legitimately, in the 1960s, he was thrown out of a commune because he was sitting around talking Marxist politics instead of doing work.
00:38:40.000 He was thrown out of the commune because it turns out his own actions are not communistic.
00:38:45.000 So he gets up there and he receives this massive standing ovation.
00:38:49.000 I mean, the biggest ovation by far.
00:39:14.000 Thank you!
00:39:14.000 Thank you!
00:39:14.000 Thank you!
00:39:52.000 I always like this.
00:39:52.000 Thank you!
00:39:52.000 Thank you all very much!
00:39:53.000 Where am I?
00:39:54.000 Everyone is cheering.
00:39:54.000 Thank you!
00:39:55.000 I haven't felt this good since I last took a shower six and a half years ago.
00:40:20.000 Thank you!
00:40:21.000 Why are you crying?
00:40:21.000 Did someone put an onion in here?
00:40:22.000 Thank you very much!
00:40:22.000 Thank you.
00:40:22.000 Thank you!
00:40:23.000 It is... It is...
00:40:44.000 It is an honor!
00:40:45.000 So the fact is that they're cheering this guy wildly.
00:40:48.000 This is a man who's never done anything with his life.
00:40:50.000 I mean, anything.
00:40:51.000 He's actively made the world a worse place by backing communist dictators all across the planet.
00:40:56.000 He's getting a standing O at the Democratic National Convention.
00:41:00.000 And then look how tepid the support is when he says that he was backing Hillary Clinton.
00:41:03.000 He says to the supporters, this election isn't about Hillary Clinton.
00:41:06.000 And people are less than enthused.
00:41:09.000 This election is not about and has never been about
00:41:14.000 Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders or any of the other candidates who sought the presidency.
00:41:22.000 This election is not about political gossip.
00:41:27.000 It's not about polls.
00:41:28.000 It's not about campaign strategy.
00:41:31.000 It's not about fundraising.
00:41:33.000 It is not about all the things that the media spends so much time discussing.
00:41:53.000 This election is about and must be about the needs of the American people and the kind of future we create for our children and our grandchildren.
00:42:13.000 Okay, so that is the Democratic Convention in a nutshell.
00:42:15.000 It's absolute chaos and punctuated by wild leftism.
00:42:19.000 And tonight we can look forward to President Bill Clinton speaking where he will repudiate everything good he ever did during the 1990s at the behest of his wife.
00:42:25.000 He'll say he was wrong about crime.
00:42:27.000 He wasn't.
00:42:27.000 He'll say he was wrong about lowering the capital gains tax rate.
00:42:30.000 He wasn't.
00:42:31.000 He'll say that he was wrong about welfare reform.
00:42:33.000 He wasn't.
00:42:34.000 And then he'll go out and he'll talk about Hillary Clinton.
00:42:37.000 Hillary Clinton, I love you.
00:42:39.000 I haven't seen you in at least 37 years, but I love you nonetheless.
00:42:44.000 So that'll be very inspiring, I'm sure, and it'll come right after the Mothers of the Movement.
00:42:50.000 What a horror show this convention is.
00:42:52.000 I'm not sure that Hillary gets a bump from this convention.
00:42:54.000 The reason I say that is because in the end, it's going to come down to Hillary speaking on Thursday night, and she's the most charmless person.
00:43:00.000 I mean, here's the thing about Trump.
00:43:02.000 Most people in America haven't been watching this election cycle that closely.
00:43:05.000 You and I have, because we're here every single day.
00:43:07.000 But most people are just tuning in now.
00:43:09.000 And the first they saw of Trump was Trump bellowing into a microphone for 75 minutes, but bellowing about issues that they actually care about.
00:43:16.000 The first time they see Hillary is going to be on Thursday night.
00:43:19.000 And it's not the first time they've seen her.
00:43:20.000 They've seen her for 25, 30 years, right?
00:43:23.000 And they're going to look at her and they're going to go, ugh, her again?
00:43:26.000 Seriously?
00:43:28.000 Really?
00:43:29.000 People?
00:43:30.000 She's got no upward mobility in these polling numbers.
00:43:33.000 All she can do really is tear down Trump.
00:43:35.000 Presumably she'll try to do that a little bit.
00:43:37.000 The problem is she's so corrupt that every attack on Trump, if he's rubber and she's glue,
00:43:42.000 Then, you know, the rest.
00:43:44.000 So in any case, I don't see a big bump coming out of this convention for Hillary.
00:43:48.000 I think it's going to be tight for a little while.
00:43:50.000 Events are clearly driving this election cycle.
00:43:52.000 It's almost beyond the point of personality.
00:43:54.000 Normally, personality dictates elections.
00:43:57.000 Right now, because Hillary and Trump are both so disliked, events are dictating the nature of the election cycle.
00:44:01.000 So if there's a terrorist attack, it helps Trump.
00:44:03.000 If there's a cop who shoots a black guy, it helps Hillary.
00:44:08.000 It's an ugly politics when your ideas are basically not relevant anymore.
00:44:12.000 It's just how you react on a moment-to-moment level to the things going on around you.
00:44:15.000 But that's what our politics has been turned into, and that's unfortunate.
00:44:19.000 But this convention has not been going well for the Democrats, don't believe what the media have to tell you.
00:44:24.000 And the fact that they keep saying it's going well should be proof positive that they should never be trusted ever again.
00:44:28.000 Okay, time for things I like, and then a thing I hate.
00:44:33.000 Okay, so thing I like.
00:44:34.000 We're doing Russians as the villains in film this week because of the Russians.
00:44:38.000 The Democrats say that the Russians hacked the DNC and passed out all these emails.
00:44:42.000 So, yesterday we did Eastern Promises.
00:44:45.000 Today, it's The Hunt for Red October.
00:44:48.000 So, I will say this.
00:44:49.000 This is an unpopular opinion, but hey, that's what I do for a living.
00:44:51.000 So, unpopular opinion.
00:44:53.000 Alec Baldwin is a better Jack Ryan than Harrison Ford.
00:44:56.000 Okay, they play the same part.
00:44:58.000 I love Harrison Ford in some things, but he's not as good a Jack Ryan as Alec Baldwin.
00:45:05.000 Because Alec Baldwin, it may be utterly untrue, but he can at least give the impression of intelligence on screen.
00:45:11.000 Harrison Ford is too much fun to be Jack Ryan.
00:45:13.000 Jack Ryan's supposed to be kind of a serious character with a little bit of a brooding dark side, and Alec Baldwin does that better because he's leaving terrible messages on his ex-wife's
00:45:20.000 Phone message machine.
00:45:22.000 So here is Alec Baldwin and Sean Connery, the weirdest Russian in the world, in The Hunt for Red October, which is a great movie.
00:45:30.000 Sean Connery.
00:45:32.000 Alec Baldwin.
00:45:34.000 Sam Neill.
00:45:35.000 Scott Glenn.
00:45:37.000 The Hunt for Red October.
00:45:40.000 I'm telling you, he wants to defect!
00:45:42.000 I'll shake the man loose.
00:45:44.000 Right full rudder!
00:45:45.000 Come on, son!
00:45:45.000 I'm crazy!
00:45:58.000 Okay, so it's a lot of images, so you can't see it, which is why you need to subscribe at Daily Wire.
00:46:02.000 But The Hunt for October, really, really good movie.
00:46:04.000 If you've never seen it, it's a lot of fun.
00:46:06.000 It's the best of the Tom Clancy flicks.
00:46:08.000 After this, they did... There's actually a couple that are really good.
00:46:11.000 Clear and Present Danger is really good, and has one of my favorite lines in movie history, so we'll have to save that for another time.
00:46:17.000 But The Hunt for October is the best of the Jack Ryan films.
00:46:21.000 Okay, time for some things that I hate.
00:46:23.000 So, quick detail on this ISIS attack in Normandy.
00:46:27.000 Apparently, Isaac kills this priest, they walk into a church, and they just slaughter the guy.
00:46:33.000 He's 86 years old.
00:46:34.000 And they slaughter him literally on the altar.
00:46:36.000 According to Sister Danielle de la Faust, she was able to escape the attack.
00:46:39.000 Before she fled, she told the station she witnessed the perpetrators who were filming the attacks gather around the church altar and perform some sort of religious oration in Arabic before forcing Hamel to his knees and placing a knife to his neck.
00:46:51.000 The congregants pled with the attackers to stop, she said.
00:46:54.000 Okay, the police apparently had an electronic tag on the guy.
00:46:57.000 I don't know.
00:47:13.000 If you know the city, the reason you know the city is because you know your World War II history.
00:47:16.000 But the cathedral itself, the church in which it took place, a beautiful, beautiful place, and obviously the murder of the priest is pretty incredible.
00:47:26.000 And I hope that it will jog the Europeans into further awareness that it is not a smart idea to bring in unvetted, unvetted Muslim immigrants to their continent, because it's going to continue to be a problem.
00:47:38.000 Okay, final thing I want to discuss today.
00:47:40.000 Michael Jordan
00:47:42.000 Has now decided that he has to sound off about the police and black people.
00:47:46.000 So he released a statement to Michael Jordan.
00:47:48.000 He's been kind of studiously nonpolitical for years.
00:47:51.000 And there's this tendency in the, because the sports media tend to be left also, and are very strongly left, they're constantly trying to push athletes into making statements of conscience because they think that this makes a big deal.
00:48:02.000 Here's what Michael Jordan just wrote.
00:48:03.000 He wrote,
00:48:22.000 So I'm saddened and frustrated by the divisive rhetoric and racial tensions that seem to be getting worse as of late.
00:48:27.000 I know this country is better than that.
00:48:28.000 I can no longer stay silent.
00:48:30.000 We need to find solutions that ensure people of color receive fair and equal treatment and that police officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect us all are respected and supported.
00:48:40.000 And then he talks about the dedication of law enforcement officers, and he says he has respect for their sacrifice and service.
00:48:45.000 And then he says, I also recognize for many people of color, their experiences with law enforcement have been different than mine.
00:48:50.000 I've decided to speak out in the hope we can come together as Americans through peaceful dialogue and education to achieve constructive change.
00:48:56.000 So here's my problem.
00:48:57.000 My problem is not, obviously, that he's praising the cops.
00:49:00.000 My problem is that there is this false notion that every time you talk about the cops, you have to say, well, I've had good experiences with the police, but black people all over the United States are being targeted by the cops.
00:49:10.000 Michael Jordan's father was killed by a couple of black guys.
00:49:13.000 He was murdered by a couple of black guys.
00:49:15.000 And their race is irrelevant except for the fact that the vast majority of black men who are killed in the United States are killed by other black people.
00:49:20.000 The idea that the police are targeting black folks, Jordan could have done better than this.
00:49:24.000 Jordan could have said, look, my experience with police has been fantastic.
00:49:28.000 I think the police are doing a really hard job and I would call on more black Americans to think about how we lower the crime rate in our communities rather than suggesting that the cops are responsible for all of our problems.
00:49:40.000 You know, this is really... I wish there weren't such pressure for so many people, you know, to hop on the moral equivalence bandwagon.
00:49:49.000 The police shooting black people and people shooting the police.
00:49:51.000 It's not the same thing.
00:49:54.000 Okay, final thing.
00:49:54.000 Sean Spicer of the RNC just issued this statement.
00:49:57.000 He was asked about David Duke.
00:49:58.000 You know, we mentioned yesterday that David Duke is now running for Senate in Louisiana.
00:50:01.000 And because it's a top two runoff system in Louisiana, there's a very good shot that David Duke ends up in the top two.
00:50:07.000 Sean Spicer is the spokesperson for the RNC.
00:50:09.000 He was asked, if party control of the Senate were up for grabs and the Supreme Court, would the RNC back Duke?
00:50:15.000 He said, at some point, you have to stand up for some kind of principle.
00:50:17.000 David Duke does not speak for where the Republican Party is.
00:50:20.000 So where should they draw the line?
00:50:21.000 He says, what was the Supreme Court ruling on limiting free speech?
00:50:24.000 And you know it when you see it?
00:50:25.000 I mean, at some point, when you're a white supremacist, that's a white and black issue.
00:50:29.000 There's no gray, says Sean Spicer.
00:50:32.000 Okay, if the only place that you can draw the line is at David Duke, I would suggest you're drawing your lines in the wrong place.
00:50:39.000 And that goes for everyone across the political spectrum.
00:50:41.000 Find your principles, stick by your principles.
00:50:43.000 Principles won't fail you, people will.
00:50:45.000 So, stick with your principles.
00:50:47.000 OK, folks, that brings us to the end of today's show.
00:50:49.000 I'm sure there will be more fun and games at the DNC tonight, particularly when they decide to bring forth the Black Lives Matter movement, which is what the Democratic Party is going to do tonight.
00:50:58.000 We'll bring you all of the updates.
00:50:59.000 And then on Thursday, we'll be broadcasting from Washington, D.C., because I have to speak at a Young America's Foundation dinner over there.
00:51:05.000 But we will be live nonetheless, and we will make sure that you are there to see it.
00:51:08.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:51:09.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
