The Ben Shapiro Show

Ep. 20 - Transgenders Declare War on Feminists

Summary

The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance was voted down by a two-to-one margin, which means that if I were living in Houston and I walked into the ladies' room wearing a dress, and I were no longer Benjamina, I'd be a woman. And if I wanted to use the ladies room, I would have to change my name and identify as a member of the opposite sex. And the Daily Wire would be powerless to do anything about it. This is why I don't buy into the transgender delusion that gender identity is a social construct. Gender is a biological and social construct, not a "social construct." And if you are an individual and you reject all of this, then you are now supposed to engage in your delusion. And I'm not going to buy into that. I'm going to argue that the entire basis of feminism is that men and women are not different, and that women should not be discriminated against being women. They can switch between them. So if you don't think that's a bad thing, then what are you really a feminist? And why does it matter that gender is a social construct ? And what does that even matter? And what would it matter if it were a biological construct? And if it's a social construct, then why does that matter? Why does it make it so important that women can be different than men? and why is that a woman can be both a woman and a man? And why is it important that a man and a woman are different than a woman? And how important that they can be the same? And a woman is a woman, but not a man ? And why not a woman ? why not? and a girl what matters? And is it even a woman? ? And does it even matter if they are different? if it matters? What does it really matter if a woman s a woman or a man s body ? and a woman ? And is that even a difference? a difference between a woman & a man or a girl ? And if a man's body a girl ? And what are we all better than a girl s body? or a man or a woman . if we are all the same in a biological thing? in fact, we all are the same, right? And we're all different, right and male right and female?

00:00:00.000 Here we are, folks.
00:00:00.000 It is a Wednesday, and we have tons to get to, as always, here on The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:06.000 We are going to get to, in just a little while, this Houston ordinance on transgender rights that just got voted down.
00:00:12.000 We're going to get to Princess Leia.
00:00:13.000 We're going to get to our Deconstructing the Culture segment, because it is a Wednesday.
00:00:16.000 Tons to get to.
00:00:17.000 Stick around.
00:00:18.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:18.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:25.000 Alrighty, so yesterday Houston voted down this, this, what they call the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance.
00:00:31.000 The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance is basically a provision in Houston law that would force quote-unquote non-discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, and what they call sexual identity.
00:00:43.000 Meaning that if I walked, if I were living in Houston and I walked in tomorrow and I were no longer Ben, I were Benjamina,
00:00:50.000 And I was wearing a dress, and I'd gotten a boob job.
00:00:53.000 And I know this is a horrifying image for anybody who's picturing this, but if this all happened, that the Daily Wire would basically have to just deal with it.
00:00:59.000 They couldn't do anything to me.
00:01:00.000 They couldn't fire me.
00:01:01.000 They couldn't do anything about it.
00:01:03.000 And if I decided that I wished to follow Lindsay into the ladies' room, then also Lindsay couldn't do anything about it, and she would in fact be a bigot and a sexist if she denied my womanhood.
00:01:13.000 This is what the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance did.
00:01:15.000 It was voted down by a two-to-one margin.
00:01:17.000 This was actually endorsed by Hillary Clinton, this piece of legislation.
00:01:21.000 It was endorsed by the White House as well.
00:01:23.000 The White House actually released a statement from Jeff Tiller.
00:01:26.000 He said,
00:01:33.000 The President and Vice President have been strong supporters of state and local efforts to protect Americans from being discriminated against based on who they are and who they love.
00:01:43.000 We're confident that the citizens of Houston will vote in favor of fairness and equality.
00:01:47.000 The citizens of Houston voted in favor of sanity because it turns out that fairness and equality have nothing to do with me engaging in your delusion.
00:01:54.000 The idea here is that gender identity, gender itself, is a social construct.
00:01:59.000 It was just made up.
00:02:00.000 All this stuff about how girls are girls and men are men, all this is just made up.
00:02:03.000 If we'd all been brought up as genderless, androgynous, weird creatures in some nether region of South America, then we'd all be better off because gender is a social construct.
00:02:14.000 The truth is that your failure to understand that gender is not a social construct is an individual construct.
00:02:20.000 Gender is a real biological thing which is why my daughter is a girl and acts like a girl and we all know what that means.
00:02:27.000 It's why I am a man and I act like a man and we all know what that means.
00:02:31.000 And we'll get deeper into these variations between men and women as the show goes on.
00:02:36.000 But if you are an individual and you reject all of this, then we're now all supposed to engage in your delusion.
00:02:42.000 So it's not fascistic.
00:02:43.000 It's not fascistic for you to tell me that you're a woman even though you have a penis and I have to treat you as a woman.
00:02:50.000 That's not fascistic.
00:02:51.000 What is fascistic is if I decide that I don't want to hire you if you come in tomorrow dressed as a member of the opposite sex and tell me you've changed your name and your gender and now I have to treat you as a member of the opposite sex because I'm not a fully insane person.
00:03:03.000 I'm not going to buy into that.
00:03:05.000 Okay, so the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance goes down to flaming defeat.
00:03:08.000 Now, this brings up broader questions, broader questions about feminism and the nature of transgenderism.
00:03:14.000 The theme of today's show is going to be this, folks, in a nutshell.
00:03:18.000 Transgenderism killed feminism.
00:03:20.000 Killed it.
00:03:21.000 Dead.
00:03:22.000 Transgenderism has destroyed feminism.
00:03:23.000 The entire basis of feminism is that men and women are different, and that women should not be discriminated against for being women.
00:03:31.000 The entire basis of transgenderism is that men and women are not different.
00:03:34.000 They're essentially the same, and you can switch between them.
00:03:37.000 So if you don't think that transgenderism killed feminism, just think about this.
00:03:41.000 If you say, Hillary Clinton, for example, says that gender is a social construct.
00:03:45.000 I can be a man in a man's body, but if I think I'm a woman, I'm a woman.
00:03:49.000 And then she says it's deeply important that we elect her because she is a woman.
00:03:54.000 Well, if men and women are exactly the same in every particular aspect of personality and it's all a social construct, why does it matter?
00:04:02.000 Maybe it turns out that Thomas Jefferson was a woman.
00:04:04.000 How does she know?
00:04:05.000 And what difference would it make even if he were a woman?
00:04:08.000 In the words of Hillary Clinton, what difference at this point would it make?
00:04:12.000 So feminism has been killed by transgenderism.
00:04:14.000 It's been killed dead.
00:04:15.000 But at the same time that transgenderism is full-on destroying feminism, full-on destroying it, because it destroys the very basis of feminism, namely the distinction between the sexes and that women are worthwhile and positive.
00:04:27.000 At the same time that it does this, the modern feminist movement is trying to claw its way to relevance.
00:04:32.000 And one of the things they're using to claw their way to relevance is the movies.
00:04:37.000 So there's this new movie.
00:04:37.000 If you've watched any of the debates on CNBC or MSNBC, if you watched the Democrat debate on CNN, there's this new movie that's coming out this week.
00:04:47.000 It's called Suffragette.
00:04:48.000 It's with Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep.
00:04:50.000 And this movie is
00:04:52.000 A full-on historical disaster area.
00:04:55.000 I want to show you a little bit of the preview for Suffragette, because they were showing this during the debate, and it is not coincidentally timed, folks.
00:05:01.000 This is coming out right in the middle of Hillary Clinton's run, because the idea is that Hillary Clinton represents the next stage in the evolution of feminism, and here is where feminism began.
00:05:11.000 It began with a bunch of ladies doing particularly unfeminine things.
00:05:15.000 Here is Suffragette, the preview, and then we'll discuss how everything you're about to see
00:05:20.000 Every jot and tittle that you're about to see is basically a lie.
00:05:23.000 Here we go.
00:05:27.000 Women should not exercise judgment in political affairs.
00:05:30.000 If we allow women to vote, it will mean the loss of social structure.
00:05:36.000 Vote for women!
00:05:43.000 Vote for women!
00:05:45.000 Vote for women!
00:05:46.000 Arms out.
00:05:46.000 Keep looking at me.
00:05:50.000 You work at the laundry?
00:05:52.000 Part-time from when I was seven, full-time from when I was twelve.
00:05:56.000 We meet Mondays and Thursdays if you're interested.
00:05:59.000 You a suffragette, Mrs. Elliott?
00:06:01.000 I consider myself more of a soldier.
00:06:03.000 As Mrs. Pankhurst says, it's deeds, not words, that will get us the vote.
00:06:07.000 We've identified weaknesses in their ranks.
00:06:11.000 We're hoping one of them will break.
00:06:14.000 They're saying she's to speak.
00:06:16.000 This is a deliberate escalation.
00:06:17.000 This has to stop.
00:06:26.000 For 50 years.
00:06:27.000 Meryl Streep as Emma Pankhurst, who is one of the founders of the women's suffrage movement in Great Britain.
00:06:33.000 And there is a line that's going to come up in just a minute.
00:06:35.000 I want to play it until we hit this line.
00:06:37.000 So we'll keep playing it and then I'll explain why this is important.
00:06:41.000 But peacefully to secure the vote for women, we've been ridiculed, battered, and ignored.
00:06:48.000 Punish those responsible, whatever way you can.
00:06:51.000 Mama!
00:06:57.000 All my life, I've done what men told me.
00:07:00.000 Well, I can't have that anymore.
00:07:03.000 I will take the women in Britain to rebellion!
00:07:13.000 There's nothing ever changes... ...until change cannot be stopped, right?
00:07:21.000 We break windows.
00:07:23.000 We burn things.
00:07:24.000 Because war's the only language men listen to.
00:07:27.000 Okay.
00:07:28.000 And there's your punchline, right?
00:07:29.000 War is the only language that men listen to.
00:07:31.000 That's why we break things and we burn things, etc, etc.
00:07:34.000 Okay, I'm gonna explain in one second why this whole thing is historically inaccurate.
00:07:37.000 And it is.
00:07:38.000 A lot of this is very historically inaccurate and troubling because it's historically inaccurate.
00:07:43.000 But let's just make one thing clear.
00:07:45.000 Okay, women did not win the vote because they burned things and went to war with men.
00:07:49.000 It turns out that in a war with women, okay, this is...
00:07:52.000 The left keeps using this phrase, war on women.
00:07:54.000 It's asinine.
00:07:55.000 It's an asinine phrase.
00:07:56.000 If there were an actual war between men and women, as everyone on the planet knows, men would win.
00:08:02.000 Men would win because they control all the guns and all the weaponry and because they have superior upper body strength.
00:08:07.000 That's why no one wants to go to war with women.
00:08:08.000 No one has been interested ever in going to war with women.
00:08:11.000 This is absolute...
00:08:12.000 Unbelievable horse nonsense.
00:08:14.000 Now, the goal of this is to paint Western civilization as bad, right?
00:08:18.000 Britain was a terrible place.
00:08:19.000 It was full of sexist men.
00:08:20.000 Okay, first of all, I think it's very important to note that the United States and Britain were some of the first countries in the world to actually allow women to vote.
00:08:29.000 And in Britain, zero women voted to allow women to vote.
00:08:32.000 Zero.
00:08:32.000 You know why?
00:08:33.000 Because they couldn't vote.
00:08:34.000 Men allowed women to vote.
00:08:36.000 And they didn't allow women to vote
00:08:38.000 Because they created a women's right to vote.
00:08:40.000 There was a women's right to vote.
00:08:41.000 It had not been recognized.
00:08:42.000 And it's great that there were women who were fighting for women's suffrage.
00:08:46.000 I'm not using the word suffragette for a reason, which I'll explain in a minute.
00:08:49.000 Suffragette is a, definitionally, suffragette is not the same as somebody who is in favor of women's suffrage.
00:08:55.000 People who are in favor of women's suffrage, in Britain, there were two groups.
00:08:58.000 Okay?
00:08:59.000 There were two groups.
00:09:00.000 One group was something called the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies.
00:09:05.000 These were people who pursued women's suffrage through the policies of constitutional change.
00:09:10.000 They went to their politicians, and they lobbied, and they protested, and they didn't break things, and they didn't burn things, and they didn't assault police officers.
00:09:17.000 And then, there's the group that's being glorified in this movie.
00:09:20.000 And that group was called the Women's Social and Political Union, led by a woman named Emma Pankhurst, who you see played by Meryl Streep there.
00:09:26.000 And the Women's Social and Political Union delayed, delayed,
00:09:30.000 Women's suffrage in Britain by a full 20 years.
00:09:33.000 By 20 years.
00:09:34.000 Because of the violence.
00:09:35.000 Because it turned out that men got pissed off when all of these women decided to break things.
00:09:40.000 I mean, the women who are being glorified here, you know, the WSPU, they literally went into museums and took knives and carved the art.
00:09:48.000 Like, took pieces of art and carved holes in them in favor of women's suffrage.
00:09:52.000 And this was so bad that the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies, which started off in alliance with the Women's Social and Political Union, they eventually broke with the WSPU because they said, you guys are doing so much damage to our cause, we can't even be associated with you.
00:10:06.000 The reason that this is important, folks, the reason I'm talking about this, this propagandistic movie, is for two reasons.
00:10:11.000 One is, the goal of the movie is to paint all men as horrible, and you can't paint all men as horrible if it turns out that men were a large part of the reason that women got to vote.
00:10:21.000 You can't paint all men as universally terrible if it turns out that... The theme of this movie is that women had to force men to be decent.
00:10:28.000 They had to force them.
00:10:28.000 With physical violence, they had to force them.
00:10:30.000 They didn't convince them.
00:10:31.000 They didn't use logic.
00:10:33.000 They didn't use argument.
00:10:34.000 They had to use physical violence to force these... And men are just the same now.
00:10:37.000 Men are just the same now.
00:10:39.000 There's a feminist who tweeted out after watching this piece of tripe.
00:10:43.000 There's this woman who actually tweeted out, quote, Okay, first of all, ya idiot.
00:10:46.000 Women don't live in fear of assault in the same numbers as women lived in fear of assault a hundred years ago.
00:10:53.000 Second of all,
00:11:03.000 Here's a very simple solution for you, and I suggested it to this woman.
00:11:06.000 If you're afraid of assault, then perhaps you should buy a gun and learn to use it, and shoot men who try to assault you.
00:11:14.000 She called me a misogynist for saying she should own a gun.
00:11:16.000 I'm fairly certain that the definition of anti-misogynist is, if a man tries to assault a woman, the woman should shoot him to death.
00:11:23.000 I'm fairly certain that that is not misogynist.
00:11:25.000 Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure that's not misogynist.
00:11:28.000 But the whole goal here is that women have to be upheld, men are terrible, right?
00:11:32.000 That's the whole goal here.
00:11:33.000 Men are awful, men are terrible.
00:11:35.000 You can't watch that trailer without coming over.
00:11:37.000 Every man in that trailer is bad.
00:11:39.000 Every single one.
00:11:40.000 There's not a single decent man in that trailer.
00:11:42.000 By the way, there were men as early as the 1860s in Britain, like John Stuart Mill, a famous utilitarian, who suggested that women should have the full right to vote.
00:11:50.000 So this is all historical nonsense, and again, it's something that the left likes to do because they want to rip on Western civilization.
00:11:56.000 It's the same thing that the left does with, for example, the Black Panthers.
00:12:00.000 The Black Panthers did tremendous damage to the civil rights cause, because by bombing things and by killing people, they didn't convince anyone to their side.
00:12:08.000 Instead, what they did is they convinced people that their agenda was bad.
00:12:10.000 Right?
00:12:11.000 It's what the Black Lives Matter movement is doing today.
00:12:13.000 This whole militant, we have to take it, they're not going to give it to us.
00:12:17.000 The truth is, one of the beautiful things about Western civilization is that it's not always right, but it tends to correct itself.
00:12:23.000 Because it has a capacity for looking inward and trying to fix its problems.
00:12:27.000 That's the beauty of Western civilization.
00:12:28.000 The same time we're watching movies about how Western civilization is so bad because in 1912 they wouldn't let women vote, a hundred years later, women are being genitally mutilated in large swaths of the world, and these feminists like Carey Mulligan, they wouldn't make a movie about that.
00:12:42.000 They wouldn't make a movie about that.
00:12:43.000 Because it doesn't target Western civilization as bad.
00:12:46.000 Because feminism is all about tearing down Western civilization and tearing down traditional notions of male and female.
00:12:52.000 The problem is that at a certain point, at a certain point, once you start tearing down notions of male and female, instead of upholding notions of male and female and saying that women should have equal rights, which of course is a beautiful idea and is true, I mean, the idea that women shouldn't work or shouldn't vote is idiotic in every sense.
00:13:11.000 But the idea of tearing down gender, the feminist movement went so far that they've actually destroyed themselves on the rocks of feminism, on the rocks of transgenderism.
00:13:19.000 All that the men had to do in order, all these men had to do in this movie in order to destroy the women's suffrage movement is declare themselves women and say that women were already voting.
00:13:27.000 That's all they had to do.
00:13:28.000 Seriously, according to the transgender movement, women would then have been voting.
00:13:32.000 And we would have been done here.
00:13:33.000 These particular women wouldn't have had to vote, they wouldn't have had to represent themselves.
00:13:36.000 Real women, superior women, like Caitlyn Jenner, would have been voting for them.
00:13:40.000 Okay, so part of the feminist movement is tearing down men, and it's completely erroneous and problematic, because if you tear down men, there's no contrast between men and women, and so there's no purpose for feminism in the first place.
00:13:52.000 Well, the latest step in this
00:13:53.000 Devolution.
00:13:54.000 And it is.
00:13:55.000 It's devolving.
00:13:56.000 It's not evolving.
00:13:57.000 It's devolving.
00:13:58.000 The latest step in this evolution comes from the world of Star Wars.
00:14:02.000 This is an amazing story that we covered today over at Daily Wire.
00:14:06.000 Apparently Disney now wants to pull the slave Princess Leia costumes and toys from the stores because the feminists are all hot and bothered about all of this.
00:14:17.000 They think it's just terrible.
00:14:18.000 They think it's just awful and terrible that these toys are out there.
00:14:21.000 So this is from James Barrett, one of our reporters and writers over at Daily Wire.
00:14:25.000 According to the site Making Star Wars, which leaks insider information on the latest Star Wars developments, editor-in-chief Jason Ward said he'd heard rumors a while back that Disney would be pulling the feminist-infuriating slave Leia figure.
00:14:37.000 He didn't think the story had legs, but then there was a Facebook post from Star Wars comic artist J. Scott Campbell, who said that Marvel artists are now forbidden not just to feature Princess Leia in the costume, but to even depict her in a sexy pose.
00:14:49.000 So you can't make Princess Leia sexy.
00:14:50.000 If you make Princess Leia sexy, then you have sold out young girls everywhere.
00:14:54.000 Remember from yesterday's broadcast, ladies and gentlemen, and non-cisgender people, remember from yesterday's broadcast that the left's goal now, okay, the left is saying it is bad for young girls, and they're thinking, for them to have to see a sexy Princess Leia doll, but it is good for young girls to have to see an actual male penis in their locker rooms.
00:15:16.000 This is the new agenda.
00:15:17.000 Sarah Palin isn't a real woman.
00:15:19.000 Caitlyn Jenner is a real woman.
00:15:20.000 It's bad for young girls to have to see a doll of Princess Leia, but it is good for young girls to have to pretend that a boy, a fully biological boy, in their locker room revealing himself to them is a girl.
00:15:31.000 This is the left's perverse notion of justice.
00:15:35.000 So I want to delve into this for a second and ask whether, indeed, the Princess Leia, Slave Leia costume is super anti-feminist, and it's really sexist, and it's really horrible.
00:15:44.000 And let's start with what actually happens with Princess Leia.
00:15:48.000 Now, as you remember, Princess Leia voluntarily sort of goes in as prisoner.
00:15:52.000 She goes in as prisoner with the folks in Jabba's palace, and he dresses her up in this kind of sexy bikini.
00:16:01.000 Okay, for those who can't see this,
00:16:27.000 Princess Leia wearing a bikini tossed a chain around Jabba the Hutt's neck and is now strangling him to death.
00:16:45.000 And so, this apparently is anti-feminist.
00:16:47.000 Now, I was under the weird impression that a woman killing her sexual tormentor was actually not anti-feminist.
00:16:54.000 Call me weird, call me crazy.
00:16:56.000 But I was under the impression that that's not anti-feminist.
00:16:58.000 But apparently this is anti-feminist.
00:17:00.000 Slave Leia must be stopped.
00:17:02.000 Must be stopped at all costs.
00:17:04.000 And the sort of, the fact that many young men, many young boys grew up fantasizing about slave Leia, not because she was a slave, but because she was wearing a bikini.
00:17:13.000 Okay, the fact is that
00:17:16.000 The fantasies that young boys had about Slave Leia was not the part with the chain around her neck.
00:17:19.000 It was the part where she's wearing a bikini.
00:17:22.000 Right?
00:17:22.000 And it was like PG-rated pornography.
00:17:24.000 Okay, that's the reality for a lot of kids who were 12, 13 years old and watched this movie.
00:17:31.000 Okay, but that's terrible.
00:17:32.000 That's awful.
00:17:32.000 But here are some things that the left considers truly feminist.
00:17:36.000 Let's start with our good friend Queen Beyoncé.
00:17:40.000 Beyonce Knowles.
00:17:43.000 I believe this was at the, was it the Grammys?
00:17:45.000 She did, might have been the Video Music Awards.
00:17:47.000 She did a, she did this routine.
00:17:50.000 She stood up in front of, she was dressed like a, you know, a common prostitute.
00:17:55.000 And she's dressed in front of a sign that says feminist.
00:17:59.000 Now this is all in silhouette, but as the lights dimmed, you could see that she's basically wearing a very scantily clad unitard.
00:18:04.000 I mean, that's what she's wearing.
00:18:06.000 And she does this sort of thing regularly.
00:18:07.000 This is the sort of thing that she was wearing.
00:18:10.000 Right?
00:18:10.000 This is feminist.
00:18:12.000 Right?
00:18:12.000 This is true feminism.
00:18:14.000 So Princess Leia wearing things that actually cover her nipples is not feminism, but Beyoncé Knowles wearing something that totally doesn't cover her nipples and is just body paint and her being naked on stage, this is true feminism.
00:18:25.000 Also true feminism is the music video in which she goes down on her husband.
00:18:29.000 Which actually, there's a music video in which she does this.
00:18:31.000 She's in the backseat of a car and they participate in some Lewinsky activity.
00:18:35.000 Okay, this is true feminism.
00:18:37.000 Also true feminism is Lena Dunham.
00:18:40.000 Lena Dunham, the star of HBO's Girls.
00:18:42.000 She's a true feminist because she's ugly and she gets naked.
00:18:45.000 So there's two choices here.
00:18:47.000 If you are beautiful like Beyonce Knowles and you dress scantily and then you just shout feminism randomly at the top of your lungs in the middle of public areas so we all think you're a homeless person, you're a feminist.
00:18:57.000 And if you are Lena Dunham and you look like a warmed over manatee and you get naked eating cake in a toilet stall while sitting on a toilet, this right here is feminism and that's the picture of
00:19:10.000 The very androgynous-looking... Is that Jabba?
00:19:12.000 No, that's Lena Dunham, not Jabba the Hutt.
00:19:14.000 And so, this is feminism.
00:19:17.000 True feminism.
00:19:18.000 So feminism has destroyed all sense of femininity, and even all sense of females defending themselves, right?
00:19:24.000 True femininity is being a whiny person like Lena Dunham, or being a woman... By the way, Beyonce is similarly whiny.
00:19:31.000 Whining about how women are put down in our society?
00:19:33.000 Lady, let's get real for one single solitary second.
00:19:37.000 Okay, you are extraordinarily rich because you're good-looking and you can sing.
00:19:42.000 Okay, for a woman who's been put down in our society, no, the only person who's degraded you is you by marrying Jay-Z.
00:19:48.000 I mean, seriously, that is the only person, that's the only man who has degraded Beyonce.
00:19:52.000 And I'm sorry, but dressing like you do in public is not a service to young women.
00:19:58.000 It's not a service to young women, but that can be, but according to the left, that's a service to young women, but Princess Leia is not a service to young women anywhere.
00:20:04.000 Also, true feminism is recognizing that true femininity is not Princess Leia defending herself from a crazed lizard.
00:20:12.000 True feminism is this guy.
00:20:15.000 This dude, Caitlyn Jenner, that's true feminism.
00:20:17.000 And this is where we cross over the line from feminism into transgenderism, and now it's like a snake eating itself.
00:20:23.000 Because now we've crossed over to the point where women are, where women are actually men.
00:20:28.000 Right, where true feminism, and this guy won the Glamour Woman of the Year.
00:20:31.000 He won the Woman of the Year, so men are better, women, sorry about this, men apparently are better at everything, including being you.
00:20:36.000 We're better at everything, right?
00:20:37.000 We're better at sports, we are better at building technologies, we're better at inventing things, and we're better at being women, apparently, according to the left.
00:20:44.000 We're even better at being—we don't even have to cut off our dinghies in order for us to be better at being women, because Bruce Jenner still has all of his parts, okay?
00:20:52.000 This is how wild—we have now departed from reality, and the goal of departing from reality for the left.
00:20:57.000 So the question is, why do they do all of this?
00:21:00.000 Why do they do all of this?
00:21:02.000 And the answer is, because in the name of equality, everything must be destroyed.
00:21:07.000 Everything must be destroyed.
00:21:09.000 Because distinctions of any kind, of any kind, inherently mean inequality.
00:21:16.000 The goal of the left is what they say is the most happiness for the most people.
00:21:20.000 The goal of the right is individual rights.
00:21:21.000 It's a very different thing.
00:21:22.000 The goal of the right is you have certain rights, we have to protect those rights because you're a human being.
00:21:26.000 The goal of the left is not rights.
00:21:28.000 They create fake rights, but they're not rights.
00:21:29.000 The goal of the left is the most happiness for the widest number, and the most happiness for the widest number means us imposing our standard of what should be on you.
00:21:38.000 And if it makes Caitlyn Jenner unhappy to be called a male, then we must all abide by these new rules.
00:21:44.000 After all,
00:21:45.000 What's the big harm if your 16-year-old girl has to look at a 16-year-old boy's penis if he thinks he's a girl?
00:21:50.000 This is where the left is going.
00:21:52.000 All distinctions have to be obliterated.
00:21:53.000 Because it turns out men and women are not equal in every way.
00:21:57.000 Women are better at some things and not better at other things.
00:22:01.000 Women are, for example, very good, much better at choosing sexual partners than men.
00:22:06.000 Which is one of the benefits of human evolution.
00:22:09.000 The fact is that men are pigs.
00:22:11.000 Men want to have sex with anything.
00:22:12.000 Rocks, trees... There's a reason that a male-only society would devolve into conflicting war and sexual activity until it died within three days.
00:22:24.000 It would be over within three days.
00:22:25.000 Just a place where it was only men and there was no hope of ever getting back to women, it would be over within three days.
00:22:31.000 Because women are better at certain things than men are.
00:22:34.000 And men are better at certain things than women are.
00:22:36.000 And so they're not equal in all ways.
00:22:38.000 And because they're not equal in all ways, and the left believes that this false notion of equality is essential to human happiness, which is not true, which is not true.
00:22:45.000 They believe that happiness is derived from you not feeling inferior to anyone in any way.
00:22:51.000 People on the right believe that happiness is derived from you fulfilling your duty.
00:22:55.000 This is actually a pretty significant distinction.
00:22:58.000 For those of us on the right, this is true for religious believers especially, we believe that happiness is derived from fulfillment, from fulfilling your purpose on the planet, why you're here.
00:23:08.000 The left doesn't believe there's a purpose for why you're here.
00:23:10.000 So true happiness is really just avoiding unhappiness.
00:23:13.000 True happiness is everybody pussyfooting around you to avoid your unhappiness.
00:23:18.000 True happiness is you just sort of existing and people not stepping on you and being forced not to step on you.
00:23:24.000 That's what true happiness is.
00:23:25.000 And if you believe in that, then all distinctions have to be obliterated, because distinctions immediately mean someone feels better and somebody feels worse.
00:23:31.000 Linguistic distinctions have to be destroyed.
00:23:34.000 There can't be such a thing as male and female.
00:23:35.000 We have to obliterate it completely, because if there are distinctions, some people are going to feel better at things, and some people are going to feel worse.
00:23:42.000 We have to get rid of basic notions of science.
00:23:44.000 Science has to go out the window.
00:23:45.000 There is nothing scientific about transgenderism, about this ridiculous notion that men can transform into women and vice versa.
00:23:51.000 Nothing.
00:23:52.000 There is nothing at all sci- It is completely ascientific in every way.
00:23:56.000 But science has to be done away with, because science makes distinctions.
00:24:00.000 And eventually everything has to be done away with.
00:24:01.000 The human nature has to be done away with.
00:24:03.000 We have to just create these pod people, these androgynous pod people, who are arbitrarily defined by their own subjective beliefs in what makes them happy.
00:24:11.000 Which of course will end with tremendous human suffering and tremendous human unhappiness.
00:24:16.000 As you can see.
00:24:17.000 The transgender community has been told now for several years that your self-definition as a member of the opposite gender is up to you and everybody will just abide by it.
00:24:28.000 The suicide rate has not dropped one iota.
00:24:30.000 The suicide rate is still 4 in 10 people who identify as transgender will attempt to commit suicide at some point in their life.
00:24:36.000 The only comparable rate of suicide in all of human history was Jews living under Nazi German rule.
00:24:42.000 That is the only comparable rate of suicide.
00:24:45.000 This is a
00:24:47.000 Humoring mental illness in the name of equality does no one any favors, particularly transgendered people, and also the people who are forced to buy into false notions of reality in order to avoid unhappiness in the name of the collective happiness of the left.
00:25:02.000 Now, meanwhile, Hollywood, which is destroying itself in so many ways with movies like Suffragette.
00:25:08.000 Suffragette isn't going to make a dime.
00:25:10.000 It's not going to be a big hit.
00:25:11.000 It'll win some Oscars.
00:25:13.000 It's got a big cast.
00:25:15.000 It looks well-made.
00:25:16.000 It's not going to make any money, though.
00:25:18.000 Another movie that's not going to make any money is, of course,
00:25:20.000 The new Quentin Tarantino hateful eight.
00:25:22.000 It's not gonna make any money because Quentin Tarantino can't keep his mouth shut.
00:25:25.000 Quentin Tarantino, who by the way is the most overrated director next to Darren Aronofsky working in Hollywood today.
00:25:31.000 The great thing about a boycott Quentin Tarantino film is I was going to anyway because you can just watch the three scenes on YouTube that are four minutes long and save two hours of your life.
00:25:41.000 There's always three good scenes in his movies.
00:25:42.000 In Pulp Fiction, there are, like, three good scenes.
00:25:44.000 The last scene with Bruce Willis is a great scene.
00:25:47.000 In Inglourious Basterds, there was, like, one good scene, the very opening scene.
00:25:53.000 And the rest of the movie's garbage, so that's the nice thing about boycotting Tarantino, is you don't really miss much.
00:25:58.000 But Tarantino's being boycotted because he got up in a Black Lives Matter movement, and he said this about cops.
00:26:08.000 And when I see murder, I cannot stand by, and I have to call the murdered the murdered, and I have to call the murderers the murderers.
00:26:18.000 And so people in the police forces were rightly saying that this was a slander on all cops, because who exactly is he calling a murderer?
00:26:25.000 Who are the specifics?
00:26:26.000 He's talking in front of the Black Lives Matter movement, which has suggested less policing for everybody.
00:26:30.000 Hollywood has created this insular culture for itself, in which all distinctions have to be obliterated, language has to be twisted, all in pursuit of some common
00:26:39.000 I'm not.
00:26:57.000 Everybody on the other side of the aisle, I don't like boycotts as a general rule.
00:27:00.000 I don't have time in my day to research the political leanings of all the actors and musicians that I watch or listen to.
00:27:06.000 But, if the left is going to play this game, they need to be taught not to play this game by people taking money out of their pockets.
00:27:11.000 Okay, well it is a Wednesday, and I would be remiss if I didn't do a brief deconstructing the culture segment.
00:27:17.000 Well, okay, so this one is particularly egregious.
00:27:21.000 This particular song is not a good song.
00:27:24.000 And forgive me, I don't even remember the name of this song.
00:27:26.000 I think it's Player?
00:27:28.000 How is this pronounced?
00:27:29.000 Tanash?
00:27:30.000 Tanashi?
00:27:31.000 Tanushi?
00:27:32.000 I don't know.
00:27:33.000 And Chris Brown shows up, presumably not to beat the crap out of her.
00:27:38.000 But here is the song, Player.
00:27:41.000 And we will deconstruct it for you because, again, as we say every Wednesday here on The Ben Shapiro Show, culture matters more than politics.
00:27:48.000 More people will see this music video than will see this podcast, obviously.
00:27:52.000 And therefore, it is important for you to know what your kids are watching, what your friends are watching, and what you're watching when you're telling all your friends that you're actually not watching it.
00:27:59.000 So here is the music video for Player by Tinashe, Tinashe, Tinashe and Chris Brown.
00:28:08.000 Here we go.
00:28:15.000 And it's showing a definition of the word player.
00:28:18.000 Somebody who wins in a contest.
00:28:20.000 OK.
00:28:21.000 And typical pop opening, we've got a hot chick on a bed.
00:28:24.000 Feminism for the win!
00:28:25.000 Woo!
00:28:27.000 All right.
00:28:28.000 And now we've got Chris Brown, who looks like he's about to murder someone, which is his go-to look.
00:28:36.000 OK, writhing around on a bed some more from this lady.
00:28:39.000 And now suddenly she's dressed, which I guess is an upgrade.
00:28:47.000 Okay, so... Okay, so she's a very pretty girl, and she's dancing around with this guy, and she's still dancing around with this guy, but then things are about to turn for the dark.
00:29:16.000 So she got rid of one guy who's a dancer, and now she's brought another guy who's a dancer, another clean-cut guy who's a dancer, and now they're gonna dance around for a while.
00:29:29.000 And I'll go through the lyrics in just a minute, because it gets wild in just a moment.
00:29:34.000 Okay, she's dismissed guy number two, and here comes guy number three, and he also is a good-looking dancer.
00:29:41.000 And so she's dancing with everybody, and by dancing, I mean she stands around and they do all the dancing.
00:29:46.000 It's like dancing with the stars watching this Tinashe lady.
00:29:49.000 So she's good at writhing and having large breasts.
00:29:52.000 This is her skill set.
00:29:58.000 Okay, still dancing.
00:30:01.000 And in a minute she's gonna dismiss this dude and she'll move on to the real love of her life who she wants to have sex with, who looks like he is straight from prison.
00:30:12.000 Oh yeah, here we go.
00:30:13.000 And now Chris Brown shows up.
00:30:16.000 And she's very into the whole... She's into the Chris Brown.
00:30:22.000 And also she's now dancing with a lady.
00:30:24.000 Okay, so here's where this goes.
00:30:25.000 Okay, so now we can analyze the lyrics, which if you're listening, then you probably heard some of the lyrics.
00:30:31.000 If you're watching, you have no idea what the lyrics were because you're watching this hot chick dance around in a leotard, right?
00:30:35.000 I mean, let's be real, that's what the music video is for.
00:30:38.000 So here's what the actual lyrics are for people whose eyes were busy, okay?
00:30:42.000 The lyrics are,
00:30:44.000 I don't know.
00:31:04.000 Yeah, you holdin' me back, holdin' back, but it ain't enough.
00:31:07.000 You and I make so much love, why you got me all effed up?
00:31:09.000 Well, maybe, lady, you shoulda held back on that before you jumped in the sack with this dude.
00:31:14.000 Yeah, you got me holdin' back, holdin' back, cuz it ain't enough.
00:31:16.000 And then, Chris Brown shows up and proceeds to rap like this.
00:31:20.000 And this is very attractive to this woman in this song.
00:31:23.000 Alright, baby girl, I don't want them other B-words.
00:31:26.000 You be talkin' that S-word, callin' me a player, yeah.
00:31:29.000 Ain't no competition, F the opposition.
00:31:31.000 I'm the man of my city, just like the mayor.
00:31:34.000 I met her in the hotel lobby, then we started loving in the elevator.
00:31:38.000 You know I had to eat that tongue on her body, see you later alligator, which is clever in second grade.
00:31:44.000 Rolling around in the bed, smacking her on her ass.
00:31:46.000 She's a stone-cold killer, 45 in the back.
00:31:48.000 Mama told her never mess with an N-word like me.
00:31:52.000 This is attractive to women, apparently, this sort of talk.
00:31:55.000 Now, I have a question for all the feminists out there who have had nothing to say about the rap scene or the R&B scene at all, right?
00:32:01.000 Tinashe, she's a feminist, just like everybody else.
00:32:03.000 She's a feminist.
00:32:05.000 And I have one question.
00:32:07.000 Is the depiction of women here accurate?
00:32:10.000 Now, I understand that the feminist movement wants to promote this image of women as completely the same as men in every way, which, as we've said, the rest of the program ends in the transgender myth, which destroys feminism.
00:32:20.000 But part of the myth of feminism is that women and men act similarly on the sexual level.
00:32:26.000 Okay, this whole video is this woman dancing with these men and then rejecting them after presumably, you know, having sexy dances with them.
00:32:33.000 Okay, this is such unbelievable nonsense.
00:32:36.000 Has anyone who has, I don't know if these people have ever met a woman, or if they've ever met a man, I don't know if they live in a bubble somewhere, but this is not how women act.
00:32:44.000 And then they wonder, all these people wonder, how is it that men have a perverse and wrongful view of women?
00:32:49.000 Why do they view women as sex objects?
00:32:51.000 Oh, I don't know.
00:32:52.000 I mean, you watch the, how could, how could anyone view this as a woman being a sex object?
00:32:59.000 Why would women, why would men think?
00:33:01.000 There's another Top 40 song we considered doing today, it's a Justin Bieber song, and the whole Bieber song is, you won't tell me what you want, sometimes you want to go, sometimes you want to stay, sometimes you want to have sex, sometimes you don't, I don't know what to expect from you.
00:33:12.000 Okay, this level of frustration is probably derived from watching videos like this and listening to the lyrics.
00:33:17.000 Because if you just watch videos like this, if you just listen to the Top 40 culture, women want sex all the time.
00:33:24.000 All right.
00:33:35.000 Women, in this view, women and men are identical when it comes to sex.
00:33:40.000 This is untrue and it's highly damaging to girls who buy into it.
00:33:43.000 Much more damaging to girls than to guys.
00:33:45.000 This is guys creating a guy's utopia, right?
00:33:47.000 Guys, that lyric, I met her in the lobby and we started loving in the elevator, you just described every man's fantasy of the world, right?
00:33:55.000 Every straight man's fantasy of the world, and gay men's fantasy too.
00:33:58.000 The difference is that when it's men on men, then men both want this fantasy, so it's more commonly, it's more,
00:34:04.000 It's more likely to occur, okay?
00:34:05.000 Women are not going to engage in this sort of activity as commonly as men are, because men are pigs, right?
00:34:10.000 And this is true whether they're straight men or whether they're gay men.
00:34:12.000 The difference is that women don't act as a check on gay men.
00:34:14.000 Men don't act as a check on men.
00:34:16.000 As I said, if it were a world of men, only men, the entire world would implode within three days.
00:34:21.000 But there's this feminist notion
00:34:25.000 The feminist movement could have done a whole hell of a lot of good by simply saying to men, stop being jerks.
00:34:31.000 Right?
00:34:32.000 If that had been the feminist movement, stop being pigs, be gentlemen, that would have been a good thing.
00:34:36.000 But the feminist movement, in its quest for equality, again, they have to destroy everything.
00:34:40.000 So they had to destroy the patriarchy, including institutions like marriage, which are the best deal women ever got.
00:34:45.000 Okay, marriage is the best deal women ever got.
00:34:49.000 Because men's biology is such that men want to have sex with lots of women.
00:34:54.000 Teenage girls in the audience, be warned.
00:34:55.000 When your boyfriend says he loves you so you should go to bed with him, he loves you because he wants to go to bed with you.
00:35:02.000 You might want to actually get a commitment before you do that because, I promise you, men want to have sex with lots of people.
00:35:10.000 Marriage as an institution is the best thing that ever happened to women because it locked men in.
00:35:13.000 And not only did it lock men in, it locked them in for life.
00:35:17.000 Okay, biology and aging is not as kind to women as it is to men.
00:35:21.000 Just a fact of the matter.
00:35:22.000 And the fact is that men are still fertile at age 60 and women are not.
00:35:25.000 Okay, that's just the way that human biology works.
00:35:28.000 But marriage locked men in to infertile women who are not as attractive as they were 40 years ago.
00:35:34.000 And that's a good deal for women.
00:35:36.000 By the way, I believe it's enriching for men as well, but it's definitely on the scale of, is marriage better for men or for women?
00:35:40.000 It's definitely better for women than it is for men.
00:35:42.000 Definitely.
00:35:43.000 By every available standard, it is better for women than it is for men, particularly because once you have kids, it locks the man in to actually provide.
00:35:50.000 But the entire feminist movement is based around the idea that there can't be any distinction between men and women, and so women act like men, and then women are unhappy when men treat them like men.
00:35:59.000 Women act like men, right?
00:36:01.000 They act like men sexually, at least in the pop culture, and then they're surprised that men have a perverse view of women.
00:36:07.000 Women, in the traditional view, are to be treasured.
00:36:11.000 Women are to be put on a certain pedestal, and there's nothing wrong with that.
00:36:15.000 There was an Oscar a few years ago.
00:36:18.000 It was actually the same year as this whole feminist routine from Beyoncé, where she's dressed skimpily, skimpily attired, in front of this feminist sign.
00:36:24.000 That same year, Sofia Vergara, who's a very attractive woman, was on the Oscars, and they put her on a pedestal.
00:36:30.000 And the whole joke was that all the men were staring at her on the pedestal.
00:36:33.000 And the feminist movement went nuts.
00:36:35.000 Okay, Sofia Vergara's appearing on a pedestal for a bunch of men was significantly less damaging to women than Beyoncé acting as sexualized as men do on a regular basis.
00:36:45.000 Because number one, it's not true, and number two, when women embrace the idea that it is true, they participate in behaviors that actually hurt them.
00:36:51.000 The fact is that promiscuity among teenage girls is highly linked not just to elevated levels of disease, but to depression and suicide as well.
00:36:57.000 Because men and women don't treat sex the same.
00:36:59.000 But in the goal of obliterating all distinctions in the name of collective human happiness, in the idea that my subjective view of the world ought to rule all people's view of the world, we've created a more unhappy society, and a society that is bound to eat itself in the end.
00:37:15.000 And that's the direction that we're moving.
00:37:16.000 The good news is that in Houston, at least, it was stopped by a two-to-one vote.
00:37:19.000 But when the left says that they don't want something to happen, when the left says, and we don't want the obliteration of the sexes, don't believe them.
00:37:26.000 They're pathological liars.
00:37:27.000 The left originally said, remember, just take the homosexual rights movement as an example.
00:37:32.000 Gay people originally said, we don't want the government to prosecute us for being gay.
00:37:36.000 And everybody went, okay, makes sense.
00:37:38.000 And they said, don't worry, we'll never want government benefits.
00:37:41.000 Within 10 years, they wanted civil unions.
00:37:43.000 And everybody went,
00:37:45.000 I guess, okay.
00:37:46.000 And they said, but we'll never want same-sex marriage.
00:37:48.000 Within 10 years, they wanted same-sex marriage.
00:37:50.000 They said, don't worry, it won't affect you.
00:37:52.000 People said, OK.
00:37:54.000 And then, within two years, they were trying to throw bakers in jail for not catering to same-sex weddings.
00:37:59.000 There is no end to what the left wants, because when you're questing for utopia, everything is an obstacle and everything must be destroyed.
00:38:05.000 That is why the left is so nihilist.
00:38:07.000 And that's what you're watching here, when it comes to their art.
00:38:10.000 The art of the left is a nihilist art.
00:38:11.000 There is nothing fulfilling.
00:38:12.000 There is nothing uplifting.
00:38:13.000 There is nothing that enriches the human experience or human happiness about the themes of this art.
00:38:18.000 I mean, beautiful people are always fun to watch.
00:38:20.000 Music can be catchy.
00:38:21.000 It doesn't enrich the human heart.
00:38:23.000 It doesn't enrich the human experience if the message is utter darkness, chaos, and nihilism.
00:38:28.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:38:29.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
