Summary

It's a Tuesday morning on The Ben Shapiro Show, and we have a lot to get to here today. President Obama was on Broadway yesterday doing a fundraiser, and while he was there, he decided to rip on all the Republican candidates. Now, as we discussed yesterday, many Republican candidates were getting together to put together a letter of demand. They wanted to know what they wanted in a debate, who should be a moderator, what settings they wanted, and some settings they would like. For example, they wanted to make sure the temperature in the auditorium was always 67 degrees, which makes a lot of sense, because as somebody who's actually been under the giant lights of a TV studio, you start to sweat. And if you look sweaty on national TV, it doesn't help Scott Walker when he looked sweaty in the very first debate, and so the other candidates don't want to be hit with that. And then, they can't handle a bunch of CNBC moderators. Big claps, big cheering, big claps. And then he moves on to Putin. Well, if they can t handle the CNBC moderators, then how are they going to handle the real problems in the world? And meanwhile, China is making moves in the South China Sea. They're eating your lunch. And they're eating you lunch when it comes to environmental deals and economic deals. So maybe the only thing Obama can do is speak to CNBC commentators. And maybe that's not so bad after all. And we'll tell you why you should not vote for Chris Christie, John Kasich or Carly Fiorina, believe it or not, and why you don't need to vote for either of them, and you should vote for Carly Fiorina or Chris Christie or not! and we'll get to that in a second episode of the Ben Shapiro show on why you shouldn't vote for John Kasich and Carly Fiorina and why he should not be voting for either one of them. And why you're not going to get much of a chance to run for president in 2020. Ben Shapiro's take on the transphobic, transgenderist, bigotry-obsessed, bigoted, transgenderism, big headed, big guy, big ear Donald Trump, and a guy who thinks he's too sensitive to criticism from Bill O'Reilly, too sensitive about his big ears. You're not gonna believe it, you're gonna like it, right? You'll have to listen to this one to figure it out.

00:00:00.000 It is a Tuesday.
00:00:01.000 We have a lot to get to here today on The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:03.000 Apparently, the federal government has gone stark raving insane over the issue of transgenderism.
00:00:08.000 We will get to that.
00:00:09.000 We will also be getting to the fact that you should not vote for Chris Christie or John Kasich or Carly Fiorina, believe it or not, and we'll tell you why.
00:00:16.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:17.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:24.000 So yesterday, President Obama was over on Broadway doing a fundraiser.
00:00:27.000 And while he was doing this fundraiser, the President of the United States decided he was going to rip on all the Republican candidates.
00:00:33.000 Now, as we discussed yesterday, many of the Republican candidates were getting together to put together a letter of demand.
00:00:40.000 Saying what they wanted in a debate, what they didn't want in a debate, who could be a moderator, what some of the settings would be like.
00:00:46.000 For example, they wanted to make sure that the temperature in the auditorium was always 67 degrees, which makes a lot of sense, actually.
00:00:54.000 This is not stupid, because as somebody who's actually been under the giant lights of a TV studio,
00:01:00.000 You start to sweat.
00:01:00.000 If you're on stage and there's a lot of lights, you will start to sweat.
00:01:03.000 And if you look sweaty on national TV, it doesn't redound to your benefit.
00:01:07.000 It didn't help Scott Walker when he looked very sweaty in the very first debate, and so the other candidates don't want to be hit with that.
00:01:12.000 They also wanted to ask for the bathroom to be placed close enough to the stage where they could get off and on the stage during the commercial breaks.
00:01:20.000 Which, of course, makes sense.
00:01:21.000 The media is mocking this endlessly, and President Obama is mocking this.
00:01:24.000 He's mocking the fact that the Republican candidates want to know who the moderators ought to be.
00:01:29.000 Here's the President of the United States bashing Republicans, saying that if they can't handle moderators, how are they going to handle the real problems in the world?
00:01:38.000 Have you noticed that every one of these candidates say, you know, Obama's weak,
00:01:48.000 Putin's kicking sand in his face.
00:01:50.000 When I talk to Putin, he's gonna straighten out.
00:01:57.000 Just looking at him, he's gonna be... And then, it turns out, they can't handle a bunch of CNBC moderators.
00:02:12.000 Big claps, big cheering.
00:02:14.000 This president apparently doesn't own a mirror because under the word irony in the dictionary is now a picture of Barack Obama.
00:02:22.000 There's Barack Obama whining about everybody being mean to him in the media.
00:02:25.000 Oh, they're being mean to me.
00:02:26.000 They're all being so mean to me.
00:02:27.000 Okay, so clearly he can't even handle the criticism of members of the media.
00:02:30.000 Remember, he starts off this little rip by saying that Republicans are upset with him, that he's getting sand kicked in his face by Putin.
00:02:37.000 And that actually wasn't another Republican candidate who said that.
00:02:40.000 That was a member of the media who used the kicking sand in his face line, if I recall correctly.
00:02:45.000 And then he moves on to, if they can't handle the CNBC moderators, well, that means that they can't handle Putin.
00:02:51.000 First of all, Mr. President, let's get real for just a second.
00:02:55.000 You have been the president, not George W. Bush, for the last seven years.
00:02:59.000 Interminable years.
00:03:00.000 Endless, terrible years.
00:03:02.000 And in that time, Vladimir Putin has taken over Ukraine, and Vladimir Putin has taken over Syria, and Vladimir Putin is expanding his power to the South.
00:03:10.000 He's trying to start making moves into Kazakhstan.
00:03:13.000 He's scaring everybody in NATO.
00:03:14.000 And meanwhile, you mentioned China there.
00:03:16.000 China is making moves in the South China Sea.
00:03:18.000 They're eating your lunch when it comes to environmental deals and economic deals.
00:03:23.000 So maybe the only thing Obama can do is speak to CNBC commentators.
00:03:26.000 One thing he certainly can't do is deal with the actual media, because here's the truth.
00:03:30.000 Obama has spent a huge percentage of his time as President of the United States bashing the media, bashing the press, as in over and over and over again.
00:03:40.000 I can list you example after example where he did this.
00:03:43.000 It starts all the way back in 2006.
00:03:45.000 Barack Obama in 2006, Maureen Dowd, the non-funny columnist for the New York Times, she made fun of Barack Obama's ears and he actually said this.
00:03:53.000 He said, quote, he said, talk about my ears.
00:03:56.000 I just want to put you on notice.
00:03:57.000 I'm very sensitive about what I told them.
00:03:59.000 I was teased relentlessly when I was a kid about my big ears.
00:04:02.000 He complained to Maureen Dowd about her criticizing his big ears.
00:04:07.000 And he's saying that Republicans are too sensitive to criticism.
00:04:09.000 Presidents of the United States, if you recall, before the 2014 Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks, you remember the President was on with Bill O'Reilly, and there he said that Bill O'Reilly was unfair to him for asking him difficult questions.
00:04:21.000 It was unfair.
00:04:22.000 The President has complained about Fox News.
00:04:24.000 The President, just four days ago, complained about the decentralization of media because it means we're all watching different outlets and he can't get his propaganda out there.
00:04:32.000 And here he is complaining that Republicans
00:04:35.000 are doing this routine with regard to the media.
00:04:37.000 And this just shows you what my friend Bill Whittle likes to call... This is what Democrats do.
00:04:41.000 This is gaslighting at its purest.
00:04:44.000 Gaslighting.
00:04:44.000 Gaslighting comes from an old movie with Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman.
00:04:50.000 It's this movie in which Ingrid Bergman is married to Charles Boyer, and Charles Boyer is trying to drive her insane.
00:04:56.000 And the way that he does this is he turns down all of the lights in their apartment, and he moves things around.
00:05:02.000 And when she says, you know, I thought that I turned the lights all the way, he says, no, no, that was never the case.
00:05:07.000 That's exactly what Democrats are doing now.
00:05:08.000 So you get all these moderators.
00:05:10.000 making ridiculous statements, going after Republicans in ridiculous ways.
00:05:14.000 Then when Republicans complain, the moderators go, oh, this is just because you're too weak.
00:05:18.000 It's because you can't handle it.
00:05:20.000 Okay, no, it's because you're biased and ridiculous.
00:05:23.000 It's because you're terrible at your job.
00:05:25.000 And I said something along these lines yesterday, but I do want to reiterate.
00:05:30.000 One of the things that frustrates me so much about all of this, and this is why I mentioned Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina and John Kasich up front,
00:05:38.000 One of the things that annoys me about the Republican Party and the conservative movement in general is there are people who are free riders.
00:05:44.000 There are people who sort of take advantage of the fact that there is a left media and they go and cater to the left media on a regular basis in order to make a buck.
00:05:53.000 And I didn't think it was true of Carly Fiorina, but apparently it is.
00:05:56.000 A lot of these Republicans were talking about sending a letter to the networks, and three candidates in particular.
00:06:01.000 Donald Trump said he wouldn't sign the letter because Donald Trump has his own list of demands.
00:06:05.000 Because as we've mentioned on the show, Donald Trump is a fat lion, and if you poke the fat lion, Donald Trump will eat your face.
00:06:10.000 Well, Donald Trump has his own list of demands because he's the alpha male in the room.
00:06:14.000 But Chris Christie,
00:06:16.000 Actually came out and said yesterday exactly, almost in Obama's exact words, what Obama said.
00:06:21.000 If you can't handle CNBC moderators, how are you supposed to handle Putin?
00:06:24.000 And then he said he wouldn't join any letter pushing demands to the networks.
00:06:28.000 And John Kasich, who is the most obnoxious human outside of Hillary Clinton,
00:06:34.000 Of all humans.
00:06:51.000 Whenever the left looks for a guest—this is something you should know when you watch TV, folks, because it really is important—whenever the left, MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC News, when they look for a Republican guest, when they have the Republican roundtable, more often than not—not always, but more often than not—the people who are regulars on these panels
00:07:11.000 are people who are not hardcore conservatives, specifically because they allow the networks—this is the tacit deal—they allow the networks to get away with the false perception of neutrality.
00:07:21.000 They allow the networks to get away with it.
00:07:23.000 So you see George Will, right?
00:07:24.000 George Will's on ABC News pretty much every week.
00:07:27.000 And George Will on ABC News.
00:07:29.000 You never, ever hear him turn to Martha Raddatz or to any of the other ABC News anchors and say to them, you know, I don't even know what you're talking about.
00:07:38.000 Of course you're a leftist.
00:07:39.000 That's why you're asking this question.
00:07:40.000 Which would be the first thing I would ask any of these people.
00:07:43.000 I've been calling literally for years.
00:07:45.000 You can find speeches of me online talking about this five, ten years ago, saying, why is it that Republicans, when they're sitting across from George Stephanopoulos, don't say to him, George, you're a Clinton hack, you were in the Bill Clinton war room, and now you're portraying yourself as an objective news reporter.
00:08:01.000 Let's at least get this straight before we start.
00:08:02.000 I'm a conservative, you're a leftist, and now we can have an honest conversation.
00:08:06.000 Republicans didn't do that.
00:08:07.000 It took this report about Stephanopoulos giving money to the Clinton Global Initiative, and then everybody feigns shock.
00:08:13.000 We're all supposed to be super surprised that George Stephanopoulos, who was in the Clinton war room, making plans with the Clintons, that he was on the side of the Clintons.
00:08:23.000 This is supposed to be a big surprise to anybody, and now he's been banned from moderating debates.
00:08:27.000 Well, we knew all this back in 2012, when he completely threw up—destroyed the entire narrative.
00:08:33.000 He destroyed the entire election narrative by asking Mitt Romney about whether he was going to ban condoms or some such nonsense.
00:08:40.000 So there's this tacit deal that Republicans make.
00:08:42.000 In order for me to get time on your network, I will pretend, for purposes of me making money and getting time, I will pretend that you're objective.
00:08:50.000 And this is why I frequently get emails and tweets from people, why aren't you on TV more?
00:08:54.000 This is the reason I'm not on TV more, gang, is because every time I'm on TV, my first task is to object to the person who's questioning me presenting themselves as a neutral arbiter.
00:09:04.000 I'm not neutral, I'm conservative, and I'm open about it.
00:09:06.000 I was once at the RNC, actually.
00:09:08.000 I was at the Republican National Convention in 2012 in Tampa, and I was walking around Radio Row, and this is where all the radio hosts sit, and this is true for all of the mainstream media, not just talk radio.
00:09:19.000 And I'm walking around, and there, I could spot him by his eyebrows a mile away.
00:09:22.000 There is Sam Donaldson.
00:09:24.000 And it's rare for me to attack somebody for their eyebrows, but Sam Donaldson's got me dead to rights.
00:09:29.000 And Sam Donaldson is standing there and he's questioning people.
00:09:33.000 He now has Sam Donaldson, who used to be, if you recall, if you're old enough to recall this, this is actually before my time, but Sam Donaldson was the objective reporter.
00:09:40.000 He was the objective reporter, I believe it was for NBC News.
00:09:44.000 And Sam Donaldson, maybe it was ABC, I think it was ABC actually.
00:09:47.000 And Sam Donaldson, he now has an opinion show.
00:09:51.000 He has an opinion show, and he is always to the left.
00:09:53.000 And so I went up to Sam Donaldson—we had it on tape, but the tape quality was really poor.
00:09:58.000 I went up to Sam Donaldson, and I said, you know, Mr. Donaldson, I just want to ask you one question, which is, now you have an opinion show on the left.
00:10:04.000 Did you hold these same views when you were a reporter?
00:10:06.000 He said, yeah, I've always held these views.
00:10:08.000 I said, so why did you lie to everybody?
00:10:10.000 Why did you pretend that you were objective?
00:10:12.000 And he said, what?
00:10:13.000 He got very angry at me.
00:10:14.000 He said, what, you think you're better at me?
00:10:16.000 Better than me?
00:10:17.000 And he started kind of moving his eyebrows all around like Groucho Marx.
00:10:20.000 He said, what, you think you're better than I am?
00:10:22.000 And I said, well, yeah, you're a liar, and I'm not.
00:10:25.000 I do think I'm better than you.
00:10:26.000 I don't lie.
00:10:27.000 I'm conservative.
00:10:27.000 You're a leftist.
00:10:28.000 I don't pretend to be objective.
00:10:29.000 I'm not.
00:10:30.000 I have a perspective.
00:10:30.000 I have principles upon which I stand, a value system upon which I'm based.
00:10:35.000 Here's the point.
00:10:37.000 Without the right granting to the left that patina of objectivity, they can't have it.
00:10:42.000 If no Republican went on these programs without first pointing out, by the way, you guys are leftists, there would be no patina of objectivity.
00:10:49.000 Everybody would see the truth.
00:10:50.000 This is why I'm angry at Carly Fiorina and Chris Christie and John Kasich, because the longer this patina of objectivity goes on, the more damaging it is for Republicans.
00:10:59.000 And you can see that the media are actually kind of scared of what the other candidates are doing.
00:11:03.000 Chris Matthews.
00:11:04.000 Oh, an MSNBC steak!
00:11:05.000 A hardball!
00:11:06.000 Chris Matthews.
00:11:07.000 He was fighting mad over this.
00:11:09.000 This is the guy who said he had a tingle in his leg over Barack Obama at one point in his career.
00:11:15.000 This guy is very upset that Republicans are objecting to media bias.
00:11:18.000 This guy, by the way, yesterday the Huffington Post announced that the Democrats will be holding a town hall style debate.
00:11:23.000 Who will be moderating this town hall style debate?
00:11:25.000 Rachel Maddow of MSNBC.
00:11:28.000 Rachel Maddow, an open leftist.
00:11:30.000 And then they wonder why Republicans object to the choice of moderators from places like CNBC?
00:11:35.000 Anyway, here is Chris Matthews saying, Kathleen!
00:11:40.000 Kathleen!
00:11:41.000 If GOP loses now, what are we going to do?
00:11:42.000 Who are they going to blame?
00:11:44.000 Chris Matthews, who apparently stumbled out of bed and onto a TV set.
00:11:50.000 But what happens when you have only the voters you want voting, white, middle-aged, and minimally well-off, when you have debates run only by the party itself, all topics safely predictable, and even have the questions all coming from people guaranteed to have opinions on the outside rail of Republican thinking?
00:12:07.000 Who do you blame defeat on then?
00:12:09.000 And then he proceeded to fall asleep and keel over in his chair.
00:12:16.000 But this is what's amazing.
00:12:18.000 So the left is portraying the right
00:12:20.000 As extreme in the same election where Bernie Sanders is driving Hillary Clinton to the left.
00:12:25.000 They have an open Democratic Socialist who is now gaining upwards of 30% of the vote in primaries and a closeted Democratic Socialist in Hillary Clinton.
00:12:33.000 But it's the right wing that's extreme because they refuse to accept the premise that people like Chris Matthews ought to decide the debates and who the moderators ought to be.
00:12:42.000 And here's what's amazing.
00:12:43.000 We're even getting this routine from some folks on the right.
00:12:46.000 I'm a fan of Megyn Kelly's.
00:12:47.000 I like Megyn Kelly's show.
00:12:48.000 Full disclosure, I'm on Megyn's show every so often.
00:12:52.000 And Megyn was going after the GOP over their debate tactics.
00:12:55.000 Here's Megyn Kelly on Fox News blasting away at the Republicans for this letter.
00:12:59.000 So now they're banding together to try to get the networks to make sure... You tell the audience, Chris, how hot do they want it in the debate hall?
00:13:08.000 67 degrees.
00:13:09.000 That needs to be in a contract.
00:13:11.000 They can't have... They want all the candidates to receive similarly substantive questions.
00:13:15.000 No so-called lightning rounds of questioning.
00:13:17.000 Approval of any on-screen graphics aired during the debate.
00:13:20.000 Oh, yeah, that's gonna happen.
00:13:21.000 The network should commit that they will not ask hand-raising questions, yes or no questions, allow candidate-to-candidate questions, and then maybe, like, a foot massage or, like, a little... I mean... No brown M&Ms.
00:13:31.000 No brown M&Ms.
00:13:32.000 Get all the brown M&Ms out of the bowl.
00:13:34.000 Okay.
00:13:35.000 The idea that the Republicans are asking for anything absurd or out of the ordinary is not true.
00:13:40.000 I mean, everything that she mentions there, again, is not absurd.
00:13:42.000 Having the debate hall at a certain temperature is not absurd.
00:13:45.000 Saying no yes or no questions is not absurd because in a political debate, it's very rare
00:13:50.000 There is a question that can be answered simply with yes or no because then pretty much the entire basis of the answer is dependent on the phrasing of the question.
00:13:58.000 I can phrase the same question two different ways and get a yes or a no depending on how I phrase the question.
00:14:03.000 If I say to somebody, are you pro-choice?
00:14:08.000 It depends on what kind of choice I'm talking about.
00:14:13.000 The phrasing of the question becomes everything in yes or no questions, which is why when candidates are asked, they have to have the ability to disagree with the very premise of the question.
00:14:21.000 When you have people on the left asking questions like, why does your tax plan benefit the rich?
00:14:25.000 Or does your tax plan benefit the rich?
00:14:27.000 Yes or no?
00:14:28.000 That's not a yes or no question, right?
00:14:30.000 It could be yes, it benefits everyone.
00:14:32.000 But if they just say yes,
00:14:34.000 Then that's technically true.
00:14:35.000 If they say no, it's not true.
00:14:37.000 But the question is to circum—it's to—
00:14:41.000 It's too circumscribed, the question.
00:14:43.000 It's too contained.
00:14:44.000 And so there's no way to give a yes or no.
00:14:46.000 So nothing that they're demanding there, that Megyn Kelly is ripping on them for, is really out of bounds.
00:14:51.000 But here's the problem.
00:14:51.000 Media want to maintain control of the system.
00:14:53.000 They have to maintain control of the system.
00:14:55.000 This is how they make money.
00:14:56.000 After all, after the debates, you never hear members of the media talking about what an informative, rational, and decent debate it was.
00:15:03.000 You hear them bragging about how many tens of millions of people watched it.
00:15:06.000 That's always the key.
00:15:07.000 It's how many people watched it.
00:15:08.000 Because that's all the networks care about.
00:15:10.000 Which is not, of course, the priority.
00:15:12.000 And then it's funny to me that people like Carly Fiorina are saying that she doesn't want to sign a letter to the networks.
00:15:17.000 Meanwhile, Carly Fiorina, we talked about this earlier this week,
00:15:21.000 On The View, they said that Carly Fiorina looked demented.
00:15:24.000 Her face looked demented.
00:15:26.000 Which, I mean, for the ladies of The View, I mean, today is the irony episode of The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:15:31.000 For the ladies of The View to accuse anyone's faces of looking demented is just beyond insane.
00:15:37.000 Carly Fiorina slapped back at The View and she said, you know, say it to my face, man up.
00:15:41.000 Whoopi Goldberg decided that it was time to slap Carly Fiorina.
00:15:45.000 And then the media wonder why we have questions about how they run their operations.
00:15:48.000 Here's Whoopi Goldberg attacking Carly Fiorina with her trademark wit and scintillating intelligence.
00:15:56.000 Here's the deal.
00:16:00.000 Carly will be here on Friday.
00:16:02.000 Now, I will not, but I do want to point out, Carly, that the last time you were here, and you'll see B-Roll running, we welcomed you to our table.
00:16:13.000 We helped raise your
00:16:16.000 We're good to go.
00:16:34.000 You have to know the difference between when somebody's coming for you and when somebody is paying you a compliment and when somebody is saying, here's my observation.
00:16:43.000 If you can get that together, maybe you can be president.
00:16:45.000 But how about this Republican candidate?
00:16:49.000 No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:16:52.000 Okay, so.
00:17:05.000 Whoopi Goldberg continues to talk there and rant there.
00:17:08.000 And Whoopi Goldberg, of course, neglects to mention the fact that she and her friends called Carly Fiorina's face demented two weeks after they ripped Donald Trump for making a joke over Carly Fiorina's face.
00:17:20.000 But this is how the media views it.
00:17:21.000 What Whoopi Goldberg is saying is exactly how the media see it, which is, we are granting you the privilege of our audience.
00:17:27.000 We're granting you the privilege
00:17:29.000 I don't know.
00:17:46.000 You should be so flattered that you should never object to anything that we're doing again.
00:17:50.000 And after all, why shouldn't you object?
00:17:52.000 Why should you object when you have such geniuses like Joy Behar here?
00:17:56.000 Geniuses like this.
00:17:56.000 Here's Joy Behar, who apparently has developed a real sexual obsession with Bernie Sanders, which is just bizarre.
00:18:02.000 Again, the ugliest coupling in human history, if that happened.
00:18:05.000 But the sex, I'm sure, would be unbelievably hot.
00:18:07.000 Here's Joy Behar talking about Bernie Sanders and her desperate love for him.
00:18:13.000 It shows that you can connect on a human level.
00:18:15.000 I'm not going to kiss anybody that should be me, don't you think?
00:18:24.000 And Raven-Symoné is sitting there like, God, this is why I became a lesbian.
00:18:30.000 Joy Behar is... I can't imagine why Carly Fiorina objects to this crowd.
00:18:35.000 And you watch.
00:18:35.000 She'll be on on Friday.
00:18:36.000 It's the only reason to ever watch The View.
00:18:38.000 And Carly Fiorina will hold her own, but again, the audience will be stacked against her.
00:18:43.000 I actually don't think that Carly Fiorina is gonna do
00:18:45.000 A significant amount of damage to the view.
00:18:47.000 I think that she'll go on there and she'll be more polite than she needs to be.
00:18:50.000 I think she should go on there and start throwing punches immediately.
00:18:54.000 Like out the gate.
00:18:55.000 I think she should start off immediately by saying, y'all are hypocrites.
00:18:58.000 You pretend that you're feminists, but you aren't.
00:19:00.000 You attack women for their looks as long as you disagree with them politically.
00:19:03.000 You're disgusting.
00:19:04.000 And she should say it in pretty much those words, and then see what all these women have to say.
00:19:08.000 But she won't do that, because again, the game in all of this is to be polite to the media, even when the media are the ones stabbing you in the back.
00:19:14.000 This is why there was this constant, perpetual look of surprise on John McCain's face in the 2008 election cycle, because he was like,
00:19:22.000 He was like the last person stabbed in a slasher flick.
00:19:26.000 He just couldn't believe that it had finally come to him, right?
00:19:30.000 Because he's always the guy who's friends with the media.
00:19:31.000 He couldn't believe that they'd finally come around to him.
00:19:33.000 And it ain't just the left-wing media, by the way.
00:19:36.000 I'll give you an example of a person who is constantly on TV.
00:19:40.000 I said earlier, if you're a conservative and you want to be on TV, you have to kiss the media's butt.
00:19:45.000 You have to grant them their patina of legitimacy.
00:19:48.000 The people they consider conservative on mainstream network television are not.
00:19:51.000 They're not.
00:19:52.000 Most of them are not.
00:19:53.000 I'll give you an example.
00:19:53.000 David Brooks.
00:19:54.000 Okay, David Brooks we've discussed on this program before.
00:19:57.000 David Brooks is on, I believe, it's NBC News pretty much every weekend.
00:20:00.000 And David Brooks is also the guy who once said about Barack Obama he would make a great president and he knew he'd make a great president because of the way he creased his pants.
00:20:09.000 Seriously, this is something David Brooks said back in 2006, which begs the question as to why he was staring at the creases in Barack Obama's pants.
00:20:15.000 But here is David Brooks talking about how, this is the conservative guy, the conservative guy on the panel, talking about what he's going to do if Donald Trump is the nominee.
00:20:25.000 But I just can't imagine.
00:20:26.000 A major American party does not nominate Donald Trump.
00:20:29.000 I just can't believe it.
00:20:29.000 I'll have to go to Canada.
00:20:31.000 A major American party doesn't nominate Donald Trump.
00:20:35.000 Excuse me, David, but major American parties are now about to nominate Hillary Clinton.
00:20:40.000 They've nominated, and he's been president twice, Barack Obama, the guy you endorsed based on the size of his pants.
00:20:46.000 Okay, and this is the guy who's the conservative.
00:20:48.000 And you wonder why conservatives continue to lose the media battle.
00:20:52.000 Well, meanwhile, I want to move off of the media for a while, because I could go on all day about them, as I have for two straight days, actually.
00:20:58.000 So, let's move off of that.
00:20:59.000 And I want to talk a little bit about how completely insane and off-the-rock the federal government is.
00:21:05.000 The federal government—this is an amazing story.
00:21:06.000 It's from the Chicago Tribune today.
00:21:09.000 Illinois' largest high school district violated federal law by barring a transgender student from using the girls' locker room, authorities concluded on Monday.
00:21:19.000 The U.S.
00:21:19.000 Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights spent nearly two years investigating Palatine-based Township High School District 211 and found, quote, a preponderance of evidence that school officials did not comply with Title IX, the federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex.
00:21:37.000 First of all, Title IX was specifically designed to prevent discrimination against women by men.
00:21:42.000 It was designed to prevent open discrimination or covert discrimination against women by men or against men by women.
00:21:49.000 In this particular case, here's what happened.
00:21:51.000 There's a high school student.
00:21:52.000 He is a he.
00:21:55.000 Well, a tip for happiness in life, folks.
00:21:58.000 If somebody ever tweets you a piece of audio about you, never listen to it.
00:22:01.000 And I made the mistake of listening to a piece of audio yesterday.
00:22:04.000 It was an old piece of audio from the Adam Carolla show.
00:22:08.000 And Adam's a friend, and more importantly, Adam is a good thinker.
00:22:12.000 And Adam was on with Dr. Drew.
00:22:15.000 This is from several months ago.
00:22:17.000 And this is about a week after the infamous Zoey Tur run-in on Dr. Drew's show, which, if you're unaware of this, go Google it.
00:22:25.000 Basically, there was a transgender dude who thinks he's a lady because he's mentally ill, who's on Dr. Drew's show with me, and I said, I don't understand why we're mainstreaming transgender delusion by pretending that men are women and women are men.
00:22:37.000 They aren't.
00:22:38.000 And this guy grabbed me by the back of the neck and threatened to send me home in an ambulance.
00:22:41.000 That's the short story.
00:22:42.000 Well, I'm listening to this show, and Dr. Drew,
00:22:46.000 Who's a doctor, a medical doctor, is acting as though men who declare themselves women are actually women.
00:22:52.000 This is how far through the looking glass we are.
00:22:54.000 So, Title IX, which was designed to protect actual women, not men who think they're women, not men who... By the way,
00:23:01.000 According to the federal government, this boy who thinks he's a girl, he's had no hormone therapy, he's had no surgery.
00:23:07.000 So even if you believe that this magically changes you into a woman, which it does not, okay?
00:23:11.000 There is no standard.
00:23:13.000 If a man is in a war and he loses his genitals in a war, he doesn't magically become a woman.
00:23:17.000 Okay, if a man has to have hormonal injections for some various reasons, for health reasons, he doesn't magically become a woman.
00:23:24.000 And guess what?
00:23:25.000 Your brain, there's no such thing as a female brain existing in a male body.
00:23:28.000 It just doesn't work that way.
00:23:29.000 That's not how biology works.
00:23:30.000 There's nothing more unscientific than this notion of magical transgender fluidity.
00:23:36.000 It just doesn't, it's absolute BS in every possible way.
00:23:38.000 Well, the federal government
00:23:40.000 has now decided, in this particular case, that the high school violated the student's rights.
00:23:47.000 The student, who was identified as a girl for a number of years, filed a complaint with the Office for Civil Rights in late 2013 after she—I love the media—after she was denied unrestricted access to the girls' locker rooms.
00:23:58.000 First of all, full biological boy, complete with twig and berries, okay?
00:24:02.000 Everything's there.
00:24:03.000 District and federal officials negotiated for months, and a solution appeared imminent as recently as last week, when the district put up privacy curtains in the locker room.
00:24:11.000 So, the district complied, and they said, we'll allow this boy into the girl's locker room.
00:24:17.000 One thing, we're gonna, you get naked in the locker room, we're gonna put up curtains so these girls aren't forced to gaze upon the male anatomy.
00:24:24.000 The kid objected.
00:24:26.000 He said, no, all these girls should be forced to look at my genitals.
00:24:29.000 If I want to show my genitals, these girls should be forced to look at my genitals.
00:24:32.000 So here is the magical world the left has now created with all of this garbage.
00:24:36.000 Okay, there's the magical world.
00:24:38.000 If a boy were to, in his classroom, in his classroom, if a boy were to show a girl a picture of himself naked, or text a picture of himself naked to the girl, that violates two laws.
00:24:49.000 One, child pornography laws, you're not allowed to convey that over any sort of communicative device.
00:24:54.000 And two, it would be sexual harassment, right?
00:24:56.000 It would be sexual harassment if a boy were to just unsolicited show his junk to a girl.
00:25:01.000 However, if that boy pretends he's a girl or is mentally ill and thinks he's a girl and shows his junk, not only can he show his junk to the girl, the girl is obligated to be in a position to look at it.
00:25:11.000 Obligated to be in a position to look at it.
00:25:13.000 And it's discrimination if the girl says, I don't want to see that.
00:25:17.000 That just means that she's a sexist.
00:25:18.000 You see, it means she hates women.
00:25:20.000 It means the girl hates women if she doesn't want to look at a penis.
00:25:23.000 Got it?
00:25:24.000 You with me?
00:25:25.000 So this is the logic of the left now, okay?
00:25:27.000 And this is how far it's gone.
00:25:29.000 It seriously has gone so far.
00:25:30.000 This occurred to me the other day.
00:25:31.000 You realize that we live in a society now where if an adult, this is the correct standard, okay?
00:25:38.000 The correct standard.
00:25:39.000 If an adult were to touch a child sexually, I'm talking about like a 10, 11 year old child sexually, in a sexual manner, that would be pedophilia.
00:25:47.000 We'd put him in jail for life as we should.
00:25:49.000 And we should look to castration as a possible solution, because this is egregious stuff.
00:25:53.000 However, and why?
00:25:55.000 Even if the kid says they consent.
00:25:56.000 Why?
00:25:57.000 Because children are not capable of consent, right?
00:25:59.000 This is the basis of all pedophilia law.
00:26:01.000 However, if that 10 or 11 year old says, I am a girl, and that 10 or 11 year old happens to be a biological boy, and you chop off that person's genitalia,
00:26:13.000 Where you give that person hormone treatment to shrivel their genitalia and prevent hormonal development, then you're a hero.
00:26:20.000 So in other words, if you're a doctor and you touch a kid's privates without any sort of consent, in a sexual manner, you go to jail.
00:26:27.000 If you touch a kid's privates, give that kid a shot to prevent the development of the privates, and then prepare that kid to have the privates chopped off, you're a hero.
00:26:34.000 This is the logic that has now been created.
00:26:36.000 John Knight, who's the director of the LGBT and AIDS Project at the ACLU, which is a lot of letters in a row, he says, quote,
00:26:57.000 Because she's not a girl.
00:27:00.000 Maybe the other girls don't see her as a girl because her ain't a her.
00:27:05.000 You know how they can tell that?
00:27:06.000 Because they're looking at her naked and it's a him.
00:27:11.000 What's incredible about all of this is that it completely breaks down.
00:27:14.000 This is the amazing thing about the human mind.
00:27:17.000 We're all capable of creating these kind of ambiguities in our own heads.
00:27:22.000 We're all capable
00:27:25.000 of creating these sort of vague perspectives on what the world is.
00:27:29.000 When you hear stories like, it's a man, he thinks he's a woman, so let's call her she.
00:27:33.000 A lot of people go, okay, fine, doesn't hurt me, what's the big deal?
00:27:36.000 Right, what's the big deal?
00:27:38.000 Then you say, well, is that person a woman?
00:27:39.000 Yeah, sure, that person's a woman.
00:27:41.000 He says he's a woman?
00:27:42.000 First of all, this is so insulting to women.
00:27:44.000 It's so insulting to women.
00:27:45.000 I don't know how women buy into this.
00:27:46.000 Forget men.
00:27:46.000 I don't know how women buy into the idea that a man can magically become a woman.
00:27:50.000 Okay, every woman who's actually lived life as a woman and lived through the experience of having her first period, for example, or having development, or growing up as a young girl, which is different than growing up as a young boy, knows that you can't magically become a woman at age 25 because it went through your head to become a woman.
00:28:07.000 It's such unbelievable nonsense.
00:28:08.000 But beyond that, we all have these kind of vague perceptions.
00:28:11.000 Sure, go along to get along.
00:28:13.000 Ask any of your leftist friends, and again, you shouldn't have them, but if you have leftist acquaintances, any of your leftist acquaintances, if you have a leftist acquaintance who insists to you that Caitlyn Jenner, right, Bruce Jenner, who still has all of his male anatomy, Bruce Jenner is fully intact, right, all Bruce Jenner had was a boob job and some hormone treatment and an eight hour jaw surgery to look like a guy in drag.
00:28:36.000 That's all that Bruce Jenner did.
00:28:38.000 And I'll call him Caitlyn Jenner because I guess he legally changed his name, but you can't change your sex, okay?
00:28:43.000 He's a dude.
00:28:45.000 Ask your friends.
00:28:45.000 If they think that Bruce Jenner is a woman, that Caitlyn Jenner is a woman, ask them if they would ever date, ever date, a woman like that.
00:28:54.000 Seriously, it's a very simple question.
00:28:56.000 Any of your male friends who say this to you?
00:28:58.000 Any of your male acquaintances?
00:28:59.000 Ask them if they would ever date a man who had transformed into a woman.
00:29:02.000 Do they really consider that person a woman?
00:29:04.000 Of course not.
00:29:05.000 Of course not.
00:29:06.000 Because it's absolute nonsense.
00:29:07.000 And ask a woman the same thing.
00:29:09.000 If you believe that a woman can transform into a man, would you ever date a man like that?
00:29:14.000 Would you date Chaz Bono?
00:29:16.000 Would that be your ideal of a man?
00:29:18.000 Of course not, because it's nonsense.
00:29:19.000 But here's the point.
00:29:21.000 The goal—the federal government is now fully engaged in the idea of ripping down objective truth.
00:29:26.000 Objective truth has no meaning except what the federal government says.
00:29:29.000 The federal government has become God.
00:29:31.000 How do we know it's true?
00:29:32.000 Because the feds say it's true.
00:29:34.000 How do we know that it's—how do we know that something is real?
00:29:36.000 Because the feds say it real.
00:29:38.000 And if you don't believe it, you're crazy.
00:29:40.000 So the person who thinks he's a girl but is a guy is not crazy.
00:29:43.000 You're crazy for thinking he's a guy.
00:29:45.000 Right?
00:29:47.000 We've reached beyond the point of madness.
00:29:49.000 The entire society has become a gaslighting society.
00:29:51.000 And when you call it out, then you're called crazy.
00:29:54.000 Again, listening to the Corolla Dr. Drew interview was so fascinating because listening to Dr. Drew try to explain why it is that a man who is fully male in every possible way but calls himself a woman is actually a woman, him trying to explain this as a scientist, it's laugh-worthy.
00:30:12.000 It's cringeworthy.
00:30:13.000 This is why whenever the left says, you know, we were ripping yesterday on Ben Carson, because Ben Carson doesn't believe in the atheistic notion of evolution.
00:30:21.000 He believes in guided evolution.
00:30:22.000 He believes in a creator.
00:30:24.000 And they were saying, oh, that means he's scientifically illiterate.
00:30:26.000 It's hard to think of something more scientifically illiterate than men and women are exactly the same, except for their genitalia.
00:30:32.000 And even the genitalia can't stop you.
00:30:34.000 That a man who's fully, that if I say right now, right now, I'm a woman, you have to treat me as a woman for the rest of my life.
00:30:40.000 Right?
00:30:41.000 It's hard to get more scientifically illiterate than that.
00:30:44.000 But this is what the left does.
00:30:45.000 They've now destroyed science.
00:30:47.000 They've destroyed art.
00:30:47.000 Anything with any objective meaning has been destroyed.
00:30:51.000 Andrew Klavan likes to talk about kind of the destruction of art.
00:30:53.000 Well, the first step toward the destruction of art is defining art as everything.
00:30:57.000 Right?
00:30:57.000 Once art is everything, art is nothing.
00:30:59.000 Right?
00:30:59.000 Once art is
00:31:01.000 Is this woman smearing chocolate and feces all over her body in public?
00:31:08.000 Once that's art, art has no meaning anymore.
00:31:10.000 Yes, there is such a thing as objective truth.
00:31:12.000 There's a great movie called Whiplash that everybody should see.
00:31:15.000 It's a really terrific movie.
00:31:17.000 It should have won Best Picture a couple of years ago.
00:31:19.000 Maybe it was last year.
00:31:20.000 It should have won Best Picture last year.
00:31:21.000 It's a very, very good picture.
00:31:24.000 And there's one scene that is truly great, where the kid, who's played by Miles Teller, he's a drummer, and he's trying to become the world's greatest drummer, basically.
00:31:33.000 And there's one point where he's at the dinner table with a bunch of other people, and he says, yeah, I'm playing in this music competition, and one of the people says, well, aren't those things judged really subjectively?
00:31:42.000 Isn't it subjective, as to who's better and who's worse?
00:31:45.000 And he just looks at them with scorn, and he says, no.
00:31:48.000 And that's right.
00:31:49.000 That is right.
00:31:50.000 It turns out that you may have a standard of what you like and what you don't like, but there is no standard.
00:31:54.000 There is no standard that is objective in any way by which Run DMC is the same as Beethoven.
00:32:00.000 There is no standard in any way by which a male and a female are exactly the same and you can magically switch by changing your mind.
00:32:06.000 There is no standard by which
00:32:08.000 The media are objective.
00:32:10.000 There's no standard by which this exists.
00:32:12.000 So before you buy into the lies that are pushed by the left because it's convenient and it's comfortable, recognize something.
00:32:17.000 This is part of a broader agenda.
00:32:19.000 It's a broader agenda to destroy the very notion of objective truth.
00:32:22.000 And this is what happens when you have a country that has gotten away from the idea that there is such a thing as a God-given truth, that there is a nature from which we can derive anything.
00:32:31.000 I have a theory that I've been developing, and I'll close with this.
00:32:35.000 I have a theory
00:32:37.000 I don't know.
00:33:07.000 Sure.
00:33:08.000 At the very end of the play, Oedipus finds out that these are his parents, and he gouges out his own eyes.
00:33:13.000 Because his search for knowledge, and he's been told, don't look, don't dig too deep here, it's going to be a problem.
00:33:19.000 And you see this kind of paradigm played out in everything from Oedipus to Planet of the Apes, where Dr. Zaeus says, don't dig, you're Charlton Heston, you never know what you might find.
00:33:30.000 We've reached the point in Western civilization where we have dug so deep that we are now digging our own grave.
00:33:35.000 What I mean by that is that we have decided that meaning is completely subjective because there's no such thing as objective truth.
00:33:41.000 We killed God, so objective truth doesn't exist anymore, which of course means that anything that you claim, including claims of the left, are now non-objectively provable, so we can't have any sort of real conversation with each other.
00:33:54.000 It means that science itself, which is based on logical processes generated by the human brain, if you believe that the human brain is basically just a bunch of fire rings of neurons, the very basis of science is undermined now because there's no such thing even as scientific truth.
00:34:07.000 Scientific truth is bound to a narrative established by the left.
00:34:11.000 Subjectivity trumps objectivity.
00:34:14.000 We've destroyed the concept of free will.
00:34:16.000 Because after all, if we're all just a series of firing mechanisms, then you're not making a decision right now.
00:34:20.000 I'm not making a decision right now.
00:34:22.000 All of this was pre-programmed.
00:34:23.000 And once people realize that everything's pre-programmed, there's no such thing as personal responsibility, and society decays.
00:34:29.000 This is what happens when you destroy God.
00:34:31.000 This is what happens when you destroy objective truth.
00:34:34.000 And we've reached that point in American life, and it's visible everywhere from the arts, to the media, to boys now trying to share girls' locker rooms, and the federal government acting as the new God and telling us that what is false is true and what is true is false.
00:34:46.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:34:47.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
