Bill Nye is a self-proclaimed "scientist" who thinks that if you believe something hard enough, it's as true as things discovered through the process of science, and if you don't believe it, then it's objectively wrong. This is the dirty little secret of the left's sudden embrace of science. It's not science that they support, but religion. They support that which they believe, but cannot prove, and do not care about proving. Science is just a baton for the left. They claimed that Bush hated science, that fetal stem cells were the wave of the future, and that he was a moral ayatollah. In other words, science has not dictated their behavior. And yet, as Oren Cass points out, there are plenty of people who know better than the most pro-choice ideologues about how life in the womb is a complex thing, not a black and white thing. There are people who are better than you at making decisions about whether or not you should be allowed to have a baby. And yet we still get it wrong, even when science is the only thing that can make sense. and yet we keep insisting that it s not a matter of fact, it s a moral stance, not an opinion or a point of view and not a moral one. and that we should be able to make better decisions about what s good and bad and what s bad and what is good and what isn t good and good and which is better than what s not good and which isn t bad and which we should all agree on and what s better than . What s good, you ask the question: is it better than that? or not? And what are you going to do with your sperm? And does it have a butt stuff? and does it really have a voice? And what s it have some butt stuff ? is it more than it s good or not good, or is it ? And is it good and not better than it has some of its own butt stuff and it s just not that s better or not ? or it s in a ? And why is it not? And why does it matter?

00:02:21.000 Not just that global warming is happening, but that massive government intervention is necessary in order to avert imminent global catastrophe.

00:02:31.000 But that speculation has costs, particularly to the most impoverished people on the planet, who benefit disproportionately from cheap carbon-based fuels.

00:02:38.000 Even if you accept the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimate that sea levels will rise by two feet over the course of the rest of the century and the temperature will rise about seven degrees Fahrenheit, there is reason to question, as Oren Cass points out, whether or not massive government intervention is necessary or even justifiable.

00:07:23.000 Sure, this might make things confusing for those who insist everyone pick an M or an F.

00:07:31.000 And the science says we're all on a spectrum.

00:08:06.000 They say sex is your biology, and then they say that gender is a social construct that says you need to be masculine or you need to be feminine.

00:08:13.000 Now, not a lot of people that I know actually care whether you act masculine or whether you act feminine, per se.

00:08:18.000 But that's not choosing a gender, okay?

00:08:20.000 That's just whether you act masculine or feminine.

00:08:22.000 Then what the left does is they say, your masculinity or femininity, we can now read back into your sex. 1.00

00:08:29.000 If you're a man who's biologically male and you act feminine, maybe you're a woman. 1.00

00:08:36.000 It is also evil to suggest that a three-year-old knows that they're going to choose a gender that is opposite of the one that they have.

00:08:48.000 It is your job as an adult to teach them about things that are complex and make the complex simple in ways that they can understand.

00:09:16.000 What he has is anecdotal evidence saying that people who are 20 say, when I was 3, I felt like a girl in a boy's body.

00:09:30.000 The idea that he is saying this is purely anti-scientific.

00:09:36.000 I'm old enough to remember when Bill Nye was on my television explaining that sex was a function of chromosomes.

00:09:43.000 And now he's saying sex is a function of whatever's in your head, and it can change over time.

00:09:46.000 Your gender can change over time.

00:10:09.000 Bucking particular stereotypes about feminine and masculine, that I'm sure is true because people do it every day.

00:10:15.000 What is not true is that you can change your sex, and the left conflates the two after separating them out.

00:10:20.000 They like to pretend that everything that is feminine is not linked to sex, and then they pretend that if you are masculine as a girl, that means that you must be actually secretly a man. 0.99

00:10:49.000 The studies show that 8 in 10 kids, who at any point suffer from any sort of gender identity issues, grow out of that by the time they hit their teenage years.

00:10:58.000 And what he is saying is that we should tell all kids, 100 out of 100 kids, we should tell them all they can pick their sex. 0.97

00:11:03.000 So now you're telling a bunch of 3 year olds, who are by nature dumb, that they can pick their sex. 0.99

00:11:21.000 And again, there's no scientific evidence to suggest that you're a boy in a girl's body.

00:11:25.000 In fact, even the people who say that brain scans show differences between transgender people and people who are not transgender, even those say

00:11:32.000 That it is a transgender brain, but it does not mean that you have a woman's brain in a man's body.

00:11:36.000 It just means that you have differences from the traditional male brain.

00:11:39.000 Even that is really scanty evidence, but that's the furthest that good scientists will go.

00:11:43.000 And to say anything different is just not scientific.

00:11:46.000 But let's take this statistically and assume that the left is even correct.

00:11:48.000 Okay, so, the transgender suicide rate over the course of a lifetime is 40%. 40%.

00:11:53.000 Less than one person per 100 is going to be transgender in the United States.

00:11:57.000 It's just, it's very, very rare, okay?

00:11:59.000 And it's getting more common now because it's become kind of trendy, and because if you're a teenager and you want attention, then you can do it.

00:12:04.000 Or if you have doubts, then we have decided that we are going to promulgate those doubts into reality.

00:12:08.000 So, even if you're not just trying to do it for some nefarious reason, if you have doubts, we're now trying to reinforce those doubts as a society.

00:12:14.000 But let's use the numbers on hand, so like, say one out of a hundred kids is, has gender identity disorder or gender dysphoria.

00:12:21.000 Now you're talking about that kid having a 40% lifetime suicide rate.

00:12:24.000 There's no evidence that that is mitigated in any significant way by society's acceptance of transgenderism.

00:12:30.000 Now, you're saying that, let's say that there are 100 kids who are told that they can pick their gender.

00:12:35.000 And 10 of those kids are now confused.

00:12:36.000 Not even 100.

00:12:37.000 10 of those kids are now confused.

00:12:40.000 That normally, according to those statistics, virtually all of them would grow out of this confusion.

00:12:47.000 But now you're reinforcing the confusion.

00:12:48.000 So now let's say those 10 all say, I'm the other sex. 0.55

00:12:53.000 So now you've taken a situation in which one kid had a transgender identity issue and has a 40% lifetime suicide rate.

00:13:02.000 And let's even say that this new process lowers that one kid's rate of suicide attempt.

00:13:09.000 Let's say that it lowers it from 40% to 20%.

00:13:13.000 Okay, now if you've increased the number of people who are engaging in this particular problem by three, if you have confused three more kids, then you now have four kids, let's not even take the ten, let's say you now have four out of a hundred who have a 20% suicide rate, as opposed to one out of a hundred who has a 40% suicide rate.

00:13:30.000 You've not improved things, you've made things worse, in terms of people who are suicidal, for example.

00:13:35.000 Okay, this is just to take the statistical case.

00:13:37.000 But again, there is no moral case for confusing your child.

00:13:39.000 Sex differences are important.

00:13:41.000 Reinforcing sex differences is important, because if you don't want your child to suffer from tremendous cognitive dissonance, then the kid at least has to know about the standard, and then later they can choose whether or not they want to engage in the standard. 0.97
