00:00:00.000 Folks, it's a Tuesday, and I am so excited about today's show.
00:00:03.000 We have so much to get to.
00:00:04.000 Apparently, I am the star of the new Transparent trailer.
00:00:06.000 We will get to that.
00:00:08.000 Plus, President Obama makes more of an ass of himself than yesterday.
00:00:13.000 As I say, every new day is like a bright new sunrise of stupidity for President Obama.
00:00:16.000 He's in Paris, and he says more dumb things, and a great, fantastic, fabulous story about Leonardo DiCaprio.
00:00:24.000 I can't wait to get to it.
00:00:24.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:25.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:26.000 You tend to demonize people because they don't care about your feelings?
00:00:32.000 Okay, so I was originally going to save the Leonardo DiCaprio story for later in the show, but I just can't, I can't help myself.
00:00:38.000 It's just too great a story.
00:00:40.000 So Leonardo DiCaprio is the star of this new film called The Revenant.
00:00:44.000 Okay, The Revenant is made by, the director's name is Alejandro Inarritu.
00:00:49.000 He's the guy who won Best Director last year for Birdman, which is a highly, highly overrated film.
00:00:54.000 Did any of you guys see it?
00:00:56.000 Yeah, it is not a good movie.
00:00:57.000 What did you think?
00:00:58.000 You were into it?
00:00:59.000 Okay, Mathis seems like he likes it.
00:01:00.000 I was not into it.
00:01:01.000 I thought that the setup was okay.
00:01:04.000 There were some cute directorial tricks, but it doesn't hold together as a film.
00:01:09.000 It's not a great movie by any means.
00:01:11.000 Here is the preview for Iñárritu's new film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, and then I'll tell you why this is now relevant and in the news.
00:01:43.000 And the safe thing to do is track a new course back up online.
00:01:46.000 Then what we gonna do?
00:01:47.000 Sit out there like a bunch of goddamn ducks?
00:01:49.000 You and your half-breed son get to walk on out?
00:01:52.000 I'm talking to you.
00:02:02.000 Okay, pause it right there.
00:02:03.000 All right, so that's as far as we need to go in this preview.
00:02:06.000 So basically, it's Leonardo DiCaprio wandering around in the wilderness and trying to survive and all this sort of stuff, and it's going to be man versus nature.
00:02:15.000 Okay, there's one problem.
00:02:16.000 In that particular, you can't see if you're not subscribing, which again, folks, this is why you should subscribe, but you can see at the very end there, there is a bear charging at Leonardo DiCaprio through the woods.
00:02:26.000 Well, apparently that scene ends in odd fashion, okay?
00:02:30.000 This is according to Drudge Report today.
00:02:32.000 The new movie, Revenant, features a shocking scene of a wild bear raping Leonardo DiCaprio.
00:02:38.000 The explicit moment from Oscar-winning director Alejandro Henarito has caused maximum controversy in early screenings.
00:02:43.000 Some in the audience escaped to the exits when the wolf of Wall Street met the grizzly of Yellowstone.
00:02:48.000 The story of rural survivalism and revenge reaches new violent levels for a mainstream film.
00:02:52.000 The bear flips Leo over and thrusts and thrusts during the explicit mauling.
00:02:57.000 He is raped twice in the film by the bear.
00:03:01.000 He is raped twice in a film by the bear.
00:03:03.000 Okay, so a couple of things are worth noting here.
00:03:06.000 Number one, we should never mock bear rape.
00:03:09.000 We never make light of bear rape.
00:03:11.000 There's a bear rape culture that has now been created, and we need to take it very seriously.
00:03:16.000 I very much look forward to Rolling Stone's expose on bear fraternities, and all sexual assault victims from bears must be believed, according to Hillary Clinton.
00:03:26.000 So we have to take this extremely seriously.
00:03:28.000 Second, these people in Hollywood will pretty much do anything to get an Oscar.
00:03:32.000 I mean, Leonardo DiCaprio is so desperate for an Oscar at this point that he's willing to bend over and take it from a bear.
00:03:38.000 I mean, it's a little bit over the top.
00:03:41.000 And finally, I want to link this in with a story that we did yesterday, mainly because it's hilarious.
00:03:46.000 So yesterday, as you recall, at the very end of the show, I talked about things that I hate.
00:03:50.000 And I talked about this idiotic photo shoot that was done by Amy Schumer for this calendar.
00:03:56.000 And Annie Leibovitz was the photographer.
00:03:59.000 And Amy Schumer tweeted out this.
00:04:01.000 This was Amy Schumer's tweet, right?
00:04:03.000 And it's a picture of her naked and from the waist up and sitting there holding a cup of coffee, looking rather pissed at the world like an overused prostitute.
00:04:13.000 And she tweeted out, quote, beautiful, gross, strong, thin, fat, pretty, ugly, sexy, disgusting, flawless woman.
00:04:20.000 Thank you, Annie Leibovitz, because women are all of these things, and any woman can be any of these things to any person, even though we actually, there is such a thing as actual human sexuality, and some people are more attractive than others, and some people are less attractive than others.
00:04:32.000 Well, I thought that, first of all, worth noting, after I mocked her for this, she blocked me on Twitter.
00:04:38.000 So, Amy Schumer has now blocked me on Twitter, which just goes to show you that when you're really a very empowered, and you feel like a very self-confident, empowered woman, what you do is you pose topless,
00:04:48.000 In order to show how confident you are, and then as soon as somebody makes fun of you, you block them.
00:04:53.000 That's really the mark of self-confidence, I think.
00:04:55.000 But I thought that it is just as important to point out that before we label all bears, you know, before we say that all bears are rapists or involved in a rape culture, bears can be perceived in a variety of ways.
00:05:07.000 So here's what I tweeted today about the bear.
00:05:16.000 Thank you, Annie Leibovitz.
00:05:17.000 Thank you.
00:05:19.000 For those who can't see, it's exactly Amy Schumer's tweet, except it's a picture of a bear that looks like it's about to dig into Leonardo DiCaprio.
00:05:26.000 So, that is the story out of Hollywood, and just goes to show you how far they've gone off the beaten track.
00:05:31.000 Do they think this is going to make lots of money at the box office?
00:05:34.000 The gap between what the critics want to see—also, what critic wants to see a bear rape somebody?
00:05:39.000 I mean, as far as I'm aware, I thought that that was just a joke, right?
00:05:42.000 I mean, wasn't there this famous joke about a bear raping a guy in the woods, and that was the big joke?
00:05:47.000 But now it's not even a joke, now it's a movie!
00:05:48.000 So basically, every knock-knock joke, or every crappy joke that you ever heard when you were in third grade, or every dirty joke from sixth grade, they're now making into a full-length feature film.
00:05:57.000 We're good to go.
00:06:19.000 For convincing me not to do things that I like because, let's face it, no one wants to hear about things that I like.
00:06:24.000 People just want to hear about things that I despise.
00:06:25.000 So, speaking of things that I despise, President Obama was in Paris today, and he got on a plane and then he left.
00:06:32.000 He actually did not use his magical fairy wings to take off from Paris, although he has them because he lives in fantasy world, fantasy land.
00:06:39.000 President Obama was in Paris.
00:06:41.000 And while he was in Paris, he was asked about the Planned Parenthood shootings.
00:06:43.000 He did a press conference, and he was asked about the Planned Parenthood shootings.
00:06:47.000 And here is what President Obama said about the Planned Parenthood shootings.
00:06:50.000 Remember, this is in Paris, where two weeks ago, 130 people were shot to death in a theater.
00:06:56.000 With respect to Planned Parenthood, obviously, my heart goes out to the families of those impacted.
00:07:06.000 I mean,
00:07:10.000 Nancy, I say this every time we've got one of these mass shootings.
00:07:16.000 This just doesn't happen in other countries.
00:07:18.000 Okay, can you pause it right there for one second?
00:07:20.000 This just doesn't happen in other countries.
00:07:22.000 Now, let's just look at this for a second.
00:07:23.000 You see the screen, folks?
00:07:24.000 Up in that corner, it says something called Paris.
00:07:26.000 There's a word, it says Paris.
00:07:28.000 And then the chyron says, President Obama holds news conference in Paris.
00:07:32.000 And let's remember, folks, two weeks ago, 130 people were shot to death in a theater in Paris.
00:07:38.000 In January, 12 people were shot to death at Charlie Hebdo in a kosher supermarket in Paris.
00:07:42.000 But don't worry, mass shootings never happen anywhere else.
00:07:45.000 They only happen in the United States.
00:07:47.000 Obama lives in this fantasy land of his own creation, and it truly is incredible.
00:07:52.000 It's worth pointing out here, the reason why the left is constantly focusing in on mass shootings, right?
00:07:57.000 Why are they constantly saying, you know, mass shootings don't happen anywhere else in the world?
00:08:00.000 The reason that they say this
00:08:02.000 is because the only evidence that gun control works at all, gun seizures work at all, is because quote-unquote mass shootings, shootings in which there are 3 or 4 or 5 or 10 or 15 people killed, those shootings seem to go down in countries where there is mass gun confiscation.
00:08:15.000 But overall, gun violence doesn't go down.
00:08:17.000 In fact, it goes down faster in the United States, where the gun ownership rate has been rising steadily over the last decade and a half in the United States.
00:08:24.000 In Australia, they did a mass gun seizure after a massacre in the 90s, and the crime rate basically went up.
00:08:31.000 Or if it declined, it didn't decline nearly as fast as it did in the United States, but the mass shooting rate went way down.
00:08:37.000 And the same thing happened in Britain.
00:08:39.000 The mass shooting rate went way down, but the gun violence rate actually rose pretty significantly between 1999 and 2009 after they did a mass handgun ban.
00:08:47.000 We're good.
00:09:03.000 As in Europe, as you've seen in Charlie Hebdo and now in that Bataclan club, when it comes to mass shootings, more people die in the mass shootings in Europe, on average, than die in the mass shootings in the United States, because in the United States, there are usually a bunch of people with guns who show up and put down the mass shooter.
00:09:19.000 So the left always cherry-picks its statistics.
00:09:21.000 That's worth pointing out.
00:09:22.000 Now, President Obama continues, and then he gets to his real point, which is that everybody should basically stop making fun of or mentioning the evils of Planned Parenthood.
00:09:30.000 Here's the president.
00:09:34.000 You know, we are rightly determined to prevent terrorist attacks wherever they occur, whether in the United States or with friends and allies like France.
00:09:53.000 And we devote enormous resources, and properly so,
00:09:58.000 to rooting out networks and debilitating organizations like ISIL.
00:10:06.000 Okay, I think that it's worth pointing out here.
00:10:08.000 When President Obama makes it—we'll get to the Planned Parenthood stuff in a second.
00:10:10.000 When President Obama makes the comparison between the Paris terrorist attacks and the Planned Parenthood shootings, what he's really doing is he's minimizing what happened in Paris.
00:10:20.000 Because what happened in Colorado was a guy who is plainly a nut by every available metric.
00:10:25.000 The guy actually has a mental issue, okay?
00:10:26.000 This is not just he's a nut because we disagree.
00:10:28.000 He's an actual nut.
00:10:29.000 This guy actually has crazy.
00:10:32.000 He's a person with a serious mental disability.
00:10:34.000 I mean, this guy has a problem.
00:10:36.000 And comparing that to an organized terror attack in Paris is a way of downplaying what happened in Paris and pretending that it wasn't organized, it had nothing to do with ideology, it had nothing to do with philosophy.
00:10:45.000 It's all just the same.
00:10:46.000 Terror is terror is terror.
00:10:48.000 When Bush said we were fighting a war on terror, everybody knew that that was code for Islamic terror.
00:10:53.000 When Obama says we're fighting a war on terror, what he really means is that terrorism, Islamic terrorism, doesn't exist.
00:10:58.000 Terrorism is just a tactic.
00:10:59.000 He actually
00:11:00.000 Take seriously the idiotic distinction that President Bush originally pushed and never even took seriously himself.
00:11:09.000 President Obama went on to defend Planned Parenthood.
00:11:12.000 And this is the real point.
00:11:13.000 The left is now using the Planned Parenthood shooting attack as an excuse for saying that no one should ever talk about pro-life things ever, ever, ever again.
00:11:21.000 And we're going to see a whole slew of Democrats say this in a row.
00:11:24.000 Here's President Obama saying, we need to stop demonizing Planned Parenthood in the wake of the Planned Parenthood shootings.
00:11:31.000 And with respect to Planned Parenthood, I think it's clear.
00:11:36.000 I've said it before.
00:11:38.000 They provide health services to women all across the country, have for generations.
00:11:43.000 In many cases, it's the only organization that provides health services to impoverished women.
00:11:52.000 I think it's fair to have a legitimate, honest debate about abortion.
00:11:57.000 I don't think that's something that
00:12:00.000 Uh, is beyond the pale of our political discussion.
00:12:03.000 It's a serious, legitimate issue.
00:12:06.000 How we talk about it, making sure that we're talking about it factually, accurately, uh, and not demonizing organizations like Planned Parenthood, I think is important.
00:12:20.000 Okay, you don't have to demonize Planned Parenthood because they are basically moral demons.
00:12:24.000 Okay?
00:12:24.000 People who abort 300,000 children a year, I don't have to demonize them.
00:12:28.000 They kill 300,000 unborn children a year.
00:12:31.000 Okay?
00:12:31.000 End of story.
00:12:32.000 There's no nec- I don't have to demonize them.
00:12:34.000 We showed the video yesterday.
00:12:35.000 We don't have to show it again.
00:12:36.000 We showed video yesterday of them picking through baby body parts.
00:12:39.000 Okay?
00:12:40.000 This is what they do.
00:12:41.000 That's not demonization.
00:12:42.000 That's a factual representation of what they do.
00:12:45.000 But this is the common pattern you're going to hear now, is that a nut—and this is the thing about the left that really is so frustrating—anytime there is an outlier, they use it as an example of a rule that doesn't exist.
00:12:57.000 Drew's show yesterday, Andrew Klavan's show yesterday, and Drew has a basic rule, which I think is correct, that for the left media, when there's an outlier that proves their narrative, it becomes part of a broader trend, but when there is a situation that disproves their narrative, then it becomes an outlier.
00:13:12.000 And that's essentially what they're doing here.
00:13:14.000 You have a guy who shot up a Planned Parenthood, and he didn't even kill anybody at the Planned Parenthood.
00:13:18.000 He killed all of the cops who were defending the people at the Planned Parenthood from him.
00:13:23.000 And suddenly, we all have to shut up about pro-life.
00:13:26.000 We just have to shut up about, we have to stop demonizing the other.
00:13:28.000 Wendy Davis, who has spent just
00:13:32.000 An enormous amount of times humanizing everyone who is pro-life.
00:13:34.000 I mean, this is the lady who was famously termed abortion Barbie by Eric Erickson because she got up there in her pink jumpsuit and her pantsuit, her skirt suit and her pink shoes and she stood there for 13 hours and jabbered about late-term abortion and why it's so vital.
00:13:49.000 Wendy Davis said yesterday,
00:13:50.000 That it's dangerous for GOP candidates even to talk about Planned Parenthood.
00:13:54.000 We must never talk about Planned Parenthood again.
00:13:56.000 After all, they're just healthcare providers.
00:13:58.000 And when President Obama, by the way, says that poor people, this is the only healthcare that they have, that's just a lie.
00:14:03.000 There's something we have in this country.
00:14:04.000 It's called Medicaid.
00:14:06.000 Everybody who's poor is on it, basically.
00:14:08.000 And we also have rules in this country that if you walk into an emergency room, it is against the law for the emergency room to refuse you service.
00:14:14.000 So the idea that Planned Parenthood is the only place that poor women are going is just not true.
00:14:19.000 Here's Wendy Davis doing the same routine, however, which is, stop demonizing Planned Parenthood.
00:14:24.000 Stop it.
00:14:24.000 Somebody tried to shoot them up.
00:14:25.000 Stop demonizing Planned Parenthood.
00:14:28.000 But we do know that when he was taken into custody, he talked about dead baby parts.
00:14:35.000 This is part, obviously, of a political rhetoric, a very dangerous political rhetoric, that we've been hearing from most candidates on the Republican presidential primary side.
00:14:46.000 And I think it is fueling this kind of behavior that we saw in this individual last week.
00:14:54.000 Okay, so basically the nut has it.
00:14:56.000 As soon as the nut does something, stop talking about dead baby parts.
00:14:59.000 Well, I'm not going to stop talking about it if it's true.
00:15:02.000 And it's not just dead baby parts, it's murdered baby parts.
00:15:04.000 I mean, they're not grave robbing.
00:15:07.000 I mean, they're actually creating the corpses that they then dissect and use for research.
00:15:11.000 I mean, this is not, again,
00:15:13.000 When you say that it's dangerous to talk about facts, this is how you end up in fascist land, okay?
00:15:16.000 Fascist land is where it's so dangerous to talk about the facts we stop you from doing it.
00:15:20.000 Cecile Richards is the head of Planned Parenthood.
00:15:22.000 She said the same thing.
00:15:23.000 She said that you're demonizing women when you talk about them killing their unborn children.
00:15:27.000 That's demonizing women.
00:15:28.000 Again, I don't have to demonize anybody, okay?
00:15:32.000 I can simply say this.
00:15:35.000 A woman murdering her own child in her womb is a bad thing.
00:15:40.000 It's an evil thing.
00:15:41.000 It is an evil thing to murder your own child in the womb.
00:15:45.000 You don't get to snuff out human life outside the womb, you don't get to do it inside the womb, and just because it's in your uterus doesn't mean that you magically have control over another human being.
00:15:53.000 And that is not demonizing, that is just fact.
00:15:57.000 But again, for the left, anything the right says is always demonizing.
00:15:59.000 It's always demonizing.
00:16:00.000 So here's Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood saying exactly that.
00:16:04.000 And I do think it's time for people in this country, elected officials, leaders, people who want to be President of the United States, to really think carefully about the way they talk about health care providers in this country, the way they demonize women and the decisions they make about their pregnancies.
00:16:22.000 I think it's time for everyone to take stock of that because I do believe words have consequences.
00:16:25.000 Yeah, I agree.
00:16:26.000 Words have consequences.
00:16:27.000 I also think that there are consequences to talking about the killing of the unborn as healthcare provision, for example.
00:16:33.000 I think that there's an actual consequence to that, which is that Americans don't understand what it is that people like Cecile Richards do.
00:16:40.000 When Cecile Richards and her doctors say they're healthcare providers, no, you're not going in there for your normal checkup.
00:16:45.000 Okay, you're going in there as a typical matter for an abortion.
00:16:48.000 And when they say that 3% of the services that they provide are for abortions, that's a lie.
00:16:53.000 Because that's the equivalent, if you go in there and they give you a condom and an abortion, they say 50% of the services that we just provided you are abortion services.
00:17:01.000 Okay, 97% of their budget goes toward abortion.
00:17:04.000 The vast, vast, vast majority of their budget goes towards abortion.
00:17:07.000 So, but the real agenda here, of course, is to shut down debate.
00:17:10.000 Senator Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader, he said today that Republicans have to stop creating a frenzy of hate and anger that contributed to the shooting in Colorado.
00:17:19.000 And naturally, he said we have to stop investigating Planned Parenthood.
00:17:22.000 We have to stop investigating them.
00:17:24.000 He said it's proven disastrous to our country.
00:17:26.000 We have a responsibility as leaders to think very hard about what we say and do.
00:17:31.000 And Senator Barbara Boxer, the stupidest woman in the history of American politics, said we should not and cannot continue this politically motivated committee targeting Planned Parenthood, which is already costing taxpayers and helping to create a dangerous climate for legal health care in America.
00:17:43.000 What's hilarious about the cost to taxpayers is they're saying it costs a couple million bucks to do these investigations.
00:17:49.000 We're sending hundreds of millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, right?
00:17:52.000 If the investigation comes to the conclusion it should, which is that Planned Parenthood has involved itself in apparent and alleged criminal activity, if that's where they end up, then we'll save ourselves several hundred million dollars.
00:18:02.000 We should save ourselves that money anyway, just as a political matter.
00:18:05.000 But this is, again, how the left shuts down all debate, and it really is quite gross.
00:18:10.000 Ted Cruz has it exactly right.
00:18:12.000 Ted Cruz, who is gaining in the polls right now, he's doing much better.
00:18:15.000 Ben Carson has been falling.
00:18:16.000 Ted Cruz has been picking up his support.
00:18:18.000 Ted Cruz said,
00:18:19.000 I think the media, just like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, are trying to politicize this tragic shooting.
00:18:34.000 This man was a deranged, homicidal killer.
00:18:38.000 And you and I are both unapologetically pro-life, and that means defending every human life.
00:18:45.000 Including the unborn, but also including the police officer and the civilians who lost their lives.
00:18:51.000 And this murder was fundamentally wrong, and the efforts of the media to transform it into their pro-abortion propaganda is as transparent as it is despicable.
00:19:04.000 That, of course, is exactly right on the money from Senator Cruz, and that's why he's gaining in the polls, because that is exactly right.
00:19:09.000 That is exactly right.
00:19:10.000 So, you know, Planned Parenthood did benefit from organ harvesting.
00:19:14.000 They do abort babies, and talking about it does not become something that goes by the wayside.
00:19:20.000 This whole logic is so absurd on every level.
00:19:22.000 You take, for example, let's go all the way back in history.
00:19:24.000 Go back to John Brown.
00:19:26.000 People don't remember who John Brown was.
00:19:27.000 John Brown was an abolitionist, and he was an abolitionist terrorist, right?
00:19:31.000 John Brown was a guy who fought in bloody Kansas.
00:19:34.000 Before the Civil War, there was an attempt to determine whether Kansas was going to vote itself a slave state or a free state.
00:19:41.000 They had the ability to vote themselves a slave state or a free state.
00:19:44.000 So what happened is that the abolitionists rushed to Kansas,
00:19:47.000 In order to populate the state for this vote as to whether Kansas Territory was going to become a free state or a slave state.
00:19:54.000 So John Brown and all of his sons, he had a bunch of sons, they went over to Kansas and they got involved in what was called Bleeding Kansas.
00:20:00.000 And Bleeding Kansas was basically, there was outright battle in the streets between Southerners and Northerners.
00:20:05.000 It was kind of a mini civil war over what Kansas was going to be.
00:20:08.000 Well, after that happened, John Brown set up basically an abolitionist
00:20:13.000 little farmstead in New York State, and he hosted freed slaves and escaped slaves there.
00:20:19.000 He was a real abolitionist.
00:20:21.000 In 1859, John Brown goes down to Harpers Ferry, Virginia, with a bunch of his sons, as well as some former slaves, escaped slaves, including one escaped slave who was going back down to look for his wife.
00:20:31.000 And they go into Harpers Ferry, Virginia, and they proceed to go house to house to all the slave owners, and shoot the slave owners.
00:20:37.000 Like, kill slave owners, try to take some of them prisoner,
00:20:40.000 And eventually, they're cornered in Harper's Ferry in a munitions factory, in an arms factory.
00:20:46.000 And one by one, he sends his sons out to try and escape.
00:20:49.000 And one by one, they're shot down.
00:20:50.000 And pretty much everybody is killed, except for John Brown, who is captured.
00:20:54.000 He's captured.
00:20:55.000 And there are a bunch of people who are killed in this whole routine.
00:20:59.000 And ironically, the Union general who is there to shut this whole thing down is Robert E. Lee, right?
00:21:04.000 Robert E. Lee, who eventually becomes the Confederate general in charge.
00:21:07.000 He is there on behalf of the Union shutting down
00:21:11.000 Well, John Brown at the time was a major controversy, and it happened right in the middle of the 1860 election, right?
00:21:16.000 That election was already underway.
00:21:18.000 And so all of the Republican candidates who are abolitionists said, John Brown doesn't represent us.
00:21:22.000 John Brown is a kook.
00:21:24.000 John Brown is a nut.
00:21:25.000 He went too far.
00:21:26.000 Nobody is saying that you should go around murdering slave owners, right?
00:21:29.000 All of this is bad.
00:21:29.000 You just shouldn't do it.
00:21:31.000 And what eventually happened is that the South was so upset by John Brown that they figured the abolitionists were all on John Brown's side really secretly, and they proceeded to secede.
00:21:40.000 John Brown's actions actually precipitated secession, because they figured the Republicans were lying.
00:21:45.000 If Abraham Lincoln gets into power, he's going to do the same things John Brown wanted to do.
00:21:48.000 We're leaving.
00:21:49.000 And they end up seceding as soon as Abraham Lincoln is elected, in large part because of John Brown.
00:21:54.000 Now, what's interesting is how the image of John Brown ends up changing
00:21:57.000 Because of the secession of the South.
00:21:59.000 He goes from somebody who's universally perceived as a terrorist to somebody who's now perceived by people like Frederick Douglass as a hero.
00:22:05.000 Frederick Douglass said, you know, I only had the courage to spend my life fighting slavery.
00:22:08.000 He had the courage to lay down his life fighting slavery.
00:22:11.000 You have people like Henry David Thoreau who are big fans of John Brown.
00:22:15.000 In fact, the troops, you know, everyone knows the Battle Hymn of the Republic, right?
00:22:21.000 If you don't, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da
00:22:47.000 Right, that this sort of activity, even if—this guy happens to be a complete nut, but even if he'd been driven by actual anti-abortion feelings, he was an ardent anti-abortion guy, and he went and he killed an abortion doctor.
00:22:58.000 We in the United States know that this is a bad thing, that you don't kill people.
00:23:01.000 We have a democratic process, and we're working on correcting all of this.
00:23:05.000 But what's amazing for the left is that the left would actually make the argument.
00:23:08.000 They would make the argument using the same logic that they've been using.
00:23:12.000 They would make the argument that because John Brown did something quite terrible by going and killing a bunch of slaveholders, slaveowners, because John Brown did that, abolitionists should shut up.
00:23:20.000 Abolitionism is bad, because if you listen to abolitionist rhetoric, they talk about how slaveowners are cruel.
00:23:27.000 I mean, if you read Uncle Tom's Cabin, Simon Legree is a cruel guy.
00:23:32.000 If you look at any of the rhetoric from the abolitionists, they talked about how the slaveowners were doing great evil.
00:23:37.000 They were doing great harm in violation of God's law.
00:23:40.000 And so presumably the same people saying all the pro-life people should shut up today would have said to all the abolitionists then, shut up, John Brown just did something bad, that means you all have to be quiet now.
00:23:50.000 And the moral and logical bankruptcy of this argument is absolutely clear.
00:23:55.000 Okay, so we're going to do a particularly long segment of things that I hate now.
00:24:00.000 Because this is really worthy of things that I hate.
00:24:03.000 Hollywood, let me start off, I always make a brief reference to something that I like so you know that I don't hate everything that is possible to hate in the world.
00:24:10.000 Something that I like.
00:24:11.000 When I was growing up, my dad was a big fan of the series of novels called the Chip Hilton books.
00:24:15.000 They were written by a guy named Claire B. Claire B was, I believe, the basketball coach at City University of New York.
00:24:21.000 And for young boys growing up, there's a great series, like 21 books, and it's all about just being a class act and acting with sportsmanship.
00:24:28.000 If you can find the original version, they brought it out again, but they kind of
00:24:32.000 It was bought by a Christian company.
00:24:33.000 The titles were bought by a Christian company, and so they layered a lot of Christianity into it, which is fine, but it's not necessary.
00:24:39.000 I read them when it didn't have them.
00:24:41.000 Either way, I'm sure it's fine.
00:24:42.000 For me, I prefer the original because that's the original.
00:24:44.000 I like original writing, and it really is great.
00:24:47.000 So if you're looking for, you have a seven, eight-year-old boy, and you're looking for him to kind of grow up with a sturdy sense of morality, the Chip Hilton series is great.
00:24:56.000 Okay, now, two things that I hate.
00:24:58.000 All right, so Hollywood
00:25:00.000 is now pushing, as hard as they possibly can, transgenderism.
00:25:04.000 I mean, they are pushing it up the wazoo.
00:25:06.000 It is not going to stop.
00:25:08.000 The new version of transgenderism that they're pushing is at the Oscars.
00:25:13.000 So Hollywood, there are a couple of trailers that we need to watch here.
00:25:16.000 Hollywood pushing transgender notions.
00:25:19.000 The notion that men are women and women are men, and it's all just a bunch of random assignments by society, that gender is a complete social construct, and all sorts of stupid BS like this.
00:25:29.000 The one that's getting all the acclaim right now is a movie called The Danish Girl.
00:25:31.000 The Danish Girl is based on a novel that came out in 2000, and it's about this Danish guy, a Danish dude, right, who is married, and his wife is an artist.
00:25:40.000 And one day she decides that she is going to photograph somebody, and she needs somebody to be photographed wearing ladies' stockings.
00:25:47.000 And so she goes to her husband and she's like, well, you put on the lady's stockings and I'm going to photograph you, which is weird enough that he's like, yeah, sounds awesome.
00:25:53.000 So he puts on the lady's stockings in real life and he decides that this just tickles his fancy.
00:25:57.000 And this leads to him eventually realizing that on the inside, he is a woman.
00:26:02.000 Now, in real life, this thing doesn't end well, right?
00:26:04.000 In real life, what happens, this guy gets a couple of sex change surgeries, and at the ripe old age of 32, he has his final sex change surgery to excise his willy and to give himself a hoo-hoo, and once all this happens, he promptly dies three months later, presumably from infection or trauma from the surgery.
00:26:23.000 None of that.
00:26:23.000 I mean, I don't know if that's in the movie because I haven't seen the movie yet, but Hollywood is glorifying all of this, just showing you that when it comes to men and women, men and women are absolutely the same.
00:26:32.000 Transgenderism is a virtue.
00:26:34.000 It's not just something that exists out there.
00:26:35.000 It's not just a mental disorder, which it is.
00:26:37.000 It's called gender dysphoria.
00:26:39.000 It's not just a mental disorder.
00:26:40.000 It's actually a virtue, and these are people who are standing up to the grave injustices done by society in forcing you to pick a box, male or female.
00:26:48.000 Here is a preview of the Danish girl.
00:26:54.000 The first time we met, she propositioned me.
00:26:57.000 She seemed so sure.
00:26:59.000 I was sure.
00:27:00.000 It was so charming and mysterious.
00:27:04.000 Is there something you'd like to tell me?
00:27:07.000 Is there something you'd like to know?
00:27:09.000 I'm your wife.
00:27:10.000 I know everything.
00:27:12.000 Could you help me with something?
00:27:17.000 You will not tell anyone about this.
00:27:27.000 Hello there.
00:27:29.000 We're going to call you Lily.
00:27:31.000 I want to sketch you.
00:27:36.000 Lily.
00:27:38.000 We should go out tonight.
00:27:41.000 Give them something different.
00:27:43.000 Lily.
00:27:45.000 You're exquisite.
00:27:50.000 You're different from most girls.
00:27:51.000 I feel I'd need to ask your permission before I kissed you.
00:28:01.000 Exactly what happened last night.
00:28:04.000 There was a moment when I wasn't me.
00:28:06.000 There was a moment when I was just...
00:28:11.000 Okay, this looks terrible.
00:28:12.000 So I'm very much looking forward to never seeing this film.
00:28:16.000 And here's the thing about all of this.
00:28:18.000 First of all, even from this preview, you can see that basically his wife is preying on his mental disorder, right?
00:28:25.000 I mean, just from the preview, you can see that his wife is doing that, right?
00:28:27.000 He's falling in love with this, and she's like, yeah, let's go out as girlfriends.
00:28:30.000 This is just a fun thing to do.
00:28:32.000 Okay, now no normal guy, no normally ordered mentally stable guy says to his wife, yeah, you know, that sounds like a great idea.
00:28:39.000 Let's go out, you and me as girlfriends.
00:28:41.000 Right, it just doesn't happen that way because it turns out, and again, folks, it's something called science.
00:28:46.000 Okay, Eddie Redmayne is a dude.
00:28:48.000 There's actually a lot of, there's a fair bit of evidence that the guy who's being profiled here, the one who ended up getting a gender transition, that he was actually intersex, that he was actually born with genetics
00:29:00.000 I'm good.
00:29:16.000 Hollywood is taking this even further in another movie called Tangerine.
00:29:19.000 Tangerine is this movie that was shot for no budget at all on iPhones, and it features two transgender women, which is to say dudes pretending to be women, and now the Academy is saying that transgender women will now be nominated in the Best Actress and the Best Supporting Actress category.
00:29:34.000 So here we go.
00:29:35.000 Tangerine.
00:29:38.000 Hey, Alexandra, come here.
00:29:40.000 Listen, have you seen Cindy?
00:29:42.000 Cinderella.
00:29:43.000 Looks like someone has a crutch.
00:29:45.000 Cindy's back on the block?
00:29:46.000 Oh yeah, she's back.
00:29:48.000 She's back and she's going hard.
00:29:51.000 Merry Christmas, girl.
00:29:54.000 I got some good news to tell you about me and Chester.
00:29:56.000 I know what it is!
00:29:57.000 You're breaking up with him.
00:29:58.000 Thank God!
00:29:59.000 I'm not gonna be cheating on you like that.
00:30:01.000 Wait, wait, wait.
00:30:02.000 What?
00:30:04.000 You didn't know?
00:30:06.000 Okay, so we can pause it there because I can't take any more of this.
00:30:08.000 This is the Citizen Kane of iPhone-shot transgender movies.
00:30:13.000 And of course, this means that, I mean, this is hitting every checkbox it's possible to hit in the minority checklist, right?
00:30:17.000 So you've got black transgender woman.
00:30:19.000 This is like Hollywood's wet dream here.
00:30:22.000 So here's Hollywood, you know, making all of these films and rewarding themselves for these films which no one will ever see.
00:30:27.000 No one is going to see this stuff outside of... apparently the entire crowd for The Danish Girl, because it's out already, apparently the entire crowd for The Danish Girl is women above the age of 50.
00:30:37.000 Like, that's the entire crowd.
00:30:38.000 Which makes perfect sense, because no dude wants to see that movie.
00:30:41.000 No couple wants to see that movie.
00:30:43.000 A bunch of sad single ladies who are above the age of 50 want to see that movie to assure themselves that it really is just... that romance is romance and it can happen to anybody, including a dude who thinks he's a lady.
00:30:55.000 To put the final capper on it, here's the preview for this widely heralded show from Amazon called Transparent.
00:31:02.000 If you've seen any of the advertising around Los Angeles, it's actually pretty insulting, a lot of the advertising, because naturally they have to tie in Judaism to transgenderism for some odd reason.
00:31:12.000 So they put up billboards saying, like, would your rabbi approve?
00:31:16.000 And the answer is, not if you have a real rabbi, he wouldn't, but in any case,
00:31:20.000 Transparent has this preview out, and I wasn't even aware of this until we pulled the preview, but apparently I play a starring role.
00:31:26.000 I'm the photographer in this particular preview, as you will see.
00:31:30.000 Hey, Beppermans!
00:31:33.000 Come on, if you've got kids, please, I ask you to keep an eye on them.
00:31:38.000 Oh, no, no, I need my, uh... I need my ex-wives!
00:31:43.000 I need, uh...
00:31:46.000 What is he saying?
00:31:47.000 He says chin up a little bit.
00:31:49.000 But you look beautiful.
00:31:49.000 Oh, that's good.
00:31:50.000 Just a little bit down.
00:31:53.000 Reggie, you want my head up or you want my head down?
00:31:57.000 I think chin up for you, sir.
00:32:00.000 That's a head.
00:32:01.000 I'm sorry.
00:32:02.000 Chin up, miss.
00:32:04.000 Chin up.
00:32:06.000 Did he call me, sir?
00:32:06.000 Yes.
00:32:07.000 We're done.
00:32:08.000 We're done.
00:32:08.000 We're done.
00:32:09.000 We're done.
00:32:14.000 So that actually happened to me in real life, except it ended with a violent confrontation initiated by the transgender woman who is actually a very butch dude.
00:32:22.000 But in any case, what's amazing about all of this is why is Hollywood all on the same page?
00:32:27.000 Why is the left all on the same page over this thing?
00:32:29.000 I mean, you really have to ask yourself, what is this sudden quest
00:32:34.000 To just get rid of all gender, right?
00:32:37.000 And the answer is the left has to have constant change.
00:32:39.000 They have to have constant change.
00:32:41.000 And in their quest for equality, there can never be an endpoint until we are all genderless
00:32:46.000 Faceless widget.
00:32:47.000 Right?
00:32:47.000 In order for the left to achieve its goal of outcome equality for everyone, there can't be any distinctions between anyone.
00:32:54.000 All distinctions must be created by this evil capitalist system.
00:32:57.000 And so we have to do away with the evil capitalist system, as well as all of these various distinctions that are all arbitrary and made up.
00:33:04.000 Right?
00:33:04.000 So it's just arbitrary and made up.
00:33:05.000 The Danish girl could be a Danish boy, could be a Danish girl, could be a... It doesn't matter.
00:33:09.000 Right?
00:33:09.000 In transparent.
00:33:10.000 And if you say to somebody that subjectively speaking, you may think that you're a woman, but you're actually a man,
00:33:17.000 Or, about Amy Schumer, you may think subjectively you're beautiful, but people don't necessarily think so?
00:33:22.000 Then you're the bad guy.
00:33:23.000 You're the problem, because you have now retreated to the realm of objectivity, and objectivity means distinctions.
00:33:29.000 Objectivity, the idea of a real reality that exists out there, that you and I can both look at.
00:33:35.000 We can both look at the sky and see that it's blue.
00:33:37.000 This creates distinctions, because if the sky is blue, that means that it's not green.
00:33:41.000 Right?
00:33:42.000 And if that man is a man and not a woman, that means that he's a man and not a woman, and that means that he may have different qualities from a woman.
00:33:48.000 And now it's infected the scientific community.
00:33:50.000 There's an article out today that's just incredible.
00:33:52.000 There's a study supposedly suggesting, it's from the University of Bern in Switzerland, saying that you can't categorize human brains as male or female.
00:34:01.000 Why?
00:34:01.000 Because it turns out that there are a bunch of different measures of the human brain, and there's variation between these measures between men and women, and some men cross over into female areas on certain aspects, but there are some females that cross over to male aspects on other areas.
00:34:14.000 There's only one problem.
00:34:16.000 There's only one problem.
00:34:17.000 The study itself acknowledges, acknowledges that if you looked, just, you had two bodies in front of you, and all you had was just the top of their skull.
00:34:24.000 You didn't have anything else.
00:34:25.000 You had the two brains.
00:34:26.000 If you looked at the male brain and you looked at the female brain, you could immediately tell whether it's a male brain or a female brain.
00:34:31.000 In other words, they recognize that there are differences between men and women, but what they say is there are such variations within men and within women, and there's some crossover in certain aspects, that means men and women no longer exist.
00:34:42.000 The left uses—the left has never heard of this idea that the
00:34:49.000 The outlier proves the rule, right?
00:34:52.000 That the rarity proves the rule, right?
00:34:55.000 If there's a guy who acts more like a woman, that doesn't prove there's no such thing as man and woman.
00:35:00.000 It proves there is man and woman, and this guy is an outlier.
00:35:02.000 They've never heard of this.
00:35:03.000 The exception, thank you.
00:35:04.000 The exception proves the rule.
00:35:06.000 They've never heard of this.
00:35:06.000 Instead, the exception proves there are no rules.
00:35:09.000 This is why the left can't take basic argument.
00:35:11.000 Anytime you say anything that has to do with general statistics, they immediately come back at you with a specific example of a person they know who's not like that.
00:35:21.000 So when you say that crime rates are higher in the black community than they are in the white community, the left will immediately come back and they will say, but I know a black guy and he's not violent.
00:35:28.000 Which is, of course, not the point.
00:35:29.000 Of course there are lots of black people who are not violent and not engaged in violent crime.
00:35:34.000 Of course there are lots of people out there who don't conform to normal gender stereotypes.
00:35:38.000 That doesn't mean that the stereotypes aren't rooted in biology.
00:35:42.000 The outlier, the exception, doesn't mean that there is no rule, but because the goal of the left is to destroy all rules, because the goal of the left is to ensure that rules go away completely so that every single human being
00:35:53.000 As part of the same broad class of human beings, we're all just widgets with a cookie cutter?
00:35:59.000 What's so amazing about the left, really, is that they insist that they want to create a panoply of human activity.
00:36:06.000 They want us all to be ourselves.
00:36:08.000 In the end, they don't.
00:36:09.000 In the end, they all want us to be the same.
00:36:12.000 And if we are different, and if we do have different activities, they're all supposed to be regarded the same.
00:36:15.000 So all standards have to be done away with.
00:36:18.000 And sex is just one of those standards.
00:36:20.000 And we're just going to do away with all of it, and we'll have a more beautiful world.
00:36:22.000 The only problem is people actually pay the price.
00:36:24.000 Because the reality is no matter how much you preach to a transgender man that he is a woman, no matter how much you preach to a transgender woman that she in fact is a man, the suicide rates will stay the same because reality is reality and biology is biology and mental disorder is a mental disorder.
00:36:40.000 Okay, and that's true for ISIS, and that's true for crazy people who shoot up Planned Parenthood.
00:36:44.000 There is such a thing as objective reality, and you just pretending that it doesn't exist doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
00:36:50.000 In fact, it means that more people end up suffering and paying a particularly high price because you insist on your obliteration of rules that humanity created over thousands of years to protect us
00:37:01.000 from the realities of life.
00:37:03.000 And it's sad more than anything else.
00:37:06.000 This is why I hate it that Hollywood is pushing an agenda that they're never going to have to suffer.
00:37:09.000 Hollywood is a bunch of rich people who are living in these privileged estates, talking about things with which they have no relation.
00:37:15.000 Eddie Redmayne is a dude and he's not a transgender woman.
00:37:18.000 Eddie Redmayne is never going to have to deal, presumably, with suicidality.
00:37:21.000 So it's easy for him to play a guy who transitions to a woman and then dies at age 30.
00:37:26.000 It's easy for Jeffrey Tambor to play a 60-year-old transgender woman.
00:37:32.000 It's easy for him to do that and then go home at night to his wife and kids, presumably, and never have to deal with the fallout of all these people who are now confused about their sexuality and confused about how they think about their lives.
00:37:41.000 It's easy for them to push these standards.
00:37:43.000 But the reality is there are people who pay the price for this, and the people who pay the price, almost invariably, are exactly the people the left thinks it's protecting by doing away with the standards that protected them in the first place.
00:37:53.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:37:54.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
