00:00:00.000 Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders, socialist of Lumbagia, they completely embarrassed themselves on Sunday on the issue of abortion.
00:00:10.000 They were apparently confronted for the first time in their adult lives by questions about the morality of their abortion perspectives, and so they froze like deer in the headlights.
00:00:19.000 Chuck Todd from NBC, he asked Clinton, quote,
00:00:22.000 When or if does an unborn child does have constitutional rights?
00:00:27.000 Clinton answered, quote, the unborn person doesn't have constitutional rights, which is a hell of a line.
00:00:32.000 And it's pretty damn clear.
00:00:34.000 The baby is an unborn human being, she's admitting.
00:00:36.000 It doesn't have rights because Hillary believes that certain human beings don't deserve rights, which is exactly the same perspective as the perspective of slaveholders in the antebellum South.
00:00:46.000 If the black person is on my plantation, he's property.
00:00:49.000 If you believe that borders mark personhood, personal borders like the borders of your uterus, or state borders, or plantation borders, you are by definition a monster.
00:00:57.000 But, this is the Democratic Party official position.
00:01:00.000 Unborn children, admitted unborn children, they have no rights.
00:01:04.000 If you want to kill them, grab a scalpel, sister.
00:01:06.000 No wonder Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood calls Hillary, quote, the pinnacle of everything we fought for.
00:01:12.000 Bernie Sanders, by the way, agrees with all of this.
00:01:14.000 He was asked the exact same question and he said, quote,
00:01:37.000 Using the language, unborn children.
00:01:38.000 This, again, is evil.
00:01:40.000 No restrictions on abortion means plunging a scissors into the base of the skull of a nine-month-old baby in the womb, sucking its brains into a sink, and then chopping it up for extraction.
00:01:49.000 Now normally, all this kind of stuff would be problematic for Democrats, because it's crazy.
00:01:54.000 But, thankfully for Democrats, they have Donald Trump.
00:01:57.000 So, Trump became pro-life apparently when he began considering whether to run for President of the United States a couple of years ago.
00:02:04.000 Up until that time, for the first 67 years of his life, he believed in partial birth abortion.
00:02:08.000 He still backs Planned Parenthood.
00:02:10.000 In the last four days, here are the following positions that he has held.
00:02:14.000 Last Wednesday, women should be punished for abortion.
00:02:17.000 Also Wednesday, quote, the issue is unclear.
00:02:20.000 It should be left to the states.
00:02:22.000 Thursday.
00:02:23.000 Quote, the woman is a victim in this case, as is the life in her womb.
00:02:25.000 My position has not changed.
00:02:27.000 Like Ronald Reagan, I am pro-life with exceptions.
00:02:30.000 Friday.
00:02:31.000 Quote, I think it would have been better if it were up to the states, but right now, the laws are set.
00:02:35.000 At this moment, the laws are set.
00:02:37.000 And I think we have to leave it that way.
00:02:38.000 Friday, quote, Mr. Trump gave an accurate account of the law as it is today and made clear it must stay that way now until he is president.
00:02:46.000 Then he will change the law through his judicial appointments and allow the states to protect the unborn.
00:02:50.000 There is nothing new or different here.
00:02:52.000 Saturday, quote, what I said was so good, it was so perfect, and then they look, they say, oh, maybe he should have added a word.
00:02:58.000 Sunday, yeah, I won't answer whether I've paid for an abortion or two.
00:03:02.000 Seriously, it was asked this by Maureen Dowd.
00:03:04.000 Wouldn't answer the question.
00:03:06.000 The pro-abortion position is morally disgusting and reprehensible.
00:03:10.000 It can't be fought by a guy with more positions than the Kama Sutra.
00:03:14.000 Trump's moral incoherence disgraces the pro-life movement, and in the process, undercuts everything conservatives believe.
00:03:20.000 He is the reverse King Midas of conservatism.
00:03:23.000 Every single conservative position he supposedly holds, he turns to horse crap.
00:03:27.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:03:28.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:03:37.000 Ah, we're back.
00:03:37.000 Here we are.
00:03:38.000 It's Monday.
00:03:39.000 And there's so much to talk about, as always.
00:03:41.000 Tomorrow, by the way, I will be off.
00:03:43.000 I will be on a plane because my college tour continues.
00:03:46.000 It will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday on the college tour.
00:03:48.000 I'll be speaking at University of Rochester.
00:03:50.000 I'll be speaking at Penn State.
00:03:52.000 And I'll be speaking at University of Michigan this week.
00:03:54.000 And then next week, I head to Berkeley.
00:03:56.000 But I can fly there and back in the same day so that we shouldn't miss any podcasts next week.
00:04:00.000 But we will be here all week long to break down the political situation for you.
00:04:05.000 First, quick note.
00:04:06.000 If you are somebody who wants to know more about economics, you need to go over to our friends at Hillsdale College.
00:04:12.000 Hillsdale College, wonderful institution.
00:04:14.000 If you have a kid looking to go to college, Hillsdale's a great place to send your kid.
00:04:19.000 And not only that, they also have programs now for you, right?
00:04:22.000 If you're a parent, if you are the kid, go check out their program, Economics 101.
00:04:27.000 So when people ask me for one book to read, just one, on politics, the book I recommend is Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt.
00:04:34.000 Which is to say, economics is the most important thing, outside of basic morality, that you can know as a conservative.
00:04:40.000 And most conservatives don't know economics.
00:04:43.000 Which is why they buy into the Trumponomics of Donald Trump.
00:04:46.000 Go to Economics 101 at Hillsdale.
00:04:48.000 It's hillsdale.edu slash ben.
00:04:50.000 That's Hillsdale.edu slash Ben.
00:04:53.000 And there you can go and find out how economics really works.
00:04:56.000 Again, vital for you as a conservative.
00:04:57.000 Hillsdale.edu slash Ben.
00:04:59.000 It is a free video course and it should be great.
00:05:02.000 Go check it out.
00:05:02.000 Hillsdale College.
00:05:03.000 Okay, so.
00:05:05.000 I have come to a conclusion about some Donald Trump voters.
00:05:08.000 So, I have really tried my best, up until the past couple of weeks, to go easy on the Trump voters.
00:05:15.000 I've said many times, I understand why you're voting for Donald Trump.
00:05:18.000 I understand that there are rationales for why you want to vote for Donald Trump.
00:05:22.000 I'm not saying you're stupid.
00:05:23.000 I'm not saying you're crazy.
00:05:25.000 In the last couple of weeks, if you're sticking with Donald Trump, you may be moving into one of those categories.
00:05:32.000 Because the fact is that Donald Trump is lying to you, and he's lying to you non-stop.
00:05:36.000 He does not stop lying to you.
00:05:37.000 And at a certain point, at a certain point you have to say, maybe there is a certain group of Trump voters, not all of them, maybe there's a certain group of diehard Trump voters who want to be lied to.
00:05:47.000 Who want to be lied to.
00:05:49.000 It's like a woman that you know who's in a bad marriage, a loveless marriage, and she's being treated horribly by her husband, and you keep saying, you know, leave.
00:05:56.000 She doesn't have kids.
00:05:56.000 There's no externalities.
00:05:58.000 Just leave.
00:05:59.000 Just leave.
00:05:59.000 And she won't leave.
00:06:00.000 At a certain point, you have to say, maybe she wants to be treated that way.
00:06:04.000 Otherwise, she would be leaving, right?
00:06:06.000 Maybe you want to be treated that way.
00:06:07.000 Maybe Trump supporters want to be treated with this disdain.
00:06:10.000 Maybe they actually see it.
00:06:12.000 I think?
00:06:28.000 Why wouldn't you want to be a part of that?
00:06:30.000 And so Trump will lie to you, he'll lie to the press, he will lie to the American people, he will lie to everyone if he needs to, and you feel powerful because of that.
00:06:37.000 There's a group of people, you can talk to them.
00:06:40.000 It makes them feel powerful to believe that Donald Trump is always beleaguered, that when he switches his position he hasn't actually done that, he's been targeted.
00:06:48.000 Donald Trump is not a victim.
00:06:50.000 He is not a victim.
00:06:51.000 Donald Trump is an electoral powerhouse.
00:06:54.000 Donald Trump is a very powerful media personality.
00:06:57.000 He is driving media coverage.
00:06:58.000 He is driving narrative.
00:06:59.000 He is not a victim.
00:07:01.000 There are certain people who are victims of media hits.
00:07:04.000 And early on, by the way, I defended Donald Trump when I thought that he was being victimized by media hits.
00:07:09.000 I don't think that he's being victimized when he is making these mistakes himself.
00:07:13.000 When he is putting himself in position for all of this.
00:07:17.000 When he's putting himself in position for all of this.
00:07:20.000 So, let's start with over the weekend.
00:07:24.000 Donald Trump was doing this routine where he was trying to defend himself over the Corey Lewandowski situation.
00:07:31.000 So, just to recap for people who missed it, or have been under a rock, or you haven't been listening to my show regularly.
00:07:37.000 By the way, we're growing by leaps and bounds, so thank you, listeners.
00:07:41.000 Here's the story of Corey Lewandowski.
00:07:42.000 Corey Lewandowski grabbed a reporter, Michelle Fields, who, by the way, I'd met, I think, once in person before this whole thing went down.
00:07:48.000 He grabbed Michelle.
00:07:49.000 By the arm, he yanked her.
00:07:50.000 He grabbed her.
00:07:51.000 He bruised her.
00:07:52.000 Right?
00:07:52.000 That's what happened.
00:07:53.000 It is documented.
00:07:54.000 There are pictures.
00:07:55.000 There is eyewitness testimony.
00:07:57.000 There is tape.
00:07:58.000 It all happened that way.
00:08:00.000 Corey Lewandowski said, I never touched her.
00:08:01.000 Donald Trump said, she made it up.
00:08:03.000 She's an attention seeker.
00:08:04.000 Then it came out that he did touch her, and then it turned into, well, he didn't grab her that hard.
00:08:08.000 What's the big deal?
00:08:09.000 Then it turned into Donald Trump suggesting that Corey Lewandowski was some sort of Jack Bauer figure who came in from the side, pushed his way through Secret Service to protect his man from that evil Michelle Field, who might've had a pen that could've been, as Trump put it, a knife or a little bomb.
00:08:26.000 Okay.
00:08:27.000 And finally, finally, Donald Trump came around to the perspective that no Lewandowski did touch her, but he still wouldn't apologize.
00:08:33.000 So, first of all, here's what, what makes Trump's people just warm to him, right?
00:08:38.000 Warm to him.
00:08:39.000 He's willing to do anything for you.
00:08:41.000 He's willing to do it.
00:08:42.000 It's the same thing that draws you to characters on TV.
00:08:44.000 You know, there's always a situation.
00:08:45.000 I watch a lot of comic book shows now because they're enjoyable.
00:08:48.000 And there's always a situation in the latest Batman versus Superman, same situation.
00:08:51.000 There's always some situation.
00:08:53.000 There's a father, or a husband, or a son, and a family member is in danger.
00:08:58.000 And somebody says to them, you have to go do this evil thing in order to protect the family member, right?
00:09:02.000 You have to go out and you have to kill some innocent person in order to protect the family member.
00:09:07.000 And the hero of the show always does it, right?
00:09:08.000 The hero of the show always starts to engage in this evil behavior.
00:09:12.000 So in Batman V Superman there's something like this in
00:09:16.000 Arrow, there's something like this, and Flash, there's something like this.
00:09:18.000 It's always, go do this, excuse me, go do this evil thing, or we're gonna hurt your family member.
00:09:23.000 And you're thrilled to that, right?
00:09:24.000 You feel sympathetic to that person, because, after all, isn't it good they're defending their family?
00:09:29.000 Trump draws on that.
00:09:31.000 He draws on your willingness to give him credence in that.
00:09:34.000 So it's, I'm loyal to my people, even when they do things that are wrong.
00:09:38.000 And all I'm doing is hitting back.
00:09:39.000 I'm really just a great defender.
00:09:41.000 And I'm just defending my people, my people.
00:09:43.000 Now we'll explain in a minute why all the people who think Trump is their people, it's not true.
00:09:47.000 But Trump thinks, Trump says, you know, I will defend my people.
00:09:51.000 So he says, number one, his entire strategy in life is I always hit back.
00:09:54.000 I only hit back.
00:09:55.000 I'm never aggressive.
00:09:56.000 Which, by the way, is not true.
00:09:58.000 Donald Trump routinely hits people for no reason.
00:10:00.000 And I've said this since the outset of his campaign.
00:10:02.000 He's a hammer in search of a nail.
00:10:04.000 Sometimes he hits a nail.
00:10:05.000 Sometimes he hits a puppy.
00:10:06.000 But here is Donald Trump explaining what exactly his general life strategy is.
00:10:11.000 Here we go.
00:10:12.000 Ivanka said, Dad, on the final debate, be very presidential.
00:10:15.000 I've done great in the debates.
00:10:16.000 I've won, according to Drudge and everybody else, I've won all of the debates, every single one of them.
00:10:22.000 Be presidential.
00:10:24.000 I said, look, if somebody hits me, I have to hit them back.
00:10:27.000 I have to.
00:10:27.000 I'm not going to stand there and be like, oh, I'm wonderful, I'm a president.
00:10:30.000 I want to win.
00:10:31.000 And I'll be so presidential, you won't believe it.
00:10:34.000 I will be the most boring- What does that mean to be presidential?
00:10:35.000 Well, it means maybe not be so aggressive.
00:10:37.000 Aggressive maybe not get so personal, but when people get personal with me.
00:10:42.000 I mean they say oh, they don't like my hair Okay, now if I ever said I didn't like their hair would be a headline He's sober, but they're allowed to say whatever they want about me look We started out with people hitting and my hair's not that bad is it?
00:10:57.000 And it is my hair, but but you know what happens
00:11:00.000 What happens is they hit me and I hit them back harder.
00:11:04.000 And usually, I mean, almost in all cases, they do it first.
00:11:07.000 But they hit me and I hit them back harder and they disappear.
00:11:10.000 And that's what we want to leave the country.
00:11:12.000 But I promise you, let me finish it off.
00:11:17.000 I will be so presidential.
00:11:18.000 Greta, you will be so proud of me.
00:11:21.000 Okay, again, making all these promises that he's not going to keep.
00:11:24.000 I will be so presidential, you will be so proud of me.
00:11:27.000 No, he won't.
00:11:28.000 He won't, because here's the reality.
00:11:30.000 If Donald Trump had been presidential three weeks ago, this nomination would have been sewn up already.
00:11:34.000 That's the reality.
00:11:35.000 Donald Trump is not presidential.
00:11:37.000 It's clear he's not presidential.
00:11:38.000 If Donald Trump had just disappeared for three weeks after winning Arizona, he would have won the nomination walking away.
00:11:44.000 But he can't keep his mouth shut because he can't control himself.
00:11:47.000 Also, the idea that he only hits back is absolute horsepucky.
00:11:49.000 It's nonsense.
00:11:51.000 Whether he's hitting Michelle Fields, or whether he's hitting Amanda Carpenter, sending out his surrogates to accuse her of adultery with Ted Cruz, or whether he's out there attacking John McCain as a loser for being a POW, or whether he's attacking a reporter for being disabled, or whether he's telling his protesters that they ought to punch people, and then he'll pay for their defense.
00:12:08.000 This is nonsense.
00:12:09.000 Donald Trump is an aggressor.
00:12:10.000 It's what he does.
00:12:11.000 He's not a guy who acts in defense.
00:12:13.000 And Trump basically admits this to you.
00:12:16.000 He admits this to you, but you believe that he is the bad guy in service of you.
00:12:24.000 I've been looking for a perfect analogy, and there is no perfect analogy, so we'll go with this one.
00:12:30.000 There's a girl, and she brings home her boyfriend, who happens to be a meth-addicted biker.
00:12:34.000 Right, and what she likes about the meth-addicted biker is that if somebody hits on her, the meth-addicted biker beats that guy to death with a chain.
00:12:39.000 Right, that's what she likes about the guy.
00:12:42.000 And he keeps promising, she brings him home to Mother, and Mother says, well, of course he does that, because he's a meth-addicted biker.
00:12:48.000 And she says, oh, no, no, no, no, but he's gonna change.
00:12:50.000 Once he marries me, he's gonna change.
00:12:52.000 He's not gonna do that anymore.
00:12:53.000 He'll still be the same kind of good guy, you know, except without the meth and without the biking.
00:12:58.000 He comes into the house, he says, don't worry, I won't be that anymore.
00:13:00.000 I'll be a nice guy.
00:13:02.000 I'll be a good guy.
00:13:03.000 Do you believe that guy?
00:13:05.000 Do you think she's making a good call?
00:13:07.000 Trump voters, do you think that Donald Trump will become presidential?
00:13:10.000 Do you even want him to be presidential?
00:13:11.000 I think there's a part of you that doesn't want him to be presidential.
00:13:14.000 There's a part of you that wants him to continue doing this.
00:13:17.000 You want him to be this vindictive, nasty, aggressive fellow.
00:13:22.000 You think it's good for the country if he does that, because he'll hit all of your enemies.
00:13:26.000 Until you become his enemies, at which point he hits you.
00:13:29.000 So, as proof of this, Donald Trump, I'm just going to prove to you that Donald Trump has been lying to you repeatedly.
00:13:34.000 And he has.
00:13:35.000 And you don't seem to care.
00:13:36.000 You don't seem to care.
00:13:36.000 And it's maddening.
00:13:37.000 It's maddening.
00:13:38.000 For those of us who actually believe in principle above politicians, it's maddening.
00:13:42.000 When Ted Cruz says things that are wrong, I'll hit Ted Cruz when he says things that are wrong.
00:13:47.000 For example, I hit Ted Cruz.
00:13:48.000 You can look it up.
00:13:49.000 When Ted Cruz endorsed the TPP, when he endorsed the new trade deal with Obama negotiating it, I came out against it and I said it was a mistake.
00:13:58.000 Not because I don't like free trade, but because I don't trust Obama.
00:14:01.000 And I hit Cruz on that.
00:14:02.000 You can look it up.
00:14:04.000 When Trump says anything, he'll lie openly.
00:14:07.000 A lot of Trump people come out and they say, oh, well, that's just Trump.
00:14:11.000 You know, he's defending himself.
00:14:12.000 He's defending himself.
00:14:13.000 He's the father defending his daughter by killing a good guy.
00:14:17.000 He's the meth-addicted biker who's beating up the guy who hit on his girlfriend.
00:14:21.000 It's OK.
00:14:21.000 John Dickerson had on Trump on CBS News on Sunday.
00:14:26.000 And he confronted him over the Lewandowski situation.
00:14:28.000 And here is Donald Trump explaining.
00:14:30.000 Here's a question that comes out.
00:14:32.000 The video shows that he did grab her.
00:14:34.000 What he said turned out not to be true.
00:14:36.000 You said she made it up.
00:14:37.000 But what she said wasn't true, John.
00:14:39.000 But the main point is did he touch her or not.
00:14:42.000 He did touch her.
00:14:43.000 So the question is for you as the person with the power in this relationship.
00:14:46.000 You've got all these people working for you.
00:14:47.000 You've got all these big huge buildings.
00:14:49.000 Why not be the bigger person and say she was treated roughly.
00:14:52.000 She was my guest.
00:14:54.000 I apologize to her and let's move on.
00:14:56.000 It's not my job to apologize to her.
00:14:58.000 I had nothing.
00:14:58.000 I just happened to be walking through.
00:15:00.000 But you're the man running the show.
00:15:01.000 Excuse me.
00:15:03.000 I think that maybe if he didn't know, it could have been because the incident was so minor that he didn't even know what they were talking about.
00:15:10.000 That's what I think.
00:15:12.000 It'll get solved.
00:15:13.000 It'll get taken care of.
00:15:15.000 Let's see what happens.
00:15:18.000 I have to be honest.
00:15:19.000 I'm a loyal person.
00:15:20.000 And I'll be very loyal to the country.
00:15:22.000 And I'll be very loyal to the people of this country.
00:15:24.000 I don't think I can destroy a man's life.
00:15:27.000 And you will destroy his life.
00:15:29.000 I don't think I can destroy.
00:15:30.000 It's already had a big impact on him.
00:15:32.000 I don't think I can destroy a man's life by what I saw on that video.
00:15:37.000 Okay, I can't destroy a man's life by what I saw on the video, but you can destroy Michelle Fields' life for having done all this.
00:15:42.000 She's had to move out of her house, by the way.
00:15:44.000 She's had to move out of her apartment.
00:15:45.000 You can call her an attention whore.
00:15:47.000 You can suggest that she is the worst thing that ever descended on the country.
00:15:51.000 It was some sort of evil conspiracy to get Corey Lewandowski or whatever.
00:15:55.000 So he says there that he's a loyal guy, and this is what his supporters love.
00:15:58.000 So he's admitting, by the way, that Corey Lewandowski lied.
00:16:01.000 Yeah, Corey Lewandowski grabbed her, but it doesn't matter.
00:16:03.000 See, Trump is loyal.
00:16:04.000 He's loyal.
00:16:04.000 He'll let people lie to him if they're in his inner circle.
00:16:07.000 And he'll be loyal to them.
00:16:08.000 He'll lie to you.
00:16:09.000 Right?
00:16:09.000 Donald Trump said she made the whole thing up.
00:16:11.000 That she made the whole thing up.
00:16:13.000 And then he said, there's tape of it everywhere.
00:16:15.000 If there's tape, where's the tape?
00:16:16.000 There was tape.
00:16:17.000 And now he's coming out and he's saying, well, it wasn't a big deal.
00:16:19.000 That's a different story than the story you told before.
00:16:21.000 But his supporters thrill to this.
00:16:23.000 I'm hearing from his supporters every, literally every 30 seconds, I'm hearing from the tape shows that Lewandowski is innocent.
00:16:29.000 No, the tape shows that Lewandowski is grabbing her.
00:16:32.000 And again, it's not like this was a big deal.
00:16:34.000 It wasn't.
00:16:35.000 It's not like anybody is claiming that Lewandowski beat the crap out of her.
00:16:38.000 The accusation is that Lewandowski did something he shouldn't have done and he should have apologized, right?
00:16:44.000 That was the accusation.
00:16:46.000 And Trump refuses to do it.
00:16:47.000 And here's Trump doubling down on that.
00:16:50.000 Right?
00:16:50.000 Because Trump's supporters want someone unapologetic even when they're wrong.
00:16:54.000 They want to be lied to because they believe that when Donald Trump promises them the moon, here's the thing.
00:16:59.000 The Donald Trump who promises you he'll stand by Lewandowski is the Donald Trump who promises you that he'll bring your job back from China.
00:17:06.000 Why not just apologize to her?
00:17:33.000 Because let me tell you why.
00:17:36.000 I'm a loyal person, number one.
00:17:38.000 I'm not saying you fire him.
00:17:39.000 Then when she wrote out, early on, before she knew she was on tape, that she was practically thrown to the ground.
00:17:46.000 I mean, I wish I had it here.
00:17:47.000 I'd read her statement.
00:17:48.000 No, I know what she said.
00:17:49.000 That didn't happen.
00:17:50.000 Okay?
00:17:50.000 Do you agree with that?
00:17:51.000 I agree with you.
00:17:52.000 But why not just apologize?
00:17:54.000 No, but she lied.
00:17:55.000 Do you agree that she lied?
00:17:57.000 I think she completely misrepresented it early on.
00:18:00.000 I do.
00:18:00.000 Early on?
00:18:02.000 Okay, so first of all, she didn't completely misrepresent it.
00:18:04.000 Read the count account.
00:18:05.000 But I'm not going to get back into the facts of it because we've done it ad nauseam on this program and we've shown the tape and we've done all of this.
00:18:11.000 We've read her statement, all of it.
00:18:13.000 What Trump does is he's making it seem as though the lie his campaign manager told.
00:18:18.000 I didn't grab her.
00:18:19.000 And then him calling her an attention seeker.
00:18:21.000 All of that is equivalent to Michelle Field saying, I was grabbed from behind, I was yanked toward the ground, I lost my balance, I regained my balance.
00:18:30.000 That her account was more of a lie than him saying outright that it never happened at all.
00:18:36.000 And then saying that Secret Service was fearful she had a bomb on her.
00:18:39.000 And you all love it.
00:18:40.000 You love it because he's manipulating the truth and people are buying it.
00:18:43.000 And you feel like, okay, well, if Obama can manipulate the truth and people bought it, if Trump sticks to his version of the facts, his version of the facts, then everything will be fine.
00:18:51.000 Because no matter what happens, he'll win.
00:18:54.000 He's a winner.
00:18:54.000 And he's winning even here.
00:18:56.000 Every time Trump lies and gets away with it, it's a win for a group of his people.
00:19:00.000 And they become part of it.
00:19:02.000 They become sucked into the lie.
00:19:03.000 He tells a small lie, and they go along with it.
00:19:06.000 And then he tells a larger lie, and now they're invested in the lie.
00:19:08.000 And now, if he gets away with it,
00:19:10.000 It's like a school kid who got away with stealing the cookies.
00:19:13.000 You're part of it.
00:19:14.000 You're part of the crime now.
00:19:15.000 And it's great because you actually got away with it.
00:19:17.000 You got away with it.
00:19:18.000 And you'll see Trump do the same thing here.
00:19:20.000 Trump admitted yesterday.
00:19:21.000 He admitted yesterday that when he accused Ted Cruz of being behind the ad that targeted Melania Trump, he had no evidence of it.
00:19:28.000 But he still pushes it anyway.
00:19:30.000 And his people still push it anyway.
00:19:31.000 Here's Trump lying again.
00:19:32.000 Here we go.
00:19:34.000 For instance, the fact that you spent days going after Ted Cruz's wife and her looks.
00:19:39.000 Excuse me, excuse me.
00:19:41.000 Ted Cruz came after me.
00:19:42.000 No, he didn't.
00:19:46.000 Well, he did through my wife.
00:19:48.000 No, he didn't.
00:19:48.000 He took a picture.
00:19:49.000 No, he didn't.
00:19:51.000 Of course he did.
00:19:51.000 Do you have any evidence that he knew about the attack by the independent super PAC?
00:19:57.000 My evidence is total common sense.
00:19:59.000 He knew those people.
00:20:01.000 Those people were 100% for them.
00:20:03.000 They coordinated together.
00:20:04.000 I have no doubt about it in a million years.
00:20:07.000 He did that attack.
00:20:08.000 And this was just retaliation.
00:20:09.000 Even if he did, was it worth you spending a week on?
00:20:12.000 No, I would say probably not.
00:20:13.000 If I had it to do again, I probably wouldn't have sent it.
00:20:15.000 I didn't think it was particularly bad, but I probably wouldn't have sent it.
00:20:19.000 But this was a response.
00:20:21.000 It's always the same routine with him, right?
00:20:23.000 He makes up a lie, and then he says, I'm responding in kind when he's not.
00:20:28.000 And then he says, well, maybe I shouldn't have done it in the first place, but hey, that's what I do.
00:20:31.000 You know, I'm a loyal guy.
00:20:32.000 I'm a guy who fights back.
00:20:33.000 I'm a guy who fights back.
00:20:35.000 I'm the hero in this story, just defending my people.
00:20:37.000 And I'll do whatever I can to defend my people.
00:20:39.000 Now his people feel really defended, right?
00:20:41.000 His people feel really defended.
00:20:42.000 And I'm talking particularly about older white voters, right?
00:20:45.000 Older white voters are feeling really defended.
00:20:47.000 The alt-right people, the young white nationalists, they're feeling really defended by Donald Trump.
00:20:51.000 They feel like he's gonna stand up for them.
00:20:53.000 He's gonna stand up for them.
00:20:55.000 The only people Trump is really gonna stand up for are the people he feels personally vested with.
00:21:00.000 So last week, last Wednesday, there was an interview in which Donald Trump talked about abortion.
00:21:05.000 And it made big headlines because he said that he wanted to jail women for abortions.
00:21:10.000 We talked about this last week.
00:21:11.000 There was another headline that got completely missed.
00:21:14.000 Donald Trump was asked about Muslims immigrating to the United States.
00:21:17.000 And he was asked, okay, well, you know, what about that?
00:21:21.000 Is that Islamophobic?
00:21:22.000 He says, no, I have lots of Muslim friends who agree with me.
00:21:25.000 And he says, and he added, I have very rich Muslim friends.
00:21:28.000 Very rich, this is his quote, very rich Muslim friends who agree with me.
00:21:32.000 And someone asked him, so would they be allowed to come?
00:21:34.000 He says, yes, they'll be allowed to come in.
00:21:36.000 So in other words, his Muslim ban applies to everyone except for his very rich Muslim friends.
00:21:40.000 This is how Trump operates.
00:21:42.000 It's like the mafia.
00:21:43.000 If you are a member of the mafia, if you bow to the Godfather, if you come and you and you kiss his hand and you show respect to the Godfather, you're in.
00:21:50.000 And the Godfather can commit any crime, and so long as you back him, it's okay.
00:21:54.000 He can tell any lie.
00:21:56.000 And so long as you back him, you're okay.
00:21:59.000 Every element of Trump's campaign is a loyalty test.
00:22:02.000 He's pushing the loyalty test as far as he can, and he's getting away with it.
00:22:05.000 And he's doing it on the core issues.
00:22:07.000 This is the part that's really bothersome.
00:22:09.000 Lying on small things like Lewandowski, it's indicative of a broader character flaw, but in the grand scheme of things, is it a huge deal?
00:22:16.000 No.
00:22:16.000 But the problem is, it applies to everything.
00:22:19.000 It applies to everything.
00:22:20.000 And I'll explain what I mean by that in just a moment.
00:22:22.000 First, gotta take a brief profit timeout with Reagan.com.
00:22:25.000 Our good friends over at Reagan.com, they offer you an email address.
00:22:29.000 It's yournameatreagan.com.
00:22:31.000 This gets you two things.
00:22:33.000 One, an email address where you get to smack people in the head.
00:22:36.000 With the name Reagan.com at the end.
00:22:37.000 And the second is that they vow that you will never have to reveal your personal private information.
00:22:42.000 They will never turn over scanned information from your emails.
00:22:45.000 They will never turn over information to corporations or to the government.
00:22:50.000 They'll protect your privacy.
00:22:51.000 Go to ReaganPrivacy.com.
00:22:53.000 That's the place to be.
00:22:54.000 ReaganPrivacy.com.
00:22:56.000 And when you go now, you get two months free.
00:22:58.000 So that's a pretty good deal.
00:22:59.000 Okay, so.
00:23:01.000 The Lewandowski thing is just indicative.
00:23:02.000 So, usually campaign gaffes, campaign scandals, they're usually not that big.
00:23:07.000 They just tell you something about the character of the person involved.
00:23:10.000 Effective campaign scandals are basically, something small happens, and it just reinforces everything you already felt about this person in the first place.
00:23:18.000 It just reinforces it.
00:23:21.000 The problem for Trump is that Trump doesn't just lie in order to protect his people like Lewandowski.
00:23:25.000 He doesn't just drag his entire base into lying about it, pretending that tape doesn't show what tape clearly shows, making crap up, suggesting that people who oppose Trump must be having sex with Ted Cruz, or that people like me who oppose Trump, it's because I'm trying to have sex with all the other female Ted Cruz surrogates, or people who don't like Trump, or any of the rest of it.
00:23:44.000 All of that is bad enough.
00:23:45.000 The part that gets really bad is when Donald Trump takes principles that his base is supposed to hold and just craps all over them and lies about them.
00:23:54.000 Abortion is a perfect case.
00:23:55.000 So, as we mentioned at the very top, Donald Trump has taken, I think, five separate positions on abortion in the last four days.
00:24:02.000 In the last four days.
00:24:04.000 He's all over the place, because he's lying to you.
00:24:07.000 And you're going right along with it.
00:24:08.000 We've now got major figures in the right-wing movement, major conservative figures, or formerly conservative figures, defending funding of Planned Parenthood.
00:24:17.000 Because Donald Trump is lying, and he's making you complicit in his lies.
00:24:21.000 He's making you part of his lies, because you want to be lied to, because you still want to buy into the one big lie that matters more than anything else, which is that he is going to defend you, protect you, and save you.
00:24:30.000 That he is Daddy, as Milo Yiannopoulos likes to call him.
00:24:33.000 And all the white nationalists, a lot of them who back Milo, feel the same thing.
00:24:38.000 Oh, he's daddy.
00:24:39.000 If you oppose him, it's a loyalty test.
00:24:41.000 They want to march in lockstep with daddy and with Trump because they're part of the regime.
00:24:46.000 If you're part of the Trump machine, it makes you a morally superior person because Trump is going to be part of the mutual defense pact with all of these disenfranchised white folks.
00:24:57.000 So if you have to throw out all the principles, you do it just to be a part of this group.
00:25:01.000 So here's what Trump did on abortion.
00:25:04.000 Trump, as we mentioned before, he took a position last week, women should be punished for abortion.
00:25:08.000 Within an hour, no, women shouldn't be punished for abortion, I made a mistake.
00:25:11.000 The next day, he says, what we really should do is we should leave it to the states after Roe v. Wade is repealed.
00:25:16.000 And then he comes out with, well, maybe we shouldn't change the laws at all.
00:25:20.000 Yeah, maybe including Roe v. Wade.
00:25:21.000 We just shouldn't change the laws at all.
00:25:23.000 And then he comes out with, it was all great.
00:25:25.000 Here's Donald Trump.
00:25:27.000 This is yesterday, clarifying his abortion comments and making no sense about it.
00:25:31.000 And again, his defenders will defend him because he lies about his positions, about how he feels.
00:25:36.000 He makes it up on the spot.
00:25:37.000 But he's telling you one great lie that you really want to hear, which is that he is there for you.
00:25:43.000 Here's Donald Trump clarifying his abortion comments.
00:25:45.000 Let me ask you a question about abortion.
00:25:48.000 What would you do to further restrict women's access to abortions as president?
00:25:53.000 Well, look, look, I just, I mean, I know where you're going, and I just want to say, a question was asked to me, and it was asked in a very hypothetical, and it was said illegal, illegal.
00:26:07.000 I've been told by some people that was an older line answer, and that was an answer that was given on a basis of an older line from years ago, on a very conservative basis.
00:26:20.000 Your original answer, you mean?
00:26:21.000 My original, but I was asked as a hypothetical, hypothetically.
00:26:26.000 Hypothetically.
00:26:29.000 The laws are set now on abortion, and that's the way they're going to remain until they're changed.
00:26:34.000 Because you had said you wanted, you told Bloomberg in January, that you believe abortion should be banned at some point in pregnancy.
00:26:40.000 Where would you do the ban?
00:26:41.000 Well, first of all, I would have liked to have seen this be a states' right.
00:26:45.000 I would have preferred states' rights.
00:26:46.000 I think it would have been better if it were up to the states.
00:26:50.000 But right now the laws are set and that's the way the laws are.
00:26:53.000 But do you have a feeling how they should change?
00:26:54.000 There are a lot of laws you want to change.
00:26:55.000 You've talked about them on everything from libel to torture.
00:26:58.000 Anything you'd want to change on abortion?
00:26:59.000 At this moment the laws are set and I think we have to leave it that way.
00:27:03.000 Do you think it's murder, abortion?
00:27:09.000 I have my opinions on it, but I'd rather not comment on it.
00:27:11.000 You said you're very pro-life.
00:27:12.000 Pro-life views that abortion is murder.
00:27:15.000 But I do have my opinions on it.
00:27:18.000 I just don't think it's inappropriate for them.
00:27:20.000 But you don't disagree with that proposition that it's murder?
00:27:22.000 What proposition?
00:27:23.000 That abortion is murder.
00:27:25.000 No, I don't disagree with that.
00:27:26.000 I don't disagree with it, but I do agree with it, but I don't agree with it.
00:27:29.000 He doesn't have a position because he hasn't thought it through because he's lying to you.
00:27:32.000 He says he's pro-life.
00:27:33.000 This is the face.
00:27:34.000 That is a clip of a man who doesn't know the first thing about being pro-life.
00:27:38.000 He's not pro-life.
00:27:39.000 He doesn't care about pro-life.
00:27:40.000 It's not an issue that's important to him, but it's a lie that all of his people are willing to uphold.
00:27:44.000 And they're playing it as though he was trapped today.
00:27:46.000 You know, people with who I have great respect for are playing it like this.
00:27:50.000 Rush Limbaugh is saying that he was trapped.
00:27:51.000 Donald Trump is not a victim of the media.
00:27:53.000 Donald Trump is a user of the media.
00:27:55.000 Donald Trump is only famous, he's only big because he knows how to use the media.
00:27:59.000 I'd rather not comment on whether abortion is murder?
00:28:01.000 Really?
00:28:02.000 You'd rather not comment?
00:28:04.000 How is that an acceptable answer to anyone?
00:28:06.000 You'd rather not comment on whether abortion is murder?
00:28:10.000 And then, he'll go in front of his supporters and he'll say, yeah, so I may have sounded incoherent, but don't worry!
00:28:15.000 My abortion comments were great!
00:28:16.000 Right, this is what he actually says, this is clip 7.
00:28:19.000 My abortion comments were just spectacular!
00:28:22.000 The truth is, you can't, no matter what you do, no matter what you say, because they can take something you say and turn it around, like I'll be on CBS Face the Nation.
00:28:31.000 What I said was perfect.
00:28:34.000 What I said was, in fact, otherwise I wouldn't, honestly, I'm going to be on that tomorrow.
00:28:38.000 And I taped it yesterday.
00:28:40.000 What I said was so good.
00:28:41.000 It was so perfect.
00:28:43.000 And then they looked, they said, oh, maybe you should have added a word.
00:28:46.000 Well, actually, the way it came out, they took words out that I said.
00:28:50.000 Okay, so he's lying to you.
00:28:52.000 He's just lying.
00:28:53.000 So they manipulated it.
00:28:54.000 Whenever he's wrong, somebody else manipulated him.
00:28:56.000 It's not that he has no positions and no policy and no real moral backbone.
00:29:00.000 By the way, he refused to answer Maureen Dowd on a very simple question, which was, have you ever paid for an abortion?
00:29:05.000 Like, she asked him, have you ever been involved with a woman who had an abortion?
00:29:08.000 He refused to answer the question.
00:29:10.000 He refused to answer the question.
00:29:12.000 Yeah, this sounds like somebody who's real.
00:29:14.000 I trust this guy, but you do.
00:29:16.000 Trump people do trust him because he's lying to everybody except you.
00:29:19.000 Note to the ladies, if you are going to date a guy who says he's going to lie to everyone except you, he's also lying to you.
00:29:27.000 He's also lying to you.
00:29:29.000 If you're dating a guy who's lied to all his previous girlfriends, and he lies to his parents, and he lies to his co-workers, he's going to lie to you too.
00:29:36.000 He's not telling you the truth.
00:29:38.000 And all these people who are loyal to Trump,
00:29:41.000 I'm just telling you.
00:29:42.000 He will betray all the things that you think that he is going to be for.
00:29:45.000 He is going to lie to you also.
00:29:47.000 Because you think that if you pledge your loyalty to him, he pledges his loyalty to you.
00:29:51.000 Ask his first two wives if that worked out well.
00:29:53.000 Okay, that's not how this works.
00:29:55.000 That's not how this works.
00:29:57.000 What's making me a little bit nauseous about nauseated about all of this is is and Trump plays this card all the time, right?
00:30:04.000 It's not that he's lying to people.
00:30:05.000 It's that he's constantly being discriminated against.
00:30:07.000 He's the victim.
00:30:08.000 He's the victim.
00:30:08.000 So this is what you get from from sociopathic people is you get this routine where they lie to everybody, but it's really everyone else who's lying about them.
00:30:16.000 The world's out to get them.
00:30:17.000 It's not that they've lied to everybody.
00:30:19.000 Pathological people do this.
00:30:21.000 The world is out to get me.
00:30:22.000 I'm the victim, right?
00:30:23.000 I'm lying to everyone, but I'm the victim.
00:30:25.000 Here's Donald Trump doing that.
00:30:26.000 He says, I'm being discriminated against, is what Trump says.
00:30:29.000 We'll see how we're treated.
00:30:30.000 I want to see how we're treated.
00:30:32.000 I want to see how we're treated.
00:30:33.000 Look, I signed a pledge.
00:30:35.000 They wanted me to sign the pledge.
00:30:37.000 And I'm the one that's being discriminated against.
00:30:39.000 Everybody was worried about me.
00:30:41.000 And then, because maybe a lot of people didn't expect this to happen, you know, I'm not a politician.
00:30:46.000 I'm self-funding my campaign.
00:30:47.000 A lot of people are very upset about that because people want to give money.
00:30:50.000 Because when they give money, they control the guy that runs for office.
00:30:53.000 You understand that better than anybody.
00:30:55.000 I don't want their money.
00:30:56.000 I don't take their money.
00:30:57.000 So I'm self-funding.
00:30:58.000 People don't like that.
00:30:59.000 People don't like a lot of the things that I'm doing.
00:31:02.000 But you know who does like it?
00:31:05.000 He says he's a victim, he's a victim, he's a victim.
00:31:07.000 So, he's being victimized.
00:31:08.000 Now, the part of this that's so disturbing is not that he has supporters who want to be lied to.
00:31:11.000 Every politician does.
00:31:12.000 Hillary Clinton certainly does.
00:31:14.000 Democrats want to be lied to by Hillary.
00:31:34.000 They feel she's lying for them.
00:31:37.000 The problem is, I see the conservative movement being hijacked by this.
00:31:40.000 So watch the head of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, defend Trump.
00:31:44.000 Say that Trump is really a boon to the Republican Party.
00:31:47.000 We'll follow him into battle if he's the nominee.
00:31:49.000 Here's Reince Priebus.
00:31:51.000 Well, look, every candidate has positives and every candidate has challenges that you have to overcome in the general election.
00:32:00.000 But the fact is Donald Trump has also brought in millions of new voters to our party.
00:32:05.000 We're ahead of Democrats in registration.
00:32:07.000 We've had a 70% turnout increase.
00:32:10.000 Some of these things are historic for our party.
00:32:12.000 You look at the Democrats, John, they're in the ditch.
00:32:15.000 And what about Hillary Clinton?
00:32:16.000 Have you seen her numbers with women?
00:32:18.000 Some of this stuff is pretty startling.
00:32:20.000 I understand
00:32:21.000 That we've got some drama on our side of the aisle that we're going to have to contend with and we'll be prepared to like never before.
00:32:27.000 But I think you look at the Democrats.
00:32:29.000 I think they're in for a fiasco, especially if Comey comes in and indicts Hillary Clinton and they have an open convention.
00:32:36.000 And who knows?
00:32:37.000 I've heard people talking about Joe Biden coming back into the fold.
00:32:41.000 So look, there is drama, but we're prepared and we're going to win and we're going to we're going to retake the White House in November.
00:32:48.000 We're going to retake the White House.
00:32:49.000 We're all going to get behind him.
00:32:50.000 And the problem is, once you're co-opted into the lie, this is why I won't get involved with Trump.
00:32:54.000 Once you're co-opted into the lie, you can't just stand apart from your candidate and say, I'll back... There's a fair position for Trump, which is the Dennis Prager position.
00:33:02.000 I'll back Trump even though I know he's a liar and a reprobate, because Hillary Clinton is a worse liar and a reprobate.
00:33:07.000 I don't think it's a good argument, but it's an argument.
00:33:10.000 And then there's what's actually happening with people, which is people finding personal loyalty to a guy who lies to them because they think that he's not lying to me.
00:33:17.000 I'm the only person in the world he doesn't lie to.
00:33:19.000 One of those people is Newt Gingrich.
00:33:21.000 Here's the former Speaker of the House doing exactly that routine, saying that Donald Trump, when he lies about abortion, when he's wrong about abortion, it's all because Donald Trump is a victim.
00:33:30.000 Man, if you're a conservative and you sit down with Chris Matthews, you need to have your head examined.
00:33:35.000 Well, you know, I'm glad you brought that up.
00:33:37.000 I mean, really, you have to have that answer.
00:33:41.000 You know it's coming.
00:33:41.000 You know it's going to come in a form that you're not going to be able to...
00:33:44.000 Talk or explain yourself.
00:33:46.000 It feels, and look, it feels like you walked into a buzzsaw with that.
00:33:49.000 We did, and it's not his position that Super PAC ad is a lie.
00:33:54.000 They know it's a lie, but he made the mistake.
00:33:57.000 It was like an error in baseball.
00:33:58.000 I mean, it was his error.
00:34:00.000 Now he's got to go back and clean it up.
00:34:02.000 Now, I think presently you get Donald Trump on television often enough saying, look, it's the doctor, not the woman.
00:34:07.000 I would not punish the woman.
00:34:09.000 He'll eventually erase it.
00:34:11.000 But what happens when you're a rookie, and remember, as brilliant as he's been, as much as he is the frontrunner, this is the first time he's ever been in an election campaign.
00:34:20.000 And rookies make some mistakes as they're learning, and he's made over the last couple weeks three or four doozies.
00:34:26.000 They're not mistakes.
00:34:27.000 They're not errors.
00:34:28.000 That's who he is.
00:34:28.000 Donald Trump believes all these things, right?
00:34:30.000 And on abortion, the only thing he didn't believe was the first thing that he said.
00:34:34.000 And then he's all over the place.
00:34:47.000 But Newt Gingrich wants to be lied to, and he wants to believe that Donald Trump is deep down in his heart a Newt Gingrich guy, right?
00:34:54.000 Just like all these Trump voters want to believe that Trump is a Trump guy.
00:34:57.000 I get a lot of questions in the mailbag and on Twitter.
00:34:59.000 Why do I focus so much on Trump?
00:35:01.000 Why focus so much on Trump?
00:35:02.000 Why not focus on the other side of the aisle?
00:35:04.000 And the answer is because the left... I've been spending my entire life fighting people like Hillary Clinton, and for good reason, and for good reason.
00:35:10.000 Hillary Clinton is evil.
00:35:12.000 I mean, she believes evil things, and she does evil things.
00:35:15.000 For example, here's Hillary Clinton talking about unborn children.
00:35:18.000 We mentioned this up top.
00:35:18.000 Here's Hillary Clinton on abortion.
00:35:21.000 Well, under our laws, currently, that is not something that exists.
00:35:29.000 The unborn person doesn't have constitutional rights.
00:35:35.000 Now, that doesn't mean that we don't do everything we possibly can in the vast majority of
00:35:43.000 Okay, so we can cut her off.
00:35:53.000 When she says the unborn don't have constitutional rights, that's an amazing statement, right?
00:35:57.000 And so why don't I focus on that more?
00:35:59.000 Because I know that's what she thinks.
00:36:01.000 It's not in my party.
00:36:02.000 It's not in my party.
00:36:04.000 Okay, I'm not gonna... if I... there's a difference between
00:36:08.000 Somebody... I don't like, to go back to my analogy, meth-addicted bikers.
00:36:12.000 Not my thing.
00:36:14.000 Not my thing.
00:36:15.000 It becomes a slightly more dire issue, and I'm happy to talk about how meth-addicted bikers are a problem until the cows come home.
00:36:21.000 It becomes a different thing when my sister brings one home.
00:36:24.000 When my sister brings home a meth-addicted biker, I'm going to be slightly more perturbed than the fact that there are meth-addicted bikers.
00:36:30.000 Hillary Clinton is another meth-addicted biker, just like Trump.
00:36:33.000 She may be worse than Trump.
00:36:35.000 But my party isn't bringing her home.
00:36:38.000 My party is bringing Trump home.
00:36:39.000 And they're bringing home with Trump all of the people who are willing to watch him lie, and watch him just outright lie about facts, change the facts, and people who see that as a symbol of strength.
00:36:49.000 This is scary stuff.
00:36:50.000 It is scary to me when truth becomes a secondary priority to loyalty to a candidate.
00:36:55.000 When basic truth, basic truth, documented truth, on any issue, and it's not just the Lewandowski, it's all over the place,
00:37:04.000 When that becomes secondary to, I like Donald Trump, you got a problem.
00:37:07.000 As I've said before, idol worship is evil.
00:37:10.000 Idol worship is bad.
00:37:11.000 And Donald Trump is now an idol because you believe that if you make a sacrifice of truth on the altar to Donald Trump, then he will make it rain and your crops will grow.
00:37:19.000 It's not going to happen.
00:37:21.000 Because idols aren't real.
00:37:23.000 Idols aren't real.
00:37:25.000 But I guess that if you want a Cheeto-faced idol, then you can have one.
00:37:28.000 Alright, time for a thing I like and then a couple of things that I don't.
00:37:31.000 Okay, time for the thing that I like.
00:37:32.000 I'm in the middle of a very good book by Heather McDonald of the Manhattan Institute called The War on Cops.
00:37:37.000 And it is a it is a very good.
00:37:39.000 We may have a graphic of it, but it's it's a very good book.
00:37:42.000 And it basically talks about the Ferguson effect and why it is that the left attack on law enforcement is actually making people in the inner city less safe and raising crime rates.
00:37:52.000 This is something that deeply disturbs me.
00:37:53.000 I've talked about this at length on the program.
00:37:56.000 Yeah, I think that's very important for people who are conservative to understand why crime rates are rising again, why they fell in the first place.
00:38:04.000 I see a certain libertarian wing of the party that's willing to undermine law enforcement in order to push civil liberties.
00:38:11.000 Listen.
00:38:11.000 I like civil liberties too, but to pretend that imprisoning criminals has no correlation with lower crime rates is just silly.
00:38:18.000 The reality is that crime rates dropped from 94 to recently because there was an increased attention on longer sentencing and more focus on going after going after lower level criminals.
00:38:29.000 There was a crackdown on crime in the mid-90s, and it had impact all the way through until the last few years, and now it's reversing itself, and that's gonna have some dioramafications for people who wish to live in a free and prosperous society, because there are very few things I think the government ought to do.
00:38:44.000 One of those things, the government has to keep us safe, obviously.
00:38:46.000 So, good book, The War on Cops, Heather MacDonald.
00:38:49.000 Okay, a couple of things that I hate.
00:38:50.000 So beyond Donald Trump making a mockery of conservative positions on abortion and putting us behind the eight ball on abortion and on trade and on everything else, he also has trotted out some of the worst surrogates ever.
00:39:02.000 I mean, Sarah Palin has just been... SNL's job is very, very easy.
00:39:07.000 So Morning Joe, this is an example.
00:39:09.000 The media has a very easy job thanks to Donald Trump.
00:39:11.000 I don't like making their job easy because I think the media are horrible.
00:39:14.000 That's why, honestly, of all the people in the media, I may have the best record of going in against lefty hosts and hitting them.
00:39:22.000 Because I find them to be despicable, and they don't admit that they're lefty, and my goal in life is not to grant them red meat.
00:39:29.000 Donald Trump, all he does is grant them red meat, and so do his surrogates.
00:39:32.000 Sarah Palin spoke the other day, and this is how the media treat it, and I can't argue with the fact that Sarah Palin is now incoherent.
00:39:40.000 Here it is.
00:39:41.000 Illegal immigrants welcoming them in, even inducing and seducing them with gift baskets.
00:39:46.000 Come on over the border and here's a gift basket of teddy bears and soccer balls.
00:39:51.000 Our kids and our grandkids, they'll never know then what it is to be rewarded for that entrepreneurial spirit that God creates within us.
00:40:02.000 In order to work, and to produce, and to strive, and to thrive, and to really be alive.
00:40:08.000 Wisconsin, Reagan saved the hog.
00:40:12.000 Here, you're Harley Davidson.
00:40:14.000 It was Reagan who saved that.
00:40:18.000 In the establishment, maybe they're going to start a new hashtag movement.
00:40:21.000 Hashtag never Reagan.
00:40:24.000 They don't like that.
00:40:26.000 What?
00:40:28.000 What?
00:40:29.000 So here's my question.
00:40:31.000 Here's my question for you today.
00:40:33.000 Seriously.
00:40:33.000 And by the way, okay, here's another just final thing I hate with Donald Trump lie.
00:40:38.000 So Megyn Kelly was on TV and she was asked about Donald Trump.
00:40:42.000 And she says that ever since she came out as not being a pro-Trump host, she's been receiving lots of death threats, which I'm sure is true.
00:40:49.000 I mean, all of us have.
00:40:50.000 I sleep with a shotgun by my bed.
00:40:52.000 Seriously.
00:40:52.000 And so here's Megyn Kelly talking about all of that, right?
00:40:56.000 It's not so much what he writes or says, it's how he gins up anger among so many.
00:41:03.000 So it manifests in my life in several ways.
00:41:06.000 Have there been threats against your life?
00:41:10.000 Does that concern you?
00:41:11.000 It's not that I'm worried someone's actually going to come shoot me down, but I do worry someone's going to try to hurt me in the presence of my children.
00:41:20.000 Okay, and I think there are a lot of people who feel that way.
00:41:23.000 I know a lot of people personally who feel that way.
00:41:25.000 Donald Trump was asked about Megyn Kelly and why he was targeting her for criticism.
00:41:29.000 He said no reason.
00:41:30.000 Seriously, he said that today.
00:41:32.000 Today.
00:41:32.000 Just another lie that Donald Trump tells.
00:41:34.000 So let me ask you this.
00:41:35.000 With all of this.
00:41:37.000 He's lying about his positions.
00:41:38.000 He's lying about facts that are documented.
00:41:40.000 He's going after people and then daring you to challenge him that he's acting in response.
00:41:45.000 He's just lying back and forth and all over the place.
00:41:48.000 And again, we're the ones bringing him home, right?
00:41:49.000 We're the ones who are bringing him home to Mother.
00:41:52.000 Let me just ask this.
00:41:53.000 This guy?
00:41:54.000 Really?
00:41:55.000 Like, of all the available humans?
00:41:57.000 And there are lots of them, breathing, with functioning brains and limbic systems.
00:42:01.000 This one?
00:42:02.000 This is the one?
00:42:04.000 Like, this guy?
00:42:06.000 Him?
00:42:07.000 This one?
00:42:08.000 Really?
00:42:09.000 And his surrogates, like the guy who brings Sarah Palin and Ben Carson to the party.
00:42:13.000 Right, that guy.
00:42:14.000 That's the one you want as the representative for your ideology in a crucial election.
00:42:18.000 That's the one you desperately want, you need.
00:42:20.000 You need him, because he's gonna fight for you.
00:42:22.000 He's the only one who loves you this way.
00:42:23.000 He's the only one who's gonna take care of you.
00:42:26.000 You know how you know how much he loves you?
00:42:28.000 You know he loves you so much that he'll lie for you.
00:42:30.000 He'll lie to everyone for you, but he won't lie to you.
00:42:32.000 He promises.
00:42:34.000 He promises, and his promises are worth everything.
00:42:36.000 They're gold.
00:42:37.000 Unlike his promises to every other person on earth, his promises to you, those are the ones that he's definitely going to hold true to.
00:42:44.000 If you believe that, then there's a part of you that wants to be lied to, just like Obama's followers wanted to be lied to about how he would make America a hope-y, change-y place, just like Hillary Clinton's followers want to be lied to.
00:42:55.000 There's a whole group of people who want to be lied to.
00:42:57.000 Trump is not bringing your job back to Ohio that was shipped overseas because of your unionization.
00:43:02.000 Trump is not going to make the economy better by raising prices for everyone.
00:43:06.000 Trump is not going to make our military stronger by issuing random threats based on no knowledge whatsoever.
00:43:11.000 Trump is not going to make your life better because he says impolitic things.
00:43:16.000 Trump is about Trump.
00:43:18.000 He always has been about Trump.
00:43:20.000 And for you to pretend otherwise, for anyone to pretend otherwise, is an act of foolishness.
00:43:24.000 Again, loyalty to principle.
00:43:26.000 I can't say this enough.
00:43:27.000 Loyalty to principle above loyalty to politician.
00:43:30.000 That's all that matters.
00:43:31.000 And what I hate about this is that you're watching the conservative movement swirl the drain because they've decided to leech themselves to a toxic candidate and a toxic man.
00:43:40.000 Like Donald Trump.
00:43:42.000 Well, we're off tomorrow.
00:43:43.000 We will be back Wednesday with much, much more, because there's always more.
00:43:47.000 Donald Trump is a headline machine, so I'm sure there'll be a lot more to talk about.
00:43:50.000 And hopefully there'll be things to talk about, except for Donald Trump.
00:43:53.000 And by the way, I saw Batman vs. Superman a second time last night.
00:43:56.000 It's still great.
00:43:56.000 Yeah, I know Jonathan.
00:43:58.000 I know Mathis.
00:43:59.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:44:00.000 Mathis hasn't seen it, so he can't talk.
00:44:01.000 Jonathan, you're just wrong.
00:44:03.000 You're just wrong.
00:44:04.000 Liking Marvel movies more than—whatever.
00:44:07.000 We'll save that.
00:44:07.000 We'll save that for another time.
00:44:09.000 Maybe for the mailbag.
00:44:10.000 We'll do something on Wednesday about it.
00:44:11.000 And we'll be back then.
00:44:13.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:44:14.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
