00:00:00.000 Sometimes it's not a mystery.
00:00:01.000 Sometimes it's not racism.
00:00:03.000 Sometimes teenagers kill people because they believe and do bad things and then they are punished by the law.
00:00:08.000 So we were told by all the best people that Carmelo Anthony was somehow a victim.
00:00:14.000 And that includes people like James Tellerico.
00:00:17.000 Again, James Tellerico is running for Senate in Texas and he is running competitively.
00:00:21.000 The last few polls showed James Tellerico up in Texas, which is why this is important.
00:00:26.000 Here was James Tellerico just a few weeks ago talking about the conviction of Carmelo Anthony.
00:00:32.000 Carmelo Anthony, you'll recall, was the teenager Who murdered Austin Metcalf?
00:00:36.000 They're in a tent while it was raining before a game, and he wasn't supposed to be in that tent.
00:00:40.000 Carmelo Anthony and Austin Metcalf and others told him to leave because he wasn't from the school, and he decided that would be a great time to pull a knife out of his backpack and stab Austin Metcalf to death.
00:00:48.000 And then he was convicted of murder.
00:00:50.000 Well, James Tellerico then went on the Breakfast Club with Charlemagne and explained that Carmelo Anthony's conviction was because of American racism.
00:01:01.000 Now, you said in your state of Texas, we see what happened with Carmelo Anthony, and you said it was a tragedy.
00:01:06.000 Yeah.
00:01:07.000 What did you mean by that?
00:01:08.000 Well, I've done a lot of work in the State House on justice reform, and right now we've got a system that doesn't serve all Americans equally.
00:01:16.000 And we know that black Texans have not gotten the justice they deserve in many cases.
00:01:24.000 And I'm not an expert on this particular case, but I know that there were no black members of the jury.
00:01:29.000 And to me, that's the only evidence you need to really prove that this system is not working for black Texans.
00:01:40.000 Howdy Doody Doll says that there aren't enough Black Texans on the jury, and therefore Carmelo Anthony was somehow victimized in all of this.
00:01:48.000 And again, this ties into a broader perspective in American life, which is that Black people are routinely being victimized by quote unquote the system.
00:01:54.000 Sandra Bullock, who has adopted Black teenagers, she was out there saying the same thing.
00:02:01.000 Here she was on with Hoda on the Today Show.
00:02:09.000 Different, this, you know, and I have to see everything through her eyes, and I'm uber paranoid.
00:02:14.000 And they will tell you, I'm like, they're like, Mom, it's going to be fine.
00:02:16.000 I'm like, It's not fine.
00:02:18.000 It's not fine outside.
00:02:19.000 But, you know, I'm now learning to trust them because if I've done an okay job, even if I've just done an okay job, where they are now is extraordinary.
00:02:30.000 The energy that is floating around our country in our world again, the color of their skin, they're my babies, they're my life, but no one knows that when they leave my house.
00:02:40.000 So that is always.
00:02:42.000 In the forefront of my mind.
00:02:44.000 And I can't, I've got to stop thinking about it so much because I think we've had all the conversations.
00:02:49.000 They know.
00:02:50.000 I think they're going to, they know.
00:02:50.000 Yeah.
00:02:51.000 They know.
00:02:54.000 I mean, she literally says her kids are telling her everything's okay.
00:02:56.000 And she, the white lady, is telling them, no, no, no, no, honey.
00:02:59.000 Things are going to be really bad.
00:03:01.000 Again, we can look in the polling data in the United States when race relations started to turn the wrong way because most Americans, black and white, thought race relations were moving in a positive direction all the way up till 2013, 2014.
00:03:13.000 And then it all fell off a cliff.
00:03:15.000 And now, their entire political structure is built atop the lie that America is a deeply and horribly racist place.
00:03:22.000 And an enormous amount of this is just built on bad narrative.
00:03:27.000 It's just built on a bad set of facts.
00:03:28.000 We'll get to more on this in a second.
00:03:30.000 First, let's be real.
00:03:32.000 You need to sleep better.
00:03:33.000 We all need to sleep better.
00:03:34.000 Okay.
00:03:34.000 When it comes to what's going on right now in my home, sleep is hard to come by because my wife is nursing the baby.
00:03:40.000 We're getting the baby to bed late.
00:03:41.000 And once I get on the mattress, I need to go to sleep.
00:03:43.000 I don't need to roll around.
00:03:44.000 I don't need to feel uncomfortable.
00:03:45.000 I need to go to sleep.
00:03:46.000 And this is why I rely on my Helix Sleep mattress because, again, It was programmed just for me.

00:04:32.000 That's helixleep.com slash Ben.
00:04:34.000 So, Carmelo Anthony, back to that.
00:04:36.000 We now have access to his texts, videos of him, and it turns out that he was a person with extraordinarily violent thoughts.
00:04:47.000 According to the UK Daily Mail, the material was never shown to jurors because a controversial gentleman's agreement saw prosecutors and defense attorneys agree not to present negative evidence from either teenager's background at trial.
00:04:57.000 Apparently, there were comments by Austin Metcalf on his social media that would have reflected poorly on him to the jury.
00:05:02.000 Okay, but.
00:05:03.000 That really isn't the issue.
00:05:04.000 The issue is, you know, the guy who stabbed him to death.
00:05:08.000 According to the Daily Mail, Anthony can be seen shirtless posing with a handgun in a screenshot from a video he recorded in November 2024, five months before the killing.
00:05:16.000 Here's an image.
00:05:17.000 Here's the screenshot of him with the handgun.
00:05:19.000 And then there's another image that was taken May 5th, 2024.
00:05:24.000 He's seen holding an AK 47 style rifle while standing alongside three other teenagers.
00:05:28.000 He was 16 at the time.
00:05:30.000 Now, again, there are lots of teenagers across America who have pictures holding guns.
00:05:35.000 I mean, hopefully, in more responsible fashion than Carmelo Anthony is holding in these guns in these photos.
00:05:41.000 But again, that is not the only evidence here.
00:05:43.000 There's a third incident in which Anthony took video of himself pointing a gun at a house before running away January 4th, 2025, unclear whose home he was targeting.
00:05:52.000 And then there are a series of texts that Anthony sent to his girlfriend, Valeria Perez, in March 2025, in which he wrote, I effing despise black B words.
00:06:01.000 Ah, I do not like black B words.
00:06:03.000 All that wiggly getting to the effing brain.
00:06:06.000 Effing N words, they need to go die.
00:06:08.000 And then, of course, he was writing about effing gay people are effing everything up.
00:06:14.000 He had some bizarre commentary about President Trump and Joe Biden.
00:06:17.000 He suggested that Joe Biden, who he called an N word, was gay as balls.
00:06:22.000 He said, I like Trump, better not go cap.
00:06:26.000 And he hates gay people and all the rest.
00:06:29.000 The most important exchange, of course, is the fact that he apparently was engaged in criminality.
00:06:33.000 In October 2024, he told his girlfriend that he would go to jail for burglary after claiming he stole a watch from a neighbor.
00:06:40.000 He texted her and she wrote back, shut up.
00:06:42.000 Don't say that.
00:06:43.000 Don't do this to me.
00:06:45.000 He also said in November 2024 that he had taken a gun and a knife to school.
00:06:50.000 So, in other words, there are only about a thousand red flags here.
00:06:52.000 And herein lies the problem.
00:06:54.000 Herein lies the problem.
00:06:55.000 We are a society that is so addicted to narrative that we overlook the actual case circumstance.
00:07:00.000 I've said this about every criminal case I can remember.
00:07:02.000 Look at the actual evidence in any case, and you are likely to come to a better conclusion than if you don't look at the evidence.
00:07:10.000 And if the narrative matters more than the evidence, if you're James Tallarico, Trotting around trying to win the black vote in Texas by saying that Carmelo Anthony is a victim of the system.
00:07:18.000 You are doing something wrong, like morally wrong.
00:07:21.000 You should not spin fact patterns to fit your narrative.
00:07:25.000 It is a mistake to do that, a moral mistake.
00:07:27.000 What an amazing video you just watched.
00:07:29.000 Wasn't that amazing?
