The Ben Shapiro Show

Happy Birthing Person’s Day! | Ep. 1252

Summary

On today's show, Ben Shapiro takes a look at the new Orwellian term, "woke," and explains how Democrats are redefining all of human language in order to get their point across. He also points out that this is just the latest in a long line of bizarre Democratic redefinition efforts that have been going on for years, including the redefinition of the term "maternal mortality" and the redefining of the terms "court packing" and "cuffing" by the media, and how they re redefining the words we all understand and all know, and then they get pissed at you when you question them. Ben Shapiro is the host of the show "The Ben Shapiro Show" on the Ringer and host of "The Daily Wire" and has been a regular contributor on CNN and the New York Times. He's also the author of the book "The War on Women" and co-host of the podcast "The Nightly Show with Alex Castellanos" and is a frequent contributor on NPR's Morning Mashup. 00:00:00.000 Democrats roll out their newest Orwellian woke term.
00:00:03.000 President Biden decides to destroy the companies that just saved America from the pandemic.
00:00:07.000 And the Biden administration has no idea the taxpayers actually pay the bills.
00:00:10.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:11.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:21.000 Stand up for your digital rights, take action at expressvpn.com.
00:00:24.000 Slash Ben will get to all the news in just one moment.
00:00:26.000 First, your cell phone bill does not have to be as expensive as it is.
00:00:29.000 It is just that simple.
00:00:30.000 There's no reason for you to overpay for your cell phone coverage from a place like Verizon or AT&T or T-Mobile.
00:00:35.000 Switch over to PeerTalk.
00:00:36.000 It's going to save you money.
00:00:37.000 In fact, PeerTalk saves the average family of four over $800 a year.
00:00:41.000 Here's the best part.
00:00:42.000 You don't have to sacrifice coverage because it's on the exact same network as one of those providers.
00:00:46.000 Switching is super easy.
00:00:47.000 You can keep your phone, keep your number, or get huge discounts on the latest iPhones and Androids.
00:00:51.000 Right now, you can get unlimited talk, text, and 6 gigs of data for just $30 a month.
00:00:56.000 And if you go over on data, they're not going to charge you for it.
00:00:58.000 Just one of the many reasons they've been named the top wireless provider by Consumer Affairs.
00:01:02.000 From your cell phone, dial pound 250, say Ben Shapiro, you'll save 50% off your very first month.
00:01:07.000 That is pound 250.
00:01:09.000 Say my name, Ben Shapiro, to get started right now.
00:01:11.000 You're probably talking with your cell phone provider and they're telling you, well, you know, you really need unlimited text and you need unlimited talk and you need unlimited data.
00:01:18.000 You don't need unlimited data.
00:01:18.000 What you need is unlimited talk text, six gigs of data for 30 bucks a month.
00:01:21.000 And again, if you go over with Pure Talk, they're not going to charge you for it.
00:01:24.000 So you got nothing to lose.
00:01:25.000 Dial pound 250.
00:01:26.000 Say Ben Shapiro to get started with my friends at Pure Talk USA today.
00:01:30.000 Okay.
00:01:31.000 Democrats have decided to basically rewrite all of human language in real time, and it is a bizarre spectacle.
00:01:37.000 And if you notice this, then they get very angry at you.
00:01:40.000 This is the full extent of gaslighting.
00:01:42.000 Over and over in the past few years, we've seen Democrats take terms that we all understand and all know, and then just switch the meaning of the terms.
00:01:49.000 And then if you notice, they get super pissed at you.
00:01:51.000 So for example, if the Democrats say, let's add seats to the Supreme Court, And Republicans say, okay, that's court packing.
00:01:57.000 They say, no, no, no, no.
00:01:58.000 Court packing is when you fill open seats, but you're a Republican.
00:02:03.000 And conservatives are like, wait, hold up a second.
00:02:05.000 That's not what court packing means.
00:02:07.000 And the entire media suddenly starts repeating.
00:02:10.000 Like that.
00:02:11.000 Incredibly quickly.
00:02:12.000 The Democrats' redefinition of the term court-packing.
00:02:14.000 Or, for example, you have somebody like Mazie Hirono, the idiot senator from Hawaii, Democrat, who says to Amy Coney Barrett that the term sexual preference is now a discriminatory term used against gay people, as opposed to sexual orientation.
00:02:28.000 Then the dictionary, dictionary.com, will switch its definition overnight.
00:02:32.000 So suddenly the term sexual preference will be offensive to some people, right?
00:02:36.000 They'll actually say it's offensive.
00:02:38.000 Just because Democrats said so.
00:02:40.000 And they've been doing this over and over.
00:02:42.000 And to the point where words have no definitions anymore.
00:02:45.000 I mean, we have seen over and over, for example, that Democrats have no definition of the word female.
00:02:49.000 The word female has no definition to them.
00:02:52.000 They refuse to acknowledge that female refers to a biological female.
00:02:55.000 In fact, female is a category that you can join simply by saying that you are one, which is an amazing way to define a category.
00:03:02.000 You can't define a word typically with reference to the word.
00:03:05.000 If I say, you know what the definition of pen is?
00:03:08.000 A pen is a pen.
00:03:09.000 I've added no new information.
00:03:11.000 You have no idea what the hell I'm talking about if you didn't know what a pen was in the first place.
00:03:15.000 Well, Democrats do this with language all the time, and we are being forced into ever more bizarre Redefinitions of normal human language.
00:03:24.000 All of this does have an impact, by the way.
00:03:26.000 It means we can't speak to each other.
00:03:27.000 Because if I use the word woman, and you're a Democrat, and you buy into the redefinition of the word woman, you literally have no idea what I'm talking about.
00:03:34.000 And if you use the word woman, I have no idea what you're talking about, because you could mean a dude.
00:03:38.000 Right?
00:03:39.000 Which is the opposite.
00:03:40.000 Okay, so.
00:03:41.000 This reared its weird head yesterday in a congressional hearing about health disparities, particularly with regard to maternal mortality, for example.
00:03:52.000 And Democrats have started to use the term, just in time for Mother's Day, they've started to use the term birthing persons.
00:03:58.000 You understand, not every birthing person, according to Democrats, is a woman.
00:04:02.000 Now, according to all human biology, in fact, all mammalian biology, birthing things are female, right?
00:04:09.000 If you birth a thing, definitionally, you are a female, according to all mammalian biology of which we know.
00:04:17.000 Because mammals are sexually dimorphic.
00:04:20.000 To pretend otherwise is to ignore basic human biology.
00:04:24.000 So to say birthing person instead of woman is meant to say there are some men who give birth.
00:04:29.000 This, of course, is incredibly silly because men do not give birth.
00:04:32.000 It is very difficult, as it turns out, to grow a baby without a uterus or to force a baby through your urinal canal as a dude.
00:04:39.000 If you think a kidney stone is bad, try pushing a 10-pound child out of there.
00:04:43.000 Okay, so all of this is incredibly silly, but Democrats have decided to adopt this language because, of course, they have this perverse view of science, that science is basically whatever they say it is, without regard to data and without regard to biology.
00:04:56.000 And if you point out that you need some sort of objective metric to determine whether a male is a male or a female is a female, they get very angry at you.
00:05:02.000 Male and female are just subjective categories in your head, but they're also deeply ingrained biologically.
00:05:08.000 Understand the contradiction here.
00:05:09.000 According to members of the left, you are a female if you think you are a female because that is ingrained in your brain.
00:05:15.000 But also, your brain biology has nothing to do with whether you are a male or female, and your bodily biology has nothing to do with whether you are a male or a female.
00:05:24.000 It's ghost in the machine, Cartesian duality, nonsense.
00:05:28.000 Okay, so, all of this came to fruition yesterday, just in time for Mother's Day.
00:05:32.000 Now, I've been here for years, joking, and it drives people on the left, on the internet, crazy.
00:05:36.000 Because, ah, why are you even joking about this?
00:05:38.000 Every Mother's Day and every Father's Day, instead of tweeting, happy Father's Day or happy Mother's Day, I tweet out, for Mother's Day, happy primary guardian of unspecified gender.
00:05:48.000 Because, according to the left, mothers don't really exist.
00:05:50.000 There are just people who can play the role of mothers, and that could theoretically be a dude, or it could be a lady who identifies as a dude, or it could be a dude who identifies as a lady.
00:05:57.000 It could literally be anything.
00:05:59.000 There's nothing special about mothers.
00:06:00.000 There's nothing special about fathers, according to members of the left.
00:06:03.000 This is not a fringe idea.
00:06:05.000 This is a mainstream idea.
00:06:06.000 A child does not need a mother, and a child does not need a father.
00:06:09.000 A child doesn't need...
00:06:11.000 Either one, right?
00:06:12.000 A child can have just a father and be fine, can have just a mother and can be fine, can have two mommies, can have two daddies.
00:06:16.000 They're all the same.
00:06:17.000 Human beings are interchangeable.
00:06:18.000 Widgets and children are completely malleable and are fine under any circumstances, right?
00:06:22.000 This has been a long held democratic philosophy.
00:06:25.000 And now they've gone even further, which is that a mother could be a father or a father could be a mother and a man could be a woman and a woman could be a man.
00:06:30.000 So they finally came out with this yesterday, just in time for Mother's Day.
00:06:33.000 So moms everywhere, you should feel really flattered.
00:06:36.000 You may not be a woman.
00:06:37.000 You're just a birthing person.
00:06:38.000 The same people who wear handmaid's tails outfits to protest Republican abortion policy because they say Republicans keep reducing us to our reproductive organs.
00:06:48.000 They keep reducing us down to our reproductive abilities.
00:06:51.000 Call women birthing persons now.
00:06:54.000 That's what they call them.
00:06:55.000 And it wasn't just one congressperson.
00:06:57.000 This is going to be the term within the next several months.
00:07:01.000 You are going to see Democrats adopting this term in widespread fashion.
00:07:04.000 So, Cori Bush, the adjunct member of the squad, she just joined from Missouri.
00:07:08.000 She's a former Black Lives Matter activist.
00:07:10.000 I mean, she actually is still a Black Lives Matter activist.
00:07:11.000 She's just in Congress.
00:07:12.000 Now, she's talking about how birthing persons are dying.
00:07:17.000 Now, to you, the normal human being, who, like all humans, like all homo sapiens for the last 300,000 years or so, I've understood that birthing persons are female.
00:07:26.000 You may say to yourself, why are we now conveying less information?
00:07:30.000 Why are we trying to obscure information that is clearly obvious?
00:07:34.000 Why don't you say moms?
00:07:36.000 Instead, you, a mother, are now a birthing person, according to Cori Bush.
00:07:41.000 Every day, black women are subjected to harsh and racist treatment during pregnancy and childbirth.
00:07:47.000 Every day, black women die because the system denies our humanity.
00:07:50.000 It denies us patient care.
00:07:52.000 I sit before you today as a single mom, as a nurse, as an activist, and as a congresswoman, and I am committed to doing the absolute most to protect black mothers, to protect black babies, to protect black birthing people, and to save lives.
00:08:09.000 Okay, black birthing people.
00:08:11.000 Okay, then she tweeted out, everyday black birthing people and our babies die.
00:08:14.000 So she used mothers there like ten times and women.
00:08:16.000 So she fully understands that birthing people are mothers and are women.
00:08:19.000 Right?
00:08:20.000 She totally gets it.
00:08:21.000 But instead, what she tweets is, everyday black birthing people and our babies die.
00:08:25.000 And this is the new term.
00:08:26.000 Right?
00:08:26.000 The new term is birthing people.
00:08:29.000 Again, I can't think of much more degrading to a woman than to suggest, number one, that the process of pregnancy and childbearing has nothing to do with being a woman, and simultaneously to suggest that you can be boiled down to just bearing babies.
00:08:41.000 Like, it is the exact opposite of what feminism suggested.
00:08:44.000 Feminism suggested that women are different than men, and women ought to be respected for that, and treated equally, despite that difference, and in fact, because of that difference.
00:08:55.000 Feminism suggested there's something special about being a woman.
00:08:57.000 The new feminism is there's nothing special about being a woman, and in fact, men can give birth.
00:09:02.000 All of which is just ridiculous.
00:09:03.000 Now, I've watched my wife give birth three times.
00:09:05.000 It turns out it's a very female thing.
00:09:07.000 It's a pretty amazing thing.
00:09:08.000 It's a superpower that women hold.
00:09:10.000 And she's a grade.
00:09:12.000 Womanhood down to nothing is really incredible.
00:09:16.000 We've been told by the feminist left of today that the highest achievement that a woman can have is to never have kids, apparently, and to just spend your time working 2200 hours at a law firm so you can have a partner title the same as a man.
00:09:29.000 And delay childbearing, delay childrearing, delay marriage is the best move that you can make.
00:09:34.000 If you finally do have a baby, you should probably freeze your eggs and then do it much later so you can have your career development.
00:09:40.000 You don't need a man to do any of this sort of stuff.
00:09:42.000 Now, the amazing thing about this is that the people who then end up getting married and having kids are the people who promote this same ideology.
00:09:49.000 The members of the new ruling class, this is the point that Charles Murray makes in Coming Apart, the people who are higher on the economic totem pole, those folks tend to get married and have kids.
00:09:59.000 It's just all the stuff they preach filters into the culture, and it undermines marriage, and it undermines childbearing under healthy circumstances, and it's really stupid.
00:10:07.000 But this is something that the left has been pushing for a long time, and now it's come to its culmination in de-sexing having children.
00:10:14.000 Now it is a sexless thing to have children, which is an amazing, amazing thing.
00:10:19.000 And again, it was not just Cori Bush.
00:10:20.000 Representative Carolyn Maloney from New York, she says the same thing.
00:10:24.000 America's health system is failing black birthing people.
00:10:28.000 How does one of the most medically advanced nations in the world continue to fail black birthing people at such high rates?
00:10:39.000 To understand, we have to take the blinders off our history and acknowledge that our healthcare system, including reproductive healthcare, was built on a legacy of systemic racism.
00:10:52.000 Okay, in a second I'm going to talk about the systemic racism point, but the fact that she just keeps saying black birthing... You mean black women?
00:10:57.000 Why are you being so disrespectful to women?
00:10:59.000 I, honest to God, don't understand how women could look at this stuff and not feel insulted.
00:11:03.000 It's ridiculous.
00:11:05.000 It's just...
00:11:08.000 It's beyond crazy, but we're all supposed to believe it, right?
00:11:11.000 And if you notice this, they get mad.
00:11:13.000 If you notice it, it's like, why are you even noticing this?
00:11:15.000 I'm noticing it because you guys are radically redefining biology.
00:11:18.000 You're radically redefining reality in front of me, and I'm supposed to just be there like, ugh, who cares?
00:11:23.000 Representative Robin Kelly from Illinois, she says the exact same thing during the same hearing.
00:11:27.000 So obviously the memo went around.
00:11:29.000 It's no longer black women.
00:11:30.000 It is black birthing people.
00:11:32.000 The federal government should support access to They're all looking at their notes, by the way.
00:11:49.000 The fact that they keep using the term birthing people, the memo went around.
00:11:49.000 You can stop it there.
00:11:53.000 Don't offend people of the left who have to virtue signal about the idea that men could be women.
00:11:58.000 So just to get this straight, according to the left, here's how human biology works.
00:12:01.000 You ready for this?
00:12:02.000 According to the left, birthing people If this makes any sense to you, it's because you're a moron.
00:12:08.000 And then those clusters of cells exit the birthing people and they are assigned sex at birth.
00:12:08.000 Honest to God.
00:12:13.000 They don't have a sex, they're assigned it by a doctor.
00:12:16.000 The doctor just looks at them and randomly, and then just assign sex at birth.
00:12:19.000 And then later they decide their own sex.
00:12:23.000 If this makes any sense to you, it's because you're a moron.
00:12:25.000 Honest to God, if this makes any sense to you, it's because you have been so well-educated in the new woke vocabulary at major American universities that you've lost your mind.
00:12:35.000 It is denial of fundamental human reality.
00:12:38.000 It is denial of biology.
00:12:39.000 And it does have consequences.
00:12:41.000 The consequences, some of them are smaller and some of them are larger.
00:12:45.000 Okay, so according to the left, mothers are just birthing people.
00:12:48.000 They are not special.
00:12:49.000 It has nothing to do with being a woman.
00:12:51.000 Which is, again, deeply insulting to women.
00:12:53.000 So there are three separate problems with this for American society.
00:12:58.000 Problem number one is sort of the small-scale stuff that tends to make it into the media a lot because it is the most obviously ridiculous element of American society that has bought into this.
00:13:08.000 And these small-scale cases are things like transgender people using the opposite-sex bathroom.
00:13:08.000 Okay?
00:13:12.000 It's people like a big hulking man walks into a ladies room at Target and then says, I'm a woman, and a woman feels uncomfortable.
00:13:19.000 And then the left says, how dare you feel uncomfortable?
00:13:22.000 How dare you believe that this is an invasion of your private space?
00:13:26.000 Or it materializes in boys Biological boys wanting to play in women's sport, and then defeat the girls, right?
00:13:34.000 As we saw at these Connecticut track meets where suddenly boys, biological teenage boys, were blowing away the girls at the track meets, but they identified as girls, so we had to pretend that they were girls, right?
00:13:42.000 We see these sort of cases.
00:13:43.000 They are statistically rare.
00:13:45.000 They are not, indeed, happening everywhere.
00:13:47.000 That's not the chief threat here.
00:13:49.000 And to pretend that that is the chief problem with this entire Idiotic gender ideology is to mistake a symptom for the actual problem.
00:13:58.000 The symptom is not the actual problem.
00:13:59.000 The symptom's not great, and the symptom is stupid, and the symptom is demonstrative of the underlying problem, but it is not the actual problem.
00:14:05.000 So, for example, a lot of attention being paid to the fact that there is the Summer Olympics in Tokyo is coming, and there will be a transgender weightlifter named Laurel Hubbard who's favored to win the women's medal for New Zealand.
00:14:18.000 According to the UK Guardian, while Hubbard's presence on the New Zealand team has not been made official, an International Weightlifting Federation insider confirmed to the Guardian that she, and this is the Guardian reporting because I use biological pronouns, so this is a he, would automatically qualify because of amended rules approved by the International Olympic Committee.
00:14:34.000 Current IOC guidelines dictate that transgender athletes can participate in the female categories without undergoing surgery so long as their total testosterone level in serum is kept below 10 nanomoles per liter for at least 12 months, a rule followed by the IWF.
00:14:47.000 Hubbard lived as a man for 35 years before identifying as a transgender woman and did not win any international weightlifting titles until transitioning until 2012.
00:14:55.000 Well, there's a shock because it turns out that being a 35-year-old dude who's like a mediocre weightlifter means that you're a world-class female weightlifter because men ain't built the same as women.
00:15:04.000 Okay, that's just the reality of the situation.
00:15:06.000 In the same way, the average man will throw a baseball maybe 45, 50 miles an hour, 55 miles an hour.
00:15:14.000 That's not super fast.
00:15:15.000 That is faster than 99% of women throw a baseball.
00:15:18.000 Okay, so pretending that the man is a woman doesn't make the man a woman.
00:15:22.000 And a lower testosterone level for 12 months obviously doesn't change the math all that much.
00:15:26.000 So, that is the symptomatic stuff.
00:15:28.000 But is that the really serious threat to society?
00:15:30.000 No.
00:15:31.000 There are two really serious threats to society.
00:15:33.000 One is part and parcel of a greater threat that has arrived with regard to the family, that when you redefine family entirely, when you suggest that the nuclear family is the problem, which has been a hallmark of leftist thought since Karl Marx and before, the idea that the nuclear family is an obstacle to self-fulfillment, That your parents, your father, and your mother having different gender roles, that this is a barrier to your self-development.
00:15:59.000 This has been a long time part of thought.
00:16:00.000 I mean, it's a reason why the Communist Manifesto says the destruction of the nuclear family is necessary in order so that we can remold all of society.
00:16:07.000 It turns out that human beings have a natural attachment to the nuclear family unit.
00:16:11.000 Human beings have a natural attachment to their wives or to their husbands.
00:16:14.000 They have a natural attachment that is greater than their other attachments to their children.
00:16:18.000 I don't care about other people's kids as much as I care about my kids.
00:16:20.000 And if you say that you do, you're a liar.
00:16:22.000 Hey, the reality is that you are most attached to the people with whom you share a family unit.
00:16:26.000 You're most attached to your wife, you're most attached to your husband, and your wife and husband pairs typically produce natural-born children to whom they are greatly attached.
00:16:34.000 This is just the reality of human biology.
00:16:37.000 This is what members of the religious community would call natural law.
00:16:40.000 It doesn't mean it's actually in law.
00:16:42.000 Natural law just means that there's a reality to the world around you, and you can discover the best way to live by looking at the reality around you.
00:16:49.000 Okay, so nuclear family matters an awful lot, and people who want to redesign society in tremendous ways believe the nuclear family's an obstacle.
00:16:55.000 It's why Black Lives Matter says destruction of the nuclear family is something that they are into.
00:16:59.000 It's why Democrats have tried to substitute government for the father.
00:17:02.000 It's what they did in the 1960s.
00:17:05.000 And they're doing so still today.
00:17:06.000 They say they want to help families, but then they want to completely redefine the family unit by pretending you don't need a mom, or you don't need a dad, or the government can step in for a mom or a dad, or family units can be randomly redefined.
00:17:15.000 And then they look around, they go, wait, no kids are being born.
00:17:18.000 Yeah, that's true.
00:17:19.000 You know why no kids are being born?
00:17:21.000 Because in order for kids to be born, you have to have a commitment to the idea of a family in the first place.
00:17:26.000 This doesn't mean that there can't be other forms of family that have kids.
00:17:29.000 There are.
00:17:30.000 Gay couples adopt, for example, or have surrogate kids, or kids through surrogates.
00:17:34.000 You have single people who are adopting, or people who are having birth out of wedlock.
00:17:38.000 But the main way that you are going to increase birth rates in a society is to have a stable family unit capable of raising many children at once.
00:17:46.000 It turns out, raising kids is super hard work.
00:17:48.000 And it turns out you need a mom and a dad to really do that with a lot of children.
00:17:53.000 You can have exceptions to that rule, but that is, in fact, the rule.
00:17:56.000 And when you undermine the family unit, when you pretend that men are women and women are men, and women and men don't need each other, and that you can generate all this stuff in a lab, or that the government can fill in, what you end up with is declining birth rates.
00:18:07.000 And then, the solution to declining birth rates, according to these folks, is not to go back to a more traditional view of what men and women do.
00:18:15.000 And none of that is to say that women have to stay in the home, and that women can't go to work.
00:18:19.000 My wife and I have three kids.
00:18:20.000 We make provision for my three kids so my wife can work when she wants to work, which is the way that, you know, we have chosen to live our lives.
00:18:27.000 When I was growing up, my mom went to work and my dad stayed home.
00:18:29.000 You make these sorts of bargains in everyday life, but that does not change the fundamental basis of a nuclear family.
00:18:35.000 And there's a reason why religious families, who are very committed to basic, fundamental family structure, have many, many more children than people who are committed to the idea that families can randomly be assembled from any sort of randomly generated assemblage of parts.
00:18:51.000 Hey, there's a reason why we have a Father's Day and a Mother's Day.
00:18:53.000 It's because, typically speaking, a child needs a mother and a father, and a mother and a father are well-equipped to have many natural children who they then raise together.
00:19:00.000 That is the goal, right?
00:19:01.000 That has always been the goal of not only Western societies, but most societies over the course of time.
00:19:07.000 But the solution now is because the left has gone too far here, because the left has helped destroy family structure, their solution is not, let's go back to a more traditional notion of how we support families.
00:19:18.000 Now, their idea is, what if government helped?
00:19:21.000 What if government came in and helped, right?
00:19:22.000 So instead of going back to men, women, they need each other, they produce natural children.
00:19:27.000 Instead of that, they're like, well, what if the government just did it?
00:19:29.000 So I have a piece by Catherine Rample over at the Washington Post, noting the US economy needs more kids.
00:19:34.000 Yeah, no bleep.
00:19:35.000 That's true.
00:19:35.000 The US economy does need more kids.
00:19:37.000 You know what used to provide lots of kids?
00:19:39.000 The nuclear family in a traditional religious community.
00:19:41.000 That used to provide lots of kids.
00:19:42.000 You know what still provides a lot of kids?
00:19:44.000 The nuclear family in a traditionally religious community.
00:19:46.000 The average number of kids in my community, in the Orthodox Jewish community, is minimum four.
00:19:50.000 Okay, that is, like, my wife and I have three.
00:19:55.000 With the help of God, we'll have more.
00:19:58.000 If we have fewer than five or six, we are on the low end of the Orthodox Jewish community.
00:20:02.000 If you go into the Mormon community, a very religious community, the number of kids and families over there, it ain't two.
00:20:07.000 They're reproducing at well above replacement rates.
00:20:10.000 If you go into traditional Catholic families, the same thing is true.
00:20:12.000 You'll see six, seven, eight kids.
00:20:15.000 That is not merely because of ideological objections to contraception in some cases.
00:20:21.000 That's really because of an ideological commitment to the basic idea, which is that men and women are meant to be together and then have children together.
00:20:27.000 Right?
00:20:27.000 Religious people take seriously both the biblical injunction to be fruitful and multiply, but also the natural law injunction that this is sort of what you're here to do, is to produce the future generation and raise that future generation.
00:20:37.000 And it's amazing to me that we have created a society where the most important thing that you do as a human being, which is to have children and pass on good values to those children to build for the future, has become something that we discard as, you know, it's just something birthing people do.
00:20:51.000 It's just something birthing people do.
00:20:52.000 It's not an important part of life.
00:20:53.000 It's just something you could do or you could not do.
00:20:55.000 Your choice.
00:20:56.000 Now, it's a free country, it is your choice, but we should be encouraging that choice.
00:21:00.000 Instead, we have an entire society that has decided that that choice is stupid, and then there are consequences to that, right?
00:21:05.000 So when I mentioned the consequences that are kind of fringy, then you have the consequences that are real, like declining birth rate.
00:21:11.000 That is a result of the sexual revolution.
00:21:13.000 That is a result of the rethinking of male and female roles.
00:21:16.000 That is a result of the rethinking of the nuclear family and the nuclear family structure, and how many kids people think people ought to have.
00:21:22.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second.
00:21:24.000 First, let us talk about the fact That if you are a dude, one thing that is very painful as you hit your 30s is you realize that you're starting to lose your hair.

00:22:39.000 Okay, so problem number one, as I mentioned, is the sort of fringy problems of transgender athletes who want to out-compete girls because they are in fact biological male.
00:22:48.000 Problem number two is the complete rethinking of family structure, the nail of maleness and femininity, and the consequences that has for things like the formation of nuclear family.
00:22:59.000 And yes, things like having children and living a lifestyle that produces children and rears children in a safe and healthy context.
00:23:08.000 Those things are kind of important for any growing society.
00:23:11.000 And I'm amused to see how many people on the left are suddenly realizing, hey, we need more kids.
00:23:16.000 Yeah, got it.
00:23:18.000 See, according to Katherine Rample, the U.S.
00:23:20.000 economy needs more kids.
00:23:21.000 Parents say they want more kids.
00:23:22.000 Yet the baby bust has gotten worse.
00:23:25.000 The general fertility rate, that is the number of births per thousand women aged 15 to 44, how dare she?
00:23:30.000 The number of births per thousand birthing people aged 15 to 44 declined to 55.8 in 2020.
00:23:36.000 That's a record low for the United States.
00:23:37.000 Birth rates declined for every racial and ethnic group and nearly every age group.
00:23:42.000 COVID-19 and the associated economic stress were partly to blame.
00:23:45.000 Lockdowns and social distancing disrupted new courtships, and already partnered Americans put off pregnancies as well.
00:23:51.000 But they've been declining earlier in 2020 and during each of the five preceding years.
00:23:54.000 Now, a lot of people say that one of the things that happens is that as countries get richer, they have fewer children.
00:23:59.000 This is generally true.
00:24:01.000 Okay, one of the reasons for that is that the economic bargain of having children goes away.
00:24:04.000 In poorer countries, one of the reasons that a lot of people have kids is because those kids are seen as labor resources.
00:24:09.000 In super poor countries, the idea is you have a lot of kids and those kids help take care of you.
00:24:14.000 Those kids are out there working the fields.
00:24:15.000 Those kids are helping you in your business.
00:24:17.000 But there's something else.
00:24:19.000 In rich countries, people who are religious and who still feel a religious and moral obligation to have children continue to have children.
00:24:25.000 This is what you see, for example, in Israel, which reproduces at well above replacement rates.
00:24:29.000 Israel, they're having like 2.6 kids per couple.
00:24:32.000 A lot of that is driven by the religious community.
00:24:35.000 Secular communities don't have as many children because they're looking at children purely as almost an economic resource.
00:24:40.000 That does not mean secular people see their own kids as an economic resource.
00:24:43.000 It means generally, societally, people tend to make economic decisions about kids.
00:24:48.000 When they're a net economic benefit, they have more of them.
00:24:50.000 When they're a net economic loss, they cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars, people tend to have fewer of them.
00:24:55.000 And in fact, what you see in the United States is a very strong correlation in terms of the data between who wants more kids and who has more education.
00:25:03.000 In fact, people who have less education in the United States want to have more kids.
00:25:06.000 And people who have more education in the United States want to have fewer kids.
00:25:10.000 Which is, again, demonstrative of the idea that gender theories being pushed by the people who are the post-graduates and the college graduates are really bad for the country.
00:25:20.000 They're really bad.
00:25:22.000 We should all be aspiring to have a solid number of children above replacement rates.
00:25:26.000 It is good to have kids.
00:25:27.000 It is hard work.
00:25:28.000 It is difficult.
00:25:29.000 It makes you a responsible person.
00:25:30.000 It makes you a better human being.
00:25:31.000 It means that... I really believe this.
00:25:34.000 You can choose to do whatever you want.
00:25:35.000 I'm not imposing on your freedom.
00:25:36.000 I'm not suggesting any legislation to that effect.
00:25:38.000 I'm suggesting that if you want to better yourself as a human being and become more responsible, getting married and having kids is an excellent way to do it.
00:25:44.000 Beyond that, you're doing something excellent for the world by having children and raising them properly.
00:25:48.000 The fact that any of this has become remotely controversial is a demonstration of precisely the point I'm making, which is when you undermine gender roles and when you pretend that gender can be completely substituted in favor of biological sex and that there's no connection between them, you end up destroying things that are incredibly valuable in a society.
00:26:04.000 Catherine Rampel's solution, by the way, is that the government should get involved and pay people to have kids.
00:26:08.000 Good luck for that.
00:26:09.000 It ain't gonna... The chance that that works after you have culturally destroyed the institution of family and marriage, we'll see how that works for you.
00:26:17.000 Yeah, we'll pay people to have a few more kids.
00:26:19.000 That's definitely gonna work out well.
00:26:20.000 Okay, so that is problem number two with this whole thing.
00:26:23.000 Problem number three is perhaps the deepest problem of all, which I alluded to at the very top of the show.
00:26:28.000 Okay, that problem...
00:26:30.000 Is that when you redefine human language in completely arbitrary ways, you destroy any basis for conversation.
00:26:36.000 And this is a key element of the radical subjectivist position that is taken by the deconstructionist left.
00:26:42.000 Deconstructionism is a philosophy that suggests that basically semantics are power.
00:26:46.000 That the way that language is used, the way we think about things, all of that is the product of our civilization.
00:26:51.000 And therefore, if we wish to change our civilization, we have to change the way that words are used.
00:26:56.000 But that means that we have to recognize that basically all language is a social convention without any relation to objective reality, and so it can be changed at will.
00:27:05.000 And if you fail to go along with those changes, then you are considered unwoke.
00:27:09.000 You have to be cast out.
00:27:10.000 You're considered a heretic.
00:27:12.000 And there is no rhyme or reason to this.
00:27:14.000 The language can change at any time for any reason.
00:27:16.000 You can find yourself on the wrong side of the line, which means that language becomes a power game.
00:27:20.000 Deconstructionists believe that there is no such thing as fundamental principles in politics.
00:27:25.000 They don't exist.
00:27:26.000 The only principle, presumably, is that everything is power.
00:27:30.000 Okay, well for the left, everything is power, including language.
00:27:33.000 And so when they randomly shift terms around, and then declare you heretical, or bigoted, or racist, or sexist, because you refuse to abide by their idiotic new conventions, in which equity is the same as equality, and sexual preference is an offensive term for no reason, or male means female.
00:27:49.000 If you refuse to abide by that, then they attempt to cudgel you.
00:27:52.000 They attempt to club you.
00:27:54.000 Because the idea is that language is power.
00:27:56.000 And the randomly shifting attempts to take what are terms with real definitions and then fluidify them, liquidate them, and shift them around, that is just an exercise of power.
00:28:09.000 Recognize that that's what that is.
00:28:11.000 And that exercise of power is designed to confuse.
00:28:15.000 It's no different than God's attempt to confuse the people who are building the Tower of Babel.
00:28:18.000 Once everybody is speaking a different language, you can't build anything together.
00:28:22.000 In the Bible, God does that because these people are building a societal construction designed to challenge godly values.
00:28:27.000 But now, the left is trying to do this because they're trying to prevent you from building any sort of societal structure that challenges their values.
00:28:36.000 So they have to confuse the language.
00:28:37.000 They have to completely change the language.
00:28:38.000 And if you refuse to go along with the changes, then this means that you shall be cast out like a leper.
00:28:43.000 That's a dangerous thing.
00:28:45.000 In order for us to have a policy, in order for us to have any sort of policy, any sort of Democratic Republic together.
00:28:53.000 We have to understand what the hell we're talking about.
00:28:55.000 The left throws up barriers to understanding on a routine basis.
00:28:59.000 And then they suggest that you are just a buffoon or fool if you don't understand what they're saying.
00:29:03.000 I understand what you're saying.
00:29:04.000 I just think that you're wrong and you're lying.
00:29:06.000 I think that Cori Bush well understands that women are the only ones giving birth.
00:29:09.000 I think so does Carolyn Maloney and Robin Kelly.
00:29:11.000 And I think they're liars when they pretend that men give birth.
00:29:14.000 I think they know full well that that kids have a sex when they are born.
00:29:20.000 But the goal here is to take the most fundamental elements of reality, things that small children can identify, and confuse you about them, because it is an exercise of power top-down.
00:29:31.000 And that's truly dangerous stuff.
00:29:32.000 It destroys our ability to have conversations.
00:29:35.000 It destroys our ability to even convince one another, because we're speaking in two different languages now.
00:29:41.000 It is a way of making people initiate into the woke ruling class.
00:29:46.000 That is all this is.
00:29:48.000 And if you refuse to go along, then you're one of these benighted bitter clingers that Barack Obama used to talk about.
00:29:52.000 Okay, in just a second, we're going to get to Joe Biden, who's declared he just can't understand Republicans anymore.

00:37:35.000 First the consequences, then what he is doing.
00:37:37.000 So, here are the consequences.
00:37:38.000 In April, the economy of the United States, in the middle of emerging from a pandemic, with people beginning to go outside, beginning to live life again, even though Joe Biden tells them not to and we have to wear masks and never dance again, Unless you're protesting for George Floyd, in which case you're immune.
00:37:53.000 But according to the Washington Post, the economy picked up 266,000 jobs in April, fewer than expected as the economy tries to rebound.
00:38:02.000 Hmm, why would this have happened?
00:38:05.000 Why?
00:38:06.000 We had 3.5% unemployment a year ago.
00:38:08.000 People have more money in their pocket now than they did a year ago because the government has blown money into their pocket, and yet no one is taking a job.
00:38:14.000 Hmm, I wonder why.
00:38:17.000 The unemployment rate remained relatively unchanged at around 6%, although economists caution the number is misleadingly low, given how many people have dropped out of the labor force in the last year, and thus are not counted as unemployed.
00:38:28.000 Hiring has accelerated so quickly, in fact, some businesses have complained to the White House and lawmakers they're having a hard time recruiting workers, particularly for low-wage hourly jobs.
00:38:37.000 Well, yes, that is correct.
00:38:40.000 You've created rent moratoria.
00:38:43.000 You have suggested that we are to pay unemployment for like another year, You have given people thousands and thousands of dollars, who have jobs, many of them, and people are like, okay, or I could sit home.
00:38:57.000 The tension spilled into public on Thursday when Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell blamed the stimulus package passed by the White House and Congress for acting as an incentive for people not to return to work.
00:39:06.000 Biden administration officials countered the $1.9 trillion stimulus package provided vital assistance to millions of Americans and has only helped the economy grow.
00:39:13.000 Oh, really?
00:39:15.000 The U.S.
00:39:15.000 economy added almost a million jobs in March.
00:39:18.000 But, yeah, not in April.
00:39:20.000 Not in April, because it turns out the supply chains are overstrained.
00:39:23.000 There are not enough employees out there.
00:39:25.000 We are leading to an inflationary spiral, because once you have too much money in the economy and not enough product to meet that price, you end up with price inflation.
00:39:33.000 And when it turns out that people look at those prices and think they are too high, they stop buying, which is how you end up with stagflation.
00:39:39.000 You end up with an economy with low demand, but high supply of dollars.
00:39:42.000 That is stagflation.
00:39:43.000 That's 1970s style stagflation, and it's coming faster than anybody thought it was going to come.
00:39:47.000 Meanwhile, Joe Biden's big plan, Is that he's going to destroy the companies that helped get us out of the pandemic.
00:39:53.000 So, take for example, Moderna.
00:39:55.000 Moderna had developed mRNA technology that allowed for the decoding of this COVID-19 virus and the production of an extraordinarily effective vaccine within like nine months of the actual release of the virus.
00:40:08.000 So the virus, the actual coding of the virus was released in January 2020.
00:40:11.000 Within one week, scientists at places like Pfizer and Moderna and BioNTech had actually created mRNA vaccine maps Okay, and then it took, because of all the government regulation and red tape, it took months and months and months for that to hit market, which is just a case that the government sucks at everything because they do.
00:40:28.000 Okay, but the government did one thing, basically.
00:40:32.000 The government said, okay, well, we will give you, we will guarantee you that we will order your vaccines and we'll give emergency authorization if you develop them.
00:40:40.000 And so these companies, because they wanted to develop intellectual property that was marketable, went ahead and made the greatest scientific advancement since basically the moon landing.
00:40:48.000 They said, we will develop this vaccine inside of 10 months and inoculate everyone.
00:40:52.000 Now, Joe Biden has decided, I'm going to punish those companies.
00:40:55.000 Those companies must be punished.
00:40:56.000 Now, here's the stupidest thing about all of this.
00:40:59.000 The supposed justification for punishing those companies?
00:41:02.000 By stealing their intellectual property, by the way.
00:41:05.000 is that we need to get more doses into more arms in the third world.
00:41:08.000 Except that if you wanna get more doses into more arms in the third world, you know what you could do?
00:41:11.000 You could just buy the doses the same way that Israel or the UK or the United States did, and then give them to the third world.
00:41:16.000 But we're not doing that.
00:41:17.000 Instead, Joe Biden and the Biden administration, because they hate big tech, because they hate big pharma, the people who got us out of this, okay?
00:41:24.000 Big pharma got us out of this, not Joe Biden, not even Donald Trump.
00:41:26.000 Big pharma got us out of this.
00:41:28.000 Okay, because they hate big pharma this much, they are now trying to steal their intellectual property.
00:41:33.000 They're trying to say that they should not have patent on the vaccines they develop.
00:41:36.000 So let's say you're Moderna, and let's say that the history of Moderna, John Podhorse did a good job detailing this on his Commentary Magazine podcast, the history of Moderna is pretty fraught.
00:41:44.000 Moderna starts, they have early successes, and then they develop a couple of drugs that fail, and their stock starts to go down.
00:41:52.000 But they have all of this leftover mRNA technology they've been working on for years.
00:41:55.000 Then this virus hits, and Moderna ramps up, and suddenly they have this incredibly successful vaccine.
00:42:00.000 Okay, so what are you going to do now?
00:42:03.000 You're going to punish them out of existence by destroying all profit margin for the vaccine that they created that is going to get the United States out of this pandemic and indeed get most of the world out of this pandemic.
00:42:14.000 You're gonna do so by removing their intellectual property.
00:42:16.000 Understand, intellectual property theft is theft.
00:42:19.000 When China does it, we call them a cheater.
00:42:21.000 When Joe Biden does it, we call that democratic policy.
00:42:24.000 If China were to just create a knockoff of a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, Then we would say they're stealing our intellectual property.
00:42:31.000 Because they are.
00:42:32.000 But if Joe Biden does it, no problem whatsoever.
00:42:35.000 And again, this will not get more shots into more arms.
00:42:37.000 You know how long it's gonna take for them to ramp up the generic production of this drug?
00:42:41.000 You know how long it's gonna take them to ramp up the development of a generic version of this?
00:42:46.000 And get it approved?
00:42:47.000 And do all those things?
00:42:48.000 Longer!
00:42:48.000 You could just pay the damn companies.
00:42:51.000 You could just pay them because, for God's sake, they deserve it!
00:42:53.000 They're the ones who actually created this miracle thing.
00:42:56.000 But according to the Wall Street Journal, President Biden genuflected again to progressives on Wednesday by endorsing an intellectual property waiver at the World Trade Organization for COVID Vaccines and Therapies.
00:43:05.000 This patent heist won't end well for the U.S.
00:43:07.000 or the world.
00:43:08.000 South Africa and India have been pushing a resolution at the WTO that would force pharmaceutical companies to hand over their COVID vaccine and therapy IP to manufacturers in low-income countries.
00:43:17.000 The waiver is backed by some 100 other low-income countries, progressive groups, and more than 100 Democratic Congress members.
00:43:22.000 Of course, they just want to punish these companies.
00:43:24.000 Of course they do.
00:43:26.000 Waiver proponents say breaking patent protections is necessary to expand global access.
00:43:30.000 This is false.
00:43:31.000 WTO's rules already allow low-income countries to force drug makers to license their patents during emergencies, though they must negotiate some agreement with developers.
00:43:39.000 Liberals say this is slowing vaccine production, yet U.S.
00:43:41.000 and European drug companies have already voluntarily entered into dozens of licensing agreements with other manufacturers, many in low-income countries, as they work to scale up production.
00:43:50.000 Merck last week announced licensing agreements with several Indian manufacturers to produce its investigational antiviral drug.
00:43:57.000 But vaccine and drug makers first need to ensure their partners can safely manufacture the complex biologic products.
00:44:02.000 This takes time.
00:44:04.000 So does ramping up production of raw ingredients.
00:44:06.000 Even so, global vaccine production is accelerating.
00:44:09.000 European governments oppose the waiver.
00:44:10.000 They realize it sets a terrible precedent.
00:44:12.000 Once stolen, IP on breakthrough innovations like Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA vaccines can't be returned.
00:44:18.000 So why did Biden surrender?
00:44:19.000 Because progressives hate big pharma.
00:44:21.000 They hate it.
00:44:22.000 They want to pretend that government did all this stuff.
00:44:24.000 Government doesn't do any of this stuff.
00:44:26.000 Government is garbage at this stuff.
00:44:29.000 This is why Democrats get so mad when you mention this.

00:44:59.000 And you know, we already have, we already waste tremendous sums of money.
00:45:03.000 And I think we owe that to the American public, to tell the American public, if you're gonna give me your money, I'm going to be a good steward of it, and here's what I'm gonna accomplish, and I'm gonna report back to you.
00:45:13.000 Okay, that is a basic request, right, for anybody who operates in this space, right?
00:45:18.000 Like, I wanna know how my money's being used.
00:45:20.000 This is so telling.
00:45:21.000 Robert Reich, who's the former Secretary of the Treasury under Bill Clinton, he tweeted this out.

00:45:42.000 Who's our, gang?
00:45:44.000 Who's our?
00:45:45.000 And did you miss the word taxpayer in the phrase taxpayer dollars?
00:45:49.000 They are his dollars.
00:45:51.000 They are your dollars.
00:45:52.000 They are my dollars.
00:45:54.000 They're not our dollars.
00:45:56.000 The government doesn't have its own dollars.
00:45:59.000 The government seizes money from people and then uses the money on random crap.
00:46:03.000 And if you point this out, if you point out that Joe Biden doesn't create jobs and that Robert Reich doesn't control taxpayer dollars, and if you point out that the government did not create these vaccines, the vaccine companies created these vaccines, then they get mad.
00:46:16.000 And then they say, well, I can't work with you.
00:46:18.000 I don't know what happened to you.
00:46:19.000 Is it any wonder why people are starting to get a little bit trepidatious about the next few years in the American government?
00:46:26.000 Pretty incredible stuff.
