00:00:00.000 Joe Biden continues to malfunction on the public stage as Vladimir Putin makes his aggressive intentions clear and China demonstrates once again they can't be trusted.
00:00:07.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:07.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:14.000 Today's show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.
00:00:17.000 Stand up for your digital rights.
00:00:18.000 Take action at expressvpn.com.
00:00:20.000 We'll get to all the news in just one moment.
00:00:22.000 Now, you may have noticed that we are in a significant state of economic turmoil here in the United States, that the government is pumping money into the system, that inflation is running at crazy rates right now.
00:00:32.000 And you might think to yourself, how do I diversify?
00:00:34.000 How do I protect my assets, especially when my assets are depreciating if I just keep them in the bank?
00:00:38.000 And the answer is, at least get some of your money into precious metals.
00:00:41.000 In April alone, consumer prices increased by 4.2%.
00:00:44.000 That's the biggest bump since 2008, with higher fuel prices and higher food prices and construction costs and housing prices.
00:00:50.000 Inflation is already here.
00:00:52.000 And again, you need to talk to my friends over at Birch Gold to help fight it.
00:00:55.000 If you have not reached out to Birchgold to diversify part of your IRA or 401k into a precious metals IRA, do it today.
00:01:00.000 Text BEN to 474747.

00:01:13.000 Talk to them, have them help you safeguard your investments.
00:01:15.000 Again, it's just a smart thing to diversify at least part of your portfolio into precious metals.
00:01:19.000 Diversification, it's a smart investment strategy.
00:01:21.000 And with inflation kicking in, precious metals should be part of that portfolio.
00:01:25.000 Text Ben to 474747.

00:02:16.000 Alrighty, well, we begin with the simple fact that Joe Biden is slated to meet Vladimir Putin, and things are not going to go well.
00:02:23.000 This is my prediction.
00:02:25.000 According to Yahoo News, President Biden agrees with Russian President Vladimir Putin on at least one thing.
00:02:30.000 Relations between their two nations are currently at a very low ebb.
00:02:33.000 Now, my favorite way that that is sort of phrased is the suggestion that they have been at high ebb in the recent past.
00:02:38.000 You may have remembered that George W. Bush once said that he looked into Vladimir Putin's eyes and saw his soul.
00:02:44.000 And relations didn't end up being very good.
00:02:46.000 And then Barack Obama was like, I think we can do business.
00:02:48.000 You and me.
00:02:48.000 I'll give you some flexibility.
00:02:51.000 And then things didn't end up going very well.
00:02:52.000 And then Donald Trump took a harsher position with the Russians, but was currently, was simultaneously being accused of being a sort of Russian stooge.
00:03:01.000 And it turns out relations weren't that great.
00:03:02.000 It turns out it's very difficult to have excellent relations with a dictatorial murderer like Vladimir Putin.
00:03:08.000 I mean, just baseline, very rough.
00:03:11.000 Rough stuff, right?
00:03:12.000 But apparently Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin agree on one thing, and that is that Donald Trump is a very bad orange man who's bad and orange as well.
00:03:19.000 Both said as much in interviews leading up to Wednesday's meeting in Geneva, which comes amid tensions over myriad issues, including a spate of cyber attacks emanating from within Russia, Putin's military adventurism along his country's border with Ukraine, And his imprisonment of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who survived poisoning with a Russian nerve agent.
00:03:35.000 According to Yahoo News, Biden arrives at the summit fresh from enthusiastic meetings with allies welcoming the return of the United States to conventional multilateral diplomacy.
00:03:43.000 He aims to use that support to present a unified front to challenge Putin.
00:03:46.000 That's a weird way of putting it, considering that in the recent past Joe Biden has basically Greenlit the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which is going to wildly enrich Russia.
00:03:55.000 And also, saying that he's arriving fresh from anywhere is a bit of a malaprop considering that Joe Biden has not been fresh for nigh on 45 years.
00:04:03.000 I mean, that fish has been rotten for quite a while.
00:04:06.000 And that simple fact is demonstrative of sort of where we stand in terms of global politics right now.
00:04:14.000 The rest of the world is looking at the United States and they are seeing easy pickings right now.
00:04:18.000 That's just the reality.
00:04:20.000 The reality is that Donald Trump, for all of his foibles, was considered prickly.
00:04:24.000 He was considered unpredictable.
00:04:25.000 He himself said, I like to be sort of predictably unpredictable, right?
00:04:29.000 I don't want them to know what I'm thinking.
00:04:31.000 And nobody knew what he was thinking.
00:04:32.000 I mean, to his credit.
00:04:33.000 People didn't know whether he was going to hug them or if he was going to fire some sort of missile at them.
00:04:38.000 And that's not a terrible thing.
00:04:39.000 With Joe Biden, everybody sort of knows what they're going to get, which is a little bit of talk and not much action.
00:04:45.000 The Russians know this.
00:04:46.000 Vladimir Putin isn't being shy about any of this.
00:04:49.000 Not only that, Vladimir Putin understands enough about the American left to understand that if he just mirrors the arguments of the American left, there's not much they can do about it.
00:04:57.000 Now, this was a common tactic during the Soviet Union.
00:04:59.000 During the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union would be criticized for, you know, slaughtering 20 million of its own people, or keeping 100 million people under the boot heel of a totalitarian regime.
00:05:12.000 Or taking over Eastern Europe?
00:05:13.000 Or funding communist insurgencies around the world, ending with the murder of tens of thousands of human beings?
00:05:18.000 They get these sort of critiques every so often.
00:05:20.000 Rare from the left, but sometimes.
00:05:22.000 And their usual response would be, ah yes, but you too have sinned.
00:05:25.000 Ah yes, but look at race relations in the United States.
00:05:28.000 Ah yes, but look at the United States, where cruel exploitation has led to capitalistic poverty.
00:05:35.000 And the left would be like, that's true.
00:05:37.000 Oh my God, I never thought of it that, that's so true.
00:05:39.000 We are, we, maybe we are the bad guys.
00:05:42.000 So Vladimir Putin trained in the KGB.
00:05:45.000 And so he uses these exact same tactics all the time.
00:05:49.000 And he says stuff he knows that the American left will agree with.
00:05:51.000 So he makes the same critiques of the United States that BLM makes.
00:05:54.000 He makes the critical race theory arguments that the left in the United States likes to make.
00:05:58.000 And so he will deflect any criticism and all criticism simply by talking about the weaknesses of the United States, with which the left largely agrees.
00:06:05.000 Here is Vladimir Putin, for example, deflecting criticism by citing January 6th.
00:06:08.000 He said, we have a saying, don't be mad at the mirror if you're ugly.
00:06:14.000 Points, honestly, points for being a Bond villain to Vladimir Putin.
00:06:17.000 I've said it before, the man is just an excellent Bond villain.
00:06:19.000 He says, it has nothing to do with you personally.
00:06:21.000 But if somebody blames us for something, what I say is, why don't you look at yourself?
00:06:25.000 You'll see yourselves in the mirror, not us.
00:06:29.000 We have much in common, Mr. Bond.
00:06:31.000 It's every Vladimir Putin speech.
00:06:34.000 He said, did you order the assassination of the woman who walked into Congress and who was shot and killed by policemen?
00:06:38.000 He's talking about Ashley Babbitt.
00:06:41.000 He says, do you know 450 individuals were arrested after entering Congress?
00:06:44.000 They didn't go there to steal a laptop.
00:06:46.000 They came with political demands.
00:06:47.000 So now he is suggesting that the crackdown on people who invaded the Capitol building is sort of like the crackdown on, you know, just peaceful dissenters in Russia who have been imprisoned en masse, their protests broken up and all the rest.
00:07:00.000 So this is the game that Vladimir Putin loves to play.
00:07:03.000 And Vladimir Putin also, at the same time, will not commit to human rights in his own country, because why would he?
00:07:09.000 Hell's the point.
00:07:10.000 He's been there for 20 years.
00:07:13.000 I mean, who's gonna do something about it, is Vladimir Putin's point of view.
00:07:17.000 So Putin, for example, was asked about whether Alexei Navalny, who's this Russian dissident, who has basically been falsely imprisoned in Russia, whether he is going to leave prison alive, because he's very sick.
00:07:27.000 Putin allegedly tried to poison him a while back.
00:07:30.000 He got very sick, recovered.
00:07:32.000 Now he's in prison in Russia, because he landed in Russia, they immediately grabbed him and threw him in prison, and now he is, like, on his deathbed.
00:07:37.000 And here's Putin being like, going full Ivan Drago.
00:07:40.000 If he dies, he dies.
00:07:43.000 Will you commit that you will personally ensure that Alexei Navalny will leave prison alive?
00:07:50.000 I proceed from the premise that the person that you have mentioned, the same kind of measures will apply, not in any way worse than to anybody else who happens to be in prison.
00:08:02.000 His name is Alexei Navalny.
00:08:04.000 People will note that you... I don't care.
00:08:06.000 I don't care.
00:08:09.000 And he doesn't care!
00:08:10.000 Again.
00:08:11.000 Bond villain.
00:08:12.000 Okay, so we're going to get to more of this in just one second, and then we'll get to the President of the United States, who's supposed to stand up to this guy.
00:08:18.000 Mm-hmm.

00:08:19.000 First, let's talk about the fact that now is an excellent time to get life insurance.

00:09:21.000 PolicyGenius.
00:09:22.000 When it comes to insurance, it's nice and very, very important to get it right.
00:09:25.000 Okay, so.
00:09:27.000 Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin, not only is he engaging in this sort of gamesmanship, he also suggested publicly that the Kremlin has never been engaged in any of these sort of hacks against American targets.
00:09:39.000 No, no, no.
00:09:40.000 Never.
00:09:40.000 I mean, no.
00:09:42.000 And also, all the real human rights violations are happening, of course, in the United States.
00:09:46.000 Of course.
00:09:47.000 That's really the problem.
00:09:49.000 Meanwhile, it turns out that Vladimir Putin has been ordering the largest military exercises in the Pacific since the end of the Cold War.
00:09:57.000 Oh, he's not being confrontational or anything, guys.
00:09:58.000 guys, everything's going great.
00:10:00.000 According to the Daily Star in the UK, Vladimir Putin's forces have been spotted hunting an enemy submarine, fake enemy submarine, with 20 surface ships, submarines, and supporting vessels, all playing their part in the largest scale naval exercise since the fall of the Soviet Union.
00:10:13.000 The Russian president will meet US.
00:10:14.000 counterpart Joe Biden on June 16.
00:10:16.000 Putin was not afraid to show his military might just days before the meeting.
00:10:19.000 A total of 20 warplanes took to the skies, including Tu-142M3 long-range anti-submarine aircraft, MiG-31BM high-altitude interceptor fighters, and a selection of other aircraft belonging to Russia's Aerospace Force, according to TASS.
00:10:33.000 In a video put out by Russia's Ministry of Defense, the fleet can be seen in pursuit of, and quote-unquote, driving out a mock enemy submarine.
00:10:39.000 A Moscow Defense Ministry statement said during the exercise, the crews of the Pacific Fleet's warships fired from the Automatic Naval Gun Mount AK-630 and the Universal Naval Artillery A-190.
00:10:49.000 So, obviously, Vladimir Putin trying to flex his muscles.
00:10:53.000 Meanwhile, Joe Biden has no muscles to flex.
00:10:56.000 And this is the biggest problem.
00:10:58.000 Joe Biden is not all there.
00:11:00.000 Now, theoretically, he could be not all there, but his team could be staffed by a bunch of hawks who really are going to face up to the threat that Russia poses.
00:11:07.000 And remember, according to the Democrats, until the last 35 seconds, when Joe Biden became president, Russia was the chief threat to the United States.
00:11:14.000 Now, they said that, of course, because they were focused in over and over and over on the idea that Donald Trump was somehow being bribed to be president by Vladimir Putin, that he was a Manchurian candidate.
00:11:24.000 Or the Moscow candidate.
00:11:26.000 But now that Biden's president, they're like, you know what?
00:11:29.000 It would be great if we cut our military.
00:11:30.000 And you know, what if we put out some like recruiting videos for the military that featured lesbian moms?
00:11:34.000 I mean, that seems like a great way to recruit for the military.
00:11:36.000 And for the CIA, what if we like really targeted the group of people who are thinking about applying to the CIA, but suffer from generalized anxiety disorder?
00:11:43.000 That's like, that's where we got to put our time and our effort.
00:11:46.000 And also, we really have to consider whether military bases should fly the pride flag.
00:11:50.000 I mean, these are really important subjects for the United States military in the face of increased Russian aggression.
00:11:56.000 And meanwhile, you've got that administration topped by a person whose brain is just not functioning.
00:12:01.000 Okay, I'm sorry.
00:12:02.000 The media are not going to show you these clips.
00:12:04.000 They will not show you these clips on CBS Evening News because they are extremely disquieting.
00:12:09.000 And honestly, you have to feel bad for the President of the United States, who at this point seems to be the victim of elder abuse.
00:12:15.000 They're trotting out a person who does not have his faculties about him.
00:12:18.000 If you've ever had an elderly relative who is starting to lose it, Joe Biden is your elderly relative who is starting to lose it.
00:12:24.000 I actually feel bad for the man.
00:12:25.000 He is in a high-pressure situation, the highest pressure job on planet Earth, and he is clearly not capable of handling himself.
00:12:33.000 Honestly, he's my president too, right?
00:12:35.000 He's your president.
00:12:36.000 He's the elected president.
00:12:37.000 You don't want the elected president to not have the ability to even speak.
00:12:41.000 Here was Joe Biden yesterday.
00:12:42.000 I mean, this is an unbelievable clip.
00:12:44.000 Here is Joe Biden yesterday, asked about whether Vladimir Putin is a killer.
00:12:47.000 Now, to preface this clip, to backtrack for a moment, understand that in March, Joe Biden did an interview in which he was asked whether Vladimir Putin was a killer.
00:12:56.000 And he said, absolutely.
00:12:57.000 Here was Joe Biden just a couple of months ago saying that Vladimir Putin was a killer.
00:13:02.000 Most important thing dealing with foreign leaders, in my experience, and I've dealt with an awful lot of them over my career, is just know the other guy.
00:13:11.000 So you know Vladimir Putin?
00:13:12.000 Mm-hmm.
00:13:12.000 You think he's a killer?
00:13:14.000 I do.
00:13:15.000 Okay, so pretty swift answer there with his good friend George Stephanopoulos.
00:13:19.000 Here was yesterday.
00:13:21.000 Remember, this has only been a three-month gap.
00:13:22.000 This is a guy in a serious state of mental decline.
00:13:27.000 I don't know what else to tell you.
00:13:28.000 I'm only looking at the evidence in my eyes.
00:13:30.000 I'm not going to pretend I'm a doctor.
00:13:30.000 I'm not a doctor.
00:13:32.000 All I can tell you is that if you've ever seen a person who is sliding down the hill in terms of his faculties, Joe Biden looks an awful lot like that.
00:13:40.000 Remember, that was him with George Stephanopoulos in March.
00:13:43.000 Here is President Joe Biden in June being asked the same question.
00:13:52.000 To answer the first question?
00:13:55.000 I'm laughing too.
00:13:56.000 They actually, uh, well, look, I mean, he has made clear that, uh, uh, the answer is, I believe he is in the past essentially acknowledge that he was, uh, there are certain things that he would do or did do.
00:14:23.000 But look, um, when I was asked that question, On air, I answered it honestly.
00:14:29.000 But it's not much of a I don't think it matters a whole lot in terms of this next meeting we're about to have.
00:14:36.000 OK, first of all, very weak answer.
00:14:38.000 But second of all, that is a full six and a half second gap in that tape where he's just standing there not knowing what's going on around him.
00:14:46.000 Hey, that guy is going to stand up to a KGB trained killer like Vladimir Putin.
00:14:51.000 I hope he does.
00:14:52.000 He's my president, too.
00:14:53.000 Again, I would love to see the presidents of the United States take a hard, strong stance with regards to the Russians.
00:14:57.000 I just don't think it's going to happen.
00:14:59.000 And Joe Biden was also asked, by the way, about Russia, and he referred to Russia as, quote, unquote, our adversary and or our possible adversary.
00:15:08.000 Again, it's just.
00:15:09.000 I've been doing this a long time.
00:15:11.000 Arnold Schwarzenegger in total recall wearing the lady disguise when it starts to glitch.
00:15:17.000 I mean, you're afraid that his head is going to start opening up.
00:15:21.000 That's that's what he's going to start shaking all over the place and then it's going to explode into Arnold Schwarzenegger.
00:15:25.000 It's so weird.
00:15:27.000 Here's the president of the United States.
00:15:29.000 I've been doing this a long time.
00:15:31.000 Yes, you have.
00:15:32.000 The last thing anyone would do is negotiate in front of the world press as to how he's going to approach a critical meeting with another adversary and or someone who could be an adversary.
00:15:46.000 It's the last thing I'm going to do.
00:15:49.000 Yes.
00:15:50.000 Okay.
00:15:50.000 Great.
00:15:51.000 Well, meanwhile, China is on the move as well.

00:17:10.000 Alrighty, so meanwhile, the Chinese government is also getting more and more aggressive.
00:17:15.000 So apparently, the Chinese government is now engaging in serious harassment around Taiwan.
00:17:24.000 According to Newsweek, the Chinese government has now activated a swarm of warplanes around Taiwan after the G7 and NATO talked up the threat of China.
00:17:33.000 Newsweek says, over a dozen warplanes took off from China and triggered radar stations in Taiwan early Tuesday as military aircraft once again swarmed the island's air defense zone following more than a week of relative quiet.
00:17:43.000 Radio intercepts sent to Newsweek included at least 17 airborne warnings aimed at PLA warplanes.
00:17:48.000 The warnings were broadcast by Republic of China Air Force radio operators between 5.48 a.m.
00:17:52.000 and 10.43 a.m.
00:17:53.000 local time.
00:17:54.000 The precise number of intruding aircraft was initially unclear.
00:17:57.000 The Office of Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense spokesperson declined to comment on these developments.
00:18:01.000 The department later announced it had detected 28 Chinese military planes.
00:18:05.000 That is a single day record.
00:18:07.000 Apparently the large incursion into the southwest corner of Taiwan's ADIZ comes after 10 days of relative quiet, with just one PLA asset detected in the area since June 4th, a Y-8 anti-submarine warfare aircraft spotted on Monday.
00:18:20.000 The Chinese military's return to gray zone activity around Taiwan follows Biden's attendance of key summits with G7 and NATO allies, both of which resulted in firm rebukes of Beijing's actions across various sectors.
00:18:30.000 Now understand, this is not about China's about to invade Taiwan.
00:18:33.000 And what this is about is intimidating all of the border countries around China into understanding that if they push China too hard, China will push back.
00:18:41.000 And not only will they push back, they understand that the West isn't going to do anything about it.
00:18:46.000 Monday's NATO joint statement highlighted China's ambitions and assertive behavior, but they agreed to do nothing.
00:18:51.000 Didn't agree to anything.
00:18:53.000 Biden led G7 leaders in a communique that included several direct and indirect mentions of China, pushing Beijing for cooperation on COVID-19 origin tracing, fair trade practices, and human rights.
00:19:04.000 But they're not going to do anything.
00:19:06.000 Again, there will be nothing done.
00:19:09.000 And that is really what matters in foreign policy.
00:19:10.000 It's not these empty statements that everybody knows are empty.
00:19:13.000 It's whether you're going to do anything.
00:19:15.000 And understand, China, like Russia, is not an accelerating power.
00:19:19.000 China is a declining power.
00:19:20.000 China has serious problems.
00:19:22.000 China, because of its one-child policy, has gone into steep population decline, which is why they've now said that people in China should have three kids.
00:19:29.000 After engaging in the murder of literally hundreds of millions of children over the course of the last three decades, they've now reversed themselves because they've completely demographically wiped themselves off the map.
00:19:37.000 Not only that, their economy is not nearly what it is supposed to be.
00:19:41.000 It is predicated heavily on taking out foreign debt.
00:19:44.000 It is predicated on being able to cram down particularly in rural areas misery on its own citizens.
00:19:50.000 China remains a totalitarian slave state for a large number of its citizens.
00:19:55.000 Okay, and not only that, there's supposed technological prowess.
00:19:58.000 You read in the Thomas Friedman, wow, Thomas Friedman has written about how China is creating new high-speed rail.
00:20:03.000 Okay, the reality is that China's infrastructure sucks.
00:20:06.000 Okay, they have a few nice things and a lot of really bad things.
00:20:09.000 It's sort of like how the Soviet Union used to have these showpieces, these sort of Potemkin villages where they would bring the Westerners and be like, oh, look, isn't this nice?
00:20:16.000 China's a little bit better because they actually do have some serious major cities.
00:20:19.000 But understand that in a country of a billion people, a huge number of those people are living in serious poverty.
00:20:25.000 Those, like, by American standards, true abject poverty.
00:20:29.000 Not only that.
00:20:31.000 Their facilities are just not all that great.
00:20:34.000 I mean, right now, we have a report that, you know, you thought that the Wuhan lab was China's Chernobyl?
00:20:39.000 Nope, it turns out that China's Chernobyl is China's Chernobyl.
00:20:42.000 According to CNN, the U.S.
00:20:43.000 government has spent the past week assessing a report of a leak at a Chinese nuclear power plant after a French company that part owns and helps operate it warned of an imminent radiological threat, according to U.S.
00:20:52.000 officials and documents reviewed by CNN.
00:20:53.000 The warning included an accusation that the Chinese safety authority was raising the acceptable limits for radiation detection.
00:21:00.000 Outside the Taishan nuclear power plant in Guangdong province in order to avoid having to shut it down.
00:21:05.000 And so they're going full scale communist authoritarian state.
00:21:08.000 Oh, you know, we're letting off too much radiation.
00:21:10.000 I have an idea.
00:21:11.000 What if we just call it not too much radiation?
00:21:13.000 This is their idea.
00:21:14.000 This is what they're doing.
00:21:15.000 So there's a leak that's happening, basically.
00:21:17.000 And the Chinese government's like, instead of defining it as a leak, what if we just pretended it wasn't the leak?
00:21:22.000 How about that?
00:21:24.000 Despite the alarming notification that Framatome, the French company of the Biden administration, believes the facility is not yet at a crisis level, according to one of the sources.
00:21:31.000 U.S.
00:21:32.000 officials have deemed the situation does not currently pose a severe safety threat to workers at the plant or the Chinese public, but it is unusual that a foreign company would unilaterally reach out to the American government for help when its Chinese state-owned partner is yet to acknowledge a problem exists.
00:21:45.000 The scenario could put the U.S.
00:21:46.000 in a complicated situation should the leak continue or become more severe without being fixed.
00:21:50.000 Um, well, why?
00:21:52.000 I mean, is it possible that the reason that the French company is coming to the U.S.
00:21:55.000 is because the Chinese are hiding this?
00:21:57.000 Because this is what the Chinese government does?
00:22:00.000 The Chinese government, by the way, continues to play down the possibility.
00:22:04.000 of a serious lab leak.
00:22:07.000 In fact, one of the scientists from China has now said, no, no, no, no, there's no lab leak here.
00:22:12.000 There's nothing to see.
00:22:13.000 She said, how on earth can I offer up evidence for something where there is no evidence?
00:22:17.000 She said, I don't know how the world has come to this constantly pouring filth on an innocent scientist.
00:22:22.000 She announced the suspicions as baseless as what Chinese bat woman, right?
00:22:25.000 She works at the Wuhan lab, including the allegations that several of her colleagues may have been ill before the outbreak emerged.
00:22:30.000 I don't believe you.
00:22:31.000 In the words of Anchorman, I don't believe you.
00:22:33.000 And I don't believe you because you have not demonstrated any sort of trustworthiness.
00:22:37.000 By the way, when I say not demonstrated any sort of trustworthiness, remember China rolled out its quote unquote Sinopharm vaccine for COVID-19.
00:22:44.000 It sucked so badly that countries that have used it are seeing massive spikes in COVID.
00:22:50.000 So China is in a state of decay, which makes it more aggressive.
00:22:53.000 Russia in a state of decay makes it more aggressive.
00:22:55.000 And we have a president in a state of decay and that is no good.
00:22:58.000 Okay, in just a second, we're gonna get to what is truly occupying the US government at this point.
00:23:03.000 You know, the important things.
00:23:04.000 First, let's talk about how you protect yourself and your family.
00:23:07.000 So owning a firearm is great.
00:23:09.000 It is, I own several of them, but it's not enough.
00:23:12.000 If God forbid somebody breaks into your house, You want to be able to defend yourself, but you also want to have, you know, some form of actual protection, and this is why body armor can be a really, really good idea.
00:23:21.000 There's a pretty good chance if you're listening to this program you own a firearm, or even if you don't, you still care about protecting yourself, your family, and your Second Amendment rights.

00:24:21.000 Text BEN to 88027 for 20% off your very first order.
00:24:23.000 Okay.
00:24:27.000 Meanwhile, we are focusing in on the important things here in the United States.
00:24:31.000 Not foreign threats.
00:24:32.000 Come on.
00:24:33.000 Not rising world powers that are threatening people around their borders, and hacking American systems, and stealing American technology, and undermining the world economy, and threatening trade routes.
00:24:46.000 No, no, no.
00:24:46.000 We have our priorities.
00:24:48.000 Our priorities are the progress pride flag.
00:24:51.000 The Interior Department yesterday on Flag Day.
00:24:52.000 So yesterday was Flag Day.
00:24:53.000 Flag Day celebrates the adoption of the original American flag in 1777.
00:24:59.000 So on Flag Day, it was time to adopt a new flag over at the Interior Department.
00:25:02.000 Deb Haaland put up the so-called Progress Pride Flag.
00:25:05.000 So this is a flag that we probably aren't all that familiar with.
00:25:08.000 The classical pride flag was just the rainbow flag, right?
00:25:12.000 Well, now you have the It is a truly hideous flag, just on an aesthetic level.
00:25:17.000 The Progress Pride flag, which has a bunch of new stripes coming in from the side, in an arrow formation, pushing across the original Pride flag.
00:25:28.000 And this includes transgender, and intersex, and all sorts of stripes for different people, because flags don't unify anymore.
00:25:36.000 You have to have an individual stripe on the flag that represents your identity personally.
00:25:40.000 It doesn't represent a state, like a star would.
00:25:44.000 Right, because that is a body politic.
00:25:45.000 No, it represents you personally on the flag.
00:25:47.000 And this is now being flown over government buildings, because obviously it unifies all Americans.
00:25:52.000 All of these issues are truly unifying to all Americans.
00:25:56.000 So, Deb Haaland tweeted out, Again, imagine that when Donald Trump was president, he just decided to raise up a giant flag of a cross over a government building and said, you know, happy religious freedom day, America.
00:26:10.000 You think people would have been okay with that?
00:26:12.000 And yet, this is totally fine.
00:26:13.000 These are the issues that we're focused on.
00:26:14.000 They're the most important issues in America today.
00:26:18.000 And in fact, the most important issues are recognizing that America is a system of privilege that must be revolutionized from within.
00:26:25.000 It is a constant, ongoing revolution.
00:26:27.000 And if you notice the revolution, then you're the bad guy.
00:26:30.000 If you notice that there is an active attempt by folks on the left to undermine traditional American values, you're the bad guy.
00:26:36.000 If you point out That the left seems wildly focused on an identity politics that suggests that America's institutions are not only rife with racism, but rooted in racism and inextricably intertwined with racism.
00:26:48.000 If you notice that they are pushing this actively, then this means that you are the bad guy.
00:26:52.000 Terry McAuliffe, the former Virginia governor and current Virginia gubernatorial candidate, he's back.
00:26:57.000 And he is saying, you know, all these right-wingers who are focused in on critical race theory these days, I don't know why they're focused in on critical race theory these days, even though we are now adopting the tenets of critical race theory into nearly every aspect of American education and government.
00:27:08.000 No, no, no, no, no.
00:27:10.000 If you're noticing, it's because you are a conspiracy theorist.
00:27:14.000 All the Republicans are talking about, like, critical race theory, and they're making this huge deal about it, and it's all the conversation in the news of Virginia.
00:27:21.000 Like, what are you going to say to all those people making education about that?
00:27:25.000 That's another right-wing conspiracy.
00:27:27.000 This is totally made up by Donald Trump and Glenn Young.
00:27:30.000 This is who they are.
00:27:32.000 It's a conspiracy theory.
00:27:33.000 Oh, it's a conspiracy theory.
00:27:34.000 Weird, then, that it's being adopted and praised in the pages of the New York Times, and also that there are so many open proponents of it in the halls of power in the United States.
00:27:43.000 Strange, strange.
00:27:44.000 If it's a conspiracy theory, it seems like the conspiracy is kind of real, considering how many major players are out defending critical race theory today, Charles Blow being one of the latest in the opinion pages of the New York Times.
00:27:55.000 It just demonstrates, understand, critical race theory suggests That all of America's core institutional tenants, all of our basic values of the Declaration of Independence, they are lies.
00:28:04.000 Really, those are just a guise for white supremacist power politics.
00:28:08.000 It's all about upholding the power of white supremacy.
00:28:11.000 It's all about upholding the systems of power in the United States and all this talk about individual rights and freedom of speech and freedom of the press and freedom of religion.
00:28:19.000 All those freedoms are basically just a lie designed to keep people of color down, which is weird because in the United States, Asian Americans are the highest earning income group.
00:28:27.000 Nigerian Americans are extraordinarily high earning income group, far higher than white Americans.
00:28:31.000 So apparently the institutions meant to elevate white people actually kind of suck in the United States at this point, but Put all of that aside, the idea is that everything at root is about power.
00:28:42.000 There's no such thing as principle, is the theory of critical race theory.
00:28:46.000 All those principles are a lie.
00:28:47.000 It is all about power.
00:28:48.000 Now, the dirty secret is that critical race theory itself is an attempt to regain power.
00:28:53.000 It is not about principle.
00:28:54.000 It is not about establishing some high-minded principle of equity.
00:28:58.000 It is simply about who wields power against whom, which is why they are so darned upset if you try to define their terms.
00:29:06.000 But if you say, okay, I want you to explain to me what critical race theory is so that I can actually understand it and then accept or reject it, they get very angry at you.
00:29:15.000 And even if you've read all of their works, even if you've read Richard Delgado, even if you've read Gene Stefanchik, even if you've read Derrick Bell, right?
00:29:21.000 Which I have, in law school.
00:29:22.000 Even if you've read all of those things, they will still say, no, you misunderstand.
00:29:26.000 And the reason they always say this, notice this is a common tactic on the left, refusal to define terms.
00:29:30.000 If I even have to define it, you just don't know.
00:29:34.000 They do the same thing with the term woman.
00:29:35.000 If you say, okay, it seems like the term woman that you're constantly using to talk about how important it is that Kamala Harris is a woman, for example, it seems like that term is utterly malleable considering that men who identify as women, you also consider women.
00:29:46.000 So please define woman.
00:29:47.000 They'll be like, if you don't know, then I'm not going to explain it to you.
00:29:51.000 The last refuge of the intellectual scoundrel.
00:29:53.000 So the left does this all the time.
00:29:55.000 They don't want to define terms because terms, language is a tool of power.
00:29:59.000 This is pure Michel Foucault.
00:30:01.000 Foucault suggested that language was basically just a weapon.
00:30:05.000 And the left believes this.
00:30:06.000 Everything they suggest about the right is true of the left.
00:30:08.000 Everything they suggest about the right, that we have principles but that those principles aren't principles.
00:30:12.000 They're really just power.
00:30:13.000 That we are merely using words as cudgels.
00:30:16.000 This is all the left does all day.
00:30:18.000 It is just projection.
00:30:19.000 It is pure projection.
00:30:21.000 James Lindsay says this, the professor, he is correct about this.
00:30:25.000 It is, in fact, just projection.
00:30:27.000 It is pure projection.
00:30:28.000 So Charles Blow is a perfect example of this.
00:30:30.000 So he will say that all of America's high-minded principles, those are really just cover for power.
00:30:34.000 But also, critical race theory is not just a cover for power.
00:30:38.000 Critical race theory is a higher ideal.
00:30:40.000 But if you attempt to define it, Then I'm not going to let you.
00:30:43.000 Because I sort of like the power structure that is embedded in critical race theory.
00:30:47.000 In a second we'll get to Charles Blow trying to obfuscate the issue.
00:30:50.000 Because again, in the obfuscation lies the ability to beat to political death your opponents.
00:30:56.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:30:57.000 First, Let us talk about the most comfortable office chair in all the land.
00:31:01.000 I, of course, am speaking of the fantastic X Chair.
00:31:05.000 The secret is not only their patented, dynamic, variable lumbar support, DVL support, it offers unbelievable lumbar support to your lower back.
00:31:12.000 Now, thanks to their new X HMT technology, you can also get heat and massage therapy while you're sitting at your desk.
00:31:18.000 I mean, it's like heaven in a chair.
00:31:20.000 Instead of your old, uncomfortable office chair, now you can look forward to spending hours sitting in the ultimate therapeutic massager.

00:32:05.000 Now, if you're an American, you've probably noticed a few things happening lately.
00:32:08.000 You know, like spending a year locked in your home, forced masking, the ideological indoctrination that is surging through our school system, corporations, government.
00:32:16.000 If you're like me, you probably care about stopping it.
00:32:17.000 You feel like you're living in an increasingly authoritarian state.
00:32:20.000 Well, that is why I wrote The Authoritarian Moment.
00:32:23.000 To help you understand how our culture got to this point and how you can fight it.
00:32:26.000 The Authoritarian Moment, it's coming out on July 27th, but you can order it early right now.
00:32:30.000 It is a really important book.
00:32:31.000 It talks about why you feel the way you do.
00:32:33.000 The reason you feel the way you do is because it ain't in your head, it's reality.
00:32:37.000 Every major institution in our society has been twisted toward leftist authoritarianism, cram downs, quashing of dissent.
00:32:43.000 You need to know how that happened so that we can reverse it.
00:32:45.000 I talk in the book, The Authoritarian Moment, about how to reverse it, how to fight back.
00:32:49.000 It requires concerted and intelligent action.
00:32:51.000 The Authoritarian Moment is now available for pre-order at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or any other major bookseller.
00:32:57.000 A lot of people make the journey from the left to the right for good reason.
00:33:00.000 The left is undeniably growing more insane by the day.
00:33:03.000 Some of you who leave the left have documented it.
00:33:06.000 The Walk Away series on YouTube.
00:33:07.000 If you've seen them, it's likely you've watched the video of Georgia Howe, a former teacher and liberal who's brought her expertise on ideological indoctrination from the classroom to The Daily Wire.
00:33:14.000 She has started her very own show, Office Hours.
00:33:17.000 You can now listen to that no matter where you are in podcast form.
00:33:20.000 Whether she's discussing critical race theory with the aforementioned James Lindsay, or transgenderism with Abigail Schreier, her show offers a wealth of incredible information from some of America's most important and underutilized voices.
00:33:31.000 So, subscribe and download Office Hours with Georgia Howe on Apple Podcasts, or whatever your platform of choice may be, get ready for the ultimate listening experience.
00:33:38.000 no matter where you are, you are listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcasting radio show in the nation.
00:33:43.000 All righty, so Charles Blow of the New York Times, one of the worst columnists over there, but one of the beautiful things about being a bad columnist for the New York Times is sometimes you make clear what the truth is. So here's what he had to say.
00:33:50.000 So here's what he had to say.
00:33:56.000 So, Blow has a piece today in the New York Times titled, Demonizing Critical Race Theory.
00:34:01.000 The fact that the entire Democratic Party feels the necessity to defend critical race theory says something about its importance to them.
00:34:06.000 So, says Charles Blow, critical race theory is the political rights new boogeyman.
00:34:10.000 The theory Born in the 1970s among legal scholars, he uses race as a lens through which to examine structures of power.
00:34:16.000 It was, I would argue, a relatively obscure concept, not because it lacked merit, but because it was novel.
00:34:20.000 Now, you may notice, again, his definition here is just wrong.
00:34:23.000 It is not just, he's not defining the theory.
00:34:25.000 He says the theory is, he uses race as a lens.
00:34:28.000 Okay, but that's not a theory.
00:34:30.000 The theory is like a theory.
00:34:33.000 Like, what does it theorize about the world?
00:34:35.000 Like, we all understand that race matters, but what exactly does that have to do with how you examine the world?
00:34:43.000 Okay, so, says Charles Blow, critical race theory was simply an analytical tool.
00:34:47.000 But to some white people, the fact that white supremacy was overtly used to infect American systems of power with both racial oppressions and racial privileges is too much to handle.
00:34:55.000 It is discomforting, it unravels the American myth.
00:34:57.000 Okay, so this is where he moves beyond his vague definition and gets a little more specific.
00:35:02.000 Right, he moves beyond, critical race theory is just a way to look at the law, you know, you look at race and the law and the relationship between them.
00:35:07.000 Instead, he just lets the cat out of the bag.
00:35:09.000 What is critical race theory?
00:35:11.000 Critical race theory is the fact that white supremacy was overtly used to infect America's systems of power with racial oppressions and racial privileges.
00:35:19.000 He says critical race theory doesn't diagnose the country as evil, even though it is beyond dispute that some evil people designed the architecture of racial oppression.
00:35:26.000 And that there are still some who help maintain it.
00:35:28.000 In fact, I don't even believe that most people have any real concept of what critical race theory is.
00:35:32.000 It's just a collection of words that hint to them at agitation and aggrievement.
00:35:36.000 A theory that mentions race, and that is critical, or in their mind, criticizes.
00:35:39.000 Critical race theory began to stand for any teachings that challenged the narrative that white America had crafted about the country, and that unveiled any truths that it had tried to hide or erase.
00:35:46.000 Okay, so now what the left is trying to do, is they're trying to say that if you object to the idea that all of America's institutions of power are shot through with racism today, And that racism is buried so deep in the substructure of American life that it has to be torn out by the roots.
00:35:59.000 All of those structures have to be torn out by the roots.
00:36:01.000 If you oppose that, it's because you don't want to teach kids about slavery or something.
00:36:05.000 Okay, what is the real goal here?
00:36:06.000 The real goal here is to be able to press forward the agenda.
00:36:10.000 Right?
00:36:10.000 And Charles Bloch pretty much makes this clear.
00:36:15.000 He makes clear that he just wants what he wants, and if you attack critical race theory, then you're a racist.
00:36:22.000 It's a full Motten-Bailey argument.
00:36:24.000 They put out an argument, they say, critical race theory, the argument is that America's basically racist.
00:36:28.000 Like, from its inception, through all of its institutions, it's racist.
00:36:31.000 You say, that's not true.
00:36:32.000 And then they were true-true.
00:36:33.000 Oh, you don't want to tell the truth about America.
00:36:36.000 Which means you're a racist, of course.
00:36:38.000 And because you're a racist, I should get to make all the policy.
00:36:41.000 Says Charles Blow, this attack on critical race theory is no different than the rush during the Obama administration by states to ban Sharia law in state courts.
00:36:48.000 This is simply an extension of the Barack Obama is a secret Muslim conspiracy and the backlash to his presence in the White House.
00:36:54.000 Oh, that's what this is.
00:36:56.000 Or alternatively, some of us actually read critical race theory and we know what it is and it's bad.
00:37:01.000 Okay, but the fact is that again, all of this sort of stuff, the ideology for the left is a tool of power.
00:37:07.000 It is not about higher principle.
00:37:08.000 It is just about coalition building and tools of power.
00:37:11.000 How can you tell?
00:37:12.000 Because certain types of commentary are fine according to the left, even if they violate the intersectional strictures of the left.
00:37:18.000 It just depends who's doing it.
00:37:20.000 Hey, so to take a perfect example, yesterday, Chuck Schumer was a useful person, right?
00:37:23.000 There's a division on the left between people who are useful and people who are not.
00:37:27.000 It is not who is right and who is wrong, it's who is useful and who is not.
00:37:27.000 That's all.
00:37:30.000 Chuck Schumer is still useful because Chuck Schumer, of course, is the Senate Majority Leader.
00:37:35.000 So yesterday, he was doing a show and he used the word retarded.
00:37:39.000 And now, We've been told over and over and over that use of the word retarded, particularly when you're referring specifically to people with Down syndrome, for example, that that is not allowed.
00:37:48.000 It is uncouth.
00:37:49.000 It is ugly.
00:37:51.000 It is a slur.
00:37:53.000 Most of us have been trained on this for the last couple of decades or so.
00:37:56.000 It's pretty common to hear kids throw this around the playground in like 1993.
00:38:00.000 Not so common to hear kids throw this around the playground in like 2021.
00:38:04.000 Chuck Schumer just throws it out there.
00:38:06.000 The media said that Chuck Schumer's use of the word retarded And when I first was assemblyman, they wanted to build a congregate living place for retarded children.
00:38:14.000 The whole neighborhood was against it.
00:38:16.000 These are harmless kids.
00:38:17.000 They just needed some help.
00:38:18.000 It was not a slur.
00:38:19.000 It was just uncomfortable.
00:38:22.000 It was outmoded.
00:38:23.000 The word that Politico used was outmoded.
00:38:25.000 Here was Chuck Schumer being outmoded.
00:38:28.000 And when I first was assemblyman, they wanted to build a congregate living place for retarded children.
00:38:35.000 The whole neighborhood was against it.
00:38:36.000 These are harmless kids.
00:38:37.000 They just needed some help.
00:38:39.000 We got it done.
00:38:40.000 Okay, again, no blowback.
00:38:42.000 Outmoded.
00:38:43.000 He used some outmoded language.
00:38:44.000 Now imagine if a Republican used that word.
00:38:46.000 Ah, the world comes crashing down.
00:38:47.000 But again, Chuck Schumer, the word, the inconsistency is the point.
00:38:52.000 It's the feature, not the bug.
00:38:54.000 It is not that the left are a bunch of hypocrites.
00:38:55.000 It's that they have no standards.
00:38:57.000 The standards are merely a tool they hold you to account.
00:39:00.000 But the standards don't apply to them.
00:39:01.000 This is why Hunter Biden can use the N-word as much as he could possibly want.
00:39:04.000 No problem.
00:39:05.000 But if a 17-year-old girl used the N-word with an A at the end, imitating a rapper when she was 15 and got her driver's permit, the New York Times will run a 4,000-word piece and she will lose her scholarship slot in cheerleading at the University of Tennessee.
00:39:19.000 The standard only applies to one side of the aisle because it is just a way to beat you to death.
00:39:24.000 Everybody on the right understands this, by the way.
00:39:26.000 You want to know why the right embraced Trump?
00:39:28.000 Because they said, we're not going to hold by any of your standards.
00:39:29.000 Now, the proper answer would have been some of those standards are bad and some are good.
00:39:33.000 And let's try and figure out which are good and which are bad and hold everybody to account across the board.
00:39:36.000 But instead, what the right did is a fairly predictable thing.
00:39:39.000 They said, your standards are bull.
00:39:41.000 We know your standards are bull.
00:39:42.000 And because we know your standards are bull, we're going to elect this guy.
00:39:44.000 And you know what?
00:39:45.000 He doesn't obey any of your standards.
00:39:46.000 Tear down all the standards.
00:39:48.000 Which is a rather understandable response, if not a fully morally justified one.
00:39:54.000 And because the left doesn't have any standards.
00:39:55.000 It's not about hypocrisy.
00:39:56.000 It's about they don't have standards except standards to which they hold you to account.
00:40:02.000 Another perfect example.
00:40:02.000 So yesterday, Marjorie Taylor Greene, the controversial Republican Congresswoman from Georgia, who said a bunch of crazy things about Jewish space lasers in the past, and then she made a weird comment comparing the, and I thought, ridiculous comment comparing mask-wearing, or businesses that suggest that you should have to wear a mask when you walk in if you're unvaccinated, to the Holocaust, right?
00:40:22.000 So she went and she visited the Holocaust Center in Washington, D.C.
00:40:24.000 Now, this is normally what we demand of our politicians, right?
00:40:27.000 In fact, I recall that there was a Democratic politician in Washington, D.C.
00:40:31.000 who said that the Jews control the weather.
00:40:33.000 And then he went and he visited the Holocaust Museum, and he came out and he made an apology.
00:40:36.000 And everybody's like, okay, done.
00:40:37.000 Okay, so Marjorie Taylor Greene did the same thing.
00:40:40.000 She went to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., and she came out and she made a statement.
00:40:45.000 The horrors of the Holocaust are something that some people don't even believe happened, and some people deny, but there is no comparison to the Holocaust.
00:40:55.000 And there are words that I have said, remarks that I've made, that I know are offensive, and for that I want to apologize.
00:41:04.000 And I am just fine and very glad to be able to come out here and do that because I believe it's important.
00:41:12.000 I believe that if we're going to leave, we need to be able to leave in a way where if we've messed up, it's very important for us to say we're sorry.
00:41:21.000 OK, so she goes, she says she's sorry.
00:41:23.000 She openly apologized for the comments.
00:41:25.000 Listen, well taken.
00:41:26.000 All right.
00:41:26.000 Meanwhile, Steve Cohen, Democratic congressperson, he comes out and he's like, not enough, not enough for Marjorie Taylor Greene.
00:41:33.000 No, I refuse to accept the apology.
00:41:36.000 She didn't learn much about really the experience of the Holocaust.
00:41:41.000 She sounded like she had some phrases that she saw, maybe some I told her about the worst genocide ever or something that never happened again or never forget.
00:41:51.000 But it didn't sound like it came from the heart.
00:41:53.000 OK, I'm sorry.
00:41:55.000 So the Democratic Party watches Marjorie Taylor.
00:41:57.000 They just stripped Marjorie Taylor Greene of all of her committee assignments right over these comments.
00:42:00.000 And so Marjorie Taylor Greene lost her committee assignments.
00:42:03.000 She went to the Holocaust Museum.
00:42:04.000 She apologized.
00:42:06.000 Ilhan Omar is a wild, open anti-Semite.
00:42:08.000 Rashida Tlaib is a wild, open anti-Semite.
00:42:10.000 They, again, every other day, they just say something about how much they hate Jews, basically.
00:42:14.000 And the entire Democratic Party is like, well... And then, they quote-unquote clarify, and Nancy Pelosi will give you, well, you know, it's all good.
00:42:22.000 It's all good.
00:42:23.000 There's nothing to talk about.
00:42:24.000 Case closed.
00:42:25.000 She's still on the Foreign Affairs Committee.
00:42:27.000 So here is the point that I'm making with regard to the left.
00:42:30.000 It's all about the power.
00:42:32.000 It is not about fundamental principle.
00:42:34.000 It's about how they gain and maintain power.
00:42:36.000 I do not accept the honesty of the principles they supposedly promulgate.
00:42:40.000 I think they are lying to you.
00:42:42.000 I think they are lying to me.
00:42:43.000 I think that if they believe this stuff, they are lying to themselves.
00:42:46.000 I don't think that they hold any of these standards.
00:42:48.000 I think that when people are convenient, then they get to outlive They're bad acts, and when they're inconvenient, then we just dispose of them.
00:42:57.000 And just to flex their power, every so often you'll see the left just get somebody to issue an apology for no reason at all.
00:43:03.000 Right, so Ilhan Omar never issued an apology for anything she's ever said.
00:43:06.000 But the left will force Lin-Manuel Miranda to offer his latest apology.
00:43:10.000 So remember, Lin-Manuel Miranda has been forced to sort of offer apologies for having written Hamilton.
00:43:16.000 How dare he not make slavery the key issue in the founding of the United States in Hamilton?
00:43:22.000 And he had to issue some apologies for that.
00:43:23.000 Well, now Lin-Manuel Miranda is having to issue apologies for In the Heights, which is a racially diverse musical about people in Crown Heights in New York who are of minority persuasion.
00:43:38.000 What did he do wrong?
00:43:40.000 According to Variety.com, Lin-Manuel Miranda is now addressing criticism over the film's lack of Afro-Latino representation.
00:43:46.000 In a statement posted to Twitter, Miranda apologized for not including more dark-skinned Afro-Latinos in the film's cast, especially in the leading roles.
00:43:53.000 I started writing In the Heights because I didn't feel seen.
00:43:55.000 And over the past 20 years, all I wanted was for us, all of us, to feel seen, Miranda's statement begins.
00:44:00.000 I'm seeing the discussion around Afro-Latino representation in our film this weekend.
00:44:03.000 It is clear many in our dark-skinned Afro-Latino community don't feel sufficiently represented within it.
00:44:07.000 Particularly among the leading roles.
00:44:10.000 The discussion Miranda mentioned stems from a video article in The Root, published on Wednesday, which points out there are no dark-skinned Afro-Latinos in the film's leading roles.
00:44:18.000 So, very important for him to apologize now.
00:44:22.000 Miranda ended his statement by saying he would try to do better in the future.
00:44:26.000 Try to do better in the future.
00:44:27.000 Meanwhile, the left is trying to cudgel apologies out of Tom Hanks because Tom Hanks is not sufficiently anti-racist, he's just not a racist.
00:44:33.000 So NPR ran an op-ed from a person named Eric Deggans titled, Tom Hanks is a non-racist.
00:44:38.000 It's time for him to be anti-racist.
00:44:40.000 See, they're just going to cudgel you into the corner.
00:44:42.000 If you are a person who is a lifelong Democrat, but you have not done sufficient work, you have not done the work, they will cudgel you into the corner.
00:44:50.000 Because again, it is not about principle.
00:44:52.000 It's about power politics.
00:44:53.000 It's about getting people on board for whatever your radical agenda is today.
00:44:58.000 This article is pretty much a masterclass in this.
00:45:00.000 Eric Deggans over at NPR, he writes, First, I must note how much I love Tom Hanks as a performer, Hollywood citizen, and all-around stand-up guy.
00:45:07.000 Of course, he's a consummate actor with two Oscars and starring roles in landmark films such as Philadelphia and Forrest Gump.
00:45:13.000 He's been an outspoken advocate for gay rights and environmentalism.
00:45:16.000 So when I saw he had recently written a guest essay for the New York Times calling for more widespread teaching about the Tulsa Race Massacre, I was sincerely heartened.
00:45:23.000 Now I thought we'll see him examine how his work, so often focused on the achievements of virtuous, white, male Americans, may have made it tougher for tales about atrocities such as Tulsa to find similar space.
00:45:34.000 You see, it turns out Saving Private Ryan was not about Tulsa, but it should have been about Tulsa.
00:45:39.000 So Tom Hanks is a bad white man.
00:45:42.000 But, says Eric Deggans, he didn't fully go there.
00:45:44.000 say, quote, history was mostly written by white people about white people like me, while the history of black people, including the horrors of Tulsa was too often left out until relatively recently, the entertainment industry, which helps shape what is history and what is forgotten did the same that includes projects of mine. Then he goes on to say he learned of Tulsa from an article in the New York Times last year.
00:45:44.000 Here's what he did say.
00:46:01.000 And another line later in the piece today.
00:46:04.000 Says Eric Deggans, these are wise words, but it is not enough.
00:46:06.000 must portray the burden of racism in our nation for the sake of the art form's claims to verisimilitude and authenticity." Says Eric Deggans, these are wise words, but it is not enough. He built a career playing righteous white men. After many years of speaking out about race and media in America, I know the toughest thing for some white Americans is to admit how they were personally and specifically connected to the elevation of white culture above other But in Hanks's case, he's no average American or average Hollywood star for that matter.
00:46:35.000 Over the years, he has starred in a lot of big movies about historical events, including Saving Private Ryan, Greyhound, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Bridge of Spies, and News of the World.
00:46:42.000 He has served as producer or executive producer on even more films and TV shows based on American history, including Band of Brothers, The Pacific, John Adams, and From the Earth to the Moon.
00:46:50.000 In other words, he's a baby boomer star who has built a sizable part of his career on stories about American white men doing the right thing.
00:46:56.000 But the stories often leave out black contributions.
00:47:00.000 They often leave out how black soldiers returned home from fighting in World War II to find out they weren't allowed to use the G.I.
00:47:05.000 Bill to secure home loans in certain neighborhoods or were cheated out of claiming benefits at all.
00:47:09.000 So, let's just be clear.
00:47:10.000 This guy is now angry at Tom Hanks because saving Private Ryan didn't end with a black member of the platoon going home and being rejected from the G.I.
00:47:17.000 Bill, which would have fit seamlessly into the plot of the film.
00:47:21.000 Obviously, he should have done that.
00:47:23.000 No, Tom Hanks must be cudgeled.
00:47:25.000 It's the difference between being a non-racist and being an anti-racist.
00:47:29.000 He's saying it's time for folks like Hanks to be quote-unquote anti-racist.
00:47:35.000 If he really wants to make a difference, Hanks and other stars need to talk specifically about how their work has contributed to these problems and how they will change.
00:47:43.000 It's all about Malice Struggle Sessions.
00:47:44.000 It's all about power.
00:47:46.000 That's what we're focused on here at home.
00:47:47.000 Who can we cudgel into doing what the left wants?
00:47:49.000 Not confronting foreign adversaries, not strengthening America.
00:47:52.000 How can we cudgel other Americans into doing what we want politically by upholding standards that are completely hypocritical and utterly inconsistent on every level?
00:48:01.000 That's where we are.
00:48:02.000 So good luck to us over the next few years.
