00:00:00.000 Let's get into the HBO show girls.
00:00:02.000 So that went off the air a while back, but now it's back.
00:00:08.000 So things have changed, not, not so much for all the members of the, of the girls cast, but for some.
00:00:14.000 So here's a picture of the girls cast back in 2012.
00:00:17.000 Again, this was the show that launched Adam Driver.
00:00:20.000 Lena Dunham was a big star at the time.
00:00:22.000 Allison Williams.
00:00:24.000 This was the, the original picture for the show.
00:00:27.000 And then here is a screenshot of the girls cast now.
00:00:33.000 And it didn't go equally well for everybody.
00:00:40.000 Time.
00:00:41.000 It didn't.
00:00:43.000 Jack Antonoff was once dating Lena Dunham, and then he went on to date Margaret Qualley.
00:00:55.000 I don't know if there was like a laser eye surgery, like what happened there.
00:01:01.000 So Lena Dunham was touted as the voice of her generation.
00:01:04.000 And the voice of that generation was a whiny person who believed that men were quite terrible, responsibility was bad, and all of the rest.
00:01:14.000 Here she was announcing the reboot with her cast.
00:01:18.000 Hi, Leans.
00:01:19.000 Hi, sorry.
00:01:20.000 Have you been waiting a long time?
00:01:21.000 No, like, what, 16, 16 ish minutes?
00:01:23.000 Hi, guys.
00:01:24.000 Zosh.
00:01:25.000 Hi, Zosh.
00:01:28.000 I got another big say.
00:01:30.000 Hi, Jen.
00:01:31.000 Do you hear me?
00:01:33.000 I'm just going to find a lighter, okay?
00:01:35.000 She should be permanently muted.
00:01:37.000 Yeah, what did you want to ask us, Leans?
00:01:39.000 Okay, so we used to spend like every summer together, you know, doing this thing that we do, making this show.
00:01:44.000 And is it something that you would want to do again?
00:01:48.000 Are you free next summer?
00:01:49.000 I mean, as long as it's not too much of a commitment, I'm not doing like a year.
00:01:53.000 Yeah, one summer's worth.
00:01:56.000 I can't tell what I'm hearing right now.
00:01:57.000 So I'm just going to ask Are you in?
00:02:00.000 I'm in.
00:02:00.000 I'm in.
00:02:01.000 I'm in.
00:02:01.000 What's up, ladies?
00:02:03.000 Hi.
00:02:04.000 What are we doing next summer?
00:02:05.000 Girls.
00:02:06.000 Would you want to do girls again next summer? 0.75
00:02:08.000 I'm in. 1.00
00:02:08.000 But only because you trash cans need constant supervision. 1.00
00:02:12.000 I have a question though, seriously.
00:02:13.000 Can we still call it girls?
00:02:15.000 Because we're like old as f.
00:02:24.000 So, the voice of, again, the voices of the generation, it didn't all age particularly well.
00:02:28.000 You'll remember that there was a major controversy surrounding Lena Dunham at the time.
00:02:32.000 Because, again, they kept kind of touting her as the voice of a generation. 0.98
00:02:35.000 And it turns out she's a big weirdo. 0.91
00:02:36.000 And she's been kind of a big weirdo ever since. 0.99
00:02:40.000 In fact, she wrote a memoir in which, She talked about playing with her sister's genitals as a child. 0.96
00:02:48.000 And we were kind of in the center of that controversy way back when.
00:02:52.000 This is before Daily Wire.
00:02:54.000 I was the head of a website called Truth Revolt, which was a division of the David Horowitz Freedom Center.
00:02:59.000 And we reported on what she wrote in her memoir, and she demanded that we withdraw it.
00:03:04.000 And we said, we refuse to withdraw our story or apologize for running it because quoting a women's book does not constitute a false story, even if she is a prominent actress and left wing activist.
00:03:13.000 Lena Dunham may not like our interpretation of her book, but unfortunately for her and her attorneys, she wrote that book.
00:03:17.000 And the First Amendment covers a good deal of material she may not like.
00:03:22.000 And then her sister at the time suggested, quote, heteronormativity deems certain behaviors harmful and others normal.
00:03:28.000 The state and media are always invested in maintaining that. 1.00
00:03:30.000 Well, that's the politics of girls. 1.00
00:03:31.000 So we don't look that much forward to girls coming back, but I assume that that is a thing that is going to happen. 0.99
00:03:39.000 Well, in more salutary cultural news. 0.99
00:03:43.000 So I will admit I was a little surprised by this one.
00:03:47.000 I can't say that I'm like a heavy metal guy, there are some heavy metal songs I like.
00:03:53.000 I, there's some, there's some Ozzy.
00:03:56.000 My now six year old, big Ozzy fan.
00:03:59.000 Also a fan of not death metal, but I don't even know what kind of metal it's called.
00:04:06.000 She likes Sabaton.
00:04:08.000 We've got some Sabaton fans in the house.
00:04:10.000 Well, now I'm going to have to introduce them to the work of Slayer, the children.
00:04:16.000 Because Slayer's bass player is a guy named Tom Araya, and he's wearing a Ben Shapiro shirt at a recent concert, which is awesome.
00:04:24.000 It is a Jewish star with my name emblazoned on it.
00:04:28.000 And I promise you, we didn't make it, right?
00:04:29.000 That, like, that's not a Daily Wire production, that sure.
00:04:31.000 We should probably now.
00:04:34.000 But, um, because badass, kind of loving it.
00:04:38.000 Not sure where this is coming from, but we will have to find out in short order what, like, what prompted this because kind of wonderful, kind of awesome.
00:04:46.000 I will admit, by the way, that there are some other heavy metal stars who I know of who are, who are fans of the show.
00:04:52.000 So we'll keep an eye on it, but I, I like two thumbs up.
00:04:57.000 That is good.
00:04:59.000 We're going to have to host it.
00:05:00.000 You know what we'll have to do?
00:05:00.000 We'll have to do a Ben Shapiro live show where Slayer opens.
00:05:05.000 It'll be like Slayer followed by a string quartet playing Bach.
00:05:08.000 I think that that would probably do it.
00:05:11.000 Meanwhile, the folks at Motley Crue are out there announcing they don't care about your politics.
00:05:15.000 Again, counter programming the left wing politics of the culture is actually a pretty good idea.
00:05:22.000 It does not matter to Motley Crue if you're a Republican, it does not matter to Motley Crue if you're a Democrat.
00:05:28.000 It does not.
00:05:29.000 If you're gay or if you're straight or if you're going right down the center of the blade in life because we're all in this together.
00:05:38.000 Can we agree?
00:05:43.000 Like, this seems like a smart way to do the culture.
00:05:46.000 I guess that's not a bad thing to do.
00:05:48.000 By the way, it is really interesting to me how, you know, we put out the trailer for Confession and immediately everybody jumped to this must be right wing adjunct prop.
00:05:55.000 Okay, listen, we're a conservative company, no doubt.
00:05:58.000 But is it possible that we just made a good movie?
00:06:00.000 Just because it doesn't share the wild left wing values of Hollywood, where the commies are very often the good guys, that doesn't mean that it's a piece of adjunct problem.
00:06:08.000 That's the way that the left works.
00:06:09.000 The way that the left works is that everything that is not overtly left must be right coded.
00:06:14.000 And that's, that's not the way the world is.
00:06:17.000 But, you know, I guess they can keep doing this routine if they seek to do it.
00:06:20.000 They're just going to alienate well over half the population.
00:06:23.000 So again, Hollywood feels like it's getting a little tired.
00:06:26.000 I will note that.
00:06:27.000 And maybe the reason that we're being so successful with our entertainment program here at Daily Wire is because Hollywood's getting a little long in the tooth.
00:06:34.000 They're getting a little tired.
00:06:36.000 I mean, retreading girls like a decade late, retreading that really.
00:06:41.000 Yeah, nothing else in the can coming out.
00:06:44.000 This is, um, there's a movie called Disney's the kid, where there's a little kid from the 50s and he sort of arrives in modernity and he's flipping through channels because back when cable was a thing, he's a hundred channels and nothing to watch.
00:06:56.000 And it does feel like that sometimes, but we're trying to correct that by making things that you actually want to watch again.
00:07:01.000 Another reason you should help us.
00:07:02.000 With your support and your membership.
00:07:03.000 What an amazing video you just watched!
00:07:05.000 Wasn't that amazing?
