00:00:00.000 Well, the culture is just filled with terrible takes today.
00:00:02.000 We watch a trailer from an America 250 docuseries produced by Tom Hanks.
00:00:06.000 Larry David is apparently embarrassed to be an American because of Trump or something.
00:00:10.000 And it looks like Shaq could be a flat earther.
00:00:12.000 Honestly, it's a little charming, kind of.
00:00:14.000 Watch till the end to hear the one conspiracy theory I actually do believe in.
00:00:17.000 Apparently, Netflix is going to be putting out a 250th anniversary five part documentary series called The American Experiment.
00:00:25.000 It's directed by somebody named Brian Knappenberger, and it features a bunch of voices, including, of course, Hillary Clinton.
00:00:32.000 It's executive produced by Tom Hanks, among others.
00:00:34.000 Here is what the trailer looks like.
00:00:37.000 Well, I personally think the Electoral College is an abomination for obvious reasons.
00:00:44.000 James Wilson is sort of a shadowy figure to most.
00:00:49.000 I mean, if you ask 500 Americans, they would never have heard of him.
00:00:54.000 He did the one thing that we wish he hadn't done at the convention.
00:00:58.000 He came up with the Electoral College.
00:01:02.000 Okay, so the Electoral College is bad.
00:01:04.000 The Electoral College is a group of people called together for one purpose to decide who's going to be president.
00:01:13.000 You can think of the Electoral College as a compromise on top of a compromise on top of a compromise.
00:01:21.000 Your number of electors is your number of House members.
00:01:26.000 So Southerners will get some slave representation in the small states because every state gets two senators, it's going to do a little better in the Electoral College than they do in the House.
00:01:40.000 The founders themselves were not in love with the Electoral College.
00:01:43.000 It was defective from the beginning.
00:01:46.000 We have a problem that a minority of the population, because of the structure of the Electoral College, in some cases, with the objections of the majority, is ruling the majority.
00:01:59.000 I'm one who finds virtue in the Electoral College.
00:02:02.000 And it's not just because I come from a smaller state, Arizona, that may benefit more than a larger state like California.
00:02:10.000 It emphasizes our system of federalism.
00:02:13.000 We are not a direct democracy or representative democracy.
00:02:17.000 The states have considerable power.
00:02:19.000 The states run elections.
00:02:20.000 That is a good thing to decentralize that kind of power.
00:02:25.000 Okay, so you can kind of see the rip.
00:02:30.000 The Electoral College is going to be the bad guy.
00:02:33.000 Okay, so we'll find out how it is, but we'll see how it is.
00:02:36.000 I'm going to withhold judgment until I've watched more of it.
00:02:39.000 I will say that if this is the stuff they're saying about the Electoral College, wait until they get to their take.
00:02:45.000 On was America founded in original sin?
00:02:48.000 Is this a 1619 project or is this actual American history?
00:02:51.000 I suppose we'll find out.
00:02:52.000 Okay.
00:02:52.000 Meanwhile, Larry David is out there saying that the UFC fight made him embarrassed to be an American.
00:02:58.000 Of all the things, the UFC fight, that was the thing that made you embarrassed to be an American?
00:03:01.000 First of all, I'm not sure why you should be embarrassed to be an American.
00:03:04.000 Like, why?
00:03:05.000 We've had a lot of embarrassing things happen in our history.
00:03:08.000 In our recent history, we had a president who was dead for several years.
00:03:11.000 That was kind of embarrassing, but it didn't make me embarrassed to be an American.
00:03:14.000 It made me embarrassed that that guy was the president, but that's a different thing.
00:03:17.000 Here's Larry David.
00:03:20.000 This is your way of celebrating America.
00:03:22.000 The White House did it much differently with the UFC fight.
00:03:25.000 What did you think about that?
00:03:28.000 It was a travesty.
00:03:32.000 What else can you say about it?
00:03:34.000 It was embarrassing.
00:03:35.000 I was embarrassed to be an American.
00:03:39.000 Yeah.
00:03:40.000 Yeah.
00:03:41.000 We all get over ourselves.
00:03:42.000 We all know that if this had been done by the Biden administration, I mean, granted, it wasn't a trans influencer shaking his fake breasts.
00:03:50.000 On the White House lawn, but it was, you know, Senator John Fetterman, again, the only voice of reason left in America, apparently.
00:03:58.000 He told the TMZ reporter that Larry David should probably just let it go.
00:04:03.000 Larry David, right now, is going viral because he said that the UFC event at the White House made him embarrassed to be an American.
00:04:11.000 To that, you say what?
00:04:13.000 I'd say, lighten up, Francis.
00:04:15.000 You know, really kind of get over himself.
00:04:19.000 You know, like, hey, I'm proud to be American.
00:04:22.000 And if you are embarrassed or whatever because of a UFC thing, get over yourself, dude.
00:04:31.000 John Fetterman.
00:04:32.000 What a refreshing person he is, honestly.
00:04:34.000 It's kind of glorious.
00:04:35.000 We'll get to more on this in a moment.
00:04:37.000 First, most people spend 30 years paying off a house.
00:04:39.000 30 years, a long time, making mortgage payments, paying property taxes.
00:04:42.000 You maintain it, you pour money into it, you build equity year after year.
00:04:45.000 So here's the question After spending decades making something yours, how much thought have you given to actually protecting the ownership of the thing?
00:04:52.000 For 250 years, one of the great promises of America has been the freedom to own property.
00:04:56.000 But today, criminals can use public information and a forged signature to legally transfer home ownership into their own name.
00:05:01.000 Getting it back could take months, even years.
00:05:04.000 Thousands in legal fees just to reclaim what's already yours.
00:05:06.000 That's why we trust the experts at Home Title Lock.

00:05:39.000 Okay, well, meanwhile, Shaquille O'Neal, I have to admit, I have a soft spot for Shaquille O'Neal.
00:05:43.000 I enjoy Shaq.
00:05:45.000 I think that he is kind of delightful.
00:05:47.000 I recently read an excellent book by Jeff Perlman about the Los Angeles Lakers.
00:05:52.000 By the way, highly recommended.
00:05:53.000 It's a great read.
00:05:54.000 Perlman is maybe the best sports writer in the country.
00:05:57.000 He's really, really, really good.
00:05:58.000 His books are terrific.
00:05:59.000 And Jeff Perlman has a book called Three Ring Circus about the Shaq Kobe Lakers.
00:06:05.000 And Shaq comes off pretty well as sort of a delightful human being.
00:06:08.000 But apparently, he might be a flat earther, which is unfortunate.
00:06:10.000 Like, why are we?
00:06:13.000 Why, though?
00:06:13.000 Why?
00:06:14.000 Why?
00:06:17.000 You don't think Earth is flat?
00:06:19.000 Huh?
00:06:19.000 What?
00:06:20.000 I'm just asking a question.
00:06:21.000 Do you?
00:06:23.000 I'm just saying.
00:06:24.000 Oh, my God.
00:06:26.000 My question is what is the advantage the people in power have that if it's actually flat, I'm thinking it's round?
00:06:35.000 Like, what does that get them?
00:06:37.000 I don't know.
00:06:37.000 I don't know.
00:06:38.000 Like, I get the other things.
00:06:40.000 I just said I fly a lot.
00:06:42.000 Oh, my God.
00:06:44.000 I didn't know this.
00:06:45.000 I'm going to let you cook.
00:06:47.000 One time I took a 25 hour flight and the plane never did this.
00:06:51.000 That's all I said.
00:06:53.000 That's all I said.
00:06:54.000 That's how it works.
00:06:56.000 If you're on a map.
00:06:56.000 Hold on.
00:06:57.000 Excuse me, the plane's supposed to constantly be dipping slower.
00:06:59.000 If you're on a map, if the U.S. is here and another country is there, when I was going to that country, the plane never did that.
00:07:04.000 That's all I said.
00:07:06.000 That's all I said.
00:07:07.000 Because this is what you notice when you fly over the United States.
00:07:09.000 Map, if USA is over here, there's another country over here on the bottom, whatever.
00:07:14.000 When you fly, my plane never did that.
00:07:15.000 That's all I said.
00:07:18.000 What the?
00:07:20.000 Not Shaq's best take.
00:07:22.000 Not his best take.
00:07:24.000 It's funny because all these flat earthers have never discovered the edge.
00:07:28.000 Like, where does it end?
00:07:29.000 Where do you just fall off the earth?
00:07:30.000 Where does that happen?
00:07:32.000 When he was flying his plane, did he ever fly past the edge of the earth and just found himself in space?
00:07:37.000 How does this work exactly?
00:07:38.000 Oh, my goodness.
00:07:40.000 Oh, no.
00:07:41.000 Not great.
00:07:41.000 The problem is that there are a lot of people who do this kind of stuff.
00:07:44.000 Like, people who actually, like, Shaq is not an influential political thinker, but there are a bunch of people.
00:07:44.000 Like, really?
00:07:50.000 Candace Owens has a whole flat earth thing.
00:07:52.000 Like, I don't know, man.
00:07:53.000 Like, enough.
00:07:54.000 It's just, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:07:56.000 But again, put all that aside, I like Shaq.
00:07:58.000 Shaq's kind of delightful.
00:08:00.000 All righty.
00:08:00.000 So, as far as conspiracy theories that I've been asked by producer Savvy in my ear, a conspiracy theory that I believe in.
00:08:06.000 The only conspiracy theory that I find somewhat plausible is that Justin Trudeau is Fidel Castro's son.
00:08:11.000 And mainly because I find it amusing, not because I actually think it's true.
00:08:14.000 I mean, he kind of looks like Fidel Castro, and his mom was kind of known for, you know, some stuff.
00:08:19.000 But all the other conspiracy theories, like, here's the thing there are conspiracies and they have evidence to back them.
00:08:26.000 So, for example, that the Wuhan virus came from Wuhan.
00:08:29.000 Like the lab.
00:08:30.000 That's not a theory because, like, there's actual evidence to back it.
00:08:33.000 Like, it's an actual conspiracy.
00:08:35.000 As far as kind of like the big famous conspiracy theories, I don't believe any of them because they require an enormous amount of compliance from a bunch of people.
00:08:42.000 And if there's one thing that I have found in my brief time upon this earth, it is that human beings are unbelievably stupid.
00:08:48.000 And so the idea that you could get thousands of human beings to be complicit in a complex scheme to deceive all of us that we landed on the moon or that the earth is actually flat or that JFK was actually shot by some Strange melange of foreign parties.
00:09:03.000 Again, people suck at everything.
00:09:04.000 And so I find that one very, all the ones that require huge human buy in.
00:09:08.000 If it requires like one person doing a thing, that's not a conspiracy theory.
00:09:11.000 Usually it's just speculation.
00:09:13.000 Conspiracy theory requires like a big cover up.
00:09:14.000 If there's a big cover up, very, very difficult to pull off a gigantic cover up because again, people are dumb.
00:09:19.000 What an amazing video you just watched.
00:09:21.000 Wasn't that amazing?
