00:00:00.000 I mean, this is a small, small thing.
00:00:03.000 I'm trying to make it magical.
00:00:06.000 I want to make it feel like magic.
00:00:11.000 That's director Greta Gerwig talking about her new Narnia property over at Netflix.
00:00:16.000 She's not making it magical.
00:00:17.000 She transced Aslan and she put eyeliner on The Lion and she turned the whole thing into a rock David Bowie knockoff.
00:00:26.000 And Netflix paid $280 million for that. 0.97
00:00:29.000 And now they're firing a thousand employees and many of their top executives.
00:00:32.000 What went wrong?
00:00:33.000 Well, I mean, short story, go woke, go broke.
00:00:43.000 I don't know what the hell Netflix is doing.
00:00:45.000 Their executives have been programming slop.
00:00:47.000 I mean, like true slop.
00:00:48.000 And now it seems as though things are off the rails. 1.00
00:00:52.000 You know, hiring that feminist Unitarian Universalist to direct one of the most important pieces of Christian IP, particularly for kids of like literally all time, that was a stupid idea. 0.99
00:01:01.000 I know what those executives were doing. 0.98
00:01:04.000 They're literally sitting there like, hey, Greta Garwood's famous.
00:01:07.000 And she once went to church.
00:01:08.000 Hey, Narnia, that's a famous IP.
00:01:10.000 And that has to do with like Jesus and stuff.
00:01:12.000 Let's just put them together and we'll just.
00:01:14.000 Take some money and just spray it from a fire hose on it, and that'll be great.
00:01:17.000 People will love it.
00:01:20.000 No one is loving it.
00:01:21.000 Netflix seems to be in a state of mild meltdown.
00:01:25.000 So, Netflix stock is down roughly 25% in 2026.
00:01:29.000 Its Q3 earnings are coming up later today.
00:01:32.000 The company made two big moves.
00:01:34.000 Since Wall Street started telling it what to fix last week, they cut staff and they installed a new chief content officer.
00:01:40.000 The stock closed Friday about $70.
00:01:41.000 That's down from 93.76 at the end of 2025.
00:01:46.000 That's 35% below its mid April high.
00:01:51.000 Co CEO Ted Serendos admitted the company is not growing as fast as I want us to.
00:01:54.000 He's pointing toward live programming as a potential growth driver.
00:01:57.000 But Netflix fired a man named Dan Lin, who is the chief content officer.
00:02:02.000 Here's what Variety is reporting Everyone is collateral damage.
00:02:06.000 That's how one top Netflix insider summarized another bloody Monday at the streamer, which saw Dan Lin ousted as the company's head of film.
00:02:13.000 Following last week's 6% workforce reduction in Netflix, Which claimed victims, including Chief Content Officer Bella Baharia and Lynn's right hand, Doug Belgrad, consensus said it was a matter of time before co CEO Ted Serendos would show Lynn the door, and it took one day.
00:02:28.000 Now, why is all of that happening?
00:02:31.000 Four sources with knowledge of the matter said that indeed, Lynn and Greta Gerwig had a falling out during a Zoom call about Narnia earlier this year.
00:02:40.000 On a virtual meeting populated by numerous Netflix executives, Lynn is said to have been dismissive to the director in conversation about the progress of the film.
00:02:48.000 Lynn is known to be incredibly fair, but at times obtuse in his frankness.
00:02:51.000 Word traveled fast around Netflix.
00:02:53.000 The meeting had gone south, at which point, sources said Baharia called at Gerwig's producer, Amy Pascal, to smooth things over.
00:02:58.000 Two sources also said Gerwig's new, all powerful CAA agent, Brian Lord, went to Serenzos directly over the faux pas, and Lynn was subsequently disappeared from the film.
00:03:06.000 So it sounds like Lynn was actually resistant to Greta Gerwig turning Netflix into an abomination.
00:03:13.000 The news gets worse for Netflix on the Narnia abomination.
00:03:16.000 Again, we've played that trailer. 0.59
00:03:18.000 This is the Netflix Narnia trailer that involves the transing of Aslan.
00:03:24.000 Now, woman voices Aslan, who's the Jesus character in the Narnia books, and also turned the entire thing into a glam rock 1970s spectacle.
00:03:34.000 According to geeks and gamers, Netflix may have a $280 million problem on its hands.
00:03:38.000 Just one day after Greta Gerwig's controversial Narnia, the Magician's Nephew trailer debuted, a new insider report alleges that the expensive fantasy adaptation has been plagued by disappointing test screenings, additional filming, and growing tensions behind the scenes.
00:03:50.000 No shock there.
00:03:52.000 One source reportedly described the film as awful.
00:03:55.000 Another characterized the situation as a genuine problem.
00:03:58.000 According to World of Reels October 14th report, an individual who attended the screening compared Gerwig's film to Disney's notorious 2018 fantasy adaptation, A Wrinkle in Time.
00:04:07.000 Now, everybody knew this was going to happen who had a brain or who was even Christian familiar.
00:04:16.000 See, here's the thing Greta Gerwig is kind of Christian curious, but that does not make her a Christian.
00:04:21.000 She is not someone who, at a deep and fundamental level, agrees with the philosophy of C.S. Lewis.
00:04:26.000 So she'll say she appreciates Catholicism, but then she says that she likes the Virgin Mary because it connects with pagan energy and she doesn't like the God the Father thing.
00:04:36.000 So she speaks religion as a foreign language, which, when you're adapting one of the great IPs of Christian literature in the 20th century, you probably want someone who actually agrees with the general direction of the IP.
00:04:51.000 Here's Greta Gerwig being asked by Stephen Colbert about how her faith informs her work.
00:04:54.000 Let's just say this is something that I would say Christian believers don't tend to say.
00:05:01.000 How does faith influence your work? 0.84
00:05:05.000 Well, I think it's been a threat through all of my work, and as you said before, we met through Lady Bird.
00:05:13.000 Lady Bird was my taking my experience of going to Catholic school and how that shaped me and who I was and kind of transformed my understanding of the world.
00:05:24.000 I think that it's something that for me, film and faith have always gone hand in hand.
00:05:33.000 I think growing up, going to church, singing in the choir, it was a place where.
00:05:37.000 People gathered together to experience something, the very act of making a film is an act of faith in and of itself.
00:05:49.000 How's the act of making a film an act of faith in and of itself?
00:05:50.000 It kind of depends on the contents of the film, no?
00:05:53.000 You know, the question isn't whether you should take all of your money and just like plow it into precious metals.
00:05:56.000 The question is whether having a portion in physical precious metals makes sense as a counterbalance when the dollar continues losing purchasing power.
00:06:03.000 Golden Crest Metals can help you understand the option.
00:06:05.000 Transparent pricing, widely recognized coins, zero buyback fees, actual people answering the phone.
00:06:10.000 Golden Crest will send you their free 2026 Precious Metals Info Kit.
00:06:13.000 No pressure, no commitment, no sales call required.
00:06:16.000 Read it and then decide if it's right for you.
00:06:18.000 Again, in times of chaos, it is smart to diversify into a thing that has never been worth zero and that the central banks are buying at exorbitant rates right now.
00:06:26.000 Precious Metals, a great way to keep yourself a little safe.
00:06:29.000 Call 888 429 3999.
00:06:31.000 Text Ben to Metals, that's 638 257, or go to GoldenCrestMetals.comslash Ben.
00:06:37.000 Again, that's GoldenCrestMetals.comslash Ben.
00:06:39.000 Call 8888 429 3999, or text Ben to Metals 638 257.
00:06:44.000 Two five seven right now.
00:06:47.000 Um, okay.
00:06:47.000 So just going to point out every single human who is of Judeo Christian religious bent knew anybody's a fan of C.S. Lewis, and I am a massive fan of C.S. Lewis.
00:06:57.000 I own a signed copy of the screw tape letters.
00:06:59.000 I'm like the biggest fan of C.S. Lewis there is.
00:07:02.000 Anybody who's a fan of C.S. Lewis knew this was going to be a disaster.
00:07:05.000 Here is how Hollywood thinks because they are just, they speak Christianity or conservatism or biblical values as a foreign language.
00:07:13.000 They don't know anyone who lives in that world, truly.
00:07:15.000 And so they thought, hey, Famous IP, Narnia.
00:07:19.000 Famous director from Barbie, Greta Gerwig.
00:07:21.000 She's been to church once.
00:07:23.000 That'll be a hit.
00:07:24.000 And everybody out here was like, uh, what now?
00:07:28.000 What you doing?
00:07:29.000 That's not gonna work.
00:07:30.000 I watch Barbie.
00:07:31.000 I know what its value system is. 0.66
00:07:33.000 I know what Greta Gerwig thinks. 1.00
00:07:35.000 This is stupid. 0.99
00:07:37.000 And the sort of ishtarization of Narnia, where you just take a bunch of stars and kind of shove it in there. 1.00
00:07:41.000 I ain't gonna do it.
00:07:43.000 But this is the problem.
00:07:43.000 That's not gonna work.
00:07:45.000 It's a perfect example of go woke, go broke.
00:07:48.000 And particularly go woke slop.
00:07:49.000 Go broke.
00:07:50.000 So, I want to give you a couple of other examples from the Netflix universe right now.
00:07:53.000 So, Netflix over the last week put out a series called Below.
00:07:58.000 Below is a sort of Jaws like story about a giant squid that's essentially terrorizing a town.
00:08:06.000 Okay, so in Jaws, the shark's bad, right?
00:08:10.000 It's like the evil of nature or the danger of nature.
00:08:14.000 In Below, the squid is only unleashed on humanity because humanity is bad, because humanity did global warming.
00:08:23.000 And so, spoiler alerts the squid is only mad because her baby squid, it's a mama squid, her baby squid is threatened.
00:08:30.000 Her baby giant squid is threatened because the iceberg in which she is nesting her egg has melted.
00:08:37.000 So it is the cruelty and evil of man that is responsible for the squid eating all the people.
00:08:44.000 Spoiler alert complete. 1.00
00:08:47.000 That's stupid and it makes the show bad and silly. 1.00
00:08:49.000 I'm going to take one that's closer to my heart East of Eden. 1.00
00:08:52.000 Okay, now I am like target our audience for East of Eden.
00:08:56.000 When we did Ben's book club, we actually did East of Eden as one of the books.
00:08:58.000 I have a signed copy of Steinbeck as well.
00:09:01.000 East of Eden is one of my favorite books ever.
00:09:02.000 I love East of Eden.
00:09:03.000 I don't reread books very often because I have a good memory for books.
00:09:06.000 I've read East of Eden three, four times.
00:09:08.000 My wife's favorite book is East of Eden.
00:09:10.000 So if you're talking about like core audience, core, core audience for a new production of East of Eden, which has been decades in the making, the last East of Eden project was made by Elia Kazan back in the 50s and it starred James Dean.
00:09:24.000 Okay, so the new East of Eden project is supposed to be taking the entirety of the book.
00:09:28.000 Now, they give it to Zoe Kazan, who's Elia Kazan's granddaughter. 0.87
00:09:33.000 And the entire premise of East of Eden, not to get into literary abstruseness here, the entire base of East of Eden, for those who have not read the book, the villain of the piece is a woman called Kathy.
00:09:45.000 Kathy is described basically as the snake in the garden. 0.98
00:09:49.000 She is inherently evil. 0.94
00:09:51.000 This is the main point of Steinbeck's book that there is such a thing as unfathomable evil.
00:09:56.000 It is not explicable, it is not justifiable, it exists in the world.
00:10:00.000 And also, you are not bound to it, right?
00:10:03.000 That is the theme of East of Eden.
00:10:04.000 So Kathy has a child, her child's name is.
00:10:06.000 Is Cal.
00:10:07.000 She has a couple of kids.
00:10:08.000 One of them is Cal.
00:10:09.000 And Cal believes that he is basically cursed by his mother's evil.
00:10:12.000 And the entire second half of the book is about him learning that he has the power to overcome that evil.
00:10:16.000 Okay, that is the entire thematic of the book.
00:10:18.000 In fact, when Steinbeck wrote the book, his publishers asked him, Why don't you give Kathy a backstory and explain why she's evil?
00:10:25.000 He said, You're missing the entire point of the book.
00:10:27.000 The point is, some evil is inexplicable.
00:10:30.000 There is some evil that cannot be explained by past experience, right?
00:10:34.000 So that's the entire point of the book.
00:10:36.000 That's the entire point of East of Eden.
00:10:37.000 Okay, so my wife and I start watching.
00:10:38.000 Literally, the first episode.
00:10:40.000 Kathy is now the narrator.
00:10:43.000 And Kathy, who in the book is a murderess and an adulteress and a prostitute, and she's the, maybe the worst character in all of literature.
00:10:54.000 She's the narrator explaining that life is complex and morality is complex. 0.80
00:10:58.000 And by episode two, you're learning the reason that Kathy is so evil is because, wait for it, she was molested as a child.
00:11:06.000 Because it turns out that if you just take classic IP and you turn it inside out in favor of a modernistic reframing, A feminist reframing of East of Eden, you end up with something that doesn't look like East of Eden.
00:11:17.000 And so my wife and I, who are like core audience of East of Eden, we are out by episode two.
00:11:21.000 Okay, this is how Netflix blows it.
00:11:25.000 Because it's not even that they're super duper woke, although they are.
00:11:28.000 The truth is that Netflix, like a lot of these places, they do not speak conservative at all.
00:11:35.000 They don't even speak traditional values at all.
00:11:37.000 Just like you can't read East of Eden, you cannot read it without knowing the Bible.
00:11:40.000 You can't.
00:11:41.000 You can't read East of Eden without having read the first.
00:11:44.000 Four chapters, I would say, of the book of Genesis.
00:11:47.000 You must, in order to understand even what's going on in East of Eden.
00:11:51.000 Okay, but none of these people have, and they don't know anyone who has. 0.88
00:11:54.000 And so it's like, hey, just take this IP, throw it at somebody who doesn't know their ass from their elbow on this sort of stuff, and it'll be fine. 0.94
00:12:01.000 It's a gigantic blind spot, and the gigantic blind spot is poisoning them. 0.96
00:12:05.000 It's a huge problem for them.
00:12:06.000 And you can see it everywhere.
00:12:08.000 So Netflix, they've signed a ton of podcasts, is one of their things now.
00:12:12.000 They have a bunch of podcasts.
00:12:13.000 They have the Ringer Network.
00:12:14.000 Again, I love a lot of shows on the Ringer Network.
00:12:16.000 I'm a big fan of a lot of what Bill Simmons is doing.
00:12:19.000 But they brought on Chelsea Handler and Jay Shetty and Brian Williams.
00:12:23.000 Not one person who could fairly be described as right of censor.
00:12:26.000 Not one.
00:12:27.000 Now, I can tell you, I mean, as a person with a very large podcast on the right, there are a lot of people on the right who have fairly large outlets.
00:12:35.000 Netflix is not talking with any of them because they're so afraid of alienating their left wing employees that they end up making a bunch of left wing junk just by default.
00:12:44.000 And so Netflix has basically become cable television of 2004 100 channels and nothing to watch.
00:12:49.000 And that is why they are failing right now.
00:12:52.000 When you go over to your local cell phone provider, what they will do is they will offer you a smorgasbord of options, tons of different options.
00:12:58.000 And they all seem really interesting and cool.
00:12:59.000 And then you get really bored and you're like, oh my God, this is taking forever.
00:13:02.000 And then you just buy whichever one gives you unlimited data and you spend too much for that thing.
00:13:06.000 Don't do that.
00:13:07.000 Instead, just talk to my friends over at PureTalk.

00:13:49.000 I was traveling a few weeks ago, just didn't sleep all that well because I was not on my Helix sleep mattress.
00:13:53.000 Now I am and I am sleeping better, which is good because I have lots and lots of kids who wake me up all the time.
00:13:57.000 So when I get on the mattress, I need to be asleep.
00:14:00.000 Well, now Helix has the best offer it's ever given.
00:14:03.000 The sleep trial used to be 120 nights.
00:14:04.000 It's now a full 365 night sleep trial.

00:14:21.000 Again, that's a 365 night sleep trial.
00:14:24.000 Helix can offer that entire year because they know that you're going to love the mattress.
00:14:27.000 Once you're lying on it every night, you're going to feel better.
00:14:29.000 Go to helixleep.comslash Ben, get 20% off store wide during Helix's fall sales event.
00:14:34.000 Again, that's helixleep.comslash Ben, and get 20% off store wide.
00:14:38.000 Helixleep.comslash Ben.
00:14:41.000 So, actually, we have contrast.
00:14:42.000 I'm going to talk about what properties in Netflix performed the best this year.
00:14:46.000 So, their number one movie was a movie titled War Machine, which is basically just a sci fi shoot em up because it turns out people are fine with apolitical sci fi shoot em ups.
00:14:55.000 And then The Rip, which was the Ben Affleck, Matt Damon wildly overrated crime movie.
00:14:59.000 It could have been so much better, but it's essentially apolitical.
00:15:03.000 Again, that movie did very well for them.
00:15:05.000 Apparently, it had 136 million views.
00:15:07.000 War Machine had 147 million views.
00:15:11.000 And then their next biggest thing was Apex, which was essentially just a horror thriller with Charlize Theron.
00:15:17.000 And again, these are all sort of like basic mainstream normie pieces of entertainment.
00:15:23.000 But they keep pouring money into all of these sort of quasi woke material or wokeifying existing IP.
00:15:30.000 And it's the latter thing, by the way, that's so much more insulting.
00:15:33.000 Wokeifying existing IP is so much worse than just coming up with new. 0.99
00:15:36.000 Like, below is a little bit offensive in the sense that it's stupid. 0.90
00:15:40.000 But what they do to Narnia here is like the most offensive. 0.98
00:15:43.000 Again, taking treasured IP and then robbing it of its actual meaning because he had a big name director and then firing executives who point out that it sucks, that is a great way to destroy yourself.
00:15:52.000 Now, it may be that some other studios are beginning to get the picture over here.
00:15:57.000 So, Paramount Plus, for example, Paramount Plus is orienting itself in a bit of a different direction from every available rumor.
00:16:03.000 Obviously, they picked up Tyler Sheridan, who's sort of known as a blue state writer for red state Americans.
00:16:09.000 And so many of his shows will have kind of these monologues that kind of trend right because Tyler Sheridan has met a conservative once or twice.
00:16:17.000 The people at Netflix apparently are totally incompetent at this.
00:16:20.000 And so they seem to be aiming over and over at the same Bridgerton crowd.
00:16:23.000 Bridgerton, of course, is the famous show in which all of the women and men of the pre Victorian age are of color in Britain.
00:16:34.000 It's the Shonda Rhimes show.
00:16:37.000 But when you look at the stuff that's actually succeeding, it seems to be pretty much all the action flicks, all of the sort of mainstream normie entertainment.
00:16:47.000 That's not the stuff that gets the press, though.
00:16:49.000 And I have to say that very often what you see in a lot of these arenas is the stuff that gets the press, is the stuff that the producers like to keep producing.
00:16:56.000 It's the stuff that the executives like to keep approving.
00:16:58.000 Listen, we're happy to pick up the pieces here at Daily Wire.
00:17:01.000 I mean, we are more than happy to provide competition.
00:17:04.000 Honestly, the entertainment slate that we are bringing out and that we have brought out over the course of this year, right? 1.00
00:17:10.000 Run, hide, fight, infidels, and then confession, and we have much more, much, much more coming over the course of the year, is just better. 0.95
00:17:16.000 It is legitimately better than a studio like Netflix that is spending billions of dollars on their content. 0.97
00:17:24.000 Why?
00:17:25.000 Because Netflix does not have a vision right now, and because they're not fluent.
00:17:30.000 In the broad panoply of Americanism.
00:17:31.000 They're just not.
00:17:33.000 And they're paying the price for that.
00:17:35.000 This happens to be true in a wide variety of sort of entertainment arenas, by the way. 1.00
00:17:38.000 So the WNBA is militantly attached to the idea that they must never be a successful league. 1.00
00:17:43.000 It truly is an amazing thing.
00:17:45.000 So, according to Fox and Outkick, WNBA players left the court for the national anthem for the second time during the finals.
00:17:52.000 They're bound and determined to destroy whatever goodwill they have with the American public.
00:17:56.000 The Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries were off the court for the national anthem before game two of the WNBA finals on Monday night.
00:18:03.000 Repeating their game one absences, despite a provision in the league's own rulebook calling for players to stand and line up during the performance.
00:18:10.000 Just like in game one, the teams left the floor less than one minute before the start of the anthem and returned mere seconds after the singer sang the final note.
00:18:18.000 So they literally just left for the anthem.
00:18:21.000 Now, that's against the WNBA rulebook, but here's what it looked like. 0.52
00:18:32.000 You can see, look at them. 0.50
00:18:32.000 They're literally just running off the court for the national anthem. 0.50
00:18:36.000 That's how much they hate America.
00:18:39.000 This is supposed to be modeling behavior for the little girls in the stands. 1.00
00:18:42.000 This is the WNBA Finals. 1.00
00:18:45.000 And then the anthem ends, and they're going to run back on the court at the end of this. 1.00
00:18:50.000 By the way, look at that packed stadium.
00:18:52.000 My goodness. 1.00
00:18:54.000 WNBA is drawing in the dozens at this point when Caitlin Clark isn't on the floor. 1.00
00:18:59.000 That's the WNBA Finals. 1.00
00:19:03.000 Incredible how love, desire to be loved by the left, will legitimately destroy entire industries.
00:19:11.000 Go woke, go broke is a very real thing.
00:19:13.000 Doesn't always work, but if you keep doing it for long enough, then it will.
00:19:18.000 What an amazing video you just watched.
