Summary

As Israel's war against Hamas continues, and make no mistake, President Joe Biden seems to be wavering in his support for deposing Hamas. Is it a change in policy? Or is he simply setting a deeply unrealistic expectation for any military effort in the face of a terrorist group that purposefully embeds itself in civilian areas in order to prey on Western soft-heartedness with regard to civilian casualties? Either way, Biden is harming Israel s war effort with such rhetoric, and the West by proxy, by falling victim to the propagandistic efforts of the legacy media and the left-wing legacy media, which continue to promote four foolish claims: that Hamas isn't as bad as it seems, that Israel is much worse than it seems; that Hamas is actually a reasonable negotiating partner; and that Israel should make concessions to the Palestinian Authority to defeat Hamas; and fourth, that Biden's electoral prospects rely on believing the first three of those claims. In short, it's hard to tell which one Joe Biden is becoming these days, and which one he's becoming. 00:00:00.000 Happy talk is dangerous in politics.
00:00:02.000 It's dangerous because it gets people killed.
00:00:04.000 It leads people to believe foolish things.
00:00:07.000 Out of idiotic hopes and fatuous dreams, leaders tend to believe what they want to believe.
00:00:11.000 That is precisely the opposite of their job, particularly when it comes to national security.
00:00:16.000 Foreign policy ought to be the preserve of cold-eyed men and women capable of making hard but correct decisions.
00:00:22.000 Unfortunately, politics tends to draw people with starry visions, or at least cowards who will mask their own cowardice with those starry visions.
00:00:29.000 It's hard to tell which one President Biden is becoming these days.
00:00:32.000 As Israel's war against Hamas continues, and make no mistake, that war will continue until Hamas is utterly destroyed, Biden seems to be starting to waver.
00:00:40.000 He's made many of the right sounds over the course of the war.
00:00:42.000 His expressed support for deposing Hamas is correctly stated that Israel has a difficult task in doing so while minimizing civilian casualties.
00:00:49.000 Yet now, prodded by a radical left-wing legacy media and young daft staffers, he seems to be wavering.
00:00:55.000 Thus, yesterday, Biden issued the following tweet, quote, Hamas unleashed a terrorist attack because they fear nothing more than Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace.
00:01:03.000 To continue down the path of terror, violence, killing, and war is to give Hamas what they seek.
00:01:08.000 We can't do that.
00:01:10.000 So what precisely did Biden mean by this tweet?
00:01:12.000 Well, the White House came out today and they said this was not a change in policy.
00:01:16.000 Biden still wants Hamas gone, but the tweet seems to create a catch-22.
00:01:20.000 You can't give Hamas what they want, says Joe Biden, which is supposedly more violent.
00:01:25.000 But to destroy Hamas requires violence.
00:01:28.000 So is Biden arguing for leaving Hamas in place in the name of defeating Hamas?
00:01:33.000 Or is he simply setting up a deeply unrealistic expectation for any military in the face of a terrorist group that purposefully embeds itself in civilian areas in order to prey on Western soft-heartedness with regard to civilian casualties?
00:01:45.000 Either way, Biden is harming Israel's war effort with such rhetoric.
00:01:49.000 And the West by proxy.
00:01:50.000 He is falling victim to the propagandistic efforts of the legacy media, which continue to promote four separate foolish claims.
00:01:56.000 First, that Hamas isn't quite as bad as it seems.
00:02:00.000 Second, that Israel is much, much worse than it seems.
00:02:02.000 Third, that Israel ought to make concessions to the Palestinian Authority in order to defeat Hamas.
00:02:07.000 And fourth, that Biden's electoral prospects rely on believing the first three claims.
00:02:12.000 Let's go through these in order.
00:02:13.000 First, the claim that Hamas isn't all that bad.
00:02:16.000 Gotta say, it is astonishing and bewildering and disheartening to watch Holocaust denial form in real time, but we are watching it happen.
00:02:23.000 That is the only similar phenomenon to what I've seen to what's happening right now.
00:02:28.000 Holocaust denial.
00:02:29.000 We are watching an active attempt to rewrite Hamas into some sort of political protest group, just a little more passionate.
00:02:35.000 This has involved outright lies.
00:02:37.000 The lie, for example, that Hamas didn't kill people at the Nova music festival, it was Israeli helicopters.
00:02:41.000 Or obfuscation.
00:02:42.000 Do you have tape of Israeli women being raped?
00:02:45.000 Or merely medical reports of their broken pelvises?
00:02:47.000 More often, it's taken the form of downplaying Hamas' evil altogether.
00:02:50.000 Thus, we get Ayman Malik Yelden of MSNBC claiming that Hamas is actually a reasonable negotiating partner as shown by the fact that there are now hostage deals going on.
00:03:00.000 this diplomatic mechanism, this framework for dialogue that has allowed the last three days
00:03:05.000 to bear fruit, can actually be prolonged. Now, keep in mind, this was something that certainly
00:03:10.000 the Qataris believe could have been established much earlier on in this conflict when this war
00:03:16.000 broke out. They had actually shown to the Americans and the Israelis that Hamas, based on what they
00:03:21.000 were saying publicly and willing to do on the ground with the release of the two Americans and
00:03:26.000 the two Israelis early on, they were prepared to enter into this kind of framework. But here we are
00:03:31.000 almost seven and a half weeks later, and it has taken hold.
00:03:34.000 And I think now the focus is on how do they build on this momentum to prolong it so that
00:03:39.000 the suffering in Gaza comes to an end.
00:03:42.000 Hamas is a reasonable party.
00:03:44.000 How did those hostages end up in the Gaza Strip?
00:03:46.000 We don't know!
00:03:47.000 Who cares?
00:03:47.000 Hamas was always reasonable.
00:03:49.000 They were the ones who were willing to make a deal.
00:03:51.000 Because that's how it works.
00:03:53.000 When you kidnap other people's children, and then you are willing to make a deal to protect yourself, you're still the bad guy.
00:03:58.000 But not according to MSNBC's Mo Yeldon.
00:04:01.000 We get the legacy media claiming that Hamas's hostage release strategy spells the beginning of a broader round of negotiations with Israel's supposed new peace partner.
00:04:08.000 These would be the same people who just murdered 1,200 Israeli citizens six weeks ago and took 240 hostages.
00:04:14.000 Then there is claim number two, that Israel is morally equivalent in some way to Hamas.
00:04:18.000 We'll get to that claim in just one second.
00:04:21.000 First, I want to talk to you about Daily Wire's most trusted privacy partner and the premier sponsor of this show, ExpressVPN.
00:04:26.000 Going online without ExpressVPN, it's like changing while you leave your window wide open.
00:04:30.000 Well, even if you don't have anything to hide, why would you do that?
00:04:33.000 And also, it's a terrible idea, so don't do that, people.
00:04:35.000 When you go online without a VPN, ISPs can also see every single website you visit.
00:04:39.000 They can legally sell that information without your consent to ad companies and tech giants who then use your data to target you.
00:04:45.000 When you use ExpressVPN, ISPs can't see your online activity, your identity is anonymized by a secure VPN server, and your data is also encrypted for maximum protection.
00:04:54.000 I love ExpressVPN because it's really easy to use.
00:04:57.000 I can fire up the app.
00:04:58.000 I can click one button to turn it on.
00:04:59.000 Doesn't require any technical knowledge or know-how at all.
00:05:02.000 Plus, ExpressVPN works on all devices, phones, laptops, even routers, so everyone who shares your Wi-Fi can be protected.
00:05:07.000 Secure your online activity the same way I do.
00:05:09.000 Visit expressvpn.com slash ben.
00:05:11.000 You can get an extra three months of ExpressVPN for free.
00:05:14.000 That's expressvpn.com slash ben.

00:05:22.000 Okay, so claim number one, Is that Hamas isn't that bad?
00:05:25.000 Claim number two that the media are making and their allies in the radical Islamic world and their allies on the left is that Israel is somehow morally equivalent to Hamas.
00:05:34.000 This claim these days usually takes the form of suggesting that Israel is quote-unquote carpet bombing Gaza or indiscriminate in its use of firepower.
00:05:41.000 That's absurd on its face.
00:05:43.000 According to Hamas itself, Israel has dropped about 40,000 bombs on Gaza during this conflict.
00:05:48.000 Also, according to Hamas, Israel has killed about 15,000 people.
00:05:51.000 Normally, bombs kill more than 0.3 people, particularly if you were using targeted weaponry.
00:05:56.000 What's more, Israel is protecting civilian evacuation routes that Hamas is currently attacking.
00:06:01.000 Israel is giving weeks of warning before striking sites.
00:06:03.000 Israel is using Inak bombs to empty buildings.
00:06:06.000 Israel is allowing Hamas terrorists to merge into civilian populations rather than killing too many civilians.
00:06:11.000 Israel is being more careful than any army in modern history, given the urban context of this war.
00:06:18.000 Again, it is dealing with a terrorist group that is predominantly hiding in urban areas.
00:06:22.000 That means civilian casualties will be high by necessity.
00:06:25.000 Again, that isn't uncommon in war.
00:06:28.000 According to one paper in the journal Frontiers of Public Health, here are the civilian death rates by modern war, meaning civilian deaths over total deaths.
00:06:34.000 74% in the Korean War, 46% in the Vietnam War, 88% in the Persian Gulf War, 56% in the
00:06:40.000 Balkan War, 28% in the Afghanistan War, 36% in Pakistan, and 67% in the Iraq War.
00:06:47.000 Yet the media are participating in Hamas' moral equivalent to the Hilt.
00:06:51.000 They are in fact acting as though Hamas ought to be granted immunity and permanence, specifically because they are hiding among civilians.
00:06:58.000 Again, their logic goes that if Hamas were out in the battlefield, Israel could kill them.
00:07:01.000 But if Hamas violates the laws of war, then Israel has to give them immunity.
00:07:05.000 Basically, grab a baby and it's like safe in tag.
00:07:09.000 This, of course, means that every terrorist group in the future is going to grab a baby and hide behind the baby.
00:07:13.000 Yesterday, Jake Tapper of CNN, who's been better than average in this conflict, actually asked former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett one of the media's typically silly questions.
00:07:21.000 Won't killing members of Hamas just create new members of Hamas?
00:07:24.000 Which is like saying, won't killing Nazis in World War II just create new Nazis?
00:07:28.000 As Bennett answers, if that's the case, it is not possible ever to win a war.
00:07:34.000 But don't you think the last six weeks have done a lot to incite and inspire a whole new generation of terrorists?
00:07:40.000 I mean, all the civilian deaths?
00:07:42.000 I mean, don't you worry that that in itself is going to raise and inspire a whole new generation of Palestinians who hate Israelis?
00:07:52.000 It depends what we do next.
00:07:54.000 I want to remind you that in Nazi Germany in the final months of the war there were many, many civilian casualties.
00:08:02.000 Yes, Germany was denazified after the war and we had a new Germany.
00:08:07.000 So obviously, as I said, we don't have a goal of killing civilians.
00:08:12.000 We have a goal of reducing the number of dead civilians.
00:08:15.000 But look, if anyone has a magic plan how to eradicate Hamas without any collateral damage, bring it on and we'll adopt it.
00:08:28.000 That, of course, is exactly right.
00:08:29.000 Again, if the logic is, if you kill bad guys, you want to create new bad guys, that means you have to leave the bad guys in place.
00:08:35.000 But, according to the Wall Street Journal, the U.S.
00:08:37.000 push to have Israel fight a more targeted war signals a shift away from President Biden's full-throated support at the outset for the campaign to oust Hamas, and is the focus of now-intensive consultations between Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on how to handle the conflict.
00:08:51.000 Certainly, if the U.S.
00:08:52.000 has a magic wand it has been hiding, Israel will be all ears.
00:08:55.000 Until then, this is an empty verbiage that lends credibility to Hamas' lies about supposed Israeli evils.
00:09:00.000 Then there's claim number three, that Israel needs to make concessions to the Palestinian Authority in order to somehow curb Hamas.
00:09:06.000 The two-state solution is the answer.
00:09:09.000 This is the claim of Simpleton and Dullard at Thomas Friedman, a gust foreign policy columnist for the exquirable New York Times who has literally never met an Israeli concession he didn't love.
00:09:18.000 Today he writes this, quote, a revamped Palestinian Authority is the keystone for the forces of
00:09:22.000 moderation, coexistence and decency triumphing in all wars.
00:09:26.000 It is the keystone for reviving a two state solution.
00:09:28.000 The Palestinian Authority since Oslo has been committed to reaching a two state solution
00:09:32.000 based on the borders that existed before the 1967 war.
00:09:34.000 To believe this?
00:09:37.000 One must truly be an imbecile.
00:09:39.000 The Palestinian Authority, from the outside of Oslo, saw the Oslo Accords as a Trojan horse.
00:09:44.000 Their leadership said as much.
00:09:45.000 Yasser Arafat said in 1994, quote, This Oslo agreement, I am not considering it more than the
00:09:49.000 agreement which had been signed between our prophet Muhammad and the
00:09:53.000 Quraysh.
00:09:53.000 That agreement, by the way, in the Quran was the prelude to the slaughter of the Quraysh
00:09:57.000 of Mecca a few years after Muhammad signed that false peace agreement.
00:10:00.000 This is why Arafat increased terrorist activity after Oslo.
00:10:03.000 It's why he walked away from the Camp David Accords in 2000 and instead launched the second Intifada.
00:10:07.000 It's why his successor, Holocaust denier Mahmoud Abbas, did the exact same thing with Ehud Olmert, the Prime Minister of Israel, in 2008.
00:10:14.000 The PA has never wanted a two-state solution.
00:10:16.000 The PA is a terror group.
00:10:18.000 It remains a terror group.
00:10:19.000 That is why the PA has claimed that Israel fabricated evidence of October 7th and they have been soft-peddling Hamas's atrocities on October 7th.
00:10:27.000 Concessions to terrorists breed terrorism.
00:10:30.000 It is that simple.
00:10:31.000 But the Biden administration continues to pretend that a two-state solution led by the Palestinian Authority, which again is led by a Holocaust denier named Mahmoud Abbas, is somehow an answer to Islamic extremism.
00:10:42.000 Every day proves that this is totally wrong.
00:10:44.000 Unfortunately, the biggest obstacle to peace in the Middle East right now is the radicalized Palestinian population.
00:10:50.000 And they have been radicalized over the course of generations by indoctrination from the leadership in the Arab world.
00:10:56.000 By polling data, the Palestinian population does not want peace with Israel.
00:11:00.000 They want it destroyed.
00:11:01.000 That is a, again, that is every piece of data that is coming from the population.
00:11:05.000 The population likes Hamas.
00:11:07.000 They like Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
00:11:09.000 I know that we're happy talking this thing and pretending that these terrorist groups are completely separate from the civilian population in the sense that the terrorists are widely despised by the population just to pose the terrorists then magically Paris is going to bloom in the Middle East or something?
00:11:24.000 It's a lie.
00:11:25.000 In fact, according to the most recent polling data from AWRAD, which is a Muslim polling outfit, the Palestinian Authority has the support of approximately 10% of Palestinians.
00:11:34.000 That is the same level of support among Palestinians as the Western media.
00:11:39.000 Here is some video of the Palestinian population that is supposedly so ready for peace.
00:11:42.000 This is footage of Palestinians mocking Israeli hostages being released over the past couple
00:11:46.000 of days, including children and old women.
00:11:53.000 Here you can see crowds of Palestinians jeering at, mocking women being released back into
00:12:00.000 Israel after being held hostage for a month and a half.
00:12:02.000 I'm gonna put you in here and record it.
00:12:07.000 And we keep hearing about how the Gazan civilians totally hate Hamas.
00:12:10.000 I would love to see like any evidence of that whatsoever on a statistical level, like at all.
00:12:16.000 And again, people keep saying, well, you can't really take a poll in the Gaza Strip.
00:12:19.000 Okay, how about a poll of the West Bank where Hamas supposedly is in control?
00:12:22.000 They are wildly popular in the West Bank.
00:12:25.000 So according to the West, clearly the answer is more Israeli concessions.
00:12:28.000 Like say they had turned over the entire Gaza Strip, like entirely to Hamas.
00:12:33.000 Well that obviously worked out amazingly well last time.
00:12:35.000 Then there is the fourth and final claim.
00:12:37.000 That Joe Biden is in electoral danger specifically because of Israel's war to exterminate Hamas.
00:12:41.000 That Biden needs to abandon Israel in order to win the election.
00:12:44.000 That too is ridiculous and it's a lie.
00:12:46.000 The data simply do not exist to suggest that Biden's electoral trouble is specifically because of Israel and the Gaza war.
00:12:53.000 On October 7th, Joe Biden was riding at 44% in the polls against Donald Trump, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.
00:12:59.000 Today, he is riding at 45% in those exact same polls.
00:13:03.000 On October 7th, he was at 40.5% in his approval rating.
00:13:05.000 Today, he is at 40.4%.
00:13:06.000 In other words, Nothing has changed since October 7th.
00:13:12.000 But the media are beating the drums.
00:13:13.000 If Biden doesn't cave to Hamas, he'll lose the youth vote!
00:13:16.000 And he needs citizens like these ones from Oakland, who went wild last night when the City Council considered condemning Hamas.
00:13:22.000 This is actual tape from the Oakland City Council.
00:13:25.000 These are people who live in your country.
00:13:26.000 These are people who you live next to.
00:13:28.000 And whose tax dollars?
00:13:30.000 You're spending your tax dollars, presumably to pay their welfare bills.
00:13:32.000 Here we go.
00:13:34.000 There's not been beheadings of babies and rapings.
00:13:36.000 Israel murdered their own people on October 7th.
00:13:39.000 Calling Hamas a terrorist organization is ridiculous, racist, and plays into genocidal propaganda that is flooding our media and that we should be doing everything possible to combat.
00:13:48.000 I support the right of Palestinians to resist occupation, including through Hamas, the armed wing of the unified Palestinian resistance.
00:13:55.000 As an Arab, asking with this context to condemn Hamas is very anti-Arab racist.
00:14:00.000 The notion that this was a massacre of Jews is a fabricated narrative.
00:14:04.000 Many of those killed on October 7- Thank you ma'am, your time is up.
00:14:07.000 Including children were killed by the IDF.
00:14:10.000 An amendment condemning Hamas is bald propaganda meant to- Thank you, your time is up.
00:14:15.000 To hear them complain about Hamas violence is like listening to a wife beater complain when his wife finally stands up and fights back.
00:14:25.000 These are the people that Joe Biden's required to listen to, according to the legacy media.
00:14:30.000 These are the core parts of Biden's supposed constituency.
00:14:33.000 According to the Wall Street Journal, roughly half of Americans 18 to 24 years old think Hamas's October attack was justified by grievances of the Palestinians, according to a Harvard-Harris poll.
00:14:42.000 Only 9% of people aged 65 and older feel the same.
00:14:45.000 This, according to the media, is the real danger to Joe Biden's re-elect efforts in 2024.
00:14:49.000 And this, again, is ridiculous.
00:14:51.000 Here's the deal.
00:14:52.000 Biden will either be running against Donald Trump, literally the most pro-Israel president in American history by far, or Ron DeSantis or Nikki Haley, the most pro-Israel candidates in American history by far.
00:15:03.000 Are all these Hamas lovers gonna stay home and watch one of those three be elected?
00:15:07.000 What's more, those aged 65 and older vote far more often than those aged 18 to 24.
00:15:12.000 This is true in every election cycle.
00:15:14.000 So an incremental gain among the crazed young voters would likely be outweighed by an incremental loss among older voters who don't particularly like Hamas.
00:15:21.000 Besides which, so many young people are just plain stupid.
00:15:24.000 Like, don't you have to draw the line somewhere?
00:15:26.000 Here for example, today's example of higher level stupidity.
00:15:29.000 This is Columbia University.
00:15:30.000 So there is a truck that is driving around and it has on it pictures of people who signed a statement in support effectively of Hamas.
00:15:40.000 And these are students from Columbia who apparently don't know how duct tape works.
00:15:45.000 I mean, honestly, this is the greatest example of what our universities are.
00:15:49.000 It's a bunch of absolutely over-educated, complete dolts who don't know how to use a roll of duct tape.
00:15:55.000 It's amazing.
00:15:58.000 Look at this, they literally- that's not how- that's not how duct tape works, guys.
00:16:03.000 Look at this, they put like a tiny little bit- tiny little bit of duct tape above the actual paper that they're trying to tape up, and it's not working.
00:16:09.000 Because, like, why are they- why are they putting the tape all the way across the cardboard?
00:16:13.000 Like... Honest to god, my seven year old son knows how to use duct tape better than this.
00:16:19.000 But probably they have their degree in Middle Eastern Studies.
00:16:22.000 They're doing an amazing job with this duct tape.
00:16:24.000 Like, just truly an incredible job.
00:16:26.000 Also, they don't even know how to rip duct tape.
00:16:27.000 They've got like a scissor.
00:16:28.000 Ugh, anyway.
00:16:29.000 But Biden needs the votes of these morons.
00:16:31.000 The media have their story and they are pushing it.
00:16:33.000 Like, here's the deal.
00:16:34.000 Israel's not going to stop in any case because they can't.
00:16:36.000 Here's the IDF spokesperson explaining.
00:16:39.000 And where this is going forward from here is that we are ready and as soon as we will get the green light from the government of the state of Israel to continue operations, we will do so because we understand that there is a direct link between ground operations and pressure on Hamas and their willingness to hand over the hostages.
00:17:00.000 And we are ready and equipped to do so, and I hope that that will commence as soon as possible.
00:17:05.000 Every day that Israeli hostages are returned is great, but we are preparing for the next stage of operations, and we have our sight firmly focused on the aim to dismantle Hamas to make sure that never again will any terrorist organization in Gaza have the ability to do what Hamas did on October the 7th.
00:17:25.000 That's exactly correct.
00:17:27.000 Israel can't stop.
00:17:28.000 They'll either end up doing it alone or they will do it with Western help.
00:17:30.000 So what does it actually matter if the West backs Israel in its battle?
00:17:33.000 Well, it certainly means one thing above all others.
00:17:36.000 A West perceived as weak, cowardly horse, is a West ripe for the taking.
00:17:40.000 That's why the West has a stake here.
00:17:42.000 Because the weaker the West looks, the more radical Islamists are going to look at the West and they are going to salivate.
00:17:48.000 A happy-talking West is a weak West.
00:17:51.000 And that happy-talking West, unfortunately, is not relegated to the Israel-Hamas war.
00:17:56.000 And as we've seen, hundreds of thousands of people marching in the streets in support and solidarity with Hamas.
00:18:02.000 As we have seen, governments tossing out members of their own government for pointing out that maybe pro-Hamas protests are actually kind of bad, that happened in the British government.
00:18:10.000 What we are watching is a West that seems ripe for the taking.
00:18:13.000 Remember this is something everyone's reading the Osama bin Laden letter from 2002, talking about all of his grievances.
00:18:19.000 But they're forgetting that the reason that Osama bin Laden decided that he was going to attack the United States is because he thought that the West was a weak horse.
00:18:26.000 He said it himself.
00:18:28.000 And that part is true.
00:18:30.000 In the Middle East, and truly in foreign policy generally, when people are perceived as ripe for the taking, people move to take.
00:18:37.000 That is how it works.
00:18:38.000 Foreign policy is a game of power perception.
00:18:40.000 It is not about moral suasion.
00:18:42.000 It is not about being right.
00:18:43.000 It is about being strong.
00:18:45.000 And if you are perceived as weak, if you are perceived as vacillating, You are opening yourself up wide for a hard right to the jaw.

00:21:24.000 So, the perception of Western weakness can be manifested in many ways.
00:21:28.000 It can be manifested morally.
00:21:30.000 It can be manifested with regard to, for example, open immigration.
00:21:33.000 The open immigration debate that's been currently ongoing in the West is total insanity, of course.
00:21:38.000 It is one thing to suggest, as the United States did for much of its early life, that an open immigration stance with no welfare state is not a terrible idea.
00:21:49.000 Because you're going to get the hungriest people.
00:21:51.000 They're going to leave their welfare state where they were, and they're going to come to a place with no welfare state, and they're going to be forced by the market to integrate into the market, which means, for example, learning English.
00:21:59.000 It means, for example, adjusting to the business values of the community already in the United States.
00:22:04.000 That was true of the immigration policies of the United States basically between the Civil War and 1920.
00:22:11.000 And then in 1920, we started to restrict immigration.
00:22:13.000 A lot of that was sort of no-nothing-ism.
00:22:15.000 But by the 1930s and the rise of the welfare state, suddenly the math started to change.
00:22:20.000 Because again, if you have a bakery and you put a sign in the window that says free donuts, everyone welcome, a lot of people are going to come for the free donuts.
00:22:27.000 It's gonna drive a very different crowd than open for business.
00:22:31.000 Delicious donuts for sale.
00:22:33.000 It's a different thing.
00:22:33.000 Or help wanted, right?
00:22:35.000 All three of those signs are different messages.
00:22:38.000 Free donuts, everyone welcome, is a very different sign from help wanted, which means come here if you want a job and we'll pay you, or donuts for sale, which means come here and engage in our market.
00:22:48.000 And when the United States and when the West put out the welcome mat for people by saying, come on in, you don't have to assimilate.
00:22:54.000 You don't have to be engaged in the market at all.
00:22:56.000 You can basically come here and create your own enclaves in which you continue to despise Western values while taking welfare dollars.
00:23:03.000 Of course, that's going to change things.
00:23:05.000 And of course, it's going to lead to a massive backlash.
00:23:07.000 Well, that backlash is already materializing over in Ireland, where, as we discussed earlier this week, Conor McGregor is now under investigation by the Irish police for having the gall to suggest that perhaps immigration policy in Ireland is badly managed.
00:23:20.000 The Irish Prime Minister, who's just been a moral bleep show, he yesterday spent his day complaining that people were connecting crime with migration, which isn't it, though?
00:23:32.000 I mean, let's be real about this.
00:23:35.000 When virtually every country, when you have a lot of poverty stricken people coming to your country from foreign cultures, that's going to come with some additional crime.
00:23:44.000 And none of that crime has to be there because again, any country, the definition of a country is a country in control of its borders.
00:23:50.000 That is the definition.
00:23:51.000 And here's the Irish Prime Minister saying that it's insensitive to talk about these things.
00:23:56.000 Just finally in relation to the terrible events that occurred on Parnell Square on Thursday, I really would ask people to try and avoid connecting crime with migration.
00:24:12.000 It's not right.
00:24:14.000 Yes, of course, people who are migrants might commit crimes, just as people who aren't commit crimes.
00:24:21.000 In a country of 5.3 million people, if you have hundreds of thousands of migrants, there are going to be a few of them who commit terrible crimes, just as there are people born and bred in Ireland who commit terrible crimes every day, including murders.
00:24:37.000 Okay, but the difference is that if you're born and bred in Ireland, you're an Irish citizen.
00:24:41.000 Ireland has no obligation to import people who are criminals or who cannot be vetted.
00:24:45.000 The same thing is true of the entire West.
00:24:47.000 And yet the West has decided to blind itself to this fact.
00:24:50.000 And again, when the incentives change, you're going to get a different type of person who becomes an immigrant.
00:24:55.000 That just is what it is.
00:24:56.000 That's not a rip on people.
00:24:58.000 That's just a reality about people.
00:24:59.000 Again, change that sign in the bakery window, it's going to change the kinds of people who enter the bakery.
00:25:03.000 But we're doing the same thing here in the United States.
00:25:04.000 Alejandro Mayorkas, who should be impeached for failure to do his job.
00:25:07.000 I mean, he's just awful.
00:25:08.000 The Homeland Security Secretary, he's been garbage this whole way.
00:25:11.000 We've had a consistent, ongoing migration crisis at our southern border for years on end with extraordinarily generous asylum and refugee policies that basically allow anyone to come to the border, claim that they are a refugee, be ushered into the interior of the United States, and then be set free.
00:25:28.000 Here's Alejandro Mayorkas pretending that everybody who's coming illegally is an asset to the United States.
00:25:32.000 That's not true.
00:25:33.000 Some people who come to the United States may be assets to the United States.
00:25:36.000 Frankly, we don't know.
00:25:37.000 But the idea that everyone who crosses the southern border is magically an asset to the United States is clearly false.
00:25:44.000 It also doesn't address the other sort of elephant in the room, which is dealing with undocumented immigrants who are already here in the nation.
00:25:51.000 And I know it's been a political football as they're trying to figure out the best way to address that.
00:25:55.000 But I'm going to ask you, what is the best way to address that from your perspective?
00:26:00.000 The answer is quite clear and quite straightforward and we've been waiting for it for about 30 years and that is to fix a system that everyone agrees is fundamentally broken and we need congressional action both for the lawful pathways That really need to be more robust in statute and for the 12 million people who are here in the United States who have been contributing so fundamentally to our country's well-being.
00:26:29.000 They're our neighbors, our friends, our fellow congregants.
00:26:33.000 They provide our frontline workers.
00:26:37.000 We need to do something and I am hopeful.
00:26:42.000 I mean, some are assets and some really, really are not.
00:26:45.000 And your generalized open border policy, which is something been promoted by the Biden administration clearly, which is why we have a migration crisis.
00:26:51.000 Is a sign of weakness to the rest of the world, obviously.
00:26:54.000 It's why you have people marching to the border chanting Joe Biden's name right now.
00:26:58.000 Some Senate Democrats are beginning to see the light because they realize this is actually really bad policy.
00:27:01.000 They're going to see this happen in Europe as well, as right-wing parties start to make serious headway on the immigration issue.
00:27:07.000 According to Politico, a growing number of Senate Democrats appear open to making it harder for migrants to seek asylum in order to secure Republican support for aiding Ukraine and Israel.
00:27:14.000 They're motivated not just by concern for America's embattled allies.
00:27:17.000 They also believe changes are needed to help a migration crisis that is growing more dire and to potentially dull the sting of political border politics in battleground states before the 2024 elections.
00:27:27.000 John Tester, Democrat of Montana, who's a very vulnerable senator, he says, look, I think the border needs some attention.
00:27:32.000 I'm one that thinks it doesn't hurt.
00:27:34.000 Tester says he's eager to see if a bipartisan group of negotiators can come up with an agreement on a policy issue as elusive as immigration.
00:27:41.000 Senator Tammy Baldwin, another vulnerable Democrat, says I'm certainly okay with border policy being part of a national security supplemental.
00:27:47.000 On changes to asylum policy, she said, quote, I'd like to see us make some bipartisan progress, which has eluded us for years.
00:27:52.000 The system is broken.
00:27:54.000 That is exactly right.
00:27:55.000 And neither the left is gonna figure it out or the left is gonna suffer the political consequences.
00:27:59.000 And meanwhile, when we speak of weakness, the great institutions of the West deciding to abandon their most fundamental values and attack those within the institutions who still defend the fundamental values, that is another level of threat.
00:28:11.000 And we are seeing that materialize over the course of Pope Francis's reign in the Vatican.
00:28:16.000 Pope Francis is not Benedict.
00:28:19.000 He's not John Paul II.
00:28:20.000 Pope Francis is a liberation theologist.
00:28:24.000 There's no other way to read his activity inside the Vatican.
00:28:28.000 I know that for a lot of Catholics, that's a hard thing to recognize and think about.
00:28:34.000 But the reality is that he is predominantly an economic Marxist with serious liberal leanings on the social issue side.
00:28:44.000 Which is why he's put all of his focus on redistributionist politics, environmentalism, and ripping on supposed right-wing Catholics who are simply abiding by traditional doctrine with regard to social politics like LGBT issues.
00:28:57.000 The one, really the only social issue where he's been fully consistent with the church over the course of time has been abortion.
00:29:02.000 All the other issues he has shown wavering on.
00:29:04.000 Well now, he is militarizing his stance by going after cardinals who disagree with him.
00:29:10.000 According to the New York Times, almost as soon as Pope Francis became the head of the Roman Catholic Church in 2013, Raymond Burke, an American cardinal, emerged as his leading critic from within the church, becoming a de facto anti-pope.
00:29:20.000 For frustrated traditionalists who believed Francis was diluting doctrine, Francis frequently demoted and stripped the American cleric of influence.
00:29:26.000 This month, the Pope apparently finally had enough, according to one high-ranking Vatican official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
00:29:32.000 Francis told the meeting of high-ranking Vatican officials he intended to throw the cardinal out of his Vatican-subsidized apartment and deprive him of his salary as a retired cardinal.
00:29:40.000 The news of the possible eviction was first reported by the conservative Italian newspaper, La Nuova Bussola Quotidiana.
00:29:46.000 I'm going to screw this up.
00:29:47.000 It's close to Cardinal Burke and recently sponsored a conference featuring the prelate criticizing a major meeting of bishops convened by Francis.
00:29:56.000 That newspaper's report comes only a week after Francis removed another vocal conservative critic, Joseph Strickland, the Bishop of Tyler, Texas, after a Vatican investigation into the governance of his diocese.
00:30:06.000 Apparently, asked about the report, the Vatican spokesman, Matteo Bruni, declined to confirm or deny it, telling reporters, quote, I don't have anything particular to say about that.
00:30:14.000 Well, Ross Duthat, who is a Catholic himself, he has a piece today in the New York Times titled, Pope Francis Tries to Settle Accounts, which is obviously a reference to the godfather there settling all family business today.
00:30:25.000 For years, Pope Francis' governance of the Roman Catholic Church has been seemingly destined to drive the church's conservative and liberal wings ever further apart.
00:30:32.000 Thus the persistent question hanging over his pontificate.
00:30:35.000 How will he hold this thing together?
00:30:36.000 By opening debate on a wide array of hot-button subjects without delivering explicit changes, he has encouraged the church's progressives to push the envelope as far as possible, even toward real doctrinal rebellion, in the hopes of dragging him along.
00:30:48.000 At the same time, by favoring the progressives in his personal decisions and making institutional war on the legacy of John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, he has pushed conservatives toward crisis, paranoia, and revolt.
00:30:58.000 On both fronts, it's unclear whether the papacy's weakening authority can pull either group of rebels back.
00:31:03.000 But in the last few weeks, we've seen a clear attempt to use that authority, a real test of the Pope's ability to keep the Church together.
00:31:09.000 He has moved against two of his sharpest critics on the right, that'd be Strickland and Burke, He has also tried to draw a bright line against the experiments of German bishops, the leading progressive faction, issuing a letter declaring any reforms the Germans contemplate cannot change the Church's teaching on the all-male priesthood and the immorality of homosexual relations.
00:31:26.000 But the reality is that, again, the Pope keeps handing signals to the progressives that he basically agrees with them, he just doesn't want to move too fast.
00:31:36.000 The reality is that liberal Catholicism is failing.
00:31:40.000 It is failing.
00:31:41.000 Russ Douthat says, Catholicism does not have a large number of conservatives or progressive priests coming along in Germany.
00:31:47.000 In fact, they have almost no younger priests at all.
00:31:50.000 There are only 48 new seminarians in Germany in 2022 for a church that still serves 21 million self-identified Catholics.
00:31:57.000 The existential crisis helps explain the intensity of pressure for liberalization and Protestantization, because to many German Catholic leaders, this feels like the only way for their church to survive.
00:32:05.000 But the reality is that the only growing segment of any churches, synagogues too, in the United States, are the ones that actually abide by traditional diktats.
00:32:16.000 Traditionalist churches, traditionalist synagogues, those are the ones that are growing.
00:32:21.000 Progressive churches, progressive synagogues are dying out because it turns out if you just want to go to a Democratic Party rally, you can go to a Democratic Party rally and it doesn't take all that kneeling and saying stuff in Latin and eating foods.
00:32:32.000 You just go get some pizza at a Democratic Party rally and dye your hair blue and you've basically achieved the same goal.
00:32:38.000 If you want to join a cult, the cult of left-wingism is much more fun than the cult of progressive Christianity.
00:32:44.000 Which still bears that weird tinge of bizarre guilt and obligation.
00:32:49.000 The fact that Pope Francis has been actively going after his conservative opponents, and if you want to sink the future of the Catholic Church, this would be the way to do it.
00:32:58.000 This would be the way to do it.
00:33:00.000 And again, that happens to be true of virtually everyone else in religious life these days.
00:33:06.000 The single worst thing that has happened to the West over the course of the last 70, 80 years, really since the end of World War II, has been the decline of religion in the West.
00:33:12.000 The decline of religion in the West has led to a wide rise in radical theologies masquerading as politics.
00:33:19.000 It's been really, really bad.
00:33:21.000 The answer to that is not a church that abandons its central principles in favor of trying to cater to people who hate those principles and hate the church.
00:33:29.000 The answer to that is a more muscular response on behalf of eternal truths, if you believe those eternal truths.
00:33:35.000 And if you don't, not sure what you're doing in a church.
00:33:37.000 In just one second, you'll get to the latest media self-be-clowning because it really is an amazing story.
00:33:42.000 First, first, when you walk through your home, you're looking around, you just repainted the house, you just redid the floors, all that kind of stuff, but there's still something kind of dingy.
00:33:50.000 You know what it is?
00:33:51.000 It's the window coverings.
00:33:52.000 Now that I've mentioned it, you're looking at it and you're saying to yourself, ah, Shapiro is right.

00:34:48.000 Remember that time, you know, wasn't that long ago, when you were allowed to laugh at things that were stupid and ridiculous, instead of having to say that, in fact, they're not stupid and ridiculous, they're actually great, and that if you disagree, you're a bad person?
00:35:00.000 You know, back when Hollywood could make comedies like Dodgeball or Wedding Crashers or Tropic Thunder without having to worry that they would have protesters outside with the blue hair screaming at them?
00:35:08.000 Well, we here at The Daily Wire, we are tired of not laughing.
00:35:10.000 So this Friday, we are dropping the most triggering movie of the decade.
00:35:14.000 Here's a look at the official trailer for Lady Ballers.
00:35:17.000 In a world where women's sports is being transformed, The Daily Wire calls foul with the most triggering comedy
00:35:29.000 of the year.
00:35:31.000 Guys, this is serious.
00:35:41.000 Sports can be your pathway to a better life.
00:35:44.000 What, like yours?
00:35:46.000 Please don't steal my catalytic converter again.
00:35:48.000 Winning matters.
00:35:49.000 It's the key ingredient in becoming a winner.
00:35:51.000 Maybe you should try it sometime.
00:35:54.000 Are you gonna move?
00:35:55.000 I am not.
00:35:56.000 Let's cut to the chase.
00:35:59.000 I know you're not a woman.
00:36:01.000 You don't know how he identifies.
00:36:03.000 What do you know about the US Opens for the Global Games?
00:36:07.000 You want us to compete as winners.
00:36:09.000 $5,000 prizes.
00:36:10.000 My lover says you were a great coach back in the day.
00:36:12.000 Join.
00:36:13.000 This is the way the world is now.
00:36:14.000 My eight-year-old daughter told me all about it.
00:36:16.000 So a guy can become a girl with no physical changes at all.
00:36:20.000 Oh, that's called gender fluid.
00:36:22.000 So I can be a woman on the court and a man in the bedroom.
00:36:26.000 I can't believe it.
00:36:27.000 Nice!
00:36:28.000 You mean when you're sleeping?
00:36:30.000 Yes.
00:36:31.000 Coach.
00:36:32.000 Alice.
00:36:33.000 We could play basketball.
00:36:34.000 We'd have to get the whole team back together.
00:36:36.000 It's time.
00:36:36.000 We're in.
00:36:38.000 I'm in.
00:36:39.000 I'm in!
00:36:39.000 To play.
00:36:40.000 Lady Ballers.
00:36:42.000 Line up.
00:36:45.000 You ain't good girl.
00:36:46.000 That's why I'm with her.
00:36:48.000 This is my troop!
00:36:50.000 Believe in monsters! This is monsters!
00:36:53.000 Day one of being a girl athlete.
00:36:59.000 Ha ha ha!
00:37:00.000 I love being a girl!
00:37:02.000 We could dominate every woman's sport.
00:37:06.000 Running.
00:37:07.000 Swimming.
00:37:07.000 Soccer.
00:37:08.000 I said sport, Felix!
00:37:09.000 It's ladies basketball, boys.
00:37:15.000 Nobody watches.
00:37:17.000 Excuse me.
00:37:19.000 Are these seats open?
00:37:21.000 Never mind.
00:37:22.000 Getting dunks.
00:37:24.000 Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
00:37:28.000 Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
00:37:30.000 And tucking trunks.
00:37:31.000 You know she did it.
00:37:41.000 That's the biggest d*** I've ever seen on a lady.
00:37:43.000 I don't care.

00:38:29.000 Eastern.
00:38:30.000 Speaking of the media, but clowning themselves.
00:38:32.000 So I have to say, as we've talked about before, the media supply of racism The supply of racism does not meet demands.
00:38:41.000 The media are desperately, desperately in need of a supply of racism because they write about it like full-time.
00:38:48.000 And so they've decided that they're just going to make up stories now about racism.
00:38:53.000 The latest is a story about a young Kansas City Chiefs fan who wore face paint The face paint is half black and half red.
00:39:03.000 The kid is wearing Kansas City Chiefs colors, like his face is painted half black and half red, and he's wearing a headdress, you know, like the Kansas City Chiefs mascot.
00:39:12.000 And Deadspin reporter Karen Phillips, who apparently spends all day just looking desperately for some sort of racism to report on, accused this kid named Holden Armenta of mocking black people after seeing a picture in profile which didn't show that half of his face painted red.
00:39:31.000 There is only one problem.
00:39:38.000 This is one of the great cell phones of all time.
00:39:43.000 It's fan-freaking-tastic.
00:39:45.000 So it turns out that the kid actually has Native American heritage.
00:39:50.000 His grandfather serves on the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.
00:39:55.000 The team's multi-ethnic squad had enthusiastically joined in with Holden's Indian-chopping gesture.
00:40:00.000 The kid is technically Native American, but is also apparently racist.
00:40:06.000 He says it takes a lot of disrespect to disrespect two groups of people at once.
00:40:10.000 So first, again, the kid's putting on Kansas City Chiefs colors, black and red.
00:40:14.000 He's not mocking black people and he's not mocking red people.
00:40:17.000 Those are the colors of the team.
00:40:19.000 In the same way that if you were, for example, an L.A.
00:40:20.000 Lakers fan, yellow and gold.
00:40:23.000 I mean, gold and purple, right?
00:40:24.000 That would be the colors.
00:40:26.000 But that's like, so he said that he's racist against black people and also racist against Native American people, and the kid is Native American.
00:40:35.000 And then he added, quote, this is what happens when you ban books, stand against critical race theory, and try to erase centuries of hate.
00:40:42.000 You give future generations the ammo they need to evolve and recreate racism better than before.
00:40:48.000 That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
00:40:50.000 First of all, that's a great case for banning critical race theory because critical race theory makes you a moron.
00:40:53.000 It makes you a dummy.
00:40:54.000 It makes you the kind of person who believes that a kid painting his face in the team colors is racist for doing so.
00:41:02.000 Elon Musk then congratulated his team for spotting the error in this because there was a community notes that got attached pointing out how stupid this is.
00:41:12.000 The Pulitzer-nominated reporter was unabashed.
00:41:14.000 This guy was nominated for a Pulitzer?
00:41:16.000 Um, what?
00:41:16.000 That just shows what the poet's are as these days.
00:41:17.000 For the idiots in my mention, who are treating this as some harmless act
00:41:20.000 because the other side of his face was painted red.
00:41:22.000 I could make the argument, it is even worse.
00:41:24.000 Y'all are the ones who hate Mexicans, but wear sombreros on Cinco.
00:41:27.000 What?
00:41:30.000 Seems like a complete non sequitur.
00:41:31.000 So again, just amazing work there.
00:41:35.000 Super amazing work there from Deadspin for making this kid rich, because this kid is going to file a lawsuit like you wouldn't believe, and it's going to be great, and I am here for it.
00:41:44.000 Joining in the clown show was, of course, clown Dan Lebitard, who is a supposed sports commentator who spends his day doing progressive politics most of the time.
00:41:54.000 Or at least more than he should.
00:41:56.000 And he defended the Deadspin piece.
00:41:59.000 He said, no matter what, you should never put black and red combination on your face.
00:42:03.000 Ever.
00:42:03.000 It's racist.
00:42:04.000 Don't do it.
00:42:05.000 Ever.
00:42:06.000 Here is a picture of Dan Lebithard last year, dressed up as a member of a rock band.
00:42:13.000 He is wearing black and red on his face.
00:42:15.000 Oh no.
00:42:16.000 It must be a racist.
00:42:17.000 Must be a racist.
00:42:18.000 Again, the supply of racism in the United States is just not keeping up with demand, and so the price is rising.
00:42:23.000 That's what's happening here.
00:42:25.000 Okay, meanwhile, the 2024 race continues apace.
00:42:29.000 Donald Trump way out in front, obviously, of the rest of the field.
00:42:32.000 But the Koch network has now announced that they are going to back Nikki Haley.
00:42:37.000 According to the Wall Street Journal, Americans for Prosperity Action, a conservative group led and partly financed by Charles Koch, said Tuesday it would support the former South Carolina governor and U.N.
00:42:45.000 ambassador.
00:42:46.000 The organization's support is a boost to Haley as the campaign enters the final seven weeks before Iowa.
00:42:50.000 AFP said she has what it takes to lead a policy agenda to take on our nation's biggest challenges and help ensure our country's best days are ahead.
00:42:56.000 With the grassroots and data capability we bring to bear in this race, no other organization is better equipped to help her do it.
00:43:03.000 So the question is whether she has grassroots momentum, whether she has infrastructure in order to take advantage.
00:43:08.000 The biggest question in this race is what is the dynamic that allows any candidate who is not Donald Trump to defeat Donald Trump if you want Trump defeated in the primaries?
00:43:15.000 The problem with Haley is that if DeSantis drops out, his support does not go to Haley.
00:43:20.000 If DeSantis drops out, his support will largely go, by polling data, to Trump.
00:43:24.000 And then the race is over.
00:43:26.000 That's the math.
00:43:29.000 Again, I really like Ambassador Haley.
00:43:30.000 I like Nikki a lot.
00:43:31.000 She's a wonderful person.
00:43:33.000 She's done a lot of good things, particularly as an ambassador.
00:43:35.000 She's done a good job in this race.
00:43:37.000 If Nikki knocks DeSantis out, DeSantis is going to, his votes will go to Trump.
00:43:42.000 That's where they're going.
00:43:44.000 By contrast, if Haley were to drop out, her votes would largely go to DeSantis.
00:43:48.000 Now, does that mean any of them have a chance of stopping Trump?
00:43:50.000 I mean, right now, again, he's a formidable favorite.
00:43:53.000 If DeSantis doesn't win Iowa, he's out of the race.
00:43:55.000 I mean, it's really that simple.
00:43:57.000 If DeSantis does win Iowa, and Haley wins New Hampshire, they go to South Carolina.
00:44:01.000 Haley may win South Carolina.
00:44:02.000 And at that point, Trump probably runs the table, if you look at the rest of the race, unless there is this sort of God-bleeds mentality in which Trump has been wounded, and now people don't vote for him.
00:44:12.000 But again, I don't see the dynamics of the race radically shifting in favor of Nikki Haley if Ron DeSantis drops out of the race.
00:44:20.000 That is inherently the problem.
00:44:22.000 In just a second, we'll get to Ron DeSantis trying to recapture some magic leading up to Iowa by debating Gavin Newsom.
00:44:27.000 That's the thing that's going to be happening tomorrow night first.

00:46:16.000 Our country needs more Americans who understand the Constitution and can defend our freedom.

00:46:32.000 That's hillsdale.edu slash ben.
00:46:35.000 And meanwhile, Ron DeSantis trying to recapture some magic going into the Iowa caucuses.
00:46:38.000 Again, looking at the polls right now, Donald Trump does have a very wide lead still in Iowa.
00:46:43.000 The latest poll from Iowa State Civics Has Trump up 54 to DeSantis' 18 to Nikki Haley's 12.
00:46:50.000 Vivek is coming in at 6% in that particular poll.
00:46:54.000 Again, on average, Trump's at 47 and DeSantis is at 17.
00:46:58.000 Now, it's a caucus state, so you can see big moves in places like Iowa.
00:47:02.000 In New Hampshire, Trump, again, still has a big lead.
00:47:05.000 In second place this time is Haley.
00:47:06.000 She sort of flip-flops with DeSantis.
00:47:08.000 Actually, Christie is still polling in the low double digits, 11% in the latest Washington Post Monmouth poll.
00:47:14.000 Out of New Hampshire, but Trump's at 46, Haley at 18, Christie at 11, and DeSantis at 7.
00:47:18.000 Even Vivek is actually pulling ahead of DeSantis.
00:47:21.000 So DeSantis is looking to recapture some magic.
00:47:22.000 One of the ways he wants to do that is he's having a debate with Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, who's running a shadow campaign in case Joe Biden should keel over, which is not an insignificant possibility before the election.
00:47:34.000 Newsom's entire shtick is to pretend that every other state is worse than his own.
00:47:38.000 There's only one problem with that.
00:47:39.000 As a former resident of California, like a lifelong resident of California, it is not true.
00:47:44.000 The reality is that, again, Gavin Newsom has governed the state like garbage.
00:47:48.000 California is in serious trouble.
00:47:50.000 If you look at the rundown of Florida versus California, the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal has a good rundown today.
00:47:56.000 Employment.
00:47:57.000 Since January 2019, employment has increased by 1,031,000 in Florida, while declining by 85,000 in California.
00:48:06.000 Unemployment.
00:48:06.000 Despite a shrinking labor force, California's 4.8% jobless rate is the second highest in the country, nearly twice as high as Florida's 2.8%.
00:48:14.000 Business formation.
00:48:15.000 Florida has received 2.7 million new business applications since January 2019, one for every eight residents, compared to one for every 18 residents of California.
00:48:25.000 Personal income.
00:48:26.000 Business and worker earnings have increased by an annual compound at 7.7% in Florida since the first quarter of 2019 compared to 5% in California.
00:48:34.000 Population migration.
00:48:36.000 Between July 2019 and July 2022, over a million Californians left for other states.
00:48:40.000 That'd include most of my family.
00:48:42.000 Well, 737,000 people on net moved to Florida.
00:48:46.000 That means, according to the latest IRS data, California lost $55.7 billion in adjusted gross income between 2019 and 2021.
00:48:54.000 Energy prices are twice as high in California as in Florida.
00:48:58.000 State and local taxes in California add up to $10,167 per capita versus $5,406 in Florida.
00:49:00.000 $1,167 per capita versus $5,406 in Florida.
00:49:05.000 Pensions were $51.2 billion in California last year versus $7.3 billion in Florida.
00:49:13.000 Medicaid, California spends $129.2 billion annually on Medicare, more than four times as much as Florida.
00:49:19.000 I Homelessness, California has 171,000 homeless people versus 26,000 in Florida.
00:49:27.000 Again, bottom line here is that California is a bleep show and Florida is doing pretty well.
00:49:32.000 Now that's a pretty good basis for a presidential campaign, you would think.
00:49:35.000 But again, politics is so performative these days.
00:49:38.000 I think DeSantis will do well in the debate against Newsom.
00:49:42.000 But until somebody shows a real challenge to either Biden or to Trump, they are the foregone nominees at this point.
00:49:49.000 I mean, they are obviously the front runners very, very clearly.
00:49:53.000 Meanwhile, Republicans running into a bit of an interesting pickle, they've subpoenaed Hunter Biden to talk about his dad and his business deals.
00:50:01.000 Well, now his lawyers are saying that he is going to come testify, but only publicly.
00:50:07.000 According to Politico, As Hunter Biden faced a protracted criminal probe for years, he was told to cooperate with prosecutors and wait quietly for exoneration.
00:50:15.000 That strategy failed.
00:50:17.000 Well, now he's taking his adversaries on directly.
00:50:20.000 Over the past three months, Hunter Biden has filed a barrage of lawsuits and has challenged his indictment on gun charges by attacking the prosecution, as stated.
00:50:27.000 He's even trying to subpoena Trump.
00:50:29.000 The counteroffensive will play out in courtrooms and in public justice as his father ramps up his re-elect campaign.
00:50:34.000 Some of Joe Biden's aides are worried that this is going to elevate Biden in the public eye.
00:50:38.000 Hunter Biden, that is.
00:50:39.000 And that the more you see of Hunter Biden, the less you're going to like Joe.
00:50:42.000 That, of course, is certainly quite possible.
00:50:44.000 However, it is also true that Hunter Biden is trying right now to respond publicly to Republican attempts to subpoena him by saying that they want him to testify not behind closed doors.
00:50:59.000 In a letter Tuesday to the House Oversight Chair James Comer, Hunter Biden's lawyer suggested
00:51:04.000 that instead of Hunter testifying behind closed doors, he wants a public hearing on December 13th,
00:51:09.000 arguing, quote, prevent selective leaks, manipulated transcripts, doctored exhibits,
00:51:12.000 or one-sided press statements. Of course, that will be largely performative, but
00:51:16.000 am I in favor of open hearings as opposed to closed hearings?
00:51:21.000 Depends how substantive the hearings are gonna be.
00:51:24.000 How about both?
00:51:25.000 How about I get an open hearing with Hunter, and you get a closed hearing?
00:51:28.000 In the open hearing, he can jabber about how he's being mistreated, unfairly, and how he's just a child.
00:51:33.000 Leave the children alone.
00:51:34.000 And in the closed-door hearing, maybe he can get some substantive answers out of him.
00:51:38.000 But, you know, not a dumb political strategy.
00:51:40.000 The bottom line, though, is that, again, Joe Biden is facing an uphill battle for re-election.
00:51:45.000 Let's be real about this.
00:51:46.000 The polls are not in Joe Biden's favor right now.
00:51:49.000 And again, the best argument that any of the other candidates originally had against Trump, which is that Trump can't beat Biden, that's not what the polls are suggesting right now.
00:51:55.000 So that's a very hard argument to make just on the data points.
00:51:58.000 And that's coming from somebody who's likely not to vote for Trump in the primaries if DeSantis or Haley is on the ballot.
