00:00:00.000 Also, I haven't been to the gym in so long, I didn't know women just dress like whores now.
00:00:06.000 Look, I'm sorry, there's no other way to describe it.
00:00:09.000 I've seen it.
00:00:09.000 Have you seen it?
00:00:10.000 The shorts.
00:00:11.000 Have you seen the shorts?
00:00:13.000 Those neon, they're like artificial bait colored.
00:00:19.000 The wrinkles go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole.
00:00:26.000 And don't look, you're not allowed to look.
00:00:29.000 For real, don't look, because they are filming.
00:00:31.000 I'm in the background of like 10 TikToks right now.
00:00:40.000 So, a lot of people are really, really mad at Shane Gillis' joke right here.
00:00:44.000 Like, really, really, really mad.
00:00:46.000 Question Are we supposed to pretend that women are dressing functionally at the gym like they used to, like 20 years ago?
00:00:53.000 Or are we supposed to pretend that men don't have eyeballs?
00:00:55.000 Which one is it?
00:01:00.000 All right.
00:01:01.000 So, as we say, Shane Gillis was back on SNL.
00:01:04.000 Remember, he'd been banned from SNL because he said edgy things.
00:01:07.000 And then he told a joke, that joke right there.
00:01:10.000 And people are really mad about it.
00:01:12.000 So, among the people who are very, very mad, Dan Levy.
00:01:15.000 So, Dan Levy is the son of Eugene Levy, and he is from Schitt's Creek.
00:01:20.000 And he says this is misogynistic.
00:01:22.000 It's just terrible.
00:01:24.000 Dan Levy, tell me you're gay without telling me you're gay.
00:01:30.000 Women wearing shorts to the gym does not make them whores, it makes the men calling them whores misogynists.
00:01:41.000 There's a difference there.
00:01:45.000 By the way, I've seen more men's nipples at the gym than I've ever seen women showing their bodies off.
00:01:53.000 But I'm speechless that something like that can exist on live national television.
00:02:04.000 How can it even exist?
00:02:05.000 Okay, I'm just going to put it out there.
00:02:06.000 If you are a dude and you've seen more men's nipples at the gym, it's because you're looking for men's nipples.
00:02:12.000 Don't know how else to put that.
00:02:14.000 I mean, come on.
00:02:15.000 Come on for just a hot second.
00:02:17.000 But he continues.
00:02:21.000 And to be perfectly honest, more men need to be standing up in opposition to it because it's complacency that has created the environment with which women are sexually assaulted, and it's a conversation as opposed to a crime.
00:02:39.000 Men need to be defending women more.
00:02:42.000 This is not a women's issue, this is an everybody issue.
00:02:47.000 Because the more that men objectify women in the media, The more that other men see them as objects and treat them as objects.
00:02:56.000 They are not objects.
00:02:56.000 Thank you for your feminist theory class.
00:02:58.000 Thank you.
00:02:59.000 Human beings to men.
00:03:01.000 Which is why he likes men.
00:03:05.000 Okay.
00:03:05.000 Anyway, the celebs who commented on this post include Kristen Chenoweth, Viola Davis, Hannah Einbinder, of course, Elizabeth Banks.
00:03:12.000 That post currently has 1.6 million likes.
00:03:16.000 Now, I'm not sure who is being tolerant of rape.
00:03:18.000 In fact, Shane Gillis' opening joke in this SNL monologue.
00:03:23.000 Is that he was hiking by himself and there was an attractive woman coming the other way, and he had to make a face to demonstrate he was not out on the hiking trail to rape her.
00:03:30.000 Right.
00:03:30.000 So it was an actively anti rape set, shall we say?
00:03:33.000 Hey, but the Hollywood reporter is very upset about it as well.
00:03:37.000 Tony Maglio writing, maybe it's a good thing Shane Gillis was fired by Saturday Night Live before he even got started.
00:03:42.000 On Saturday, Gillis rubbed a whole lot of people the wrong way with several jokes in his SNL monologue, kind of like he did the first two times he hosted.
00:03:49.000 The main culprit this past weekend was an observational quip Gillis made about how women dress in the gym.
00:03:54.000 SNL attracts liberal talent and a similar audience.
00:03:56.000 It films in New York City.
00:03:57.000 Its main target is Donald Trump.
00:03:59.000 The show's writers and cast members are a generally diverse group of Gen Zers that came up in improv, sketch, and stand up comedy.
00:04:05.000 By the way, by diverse, he just means racially or sexually diverse, does not mean ideologically diverse, obviously.
00:04:10.000 They don't listen to Joe Rogan, Gillis's buddy, who, along with Theo Vaughn and Dan Soder, kind of got a shout out in the set.
00:04:16.000 They don't drink the Bud Light Gillis endorses.
00:04:18.000 Studio 88H is not the place for gay jokes and jokes against women, at the very least, if you tried them.
00:04:24.000 It better be really strong.
00:04:25.000 It was the wrong place for the joke.
00:04:27.000 It was decidedly the wrong time.
00:04:28.000 Oh, we're back to this.
00:04:29.000 It's the wrong place for the joke.
00:04:31.000 It's the wrong.
00:04:32.000 This is a terrible, terrible joke.
00:04:33.000 How dare he?
00:04:34.000 So, number one, it's a joke.
00:04:37.000 I'll just put it out again a joke.
00:04:39.000 You don't have to like the joke.
00:04:40.000 You don't have to think that the joke bespeaks some sort of underlying truth, but it's just a joke.
00:04:45.000 But I think we need to talk about why people are actually upset about this.
00:04:48.000 By the way, Bridget Fettesy went one better than Shane Gillis here.
00:04:51.000 She tweeted out, for the record, women dress like whores everywhere now, not just the gym.
00:04:55.000 So that's Bridget.
00:04:57.000 Okay, in just one second, I'm going to ask my female producers to actually evaluate whether women are dressing appropriately at the gym or not.
00:05:05.000 So we're going to see some people working out at the gym, you know, like being in shape.
00:05:08.000 But if you want to be in shape, there's a better way to do it.
00:05:10.000 Okay, so here's the deal.
00:05:12.000 Right now, go to your fridge.
00:05:12.000 There's probably a bunch of wilting veggies and kind of rotten fruit in there because you went to the grocery store one time, you bought all this stuff, you're like, I'm going to eat healthy.
00:05:19.000 And now you look in your fridge and it's a bunch of like moldy broccoli or something.
00:05:23.000 Well, don't do that.
00:05:24.000 Get into a routine.
00:05:25.000 Three fruits capsules, three veggie capsules, two scoops of fiber and spice done.
00:05:29.000 You don't need another hobby.
00:05:30.000 You need something simple enough to keep doing.

00:06:10.000 But let's talk about why people are so pissed off about this joke, what the blowback actually is.
00:06:13.000 So let's separate this into two questions.
00:06:15.000 One.
00:06:16.000 Are women dressing in more provocative fashion at the gym than they used to?
00:06:20.000 In the colloquial parlance of Shane Gillis, are they dressing like whores?
00:06:24.000 Right?
00:06:24.000 So we'll get to that in a second.
00:06:26.000 And second, are men evil, the second part of his joke, for their eyeballs glancing at scantily clad women at the gym?
00:06:33.000 Because that's the opposition, right?
00:06:34.000 That either women aren't dressing more provocatively than they used to, or that there are no predictable effects in life to women dressing more provocatively.
00:06:41.000 Like one of those two things has to be true to be upset with Shane Gillis' joke.
00:06:45.000 Right?
00:06:45.000 One is that actually they're dressing perfectly normally at the gym.
00:06:49.000 Again, we should say many women.
00:06:50.000 There are many women who've just continued to dress like normal human beings at the gym.
00:06:54.000 I would say that, you know, the majority of women that I see at the gym are dressing like normal human beings.
00:06:59.000 When my wife goes to the gym, she dresses like a normal human.
00:07:02.000 There are women at the gym who are not dressing as though they are there for functional reasons.
00:07:07.000 And then there's the second question, which is the one that feminists are jumping on, which is even if women are dressing, shall we say, in scantily clad fashion, are men evil because their eyeballs move in that direction briefly?
00:07:07.000 Okay.
00:07:22.000 Right?
00:07:23.000 These are the two questions.
00:07:24.000 Because you have to believe, one, that women are either not dressing more provocatively, or two, that even if women are dressing more provocatively, the real problem is that men have eyeballs, and those eyeballs sometimes glance at the women who are dressed provocatively.
00:07:37.000 Okay, so let's discuss these questions one at a time.
00:07:40.000 This is a fraught topic, obviously.
00:07:42.000 And so I'm going to try to remove myself from this a little bit.
00:07:44.000 We need the help of objective eyes, female eyes.
00:07:47.000 So we have asked our biologically female producers to help me out.
00:07:51.000 By the way, I should note that Dan Levy and all the people who are very upset about the encroachment on female spaces are totally fine.
00:07:56.000 With full on men walking into women's locker rooms, so long as they claim to be female.
00:08:01.000 They can't even say what a woman is, but they want to defend women.
00:08:03.000 Anyway, I need my biologically female producers to help me out here.
00:08:07.000 So we shall call this test appropriate or inappropriate.
00:08:10.000 We're going to ask the ladies, because again, I want to separate out the so called male gaze from this discussion.
00:08:14.000 We'll get to that in a moment.
00:08:15.000 So producers Savvy and Sarah, we're going to look at some TikToks of the gym women.
00:08:20.000 And you tell me if these outfits are gym appropriate or not gym appropriate.
00:08:24.000 Here's number one.
00:08:26.000 If female wants respect, why can I see her?
00:08:32.000 If female don't want sex, why she wear tiny outfits?
00:08:37.000 So far, she's adorable for me.
00:08:39.000 Okay, so I tend to agree.
00:08:45.000 I mean, your guys' take is more important than mine.
00:08:49.000 Jim, inappropriate?
00:08:49.000 Jim, appropriate?
00:08:51.000 I say appropriate.
00:08:52.000 I like her Spider Man t shirt.
00:08:54.000 Nothing weird here.
00:08:55.000 She's just doing regular workout moves.
00:08:57.000 Okay, so I'm going to assume that this is not the person that Shane Gillis is probably talking about in this joke.
00:09:00.000 Okay, so let's try another one of these.
00:09:09.000 This feels illegal.
00:09:10.000 How is this on the internet?
00:09:13.000 Look at the guys in the background trying to avert their eyes.
00:09:15.000 Right, you see this?
00:09:17.000 See the guys literally directing their gaze downward toward their phone?
00:09:20.000 Desperately trying not to look.
00:09:22.000 I have to avert my gaze.
00:09:23.000 I'm like, ma'am.
00:09:24.000 No, I'm like, damn, she is yoked.
00:09:26.000 Okay.
00:09:28.000 But yes, she's naked.
00:09:29.000 Like, there's no difference between that and.
00:09:32.000 And a whore, you might say.
00:09:33.000 Yeah.
00:09:34.000 And like what a whore would wear.
00:09:36.000 I mean, like, again, a whore is a thing with a definition.
00:09:38.000 Is this what a prostitute would wear in public?
00:09:40.000 If this woman were walking down Hollywood and Vine, Would she be out of place?
00:09:46.000 No.
00:09:47.000 I'm not saying that you guys get to say it.
00:09:49.000 I mean, come on.
00:09:50.000 And she's doing it for attention.
00:09:51.000 Is she there because she really, really, really needs to do deadlifts dressed like this?
00:09:55.000 No.
00:09:55.000 In fact, it would be so uncomfortable.
00:09:56.000 I would be worried about leaning over.
00:09:59.000 I'd be worried about doing anything in that outfit.
00:10:01.000 Yeah.
00:10:02.000 I mean, we used to reserve this sort of dress for either marriage or more lately the beach.
00:10:02.000 Yes.
00:10:07.000 But the gym is probably not the place where you're going to.
00:10:09.000 This has been up too long.
00:10:10.000 We need the next.
00:10:11.000 Yeah.
00:10:11.000 Well, you're right.
00:10:11.000 Okay.
00:10:12.000 Move on.
00:10:12.000 You're correct.
00:10:13.000 Move on.
00:10:13.000 Okay.
00:10:14.000 Yeah, this is not getting better.
00:10:16.000 Great quads, because I love quads, but we're not.
00:10:20.000 This is too much.
00:10:23.000 Okay.
00:10:24.000 That one's not bad.
00:10:25.000 Sweatpants.
00:10:26.000 We like it.
00:10:26.000 Upright rows.
00:10:27.000 Okay, here is where I have an issue.
00:10:30.000 This is like a bathing suit top.
00:10:32.000 No support.
00:10:33.000 Right, yeah.
00:10:34.000 There's nothing functional about that top.
00:10:36.000 Well, that's the right word, is functional.
00:10:38.000 Is this all functional, or like, we'll get to why women are dressing like this in a second, but like, I mean, inappropriate or appropriate, guys?
00:10:45.000 What's the ruling?
00:10:46.000 Inappropriate.
00:10:46.000 Inappropriate.
00:10:47.000 Okay.
00:10:49.000 Oh.
00:10:50.000 Yeah, it's just like those are those shorts that exactly what Gillis was talking about, where it just cinches it right in right at the corner.
00:10:58.000 This is right.
00:10:58.000 This is right.
00:10:59.000 We might, you know, I've talked on the show about face tattoo syndrome.
00:11:01.000 This is ass crack syndrome.
00:11:02.000 Like, I'm sorry.
00:11:04.000 Like, I'm going to wear something totally, you know, eye drawing.
00:11:08.000 And then if you look, I'm going to, like, be really, really, really mad.
00:11:11.000 Like, you got a face tattoo.
00:11:12.000 Like, I'm sorry.
00:11:13.000 Like, you didn't have to build the shorts that way.
00:11:16.000 Alibeth Stuckey said it best.
00:11:18.000 Wedgies used to be bullying.
00:11:20.000 Now they're in.
00:11:21.000 They're cool.
00:11:21.000 Everyone has a wedgie.
00:11:22.000 You should do it too.
00:11:24.000 Yep.
00:11:24.000 All right.
00:11:25.000 Last ones here.
00:11:27.000 Do we have more?
00:11:28.000 I think we have more.
00:11:29.000 Oh, okay.
00:11:30.000 This one is way too much for my eyes.
00:11:32.000 Yeah.
00:11:32.000 Okay.
00:11:32.000 Get ready.
00:11:33.000 Well, Dan Levy should be able to identify the nipples.
00:11:35.000 This is like way too much.
00:11:35.000 Yeah.
00:11:37.000 I'm like, okay.
00:11:37.000 Yeah.
00:11:38.000 What is the purpose?
00:11:39.000 I think this is what Shane Gillis was talking about, guys.
00:11:41.000 I'm pretty sure this is what Shane Gillis was talking about.
00:11:44.000 Because, by the way, this is not uncommon at gyms.
00:11:46.000 Just going to say, it isn't.
00:11:48.000 It's not uncommon anymore.
00:11:50.000 Like, you think that we're like, You know, picking kind of fruit off the tree randomly here that we're seeking these things out.
00:11:55.000 But I mean, girls, you've been to the gym lately, ladies.
00:11:59.000 I mean, have you seen women who dress sort of like this?
00:12:02.000 I mean, this is an exaggerated version, but like.
00:12:05.000 No, this is not that much of an exaggeration, honestly.
00:12:08.000 And again, like, you go ahead, dress like that.
00:12:10.000 You look great.
00:12:11.000 You're jacked, whatever, but you can't be pissed when someone looks at you.
00:12:14.000 You're screaming for attention.
00:12:15.000 Also, I feel like all the guys in these clips, I mean, maybe we'll talk about this, but all the guys in these clips that they're complaining about are just not the like, Cute gym crush guy that they're trying to get the attention from.
00:12:26.000 So it's just they're annoyed that the wrong guy is looking at him.
00:12:29.000 Well, I mean, what's funny about this is that it's basically a catch 22.
00:12:32.000 I mean, look at it because all these guys know they're on camera.
00:12:34.000 And so they're not even glancing, which, you know, they should try not to glance anyway.
00:12:38.000 But like you can see this guy in the background here militantly attempting to look the other way because he knows that if he's caught on camera so much as glancing in the direction of the very, very attention seeking woman, that he will then be plastered all over TikTok, clearly.
00:12:50.000 Okay.
00:12:50.000 So why do we pause on this?
00:12:53.000 I mean, obviously because Shane Gillis is not totally wrong.
00:12:56.000 I mean, like.
00:12:57.000 There is a basis.
00:12:58.000 Again, we separated this into two questions, right?
00:13:00.000 One was Are women dressing more inappropriately at the gym than they used to?
00:13:04.000 And the answer is pretty clearly yes.
00:13:05.000 And we say women, we don't mean all women.
00:13:07.000 Lots of women dress modestly at the gym, including, I would assume, our wonderful producers.
00:13:11.000 But there's a difference between dressing modestly or functionally at the gym or even wearing the leggings and doing what these ladies are doing.
00:13:18.000 Very often they're doing it on camera.
00:13:19.000 So, why do women dress this way, especially on social media?
00:13:23.000 So, again, we should separate out the functional spandex workout clothes from the kind of hoey workout clothes.
00:13:30.000 Why do women mimic each other when it comes to fashion?
00:13:32.000 That's really what's happening here.
00:13:34.000 So, that was simultaneously entertaining and awkward.

00:14:39.000 So, there was actually an experiment done back in 1983 where 160 women changed their judgments of clothing when they were given more opinions from fashion experts.
00:14:46.000 So, women tend to herd.
00:14:48.000 The same thing is true with men, but women do it with regard to fashion.
00:14:51.000 There's a 2016 study in the PLOS One where women demonstrated what they call selective conformity to fashion norms depending on their socioeconomic setting.
00:14:59.000 So, again, women will follow each other around in this way.
00:15:03.000 And also, if one woman goes to the gym dressed like this and men start paying attention to that woman, it is possible that other young women would also like male attention.
00:15:11.000 And the first woman has sort of broken a collective bargaining agreement between the women, and now she's receiving all the attention.
00:15:17.000 And if you want attention to men at the gym, I assume this is one way that women Get attention at the gym.
00:15:21.000 I mean, as Sarah was saying before the show in New York City, this is not wildly uncommon.
00:15:26.000 People flirt at gyms.
00:15:27.000 People, you know, find crushes at the gyms.
00:15:29.000 Like it is a dating place in many places around the country, I assume.
00:15:33.000 So here's the reality.
00:15:36.000 We live in what is now a very, very liberal society and women, you know, when you're dressed appropriately and when you're not, you do stop pretending you generally know.
00:15:44.000 I mean, again, I will ask the women, Sarah, Savvy, do women generally know when they're dressed appropriately?
00:15:49.000 Cause they do in literally every other setting.
00:15:51.000 So I assume they know when they're dressed appropriately at the gym and when they're not.
00:15:53.000 100%.
00:15:54.000 Right.
00:15:54.000 I mean, this is how normal people behave.
00:15:56.000 Right.
00:15:56.000 I mean, like normal people mow things.
00:15:58.000 And as we'll get to in a minute, so much of what is happening in the response to Shane Gillis is also the response, by the way, to the Cornell 7, which is we're just going to pretend that men and women don't exist except as weird androgynous widgets or something.
00:16:10.000 So now we get to the second part of the question, right?
00:16:10.000 Okay.
00:16:12.000 So remember, the joke was that women are dressing like whores at the gym.
00:16:16.000 That's what he said.
00:16:17.000 And that men are supposed to not look.
00:16:20.000 So we challenged the first half, right?
00:16:21.000 Are women dressing more provocatively?
00:16:23.000 Take out the jokey whore joke.
00:16:25.000 But Are women dressing less modestly at the gym?
00:16:28.000 The answer is many women are.
00:16:30.000 Duh.
00:16:32.000 And that's not just me saying that, it's the female producers.
00:16:34.000 So you can yell at them.
00:16:35.000 But now to the second question and the more important one for our purposes the assumption that men need to gouge out their eyes with a spoon if women choose to dress inappropriately at the gym.
00:16:44.000 Right?
00:16:44.000 Because that's the other thing that Dan Levy and so many libs today are saying.
00:16:48.000 Well, even if women dress basically nude at the gym, why are men looking?
00:16:52.000 Women are higher creatures.
00:16:53.000 Men cannot look.
00:16:54.000 Men must not look.
00:16:55.000 Okay.
00:16:55.000 So let us be clear about how evolutionary biology works.
00:17:00.000 Men are attracted to unclad women.
00:17:03.000 I know, like, the fact I have to explain this stuff to people, like, fully developed adults.
00:17:09.000 I'm sorry, our entire society has frontally lobotomized itself.
00:17:13.000 Going back throughout literally all of human history, you know what men are into?
00:17:17.000 The unclad women.
00:17:18.000 Duh.
00:17:20.000 Hey, but just because some people require actual scientific studies to confirm the obvious, there was a 2016 study in the archives of sexual behavior where researchers briefly presented nude or partially clothed male and female images, followed by a target that participants had to detect.
00:17:35.000 Heterosexual men detected targets faster when they appeared where the female image had been.
00:17:39.000 Evidence their attention had shifted toward it, even though the task wasn't even to attract, evaluate attractiveness.
00:17:44.000 Meanwhile, women showed no preference in attention to male pictures or to female pictures because men and women's limbic systems don't work the same way.
00:17:52.000 Because of evolutionary biology, where men inherently desire to procreate with as many women as possible, the brain was built so that men direct their attention at unclad women.
00:18:02.000 Okay, that just happens naturally.
00:18:04.000 That is a normal thing.
00:18:05.000 It is why Where's Waldo is the series and not Where's Naked Lady.
00:18:09.000 Because, where's Naked Lady?
00:18:11.000 A dude could go through that book in approximately 0.7 seconds, the entire book.
00:18:16.000 A 2011 study published in the Plus One looked at the human brain's response to nude people, people in swimsuits, and fully clothed people.
00:18:24.000 Electrical activity associated with visual processing peaked 170 milliseconds after an image appeared.
00:18:29.000 Nudity produced a stronger early brain response than clothed people, and males exhibited a stronger brain response to female nudity.
00:18:37.000 Now, again, that just means that.
00:18:39.000 If an unclad or scantily clad woman walks through the room, a man will immediately divert his eyes toward it.
00:18:44.000 And then what happens next is your conscious decision making, right?
00:18:47.000 This is the part that matters for men.
00:18:50.000 Okay, again, Shane Gillis says you're supposed to avert your eyes.
00:18:53.000 You are supposed to avert your eyes, but there's a difference between the passing glance and gawking, right?
00:19:00.000 Obviously, there are creepy dudes who exist and who are just staring and ogling at women.
00:19:04.000 That's gross and it's creepy and they shouldn't do it.
00:19:06.000 Also, if you wear scantily clad clothing to the gym and a guy, Directs his gaze toward you and then away.
00:19:13.000 That is how human biology works.
00:19:15.000 That's how human.
00:19:17.000 Again, if you're Abdul Al Sayed and your entire Instagram is filled with OnlyFans models, I can assume that you keep lingering over the Instagram OnlyFans models.
00:19:27.000 If you're on Instagram, my team has access to my Instagram account.
00:19:31.000 And like the things that I actually look at on Instagram, right?
00:19:33.000 Of course, we get served that on your For You page.
00:19:36.000 But then like every third video that scrolls on its own is going to be some OnlyFans model.
00:19:42.000 And it's because it clocked me as being a 40-some-year-old man.
00:19:46.000 Well, I'm pretty sure it clocked you as doing something else, Madude.
00:19:49.000 Because if you don't hover over those pictures, it's not going to feed you more of them.
00:19:52.000 That's the way the algorithm actually works.
00:19:54.000 But again, here's the point: both men and women have agency.
00:19:59.000 Men in America generally are not interested in putting women in burqas unless you're in Minneapolis or Dearborn or you're Abdul-Al-Sayed's wife.
00:20:05.000 And well-adjusted women in America are probably familiar with that feeling where what they're wearing feels inappropriate for the setting that you're in.
00:20:13.000 Right.
00:20:13.000 Again, women are not wearing white coats and stethoscopes to the gym.
00:20:17.000 That would be inappropriate.
00:20:17.000 It's also inappropriate if you show up dressed like some of the women who we showed earlier, who again are seeking attention.
00:20:22.000 It is they themselves putting these pictures up.
00:20:23.000 This is not randos taking pictures of them.
00:20:25.000 This is emperor's new clothes kind of stuff.
00:20:28.000 A woman who dresses like that takes a picture of herself, puts it on the internet for attention, and then gets upset when people notice.
00:20:33.000 Now, again, all of this is basic and logical.
00:20:36.000 And again, I will note for the record the same people who are condemning all men, all men are bad for having eyeballs that connect to their limbic system and testosterone running through their body.
00:20:44.000 Also, condemn Sidney Sweeney as a whore for being unclad in a commercial for a sports betting app.
00:20:49.000 Not at the gym, in a sports betting app commercial.
00:20:51.000 So, what is behind all this?
00:20:53.000 Why is this even an important story?
00:20:54.000 Why is the backlash important?
00:20:55.000 Why?
00:20:56.000 Because we as a society have now developed a fundamental inability to understand the differences between the sexes.
00:21:02.000 We have to pretend that men don't exist and women don't exist and they're not different.
00:21:07.000 But here's the thing the world exists around you.
00:21:10.000 You shouldn't walk around the world with zero regard or consequence for how people will interface with you and how human beings interface with the world.
00:21:18.000 If you are scantily clad, clothing to the gym, there will be predictable responses to that.
00:21:22.000 Doesn't mean the responses are always right.
00:21:24.000 It also doesn't mean that if a guy glances at you, he has done something deeply, deeply wrong.
00:21:28.000 Different scene glancing and ogling.
00:21:30.000 One is a natural limbic system response, and the other is the guy being kind of trashy.
00:21:36.000 But what this really bespeaks, and this is why the left is bought into all this sort of stuff, is the idea that women are never responsible for any decision they make ever.
00:21:44.000 This is how you end up at the Cornell 7 case.
00:21:46.000 You want a connection from the Shane Gillis story to the Cornell 7 case?
00:21:49.000 It is the idea that a woman can engage in any behavior she wants, up to and including having sex with multiple men voluntarily and then texting them later to say it was voluntary and she enjoyed it and then claim that she was raped.
00:22:01.000 That women have no agency and men have ultimate agency, but also women have ultimate agency and men have no agency.
00:22:06.000 So all those things are true all at the same time.
00:22:08.000 This brings us to Alex Cooper.
00:22:09.000 So Alex Cooper.
00:22:10.000 Is a trashy, trashy podcast host.
00:22:13.000 She spends her entire career now, she's married and gonna have a kid.
00:22:17.000 And she spends her entire career promoting promiscuity and treating men in ugly fashion and sexually manipulating men.
00:22:25.000 And now she's complaining that we are in a society where men and women don't seem to be able to function together.
00:22:31.000 I wonder why.
00:22:32.000 Why did that happen, Alex Cooper?
00:22:34.000 It's all shocking.
00:22:38.000 It has been almost a decade since the Me Too movement first started.
00:22:42.000 A decade.
00:22:43.000 How the hell are we still here?
00:22:45.000 Right?
00:22:46.000 We have been talking about campus rape, consent, the way institutions fail women for even longer than that.
00:22:53.000 We've got the language.
00:22:54.000 We have the research.
00:22:56.000 We have the tools and the resources to understand sexual violence, to help survivors and to prevent it from happening.
00:23:03.000 And yet we are still having the exact same conversations.
00:23:08.000 It is exhausting.
00:23:11.000 And more importantly, it is infuriating.
00:23:13.000 More than one in five women Have experienced rape.
00:23:18.000 One in five women.
00:23:20.000 That statistic is nonsense.
00:23:21.000 That statistic is total nonsense.
00:23:22.000 It completely redefines everything that a woman doesn't like from literally a guy going in for a kiss and her rejecting it to actual rape as rape.
00:23:29.000 That's where that statistic comes from.
00:23:32.000 But one of the reasons why the Me Too movement is still in question is because you keep taking bad examples like Jane Doe at Cornell and insisting it's rape.
00:23:41.000 Not only do I think rape is bad, I think the rapist should be castrated or killed, but I think that the rape actually has to be a rape.
00:23:48.000 But here is the problem.
00:23:49.000 Alex Cooper has promoted a notion in the world that anything that a woman does, including having consensual sex with men, and then later saying she regrets it and accusing them of rape, is basically fine.
00:24:00.000 By the way, her past episodes are all about manipulation of men.
00:24:04.000 She has episodes called Exposing Our Body Counts, or Christina Aguilera Getting Dirty and Talking Sex, or Exposing My Athlete Roster, which is all the athletes that she slept with.
00:24:13.000 And by the way, the kinds of guests she has on the show, people like Nikki Glazer, who says it's hot when her husband sleeps with other women.
00:24:20.000 But by the way, if she'd said that her husband is a piece of trash for sleeping with other women, then also Alex Cooper would have agreed.
00:24:26.000 You call this the hot husband fetish.
00:24:27.000 Yes.
00:24:28.000 Which is essentially when you want your partner to have sexual experiences with other people outside of the relationship.
00:24:32.000 So when did this start for you, Nikki?
00:24:32.000 Yeah.
00:24:34.000 Let's go back.
00:24:35.000 It started with my boyfriend when I was 29, because I really hadn't had a boyfriend before then.
00:24:40.000 He would tell me about, like, I would always ask him about, like, past hookups and girlfriends and how they got together.
00:24:46.000 Like, I always like the beginning.
00:24:47.000 Like, how did you guys first know you liked each other?
00:24:49.000 Like, I love that, like, Our legs were touching under a table and neither of us moved our leg, or something like that.
00:24:53.000 I'd be like, oh, so like, I don't know, it would make me like horny to like think about him doing that with other girls.
00:24:58.000 This is the kind of stuff that Alex Cooper pushes.
00:25:01.000 Oh, and by the way, here she is explaining her strategy on how to get the attention of a famous Red Sox player.
00:25:05.000 You won't believe it, it's to get drunk and dress provocatively.
00:25:08.000 And I progressively get more and intoxicated.
00:25:17.000 And I get this courage about me thinking in my drunken state that if I can get him to have one of our deep, classic, honest, Vulnerable conversations we always have in bed.
00:25:35.000 And if I push up the titties enough, he's obviously going to leave that girl and he's going to end up with me tonight.
00:25:43.000 It's one plus one equals two.
00:25:43.000 It's classic.
00:25:44.000 Like done.
00:25:46.000 Okay.
00:25:46.000 But the way that she was pursuing the guy from the Red Sox was to push up her breasts and then get incredibly, incredibly drunk.
00:25:54.000 But now here she is suggesting that we have a ubiquitous problem across college campuses with rape.
00:25:58.000 She had on a professor from Cornell named Kate Mann.
00:26:03.000 Who is a professor of philosophy specializing in moral, feminist, and social philosophy?
00:26:07.000 She's written three books, including Down Girl, The Logic of Misogyny, one called How Male Privilege Hurts Women, and of course, Unshrinking How to Face Fat Phobia.
00:26:18.000 Oh boy.
00:26:19.000 So here we go.
00:26:21.000 This is absolutely not a uniquely Cornell problem.
00:26:24.000 And I say this not to defend my employer.
00:26:26.000 I have been very vocally critical of Cornell's response to these allegations, but this is a ubiquitous problem across campuses.
00:26:35.000 And when it is A man versus a woman scenario, very often nothing happens to the alleged perpetrator, even when there's really good evidence and the female victim ends up in a terrible position.
00:26:49.000 So the system is just not working as it should.
00:26:53.000 And frankly, it's not even clear to me that it is even designed to support survivors.
00:26:59.000 So I'm just going to point out again, they're talking about the Cornell 7 case where the girl texted the guy she had sex with saying she enjoyed it, calling it a gangbang.
00:26:59.000 Okay.
00:27:07.000 And saying that she consented to everything and nothing illegal happened.
00:27:10.000 And they're saying that this is a cover up by the cops at the university.
00:27:13.000 And then Alex Cooper and Kate Mann find themselves arguing for a zero tolerance sexual misconduct policy.
00:27:18.000 Here's what they have to say I really think that we need to become a zero tolerance campus and that all campuses need to apply this policy where if we find someone responsible for a serious kind of sexual misconduct, that leads to an expulsion.
00:27:33.000 I completely agree.
00:27:35.000 Well, I mean, I think everyone agrees that if someone is found actually responsible for an act of sexual misconduct, they should be expelled.
00:27:41.000 Harsher zero tolerance policy.
00:27:41.000 I haven't even.
00:27:43.000 It's called marriage.
00:27:45.000 It's where you only have sex with the person you're married to.
00:27:48.000 I know it's crazy.
00:27:49.000 It's this crazy idea that I came up with after looking at thousands of years of human history, where like you only have sex with the person that you have a lifelong commitment to.
00:27:56.000 I know that's crazy.
00:27:57.000 And that's really bad.
00:27:59.000 That's really prudish and everything.
00:28:01.000 It does tend to escape virtually all the problems we've been talking about today, I noticed.
00:28:06.000 But instead, this Cornell professor, the wisest among us, Kate Mann, is explaining what she calls empathy.
00:28:14.000 So empathy is my word for the scenarios where we have sympathy and loyalty for a male perpetrator of misogyny over a female victim.
00:28:24.000 So basically we feel bad for him who did the thing that is awful over someone who is the victim of that harmful behavior.
00:28:35.000 And so we see this.
00:28:36.000 I actually coined the term in relation to Brock Turner.
00:28:40.000 He was found guilty, convicted of sexually assaulting Chanel Miller behind a dumpster at Stanford's campus.
00:28:48.000 After a fraternity party.
00:28:51.000 And yet, so many people worried about him missing out on his bright future rather than the fact that what about her bright future?
00:28:59.000 What about the ways she was shattered?
00:29:02.000 What about the ways that this, as we now know, brilliant writer and creator and artist had her life derailed for years by what he did to her?
00:29:12.000 Is this a widespread thing that like men only have sympathy for actual rapists?
00:29:17.000 Is that a thing?
00:29:18.000 Really?
00:29:19.000 And then Alex Cooper concludes by suggesting that basically all of the ordinary guys that you know are probably rapists, or at least rapists look like the ordinary guys.
00:29:29.000 She texted him the next day.
00:29:32.000 I stayed with my rapist for two more years and continued to date him.
00:29:36.000 I called him the next day and asked if he wanted to go to pizza with you.
00:29:40.000 I went to his house the next day.
00:29:42.000 I had consensual sex with him the next day.
00:29:45.000 It is so confusing, I think, because we have not been able to find the right way to talk about this because it's so secretive, right?
00:29:56.000 That people start to, again, he's a monster.
00:30:00.000 No, no, this is your friend's brother.
00:30:02.000 This is.
00:30:03.000 Your neighbor.
00:30:04.000 This is the kid that sits next to you in class, and they look like ordinary guys.
00:30:11.000 Well, I mean, no, actually, the person who raped you is a rapist.
00:30:17.000 Like, that's how rape works.
00:30:18.000 But here's the thing what Alice Cooper is preaching is that women are inherently all the time victims.
00:30:24.000 This is why the Me Too movement failed, because the Me Too movement was the idea that all women had the same experiences as every woman who'd been raped.
00:30:30.000 The vast majority of women were victims of rape, that men are inherently victimizers, and that you ought to be wary of all men as cruel and inhumane.
00:30:37.000 Basically, Alex Cooper is to women as Andrew Tate is to men.
00:30:40.000 They are the same thing but mirror images.
00:30:42.000 She's just as predatory rhetorically as Andrew Tate is.
00:30:45.000 And what's worse, they actually drive each other.
00:30:47.000 So, Alex Cooper says women should sleep around endlessly and flaunt their body count and flaunt their sexuality in order to manipulate men.
00:30:54.000 Get drunk, push up your boobs, go just get guys.
00:30:57.000 And then, even if there's no evidence of rape, we should believe female allegations because listen, aren't men all pigs?
00:31:03.000 Aren't they just gross?
00:31:04.000 And you should just manipulate them?
00:31:05.000 They're just bad.
00:31:06.000 Andrew Tate says that women view you as pigs.
00:31:09.000 And sexually manipulate you and lie about you and then divorce you and take your assets.
00:31:13.000 So that means you should treat women as trash because essentially they are.
00:31:15.000 So you've got Alex Cooper saying men are pigs and Andrew Tate saying women are trash.
00:31:19.000 And that's an endless doom loop of the battle between the sexes.
00:31:22.000 And by the way, all of it's evil, like truly and actually evil, because there is nothing more evil on this planet than driving a wedge between men and women.
00:31:30.000 The single most important thing happening on planet Earth every single day is, in the words of the books of Genesis, in the book of Genesis, therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife and they shall become one flesh.
00:31:42.000 So here's how that works.
00:31:44.000 Men exist and women exist and they are not the same.
00:31:47.000 They don't function the same.
00:31:49.000 And they're not enemies.
00:31:50.000 They are partners.
00:31:51.000 They are made for one another, as it says in Genesis.
00:31:54.000 And guess what?
00:31:55.000 We spent thousands of years developing social institutions that allow men and women to become one flesh for all time.
00:32:02.000 Men, thanks to evolutionary biology, are driven by the desire to have sex with lots of women.
00:32:06.000 Women, also thanks to evolutionary biology, are far more discriminating because they have to carry and nourish children.
00:32:13.000 So, we created marriage in order to curb men's appetites and in order to ensure a father to raise children and defend the wife.
00:32:19.000 Far from being a patriarchal and evil institution, marriage is the greatest boon to both women and also men.
00:32:25.000 Women, because it provides them with a man to act as defender, protector, lover, and father, and men, because marriage provides them with responsibility and nurturing and a reason to create and build.
00:32:37.000 So, George Gilder, who's a philosopher and economist, he wrote a fascinating book called Men and Marriage back in the 70s.
00:32:43.000 And he said this.
00:32:45.000 In a world where women do not say no, the man is never forced to settle down and make serious choices.
00:32:49.000 His sex drive, the most powerful compulsion in his life, is never used to make him part of civilization as a supporter of a family.
00:32:55.000 If a woman does not force him to make a long term commitment to marry, in general, he doesn't.
00:32:59.000 It is maternity that requires commitment.
00:33:01.000 His sex drive only demands conquest, driving him from body to body in an unsettling hunt for variety and excitement in which much of the thrill is in the chase itself.
00:33:09.000 Obviously, the most enduring way to make this commitment is through marriage.
00:33:12.000 Yet, because sexual liberals deny the difference between the sexes, their explanations of why there are marriages and why marriage is needed and desired ignore the central truth of marriage that it is built on sex roles.
00:33:23.000 Of course, it is.
00:33:24.000 Because guess what?
00:33:25.000 Men and women are not the same.
00:33:28.000 Again, it is incredible how many obvious things I have to say on this show about things that are perfectly obvious to the smallest children.
00:33:33.000 But that's where we are in society.
00:33:36.000 That is where we are.
00:33:37.000 And again, it's amazing that because we decided to reject age old wisdom and also basic common sense, we are now going to have to apparently reverse engineer conservatism from first principles.
00:33:51.000 That's where we are now.
00:33:53.000 So now in response to Shane Gillis' joke, there are a lot of women who are talking about maybe we should have separate sexes at the gym so that the men aren't just ogling scantily clad women.
00:34:01.000 Hey.
00:34:01.000 You know, we used to call that just modesty and decency.
00:34:05.000 Or we're saying that men and women should only have sex with people with whom they share commitment because otherwise something deeper might be violated.
00:34:11.000 Hey, you know what we used to call that one?
00:34:13.000 We used to call it marriage.
00:34:15.000 So great job, everybody.
00:34:16.000 All it took was several generations of destroying relations between the sexes.
00:34:20.000 The end of marriage as an institution, skyrocketing rates of suicidal ideation, depression, divorce, childlessness, all to get back to where common sense said we should be for legitimately centuries.
00:34:31.000 So just great job.
00:34:32.000 Everybody, great job.
00:34:33.000 What an amazing video you just watched.
00:34:35.000 Wasn't that amazing?
