The Ben Shapiro Show - Trump Kills DEI, Affirmative Action!

00:00:00.000 Well, folks, I'm not yet tired of the winning.

00:00:01.000 President Trump is sprinting out of the gate.

00:00:04.000 America's golden age is just getting started.

00:00:05.000 Be here with us for every moment.

00:00:06.000 There's never been a better time to join Daily Wire.

00:00:08.000 Plus, use code 47 right now for 47% off your new annual membership.

00:00:13.000 Well, President Trump's approval rating currently stands at 47%.

00:00:17.000 That is the highest approval rating that President Trump has ever had, including during his first term.

00:00:22.000 Many of his policies are wildly popular.

00:00:24.000 Like, for example...

00:00:25.000 Saying that there are only two sexes. 0.70

00:00:27.000 Turns out that's like an 80-20 proposition in the United States of America.

00:00:31.000 Further, 58% of respondents to a Reuters-Ipsos poll agreed with the statement the United States should, quote, dramatically reduce the number of migrants allowed to claim asylum at the border.

00:00:41.000 And these are big numbers for President Trump.

00:00:44.000 The less popular items on his agenda include some of the pardons that he's issuing, but he's burying that in all of the popular policies.

00:00:51.000 And, by the way, The stock market is at a new all-time high.

00:00:55.000 The S&P 500 is at a record high three days since President Trump took office.

00:00:59.000 Here is CNBC reporting yesterday.

00:01:01.000 And it's all about 6,100 on the S&P 500.

00:01:05.000 We have a new high.

00:01:07.000 It is.

00:01:08.000 And look, it's been a really good week in terms of yields coming down, in terms of earnings, and then you get this announcement surrounding Stargate and the effect that you're seeing here, not just on the AI names that we already know, but it's really expanding beyond that.

00:01:23.000 It's expanding into networking.

00:01:25.000 It's expanding into connectors.

00:01:27.000 One of the names that I own is TE Connectivity, ticker symbol T-E-L. That's up nicely today on the back of this.

00:01:34.000 So this is positive.

00:01:37.000 About spending and supporting the infrastructure, the infrastructure of artificial intelligence.

00:01:43.000 Look at these moves.

00:01:43.000 It goes beyond.

00:01:45.000 These moves.

00:01:45.000 Sorry to interrupt you here.

00:01:47.000 I mean, are these moves astounding to you?

00:01:50.000 Oracle, best two-day move in three years.

00:01:54.000 Can we show, let's cycle through these again.

00:01:56.000 I mean, I saw Arista was up a lot today.

00:02:01.000 Technology's up five.

00:02:02.000 A lot of stocks that we've been talking about more lately, because you own a lot of them, are just ripping today.

00:02:07.000 Why?

00:02:08.000 Because innovation is back.

00:02:10.000 Because entrepreneurship is back.

00:02:12.000 Because the founder mentality is back.

00:02:14.000 And the left does not know what to do.

00:02:16.000 The fact that there are two controversies over the past 48 hours have been a fake controversy surrounding Elon Musk not doing a Nazi salute.

00:02:23.000 And a bizarre left-wing bishop.

00:02:28.000 At the Episcopal Church, who apparently, allegedly, lived at one point with both her boyfriend and his girlfriend at one point.

00:02:37.000 This person decided to lecture the President of the United States at the National Prayer Service about transgender children and why he should stop deporting illegal immigrants.

00:02:45.000 President Trump did respond, quote, the so-called bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a radical left hardline Trump hater.

00:02:52.000 She brought her church into a world of politics in a very ungracious way.

00:02:55.000 She was nasty in tone and not compelling or smart. 0.54

00:02:58.000 She failed to mention the large number of illegal migrants that came into our country and killed people. 0.58

00:03:01.000 Many were deposited from jails and mental institutions.

00:03:04.000 It's a giant crime wave that is taking place in the United States.

00:03:07.000 Apart from inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one.

00:03:13.000 She is not very good at her job.

00:03:15.000 Fact check, true.

00:03:16.000 She and her church owe the public an apology.

00:03:19.000 I'm sorry, that's solid stuff there from the President of the United States.

00:03:22.000 He was asked a couple of days.

00:03:26.000 Mr. President, what did you think of the sermon?

00:03:36.000 What did you think of the sermon?

00:03:39.000 What did you think?

00:03:43.000 Did you like it?

00:03:45.000 Did you find it exciting?

00:03:46.000 Not too exciting, was it?

00:03:48.000 I didn't think it was a good service.

00:03:51.000 Thank you very much.

00:03:52.000 Thank you, press.

00:03:53.000 Thank you, press.

00:03:54.000 They can do much better.

00:03:55.000 And by the way, whomever decided inside the administration to subject Donald Trump to that is like that person should definitely be on the outs.

00:04:04.000 I will say that the footage, as I said at the time, of J.D. Vance doing Jim from the office, like, one of the best vibes of this administration is J.D.'s Jim from the office vibe, and it's constant.

00:04:14.000 The constant reaction shots that he saw during his debates with Tim Walz.

00:04:17.000 The reaction shots that you get when he's being lectured about transgender children where he looks like he just can't even believe what's happening.

00:04:23.000 It is a pretty wonderful thing.

00:04:25.000 Well, now the left has decided to turn Bishop Marianne Buddy, who apparently is this no-name bishop who decided to lecture the president and vice president, into a resistance hero.

00:04:35.000 It's time for a new resistance hero.

00:04:37.000 How exciting.

00:04:38.000 Well, Bishop Buddy was on with Erin Burnett and decided to talk about her religious precepts, which include apparently transing the children.

00:04:46.000 I agree with you.

00:04:47.000 It was a very muted response.

00:04:51.000 I wasn't expecting...

00:04:54.000 I keep my expectations low whenever I preach, Erin.

00:04:58.000 And I can't always measure impact by body language or even what people say afterwards.

00:05:04.000 And so I have to let all of that go.

00:05:06.000 I speak from what I believe I've been given to say and let it go from there.

00:05:12.000 But actually, it was...

00:05:16.000 It was a respectful response.

00:05:17.000 He didn't like it.

00:05:18.000 He said so.

00:05:19.000 He said we could do better.

00:05:22.000 Some of the other comments I've received haven't been as kind or has been as muted, shall we say.

00:05:29.000 And one of the things I was trying to get across is that we can actually have these conversations in a respectful way.

00:05:35.000 Well, she did not have their conversation in a respectful way.

00:05:37.000 She hijacked a national prayer service to throw a bunch of politics in there. 1.00

00:05:41.000 She then appeared on The View because, again, time for new resistance. 0.99

00:05:44.000 If this is the best you guys can bring, If Marianne Edgar, buddy, is your resistance hero, guys, you're going to have to do better than this.

00:05:52.000 I mean, how could it not be politicized, right?

00:05:54.000 We're in a hyper-political climate.

00:05:57.000 One of the things I caution about is the culture of contempt in which we live that immediately rushes to the worst possible interpretations of what people are saying and to put them in categories.

00:06:10.000 Such as the ones you've just described.

00:06:12.000 That's part of the air we breathe now.

00:06:14.000 And I was trying to speak a truth that I felt needed to be said, but to do it in as respectful and kind a way as I could.

00:06:22.000 It was neither respectful nor kind, of course.

00:06:26.000 The media, of course, are already arraying against President Trump.

00:06:32.000 It's not helping their ratings, by the way.

00:06:34.000 I think one of the sort of going theories about media...

00:06:37.000 Is that left-wing media thrive when there is a right-winger in office?

00:06:40.000 That might have been true during Trump 1. I do not think that's going to be true during Trump 2 because it's just boring.

00:06:44.000 You know exactly what they're going to say before they say it.

00:06:47.000 It's tiring, and it's annoying, and it's boring.

00:06:50.000 Listening to CNN hosts gush over a decline in inauguration ratings.

00:06:54.000 I'm sorry, this is not going to bring CNN's ratings back.

00:06:56.000 They are firing, by the way, hundreds of people this week because they just have no ratings at all.

00:07:01.000 They have no ratings, no revenue, nothing.

00:07:04.000 On the subject of backwards looking at past grievances, some of the television ratings for the inauguration have come out.

00:07:11.000 Fewer people watched than watched when President Biden was inaugurated four years ago.

00:07:15.000 Fewer people watched than when Donald Trump was inaugurated the first time.

00:07:19.000 Eight years ago?

00:07:20.000 Now, part of this might be, you know, shifting television audiences, but it's a significant drop-off there.

00:07:25.000 How do you think President Trump feels about that?

00:07:27.000 You've been in the White House for some of these discussions about viewers and ratings and numbers.

00:07:31.000 I have a feeling he's going to push back and say the streaming numbers were there and it was the most watched inauguration in history.

00:07:36.000 But listen, we live in a deeply polarized country.

00:07:39.000 Half the country is thrilled that Donald Trump is back in the White House and the other is exhausted and didn't want to tune in.

00:07:44.000 And that's what the next four years is going to underscore.

00:07:46.000 Okay, but let me just point out, the streaming numbers actually were through the roof.

00:07:49.000 I mean, we know our streaming numbers at Daily Wire, and they were extraordinary.

00:07:52.000 It was easily the highest-rated thing that we've ever done.

00:07:54.000 So, there's that.

00:07:56.000 Okay, but here's the reality.

00:07:58.000 While they are busy covering the distractions of the Trump administration, things are actually getting done.

00:08:03.000 So, yesterday, the White House issued an order that all federal employees in DEI roles be placed on paid leave by 5 p.m.

00:08:14.000 on Wednesday.

00:08:15.000 They are shutting down, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

00:08:17.000 Every single DEI office across the entirety of the federal government.

00:08:22.000 According to this new memorandum, they're taking steps to close agency DEIA offices.

00:08:29.000 Each should take prompt actions regarding the offices and agency subunits focused exclusively on DEI. Specifically, agency heads should, no later than 5 p.m.

00:08:40.000 Eastern time, Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025, send an agency-wide notice to employees, informing them of the closure and asking employees if they know of any efforts to disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language, a template agency-wide notice is attached as Appendix 1.

00:08:53.000 So in other words, also let us know if you guys are going to try and hide your DEI employees under another rubric.

00:08:59.000 Trump 2.0 is smarter than Trump 1.0.

00:09:02.000 They know the tricks that are going to be played, and they are pursuing those tricks all the way down the rabbit hole.

00:09:07.000 They are going to stop it.

00:09:10.000 They already drafted a template email saying, That pay and benefits were going to be paid during paid leave?

00:09:18.000 That these jobs basically were going to be sunsetted?

00:09:21.000 This is a massive change.

00:09:23.000 The White House put a statement out at the time suggesting, quote, the Biden administration forced illegal and immoral discrimination programs going by the name diversity, equity, and inclusion into virtually all aspects of the federal government and areas ranging from airline safety to the military.

00:09:38.000 This is a concerted effort stemming from President Biden's first day in office when he issued Executive Order 13958, advancing racial equity and support for underserved communities through the federal government.

00:09:48.000 Pursuant to Executive Order 13958 and follow-on orders, nearly every federal agency and entity submitted equity action plans.

00:09:55.000 The public release of these plans demonstrated immense public waste and shameful discrimination.

00:09:59.000 That ends today.

00:10:01.000 Americans deserve a government committed to serving every person with equal dignity and respect and to expanding precious taxpayer resources only on making America great.

00:10:09.000 This is excellent.

00:10:11.000 This is huge. 0.95

00:10:12.000 DEI is being killed by the Trump administration.

00:10:15.000 I'll get to more on that in just one second.

00:12:23.000 The brand new FCC chair, Brendan Carr, who is an excellent, excellent pick by the President of the United States.

00:12:29.000 He, of course, is on the FCC. He's been elevated to the FCC chair.

00:12:33.000 And I know the chair.

00:12:35.000 He's a truly moral person who believes the right things.

00:12:40.000 Here he was, pointing out that his agency had been spending millions of dollars on DEI. For the patriotic Americans, they feel like this sense of decline, the sense of malaise that's taken over the country over the last four years is ending.

00:12:53.000 And the way President Trump is doing it is going right to the source of that decline, and he's getting rid of it root and branch, and DEI is part of it.

00:13:00.000 To your point, people would be shocked if they learned how much DEI had been embedded in agencies.

00:13:05.000 At the FCC alone, we were spending millions and millions of dollars promoting it.

00:13:09.000 Thanks to President Trump's leadership, that's ending, and we're getting things turned around, focusing on our core.

00:13:15.000 Yeah, there is a sort of international conservatism that is rising.

00:13:20.000 And that international conservatism, again, it's being imitated everywhere.

00:13:24.000 It includes Brendan Carr citing my favorite modern politician, Javier Mille, from Argentina, when he says, if you're not on board with killing DEI, afuera, get out of here.

00:13:36.000 Look, anybody that is not on board with the agenda that we're going to be running, I have just one thing to say to them, which is afuera.

00:13:42.000 We've got to move on.

00:13:44.000 This is President Trump's administration.

00:13:46.000 The administration is going to follow his lead.

00:13:48.000 And for my part at the FCC, we want to make sure that we get to the core mission.

00:13:52.000 So that's, you know, reigning in big tech.

00:13:54.000 It's going to be taking a look at media and making sure they live up to their public interest obligation.

00:13:58.000 It's getting our economy going through new actions on space so we can get going there.

00:14:04.000 And it's promoting national security.

00:14:05.000 That's the agenda that I'll be running at the FCC. And thankfully, we have a lot of actually really talented, dedicated career staff there.

00:14:12.000 I'm confident that we're going to execute on that agenda.

00:14:15.000 By the way, this includes doing the most obvious things.

00:14:17.000 Like, for example, stop it with the DEI. When it comes to the Federal Aviation Administration, when you have a pilot, you do not care whether the pilot is white, black, green, brown, male, female.

00:14:29.000 What you care about is whether the plane gets where it's supposed to go in the safest possible way. 0.89

00:14:33.000 The notion that you are hiring pilots based on their intersectional credentials is one of the dumbest things anyone has ever pursued.

00:14:39.000 And the White House has now put out an executive order on this, quote, illegal and discriminatory DEI hiring, including on the basis of race, sex, disability, or any other criteria.

00:14:49.000 Other than the safety of airline passengers and overall job excellence, competency and qualification harms all Americans who deserve to fly with confidence.

00:14:56.000 It also penalizes hardworking Americans who want to serve in the FAA but are unable to do so as they lack a requisite disability or skin color.

00:15:02.000 FAA employees must hold the qualifications and have the ability to perform their jobs to the highest possible standard of excellence.

00:15:09.000 This is obviously really, really good.

00:15:11.000 The biggest action that was taken by President Trump yesterday was his move To destroy Executive Order 11246. Executive Order 11246 was an executive order that was originally signed by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965. And it required affirmative action.

00:15:33.000 In fact, it prohibited federal contractors and federally assisted construction contractors and subcontractors who do over $10,000 in government business in one year.

00:15:42.000 From discriminating in employment decisions on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, which sounds fine, right?

00:15:46.000 No discrimination if you are going to contract with the federal government.

00:15:49.000 There's only one problem.

00:15:50.000 It required contractors to discriminate, to, quote, take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed and that employees are treated during employment without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin.

00:16:01.000 That affirmative action means racial discrimination. 0.67

00:16:06.000 It means not anti-discrimination, but yes, discrimination.

00:16:11.000 Has now rescinded that executive order.

00:16:15.000 Okay, that EO, that LBJ EO, was notorious.

00:16:19.000 It was notorious for having crammed affirmative action throughout the federal government. 0.99

00:16:24.000 President Trump killed it dead.

00:16:26.000 The stuff that Trump is doing in the first three days alone is astonishing. 0.88

00:16:30.000 Truly astonishing.

00:16:31.000 Meanwhile, when it comes to immigration, President Trump is moving.

00:16:35.000 This was his key promise since 2015, and he is not letting up, according to the Associated Press.

00:16:40.000 The Pentagon said on Wednesday it has begun deploying 1,500 active-duty troops to help secure the southern border, putting in motion plans that President Trump laid out in executive order shortly after he took office to crack down on immigration.

00:16:51.000 Acting Defense Secretary Robert Solisus said the troops will fly helicopters to assist Border Patrol agents and help in the construction of barriers.

00:16:59.000 The Pentagon is also going to provide military aircraft for DHS deportation flights for more than 5,000 detained migrants.

00:17:06.000 No more of this.

00:17:07.000 We hold people and then we just release them into the interior.

00:17:09.000 That is done.

00:17:12.000 Stilises said in a statement, quote, this is just the beginning.

00:17:15.000 In short order, he said, the department will develop and execute additional missions in cooperation with DHS, federal agencies, and state partners to address the full range of threats outlined by the president at our nation's border.

00:17:26.000 By the way, the department is preparing right now to send 2,000 more Marines to the border to help enforce the border.

00:17:34.000 And President Trump, his team, they take this very, very seriously.

00:17:37.000 Not only that, The DOJ has been instructed that if local officials actually obstruct the working of immigration law, they should be prosecuted.

00:17:46.000 In the memo, Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Booth, Trump's former defense attorney, outlines, quote, interim decisions and policy changes pending the confirmation of Trump's U.S. Attorney General nominee, Pam Bondi.

00:17:58.000 He said that changes are necessary as an initial response regarding three of the most serious threats facing the American people.

00:18:06.000 Those threats are cartels, He said the Justice Department must work to eradicate those threats, and that means they're not going to simply allow local authorities to obstruct what it is they are doing.

00:18:35.000 Bove reiterated in this memo to the DOJ, quote, federal law prohibits state and local actors from resisting, obstructing, and otherwise failing to comply with lawful immigration-related commands.

00:18:45.000 So, if you are a local politician who is seeking to impede the workings of ICE or Border Patrol, prepare to find yourself in the dock.

00:18:54.000 That is what the DOJ is saying, and they are correct to do so, because if the plenary power of the federal government includes immigration, that means you can't obstruct it.

00:19:02.000 That's not the way that it works.

00:19:05.000 Perhaps the most hilarious headline of the day comes courtesy of the New York Times, and it is on this specific issue.

00:19:13.000 The New York Times has an article today all about the drug cartels.

00:19:17.000 And what the New York Times is saying is that it is bad for the Trump administration to label them terrorists.

00:19:23.000 Here's the headline from the New York Times.

00:19:24.000 Ready?

00:19:25.000 Quote, how labeling cartels terrorists could hurt the U.S. economy.

00:19:29.000 Are you out of your mind?

00:19:31.000 Are you out of your mind?

00:19:32.000 How it will hurt the U.S. economy?

00:19:34.000 I'm sorry.

00:19:35.000 They're killing people on both sides of the border, en masse.

00:19:38.000 They basically control the Mexican government.

00:19:40.000 They've been shipping tons of fentanyl over the border, which is killing hundreds of thousands of Americans.

00:19:45.000 And it might hurt the economy to call them terrorists?

00:19:48.000 The New York Times suggests that it could be bad because it could force some American companies to forego doing business in Mexico rather than risk American sanctions.

00:19:58.000 Why?

00:19:58.000 Well, because Mexico is basically terror run.

00:20:00.000 So their claim is...

00:20:02.000 That if the drug cartels are working with the Mexican government, that people can't work with the Mexican government anymore, or the federal government's going to prosecute them.

00:20:09.000 Well, maybe the solution for that for the Mexican government would be to disentangle themselves from the drug cartels.

00:20:14.000 Perhaps that would be the solution.

00:20:16.000 According to the New York Times, these criminal organizations are now embedded in a wide swath of the legal economy, from avocado farming to the country's billion-dollar tourism industry, making it hard to be absolutely sure American companies are isolated from cartel activities.

00:20:30.000 Now, again, I highly doubt the Trump administration is looking to shut down hotels in Mexico because they're part-owned by cartel members.

00:20:37.000 However, it seems to me the more pressing issue is that the entire border on the Mexican side and parts of the American side is controlled by Mexican drug cartels.

00:20:47.000 Now, meanwhile, by the way, Secretary of State Rubio, who was unanimously confirmed by the Senate on Monday night and sworn in on Tuesday morning, he is pausing refugee operations and he is ramping up visa vetting, according to Fox News.

00:21:01.000 Immediately after becoming the next secretary, Rubio directed the Department of State to halt refugee resettlement programs.

00:21:07.000 Instead, he ordered the department to implement enhanced vetting for visa applications from dangerous regions.

00:21:12.000 Which, by the way, seems like it would be a really good idea because it turns out that a refugee from Morocco, or at least a person from Morocco, who's on an American visa, went on a stabbing attack in Tel Aviv the other day.

00:21:24.000 The person got into Israel by first going to the United States, having a visa, And then traveling to Israel to stab four people, including one with a serious condition with a knife wound to the neck.

00:21:39.000 The attacker was shot dead at that point.

00:21:43.000 Again, this person basically got in because this person was in America first.

00:21:49.000 So yes, we should be vetting everybody who's claiming refugee status getting into the United States at this point. 0.95

00:21:54.000 There are just too many people with quote-unquote refugee status, and we have no idea who they are, and they may have terrorist affiliations.

00:21:59.000 It turns out that enforcing immigration law is actually just commonsensical.

00:22:03.000 Well, you know what else is common sense?

00:24:16.000 Meanwhile, Tom Homan.

00:24:17.000 The border czar and bulldog.

00:24:19.000 He said that in the first 48 hours, there are about 700-plus total apprehensions.

00:24:25.000 Look, the greatest president in my lifetime, he's back.

00:24:28.000 Because in two days, the last 24 hours, total apprehensions on the southwest border, 766. Compare that to the 10,000 to 12,000 Biden had at one time.

00:24:39.000 CBP, CBP-1 releases, zero.

00:24:43.000 CHNV, Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela releases.

00:24:47.000 Zero.

00:24:47.000 Total of 766 across the entire southwest border.

00:24:51.000 That is a game changer.

00:24:53.000 Well, I mean, he ain't wrong.

00:24:55.000 He also pointed out, hey guys, a secure border saves lives.

00:24:58.000 This is all such common sense.

00:25:00.000 Trump ran on common sense, his inaugural speech, focused on common sense.

00:25:04.000 This is just common sense.

00:25:06.000 I want to save lives.

00:25:08.000 Secure border saves lives.

00:25:10.000 And when President Trump locks this border down...

00:25:12.000 Less women and children be sex trafficking in this country.

00:25:15.000 Less aliens would die making that journey.

00:25:17.000 Under President Biden, we've had a record number of people die across that border.

00:25:21.000 600% increase in sex trafficking.

00:25:23.000 And look at the quarter million young Americans dead from fentanyl.

00:25:26.000 We secured a border, the fentanyl deficit decreased.

00:25:29.000 Sex trafficking had decreased.

00:25:31.000 Deaths on the border decreased.

00:25:32.000 So it's just about saving lives.

00:25:34.000 Secure borders, save lives.

00:25:35.000 And plus...

00:25:36.000 Look, you can't have strong national security if you don't have border security.

00:25:40.000 That's right.

00:25:40.000 We need to know who's coming in, what's coming in, where it's coming in, why it's coming in.

00:25:43.000 So again, President Trump, game changer, already made a significant difference on that border.

00:25:48.000 This country's already safer because of President Trump.

00:25:51.000 He ain't wrong about that either.

00:25:53.000 He, by the way, did shock CNN's Dana Bash because she asked him whether people who are non-criminals might be deported.

00:25:59.000 And he's like, well, I mean, they crossed the border illegally.

00:26:01.000 So the answer is yes.

00:26:03.000 What is happening as we speak is limited to those with criminal records?

00:26:09.000 That's a target of this operation, but like I said many times, in places like Sanctuary Cities where we can't arrest a bad person in the jail, we would like to have access to the jail to arrest a criminal alien in the safety and security of a county jail, which is safer for the community, safer for the officers, and safer for the alien.

00:26:25.000 But when you release a public safety threat of a sanctuary jail and won't give us access to them, that means we've got to go to the neighborhood and find them.

00:26:32.000 And we will find him.

00:26:34.000 But when we find him, he may be with others.

00:26:37.000 Others that don't have a criminal conviction are in the country illegally.

00:26:40.000 They will be arrested too.

00:26:42.000 Because we're not going to strike.

00:26:43.000 And this is the difference between the last administration and this administration.

00:26:46.000 ISIS is going to enforce the immigration law. 0.98

00:26:48.000 There's nothing in the INA, the Immigration Nationality Act, that says you've got to be convicted of a serious crime in order to be removed from this country.

00:26:54.000 So there's going to be more collateral arrests in sanctuary cities because they forced us to go in the community and find the guy we're looking for.

00:27:01.000 Let me just make sure that I understand what you're saying, because at first you said that the first targets are those with criminal records, but you are also saying that those who are undocumented in the U.S. also who don't have criminal records, people who are working in their communities, maybe even have spouses who are American citizens, they could be swept up with ICE today as well?

00:27:27.000 What I'm telling you is when we go find our priority target, which is a criminal alien, If he's with others in the United States illegally, we're going to take enforcement action against him.

00:27:35.000 We're going to enforce the immigration law.

00:27:37.000 Again, this is such common sense, and the fact that she is shocked by this is really the shocking thing.

00:27:43.000 Well, meanwhile, President Trump isn't just moving on immigration.

00:27:44.000 He is also moving on infrastructure.

00:27:47.000 So, a couple days ago, President Trump announced that there would be a massive investment in AI databases.

00:27:52.000 This is the infrastructure that is necessary in order to power AI. So, AI relies on crunching extraordinary amounts of data.

00:28:00.000 When ChatGPT takes in what you are asking it, and then it pumps out an answer, it is analyzing pretty much everything it can get its hands on.

00:28:08.000 We're talking about essentially the entire publicly available internet.

00:28:12.000 And then it is predicting the most likely response that you're looking for based on your question.

00:28:17.000 It's doing so via keywords, essentially.

00:28:21.000 That's a very, very short and dirty version of how AI works.

00:28:25.000 What that means is that the amount of data that goes into one of those answers is huge.

00:28:29.000 The amount of energy that it takes to crunch that data is huge.

00:28:31.000 AI databases require a few things.

00:28:34.000 They require, one, a country or a place that has an energy surplus because they're very, very energy intensive.

00:28:39.000 Two, they require actual AI know-how.

00:28:42.000 You can't just build it in a place where people don't know about it.

00:28:45.000 Not a random person can build an AI database or any database for that matter.

00:28:50.000 And three, They do require climate that is somewhat friendly because they expend extraordinary amounts of heat.

00:28:55.000 And while the United States has been generally a little bit underpowered in this area, China is leading the way when it comes to the development of a lot of these AI capabilities.

00:29:05.000 The United States must lead the way because these capabilities are going to be scarily effective, not only doing things like curing diseases, but also doing everything from booking your vacations for you to helping you do the most basic tasks in your life.

00:29:20.000 The power of AI is, I think, if anything, underrated at this point.

00:29:25.000 It is a sea change.

00:29:26.000 It is the equivalent of how the internet changed the world, but more so.

00:29:31.000 And honestly, the best thing you can probably say about AI in terms of an analogy is the Industrial Revolution, just in the terms of the massive, society-wide changes that are about to occur that most people aren't thinking about.

00:29:44.000 And that requires, again, enormous expenditure of resources to keep that sort of stuff at home.

00:29:49.000 Here's President Trump announcing, A $500 billion investment in precisely this sort of infrastructure.

00:29:56.000 Together, these world-leading technology giants are announcing the formation of Stargate.

00:30:03.000 So put that name down in your books because I think you're going to hear a lot about it in the future.

00:30:09.000 A new American company that will invest $500 billion at least in AI infrastructure in the United States and very...

00:30:18.000 Very quickly, moving very rapidly, creating over 100,000 American jobs almost immediately.

00:30:25.000 Again, that's a big announcement.

00:30:27.000 Again, because AI is going to do it now.

00:30:29.000 It doesn't mean AI isn't scary.

00:30:30.000 It doesn't mean that there aren't going to be some severe dislocations because of changes in the market.

00:30:35.000 This always happens when a new technology comes about, particularly one that effectively makes everyone very smart.

00:30:39.000 That's what AI does.

00:30:41.000 If the Industrial Revolution made it so that everyone, weak and strong, had the capacity to do extraordinary amounts of work because of machines, Well, the AI revolution makes everybody a lot smarter, a lot smarter.

00:30:52.000 Like, you don't have to be a genius anymore.

00:30:54.000 In order to process a lot of data and get it out, you just type it into ChatGPT.

00:30:58.000 Okay, so here is OpenAI CEO Sam Altman talking about how AI can impact medicine at this event.

00:31:05.000 How will AI help us with the fight against the various problems, diseases, etc.?

00:31:13.000 These guys can maybe share more about some of the work they're doing there.

00:31:16.000 I think they'll jointly be some of the leaders about driving progress here.

00:31:20.000 But I believe that as this technology progresses, we will see diseases get cured at an unprecedented rate.

00:31:26.000 We will be amazed at how quickly we're curing this cancer and that one and heart disease.

00:31:31.000 And what this will do for the ability to deliver very high-quality healthcare, the costs, but really to cure the diseases at a rapid, rapid rate, I think will be...

00:31:44.000 Yeah, well, Elon Musk somehow kind of got crossways of the president on this announcement.

00:31:49.000 He put out a tweet.

00:31:54.000 So Elon Musk responded, About $10 billion available to them, but that's not $500 billion available to them.

00:32:18.000 SoftBank has well under $10 billion secured.

00:32:20.000 I have that on good authority.

00:32:23.000 Now, what is the real reason that Elon is doing that?

00:32:25.000 Well, Elon has a beef with Sam Altman.

00:32:27.000 Elon was one of the original investors in OpenAI when OpenAI was basically a 501c3, but like $100 million into it.

00:32:33.000 And then it turned into a for-profit company.

00:32:35.000 And so Elon is still kind of ticked about all of that.

00:32:38.000 However, Well, an administration can handle an awful lot of back and forth.

00:32:44.000 An administration, particularly President Trump, tends to operate on a sort of chaos theory inside his own administration.

00:32:49.000 The best answers come out of conflict of voices inside his administration.

00:32:54.000 Obviously, undermining big initiatives of the administration is not something that's going to be looked on well.

00:33:00.000 Elon Musk is always going to be a freewheeling guy.

00:33:02.000 I am not sure that he's best served by tweets like that one after the president makes a gigantic...

00:33:08.000 Powerful announcement.

00:33:09.000 And that is, in fact, a very powerful announcement.

00:33:11.000 It's gonna be responsible, apparently, for the creation of perhaps 100,000 jobs.

00:33:16.000 And it is not a public sector thing.

00:33:18.000 It is a private sector thing.

00:33:19.000 What Donald Trump is doing right now is a very good thing.

00:33:21.000 He is saying, look, you have predictable rules that encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.

00:33:25.000 In that environment, people are going to invest lots of money, and they should.

00:33:29.000 And he's right, and that's good.

00:33:31.000 Meanwhile, President Trump is apparently considering a 10% tariff.

00:33:39.000 He said we're talking about a tariff of 10% on China based on the fact they're sending fentanyl to Mexico and Canada.

00:33:45.000 He said probably February 1st is the date that we're looking at.

00:33:48.000 Apparently, he spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping over the phone about fentanyl and trade.

00:33:52.000 The Chinese side's readout said Xi called for cooperation and said that the country's economic ties were mutually beneficial.

00:33:59.000 China's Vice Premier, Deng Zhuzhang, Now, again, I think that a lot of this is President Trump ratcheting up to ratchet down.

00:34:15.000 I think President Trump really likes using the threat of economic sanctions, tariffs, in order to get what he wants.

00:34:21.000 Perhaps one of the things that he wants is the sale of TikTok, for example, from China to a non-Chinese interest.

00:34:28.000 Whatever it is, President Trump is not shy about the use of tariffs and China is indeed a geopolitical opponent.

00:34:35.000 It is kind of amazing to me how Justin Trudeau of Canada, who again is being threatened with a 25% tariff.

00:34:43.000 He says, well, if you do that, then Trump is going to need Russia, China, Venezuela.

00:34:47.000 If you enforce a 25% tariff on Canada, why don't you just ask Trump what he actually wants?

00:34:52.000 Like, really, why don't you just ask him, Justin?

00:34:54.000 You could do that.

00:34:56.000 President Trump said that he wants to usher in a golden age for the United States.

00:35:01.000 That will require more steel and aluminum, more critical minerals, more reliable and affordable energy, more of everything to run the U.S. economy full steam ahead.

00:35:14.000 Canada has all those resources.

00:35:18.000 The alternative for them would be more resources from Russia, China or Venezuela.

00:35:26.000 is a safe, secure, and reliable partner in an uncertain world.

00:35:32.000 Now again, I don't disagree that it's better for the United States to trade with Canada than Russia or China.

00:35:38.000 I just want to know why he doesn't ask Trump what he wants and then try to cut a deal, because Trump obviously is willing to use leverage.

00:35:45.000 That, by the way, is also true with regard to Russia.

00:35:48.000 We'll get to that in a moment first.

00:36:23.000 When it comes to leverage, President Trump isn't just leveraging Canada.

00:36:25.000 He is, in fact, leveraging the Russians.

00:36:27.000 So President Trump has now threatened sanctions and tariffs on Russia if Vladimir Putin does not reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.

00:36:33.000 I said this is what he was going to do.

00:36:35.000 Remember?

00:36:35.000 Remember, I told you he wasn't just going to cut off aid to Ukraine and hand the country over to the Russians the way that Democrats and the media kept saying.

00:36:43.000 He put out a statement on Truth Social that if the government, quote, "cannot make a deal and soon, I have no other choice but to put high levels of taxes, tariffs and sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States and various other participating countries." This is, again, he wants the end of the war.

00:37:00.000 He said, I love the Russian people.

00:37:01.000 I always had a very good relationship with President Putin.

00:37:03.000 But this is a pressure tactic.

00:37:06.000 It is clear that President Trump is not simply going to unilaterally let his foot off the gas when it comes to sanctions on Vladimir Putin.

00:37:14.000 And it is also clear that Trump has no interest in allowing Russia to simply walk through Ukraine.

00:37:20.000 I'm going to do Russia, whose economy is failing, and President Putin a very big favor.

00:37:24.000 Settle now and stop this ridiculous war.

00:37:27.000 It's only going to get worse. 0.97

00:37:30.000 Correct.

00:37:31.000 This is the proper response from President Trump.

00:37:34.000 That is absolutely right.

00:37:36.000 Meanwhile, speaking of peace through strength, Pete Hegseth has been moved out of committee.

00:37:41.000 Apparently, there are three Republican senators who plan not to vote for him, meaning J.D. Vance will break the tie and he'll be confirmed.

00:37:46.000 It's not a huge shock.

00:37:47.000 Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski.

00:37:49.000 The most moderate left-leaning members of the Republican caucus, they were always going to be no's probably on Pete Hegseth.

00:37:57.000 Mitch McConnell is apparently also a no on Pete Hegseth, which I don't understand.

00:38:01.000 He's totally wrong.

00:38:02.000 Maybe he's on his way out and this is kind of a twist in the nose of President Trump.

00:38:06.000 In any case, Susan Collins told reporters on Wednesday she found troubling information had been admitted from Pete Hegseth's FBI background check.

00:38:13.000 And this seems like such a cheap shot.

00:38:15.000 It seems like a massive cheap shot.

00:38:17.000 And listen, I understand.

00:38:18.000 Not all Republicans are going to vote the same way on everything.

00:38:21.000 Susan Collins is in Maine.

00:38:22.000 Maine is, at best, a purple state.

00:38:24.000 It really is a blue state with a couple purple leanings.

00:38:28.000 With that said, the reports that are being discussed right now about Hegseth focus in on his supposed treatment of his ex-wife.

00:38:38.000 Senators received an affidavit containing new allegations against Hegseth, according to NBC News.

00:38:45.000 The receipt of the affidavit came after Senate Armed Services Committee staffers were in contact with Hegseth's former sister-in-law for several days.

00:38:51.000 That former sister-in-law submitted the affidavit, and apparently she was asked to detail what she knew of instances of abuse or threats of abuse perpetrated against any other person and, quote, mistreatment of a spouse, former spouse, or other members of his family, among other requests.

00:39:07.000 Jack Reed, the senator from Rhode Island, he said, quote, as I said for months, the reports of Hegseth's history of alleged sexual assault Alcohol abuse and public misconduct necessitate an exhaustive background investigation.

00:39:18.000 Danielle apparently describes in the affidavit allegations of volatile and threatening conduct by Hegseth and made his second wife, Samantha Hegseth, fear for her safety.

00:39:26.000 Among her allegations are that Samantha hid in a closet once from Hegseth and that she developed escape plans for use if she felt she needed to get away from Hegseth that would be activated with a code word and that she did once put the escape plans into action.

00:39:37.000 There is only one problem.

00:39:39.000 Samantha Hegseth denied it.

00:39:41.000 The ex-wife denied it, and the entire media ran with it, and so did Democrats.

00:39:44.000 Quote, First and foremost, I have not and will not comment on my marriage to beat Hexeth.

00:39:49.000 I do not have representatives speaking on my behalf, nor have I ever asked anyone to share or speak about the details of my marriage on my behalf, whether it be a reporter, a committee member, a transition team member, etc.

00:39:58.000 I do not believe your information to be accurate.

00:40:01.000 I have CC'd my lawyer.

00:40:03.000 Quote, There was no physical abuse in my marriage.

00:40:06.000 This is the only further statement I will make to you.

00:40:08.000 I have to let you know that I am not speaking and will not speak on my marriage to Pete.

00:40:11.000 Please respect this decision. 0.96

00:40:13.000 So if this is the basis for Susan Collins opposing, that is ridiculous and insane.

00:40:19.000 In any case, these sorts of spurious allegations, unsupportable by the actual available evidence, have become stock in trade for Democrats from Clarence Thomas to Brett Kavanaugh, and it is not going to kill nominations any longer.

00:40:33.000 Not on the right side of the aisle.

00:40:34.000 Coming up, we'll get into actual supported I'm speaking, of course, about the former second gentleman, Doug Emhoff.
