The Ben Shapiro Show - Very Tremendous Law And Order | Ep. 1058

00:00:00.000 President Trump deploys the Feds to quash violence in America's major cities as Democrats protest.

00:00:05.000 Joe Biden says Trump is the first racist president ever.

00:00:08.000 And leftists chide parents for wanting to educate their kids during a pandemic.

00:00:11.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:00:11.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.

00:00:21.000 Protect your online privacy today at expressvpn.com slash Ben.

00:00:26.000 Well, there are two kind of different narratives that are emerging in the United States.

00:00:30.000 I'm not talking about just ideological narratives emerging in the United States.

00:00:33.000 I mean two actual views of the facts.

00:00:35.000 One happens to be factual.

00:00:37.000 The other is the view that you are getting from the media.

00:00:39.000 And I say this advisedly because I'm not one of those people who goes around saying, the media are the enemy of the people.

00:00:43.000 I don't like that sort of phraseology.

00:00:45.000 But I have never seen the media gaslight quite as hard as they have for the past four months in this country.

00:00:50.000 It's just, it's beyond insane.

00:00:52.000 Now, the media has always driven perverse narratives on the basis of no fact.

00:00:57.000 And they do this on a fairly regular basis.

00:00:59.000 But they still have some tenuous grasp of reality.

00:01:02.000 It is rare to see the fact so blatantly staring you in the face and the media telling you that what you are seeing is not real.

00:01:09.000 The media telling you, who are you going to believe?

00:01:11.000 Us or your own eyes?

00:01:13.000 Over the past several months, we have heard from the media that Andrew Cuomo is an incredible governor of New York as tens of thousands of people died.

00:01:19.000 We have heard from the media that violent looting and rioting was not happening.

00:01:23.000 That these were quote-unquote mostly peaceful protests.

00:01:26.000 And that the protesters and the rioters and looters were completely separate.

00:01:29.000 But if you say rioting and looting are bad, you're actually attacking the protesters.

00:01:32.000 We have heard the media claim that things are fantastic in Seattle's Chop Chaz.

00:01:37.000 We heard that it was paradisiacal.

00:01:38.000 It was wonderful out there.

00:01:40.000 How dare you try to shut down this street fair?

00:01:44.000 We have heard that enormous protests of literally millions of people in the streets in the middle of a pandemic was not a public health threat directly after hearing that anti-lockdown protests were a public health threat.

00:01:56.000 I mean, I've truly never seen anything like it.

00:01:57.000 The media, over the past several months, and again, they've botched stories before.

00:02:01.000 They've sort of done this on an individual level.

00:02:03.000 They did it with Kavanaugh, for example.

00:02:05.000 They did it with the Covington Catholic kids.

00:02:06.000 But the extraordinary extent to which nearly every story that is being reported right now is not in any way reflective of the underlying facts, it's pure insanity.

00:02:16.000 The most obvious example of this is what is happening in Portland right now.

00:02:20.000 So, in Portland, things are really bad.

00:02:22.000 They are now in day 56 of rolling rioting.

00:02:26.000 Okay, and rioting is what is happening in Portland.

00:02:28.000 Okay, it is not a peaceful place.

00:02:30.000 It is not a wonderful place.

00:02:31.000 You can look at the footage.

00:02:33.000 Can you look at the Portland unrest footage?

00:02:35.000 It's clip 5.

00:02:36.000 And you can see what exactly is going on in Portland.

00:02:38.000 People are firing fireworks, tear gas has been deployed.

00:02:42.000 Protesters are breaking down barriers.

00:02:45.000 They're approaching the cops wearing bicycle helmets and tear gas masks.

00:02:50.000 And they're using umbrellas and wood barriers to shield themselves from the cops so that people can't see them.

00:02:57.000 They're vandalizing the federal courthouse.

00:02:58.000 Okay, does this look like a peaceful protest to you?

00:03:02.000 This looks like a riot.

00:03:03.000 Because that's what it is.

00:03:04.000 It is a riot. 0.99

00:03:04.000 And just because you have some moron in the back of the crowd holding up a group of balloons does not mean that this is happy-dappy-do time. 0.99

00:03:11.000 And if you could see the footage, what you would see is graffiti all over the place. 0.97

00:03:15.000 You can see that the federal building has been completely defaced.

00:03:20.000 And people have been injured in Portland as well.

00:03:22.000 Okay, overnight, Portland rioters set fire to the courthouse as well.

00:03:27.000 That was another thing that they did.

00:03:28.000 There's footage of them doing so, the Portland rioters.

00:03:32.000 The police yesterday, right?

00:03:33.000 The police who are run by Mayor Ted Wheeler over there.

00:03:35.000 The police, there's footage of them warning the crowd that they're gonna have to use tear gas if they don't disperse.

00:03:42.000 And this is being portrayed as like a big nothing.

00:03:45.000 This is all nuts, okay?

00:03:46.000 This is purely, purely nuts.

00:03:48.000 It's so bad that you end up with these two-minute hate struggle sessions.

00:03:51.000 So I will say, this is part of this I enjoy, is the politicians who are allowing this stuff to go on, then being torn up by the protesters.

00:03:59.000 I really am enjoying this.

00:04:01.000 So this happened in Seattle, where Mayor Jenny Durkan basically allowed Chop Chaz to go on for weeks at a time, and people were getting shot there.

00:04:08.000 And she's like, it's no big deal, it's a street fair, guys.

00:04:10.000 And then they went to her house, and then she's like, shut this thing down right now!

00:04:13.000 It was pretty great when the mayor of Minneapolis, who had allowed half his city to be burned down, went and did penance in front of protesters and was screamed at for not being warm enough toward defunding the police.

00:04:25.000 And so they had like a full on struggle session, like they were going to hang a sign around his neck and the whole thing over in the center of Minneapolis.

00:04:30.000 So that was fun.

00:04:31.000 Well, yesterday, Mayor Ted Wheeler decided that he was up for his two minutes hate on Oregon public broadcasting.

00:04:36.000 So the mayor shows up in downtown Portland with the protesters and the rioters.

00:04:43.000 And he proceeds to be called a fascist, which is just spectacular stuff. 0.53

00:04:47.000 It is great stuff.

00:04:47.000 It truly is.

00:04:49.000 More of this, please.

00:04:50.000 It turns out Two Minute Tate is eminently watchable.

00:04:52.000 Here's Mayor Ted Wheeler being ripped up and down by the protesters he is allowing to terrify and terrorize his city.

00:05:02.000 Ted Wheeler!

00:05:03.000 Hey! 0.99

00:05:03.000 Ted Wheeler! Ted Wheeler! Ted Wheeler! 0.99

00:05:07.000 Let him go! 1.00

00:05:09.000 Let him go! 1.00

00:05:11.000 He's a f****** fascist! 1.00

00:05:13.000 Yeah, no, he doesn't deserve to be called a f****** fascist! 1.00

00:05:16.000 They're calling Ted Wheeler a fascist. 1.00

00:05:19.000 I'm pretty sure that shutting down the entire city of Portland because you just feel like burning crap because you're a terrible person, that's a little more fascist than Ted Wheeler allowing you to do it. 0.99

00:05:29.000 Although, he's an enabler here. 0.99

00:05:32.000 He's the Vichy France here. 0.90

00:05:34.000 It's pretty incredible.

00:05:36.000 But Ted Wheeler's the bad guy.

00:05:37.000 Remember, the revolution always hits its own first.

00:05:39.000 That's the way this works.

00:05:40.000 Revolutions rarely take on the strongest folks.

00:05:43.000 Instead, they really like taking on the weakest.

00:05:45.000 And Ted Wheeler is the weakest.

00:05:47.000 The mayor of Minneapolis was the weakest.

00:05:49.000 Jenny Durkan was the weakest.

00:05:51.000 Okay, so all this stuff is going on, right?

00:05:53.000 The burning down portions of Portland.

00:05:56.000 And they are screaming at the mayor that he's a fascist while he forces the police to stand there and do nothing.

00:06:02.000 And then we're being told by the media that literally nothing is happening.

00:06:04.000 Everything is good there.

00:06:05.000 This is all peaceful and wonderful.

00:06:07.000 Nothing bad is happening.

00:06:09.000 A congressperson from Portland, his name is Ed Blumenauer.

00:06:12.000 He actually testified in the well of the house yesterday.

00:06:15.000 This bizarro world looking dude.

00:06:17.000 This guy, Earl Blumenauer, who looks like, as one of my producers said yesterday, a refugee from a Pee Wee Herman outtake.

00:06:24.000 He's standing there with his large purple polka dotted bow tie and a lapel pin of a green bicycle.

00:06:31.000 I kid you not, like some people wear lapel pins of the American flag because they pledge allegiance to the American flag.

00:06:35.000 Earl Blumenauer pledges allegiance to a bicycle.

00:06:39.000 He looks like Bill Nye the Science Guy on a bad acid trip.

00:06:42.000 Anyway, Earl Blumenauer announced yesterday there is no chaos in Portland.

00:06:47.000 Poof.

00:06:48.000 It never really happened.

00:06:48.000 It's gone.

00:06:50.000 This is just gaslighting, okay?

00:06:51.000 We've seen the footage.

00:06:52.000 I just showed you the footage.

00:06:53.000 Everything's fine, guys.

00:06:55.000 Why are you making a big deal out of this?

00:06:56.000 Just because they're trying to burn down the courthouse.

00:06:58.000 Whatever.

00:06:59.000 That's just... Portland's a kooky place, man.

00:07:01.000 All we do there is we play hippie guitar, and we have vinyl records, and we burn things.

00:07:05.000 It's Portland.

00:07:05.000 I mean, come on.

00:07:08.000 Portland, Oregon is not out of control.

00:07:11.000 To be sure, there are some people who have strong feelings, and there are some who have done things that are inappropriate and unlawful.

00:07:20.000 But that is the challenge of our local officials and our state officials, to manage it.

00:07:25.000 Not having somebody unwelcome Uninvited and unprepared coming in to take this difficult situation and make it worse.

00:07:36.000 It's all fake, guys.

00:07:37.000 And you know how it's fake? 0.95

00:07:38.000 You know it's fake because Trump's bad.

00:07:40.000 This is the basic narrative being driven by the Democrats and by the left. 0.99

00:07:44.000 Don't believe your lying eyes. 0.84

00:07:45.000 Believe us. 0.99

00:07:46.000 And the reason that you should believe us is because Trump is bad.

00:07:49.000 Seriously, that's the entire case.

00:07:50.000 You shouldn't believe the evidence in front of you.

00:07:52.000 You shouldn't believe the footage.

00:07:53.000 You shouldn't believe the pure, obvious facts that are right in front of your eyes because many of the people showing you those facts don't think Trump is the worst person in the world.

00:08:01.000 And we do think Trump is the worst person in the world.

00:08:03.000 So, if you believe Trump is the worst person in the world, you will believe us when we say that the protesters and looters and rioters in Portland are entirely peaceful. 1.00

00:08:11.000 And the media mimic this crap. 1.00

00:08:12.000 They mimic it up and down. 1.00

00:08:14.000 It's truly amazing.

00:08:15.000 It's truly amazing.

00:08:16.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second.

00:08:17.000 First, let us talk about the fact that you don't really want to be going to an auto parts store right now.

00:08:22.000 In fact, you don't really want to go to an auto parts store ever, because the fact is that you wait in line, then finally you get up to the front, and they're asking you very specific questions about your car that you may not know off the top of your head.

00:08:31.000 And then they sell you a generic part that may not be right for your car, or they have to wait it, they have to order it and then wait for it to come in from the manufacturer.

00:08:39.000 Why don't you just go and do it direct with RockAuto.com?

00:08:41.000 RockAuto.com always offers the lowest prices possible rather than changing prices based on what the market will bear like airlines do.

00:08:47.000 Why would you spend up to twice as much for the same parts?

00:08:50.000 Like, for example, let's say that you were one of the people who happened to need a Delphi FG-1456 fuel pump assembly for a 2005 to 2010 Honda Odyssey.

00:08:57.000 Well, at the store, that's going to cost you like $354.

00:08:59.000 At RockAuto, that's $217.

00:09:03.000 RockAuto.com.

00:09:04.000 It's a family business serving auto parts customers online for 20 years.

00:09:07.000 Go to RockAuto.com right now.

00:09:08.000 Shop for auto and body parts from hundreds of manufacturers.

00:09:11.000 Best of all, prices at RockAuto.com always reliably low and the same for professionals and do-it-yourselfers.

00:09:17.000 You don't want to spend too much money.

00:09:18.000 Instead, why not save money and go to a great business?

00:09:20.000 RockAuto.com right now.

00:09:21.000 See all the parts available for your car or truck.

00:09:23.000 Red Shapiro in there.

00:09:24.000 How did you hear about us, Box?

00:09:25.000 So they know that we sent you.

00:09:27.000 That's RockAuto.com.

00:09:28.000 Go check them out.

00:09:29.000 So the media are just repeating this sort of propaganda.

00:09:35.000 Rolling Stone, which of course is a far-left magazine masquerading as a... Remember when Rolling Stone used to do music?

00:09:40.000 Wasn't that funny?

00:09:41.000 Yeah, they don't do that anymore.

00:09:42.000 Well, now Tim Dickinson has a piece called, That's what they are.

00:09:48.000 They're all just mothers.

00:09:50.000 They're just mothers. 1.00

00:09:51.000 They're kind, wonderful mothers.

00:09:53.000 And we know they're mothers because they say so.

00:09:56.000 And here's how Rolling Stone reports what's happening in Portland.

00:09:58.000 You ready?

00:09:59.000 As nightly protests have dominated downtown Portland for nearly two months, both local officials and the Trump administration have attempted to cast the largely peaceful demonstrators as ruffians, with suspect political values hell-bent on destruction.

00:10:11.000 Well, first of all, this phrase, largely peaceful, mostly peaceful, as I've said before, this is just the most glorious phrase ever.

00:10:19.000 It's just fantastic.

00:10:20.000 Because most of human history, like by days counted, most of human history has been peaceful.

00:10:25.000 Sure, there have been, you know, these periods where hundreds of millions of people died, but aside from that, it's mostly peaceful.

00:10:30.000 Like Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, their marriage, it seems mostly peaceful.

00:10:33.000 Like for most hours of the day, she wasn't crapping in his bed and he wasn't tossing bottles at her.

00:10:37.000 I mean, there were the occasions where she was crapping in his bed and he was tossing bottles at her.

00:10:41.000 But, you know, like as a percentage of actual time, it wasn't like 75% of the time.

00:10:47.000 It was like 10% of the time.

00:10:49.000 It was a mostly successful, mostly peaceful marriage.

00:10:52.000 Mostly peaceful protesters.

00:10:54.000 Again, this is language that would never, ever, ever be used if they disagreed with the message of the protesters. 0.53

00:10:59.000 When it was the Tea Party, they claimed that the Tea Party were a bunch of racist terrorists.

00:11:03.000 They could not come up with any evidence of racism at a Tea Party protest or violence at a Tea Party protest. 0.99

00:11:08.000 The Tea Partiers were picking up their own garbage and throwing it in the garbage can. 0.78

00:11:11.000 And they were like, these guys are out of control. 0.96

00:11:13.000 They're out of control.

00:11:15.000 Example today, Dave Weigel of the Washington Post.

00:11:18.000 So Weigel, he put out a tweet saying it was like 10 minutes ago that open carry protesters without masks rallied at state capitals and mostly Democratic governors just let them do it until they went away.

00:11:28.000 He said this in response to somebody saying, why the hell are Democratic politicians allowing these riots to go on?

00:11:33.000 Yes, because open carry protesters without masks are not the same as people trying to burn down the courthouse.

00:11:40.000 I mean, can anyone provide evidence of the open carry protesters trying to occupy entire swaths of cities and bar the police and vandalizing entire downtown areas? 0.64

00:11:48.000 Because I'm old enough to remember when we shut down the entire damned county of Los Angeles for a week on end at 6 p.m.

00:11:53.000 so rioters and looters could run roughshod through Melrose Boulevard. 0.93

00:11:56.000 I'm old enough to remember that because I am more than four weeks old.

00:11:59.000 My baby is old enough to remember it, and she was born at the beginning of March.

00:12:04.000 Hey, this is it.

00:12:05.000 If you feel like you're going crazy right now, you're not.

00:12:07.000 The media have gone crazy.

00:12:08.000 You are the only sane one.

00:12:10.000 You are the only sane one.

00:12:11.000 This is nuts.

00:12:13.000 Okay?

00:12:14.000 But it's not relegated only to the coverage of Portland.

00:12:17.000 Bill de Blasio is out there claiming that the spiking murder rates are not his fault in his city.

00:12:22.000 It's all just, everything's fine, guys.

00:12:24.000 He painted something on the street, guys.

00:12:26.000 He painted Black Lives Matter in giant yellow letters on the street.

00:12:30.000 Problem solved.

00:12:32.000 What's to blame for the spiking murder rates?

00:12:33.000 It's not Bill de Blasio crapping all over the police each and every day.

00:12:36.000 It's not Bill de Blasio defunding entire new classes of cadets, which is what happened in New York City.

00:12:41.000 It's not Bill de Blasio getting rid of the plainclothes unit.

00:12:44.000 It's not Bill de Blasio basically encouraging cops to leave the force.

00:12:48.000 Bill de Blasio says COVID is to blame for the spiking murder rates.

00:12:51.000 It's COVID, which is weird because the murder rates were not spiking at the beginning of COVID.

00:12:55.000 Like at all.

00:12:56.000 The murder rates started to spike as soon as he started giving leeway to the rioters and looters and cutting the cops.

00:13:01.000 That's when the murder rates started to spike.

00:13:03.000 Here is giant weirdo, groundhog murderer, Frankenstein's monster, Bill de Blasio, talking about how all this murder stuff, you know, you're worried about getting rid of the cops.

00:13:10.000 That's in your imagination. 0.92

00:13:12.000 It's COVID that is the problem.

00:13:13.000 It's COVID that's the problem.

00:13:16.000 We've had a very tough few months, no doubt, and it is directly related to the coronavirus, the dislocation it's caused in our society, the fact that our court system is not functioning yet.

00:13:26.000 So many factors that have been absolutely aberrant for just the last four or five months.

00:13:31.000 But we will beat it back, because we've done that for a quarter century in this city.

00:13:34.000 And Joe, the key point is, we will do it.

00:13:37.000 We, the people of New York City, we need the people's involvement to make the city safer, the NYPD.

00:13:43.000 And if we ever need any assistance, that's what localities do.

00:13:47.000 When they feel they need assistance, then wait for that request from a locality that knows what's right for its people.

00:13:54.000 So again, you are just you're hearing from people who are attempting to lie to you and gaslight you.

00:13:59.000 Okay, so violence has increased in cities around the United States.

00:14:04.000 And so President Trump finally said enough is enough.

00:14:06.000 And he deployed the DHS, Department of Homeland Security, to protect federal property.

00:14:10.000 Okay, there is statutory authority for the president to deploy force to Portland to protect federal property.

00:14:15.000 Furthermore, There are federal laws on the books.

00:14:17.000 Federal agents exist in every major city in the United States.

00:14:20.000 They're there largely to enforce laws that have been passed and that are on the books about gang violence.

00:14:25.000 Not every crime that happens is in fact a federal crime.

00:14:28.000 If somebody murders somebody in a city, that's not a federal crime.

00:14:30.000 It's a state crime.

00:14:32.000 The feds don't really have jurisdiction there.

00:14:33.000 Where the feds do have jurisdiction is there are a lot of laws on the books that talk about gang activity specifically.

00:14:39.000 The Feds very often help local law enforcement investigating gang activity that involves, for example, criminal conspiracy violations.

00:14:47.000 That is where the Feds come in. 1.00

00:14:49.000 And there are federal investigators on the ground.

00:14:50.000 In fact, you've seen them in virtually every TV show.

00:14:53.000 Every TV show, there's some sort of murder, and suddenly the Feds are there.

00:14:56.000 The feds have been in cities for a very long time, but apparently President Trump staffing up in these areas to try and lower the murder rate in these areas where the mayors refuse to actually do anything to protect their own citizenry.

00:15:06.000 It's very, very, very bad.

00:15:08.000 We're going to get to President Trump finally implementing some level of law and order and Democrats taking the other side.

00:15:14.000 Which in a normal time would be just political death for them.

00:15:18.000 But they are counting on American hatred of Trump so strongly.

00:15:21.000 They are counting on the media hatred of Trump so strongly that they are hoping that you will ignore the evidence of major cities collapsing right in front of your eyes and be angry at Trump for trying to fix the problem.

00:17:01.000 Okay, so.

00:17:02.000 President Trump is finally stepping in.

00:17:05.000 He announced yesterday that he'd be sending the feds to Chicago to restore public safety.

00:17:08.000 Now again, he is using laws that already exist.

00:17:10.000 He is not passing new laws.

00:17:11.000 He is not moving above and beyond the law.

00:17:14.000 The laws he has been using in Portland are about protecting federal property.

00:17:17.000 Under federal law, the DHS is emboldened, empowered, to protect federal property, and yes, they can arrest people who are not directly next to the federal property.

00:17:26.000 So if they suspect that there is someone trying to burn down the courthouse, and four blocks away is the person, they are allowed to go arrest that person.

00:17:32.000 Okay, then, there are federal laws on the books with regard to, for example, Cracking down on gang activity. He's been on the books for a very very long time. Trump said listen. I'm tired of this I'm tired of watching our major cities burn. I'm tired of watching 15 people shot every other day in Chicago. I'm sending the feds Today I am announcing that the Department of Justice will immediately surge federal law enforcement to the city of Chicago the FBI ATF DEA

00:18:03.000 Marshal Service, and Homeland Security will together be sending hundreds of skilled law enforcement officers to Chicago to help drive down violent crime.

00:18:14.000 And murderers and violent criminals are breaking a wide range of federal laws.

00:18:19.000 We have that.

00:18:19.000 It's as wide as it can be.

00:18:22.000 We will find them, arrest them, and prosecute them.

00:18:25.000 They will be in jail for many years to come.

00:18:28.000 That is a good thing.

00:18:29.000 If you're a law-abiding citizen of these cities, I do not know why you would be upset about this.

00:18:33.000 I really don't.

00:18:34.000 If you are wildly exceeding federal authority, that'd be one thing.

00:18:36.000 He is not.

00:18:37.000 William Barr made this clear, the Attorney General.

00:18:39.000 He said, what we're talking about are normal operations to fight crime, right?

00:18:43.000 These have long been under federal purview to pretend that they are not.

00:18:45.000 If you don't like it, change the law.

00:18:47.000 But the executive branch does have the power to enforce the law.

00:18:51.000 We started using our strong federal laws Uh, that permit us to target those who use guns to kill others and those that are involved in gang activity.

00:19:06.000 Our approach was to set up anti-violent crime task forces in the cities to enforce federal law.

00:19:12.000 It's important to stress that the operations we're talking about are the standard anti-crime fighting activities we have been carrying out around the country for decades.

00:19:24.000 He says we'll be adding federal agents to already existing task force.

00:19:27.000 He says these are street agents and investigators who will be working to solve murders and take down violent gangs.

00:19:32.000 He says this is different than the operations and tactical teams we use to defend against riots and mob violence.

00:19:36.000 He's pointing out these are two different laws that are being invoked.

00:19:38.000 He says we'll continue to confront mob violence, but the operations we're talking about today are very different.

00:19:43.000 They are classic crime fighting.

00:19:45.000 So the administration has named this Operation Legend, not like, let's just be a legend and do it, man, but it's named after an actual four-year-old boy whose name is Legend Taliferro, who was shot and killed while he slept in Kansas City shortly before July 4th weekend.

00:19:58.000 Legend's family came to the actual unveiling of this policy.

00:20:02.000 They were joined by the family of Jacques Vigil, a 55-year-old grandmother and daycare worker from Albuquerque who was murdered in her driveway during an attempted carjacking.

00:20:11.000 He pointed out that they were also recognizing the tragic murder of a 14-year-old named Bernardo Jones Jr.

00:20:15.000 in Chicago, who was playing basketball in a park when he was senselessly killed by gunshots that wounded four and killed three others.

00:20:21.000 He says, to carry out Operation Legend, federal law enforcement agencies will be committing additional resources to these cities, including resources from the FBI, the DEA, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, U.S.

00:20:30.000 Marshals, and the Department of Homeland Security.

00:20:33.000 He says, to date, we've sent over 200 federal agents to the Kansas City.

00:20:35.000 They unveiled this thing earlier this month.

00:20:38.000 They're just ratcheting it up now.

00:20:39.000 We are directing a comparable amount to augment Chicago's existing violent crime initiatives.

00:20:45.000 We are providing more than 35 agents to Albuquerque.

00:20:48.000 They're also providing financial assistance to state and local law enforcement in these particular areas, and they've made $3.5 million in federal funding available to the city of Chicago to compensate local law enforcement for overtime equipment and other expenses.

00:20:59.000 Okay, so this is not a violation of law, nor is it really an extension of anything that the federal government has not done before.

00:21:04.000 The media, however, are treating this as absolute... This is fascism.

00:21:08.000 Trump fascism was trending yesterday on Twitter.

00:21:11.000 Okay, so it's not fascism when you take over an entire American city and threaten to burn everything to the ground and then scream at your mayor when he comes to talk to you about stopping it.

00:21:18.000 That's not fascism.

00:21:19.000 Fascism is when the federal government uses existing authority to shut down rioting, looting, and murder in its cities, apparently.

00:21:26.000 And the media are just wonderful at this.

00:21:27.000 So the media literally asked Trump if the reason he's doing this is to distract from COVID.

00:21:32.000 As though what you're seeing on the streets is not happening.

00:21:35.000 The only reason Trump would do this is to distract from COVID. 1.00

00:21:37.000 By the way, which would be the most idiotic strategy ever. 1.00

00:21:39.000 Is anyone distracted from COVID? 0.99

00:21:41.000 Who do you know who's distracted from COVID right now?

00:21:43.000 Here is President Trump answering this question.

00:21:46.000 When you look at Chicago and you look at the job, Mayor Lightfoot sent me a letter yesterday.

00:21:52.000 And I think in their own way, they want us to go in.

00:21:55.000 There'll be a time when they're going to want us to go in full blast.

00:21:57.000 But right now, we're sending extra people to help.

00:22:00.000 We're arresting a lot of people that have been very bad.

00:22:03.000 As far as the coronavirus, as you say, I think we've done some amazing things.

00:22:09.000 And I think you'll probably see that if you compare our statistics to other countries. 0.99

00:22:15.000 The question itself is idiotic. 0.97

00:22:16.000 Okay, in just a second we're going to get to the left's response to President Trump sending in the feds to help local law enforcement to enforce federal law already on the books. 0.99

00:22:25.000 Suffice it to say, they're perfectly willing to allow people to run roughshod through their cities so long as it means owning the cons.

00:22:31.000 Owning the cons by burning down your own cities is definitely a take.

00:22:34.000 But that's what we're seeing right now.

00:22:35.000 First, I want to talk to you about your internet freedom.

00:22:37.000 So the fact is there are a lot of people after your data.

00:22:39.000 Big tech, they love your data.

00:22:40.000 They love to use that data.

00:22:41.000 They love to make money off that data.

00:22:43.000 Also, there are hackers out there and they want your data so they can literally steal things from you.

00:22:47.000 Why would you leave your data out there?

00:22:48.000 Instead, try ExpressVPN.

00:22:50.000 ExpressVPN...

00:22:52.000 Safely anonymizes and masks your data by using a secure VPN server.

00:22:59.000 Plus, ExpressVPN also encrypts 100% of your data to protect you from hackers and internet bad guys.

00:23:04.000 Now I'm always worried about my internet security, so I won't go online without activating my ExpressVPN.

00:23:09.000 It doesn't slow down your internet connection.

00:23:11.000 It is very easy to install.

00:23:12.000 It's very easy to make it run.

00:23:13.000 It just runs in the background.

00:23:15.000 You never think about it.

00:23:15.000 It's just protecting you each and every day.

00:23:17.000 So, why give tech companies or hackers a free license to grab your data?

00:23:29.000 Who doesn't like to save money, right?

00:23:30.000 Again, that's expressvpn.com slash ben.

00:23:33.000 Expressvpn.com slash ben to protect your data today.

00:23:38.000 No reason to leave that data out there unprotected.

00:23:40.000 That'd be a foolish move.

00:23:41.000 Instead, protect yourself with expressvpn.com slash ben. 0.90

00:23:44.000 Expressvpn.com slash ben.

00:23:47.000 Okay, so the reaction to this is exactly what you would think it is.

00:23:51.000 It is mayors who are Democrats basically saying, I would rather that my city continue to be a violent hellhole than allow the feds to actually do what they are empowered to do under federal law. 0.96

00:23:59.000 So Bill de Blasio, giant weirdo, Frankenstein's monster, six foot nine, groundhog murderer, the son of Sam of groundhogs.

00:24:06.000 Bill de Blasio, he actually said, I would sue to stop Trump from intervening in our violent crime problem. 0.96

00:24:11.000 We must, we must allow the violent crime to continue.

00:24:15.000 This president blusters and bluffs and says he's going to do things and they never materialize on a regular basis.

00:24:21.000 So first, we should not overrate his statements.

00:24:24.000 They are so often not true.

00:24:27.000 Second, if he tried to do it, it would only create more problems.

00:24:31.000 It would backfire.

00:24:32.000 It wouldn't make us safer.

00:24:33.000 And we would immediately take action in court to stop it.

00:24:36.000 From my point of view, this would be yet another example of illegal and unconstitutional actions by the president.

00:24:43.000 And we have often had to confront him in court, and we usually win.

00:24:48.000 So he is going to sue Trump to stop him from actually implementing the law.

00:24:51.000 Meanwhile, Lori Lightfoot, who's an awful, awful mayor of Chicago and who has basically been allowing shootings to take place in her city willy-nilly. 1.00

00:24:59.000 She said yesterday the real reason that Trump is doing this is because he's targeting women, which is a hell of a take.

00:25:04.000 He's sending federal troops.

00:25:06.000 They're not really troops.

00:25:06.000 He's sending federal law enforcement to Portland, which is run by a white man.

00:25:11.000 He's talking about sending federal law enforcement to places like Kansas City.

00:25:16.000 I'm not aware that the mayor of Kansas City is a woman. 0.98

00:25:18.000 Maybe it is, but I'm pretty sure that that is not the reason why the president of the United States is sending somebody. 0.65

00:25:25.000 The mayor of Kansas City is a man named Quentin Lucas, a black man.

00:25:29.000 Okay, so she says this is really about Trump targeting women. 1.00

00:25:32.000 So apparently the fact that she's a garbage mayor and her city is turning into a hellhole, Trump is only sending the feds because he doesn't like women or some such nonsense. 1.00

00:25:41.000 This is so tiresome. 1.00

00:25:42.000 It's so tiresome. 1.00

00:25:42.000 What do you think people in Chicago who are getting shot at every weekend have to say about their idiot mayor who thinks the reason the feds are coming in is because Trump is mean to ladies? 1.00

00:25:50.000 The president has been on a campaign now for some time against Democratic mayors across the country. 0.98

00:25:58.000 Whether it's me, whether it's Keisha Lance Bottoms in Atlanta, whether it's Muriel Bowser in Washington, D.C., whether it's Jenny Durkan in Seattle.

00:26:07.000 Do you see a common theme here?

00:26:09.000 The president is trying to divert attention from his failed leadership on COVID-19.

00:26:17.000 Okay, um, really?

00:26:19.000 That's what's going on here?

00:26:20.000 And again, I love that she specifically picks out only the cities where there's female leadership. 1.00

00:26:23.000 She ignores the fact that Trump hates Bill de Blasio.

00:26:26.000 She ignores the fact that Trump really doesn't like Ted Wheeler.

00:26:29.000 There are a lot of people Trump doesn't like who ain't the ladies.

00:26:32.000 But, what sort of, what a cheap trick.

00:26:34.000 Meanwhile, Jay Johnson, the former Homeland Security Secretary, he's provocative.

00:26:37.000 He's provocative to send federal agents into cities to, you know, protect federal property.

00:26:42.000 Provocative.

00:26:43.000 Yeah, we should do exactly what Jed Johnson did when he was the Department of Homeland Security head.

00:26:47.000 We should let Ferguson burn to the ground.

00:26:49.000 Good idea, Jed.

00:26:51.000 A surge like this would probably be unnecessarily provocative and actually make matters worse.

00:26:57.000 The militaristic presence on the streets of the United States in our cities During moments of high tension can actually make matters worse and be provocative.

00:27:07.000 There is legislation working its way through to limit the sale of Defense Department equipment to civilian law enforcement in our cities because it is provocative.

00:27:18.000 You see those images of people who used to work for me in camouflage who look like the military?

00:27:25.000 And it's provocative.

00:27:27.000 He keeps saying provocative, provocative.

00:27:30.000 The people who are apparently being provoked were trying to burn down the courthouse five seconds ago.

00:27:34.000 I feel like they were already provoked. 0.94

00:27:35.000 It's like the dumbass argument that you constantly hear from folks on the international left, where, you know, like the Israelis responding to Hamas bombing pizzerias. 0.96

00:27:44.000 It's provocative. 0.99

00:27:44.000 How dare they respond? 0.99

00:27:46.000 I'm pretty sure these folks were already provoked. 1.00

00:27:47.000 They're in the streets trying to burn down the damn courthouse. 0.98

00:27:50.000 You know, Michael Chertoff, who's the head of Homeland Security under President Bush, he said, well, maybe they're exceeding their authority. 0.99

00:27:57.000 He said, it's possible they're exceeding their authority.

00:27:59.000 Well, I mean, maybe is not the same as they are.

00:28:02.000 Why don't you explain how they're exceeding their authority?

00:28:07.000 You can protect federal property, but that doesn't mean it's an unlimited license to roam around the streets and pick up people based on some suspicion that maybe they're involved or going to be involved in something.

00:28:20.000 Roving around on the street and stopping people and taking them down strike me as going beyond that authority, and that's wholly apart from the Fourth Amendment issue.

00:28:32.000 because whatever the statutory thought is, we still have a constitution.

00:28:36.000 Okay, yes. And the Fourth Amendment has not been violated here. You are allowed to arrest people for committing felonies in public places without a warrant.

00:28:42.000 That is a that is a Supreme Court established doctrine.

00:28:44.000 That is a fact. And by the way, here is what the law says.

00:28:46.000 Word for word. 40 U.S.

00:28:48.000 Code Section 1315.

00:28:49.000 Law Enforcement Authority of Secretary of Homeland Security for Protection of Public Property.

00:28:54.000 The secretary may designate employees of the Department Department of Homeland Security, including employees transferred to the Department of the Office of the Federal Protective Services of the General Services Administration pursuant to the Homeland Security Act of 2002 as officers and agents for duty in connection with the protection of property owned or occupied by the federal government and persons on the property, including duty in areas outside the property to the extent necessary to protect the property and persons on the property.

00:29:22.000 party.

00:29:22.000 you While engaged in the performance of official duties, an officer or agent designated under this subsection may enforce federal laws and regulations for the protection of persons and property, carry firearms, make arrests without a warrant for any offense against the United States committed in the presence of an officer or agent, or for any felony cognizable under the laws of the United States if the officer or agent has reasonable grounds to believe that the person to be arrested has committed or is committing a felony.

00:29:48.000 Okay, I'm reading you the black letter law. 0.81

00:29:50.000 That is the actual law.

00:29:52.000 So don't give me that the agents in Portland are violating the law.

00:29:54.000 I just read you the law.

00:29:56.000 The law says they are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing.

00:29:59.000 So this ain't about...

00:30:00.000 Tyranny.

00:30:01.000 It's not about fascism.

00:30:02.000 It's about don't believe your own eyes.

00:30:04.000 Don't believe that the cities are burning and that President Trump is doing something about it because that might be a narrative in favor of President Trump. 1.00

00:30:09.000 This is how you end up with idiotic articles like this one from the New York Times. 1.00

00:30:12.000 Republicans pounce. 1.00

00:30:13.000 Pouncees pounce. 0.77

00:30:15.000 This is what they're constantly doing over at the New York Times. 0.99

00:30:17.000 When Democrats do something dumb, the story is never Democrats do something dumb. 0.99

00:30:21.000 The story is always the Republican response to the Democrats doing something dumb. 1.00

00:30:25.000 So the Democrats have decided to let their cities burn and turn into chaotic hellholes. 0.99

00:30:29.000 And the response of the media is, look at these evil right-wing media folks talking about it!

00:30:34.000 Headline from the New York Times.

00:30:35.000 First of all, in what way is that news?

00:30:36.000 amplify Trump's law and order campaign message.

00:30:39.000 First of all, in what ways that news?

00:30:41.000 And that headline is right wingers are right wing.

00:30:46.000 I'm confused.

00:30:46.000 How's that news?

00:30:47.000 Sub-headline.

00:30:48.000 Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and other conservative pundits have seized on the Portland protests as a pro-Trump rallying cry.

00:30:54.000 So much pouncing.

00:30:56.000 So much seizing.

00:30:57.000 Unbelievable.

00:30:58.000 Right-wing outlets and conservative media stars have seized on the weeks-long protests in Portland as a rallying cry for law and order, instructing their followers to fear for their safety and blaming Democratic leaders for failing to restore peace.

00:31:09.000 Oh man, the gaslighting is so strong.

00:31:11.000 Instructing their followers to fear for their safety?

00:31:13.000 Let me tell you something.

00:31:14.000 I don't think you have to tell people to fear for their safety.

00:31:17.000 I think people fear for their safety when they feel unsafe.

00:31:19.000 You know what made me feel unsafe?

00:31:20.000 In the city of Los Angeles? 0.98

00:31:21.000 When they shut down the entire damned county for a week to let marauders break into the footlocker down the street. 0.99

00:31:27.000 That made me feel a little unsafe. 1.00

00:31:28.000 I didn't need Rush to tell me to feel unsafe, you idiots. 1.00

00:31:32.000 It's just, it's incredible. 1.00

00:31:33.000 The gaslighting is beyond the pale.

00:31:36.000 Beyond the pale.

00:31:38.000 Speaking of which, you wanna talk about media bias?

00:31:39.000 Okay, best example of media bias today.

00:31:41.000 Remember that time when the New York Times ousted the editor of the op-ed page because they ran an editorial from Tom Cotton, an op-ed by Tom Cotton?

00:31:48.000 They ran a piece of full-blown Chinese propaganda today in the New York Times by a guy who works for the Chinese government.

00:31:56.000 The title of the piece was, My Relatives in Wuhan Survived, My Uncle in New York Did Not.

00:32:01.000 Because China is better than New York. 1.00

00:32:04.000 Okay, it's just a full piece of full-blown propaganda.

00:32:06.000 Where are the protests over the New York Times op-ed page?

00:32:09.000 Where are they?

00:32:10.000 The new editor of the New York Times op-ed page?

00:32:12.000 Why isn't that person being called to account for printing Chinese propaganda?

00:32:17.000 This guy's a propagandist on behalf of a regime that is currently shipping Uyghurs into concentration camps to be sterilized. 0.96

00:32:24.000 And that's okay.

00:32:25.000 That's fine, according to members of the New York Times woke staff.

00:32:30.000 Okay, in just a second, we're gonna move on to Joe Biden and COVID, because Joe Biden I gotta say, this presidential battle, it's not really a battle of wits.

00:32:40.000 I would say a lot of unarmed people in this battle of wits.

00:33:55.000 Not all programs available in all states.

00:33:57.000 Okay, in just a second, we're gonna get to Joe Biden, who continues his delusional campaign.

00:34:01.000 It doesn't mean he ain't gonna win, but dude is not with us and has not been with us for some time.

00:34:05.000 We'll get to that in just one moment.

00:34:07.000 First, My new book, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps.

00:34:10.000 It is on sale now.

00:34:11.000 It is a huge bestseller already, thanks to people like you.

00:34:14.000 If you haven't bought it yet, you should go buy it right now.

00:34:16.000 The book covers two different visions of America.

00:34:17.000 We are watching them play out in real time.

00:34:20.000 One vision says that America is an amazing place, rooted in a true philosophy of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

00:34:27.000 Rooted in a culture of entrepreneurship and tolerance.

00:34:29.000 Rooted in a history that attempted to fulfill the promises of the Declaration and increasingly has done so. 0.99

00:34:35.000 The other side says America sucks. 0.83

00:34:37.000 As would be Robin DiAngelo's White Fragility, the New York Times' 1619 Project, the rioters and looters in the streets. 0.98

00:34:42.000 The media who defend them.

00:34:43.000 Disintegrationists are using weapons like cancel culture to go after you and anybody who agrees with you. 1.00

00:34:49.000 My book discusses all of this and is really the antidote to it.

00:34:51.000 How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps.

00:34:53.000 It details how this disintegrationist worldview has gained so much cultural ground so quickly.

00:34:58.000 It offers what I think is a really important view of the culture at this point in our history. 0.80

00:35:01.000 And more importantly, it offers you the ammo to rebut the dumb arguments that are being made on behalf of tearing down the country.

00:35:07.000 You can pick it up on Amazon or at Barnes and Noble right now also.

00:35:11.000 Tomorrow, Friday, we'll be holding one of our vaunted Daily Wire Backstages, a socially distanced backstage.

00:35:18.000 Come join me and several other humans at 4 p.m.

00:35:20.000 Pacific to hear us lament the collapse of the Republic.

00:35:23.000 Also, go get a Reader's Pass over at dailywire.com.

00:35:26.000 Reader's Pass is great.

00:35:26.000 You get all sorts of good stuff.

00:35:27.000 So, join us.

00:35:28.000 Become part of the crew.

00:35:30.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.

00:35:33.000 Alrighty, so...

00:35:41.000 Meanwhile, the presidential campaign continues apace.

00:35:44.000 And let us just say that it feels as though there is some insufficiency in representing these particular positions.

00:35:50.000 So you have some pretty rich ideological strains in American public life being represented by the political right right now.

00:35:56.000 A strain of law and order, a strain that says that America was found in liberty, defending American history, defending American culture.

00:36:02.000 And the president When he gives speeches off teleprompter, does a good job of explicating that, right?

00:36:07.000 His Mount Rushmore speech, I thought was terrific and I said so.

00:36:10.000 The president also has a bad habit of going off the cuff about weird stuff that allows the media to focus in on it.

00:36:15.000 So today the president did another interview where he decided to do like a five minute riff on how tough the cognitive test he took was, that he aced.

00:36:23.000 And so he just kept saying over and over the five words that he was supposed to memorize.

00:36:27.000 It was not a great clip.

00:36:29.000 Not an ideal clip.

00:36:31.000 So they say, could you repeat that?

00:36:34.000 So I said, yeah.

00:36:36.000 So it's person, woman, man, camera, TV.

00:36:40.000 10 minutes, 15, 20 minutes later, they say, remember the first question?

00:36:44.000 Not the first, but the 10th question?

00:36:46.000 Give us that again.

00:36:47.000 Can you do that again?

00:36:48.000 And you go, person, woman, man, camera, TV.

00:36:54.000 If you get it in order, you get extra points.

00:36:58.000 They said nobody gets it in order.

00:36:59.000 It's actually not that easy.

00:37:00.000 But for me, it was easy.

00:37:02.000 Meanwhile, Joe Biden continues to be senile.

00:37:05.000 So, as I've said before, any presidential debate here will be Chewbacca versus the Swedish Chef from the Muppets.

00:37:11.000 That's what this will sound like.

00:37:17.000 It'll be just phenomenal.

00:37:20.000 On the one side, you have Captain, I passed a cognitive test that pretty much everybody who's not senile needs to pass.

00:37:25.000 And on the other side, you have Joe, I once got in a fight with a guy named Corn Pop Biden.

00:37:30.000 Yesterday, Joe Biden suggested that Trump was the first racist president ever.

00:37:35.000 Which, okay, first of all, Trump isn't a racist.

00:37:38.000 Second of all, if Joe Biden thinks that Trump, even if you thought Trump was a racist, if you think he was the first racist president ever, that's a hell of a, that's a hot take coming out there.

00:37:47.000 100 miles per hour from Joe Biden.

00:37:49.000 Here's Joe Biden coming out hot as his forehead begins to collapse into his nasal cavity.

00:37:55.000 Here's Joe Biden.

00:37:56.000 No city president has ever done this.

00:37:59.000 Never, never, never.

00:38:01.000 No Republican president has done this.

00:38:02.000 No Democratic president.

00:38:04.000 We have racists, and they've existed, and they've tried to get elected president.

00:38:08.000 He's the first one that has.

00:38:11.000 Is he, though?

00:38:12.000 I've got some questions.

00:38:14.000 If we're going to talk about people who thought that black folks were inferior, Every president in the early republic was, in fact, a slaveholder, with the exception of John Adams and John Quincy Adams, I believe.

00:38:27.000 Every single one, up to the end of the Andrew Jackson tenure, was a slaveholder. 0.76

00:38:32.000 So that seems like maybe, maybe not.

00:38:35.000 Maybe Trump's not the first race.

00:38:37.000 First of all, I don't understand how Joe Biden could possibly miss the fact that Woodrow Wilson was a brutal racist, considering that when Woodrow Wilson was a child, he massaged Joe Biden's leg hair.

00:38:46.000 That's how old Joe Biden is. 0.94

00:38:49.000 This is just pure crazy from Joe Biden, but Joe Biden is pure crazy at this point. 0.90

00:38:52.000 So we got a senile old man hiding in his basement, and then we got President Trump, the most volatile candidate in the history of the American Republic. 0.88

00:38:58.000 Things are going great here, guys.

00:38:59.000 Things are just excellent on every level.

00:39:01.000 Here's the thing.

00:39:02.000 Here's the thing.

00:39:03.000 There are underlying principles at stake here.

00:39:06.000 And that's what's easy to miss because presidential politics is so much a game of personality and so little about the actual policies represented by the candidates.

00:39:14.000 I talk about this and how to destroy America in three easy steps a little bit.

00:39:17.000 I point out that the various views of President Trump are based on a misunderstanding of how people see Trump.

00:39:24.000 On the right, the way that most conservatives see Trump is not as the God-send beautiful man, incredible at everything.

00:39:32.000 People on the right don't see Trump the way Trump sees Trump.

00:39:35.000 People on the right, largely, and I think almost entirely, see Trump as a vessel, a very, very flawed vessel for stopping the onrushing power of the radical left.

00:39:47.000 They see Trump as a bulwark.

00:39:48.000 That's what they see Trump as.

00:39:49.000 They see him as a person holding his finger in the dike to prevent what is inevitably going to come if Joe Biden is elected president.

00:39:55.000 And they're not wrong to see it this way.

00:39:57.000 Bernie Sanders came out yesterday.

00:39:58.000 He said that Biden will be the most progressive president since FDR.

00:40:01.000 He's bought into our entire agenda.

00:40:03.000 This is what Trump is trying to tell people.

00:40:05.000 Now the problem is that because Trump is not a laser focused campaigner, because he sort of grabs everything in the pantry and just throws it at people, because the president is the guy you wouldn't want to fight in high school.

00:40:16.000 He wasn't exactly a methodical fighter, but he was a guy who might just Randomly turn around and pick up a desk and hurl it at you.

00:40:26.000 But because he's like that, he's not methodical enough to make the case that Joe Biden is basically a weak, a weak-kneed character who's going to get shoved around by Bernie Sanders, which is the reality.

00:40:35.000 But Bernie knows the score here.

00:40:37.000 Here's Bernie explaining that basically Biden is going to be Bernie with a Biden mask on.

00:40:43.000 The reason I say that I think that Biden has a chance to be the most progressive president since FDR is that is exactly what Joe Biden said to me.

00:40:54.000 And I think he has said that publicly.

00:40:56.000 He understands the severity of this moment.

00:40:59.000 We have tens of millions of people who have lost their jobs, lost their health care, people who are hungry today.

00:41:05.000 We have an educational system which is lacking for low-income and working-class kids.

00:41:10.000 Climate change is out there.

00:41:12.000 Joe understands this is an existential threat to the planet.

00:41:15.000 Now that's the case that Trump is going to have to make.

00:41:17.000 Bernie is actually the spokesperson for the Joe Biden campaign.

00:41:19.000 It's going to be easier once Biden picks a VP.

00:41:21.000 Right now, Biden has been able to skate on the fact that people largely perceive him as non-threatening.

00:41:25.000 But the fact is there are some larger principles at stake in this election.

00:41:28.000 I think people feel that inevitably.

00:41:30.000 It's just that there are two very cracked glasses who are going up against each other right now on all of this.

00:41:35.000 Now, there's an easy way for Republicans to blow this thing before it even begins.

00:41:39.000 And that is the aid that has been put out there, this kind of firehose that's been turned on the American public since we've all been forced into lockdown over and over and over.

00:41:46.000 That firehose of aid, which in many ways was good, right? 0.99

00:41:49.000 It was necessary.

00:41:50.000 It was necessary because as I said, that is not a Keynesian stimulus program.

00:41:54.000 When somebody drives an F-150 truck through the front wall of your home, they owe you A reparation for that, right?

00:41:59.000 They owe you damages for that.

00:42:01.000 The federal and state governments have basically destroyed every business in the United States, or at least a huge percentage of businesses in the United States.

00:42:08.000 The very least they can do is at least fill in the gap for the moment.

00:42:11.000 Well, the crisis has not abated.

00:42:13.000 We are still seeing most businesses shut down across the United States, and the businesses that can run are being forced to run at half capacity.

00:42:20.000 So, the idea of extending aid beyond August 1 makes a lot of sense.

00:42:24.000 But Republicans are busy fighting over this thing, which makes no sense to me.

00:42:28.000 It is political malpractice.

00:42:30.000 According to the Washington Post, Senate Republicans struggled to finalize a $1 trillion coronavirus relief bill on Wednesday, confronting internal divisions and continued White House demands for a payroll tax cut most lawmakers oppose.

00:42:40.000 Now, I don't know why you would oppose the payroll tax cut.

00:42:42.000 I really don't.

00:42:44.000 Apparently, there are a lot of Republicans who are concerned that the Democrats are going to say they're raiding Social Security or something.

00:42:50.000 That's insanity.

00:42:51.000 No one cares about that right now.

00:42:53.000 Seriously, no one cares about that right now.

00:42:55.000 People want to make sure they have the money to pay the bills for the next few weeks, at the very, very least.

00:43:01.000 Nobody, just pass a bill, include the payroll tax cut.

00:43:04.000 Most Americans want the money back in their pocket.

00:43:05.000 By the way, I'm never expecting to see my Social Security money.

00:43:08.000 I'm 36 years old.

00:43:09.000 I'm never gonna see it.

00:43:09.000 It's gone.

00:43:10.000 Okay, the whole thing's a giant damned Ponzi scheme. 0.98

00:43:13.000 So give me back my money right now. 0.91

00:43:15.000 Now there's certain ways in which you can make this bill better than the old bill.

00:43:18.000 Like for example, you can in fact try to peg people's unemployment to what they were earning.

00:43:22.000 So as not to encourage people to stay out of the workforce.

00:43:24.000 One of the problems with the old bill is that it basically just threw money at people so that they were earning more money by being unemployed than by being employed.

00:43:31.000 You don't actually want that.

00:43:32.000 You want to encourage people to be employed where they can be employed.

00:43:34.000 But the extension of unemployment insurance to people in a time when the government is literally forcing them not to go to work makes a lot of sense.

00:43:42.000 If Republicans find a way to blow that, it's a mistake.

00:43:45.000 There are a lot of times when you say, listen, we can't spend this way.

00:43:48.000 This is not one of those times.

00:43:50.000 It isn't, because again, what we are talking about is the government has created the problem.

00:43:55.000 The government has created the problem.

00:43:57.000 At a certain point here, the government won't have created the problem.

00:43:59.000 Most states will have basically said to people, go act as responsibly as you want to, and we can start to get back to normal.

00:44:04.000 That is not where we are right now.

00:44:06.000 So while I admire Senator Ted Cruz, listen, I'm very friendly with Senator Cruz, when Cruz says things like, I'm not only a no, I'm a hell no on the idea of really extending more aid here, at least the way we're doing it, there is a certain level of urgency that outweighs the political concerns on spending at this very moment in time.

00:44:23.000 We still don't know the details of this initial proposal, but as it's written right now, I'm not only a no, I'm a hell no.

00:44:32.000 And sadly, I think this is envisioned as an opening gambit.

00:44:37.000 Everyone expects the Democrats to come back with a huge wish list of spending.

00:44:42.000 And this is the swamp in a feeding frenzy.

00:44:45.000 Everybody's lobbyist has their hand out saying, well, look, if you're spending trillions of dollars, I want to get some.

00:44:51.000 And it's not right.

00:44:52.000 OK, he's right that it's not right.

00:44:54.000 It's also the only way that something is going to get done right now.

00:44:56.000 I mean, let's just be real about this.

00:44:57.000 If it's a choice between filling in the hole in the front wall.

00:45:01.000 And doing it wrong, right?

00:45:03.000 Putting too much spackle on that wall and just leaving the hole in the wall.

00:45:07.000 Republicans don't have a major choice here.

00:45:09.000 Now, meanwhile, on the COVID front, President Trump, again, reiterated yesterday, he's been doing these COVID updates.

00:45:15.000 He reiterated yesterday that we should reopen the schools.

00:45:18.000 The evidence is very good that we should reopen the schools.

00:45:20.000 That doesn't mean that we can't take precautions, particularly on behalf of teachers.

00:45:23.000 But what the studies tend to show at this point is that kids are not getting this at as high a rate as adults.

00:45:29.000 That when kids do get it, they are not endangered.

00:45:31.000 That kids are not transmitting this as easily to adults.

00:45:33.000 That mostly the way coronavirus is being passed is by adults to other adults in air-conditioned closed areas for long periods of time.

00:45:39.000 And that is mainly how this thing is being passed.

00:45:41.000 There's a reason schools are open across Europe.

00:45:44.000 The evidence that kids are the chief vectors or even a major vector in passing this thing, the evidence is really not there.

00:45:50.000 Here was Trump yesterday pointing out that kids don't catch COVID as easily, which happens to be factually true.

00:45:54.000 The media, of course, very upset that he would mention this.

00:45:56.000 They don't transmit very easily, and a lot of people are saying they don't transmit.

00:46:00.000 And we're looking at that.

00:46:01.000 We're studying John very hard, that particular subject, that they don't bring it home with them.

00:46:07.000 Now, they don't catch it easily.

00:46:10.000 They don't bring it home easily.

00:46:11.000 And if they do catch it, they get better fast.

00:46:14.000 We're looking at that fact.

00:46:15.000 That is a factor.

00:46:15.000 And we're looking at that very strongly.

00:46:17.000 He is exactly right here.

00:46:18.000 He was ripped up and down for this.

00:46:19.000 He is exactly right.

00:46:20.000 Even Politico had to acknowledge he was exactly right.

00:46:22.000 Quote, Kids still appear to be less likely to catch and transmit the virus.

00:46:26.000 The leading explanation is that kids make fewer receptors, a protein called ACE2, making it more difficult for the virus to latch on, said Mark Schleiss, a pediatric infectious disease expert at the University of Minnesota Medical School.

00:46:37.000 As children move into adolescence and become adults, they make more of these receptors, theoretically increasing their chance of contracting the virus.

00:46:43.000 There are 317,711 reported COVID-19 cases in children and teenagers across the United States.

00:46:46.000 cases in children and teenagers across the United States.

00:46:46.000 There have been 77 reported deaths.

00:46:47.000 77.

00:46:50.000 There have been 77 reported deaths. 77 across a country of 330 million people. This is not a major risk to kids.

00:46:59.000 It is not a major risk to kids.

00:47:00.000 Not only is it not a major risk to kids, there's some fairly good science suggesting it's not a major risk to adults who come into contact with kids.

00:47:07.000 Mark Wohlhaus, a Senate, a leading epidemiologist and member of the government's SAGE committee over in Great Britain, told the London Times it may have been a mistake to close schools in March given the limited role children play in spreading the virus.

00:47:19.000 He said that children in the 5 to 15 age brackets are not passing this thing to teachers.

00:47:24.000 He said there has been no recorded case of a teacher catching the coronavirus from a pupil anywhere in the world.

00:47:29.000 Anywhere.

00:47:30.000 As of July 21st.

00:47:32.000 So what about Israel, right?

00:47:33.000 That was the big counter example.

00:47:35.000 Well, it is unclear that the students passed it to the teachers.

00:47:38.000 It's quite possible the teachers passed it to each other.

00:47:40.000 And then they passed it on to everybody else.

00:47:43.000 Kids are passing it to each other.

00:47:45.000 But that does not mean that kids are a chief vector of transmission.

00:47:48.000 There's a study from Iceland suggesting that kids are not passing it to adults.

00:47:53.000 According to the UK Spectator, a company called Decoded Genetics did a study in Iceland.

00:47:59.000 They tested something like 36,500 people.

00:48:02.000 The tests identified 1,801 cases of people suffering from the disease and 10 deaths.

00:48:07.000 Each case was carefully tracked and not a single case could the researchers find evidence of a child passing on the disease to their parents.

00:48:15.000 He suggested the fact that few children suffer any symptoms and are less likely to cough is an important factor.

00:48:20.000 We have studies from Australia that suggest exactly the same thing, that schools are not the key factors of transmission.

00:48:24.000 And there's an Australian study of how coronavirus spread in 15 schools.

00:48:29.000 They found a transmission rate of far less than 1%.

00:48:32.000 Naturally, the media have then suggested that if you want to reopen the schools, it's because you want to murder all of the teachers, which is just pure full-scale insanity.

00:48:39.000 But again, the media have been gaslighting you all along on so many of these issues.

00:48:43.000 That doesn't mean everything the media say is not true.

00:48:46.000 Because a lot of what the media say is true.

00:48:48.000 COVID-19 is more dangerous than the flu.

00:48:50.000 It is something you should be worried about.

00:48:52.000 Is it something you should be panicked about?

00:48:53.000 Are we at the same point that we were back in March?

00:48:56.000 Are tens of thousands of Americans about to die daily?

00:48:58.000 Are we even going to get back to New York rates of death on a daily level?

00:49:01.000 No.

00:49:01.000 Cases have already begun to wane in Texas, Florida, and Arizona.

00:49:05.000 The number one state for new cases is California, which never stopped the lockdown effectively.

00:49:10.000 So, examine the evidence before you buy into the media narrative.

00:49:14.000 Alrighty, we'll be out here a little bit later today with two additional hours of content.

00:49:17.000 In the meantime, go pick up a copy of my new book, How to Destroy America in 3 Easy Steps.

00:49:29.000 Be warned, it is rated at the very least PG-13.

00:49:31.000 There is some language.

00:49:34.000 So language and nudity, not actual physical nudity, just discussions of such.

00:49:38.000 You can go check that out over at Joe Rogan's podcast.

00:49:40.000 I think that you will enjoy it.
