Summary

Ben Shapiro says it's time to panic about the growing number of cases of Cooviridemic Viral Epstein-Barr Virus (Covir19) in the United States, and calls for a "self-quarantine" of the entire population above the age of 65. He also points out that there's not much reason to panic, and there's a lot of reason not to panic. Ben also points to the fact that 90% of Americans are now vaccinated against COVID, and 70% are vaccinated against it, and that's not even including all the people who didn't get vaccinated, who already had some level of immunity to the virus, and who have natural antibodies or T-cells or T cell memory which means that in all likelihood, 80% of the adult population in the U.S. is now at risk of getting infected with COVID-19. And yet, Democrats and the media are growing increasingly rabid about new anti-COVID measures even though Americans are adults, even though they are adults. Ben explains why this is a good thing, and why we should panic about it. The Ben Shapiro Show is brought to you by ExpressVPN.Make sure you protect your internet use, and protect your privacy. 00:00:00.000 Democrats and the media grow increasingly rabid about new anti-COVID measures, even though Americans are adults.
00:00:06.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:06.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:07.000 The Ben Shapiro Show is brought to you by ExpressVPN.
00:00:16.000 Make sure that you protect your internet use.
00:00:19.000 ExpressVPN.com slash Ben.
00:00:21.000 We'll get to all the news in just one moment.
00:00:23.000 Here is your reminder.
00:00:24.000 If you are using one of the giant cell phone providers, you are spending too much money.
00:00:28.000 This is why you should be using Pure Talk USA.
00:00:30.000 Take a look at that cell phone bill.
00:00:32.000 If you're with Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile, you're paying too much.
00:00:34.000 Pure Talk can save your family over $800 per year.
00:00:37.000 Yep, that same great coverage because Pure Talk is on the exact same network as one of the big three, but at a fraction of the price.
00:00:43.000 And switching is as easy as switching out your SIM card.
00:00:45.000 You can keep your phone, keep your number, or get huge discounts on the latest iPhones and Androids.
00:00:49.000 Plus, right now, Unlimited Talk tacks 6 gigs of data for just $30 a month.
00:00:53.000 And, if you go over on the data, they're not going to charge you for it.
00:00:56.000 There is a reason PeerTalk is the highest rated wireless company by Consumer Affairs, why they are the preferred wireless partner of AMAC.
00:01:02.000 Again, there is no reason you should be spending all that much money on your cell phone bill, given the fact that a lot of it is going to overhead and advertising.
00:01:08.000 Instead, you should just be using PeerTalk USA and getting exactly what you need, which is what they're going to give you.
00:01:13.000 From your cell phone, sell £250, save.
00:01:15.000 Ben Shapiro, save an additional 50% off your very first month.
00:01:18.000 That is £250.
00:01:19.000 Say Ben Shapiro to get started.
00:01:21.000 That is pound two five zero.
00:01:22.000 Say my name, Ben Shapiro, to get started with my friends over at Pure Talk USA.
00:01:26.000 Alrighty, so panic, panic.
00:01:28.000 Everybody panic.
00:01:29.000 We have to panic.
00:01:30.000 It's very important that we panic.
00:01:31.000 The headlines today betray nothing but panic.
00:01:34.000 Panic, panic everywhere.
00:01:35.000 Oh, okay.
00:01:37.000 Here's the thing.
00:01:38.000 There's not really a great reason to panic.
00:01:39.000 So the headline over at Drudge Report, which has basically just become the Huffington Post at this point, This is one of the things that has driven me nuts for the past several months.
00:01:47.000 Okay, is it really peak COVID now?
00:01:49.000 Because when I think of peak COVID, I think how many people are dying of COVID, right?
00:01:53.000 This is one of the things that has driven me nuts for the past several months.
00:01:56.000 Case counts don't matter.
00:01:58.000 Hospitalizations and deaths matter.
00:02:00.000 Even if hospitalizations get disconnected from deaths, hospitalizations don't matter as much as deaths do.
00:02:05.000 Okay, so it used to be that case counts were really, really closely tied to death rate.
00:02:10.000 Now, thanks to the vaccine, that has been wildly disconnected.
00:02:14.000 To the point where 90% of all Americans above the age of 65 are now vaccinated against COVID-19.
00:02:19.000 And 70% of all Americans above the age of 18 are vaccinated against COVID-19.
00:02:24.000 And that is not including all of the people who didn't get vaccinated, who already had COVID-19, who probably have natural antibodies or T cell memory.
00:02:32.000 Which means that in all likelihood, you are looking at an adult population in the United States above the age of 18, in excess of at least 75, maybe 80% of all of those people who Already, you have some level of immunity to COVID-19.
00:02:45.000 A very shrinking, diminishing percentage of the population is still highly vulnerable to COVID-19, which is why you have seen this wild disconnect between the case rates and the death rates.
00:02:54.000 We are also seeing an increasing disconnect between hospitalization rates and death rates.
00:02:59.000 Why?
00:02:59.000 Well, because at the very beginning of the pandemic, everybody who went to the hospital was 80 years old and had three preexisting conditions.
00:03:04.000 Now, a lot of the people who are going to the hospital are 25 and have one preexisting condition and are staying in the hospital for say five or six days and then getting out as opposed to staying for two weeks and then dying.
00:03:14.000 And you can see this in the death rates because who cares about getting diagnosed with COVID if you end up with a mild cold?
00:03:21.000 I'm seeing sheer panic out there today because, wow, Lindsey Graham announced that he had a breakthrough case of COVID and now he's going to self-quarantine for 10 days.
00:03:29.000 So, first of all, I'm not even sure that it's worth quarantining if you have COVID at this point.
00:03:37.000 Like, it's so widespread that I'm not even sure, like on a public health level, whether quarantining is actually going to slow the spread in any significant...
00:03:45.000 Like, I get it.
00:03:46.000 I get you're supposed to quarantine if you have COVID.
00:03:47.000 I do.
00:03:48.000 I understand.
00:03:48.000 I understand why they're telling you to do this, because there are so many unvaccinated people out there.
00:03:52.000 But if Lindsey Graham is dealing with a lot of vaccinated people every day, then really, this should not be, like, of massive concern.
00:03:58.000 In the same way that many people go to the office when they have a cold, many people go to the office when they are feeling mildly ill, If COVID is now degraded to the level of a mild illness, I don't understand why everybody on earth is supposed to be freaking out that Lindsey Graham got a breakthrough case of COVID that has resulted in the sniffles.
00:04:14.000 According to the Daily Wire, Lindsey Graham announced on Monday afternoon he tested positive for COVID-19 and started experiencing symptoms on Saturday.
00:04:20.000 He said he started having flu-like symptoms Saturday night.
00:04:22.000 He went to the doctor.
00:04:23.000 He said, I feel like I have a sinus infection.
00:04:25.000 At present, I have mild symptoms.
00:04:26.000 I will be quarantining for 10 days.
00:04:28.000 Okay, why is that even a public health story?
00:04:30.000 I don't understand.
00:04:31.000 Being diagnosed with basically very, very mild illness is not a public health emergency.
00:04:36.000 And so when you see people freaking out about case rates, it makes no sense.
00:04:41.000 It is just alarmism of the highest order.
00:04:44.000 So when you have CNBC reporting, CDC says seven-day average of daily U.S.
00:04:48.000 COVID cases surpassed peak seen last summer.
00:04:51.000 Yes, but last summer, we were seeing like way more death.
00:04:54.000 I'm looking at U.S.
00:04:55.000 COVID death rates right now.
00:04:57.000 Okay, the seven-day rolling average, according to the New York Times, remains at 362, which is basically where it was about a month ago.
00:05:05.000 If you want to look at the height of the pandemic, or even if you want to look last summer at the height of the pandemic last summer, you were looking at seven day rolling averages that were at least twice what you are seeing right now in terms of death rates.
00:05:16.000 Okay, so the sort of insane panic that is being trotted out there, it really is wild.
00:05:21.000 And by the way, there is some countervailing data to suggest that perhaps the daily average in COVID cases might be going down, actually.
00:05:28.000 According to CNBC itself, U.S.
00:05:30.000 COVID cases based on a seven-day moving average reached 72,790 on Friday, according to data compiled by the CDC.
00:05:37.000 That's higher than the peak in average daily cases seen last summer, when the country was reporting about 68,700 new cases per day.
00:05:43.000 The daily average in COVID cases, however, has since dropped, falling to 68,326 new cases per day on Saturday and 63,250 new cases per day on Sunday, according to the agency.
00:05:54.000 Now, there are some data from Johns Hopkins that suggest the opposite.
00:05:58.000 They show a continued increase in the seven-day average to nearly 80,000 new cases per day as of Sunday.
00:06:02.000 But again, case rates don't matter.
00:06:04.000 By the way, you know who's saying case rates don't matter anymore?
00:06:06.000 The Biden administration.
00:06:07.000 The Biden administration called up CNN and they said, why are you reporting the case numbers as opposed to the hospitalization and death numbers?
00:06:13.000 Precisely.
00:06:14.000 Precisely.
00:06:15.000 That's what we should be reporting.
00:06:17.000 Again, the kind of focus in on how dumb Americans are and how terrible we all are and the unvaccinated, they're all going to die.
00:06:25.000 70 plus percent of Americans are now overtly vaccinated above the age of 18.
00:06:30.000 Many more have already gotten natural immunity through having COVID.
00:06:34.000 90% of all people in the 65 plus age group are vaccinated.
00:06:37.000 That is a massive success story if anybody had the brains to notice it.
00:06:41.000 And you know what's going to happen with the Delta variant?
00:06:43.000 It is going to spike and then it is going to wane.
00:06:45.000 And you know why I say that's going to happen?
00:06:46.000 Because it has happened in all the countries.
00:06:49.000 It is happening everywhere.
00:06:50.000 It happened in the UK.
00:06:51.000 It happened in the Netherlands.
00:06:53.000 And yet the panic is just outsized, right?
00:06:56.000 Everybody panics.
00:06:57.000 So Leanna Nguyen, who just is on TV every day because she gets to promote panic, she said to Yahoo News, quote, the single biggest mistake the Biden administration made during this entire pandemic response, and I would argue in the entire Biden presidency, was back in May when the CDC said that vaccinated people can take off their mask but did not have proof of vaccination attached to it.
00:07:16.000 As a result, people understood the pandemic to be over them.
00:07:19.000 The unvaccinated began behaving like they were vaccinated.
00:07:22.000 Um, first of all, this is so utterly and wildly not related to reality.
00:07:27.000 The unvaccinated largely were always acting as though the pandemic was over.
00:07:30.000 That's why they were unvaccinated.
00:07:32.000 It wasn't like the unvaccinated waited for Joe Biden to say, vaccinated, you can unmask.
00:07:36.000 And they went, hey, now I can unmask too.
00:07:39.000 This has been Leanna Nguyen's bugaboo for a long time here.
00:07:42.000 She thinks that mask mandates are the be-all end-all.
00:07:44.000 As we will explore, mask mandates are in fact not the be-all end-all.
00:07:47.000 Mask mandates have been wildly ineffective by the available data that we have.
00:07:50.000 That doesn't mean that all masking is ineffective.
00:07:52.000 It means mask mandates pushed top-down by the government have been extremely ineffective.
00:07:58.000 Hey, she says, what did we see?
00:07:59.000 We saw exactly what I and many public health experts predicted at the time.
00:08:02.000 The honor code did not work.
00:08:03.000 Surges have happened because of unvaccinated individuals.
00:08:06.000 Now with the Delta variant, restrictions are coming back, except nobody's listening anymore.
00:08:10.000 Okay, but that's not, people weren't listening in the first place.
00:08:13.000 Like, does she know anyone who's unvaccinated?
00:08:15.000 Seriously, like, has Leanna Nguyen talked to anyone who's unvaccinated?
00:08:20.000 Has she spent any time in the red states that she likes to crap all over?
00:08:23.000 I have serious doubts because that's not how people were behaving in the first place.
00:08:27.000 People who are unvaccinated are significantly less worried about the virus than people who are vaccinated.
00:08:32.000 Unmasking the vaccinated had zero impact on unmasking the unvaccinated.
00:08:38.000 This is just madness.
00:08:39.000 And she says, President Biden absolutely declared a victory too soon.
00:08:42.000 Right.
00:08:42.000 Victory.
00:08:43.000 There will be no more victory.
00:08:44.000 And Biden himself has now drunk from this.
00:08:46.000 Well, the only rationale, politically, this is unbelievably stupid.
00:08:50.000 Politically, what Joe Biden and Biden administration are doing right now is incredibly dumb because all they have to do is wait about three weeks and then Delta will drop.
00:08:59.000 I'm just telling you right now.
00:09:01.000 This is not just me saying this.
00:09:02.000 Marty McCarry of Johns Hopkins University is saying this.
00:09:04.000 Scott Gottlieb from the FDA is saying this.
00:09:07.000 Pretty much all the scientists agree.
00:09:08.000 Looking at the UK, which had a wave that looked very much like this one, and the Netherlands, which had a wave that looked very much like this one, there will be a drop in terms of the daily case rates in the United States.
00:09:18.000 All Joe Biden has to do is say, go get vaccinated.
00:09:21.000 Like, this is a very easy message.
00:09:22.000 If you're vaccinated, you're pretty much safe from the virus.
00:09:25.000 If you're unvaccinated, Most, by all available data, the best chance is that you will get somewhere between mildly and moderately ill.
00:09:32.000 A small percentage of you will get severely ill and an even smaller percentage of you will die, but it's a larger percentage than if you got vaccinated.
00:09:38.000 So you probably should get vaccinated, right?
00:09:40.000 That is the case for getting vaccinated.
00:09:41.000 Now, you're an adult, go live your life.
00:09:44.000 And if you get COVID because you didn't get vaccinated, And if you get a serious case of COVID, it's your decision.
00:09:50.000 You're an adult.
00:09:50.000 We're relying on you to make your own decisions now.
00:09:53.000 This would be very easy for Joe Biden to do, and then it's off his plate.
00:09:55.000 I mean, just politically speaking, first of all, that would be a better public health message, but put aside the public health messaging of it.
00:10:02.000 It would get it off his plate politically because then it would be on individual Americans to decide whether or not they wanted to protect themselves.
00:10:09.000 Okay, but Joe Biden can't do that because the unspoken goal of the entire Democratic Party and the entire media for a year has been zero COVID.
00:10:16.000 Zero COVID is never going to happen.
00:10:19.000 And the reason that Democrats and the media bought into zero COVID is because it gave them ultimate control over your life.
00:10:24.000 If they set the goal at zero COVID, and zero COVID is never going to happen, but in order to achieve the utopia of zero COVID, they get to maintain control.
00:10:32.000 That is a feature, not a bug.
00:10:34.000 That is a good thing.
00:10:35.000 More eviction moratoria.
00:10:36.000 The CDC today, by the way, issued guidance that allowed Joe Biden the excuse of continuing to expel migrants who are crossing the southern border illegally.
00:10:45.000 There is a rule that was put in place by the Trump administration that allowed for quick expulsion of illegal immigrants who tested positive for COVID.
00:10:51.000 The CDC came in, the Biden administration planned to throw that out.
00:10:54.000 The CDC came in and they trumped it.
00:10:56.000 The CDC is a bureaucratic organization.
00:10:58.000 They don't have plenary power over immigration, but Now they do, because the magic of public health emergencies, like any other emergency, is it gives inordinate power to small groups of unelected bureaucrats.
00:11:08.000 Democrats are very, very happy about this.
00:11:11.000 So the emergency mentality will continue until morale improves.
00:11:16.000 That is the basic strategy here.
00:11:17.000 And Joe Biden apparently is all in on it.
00:11:19.000 This is so dumb politically.
00:11:20.000 Here is Joe Biden saying, get ready for more restrictions.
00:11:22.000 Should Americans expect more guidelines coming up, more restrictions because of COVID?
00:11:30.000 In all probability.
00:11:31.000 By the way, we had a good day yesterday.
00:11:34.000 Almost a million people got vaccinated.
00:11:37.000 About half a million of those people for the first time.
00:11:39.000 I'm for the second shot.
00:11:41.000 And so I'm hopeful that people are beginning to realize how essential it is.
00:11:46.000 Okay, but I also really enjoy how the public health officials who have completely botched the public messaging with regard to vaccination are now taking credit for more people vaccinating.
00:11:55.000 You know why more people are vaccinating?
00:11:56.000 Because more people are scared of COVID.
00:11:59.000 End of story.
00:12:00.000 Which demonstrates, once again, adults do risk allocation all the time.
00:12:04.000 They do risk-reward allocation all the damn time.
00:12:08.000 They don't require doddering old fools like Joe Biden to force them to do it.
00:12:12.000 And Jen Psaki, she said, well, you know, we're probably not going to do more shutdowns, but I'm not going to say that anything is off the table at this point.
00:12:18.000 Here's Jen Psaki from the White House yesterday.
00:12:21.000 We've been clear we're not going back to the shutdowns of March of 2020.
00:12:24.000 We are not going back to the economy shutting down.
00:12:28.000 We've made too much progress.
00:12:29.000 Too many people are vaccinated.
00:12:31.000 There's been too much progress on the economic front.
00:12:34.000 But again, he has said from the beginning that we are going to be guided by the science, guided by our public health experts, and we're not going to take options off the table of what they may recommend.
00:12:44.000 Okay, so this is wild.
00:12:47.000 The whole point here is that elected officials have to balance all of the competing interests, from the economy to freedom.
00:12:53.000 But now, there she is basically just saying, we'll let Dr. Fauci and Rochelle Walensky decide.
00:12:58.000 A very, very bad idea.
00:13:00.000 And by the way, it is resulting in dramatically decreased poll numbers for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
00:13:04.000 On a political level, you know, keep going with this, guys.
00:13:06.000 Really, let's see how it works out for you.

00:14:12.000 Once more, ring.com slash ben.
00:14:15.000 Alrighty, so all of this is just not only bad policy, it is terrible politics.
00:14:19.000 There is a reason that opinion polls are showing that Americans are really pessimistic right now, and it's because if you set a goal like zero COVID and it is unreachable, and then you don't reach it, and then the media freak out every time everybody gets a cold, people are going to get very pessimistic very quickly.
00:14:34.000 Right now, Kamala Harris's numbers Are really, really bad.
00:14:38.000 Her unpopularity is at 49%.
00:14:40.000 Her popularity hovers about 45% according to a YouGov America poll.
00:14:46.000 She's particularly unpopular according to Economist and YouGov with younger voters.
00:14:49.000 Only 36% of people aged 18 to 29 view her favorably.
00:14:53.000 Joe Biden apparently is moving in the wrong direction.
00:14:56.000 A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows at least 52% of likely voters now disapprove of Joe Biden's work in the White House.
00:15:01.000 42% say they strongly disapprove.
00:15:03.000 Only 26% say they strongly approve of Joe Biden's presidency.
00:15:08.000 And even if you see polls that are more positive for Biden, they're way worse than they were just a few weeks ago when it comes to optimism and pessimism about the country.
00:15:15.000 People are way more pessimistic than they were just a few months ago.
00:15:18.000 One of the reasons is because of the alarmist idiocy being pushed by the media.
00:15:22.000 I mean, it is an amazing thing that now you are seeing officials from the White House who are chiding the media for their coverage of COVID.
00:15:28.000 Because the media and the Democratic Party, they are the same.
00:15:31.000 They are a unity.
00:15:32.000 All the media at this point basically are a loudspeaker for whatever the White House wants them to be.
00:15:38.000 And so when the White House are chiding the media, guys, you're too panicked.
00:15:40.000 Stop with the panic already.
00:15:42.000 This demonstrates how far the media have gone in pursuit of the panic.
00:15:47.000 Because of this panic, which again is rooted in a misunderstanding of the difference in cases and deaths, it's rooted in a misunderstanding of the trajectory of the Delta variant, which again we have already seen in the UK, we have already seen in the Netherlands, because it is rooted in a basic misunderstanding of the possibility of how people actually spread this thing from vaccinated to unvaccinated.
00:16:09.000 The media have been covering it like, if you're vaccinated, you are just as likely to pass this thing as if you are unvaccinated.
00:16:14.000 Like all of this, these are bad headlines and bad data being pushed forward by the media.
00:16:18.000 And many of the people responsible for this bad data, frankly, are members of the public health establishment, the Fauci's and Walensky's of the world.
00:16:25.000 This has resulted in some incredibly dumb public health recommendations.
00:16:30.000 So, for example, you've heard a lot about masking up.
00:16:32.000 So, San Francisco Mayor London Breed declared yesterday that everybody in San Francisco, vaccinated and unvaccinated, needs to mask up.
00:16:40.000 Which is totally crazy.
00:16:41.000 Okay, I'm looking right now at the San Francisco COVID rates.
00:16:45.000 San Francisco, COVID cases, right now, their cases are up.
00:16:51.000 They're up to about 1,000 cases a day.
00:16:54.000 The San Francisco rolling death rate, August 1, 2021, their rolling death rate, seven-day average, zero.
00:17:02.000 Zero.
00:17:03.000 Again, San Francisco is masking up again, and their seven-day rolling average on deaths is currently zero.
00:17:09.000 Okay, the population of San Francisco is somewhere in the neighborhood of 900,000 people.
00:17:15.000 Okay, this is madness, of course.
00:17:18.000 Now, Bill de Blasio didn't go quite as far.
00:17:20.000 He said he was going to reject an indoor mask mandate for the vaccinated, but he then came out and said he wanted to recommend that everybody wear masks in indoor settings, even if you're vaccinated, which of course does not make a lot of sense.
00:17:31.000 The whole point here is that if you're telling the vaccinated to mask up, you're actually telling people that the vaccines are not Effective.
00:17:37.000 Unfortunately, that is the message that people are taking away and that is the wrong message.
00:17:41.000 Vaccines are extremely effective because what vaccines are designed to do is prevent you from the dead.
00:17:46.000 You are not supposed to die if you get the vaccine.
00:17:48.000 They're really good at this.
00:17:49.000 They're not as good at preventing you from giving a mild cold to somebody else vaccinated or transmitting to somebody who's unvaccinated, then they get really sick.
00:17:57.000 That's why you're an adult.
00:17:58.000 If you want a vaccine, go get a vaccine today.
00:18:00.000 They're available everywhere.
00:18:02.000 Really, you can't run down the street now without running past some place that is offering a vaccine.
00:18:07.000 If you want the vaccine, go get the vaccine.
00:18:09.000 If you don't, then bear the consequences.
00:18:10.000 But here's Bill de Blasio telling the vaccinated maybe they should consider masking up.
00:18:14.000 We want to strongly recommend that people wear masks in indoor settings, even if you're vaccinated.
00:18:21.000 Now, this is particularly true, of course, if you might be around anyone unvaccinated.
00:18:26.000 If you don't know the people you're around, if you're not sure if they're vaccinated or not, or if you know some are unvaccinated, absolutely crucial to wear a mask, even if you are vaccinated.
00:18:36.000 Okay, now you notice that he's holding a cloth face mask, correct?
00:18:39.000 And this is the go-to is the cloth face mask.
00:18:41.000 Now, there's been a lot of debate in public health circles about just how effective the cloth face masks are.
00:18:46.000 There are some studies that suggest that these are these are lab studies.
00:18:49.000 These are not real world studies that suggest that there may be some mild effectiveness to cloth face masks.
00:18:54.000 N95 seem to be significantly more effective, but you're supposed to actually get a new N95 every day with pretty much no one does.
00:19:01.000 The real world studies on masking are somewhat conflicting.
00:19:05.000 To just be straight with you, there are some studies that suggest a level of efficacy.
00:19:09.000 Those tend to be lab studies where it says that a barrier is better than nothing.
00:19:12.000 Fair enough.
00:19:13.000 And then there's some real world studies which suggest that masking is not quite as effective as people think it is because people tend to mess around with it because there are air pockets, people will move their mask, they'll take a dirty mask, put it in their pocket, put it back on their face, and all the rest of that sort of thing.
00:19:26.000 So the record is mixed.
00:19:29.000 One thing that is indubitably true, and obviously true, is that mask mandates have had no real impact.
00:19:36.000 Okay, let's begin in Sweden.
00:19:37.000 Okay, right now, according to RT.com, mask-free Sweden nears zero daily COVID deaths, as chief epidemiologist warns against far-reaching conclusions against the Delta strain.
00:19:48.000 Remember, Sweden was ripped up and down for its approach to COVID, which was basically protect the people who are most vulnerable, let everybody else go live their life.
00:19:55.000 There was no mask mandate in COVID.
00:19:56.000 There hasn't been since like July, since last July.
00:20:00.000 Or rather, Sweden dropped its last remaining... They had very mild mask recommendations for public transport, but they dropped that on July 1st.
00:20:09.000 They supported some social distancing measures, but Sweden was very wide open from the beginning of the pandemic.
00:20:15.000 And right now, Sweden is experiencing pretty much zero COVID deaths on a day-to-day basis, and that is despite the Delta variant still being the chief variant in Sweden, just like it is everywhere else.
00:20:26.000 So are the masks the solution?
00:20:28.000 Vaccination is the solution, guys.
00:20:30.000 Vaccination is the solution.
00:20:31.000 Masks were never going to be the solution.
00:20:33.000 And that's why it was so absurd when you saw people in the federal government telling you that you should rely more on your mask than on vaccinations, that masks were... Literally, Robert Redfield said this in Senate testimony.
00:20:43.000 He said, masks protect you better than the vaccine, which is just crazy.
00:20:46.000 That's just crazy talons.
00:20:48.000 Also, when it comes to mask mandates, these have not been successful nearly anywhere.
00:20:52.000 There is no evidence that mask mandates, I'm not saying masks, mask mandates, government top-down directives that you must wear a mask, that these have done anything to dramatically decrease either transmission rates or hospitalization rates or death rates.
00:21:06.000 I'll give you that data in just one moment.
00:21:08.000 First, let's talk about the fact that You probably have a lot of equity in your home, right?
00:21:12.000 It's probably the chief holder of your equity at this point.
00:21:15.000 Your home mortgage.
00:21:16.000 So how much equity do you have?
00:21:17.000 Like $50,000 or $100,000 more?
00:21:19.000 Cybercrime experts are alerting homeowners, the more equity you have, the greater the chance foreign and domestic criminals will come after you.
00:21:24.000 Home title theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States.
00:21:27.000 In fact, Home Title Law, America's leader in home title protection, is alerting homeowners they could already be a victim and you could not know it.
00:21:34.000 So here's how all of this works.
00:21:35.000 First, A cyber thief will search hundreds of public databases for high equity homes.
00:21:40.000 Next, they pull your home's online title, forge your signature stating you sold your home, and take out loans using your equity.
00:21:45.000 You're not covered by insurance, your bank, or common identity theft programs.
00:21:49.000 I mean, you wouldn't leave, like, all of your jewelry just out on the counter for somebody to steal.
00:21:53.000 You wouldn't leave the front door of your house unlocked.
00:21:55.000 So why would you leave all of the value in your home open to the world?
00:21:58.000 Protect your most valuable asset.
00:22:00.000 Register your address right now.
00:22:01.000 See if you're already a victim.
00:22:02.000 Receive a complete title history of your home.
00:22:04.000 a $100 value for free.
00:22:06.000 Go to hometitlelock.com.
00:22:08.000 Again, that is hometitlelock.com and see if you've already become a victim.
00:22:13.000 And then protect yourself, hometitlelock.com.
00:22:16.000 Alrighty, so you've seen members of the media who are in full-scale panic mode say that the solution to this is new mask mandates.
00:22:21.000 Force all the vaccinated to masks that they don't breathe or cough, even asymptomatically, on people who are unvaccinated.
00:22:28.000 Which again, is really stupid for a variety of reasons, including the fact it makes unvaccinated people feel more protected than they actually are when the actual solution for them is to go get vaccinated.
00:22:37.000 But for example, Mika Brzezinski is uber mad at Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida because DeSantis has said he is not in favor of mask mandates and he's not in favor of masking children in schools.
00:22:47.000 Here's Mika Brzezinski going nuts on DeSantis.
00:22:50.000 What is going on in Florida?
00:22:52.000 I know Governor Ron DeSantis supports the vaccine, but this masking non-mandate, or whatever you want to call it, seems very counter to the science.
00:23:03.000 And also we've had a governor who's been flouting Fauci, making fun of the top doctor in the United States.
00:23:11.000 I feel like he's sending a very mixed message to his constituents.
00:23:17.000 At what point is the Florida government liable for what is happening in Florida?
00:23:21.000 Okay, no, he's not sending a mixed message.
00:23:23.000 The message he has been sending consistently and openly is that there's a high likelihood you're going to get COVID.
00:23:28.000 And either you're going to get it or you're going to get vaccinated.
00:23:30.000 That is the message that Ron DeSantis has been sending, which is why the vaccination rates in Florida have been rising continuously.
00:23:35.000 Florida ranks somewhere in the middle of the pack in terms of vaccinations, but Florida has already vaccinated all of the olds in Florida, which is a lot of people in Florida.
00:23:44.000 By the way, Dr. Michael Osterholm, who is an advisor, he's a COVID advisor to Joe Biden.
00:23:50.000 He came out yesterday, he said cloth face masks aren't effective at Delta variant.
00:23:53.000 I wonder if he's going to get banned from YouTube for pointing this out.
00:23:56.000 We know today that many of the face cloth coverings that people wear are not very effective in reducing any of the virus movement in or out, either you're breathing out or you're breathing in.
00:24:05.000 And in fact, if you're in the Upper Midwest right now, anybody who's wearing their face cloth covering can tell you they can smell all the smoke that we're still getting.
00:24:13.000 We need to talk about better masking.
00:24:15.000 We need to talk about N95 respirators, which would do a lot For both people who are not yet vaccinated or not previously infected, protecting them as well as keeping others who might become infected, having been vaccinated, from breathing out the virus.
00:24:35.000 Masks.
00:24:35.000 Then what we really should be talking about right now is everybody go back to normal except people who are particularly vulnerable and can't get the vaccine.
00:24:41.000 Right?
00:24:42.000 People who have serious underlying conditions who should have the N95s.
00:24:45.000 But, you know, they're still calling for mask mandates is the point.
00:24:48.000 Like broad mask mandates.
00:24:50.000 By the way, again, the record on mask mandates sucks.
00:24:52.000 It's really bad.
00:24:53.000 Like here, for example, is a chart from Austria.
00:24:55.000 You can see Austria started requiring masks fairly early on in the pandemic.
00:24:59.000 This would have been like March of 2020.
00:25:00.000 They started requiring it after they had their spike.
00:25:03.000 Things remained low.
00:25:04.000 Then they got to winter.
00:25:05.000 The mask mandate was still in place.
00:25:06.000 Boom, huge spike.
00:25:07.000 Germany, same exact thing.
00:25:09.000 Germany, you can see they put in their mask mandate mid-April of last year.
00:25:13.000 They were already on the downside of the mountain.
00:25:16.000 Things remain low.
00:25:17.000 Boom, fall spike.
00:25:18.000 Same thing in France.
00:25:20.000 They had like a mild uptick and then a mild downtick in terms of COVID cases per million.
00:25:26.000 They implemented a mask mandate in May.
00:25:28.000 Fall, boom, spike.
00:25:29.000 Same thing in Spain.
00:25:30.000 I mean, over and over, it's the same exact pattern.
00:25:33.000 Spain, Britain, Belgium, wherever there was a mask requirement, it was usually done after there was already the major spike, and then afterward, there was another major spike.
00:25:42.000 So the notion that you can just have government tell people to mask up, and this is going to prevent COVID, the record on that is really, really poor.
00:25:48.000 Again, that is not saying that masks are completely ineffective, although, again, there is a wide variation between cloth masks on small children, which is what most little kids are wearing, which, Again, I fail to see how any studies that suggest that that is wildly effective for small children and N95s on adults.
00:26:05.000 My wife, as a doctor, was trained in the use of PPE, personal protective equipment.
00:26:08.000 Were you?
00:26:10.000 And by the way, in the hospital, when you're working with severely ill patients who have very transmissible diseases, you use an N95.
00:26:16.000 You don't use a surgical mask.
00:26:18.000 You may use a face shield.
00:26:19.000 You don't use a cloth mask.
00:26:22.000 But people have started treating the masks as sort of a totem of religious iconography, which is At least it was sort of somewhat understandable on an emotional level when there were no solutions.
00:26:32.000 Now there's a vaccine.
00:26:33.000 There's no rationale for treating masks as the be-all end-all at this point.
00:26:37.000 Okay, but the panic continues apace.
00:26:40.000 So here's the thing.
00:26:41.000 The public health establishment needs another reason why we need to have these shutdowns and centralization of power in the bureaucracy.
00:26:48.000 Because if what I'm saying is true, Namely, adults are adults, and adults get to make adult decisions, and there's a solution right here.
00:26:54.000 And if you don't want to use the solution, that one's on you, which means public health experts are now basically back to what they were before, which is they go back to their laboratories, and they go back to their organizations, and they leave the rest of us the hell alone.
00:27:06.000 They have to have some way of forestalling their return to anonymity.
00:27:10.000 The way that they've forestalled the return to anonymity is they do what they've been doing sporadically throughout the pandemic.
00:27:15.000 They say it's about the kids.
00:27:16.000 It is not about the kids.
00:27:17.000 The data on the Delta variant demonstrate this thing is more transmissible.
00:27:20.000 There is no data whatsoever suggesting at this point, data, not anecdotal stories, data, suggesting that Delta is more deadly for kids.
00:27:28.000 Hey, you know who says this?
00:27:29.000 The Washington Post.
00:27:31.000 There's a good article in the week, just last week, about the risk to children from the Delta variant.
00:27:37.000 Professor Emily Oster has said exactly the same thing.
00:27:40.000 Professor of Economics over at Brown University.
00:27:42.000 She points out that for children, there's higher kid infection, but the risk of serious disease remains very low.
00:27:48.000 You know who else is saying this?
00:27:49.000 Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, who again is a doctor inside the Biden administration.
00:27:54.000 She says kids are not being harmed by Delta in large numbers.
00:27:58.000 Thankfully, for children, the risk of severe COVID remains still very small.
00:28:06.000 The risk of hospitalization remains very minimal.
00:28:09.000 Death, even for the complication people might know as MIS-C.
00:28:12.000 But again, you know, you're a parent and so am I. Every sort of case that can be prevented, we want to prevent.
00:28:19.000 Okay, so she is herself admitting that there's no data to suggest this thing is highly deadly for small children.
00:28:25.000 And yet the kids, as always, are being used as the excuse For more top-down public health controls.
00:28:31.000 So, for example, you have a doctor on MSNBC, a guy named Red Leonard, the Irwin Red Leonard, who's saying, we haven't done enough to protect kids in schools.
00:28:40.000 We haven't done enough.
00:28:41.000 We need to do more to protect kids in schools.
00:28:42.000 Kids in schools were never the main vector of transmission, particularly kids under the age of 12.
00:28:47.000 By the way, in the United States, emergency use authorization has been extended for every single person above the age of 12 in the United States.
00:28:53.000 This is true internationally as well.
00:28:55.000 Small children are never, they've never been the main vectors of transmission.
00:28:59.000 Small children are not dying from the virus in any sort of statistically significant numbers.
00:29:04.000 The number of children who have died without any pre-existing conditions from the virus is so low it beggars imagination.
00:29:12.000 In fact, there was a Johns Hopkins study recently and it found, I believe, zero COVID deaths among healthy young children.
00:29:21.000 Thank God, thank God for that.
00:29:22.000 But that's not stopping people from freaking out because again, politicians, the incentive structure in our society is so loaded against people allowing you freedom.
00:29:31.000 If you're a politician and you are active and intervening in somebody's life, even if the intervention is stupid and counterproductive and makes your life worse, then we give the politicians credit for trying.
00:29:42.000 Hey, that is precisely the opposite of what we should be doing with our politicians.
00:29:45.000 Politicians should be given credit for leaving us the hell alone and only intervening when necessity calls for it.
00:29:51.000 Necessity does not call for this.
00:29:52.000 But people are so reliant on the government playing Big Brother and playing God.
00:29:57.000 I have to say, there's an almost religious quality to what people want from their government actors at this point.
00:30:03.000 There's a religious quality to how people treat Anthony Fauci, and there's a religious quality to how people treat the government in general.
00:30:09.000 Oh, death is coming.
00:30:09.000 The government will save me.
00:30:11.000 COVID could, you know, I know that it's really not damaging the kids.
00:30:14.000 I know that the masking procedures they are recommending are not going to be particularly effective, but at least they're doing something.
00:30:20.000 At least they're doing something.
00:30:21.000 The government cannot protect you from life.
00:30:24.000 That is not the government's job.
00:30:26.000 The government is designed to protect you from externalities that are created by other people acting in dangerous and irresponsible fashion.
00:30:33.000 That is not the same thing as you have the ability to protect yourself now.
00:30:37.000 The game fundamentally changed when vaccines became available.
00:30:40.000 Period.
00:30:40.000 End of story.
00:30:41.000 Nonetheless, you have Dr. Redliner saying kids are at risk.
00:30:43.000 Kids are not at serious risk of COVID.
00:30:45.000 We have known this for a year.
00:30:47.000 Children are at risk, Garrett, and they will be continuing to be at risk, and maybe greater risk than they are right now.
00:30:53.000 So RSV is a virus that causes, a very common virus that causes respiratory illness in children.
00:30:59.000 And before the pandemic, we would see a lot of this in very young children.
00:31:05.000 Now we're seeing a rise in the RSV.
00:31:08.000 It's called respiratory syncytial virus.
00:31:10.000 We're seeing a rise in that along with a rise in COVID cases among children.
00:31:15.000 This does not portend very well for what's going to happen when we start opening schools and have, of course, children all over the country going back into the classroom without necessarily even mandating that teachers and other adult workers in schools get vaccinated.
00:31:30.000 Okay, by the way, RSV is a different virus than COVID.
00:31:34.000 RSV is a different virus than COVID.
00:31:35.000 So we're seeing an RSV spike, and we're using that to now suggest that we need to lock down on the basis of COVID.
00:31:40.000 It is a different virus.
00:31:43.000 So, like, this is just madness.
00:31:46.000 It's just madness.
00:31:48.000 And all of this is driving government actors, who are more activists, to say, yeah, you know what?
00:31:52.000 We've got to mask up our kids.
00:31:53.000 We need to mask.
00:31:54.000 The data on masking kids is nil.
00:31:56.000 Okay?
00:31:57.000 In many countries, they don't mask kids.
00:31:59.000 The notion that masking kids has ever been highly protective of the surrounding society is ridiculous.
00:32:05.000 And yet Governor Mike DeWine of Ohio, he gets points for trying because he says that we should mask up kids at schools.
00:32:09.000 I'll tell you what we have done.
00:32:12.000 We came out last week with recommendations.
00:32:15.000 They are recommendations.
00:32:16.000 We leave it up to the local schools.
00:32:18.000 600 and some local schools.
00:32:20.000 We leave it up to them, but we have a strong recommendation that because the population in school, kids in school, most of them are unvaccinated.
00:32:31.000 Obviously, we can't get anybody 11 and under vaccinated yet.
00:32:33.000 So most of these kids are unvaccinated.
00:32:35.000 And we had great success last winter, last school year.
00:32:39.000 We saw virtually no spread in the classroom when all the kids were wearing masks.
00:32:42.000 So we recommend, strong recommendation to our schools, That they do that now some will do that some will not but it's clear the evidence shows that that's a way to really slow down spread In the school.
00:32:57.000 And we think it's very important.
00:32:58.000 Okay, is that what the evidence shows?
00:32:59.000 Because we've been operating on the basis of almost no evidence with regard to public health measures since the beginning of this pandemic.
00:33:04.000 To take the most obvious example, we still have governors and senators and public health officials saying that we need a social distance at six feet apart.
00:33:11.000 Do you know where six feet apart came from?
00:33:13.000 I don't.
00:33:14.000 The CDC.
00:33:14.000 You know who else doesn't?
00:33:15.000 They've been asked directly where the six foot guidance comes from.
00:33:18.000 And the answer is nowhere.
00:33:20.000 Literally nowhere.
00:33:21.000 Okay, the WHO has been saying that three foot minimums were the standard.
00:33:25.000 This is as of last year.
00:33:27.000 They were saying a three foot standard was the minimum because there were studies that were like a hundred years old about droplets.
00:33:32.000 There's only one problem.
00:33:34.000 This virus is not a droplet driven virus.
00:33:36.000 It is aerosolized.
00:33:37.000 It's in the air.
00:33:38.000 Once you speak, it is out there.
00:33:40.000 There are studies suggesting that if you really want to socially distance from somebody with COVID, you need about 30 feet.
00:33:45.000 30, not 6.
00:33:45.000 So we've been operating on the basis of just bad data throughout this entire pandemic, and it just feels like immature people grasping at straws to try and control things that they frankly cannot control very well.
00:33:57.000 And now...
00:33:59.000 In the middle of the thing, you get it.
00:34:00.000 Again, in the middle of the thing, when you are grasping at straws, you get it.
00:34:02.000 But I'll tell you when I don't get it, I don't get it when the solution is there, and when everybody's had the opportunity to avail themselves of the solution, and people are still insisting on this crap.
00:34:11.000 Now, there are people who are taking advantage, right?
00:34:13.000 Randi Weingarten over at the American Federation of Teachers, who's one of the more malevolent forces in American public life.
00:34:19.000 She's already signaling that the schools might shut down again.
00:34:22.000 Because the chief goal of so many of these teachers' unions is to make sure their teachers never have to do a jot or tittle of work.
00:34:27.000 Here's Randi Weingarten, one of the worst people in the United States.
00:34:30.000 Schools will be open.
00:34:32.000 They need to be open.
00:34:33.000 We need to make sure that they are safe and healthy.
00:34:36.000 The next question about will they stay open, that's where we worry.
00:34:42.000 Because when you have lots of kids, particularly every child under 12 has not been vaccinated, we see the Delta variant being very transmissible.
00:34:54.000 So what?
00:34:57.000 So what if a bunch of five-year-olds give each other the Delta variant and they all get cold?
00:35:01.000 Guess what?
00:35:01.000 That's called being five.
00:35:02.000 Have you ever had a five-year-old?
00:35:04.000 Okay, I have two kids who are between the ages of five and eight and I have a one-and-a-half-year-old.
00:35:08.000 The one-and-a-half-year-old has basically never been sick because she's never seen human society because of COVID.
00:35:12.000 The other two, and that's not by choice, now she's out there and she's circulating and all this and she gets a cold every so often because kids are just petri dishes.
00:35:20.000 I don't care if my five-year-old gets a cold.
00:35:23.000 I don't care if my seven-year-old gets a cold.
00:35:25.000 No parent cares about this.
00:35:28.000 This is this bizarre, idiotic notion that kids are never going to get sick again.
00:35:31.000 And that Randy Weingarten is deeply worried for your child unless they're vaccinated against a disease that to date has killed 340 people under the age of 18.
00:35:40.000 Those are the CDC stats yesterday.
00:35:42.000 And apparently, according to Johns Hopkins, zero of those kids were perfectly healthy at the time when they got COVID.
00:35:48.000 She is saying that we're going to shut down schools again.
00:35:52.000 The level of control that unelected bureaucrats want to hold over your life is unending, and that's why they need an unending pandemic.
00:35:58.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second, because again, there are exceptions to every rule.
00:36:01.000 The exceptions are that the specials themselves don't have to follow any of the rules.
00:36:04.000 We'll get to that in a moment.
00:36:05.000 First, this past weekend, you saw that there were vaccine passport protests in Berlin.
00:36:09.000 They turned violent when police decided to start batoning women and children.
00:36:12.000 The media have turned a blind eye.
00:36:13.000 You haven't seen that covered very much.
00:36:14.000 Why?
00:36:15.000 Well, it hurts the narrative that they have been spinning, which is that the only thing that matters is the lockdowns.
00:36:20.000 Authoritarianism has been on the move.
00:36:22.000 You're seeing it from the government.
00:36:23.000 You're seeing it from public health experts.
00:36:24.000 You're seeing it in your corporate life, where your boss is telling you what to think and what to believe.
00:36:29.000 You are seeing it at your schools, where your schools are telling your kids that they have to believe that America is a terrible place and that based on their color, they are steeped in the sins of the past.
00:36:38.000 This is why you need to pick up a brand new copy of my new book, The Authoritarian Moment.
00:36:42.000 The book does a deep dive into the history of authoritarianism in the United States, how it is creeping into our own government, what we can do to stop it, And looks at every institution in the United States and looks at how the left renormalized those institutions and weaponized them against you.
00:36:55.000 In order to reverse that, you have to understand how we got here.
00:36:58.000 The Authoritarian Moment details that and, more importantly, how we stop it.
00:37:02.000 It has an actual action plan in The Authoritarian Moment about how to stop what is going on right now.
00:37:06.000 The Authoritarian Moment, it is now available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or any other major bookseller.
00:37:10.000 Go get your copy right now.
00:37:11.000 Leave a five-star review.
00:37:12.000 Let others know the book is worth their time.
00:37:15.000 Thank you.

00:37:44.000 It's a good time on Candace's set.
00:37:45.000 This isn't an opportunity I'd pass up.
00:37:47.000 Were I you?
00:37:48.000 So, if you're in the mood for a vacation with a side of leftist takedowns, go now to win two VIP tickets to Candace at dailywire.com slash subscribe using code VIP for 25% off.
00:37:59.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:38:02.000 So, this is not, none of this, none of the realities are stopping people on the left from engaging in a sort of full scale hypocrisy.
00:38:15.000 So, You have Andrew Cuomo in New York who killed all the old people in New York, which is, you know, pretty amazing that he's still the governor and apparently no one cares.
00:38:23.000 Remember that time when he was embroiled in all these sexual harassment scandals and then those just kind of went away because he's a Democrat?
00:38:28.000 Yeah, that was fun.
00:38:29.000 Anyway, Andrew Cuomo, he said yesterday that private businesses should ban the unvaccinated, which is unbelievably stupid.
00:38:34.000 Again, these are all public health measures that are likely to achieve the opposite of what people who are pushing them supposedly want to achieve.
00:38:40.000 If you push all of the unvaccinated into one area, And you push all the vaccinated into the other area, which is what Andrew Cuomo is now proposing.
00:38:48.000 What do you suppose happens inside the unvaccinated area?
00:38:52.000 You think things spread slower or faster?
00:38:55.000 The answer is a lot faster.
00:38:56.000 If you want a higher case count, make sure that you separate the vaccinated from the unvaccinated.
00:39:00.000 That's precisely what Andrew Cuomo is pushing because, once again, Our politics reward people for DOING SOMETHING!
00:39:07.000 Even if that something is setting your hair on fire and then running directly into a tree.
00:39:11.000 You get rewarded for that in politics so long as you're DOING SOMETHING!
00:39:15.000 If you just say, listen, not much we can do here.
00:39:17.000 Live your life.
00:39:18.000 Be on your own.
00:39:19.000 Then the media are like, how dare you watch?
00:39:21.000 Let people die!
00:39:23.000 Death, Santas!
00:39:25.000 Here's Andrew Cuomo setting his hair on fire and then running directly into a tree.
00:39:28.000 Private businesses, I am asking them And suggesting to them, go to vaccine-only admission.
00:39:40.000 Go to vaccine-only admission.
00:39:44.000 Oh, well, if they do that, then that would probably fix everything.
00:39:47.000 Except for how it's not going to.
00:39:49.000 The good news is that if you're a high-profile Democrat, you don't have to pay attention to any of this.
00:39:53.000 So here is CNN's John Berman defending maskless Muriel Bowser attending a wedding.
00:40:00.000 It's good times.
00:40:00.000 If you're Muriel Bowser, you are so special, the rules don't apply to you.
00:40:03.000 This has been true throughout the pandemic, right?
00:40:05.000 If you're Chris Cuomo, you don't have to pay attention to quarantine rules.
00:40:08.000 And if you're Lori Lightfoot, then you get to go get your hair done.
00:40:11.000 And if you're Nancy Pelosi, you get to do the same thing.
00:40:14.000 The rules just don't apply to you.
00:40:15.000 You're one of the special people.
00:40:16.000 Here is CNN's John Berman defending Muriel Bowser attending a wedding maskless indoors.
00:40:21.000 We were criticizing politicians for wearing masks still, where the science was telling them, oh, they didn't need to be.
00:40:29.000 You know, we kept on asking the White House, why is Joe Biden still wearing a mask when the mask guidance, you know, has changed?
00:40:34.000 And now, of course, we're saying, She should be wearing a mask even though she was still following the guidance.
00:40:40.000 Look, I get it.
00:40:41.000 If you're a politician, you don't want a picture that raises questions.
00:40:44.000 That's bad politics.
00:40:45.000 The question is, you know, whether or not she did anything functionally, policy-wise wrong, and I don't know.
00:40:52.000 Well, you know, no, no, I mean, we were, yes.
00:40:54.000 It's her standard.
00:40:55.000 She's the one who just put a mask mandate in place.
00:40:58.000 Again, all of this is about control.
00:41:00.000 It is incredible how all of the right-wing fears about people taking advantage of the pandemic to grab control have now been basically justified.
00:41:08.000 And this is coming from somebody who, again, was perfectly willing to suspend judgments on that particular question when we didn't know anything about the virus.
00:41:17.000 I didn't say that people shouldn't wear masks.
00:41:18.000 I was not rabidly anti-mask.
00:41:20.000 I didn't say at any point that people shouldn't take vaccines.
00:41:23.000 I've been rabidly pro-vaccine.
00:41:25.000 But the point here is that now they're still grabbing power.
00:41:28.000 This is an amazing, it really is a low-key amazing story that people are just ignoring.
00:41:33.000 So according to USA Today, the CDC has now extended a policy that allows migrants to be expelled over COVID concerns.
00:41:38.000 So the Biden administration wants to reject all of Donald Trump's immigration policies.
00:41:42.000 They've done that on the southern border, and we've gotten an unprecedented flood of people washing across the border and citing Joe Biden's policy as a rationale.
00:41:49.000 So, that's a bad headline.
00:41:51.000 They don't really want to openly walk back their own border policies, so instead, they've now empowered the CDC to do it for them.
00:41:59.000 We have giant bureaucracies who are simply empowered to do the thing that the president kind of wants to be done, but he doesn't have to do it in a way that he's answerable for.
00:42:06.000 So, the Biden administration extended a Trump-era policy on Monday that allows migrants to be expelled to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in holding facilities.
00:42:15.000 I'm sure that part of this, by the way, was a bunch of pictures that were coming out of those holding facilities in which thousands of COVID-positive people We're waiting in lines.
00:42:22.000 And then reports that a lot of those people were just being released into the interior of the United States.
00:42:26.000 The CDC said in a statement that Title 42 quote, shall remain in effect until the CDC director determines that the danger of further introduction of COVID-19 into the United States from covered non-citizens has ceased to be a serious danger to public health and the order is no longer necessary to protect the public health.
00:42:43.000 Title 42 allows CBP, that's Customs and Border Protection, to expel undocumented migrants to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in holding facilities.
00:42:50.000 Some children and families are exempt from the policy.
00:42:54.000 DHS said in a statement, So, let's just get this straight.
00:42:57.000 but a public health authority and its continued use is dictated by CDC and governed by the CDC's analysis of public health factors.
00:43:04.000 Okay, so let's just get this straight.
00:43:06.000 Over the course of the pandemic, the CDC, which again stands for Centers for Disease Control, has now been put in charge for purposes of centralizing power of federal eviction moratoriums, right?
00:43:18.000 Which again, they have no constitutional or statutory power to do.
00:43:22.000 They do not have the power to simply reject the ability of homeowners to collect rent and apartment owners to collect rent.
00:43:29.000 No one gave the CDC that authority.
00:43:31.000 They just took it.
00:43:32.000 The CDC does not have plenary power over immigration.
00:43:35.000 Apparently, they now have been given plenary power over immigration.
00:43:38.000 And now they are doing this in the midst of what is a non-crisis.
00:43:42.000 We do not have a crisis in this country.
00:43:44.000 Be unvaccinated?
00:43:45.000 I've made a decision not to be vaccinated.
00:43:47.000 I can't say this enough times.
00:43:48.000 Okay, a crisis requires two things.
00:43:51.000 One, a bad thing to happen, and two, for that thing to be relatively unpreventable.
00:43:55.000 What is happening right now is not only not unpreventable, it has largely been prevented by the vast vaccination of the American population.
00:44:03.000 And yet we're still doing this routine.
00:44:05.000 And so, like, I really wonder if Ameri- There's so many Americans who apparently are just willing to give up their freedom on the basis of pretty much nothing.
00:44:12.000 Nothing.
00:44:13.000 The entire population of San Francisco, apparently, is going to go along with masking up despite a seven-day running death average of zero.
00:44:20.000 Apparently, Washington, D.C.
00:44:22.000 gonna do the same thing.
00:44:23.000 They have a running day, seven-day death average in Washington, D.C.
00:44:27.000 of zero.
00:44:28.000 And they're all masking up again.
00:44:30.000 And so, this does lead me to wonder, in a very serious way, what is the future of this country?
00:44:34.000 Seriously, what is the future of this country?
00:44:36.000 Because so long as you can sufficiently scare people, you can get them to give any amount of power to the government, apparently.
00:44:42.000 Endless amounts of power to the government.
00:44:44.000 You can imagine a situation in which, a few years from now, The weather continues to get wonky out there because we are experiencing, yes, a warming of the globe that is going to take place over the course of the next century.
00:44:56.000 And human beings have an extraordinary capacity to adapt.
00:44:59.000 But you can see our political boss is saying, disaster will strike and you and your family will die unless we lock you in your house for three months a year without air conditioning, right?
00:45:08.000 What will people be willing to do?
00:45:09.000 What sort of inconvenience will they be willing to go along with in order to prevent the slightest chance of a bad thing happening?
00:45:18.000 We used to be a rather hardy people, liberty-seeking people, and I wonder whether we are now two peoples.
00:45:23.000 One group of people who are willing to undertake risk, rational risk, and one group of people who are utterly unwilling to countenance any risk and are willing to give unending power to a centralized authority to prevent themselves from even having to make the decision.
00:45:35.000 That's the question on my mind these days.
