00:00:00.000 There is a new thing that's happening in culture.
00:00:02.000 It's great.
00:00:03.000 It's great.
00:00:04.000 It's really a good thing, honestly.
00:00:06.000 And that is actors are beginning to realize that perhaps, perhaps Republicans watch movies too.
00:00:11.000 And we're seeing this crop up in a wide variety of contexts.
00:00:13.000 So, Glenn Powell, who is the star of a number of movies ranging from Running Man, he was in Top Gun Maverick.
00:00:21.000 He did an interview with Squire and he said, Over time, I realized politics divide people.
00:00:25.000 People trying to prove their point for me, it's the worst version of a conversation.
00:00:29.000 I genuinely do not like the discourse.
00:00:30.000 It's not as healthy as it once was.
00:00:33.000 He says, I applaud people for jumping into those things and fighting for what they believe in.
00:00:36.000 If I were a political person, I'd be talking about it for me.
00:00:39.000 My calling is elsewhere.
00:00:42.000 And he basically says that he loves movies and he just wants to act.
00:00:50.000 And that's it.
00:00:50.000 I mean, that's good.
00:00:52.000 Why is that bad?
00:00:53.000 Why can't our actors just act?
00:00:55.000 That seems like a good thing for the country.
00:00:56.000 Can't we all just love Top Gun Maverick together?
00:00:58.000 Do we really have to get into Glenn Powell's or Tom Cruise's politics?
00:01:04.000 Meanwhile, over on The Daily Show, Michael Costa asked Sebastian Stan if his new movie is conservative.
00:01:10.000 So he's made a new film, kind of small art house flick, about a fight between parents who wish to retain control over their kids' education and local authorities.
00:01:20.000 And the movie cuts fairly conservative.
00:01:22.000 And The Daily Show noticed it.
00:01:23.000 And here was what Sebastian Stan had to say Some people might characterize the themes of this movie as fairly conservative.
00:01:30.000 What's your response to that?
00:01:32.000 Are people overthinking it?
00:01:34.000 No, I mean, I think that's a pretty fair assessment, but that shouldn't necessarily cancel out the issues that this family is facing or that the feelings that they have and the desire that they have to raise the kids in the best way they can.
00:01:52.000 I think there's probably always, right, on either side, that there needs to be an opening of a door for sort of more of a back and forth to happen.
00:02:02.000 But when did, I mean, this is one thing, right?
00:02:06.000 When did conservative become so wrong?
00:02:09.000 Right.
00:02:10.000 You know, I guess.
00:02:11.000 I don't, I didn't, you know, I didn't really grow up in that kind of a religious environment.
00:02:15.000 But as long as there's curiosity, at least instead of immediate judgment, maybe there's something else there.
00:02:24.000 But you, you know, if a family's trying to stay together, we should at least give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they're trying to do it for the right reasons.
00:02:33.000 I mean, wow, a little wow.
00:02:36.000 I mean, the fact that saying something as anti-dynamic as that is now a wow moment in our entertainment culture is kind of shocking, but it is true.
00:02:43.000 There are more actors who are doing this.
00:02:45.000 And of course, if you go, it turns out that the Marvel Universe has its own set of weird and interesting politics.
00:02:50.000 So, Sebastian Stan, he's kind of coding conservative right there.
00:02:54.000 He, of course, plays Bucky in the Marvel Universe.
00:02:57.000 Chris Pratt, who is one of the key players in the Marvel Universe, he codes conservative.
00:03:05.000 Here he was in 2018.
00:03:06.000 In a great speech at the MTV Movie Awards, God is real.
00:03:13.000 God loves you.
00:03:15.000 God wants the best for you.
00:03:17.000 Believe that.
00:03:18.000 I do.
00:03:21.000 Okay, again, Chris Pratt has always quoted conservative, which is why he used to trend every few days on action when people were yelling at him.
00:03:28.000 Scarlett Johansson has talked openly, because she's Jewish, about her feelings on the rise of anti Semitism.
00:03:34.000 And she has done business in Israel, which of course makes people insane, but she is working steadily.
00:03:39.000 People, you know, making anti Semitic comments and just assuming that you're, you know, that you're feeling the same way or whatever.
00:03:48.000 And it's, you know, I think in those moments, I always feel, you know, it's such a tightrope walk because you're always, I think whenever people are spewing any kind of hate, I always am concerned that they're going to be physically violent as well.
00:04:01.000 And so it's a scary dilemma to find yourself in those moments.
00:04:07.000 You know, should I speak up and defend my family, defend myself, or am I actually inviting somebody to, you know, to be physically violent with me or, you know, who knows what the.
00:04:20.000 Result of this is going to be.
00:04:22.000 I think there's so much fear around that.
00:04:25.000 And meanwhile, the rest of the Marvel universe, you got Mark Ruffalo, who loses his mind every so often being a psychotic leftist.
00:04:32.000 Or you have Florence Pugh, who basically fundraises for Hamas front groups in her Instagram bio.
00:04:38.000 You know, why variety of politics in Hollywood?
00:04:40.000 But the one, the only, the only politics that sort of shock us are the ones that don't code far left.
00:04:46.000 But more and more actors are realizing, hey, maybe if I don't just code far left, better things might happen to me in my career.
00:04:52.000 There's been a lot.
00:04:53.000 A lot of heartburn and upset in Hollywood over the Ellisons taking over Paramount and then taking over Warner Brothers.
00:05:02.000 They've been really upset about this.
00:05:03.000 But the difference is that the Ellisons will work with Mark Ruffalo and Florence Pugh.
00:05:08.000 Meanwhile, Mark Ruffalo probably wants to execute the Ellisons.
00:05:12.000 The actors who make up that Marvel Universe could, you know, actually be an interesting stand in for political pluralism in Hollywood if everybody would just get over themselves.
00:05:20.000 Preborn.
00:05:21.000 Okay.
00:05:21.000 I've talked about it many, many times.
00:05:22.000 It is the most important money that you will give this year because when you give to preborn, you are saving babies' lives.
00:05:27.000 Through the ministry of preborn, more than 50,000 babies have been saved this year alone.
00:05:32.000 Now, preborn wants to help rescue 50,000 more babies.
00:05:36.000 Just $28 will sponsor an ultrasound and can help save a baby's life.
00:05:40.000 To give, dial pound 250, say keyword baby.
00:05:42.000 That's pound 250 baby or donate securely at preborn.com slash Ben.
00:05:46.000 That's preborn.com slash Ben.
00:05:48.000 So what do they do?
00:05:49.000 Well, they take the money they're giving them and they help subsidize women to actually get ultrasound.
00:05:53.000 So they walk into a preborn clinic and instead of just being recommended an abortion and being told nonsense about how There's no problem at all.
00:06:01.000 There's no issue for you to think about.
00:06:02.000 Instead, they're shown an ultrasound of the baby.
00:06:03.000 And guess what?
00:06:04.000 It changes hearts and it changes minds.
00:06:06.000 Ultrasounds are medical magic.
00:06:07.000 They're unbelievable.
00:06:08.000 I've met every one of my five kids well before they are born.
00:06:10.000 The same thing happens when women walk into a preborn clinic and you can help make that happen and you preserve life by doing so.
00:06:15.000 Donate securely at preborn.com slash Ben or dial pound 250 and say keyword baby.
00:06:20.000 That's pound 250, baby.
00:06:23.000 In other Hollywood news.
00:06:23.000 Okay.
00:06:25.000 And it's astonishing to me how much the entertainment media are invested in the idea that conservative Tinted films just should not be made.
00:06:32.000 So there's a website called IndieWire, and they went and they dug up a crew member on the film that we are currently making over in Montana.
00:06:40.000 This is the ICE film, the film about an ICE arrest of an illegal immigrant, a criminally illegal immigrant.
00:06:46.000 A crew member quit.
00:06:47.000 So here's the actual story The crew member was hired, the person was informed this is a Daily Wire film.
00:06:54.000 I mean, it's a Daily Wire film, you can fairly guarantee that, you know, the politics aren't going to be left wing exactly.
00:07:00.000 There was a long line on the Daily Wire film, and it discussed exactly what the film was about.
00:07:05.000 And then this person was sent a script, and the person, like a lazy app, did not read the script until this person apparently arrived in Montana and then did a day of work and then went home and read the script and then wanted to quit and went to our producer, Dell Sonier, and said, I want to quit.
00:07:20.000 And Dell said, Okay.
00:07:22.000 And then we flew her home.
00:07:24.000 That apparently is the entire story.
00:07:25.000 But here is how that is played by IndieWire An ICE agent can cover their face while doing their job, but a crew member's name remains affixed to a film long after it wraps with credits shaping the opportunities that come next.
00:07:36.000 Taking direction as part of the gig, of course.
00:07:38.000 But knowing how to execute a scene isn't the same as knowing what story you've agreed to tell or whose politics your work might serve.
00:07:44.000 Well, excuse me.
00:07:45.000 You were told the log line.
00:07:46.000 You were told for whom you worked.
00:07:47.000 And then you were given a copy of the script and then you quit and there were no consequences.
00:07:50.000 So what exactly is the big deal here?
00:07:53.000 Apparently, it's a huge deal.
00:07:54.000 According to Indiewire, the worker who spoke to Indiewire says the problem began earlier with what they say they weren't told about.
00:08:03.000 Quote, I was asked my availability, was told it was a fun action movie in downtown Livingston.
00:08:06.000 Great crew, great whatever.
00:08:07.000 That was the whole pitch.
00:08:08.000 So, I said, Yep, I'm available.
00:08:10.000 The crew member said they requested the script and specific information needed for their role, but did not receive substantive details about the film subject until well after taking the gig.
00:08:18.000 If I had known this, I would not have even accepted the job, they said.
00:08:22.000 So, the log line was in fact available.
00:08:25.000 The employer was in fact available.
00:08:28.000 The company making the film was in fact available.
00:08:30.000 And then this person, again, got the script, had it a week before arriving apparently in Montana, we are told, and didn't read it, and then got there and then read it and quit.
00:08:39.000 That's the whole story.
00:08:40.000 But, you know, you're a victim.
00:08:42.000 If you are too stupid to read the script that you are actually handed, you're the victim.
00:08:48.000 Even if we.
00:08:50.000 And again, then the script was leaked.
00:08:52.000 I wonder why home to the media just shows you that when it comes to Hollywood productions and free speech, again, it tends to only cut in one direction.
00:09:02.000 What an amazing video you just watched.
00:09:03.000 Wasn't that amazing?
