00:00:00.000 You are listening to The Blueprint, Canada's Conservative Podcast.
00:00:09.040 Is the Prime Minister actually saying that taxpayers should be on the hook when he breaks the law?
00:00:20.420 What is it going to take for the Prime Minister to have any respect for any laws in this country that may curb his out-of-control behaviour?
00:00:30.000 All these deficits leading to nothing but burying Canadians in taxes.
00:00:41.000 Wow, my friends, what a crowd. I don't think I've ever been to a convention this large ever.
00:00:47.000 Thank you to the great people of Nova Scotia and to the organizers, volunteers here tonight.
00:01:00.000 Most of all, I want to thank all of you.
00:01:05.000 And thank you for the warm welcome.
00:01:13.000 What a great, energetic crowd.
00:01:16.000 It takes me right back to the exciting rallies we held during our recent election here in Ontario.
00:01:24.000 And by the way, who's here from Ontario?
00:01:31.000 Wow, all right.
00:01:34.000 And how many of you have worked on our great campaign?
00:01:37.000 To all the hard-working Ontario Conservatives who helped us make history on June the 7th,
00:01:46.000 from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. I thank you. I thank you.
00:01:55.000 Because, my friends, we did it.
00:01:58.000 And after 15 years of the Liberal government in Ontario,
00:02:02.000 15 years of scandals, 15 years of out-of-control spending,
00:02:08.000 and 15 years of waste in management.
00:02:14.000 My friends, big taxes, big deficits, and big government.
00:02:21.000 Change has finally come to our province.
00:02:28.000 And a new day has dawned in Ontario.
00:02:31.000 Ontario now has a government that is truly for the people.
00:02:36.000 I spend a lot of time talking to Ontarians,
00:02:43.000 but tonight I also want to speak to those of you outside of our province,
00:02:50.000 including the folks watching at home tonight.
00:02:54.000 I have a message to all of you across our great country.
00:02:58.000 Those of you who are worried about finding a job or keeping a job.
00:03:04.000 Those who are worried about paying the mortgage or rent,
00:03:08.000 or paying the bills because taxes are too high,
00:03:12.000 or because the skyrocketing gas prices.
00:03:16.000 Those of you who are worried about your future,
00:03:20.000 or your children's future,
00:03:23.000 because we live in uncertain times.
00:03:26.000 I have a message for all of you.
00:03:29.000 Stay strong.
00:03:31.000 Help is on its way.
00:03:33.000 The next election is one that Conservatives can win.
00:03:48.000 It's an election that we must win.
00:03:52.000 And it's an election I believe we will win.
00:03:57.000 We will win in part because of the all-star talent that I see right in front of me tonight.
00:04:13.000 Right here in this room, all-star talent that is led by our leader, Andrew Scheer.
00:04:22.000 Oh, I love the tone of that.
00:04:48.000 I'll tell you, we're going to hear that more often over the next little while.
00:04:52.000 And talent that we find in hard-working volunteers all across the Conservative Party of Canada.
00:04:59.000 My friends, the heavy lifting for that very election starts today.
00:05:06.000 And it starts right here.
00:05:09.000 One of the reasons, and one of the reasons we won in Ontario is because we refuse to be out-hustled.
00:05:24.000 We refuse to be out-worked.
00:05:27.000 With the odds stacked against us, with hard work and unrelenting effort, we pulled off a winning campaign in only five weeks to prepare.
00:05:40.000 More importantly, my friends, we won the election because we stayed true to our values and principles, because we refused to back down.
00:05:59.000 We didn't listen to the elites or the academics and the pundits.
00:06:08.000 We didn't listen to the political insiders, the special interests or the professional activists.
00:06:15.000 And I can tell you, my friends, we sure didn't listen to the media.
00:06:29.000 We stood up to those who spent the entire campaign trying to get us to apologize for being conservative.
00:06:38.000 We stood up to those who told us it couldn't be done and that it shouldn't be done.
00:06:46.000 The naysayers and critics, we forged ahead not listening to any of them.
00:06:52.000 But you know who we did listen to?
00:06:55.000 We listened to the people.
00:06:57.000 We were the only ones listening to the people because the people have had enough.
00:07:10.000 They have had enough for the high taxes, enough for the waste, scandal and mismanagement,
00:07:17.000 enough for the lies and deceit, enough of a government telling them how to live their lives or how to run their businesses.
00:07:26.000 My friends, it sure sounds like the federal government we have today.
00:07:37.000 Throughout the election, we campaigned on our principles.
00:07:41.000 We stayed the course and we didn't back down and we won.
00:07:46.000 And yet, even when we won, they still said we couldn't do what we campaigned on.
00:07:53.000 That we wouldn't be able to keep our promises.
00:07:57.000 They said we couldn't possibly clean up the Hydro One mess.
00:08:02.000 And we did it.
00:08:04.000 They said we couldn't...
00:08:07.000 They said we couldn't possibly cancel Kathleen Wynne's green energy scam.
00:08:13.000 And it's the biggest scam you've ever seen.
00:08:15.000 And we did it.
00:08:16.000 They said we couldn't fight the liberal cap and trade carbon tax.
00:08:30.000 And we are doing it right now.
00:08:34.000 And that is my message to you tonight.
00:08:41.000 You can win when you campaign with conviction.
00:08:45.000 When you run on your values.
00:08:48.000 But most importantly, when you stand by the people.
00:08:52.000 The people will stand by you.
00:08:55.000 In Ontario, we built a coalition of voters like never before.
00:09:07.000 People from all walks of life.
00:09:10.000 Every background.
00:09:11.000 Every religion.
00:09:12.000 From every part of our province.
00:09:14.000 We attracted voters from other parties.
00:09:17.000 And many others who had never voted before in their lives.
00:09:22.000 But my friends, it does not come easy.
00:09:26.000 It will take effort and discipline.
00:09:29.000 And most importantly, you will need to stand together.
00:09:34.000 And you need to stand with your leader.
00:09:52.000 Because the liberals will try to divide us.
00:10:06.000 They will try to define us. 0.95
00:10:08.000 Don't let them do it.
00:10:10.000 They will try to force you to apologize for being a conservative.
00:10:15.000 They attack us because the only other option is to talk about their record.
00:10:21.000 And no wonder they are terrified right now.
00:10:29.000 It won't be easy when the left is losing.
00:10:32.000 They start name-calling, mudslinging, the slander.
00:10:36.000 Get ready for it.
00:10:38.000 It's all they have, my friends.
00:10:40.000 But we won't let them detract from their record.
00:10:44.000 We won't let them divide us or distract us.
00:10:47.000 We will hold their feet to the fire.
00:10:50.000 And make them accountable for their bad, terrible policies that we've seen over the years.
00:10:57.000 And we will start with the goal of stopping their punishing carbon tax.
00:11:03.000 It is absolutely the worst tax ever created.
00:11:19.000 A tax that does nothing for the environment but hurts families, individuals, and businesses.
00:11:26.000 It's nothing more than a government tax grab out of each and every one of your pockets.
00:11:39.000 It makes gas more expensive.
00:11:41.000 It makes home heating more expensive.
00:11:44.000 And it makes everything more expensive.
00:11:48.000 It's absolutely a shame.
00:11:50.000 I agree.
00:11:51.000 A carbon tax will force small businesses to close their doors, lay off workers, and stop investment.
00:12:00.000 It is the most regressive tax in Canadian history.
00:12:05.000 But we will not, we will not sit by idly.
00:12:10.000 We stood up to the Liberals in Ontario and won.
00:12:14.000 And together, Ontario will stand with like-minded provinces and with all of you
00:12:22.000 to fight Justin Trudeau and his carbon tax with every tool at our disposal.
00:12:29.000 We have some great allies out there like Brad Wall and Scott Moe in Saskatchewan.
00:12:57.000 They're absolute champions.
00:13:01.000 And I am confident we will soon be joined by our friend, Jason Kenney in Alberta.
00:13:26.000 We will take the fight beyond the courts and to the people.
00:13:30.000 We will not give an inch, not a single inch.
00:13:34.000 I also want to address something that is very serious and where the stakes are very high.
00:13:40.000 It's beyond any partisan politics or differences of opinion.
00:13:45.000 where hundreds of thousands of jobs are at stake.
00:13:49.000 I sincerely, and I mean sincerely, hope the federal government can get a deal on NAFTA.
00:13:56.000 I really do.
00:13:57.000 And we are doing our part in Ontario to help get the deal done.
00:14:08.000 I've been burning up the phone lines talking to U.S. Governors about our vital trade relationship
00:14:16.000 and what it means for jobs and prosperity on both sides of the border.
00:14:21.000 And just this week, I met with the U.S. Ambassador to Canada expressing the same concern.
00:14:28.000 Free and fair trade with the United States has to succeed.
00:14:35.000 My friends, our economy, our way of life depends on it, and we will keep taking the message to our U.S. counterparts.
00:14:53.000 I want to thank you for having me here tonight, and I wish all of you great success going forward.
00:15:00.000 And as you look towards the upcoming campaign, please remember,
00:15:06.000 we won in Ontario because we listened to the people and because we stayed true to our principles.
00:15:13.000 And you can do it too with a great leader and future Prime Minister, Andrew Scheer.
00:15:23.000 It's about time that we had a federal government that will stand with the people.
00:15:53.000 A new national conservative government ready to lead our country in 2019.
00:16:01.000 The election is yours to win. The future is in your hands.
00:16:07.000 Change is coming to Canada. And as I've always said, a new day is dawned in Ontario.
00:16:14.000 And a new day will dawn in Canada. A day of hope. A day of prosperity. A day of opportunity.
00:16:22.000 The likes of which this country has never seen. Thank you. God bless you. Help is on the way.
