00:00:00.000 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has lost control of the country.
00:00:03.020 Invoking the Emergency Act confirms this.
00:00:05.480 I'm Candace Malcolm, and this is The Candace Malcolm Show.
00:00:12.000 Everyone, thank you so much for tuning into the podcast.
00:00:14.460 So yesterday afternoon at 4.30, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emerged from his cave wherever
00:00:19.720 he's been hiding out.
00:00:20.800 He had been completely absent for most of the weekend.
00:00:23.400 As the third weekend of protests continued, he emerged and he let us know that he was,
00:00:28.140 in fact, as reported by the CBC, invoking the Emergency Act.
00:00:31.980 This is the first time this act has ever been invoked.
00:00:34.000 It is a follow-up of the War Measures Act, which was used by his father during the FLQ
00:00:38.560 crisis in the 1970s.
00:00:40.360 Prior to that, the only time this has ever been invoked is during wartime, during World
00:00:44.120 War I and World War II.
00:00:45.720 So my colleagues at Nitro North, we did a live reaction show yesterday.
00:00:49.200 I was joined by journalists Andrew Lawton and Harley Sims, and we broke down exactly what's
00:00:53.420 happening and gave our live reaction.
00:00:54.880 So go check out that video because it has a lot of great information in it.
00:00:59.260 So let me just reiterate this point.
00:01:01.120 Justin Trudeau has lost control of the country.
00:01:04.200 That's not an opinion.
00:01:05.540 That is a fact.
00:01:06.800 Declaring a national emergency, invoking the Emergency Act means by definition that Justin
00:01:11.780 Trudeau has lost control.
00:01:13.620 Let me read from the act.
00:01:14.740 So here it is.
00:01:15.320 It says, for the purpose of this act, a national emergency is an urgent and critical situation
00:01:19.920 of a temporary nature that A, seriously endangers the lives, health, or safety of Canadians and
00:01:25.720 is of such proportions or nature as to exceed the capacity or authority of a province to
00:01:31.380 deal with, or it seriously threatens the ability of the government of Canada to preserve the
00:01:36.520 sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Canada, and that cannot be effectively dealt
00:01:42.580 with under any other law of Canada.
00:01:44.740 So does Canada right now meet that definition?
00:01:48.380 Is the trucker convoy seriously endangering the live health and safety of Canadians to
00:01:53.580 the proportion that exceeds the capacity of our laws to deal with?
00:01:57.120 Does the convoy threaten the ability of the government of Canada to preserve the sovereignty,
00:02:01.860 security, and territorial integrity of Canada?
00:02:05.020 Well, by no means is that the case.
00:02:07.600 This is not a terrorist insurrection.
00:02:09.320 It's not a siege or an illegal occupation, no matter what the CBC tells you.
00:02:13.560 This, by contrast, is a block party.
00:02:17.260 It is a family block party in Ottawa with music, street food, bouncy castles, and street
00:02:22.860 hockey.
00:02:23.540 This is what it looks like.
00:02:25.640 Irregardless of what faith you're from, what caste, creed, religion, doesn't matter.
00:02:30.700 It's about the community kitchen.
00:02:32.880 We all eat as one and humanity's equal.
00:02:35.880 So the SEVA concept, helping the community, is what we're practicing here today.
00:02:40.920 We're here alongside the truckers in the fight for freedom, and we're doing our part from
00:02:46.100 the sick faith.
00:02:47.260 And we welcome everyone to come and have some samosas, some tea, and some french fries.
00:02:53.160 These cheerful, patriotic, fun-loving Canadians do not pose a threat to national security.
00:02:58.920 So why on earth is Justin Trudeau doing this?
00:03:02.200 Is it because he does not have the law enforcement tools at his disposal to deal with the peaceful
00:03:06.080 protesters and the odd act of civil disobedience?
00:03:09.040 Well, let's examine those facts.
00:03:11.020 The truckers have been in Ottawa for just over two weeks.
00:03:13.960 They create a nuisance with their horns and with their trucks.
00:03:16.840 And so, in response, Ottawa residents went to court, and a court ordered the truckers to
00:03:21.380 stop honking their horns.
00:03:22.940 The truckers complied.
00:03:24.120 No problem.
00:03:24.620 They stopped.
00:03:25.220 Many of the truckers then left Ottawa, some headed to the Ambassador Bridge that connects
00:03:29.060 Windsor, Ontario, with Detroit, Michigan.
00:03:31.180 This is an incredibly important trade route.
00:03:33.280 It connects the auto industry.
00:03:35.200 This one bridge represents about 25% of all Canada-U.S. trade.
00:03:39.200 Well, the truckers intermittently blocked the bridge.
00:03:41.960 And as you can see, in real time, the Americans downplayed it.
00:03:45.260 Here is U.S. President Joe Biden's press secretary, Jen Psaki, downplaying the impact of the protest.
00:03:51.500 She says it's causing sporadic congestion and blockades and causing minor disruptions.
00:03:57.160 Here's what that looked like.
00:03:58.340 Well, let me first start by saying I know there's been some suggestion, not by reporters
00:04:02.640 necessarily at all, but that this congestion is related to the vaccine requirements.
00:04:07.800 It's not.
00:04:08.520 I mean, I'm saying I'm going to get to the protests.
00:04:10.780 But the protests going on across Canada, which have spread to a bridge, are leading to sporadic
00:04:16.140 congestion and blockages.
00:04:17.760 So that was last Tuesday, February 8th, and then on Friday, February 11th at 7 p.m., there
00:04:23.860 was another court injunction in Windsor, this time to clear the bridge completely.
00:04:28.000 So according to a city news reporter who was there on the ground, this initially led to
00:04:33.380 a bigger protest.
00:04:34.500 So he writes this, the court-ordered injunction at the Ambassador Bridge has kicked in, and
00:04:38.740 there's more protesters there now than at any point this week.
00:04:41.400 They're streaming in by the dozens.
00:04:43.140 It's hard to see the police stepping in at this hour with so many people here celebrating
00:04:46.560 and carrying on.
00:04:48.040 So again, these people are celebrating.
00:04:49.700 These people are jovial and happy and patriotic and proud.
00:04:53.380 They're not a menace.
00:04:54.240 They're not a threat.
00:04:55.780 They're not posing a threat to Canada's national security.
00:04:58.680 Another reporter, Sean O'Shea from Global News, was on the scene as well.
00:05:02.040 He tweeted a long thread complaining that the police weren't breaking up the protests fast
00:05:06.720 enough or with enough force.
00:05:08.780 So he writes this, observations from covering the Ambassador Bridge protest for the week.
00:05:14.380 The actual protesters were loud, relatively few in number, professed defiance, but when
00:05:18.700 pushed, all left without struggle.
00:05:20.880 No weapons, no real pushback.
00:05:23.760 And this is how it all ended.
00:05:25.380 Police spent the rest of the day on the roadway, asserting authority, telling people on foot
00:05:29.160 to leave.
00:05:29.840 They threatened to tow vehicles, including ours, from a shopping plaza lot.
00:05:33.660 Then it snowed a lot.
00:05:34.780 A few more arrests, by about 11 p.m., the bridge had reopened.
00:05:38.920 So here is a clip of the force that they used in order to clear the bridge.
00:06:04.780 So it took some force.
00:06:18.880 It took a little bit more than 24 hours.
00:06:20.900 But the bridge was cleared.
00:06:22.700 Crisis averted.
00:06:23.740 Blockade removed.
00:06:24.840 A few arrests.
00:06:25.880 No violence.
00:06:26.640 No injuries.
00:06:27.580 That is a policing success.
00:06:30.100 Our economy, an important trade route, and our border integrity remain intact.
00:06:35.140 So why then, less than 36 hours later, would Justin Trudeau take such a drastic measure?
00:06:41.140 Why would he use every single tool at his disposal as prime minister of the country to try to quell
00:06:47.300 and squash these protests?
00:06:49.100 Did something else happen?
00:06:50.700 Well, there were a lot more peaceful protests over the weekend.
00:06:53.820 Here's a scene in Ottawa.
00:06:54.800 Now, I want to walk you through this situation.
00:06:57.480 The media disingenuously reported that protesters were moving the barricades around the war memorial
00:07:02.900 so they could desecrate it.
00:07:04.560 Here are some tweets saying exactly that.
00:07:06.900 Abigail Brimham from Global News, she writes,
00:07:09.340 Police set up barricades around the war memorial after the first weekend of the convoy protests
00:07:13.660 after incidents of people dancing and partying on the monument.
00:07:17.040 Next, Mackenzie Gray from CTV wrote,
00:07:19.020 Protesters have ripped down the barriers set up at the war memorial.
00:07:24.240 They were up because people were using the war memorial as a toilet and jumping on the tomb of the unknown soldier.
00:07:30.300 That's completely untrue.
00:07:31.500 But regardless, Gord Miller jumped in from TSN.
00:07:34.240 He wrote this,
00:07:34.880 Next, Marrakeem Walsh from the Globe and Mail wrote,
00:07:49.880 In Ottawa on Saturday, police stood by and watched as dozens of demonstrators tore down the fence around the National War Memorial
00:07:57.240 before gathering around the monument dedicated to Canada's war dead.
00:08:01.100 So what did this horrible mob do?
00:08:04.840 Why did they tear down the barricades?
00:08:06.920 What kind of despicable desecration did they do next?
00:08:10.400 What was it that left TSN's Gord Miller sad and angry beyond words?
00:08:15.300 Okay, well, it turns out the people who removed the barriers were a group of veterans
00:08:20.500 that wanted to pay their respect to Canada's war dead and to pray.
00:08:25.260 Here is what they actually did.
00:08:27.060 Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be done again.
00:08:31.620 Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
00:08:36.040 God, keep our land glorious and free.
00:08:44.880 Oh, Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
00:08:53.860 Oh, Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
00:09:06.540 There were no corrections from the media.
00:09:08.380 They didn't bother to tell you what happened next.
00:09:10.420 Look, there were plenty of people having a good time, partying, dancing, playing music.
00:09:15.440 You and I may have seen this as a joyous act of patriotism,
00:09:19.420 fun-loving Canadians claiming what is rightfully theirs, their freedom.
00:09:22.900 They want their freedoms back.
00:09:24.580 And what better way to take them back than to exercise them freely, defiantly,
00:09:29.500 right in front of Parliament, the home of our democracy.
00:09:33.000 You and I may see that as a beautiful thing,
00:09:35.380 but you and I see things differently than the Ottawa establishment.
00:09:38.080 They see it as sedition.
00:09:40.560 Yes, sedition.
00:09:41.980 That is what the former governor of the Bank of Canada, Mark Carney,
00:09:45.500 the Liberal Party's current it boy, Mark Carney,
00:09:47.980 that is what he called it in the pages of the Globe and Mail.
00:09:51.260 Likewise, Bob Fyfe, who is the Ottawa bureau chief for the Globe and Mail,
00:09:54.960 he called it anarchy.
00:09:56.660 Here's his tweet showing a stage with people partying.
00:10:00.360 Anarchy reigns in downtown Ottawa in front of our Parliament.
00:10:03.660 Horrifying, horrifying.
00:10:04.780 Arrest them, demanded Althea Raj on Twitter,
00:10:08.140 Althea Raj with the CBC and of the Toronto Star.
00:10:12.140 See, the media continued to exaggerate what was happening in Ottawa
00:10:14.940 and demand that the police round these people up and arrest them.
00:10:20.160 These hypocrites suddenly claimed to care about small businesses being able to operate
00:10:24.320 after spending two years telling us that we must remain under lockdown
00:10:28.360 and that we must shut down small businesses all for the good of public health.
00:10:32.380 After spending two weeks screaming and yelling about illegal blockades
00:10:36.320 and demanding that truckers be arrested for blocking roads,
00:10:39.460 well, suddenly the same group of Trudeau cheerleaders were suddenly applauding a blockade.
00:10:44.760 Yes, applauding a different blockade.
00:10:46.360 A group of government employees, some waving their union's CUPE flag,
00:10:49.920 descended from their million-dollar home in the neighbourhood of the Glebe,
00:10:53.000 an upscale Ottawa area comprised almost entirely of diplomats and bureaucrats,
00:10:57.840 while they blocked the street to block the truckers.
00:11:00.020 So this was a righteous blockade, and the Ottawa establishment cheered them on.
00:11:05.020 Here's Bruce Anderson, a liberal pollster and former CBC talking head.
00:11:08.900 He wrote,
00:11:09.620 One victory at a time, showing footage of this blockade.
00:11:13.420 There were many more journalists cheering it on.
00:11:15.880 Interestingly, this counter-protest rally featured evil flags,
00:11:19.860 like that of the former USSR,
00:11:21.480 a regime responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people.
00:11:25.260 There were hateful signs as well, like this one,
00:11:27.560 where a radicalized Trudeau supporter wrote,
00:11:31.020 kill the anti-vax.
00:11:32.980 That's a bit extreme, don't you think?
00:11:34.720 Well, if we've learned anything about how the legacy media cover large protests,
00:11:39.440 it is that they always judge the entire group by the craziest people who show up.
00:11:44.760 So if one guy has a hammer and sickle flag, the logic goes,
00:11:48.120 that means that everyone in the group supports murderous communism.
00:11:52.040 If one person in the group has a sign calling for violence and calling for murder,
00:11:57.120 that means that the entire group condones political violence and genocide.
00:12:01.220 That's how it works, right?
00:12:02.280 That's the standard.
00:12:03.440 Well, of course not.
00:12:04.500 That's only the standard for people that journalists hate.
00:12:07.740 People like you and me and the truckers.
00:12:10.440 The pro-Trudeau counter-protesters are part of the Ottawa establishment.
00:12:14.020 They're mostly bureaucrats.
00:12:15.260 They believe in Trudeau's science,
00:12:17.040 and you can tell because they're all wearing masks,
00:12:18.740 even though they're outside, and even though most people now have natural immunity from Omicron.
00:12:24.160 So, of course, they get away with saying the craziest things,
00:12:26.640 and the media completely give them a pass.
00:12:29.140 But the protests are no longer just in Ottawa.
00:12:31.740 They have spread across the country.
00:12:33.800 Here's a scene in beautiful British Columbia,
00:12:36.300 outside the provincial parliament building.
00:12:38.740 Brian Peckford, the former premier of Newfoundland
00:12:40.840 and the last living signer of Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms,
00:12:44.040 joined the Freedom Convoy and gave an incredibly powerful speech
00:12:47.680 about what it means to be Canadians
00:12:49.380 and what our Charter of Rights actually means.
00:12:52.120 Here's what that looked like.
00:12:53.120 We're not going to allow this nation on the northern part of North America
00:12:58.940 to go down the drain because we have people who've gotten hungry for power
00:13:04.420 and have discarded the individual freedoms that you and I own.
00:13:09.000 They are ours.
00:13:15.580 There's none, two of us the same.
00:13:17.440 That's why individual rights and freedoms are so important, right?
00:13:20.820 Because it's you as a person, you as an individual,
00:13:24.560 not you as a family, not you as a group, okay?
00:13:27.880 Not you as part of some other organization,
00:13:30.340 not you as part of the province.
00:13:31.760 It's you as an individual Canadian.
00:13:34.940 Possess these rights.
00:13:37.740 That's what's important.
00:13:45.580 He's absolutely right.
00:13:47.540 So these protests continued in cities across the country.
00:13:50.320 They were peaceful.
00:13:51.340 They were positive.
00:13:52.260 They were patriotic.
00:13:53.300 And this time, there were no evil flags.
00:13:56.000 So Trudeau could no longer simply dismiss the entire group as Nazis.
00:13:59.700 So what did Trudeau do?
00:14:01.720 Well, he invoked the Emergencies Act,
00:14:03.780 the most sweeping set of powers available to a prime minister,
00:14:06.720 the act that replaced the War Measures Act.
00:14:08.920 This came just 18 days after he dismissed the movement as a small fringe minority.
00:14:14.460 So why did Justin Trudeau do this?
00:14:15.800 Well, I think there were three reasons.
00:14:17.560 One, to appease the Ottawa establishment and delight his friends in the media.
00:14:22.280 Two, to crack down on decentralized crowdfunding.
00:14:26.120 And three, to compel the police to do his dirty work.
00:14:29.360 Let's go through those three reasons right now.
00:14:30.960 So the first reason, appeasing the Ottawa establishment.
00:14:34.660 The loudest and most deranged critics of the convoy throughout the entire process
00:14:39.140 have been the legacy media journalists in Ottawa, the Parliamentary Press Gallery.
00:14:43.440 Last night, after Trudeau invoked emergency powers for the first time since the FLQ crisis,
00:14:48.440 an actual crisis in the 1970s where domestic terrorist separatists were bombing buildings,
00:14:53.900 kidnapping cabinet ministers, and murdering people,
00:14:57.000 Trudeau invoked it.
00:14:57.920 And how did the media react?
00:14:58.900 What did they do?
00:14:59.820 Well, first, they hosted a Twitter space hosted by the Canadian Association of Journalists,
00:15:04.960 called this, I kid you not, the mainstream media versus the trucker convoy.
00:15:09.700 They aptly pitted themselves against the convoy plain as day,
00:15:13.580 in case you had any doubt about what side they were on.
00:15:16.240 I listened to a bit of the panel as much as I could stomach,
00:15:18.380 and the focus wasn't on Justin Trudeau's excessive power grab.
00:15:22.460 It wasn't by the excessive use of force, the abuse of power, the unprecedented nature of using this act.
00:15:28.580 No, they didn't talk about that at all.
00:15:30.180 Instead, they focused on how journalists were the victim,
00:15:33.560 how they had to deal with mean people on the internet,
00:15:35.580 and how some people were starting to question their authority.
00:15:39.120 It was so pathetic.
00:15:40.340 What a farce.
00:15:41.620 On top of their own pity party,
00:15:42.780 many journalists were actively turning into liberal party fact checkers.
00:15:47.880 So the New York Times correctly reported that Trudeau was suspending civil liberties.
00:15:52.800 This is what the New York Times wrote.
00:15:54.440 Declaring a national public order emergency is Trudeau's most aggressive response since the crisis began.
00:15:59.960 The move will allow him to temporarily suspend civil liberties to reopen border crossings
00:16:04.480 and clear the blockade of about 400 trucks in Ottawa.
00:16:08.160 Well, immediately, the establishment journalists called foul.
00:16:11.780 Rosemary Barton angrily tweeted,
00:16:13.960 This is completely false.
00:16:15.600 In no way does this suspend civil liberties.
00:16:17.880 Good grief.
00:16:19.120 Likewise, Gerald Butts writes this.
00:16:21.000 He says,
00:16:21.820 This is incorrect, New York Times.
00:16:23.580 The charter is specifically upheld in the statue the government is invoking.
00:16:28.940 Well, the New York Times dutifully deleted the tweet and issued a correction.
00:16:32.740 They wrote this.
00:16:33.460 Correction.
00:16:33.900 An earlier tweet incorrectly suggested that Trudeau would temporarily suspend civil liberties.
00:16:38.740 We deleted the incorrect tweet.
00:16:41.020 How is it incorrect?
00:16:42.180 I don't understand.
00:16:43.080 Peter McRaffey, who runs a civil liberties think tank over in Calgary, he wrote this.
00:16:48.140 They can close your bank account and seize your assets without a court order.
00:16:52.700 That's literally the definition of suspending civil liberties.
00:16:56.140 How are these people the ones reporting the news?
00:16:58.940 Great question.
00:17:00.060 Peter.
00:17:00.680 Of course, he's right.
00:17:01.560 Peter is right.
00:17:02.120 But the journalists don't want anyone to know, especially Americans, especially readers
00:17:06.480 of the New York Times.
00:17:07.400 They don't want them to know how bad things have gotten in Canada and how much Trudeau
00:17:11.220 is abusing his power.
00:17:12.700 So they lie to protect their man.
00:17:14.680 Here is what the Emergencies Act actually does.
00:17:17.120 This is according to a Globe and Mail summary.
00:17:18.860 Under the law, the federal government will strengthen police powers to impose fines and imprison people, compel
00:17:25.080 tow truck companies to help clear blockades, allow banks to freeze the personal and corporate
00:17:30.140 accounts of individual protesters without a court order, and subject crowdfunding companies
00:17:35.180 to anti-money laundering and terrorist financing rules.
00:17:38.880 And again, in case you had any doubt, here is a clip of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland explaining
00:17:43.860 just exactly how they will suspend your civil liberties.
00:17:47.360 Here's that clip.
00:17:48.080 As of today, a bank or other financial service provider will be able to immediately freeze
00:17:56.420 or suspend an account without a court order.
00:18:01.080 We are today serving notice.
00:18:03.300 If your truck is being used in these illegal blockades, your corporate accounts will be frozen.
00:18:13.000 The insurance on your vehicle will be suspended.
00:18:18.260 Send your semi-trailers home.
00:18:20.940 So they just repeat over and over again that what you're doing is illegal.
00:18:24.020 They start calling you terrorists.
00:18:25.640 And soon enough, the laws start to apply to you that way.
00:18:28.220 It's all pretty terrifying.
00:18:29.340 This brings us to the second reason why Trudeau is doing this, to crack down on conservative
00:18:33.760 crowdfunding.
00:18:34.620 You see, just like how the court orders successfully stopped the honking and cleared the Ambassador
00:18:39.560 Bridge, Trudeau already possesses the power to shut down crowdfunding.
00:18:43.820 They did it to GoFundMe, who caved easily to the slightest bit of political pressure and
00:18:48.500 stole $10 million from the truckers.
00:18:50.740 Initially, they said they were going to redirect it to charities of their choosing.
00:18:53.520 Then they decided to just issue refunds.
00:18:55.340 Well, likewise, when an alternative fundraising campaign began under a site called GiveSendGo,
00:19:01.220 an alternative to GoSendMe, they also raised $10 million.
00:19:04.300 And that money was also stolen, this time by an Ontario court.
00:19:08.740 About a million dollars of that money had already been distributed to the truckers.
00:19:12.340 But then it was reported that TD Bank, again, using the help of an Ontario judge, froze the
00:19:18.020 bank accounts and stole that money too.
00:19:20.300 So the money isn't even getting through to the truckers.
00:19:22.880 So why would Trudeau need to invoke emergency powers to stop this?
00:19:27.300 Well, because the truckers are one step ahead.
00:19:29.460 They started to look at decentralized cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin as a way to raise money.
00:19:34.940 And the government has no control over this area.
00:19:37.020 By design, the whole purpose of cryptocurrency is that it's decentralized and is not controlled
00:19:41.040 by the government.
00:19:42.300 Well, this was not good enough.
00:19:43.680 So Justin Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland are using the full force of the Canadian government
00:19:47.660 to stop their political opponents from being able to raise funds.
00:19:52.180 This is very scary, unprecedented stuff.
00:19:54.820 Finally, the third reason why Justin Trudeau is doing this, to compel others to do his
00:19:59.480 dirty work, to compel them by force to do his dirty work.
00:20:02.120 The police are not arresting people fast enough for the Ottawa journalists and the Ottawa
00:20:06.060 establishment.
00:20:07.380 Journalists have spent weeks now screaming and protesting and complaining on Twitter that
00:20:11.860 the police are not arresting the people that they want arrested.
00:20:15.480 The tow truck companies, likewise, have said that they simply refuse to tow the trucks.
00:20:19.220 Why?
00:20:19.460 Well, because they agree with the truckers.
00:20:21.480 They're out there with the protesters.
00:20:22.780 They're celebrating their part of the movement.
00:20:24.600 They, too, want their freedoms back.
00:20:26.880 As do many police officers.
00:20:28.500 Did you see this clip over the weekend?
00:20:30.240 It triggered many, many Canadian journalists.
00:20:32.620 Many of them were angrily shouting about this and saying that this shows that the police
00:20:36.780 are not doing their job.
00:20:38.120 But to me, all it does is simply show that many police officers don't want to arrest the
00:20:43.200 protesters because they agree with them.
00:20:44.900 Here's that clip.
00:20:45.460 I support you guys 100%.
00:20:46.680 Thank you.
00:20:47.860 That's what we'd like to hear.
00:20:49.200 Awesome.
00:20:49.720 I haven't been to Ottawa.
00:20:50.620 A lot of us are.
00:20:51.640 Yeah.
00:20:51.900 We're nothing but great thanks for our protests.
00:20:53.800 Everybody's very polite, very thankful.
00:20:55.620 Yeah.
00:20:56.040 We keep her peaceful.
00:20:57.300 We just want to make sure that everybody's good.
00:20:58.280 Yeah.
00:20:58.500 And when you've got these lights going, you're causing a lot of confusion on the way.
00:21:00.900 Yeah.
00:21:01.360 Okay.
00:21:01.660 Okay.
00:21:02.500 Wait till you get there.
00:21:03.460 Yeah.
00:21:04.200 Fair enough.
00:21:05.060 Fair enough.
00:21:05.900 So we have truckers, some police officers, some members of the Canadian Armed Forces,
00:21:13.760 and the tow truck operators all on the same side.
00:21:16.760 They're all culturally aligned.
00:21:18.280 They don't like Justin Trudeau.
00:21:19.580 They don't agree with heavy-handed emergency measures.
00:21:22.460 And they're showing their own form of civil disobedience by noncompliance.
00:21:26.800 Well, Trudeau is furious about this.
00:21:28.440 He knows the truckers will never support him.
00:21:30.220 He's already smeared them.
00:21:31.620 He's maligned them.
00:21:32.600 He's gone too far.
00:21:33.580 And they will never forgive him.
00:21:34.700 But the problem for Trudeau is that his own side, the Ottawa establishment, is starting
00:21:39.220 to turn on him.
00:21:40.480 Trudeau has been absent.
00:21:41.600 He's been hiding.
00:21:42.540 And whenever he dares to show his face, he looks angry.
00:21:45.340 He looks a little deranged.
00:21:46.700 He looks divisive.
00:21:47.820 He smears his enemies.
00:21:48.980 He makes everything worse.
00:21:50.560 That's why only 16% of Canadians say that they would vote for him right now.
00:21:54.720 And even those who oppose the Freedom Convoy, even the people who support Justin Trudeau and
00:21:59.500 his mandates, they say that Trudeau is the most to blame for the situation getting
00:22:04.320 out of hand.
00:22:04.760 Trudeau is the most to blame.
00:22:07.040 So Trudeau needed to do something.
00:22:08.340 He needed to show some power, show some force.
00:22:10.940 He needed the protest to end.
00:22:12.600 He needed them to end right now.
00:22:14.560 So here he is, announcing that he will now compel tow trucks to do his dirty work.
00:22:20.180 One of the issues that we have seen is a challenge in getting tow trucks to actually show up to
00:22:26.960 bring out, to move these large rigs.
00:22:32.040 In Windsor, we relied on generous partnership with the Americans to be able to get tow trucks
00:22:42.980 to move the big trucks.
00:22:45.400 Now, with these measures that we've put in place, there will be an ability to compel,
00:22:52.220 for just compensation, tow truck owners and operators to actually do the jobs for which
00:22:59.280 they have contracts with various orders of government to keep highways and roads clear.
00:23:05.200 Trudeau said that this was his last resort.
00:23:07.640 Interesting, isn't it?
00:23:08.780 Trudeau refused to meet with the truckers.
00:23:10.560 That could have de-escalated the situation, but he refused.
00:23:13.720 He could have voted symbolically to come up with a timeline to drop COVID restrictions,
00:23:18.020 since that's ultimately what the truckers want.
00:23:20.320 It would have shown a willingness to listen, to compromise and to work across the aisle.
00:23:24.980 The Conservatives introduced a motion asking for just that, and Justin Trudeau voted against
00:23:30.000 it.
00:23:30.580 Here is an Ottawa establishment journalist, David Akin, who is the Bureau Chief over at Global
00:23:35.180 News, and he is making this exact point.
00:23:37.140 He writes this on Twitter.
00:23:38.040 I thought that the Conservative Party of Canada was making a very reasonable proposition to
00:23:42.460 the government, asking it to table a plan before February 28th, explaining how and when
00:23:47.200 federal vaccine mandates would end.
00:23:49.400 Not to end the mandates, just a plan to end them.
00:23:51.860 The Bloc and the Conservatives voted for it.
00:23:54.200 The NDP and the Liberals voted against it.
00:23:56.500 I should note that Liberal MP Joël Lightbound voted with the Conservatives and voted in favor
00:24:01.740 of this motion.
00:24:03.340 Well, instead, Trudeau voted against it.
00:24:05.180 He refused to budge even an inch.
00:24:08.280 So instead, he says he's willing to wage war against peaceful protesters, against moms
00:24:13.140 and dads, against people barbecuing, kids jumping in bouncy castles, people playing street hockey,
00:24:18.400 and impromptu dance parties on the streets in Ottawa.
00:24:22.080 Trudeau announced two weeks to flatten the protesters.
00:24:25.200 It's a huge gamble because it could lead to even more civil disobedience and even more protests,
00:24:29.460 or even worse, it could lead to violence, to very real violations of human rights and civil
00:24:35.020 liberties here in Canada.
00:24:36.540 Don't expect the legacy media to report the facts or tell you the truth.
00:24:40.060 They're too busy cheering on their man, Justin Trudeau.
00:24:42.840 True North will be there on the ground every step of the way, giving you wall-to-wall coverage
00:24:47.400 to report on this unprecedented abuse of power.
00:24:50.900 I'm Candice Malcolm, and this is The Candice Malcolm Show.
00:24:59.460 Thank you.
