00:02:20.000 It might have been arson.

00:02:21.000 It was probably human involvement.

00:02:23.000 85% of massive fires are human caused.

00:02:26.000 Was it somebody that was trying to start the fire or not?

00:02:29.000 We'll find out as time goes on.

00:02:31.000 But what's interesting is that the reaction to the fire has been awfully perplexing.

00:02:36.000 We were told it was no big deal.

00:02:37.000 We're showing some of the B roll.

00:02:39.000 Right now on screen, this looks like Pearl Harbor, and I'm not making a joke.

00:02:44.000 That looks like Pearl Harbor.

00:02:46.000 People in the water?

00:02:47.000 It looks like something out of a dystopian apocalypse film.

00:02:52.000 And it got worse this weekend as all of a sudden the quote unquote metaphorical and literal dust settled.

00:02:58.000 We realized that the entire southwestern part of the island of Maui basically looks like Dresden.

00:03:08.000 This is catastrophic damage, unfathomable.

00:03:13.000 Death toll.

00:03:14.000 We don't even know.

00:03:15.000 I mean, they're speculating a couple dozen people dead, but no, no, no.

00:03:19.000 It's going to be a lot more than that.

00:03:20.000 They're saying a thousand people are missing.

00:03:23.000 It's beyond comprehension.

00:03:26.000 So, first, let's just be very clear.

00:03:29.000 We need to be in an active mode of helping any way we possibly can our fellow Americans.

00:03:35.000 These are our fellow Americans.

00:03:37.000 And I'll be honest, I've not seen much about FEMA or federal response.

00:03:42.000 And I have a theory about this, and it's not a theory that's going to.

00:03:46.000 Make anybody feel good.

00:03:47.000 I have not seen this massive federal action.

00:03:50.000 There are already 96 people confirmed dead.

00:03:54.000 Now, Maui is home to a lot of different people, the oligarchs of our society Jeff Bezos, Oprah Winfrey, Jimmy Buffett, Mark Benioff from Salesforce, Howard Schultz from Starbucks.

00:04:06.000 Now, let me be very clear.

00:04:07.000 There's a lot of chatter.

00:04:09.000 People are saying, oh, Oprah started the fire.

00:04:10.000 Oprah did not start the fire, okay?

00:04:14.000 It's just people have been emailing me, Charlie, I think Oprah started the fire.

00:04:16.000 I don't think she started the fire.

00:04:18.000 I'm not a fan of Oprah.

00:04:20.000 However, if Oprah's property would have been burning, I guarantee you the federal response would have been way swifter.

00:04:28.000 That I can guarantee you.

00:04:31.000 But putting that aside, the tragedy is real.

00:04:34.000 But let's go back to one of our favorite questions that we ask on this program.

00:04:38.000 It's an old Latin phrase and it offers clarity.

00:04:45.000 Who benefits?

00:04:47.000 And that's a really sick question, isn't it?

00:04:49.000 Because no one should benefit from fires that destroy entire islands.

00:04:58.000 There should be no beneficiary of scorched earth.

00:05:02.000 But if you remember, tiny dancer Rahm Emanuel, former chief of staff to Barack Hussein Obama, who became mayor of Chicago, he famously said, You can never let any crisis go to waste.

00:05:17.000 The response to this fire feels as if it's been slow motion.

00:05:21.000 And it reminds me of COVID.

00:05:25.000 It reminds me when it was no big deal, it was fine.

00:05:29.000 Nancy Pelosi dancing in the streets.

00:05:33.000 Hugging people, saying it was racist to even call the Chinese New Year.

00:05:41.000 And we went from zero to 100 on COVID, not a big deal, to this is the biggest deal.

00:05:50.000 Almost allowing it to spread on the homeland so far.

00:05:54.000 Remember when Donald Trump stopped travel to China?

00:06:05.000 And then a couple of weeks later, it was not just a little bit of totalitarianism, it was the most authoritarianism we've ever seen in our lifetime.

00:06:16.000 We were lied about the containment of the fire, lied to.

00:06:21.000 Local officials said, oh, we have fires all the time.

00:06:24.000 No, you don't.

00:06:27.000 This is not just some localized fire.

00:06:29.000 I mean, you see the clips here, entire portions of the island are just.

00:06:35.000 Destroyed.

00:06:35.000 Locals are saying this is way worse on the ground than what the media are telling you.

00:06:40.000 And that's fascinating, isn't it?

00:06:42.000 Because it's the media's job usually to overhype suffering.

00:06:46.000 The media over exaggerates.

00:09:14.000 And it's so interesting because usually Joe Biden and the Democrats, they rush into a crisis to misrepresent it so they get more powerful.

00:15:55.000 Yeah, the tragic nature of this fire, which was made worse by 80 mile per hour gusty winds from the remnant of Hurricane Dora, took out telecommunications and they were fighting three other fires.

00:16:10.000 My understanding is a pretty robust siren system there, but it didn't work.

00:16:15.000 Was there a human failure or equipment failure or a little of both?

00:16:20.000 It's too early for me to tell.

00:16:21.000 Much of the equipment was destroyed with fire, and it's a very remote place.

00:16:28.000 And now, bubbling up in the media is blaming climate change.

00:20:02.000 So here's another interesting thing one of our largest military bases with quick reaction forces were just 100 miles away, but no aid nor rescue was deployed.

00:20:15.000 They didn't want to declare martial law, but I believe that the military can be used in temporary aid and humanitarian efforts domestically.

00:20:25.000 And if nothing else, they could have deployed the Navy to help the people that are sitting in the water for 12 hours while their homes burn.

00:20:34.000 So it's not as if that there was some sort of distant island where we did not have resources.

00:20:41.000 One of our largest military bases is literally in Honolulu, about under 100 miles away.

00:20:46.000 But why were no aid, no aid, no?

00:20:49.000 Rescue was deployed.

00:20:51.000 And allow me an opportunity to show you a pattern though.

00:20:55.000 COVID spreads, no one really cares until it becomes a super issue.

00:21:49.000 There are some other aspects to the Maui story that I find really interesting because Hawaii is so beautiful.

00:22:02.000 Now, I'm not one to argue for economic egalitarianism, but it is a place where you have proportion, unbelievable amount of bums in downtown Honolulu.

00:22:17.000 And you have the oligarchs of society literally purchasing islands.

00:22:22.000 And you look at the map, almost every major oligarch has property on the island, either Maui or Lanai or Honolulu.

00:22:34.000 This is the Brazilification of America, where the elites just purchase land and they purchase land and they purchase land.

00:22:40.000 And so, for example, Oprah owns properties all across the island of Maui, Owen Wilson does.

00:22:46.000 And I'm not faulting them.

00:22:47.000 I mean, if I was a plutocrat, I would buy property in Maui.

00:22:50.000 Are you kidding me?

00:22:51.000 There's nothing necessarily wrong with it, but it is somewhat unhealthy.

00:22:56.000 And it does beg the question now that the entire Western part of the island has been devastated, is this going to be a massive land grab opportunity for the oligarchs?

00:23:08.000 Or is the government going to come in and nationalize it?

00:24:05.000 Are they going to remake them as smart cities, the 2030 World Economic Forum agenda?

00:29:15.000 But what I think is important to just reemphasize is that our government tends to almost always overreact.

00:29:32.000 These are people that freak out because you use the wrong pronoun.

00:29:39.000 These are people that build entire political movements around micro, almost invisible issues.

00:29:49.000 So when they don't talk about something legitimate, that is very telling, and there's a reason for that.

00:30:19.000 So it's the deadliest wildfire in the United States in over a century.

00:30:22.000 And so there's some other issues here.

00:30:24.000 There were tinder dry conditions that were made more dangerous because of the spread of what's called tropical non-native grasses, such as guinea grass, that have grown to occupy about 1 million acres across the state.

00:30:37.000 These grasses are highly flammable.

00:30:39.000 They accumulate biomass, such as wood residue, during wet periods, creating dangerous conditions for firefighters.

00:30:45.000 Now, I would speculate, I don't know this, I'm just doing this off the cuff.

00:30:49.000 The reason that there was not any sort of forestry management was probably because of environmentalists.

00:30:55.000 That's almost always the case.

00:30:57.000 Is that if there are preconditions for mass fires, the radical environmentalists do not want you to move it.

00:31:04.000 And because of the lack of livestock, maybe also because of the move towards Fake meat and that cows somehow, cows farting leads to climate change.

00:31:14.000 That's actually something they believe that cows emit so much methane gas that they are contributing to climate change.

00:31:23.000 Change in land use in the past several decades, namely the decline in large scale agricultural and ranching operations, has resulted in thousands of acres of unmanaged fallow lands, he said.

00:31:34.000 So, ranch land in Hawaii has dropped 50% in recent decades, high land costs, high labor costs, and low productivity.

00:31:43.000 Not to mention the oligarchs that are flying in and purchasing all of Hawaii.

00:31:49.000 Here's an interesting question Will the richest people in society, Zuckerberg, Bezos, and others, will they now be given a green light to go purchase land that was previously owned by native born Hawaiians?

00:32:10.000 Is there now going to be a land rush for billionaire oligarchs and some of the most beautiful parts?

00:32:18.000 Oprah has purchased a thousand acres in Hawaii of old ranches and farms.

00:32:22.000 Now, I don't think she's ranching it, but that's an interesting question.
