00:00:00.000 Hey, everybody.
00:00:00.000 Today on the Charlie Kirk Show, Ted Cruz joins the program to talk about his new book, Unwoke.
00:00:05.000 We foreshadow some of the elections that are underway right now, and we also talk about the NBC News RNC debate.
00:00:12.000 Get involved with TurningPointUSA at tpusa.com.

00:00:22.000 Here we go.
00:00:23.000 Charlie, what you've done is incredible here.
00:00:25.000 Maybe Charlie Kirk is on the college campuses.
00:00:27.000 I want you to know we are lucky to have Charlie Kirk.
00:00:30.000 Charlie Kirk's running the White House, folks.
00:00:34.000 I want to thank Charlie.
00:00:35.000 He's an incredible guy.
00:00:36.000 His spirit, his love of this country.
00:00:37.000 He's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created.
00:00:43.000 Turning point USA.
00:00:44.000 We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country.
00:00:53.000 That's why we are here.
00:00:56.000 Brought to you by the Loan Experts I Trust, Andrew and Todd at Sierra Pacific Mortgage at andrewandTodd.com.
00:01:04.000 It's Election Day today in Kentucky.
00:01:07.000 It's across the country there's Election Day.
00:01:09.000 But if you are in Kentucky, go vote.
00:01:11.000 The governor's race is nearly tied.
00:01:13.000 I don't want to get your hopes up.
00:01:15.000 It might not turn out too well.
00:01:17.000 My gut tells me Bashir is probably going to win.
00:01:19.000 But if you're in Kentucky, you have to vote, vote, vote.
00:01:22.000 And let's prove all the polling and all the trends wrong.
00:01:24.000 Let's make Cameron the next governor of Kentucky.
00:01:27.000 And by the way, with the turtle, the Mitch glitch, you know, he's just, who knows?
00:01:32.000 If the turtle goes away, then the governor of Kentucky appoints the replacement.
00:01:38.000 And Virginia, we have an amazing opportunity, Glenn Young, who I praised on this show.
00:01:43.000 Glenn Young, if Glenn Young stays out of the presidential race and he's able to flip the Virginia House of Commons, big respect for Glenn Young.
00:01:55.000 Glenn Young's a smart guy.
00:01:57.000 He doesn't want to get DeSantis.
00:01:59.000 Is that a verb now?
00:02:01.000 DeSantis.
00:02:03.000 He's focusing on Virginia.
00:02:04.000 And you know, there's a lot of big, very powerful people that are trying to push Youngkin into the presidential race.
00:02:09.000 And he seems hesitant.
00:02:10.000 To his credit, he says, hey, let me focus on Virginia.
00:02:12.000 Let me focus on Virginia.
00:02:14.000 But I also think Yunkin knows that this is not his time.
00:02:17.000 This is a Trump time.
00:02:19.000 President Trump did not get a fair shake in 2020.
00:02:22.000 He was an excellent president.
00:02:23.000 The base is not moving.
00:02:25.000 I think Glenn Young is happy being a very, very successful governor of Virginia.
00:02:32.000 And so for that, I say, Glenn Young, if you are able to flip the Virginia state legislature and stay out of the presidential race and unite the tribes around Donald Trump, I'm going to be an enthusiastic supporter for Glenn Young.
00:02:47.000 Wise, not dividing the party, and also maybe putting forward a red print of how to win in blue states.
00:02:54.000 We'll see.
00:02:54.000 We'll see how tonight goes.
00:02:56.000 But early indicators show that Glenn Young's push and capital raising in Virginia is proving to be successful.
00:03:03.000 And look, Glenn Young is not as conservative as I am.
00:03:05.000 He's more of a Chamber of Commerce guy.
00:03:07.000 But if Glenn Young stays out of this presidential race, and by the way, it's not like Trump would have a difficulty with him.
00:03:12.000 It's just that Glenn Young would raise $100 million and distract us this late in the game.
00:03:18.000 So let's keep our eyes on that.
00:03:19.000 But Glenn Young, in my opinion, if he ends up doing that, which looks like he does, is what Ron DeSantis should have done.
00:03:25.000 You know, we've had Ron DeSantis speak at our events for years.
00:03:28.000 I think Ron DeSantis is America's greatest governor.
00:03:30.000 I get a lot of hate mail when I say that.
00:03:32.000 He's a terrific legislator.
00:03:34.000 He's a policy type mind.
00:03:36.000 We've invited him to our upcoming event at Amfest.
00:03:38.000 He decided not to come to our event, ActCon, over the summer.
00:03:42.000 For whatever reason, he was too busy or something.
00:03:44.000 But we have a debate tomorrow, not exactly, you know, super important television, in my opinion.
00:03:50.000 Is Ron DeSantis continuing this race the best thing for his career, the best thing for the country, the best thing for the party, and the most important objective that triumphs over all objectives, defeating Joe Biden and the Democrat regime.
00:04:10.000 Everything we do, we are less than a year away.
00:04:12.000 So enough patty cake, enough abstractions.
00:04:17.000 We need to talk real.
00:04:19.000 We need to talk about what's actually going to make a difference, okay?
00:04:22.000 So the question that I will ask again, is Ron DeSantis running for the presidency, getting the endorsement of the Carly Fiorina of Iowa, is that going to move the ball forward?
00:04:36.000 He's going all in on Iowa.
00:04:38.000 He's making an attempt for it.
00:04:39.000 I love the state of Iowa.
00:04:40.000 Iowa has some amazing people.
00:04:43.000 Iowa likes to be courted.
00:04:46.000 Iowa likes to be listened to.
00:04:47.000 Iowa has a tradition of trying to decide their caucus decision late.
00:04:53.000 The people in the DeSantis camp are saying, hey, if you saw our polling, you'd be very confident that these caucus goers are going to trend towards DeSantis.
00:05:02.000 He's going all in.
00:05:03.000 So maybe they're seeing something that we're missing that we don't see in the grassroots and the attendance and the events and the polls and the small dollar donations.
00:05:10.000 I doubt it.
00:05:11.000 The Ron DeSantis, instead of allocating his $100 million to ballot chasing, to general election infrastructure that he could take full credit for in Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, he's going all in on Iowa.
00:05:24.000 I think that's a mistake.
00:05:25.000 Even if, even if he was able to win Iowa, the question is, who won Iowa in 2016?
00:05:32.000 Ted Cruz.
00:05:34.000 Did that get him the nomination?
00:05:35.000 No.
00:05:36.000 I'm not saying this is an anti-Iowa thing.
00:05:38.000 Who won Iowa in 2012?
00:05:40.000 Santorum.
00:05:41.000 Did that get him the nomination?
00:05:43.000 On the Democrat side, if it wasn't for a widespread machine tabulation failure, who won Iowa in 2020?
00:05:51.000 Pete Butticech.
00:05:52.000 People forget that.
00:05:53.000 Bernie Sanders won Iowa.
00:05:56.000 Remember, he snuck it.
00:05:57.000 The point is that Iowa is not everything.
00:05:58.000 And Ron DeSantis' strategy to go all in on Iowa is not strategic.
00:06:02.000 It's desperation.
00:06:03.000 There is no other plan.
00:06:05.000 Now, I'm going to say something that's going to really anger the wonderful people of Iowa.
00:06:10.000 But look, let's just be honest.
00:06:12.000 The facts are the facts.
00:06:14.000 Iowa picks corn.
00:06:15.000 New Hampshire picks presidents.
00:06:17.000 Donald Trump is probably still going to win Iowa, despite all of that.
00:06:21.000 New Hampshire has a far better track record of dictating and determining.
00:06:26.000 But honestly, let's see what happens.
00:06:29.000 I love Iowa.
00:06:30.000 I'm glad they're the first.
00:06:31.000 It's very intimate.
00:06:32.000 It's very personal.
00:06:32.000 It's very close.
00:06:34.000 Governor Kim Reynolds is the governor of Iowa.
00:06:38.000 She's popular.
00:06:39.000 And she is now endorsing Ron DeSantis.
00:06:43.000 She said she's going to remain neutral.
00:06:44.000 I'm going to remain neutral.
00:06:46.000 You're seeing here a Republican establishment, a Republican Uni Party that will not get behind Donald Trump without throwing everything they can.
00:06:54.000 We are less than a year away from going up against the regime, the Unit Party, the Democrat oligarchs.
00:07:01.000 The Republican primary has been sleepy and slow almost all summer and fall, and they want to ignite it.
00:07:08.000 They want to bring it, bring up the temperature, despite the fact that Donald Trump is up 50 points in every major poll.
00:07:14.000 Play Cut 51.
00:07:15.000 We need a president who has the skill and the resolve to reverse the madness that we see every single day.
00:07:24.000 We need someone who won't get distracted but will stay disciplined, who puts this country first and not himself.
00:07:32.000 That leader is Ron DeSantis.
00:07:35.000 Okay, that's obviously a jab towards Donald Trump.
00:07:39.000 We need a president who has the skill and the resolve to reverse the madness that we see every day.
00:07:43.000 So let me tell you something that really animates me.
00:07:45.000 It's fine.
00:07:46.000 These people running for the presidency, they had all summer to get traction, and they haven't.
00:07:51.000 I will not necessarily watch every minute of the debate.
00:07:54.000 I've said this.
00:07:55.000 I've got angry emails.
00:07:56.000 I'm glad Hugh Hewitt is involved.
00:07:57.000 I like Hugh.
00:07:58.000 He's been really good to me.
00:07:59.000 We don't agree on everything.
00:08:00.000 He's a great man.
00:08:00.000 He's always had my back.
00:08:02.000 But you got Lester Holt and Welker.
00:08:04.000 You might as well have Mark Elias and Nancy Pelosi.
00:08:07.000 You might as well have Letitia James as a debate moderator, okay?
00:08:11.000 It's absolute madness, the fact that NBC News, the RNC, actively sought out NBC News.
00:08:17.000 The RNC doesn't want to work with Real America's voice.
00:08:19.000 The RNC could have Bannon, Bongino.
00:08:21.000 Why doesn't the RNC go to the, I don't know, just a totally different company that I have great respect for, the Daily Wire?
00:08:27.000 Wouldn't that be amazing if the RNC went to the Daily Wire instead of NBC News?
00:08:30.000 What's that all about?
00:08:32.000 Daily Wire is a legit company.
00:08:33.000 They got a million plus subscribers.
00:08:35.000 They got some of the biggest talent, huge media company.
00:08:38.000 Candace Owens, Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro.
00:08:41.000 You could have Jordan Peterson be a moderator.
00:08:43.000 He could ask them their thoughts on union psychology.
00:08:46.000 It would be really, it would be amazing TV.
00:08:48.000 Instead, I have to go listen to Lester Holt ask, you know, Chris Christie about birth control?
00:08:56.000 Like this is like, that's just like a, I don't even want to visualize that.
00:09:01.000 Why is the RNC partnering with NBC News?
00:09:05.000 Do we not, we're less than a year away from the election.
00:09:08.000 All the time for your games was the summer.
00:09:10.000 Fine.
00:09:11.000 You know, summertime games, whatever.
00:09:13.000 Has it resulted in anything meaningful or tangible?
00:09:16.000 Of course not.
00:09:16.000 NBC News looks at this as a way to infiltrate, subvert, and weaken the Republican cause heading into next November.
00:09:27.000 But we're going to build this out because it infuriates me.
00:09:31.000 What won't be mentioned tomorrow hasn't been mentioned really the first two debates, and it angers the Republican base.
00:09:39.000 It's the one of the, if not the most important issue happening in America.
00:09:43.000 And if you just watch these Republican debates isolated, you'd think that you're back in 1980s Reagan America.
00:09:49.000 Our best days are ahead and cut taxes.
00:09:53.000 I want to talk about ReliefFactor.com.
00:09:55.000 I want you guys to check out ReliefFactor.com, 100% drug-free knee pain, back pain, joint pain, elbow pain.

00:10:09.000 Relief Factor Sleep could be the best solution for you.
00:10:12.000 Everybody goes to bed.
00:10:13.000 Not everybody sleeps.
00:10:15.000 We're all about helping people live lives that are filled with connection, exploration, passion, and emotion.
00:10:20.000 That is what his life is all about.
00:10:22.000 Make sure you guys are sleeping well.
00:10:23.000 It's a major part of life.
00:10:25.000 Check it out right now.
00:10:26.000 ReliefFactor.com, relieffactor.com.
00:10:31.000 I want you to listen carefully to what Kim Reynolds said.
00:10:34.000 It's amazing.
00:10:34.000 We need a president who has the skill and the resolve to reverse the madness, someone who won't get distracted, will say discipline, who puts his country first than not himself.
00:10:41.000 What an insulting statement, Governor Reynolds.
00:10:45.000 It's obviously a veiled jab at Trump, who puts his country first than not himself.
00:10:49.000 You have Donald Trump facing 700 years in federal prison.
00:10:52.000 He's about to lose his business empire to that thug, Letitia James.
00:10:56.000 And you're doing a little jab saying, oh, you know, it's not about himself.
00:10:59.000 If it was all about himself, why would Donald Trump still be in the game?
00:11:03.000 He's about to lose everything that he earned.
00:11:06.000 They're trying to take Mar-a-Lago from him, Trump Tower from him, at the very least, his New York business empire.
00:11:11.000 They might find him anywhere between $200 and $500 million in a massive liquidation judgment.
00:11:16.000 And Kim Reynolds says, well, you know, we need someone who's not all about themselves.
00:11:20.000 Let me ask you this.
00:11:21.000 Is the person who's polling between 60 and 70 percent all about himself or the person polling between 6 or 7 percent?
00:11:27.000 Which one is it all about themselves?
00:11:29.000 So Kim Reynolds is parroting this new talking point.
00:11:31.000 Yeah, you know, we can't have a bunch of people that just only want about themselves.
00:11:35.000 And here's what infuriates me.
00:11:36.000 We're going to see it tomorrow.
00:11:38.000 These Republican candidates, deep down, they have contempt and hatred for you.
00:11:44.000 Not all of them.
00:11:45.000 I think Vivek, Vivek, to his credit, he's really harmonized with the America first base.
00:11:51.000 But there is a nastiness about the Republican Party becoming the working class and muscular class party.
00:12:00.000 How many of them tomorrow are going to get actually angry or even mention that the former president, leader of the opposition party, who, by the way, is beating Joe Biden in almost every single poll, believe it or not, it's just every single poll.
00:12:11.000 So he's at least popular according to the paper of record, is facing 700 years in federal prison, and his business empire is about to be stolen.
00:12:19.000 How many Republican candidates tomorrow with Lester Holt and Kristen Welker might as well have Big Fanny Willis and Alvin Bragg host the debate?
00:12:26.000 That's what you got.
00:12:26.000 You got tomorrow.
00:12:27.000 It's not Lester, you should just remove and replace.
00:12:31.000 You got Big Fanny and Alvin Bragg as your debate moderators tomorrow.
00:12:35.000 How many of them are going to get angry and upset?
00:12:40.000 They won't because deep down, they actually support it.
00:12:42.000 And here's an example.
00:12:43.000 We have to sit through this.
00:12:44.000 Listen to this.
00:12:45.000 This is cut 45 of Chris Christie barking at voters who don't like him because he's smug and elitist while he enjoys his 2% polling advantage.
00:13:00.000 Why are we putting up with this?
00:13:01.000 Why don't we cancel these things and deploy our resources into the states that matter and unify?
00:13:07.000 Because deep down, this is the key, the Republican Party has been subverted.
00:13:14.000 The Republican Party has been infiltrated by the enemy.
00:13:18.000 They want nasty debates.
00:13:20.000 Credit to Donald Trump for not taking the bait.
00:13:23.000 They want a long primary.
00:13:26.000 They don't want something settled early.
00:13:28.000 They don't want war chests to be built, ballot chasers to be hired, voters to be registered.
00:13:34.000 They want Lester Holt and Kristen Welker to have free shots on goal, to be able to be cut on NBC News and pushed notified to every Apple News notification imaginable of, look, the whole thing is going to be about abortion access and women's rights and contraception.
00:13:55.000 Meanwhile, we have a completely wide open border.
00:13:58.000 The economy is crummy and we're stumbling and barreling towards two regional wars.
00:14:02.000 It feels like the country's collapsing and we have to be electured by Alvin Bragg and Big Fanny Willis.
00:14:09.000 Play cut 45.
00:14:10.000 Every one of those cat calls, every one of those yells will not keep it.
00:14:16.000 Yes, sure.
00:14:17.000 Will not solve one problem we face in this country.
00:14:23.000 Will not solve.
00:14:25.000 And will not make this country better.
00:14:31.000 Your anger, your anger, your anger against the truth is reprehensible.
00:14:40.000 The problem is you fear the truth.
00:14:45.000 The problem is you want to shout down any voice that says anything different than what you want to hear.
00:14:56.000 What are you, Jack Nicholson?
00:14:57.000 You can't handle the truth.
00:14:59.000 No, Chris Christie, you can't handle any weight loss program.
00:15:01.000 It's been very clear for the last 10 years watching it.
00:15:04.000 Chris Christie refuses to leave the Republican Party, even though the Republican Party doesn't want him.
00:15:10.000 Same with Adam Kinzinger, because he is a subverting agent of the Republican Party.
00:15:15.000 His mission is to undermine the Republican Party, weaken us from within.
00:15:20.000 He is a toxin, no different than some of these other people running.
00:15:23.000 He won't leave, even though he's not wanted, because he has a different agenda.
00:15:27.000 His agenda is to get Joe Biden elected at any means necessary.
00:15:32.000 So why are we putting up with it?
00:15:33.000 And why do we have Lester Holt and Kristen Welker going after our candidates?
00:15:40.000 Public Square is one of my favorite apps.
00:15:43.000 There are progressive corporations out there that are just doing terrible things.
00:15:47.000 And Public Square is out there leading the charge against all this garbage that we see from Target, for example, Starbucks strong-arming their customers to support abortion, and financial services like PayPal canceling customers for their political views.
00:16:01.000 Thankfully, we don't have to fund these companies any longer at Public Square.
00:16:04.000 We now have a solution.
00:16:06.000 Join the movement of millions of patriotic Americans who love truth, our country, and our constitution at publicsq.m-o-b-i/slash charlie kirk.

00:16:33.000 Michael, who runs Public Square, does a beautiful job.
00:16:36.000 Good friend of mine, 100% behind him.
00:16:38.000 Check it out today.
00:16:41.000 It's important we understand cultural Marxism primarily comes from a series of documents and letters that were published by Antonio Gramsci, Letters from Prison in the late 1920s.
00:16:54.000 Interestingly enough, Pete Budajedge's father is actually the person who originally translated them.
00:17:01.000 So that's something to think about in South Bend, Indiana, found the letters from prison and translated them.
00:17:06.000 Antonio Gramsci argued that economic Marxism, proletariat versus the bourgeoisie, is not enough to advance a Marxist revolution in the world.
00:17:17.000 It's not going to be sufficient.
00:17:19.000 There was one person who specifically believed this, and that would be Herbert Marcuse, kind of the author of, now a pioneer of the Frankfurt School and modern cultural Marxism.
00:17:30.000 Joining us now is Senator Ted Cruz.
00:17:31.000 Senator, thank you so much for taking the time.
00:17:33.000 Excited to talk about your new book, Unwoke.
00:17:36.000 I encourage everyone to purchase it.
00:17:37.000 Tell us about your book, Senator.
00:17:39.000 Charlie, great to be with you.
00:17:40.000 Thanks for having me.
00:17:41.000 So today, I've got a brand new book that just hit bookstores all across America today.
00:17:46.000 It is entitled Unwoke: How to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America, which you were just talking about a second ago.
00:17:56.000 And it really, I wrote this book because I, like you, like Americans across this country, am horrified at what's happening to this country and how radical everything has gotten.
00:18:06.000 And in particular, what has happened is each of the major institutions in America have been captured by the radical left.
00:18:15.000 And this book systematically goes through and it analyzes number one, how and why that happened.
00:18:22.000 But number two, it lays out a battle plan for how we turn it around, how we take those institutions back.
00:18:29.000 So the book starts chapter one with the universities.
00:18:33.000 And I refer to the universities as the Wuhan lab of the woke virus.
00:18:39.000 It's where the virus was created.
00:18:41.000 It's where it mutated.
00:18:42.000 It's where it spread and it spread to all of the other institutions.
00:18:47.000 Chapter two is K through 12 education.
00:18:49.000 And it went next to elementary school and junior high and high school and critical race theory and the extreme transgender agenda, all of which is being pumped to our kids.
00:19:01.000 The next chapter focuses on journalism.
00:19:03.000 And as you know, journalism is broken.
00:19:05.000 It is shattered.
00:19:06.000 It is corrupt.
00:19:07.000 From there, it goes to big business, to big tech, to entertainment, to Hollywood, to movies, to TV, to sports, and music, and finally to science.
00:19:20.000 And the book examines how each one of these institutions were corrupted from within.
00:19:26.000 And it lays out very specific steps to take to take them back.
00:19:30.000 I love it.
00:19:31.000 The book is Unwoke.
00:19:32.000 So people must understand cultural Marxism can be applied to almost anything.
00:19:36.000 It's the oppressor-oppress dynamic, and they use it with race, they use it with gender, they'll use it with class.
00:19:41.000 And Senator, they're also using it now with foreign policy, Israel and Hamas.
00:19:46.000 Talk about the rise that we've had to do hatred, because if they have a lens, they'll just apply that lens to anything that's occurring.
00:19:52.000 Any current event, they'll find good guy, bad guy.
00:19:54.000 Talk about that, Senator.
00:19:56.000 Yep.
00:19:56.000 Well, that's exactly right.
00:19:58.000 If you go back to the origins of Marxism, you look at Karl Marx and the Communist Manifesto, and he viewed history as economically determined, as an inevitable conflict, a conflict between the oppressor and the victim.
00:20:12.000 And Marx viewed it on a socioeconomic term.
00:20:14.000 So the oppressor was the owner of capital, and the victim was the proletariat, the working men.
00:20:20.000 And his solution was the violent overthrow, the violent revolution of the proletariat that overthrows the owners of capital.
00:20:29.000 And it relies on force, on government power to forcibly redistribute from the oppressor to the victims.
00:20:35.000 That's the original view of Marx.
00:20:38.000 And in the 1960s and 70s, we saw the Marxists begin to invade universities, particularly the elite universities in the United States.
00:20:46.000 At first, they were plain vanilla Marxists.
00:20:48.000 They were focused on economic redistribution and economic power.
00:20:52.000 As you noted, they then shifted the lens to other attributes.
00:20:57.000 So race, critical race theory, is the Marxist lens applied to race and viewing America as inevitably racist and a conflict between the oppressors and the victims, and the answer being violent revolution.
00:21:09.000 You look at gender and whether it is gender or gender identity, exact same.
00:21:16.000 And when you look at what's happening with Israel, this is a perfect illustration of this mindset.
00:21:21.000 You know, two weeks ago, I was sitting down, I was talking with a very successful high-tech entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, and he leans left.
00:21:31.000 He's typically been a man of the left.
00:21:33.000 And he was expressing complete bewilderment at the rabid anti-Semitism we're seeing on the left, whether it's the squad in the house or these demonstrations on university campuses of rabid anti-Israel, anti-Semitic protesters, threats of violence directed at Jewish students.
00:21:53.000 And he was like, where is this coming from?
00:21:55.000 And I explained it exactly as you just laid it out there, Charlie.
00:21:58.000 I said, look, to the cultural Marxists, Jews are coded as oppressors.
00:22:05.000 Bingo.
00:22:06.000 And the Palestinians are coded as victims.
00:22:09.000 And that means to the cultural Marxists, they support the violent revolution of the Palestinians forcibly overthrowing Israel.
00:22:19.000 That's why you see, for example, Black Lives Matter cheering on the Hamas terrorists, even as they're murdering civilians, as they're raping women and little girls, as they're murdering infants.
00:22:31.000 To the cultural Marxists, all of those are acceptable losses to overthrow what they view as the oppressor.
00:22:38.000 Yeah, so Senator, I think this is so important because then it just, it's rinse and repeat and they reapply it.
00:22:44.000 And I told this to a group of, you know, Jewish donors to many causes in Israel.
00:22:50.000 They said, but Charlie, can't we just find common ground?
00:22:52.000 I said, you will lose the argument in Israel if you do not crush cultural Marxism.
00:22:56.000 And so let's talk about defeating it, Senator.
00:22:58.000 You know, you dedicate a lot of the book to actually crushing cultural Marxism.
00:23:02.000 What do you think is their Achilles heel?
00:23:04.000 You've studied it.
00:23:05.000 You fight it, right?
00:23:06.000 You've had actual cultural Marxist Robert Francis O'Rourke, you know, run after you.
00:23:10.000 He's a true believer, you know, in cultural Marxism.
00:23:12.000 How do we beat these people?
00:23:14.000 Well, there's several things.
00:23:15.000 Number one, their views are wildly unpopular.
00:23:19.000 And so there is power to transparency and sunshine.
00:23:23.000 Look, normal people don't support abolishing the police.
00:23:28.000 Normal people don't support open borders and the chaos at our southern border.
00:23:32.000 Normal people don't support medically sterilizing eight-year-old children and surgically removing their genitals.
00:23:41.000 That is not a normal view.
00:23:43.000 Normal people know what the hell a woman is.
00:23:46.000 And they don't get confused on that question.
00:23:48.000 On all of those issues, the radical left, they're on the wrong side of 90-10 issues.
00:23:53.000 And so they rely on power.
00:23:56.000 They rely on brute force because they don't rely on persuasion.
00:24:01.000 Instead, they rely on indoctrination.
00:24:03.000 So we need to retake institutions.
00:24:06.000 So, for example, in the world of journalism, we need to create new outlets.
00:24:11.000 Frankly, what you're doing with your podcast is a direct assault on the power on the woke journalism.
00:24:18.000 I do a podcast every week, Verdict with Ted Cruz, three days a week.
00:24:22.000 It's the same thing.
00:24:23.000 It's creating alternative avenues to go around the woke media.
00:24:29.000 But what I urge in the book, one of the things I urge in the book is conservatives and libertarians with money need to acquire outlets, need to acquire the organs of transmission of ideas, need to buy newspapers and TV stations and radio stations.
00:24:45.000 We need to buy movie studios and book publishing houses and record labels.
00:24:51.000 And this is an area where left and right, there's been an asymmetry.
00:24:55.000 The left appreciates the power of ideas.
00:24:59.000 The right consistently does not.
00:25:01.000 So for example, I talk in the book about how Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post for $300 million.
00:25:08.000 Now, he didn't buy it because he believes in the long-term profitability of print media.
00:25:14.000 I'm quite confident that's not why he purchased it.
00:25:17.000 He purchased it because he wanted to own the commanding heights of public discourse.
00:25:22.000 And too many people on the right, they say, well, you know, I could earn a slightly higher rate of return making widgets in North Carolina.
00:25:30.000 So instead of buying CNN, I'm going to buy a widget factory.
00:25:35.000 And because of that, we've abandoned the terrain.
00:25:40.000 Look, in the chapter on big tech, I focus a lot on Elon Musk's buying Twitter, the single most important step for free speech in decades.
00:25:49.000 We need to take these outlets over.
00:25:52.000 And you don't have to have all of them.
00:25:54.000 You just have to have a critical beachhead.
00:25:57.000 And we have to invest in the organs of transmission of ideas.
00:26:02.000 And we also have to hold the left to account and let people know how disastrous their policies are.
00:26:09.000 The book is Unwoke.
00:26:11.000 What currently gives you the greatest hope?
00:26:13.000 There's a lot of black pilling right now, as you know, a lot of negativity.
00:26:16.000 You travel the country, Senator.
00:26:18.000 People are down.
00:26:18.000 What is the greatest source of hope that you see?
00:26:22.000 Look, we're winning on a lot of fronts.
00:26:24.000 The chapter that I have on big business, I focus on Bud Light and Target.
00:26:28.000 Those were major victories where Bud Light lit themselves on fire.
00:26:32.000 They lost 30 billion in market share.
00:26:34.000 They fell from the number one beer in the country to out of the top 10.
00:26:37.000 And that consequence was powerful because they looked down on their customers right after that Target embraced the aggressive transgender agenda and moms got furious.
00:26:50.000 They lost tens of billions of dollars in market cap.
00:26:53.000 And the executives at Target were saying, we don't want to be another Bud Light.
00:26:58.000 I talk about both of those in the book.
00:26:59.000 As an example, we need to increase the cost of going woke.
00:27:03.000 Let me urge everyone.
00:27:04.000 The book is available at every bookstore.
00:27:06.000 Go on to Amazon or Barnes ⁇ Noble right now.
00:27:09.000 Buy this book and buy extra copies for your dad, for your sister, for your friend.
00:27:14.000 They make great Christmas gifts.
00:27:16.000 But this book right now is dominating the charts in politics on Amazon.
00:27:22.000 And that is pissing the New York Times off enormously.
00:27:24.000 So buy the book.
00:27:25.000 You'll enjoy it.
00:27:26.000 By the way, it's also a fun read.
00:27:28.000 It's not academic and abstract.
00:27:29.000 It's stories.
00:27:30.000 It's real.
00:27:31.000 It's practical.
00:27:32.000 It's interesting and fun.
00:27:34.000 And so I think you'll enjoy the book.
00:27:36.000 Senator, we'll be buying a bunch and giving them to our students.
00:27:38.000 And you've always been so generous coming to our events at Turning Point USA.
00:27:42.000 You always are there for us.
00:27:43.000 And so I want everyone to unite and buy the senator's book unwoke.
00:27:46.000 Super important.
00:27:47.000 Senator, thank you so much.
00:27:48.000 Thanks, Charlie.

00:28:49.000 I want to piggyback on what we were talking about with Senator Ted Cruz and play a piece of tape here.
00:28:53.000 This is Jamal Bowman, who, by the way, he should be, under equal application of the law, at least serving like an afternoon in jail.
00:29:02.000 Pulling the fire alarm, it's ridiculous.
00:29:03.000 He's a liar.
00:29:04.000 He's a bad person.
00:29:05.000 But it's actually an interesting piece of tape here.
00:29:09.000 I thought it was a button to open up the door.
00:29:12.000 Either you're a moron or you're a liar, or maybe both, because you're a Democrat.
00:29:15.000 Play cut six here.
00:29:16.000 It's actually a very revealing clip here.
00:29:18.000 Play cut six.
00:29:19.000 Let's talk about Gaza, Congress, but how much damage is Joe Biden's support for Israel doing to the Democratic base?
00:29:26.000 Yes, it could.
00:29:27.000 And let me just be very clear.
00:29:29.000 It's one thing to support Israel.
00:29:31.000 It's another thing to never hold Israel accountable.
00:29:35.000 And the Muslim community, the Arab community, and Palestinians hear that loud and clear and receive that as erasure and even further receive it as dehumanization.
00:29:47.000 Historical just continuing to support Israel without the proper critiques and accountability led us to what happened on October 7th, but also what's happening now.
00:29:59.000 All right.
00:29:59.000 So two things.
00:29:59.000 Number one, if I were to give PR advice to the IDF, which they haven't listened to a thing I've said because it's just been kind of a joke.
00:30:05.000 They're doing better in the last week.
00:30:07.000 I got to say, the Israel-Iraeli government, they've been better, largely because people aren't talking about it as much.
00:30:12.000 It's very simple.
00:30:14.000 Talk about this as a war of liberation.
00:30:16.000 Okay.
00:30:16.000 You are here to liberate people being held captive by Hamas.
00:30:21.000 There's too much confluence.
00:30:23.000 Say that we are coming here to liberate you from your captors.
00:30:27.000 First of all, it's true.
00:30:28.000 So it has the side benefit of being true.
00:30:31.000 But that's less of an invasion and more of we are here to spring you free to flourish.
00:30:37.000 And by the way, if we go a level deeper, if you look at it, it then makes the people seem deeply unthankful.
00:30:44.000 Israel will end up freeing the people of Gaza and they'll be hated for doing it.
00:30:49.000 But I think you could win far more PR points, at least with some normies and some people in the middle, if you say, we are here to free you from your captives, to get you out of captivity.
00:31:00.000 Just honestly, IDF, this whole thing that we're going to kill every last person of Hamas, it's true.
00:31:04.000 It's honest.
00:31:05.000 It's fine.
00:31:06.000 Not working in the West.
00:31:08.000 By the way, you don't have to define what freedom would mean.
00:31:10.000 Okay.
00:31:10.000 Some form of self, not Hamas, okay?
00:31:13.000 You don't have to get too into the details.
00:31:14.000 I think a war of liberation would help.
00:31:16.000 Anyway, the point is this.
00:31:17.000 That's just PR stuff.
00:31:18.000 To piggyback on what we were talking about with Senator Ted Cruz, this is something that there is this massive reckoning, cognitive dissonance.
00:31:24.000 By the way, there is this incredible tweet, Eli Klein, quote, today's election day.
00:31:30.000 I'm a lifelong Democrat, but as a Jew, I'll be voting Republican.
00:31:33.000 Republicans will do a lot more to curb anti-Semitism than Democrats, who are not treating anti-Semitism nearly as seriously as they've been treating the most petty examples of other bigotry.
00:31:40.000 Wow.
00:31:41.000 Eli Crane.
00:31:42.000 I'm sorry, Eli Klein.
00:31:44.000 Eli Klein from New York voting Republican for the first time.
00:31:48.000 But here's what Democrats are going to, what Jewish Democrats or Jews in general are going to have to make a decision.
00:31:55.000 Until you crush the cultural Marxist lens of which they view the world, you will never actually be able to build support for Israel.
00:32:03.000 You cannot subsidize support and play footsie with cultural Marxism and have a future for the state of Israel.
00:32:09.000 So you have to choose.
00:32:11.000 And Jews have been some of the largest funders of cultural Marxist ideas and supporters of those ideas over the last 30 or 40 years.
00:32:18.000 Stop supporting causes that hate you.
00:32:20.000 Now you might say, well, you know, how is one thing applied to the other?
00:32:23.000 If you train a generation to view everything through an oppressor-oppressed lens, they will apply that lens to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
00:32:32.000 The same way that they apply it to the police issue, the gender issue, good guy, bad guy, somebody on top, somebody on bottom.
00:32:38.000 Until you cleanse that ideology from the hierarchy and the academic elite of the West, there will not be a safe future.
00:32:48.000 I'm not going to say Israel won't exist, but Israel will be in jeopardy as long as the Western children, children of the West, are being taught with primarily Jewish dollars subsidizing it to view everything through oppressor-oppressed dynamic.
00:33:03.000 Until you shed that ideology, you will not be able to build the case for Israel because they view Israel as an oppressor.
00:33:13.000 Thanks so much for listening, everybody.
