00:00:20.000 Enjoy, everybody.
00:00:21.000 Buckle up, everybody.
00:00:21.000 Here we go.
00:00:22.000 Charlie, what you've done is incredible here.
00:00:24.000 Maybe Charlie Kirk is on the college campus.
00:00:26.000 I want you to know we are lucky.
00:00:28.000 To have Charlie Kirk.
00:00:29.000 Charlie Kirk's running the White House, folks.
00:00:33.000 I want to thank Charlie.
00:00:34.000 He's an incredible guy.
00:00:35.000 His spirit, his love of this country, he's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created, Turning Point USA. We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country.

00:01:20.000 Lots of breaking news happening today, but we want to dive right into a very viral news story of my appearance on Gavin Newsom's podcast.
00:01:31.000 So just to be very clear, why Gavin Newsom is hosting a podcast is pretty evident.
00:01:37.000 He wants to try to run to the middle and try to moderate ahead of the 2028 presidential race.
00:01:43.000 I am the first guest, and we had quite the conversation.
00:01:49.000 Challenged him on a lot of different issues.
00:01:51.000 Did not challenge him on everything I wanted to.
00:01:54.000 Anything that comes to...
00:01:55.000 This is kind of how it works.
00:01:56.000 So we'll go through a lot of the tape.
00:01:58.000 I thought I did fine.
00:01:59.000 The team thought I did well.
00:02:00.000 And you guys will be the judge.
00:02:02.000 Anything that has to do with California, it gets into basically a shouting match.
00:02:08.000 And it's like, you don't understand.
00:02:11.000 I know better than you.
00:02:12.000 We're doing all these superfluous committees.
00:02:15.000 And it just kind of gets...
00:02:16.000 It gets hyper-emotional on anything related to a specific of California.
00:02:23.000 The premise was that Governor Newsom wanted to have me on his program to learn from me and MAGA Faithful as to why they are getting their tail kicked.
00:02:33.000 And we went into it.
00:02:36.000 We went into homelessness.
00:02:37.000 We went into school closures.
00:02:39.000 And the one that is making the most headlines is...
00:02:45.000 The issue of men in female sports.
00:02:48.000 And I love debate.
00:02:49.000 I'll debate anybody at any time.
00:02:52.000 And as far as if this is the best use of his time while people still do not have homes in the Palisades, that is a good argument.
00:02:59.000 Now, this is the longer clip.
00:03:02.000 Let's just start here.
00:03:04.000 Around men in female sports.
00:03:07.000 This is going very viral.
00:03:10.000 Gavin Newsom.
00:03:12.000 Obviously knows which way the wind is blowing.
00:03:16.000 Unless, of course, it's a wildfire in the Palisades.
00:03:18.000 Sorry, that's too soon.
00:03:19.000 He always kind of knows the directional political energy.
00:03:24.000 And this is our conversation around whether or not that biological men should be allowed in female sports.
00:03:34.000 Playcut 191. You have an opportunity to run to the middle and see this man.
00:03:38.000 So obviously you're talking to me about people.
00:03:40.000 So you right now should come out.
00:03:42.000 And be like, you know what?
00:03:43.000 The young man who's about to win the state championship and the long jump in female sports, that shouldn't happen.
00:03:49.000 You as the governor should step out and say no.
00:03:51.000 No, and I appreciate it.
00:03:52.000 But would you do something like that?
00:03:54.000 Would you say no men in female sports?
00:03:55.000 Well, I think it's an issue of fairness.
00:03:56.000 I completely agree with you on that.
00:03:58.000 It is an issue of fairness.
00:03:59.000 It's deeply unfair.
00:04:01.000 Would you speak out against this young man, A.B. Hernandez, who right now is going to win the state championship in the long run?
00:04:06.000 I can see you wrestling with it.
00:04:07.000 No, I'm not wrestling.
00:04:08.000 I'm not wrestling with the fairness issue.
00:04:10.000 I totally agree with you.
00:04:11.000 By the way, as someone with four kids, you've got two daughters, right?
00:04:13.000 Two daughters.
00:04:14.000 I have a daughter, too.
00:04:15.000 And a wife that went, God forbid, to Stanford and played on the junior national soccer team.
00:04:20.000 And a guy who got into college only because I was left-handed and could throw a baseball a little bit or hit the ball for a little bit.
00:04:28.000 So I revere sports.
00:04:30.000 And so the issue of fairness is completely legit.
00:04:32.000 And I saw that the last couple of years.
00:04:35.000 Boy, did I saw how you guys were able to weaponize that issue at another level.
00:04:39.000 Not weaponized.
00:04:40.000 Well, weaponized may be pejorative.
00:04:42.000 You're right.
00:04:42.000 But you were able to- Shine a light on?
00:04:44.000 Highlight it in a way that, frankly, I- There are not that many.
00:04:48.000 We're talking about, I think, NC2A, what, 510,000?
00:04:51.000 No, no, but I just didn't realize.
00:04:53.000 It's 890 medals and trophies that we know of in the last five years.
00:04:56.000 That's a lot.
00:04:56.000 No, so let me step back and say completely fair on the issue of fairness.
00:05:00.000 I completely agree.
00:05:02.000 So that's easy to call out, the unfairness of that.
00:05:04.000 There's also a humility and a grace that these poor people are more likely to commit suicide, have anxiety and depression.
00:05:11.000 And the way that people talk down to vulnerable communities is an issue that...
00:05:16.000 I have a hard time with as well.
00:05:18.000 So both things I can hold in my hand.
00:05:20.000 How can we address this issue with the kind of decency that I think...
00:05:24.000 You know, it's inherent in you, but not always expressed on the issue.
00:05:28.000 No, I get it.
00:05:29.000 At the same time, deal with the unfairness.
00:05:31.000 So you asked a good faith question, like, how do we Democrats get out of the wilderness?
00:05:34.000 Yeah.
00:05:35.000 This one is an 80-20 issue.
00:05:36.000 New York Times poll, right?
00:05:37.000 No, I agree with you.
00:05:38.000 We're getting crushed on.
00:05:40.000 Crushed.
00:05:40.000 And you have an opportunity in the state to be like, look, I have a heart for A.B. Hernandez.
00:05:44.000 I have a heart for the San Jose volleyball player.
00:05:46.000 Let's give them compassion.
00:05:47.000 What's not fair is just for like a woman's, entire woman's sports.
00:05:51.000 I agree.
00:05:52.000 By the way, I agree with you.
00:05:53.000 I agree with you.
00:05:54.000 And it's interesting.
00:05:54.000 I stress tested this, Charlie.
00:05:55.000 I was wondering.
00:05:57.000 You know, in California, and I've been a leader in the LGBTQ place, as you know, back in 2004, was marrying same-sex couples.
00:06:03.000 And I know we have different opinion on marriage equality.
00:06:07.000 And so I've been at this for years and years.
00:06:08.000 I take a bad seat to no one.
00:06:10.000 But I was actually on the issue of sports, which in the last few years has just exploded, trying to understand and understand the 10 athletes in the NCAA, 510,000 athletes, but 10 athletes.
00:06:21.000 But how profound, and even my own friend cohort.
00:06:24.000 People saying, what the hell is going on?
00:06:26.000 Why aren't you calling this out?
00:06:28.000 When did this happen?
00:06:29.000 So in 2000, it turns out in 2014, years before I was governor, there was a law established that established the legal principles that allow trans athletes in women's sports.
00:06:40.000 But the issue of fairness is completely legit.
00:06:42.000 So I completely align with you.
00:06:44.000 And we've got to own that.
00:06:46.000 We've got to acknowledge it.
00:06:47.000 And I don't say that through the prism of politics, because you disagree with same-sex marriage on principle.
00:06:53.000 And so I'm not...
00:06:54.000 And by the way, I value the fact that you're not trying to walk away from that principle because electorally...
00:06:59.000 I'm in the minority of that.
00:07:02.000 Yeah, in the minority.
00:07:03.000 And I don't want to walk away from this principle because it's electoral, but it is an issue of fairness.
00:07:08.000 And I think Democrats have lost it.
00:07:09.000 I think that...
00:07:11.000 I wish that we would have done this podcast last week.
00:07:13.000 Last week?
00:07:14.000 Well, because the U.S. Senate just voted...
00:07:16.000 Every Democrat voted against that bill.
00:07:18.000 And I'm just telling you, like, again, I'm not one to give...
00:07:20.000 Governor Newsom advice.
00:07:22.000 You guys are giving us an 80-20 issue that is just permeating the country.
00:07:27.000 And it's such an affront to our senses.
00:07:29.000 And you look at these videos, Governor, because it's not just that it's OK, you read an article about it.
00:07:32.000 But these young men that are, you know, are in these sports, they're throwing around girls.
00:07:38.000 And it is an issue of fairness, but it goes to a broader arch narrative.
00:07:41.000 There you go.
00:07:42.000 Which is important.
00:07:43.000 No, I want to hear this.
00:07:44.000 Which is this, that the Democrats, you guys will tend to view an incident through an oppressed or oppressed lens.
00:07:50.000 Yeah.
00:07:50.000 It's your training.
00:07:51.000 It comes from college.
00:07:52.000 It comes from.
00:07:53.000 And we as conservatives tend to view things through right or wrong or just or unjust.
00:07:58.000 And the country is going far more in our direction and away from your direction.
00:08:03.000 That's just a little taste.
00:08:05.000 Now, I do have to interject one thing.
00:08:07.000 By the way, Governor Newsom is getting attacked by the left rather aggressively for saying, quote, I completely align with you.
00:08:14.000 He aligns with us on this program.
00:08:15.000 Now, is Gavin, is he being, let's just say, honest with his deeply held beliefs?
00:08:21.000 I think it's just pure transactional politics.
00:08:23.000 But who knows?
00:08:25.000 Who cares?
00:08:26.000 What's important is that we are winning on the issue and even the governor of California has to come in our direction.
00:08:32.000 But boy, there's going to be a reckoning in California because that is the center of radical trans ideology.
00:08:38.000 However, there's something that he said that I would have interjected and said if the podcast would have been recorded the next day, which is he said, well, they're more likely to commit suicide.
00:08:48.000 A new study from the University of Texas.
00:08:51.000 Actually shows that is not true.
00:08:53.000 Yesterday, quote, Males that had trans-affirming, gender-affirming care surgery had depression rates of 25% compared to males without surgery.
00:09:02.000 Anxiety rates that the group were 12.8% compared to 2.6%.
00:09:06.000 Quote, Depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation and substance use disorders were significantly higher among those who underwent surgery.
00:09:15.000 The same differences were found among females.
00:09:19.000 As with surgery, a 22.9% depression rates.
00:09:21.000 Females who underwent surgery also had anxiety rates compared to 7.1% without surgery.
00:09:26.000 New study came out that shows that it's not even true.
00:09:28.000 The University of Texas study shows that the suicide talking point is completely nonsense.
00:09:35.000 We tweeted this out yesterday.
00:09:37.000 Elon retweeted it.
00:09:38.000 It went totally viral, seen by 20 or 30 million people.
00:09:40.000 So I would have responded to Governor Newsom if that study would have been out.
00:09:48.000 We're going to keep on going into this conversation that I had with Governor Newsom.
00:09:53.000 I will say this.
00:09:53.000 The way that we view the world is through right and wrong, just and unjust.
00:09:58.000 They view it through oppressor oppressed.
00:10:01.000 And the entire Democrat Party just said, we do not care if men are in female sports.
00:10:08.000 The governor of California is standing up against it.
00:10:12.000 Is it legitimate or not?
00:10:14.000 More than anything else, it is interesting.
00:10:16.000 And illuminating.
00:10:18.000 And I'm glad that we were able to bring that out to the surface.
00:10:22.000 It is an 80-20 issue.
00:10:24.000 The governor's trying to run to the middle.
00:10:26.000 We'll see the kind of backlash that that will receive from the trans radical ideologues in the Democrat Party.
00:10:36.000 Why refi?
00:10:37.000 If you are a private student loan borrower, listen carefully.
00:10:40.000 Private student loan debt totals over $300 billion.
00:10:44.000 About $45 billion of that is labeled as distressed.
00:10:48.000 YRefi does not care what your credit score is.
00:10:50.000 You can finally take control of your student loan situation with a plan that works for your monthly budget.
00:10:55.000 Let's face it.
00:10:56.000 If you have distressed or defaulted private student loans, nobody is coming to bail you out.
00:11:01.000 You can even skip a payment every six months up to 12 times without penalty.
00:11:04.000 Just call 888-YREFI-34 or log on to YREFI.com.
00:11:08.000 That is Y-R-E-F-Y.com.

00:11:16.000 This may not be available in all 50 states.
00:11:18.000 So go to YREFI.com.
00:11:21.000 Y-R-E-F-Y dot com.
00:11:23.000 Can you imagine being debt-free and not living under this burden anymore?
00:11:26.000 Be unburdened by what has been great company.
00:11:29.000 They're highly ethical.
00:11:30.000 I can vouch for them.
00:11:32.000 Again, they're at our office a lot.
00:11:33.000 We're meeting them with a lot of different stuff.
00:11:34.000 They support Turning Point USA. They are mission aligned.
00:11:37.000 So if you have private student loan debt, have them help you at Y-R-E-F-Y dot com.
00:11:46.000 More of my conversation.
00:11:48.000 With Gavin Newsom.
00:11:49.000 So this is kind of how it all started.
00:11:51.000 Gavin said that, Governor Newsom said that his son is a big fan of the Charlie Kirk show.
00:12:00.000 And that he really wanted to come to the studio.
00:12:03.000 And I responded off the cuff and rather sharply.
00:12:07.000 And I'll tell you, when you have conversations like this...
00:12:09.000 You see, Governor Newsom was being overly effusive in his praise towards me, so you have to kind of meet the interviewer at his frequency.
00:12:17.000 Remember, I'm a guest on his show.
00:12:19.000 So here's a guy who I believe has done incredible damage to the most beautiful state in the country, that I believe has done just unspeakable harm to the great people of California.
00:12:30.000 So here he is kind of throwing on the praise.
00:12:34.000 It's a difficult thing because you don't want to all of a sudden look as if you're just coming out like super aggro.
00:12:39.000 At the same time, you must challenge.
00:12:41.000 So I tried to get in a couple little one-liners here or there.
00:12:44.000 Listen carefully.
00:12:44.000 Play cut 174. Last night, trying to put my son to bed.
00:12:48.000 He's like, no, Dad.
00:12:49.000 I just, what time?
00:12:50.000 What time's Charlie going to be here?
00:12:51.000 What time?
00:12:52.000 And I'm like, dude, you're in school tomorrow.
00:12:54.000 He's 13. He's like, no, no.
00:12:55.000 This morning, wakes up at 6 up.
00:12:57.000 Then he's like, I'm coming.
00:12:59.000 He literally would not leave the house.
00:13:01.000 Did you let him take off school?
00:13:03.000 No, of course not.
00:13:04.000 He's not here for a good reason.
00:13:05.000 But the point is the point.
00:13:06.000 You canceled school for like two years.
00:13:08.000 The point is the point, which is you are making a damn dent.
00:13:13.000 Thank you.
00:13:13.000 I'm kidding.
00:13:14.000 You canceled school for two years.
00:13:15.000 Come on.
00:13:15.000 You had the Zoom class for two years.
00:13:19.000 You shut down all the California schools.
00:13:21.000 All kidding aside, it really just showed the power of this program.
00:13:23.000 The power of all of you that subscribe to our show and keep the momentum going.
00:13:28.000 That we are reaching the sons and daughters of the Democrat ruling class.
00:13:32.000 And I just want to have the offer to Governor Newsom, both privately and publicly, we'd love to have your son come to one of our Turning Point USA events.
00:13:41.000 We won't make a big deal out of it.
00:13:42.000 We won't say, oh, this is Gavin Newsom's son.
00:13:43.000 No, no, no.
00:13:44.000 We just want him to be able to have a patriotic experience this summer.
00:13:47.000 We have our Student Action Summit.
00:13:48.000 We'd love to have him come to Tampa, Florida.
00:13:50.000 He could bring a couple Freds.
00:13:52.000 I think it would be incredible to have Governor Newsom there.
00:13:54.000 Again, we wouldn't make a whole thing, a display out of it.
00:13:56.000 He can make up his own mind.
00:13:58.000 But it does show the impact of the virality of what we've been doing.
00:14:03.000 And I wonder if that was one of the reasons why I was invited to be the first guest on Gavin Newsom's program.
00:14:11.000 I was the first guest on the program, and I wonder if there was something to do with his son.
00:14:16.000 But we are reaching the next generation.
00:14:18.000 We are reaching young people.
00:14:19.000 And one of the pieces of tape that we will get into is how I explained...
00:14:26.000 How younger voters are the most suicidal, alcohol-addicted, anxious, and quite honestly, suffering generation in modern American history, if not in American history.
00:14:36.000 Let's play Cut 175. When you go to these college campuses, I love watching your TikTok, which is next level.
00:14:42.000 Clearly, that's expressed by my 13-year-old son.
00:14:44.000 I want to meet this guy.
00:14:46.000 He's coming to a Turning Point event this summer, Tampa, Florida Student Action Summit.
00:14:52.000 By the way, you should be concerned.
00:14:54.000 But let me say, here is why I'm concerned, because you have expressed that I should be concerned as a Democrat.
00:15:00.000 That we're getting clobbered.
00:15:03.000 That you've figured something out.
00:15:05.000 It's not me.
00:15:06.000 The president first deserves the credit.
00:15:08.000 No, no, hold on.
00:15:09.000 You were at this before Trump was Trump.
00:15:11.000 He was a Democrat back in 2011 and 2012. The president deserves huge credit.
00:15:15.000 And I just have to say that as an obligatory thing, because without him, our movement would be small.
00:15:19.000 And you can appreciate that in politics.
00:15:21.000 You have to appreciate the person who is the catalyst.
00:15:24.000 For you, that's what you sort of attached an identity with him?
00:15:26.000 It was also just the catalyst.
00:15:27.000 It was a cultural moment that just opened us up.
00:15:30.000 By the way, the media is covering this all live.
00:15:32.000 It's big, big coverage about how Gavin Newsom is breaking with the Democrat Party.
00:15:38.000 Daily Mail, Fox News, across the board.
00:15:43.000 Here's going to be interesting for Gavin Newsom.
00:15:45.000 It's not worth our time whether or not the shift is legitimate or not.
00:15:48.000 I don't think it's legitimate.
00:15:49.000 I think it's all just political opportunism.
00:15:52.000 Is will the Democrat Party put up with a candidate like Gavin Newsom who's trying to moderate his views?
00:16:00.000 Will they allow somebody to say, nope, actually, no men in female sports?
00:16:06.000 To try to help rebuild the image.
00:16:09.000 And we went right in, by the way, on all the race stuff, Prop 16, legalized racial discrimination.
00:16:14.000 I also challenged him on the most radical trans law in the country.
00:16:20.000 And to be honest with you, we'll play this tape of when I challenge him on the most radical trans law.
00:16:25.000 He's so slippery when it comes to the California stuff.
00:16:27.000 He'll argue from authority, be like, no, no, that's not actually what the bill says, this, this, this, this, this.
00:16:32.000 And I know he's wrong, but I don't have the bill handy, so you kind of just...
00:16:37.000 You kind of get lost in the details there.
00:16:40.000 But I'm still glad I brought it up.
00:16:44.000 Hey everybody, Charlie Kirk here.
00:16:45.000 Brand new year, brand new opportunities to change the world for the better.
00:16:48.000 It's easier than you might think.
00:16:49.000 You can save babies by providing ultrasounds with pre-born.
00:16:53.000 Together with the Sanctity of Human Life Month, we're going to save 35,000 babies to show the world that not only do we believe life is precious, but we're going to do something about it.
00:17:03.000 Your gift to pre-born will give a girl the truth of what's happening in her body so that she can make the right choice.
00:17:08.000 What better way to start this new year than to join us to save babies?
00:17:12.000 And $28 a month will save a baby a month all year long.
00:17:16.000 A $15,000 gift will provide a complete ultrasound machine that will save thousands of babies for years and years to come.
00:17:22.000 It will also save moms from a lifetime of pain and regret.
00:17:25.000 I am a donor to this organization, and you should be too.
00:17:29.000 Start this new year by being a hero for life.
00:17:31.000 Call 833-850-2229 or click on the preborn banner at charliekirk.com.
00:17:36.000 That is charliekirk.com and click on the preborn banner.
00:17:40.000 I'm a donor.
00:17:41.000 You should be too.
00:17:41.000 charliekirk.com preborn banner.
00:17:45.000 So let's get into it.
00:17:47.000 So this has been one of Gavin Newsom's most effective attack lines when he is on a show like Sean Hannity.
00:17:56.000 Or when he goes up against Ron DeSantis, he says, you guys are book banners.
00:18:01.000 So he brought that one right out of his back pocket, and he decided to deploy it.
00:18:06.000 And this is how I've always wanted Republicans to reply to the book banning issue.
00:18:12.000 If I may say so myself, I thought I did very well on this.
00:18:15.000 We actually did zero prep on this.
00:18:16.000 You know, we were prepping for all the different types of things that could be brought up.
00:18:19.000 We did not bring up a book banning.
00:18:22.000 This is how if...
00:18:23.000 I was a Republican.
00:18:24.000 This is how you should respond to this issue.
00:18:27.000 Playcut 192. How about the book ban stuff?
00:18:29.000 On a serious note, 4,240 books or titles, libraries and schools are banned in 2023. Is that not as a conservative?
00:18:39.000 Well, it depends.
00:18:41.000 I think we can both agree pornography should not be taught to a nine-year-old.
00:18:44.000 Fair point.
00:18:44.000 So that's a book ban.
00:18:45.000 Well, there are some other books.
00:18:47.000 That was the Moms for Liberty contention.
00:18:50.000 Time out.
00:18:50.000 I agree on Bill O'Reilly.
00:18:51.000 The Moms for Liberty movement.
00:18:53.000 That you made a big thing of was just no porn to 10-year-olds.
00:18:56.000 We agree.
00:18:57.000 So those books should be banned.
00:18:59.000 So what we should do right now is every California school that has porn in their library should be kicked out.
00:19:04.000 Does that include the Bible?
00:19:06.000 Well, I wouldn't say the Song of Solomon is porn.
00:19:09.000 No, but I mean, some have made that point.
00:19:10.000 Is that a fair point?
00:19:11.000 I don't think that's...
00:19:12.000 And as a man of faith, and I deeply admire that about you.
00:19:15.000 Thank you.
00:19:16.000 But no, I mean, again, the Song of Solomon is rather risque.
00:19:20.000 But what we're talking about in these books is not just the words, it's also the images.
00:19:23.000 And again, your audience can look at the images themselves.
00:19:26.000 It's highly graphic.
00:19:27.000 But again, it seems a banning binge.
00:19:30.000 I mean, at next level, sort of cancel.
00:19:32.000 But why do you think moms are doing that?
00:19:34.000 Do you think it's because they want to have mind control, or do you think that they have come across incident of incident of highly provocative material?
00:19:42.000 I love moms, but this moms, I mean, we don't have to get into Moms for Liberty.
00:19:45.000 I mean, you brought up the book bans, though.
00:19:47.000 Deeply organized for a larger agenda, but that's my humble opinion.
00:19:52.000 But let me just, you know, kind of complete the point, is that it's easy to just call it kind of a book ban, but when you actually have to read some of these books, it will take your breath away.
00:20:01.000 Of some of this stuff, right?
00:20:02.000 You're like, okay, you know, we're teaching a 10-year-old how to put a condom on.
00:20:05.000 I know.
00:20:05.000 I just have a problem with, you know, who the hell is going to decide?
00:20:07.000 That government?
00:20:08.000 I mean, Doron DeSantis is going to decide what I can read or say in the boardroom and the classroom?
00:20:12.000 This is the exercise of politics, though.
00:20:14.000 The exercise of politics is the highest form of community because it blends morality and sociability.
00:20:19.000 So what we do is we have discussion and elections and we have boards and commissions, right?
00:20:23.000 And we as a people say, okay, no porn for 10-year-olds.
00:20:26.000 And that's politics, right?
00:20:27.000 I mean, I'm not saying that there's some sort of...
00:20:29.000 We've got to stress test whether the Bible's included in that.
00:20:31.000 I don't even want to go forward anymore on this.
00:20:34.000 No, it's tough, but this becomes a dialectic.
00:20:37.000 I have heard a lot.
00:20:38.000 I've never heard.
00:20:39.000 That's interesting, though.
00:20:40.000 No, I mean, it's provocative.
00:20:42.000 I don't mean to offend.
00:20:43.000 Again, I deeply don't mean to offend.
00:20:45.000 By the way, Father Kaz would be offended with me.
00:20:47.000 If you think the Bible's pornographic, we have a hole.
00:20:51.000 Most of these books are quote-unquote not pornographic.
00:20:53.000 There's sections of images that are very violated to young kids.
00:20:58.000 Some we would agree.
00:20:58.000 Can I just say one of those?
00:21:00.000 If you want to learn, Governor, and I'm happy that there is a movement of moms that is not, that's growing, where they feel as if our kids are being hyper-sexualized.
00:21:09.000 And I agree with them, that they are being, that they have to hear topics.
00:21:12.000 Social media?
00:21:13.000 Well, both in the social media and the classroom.
00:21:16.000 So that's how you handle, in my opinion, the book banning issue.
00:21:20.000 And look, Governor Newsom that said, I don't want to go any more forward on this.
00:21:23.000 Because it's very easy to say book ban, book ban, book ban when you frame it as what it is, which is a common sense just kicking out of pornography in our schools.
00:21:34.000 And him mentioning the Bible is just so ridiculous.
00:21:36.000 The only reason I did not get indignant is that there are some portions of the Song of Solomon that are risque.
00:21:43.000 I wouldn't say it's pornography.
00:21:45.000 But the issue has always been visual images for 8-, 9-, and 10-year-olds that are so violating.
00:21:52.000 Not longer holy texts that may or may not be read to kids, which I think is just such an outrageous example for him to try to bring in there.
00:22:04.000 But he was starting to lose and then comes back in.
00:22:07.000 We don't want to talk about that anymore.
00:22:10.000 Also, they call them book bans when it's just, why are we teaching this book?
00:22:16.000 Why is this book in the library for fifth graders?
00:22:19.000 That is not a ban.
00:22:20.000 It is not a ban.
00:22:23.000 It's maybe a ban on pornography, which we can all agree with.
00:22:26.000 So here is another lengthy clip that I want to play.
00:22:31.000 And now before I get into it, I knew the details dangerously enough on this topic.
00:22:38.000 However, this is where Gavin Newsom is his most slippery and his most shifty and the most clever.
00:22:45.000 Anything to do with a detail in California, he will argue from authority, get hyper-aggressive, Talk over you and say, you don't know, you're not from here.
00:22:57.000 This is the most radical trans bill in the country.
00:23:02.000 Without a doubt.
00:23:03.000 Essentially, as it is written, a teacher cannot be fired if they do not tell parents that their kid is transitioning at school, is taking hormones at school, or is calling him or herself vice versa sex.
00:23:20.000 There are other elements of this bill that I was not able to recall.
00:23:23.000 I'll be perfectly honest with you, candidly, right there on the spot.
00:23:26.000 I have a good memory, but it was just, there's so much kind of going on there.
00:23:31.000 The question is, who has sovereignty over our kids?
00:23:33.000 We never got really into that.
00:23:35.000 But anything to do with California, Gavin Newsom will rise up.
00:23:39.000 You don't understand.
00:23:40.000 This is not what, he does this thing with the hands.
00:23:42.000 Let me tell you what's really in the bill.
00:23:44.000 That's not what it is.
00:23:45.000 And I even doubled or tripled down on even the extreme example because, yes, I think a teacher should 100% be fired if the teacher does not tell a parent that their kid is transitioning.
00:23:55.000 Of course I do.
00:23:56.000 Even though that is the more radical extremist interpretation of this bill.
00:24:00.000 So this is just one example of how he...
00:24:02.000 He reacts to anything to do with California.
00:24:04.000 It's also very good for anyone who might be dialoguing with Gavin in the future, anyone that might be debating against him in the future.
00:24:10.000 When it comes to California, not only do you need to know your stuff, you have to be willing to get into the trenches because he'll just try to bring you down right into the gutter on the issue.
00:24:20.000 Muddy it up, get into the weeds.
00:24:23.000 It's a very effective debate tactic.
00:24:25.000 Is it rooted in truth?
00:24:26.000 Of course not.
00:24:27.000 Playcut 194. You signed a law where school districts can't even tell parents if their kids are trans.
00:24:32.000 Not true.
00:24:33.000 Factually not true.
00:24:34.000 No, they can.
00:24:36.000 They just can't get fired for not doing that.
00:24:38.000 And it wasn't just trans.
00:24:39.000 They can't get fired for not doing that.
00:24:39.000 The law was explicit, said you can't be fired for not snitching on a kid, not just for being trans, for being gay.
00:24:50.000 And my point is, how in the hell...
00:24:52.000 But shouldn't the parents know?
00:24:53.000 Wait, is telling parents snitching?
00:24:55.000 No.
00:24:57.000 The teachers themselves have the right.
00:24:59.000 They can do that.
00:25:01.000 They can do that.
00:25:02.000 We're not saying you can't do that.
00:25:03.000 We're saying you shouldn't be fired if you choose not to say Johnny was talking about liking some other boy or something.
00:25:10.000 That's a charitable reading.
00:25:11.000 It's not charitable.
00:25:11.000 It's actually the freedom not to snitch.
00:25:14.000 Let me tell you the other way to say this, that a teacher, of course, should be fired if you don't notify a parent of what's happening to their kid.
00:25:22.000 Of course they should be terminated for that.
00:25:24.000 I want these teachers to teach.
00:25:28.000 And by the way, if they feel like the health or safety of their kid, they have a responsibility to communicate.
00:25:33.000 They still can.
00:25:33.000 By the way, we're not selling these teachers they can't.
00:25:36.000 We're saying they won't be fired if they don't look around and say in the recess, there were two boys.
00:25:41.000 Why didn't you see that?
00:25:42.000 You're fired.
00:25:43.000 You should have said something because they're talking about two different things.
00:25:46.000 But there, of course, should be a penalty measure, whether it be termination or whatever.
00:25:50.000 If a teacher withholds information from a parent, because what you're saying is that there's no way to hold them accountable.
00:25:56.000 Accountable to what, though?
00:25:58.000 Accountable to two kids talking about subject matter?
00:26:03.000 All of a sudden now we have to have teachers policing speech or conversations that kids are having.
00:26:08.000 I think you would even agree, Governor, that is an over-extreme example.
00:26:10.000 What we're talking about is if, which happens a lot, unfortunately, is if a young girl says that, hey, I want to transition.
00:26:20.000 And the teacher accommodates and affirms it, and the parent doesn't even know.
00:26:24.000 I have met parents like that in this state.
00:26:25.000 I heard Trump, and then they come back, and there's so much extreme work in this space.
00:26:29.000 I will say, and we don't have to wrestle too much on this topic, but you guys will lose on these topics, and you might disagree.
00:26:35.000 But again, I'm one of those guys, and I appreciate the civility which we're engaged in this conversation sincerely.
00:26:43.000 I don't mind losing.
00:26:44.000 Sometimes you lose on principle.
00:26:45.000 It's one of those things, everything's not political is the point.
00:26:48.000 And sometimes the principle, and by the way, mad respect for you, abortion and same-sex marriage.
00:26:54.000 I hold you for the American people don't agree with me.
00:26:56.000 Exactly.
00:26:56.000 But I admire that on principle.
00:26:58.000 But for me, it's not just political.
00:27:00.000 And I appreciate you making that point.
00:27:02.000 I deeply am mindful of the politics of this, which are very unhelpful.
00:27:07.000 Personally, it's unhelpful.
00:27:09.000 More broadly, professionally, the Democratic Party and our brand.
00:27:12.000 And one of the reasons, to your point, the Democratic Party brand has just been crushed.
00:27:18.000 Your self-awareness is helpful to know.
00:27:21.000 Because it is deeply unpopular.
00:27:23.000 And I think that is an ascendant political force that is not going away.
00:27:28.000 No, I appreciate.
00:27:29.000 But I also appreciate you hold deeply unpopular beliefs as well.
00:27:32.000 Of course I do.
00:27:32.000 But you're not running for office.
00:27:35.000 I'm not going to run for president as a moderate.
00:27:36.000 The facts are this.
00:27:37.000 It's very simple.
00:27:39.000 A California public school teacher is not required to inform parents if their child is transitioning.
00:27:44.000 In July 2024, Governor Newsom signed Assembly Bill 1955, also known as the Support Academic Future and Educators for Today's Youth Act.
00:27:52.000 The legislation prohibits school districts from enacting or enforcing policies that require teachers or other school staff to notify parents about a student's gender identity, sexual orientation, or gender expression.
00:28:05.000 So, he's taking an incredibly extreme interpretation of, and it goes back down to...
00:28:14.000 The core.
00:28:14.000 Whose kids is it?
00:28:15.000 So it doesn't block them from telling, obviously, but it enables teachers who are trying to secretly transition kids while the parents are clueless.
00:28:24.000 Let me say that again.
00:28:25.000 It enables and protects teachers who are secretly trying to transition kids while parents are clueless.
00:28:31.000 And, of course, it empowers the LGBTQ activist teachers who are trying to go after kids and groom them in the classroom.
00:28:39.000 We know that to be correct.
00:28:41.000 And the parents have no idea.
00:28:44.000 These are our kids, meaning parents' kids, not the government's, not the teachers.
00:28:49.000 It is a grooming protection bill.
00:28:52.000 No exaggeration.
00:28:53.000 That's how I should have gone about it.
00:28:55.000 I thought I did okay.
00:28:56.000 I thought we probably went to a draw there.
00:28:58.000 But anything on California, it's very, very difficult to make any progress with it.
00:29:03.000 Very difficult.
00:29:06.000 With the stock market at record highs, are you confident your portfolio can weather the next big downturn?

00:30:10.000 Okay, let's get to a shorter piece of tape here of our sit-down with Gavin Newsom.
00:30:17.000 Let's go to this one.
00:30:20.000 This is a little more fun one.
00:30:21.000 Playcut 182. But it's equally insane that people are boycotting Bud Light.
00:30:26.000 I mean, how is that not called out?
00:30:28.000 Because I don't drink.
00:30:29.000 You don't drink at all?
00:30:30.000 By the way, that's interesting.
00:30:32.000 You don't?
00:30:33.000 Never have?
00:30:34.000 I have, yeah.
00:30:34.000 What happened?
00:30:35.000 A couple years ago, you stopped?
00:30:37.000 I stopped, yeah.
00:30:38.000 Why'd you stop?
00:30:38.000 I just wanted to be more successful.
00:30:40.000 I love that.
00:30:41.000 What were you drinking?
00:30:43.000 Napa Valley wine.
00:30:45.000 Oh, Jesus Christ.
00:30:46.000 Here we go.
00:30:47.000 I'm going to stop using my Lord and Savior in vain.
00:30:49.000 By the way, forgive me.
00:30:51.000 I deeply respect you.
00:30:52.000 And by the way, do respect your pain.
00:30:54.000 I'm serious.
00:30:54.000 It's like the fourth time.
00:30:55.000 I mean, come on.
00:30:59.000 There's a contemplation of how many times he used our Lord and Savior in vain.
00:31:02.000 I kept telling him to stop, and he kept on doing it.
00:31:05.000 Let's go to more.
00:31:08.000 There's so much here.
00:31:09.000 The one I want to get into is Prop 16. So Prop 16 is one of the most radical things that has ever been proposed in the history of the state of California.
00:31:17.000 He was not prepared to be able to defend this, and he tried to weasel out of it, saying, oh, I don't know the details of it.
00:31:23.000 This would have made racial discrimination legal in the state of California, and the voters of California overwhelmingly rejected it.
00:31:30.000 He knew I got him on finally a California detail in 2020. I got him on one California detail.
00:31:35.000 He was not prepared for Prop 16. Kudos to Blake for pulling this one out.
00:31:39.000 And it wasn't like a small thing.
00:31:41.000 This was a major racial reckoning ballot referendum in the middle of 2020 that he endorsed.
00:31:47.000 If you want to see kind of what he believes and why he believes it, he was not prepared for this one.
00:31:52.000 He was, of course, prepared for wildfires, and he was prepared for homelessness.
00:31:56.000 He's got all his little talking points for that.
00:31:58.000 Prop 16, whoop!
00:32:00.000 A little bit off edge there.
00:32:02.000 Play cut 187. By the way, you're talking to someone who's never supported a defund police movement.
00:32:06.000 No, I'm not saying...
00:32:06.000 I know, but...
00:32:06.000 I was explicit.
00:32:07.000 But also...
00:32:08.000 Hold on, one sec.
00:32:08.000 You did support Prop 16 in 2020, which would have legalized racial...
00:32:14.000 Prejudice, right?
00:32:14.000 Prop 16 literally would...
00:32:16.000 I have to go back to my Prop 13. No, no, no.
00:32:18.000 Prop 16...
00:32:19.000 I'm talking 960 SAT, so a little humility here.
00:32:21.000 Hold on, you're the governor of the largest state in the country.
00:32:23.000 No, no, no.
00:32:24.000 I saw your debate against DeSantis.
00:32:25.000 You're good at this stuff.
00:32:26.000 You know what I'm talking about.
00:32:27.000 Prop 16 would have had legalized racial prejudice, which got defeated by 16 points despite all the institutions.
00:32:34.000 So you're asking me what did wokeism look like when California, when all the institutions, yourself included, with all due respect, embraced this insane ballot measure.
00:32:43.000 Guess what?
00:32:44.000 Even the people of California didn't want racial discrimination.
00:32:47.000 Well, I remember California since 1996 has had Prop 209s.
00:32:50.000 There was city council meetings where they said the white people aren't allowed here, right?
00:32:54.000 That's not good.
00:32:55.000 No, it's not good.
00:32:56.000 And so what ends up happening is a broader question of sensible, not racist suburban moms that are like, wait a second.
00:33:05.000 I have an eight-year-old white son.
00:33:07.000 Are you trying to say he's a racist?
00:33:08.000 Yeah.
00:33:09.000 And it creates a backlash that then bubbles up, right?
00:33:12.000 I appreciate the perspective.
00:33:14.000 Yeah, he knows what Prop 16 is, for the record.
00:33:16.000 He knows exactly what it is.
00:33:18.000 I got to go look at my notes.
00:33:21.000 Let's go to this one here.
00:33:24.000 179. More fun.
00:33:26.000 You're talking about your whining and dining at French Laundry.
00:33:29.000 Yes, I was talking about the importance of never.
00:33:34.000 Well, I can't help you with a reservation.
00:33:37.000 I get such a kick out of this whole shtick.
00:33:38.000 I gotta be honest.
00:33:39.000 Very nice.
00:33:40.000 By the way, we couldn't have this conversation with that conversation.
00:33:43.000 Dumbest bonehead move my life, okay?
00:33:45.000 Own it, move on, grow up.
00:33:48.000 Is that you talking to yourself?
00:33:49.000 That's me talking to myself.
00:33:51.000 I'm staring right at you in the eyes as I say that just to get your reaction.
00:33:55.000 Here's the Gigi Ping clip.
00:33:57.000 The French Laundry one we can go on at length.
00:33:58.000 183. Why is it you were able to clean it up for Gigi Ping, but you can't clean it up?
00:34:02.000 Oh, that was you guys.
00:34:02.000 That was the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.
00:34:04.000 By the way, you guys weaponized that.
00:34:06.000 I saw that on 25 things.
00:34:07.000 It was the most ridiculous.
00:34:08.000 You know what?
00:34:10.000 I will happily...
00:34:11.000 Happily revert back to your counterpoint.
00:34:14.000 Can I have the streets as clean as Xi Jinping?
00:34:16.000 In this case, weaponized.
00:34:18.000 In this case, weaponized.
00:34:19.000 Can I get the Xi Jinping streets back?
00:34:21.000 It was ridiculous.
00:34:21.000 Give me a break.
00:34:22.000 Governor, with all due respect, I saw a beautiful picture of San Francisco that looked like Singapore.
00:34:26.000 And then Xi Jinping leaves and the Walking Dead come back.
00:34:29.000 By the way, it was AIPAC who had dozens and dozens of foreign leaders.
00:34:33.000 And California is not San Francisco, but I'm the governor of California, not the mayor of California, not the mayor of San Francisco.
00:34:38.000 You were the mayor, but I just want to understand.
00:34:39.000 Why is it that we have to clean it up?
00:34:41.000 20 years ago.
00:34:42.000 But you have to admit, it's emblematic of something that if enough important people show up, it can get clean.
00:34:46.000 So why not make it clean all the time?
00:34:48.000 That one I was proud of.
00:34:49.000 Which is exactly right.
00:34:51.000 If enough important people show up, San Francisco can be clean.
00:34:55.000 Homelessness is a choice.
00:34:58.000 It's not weaponized.
00:35:00.000 We're not trying to go after marginalized communities.
00:35:03.000 All these talking points.
00:35:04.000 No.
00:35:06.000 Weaponized like when a homeless bum weaponizes a baseball bat to rob someone's car in San Francisco.
00:35:11.000 I like that tape that we just played.
00:35:13.000 Ryan and Andrew, we should tweet that one next.
00:35:15.000 I thought that was a good one.
00:35:16.000 I thought that was a good one.
00:35:17.000 It ended nicely.
00:35:18.000 I thought that was good.
00:35:19.000 If enough important people show up to San Francisco, you can have clean streets.
00:35:23.000 But you can't have clean streets if communist dictators don't show up.
00:35:28.000 To listen to the entire conversation of Gavin Newsom and I, we will continue to post it here.
00:35:34.000 He has it on his podcast page as well.
00:35:36.000 I will say, everything they said they were going to do, they fulfilled.
00:35:39.000 They didn't edit any of it.
00:35:40.000 They gave us the video footage, so thank you to them and their team to do that.
00:35:44.000 They were honest brokers, so that deserves recognition.
00:35:47.000 Thanks so much for listening, everybody.
00:35:48.000 Email us, as always, freedom at charliekirk.com.
00:35:51.000 Thanks so much for listening, and God bless.
