00:03:15.000 And so we are both very pro-life.

00:03:16.000 You have an organization dedicated just to that.

00:03:19.000 Tell us about it.

00:03:20.000 Yeah, we started Students for Life about 15 years ago.

00:03:22.000 We go to high school, college, mid-law school campuses, similar to Turning Point, and start pro-life groups in those campuses to change minds of those most directly targeted by the abortion industry and to help moms on the campus know that she doesn't have to choose between the life of her child and her education.

00:03:39.000 So why are you pro-life?

00:03:40.000 Because every single abortion ends the beating heart of a unique whole human being that never existed before and will never exist again.

00:03:48.000 That is an act of violence and an act of discrimination.

00:03:51.000 Wow.

00:03:52.000 That's a really good summary.

00:03:54.000 It's almost like I do this.

00:03:55.000 Yeah, it's almost like your living is to defend pre-born human beings.

00:03:59.000 That's right.

00:04:00.000 So I want to get into all the specifics and all of that, but let me ask you a question that someone might not have asked you.

00:04:06.000 Are we winning or losing this battle right now?

00:04:08.000 I actually think by the extremism that you're seeing from Nancy Pelosi and the Biden administration in Washington, D.C., it's actually a pretty good sign that we're winning the culture war here.

00:04:19.000 That despite almost 50 years of legal abortion, of them throwing everything they can throw at this, every term that they try to use to never want to talk about what's inside of a mother, that they're still losing this battle.

00:04:33.000 That this generation, when you poll this question, when you actually ask an honest poll question, you will see that the majority of people, regardless of how they view politics or what they call themselves or what isms or labels they give themselves, they're against abortion.

00:04:48.000 That fundamentally we haven't lost our humanity and recognizing the humanity of the pre-born child.

00:04:53.000 And I think you can see by the extremism and how insane they are.

00:04:56.000 I mean, they want to pack the Supreme Court because of one issue.

00:04:59.000 That's exactly. 0.91

00:05:00.000 And that's the issue of abortion. 0.99

00:05:02.000 So I had a dinner recently and it was some friends and they called themselves pro-choice.

00:05:09.000 It was interesting, though, because they all said they knew abortion was wrong, but they didn't want to outlaw it.

00:05:15.000 Yeah.

00:05:16.000 So I don't actually think, well, I shouldn't say that.

00:05:19.000 There are people that don't think abortion is wrong.

00:05:21.000 We know that.

00:05:21.000 I think that number's decreasing.

00:05:23.000 But what's the argument that you make that that which is wrong, termination of a life, should also be illegal?

00:05:29.000 Because that's the kind of the escape hatch, isn't it?

00:05:31.000 Like, oh, I don't like abortion, but I'm not going to tell you what to do with your life. 0.98

00:05:35.000 And that's really the safe pansy answer to say, well, I don't personally like abortion, but I'm not going to tell you what to do. 0.79

00:05:43.000 And that's, well, then you must not actually believe what happens inside of an abortion facility every single day is violence.

00:05:49.000 Because if you saw the broken bodies of 2,700 human beings every night in the nightly news piled up outside of abortion facilities, you would say, my God, we have to end this.

00:06:00.000 We have to do something here.

00:06:02.000 But because it happens behind the closed doors, we could kind of say, well, that's a theoretical question.

00:06:07.000 That's a philosophical question.

00:06:09.000 And we don't see the reality of what's happening.

00:06:12.000 But what happens every single day is an act of violence.

00:06:16.000 And you have to make abortion illegal and unthinkable.

00:06:19.000 Our goal in the pro-life movement is a two-fold goal because you can't just change hearts because you're right.

00:06:24.000 Some people will still have abortions.

00:06:26.000 And you can directly look at 1973, when Roe and Doe were handed down, the rates of abortion skyrocketed.

00:06:33.000 Making abortion legal made a lot of people think that it was morally okay because some people, they shouldn't do this.

00:06:40.000 You know, they get their morals from laws.

00:06:44.000 And you really shouldn't do that if you look through the history of our country because we've messed up sometimes.

00:06:49.000 But you have to make it illegal as well as unthinkable.

00:06:53.000 And laws should reflect natural law.

00:06:56.000 Absolutely.

00:06:57.000 You should be unafraid to say that.

00:06:58.000 Absolutely.

00:06:59.000 And it should also, every law is moral.

00:07:03.000 And anyone who convinces you otherwise is wrong.

00:07:07.000 Let me rephrase that.

00:07:08.000 Every law should be rooted in somebody's morality.

00:07:10.000 Let me say it that way.

00:07:11.000 Meaning, and it should be moral, especially very basic laws, murder, life, imprisonment of another person.

00:07:18.000 So I like your framing.

00:07:19.000 It's an act of violence.

00:07:21.000 Why is that the case?

00:07:23.000 Why is abortion an act of violence? 1.00

00:07:25.000 Yeah, I mean, I agree with you. 0.99

00:07:26.000 I'm just talking about card listening.

00:07:27.000 Yeah, definitely.

00:07:28.000 Abortion is an act of violence because if you think about what happens in an abortion operating room, right? 0.99

00:07:33.000 An abortionist walks in and there are two beating hearts.

00:07:37.000 An abortionist will only know success in his or her job if one of those beating hearts stops.

00:07:44.000 If there are two beating hearts when that abortionist walks out of the room, they have failed in their job.

00:07:50.000 So their mission statement is to lessen the amount of beating hearts.

00:07:54.000 That is violence.

00:07:54.000 That's exactly right.

00:07:56.000 That is a human being that was alive, whole, unique, had a beating heart that wasn't doing anything to anybody else that you've terminated, that you've snuffed out.

00:08:07.000 So let's go through the timeline.

00:08:09.000 I don't actually know these numbers remotely as well as you do.

00:08:12.000 I know them roughly.

00:08:12.000 When does the heartbeat begin?

00:08:14.000 About 21 days after conception, before most women even know that they are pregnant.

00:08:18.000 So that number is contested by some abortionists, but you're saying that it's just a total.

00:08:25.000 Some people say six weeks.

00:08:26.000 Yeah, it's semantics.

00:08:28.000 Can you explain why there's even a disagreement?

00:08:30.000 There's always disagreement.

00:08:31.000 And now even now they'll say, oh, it's not a heartbeat.

00:08:34.000 It's fetocardiac pole activity.

00:08:37.000 Walk us through that. 0.92

00:08:38.000 The reason is, is in order to justify the quote-unquote right to abortion, we have to dehumanize what is inside of a pre-born, inside of a woman. 0.91

00:08:48.000 We'll say not a child. 0.89

00:08:49.000 It's not a baby.

00:08:50.000 It's a fetus.

00:08:51.000 It's a zygote.

00:08:52.000 As if those are alien creatures.

00:08:54.000 I'm like, no, you once were a fetus.

00:08:56.000 You once were a zygote, just like how you may now be an adolescent, right?

00:09:00.000 Or your child is a toddler.

00:09:02.000 It's a stage of your life.

00:09:03.000 You didn't come from it.

00:09:05.000 You once were.

00:09:06.000 But we use those terms, and the abortion industry has been using those terms now for almost five decades to try to, you know, really kind of conflate that.

00:09:15.000 They actually know heartbeat is actually significant.

00:09:18.000 We've been polling it with 18 to 34-year-olds.

00:09:21.000 And when you even ask, you know, this what's quote unquote the most liberal voting block, a lot of people would say in the American electorate, when you poll, even you ask young women about the heartbeat and if abortion should be legal then, they'll all say, no, like, oh, abortion ends a beating heart.

00:09:38.000 Now, the challenge is you have to educate and say, well, did you know that every single abortion ends a beating heart?

00:09:44.000 And then it starts to, you know, cause them to question their previous statement because that might mean if they say they're against abortion, they might have to start changing some of their behavior and no one really wants to do that.

00:09:55.000 So 21 days a heartbeat begins.

00:09:56.000 The abortionists will say that's not the case because it's not a like it is.

00:10:01.000 They'll say, oh, it's not.

00:10:02.000 The heart isn't, the heart is completely formed around six weeks.

00:10:05.000 So they'll say, well, it's not until the heart is completely formed.

00:10:09.000 Okay, so that's helpful.

00:10:12.000 I don't believe that, obviously, but I was confronted by this by an abortionist.

00:10:15.000 They're like, you don't know what you're talking about.

00:10:16.000 It's six weeks.

00:10:18.000 I'm not one to retreat, but I was like, I'm going to kind of dive deeper into this.

00:10:24.000 And I looked online and some sites will say, medical sites, it's six weeks.

00:10:28.000 Other ones say 21 days, but it's 21 days.

00:10:31.000 It starts beating in 21 days.

00:10:33.000 It's fully formed at six.

00:10:35.000 Got it.

00:10:36.000 And so a heartbeat is definitely an indication of life, but let's go a step before that, which is really what we believe, which is when DNA is created.

00:10:45.000 Yes.

00:10:46.000 The point of conception.

00:10:47.000 Why is that when life begins?

00:10:49.000 Because there's never a moment before or after that a unique whole living human being has come into existence.

00:10:56.000 There's like everything after, when egg and sperm unite is just development, is natural development.

00:11:03.000 And it actually becomes a slippery slope, Charlie, because if you say, well, and often I'll hear this on campus, somebody will say, well, I don't think life begins until 21 weeks.

00:11:11.000 And somebody else will say, I think life begins at 18 weeks.

00:11:14.000 I'm like, well, who's to say?

00:11:15.000 It's honestly arbitrary, isn't it?

00:11:16.000 Yes, it's absolutely arbitrary.

00:11:18.000 And we know, once again, looking at human history, that becomes a very slippery slope when you start theming when other people's lives or their worth or value begins.

00:11:28.000 So we have an objective belief in our country of when life ends, but not when life begins.

00:11:33.000 That's right.

00:11:34.000 And the significance of that is a million abortions a year.

00:11:37.000 How many sensoro versus Wade?

00:11:39.000 It's over 60 million abortions. 0.98

00:11:41.000 60 million abortions.

00:11:42.000 And we actually do not know perfect numbers, Charlie, because we do not have a national abortion reporting requirement.

00:11:47.000 The abortion industry gets to voluntarily give their numbers to the Alan Gutmacher Institute, who's named after Eugenesis, the second president of Planned Parenthood.

00:11:55.000 And that's the best numbers we can get as from the pro-abortion industry.

00:11:58.000 What's amazing about the Guttmacher Institute, when you go to their website, they admit that 98% plus of all abortions are for no reason.

00:12:07.000 Yeah.

00:12:07.000 Now, I actually, I'm like you, I think the only reason should be life of the mother.

00:12:11.000 And we could talk about how rare that actually is because people think it's more frequent than it is.

00:12:15.000 And I've come under a lot of heat for that position, but that's my position.

00:12:19.000 And so, but 98.6% from the Guttmacher's own data.

00:12:23.000 Yes, absolutely.

00:12:24.000 Which I don't even believe, it's probably higher than that.

00:12:26.000 Is I want it because it's my right.

00:12:29.000 Or my boyfriend's pressuring me or whatever.

00:12:31.000 Because some states don't even require a reason.

00:12:33.000 It's no fault of it.

00:12:33.000 No.

00:12:34.000 Roe versus Wade and Doe versus Bolton said the woman can would say anything.

00:12:39.000 What is Doe versus Bolton?

00:12:40.000 So when Roe was handed down January 22nd, 1973, a lot of people do not know this, but Roe only legalized abortion the first trimester.

00:12:47.000 The court made up this trimester system the first three months.

00:12:51.000 And the same day, they handed down a second decision, Doe v. Bolton.

00:12:55.000 Doe v. Bolton allows abortion in all nine months of pregnancy for whatever reason, using a loose definition of a woman's health.

00:13:03.000 So you can go in and say, I have mental anguish that's hurting my health.

00:13:07.000 Therefore, abortion can happen up to the moment of birth.

00:13:10.000 So people actually do not, like, I'll be on NPR and people will argue with me that abortions do not happen in ninth month.

00:13:16.000 And you can go to Albuquerque, New Mexico, the late-term abortion capital of the world, where you fly across the globe to abort their children at 37 weeks.

00:13:24.000 So Steve Smotherman's a good friend of mine.

00:13:26.000 He runs a huge church there and he's been fighting against it.

00:13:29.000 He's a great guy, legacy church.

00:13:30.000 I just spoke there.

00:13:31.000 So you're right.

00:13:32.000 They're doing everything they can.

00:13:34.000 And you actually feel the spiritual pressure when you land in Albuquerque.

00:13:37.000 Albuquerque is spiritually dark.

00:13:39.000 It's very dark because of that.

00:13:40.000 I actually think that's connected.

00:13:41.000 People think I'm nuts when I say that, but whatever.

00:13:44.000 So I'm a little confused because I didn't know this.

00:13:48.000 Confusion is not the right word.

00:13:49.000 So there was a Roe versus Wade decision, and you said the day after there was another decade.

00:13:53.000 The same day.

00:13:53.000 Wait, were they two different complaints happening?

00:13:56.000 Yes, there were two different women, one from Tennessee, one from Texas. 1.00

00:14:00.000 And they put them together. 0.94

00:14:01.000 So they're called companion cases.

00:14:03.000 So they were handed down the exact same day, the exact same time.

00:14:07.000 So often when you hear polling, people will say, Do you support Roe versus Wade?

00:14:10.000 Roe versus Wade allowed abortion in the first three months.

00:14:13.000 People say, oh, yeah.

00:14:14.000 But no one knows that Doe v. Bolton, the same day, allows abortion all nine months.

00:14:19.000 And so that is really at the heart of this issue is Doe versus Bolton is the no restrictions at all.

00:14:29.000 Actually, what happened in Ohio this week was significant because the Sixth Circuit of Appeals just upheld Ohio law that bans abortions.

00:14:29.000 Correct.

00:14:38.000 If a woman goes into the abortion facility and says, I want to have an abortion because my child was diagnosed with Down syndrome. 0.55

00:14:43.000 So Down syndrome children, 80 to 90% who are diagnosed in utero are killed via abortion.

00:14:48.000 My children have cystic fibrosis.

00:14:50.000 90% of my children are killed in utero if they're diagnosed with CF.

00:14:55.000 Ohio actually banned abortion, not because of any other reason for women's health, but just said because of the genetic code of the child.

00:15:02.000 Planned Parenthood, the abortion lobby immediately sued, stopped us all.

00:15:06.000 Just this week, the Sixth Circuit of Appeals said this is eugenics and you should not be allowed.

00:15:11.000 This is actually a significant challenge to Roe.

00:15:14.000 Was it a Trump judge or was it?

00:15:16.000 They were, I think, George W. Bush judges, of course.

00:15:19.000 I mean, but this was a significant challenge to Roe and Doe that just happened this week that most people aren't even talking about.

00:15:25.000 So why don't we talk more about Doe versus Bolton?

00:15:28.000 I've never heard of it.

00:15:30.000 That's like surprising.

00:15:31.000 Like, yeah, I mean, that's sad.

00:15:33.000 Like, we need to be talking about more.

00:15:34.000 We always, in Students for Life and the Proof Movement, I always try to say Roe and Doe, Roe and Doe.

00:15:39.000 And when you do polling, we actually did some polling this January and I asked people, How do you feel about Roe?

00:15:45.000 You know, majority of young people said they supported Roe.

00:15:48.000 Then I said, Oh, did you know Roe and Doe?

00:15:51.000 It's a companion case released on the same day, allow abortion all nine months.

00:15:54.000 We immediately saw a 35-point shift and won the majority of the opinion of 18 to 30%.

00:15:59.000 Has Doe ever been seriously challenged?

00:16:03.000 Roe and Doe are challenged.

00:16:05.000 You know, KCV Planned Parenthood was one of the biggest challenges, as you know.

00:16:09.000 And that was the first time the court said the states have an interest, a compelling interest, to listen to allow some abortions to be restricted, to place some restrictions on abortion.

00:16:21.000 The partial birth abortion case of 2007, Gonzalez v. Planned Parenthood, Gonzales v. Carhartt, actually banned for the first time a specific type of abortion.

00:16:32.000 And what the court said there was, well, it doesn't infringe on Roe and Doe because you can still kill a baby late term.

00:16:37.000 You know, you just induce a cardiac arrest, induce a heart attack, and kill a baby late term.

00:16:41.000 You don't have to crush the skull. 0.91

00:16:44.000 So there have been challenges, but fundamentally, what the court has continued to say is access always Trump's safety, and you have to allow women the ability to end the life of their child. 0.71

00:16:55.000 So Roe versus Wade says only the first trimester. 0.71

00:16:58.000 First three months, yes.

00:16:59.000 And Doe versus Bolton says all if you have a medical if you use the definition of health and that health reason can be physical or emotional.

00:17:08.000 So do you think that the abortion lobby has intentionally focused on Roe versus Wade more?

00:17:13.000 Absolutely.

00:17:14.000 Yeah, I mean, you see it all the time.

00:17:15.000 Like oh, yeah, if you see the AP or Royals will do a poll on abortion, they'll say, well, do you support Roe versus Wade?

00:17:22.000 It allows abortion the first three months.

00:17:24.000 And they'll never actually, you'll never hear them say Doe v. Bolton because they don't want they Americans like to think of abortion as rare and only happening in certain circumstances and at very early in pregnancy.

00:17:37.000 No one likes to admit what we all know is that late-term abortions happen and it's certainly not rare and that it's certainly not safe as you know the FDA did just this week.

00:17:46.000 I mean, I don't know if you saw what the FDA did this week, but they pulled the Johnson Johnson vaccine for the COVID vaccine because a woman, a person died.

00:17:54.000 Other people were facing life-threatening complications.

00:17:59.000 It was already made out of abortive fetal stem cells, so the pro-life movement didn't even support the Johnson-Johnson vaccine.

00:18:04.000 The same exact day, the FDA came out and said, We know about 24 women have died from chemical abortion pills.

00:18:13.000 But we're going to let Planned Parenthood continue as they've been doing during COVID, using COVID as an excuse to give out, dispense the abortion pill via webcam, via the mail, without testing a no-test abortion.

00:18:24.000 So you don't even have to confirm you're pregnant before you have a chemical abortion.

00:18:28.000 If you are pregnant and have an atomic pregnancy, when the child is lodged in the floopian tube, it can kill a woman.

00:18:33.000 You don't even have to test for that.

00:18:34.000 You only have to test to see if you're RH negative, meaning if you have an abortion, you're RH negative, your blood type is RH negative, you will never be able to carry another child to term.

00:18:42.000 The FDA doesn't give anything about that.

00:18:45.000 They stopped the Johnson-Johnson vaccine because one person died and other people were seriously injured.

00:18:51.000 And then in the same day, they turned around and said, yeah, well, access Trump safety.

00:18:56.000 So let's talk about the The incentive structure.

00:18:58.000 The abortion industry is one where a lot of people make a lot of money.

00:19:03.000 Talk about that.

00:19:04.000 Yeah, I mean, this is an actual industry.

00:19:06.000 Planned Parenthood receives over $600 million every single year from U.S. taxpayers.

00:19:13.000 A number of states fund abortion in their state Medicaid.

00:19:18.000 You know, historically, the Hyde Amendment has stopped federal taxpayers from funding abortion.

00:19:23.000 Now, Democrats in Congress have gotten rid of the Hyde Amendment.

00:19:26.000 There's a new bill to force all of us to pay for abortions.

00:19:30.000 But they get money.

00:19:31.000 They get money through, you know, President Trump had the Protect Life Rule, which was one of the most significant pro-life victories that banned Planned Parenthood from receiving family planning funds.

00:19:40.000 It said it's not fair if a woman goes into a family planning clinic that there's an abortion facility right nearby, and you're basically using these funds to sell your other procedure that you're charging her for.

00:19:52.000 The Biden administration is already saying they're going to expand Title 10 funding for Planned Parenthood.

00:19:58.000 It is a predatory business.

00:20:00.000 I mean, if you have children, think about what Planned Parenthood is doing.

00:20:03.000 They are on your child's phone.

00:20:06.000 They have their app, Rue.

00:20:07.000 You can go to Roo.

00:20:08.000 You can ask Roo any question, and then it can connect you to a medical professional.

00:20:12.000 If you're, you know, if any question about sexuality, abortion, pregnancy, LGBTQ, transgender, which by the way, Planned Parents, the second largest distributor of transgender hormone replacement, whatever.

00:20:23.000 Yeah, of course, because they make money. 0.97

00:20:23.000 Chemical castration. 0.97

00:20:25.000 That's why they've been, you know, cozying up to the homosexual lobby for so many years. 0.86

00:20:29.000 But Planned Parenthood, they meet your child at school.

00:28:07.000 When you're standing in front of the Planned Parenthood on Saturday morning praying or witnessing to women, no one is ever excited to walk into that abortion facility.

00:28:19.000 Everyone is sad because that is the place of no hope.

00:28:23.000 That is the place of last resort.

00:28:25.000 And Planned Parenthood prays off of that.

00:28:31.000 So if you think about the pro-life movement, starting in the 80s, the pro-life movement set up what's called pregnancy resource centers, pregnancy help centers, crisis pregnancy centers.

00:28:41.000 We have like three different acronyms for these.

00:28:43.000 But we have over 3,000 across the country today that are pregnancy resource centers, as well as maternity homes.

00:28:51.000 Now, these are homes where women can go and live with their children, their other children as well when they're pregnant.

00:28:57.000 They usually can live in the homes till the child they give birth to is one or two.

00:29:01.000 We also have transitional homes for parents who still aren't up on their feet and need help.

00:29:07.000 And those maternity homes provide job skill training and all those resources.

00:29:11.000 But if a woman is pregnant in Dallas today, there are a number of amazing pregnancy centers I know of in Dallas she can walk into.

00:29:20.000 And those women at the center who are volunteer for the most part, all volunteer, they will do everything possible to walk alongside her throughout the crisis of the pregnancy to get her out of the crisis to walk with her until she delivers and then after she delivers.

00:29:36.000 If she wants to put it up for adoption or whatever.

00:29:38.000 If she wants to place her child with an adoptive family, absolutely they have the connections to help her walk her through that, that incredibly brave and self-sacrificial choice.

00:29:49.000 But these are centers that do that and they're for free.

00:30:58.000 They provide every single medical service that Planned Parenthood provides, plus way more services.

00:31:04.000 I actually go to an FQHC back in Pittsburgh because I live in a rural neighborhood.

00:31:09.000 They serve rural and urban underserved neighborhoods.

00:31:13.000 And if you go to one of their centers and you need a medical service or a specialist that they don't have, they're actually legally obligated to make sure you get to a medical health center.

00:31:22.000 If every single Planned Parenthood in America would shut down tomorrow, which is one of my objectives, these federally qualified health centers would only have to see two more patients per week.

00:31:31.000 So those are funded by taxpayers.

00:40:34.000 But I have heard over and over again this thing of, well, you know, if we really are pro-life, we want to take care of the mobs.

00:40:41.000 And then it starts this argument for basically socialism.

00:40:45.000 Government funded this, government funded that.

00:40:48.000 And that's very, very scary.

00:40:50.000 Cause I'm like, have you ever known a socialist government that doesn't kill a communist government that hasn't killed millions?

00:40:57.000 Like that is the antithesis of being pro-life.

00:41:00.000 So can you tell pro-lifers why, why they also must be pro-capitalism?

00:41:07.000 I'm going to give a broader answer, then I'll get specifically to that.

00:41:12.000 So they say, Charlie, I agree with you on the abortion thing, but how could you also be pro-life and want stricter immigration or want more police?

00:41:23.000 And I say, okay, every position I have is a pro-life position.

00:41:26.000 Every single one.

00:41:27.000 It's about the welfare of the human being, every single position.

00:41:31.000 So I want stricter immigration because it's happening on the southern border when women are getting raped when they cross the southern border, when they give birth control to 12-year-olds because they're likely to be kidnapped by cartel members.

00:41:42.000 No, that's why I want stricter immigration.

00:41:45.000 I also care about the welfare of my fellow countrymen.

00:41:47.000 I want more police on the streets of Chicago because that means more people are going to live and not get shot on the way to school.

00:41:54.000 I want school choice because I know that's going to result in a better life for human beings.

00:42:00.000 Every position I have is a pro-life position, including my position on markets.

00:42:05.000 So markets have been the best way to improve human flourishing and well-being.

00:42:11.000 Now, with that being said, I do not believe in markets the way I believe in my religion.

00:42:16.000 I don't.

00:42:17.000 I believe in common sense regulation.

00:42:19.000 I believe in a check and balance.

00:42:21.000 I am by no means purely laissez-faire.

00:42:25.000 In fact, I've become far less in that way in the last couple of years, especially with some of the corporate tyranny we're living under.

00:42:31.000 And I think that's something that we just all have to admit that's happening.

00:42:34.000 With that being said, though, entrepreneurs, small business owners, people taking risks, private property is a moral need for a nation.

00:42:41.000 Why?

00:42:42.000 Founding fathers understood this, life, liberty, and private property, not pursuit of happiness.

00:42:46.000 It was originally life, liberty, private property, as John Locke wrote it.

00:42:49.000 It's because the Bible talks about this very clearly, your capacity to be able to own something is an extension of your consciousness, an extension of who you are, to be able to... accumulate wealth, to be able to provide for your family.

00:43:04.000 These are moral goods and needs.

00:43:05.000 It says in the scriptures very clearly, a man does not work, he does not eat.

00:43:09.000 And this is the best way to abolish poverty.

00:43:11.000 It's the best way to lift people up from their current socioeconomic circumstances.

00:43:15.000 And my belief system very clearly is that a socialist, communist, collectivist viewpoint, which is now happening very quickly, is directly tied together to the dehumanization movement of abortion.

00:43:27.000 I love human beings so much.

00:43:29.000 I believe that they're better than getting a government check.

00:43:32.000 I love human beings so much.

00:43:33.000 I believe that they are able to break out of the poverty that they're in.

00:43:37.000 Only markets can do that, or at least the freedom that markets provide.

00:43:41.000 And I refuse to indulge in this argument that like, oh, they're always going to be poor.

00:43:48.000 Then why not abort them?

00:43:50.000 That's the argument that people make.

00:43:52.000 So they're tied together.

00:43:53.000 It's the bigotry of low expectations.

00:43:56.000 It's like, oh, I don't think that that person in Philadelphia can achieve the success.

00:44:01.000 Therefore, they need all of these government programs.

00:44:03.000 Don't get me wrong.

00:44:03.000 I think that there should be assistance.

00:44:05.000 I just want it to be a safety net, not a hammock.

00:44:08.000 And I believe that we have a whole culture of government dependency.

00:44:11.000 But in your view, and this is for your listeners to think about, if deep down they're thinking themselves, I don't think they can make it.

00:44:18.000 I don't think, I think that I think so lowly of that person in New York City that they, I must provide them a government subsidized check, that leads to abortion before you could ever believe.

00:44:30.000 Because what you're really saying is that I don't actually think they can break out of their current circumstances.

00:44:35.000 What you and I believe is actually the highest fulfillment and the flourishing of human beings.

00:44:40.000 And that's a holistic pro-life stance.

00:44:42.000 That's absolutely right.

00:44:42.000 I mean, it's kind of what we hear a lot on campuses of, well, we should just eliminate the suffer, not the suffering.

00:44:49.000 Yes.

00:44:50.000 Capitalism can eliminate the suffering.

00:44:52.000 It can generate wealth.

00:44:53.000 Yes, and opportunity and improvement of goods and services.

00:44:57.000 And you got to another point here, which is first freedoms of not just markets, not just private property, but speech.

00:45:04.000 God bless our founding fathers.

00:45:05.000 I mean, students for life would be criminalized in Canada.

00:45:07.000 Yeah.

00:45:08.000 Absolutely.

00:45:08.000 This idea of I, we are the speaking beings, Aristotle said.

00:45:12.000 That means that our capacity to think, our capacity to reason is rooted in our capacity to speak.

00:45:16.000 And that's a moral good.

00:45:18.000 You're only going to get rid of abortion if you can speak.

00:45:21.000 It's not going to happen if you can't convince people, right?

00:45:23.000 And Isaiah says, Isaiah 1, we are going to reason together.

00:45:35.000 And so I love markets because I love human beings.

00:45:39.000 I love freedom because I care about the moral good of every human being that's right now in the womb that's getting crushed.

00:45:44.000 No, the only way for them to be able to live a full life as Christ commanded us is if the government protects the freedoms that God grants them.
