00:00:00.000 Okay, I wasn't expecting this. I was just trying to be an observer and take it all in.
00:00:08.720 Wow, you put me on the spot. That doesn't happen very often.
00:00:12.280 What can I tell you? Many times I reflect about what I'm doing and how much effort I'm putting
00:00:21.820 into this and am I doing the right thing? And every time I reflect on that question
00:00:31.900 and with increasing clarity when I reflect on that question, I know the answer.
00:00:40.800 And the simple truth is, by every objective and practical measure, it makes tremendous sense
00:00:49.300 for Alberta to become independent.
00:00:53.060 It's that simple.
00:00:56.980 I've been watching with interest and concern
00:01:00.240 what's happening in the world right now
00:01:04.360 with the Strait of Hormuz being closed.
00:01:08.200 And there's the obvious.
00:01:10.320 There's the oil.
00:01:11.960 Well, we're okay.
00:01:13.500 We're okay for that because we have the third large reserve of oil.
00:01:17.340 there's a shortage of natural gas now
00:01:21.720 for reasons you've been following
00:01:23.240 with the blowing up of plants
00:01:26.660 and also just trapping the ships that transport it
00:01:29.800 we're okay for that
00:01:32.940 but there's something else that's about to happen
00:01:35.520 which is a lot of those ships 0.80
00:01:38.820 ship fertilizer
00:01:40.760 and there's increasing concern in the United States
00:01:44.700 about the ability of farmers in Iowa
00:01:47.200 and across the Great Plains to get enough fertilizer
00:01:51.780 to put their crops in.
00:01:54.180 There's the latest one from today
00:01:57.040 is we're about to hit a global shortage of sulfuric acid,
00:02:01.320 which is used in mining and industrial processes.
00:02:05.820 Acute shortage of diesel.
00:02:07.420 Have you seen what's happening in Australia?
00:02:09.580 They're going into COVID-level lockdowns.
00:02:13.900 Alberta has five refineries.
00:02:17.200 Australia, think about how big it is, has two.
00:02:24.020 We produce three to four times as much gasoline, jet fuel, diesel in a day
00:02:32.380 than they do in the whole country of Australia.
00:02:34.840 We are a net exporter of nitrogen-based and urea fertilizers.
00:02:43.680 We also produce significant amount of sulfuric acid.
00:02:48.640 In other words, when you look at the things that are bringing the global economy to a halt,
00:02:55.480 Alberta has them in spades and on scale that most other countries,
00:03:02.340 just about every other country doesn't have.
00:03:04.760 So why are we not the most prosperous nation on the earth?
00:03:08.560 why are we in the situation we're in we know why because we have deliberate ideological policies
00:03:16.860 from ottawa with a structure that allows them to determine our kids future to rob them of their 0.96
00:03:23.600 future so i would just close by saying i didn't expect to get brought up thank you for this
00:03:29.760 opportunity i'm so happy everybody's here i just wanted to come i'm usually at the front of the
00:03:34.320 room i wanted to sneak in nobody knew i was coming brought my wife with me she's a canvasser by the 0.98
00:03:39.540 way if anybody hasn't signed um and uh and experience it from the other side and i'm glad i
00:03:46.680 did but be clear in your mind again by every practical measure this makes sense the insanity
00:03:55.380 is only that it's gone on so long there's going to be we're going to hit the numbers there's going
00:04:01.880 to be a referendum. There's going to be lots of confusion along the way. There's going to be lots
00:04:07.120 of people saying things like, oh, it's not going to work now. Myself and others have gamed out
00:04:14.260 every possible scenario. So we're ready for everything they're going to throw us at us.
00:04:20.480 There's a pathway to success. I'm working with some other people right now, and it's not public,
00:04:25.740 although a few people know about it. It's called the Alberta Transition Council. High-level people
00:04:31.600 We're putting together a detailed transition plan for Alberta.
00:04:35.420 We'll move from a province to an independent country, including term sheets for negotiations with Ottawa,
00:04:44.360 simultaneous negotiations with Ottawa and Washington,
00:04:49.080 so that when we vote on October 19th, we can start the process of transition the day after.
00:04:56.960 Thank you very much.
00:05:01.600 Thank you.
