00:17:48.840 located adjacent to and has a sizable muslim community in a screenshot of an email that

00:17:55.660 circulated widely in social media the school administration writes that the cafeteria would

00:17:59.560 be designated as a space where muslim students can go while fasting to avoid other students

00:18:04.780 eating their lunch the screenshot was posted and reposted on social media sites such as facebook

00:18:11.020 x twitter with one twitter post garnering almost a million views in a statement addressing the

00:18:16.400 issue the calgary board of education cbe did not deny the validity of the email but said

00:18:22.060 quote unquote that the school in the social media post always has different grades eating in

00:18:26.680 different spaces in the building no changes have been made to these detonated lunch areas students

00:18:31.340 are still eating in designated lunch spaces during ramadan alternative foodless spaces and activities

00:18:36.800 are available for fasting students they are not around others who are eating the school does not

00:18:41.840 provide cafeteria food services the statement from the CBE continues the board also stated that

00:18:47.500 the action undertaken by the school falls under their religion and education policy which says

00:18:53.100 they should offer reasonable accommodation to students the definition of reasonable accommodation

00:19:05.500 resources and facilities of the school and potential impact on others if CBE can accommodate

00:19:10.620 as requested we should do so as the statement says on the fairfield schools website under the

00:19:16.600 lunchtime section it states they are no longer offer a cafeteria service and that other than

00:19:21.940 grades eight or nine students eat their lunch in their homerooms or designated lunch space okay so

00:19:28.540 that seems pretty much pandering to me ladies and gentlemen i will leave this article in the
