Greetings, ladies and gentlemen. It is November 19th, 2019.
00:00:05.540
Today's podcast will consist on the whole fallout issue with Don Cherry and Jess Allen and comments being made in big, bad words.
00:00:13.580
And more ghost hunting. All that more coming up on the Krusty Connect podcast. Stay tuned.
00:00:37.460
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, what I mentioned earlier in regards to Don Cherry and Jess Allen.
00:00:43.480
Yes, the whole controversy and comments made. Don Cherry making his comments on Coach's Corner.
00:00:48.720
And, of course, the ever-so-timed Whitley rebuttal from the Ladies League on The Social.
00:00:55.800
Yes, yes, The Social. Such an informative show, that is. Not.
00:01:01.680
If those of you who have followed Coach's Corner for a very, very long time, like myself, my father, other hockey fans, other Canucks such as myself, and all around general public,
00:01:13.060
you've always seen and heard the difference of opinion between Ron McClain and Don Cherry, respectively.
00:01:25.320
You know, they always come across as Ron McClain, the Mr. Level-Headed ex-hockey ref, and Don Cherry, the outspoken and well-to-do ex-coach.
00:01:37.540
He coached Colorado Rockies before they became the New Jersey Devils.
00:01:41.000
And he's been involved with hockey all of his natural life, as well as made himself a millionaire by business deals and chains of restaurants, what have you.
00:01:51.560
I remember the TV show, The Grapevine, Don Cherry's Grapevine, where he'd interview all the hockey stars of the day.
00:02:05.560
And the list goes on, on some of the people he conversed with in the game of hockey.
00:02:09.860
Now, Don Cherry has always been outspoken when it comes to veterans, military, social challenges, what have you.
00:02:18.620
But, through every time that I have watched his program, he has never, ever, I say this again, ladies and gentlemen,
00:02:25.780
he has never, ever been blatantly racist, blatantly sexist, blatantly misogynist, right?
00:02:32.280
To quote some of these people who encourage this cancel culture.
00:02:42.100
I disagreed about certain face masks, you know.
00:02:45.880
I've been chipped a couple times in the face while playing hockey, so yeah, I wore a visor for obvious reasons.
00:02:54.240
But there was never any kind of letter-writing campaign that I can think of that wanted to get him off the air, you know.
00:03:02.420
Of course, government-sponsored, you know, broadcasters such as the CBC and certain radio stations, you know,
00:03:09.360
have to call another government office to investigate him.
00:03:11.560
I'll leave a link to some of these ridiculous investigations that Don Cherry's had after the podcast,
00:03:18.360
when you'll find it at the bottom of the page there.
00:03:21.860
And even online, when I posted on my webpage and Facebook that Don didn't deserve it.
00:03:27.740
You know, as far as I'm concerned, he didn't deserve it.
00:03:31.360
Maybe a stern talking to or a pee-pee slap or something like that.
00:03:34.360
But the whole political outrage, what gets me, is that people are always up in arms when a sportscaster or a broadcaster says something.
00:03:46.420
And yet, our beloved cabinet, our elected officials, the past four to five years,
00:03:51.740
they've been doing things and saying things that are just as stupid or, as some would say, a little more fucking horrendous
00:04:02.240
Now, I have been in situations where I've been called you people.
00:04:07.040
And I've been in situations where I've been called this and I've been called that.
00:04:10.940
And you'll look at, it's an individual who said it.
00:04:14.240
You turn around, you call him a bitch or a dick or whatever, or her a bitch or a dick, whatever.
00:04:19.600
And there has never been any kind of ceremonious witch hunt or outcry over it.
00:04:26.080
You know, those individuals, if they did something wrong, they were treated harshly.
00:04:34.940
But what I'm seeing here now is I'm seeing such outrage over a dynamic that has been going on for 38 years.
00:04:45.220
Here's a guy, self-made, self-taught, basically, created such a following and dedication just because of his outspoken ways
00:05:03.280
Now, he has been to Afghanistan to see the troops.
00:05:05.560
He has met Americans and Canadian soldiers alike.
00:05:10.580
And some American friends have actually sent me emails stating that, yeah, he's a class act, not just because of his wealth,
00:05:20.540
You know, when he says magical words like kookaloos and stuff like that, talking about climate change
00:05:26.120
and making fun of the Weyrton-Willie issue, that was hilarious.
00:05:32.220
And I'm pretty sure his intentions was to be funny, too.
00:05:36.560
Now, there's some of my other friends out there who are worried about racial divide.
00:05:47.800
It might have been somewhat ignorant, but not to a point where you get let down
00:05:50.800
and be held accountable for Canada's social issues because of it.
00:05:56.500
Now, with that being said, let's take Jess Allen, you know, one of the broadcasters on the show, The Social,
00:06:04.780
CTV's knockoff of the American counterpart of The View.
00:06:09.660
You know, all these ladies from diverse backgrounds weighing in on today's social challenges and aspects in media and what have you.
00:06:16.220
And Miss Chess Allen, in her infinite wisdom, talking about hockey and how it impacted her in a negative way
00:06:23.140
And I'll leave a link at the bottom here, too, just for yourself.
00:06:25.660
But when I look at people like Jess Allen, and there I am, I'm saying that you people, like Jess Allen,
00:06:33.220
ooh, I'm such an effective person, sitting there weighing in because you had a bad experience with hockey, you know,
00:06:39.360
and then labeling, oh, the white hockey boys or whatever she said.
00:06:43.940
To sum it all up, she had to throw in the color there, too,
00:06:47.320
making it sound like that every kid that played hockey was one a goon or some kind of bigot
00:06:53.120
or some kind of racist or some kind of misogynist.
00:06:55.660
Now, I played organized hockey until I was about 15 years old, and then I stopped, right?
00:07:01.400
I had no prospects of going anywhere other than just my local town leagues and just playing along
00:07:10.280
And I played with some kids that were good, and I played with some kids that were bad.
00:07:14.280
I don't recall any of them making it big in the OHL and the NHL.
00:07:21.520
I don't recall too many of these so-called superstars that I played with getting any farther than high school hockey
00:07:28.920
or, if they're lucky, maybe some post-secondary.
00:07:31.200
But we all played the game, and yet there were buffoons and there were goons and there were idiots
00:07:37.900
and there were good players and there were leaders,
00:07:40.620
and there was quite a diverse mix of personalities involved with the game.
00:07:46.580
And I played with, quote-unquote, black kids, and I played with native kids.
00:07:59.220
To make a long story short, regardless of what you get into and where you grew up,
00:08:04.020
there is going to be a negative impact on something.
00:08:07.120
And the point I'm trying to make to Ms. Jess Allen is that your comment was just as terrible,
00:08:12.100
if not more than terrible, than what Don Cherry said.
00:08:19.020
Now, you can think that he was directing it at brand-new Canadian immigrants
00:08:22.880
or brand-new Canadians or immigrants of this or people of this color or that color,
00:08:27.300
but he did not specify any certain color, any certain creed, any certain religion,
00:08:35.980
And it might have been brutish, but he made a valid point, as every other Canadian does.
00:08:43.760
And it doesn't matter if you agree with it or not.
00:08:45.240
But people are on television making points all the fucking time.
00:08:49.220
I'm here making a point, but I'm not forcing you to listen to my show, now am I?
00:08:55.080
There's many other podcasters and other homegrown broadcasters out there doing the same thing.
00:09:02.860
Well, I don't agree with this, I don't agree with that.
00:09:04.720
I have fellow soldiers that I served with who don't agree with some of my points.
00:09:09.460
And I'm fortunate enough to engage with them in a positive and social manner.
00:09:16.960
But this whole cancer culture mentality, where you take one guy,
00:09:20.860
it doesn't matter if he's 85 years old, and it doesn't matter if he's 45 years old.
00:09:24.740
It doesn't matter if he's white, black, pink, purple, whatever.
00:09:28.280
It doesn't matter if she's white, pink, black, or purple.
00:09:31.740
It is the same frickin' favoritist bullshit when it comes to, well, she said it, it's okay.
00:09:40.720
Or it is bad if he says this, or it's bad if he says that.
00:09:45.880
You know, I don't care what apologies supposedly came out of CTV or the people at the social.
00:09:56.020
If you're going to fire Don Cherry for saying that, then you fire Jess Allen too.
00:10:02.380
What's good for the goose is good for the fuckin' gander.
00:10:21.380
And it come to a point in my life where I bullied back.
00:10:39.880
A lot of people do worship the game because it's a great fuckin' sport.
00:10:52.900
Hell, I even take the time to watch some Scottish shinty once in a while.
00:11:02.260
But to sum it all up, you know, hockey has made a lot of Canadians happy.
00:11:11.040
And it helped a lot of kids develop and turn into functioning adults.
00:11:18.920
So, you know, if your lived experience, Miss Allen, was that so fuckin' terrible because of the game of hockey.
00:11:27.640
And yet, you have every right to speak your mind like you did.
00:11:35.600
So, if you want to cut it up into equality, fine.
00:11:40.540
You punish them both for saying such hideous things.
00:11:43.280
Do I believe Don Cherry should have been fired for what he said?
00:11:47.160
Do I believe Miss Allen should have been fired for what she said?
00:11:53.460
But if you're going to fire Don, then you fire Jess too.
00:12:00.560
Everybody in this country, as far as I'm concerned, has the right to speak their minds, to express themselves freely.
00:12:09.480
And if you're constantly going to hide behind words and be scared, and oh my goodness, Don Cherry said, you people.
00:12:16.320
Well, the panel of the social kept saying, you people.
00:12:19.440
Greta Thunberg has said, you people, how dare you?
00:12:23.320
Don didn't specify what race, or what gender, or what color, or what ideology.
00:12:33.540
He just told people to smarten up and take into account.
00:12:45.660
And Mr. Cherry was just showing his appreciation and love for our veterans, our serving members, and for everybody who gave their lives for our country.
00:12:59.820
And there's nothing wrong with that, folks, regardless of how you feel about warfare.
00:13:06.320
Those individuals that have sent me some hateful emails in the past week or so.
00:13:10.300
So, you know, I don't sit around watching, you know, Call of Duty, getting a semi, getting ready to, you know, get out there and play the five-knuckle shuffle.
00:13:27.920
And a lot of my friends have incurred real battles with real bullets.
00:13:45.720
If you're going to sit there and persecute any broadcaster for saying something, then you hold that person into account if he or she says something stupid.
00:13:54.760
But you keep throwing the race card up there in this victimhood mentality.
00:14:08.480
But, yes, we constantly have to walk around on tiptoe on everyone's fucking feelings just so somebody doesn't get offended.
00:14:17.400
You know, Jagmeet Singh and his infinite wisdom weighing in.
00:14:19.820
Oh, this is a picture of my great-grandfather who fought in a war.
00:14:25.020
And I'm well aware of how many Sikhs stood up for the British Empire and did wonderful fucking things.
00:14:31.200
I'm well aware of how many Africans who stood up for the British Empire and did some wonderful things.
00:14:38.740
But the point Don Cherry was making is that if you come here, you know, do what you can to show something.
00:14:55.400
But in the same sense, he didn't say anything racial either.
00:14:58.060
So, Mr. Singh, Don Cherry was not saying anything bad about your grandfather.
00:15:04.220
And he's well aware there's numerous immigrants who have come to this country and a lot of First Nations who signed out a line for his or her majesty, respectively.
00:15:20.360
Except when you keep mentioning white people like Miss Allen did.
00:15:28.440
Well, I should be ashamed for being a white male.
00:15:32.060
I should be ashamed for being employed and I should be ashamed for paying my bills and paying my taxes and volunteering my time and effort to spend 20 years serving my nation.
00:15:41.360
And then now I'm out and I'm still working, still paying my bills, still paying my taxes.
00:15:46.100
Now I actually had a standstill for paying taxes right now because I'm encouraging people not to file until this government gets back to fucking work.
00:15:55.480
So, while the outrage is going on about Don Cherry saying what he said and Jess Allen saying what she said, we have a government that just finished an election, 21st of October.
00:16:05.320
And sure, now they're sidestepping and interviewing and talking with the Prime Minister and his, you know, infinite wisdom of progress.
00:16:18.260
You know, they're going to sit in Parliament on the 5th of December and finally try to get back to work.
00:16:26.700
A couple months off to campaign for the election?
00:16:30.300
And of course, you know, Justin had to take another fucking surfing trip.
00:16:34.740
And now he's talking to all the opposition leaders and, you know, Quebec's weighing in with their Le Quebecois bullshit.
00:16:50.560
You know, they fought hard for two months to be elected again or to get more seats.
00:16:57.360
And now they have another couple months off before they get back to work.
00:17:01.520
It must be nice to earn $175,000 at minimum a year to go back to work four months after the fact.
00:17:10.500
So, no wonder the sediment in Alberta and Saskatchewan is WEGZIT.
00:17:15.860
The sentiment is just basically, okay, we're getting tired of this shit.
00:17:21.700
A few people have actually asked me, how do you feel about WEGZIT, Krusty?
00:17:37.360
I love the fact that Alberta is a great province.
00:17:39.480
I love the fact that Nunavut is a great territory.
00:17:45.920
And I hate to see it turn to shit because a handful of people in Ontario, and I'm not
00:17:50.660
talking Ontarioans, I'm talking about a handful of people in Ontario that are elected officials
00:18:00.100
And I really would like to take a shovel to Le Bloc Québécois leader.
00:18:08.120
Not for the sake of encouraging violence, but to hear that nominal ding.
00:18:15.580
I'm not encouraging violence here, ladies and gentlemen, but I want to start knocking some
00:18:25.100
What makes you better than everybody else in the country?
00:18:29.620
You ride the coattails of diversity, and you ride the coattails of inclusivity, and yet
00:18:39.860
La Belle Provence, in its infinite wisdom, sitting there talking about the Bloc and how they
00:18:44.560
should get this and get that, and yet they passed a Bill 21 that forbids anybody from
00:19:00.060
I don't like dwelling it with these clowns, because they all piss me off.
00:19:04.380
And some of these Wexit guys who are talking about just separating us like that, I can see
00:19:16.020
Maybe call me biased, whatever, but I don't know.
00:19:28.580
It was a close margin, but you would think something like that would smarten the country
00:19:35.220
You know, who we elect to call and who we put in charge of things here.
00:19:38.880
And now you're having a Wexit issue, and a lot of people are weighing in, saying, yes,
00:19:46.100
sure, yes, we got to, you know, to find some kind of solidarity, to find prosperity, you
00:20:02.520
And there is a lot of diversity out here, ladies and gentlemen.
00:20:18.520
It's not a matter of having a ratio of how many Asians versus whites, or how many whites
00:20:22.420
versus East Indians, or how many East Indians versus African descendants.
00:20:26.220
It's a matter of who can bring the best knowledge to the game, who can bring the best ideas, who
00:20:34.980
can prove that he or she has what it takes to get something on the go.
00:20:40.260
But instead, we got to worry about this diversity issue, this dilemma, equity and quality and
00:20:45.360
quotas, diversity quotas, gender quotas, right?
00:20:51.480
It's one of the reasons why the pipeline wasn't going to get built, because they got some freaking
00:20:55.320
diversity quota in there, some gender quota, how it's going to socially impact people.
00:21:00.800
Well, anything, infrastructure, anything that's going to be built is going to have its impact
00:21:06.980
It's not just going to impact one woman or 10 men.
00:21:10.180
It's going to impact all women and all men in that area.
00:21:14.020
It doesn't take rocket science to figure that out.
00:21:16.440
And usually, if something's being built in a certain area, it's in the name of progress.
00:21:24.400
So it's going to affect a lot of people, economically, socially, right?
00:21:29.480
And of course, the environment, which, you know, I believe in protecting the environment,
00:21:33.400
but I'm also in cahoots with common sense, too.
00:21:38.380
I'm not going to go fishing one day and then dump my lunch garbage into the river.
00:21:46.440
But you're not going to turn around and charge me another 50 cents a liter of gasoline
00:21:50.140
just to get to my fishing spot, either, and call it your protecting environment.
00:21:55.500
Anyhow, ghost hunting, as I mentioned earlier, ladies and gentlemen, that's what it is.
00:22:05.460
And as I mentioned numerous times in my videos, if you believe in free speech, then you do it.
00:22:10.520
Can't say, I believe in free speech, but you can't say this.
00:22:13.880
Well, okay, but you can't walk into a theater and say fire, fire, fire during your favorite performance of the Transformers.
00:22:26.520
But if you're on a TV show once a week for about maybe 10, 15 minutes like Don Cherry and Ron McClain were respectively for the better part of 38 years,
00:22:36.640
and you say this and you say that, why are we holding him accountable on such a high pedestal
00:22:43.640
when you have shows like The Social and The View and The Chew and all these ladies' issues guaranteed shows
00:22:52.280
all talking about feelings and getting together, but you better comply to what we say or else mentality.
00:23:00.740
That was a long, that was a long little spurge.
00:23:03.440
But, you know, think for yourself, folks, you know.
00:23:07.920
Like I said, there are many times I disagree with Don Cherry and I disagree with Ron McClain, you know,
00:23:12.360
but they would what made Hockey Night in Canada worth watching sometimes, too.
00:23:18.040
You know, their tongue-in-cheek and their back-and-forth excellent, you know.
00:23:23.460
And that was a staple in viewing for the better part of 40 years, ladies and gentlemen.
00:23:31.540
And now we just got to stop because a handful of people were offended or was a handful of guilt, guilty people,
00:23:38.780
you know, people with a guilty conscience for some sort offended, you know.
00:23:44.600
And yet, where was the hidden outrage when Jess Allen said what she did?
00:23:48.300
And thankfully, there were people that wrote CTV and The Social and said,
00:23:55.160
But if you're going to fire Don, you should have fired Jess, too.
00:24:00.360
If it was up to me, I'd say I'd bring back Don and I'd say, okay, buds, turn down, you know,
00:24:04.440
tone down a bit on the fucking you people thing.
00:24:06.280
And I'd tell Jess Allen, lay off this whole male privilege bullshit
00:24:15.620
And then keep the airlines, sorry, keep the airwaves, airlines, fuck.
00:24:28.880
I don't think the whole Don Cherry dilemma is a big issue,
00:24:32.120
but it's starting to prove what we're being allowed to say,
00:24:37.900
And who's allowed to say this and who isn't allowed to say this, right?
00:24:44.040
It reminds me of a headline I read today about the whole new Charlie's Angel movie
00:24:47.800
that Elizabeth Banks, you know her from Hunger Games
00:24:52.060
and what the hell is that movie she made with Seth Rogen?
00:24:56.520
Jim and Miri make a porno or something like that.
00:25:07.300
or men who don't want to see female action stars
00:25:12.480
Because the movie only made something like $8 million
00:25:16.300
It's only been out for maybe two or three days.
00:25:17.640
So I guess to some business standards, that's flopping.
00:25:26.540
Not that I really care about a new Charlie's Angel movie or not.
00:25:42.640
And they weren't expecting any kind of gratuitous applause
00:25:51.720
the moment something doesn't work for a director
00:26:03.200
I would sooner see Sir Gordy Weaver in Galaxy Quest II
00:26:08.820
I would sooner see Sir Gordy Weaver kicking aliens' asses,
00:26:15.980
Or seeing her again in another avatar, you know.
