00:00:07.140 Friday, October 2nd to Wednesday, October 7th.
00:00:10.300 Valid in-store and online.
00:00:18.900 Okay, a lot on today's program.
00:00:20.880 Today is a really important show.
00:00:22.480 I mean, you get a lot out of it if you listen to the whole show,
00:00:25.120 but if you only have a certain amount of time,
00:00:27.160 this is the podcast for you.
00:00:28.820 Iran's letter before the collapse.
00:00:31.280 This letter, no, I have not heard anybody talk about that.
00:00:33.660 This is a training manual.
00:00:35.140 This is a cry for the universities.
00:00:38.240 Help us, help us, help us.
00:00:40.340 Also, Chris Hansen, I saw this movie because he was going to be on.
00:00:43.820 I asked for him to be on because I've been reading about this movie,
00:00:45.840 and I decided I'd go see the movie, what is it, Primetime.
00:00:48.680 Oh, the worst movie, literally the worst movie I've ever seen.
00:00:52.520 I mean, there's nothing in its category it's so bad.
00:00:55.100 um and why was this movie made is it a love for pedophilia a hate for chris hansen we talked to
00:01:03.640 him about that and broken families and toxic narcissism you don't want to miss that if you're
00:01:09.580 having a problem with friends or family that have cut you off all this and so much more on today's
00:01:15.080 podcast. So Iran's state news agency posted a 26 page open letter to the quote honorable people
00:01:39.920 of the United States of America, not to the president, not to Congress. It is addressed
00:01:45.580 to our scholars by name, to our scholars, our students, and our media. They know exactly who
00:01:54.060 it is that they want carrying this message and who is most likely to carry it for them here in
00:01:58.880 the United States. The letter says, Iran has won the war, and it lists 12 strategic victories.
00:02:05.500 It says, our bases are ghost towns.
00:02:09.260 Our ships have fled into the Indian Ocean.
00:02:11.760 I don't know if they know we have GPS.
00:02:13.960 Our troops ran from their barracks in their underwear.
00:02:18.140 It says 40 million people mourned the late Supreme Leader,
00:02:21.060 and the procession, if it would have been held in New York,
00:02:23.460 we would have wept as well.
00:02:25.460 Yeah, probably because we've been like,
00:02:26.940 do you know what you're doing to traffic?
00:02:30.060 Nations that win wars, I want you to know,
00:02:33.440 don't mail 26 pages to the other side's college students explaining that they won okay they send
00:02:40.240 pages insisting that death to america doesn't really mean death to america they assure us in
00:02:46.300 writing that not one store shelf in iran has gone empty and they invite us to fly over and see for
00:02:53.820 ourselves oh okay i'll do that a covenant government does not do can do you think president
00:03:01.180 Trump is going to write them a letter and says, you know, I want you to know there's cocktail
00:03:07.680 weenies at every grocery store in America. No, you don't brag about your grocery store shelves
00:03:14.020 if you're winning. A confident government doesn't need to do things, you know, and say things like
00:03:20.720 it's a chant. Now, read closely on this. If you read it closely, you realize this isn't one letter.
00:03:30.160 This is five letters stapled together, and I will bet you Dugan or somebody else, maybe here or even in America, help them write this.
00:03:39.440 So there's five letters.
00:03:41.180 First one is for the left, and it's all about Gaza, the police shootings, prison rates, climate, slavery, the No Kings rallies, which they praise by name.
00:03:53.060 Then they have one for the right.
00:03:55.620 Endless wars, the swamp, the billionaires, $40 trillion of debt, 0.65
00:03:59.820 the factories that left, illegal immigration.
00:04:03.060 Then one is for the anti-war crowd. 0.87
00:04:06.160 Close all 800 bases and bring everybody home.
00:04:10.580 One is for the conspiracy crowd.
00:04:13.200 It floats September 11th as a false flag run by our own intelligence agencies. 0.96
00:04:18.340 And one is for Christians. 0.98
00:04:20.100 It quotes Jeremiah.
00:04:22.360 It quotes Matthew and Luke.
00:04:23.860 and it holds up the golden rule.
00:04:27.540 They even work in the White House ballroom
00:04:29.460 and the name of the Kennedy Center.
00:04:31.140 This thing is absolutely amazing.
00:04:33.920 They are throwing everything,
00:04:35.840 including the kitchen sink, into this letter.
00:04:38.980 Every faction in this country gets a paragraph
00:04:41.820 that sounds like its favorite show.
00:04:45.220 So what are they doing?
00:04:47.080 They're reading our fights in social media
00:04:49.600 and feeding them back to us.
00:04:51.680 They know you're not going to read this letter.
00:04:53.860 but they know the college students might read this letter.
00:04:58.000 They know the people like Antifa will read this letter.
00:05:00.880 They know the Palestinian support groups in America on the campuses will read this letter.
00:05:05.460 They know the college professors will read this letter.
00:05:08.400 They're sending this and saying, this is how you help us fight.
00:05:13.100 Now, a letter written to please everybody is not meant to unite anyone.
00:05:18.260 It's meant to find the cracks that you already have and then slide a crowbar into it.
00:05:23.860 It is exactly why our Declaration of Independence says a unanimous declaration.
00:05:30.380 And we've gone through this before, but we've been here before.
00:05:33.480 We've seen this.
00:05:34.480 The reason why we have a unanimous declaration is because we knew our enemy, King George, would find the crack and then try to split us apart.
00:05:42.300 That's what they're doing.
00:05:43.560 They found five cracks in our society, and they're using that crowbar sentence after sentence.
00:05:51.320 And there's one sentence repeated throughout.
00:05:53.860 We have no quarrel with the American people.
00:05:56.940 We just love you guys.
00:05:59.780 We only are quarreling with the men in the White House,
00:06:02.300 which they rename the House of Oppression.
00:06:08.540 Death to America, they explain,
00:06:10.780 is a prayer for the death of our ruling elite.
00:06:14.320 Then on page, I think it's 25,
00:06:17.760 they tell you who empowers that elite.
00:06:20.020 Their words, quote,
00:06:21.040 you are the ones who empower with your votes the government end quote okay so by their own logic
00:06:27.080 here the people they pray will die are the people you chose death to the ones you elected
00:06:34.180 is death to your right to elect i don't know if you've picked that one up you know when somebody
00:06:39.500 says their quarrel isn't with you only what you choose their quarrel is really with your right to
00:06:46.580 choose and if you disagree then their quarrel is with you and then they tell you what would put it
00:06:54.040 in its place okay the letter holds up and i love this part the letter holds up the iranian system
00:07:02.400 the guardianship of the jurist the supreme leader must be an expert in islamic law just pious
00:07:10.400 politically aware, and brave. 0.76
00:07:12.260 Well, he was as he wet his pants before he died.
00:07:15.040 Then they ask you to grade your commander-in-chief
00:07:18.060 by those five tests.
00:07:20.220 Is he politically aware?
00:07:21.500 Is he just?
00:07:22.200 Is he pious?
00:07:22.920 Is he aware?
00:07:23.520 Is he brave?
00:07:24.360 I don't know.
00:07:24.880 He stood up and said, fight, fight, fight.
00:07:26.620 I don't know, pretty good.
00:07:27.400 He didn't wet his pants.
00:07:28.500 Anyway, then they tell you how to vote
00:07:31.280 because they know the election is coming.
00:07:33.760 Entrust your affairs to the wise, not the wily.
00:07:37.920 Oh, okay.
00:07:40.220 Now, who decides the whys here in America?
00:07:42.700 Because in Iran, a body of clerics does that.
00:07:45.900 They're not asking us to be better Americans.
00:07:47.960 They're asking us to measure our republic with their supreme ruler.
00:07:53.000 You know, this is where the two systems part for good.
00:07:56.240 In theirs, authority flows from God to a guardian and from the guardian down to you.
00:08:00.760 He'll tell you what to do.
00:08:01.980 Kind of sounds like Satan's plan.
00:08:03.000 Anyway, in ours, rights flow from God then to you.
00:08:07.620 then you lend a little bit of that authority to the government on loan and you can call it back
00:08:13.420 at any time their system only works if the right man sits at top howards was built on the assumption
00:08:21.460 the right man is never going to sit at the top okay that's why they have a guardian and we have
00:08:28.460 a constitution and that's why they call us in this letter the greater satan and it's not because of
00:08:35.160 the president presidents come and go because the idea that a free man answers to god directly with
00:08:41.420 no jurist standing in between that's the idea their system cannot survive and you don't sign
00:08:49.320 a treaty with satan you don't coexist with satan you cast him out if they think we're satan then
00:08:55.420 they've got to cast all of us out so when the letter promises peaceful coexistence yeah you
00:09:01.240 should keep reading because the same page quotes imam ali and i want to quote i want to quote him
00:09:08.980 here i love this this is no this no this is really good uh the day the oppressed triumph over the
00:09:14.920 tyrant will be more dreadful than the day the tyrant prevailed so it warns that the world's
00:09:20.740 anger will set fire to america's interest and assets everywhere now that's a threat dressed up
00:09:27.840 That's a cute little prayer. 0.88
00:09:29.840 But if you understand that their religion is nothing but violence, 0.99
00:09:34.100 you understand that prayer. 0.98
00:09:36.520 Then the final paragraph. 0.97
00:09:38.700 They say they await the return of Jesus Christ alongside the Mahadi. 0.94
00:09:44.480 I love this one.
00:09:46.080 They invite us and the American people to stand by their side.
00:09:50.560 Oh, I'm going to.
00:09:52.260 I'm thinking, well, I'm not going to, but I'm thinking about,
00:09:55.480 no, I've thought better.
00:09:56.940 No.
00:09:57.840 stand by their side. Christians, you need to understand what that means. In their tradition, 0.96
00:10:03.860 Jesus does come back, but not as a king of kings, as the Mahadi's companion. He prays behind him. 0.95
00:10:13.140 He testifies to the Mahadi being the savior and like, Christians, you got it all wrong. 0.97
00:10:18.740 They quote our scripture on page 25 and demote our savior on page 26. This is a mess. This is 1.00
00:10:25.560 not an olive branch this that's the terms of surrender written in language of friendship and
00:10:31.000 prayer and if you wonder how they might you know treat americans who would disagree the letter
00:10:36.680 answers that too it complains that no american president will ever sit for an interview with an
00:10:42.080 iranian journalist then a footnote clarifies they mean only true honest iranians not the ones who
00:10:50.120 have sold their souls to the devil. You know, the people. The same letter blames the CIA and the
00:10:57.060 Mossad for more than 2,000 protesters dead in January. So when they scooped everybody up and
00:11:03.660 put them into prison and then killed them, who did that? The Mossad and the CIA. Is anybody
00:11:11.940 rethinking which side they're on? I don't know. I don't know. A government that talks about the
00:11:18.180 will of the people while deciding which people count has already told you where you would stand,
00:11:24.260 okay? Okay, so why write this thing? Because it's a mess.
00:11:32.760 Well, they're losing. A government that feels strong talks to governments, doesn't talk to
00:11:40.380 the people, and especially doesn't narrow the people down to their little sources of cancer
00:11:45.260 inside, okay? A government that believes in itself and believes it's strong, it doesn't
00:11:52.760 offer concessions, then say it's going to blow up the world, and then reach out to the country and
00:11:57.860 say, hey, here's a letter of peace, but address it to the media. Why would you do that? Because
00:12:03.140 they're in cahoots with them. Whether they like it or not, whether they know it or not, they are
00:12:07.440 carrying Iran's water. The same with our universities and our students, okay? A regime 0.99
00:12:13.940 that feels corner talks past the government and talks to the students and the professors and the
00:12:19.440 reporters, all the people that gave them the 1979 revolution in Iran, hoping that someone here will
00:12:27.420 do what its missiles couldn't. They can't reach our constitution with a drone. So they're aiming 0.79
00:12:33.760 it at the only place that it actually lives in the people who might still believe in the
00:12:41.100 constitution. Now the letter closes, you know, with a line about the earth being inherited by
00:12:48.780 God's virtuous servants. Good. You know, we got a line for that one too. Rights come from the
00:12:55.040 creator. Government gets its power from the consent of the governed and no guardian is required.
00:13:01.440 So here's what you need to know. And this is all you need to know.
00:13:04.920 They're losing because this shows all weakness.
00:13:09.180 They wrote a letter to our college professors, the students, and our media.
00:13:16.020 I suggest we make sure our students can read it with the caveat that somebody helps them understand what they're actually reading.
00:13:26.960 More in a minute.
00:13:27.920 this is the best of the glenn beck program and we really want to thank you for listening
00:13:36.640 you know there's a certain kind of confidence that only parents have you walk into a bedroom
00:13:47.320 you take one look at your kid and go yeah he's getting sick you don't need a thermometer you
00:13:51.360 don't need a doctor you just know right unfortunately knowing they're about to get
00:13:55.720 sick is the easy part. The hard part is discovering that half the town has the same bug. The pharmacy
00:14:01.760 is out of the medication they need, and now you're driving all over town hoping somebody has it in
00:14:06.580 stock. That's why I advise you, prepare before the first cough starts. The Kids Case from Jace
00:14:13.080 Medical provides physician-prescribed emergency medications and antibiotics designed specifically
00:14:17.700 for your children, and you can also include essentials like albuterol, EpiPens, Zyrtec.
00:14:24.860 So when a school germ makes their annual appearance,
00:14:27.540 you're not scrambling to find out, you know, what your family needs.
00:14:30.140 You already have it.
00:14:31.380 And having it when you need it, when the time comes, gives you true peace of mind.
00:14:35.500 Go to Jace.com, use the promo code BECCA, check out, get a discount on your order.
00:14:38.960 It's promo code BECCA, J-A-S-E.com, Jace.com.
00:14:48.040 This is the best of the Glenn Beck Program, and we really want to thank you for listening.
00:14:54.380 Okay, so I wrote a review and you'll find the whole thing,
00:15:01.980 but let me just give you a little bit of this review.
00:15:04.060 And I don't think this was scathing enough.
00:15:06.320 Chris Hansen spent years luring the worst people in America
00:15:08.940 into a kitchen and making them sit down.
00:15:11.880 A24 has returned the favor.
00:15:13.520 For 110 minutes, the audience is the one caught on the hidden camera
00:15:17.240 wondering how the hell did I get into this room
00:15:19.560 and why didn't nobody warn me?
00:15:21.000 primetime looks like it was shot during the pandemic by people who were never allowed in
00:15:27.100 the same room every scene feels assembled by phone footage mailed in from separate quarantines and
00:15:33.020 stitched together by an intern who is paid in exposure the lighting has the warmth of a gas
00:15:38.240 station bathroom the color grading suggests a 1970s adult film that ran out of money before
00:15:44.140 anybody took their clothes off so nobody gets the fun only the shame the acting is bad the script
00:15:50.120 is worse. Neither is the film's biggest problem. The biggest problem is that somebody watched all
00:15:55.640 of this in an editing bay, nodded, and sent it to Venice. Robert Pattinson, who plays Hanson,
00:16:02.820 I've seen Charlie Manson and Jeffrey Dahmer portrayed with more humanity than this.
00:16:11.320 Chris Hanson never killed anybody. He certainly didn't eat anybody. He asked grown men why they
00:16:17.040 bought beer and condoms to me with a 13 year old and in this movie that seems to be the crime
00:16:23.040 so for 110 minutes now in the theater i saw did not come with the ad hansen has bought
00:16:29.000 pre-show ads in front of the movie here it is
00:16:32.640 i'm chris hansen and i'm going to need everyone in the theater to take a seat right over there
00:16:41.360 you know i've spent decades working with law enforcement to catch predators before they
00:16:46.540 exploit our children now there are more platforms than ever before where this disturbing crime is
00:16:52.880 being committed and we are there to take down the predators join us undercover every day on
00:17:00.040 my streaming network true blue i have to tell you uh that gets you know three stars the movie gets
00:17:12.240 no stars no thumbs up i would have cut my thumbs off and all of my fingers to be able to be to able
00:17:18.340 to be leaving that theater within 10 minutes it's an awful i don't know what their their
00:17:25.560 goal was on this it certainly wasn't to make a good movie because i mean it fits in crimes
00:17:31.480 against humanity the cinematic division i mean it is awful and anybody who recommends this movie to
00:17:39.040 you is have you ever been to a restaurant where somebody eats something and they think it's rancid
00:17:43.640 maybe poison and they're like oh my gosh oh my i think this is i think this is rancid here try it
00:17:50.660 anybody who says let's go see that movie is that friend stay away from this movie it's horrible
00:17:56.740 and i think it does a grave injustice all of that was just about the movie grave injustice
00:18:05.400 by a guy who, for all accounts and purposes, has only tried to put predators behind bars.
00:18:11.800 Chris Hansen, welcome to the program. How are you?
00:18:13.940 Thank you, Glenn Beck. I'm great.
00:18:16.280 Thanks for having me.
00:18:16.780 So I have to start with, you didn't even know this was being made.
00:18:25.360 They invited you to see the movie, a screening of it,
00:18:29.960 but they said you can only see it if you sign a release to promise to not sue us.
00:18:35.400 Honestly, I didn't sign a release. I'd like to sue them for the time I wasted watching this horrific film. You didn't do that. What is the purpose of this film?
00:18:49.080 I don't know, Glenn. It's so hyper sensationalized. It's so dark and so disconnected with reality. There is about as much connection between this film and reality as there is from a Scooby-Doo cartoon movie to what I do for a living.
00:19:07.720 What's the motive?
00:19:09.060 You'd have to ask A24 and the director of this film, Lance Oppenheim.
00:19:13.460 We had heard about a year ago that a film was in the works.
00:19:19.540 I had somebody I know who I work with who knew Lance reach out and say, you know, what's going on?
00:19:26.160 Are you guys going to reach out to Chris Hansen on this film?
00:19:28.520 And he said, well, the studio is going to do that.
00:19:31.320 We want his input.
00:19:32.220 We want him involved in promoting the film.
00:19:34.140 But rest assured, it's a love letter to Chris Hansen.
00:19:37.060 Well, Glenn, if that's a love letter, I'd hate to get a poison pen letter from this particular director.
00:19:41.700 My gosh. Oh, my gosh. I have to tell you, you know, Chris, it does expose you had an affair, but it showed that you tried to end it honorably.
00:19:54.120 You know, you went this in the really, you know, bad section.
00:20:00.380 Here's why even that part of it's dishonest.
00:20:04.100 that tabloid stuff was was after to catch a predator right had nothing to do with it so
00:20:12.320 they took something that was a tabloid two-week deal and they mixed it in with the to catch a
00:20:19.180 predator scenario and had nothing to do with each other it was irrelevant the other thing they try
00:20:24.320 to do to you the other thing they try to do to you but i i just have to say you know i'm not a fan
00:20:30.040 of affairs but things happen people make mistakes you seem to try to be doing the honorable thing
00:20:36.740 except for the way they spun this whole thing um and uh and then the other thing they try to do
00:20:44.080 is make you into somebody who is just craven for ratings well that's that's just not true i mean
00:20:52.840 they didn't talk to me about making this film they didn't want my input they didn't want the
00:20:57.520 input of anybody who was involved in the film so here's what i think happened they set out to do a
00:21:04.780 very dark dramatic uh film and the reason they didn't reach out to me or to anybody who was
00:21:12.200 involved in the in the series or who's involved with our takedown series today on my streamer
00:21:16.700 true blue is because they didn't want the truth they didn't want anything including the truth
00:21:21.620 interfering with their dark, delusional vision of this.
00:21:27.380 But then why is my name?
00:21:29.020 The question is why I use my name?
00:21:30.120 And they used it because they wanted to exploit it
00:21:32.000 for commercial value.
00:21:32.980 They know it's a brand.
00:21:34.960 I just don't understand what, I mean, honestly,
00:21:37.860 it looks like it has all of the joy of a snuff film.
00:21:44.400 And it was either written by somebody
00:21:49.180 who just has a personal vengeance against you
00:21:53.880 or it's somebody who honestly doesn't like the fact
00:22:00.740 that you've taken down pedophiles
00:22:02.440 because I can't figure it.
00:22:04.720 This is either a personal vendetta
00:22:06.520 or it is a personal message
00:22:09.160 because the only ones that look good in this 0.99
00:22:10.960 really are the pedophiles.
00:22:14.100 Well, and nothing happened in this movie
00:22:17.380 that actually happened in real life, you know, as if I would have a dressing room in the Stinghouse
00:22:23.460 sitting there shirtless with dressing lights all around me. That's just ridiculous. It's taken to 0.95
00:22:31.240 such a absurd level that when my wife and I went to go look at the movie to watch it here in New
00:22:37.940 York City, I mean, we couldn't even, it couldn't, it was hard to get upset because it was so over
00:22:42.460 the top and so detached from anything remotely realistic. I mean, it's absurd. And I feel bad
00:22:51.900 for all the people in this movie who are portrayed the way they are. I never had those discussions
00:22:57.400 with my producer. I never had those discussions with the police. They make the police look like
00:23:01.740 buffoons, which is unfair. They make me look like an egotistical, ratings-driven evil guy. 0.93
00:23:09.980 They make me look like a detached father and a bad husband.
00:23:12.920 And those things are just not even close to reality.
00:23:16.260 They make the people who actually agreed with what you were doing on taking them down, they made them look craven as well.
00:23:25.380 Just craven for blood.
00:23:27.780 I mean, that guy, that scene with the guy on the airplane sitting next to you, like, you haven't done enough. 1.00
00:23:32.820 You just need to kill them and, you know, spill their blood or whatever. 0.99
00:23:37.120 He said it was horrifying. 1.00
00:23:38.580 It was horrifying. 1.00
00:23:39.060 So it made anybody, anybody who was on the side of stopping predators look like they were monsters or idiots. 1.00
00:23:47.080 And why would they do this? 0.99
00:23:48.980 I mean, let's remember that this is an industry that was ruled for years by one of the most prolific predators to walk the planet, Harvey Weinstein, who was just sentenced a week ago today in a courtroom not far from where I'm sitting in another case where he preyed upon a woman, sexual assault.
00:24:08.160 And this is something that's been going on for years in Hollywood.
00:24:12.660 And did that have something to do with the making of this film?
00:24:15.600 I don't know.
00:24:16.440 I wasn't given the courtesy of being consulted or being considered or having any input in it.
00:24:22.540 Yet again, they felt that they could commit identity theft, essentially, by using my name, image, and likeness.
00:24:30.740 The case in Murphy, Texas, with the DA, that's how the movie ends.
00:24:35.720 And I'm not spoiling anything because don't go see this movie.
00:24:38.640 And I'm not saying for political reasons.
00:24:40.460 You will never get your time back.
00:24:42.780 And it's, I mean, it's something that, I mean, rots your soul.
00:24:46.700 It is so bad.
00:24:48.260 It is so dark and ugly.
00:24:50.820 And oh my gosh, I've never seen a movie this bad.
00:24:53.500 Anyway, it ends with, you know, the DA that kills himself.
00:25:00.260 How much of that is true?
00:25:02.400 Here are the facts of the case, Glenn.
00:25:04.180 When we were conducting an investigation with the Murphy Police Department in Murphy, Texas, there was a man who was an assistant district attorney, Bill Conrad, who got caught chatting with decoys, posing as two different 13-year-old boys.
00:25:21.480 The conversations were sexually explicit, which in Texas, like most states, is against the law just to have the chat, right?
00:25:28.400 And in this particular time, it was election season in Texas.
00:25:34.560 So commercials are running all over the place about people cracking down, people running for judge, people running for state attorney general, people running for district attorney who, you know, the videos were showing law enforcement guys rushing into a room and capturing predators.
00:25:50.200 I mean, they were taking a stand against this.
00:25:51.720 In this environment, this assistant DA services chatting with decoys posing as 13-year-old boys.
00:26:00.480 Now, the Murphy Police Department makes the decision that they have enough evidence to go for a probable cause warrant and go arrest him on the next day.
00:26:09.960 There is also evidence and some concern that he might be destroying evidence.
00:26:15.740 Now, if you're worried about casting a television show, you'd wait till Monday when he was in his office at the district attorney's office and go get him there and make a big show out of it.
00:26:25.020 They decided that they were going to arrest him on a Sunday at his home.
00:26:28.940 We knew this, obviously. We followed along and were watching with our cameras from the street.
00:26:36.340 They went in to arrest him. He had his laptop, apparently, according to the police and a subsequent investigation by the Texas Rangers.
00:26:44.680 and he had tried to extract the hard drive he looked at them said i'm not going to hurt you
00:26:49.560 guys something to that effect and pulled out a gun and sadly took his own life now nobody wants
00:26:54.960 to see that happen but nobody can predict it from happening and so later there was an investigation
00:27:01.060 by the texas rangers which revealed that there were images of child pornography found on the
00:27:06.880 hard drive of his computer as an assistant district attorney he would have known that each one of those
00:27:13.440 images could have put him in prison for 10 years. Now, he made that decision. Tragic, horrible. I
00:27:20.000 feel terrible for his family. Obviously, it would be better had he had his day in court and hired a
00:27:27.140 lawyer for a vigorous defense, as everybody deserves in this country. But that's not what he chose to
00:27:32.220 do. Now, there was no attempt to cover this up. I went on the Today Show the next morning. We
00:27:38.920 reported it in detail what happened what we knew and where it was going when that episode of to
00:27:46.360 catch a predator was aired the same thing we reported it as it happened factually no attempt
00:27:54.040 ever in at any time in this in this series glenn uh every time all along the way from the very
00:28:01.720 beginning in 2004 and including the stories we do today the takedown predator investigations
00:28:07.640 that we do all over the country, we have been and are painstakingly transparent about our
00:28:13.100 methodology. People ask sometimes, you know, what's the weirdest thing or most shocking thing
00:28:18.920 you've left on the editing room floor? Nothing. We show you everything. We show you exactly how
00:28:23.440 we do it, with whom we do it, and you see the end product. So you weren't there on the front lawn
00:28:30.560 crying uh quoting pornographic conversations there no no and no no decoy was singing show
00:28:37.980 tunes to him i mean just it's so absurd insane i mean it's insane look i understand the decoy
00:28:45.120 was interviewed in a documentary and and regrets being involved and feels bad that he actually
00:28:49.500 talked to a man on the phone to commit suicide sure i get that then he's entitled but the rest
00:28:54.360 it didn't feel that way exactly um okay real quick you're still you're on true blue you're
00:29:01.960 still doing this correct um tell us where we can watch you we produce the takedown episodes on my
00:29:08.820 streaming network true blue watch true blue.com we also produce documentaries uh on everything
00:29:14.520 from sextortion to we just had a documentary come out called dangerous games um which delves into
00:29:21.260 the problems with Roblox, the online gaming platform where so many kids are being approached
00:29:26.440 by predators. And in fact, there was another documentary. I'm not a producer of it or executive
00:29:31.860 producer, but before this film, before we even knew about this film, there had been a documentary
00:29:38.300 in the works called I'm Chris Hansen, which is finished. And it's a, you know, it's a real
00:29:43.060 profile of me and my work. And so that's, apparently there's going to be an announcement
00:29:47.660 about where that's going to go in the next week or so.
00:29:50.400 Okay.
00:29:51.340 Chris, thank you very much.
00:29:52.740 I really appreciate your work all these years.
00:29:54.480 And I'm sorry, I've never seen anything like this.
00:29:59.100 I mean, it's-
00:30:00.520 Well, we talked about it.
00:30:01.620 The great news for me, Glenn,
00:30:03.160 is that I've also got two podcasts,
00:30:05.140 Predators I've Caught and Have a Seat with Chris Hansen.
00:30:07.040 And we went to the movie,
00:30:08.960 we interviewed other moviegoers afterwards,
00:30:12.840 and we did a big piece on it
00:30:15.160 that is on the Have a Seat with Chris Hansen YouTube channel
00:30:17.440 and podcasts where people can check it out. And none of the people I talked to really liked the
00:30:22.320 way I was portrayed. And I don't think they were there. Well, it was just me and my wife and one
00:30:29.400 other guy all by himself, which was weird, but, uh, that's, that's, uh, you know, it's, it's not
00:30:34.520 going anywhere. I don't think Chris, thank you very much. I appreciate it. God bless. Thanks
00:30:38.780 for having me. Appreciate it. Chris Hanson. This is the best of the Glenn Beck program.
00:30:47.440 so a couple of days ago we told you about what was happening in chicago these 200 parents get
00:30:55.200 into a room they have grown children that aren't speaking to them anymore and by the time we were
00:30:58.940 off the air i gotta tell you our inbox looked like that room it was packed a grandmother who
00:31:04.920 hadn't seen her 14 year old granddaughter since april uh her and her son were close but now she's
00:31:10.440 just a label that she says he picked up someplace else a listener whose brother actually stood in 0.97
00:31:16.340 his front lawn and screamed that he was voting for a pedophile and a rapist he hasn't spoken to
00:31:27.300 his brother ever since a listener uh who is a single mom who raised two kids in church 0.99
00:31:33.880 whose son was told by his new church cut her off
00:31:38.080 a mom who cut off her oldest son and they had a disagreement two years later he was dead of
00:31:45.020 fentanyl. Now his sister has cut her off. One woman wrote in, last week, my daughter texted.
00:31:53.260 She wants to reconnect. I never gave up hope. Boy, that one story helps. I mean,
00:32:03.180 so many of us are dealing with these things. It's a pain that just doesn't go on. It just
00:32:09.020 doesn't stop. It just goes on and on and on and on. It's honestly like a death with no funeral.
00:32:16.320 Nobody's bringing a casserole. Somebody at church asks, how are the kids? And you smile and you say,
00:32:21.520 oh, they're fine. They're fine. And it's killing you inside. There's a family therapist named
00:32:28.820 Pauline Boss. And she calls this grief for someone who's still alive, still out there,
00:32:35.660 still posting pictures of grandkids that you're not allowed to hold.
00:32:40.200 She says it's the most stressful kind of loss
00:32:42.700 because there's nothing to close.
00:32:47.480 And if you've wondered why you can't get over it,
00:32:49.800 it's not because you're weak.
00:32:52.000 You're just, you're grieving something that hasn't ended.
00:32:57.880 And keep calling, just keep calling, isn't enough.
00:33:02.700 And we start with this, forgiveness and reconciliation.
00:33:05.660 Well, they're not the same thing.
00:33:07.600 And most of us have welded them together
00:33:09.440 and it's crushing us.
00:33:12.160 You know, Jesus said, you know,
00:33:13.760 when you're praying, forgive, forgive, forgive.
00:33:16.120 He didn't say, wait for them to call.
00:33:19.740 Forgiveness happens in you.
00:33:21.920 So you have to forgive first.
00:33:24.480 It needs no permission and no phone number.
00:33:27.420 And you can do it right now on your knees
00:33:29.340 and it might take you months.
00:33:30.760 I've done it.
00:33:31.540 It'll take you months to get there.
00:33:33.560 But one day that miracle will show up
00:33:35.140 and you'd be like, oh my gosh, I don't have that anymore.
00:33:39.440 But reconciliation is different.
00:33:41.520 That takes two people.
00:33:42.740 It takes trust.
00:33:44.660 And trust comes back really slowly.
00:33:49.240 There is something happening in our society.
00:33:54.720 Because there's a word that just keeps showing up
00:33:56.860 on both sides of the door.
00:33:57.760 And that word is narcissist.
00:34:00.920 Kids now say it about the parents.
00:34:02.660 The parents say it about the kids.
00:34:03.880 than the ex-wives, the bosses, the pastors,
00:34:06.840 the guy who cut you off in traffic.
00:34:08.860 Type it into TikTok.
00:34:10.820 Well, better yet, don't.
00:34:11.820 You'll find billions of views.
00:34:15.080 Gaslighting was Webster's word of the year in 2022.
00:34:17.840 Now add toxic, trauma, triggered, and boundaries.
00:34:23.060 We have built an entire vocabulary
00:34:25.540 for describing what everyone else is doing to us.
00:34:29.440 we are breeding personality disorders
00:34:34.340 or are we just handing out labels
00:34:37.460 because that's what they have
00:34:38.540 we're doing both
00:34:39.460 and it matters which is which
00:34:41.960 you know there are personality disorders
00:34:46.180 and that's not a bad day
00:34:48.800 it's not a selfish teenager
00:34:50.640 or a dad who yelled too much
00:34:52.660 it's a rigid clinical pattern
00:34:55.460 and it shows up in every relationship
00:34:57.380 in every season of life
00:34:58.740 and it wrecks them one after another.
00:35:00.820 The clinical kind of narcissism,
00:35:03.200 the kind of doctor would diagnose.
00:35:05.180 It shows up in somewhere in between
00:35:07.460 one and 6% of people, okay?
00:35:10.420 Depending on who's counting.
00:35:12.880 Borderline personality
00:35:14.100 marked by explosive swings 0.99
00:35:17.400 between I love you and I hate you.
00:35:19.680 That runs about 2%.
00:35:21.020 And it's real.
00:35:23.160 And if you live with somebody like that,
00:35:24.520 you know it's real.
00:35:26.220 But one to 6% doesn't add up
00:35:28.240 to billions of views. 1.00
00:35:30.180 If every mother is a narcissist,
00:35:32.400 then the word doesn't mean anything anymore.
00:35:34.960 And the people who actually survived one
00:35:37.340 lose the word they need.
00:35:41.680 Traits are different than disorder.
00:35:46.800 There is a psychologist
00:35:48.280 and she tracked college students
00:35:50.780 on the standard narcissism test
00:35:53.120 for decades now.
00:35:54.580 I want to tell you
00:35:55.660 what she actually came up with.
00:35:57.620 by the mid-2000s, two out of three were scoring above what had been the average a generation
00:36:03.840 earlier. She called it an epidemic. Then there was a large federal survey found out people in
00:36:09.420 their 20s had nearly three times the lifetime rate of narcissistic personality disorder as
00:36:15.220 people over 65. Then another researcher pushed back in 2017. Study found that classic chest
00:36:22.260 thumping narcissism actually dipped among college students after the 1990s. So who's right here?
00:36:30.840 In looking at this over the last couple of days, I think both are, because the narcissist
00:36:37.620 changed shape. Because there's two kinds. The grandiose one, it's loud, it's a big ego,
00:36:45.040 big mouth, sucks all of the air out of the room, and you see this guy coming a mile away. 0.92
00:36:49.260 The second one is vulnerable narcissists. 0.99
00:36:53.660 They're quieter.
00:36:55.000 They're anxious.
00:36:55.680 They're easily wounded.
00:36:57.360 They're convinced the world owes them and keeps failing to pay them.
00:37:04.200 That one doesn't brag.
00:37:05.940 That one keeps score.
00:37:07.880 Every slight is an injury.
00:37:09.920 Every disagreement is an attack.
00:37:12.140 And he is always, always the victim.
00:37:14.420 And I got to tell you, there's a lot of people I know like that.
00:37:18.100 a lot. The second kind, the one I'm talking about now, that's the one our culture is building and
00:37:25.480 growing right now. And look at the reward. We were told everything's going to be fine. Listen
00:37:33.420 to the experts. And so we tell this generation that they were special when they hadn't done
00:37:38.120 anything. We handed out praise like candy and then took away the scoreboard. Everybody's a winner.
00:37:44.580 Self-esteem without accomplishment is not confidence.
00:37:48.500 It's a balloon.
00:37:50.200 And a balloon spends its life afraid of pins.
00:37:54.860 Then we gave them a phone that puts them on stage 24 hours a day.
00:37:59.680 Every picture gets a grade, gets likes.
00:38:01.920 Every opinion gets a crowd.
00:38:05.120 You learn to curate yourself, perform yourself, and measure yourself in likes.
00:38:11.780 That's a narcissist training program with a charging cable.
00:38:20.380 Then we taught them the language of injury.
00:38:23.620 Your truth, not the truth.
00:38:26.020 What's your truth?
00:38:27.360 Your trauma.
00:38:28.780 Protect your peace.
00:38:30.300 Do you need a safe space?
00:38:32.440 Are you offended?
00:38:33.940 Have you been injured by words?
00:38:37.260 Now, some of that language helps people with real wounds.
00:38:40.060 But you hand it to a fragile ego, and it becomes armor.
00:38:45.300 Now, any criticism can be called abuse, and any parent who says no is toxic.
00:38:52.620 This is called, according to researchers, concept creep.
00:38:57.540 The definition of harm keeps growing until ordinary disappointment qualifies.
00:39:01.560 We're their gang.
00:39:03.380 I've been harmed.
00:39:04.800 I didn't get picked.
00:39:06.240 I didn't do this.
00:39:07.140 I didn't do that.
00:39:07.840 They didn't give me this.
00:39:10.060 We lost the game.
00:39:13.040 We've turned diagnosis into a game.
00:39:18.120 One study of the most popular ADHD videos on TikTok
00:39:21.980 found that more than half were misleading.
00:39:25.960 You could watch a 90-second clip,
00:39:28.000 diagnose yourself with one thing and your mother with another,
00:39:31.280 and never ever meet a doctor.
00:39:33.340 Congratulations.
00:39:35.620 And we did it too.
00:39:36.900 We're not innocent.
00:39:38.000 We're not just bystanders.
00:39:40.460 We built our own feeds.
00:39:42.340 We watch cable news that tells us half the country is evil.
00:39:45.380 And if you watch the other cable channel, that half of the country is evil.
00:39:49.080 We snap at waitresses and then post about grace.
00:39:54.360 Narcissism is not a generation.
00:39:56.280 It's a temptation.
00:39:58.100 And we're all being offered it and we're being fed it constantly.
00:40:05.380 We have to start figuring out what's real and what's not.
00:40:09.140 What's the real thing and what's just somebody you're just angry at?
00:40:17.040 First, it's the pattern.
00:40:18.300 Not every fight, not every job, not every friendship, every marriage.
00:40:22.760 If it ends the same way, it can't always be somebody else's fault.
00:40:28.160 You need to start going, but wait a minute, what did I do?
00:40:30.620 Is there a pattern here?
00:40:32.960 Second thing, empathy completely disappears when it costs somebody something.
00:40:37.660 They can be charming and generous when there's an audience, but watch what happens when your need gets in the way of theirs.
00:40:48.120 Third thing to watch for is criticism.
00:40:54.860 If it produces rage or collapse, not reflection, a small correction feels like an assassination attempt, that's what you're dealing with.
00:41:08.660 Fourth, history will get rewritten.
00:41:11.860 Something you both saw happen, they remember differently.
00:41:15.240 They are certain.
00:41:17.700 And any trying to change that, boy, you are abusive.
00:41:21.840 And last, a narcissist can't actually ever genuinely apologize.
00:41:28.400 They can say, I'm sorry you feel that way.
00:41:31.420 They can't say, I was wrong.
00:41:34.100 You're right.
00:41:34.820 I was wrong.
00:41:35.580 And here's what I'll do differently.
00:41:36.640 and then go do it.
00:41:39.740 Now, hold that up.
00:41:41.180 Before you hold that up to all the people in your life
00:41:42.940 that you might have lost,
00:41:43.800 hold that list up to your own face
00:41:45.600 because that's the test that nobody takes on TikTok.
00:41:50.700 If every relationship you've had
00:41:52.540 ended with you as the innocent party,
00:41:56.200 the common denominator is in your mirror.
00:42:00.860 If you've diagnosed your mother, your ex,
00:42:03.560 your boss, your brother,
00:42:04.800 ask who's doing all the diagnosing here. 0.70
00:42:08.660 The irony is that narcissist
00:42:10.760 has become one of the most self-centered words
00:42:14.740 in the language.
00:42:16.140 It puts the whole story on the other person
00:42:18.880 and lets the one who says it walk away cleanly.
00:42:23.380 Boy, this is so our culture today, isn't it?
00:42:29.880 So if you're still raising kids,
00:42:32.220 praise the effort and character but don't tell them they're special they're not that special
00:42:40.180 they're not they might have special things that they do but they're not universally special let
00:42:46.160 them lose let them be corrected without calling it harm without being a helicopter all the time
00:42:52.200 teach them that feelings are real but they're not facts and they're certainly not a verdict
00:42:58.360 on anybody else.
00:42:59.900 Oh my gosh, I've heard that person is.
00:43:02.120 No.
00:43:03.620 You verify your feelings.
00:43:06.280 That's how you feel,
00:43:07.760 but that's not a verdict on somebody else.
00:43:10.860 And with ourselves,
00:43:13.080 practice the one skill no narcissist has.
00:43:17.960 Just say this, I was wrong.
00:43:20.960 I want you to say that out loud to somebody this week,
00:43:24.040 to somebody who deserves to hear it.
00:43:25.920 If you truly, truly are dealing with a disordered person, get real help from somebody who has met you both, not a stranger with a ring light.
00:43:35.460 But go to somebody this week that needs to hear it, and don't say anything else.
00:43:40.220 There's no but after.
00:43:41.260 There's nothing else.
00:43:42.020 You know what?
00:43:42.720 I've been thinking about this.
00:43:44.400 You're right.
00:43:46.140 I was wrong, and I'm really sorry for that.
00:43:48.140 And don't expect anything.
00:43:51.640 Okay?
00:43:52.980 Well, thank you for saying that.
00:43:54.480 Well, thanks for listening.
00:43:56.440 I just wanted to let you know that.
00:43:58.340 Click.
00:44:00.280 Don't expect anything in return that will confuse them.
00:44:05.980 That will make them think.
00:44:09.480 And don't let one person's disorder become your personality.
00:44:12.840 This one's so hard.
00:44:13.880 I deal with this.
00:44:14.740 I have to tell you, I just deal with exactly what you're dealing with right now.
00:44:23.600 And it is really hard.
00:44:24.480 And it is hard not to continue to go.
00:44:29.960 But Paul warned, there will be, in the last days,
00:44:34.860 people who are lovers of themselves, they're proud, they're unthankful,
00:44:38.380 and they're without natural affection.
00:44:41.160 That's not a diagnosis, but it describes what happens to any people
00:44:44.500 who put themselves at the center.
00:44:46.880 And the cure has never been a better label.
00:44:49.040 It's humility.
00:44:49.940 Humility. Humility makes every broken relationship repairable. Pride is what makes every single one of those things permanent. Humility. It may not happen. It may not ever happen, but it won't change you. Don't let it change you. Unless it's changing you into a softer, more kind, and more humble person. Back in just a second.
