The Glenn Beck Program - Best of the Program ｜ Guest： Dr. Marty Makary ｜ 9⧸16⧸19

00:00:00.100 Hello, and welcome to the podcast. It's Glenn, along with my trusty sidekick. I like to call him Toronto, mainly because he's a Canadian sports hero, but a sad sports hero today.

00:00:15.560 Just wanted to mention the Eagles. Eagles, Eagles, Eagles. Lose, lose, lose. It hurts. It's painful, but I appreciate you bringing it up.

00:00:22.120 Yeah, all right. Today, we're going to talk about the biggest serial killer in American history, and he was just found last week.

00:00:32.460 Why haven't you heard about him? Also, Pat joins us.

00:00:37.140 We have some really incredible stories today about a family that are just trying to get their kids home,

00:00:45.500 and a really uplifting story about two football players in high school that have helped a kid by giving him new clothes.

00:00:52.480 Wait until you hear that. And Saudi Arabia, oil. Are we going to war?

00:00:58.660 That all in context and the price we pay at our hospitals, all on today's podcast.

00:01:04.180 You're listening to the best of the Glenn Beck program.

00:01:20.240 2,246 dead people, all on the property of this 78-year-old man

00:01:31.140 who had been killing these people.

00:01:34.260 This is a new story.

00:01:37.280 It is in Illinois.

00:01:40.900 His name is Ulrich Klopfer.

00:01:45.160 Now, how is it that this story broke on Thursday?

00:01:51.620 No red flags on this guy?

00:01:56.960 I mean, he was in a small town.

00:01:59.900 He was in Gary, Fort Wayne, and South Bend, Indiana.

00:02:04.580 South Bend, Indiana.

00:02:08.260 You probably haven't heard his name,

00:02:11.420 at least linked to mass murder,

00:02:14.100 because he was an abortion doctor.

00:02:18.500 And his industry

00:02:19.800 is defended tooth and nail

00:02:22.280 by the press

00:02:23.760 and by the left.

00:02:25.300 Now, here's Dr. Klopfer.

00:02:28.700 He did have his medical license suspended

00:02:30.700 three years ago.

00:02:32.340 Three years ago.

00:02:34.000 The guy was 78, by the way, when he died.

00:02:36.960 Three years ago,

00:02:37.940 he had his license suspended

00:02:39.440 for failing to exercise reasonable care

00:02:42.200 and violating several notice

00:02:44.460 and documentation requirements.

00:02:46.600 You see, he was neglecting

00:02:49.160 to report abortions

00:02:50.620 he performed on two girls

00:02:52.040 under 14.

00:02:53.820 And it probably

00:02:54.660 was just an oversight,

00:02:56.160 I'm sure.

00:02:59.700 I mean, what's a couple of

00:03:00.980 14-year-old girls

00:03:02.260 when you've killed 0.94

00:03:03.920 thousands of kids

00:03:05.360 just another day

00:03:06.860 at the office?

00:03:08.960 Now, just like

00:03:10.080 Kermit Gosnell,

00:03:11.740 the Philadelphia butcher,

00:03:13.560 whom the media

00:03:14.180 was pleased to ignore.

00:03:17.340 Dr. Klopfer's backyard,

00:03:19.260 Mord,

00:03:20.480 had 2,246 babies

00:03:23.160 that will remain

00:03:24.560 mostly anonymous,

00:03:25.820 at least on a national scale.

00:03:30.600 I want you to think about this.

00:03:33.320 Here's a guy who was

00:03:34.380 performing these abortions 0.94

00:03:35.720 at home.

00:03:36.440 He had a suspended license.

00:03:40.020 Imagine,

00:03:40.800 imagine if there was somebody

00:03:42.500 who had a suspended,

00:03:46.080 concealed carry

00:03:47.120 and just killed

00:03:48.200 10 people.

00:03:49.660 Imagine

00:03:50.180 what the media

00:03:51.380 would be saying.

00:03:56.260 Democratic Party

00:03:57.320 has made it

00:03:57.840 an air-tight

00:03:59.140 part of its platform,

00:04:00.780 defending

00:04:01.200 a woman's right 1.00

00:04:02.420 to kill 1.00

00:04:03.700 her unborn child 1.00

00:04:04.820 even seconds

00:04:05.860 before birth,

00:04:07.420 even

00:04:07.880 after birth.

00:04:09.340 No matter what they're

00:04:09.920 saying now,

00:04:10.800 as we pointed out

00:04:11.580 last week,

00:04:12.580 what they said

00:04:14.880 was

00:04:16.720 killing the child 0.82

00:04:18.760 after birth.

00:04:22.100 And it's

00:04:23.100 happening.

00:04:27.500 It's a brave

00:04:28.720 and righteous path.

00:04:30.320 Shout your abortion. 1.00

00:04:31.780 Democrats will scream

00:04:32.900 for justice

00:04:33.720 for any persecuted

00:04:35.160 group on the planet,

00:04:36.960 including the animal kingdom,

00:04:38.640 except for one,

00:04:41.940 the unborn.

00:04:44.440 During the testimony

00:04:45.500 before the Indiana

00:04:46.300 Medical Licensing Board

00:04:47.440 three years ago,

00:04:48.520 which had this guy's

00:04:49.740 license revoked,

00:04:51.700 it was revealed

00:04:52.480 that Dr. Klopfer

00:04:53.440 had performed

00:04:54.560 an abortion

00:04:55.160 on a 10-year-old girl

00:04:57.020 who had been 0.66

00:04:58.020 raped by her uncle. 0.98

00:05:01.000 Klopfer, 0.98

00:05:01.660 who is required

00:05:02.680 by law

00:05:03.380 to report it,

00:05:04.140 did not report it.

00:05:05.520 Instead,

00:05:06.780 he sent

00:05:07.240 the child

00:05:07.760 home

00:05:08.240 with her parents

00:05:09.140 who knew

00:05:09.760 about the abuse

00:05:10.680 but refused

00:05:11.860 to prosecute.

00:05:15.360 This guy

00:05:16.160 was an expert.

00:05:16.980 He began

00:05:18.080 performing abortions

00:05:19.360 in 1973,

00:05:20.860 right after

00:05:21.300 Roe v. Wade.

00:05:23.640 He was described

00:05:24.860 by a Fort Wayne,

00:05:25.980 Indiana paper

00:05:26.680 as likely

00:05:28.740 Indiana's

00:05:29.500 most prolific

00:05:30.320 abortion doctor

00:05:31.200 in history,

00:05:31.980 with numbers

00:05:33.020 going into

00:05:33.500 the tens

00:05:34.000 of thousands

00:05:34.560 of procedures

00:05:35.320 in multiple counties

00:05:37.160 over several decades.

00:05:39.200 The testimony

00:05:40.300 during his

00:05:41.160 medical board

00:05:41.700 hearing revealed

00:05:42.340 that he had been

00:05:42.880 using the same

00:05:43.720 abortion and sedation

00:05:44.840 procedures

00:05:45.620 since 1973.

00:05:49.120 He only gave

00:05:49.920 pain medication

00:05:50.680 to women

00:05:51.040 under 16 years old

00:05:52.620 or to those

00:05:53.420 who could pay extra.

00:05:54.560 This seems

00:05:55.000 safe and rare,

00:05:56.860 doesn't it?

00:05:57.860 He didn't have

00:05:58.800 staff on hand

00:05:59.800 to monitor

00:06:00.300 the women 0.97

00:06:00.720 he did sedate

00:06:01.840 or to help

00:06:02.840 during emergencies.

00:06:04.800 Yet,

00:06:05.240 he boasted

00:06:05.800 to the panel

00:06:06.420 that he had

00:06:06.800 never lost

00:06:07.240 a patient

00:06:07.660 in 43 years

00:06:08.640 of performing

00:06:09.200 abortions. 0.94

00:06:10.480 Well,

00:06:11.320 it depends

00:06:11.920 on who

00:06:12.300 the patient

00:06:12.800 is.

00:06:14.420 Over the year

00:06:15.380 at his abortion

00:06:15.980 clinics,

00:06:16.980 inspectors

00:06:17.620 found multiple

00:06:18.800 consent form

00:06:20.220 violations

00:06:20.900 in which

00:06:21.940 abortions

00:06:22.600 were performed

00:06:23.100 on women

00:06:23.580 within an hour

00:06:24.480 of signing

00:06:25.140 their consent

00:06:25.780 form

00:06:26.040 rather than

00:06:27.380 waiting the

00:06:28.220 18 hours

00:06:28.980 between consent

00:06:30.420 and procedure

00:06:31.140 is required

00:06:31.760 by law.

00:06:32.600 Imagine

00:06:32.980 we have

00:06:33.700 a three-day

00:06:34.360 waiting period

00:06:35.340 and somebody

00:06:36.260 only waited

00:06:36.800 two days

00:06:37.680 for it

00:06:38.260 and then

00:06:39.200 used their

00:06:39.820 power to 0.77

00:06:40.440 kill, 0.96

00:06:41.200 to mutilate, 1.00

00:06:42.720 and keep

00:06:43.360 the bodies.

00:06:45.100 Imagine what

00:06:45.960 would be said.

00:06:47.500 They also found

00:06:48.620 an unsanitized

00:06:49.540 medical instrument,

00:06:51.100 a whole group

00:06:52.140 of them,

00:06:52.800 and staffers

00:06:53.700 who took home

00:06:54.540 the soil linen

00:06:55.440 to wash.

00:06:56.940 A refrigerator

00:06:57.600 meant for

00:06:58.180 medication storage

00:06:59.140 contained a

00:07:00.000 two-month-old

00:07:01.040 abortion specimen,

00:07:02.980 otherwise known

00:07:03.560 as a child.

00:07:04.800 A clinic staffer

00:07:05.700 explained that

00:07:06.620 they were waiting

00:07:07.080 for the remains

00:07:07.680 to be picked up

00:07:08.320 by a detective

00:07:09.960 investigating

00:07:11.140 a rape case.

00:07:12.500 How could

00:07:16.500 you get rid

00:07:17.020 of so many

00:07:17.560 bodies?

00:07:18.740 The total

00:07:19.420 blindness

00:07:20.100 of abortion

00:07:21.320 defenders

00:07:22.000 is incredible.

00:07:23.960 This is the

00:07:25.120 kind of help

00:07:25.900 that you're

00:07:26.280 fine with?

00:07:27.520 We found

00:07:28.460 two of these

00:07:29.780 monsters in the

00:07:30.800 last couple of

00:07:31.440 years.

00:07:32.160 Two! 0.99

00:07:32.800 Not one,

00:07:33.840 two! 0.99

00:07:38.280 And you're

00:07:39.400 comfortable with

00:07:40.220 this?

00:07:40.540 All of us

00:07:45.200 at the

00:07:45.500 Whole Women's 1.00

00:07:46.200 Health Alliance

00:07:46.720 are shocked

00:07:47.620 by the news.

00:07:49.020 We are proud

00:07:49.500 to serve a

00:07:49.960 community with

00:07:50.520 high-quality

00:07:51.280 abortion care

00:07:51.980 services that

00:07:52.880 respect the

00:07:53.580 dignity of

00:07:54.820 women and 0.99

00:07:55.380 families.

00:07:56.660 Really?

00:07:57.920 This guy's been

00:07:58.520 there for 43

00:07:59.460 years.

00:08:00.340 He buried

00:08:01.120 almost 2,500

00:08:02.280 children in

00:08:03.640 his backyard.

00:08:05.380 They're shocked

00:08:06.500 by this news?

00:08:07.460 stockpiling

00:08:10.480 baby parts

00:08:11.440 and you're

00:08:12.300 shocked by it.

00:08:13.320 Nobody said

00:08:14.000 anything?

00:08:16.680 By the way,

00:08:17.980 only a local

00:08:18.900 news station

00:08:19.720 has reached

00:08:20.940 out in

00:08:22.200 South Bend

00:08:22.840 to Mayor

00:08:23.860 Pete Buttigieg.

00:08:26.060 He hasn't

00:08:27.100 commented on it.

00:08:27.900 There's no

00:08:28.260 response.

00:08:30.460 His office

00:08:31.140 must be

00:08:31.560 scrambling to

00:08:32.120 figure out how

00:08:32.620 to be outraged

00:08:33.380 by the discovery

00:08:34.140 of these bodies

00:08:35.220 yet continue

00:08:36.800 to defend

00:08:37.600 abortion.

00:08:39.100 The mental

00:08:39.880 gymnastics 0.99

00:08:40.560 can't be easy

00:08:41.840 but then again

00:08:42.600 he's the guy

00:08:43.300 who said a lot

00:08:43.940 of parts of

00:08:44.420 the Bible

00:08:44.740 talk about

00:08:45.300 how life

00:08:45.740 begins with

00:08:46.280 breath.

00:08:47.900 Holy cow. 0.89

00:08:51.000 I guess

00:08:51.740 that makes

00:08:52.240 I guess

00:08:54.760 this makes

00:08:55.200 Dr. Klopfer's

00:08:56.480 sick trophy

00:08:57.560 collection

00:08:58.200 totally okay

00:08:59.980 with so many

00:09:00.760 people.

00:09:01.180 today I

00:09:05.380 just want to

00:09:05.760 spend a few

00:09:06.200 minutes on

00:09:07.160 the crazy

00:09:08.720 things that

00:09:09.420 the left is

00:09:10.000 paying attention

00:09:10.560 to. 0.94

00:09:11.400 Crazy,

00:09:12.540 crazy things.

00:09:17.880 They say

00:09:18.740 the greatest

00:09:19.360 threat to

00:09:20.960 lives in

00:09:22.140 America today

00:09:22.980 is climate

00:09:23.880 change.

00:09:24.920 And when it's

00:09:25.820 not climate

00:09:26.320 change,

00:09:26.900 it's guns.

00:09:28.780 But Dr.

00:09:29.420 Klopfer's

00:09:29.900 collection of

00:09:30.460 over 2,200

00:09:32.260 preserved bodies

00:09:33.900 of aborted

00:09:34.680 babies,

00:09:35.680 which is

00:09:36.840 more than

00:09:37.420 three times

00:09:38.640 the number

00:09:39.080 of Americans

00:09:39.700 killed by

00:09:40.660 shootings on

00:09:41.800 school campuses

00:09:43.040 since

00:09:44.480 1973.

00:09:49.880 Those 22

00:09:51.260 babies,

00:09:52.120 just a fraction

00:09:52.820 of the estimated

00:09:53.600 50,000 plus

00:09:54.780 abortions that

00:09:55.520 he performed

00:09:56.160 during his

00:09:56.680 life,

00:09:57.460 and that's

00:09:57.940 just one

00:09:58.420 doctor in

00:09:58.980 one state.

00:10:00.340 How many

00:10:00.980 more of

00:10:01.660 them have

00:10:02.040 little

00:10:02.300 collections

00:10:02.980 of their

00:10:03.540 own?

00:10:04.200 Were these

00:10:04.780 2,200

00:10:05.560 children special

00:10:07.100 to him

00:10:07.640 in some

00:10:08.420 reason?

00:10:09.860 Is he

00:10:11.180 collecting

00:10:11.620 them because

00:10:12.260 maybe,

00:10:13.320 maybe these

00:10:15.680 were the

00:10:16.020 abortions that

00:10:16.920 he really

00:10:17.320 wanted to

00:10:17.900 shout that

00:10:18.500 he was so

00:10:19.040 proud of?

00:10:19.980 2,200

00:10:23.280 trophies.

00:10:26.140 If the

00:10:26.900 left is

00:10:27.340 truly

00:10:27.720 concerned

00:10:28.280 about

00:10:28.580 mass

00:10:29.200 killings

00:10:29.900 of 0.99

00:10:30.200 children,

00:10:31.680 we live

00:10:32.520 in a

00:10:33.100 crazy

00:10:33.720 world.

00:10:35.000 A 0.58

00:10:35.220 crazy

00:10:35.740 world.

00:10:36.980 We are

00:10:37.560 possibly,

00:10:39.080 and I

00:10:39.280 don't think

00:10:39.760 so,

00:10:40.080 because I

00:10:40.460 think,

00:10:40.940 I think

00:10:41.780 Donald

00:10:42.100 Trump may

00:10:43.220 be exactly

00:10:44.040 the right

00:10:44.580 president to

00:10:45.280 have with

00:10:45.900 the world

00:10:46.640 itching

00:10:47.880 for war.

00:10:49.740 I don't,

00:10:51.080 I just

00:10:51.740 can't see

00:10:52.540 him going

00:10:53.340 to war

00:10:53.880 with Iran,

00:10:54.800 and I

00:10:55.500 thank God

00:10:56.220 for that,

00:10:57.140 but boy,

00:10:57.920 is Iran

00:10:58.380 itching

00:10:58.740 for a war

00:10:59.340 with us.

00:11:00.560 With all

00:11:01.480 of the

00:11:01.860 things that

00:11:02.320 are going

00:11:02.640 on,

00:11:02.940 the oil

00:11:03.600 situation

00:11:04.300 alone,

00:11:05.260 it's up

00:11:05.680 20 bucks

00:11:06.400 today.

00:11:08.020 Why?

00:11:09.660 Because

00:11:10.300 Saudi Arabia

00:11:11.240 had a

00:11:12.700 drone

00:11:13.940 strike

00:11:14.700 on one 0.77

00:11:16.680 of their

00:11:16.940 biggest

00:11:17.560 oil fields

00:11:19.300 and has

00:11:21.260 shut down

00:11:21.760 oil production

00:11:22.500 of about

00:11:22.880 5% of

00:11:23.980 the world's

00:11:24.420 oil.

00:11:24.800 That's

00:11:25.160 significant.

00:11:27.120 And

00:11:27.720 it looks

00:11:28.960 like Iran 1.00

00:11:29.940 was behind

00:11:30.660 it.

00:11:31.180 Now,

00:11:31.420 they say

00:11:31.740 it was

00:11:32.000 the Houthis,

00:11:32.960 but where

00:11:34.980 are they

00:11:35.220 getting a

00:11:35.760 drone?

00:11:36.260 And really,

00:11:37.300 they're funded

00:11:38.380 by Iran.

00:11:39.600 Really?

00:11:40.400 Do you

00:11:40.660 really think

00:11:41.520 they're just

00:11:41.860 like,

00:11:42.120 you know

00:11:42.400 what?

00:11:43.080 We're

00:11:43.360 Houthis.

00:11:43.940 Let's

00:11:44.180 just do

00:11:44.820 it.

00:11:45.360 We don't

00:11:45.900 care.

00:11:46.440 Let's

00:11:46.660 just go

00:11:47.180 on our

00:11:47.520 own.

00:11:48.740 We'll

00:11:49.200 have more

00:11:49.660 on that

00:11:50.160 coming up

00:11:50.880 in just

00:11:51.580 a few

00:11:51.860 minutes.

00:11:52.920 But this

00:11:53.740 is crazy.

00:11:56.120 Crazy. 0.99

00:11:58.300 Then you

00:11:59.020 have Beto. 0.88

00:11:59.940 Can we

00:12:00.180 play the

00:12:00.600 Beto who

00:12:01.300 says he's

00:12:01.860 been talking

00:12:02.380 to Texans?

00:12:03.240 I'd like

00:12:04.000 to know

00:12:04.620 who these

00:12:05.420 Texans are.

00:12:06.480 Listen to

00:12:06.720 this.

00:12:07.400 We are

00:12:07.800 proud of

00:12:08.660 gun

00:12:08.840 ownership,

00:12:09.440 but

00:12:09.580 responsible

00:12:10.220 gun

00:12:11.100 ownership

00:12:11.520 that would

00:12:11.920 never entail

00:12:12.760 threatening

00:12:13.240 somebody with

00:12:14.520 that firearm.

00:12:15.500 Using guns

00:12:16.620 to hunt

00:12:17.120 or for

00:12:17.860 self-defense

00:12:18.680 makes a lot

00:12:19.440 of sense

00:12:19.800 to us

00:12:20.380 here in

00:12:20.700 Texas.

00:12:21.420 But having

00:12:21.900 a weapon

00:12:22.680 of war,

00:12:23.380 and even

00:12:23.800 from those

00:12:24.720 Texans who

00:12:25.580 own AR-15s,

00:12:26.600 they've told

00:12:26.900 me this

00:12:27.180 themselves,

00:12:27.840 I don't need

00:12:28.440 this.

00:12:28.880 I don't need

00:12:29.260 it to hunt.

00:12:29.800 I don't need

00:12:30.140 it to protect

00:12:30.580 myself.

00:12:31.100 It was fun

00:12:31.680 to use.

00:12:32.600 I like

00:12:32.880 taking it

00:12:33.240 out to the

00:12:33.620 range.

00:12:34.100 But if

00:12:34.540 giving this

00:12:35.400 back or

00:12:36.040 cutting it 0.73

00:12:36.540 to pieces

00:12:36.940 or selling

00:12:37.400 it to the

00:12:37.760 government

00:12:38.080 helps to

00:12:38.860 keep us

00:12:39.260 safer,

00:12:40.020 then by all

00:12:40.420 means,

00:12:40.720 let's do it

00:12:41.080 because they'll

00:12:41.860 tell me I

00:12:42.620 have kids in

00:12:43.340 school as

00:12:44.000 well,

00:12:44.300 and they

00:12:44.820 ask me

00:12:45.480 whether it's

00:12:46.260 a matter of

00:12:47.120 when or if

00:12:49.200 a killer is

00:12:50.480 going to come

00:12:50.840 into their

00:12:51.340 school and

00:12:52.180 take the

00:12:52.600 lives of

00:12:52.940 their fellow

00:12:53.300 students or

00:12:54.100 take their

00:12:54.840 kids' lives.

00:12:55.680 Wow.

00:12:56.280 So would

00:12:56.920 that killer

00:12:57.440 be the guy

00:12:58.220 who wants

00:12:58.780 to give

00:12:59.080 up the

00:12:59.380 gun?

00:13:00.620 I mean,

00:13:01.200 because why

00:13:01.820 would the

00:13:02.200 guy who's

00:13:02.780 giving up

00:13:03.180 the gun,

00:13:03.940 you know,

00:13:04.260 if this is

00:13:04.700 going to

00:13:04.940 help,

00:13:05.740 this is

00:13:05.960 going to

00:13:06.140 help,

00:13:06.360 because I

00:13:06.740 know it's

00:13:07.040 just a

00:13:07.320 matter of

00:13:07.800 it's not

00:13:08.400 even if,

00:13:10.020 it's when.

00:13:10.880 I know a

00:13:12.060 killer is

00:13:12.460 going to come 0.98

00:13:12.880 into my

00:13:13.340 kid's school.

00:13:14.200 If I knew

00:13:16.160 that that

00:13:16.820 was true,

00:13:18.160 I would be

00:13:19.380 there with

00:13:19.960 my gun

00:13:20.360 waiting.

00:13:21.280 I would be

00:13:21.780 demanding that

00:13:22.600 the school

00:13:23.260 has armed

00:13:24.760 personnel

00:13:25.300 around.

00:13:26.060 You know

00:13:26.920 this is

00:13:27.440 going to

00:13:27.720 happen,

00:13:28.460 and so

00:13:28.760 what do

00:13:29.260 you do?

00:13:30.360 You,

00:13:31.060 as a

00:13:31.380 law-abiding

00:13:31.980 citizen,

00:13:32.780 give your

00:13:33.500 gun away 0.94

00:13:34.080 or cut it

00:13:34.780 up?

00:13:35.800 How does

00:13:36.480 that make

00:13:36.820 sense at

00:13:37.260 all?

00:13:37.880 Right.

00:13:37.980 You're

00:13:38.160 basically

00:13:38.420 admitting

00:13:38.780 you're

00:13:39.520 worried

00:13:39.940 about you

00:13:40.500 committing

00:13:40.820 a mass

00:13:41.140 shooting.

00:13:41.700 Right.

00:13:42.140 You could

00:13:42.620 say,

00:13:42.920 I want

00:13:43.200 everyone

00:13:43.420 else's

00:13:43.760 band,

00:13:44.100 but I

00:13:44.240 want to

00:13:44.420 keep

00:13:44.560 mine

00:13:44.780 because

00:13:44.920 I

00:13:45.040 know

00:13:45.160 I'm

00:13:45.680 safe.

00:13:46.860 That is

00:13:47.680 a

00:13:48.000 progressive

00:13:48.820 position.

00:13:49.620 Everyone

00:13:49.880 else is

00:13:50.300 going to

00:13:50.420 be the

00:13:50.600 bad

00:13:50.780 guy,

00:13:51.100 but I'm

00:13:54.760 the only

00:13:56.580 way that

00:13:57.400 you selling

00:13:58.360 your gun

00:13:58.860 back to

00:13:59.900 the government

00:14:00.380 is going

00:14:01.280 to make

00:14:01.560 the world

00:14:01.840 safer is

00:14:02.380 if you

00:14:02.680 were going

00:14:02.980 to use

00:14:03.300 this gun

00:14:03.680 in a

00:14:03.960 terrible

00:14:04.200 way.

00:14:04.960 Let me

00:14:05.100 ask you,

00:14:05.520 Stu,

00:14:05.700 how many

00:14:06.180 Texans

00:14:08.040 that own

00:14:10.360 an AR,

00:14:12.100 a weapon

00:14:12.600 of war?

00:14:13.120 You've

00:14:13.380 already

00:14:13.540 decided to

00:14:14.120 do that.

00:14:14.660 Think

00:14:14.820 about the

00:14:15.100 person

00:14:15.420 who's

00:14:16.040 that

00:14:16.160 profile.

00:14:16.740 It is

00:14:17.040 one of

00:14:17.200 the most

00:14:17.400 popular

00:14:17.740 sporting

00:14:18.080 rifles

00:14:18.340 in

00:14:18.480 America,

00:14:18.940 but not

00:14:19.680 every

00:14:20.000 liberal

00:14:20.360 is going

00:14:20.700 to buy

00:14:21.000 them.

00:14:21.560 These are

00:14:22.220 people who

00:14:22.580 care.

00:14:23.720 It's not

00:14:24.200 the first

00:14:24.540 gun

00:14:24.760 you buy

00:14:25.060 either.

00:14:25.740 It's a

00:14:26.260 gun that

00:14:26.700 you buy,

00:14:27.880 I mean,

00:14:28.280 what is

00:14:28.440 there,

00:14:28.980 how many

00:14:30.000 million?

00:14:30.500 It might

00:14:30.840 be,

00:14:31.440 there's

00:14:31.780 20

00:14:32.020 million ARs.

00:14:32.520 I was

00:14:33.040 going to

00:14:33.120 say 15,

00:14:33.660 but we

00:14:33.940 have 20

00:14:34.300 million.

00:14:35.440 So 20

00:14:35.860 million is

00:14:36.320 again,

00:14:36.660 it's the

00:14:37.520 most popular

00:14:38.080 modern

00:14:38.580 sporting

00:14:39.100 rifle,

00:14:39.580 but not

00:14:39.820 nearly the

00:14:40.600 most popular

00:14:41.120 gun in

00:14:41.660 America.

00:14:42.320 If you're

00:14:42.840 a gun

00:14:43.200 owner,

00:14:44.160 it's

00:14:44.400 typically

00:14:44.880 not the

00:14:45.280 first gun

00:14:45.820 you go

00:14:46.040 out and

00:14:46.240 buy.

00:14:47.140 You have

00:14:47.460 to probably

00:14:47.960 like guns.

00:14:48.720 You like

00:14:49.100 going to

00:14:49.500 the range,

00:14:50.000 like shooting 1.00

00:14:50.480 them. 1.00

00:14:51.140 Not

00:14:51.580 necessarily

00:14:52.020 going to

00:14:52.380 be some

00:14:52.660 hardcore

00:14:53.080 anti-gun

00:14:54.020 person that

00:14:54.940 would ever

00:14:55.320 do that.

00:14:56.020 So these

00:14:56.300 people have

00:14:56.680 already made

00:14:57.320 the decision

00:14:57.840 to go buy

00:14:58.620 an AR-15

00:14:59.280 and are now

00:14:59.740 telling Beto,

00:15:00.400 you know

00:15:00.560 what,

00:15:00.780 you're right.

00:15:01.720 I can't

00:15:02.220 wait to

00:15:02.460 turn this

00:15:02.760 thing in

00:15:03.060 because gosh,

00:15:03.680 you never

00:15:03.960 know when

00:15:04.300 I'll just

00:15:04.520 go into

00:15:04.800 a school

00:15:05.100 and start 1.00

00:15:05.380 shooting it. 1.00

00:15:06.400 That is

00:15:06.980 a weird

00:15:07.460 person.

00:15:08.080 That's a

00:15:08.360 person that,

00:15:08.900 let me help

00:15:09.600 you with this,

00:15:10.000 doesn't exist.

00:15:11.840 In California,

00:15:12.940 maybe.

00:15:13.760 In California,

00:15:14.820 maybe.

00:15:15.140 I think

00:15:15.480 it's more

00:15:15.820 of a

00:15:16.040 thing where

00:15:16.600 people tell

00:15:17.840 you what

00:15:18.360 you want

00:15:19.180 to hear.

00:15:20.080 Now,

00:15:20.360 besides the

00:15:22.140 fact that

00:15:22.440 he's obviously

00:15:23.220 making a lot

00:15:23.800 of this up,

00:15:24.300 first off,

00:15:25.780 straight up

00:15:26.480 lying.

00:15:27.140 He's just

00:15:27.500 making up

00:15:27.960 people that

00:15:28.320 don't exist

00:15:28.760 when he

00:15:29.020 comes to

00:15:29.320 these large

00:15:29.740 numbers.

00:15:30.420 But has

00:15:30.740 somebody in

00:15:31.460 line at

00:15:32.360 an event

00:15:32.780 told him

00:15:33.300 this?

00:15:34.140 It's

00:15:34.440 possible.

00:15:35.400 That doesn't

00:15:35.800 mean that you

00:15:36.180 should believe

00:15:36.820 them.

00:15:37.180 Hang on

00:15:37.440 just a second.

00:15:37.960 We're talking

00:15:38.320 about Beto.

00:15:38.860 Have you

00:15:39.080 heard his

00:15:39.360 new song?

00:15:40.500 Is it

00:15:40.800 new campaign

00:15:41.540 music?

00:15:42.240 No.

00:15:42.640 Yeah,

00:15:42.960 go ahead and

00:15:43.420 play.

00:15:44.840 Okay,

00:15:45.240 go ahead.

00:15:45.680 Okay.

00:15:46.340 All right.

00:15:47.260 Is he playing

00:15:48.160 this himself?

00:15:48.860 No,

00:15:49.300 he's got a

00:15:49.600 little monkey

00:15:49.980 that's playing

00:15:50.580 it now.

00:15:51.060 Oh, wow.

00:15:51.260 Yeah,

00:15:51.460 it's really

00:15:51.820 kind of cool.

00:15:52.620 So,

00:15:53.200 I want to

00:15:53.800 take him 1.00

00:15:54.100 dead seriously 0.66

00:15:54.820 here.

00:15:55.520 He really

00:15:56.560 is at the

00:15:57.160 point where

00:15:57.580 it's just

00:15:57.860 like,

00:15:58.140 what's the

00:15:58.860 issue of

00:15:59.180 the day?

00:15:59.540 Okay,

00:15:59.940 what's the

00:16:00.420 craziest

00:16:00.680 thing I

00:16:00.980 can say?

00:16:01.320 Okay,

00:16:01.520 take that,

00:16:02.020 triple it,

00:16:02.560 and let me

00:16:02.800 go make

00:16:03.060 a state.

00:16:03.480 He's so

00:16:05.160 desperate.

00:16:05.900 He is.

00:16:07.140 He's like,

00:16:07.720 look at me,

00:16:08.140 look at me,

00:16:08.600 look at me,

00:16:09.000 please look

00:16:09.580 at me,

00:16:10.120 please.

00:16:10.860 First of all,

00:16:11.660 anybody who

00:16:12.300 started,

00:16:12.800 we can stop

00:16:13.340 it,

00:16:13.780 anybody who

00:16:14.700 started their

00:16:17.240 campaign with

00:16:18.080 saying to

00:16:18.900 the people,

00:16:20.160 I'll be

00:16:21.020 whoever you

00:16:21.720 need me to

00:16:22.320 be.

00:16:22.580 Tell me who

00:16:23.120 you need me

00:16:23.740 to be.

00:16:24.160 And he's

00:16:24.340 proving that

00:16:24.720 today.

00:16:25.340 Right.

00:16:25.820 I mean,

00:16:26.180 this is,

00:16:26.900 he's seeing,

00:16:27.680 well,

00:16:28.140 I'm not

00:16:28.520 getting,

00:16:28.760 I didn't get

00:16:29.140 any traction

00:16:29.700 with trying

00:16:30.360 to be the

00:16:30.920 sensible one

00:16:31.820 here,

00:16:32.240 so let me

00:16:32.980 go further

00:16:33.520 than everyone

00:16:34.100 else and see

00:16:34.760 if that one

00:16:35.160 works,

00:16:35.860 because at

00:16:36.160 least at

00:16:36.440 the end

00:16:36.740 of the day,

00:16:37.260 I can get

00:16:37.680 a nice,

00:16:38.120 you know,

00:16:39.220 I can be

00:16:39.620 on MSNBC,

00:16:41.000 when this

00:16:41.340 thing falls

00:16:42.100 apart,

00:16:42.580 I can go

00:16:43.060 to a

00:16:43.460 think tank.

00:16:44.040 He's

00:16:44.260 completely

00:16:44.980 meaningless.

00:16:46.580 Oh,

00:16:46.920 I agree.

00:16:47.440 I agree.

00:16:48.060 But you'll

00:16:48.620 see the media

00:16:49.420 totally embracing

00:16:50.340 him now that

00:16:50.840 he's taking

00:16:51.300 all these

00:16:51.580 crazy stances,

00:16:52.880 right?

00:16:53.500 But I mean,

00:16:53.960 but nobody

00:16:54.920 else is.

00:16:56.520 The media

00:16:57.120 might,

00:16:58.120 but nobody

00:16:58.900 else is.

00:16:59.680 But like,

00:16:59.960 how many times

00:17:00.800 have we had

00:17:01.240 this call

00:17:01.800 from someone

00:17:02.420 in the audience?

00:17:03.960 Hi,

00:17:04.620 life log

00:17:05.340 Republican,

00:17:06.420 or life log

00:17:06.980 Democrat,

00:17:07.400 voted Democrat

00:17:08.640 every single

00:17:09.200 time.

00:17:09.620 But this

00:17:10.500 one time

00:17:11.480 on the election

00:17:12.180 that's coming

00:17:12.780 up is the

00:17:13.300 time I'm

00:17:14.040 changing.

00:17:14.680 There are

00:17:15.560 people,

00:17:16.300 obviously,

00:17:17.000 who are

00:17:17.180 lifelong

00:17:17.500 Democrats

00:17:17.880 and have

00:17:18.160 switched on

00:17:18.640 every election

00:17:19.200 we've ever

00:17:19.560 covered.

00:17:20.040 However,

00:17:20.660 all those

00:17:21.280 people seem

00:17:22.140 to find their

00:17:22.660 way to call

00:17:23.300 us right

00:17:23.800 before the

00:17:24.140 election.

00:17:24.460 And it

00:17:25.200 makes me

00:17:25.560 believe,

00:17:26.480 as we found

00:17:27.700 out recently

00:17:28.180 with reports

00:17:28.780 among Democrats,

00:17:30.000 seminar callers,

00:17:32.100 Democrats actually

00:17:32.980 did have a

00:17:33.820 program in the

00:17:35.000 90s with

00:17:36.020 Hillary Clinton.

00:17:36.880 This just

00:17:37.160 came out.

00:17:37.760 It's in his

00:17:38.320 museum.

00:17:39.500 The Clinton

00:17:40.120 Museum has the

00:17:40.820 documents showing

00:17:41.840 that they actually

00:17:42.660 did recruit

00:17:43.720 people to call

00:17:44.400 into talk shows

00:17:45.080 to make their

00:17:46.060 points and try

00:17:46.760 to sound like

00:17:47.940 they were

00:17:48.420 average everyday

00:17:49.480 people.

00:17:49.960 I've always been

00:17:50.720 with you guys,

00:17:51.560 always.

00:17:52.260 But this time,

00:17:53.240 I gotta give

00:17:54.720 up my gun.

00:17:55.540 I gotta give

00:17:56.860 up my gun

00:17:57.560 because it just

00:17:58.420 makes total

00:17:59.200 sense.

00:17:59.920 But let me

00:18:00.680 tell you something.

00:18:01.300 I used to

00:18:01.880 hunt lions.

00:18:02.720 I used to

00:18:03.780 hunt tame

00:18:04.660 lions.

00:18:05.140 I hunted

00:18:05.920 lions in

00:18:07.000 the zoo.

00:18:08.720 And how I'd

00:18:09.760 hunt them is I 1.00

00:18:10.400 would shoot 1.00

00:18:11.000 innocent elephants

00:18:12.080 that would fall

00:18:13.240 on the lion.

00:18:14.780 But now,

00:18:16.100 this one time,

00:18:17.300 I gotta give

00:18:17.840 up my guns.

00:18:18.580 I gotta give

00:18:19.080 up because it

00:18:19.780 just makes

00:18:20.280 sense.

00:18:23.240 The best of

00:18:24.160 the Glenn Beck

00:18:24.660 program.

00:18:25.120 Hey, it's Glenn.

00:18:33.140 And if you

00:18:33.400 like what you

00:18:33.760 hear on the

00:18:34.140 program, you

00:18:34.760 should check

00:18:35.160 out Pat

00:18:35.780 Gray Unleashed.

00:18:37.260 His podcast

00:18:37.880 is available

00:18:38.500 wherever you

00:18:39.200 download your

00:18:39.880 favorite podcast.

00:18:41.140 President Trump

00:18:41.980 said the United

00:18:42.860 States is,

00:18:43.740 quote, locked

00:18:44.200 and loaded

00:18:44.980 and prepared

00:18:45.940 to respond.

00:18:47.840 But I don't

00:18:48.780 think he wants

00:18:49.780 to go to war.

00:18:50.680 This president

00:18:51.260 is not looking

00:18:52.660 to go to war.

00:18:53.720 The Iranians 0.99

00:18:54.520 know this.

00:18:55.140 The press

00:18:55.660 knows this.

00:18:56.500 But they're

00:18:56.840 not saying

00:18:57.760 that.

00:18:59.140 Iran first 1.00

00:18:59.960 attacked our

00:19:00.480 oil tankers,

00:19:01.260 then shot

00:19:01.680 down one

00:19:02.080 of our

00:19:02.340 drones.

00:19:03.360 Now they've

00:19:03.920 attacked Saudi

00:19:04.600 Arabia,

00:19:05.160 shutting off

00:19:05.640 5% of the

00:19:06.600 global oil

00:19:07.260 supply.

00:19:08.840 Things are

00:19:09.620 going to get

00:19:10.260 worse.

00:19:11.240 Now here's

00:19:11.840 why.

00:19:12.940 Iran wants 0.99

00:19:14.060 sanctions

00:19:14.800 relief.

00:19:15.600 That's not a

00:19:16.380 secret.

00:19:17.160 We are

00:19:17.660 crippling them 0.99

00:19:19.100 economically

00:19:19.940 because they

00:19:21.280 are going for

00:19:22.340 nuclear weapons.

00:19:23.660 the minute

00:19:24.820 they get

00:19:25.480 nuclear weapons,

00:19:26.760 we have to

00:19:27.360 deal with

00:19:27.960 these crazy 1.00

00:19:28.680 people like 0.92

00:19:29.760 we deal with

00:19:30.440 Kim Jong-un.

00:19:31.360 There are

00:19:31.740 no good

00:19:32.560 options.

00:19:34.100 So the

00:19:34.860 president is

00:19:35.580 using every

00:19:36.360 bit of our

00:19:36.840 power that

00:19:37.320 we have to 0.94

00:19:38.100 cripple them 1.00

00:19:39.100 and hopefully

00:19:41.640 get them to

00:19:42.340 fall into line

00:19:43.320 or some sort

00:19:44.860 of a regime

00:19:45.620 change that

00:19:46.300 does not

00:19:46.940 come from

00:19:47.500 us but

00:19:48.260 comes from

00:19:48.800 the people.

00:19:49.340 the people

00:19:50.300 like the

00:19:51.360 West.

00:19:52.800 This is a

00:19:53.720 different place

00:19:54.780 in the

00:19:55.200 Middle East.

00:19:57.040 Now, my

00:19:59.560 advice to

00:20:00.100 the president

00:20:00.640 would be

00:20:01.120 this, just

00:20:02.500 keep your

00:20:03.080 cool and

00:20:03.920 weather the

00:20:04.500 storm.

00:20:05.720 Let the

00:20:06.180 Saudis 1.00

00:20:06.760 respond

00:20:07.420 militarily to

00:20:08.460 the militia

00:20:09.040 that, you

00:20:10.000 know, attacked

00:20:10.740 the Saudi

00:20:12.240 oil

00:20:13.120 refinery.

00:20:14.980 Do what

00:20:15.420 Israel has 1.00

00:20:16.040 been doing

00:20:17.120 for decades.

00:20:17.940 have the

00:20:19.360 Saudis 1.00

00:20:19.800 target the

00:20:20.400 militias, 0.78

00:20:20.920 destroy the

00:20:21.480 high-tech

00:20:21.940 weaponry they

00:20:22.600 have, meanwhile

00:20:23.920 have the

00:20:24.400 Treasury Department

00:20:25.140 continue to

00:20:26.480 hit the

00:20:26.820 Iranian regime

00:20:27.580 where it hurts

00:20:28.140 the most in

00:20:28.860 their wallets,

00:20:29.560 continue maximum

00:20:31.140 pressure because

00:20:32.040 it is working.

00:20:33.060 Iran is doing 1.00

00:20:34.120 what terrorists 0.65

00:20:35.180 do.

00:20:36.280 They are trying

00:20:37.020 to terrorize the

00:20:38.040 world and scare

00:20:39.000 us.

00:20:39.800 They are trying

00:20:40.280 to terrorize us

00:20:41.520 and terrorize the

00:20:42.420 world into getting

00:20:43.240 their way.

00:20:44.600 This attack will

00:20:45.640 not be our

00:20:46.940 last.

00:20:47.940 But we

00:20:48.680 cannot continue

00:20:49.940 the business

00:20:50.540 of responding

00:20:51.260 with our

00:20:51.980 military every

00:20:53.280 time someone

00:20:53.840 else should be

00:20:54.860 taking care of

00:20:55.600 it themselves.

00:20:56.800 The Saudis 0.93

00:20:57.580 have bought a

00:20:58.280 lot of weapons

00:20:59.040 from us.

00:20:59.900 Maybe they

00:21:00.760 should start

00:21:01.400 using them

00:21:02.320 themselves.

00:21:03.660 We should

00:21:04.620 not go to

00:21:05.300 war.

00:21:06.060 But I want

00:21:06.740 you to

00:21:07.020 understand fully

00:21:08.240 how much

00:21:09.440 the world

00:21:10.080 is changing.

00:21:11.840 And I

00:21:13.320 hate to...

00:21:15.940 Well, no, I

00:21:17.220 don't.

00:21:17.580 I want to

00:21:17.960 give you the

00:21:18.380 history of

00:21:19.820 the social

00:21:20.780 revolution,

00:21:21.820 Saudi economics,

00:21:23.040 the politics,

00:21:23.880 and how we're

00:21:24.960 even in bed with

00:21:25.860 them in the

00:21:26.420 first place.

00:21:27.080 Because Saudi 0.98

00:21:28.060 Arabia has 0.99

00:21:29.760 played a very

00:21:30.920 key role in

00:21:32.240 keeping our

00:21:32.940 dollar stable.

00:21:33.840 And I don't

00:21:34.800 know if that's

00:21:35.740 going to last

00:21:36.620 much longer

00:21:37.280 because the

00:21:37.860 world is

00:21:38.360 changing.

00:21:39.340 So let me

00:21:39.640 give you a bit

00:21:40.080 of history.

00:21:40.580 At the end

00:21:42.000 of World War

00:21:42.540 II, Europe

00:21:43.260 and Asia,

00:21:44.220 everybody was

00:21:44.800 in shambles

00:21:45.660 except the

00:21:46.260 United States.

00:21:47.260 The USSR 0.89

00:21:47.920 was pressing

00:21:48.920 its military

00:21:49.640 might all

00:21:50.420 across Eastern

00:21:51.280 Europe, and

00:21:52.400 we needed

00:21:53.100 financial

00:21:53.860 stability.

00:21:55.180 All of the

00:21:55.700 Western allies

00:21:56.580 tied their

00:21:57.220 currency to

00:21:59.060 the U.S.

00:21:59.980 dollar, which

00:22:01.220 at the time

00:22:02.000 was backed

00:22:02.620 in gold.

00:22:04.140 Then the

00:22:04.600 United States

00:22:05.240 and the rest

00:22:05.840 of the West

00:22:06.400 got greedy,

00:22:07.620 and they said

00:22:07.980 there's not

00:22:08.360 enough gold to

00:22:09.620 do all the

00:22:10.280 things we

00:22:10.800 want to

00:22:11.180 do.

00:22:12.200 And so in

00:22:12.760 1971, Nixon

00:22:14.440 closed what's

00:22:15.420 called the

00:22:15.760 gold window

00:22:16.500 at the

00:22:16.920 Treasury, which

00:22:17.720 meant if you

00:22:19.060 had a dollar,

00:22:19.860 you could go

00:22:20.380 in and get

00:22:20.960 a dollar's

00:22:21.560 worth of

00:22:21.940 gold.

00:22:22.700 We were

00:22:23.320 off the

00:22:23.980 gold standard.

00:22:25.220 But what

00:22:25.620 people didn't

00:22:26.460 know at the

00:22:26.920 time, or

00:22:27.440 most, is

00:22:28.020 that Nixon

00:22:28.480 had a deal

00:22:29.220 with the

00:22:29.660 Saudi royal

00:22:30.380 family.

00:22:32.580 Our money

00:22:33.080 had to be

00:22:33.500 backed by

00:22:34.040 something,

00:22:34.860 otherwise

00:22:35.080 people, what

00:22:35.800 good would

00:22:36.460 it be?

00:22:36.840 Why would

00:22:37.260 you need

00:22:37.920 the U.S.

00:22:38.580 dollar

00:22:38.820 anymore?

00:22:40.280 In

00:22:41.060 exchange,

00:22:42.600 Saudi Arabia

00:22:43.620 agreed that

00:22:44.720 they would

00:22:46.660 only accept

00:22:47.800 U.S.

00:22:48.400 dollars for

00:22:49.160 the purchase

00:22:49.780 of its

00:22:50.360 oil if

00:22:51.980 the United

00:22:53.040 States would

00:22:54.420 provide ongoing

00:22:55.560 military support

00:22:56.680 for the

00:22:57.120 kingdom of

00:22:57.580 Saudi Arabia.

00:22:58.320 So we

00:22:58.640 would protect

00:22:59.280 them, and

00:23:00.680 they would

00:23:01.080 make sure

00:23:01.580 that everyone

00:23:02.420 who said,

00:23:03.060 hey, yeah,

00:23:03.460 I'd like to

00:23:03.860 buy a barrel

00:23:04.560 of oil for

00:23:05.180 me, had

00:23:05.680 to do it

00:23:06.120 in U.S.

00:23:06.640 dollars.

00:23:07.540 So that

00:23:08.480 is why

00:23:09.200 the U.S.

00:23:09.940 has the

00:23:10.720 reserve

00:23:11.920 currency

00:23:12.920 around the

00:23:14.760 rest of

00:23:15.140 the world.

00:23:15.680 But that

00:23:16.160 is beginning

00:23:16.640 to change.

00:23:18.100 However,

00:23:19.000 to this

00:23:19.560 day, 99%

00:23:21.560 of international

00:23:22.340 bank transfers

00:23:23.380 close in U.S.

00:23:25.000 dollars, and

00:23:25.920 over 92%

00:23:27.160 of all oil

00:23:28.240 purchases

00:23:28.780 occur in

00:23:29.900 U.S.

00:23:30.320 dollars.

00:23:30.660 And it's

00:23:31.480 been going

00:23:31.960 this way

00:23:32.460 for 50

00:23:33.180 years.

00:23:33.880 We've had

00:23:34.220 an alliance

00:23:34.760 with Saudi

00:23:35.300 Arabia.

00:23:36.320 We ensure

00:23:37.020 that their

00:23:37.380 borders are

00:23:37.940 safe.

00:23:38.820 They ensure 0.98

00:23:39.420 that the

00:23:39.780 U.S.

00:23:40.180 dollar is

00:23:40.920 the primary

00:23:41.580 currency

00:23:42.200 used for

00:23:43.400 financial

00:23:43.860 transactions

00:23:44.540 worldwide.

00:23:46.320 But something

00:23:47.460 happened here

00:23:49.020 in America.

00:23:50.360 Something big

00:23:51.680 happened.

00:23:52.940 About 15

00:23:53.880 years ago,

00:23:55.040 the roughnecks 0.99

00:23:55.960 here in

00:23:56.760 Texas, in

00:23:57.580 Colorado, in

00:23:58.340 Utah, North

00:23:59.100 Dakota, Kansas,

00:24:00.000 they figured

00:24:01.140 out a new

00:24:02.040 way, a new

00:24:03.060 technique of

00:24:04.080 changing the

00:24:05.800 shale stone

00:24:06.840 that we have

00:24:07.680 into oil.

00:24:10.360 Now, shale

00:24:11.540 is oil that

00:24:13.100 long ago

00:24:13.680 dried into

00:24:14.520 rock.

00:24:15.240 How do you

00:24:15.980 take that

00:24:16.900 rock and

00:24:17.680 turn it back

00:24:18.320 into oil?

00:24:19.660 Well, the

00:24:20.100 process is

00:24:20.900 called fracking.

00:24:22.360 Fracking

00:24:22.820 took hundreds

00:24:23.720 of millions

00:24:24.400 of cubic

00:24:24.940 yards of

00:24:25.500 earth and

00:24:26.100 transformed it

00:24:27.060 into energy.

00:24:28.220 We now

00:24:28.740 have one

00:24:29.980 1.8

00:24:30.940 trillion

00:24:31.880 barrels of

00:24:32.980 oil here

00:24:34.080 in the

00:24:34.560 United States.

00:24:35.900 That's enough

00:24:36.920 energy production

00:24:37.960 for more than

00:24:38.900 1,000 years

00:24:40.620 of U.S.

00:24:41.400 energy production,

00:24:42.580 including any

00:24:44.260 population growth.

00:24:46.060 For 1,000 years,

00:24:48.440 we can be

00:24:48.960 energy independent.

00:24:51.400 So what does

00:24:52.700 that mean?

00:24:53.880 Well, now that

00:24:54.560 we have the

00:24:55.760 largest oil

00:24:56.520 reserves,

00:24:57.180 oil production

00:24:59.180 from the U.S.

00:25:00.220 has put a

00:25:01.060 permanent cap

00:25:02.080 on global

00:25:02.980 oil prices

00:25:03.860 unless there's

00:25:05.480 a significant

00:25:06.100 disruption

00:25:06.700 in global

00:25:09.240 oil supplies.

00:25:11.280 Prices,

00:25:12.300 they say,

00:25:12.860 now we'll have

00:25:13.580 a hard time

00:25:14.200 getting over

00:25:14.960 $70 a barrel.

00:25:16.700 If this would

00:25:17.800 have happened

00:25:18.340 in 2008,

00:25:20.120 the price of

00:25:21.080 oil could have

00:25:21.840 gone up to

00:25:22.420 $200 a barrel.

00:25:23.760 What are we

00:25:24.520 looking at?

00:25:25.060 $65 a barrel?

00:25:26.580 It's up 20%?

00:25:28.880 Now this is

00:25:29.960 really significant

00:25:31.200 for Saudi Arabia.

00:25:33.100 I want you to

00:25:33.660 consider the

00:25:34.300 following.

00:25:36.540 Because we

00:25:37.680 have the

00:25:38.140 capability,

00:25:39.760 the U.S.

00:25:41.120 is keeping

00:25:41.620 oil prices

00:25:42.500 suppressed

00:25:43.160 into the

00:25:44.000 $55-$60

00:25:45.060 barrel range.

00:25:47.440 Saudi Arabia

00:25:48.600 is only

00:25:49.580 profitable

00:25:50.300 producing oil

00:25:51.320 at about

00:25:51.840 $80 a barrel.

00:25:53.760 So what

00:25:56.220 does that

00:25:56.520 mean?

00:25:57.800 More than

00:25:58.580 80% of

00:25:59.600 Saudi Arabia's

00:26:00.300 GDP is

00:26:01.160 based in

00:26:01.780 oil and

00:26:02.440 energy

00:26:02.920 production.

00:26:03.760 For

00:26:03.860 comparison,

00:26:05.220 in the

00:26:05.660 U.S.,

00:26:06.020 less than

00:26:06.400 8% of

00:26:07.240 our GDP

00:26:07.780 relies on

00:26:08.720 energy

00:26:09.140 production.

00:26:10.580 They're

00:26:10.940 80.

00:26:12.540 So a few

00:26:13.200 years ago,

00:26:14.300 Saudi Arabia

00:26:14.960 operated its

00:26:15.820 first budget

00:26:16.800 deficit since

00:26:17.900 the 1950s.

00:26:19.540 They've been

00:26:20.320 swimming in

00:26:21.500 cash.

00:26:22.740 It's the

00:26:23.680 only thing

00:26:24.240 that has

00:26:24.560 held that

00:26:24.980 country

00:26:25.360 together,

00:26:25.900 because

00:26:26.940 everybody is

00:26:28.060 rich.

00:26:28.920 But now

00:26:30.060 they can't

00:26:31.040 afford those

00:26:31.840 things.

00:26:32.700 In 2016,

00:26:33.960 they issued

00:26:34.340 government

00:26:34.760 bonds.

00:26:36.000 That means

00:26:36.740 they took on

00:26:37.300 government debt

00:26:38.060 for the first

00:26:38.640 time since the

00:26:39.400 50s to cover

00:26:40.260 the budget

00:26:40.740 shortfalls.

00:26:41.420 the government

00:26:42.520 is now

00:26:43.000 losing about

00:26:43.540 $12 billion

00:26:44.560 a year and

00:26:46.320 is, you

00:26:47.160 know, has

00:26:48.140 to raise

00:26:49.760 their debt

00:26:50.400 ceiling to

00:26:51.220 cover those

00:26:51.700 deficits.

00:26:53.140 In 2017,

00:26:55.720 Saudi Arabia

00:26:57.020 announced new

00:26:58.440 plans under

00:26:59.200 the crown

00:26:59.660 prince, you

00:27:00.400 remember him,

00:27:01.460 Mohammed bin 1.00

00:27:02.440 Salman, to

00:27:04.100 take the

00:27:04.760 Saudi Arabian

00:27:05.880 oil industry,

00:27:07.940 Aramco, and

00:27:10.140 take it to

00:27:11.100 an IPO.

00:27:12.360 They were

00:27:12.700 going to

00:27:13.080 modernize

00:27:13.840 everything, and

00:27:14.540 they were

00:27:14.760 going to let

00:27:15.520 everybody invest.

00:27:17.500 But by

00:27:18.380 2018, that

00:27:20.000 IPO was

00:27:20.680 falling apart.

00:27:21.520 Oil prices

00:27:22.200 had fallen

00:27:23.020 below $50 a

00:27:24.540 barrel, and

00:27:25.760 the IPO, which

00:27:27.000 they expected

00:27:27.820 to raise nearly

00:27:28.680 $2 trillion,

00:27:30.140 was failing to

00:27:31.640 receive any

00:27:32.360 bids to

00:27:33.460 raise even

00:27:34.080 $50 billion.

00:27:35.280 there was

00:27:37.160 one journalist

00:27:38.060 who was out

00:27:39.140 there saying

00:27:40.380 this is crazy.

00:27:42.500 His plan, the

00:27:44.000 plan that the

00:27:44.860 crown prince was

00:27:46.020 pushing was

00:27:47.000 Vision 2030

00:27:49.640 for Saudi

00:27:50.680 Arabia.

00:27:51.960 The guy who

00:27:53.240 was the most

00:27:53.780 outspoken about

00:27:55.280 what he was

00:27:55.980 doing with this

00:27:56.740 IPO and

00:27:57.700 Aramco was

00:28:00.220 Jamal Khashoggi,

00:28:01.840 the guy who

00:28:03.280 was murdered in

00:28:04.340 Turkey.

00:28:07.140 As soon as he

00:28:08.360 was murdered, the 0.75

00:28:09.320 IPO was shelved

00:28:11.040 because now

00:28:11.800 nobody wanted to

00:28:12.740 buy anything from

00:28:13.720 Aramco.

00:28:14.960 So fast forward

00:28:15.900 earlier to this

00:28:17.080 year.

00:28:18.260 Saudi Arabia and

00:28:19.200 other OPEC

00:28:19.820 nations announced

00:28:20.540 to cut back oil

00:28:21.580 production as a

00:28:22.320 means to raise

00:28:23.060 global prices, and

00:28:24.240 by summer, they

00:28:25.000 had succeeded in

00:28:25.820 getting oil prices

00:28:26.660 up to around $65

00:28:27.900 a barrel.

00:28:29.140 But we came in

00:28:31.280 and quickly came

00:28:32.340 online and

00:28:33.080 increased global

00:28:33.860 supply to make

00:28:35.660 up for the

00:28:36.220 reduced OPEC

00:28:37.080 production.

00:28:37.740 We couldn't do

00:28:38.520 that before, and

00:28:39.480 by August, oil

00:28:41.100 prices were back

00:28:42.340 to $55 to $58

00:28:44.220 a barrel.

00:28:46.300 Remember, Saudi 1.00

00:28:48.380 oil has got to

00:28:49.980 be about $80 a

00:28:51.580 barrel, or they

00:28:52.440 can't afford it.

00:28:55.020 So what happened

00:28:56.120 three weeks ago?

00:28:57.780 And then, what

00:28:59.760 happened over the

00:29:00.460 weekend?

00:29:00.860 And what does

00:29:02.620 all of this

00:29:03.320 mean for us

00:29:04.480 in the United

00:29:05.120 States in the

00:29:06.200 future?

00:29:07.800 We'll continue

00:29:08.540 in one minute.

00:29:12.240 This is the

00:29:13.300 best of the

00:29:13.820 Glenn Beck

00:29:14.220 program.

00:29:14.780 Hey, it's Glenn, and

00:29:26.640 if you like what

00:29:27.080 you hear on the

00:29:27.540 program, you

00:29:28.160 should check out

00:29:28.820 Pat Gray

00:29:29.560 Unleashed.

00:29:30.660 His podcast is

00:29:31.580 available wherever

00:29:32.260 you download your

00:29:33.280 favorite podcast.

00:29:34.560 You know, I'm so

00:29:35.180 tired of listening

00:29:37.760 to people who say

00:29:39.420 they're here to help

00:29:40.460 and they're going to

00:29:41.000 fix things when

00:29:41.820 they're not doing

00:29:42.980 anything to actually

00:29:44.080 get down to fixing

00:29:45.300 things.

00:29:45.840 I know I could get

00:29:46.840 together with, you

00:29:48.440 know, 10 different

00:29:49.120 people who are

00:29:50.140 farmers, most likely,

00:29:51.540 and we could fix a

00:29:52.720 lot of what is wrong

00:29:53.520 with America quickly

00:29:55.660 because all it would

00:29:56.940 take is common sense

00:29:57.960 and people just really

00:29:59.100 trying to fix it, not

00:30:00.440 doing special interest

00:30:01.480 anything, just how can

00:30:03.420 we make this better?

00:30:05.200 The price we pay, what

00:30:07.100 broke American health

00:30:08.120 care and how to fix

00:30:09.160 it, is a new book

00:30:11.440 out and we have

00:30:12.700 Marty McCary, he is

00:30:15.100 a doctor, who's done

00:30:17.000 a lot of stuff.

00:30:17.840 He's written this and

00:30:20.260 we wanted to have him

00:30:21.140 on because the

00:30:22.180 Republicans don't seem

00:30:23.840 to have any idea or

00:30:26.300 any intention of

00:30:27.620 fixing health care.

00:30:29.700 Maybe they should,

00:30:30.720 maybe they should pay

00:30:31.520 attention just for a

00:30:32.840 few minutes here.

00:30:33.820 The price we pay is

00:30:34.820 the book and Marty is

00:30:37.380 with us.

00:30:37.720 Hi, Marty.

00:30:38.100 How are you?

00:30:38.480 Hey, Glenn.

00:30:39.540 Great to be with you.

00:30:40.400 Thank you very much.

00:30:41.680 I'm fascinated by the

00:30:43.680 stories in your book.

00:30:46.780 Let me, there's one in

00:30:48.020 the middle here.

00:30:48.600 Let me grab this one.

00:30:50.800 People living in rural 0.93

00:30:51.960 states are getting hit

00:30:53.300 the hardest.

00:30:54.120 Sitting at home in

00:30:55.020 Montana, John felt a

00:30:56.140 stomach cramp one day.

00:30:57.440 It was a little worse

00:30:58.180 than the belly ache of

00:30:59.760 everyday life.

00:31:00.700 At his local hospital,

00:31:01.640 the doctors told him

00:31:02.400 this could be serious.

00:31:03.460 We're going to transfer

00:31:04.040 you to the big city

00:31:04.800 where they'll take care

00:31:05.540 of you.

00:31:06.320 Eight hours later,

00:31:07.220 afraid that no other

00:31:08.460 options explained to him.

00:31:10.540 He was wheeled off an

00:31:11.520 elevator and the nurse

00:31:12.360 hit the H button for

00:31:13.620 helipad.

00:31:14.360 The helicopter pilot was

00:31:15.700 there, greeted him.

00:31:16.800 He was loaded on a

00:31:17.620 chopper for a 30 minute

00:31:18.520 ride to the city.

00:31:19.960 He arrived at the

00:31:20.840 hospital, peppered with

00:31:21.780 medical questions assigned

00:31:22.880 to wait in an emergency

00:31:23.700 room.

00:31:24.200 Beds were full.

00:31:24.880 They placed him on a

00:31:25.540 stretcher in a hall.

00:31:26.720 He waited several more

00:31:27.600 hours until the hospital's

00:31:28.760 on-call specialists saw him.

00:31:30.400 He repeated the battery

00:31:31.240 of tests and hours later

00:31:32.360 explained that John had no

00:31:33.800 real reason to be in the

00:31:34.740 hospital and he could go

00:31:35.740 home.

00:31:36.920 He was then presented

00:31:38.420 with a bill of $60,000

00:31:41.380 just for the helicopter.

00:31:44.420 And that's when he reached

00:31:46.000 out to you.

00:31:47.320 Tell me what happened,

00:31:48.360 Marty.

00:31:49.180 Well, what bothers me

00:31:51.260 about these money games,

00:31:52.880 Glenn, is that they are

00:31:54.060 taking advantage of people

00:31:55.320 at a time when they're

00:31:56.000 most vulnerable.

00:31:56.840 We've lost our mission.

00:31:58.080 You know, I took on that

00:31:59.120 case and I've been

00:32:00.300 defending cases on behalf

00:32:01.800 of patients around the

00:32:02.880 country, patients who have

00:32:04.580 been sued to have their

00:32:06.080 paychecks garnished.

00:32:07.640 I mean, everyday

00:32:08.700 hardworking Americans

00:32:10.000 who already spend a

00:32:11.580 boatload between their

00:32:13.400 taxes at good health care

00:32:14.780 and their health insurance

00:32:15.800 and they work, they've

00:32:16.700 done nothing wrong and

00:32:18.240 now they're getting

00:32:18.840 assaulted with these bills

00:32:20.720 and hospitals are

00:32:22.380 terrorizing their

00:32:23.320 communities with price

00:32:24.740 gouging.

00:32:25.640 These money games now

00:32:27.320 threaten the great public

00:32:29.300 trust of American

00:32:31.320 medicine and most

00:32:32.740 hospitals were built by

00:32:33.920 churches.

00:32:34.720 People forget that.

00:32:36.040 They were there for

00:32:36.780 their communities and

00:32:38.160 as a doctor, I just,

00:32:39.500 this has gone too far.

00:32:40.880 And you talk about a

00:32:42.080 guy who came from

00:32:43.640 France.

00:32:44.400 He was here, had a

00:32:45.700 mild heart attack.

00:32:47.000 The American hospital

00:32:47.920 told him it would cost

00:32:48.840 him about $150,000.

00:32:50.880 They said, we're going

00:32:51.740 to call our doctor in

00:32:52.640 France.

00:32:53.180 They asked, how much

00:32:54.160 is this in France?

00:32:54.980 They said $15,000.

00:32:56.760 When they told the

00:32:57.660 American hospital that,

00:32:58.960 the American hospital

00:32:59.680 said, oh, well, we can do

00:33:00.860 it for $25,000.

00:33:02.340 And it was, it so

00:33:04.460 bothered them that

00:33:06.720 the, that they were

00:33:07.800 being ripped off, you 0.60

00:33:09.320 know, that they would be

00:33:10.220 quoted something, $150,000

00:33:12.020 that they said, we're

00:33:13.480 going to go to France.

00:33:15.300 Why is this happening,

00:33:17.220 Marty?

00:33:18.360 Well, because we have no

00:33:19.800 price transparency.

00:33:20.860 We don't have real

00:33:21.800 markets in America in

00:33:23.720 health care.

00:33:24.680 I mean, if airlines build

00:33:26.040 us, Glenn, after the

00:33:27.540 flight, can you imagine

00:33:28.400 that?

00:33:29.000 They'd be gouging us,

00:33:30.160 right?

00:33:30.680 If you went to Expedia

00:33:32.020 or Travelocity or these

00:33:33.220 sites and there were no

00:33:34.660 prices with flights, guess

00:33:36.540 what they would do?

00:33:37.180 They would gouge us.

00:33:38.400 They might argue they can't

00:33:39.680 predict a price because they

00:33:40.680 don't know if we're going to

00:33:41.480 consume a beverage or the

00:33:43.440 flight could be delayed.

00:33:45.080 And, you know, for 50 years,

00:33:46.440 hospitals have been telling us

00:33:47.700 they can't give us a price.

00:33:49.460 And we need to demand more

00:33:51.040 transparency.

00:33:52.080 So I can't show up and mow

00:33:54.240 your lawn and then send you a

00:33:55.580 bill for $4,000.

00:33:56.960 Yeah, I don't understand.

00:33:58.320 I don't understand.

00:33:59.740 And I think it's just because

00:34:00.980 of the health care industry

00:34:02.520 itself.

00:34:03.340 I'm sorry, the insurance

00:34:05.020 industry where we haven't been

00:34:08.240 required to shop around.

00:34:09.940 But I don't know why I can't go

00:34:11.620 in and say, hey, I have to have

00:34:13.680 the tonsils removed.

00:34:14.940 How much is that?

00:34:16.140 Assuming things are normal.

00:34:17.740 How much is that?

00:34:19.320 And I want to go check another

00:34:20.740 hospital and find out how much

00:34:22.100 it is over there.

00:34:22.960 It's ironic that American 1.00

00:34:25.300 University hospitals, like the

00:34:26.920 one I work at, Johns Hopkins,

00:34:28.940 it is the center of scientific

00:34:30.780 genius in America.

00:34:32.320 But we can't give you a price.

00:34:34.140 And that is starting to change.

00:34:35.960 I want to let people know there

00:34:37.300 are bright spots.

00:34:38.180 And I highlight the disruptors in

00:34:40.000 this new book.

00:34:41.120 People like Dr.

00:34:42.480 Smith at the Surgery Center of

00:34:43.820 Oklahoma posting a menu of

00:34:45.520 prices.

00:34:46.500 We've already seen three little

00:34:47.920 areas of health care move to

00:34:49.240 transparent pricing.

00:34:50.840 And that's IVF therapy.

00:34:52.300 It's LASIK surgery of the eye.

00:34:54.860 And it's some types of

00:34:56.140 cosmetic surgery.

00:34:57.220 Guess what?

00:34:57.920 All of those procedures have had

00:34:59.780 a global reduction in prices

00:35:01.500 over time in competitive markets.

00:35:05.420 LASIK surgery is the

00:35:07.860 quintessential example.

00:35:10.560 They're operating on your eye.

00:35:13.720 And because it is private,

00:35:16.680 the price keeps going down when

00:35:18.780 everything else is going up.

00:35:20.500 Is there any other reason

00:35:22.060 other than this is just the

00:35:23.620 market?

00:35:24.620 Well, the politicians, and we're

00:35:26.540 watching it right now with these

00:35:27.940 Democrat candidates running, but

00:35:29.500 you know, it's all politicians.

00:35:30.560 They talk really about how to

00:35:32.380 finance our broken health care

00:35:34.560 system.

00:35:35.340 We need to talk about how to fix

00:35:37.440 it.

00:35:37.780 And the story that no one is

00:35:39.960 talking about that we need to

00:35:41.800 talk about is pricing failures,

00:35:44.980 middlemen, and inappropriate care. 0.94

00:35:47.160 And if we talk about those things,

00:35:49.520 Glenn, I bet you there is broad

00:35:51.400 consensus in the United States,

00:35:53.520 contrary to what cable news would

00:35:55.040 give us as a false paradigm.

00:35:57.540 We don't need to just talk about

00:35:59.000 how to finance the broken system.

00:36:00.540 We need to talk about how to fix it.

00:36:02.400 Okay, so tell me about prescription

00:36:04.580 drugs, because prescription drugs is

00:36:06.560 something that, you know, everyone

00:36:08.420 will say, and even, you know,

00:36:10.980 they'll say that, you know, we're

00:36:13.300 paying too much.

00:36:14.320 The same people who say the wealthy

00:36:15.880 should pay the lion's share of

00:36:18.020 things have a problem that the

00:36:19.720 wealthiest country on Earth pays

00:36:22.160 more than the rest of the world.

00:36:24.120 Insurance companies will say we

00:36:25.660 won't be able to, you know, come up

00:36:27.920 with these drugs if America isn't

00:36:30.900 paying higher prices.

00:36:32.440 True?

00:36:33.080 False?

00:36:33.440 What's the story on that?

00:36:35.600 Well, just like the movie The Big

00:36:38.180 Short took a very complicated

00:36:39.700 industry and broke it down in very

00:36:41.980 simple terms so anybody can

00:36:43.540 understand it.

00:36:44.620 That's what I try to do with the

00:36:46.640 middlemen of the pharmacy world.

00:36:48.660 For example, PBMs are pharmacy

00:36:50.720 benefit managers.

00:36:53.140 They're middlemen. 1.00

00:36:54.280 And they put a gun to the head of 0.70

00:36:56.280 pharma and they say, look, if you

00:36:58.200 want us to carry your drug, pay us a

00:37:00.320 play-to-play fee.

00:37:02.460 And those fees or kickbacks are

00:37:05.260 called rebates.

00:37:06.560 Now, these are not like rebates on

00:37:07.960 cornflakes.

00:37:09.080 These are middle money games.

00:37:11.200 And employers can actually choose a

00:37:13.560 PBM that will not play the rebate

00:37:15.960 game.

00:37:16.560 And businesses across America are

00:37:18.100 getting ripped off on their PBMs.

00:37:19.980 Every business has a PBM for their

00:37:22.780 employees and they're getting ripped

00:37:24.820 off.

00:37:25.280 And I show how businesses can

00:37:26.620 renegotiate these PBMs because the

00:37:28.580 money games are out of control.

00:37:30.000 Wait, so how are they getting ripped

00:37:31.080 off?

00:37:31.880 So a broker will typically sell a

00:37:34.880 pharmacy plan or a PBM plan to a

00:37:37.480 business, just like they sell health

00:37:39.160 insurance to a business.

00:37:40.760 Those brokers get 5% flat commission

00:37:43.420 and kickbacks, some of which are

00:37:45.400 undisclosed.

00:37:46.300 And then they're selling these

00:37:47.380 products that price gouge the

00:37:48.760 employers because the PBMs are

00:37:51.020 charging the employer and the

00:37:53.260 employee through a copay for the

00:37:54.920 drug.

00:37:55.680 Well, the employers aren't keeping

00:37:56.900 track.

00:37:57.380 They don't know the names and doses

00:37:58.680 of these drugs.

00:37:59.860 So the employers get gouged.

00:38:02.020 And that is the game of the PBMs.

00:38:04.320 We're the only country in the world

00:38:05.560 that has PBMs.

00:38:07.060 We didn't have them 30 years ago.

00:38:08.560 That's why you're seeing insulin

00:38:10.260 spike in price.

00:38:12.220 And drugs that have been around for

00:38:13.540 50 years are now suddenly expensive

00:38:16.620 and sometimes in shortage because

00:38:18.680 we've given market dominance through

00:38:21.260 these pay-to-play kickbacks.

00:38:22.940 So what should Washington be doing?

00:38:27.440 Well, we saw Secretary Azar and the

00:38:31.000 current administration propose that

00:38:32.940 all these rebates or kickbacks have to

00:38:35.160 be passed through 100% to the patient.

00:38:38.040 The swamp of the special interests

00:38:39.740 crushed that proposal.

00:38:42.140 It got no support on Capitol Hill.

00:38:45.640 And I think people need to hear from

00:38:47.700 everyday listeners out there.

00:38:49.300 The members of Congress are hearing

00:38:52.080 from all the stakeholders in health

00:38:53.780 care who are all, trust me, making a

00:38:56.060 ton of money except for one, the

00:38:58.960 patient.

00:38:59.860 So we need to ban kickbacks in

00:39:01.960 health care.

00:39:02.660 We need to get rid of secrecy.

00:39:04.360 And I think it's that simple.

00:39:05.680 It's like a pothole.

00:39:06.760 It's not a blue, red, Democrat,

00:39:10.380 Republican issue.

00:39:11.760 When there's a pothole, it's a matter

00:39:13.440 of competence.

00:39:14.760 It's a matter of understanding how

00:39:16.540 things work.

00:39:17.980 And I think there's broad consensus.

00:39:19.820 How much worse are things going to be

00:39:22.580 if we go to some universal system?

00:39:26.200 Well, we have a new study out today,

00:39:28.180 Glenn, that is published in, I wrote a

00:39:30.560 piece in USA Today showing that our new

00:39:33.260 study from Johns Hopkins shows that we

00:39:35.720 spend on a federal level of all federal

00:39:39.180 spending in the United States by the

00:39:41.000 federal government.

00:39:41.660 48% of all spending is going to health

00:39:45.600 care right now in all of its hidden

00:39:47.900 forms.

00:39:49.420 Okay, it's crazy.

00:39:50.680 Think about that next time you filed your

00:39:52.880 taxes.

00:39:54.300 And so what is this Medicare for all?

00:39:57.480 What are these people proposing we

00:39:59.640 increase that to?

00:40:01.100 70?

00:40:02.100 90%?

00:40:03.480 People forget.

00:40:04.320 It's not just our federal spending on

00:40:06.140 Medicare and Medicaid.

00:40:06.920 It's people are using their Social

00:40:10.280 Security checks now for their Medicare

00:40:12.240 co-pays.

00:40:13.340 We have a giant VA health system.

00:40:15.260 The Defense Department has a health

00:40:17.300 care system.

00:40:18.380 And we pay health insurance benefits for

00:40:21.260 9 million federal workers and their

00:40:23.060 families and retirees.

00:40:25.180 And interest on the debt is in part

00:40:26.960 interest on the health care spending

00:40:28.600 debt.

00:40:29.480 So half of our federal spending right now

00:40:32.160 is going to health care.

00:40:33.560 We don't need to just pour more money

00:40:35.680 into this.

00:40:36.360 We need to cut the waste.

00:40:38.620 Look, we all want health care for

00:40:40.440 everybody in America.

00:40:41.540 Who doesn't want that? 0.53

00:40:43.000 But pouring more money into this broken

00:40:45.400 system is not going to get us there.

00:40:47.420 We already spend enough money to give

00:40:49.680 everybody gold-plated health care.

00:40:51.500 We just need to cut the waste.

00:40:55.720 Doctor, I appreciate the conversation,

00:40:58.260 and I really appreciate the book.

00:40:59.560 It's really easy to read.

00:41:00.920 It makes it very relatable because we

00:41:04.700 all have either been through these

00:41:06.280 stories or know somebody who has.

00:41:10.280 And I appreciate the way you're looking

00:41:12.160 at this.

00:41:13.180 The name of the book is The Price We Pay,

00:41:16.240 What Broke American Health Care and

00:41:18.540 How to Fix It.

00:41:19.780 You might want to send it to your favorite

00:41:22.080 congressman, senator, or presidential

00:41:24.820 candidate.

00:41:25.780 Thanks so much, Doc.

00:41:26.580 Appreciate it.

00:41:27.060 The Blaze Radio Network.

00:41:31.780 On demand.
