The bloodsuckers are back, and they re all in Congress voting for impeachment. Today s podcast covers that and so much more for Halloween. Glenn Beck (00:00) (03:30)
00:00:24.980You're listening to the best of the Glenn Beck program.
00:00:30.000I'm just reading some of the tweets and email that came in after the special last night.
00:00:39.220Nice job, Glenn. Always sowing more division and hate.
00:00:42.760I can hardly stand to be around some old people anymore because they don't believe in science, economics, basic decency due to your garbage.
00:00:51.580Or this one. This is vile, Glenn, attacking a private citizen to hold water for criminals.
00:00:57.340Your logic is broken in general. You're so bad for America.
00:01:01.200You spread so much disinformation as any bad actor.
00:01:05.480The media is responsible for Trump trying to bribe Ukraine.
00:01:53.960So I'm looking through, and I saw some of these reported, but looking through the real key takeaways from your study,
00:02:02.500capitalism still favored more favorably than any other economic system.
00:02:07.240It's steady. It's 61 percent from last year.
00:02:11.520However, the favorability of capitalism is lower amongst Generation Z and millennials, around 50 percent.
00:02:18.240Communism is viewed favorably by more than one in three millennials, up eight points.
00:02:27.860Fifteen percent of millennials think the world would be better off if the Soviet Union still existed.
00:02:33.800Seventy-two percent of Americans incorrectly say that communism has killed less than 100 million people in the past 100 years.
00:02:40.340A majority of Americans aged 35 and under trust themselves more than the community or the government.
00:02:46.980That doesn't make sense with the rest, does it, Marion?
00:02:49.920Well, it would seem that the basic instinct that you would trust yourself, obviously, to look after your interest as opposed to the government.
00:03:00.920It sounds like that's a pretty sound statistic there.
00:03:03.920But you're right. It doesn't quite jive with the other findings of this poll.
00:03:10.460The one in three millennials having a favorable attitudes towards communism.
00:03:15.900That's a real jump from last year and, of course, very concerning.
00:03:20.260But I think very concerning as well when asked, you know, about voting.
00:03:29.420Seventy percent of millennials said that they would be likely or extremely likely to vote for a socialist.
00:03:36.940And the number of extremely likelies, you know, doubled from last year.
00:03:42.500So and the other finding, I think, is significant to help explain all this is that 66 percent of Americans cannot accurately define Marxism, socialism or communism.
00:03:55.080And so they don't think of it as the public ownership of the means of production.
00:03:59.920They don't think of it as the collectivist system that it actually is intellectually and historically.
00:04:05.580Instead, they've been led to believe like individuals such as Bernie Sanders, you know, various academics that have presented socialism as more or less the kind of high tax welfare states of Scandinavia.
00:04:23.240Whereas, you know, as well as I do, those those are not socialist systems.
00:04:27.780Those are market economies, democracies that for many years tried to deliver a high tax welfare state.
00:04:37.240And in recent years, they've actually pulled back on that and implemented more free enterprise policies.
00:04:42.220So I think it's false advertising in America's political discourse, at least since 2016.
00:04:48.260OK, so tell me this, though, now that that kind of explains socialism because it's it's you know,
00:04:53.040it's it's become popular and people think that it's Sweden.
00:04:55.680But how do you explain up eight points from 2018?
00:05:02.560Thirty six percent of millennials say communism is good, right?
00:05:08.900It's concerning. And, you know, Glenn, we're seeing groups around the country organized and funded and active at the local level,
00:05:20.520calling themselves Marxist, some of them saying they subscribe to to Maoist ideology.
00:05:30.040There's a group called the Workers Education Society that became very active in St.
00:05:35.280Louis a few years ago and successfully got some of their members elected to senior post locally and in some of the top posts of the Democratic Party there.
00:05:46.840And we had, you know, patriotic Americans, Democrats in St.
00:05:51.860Louis, which is overwhelmingly a Democratic town.
00:05:54.400And they contacted us alarmed at this development.
00:05:58.420And in response, we went down on fact finding missions.
00:06:02.040And this month, we actually opened a local victims of communism commission there in St.
00:06:08.480Louis to combat some of these efforts.
00:06:13.480We've organized various events for the for the local community.
00:06:17.300And so, you know, I have to say that what's reflected in this poll in terms of the normalizing of very violent ideologies, such as communism, in this case, that's reflected on on the streets of American cities.
00:06:30.560So so so help me out with this, Marion.
00:06:33.920I know that you guys you you do studies like this.
00:06:37.580You're you're constantly watching for communism and these and socialism and these kinds of movements that spring up and kill hundreds of millions of people.
00:07:11.820So, you know, we are we are trying to be true to our mission, which is to educate Americans about the ideology, the history and the legacy of communism.
00:07:20.900And our congressional mandate from 1993, even though we're a nonprofit, we do have that congressional mandate, you know, a few years after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
00:07:31.020It was a bipartisan issue that we should learn the lessons of the Cold War.
00:07:35.700So that passed unanimously in Congress in 93.
00:07:38.900But it's also to memorialize the victims.
00:07:41.820But, you know, we couldn't take our mission seriously if we weren't active and trying to make sure that there are no more victims of communism.
00:07:49.080Um, domestically, that means alerting the American public so that they understand what's happened in Venezuela recently.
00:07:56.500And these failed ideologies of the last century, you know, have no place in American politics.
00:08:01.920But it also means supporting, giving a voice platform to dissidents in Venezuela and Cuba and Korea, China.
00:08:09.780So we're active on Hong Kong protests, pro-democracy protests.
00:08:18.400So we try to do everything we can to to make sure that this century doesn't, you know, come to be defined by this struggle between communist imperialism and and and the free world that that defines so much of the last century.
00:08:35.440You know, I, Mary and I, when I saw the NFL and what they did in China, and I think this is going to happen with Google and Facebook.
00:08:42.860I think they're going to look, be looked upon like IBM was with the Nazis as collaborators.
