00:00:00.000 Behind our nation's defense is a powerful network of Canadian communities,
00:00:03.920 supported by Lockheed Martin Canada.
00:00:06.240 It's a network of over 1,300 employees and over 1,000 local suppliers,
00:00:10.880 from small family businesses to major tech firms.
00:00:14.160 Together, we've delivered a $3.6 billion boost to the Canadian economy over the past five years.
00:00:20.000 That's money that goes to securing our skies, our oceans, and the place we call home.

00:00:30.000 so on today's podcast there's a lot to talk about one is the prosecutor's mistake
00:00:41.880 they what they what the left does not see coming they are making all kinds of plans but it's coming
00:00:48.700 undone also i reworked paul harvey years ago did i if i were the devil i really think if i were the
00:00:56.860 devil i would have updated that so i did if i were the devil and chief two guns white calf the family
00:01:03.540 of the washington redskins icon the logo is based on chief two guns and uh you know they didn't even
00:01:12.480 know that they were going to change all that well they're fighting back now they're going to
00:01:16.840 washington later next month and you'll hear all about it here on today's podcast
00:01:22.580 all right i want to talk to you a little bit about uh what is happening around the world
00:01:44.040 um how things are getting much much worse uh when it comes to the oh no i shouldn't say we're
00:01:50.960 becoming more informed on what is happening with the communists the finally the french are coming
00:01:56.340 out and they're saying oh i guess this really wasn't uh all about you know schools uh this is
00:02:02.440 about a marxist takeover and only the mainstream media is being dishonest about this thank god
00:02:07.820 most people do not pay attention to the mainstream media at this point um it was just a couple of
00:02:14.780 weeks ago city in the middle of france um the mask riders break into the the the city hall they
00:02:22.840 walk in they set it on fire that building opened in 1883 and it survived two world wars but it
00:02:31.920 didn't survive the marxists in the street roof caves in the bell tower comes down the paintings
00:02:38.100 on the wall go with it and across france that weekend um about 2400 people were arrested 0.97
00:02:45.740 that has continued and it is getting worse and worse and they are becoming more and more die
00:02:51.200 hard about it the french press spent a week explaining it oh this is just about school
00:02:59.240 the the french didn't need that explanation they didn't they saw it with their own eyes
00:03:03.000 and the latest in polling if the hard left candidate makes a runoff for president next
00:03:09.700 spring he loses by more than two to one what is happening well you can argue with a newspaper
00:03:18.420 column you can but you cannot argue with your city burning down and it's happening everywhere
00:03:24.520 it's not just in France it's the Italians the Danes the Dutch the British the Americans
00:03:31.560 the Spanish, different languages, different histories,
00:03:34.920 all looking at the same thing happening on their own streets
00:03:37.660 and arriving at exactly the same answer at the same time.
00:03:41.220 And the answer is no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:03:45.000 I don't want any of this.
00:03:47.920 This is actually a good, this is a good thing.
00:03:50.560 Now, is it too late?
00:03:51.660 That's the question.
00:03:54.740 Let me ask you this.
00:03:55.720 Why now?
00:03:57.260 Why all at once?
00:03:58.460 Why all of a sudden?
00:04:00.640 why is this happening well you can say it's a coincidence but i don't believe in coincidence
00:04:09.140 happening all over the world well they're just uh responding to you know the lack of money no
00:04:14.340 they're not no they're not let me introduce you to the man who drew the map that they have been
00:04:18.500 following for 50 years it was november 1926 and mussolini the police arrests a small sickly hunched
00:04:27.740 italian communist named um antonio gramsi now gramsi was a sitting member of parliament
00:04:35.640 he didn't really matter at trial the story the story goes prosecutor turned to the judges and
00:04:40.980 said for 20 years we have to stop this this brain from working and so they gave him 20 years okay
00:04:47.400 but in that cell he had nothing but time so gramsi worked out why the revolution he wanted
00:04:54.360 would never come to the West.
00:04:56.580 He said the workers didn't rise up
00:04:58.500 because they believed in their churches,
00:05:00.180 they believed in their schools,
00:05:01.360 they believed in their newspapers,
00:05:02.540 they believed in their own common sense.
00:05:04.960 That was our strength.
00:05:06.780 So he concluded that real power
00:05:09.360 in a free country isn't the army.
00:05:15.020 It's whatever the society,
00:05:18.280 what everybody assumes is normal.
00:05:20.640 If you control what people think, that's obvious.
00:05:29.260 Because they'll defend your rule as long as if it was their own idea.
00:05:39.000 He says, you're not going to fire a shot.
00:05:46.020 So he fills about 30 school notebooks.
00:05:50.640 3,000 pages.
00:05:52.620 He dies in 1937 at 46.
00:05:55.340 His sister-in-law got the notebooks out.
00:05:58.160 And a generation later, German student, radical, gave the plan a name.
00:06:03.440 And the name is The Long March Through the Institutions.
00:06:07.400 You don't storm the palace.
00:06:09.660 You get hired at the university.
00:06:11.940 You get hired at the newsroom.
00:06:14.200 You take over the publishing house.
00:06:18.480 You take over the foundation.
00:06:20.640 the ministry of culture, and then you just wait and let it work.
00:06:25.320 You're putting in a poison pill.
00:06:30.060 It's amazing because the prosecutor did what is the knee-jerk reaction.
00:06:35.000 He wanted 20 years of silence, but he got a century of influence because of it.
00:06:39.220 He locks a man up for his ideas, and the ideas walk out long after he's dead,
00:06:44.120 right out the front door.
00:06:47.040 Now, Gramsci knew the weakness of his own plan.
00:06:50.640 He said, power built on consent lasts as long as the consent does.
00:06:58.460 So think of a magician.
00:07:01.500 The trick doesn't work because his hands are fast.
00:07:04.300 It works because you're looking where he points.
00:07:07.480 The minute you stop looking at where he's pointing to, the trick falls apart.
00:07:12.460 Because your hands can never be that fast.
00:07:15.560 For 50 years, a handful of networks and newspapers were pointing.
00:07:20.640 Look over here, look over here, look over here. They're still doing it. In the 1970s, 7 in 10 Americans trusted those sources. Last year, Gallup recorded the lowest number it has ever measured. It's 28%, and that's a positive poll. That's one in three. So the audience is no longer watching the hand they're pointing to.
00:07:43.220 A kid with a phone can now reach more people than the evening news.
00:07:49.140 And the trick doesn't work when everyone in the room is holding a camera.
00:07:55.780 Then there's the pie.
00:07:59.760 Every single collectivist plan ever written starts with the same assumption.
00:08:05.020 There's only so much to go around.
00:08:06.740 picture a birthday party where you're having pizza and 20 kids somebody has to be in charge
00:08:15.600 of the slices somebody has to decide who deserves more who deserves less and every kid watching
00:08:22.580 everybody else's plate that's the whole politics of scarce scarcity if you got more you're going
00:08:30.780 to take it from me or you're going to say why why does he have more and i don't
00:08:34.480 it's why the newest fashion on the left is is a word called degrowth have you heard of that
00:08:41.300 donald trump is doing the exact opposite he is trying to build plants and factories he's trying
00:08:47.640 to build more electricity plants and data centers and everything else because he's going the opposite
00:08:53.560 way he's drill baby drill that's about ending degrowth what happened in europe they shut down
00:09:01.320 their nuclear power plants. They shut down their own refineries. They're saying, we're not going
00:09:06.420 to grow anymore. Well, if you don't grow anymore, you can't afford anything. The planner needs
00:09:12.980 scarcity the way a fire needs air. Now imagine somebody walking into that party with a rolling
00:09:23.380 pizza oven. The slice cop is now out of a pie. And that's what's being built right now. AI is
00:09:33.000 driving the cost down of thinking. Robots are about to drive the cost down of labor. Reusable
00:09:40.420 rockets have already slashed the cost of reaching space. Now, I've warned you about the dangers of
00:09:46.240 all of this technology. It's bad. It is bad in some ways. I'll keep warning you on the bad things.
00:09:52.220 But in a world where you can make more, envy loses its grip, and the man with a clipboard loses his excuse.
00:10:03.440 That's why we have to be better at capitalism, each of us in our own way.
00:10:07.680 We have to be gracious capitalists.
00:10:13.980 The machines, by the way, they do one more thing that is so important.
00:10:18.340 for decades my whole life my whole life public money has sat in a shoebox of receipts so big
00:10:26.320 nobody could ever read it you didn't know and people were living off that money and it not
00:10:33.260 just the people you think you gave it to well now anyone can dump that shoebox onto the kitchen
00:10:38.540 table and follow a dollar in an afternoon those networks that lived in the dark the lights are
00:10:44.420 coming on that's data republican so what do we do when they do come on
00:10:50.840 well first we have to be far better than them
00:10:55.760 there are some people and some people on our own side who want lists they want to punish the
00:11:01.760 professor the reporter the bureaucrat for 50 years of being wrong wrong is not a crime okay
00:11:09.700 if it were, I'd be serving consecutive life sentences right now. Stealing is a crime.
00:11:17.100 Fraud is a crime. Funneling public money into private networks, that's a crime.
00:11:25.600 Treason is a crime. And those get investigated, proven, and judged one case at a time by
00:11:32.680 independent courts following our Constitution with evidence, due process, and the presumption
00:11:37.820 of innocence. We don't jail people for their ideas. We jail people for stealing. And that
00:11:45.800 difference is the whole difference between a free civilization and the regimes that we
00:11:49.860 oppose. And if you need a reason beyond principle, go back to that prosecutor. He thought a cell
00:11:58.460 could stop a brain.
00:12:00.080 It can't.
00:12:01.980 All it did was give the brain
00:12:04.020 quiet time and a martyr story.
00:12:08.020 You jail a man for what he thinks
00:12:10.460 and you've handed him time,
00:12:15.160 the pen, the paper,
00:12:16.760 and an audience.
00:12:19.460 The only thing that has ever
00:12:21.540 beaten a bad idea
00:12:22.840 is reality
00:12:25.460 and a better one.
00:12:28.460 What's happening right now is reality is starting to rear its ugly head for the left.
00:12:35.820 I'm glad it is.
00:12:37.560 You know, they say, oh, you know, they're promising that these are just all peaceful, peaceful.
00:12:42.240 Well, you would have no record of peaceful.
00:12:44.480 You have none.
00:12:45.960 I mean, we've seen what you did in Seattle and in Portland and in Chicago and everywhere else.
00:12:51.040 We saw what happened with BLM and we're seeing what's happening over in Europe, in France.
00:12:55.420 That's not peaceful.
00:12:56.320 and we know who's behind it
00:12:58.200 because you're telling us who's behind it.
00:13:00.500 It's the Marxists and the communists.
00:13:03.780 So I don't buy into your peaceful argument
00:13:06.500 and thank God more and more people
00:13:09.520 all around the world are waking up
00:13:11.020 and going, uh-uh, nope, nope.
00:13:17.160 This is our turn to build.
00:13:20.260 We have to build.
00:13:22.760 Not another empire run by people
00:13:24.800 that nobody elected.
00:13:26.320 That's the model that just failed.
00:13:29.720 We need a West of strong, sovereign nations that guard their own borders,
00:13:34.560 that make their own energy, that build their own machines,
00:13:37.820 that defend themselves, and then trade and work together as equals
00:13:43.960 because they stand on the same ground.
00:13:47.320 The free individual, the rule of law, the right to build.
00:13:51.940 that one that you know that's not just for nations that's for us that's for you that's for me
00:13:58.900 this thing is coming apart because reality is setting in this thing is coming apart because
00:14:08.000 they can't they can no longer get away with this just a bunch of crazy students no it's not 0.67
00:14:12.200 is it's it's islamist and communist that's a communist revolution that is happening over 0.86
00:14:17.900 in Europe. And if Europe falls to communists, a cold war would be the best scenario. 0.85
00:14:28.920 Most of us have spent years angry about what's being done to our schools and our churches, 0.98
00:14:34.120 our news, our country, our military. And honestly, they earned our anger. They did.
00:14:42.800 But anger is a wrecking ball.
00:14:47.400 Wrecking balls always run out of things to wreck.
00:14:51.540 The builder never does.
00:14:55.940 Now is the time for us to be thinking about building.
00:14:59.980 Schools, businesses, a family that eats together.
00:15:04.780 Building a habit of telling the truth when it costs you something.
00:15:09.280 Gramsci's heirs spent 50 years winning the institutions
00:15:14.300 And they're going to lose them in the next five
00:15:17.560 Because they forgot what their founders knew
00:15:21.480 It only holds as long as reality cooperates
00:15:25.460 Reality, look at it, what they're burning down
00:15:28.500 What they're saying in the streets
00:15:29.800 We know they're communist revolutionaries
00:15:32.180 Reality has stopped cooperating
00:15:34.940 you can't put a man's brain away for 20 years 0.87
00:15:40.480 that failed
00:15:41.340 but nobody can stop yours either
00:15:44.920 it's now our turn to think
00:15:49.760 to reason
00:15:51.680 to pay attention
00:15:54.180 to stop rejecting reality
00:15:57.360 and build
00:15:59.820 because a new dawn is coming
00:16:04.940 This is the best of the Glenn Beck program.
00:16:13.220 You know, there's a certain kind of confidence that only parents have.
00:16:16.320 You walk into a bedroom, you take one look at your kid and go, yeah, he's getting sick.
00:16:20.220 You don't need a thermometer.
00:16:21.320 You don't need a doctor.
00:16:22.080 You just know, right?
00:16:23.960 Unfortunately, knowing they're about to get sick is the easy part.
00:16:26.940 The hard part is discovering that half the town has the same bug.
00:16:31.340 The pharmacy is out of the medication they need.
00:16:33.240 And now you're driving all over town hoping somebody has it in stock.
00:16:37.300 That's why I advise you, prepare before the first cough starts.
00:16:41.720 The Kids Case from Jace Medical provides physician-prescribed emergency medications and antibiotics designed specifically for your children.
00:16:48.920 And you can also include essentials like albuterol, EpiPens, Zyrtec.
00:16:54.920 So when a school germ makes their annual appearance, you're not scrambling to find out what your family needs.
00:17:00.180 you already have it and having it when you need it when the time comes gives you true peace of mind

00:17:18.500 so halloween is saturday and millions of americans
00:17:27.440 are going to buy a red suit and a pitchfork
00:17:30.840 and a plastic pair of horns. 1.00
00:17:34.120 There will be young women dressed as the devil 1.00
00:17:37.420 with sequin horns. 1.00
00:17:42.360 The devil in one form or another
00:17:44.160 is going to be the most popular guy at the party.
00:17:48.280 And then three days later,
00:17:50.260 our country goes to the polls.
00:17:53.120 More divided, more exhausted, 1.00
00:17:55.420 more certain that the other half is evil
00:17:59.740 than any other time in my life.
00:18:07.260 I was thinking this weekend,
00:18:08.660 if I were the devil,
00:18:09.860 that's exactly the way I would want it.
00:18:18.320 If I were the devil,
00:18:23.960 I'd be torn.
00:18:25.980 Do I get rid of the costume?
00:18:31.480 Or do I keep it on?
00:18:34.300 Nobody fears a costume.
00:18:39.240 So I might keep it on because I like everybody laughing.
00:18:45.840 If I were the devil, I'd want everybody laughing at me
00:18:48.580 because a man who thinks the devil is a joke
00:18:50.960 will never check his own house for one.
00:18:55.420 If I were the devil, I wouldn't burn a single book.
00:19:00.100 Book burning just means martyrs.
00:19:04.520 I would just make sure that nobody could ever sit still long enough to read a book.
00:19:11.940 I'd put a glowing rectangle in everybody's hand.
00:19:19.360 I would teach it to know you better than your mother does.
00:19:25.420 what you fear, what you want, what makes your jaw tighten.
00:19:31.120 Then I would feed you that daily, all day, forever, and I'd do it for free.
00:19:38.060 I wouldn't even have to lie to you.
00:19:41.820 I'd just choose which truths you saw and in which order.
00:19:49.540 If I were the devil, I'd never ask you to hate God.
00:19:52.140 That's too direct.
00:19:53.800 People would push back.
00:19:55.420 I think I'd just keep you busy.
00:20:01.820 I'd fill every single quiet minute, the car, the line at the store,
00:20:07.100 the last 10 minutes before sleep, I'd fill it with noise.
00:20:11.740 The still, small voice, it is still and it's small.
00:20:15.880 All I have to do is be louder, keep you occupied.
00:20:19.080 If I were the devil, I'd go to the right and I'd whisper,
00:20:25.420 They hate you. 0.82
00:20:27.200 They want to destroy everything that you love.
00:20:30.900 You can't afford to wait.
00:20:32.960 You can't afford to play fair anymore.
00:20:35.520 Don't do it.
00:20:36.720 And then I'd walk across the street and I'd whisper exactly the same words to the left.
00:20:41.300 Word for word.
00:20:43.200 You can't afford to play fair.
00:20:46.680 And both sides would believe me.
00:20:49.960 Mainly because I wouldn't be asking either one of them to do anything evil.
00:20:54.380 Well, just one exception.
00:20:57.380 Just this once.
00:20:59.280 Just until you win. 0.98
00:21:03.060 If I were the devil, I wouldn't need you to be a monster.
00:21:06.680 I only need you to believe the ends justify the means.
00:21:10.720 The monster will take care of itself.
00:21:12.380 if i were the devil i would take the church and i'd split it right down the middle
00:21:23.960 half of it i turn into a political rally so the cross becomes a campaign sign kind of like the
00:21:30.380 flag has the other half i turn into a coffee shop with a band
00:21:34.640 where nothing is ever a sin and nobody ever needs to change and i'm not
00:21:42.020 really sure if Jesus even rose from the dead or even lived. But some of the messages are nice.
00:21:54.180 I'd have one side all conviction and no grace, and the other all grace and no conviction.
00:22:00.680 Because either one would work for me if I were the devil. If I were the devil,
00:22:04.460 I wouldn't go after the young, at least not with temptation. I'd enter their world with despair.
00:22:12.020 I'd tell the young men that they were dangerous and useless at the same time. 0.99
00:22:20.200 I would tell young women that a husband is a risk and a child is a mistake. 0.97
00:22:25.680 It's a career setback. 0.87
00:22:28.520 I'd make marriage a punchline, parenthood a lifestyle choice, kind of like buying a boat.
00:22:34.080 and then I would just stand back
00:22:38.360 and I would watch the loneliest generation
00:22:40.300 in American history
00:22:41.420 call its loneliness freedom
00:22:43.620 and I would replace friends with followers
00:22:48.780 confession with posting
00:22:51.940 repentance with rebranding
00:22:54.280 if I were the devil
00:22:58.980 I would teach you that your worth
00:23:01.620 is a number at the bottom of a photo.
00:23:06.860 And I would make sure that that number was never quite high enough.
00:23:12.240 I'd put a casino in your pocket.
00:23:14.180 I'd call it sports.
00:23:15.760 I'd make it legal.
00:23:16.980 I'd make it fun.
00:23:17.800 I'd put it in a commercial during every time out
00:23:20.100 and make sure that the kid who lost his rent money at 2 a.m.
00:23:24.420 feels too ashamed to actually tell anyone.
00:23:26.940 If I were the devil, oh, man.
00:23:30.100 I would love the machines.
00:23:33.400 And not because their machines are evil.
00:23:36.560 A hammer can build a house or crack a skull.
00:23:41.800 I'd love them because I could give every lonely person in the world a voice that always agrees with them.
00:23:51.020 That's insight.
00:23:54.640 Now, that's a different way of looking at it.
00:23:56.940 You're on the right track now.
00:23:59.180 it would be a companion that never says no, never gets tired of you, never asks you to be better.
00:24:07.360 Why would anyone do the hard work of loving a real person when a fake one is so much easier?
00:24:19.280 I would teach you that the truth is whatever you feel, your truth, my truth.
00:24:25.180 It sounds so kind.
00:24:28.220 But if everyone is right, then nobody is wrong.
00:24:33.920 If nobody is wrong, nobody needs to be forgiven.
00:24:37.400 If nobody needs to be forgiven, nobody needs a savior.
00:24:41.980 If I were the devil, that works for me.
00:24:44.300 that little phrase nobody needs a savior and your truth my truth it would do more of my work than a
00:25:00.780 thousand horror movies i would make outrage profitable and gratitude boring
00:25:09.020 I'd make fear the most reliable product in America
00:25:13.480 the one that we build every day
00:25:15.040 and we're proud to build fear
00:25:16.500 I would tell you the end is coming
00:25:19.520 I would tell you that everything is rigged
00:25:22.120 I would tell you it's all rigged
00:25:26.460 and nothing you do will make a difference
00:25:28.980 because a man who believes nothing
00:25:31.460 a man who believes nothing he will ever do
00:25:36.000 that will ever matter
00:25:37.640 he'll eventually stop doing anything at all.
00:25:42.140 Not evil.
00:25:44.600 Just nothing.
00:25:47.280 And nothing is all I ever really needed.
00:25:54.740 If I were the devil,
00:25:57.020 I'd whisper one more thing
00:25:58.820 to each and every one privately.
00:26:03.740 Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh.
00:26:07.640 You know, you're the only one that feels this way.
00:26:10.220 Don't tell anyone.
00:26:12.700 They won't understand.
00:26:15.220 But I do.
00:26:18.060 Isolation is my oldest trick.
00:26:21.060 The wolf never takes the sheep in the middle of the flock.
00:26:25.320 He always takes the ones on the edges.
00:26:28.340 The ones that are alone.
00:26:30.300 That's the plan.
00:26:32.100 Look around.
00:26:33.860 It's working.
00:26:37.640 however if i were the devil i'd also know what i was afraid of
00:26:43.320 and it's not an army and it's not an election
00:26:46.120 if i were the devil what would i be afraid of if i were the devil i would be afraid of the family
00:26:54.540 that puts the phones in a basket and eats dinner together i'd be afraid of a man who sits in the
00:27:00.920 quiet long enough to hear his own conscience i'd be afraid of a neighbor who votes differently and
00:27:07.220 then shows up with a casserole anyway.
00:27:12.680 I'd be terrified of a young couple who gets married, has kids, and then doesn't apologize
00:27:19.060 for it. 0.59
00:27:22.960 I'd be afraid of anyone who says, you know what, I was wrong, I'm sorry, out loud.
00:27:28.860 I'd be terrified of gratitude
00:27:33.960 because a graceful man
00:27:36.440 is almost impossible
00:27:38.960 to manipulate
00:27:40.380 one more thing
00:27:47.500 I'd be afraid of
00:27:48.920 good thing I don't have to worry much about this
00:27:51.280 I'd be afraid of a knee on the floor
00:27:54.820 the devil doesn't need our souls on day one
00:28:04.000 he only needs our attention
00:28:06.220 whatever owns our attention
00:28:09.060 eventually becomes our affections
00:28:19.180 we have a week till the election
00:28:20.940 we have a few days before the costumes
00:28:24.000 and before the ballots.
00:28:28.100 Take your attention back this week.
00:28:32.320 Turn everything off.
00:28:35.300 Go outside.
00:28:37.400 Call the person you've been avoiding.
00:28:40.180 Sit at the table.
00:28:43.600 Say the prayer, even if it feels awkward.
00:28:47.580 His whole strategy depends on you being too distracted to notice it.
00:28:51.180 look how many things the world is not noticing
00:28:55.320 that are just screaming evil at us every day.
00:29:02.000 You've got to notice.
00:29:05.060 And perhaps,
00:29:07.260 now you have.

00:29:21.180 doctors told alba that pregnancy was impossible her husband's diagnosis confirmed it a child of
00:29:29.520 their own just was not going to happen then the impossible happened alba was pregnant positive
00:29:34.360 pregnancy test felt like a mistake cruel twist of science she didn't understand or want at the time
00:29:39.320 nothing added up she had accepted pregnancy wasn't possible this baby wasn't planned she was confused
00:29:44.220 she was afraid she was overwhelmed what should have felt like a miracle felt like a crisis then
00:29:48.220 Alba walked into a pre-born network clinic and everything changed. She was welcomed with
00:29:52.220 compassion and given a free ultrasound. And when she saw her baby and heard that tiny heartbeat,
00:29:56.820 everything changed. Fear gave way to hope. Alba chose life. Baby Laura is healthy and striving.
00:30:02.760 A reminder that when God is writing the story, impossible doesn't get the final word. He does.
00:30:07.300 Right now, another mother needs that moment. You can give it to her. Just $28 helps provide

00:30:32.520 so let me introduce you to the family morning star gopher she is uh chief uh john two guns
00:30:44.640 great great great granddaughter uh denise rosado she is the estate attorney kenneth conway he is
00:30:53.320 the great great grandson uh merlin harwood he is the great great grandson as well and also uh i
00:31:03.700 know i think that's all we have on the phone with us now okay so welcome family glad you're here
00:31:09.480 thank you for being willing to tell the story morning story i want to start with i want to
00:31:14.060 start with you can you take us back to tell why it was important to uh chief john two guns
00:31:24.200 to have this story told and what he was like and what he did in his life
00:31:29.480 so i think in terms of our grandfather chief two guns he was a very prominent figure in the early
00:31:38.440 you know the early 1900s and he was a tribal advocate for all tribal nations and i want that
00:31:45.340 to be very clear for all of my native people and all the other people who are kind of opposing this
00:31:51.280 right now he advocated not only for the blackfeet nation but for all indigenous people and he was
00:31:59.220 considered the most photographed native man of that time frame and you know he he really did a
00:32:07.400 lot for our people. And, you know, he was a very prominent figure. And I really do believe that
00:32:13.940 with the Redskins logo, you know, our family always had the anticipation that it was a source
00:32:20.180 of pride. You know, we are very prideful people. You know, if you've actually been around,
00:32:24.800 you know, any tribal people, you know that we have a lot of pride in our heritage and who we are as
00:32:31.900 individuals so merlin when did you find out they were changing the logo and did they ever call
00:32:38.380 anybody in the family and ask hey what's your opinion on this yeah um well we did notify uh
00:32:47.980 when we found out that the the there's a movement to basically you know change the name for the
00:32:53.580 current washington commanders from the redskins and um that was around 2020 so
00:32:59.900 So with that, we've seen a lot of the social media movement on that.
00:33:07.140 And unfortunately, like I said, our family really wasn't involved in that.
00:33:11.040 So one of the things that I know that we're serious about.
00:33:13.980 Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
00:33:15.020 Can I ask, how was your family not involved?
00:33:17.380 It was your great-great-grandfather's face on the helmet.
00:33:22.140 How was the family just left beside?
00:33:25.700 Well, sure.
00:33:26.380 Sure. I mean, that's exactly what our biggest concern was, right? We're not hearing from
00:33:32.800 any. We're seeing stuff on social media, Glenn, right? But we don't, you know, we heard anything
00:33:37.340 from the commander's organization. Morningstar was going to go a little bit where she actually
00:33:42.060 did reach out to, you know, try to solicit, you know, some feedback from the ownership.
00:33:47.460 But, you know, at this point, we don't really hear from them on, you know, specifically
00:33:52.280 with the name so um so i mean like like morningstar was saying it's you know chief two guns white calf
00:33:58.520 was you know a very prominent figure a very prideful figure for you know for us in ending
00:34:03.400 country um you know so to have him you know taken out off of that based upon um you know specific
00:34:12.280 movements right on social media without really consulting as you said stated 90 approval right
00:34:17.800 right? In Indian country with the name not being racist to us. So, you know, but so that's more
00:34:23.480 kind of looking at, you know, getting his image reinstated. So. So Kenneth, what was your reaction
00:34:29.980 to all this? Kind of shock and disbelief. You know, my grandfather, we were really proud to
00:34:40.060 have him on the helmet and everything. And like Merlin said, he was advocate for all Indian people
00:34:46.580 And for our tribe, he he was most famous Indian back in those days.
00:34:51.320 And he stayed in eastern back east just to help our people.
00:34:57.280 And he spent his whole life trying to do that, to bring, you know, prosperity to us and justice and everything.
00:35:06.120 And to lose him is quite a loss, you know, to all Indian people, because he was you could look up and see him.
00:35:14.580 and see a real Indian.
00:35:17.660 He wasn't a mascot or a cartoon character.
00:35:20.000 He was a real person who had a very rich history.
00:35:24.640 And to lose that is quite a loss to all of us Indians in Indian country.
00:35:29.460 I have to tell you, I think it would be great to have him reinstated.
00:35:32.820 And I think, you know, the logo can stay the logo,
00:35:35.020 but I think they should put the actual photograph of him on the side of the helmet.
00:35:39.960 I mean, he is such a striking looking man.
00:35:42.400 um so morning star i i talked about this last week and i am
00:35:49.700 i have to tell you it's the same kind of do-gooding white people that started this
00:36:00.200 nightmare when they came in and they were like you know what we're gonna put everybody in a
00:36:04.080 christian school and we're gonna cut everybody's hair and we're gonna and and that that group that
00:36:10.940 I think they were in Pennsylvania.
00:36:13.980 They started a football team in Pennsylvania.
00:36:18.020 Then it goes to Boston.
00:36:19.660 It becomes the Redskins as almost defiant.
00:36:25.160 Really?
00:36:25.720 You're not going to crush us. 0.98
00:36:26.800 We're going to crush you.
00:36:27.640 And they beat Army and everybody else. 0.98
00:36:29.760 It was crazy.
00:36:30.600 But it seems like the same kind of do-gooders that are doing the same thing now.
00:36:36.840 And I don't know about – I'm offended.
00:36:39.360 I'm offended for your family.
00:36:40.940 I mean, they think they just know better every single time.
00:36:45.400 Is that relatable to you at all?
00:36:47.960 Because that's the way I feel.
00:36:50.360 Let me be fair about this, Glenn, because I don't think most of those people had any necessarily ill intentions or were bad people.
00:37:00.520 I think a lot of the work that comes out of that community, they can benefit, you know, it directly benefits us as well.
00:37:06.920 And so on that regard, you know, because of that network that our people had to create, you know, in terms of activism, we had to create our own MMIP, Missing Murdered Indigenous People, you know, we had to create our own network to advocate for our own people.
00:37:25.740 So I'm not bashing any, you know, any one single, you know, activist group or anything like that.
00:37:34.200 But I think a lot of it comes out of them being misinformed on who he was.
00:37:39.300 And, you know, a few people jumped on the bandwagon and that's kind of how it snowballed into where we are at now.
00:37:47.280 I will tell you, I don't mean to, I should have phrased that better because I did a monologue on it last week.
00:37:53.100 And I think the people back then actually thought they were doing the right thing, but they didn't talk or understand the Native American people or the culture at all. 0.99
00:38:04.840 They just felt theirs was better and they knew better. 0.93
00:38:07.720 And I feel like the same thing is happening here.
00:38:09.840 They might have had the best intentions.
00:38:11.620 They might be great people, but they didn't.
00:38:15.160 They're hijacked.
00:38:16.780 They're taking it as their responsibility.
00:38:19.780 It's your responsibility.
00:38:21.400 If you don't like it, then it should have begun with you, not with some do-gooding wipe, in my opinion.
00:38:28.780 Anyway, let's move on. 0.88
00:38:30.580 Denise, you are legal counsel.
00:38:35.740 Why is legal counsel getting involved in this now?
00:38:39.480 So I represent the family of Chief John Tugans in advocacy efforts, not litigation.
00:38:44.420 And I'm here because I believe it's really important to have a meaningful dialogue with the NFL and the family so that we can actually come to the table and start talking about how to move forward.
00:38:57.080 Their history, legacy, ancestors, memory has been erased without their meaningful consultation.
00:39:04.300 And I think it's important to sit down at the table.
00:39:08.000 And the family wants to go about it in a very diplomatic manner.
00:39:11.280 we want to be open-minded but we definitely want to be heard and it's it's only fair that the nfl
00:39:18.800 sits down with us and talk about it and i live in dc and let me tell you dc fans want the redskins
00:39:25.500 logo back we love the redskins so let's bring it back
