The Glenn Beck Program - Best of The Program ｜ Guests： Gov. Abbott & Mercedes Schlapp ｜ 7⧸16⧸21

00:00:00.000 hey everybody a great great program for you today that you don't really want to miss a second of it

00:00:06.700 mainly because stew doesn't say very much he got a bobo on his tongue he got a kangaroo on his tongue 0.94

00:00:13.320 really miserable yeah yeah it's uh it's great bill o'reilly is with us today governor greg

00:00:19.480 abbott is with us we talk about we talk about what is going on in washington what is happening

00:00:26.200 with our banking system uh what is what the big stories of the week were this is a big show you

00:00:34.020 don't want to miss on today's podcast you're listening to the best of the glenn beck program

00:00:46.520 we want to welcome a broadcasting friend jerry agar he's the host of the jerry agar show

00:00:55.260 up in uh canada in toronto he's also columnist for the toronto sun um and he just happened to be by

00:01:02.440 and i wanted to talk to him about what's happening in canada because um as he'll explain americans

00:01:07.640 should care what's happening in canada right now uh things are really really they make as much sense

00:01:15.740 as they do here in america you have a scandal going up uh in canada that i think most people in america

00:01:22.580 haven't paid attention to and that is uh these unmarked graveyards of these state schools for

00:01:30.700 you call them first nations native americans yes residential schools they were called uh canada and

00:01:36.140 the united states both have uh that history right in canada didn't end until 1996 this is a case of

00:01:42.640 children who were taken by force from their families in fact one woman who was in one of the

00:01:49.240 schools because it ended uh only in the 90s there are lots of people who were in the school as

00:01:55.140 children and there are lots of people still around who administered the whole thing from the government

00:01:58.880 and church levels as well the churches were running the schools and one lady testified my family took me

00:02:04.700 to the school because it was your daughter goes to the school or one of you two parents goes to prison

00:02:11.960 wow yes uh that happened in both countries and the reason that i say this is something that americans

00:02:19.040 should be paying attention to is um the the history of the schools has been known and the the fact that

00:02:25.600 numbers of kids died and parents sometimes weren't even notified they were just buried up behind the

00:02:30.400 school um that that's been known to some degree but not as much but all of a sudden people started

00:02:35.840 actually looking for bodies and they went out with ground penetrating radar and they found over a

00:02:40.700 thousand of them now there are native leaders who are saying whoa whoa whoa let's be careful here

00:02:45.340 because this is not necessarily a mass grave this is the local cemetery uh in some cases you've got

00:02:51.220 adults buried there you've got other people so an investigation has to continue but but that hasn't

00:02:56.960 stopped people from burning down churches oh well why wait for an investigation right yeah okay

00:03:02.340 let's burn down churches yeah okay uh both our countries tragically in many countries have people

00:03:07.520 who that's what they live for is to just go let's it because we burned down portland so now let's see

00:03:12.820 if we can burn down canada right you know it's that kind of thing right okay so so we don't know

00:03:19.000 if if any of these graves are from children that just disappeared or do we know that i don't think

00:03:26.860 we do know definitively um and so we but we suspect yes that's what the investigation is uh is uh about

00:03:33.940 look well let's start with this it was a racist policy yeah on the part of both nations the the

00:03:39.820 concept was um kill the indian save the child and as a friend of mine who he didn't go to the schools

00:03:47.700 art wanich is his name he's indigenous he's native uh but family members did and as he said it was

00:03:54.720 kill the indian save the child they forgot about the save the child part and uh but but as if that is 0.53

00:04:01.160 even better it's interesting you say kill the indian save the child where the policies here in america 0.99

00:04:08.180 in our schools now is a a lighter version of that make the child the most unlike their parents as 0.92

00:04:15.900 possible to stop the furthering of that uh kind of thinking yeah you know what i mean yeah sure that's

00:04:23.860 what they were trying to do they were trying to canadianize or americanize native americans right

00:04:30.160 they had to be uh they had to learn how to assimilate into society or be forced to assimilate

00:04:34.700 into society to forget their native language their native cultures and of course be saved from their 1.00

00:04:41.040 uh their heathen nature and be christianized the amazing thing is that the vast majority of native 1.00

00:04:47.040 people in canada are christian and it's their churches that are being burned down in some cases

00:04:52.940 these are churches that were built by native people and so but but see none of that matters

00:04:59.040 to activist types yeah who by the way are not necessarily uh individuals in ratty t-shirts and

00:05:05.360 jeans in their mom's basement who go out and cause trouble the the um civil liberties people in canada

00:05:11.420 the bar association of one of the eastern canadian associations uh was speaking well you know this was

00:05:16.820 terrible and we understand why they're burning down the churches and one activist even went so far as to

00:05:21.380 say well look this is not a hate crime it's not like burning a mosque which you know as the new 0.82

00:05:25.860 york post wrote well it's kind of like saying you know what the catholic church had it coming

00:05:29.140 and there's been that kind of an apology too for uh black lives matter and and uh antifa activists in

00:05:36.680 the united states when they cause damage okay so they're they're burning down the churches and

00:05:41.840 they're condemning um something that should be condemned and we would all condemn uh the actions

00:05:48.300 like that of our governments uh in the past um however they're not going they're going after

00:05:53.820 the past they're not actually going after the people who are still alive who may have done it

00:05:59.620 yeah that's an amazing thing and the prime minister wants to blame us all he wants every canadian you

00:06:04.120 know to kneel down and be embarrassed and he there's one he won't mention his father

00:06:08.460 pierre elliott trudeau prime minister during the time of the residential schools

00:06:14.560 and uh but apparently nobody in the liberal government wants to mention that he can't even

00:06:20.140 say you know i'll start it by apologizing on behalf of my own family that would be kind of helpful

00:06:24.880 wouldn't it we can't do anything about pierre elliott trudeau he's dead but i identified for my

00:06:30.940 listeners and readers in canada um a number a handful of former ministers of indian and northern

00:06:38.080 affairs that's what it was called at the time they're still alive one of them was a former mayor of

00:06:42.260 the city of toronto he's probably not happy with me uh his name is david crombie but uh and there

00:06:48.820 are prime ministers still alive who uh were in position as prime minister while the school system

00:06:55.360 continued no i'm not saying they should be jailed but they should be brought to an investigation

00:06:59.480 stop lecturing me as an average canadian and and bring these people in as part of the investigation

00:07:05.580 what were you thinking so there's there's two classes of people uh now um gosh who was i talking

00:07:11.260 to yesterday that was was talking about this may have been laura laura logan that there's going to

00:07:15.860 be two classes of people um the those that are monitored and those that aren't so those who are

00:07:24.800 in the right class they're the leaders the globalists whatever they're not going to pay for any mistakes

00:07:32.380 no but we will yeah we will but they won't when david crombie this is my prediction when david crombie

00:07:38.740 dies his eulogy will be former mayor of the city of toronto the nickname was the tiny perfect mayor

00:07:47.520 order of canada recipient order of ontario recipient all of these good works that he did oh by the way

00:07:54.300 helped run the residential no no no let's not talk about that let's just burn some churches down 0.92

00:07:58.480 instead what advice do you have for us because i can't imagine being on the radio in in canada um

00:08:06.180 why not you've got your own issues you deal with you could deal with it you're farther along aren't

00:08:11.320 you well here's why i say americans should care about this the secretary of the interior has ordered

00:08:16.220 an investigation of residential schools in america to get out there with the ground penetrating radar i

00:08:22.420 think is what they want and start looking for bodies well they're going to find them and if that

00:08:27.040 happens do you start to see the churches burn down here glenn you know very well there are people

00:08:31.260 who want to burn churches down anyway yeah so this is just the you know the go signal the flag go burn

00:08:37.080 some churches down but are they burning the churches down that were involved with these schools what is

00:08:43.000 the church connection they were the they were the leadership of these schools or well they're catholic

00:08:48.280 churches and the catholic church ran uh not all but a higher percentage of the residential school so

00:08:54.700 they've decided and you know the catholic church is a handy target right yeah um but first of all

00:08:59.700 because they're so big and secondly because of everything they went through years ago here with

00:09:03.980 the sure with the other controversy um and so they're an easy target and you know you don't have

00:09:10.000 to be a talk show host or a columnist for very long to know there are some virulently anti-religious

00:09:15.340 people i have not encountered them you know well strange that's my warning to you glad

00:09:21.160 wow let's write that down yes could somebody make a note yeah uh because those people are just

00:09:27.940 waiting for a chance and that's what's happening here you know should there be an investigation yes

00:09:32.440 there are uh native leaders who are coming out and condemning the burning of the churches because

00:09:37.360 in many cases they are churches built run and uh congregated by native people it's amazing

00:09:45.580 the people who are i just said yesterday we were we were talking about uh black lives matter and um 0.54

00:09:52.120 how african americans are getting screwed again again black lives matter marches in the streets they 0.96

00:09:59.540 get the police uh to go away who's paying for all of the cleanup how are these businesses faring now 0.97

00:10:07.000 without police the ones who are crying out for help are the people are the people who are left behind

00:10:14.260 in that community they are being slammed again the same thing is is happening over and over and over

00:10:21.260 again when you have these churches uh that are being burned down in the native american community

00:10:26.740 who's suffering the catholic church or the people who would go to that church the people who want to

00:10:31.660 go to church right and maybe pray about the situation at hand the investigation that needs to happen is

00:10:37.700 necessary um and and whatever comes out comes out i heard you speaking to some young people

00:10:42.280 on monday not on the air uh you were speaking to some young people and um you know you you talked

00:10:48.520 about how sometimes the the truth is irrelevant you know people get that tiny little kernel of thing

00:10:54.180 that they want uh they want to seize on like the anti-religious people and they're going to go 100

00:10:59.220 let's start burning down the churches even the native people saying could we have an investigation 1.00

00:11:03.380 could we all calm down a little nope nope no and i look this would i don't make many predictions of

00:11:10.200 what i think will happen in the future and i would be i'll make one and i'd be happy to be wrong about

00:11:14.320 this but i think you're going to see the same thing here that we will start to see bodies being

00:11:21.740 found searched for and then the eruption that will happen because if they do find some bodies

00:11:29.020 why wouldn't that eruption happen in america well that sounds completely reasonable reasonable and

00:11:37.240 something we can blame canada for thanks a lot for sending that across the border oh if you want

00:11:44.920 hardcore leftist activism open up the border no thank you we already have that jerry agar uh the host of

00:11:54.940 the jerry agar show he's also a columnist for the uh toronto sun uh and you can find him on the

00:12:01.660 website news talk 1010.com also uh follow him on twitter at jerry agar 1010 i don't know if you care

00:12:08.660 about this sort of stuff jerry i don't know if you're a big sports fan but is there are they going

00:12:11.160 to let the blue jays play in their own country anytime this year is that going to happen that's

00:12:14.960 that's still under consideration and they keep trying they're playing in buffalo i'll tell you

00:12:19.360 something really quick because it's funny uh there was a picture in the paper of a guy they they're

00:12:24.840 playing in buffalo at what was a triple a facility still is i guess and the the maple leafs nhl hockey

00:12:31.560 team uh tanked in the playoffs and a guy in buffalo held up a sign and it said sorry about the leafs and

00:12:38.700 we stole your baseball team thank you so much jerry appreciate it so i am trying to eat healthier and i am

00:12:48.460 but the thing is i don't like healthy food i don't like any of it you've heard of a fat suit right i

00:12:54.900 mean there's got to be when are we getting a skinny suit something that will make me look skinny because

00:12:59.440 i just want treats all the time i grew up in a bakery for the love of pete the bad news is no skinny

00:13:05.680 suit is coming you actually have to do the work blah blah blah that's why i am eating built bars it

00:13:10.960 satisfies my sweet tooth but it's a protein bar but not like you know that's like eating stuff at the

00:13:16.840 bottom of my chalkboard usually this is a hundred percent real chocolate it's low carb low sugar if

00:13:23.060 i'm eating a protein bar as a treat come on you gotta know it's good and i am mint brownie cookies

00:13:28.660 and cream the new flavors that are coming out all the time they're fantastic go to builtbar.com and

00:13:34.180 use the promo code beck15 for 15 off your order your mouth is going to water just looking at them

00:13:41.880 trust me builtbar.com promo code beck15

00:13:45.400 you're listening to the best of the glenn beck program

00:13:52.620 governor greg abbott and greg abbott from the great state of uh texas welcome governor how are you

00:14:06.620 sir doing great how you doing glenn um i'm good i'm good so what a week what a week you've had

00:14:13.620 um the uh the democrats walk out and let's set the record straight what exactly we know what

00:14:21.820 they're saying is in the bill what is actually in the bill that they walked away from a great point

00:14:29.000 because what is in the bill is completely different than what they are saying what kamala harris is

00:14:34.740 what president biden is saying uh what's in the bill actually increases the number of hours that

00:14:41.820 people have to vote in the state of texas in the state of texas we have at least 12 days of early

00:14:47.800 voting and we are adding hours to those days and on top of that uh we are giving people time off from

00:14:54.840 work to be able to go vote bottom line we're making it easier to vote in the state of texas

00:15:00.540 by the way in comparison delaware the state that president biden votes in has exactly zero hours of

00:15:07.680 early voting if anyone wants to go after a state that's engaging in voter suppression because of

00:15:11.860 lack of time to vote early it should be people going after delaware not the state of texas that said

00:15:17.660 glenn there is one thing that we are doing in the state of texas and that is we are making sure

00:15:21.860 that we tighten the reins on mail-in ballots that can lead to voter fraud and it's not me saying

00:15:29.880 that it is a federal judge appointed by barack obama in corpus christi texas who wrote in a legal

00:15:36.400 opinion that voter fraud occurs quote in abundance as it concerns mail-in ballots we know texans know

00:15:45.180 there is fraud in mail-in ballots in the state of texas it must be fixed and that's one thing that we

00:15:50.480 are trying to do but that said all of these claims and oh we're denying people the right to vote yada

00:15:56.240 yada yada are completely false i i have to tell you governor i i i don't know what to do with the lies

00:16:03.240 anymore you know that it used to be you got to watch their language carefully they're just out and out

00:16:10.440 lies now that are being being said and most americans agree with even democrats voter id

00:16:18.420 most people agree with hey let's just make sure that all of the real ballots count and we make

00:16:27.120 sure no fake ballots or distorted ballots are counted every american should agree with that

00:16:33.920 and that's exactly what texas is achieving but let's go back to the first point that you made

00:16:39.820 and that is the lies when when democrats do not have truth on their side they resort to one single

00:16:46.680 word and that is racism they say that texas is being racist by doing this and you talked about

00:16:53.060 voter id so texas implemented voter id almost a decade ago and when we went through that fight

00:16:59.660 what word did they use racist that texas is engaging in racism this is going to hurt people of color yada

00:17:05.700 yada yada guess what after texas imposed voter id requirements in the state of texas there had been

00:17:12.100 more people vote more people of color who went to vote voting didn't get harder it got easier and more

00:17:19.020 abundant in the state of texas and so once again democrats have absolutely no legal standing other

00:17:26.920 than to say oh racism racism racism and what they have done because they use the term so much

00:17:32.560 it means that there really is no substance to the term anymore and it's sad because real racism does

00:17:39.040 exist and we should do everything we can to fight real racism but if somebody is always crying rape

00:17:45.560 you don't you stop hearing it's like car alarms when car alarms first started i mean everybody car

00:17:50.980 alarm would go off everybody would look now car alarms look there could be a guy standing there with

00:17:54.700 a hammer and nobody looks at it they're like oh whatever it's somebody's car alarm um the um the the

00:18:01.040 the the thing you said this week was that you were going to go in and you will arrest them when they

00:18:08.020 come in uh when they come back to texas a is that a is that a is that a real promise will you really

00:18:17.000 arrest them when they come back into the state yeah let me explain how this works and so whenever there

00:18:22.300 is a break of quorum which is what has happened now meaning that there is not a sufficient number of

00:18:27.980 people who are showing up to the texas house of representatives for the texas house to engage in

00:18:33.000 business uh whenever there is a quorum break like that uh the house issues was called a uh call on the

00:18:40.040 house and when that happens uh the sergeant at arms is authorized to work with the texas department of

00:18:45.580 public safety to you can call it arrest apprehend whatever you want to call it uh any of the members who

00:18:52.580 are not in the texas house of representatives and bring them to the texas house where they will be

00:18:58.400 cabined in the texas house with no ability to leave the texas house chamber without a permission slip

00:19:05.880 from the speaker and this is exactly what will happen the only limitation to it is one uh the fact that

00:19:14.160 texas law enforcement officers do not have jurisdiction authority beyond our state boundaries and that's

00:19:20.780 exactly why they're not up there in washington dc uh putting these uh texas democrats who are on the

00:19:27.160 run uh under arrest and bringing them back to texas however once they do return to texas if they fail to

00:19:33.440 show up to do the duty that they ran for and that is to go to the capitol and cast votes uh if they

00:19:39.800 don't show up to the capitol uh they the texas department of public safety will be sent out to bring

00:19:45.380 them back in so it's not it's not an arrest as people think of an arrest it is they will pick you

00:19:51.740 up and take you to the capitol and you can't leave the capitol until your job is done right it's not

00:19:57.580 arrest for a crime got it it's an arrest to bring them back to the capitol to force them to do their

00:20:03.000 job now think about that are you being forced to do your job are your listeners being forced to do

00:20:08.180 their job what would happen to your listeners if they decided well you know i don't like the way

00:20:12.360 things are going here and i'm not winning at my my job here i'm going to walk off the job uh and

00:20:17.280 still expect to get paid that's exactly what these democrats are doing uh and uh just like your

00:20:22.520 listeners if they walked off the job they would be fired they would lose their paycheck and that

00:20:26.800 mark my words that's exactly what's going to happen to these democrats who have fled the state of texas

00:20:31.380 because texans do not approve of people especially the people they voted in office walking off the job

00:20:38.100 and not doing their job have you seen any polls on this at all i mean i can't believe i mean i would

00:20:44.480 be really angry if if the republicans walked out of congress right now i mean they're not getting

00:20:50.360 anything done they can't pass anything but if they if they walked off the job i'd be really pissed at

00:20:57.660 them it is is that have you seen polling how is this going to work out for these guys so we have

00:21:04.240 seen polling there's an organization in texas called the texas public policy foundation and they

00:21:10.460 did a poll on this within the last week uh showing uh that those uh members who walk off the job uh there

00:21:17.920 is a great disapproval rating among all demographic groups so i have it in front of me right now uh it's

00:21:26.240 texaspolicy.com uh and the title of it is texans oppose walkouts to avoid votes and that's why i know

00:21:36.340 for a fact uh that these members when they return and ask their constituents for support again uh it's

00:21:43.140 going to look very very bad for them we saw this once before there's history for this in the state

00:21:47.560 of texas because uh when we were going through redistricting a decade or so ago the democrats

00:21:53.300 fled the state once again they first went to ardmore oklahoma then they went to albuquerque

00:21:57.400 new mexico uh to evade uh being arrested in the state of texas uh and things turned out bad for

00:22:03.580 them at the ballot box and this time it's even worse because there are so many issues that we have

00:22:09.600 on this special session call in addition to election integrity we have property tax reform we can reduce

00:22:15.720 your property taxes in texas if uh the democrats in the texas house showed up there's bail reform uh

00:22:22.540 senator joan huffman said that since the democrats uh left uh and broke quorum initially in late may

00:22:32.060 there had been five people in the state of texas murdered by people who were out on bail we've got

00:22:37.880 to fix a broken bail system in the state of texas so there's going to be blood on the hands of the

00:22:41.800 democrats who failed to show up and do their job governor texas governor of texas greg abbott thank

00:22:46.980 you so much sir we'll talk to you again keep up the good work take care of that the best of the

00:22:53.000 blenbeck program

00:22:53.940 i want to bring on mercedes schlapp uh she is uh a latina or latinx i think is what they 1.00

00:23:08.340 you're called now mercedes latinx so yeah see latinx they love using that and let me tell you

00:23:15.960 something the latinos we don't like when they change the spanish language we like to keep the 0.98

00:23:21.040 l and the law in our spanish language so um it's not very popular despite right president biden loves

00:23:27.980 to use it yeah so anyway mercedes slap she is a senior fellow american conservative union foundation

00:23:33.740 she was the host of america uncancelled uh at uh cpac and uh former white house strategic

00:23:40.620 communications advisor i wanted to bring you on because you are also somebody that really understands

00:23:46.420 cuba because your father uh was put into prison by fidel castro that's right and he served uh he was

00:23:57.700 thrown into jail for six years he had a 13-year prison sentence uh and you know i gotta tell you

00:24:03.520 glenn you know he was one of these guys self-made businessman in cuba and when he saw the castro

00:24:10.540 regime come into power and start taking away their liberties taking away their guns i want to make

00:24:15.840 that very clear uh he knew that this was a country going in the wrong direction and he really had a

00:24:21.720 choice he either was either going to stay quiet and play along or fight back and he chose to fight

00:24:27.820 back and join a counter-revolutionary group and you know sadly they were uh exposed by what i would say

00:24:34.660 a mole in the group and several of his friends actually were executed and he has a very sad sad

00:24:41.740 stories about the lives that were lost and some of these actual some of these individuals actually had

00:24:46.920 a prison sentence of about 20 years uh so he he has seen it firsthand of the human rights abuses of the

00:24:55.340 torture of what happens in the cuban jails as well as the fact that they the castro regime and the 0.68

00:25:02.680 communist regime have cracked down on the cuban people uh and you know now he lives here in the

00:25:08.500 u.s he's 85 years old and he's very worried about the state of affairs here in america my bet he is he's

00:25:15.100 he's lived it he's seen it um let's talk specifically here about uh cuba because we are seeing the beatings

00:25:23.620 on the streets now uh these guys all dressed in black i assume they're paramilitary or military

00:25:30.280 uh or police force of cuba um they're coming out all in black um black uniforms and they are beating

00:25:38.320 people within an inch of their life uh on the streets you know they have their version of antifa

00:25:45.500 quite frankly and what the cuban president miguel diaz canel uh basically said to the cuban people

00:25:52.560 uh to he basically he said it to the cuban communists he says to take it directly to the

00:25:58.000 cuban people and you need to stop this and you need to be courageous in stopping the cuban people 1.00

00:26:03.340 who are fighting for freedom so he's sending out the thugs the communist thugs out beyond just the 0.91

00:26:09.460 cuban military to create even more chaos on the street and just my sources also say that the

00:26:15.760 venezuelan military uh they've reached the island so they're definitely part of helping

00:26:21.200 uh the regime in implementing these horrific practices and tactics and they're going into

00:26:29.460 people's homes i mean our sources as we're seeing is that they're going into people's homes

00:26:33.180 shooting people uh point blank it's a lot of young people this movement that's been in place for quite

00:26:39.440 some time in cuba it's led by artists uh by uh by young people that are the ones driving uh what

00:26:48.420 we're seeing happening on the island you know it's so strange mercedes is is the people who always

00:26:54.100 get us into these are also the ones who get us out it's the look at what's happening now it's the

00:27:00.520 artist it's the creatives it's the you know the students that buy into this communist bullcrap

00:27:07.000 and then they go through horrible horrible nightmare years and then it's those same people or their

00:27:14.540 children that lead back out well you know it's been 60 years over 60 years of a dictatorship

00:27:24.140 and these are you know these individuals don't have economic opportunities unless you join the

00:27:30.740 military or the intelligentsia or government in essence where they basically are pretending like

00:27:35.820 nothing's happened but then you have those individuals who are saying look i can't get a good

00:27:41.220 meal you know my food is rationed i can't even speak up because i'll be thrown into jail and there

00:27:47.740 we have no liberties and so for the for the cuban people i mean they have just had it and really this

00:27:55.000 is about a cry for freedom and it drives me crazy when you have these leftists who say oh it's about

00:27:59.920 the trade embargo like black lives matter said oh we have to blame the u.s government or they say this

00:28:05.640 is about a food shortage or a vaccine shortage no people it's about freedom it's a very simple fact

00:28:12.160 yes do we know that they've had economic stress that tourism has gone down that there is a vaccine

00:28:17.160 shortage and a food shortage absolutely but the bigger fight here is libertad patria y vida freedom

00:28:23.840 homeland and life and many of these people have said i'm willing to give up my life for freedom

00:28:30.020 so mercedes how is this i mean we saw this in tokyo and there was not tokyo um hong kong and there was

00:28:40.500 this great hope and then covid happened and america turned a blind eye because we were we were busy with

00:28:48.520 our own stuff once we took the eye off the ball the china rolled in with tanks and these people just 1.00

00:28:56.000 disappeared we have word now that a hundred people at least uh have been disappeared um probably dead or

00:29:04.920 in prison now and we have in a in a crazy turn of events we have a an administration that uh is

00:29:17.980 spending like there's no tomorrow but they're pulling funding from the american broadcasts that go

00:29:23.900 into cuba and are as we have everybody flooding our border we now have uh the director of um

00:29:33.500 homeland security coming out and saying if you get on a raft you will not make it to america

00:29:39.780 what are we doing i know and actually if you know if you know a thing or two about asylum

00:29:46.280 really these individuals in cuba that's going through political persecution they're the ones that

00:29:52.280 actually qualify for asylum unlike many of those who cross the border just simply for economic reasons

00:29:57.980 uh but look we're facing a very difficult challenge and i tell you it's heartbreaking for me to watch

00:30:04.160 because i do feel like the cuban people are defenseless and it's going to take a miracle i really

00:30:08.860 do believe that but i do think that uh what you know we i hope to see is that there's someone in the

00:30:15.740 military or even like three or four of them that say we gotta stop killing our own people

00:30:21.040 and that isn't that why they're bringing isn't that why they're bringing venezuelans in

00:30:26.060 oh absolutely i mean this is just this is why you have not only venezuela but the russians and the

00:30:32.320 chinese basically ensuring that the u.s does not get involved in any sort of way and they're 0.99

00:30:38.220 obviously part of propping up this regime in cuba it is about a national security issue for america

00:30:45.920 as well because the reality is is that russia and china are heavily invested in cuba and for them

00:30:53.140 that's a strategic place to be 90 miles from the u.s absolutely they want to be involved so look for

00:30:58.780 the cuban people it is very difficult when you know that the castro regime back in the early 60s 1.00

00:31:06.040 basically told them hand over your guns because we're going to need them to fight the foreign 1.00

00:31:11.840 influence of the united states of america they confiscated their guns these people have no way

00:31:19.020 to defend themselves and so this is going to be about fear and oppression and the cuban regime is

00:31:25.620 probably hoping that somehow the u.s decides to lose focus the reality is the difference this time

00:31:31.840 around which is i think a little different than hong kong is that the cuban american

00:31:35.700 votes in florida is so critical and we're very loud and they are standing up demanding the

00:31:43.920 biden administration to take action and so that's why you've seen the biden administration be trying

00:31:49.180 to figure out what their next steps are quite frankly i don't think it's going to be enough to

00:31:54.560 change things in cuba is there something that we as people can do to support them

00:32:02.360 well i think first it starts with prayer i think that it really again like i said it's going to

00:32:08.440 take a miracle and i know that there's a lot of these brave young men and women in cuba who are

00:32:13.520 putting their lives at risk to take over and try to take over and overthrow the cuban government but

00:32:20.360 it's going to take a lot more than that i mean we have to put the pressure on the biden campaign

00:32:24.420 i think for example one of the things that senator marco rubio and several other cuban leaders are pushing

00:32:30.160 for is internet access and basically encouraging these private companies uh to get involved in

00:32:37.540 allowing for internet access in cuba that's important because that keeps the different

00:32:42.620 regions in cuban the different provinces in cuba connected uh you know hang on just a second you know

00:32:48.520 it's it is very easy for them to do they they orchestra excuse me they orchestrated as we know now

00:32:55.420 they helped orchestrate the arab spring these social media companies they had a whole team

00:33:02.800 working on that where are they on cuba where are they great point that's a great point and if there's

00:33:10.420 anything we know is that our american intelligence community knows exactly what they would need to do

00:33:15.580 to penetrate cuban what they need the support they need and secondly i mean we really need president

00:33:22.200 biden to mount an international effort uh that would call for free and fair elections for a peaceful

00:33:28.260 democrat uh democratic transition uh but again you know this is not the type this president is not the

00:33:35.520 type of guy that i can envision being the strong guy to really push for change in cuba it took him

00:33:41.720 four to five days to even say that communism is a failed ideology and obviously he has his progressive

00:33:47.580 friends on the left who are silent who are blaming everything on the trade embargo uh on cuba and so

00:33:54.000 you know it's it's a tough one i gotta tell you glenn it's really tough to watch but we'll see what

00:33:59.120 happens mercedes schlapp thank you so much god bless thank you glenn and i just want to say that your

00:34:04.700 speech at cpac was the very best and everyone needs to go watch it go to conservative.org you've made me

00:34:11.380 cry twice in the last two times that i've seen you you're an inspiration and american treasure and we

00:34:16.900 thank you thank you for what you're doing every day that's kind of you thank you very much mercedes
