Summary

The world we live in now is not the world we were in on Tuesday, we have crossed a threshold, and we now live in a very different nation and it s not because of the riots themselves, those could have been nothing more than a minor blip in the grand scheme of things, but because the leftist coalition now includes governments, media and big tech and they have declared war on us.

00:00:00.000 hey podcasters it's monday and it still reminds me halfway through this podcast
00:00:04.400 this is only day six of our broadcast year day freaking six amazing it's an insane year
00:00:13.220 and uh if you feel the way we do uh well you should listen to today's show again you always
00:00:19.860 say why did i waste all those blackouts back in the day you could have seen if i didn't become
00:00:25.120 an alcoholic 25 years ago now is the time to start drinking in fact i think that should be that
00:00:31.520 might be the message on tomorrow's podcast just hey if you're not an alcoholic yet start drinking
00:00:37.780 now's the time now is the time great podcast for you for a monday here it is
00:00:43.600 you're listening to the best of the blend back program
00:00:53.760 i think you feel it if you don't
00:01:02.160 if you don't maybe you're not paying attention and i know a lot of people that are just
00:01:07.920 disconnecting from the news and disconnecting from what's going on and they tell me and with a
00:01:14.400 with complete understanding i listen to them i feel better glenn i feel better when i don't listen in
00:01:21.820 the news i understand that but now is not the time to disconnect from what's going on because
00:01:29.740 the world is changing quickly something noteworthy and historic has occurred over the last couple of
00:01:40.940 days it is something historic but it is also something terrifying and i'm not talking about the
00:01:48.780 capital riots those were perhaps terrifying for a brief moment but they are being made historic by
00:01:56.220 the type and scope of media coverage that they are getting but anyone trying to make the claim that
00:02:03.500 american democracy almost died that day or a small handful of violent thugs represent some existential
00:02:11.180 threat to the u.s constitution has quite simply lost the plot
00:02:20.300 it is important to realize that the world we live in after the capital riots is not the world we were in
00:02:28.620 on tuesday we have crossed a threshold and we now live in a very different nation
00:02:40.380 and it's not because of the riots themselves those could have been nothing more than a minor blip in the
00:02:46.540 grand scheme of things but in case you don't feel or haven't realized it yet we now officially live in a
00:02:56.940 united nation in name only
00:03:03.820 and that is because of the way the left and even some of those so-called centrists
00:03:13.260 have decided to respond
00:03:14.780 we now have two distinct countries inside of one nation
00:03:23.900 we have two distinct peoples two distinct cultures two distinct economies
00:03:31.580 and one economy is truly under attack
00:03:35.900 we are way past now being just politically or ideologically divided
00:03:45.420 the leftist coalition now includes governments media and big tech
00:03:52.620 and
00:03:56.060 they have declared war although a cold war
00:04:00.620 they have declared a cold war on us
00:04:04.380 it's economic warfare
00:04:06.780 designed to remove
00:04:09.340 the ability
00:04:11.500 for half the country to communicate ideas communicate with each other
00:04:15.900 even be able to make a living
00:04:21.500 we have seen hints of this in the last few years where credit card companies and banks
00:04:27.660 have refused to do business with firearm companies
00:04:31.180 where single individuals were targeted to be de-platformed for what social media companies
00:04:38.060 deemed to be hate speech
00:04:41.340 those were trial balloons
00:04:44.060 those were probes to see how we would respond
00:04:48.140 to see how the courts would respond
00:04:50.300 they have been laying in wait
00:04:54.620 ready for a catalyzing event that they could use to justify open economic warfare
00:05:01.260 and the capital riots
00:05:04.140 foolishly have given them that event
00:05:15.820 i actually i know i might sound
00:05:20.300 tense today and i am
00:05:23.740 because every word that any of us speak
00:05:27.500 live
00:05:29.100 unscripted most of the time
00:05:32.940 is going to be monitored scrutinized and twisted
00:05:37.740 and the responsibility
00:05:41.980 to keep a voice that can be heard
00:05:46.860 is overwhelming on all of us
00:05:50.300 dennis prager
00:05:52.940 rush limbaugh
00:05:57.180 dave rubin
00:05:58.780 mark levin
00:06:05.020 this morning they have officially
00:06:08.460 de-platformed parlor from amazon
00:06:12.220 over the weekend it was amazon apple facebook and google but now the amazon web services have
00:06:18.140 shut them down
00:06:20.540 they are no longer able to you can't find them on the internet anymore they're gone
00:06:26.620 now these companies amazon apple facebook and google they did it all at the same time
00:06:37.020 i want you to know this is not about trump this is about them
00:06:43.180 the far left has talked about the far left has talked about breaking up these companies
00:06:51.020 for a long time elizabeth warren even even even i think kamala harris was talking about breaking them up too wasn't she during the primaries
00:07:01.820 they've talked about breaking these companies up
00:07:04.460 they know that they know that the power structure has totally changed
00:07:08.060 the power structure has totally changed they must find a way to be on the side of the left
00:07:14.620 this is something i warned you of four years ago
00:07:19.100 that there would come a time when
00:07:21.820 unemployment and the beginning of this transition
00:07:25.660 and the economy would change
00:07:27.900 change and people would begin to lose their jobs and you wouldn't be able to replace them because
00:07:34.540 a profound technological change
00:07:38.380 is coming
00:07:40.140 and i told you at the time
00:07:41.900 high tech will need the government and the government will need high tech
00:07:47.980 and they will work together
00:07:51.180 to preserve their power
00:07:53.900 and their position
00:07:56.540 this is what's happening today
00:07:59.660 donald trump
00:08:01.180 and the riots
00:08:03.260 are an excuse
00:08:05.260 and it is extraordinarily difficult
00:08:08.700 to swallow the hypocrisy
00:08:12.220 it's extraordinary
00:08:14.860 to hear about all the hate that was on parlor
00:08:19.980 when things like
00:08:21.020 kathy griffin
00:08:23.820 she reposted
00:08:25.740 the picture of her with the beheading of trump
00:08:29.580 trump's bloodied head
00:08:31.340 she reposted it on twitter
00:08:35.340 on wednesday of last week
00:08:38.540 no one has said anything about it
00:08:41.980 still
00:08:43.260 still from slate is the tweet
00:08:45.980 non-violence to protest
00:08:48.940 has always been important
00:08:50.780 but so is violence
00:08:54.540 it's very difficult to swallow
00:08:57.660 but we're the people that understand life is not fair
00:09:01.580 let's not become
00:09:05.580 all that we despise
00:09:09.260 this is not
00:09:11.580 the end of this
00:09:12.780 this is where the left is starting
00:09:17.500 today they say they're de-platforming people because they're inciting violence or for hate speech
00:09:22.140 but after that will be anything they decide is fake news anything they decide is anti-science
00:09:30.620 anything they believe may lead to the next trump
00:09:34.940 and those who persist in standing for freedom of speech freedom of expression freedom to assemble
00:09:41.020 freedom to keep and bear arms those people will be targeted for deletion
00:09:47.580 you will be hounded boycotted fired ostracized and de-platformed
00:09:56.060 and the louder and the more significant and effective your voice is the bigger the target is on your back
00:10:04.380 first let me say this
00:10:13.820 i will never stop standing for freedom of speech freedom of expression freedom to assemble freedom
00:10:22.380 to keep and bear arms and all of the rest of the bill of rights
00:10:27.180 that is the american thing to do
00:10:33.740 and i don't care what you do to my voice
00:10:37.500 i don't care
00:10:40.780 i don't care if you imprison me
00:10:46.540 i will continue to stand because i know the truth wins in the end
00:10:52.940 i believe nelson mandela
00:10:57.980 was a hero
00:11:01.260 and he too went to prison for what he believed
00:11:07.740 this is the best of the glenn beck program
00:11:10.060 jason whitlock
00:11:21.580 jason is a sports writer
00:11:25.340 why the heck is he on
00:11:28.140 the glenn beck program
00:11:29.980 well because he is a deep thinking man who is has been uh making a lot of waves in his own life
00:11:38.620 to his own career in many cases uh for speaking what he believes is the truth and he just wrote a new
00:11:46.620 op-ed it's up on the blaze ignoring the concerns of trump supporters will destroy america welcome jason
00:11:53.580 whitlock thank you glenn thanks for having me you bet how are you man i'm awesome well
00:12:01.740 i'm actually not i'm concerned i'm literally what the events going on in america the last week
00:12:07.820 have shaken me i gotta be honest yeah you know i said uh today that um i hope the audience doesn't
00:12:15.820 interpret somebody who's been listening to me for 20 years they might interpret how i sound today as
00:12:22.220 uh afraid or whatever i'm not i have i have i know uh who leads my life i know what i need to do
00:12:30.860 um but it is concerning deeply if you're not a little afraid of what's going on you're not you
00:12:37.820 don't understand what's going on yeah i i mean for just me personally my brand my career has been
00:12:46.940 based off of being an outspoken independent thinker that is clearly under attack i i've always thought of
00:12:56.380 journalism other than military service as the most patriotic thing you could do journalism under
00:13:04.220 attack uh we we don't have a free press we don't have free speech right now in america or not not the
00:13:11.820 free speech that i'm used to not what thomas jefferson and our founders intended uh this is a
00:13:20.060 scary time i i don't believe in being afraid i believe in being fearless uh i believe in leaning
00:13:28.380 into god but wow the what is going on in america right now uh the attack or and the the group think
00:13:39.820 and the big tech takeover of speech uh is one of the most disconcerting if it is the most disconcerting
00:13:48.460 thing that's happened to me in my lifetime well they have um you know they they apple and uh and amazon
00:13:56.300 and google they decided they were going to delete parlor from their app uh stores but this morning
00:14:03.980 amazon has taken them off the internet you can't find them anywhere on the internet today that's stunning
00:14:11.980 yeah that is that's just not good and and and and i don't i don't get parlor's crime because
00:14:23.180 let's say that amazon and jeff bezos and whoever's in his ear parlor's to blame for what happened at
00:14:30.860 the capitol it was plotted and there are threats that are being made uh over parlor is that not true of
00:14:39.340 cell phones do you think the people whoever did whatever was done at the capitol you think
00:14:45.020 they didn't use a cell phone to help execute that do you do you think there haven't been threats
00:14:50.460 made or promised over cell phones are we going after the iphone are we de-platforming the iphone i
00:14:58.380 don't i just don't the logic here and the justification is so flimsy it just
00:15:07.100 outrageous outrageous that i i just i'm at a loss but but glenn i have and this isn't to beat my
00:15:15.100 chest but it four or five years ago i started talking about hey man uh silicon valley northern
00:15:22.700 california has way too much power in america and is now in control of the media and this is not a good
00:15:32.540 thing the liberal from new york is completely different than the liberal from northern california
00:15:39.980 and to have this concentration of power in northern california where that's a very revolutionary
00:15:48.780 disruptive mindset in northern california it is again i don't want to paint with too broad of a brush but
00:15:56.700 they just don't believe in traditional american values and i just we've turned over this power and
00:16:05.900 i just never understood why our lawmakers and people well i do understand they were all getting checks and
00:16:11.900 money and big tech has bought off everybody yeah and now they need each other now one needs the protection
00:16:19.980 of the other yeah yeah it's i so so let me let me talk a little bit about what you wrote in uh your op-ed
00:16:30.140 piece you say there are two americas there's two american realities can you go into that a bit yeah there's
00:16:39.980 a reality for the elites progressive elites who live in a fantasy world of
00:16:49.820 disreality unreality a false false narratives uh and then there are those of us uh that live in reality
00:17:00.940 and i'm watching people i mean again when they twisted this capital thing into a racial incident
00:17:10.220 that's an example of like the progressive elites in hollywood in the sports world in politics
00:17:17.820 uh they live in a world where that was some sort of racial incident that happened last wednesday
00:17:27.340 those of us that live in the real world and in reality are like no that's an example
00:17:34.300 of what happens when you tell 74 million people they're unworthy of living here in this country they have no rights they're all racist they're nazis when you tell
00:17:47.260 you tell 74 million people that for four straight years and you're the worst people on the planet
00:17:55.260 you don't have a voice here in america and the one voice you have which was a powerful voice the president
00:18:01.340 we are silencing and removing from office and now we're coming for you you 74 million people anybody
00:18:08.380 that supported trump i'm just every action has an equal and opposite reaction and so you can't
00:18:17.260 demonize 74 million people you can't uh dismiss every one of their complaints with oh you're racist
00:18:25.980 oh you're sexist oh you're a nazi that is unfair it will not stand i'm not trying to defend the people
00:18:34.700 that stormed no no no there's you know i said last week there are really important reasons why this
00:18:41.580 happened there are no excuses there are important reasons and until the left and the media understands
00:18:49.900 their role in it you it's not that you just said you're bad people you're racist you have no place
00:18:55.820 here and we're coming after you they also at the same time have done everything in their power
00:19:02.300 to destroy their own credibility the the the media and the government has lied has twisted has done
00:19:13.180 everything everything everything that uh destroys any kind of honest give and take any kind of uh
00:19:22.780 trust that you've had so when you don't trust them at all and you say hey wait a minute i think there
00:19:28.780 might be a problem and then on top of it then you say i'm shutting everything down shut up sit down
00:19:36.860 this is of course they're surrounded the left surrounds themselves with behavioral scientists
00:19:41.980 they know exactly what caused this they they know exactly what glenn i hate to sound this naive or
00:19:51.100 or this uninformed but yesterday i had to ask someone what q anon was because i keep hearing it talked
00:20:01.180 about in the media but i didn't understand it and then someone explained it to me it was actually
00:20:06.140 gassed him explained it to me and i said hey uh the reason why something like q anon can grow in
00:20:15.420 popularity and take root is because of the failure of the media if the media did its job yeah there
00:20:23.020 would be far less conspiracy theories yes yes when you have when you have when you have jeffrey epstein
00:20:31.100 and all of the records and all of the stuff that he had all of the very powerful people he was
00:20:37.500 involved in go to jail he's killed under unusual circumstances and then it just goes away
00:20:47.820 of course conspiracies are going to come out of this of course because no one is saying wait a minute
00:20:54.380 wait a minute wait a minute that shouldn't have happened that never happens and we're still going
00:21:01.020 to pursue exactly what did happen and who was involved but they don't and so conspiracies grow out of that
00:21:10.380 when you sit on powerful television platforms and media outlets and say that russia can
00:21:19.660 collude colluded and or trump colluded with russia and they undermine the election and it was all
00:21:25.980 bogus bs but they did that for years people built television audiences off of that for years and then boom it
00:21:34.940 goes away but your conspiracy theory which has been proven as bogus just goes away there's no repercussions
00:21:43.660 from it there's no deep deep platforming of people because of it but on the other side
00:21:51.900 uh your theories are all evil you must be destroyed we must shut you down the hypocrisy is too easy to
00:22:00.380 spot for rational people living in reality not to react and say hey man this is just unfair that this
00:22:08.460 isn't america this this we're the free speech country well but that's that's one of our founding
00:22:18.380 principles and we're destroying it in a power political power grab and the the free speech that is
00:22:27.740 guaranteed is the free speech to question and petition your government for answers let me give you another
00:22:36.620 one you you know about the solar winds hack that uh happened what was it a month ago where the government
00:22:44.380 was was hacked into and it looks like it was russia that did this big hack do you remember this vaguely
00:22:50.860 okay um well it was everywhere for about a day everywhere it's a really big story well guess what was released at
00:23:00.620 two o'clock in the afternoon on wednesday last wednesday quote the u.s justice department has released
00:23:10.460 information now that they are the latest federal agency to say that it was breached by hackers in the
00:23:16.540 russia linked cyber attack that ripped through the government agencies so a month later they come out
00:23:22.700 and say three percent of the justice department's microsoft email accounts were potentially accessed in the
00:23:29.100 attack it happened on december 24th it uh has eliminated the identified method by which the actor was
00:23:37.020 uh assessing microsoft email accounts uh they were looking at and uh going through email accounts that
00:23:45.820 contain sensitive information about investigations and national security related issues why didn't you say this
00:23:56.060 when everybody else was uh what was announcing that they were attacked they were attacked and hacked on
00:24:03.500 the same in the same day and the same times as all of the other departments that already released this
00:24:10.060 why would you release this on the day when you know the news is all going to be about what the electors
00:24:19.500 actually being verified by the congress and then an extra gift of this that's the time and day they release
00:24:28.140 this this is the kind of stuff that leads to conspiracy theories why didn't you release it before why then
00:24:37.420 and glenn for the less sophisticated the the people that don't track the news as closely as you do
00:24:46.940 uh or others do but but the hunter biden story yes yes people can understand that
00:24:57.100 a baby can understand like wow that makes no sense anything about trump it's covered to the nth degree
00:25:07.980 here's hunter and potentially president-elect joe biden compromised and no coverage of it until after the
00:25:18.140 election right and it's still going to not really get coverage or an investigation is my guest uh is my
00:25:25.260 guess we have uh jason whitlock with us now jason i am going to sound like an idiot to you because i don't
00:25:33.180 follow sports and outkick and everything else but i read a story that you are leaving outkick didn't you
00:25:40.780 just join outkick yes uh listen i'm not i i i i don't want to uh go into too much detail okay but look i'm just
00:25:56.700 someone that uh you gotta deal honestly with and uh you gotta do what you say you're gonna do or
00:26:06.620 you know i you know i'm a rational person but uh i wasn't dealt with in an honest fashion and so i i i i
00:26:18.380 gotta move on well i'm sorry to hear that but you are now carving out your own uh career path
00:26:25.740 uh and uh because you've been at espn and you really helped espn and and then they looked at you
00:26:33.900 and like yeah we don't agree with you politically so beat it uh you are uh i assume you're building
00:26:41.900 something that is uh as bulletproof as possible in today's world today and this weekend must have
00:26:49.100 scared you a little bit yeah certainly but again as i said in the previous segment i've always believed
00:26:58.380 journalism other than the military is the most patriotic thing you could do and so
00:27:03.980 and even in the sports lane that i have been in if people have followed my work i've always included
00:27:11.180 themes that were larger than sports and tried to explain america to sports fans and so i want to
00:27:18.220 continue down that path i i believe journalism is my contribution uh to this country and trying to
00:27:27.020 wake people up and give them the facts and uh from my point of view uh and give them the information so
00:27:36.300 that they can make better decisions we have a very uninformed public right now because the mainstream
00:27:43.100 media has completely failed them that's why there's so much confusion and chaos that's why again when
00:27:49.580 you just talk about this false reality that people live in lebron james and other influencers uh that
00:27:56.780 are curry in favor with china keep explaining to people oh my god uh if if that were black people that
00:28:03.740 had stormed the capital what would have happened they would have all been slaughtered and and i'm i'm like
00:28:09.500 hey man have you not watched what went on this entire summer with black lives matter and antifa
00:28:16.620 burning buildings murders of police officers as you said in your uh blaze editorial uh there are
00:28:24.860 two americas with two separate realities this is the best of the glenn beck program and don't forget
00:28:33.980 rate us on itunes
00:28:40.460 amy peekoff is the chief policy officer at the social media platform parlor which you're going to
00:28:48.460 have a hard time finding today because amazon has removed them uh amy is uh she has her bs in
00:28:58.060 math applied science her jd at ucla she served as an editor on the ucla law review after she got
00:29:06.060 her law degree she went to usc where she earned her phd in philosophy she has taught at southwestern
00:29:12.060 law school chapman university school of law and the united states air force academy also the university
00:29:18.380 of north carolina and university of texas so she really hasn't done a lot with her life
00:29:22.780 but we're going to cut her some slack today amy welcome to the program thanks glenn for having
00:29:30.300 me i'd be better if it was under good circumstances right so this is terrifying what is going on
00:29:37.980 uh and i think you guys are only the first you're not the last tell me what happened what's been going
00:29:44.700 on where where this whole thing stands you know so basically let me you know make one thing clear
00:29:52.620 which is that everybody agrees that all of this violence inciting content or if people are organizing
00:30:00.060 to have an insurrection etc that this content is wrong and doesn't belong correct but that content has
00:30:06.060 been everywhere in the last weeks and this is a very extraordinary time that we're living in if i may
00:30:13.580 if i may say if i may say amy it's not only everywhere on the left it is still online at twitter still online
00:30:24.940 yes yes okay and so in this context we feel that of course we are being treated unfairly
00:30:33.340 we were given no notice on friday we were told first by apple and then by amazon that if we didn't
00:30:41.100 meet their expectations as to the handling of this huge flood of content then they were just going to
00:30:47.740 drop us completely and you know we have a philosophical model at parlor that we both
00:30:53.020 were non-partisan that we believe in freedom of expression but at the same time we want to respect
00:30:58.700 privacy of users so that you know in the spirit of section 230 the people who post the content are the
00:31:06.860 ones who are responsible for the content we are responsible for the content so long as we're
00:31:11.100 taking reasonable steps once we become aware of the content and what's happening in the market because
00:31:17.740 you have the established players of facebook and twitter using these algorithms to scan content
00:31:23.980 constantly 24 7 whether you have any particular suspicion about a particular user or not your content is
00:31:30.940 scanned that's becoming the standard of what's reasonable on the internet and we say no we think
00:31:37.180 that's an orwellian standard and that we should go back to the model of the public square where if you
00:31:43.180 become aware that somebody is engaging in criminal activity you take the appropriate action which would
00:31:48.140 be banning or you know reporting to law enforcement or both right and humans are actually involved
00:31:55.260 um let me ask you first of all um apple did this amazon did this uh they kind of all dogpiled you on you
00:32:04.220 is this a violation of any antitrust laws you know that is unclear i'm not an antitrust law expert about
00:32:12.540 this so i'm going to leave that you know i i am an academic lawyer and i did a lot of research into the
00:32:19.180 theoretical foundations of privacy and i have a whole theory about that and that's why i'm at parlor right
00:32:24.460 because i share their affinity for privacy and for trying to implement it on the internet and
00:32:29.740 prevent 1984 from becoming reality right i know that's enough so so so vice is that we're being
00:32:36.540 pressured right we're pressured to conform to the exact same standards of content moderation and also
00:32:44.620 data mining and and uh you know algorithm scanning that our competitors use that these entrenched big
00:32:52.140 social media are using so they told us that if we would just if we would just uh you know build our
00:32:59.260 own platform that'd be fine now it's not build your own platform it is build your own platform uh create
00:33:06.860 your own cloud lay your own fiber i mean you're we're not welcome on anything uh anything you know we're
00:33:16.140 gonna have to have our own banks credit cards and processing for everything it's not reasonable
00:33:24.380 no exactly it's not reasonable and the people who have been the biggest detractors and the ones who
00:33:30.140 are really trying to take us down i think they need to ask themselves the question do they want to live
00:33:35.100 in the world in which every single piece of content that you put on the internet is scanned by some
00:33:41.420 algorithm for so-called wrong think 24 hours a day seven days a week now mind you i you know i agree
00:33:48.460 that this activity is illegal but once you introduce scanning you use that scanning for anything the
00:33:55.580 door is open and i think that you should not be surveilled in a free country unless there is some
00:34:01.500 particular suspicion about you that's the spirit of the fourth amendment that's what we've been
00:34:06.060 trying to do at parlor all right so you you agree with the speech that is uh plotting and planning
00:34:14.460 violence that that should be moderated and removed you just believe of course of course it's the
00:34:21.180 methodology that i disagree with okay i mean nobody and and you know at parlor our goal has been to
00:34:26.860 provide this non-partisan town square for productive discussions on the important issues of the day
00:34:33.740 and if anything stops productive discussions because it stops the thinking behind them it is
00:34:39.340 force or threat the force so of course we disagree with that content being on our platform we don't
00:34:44.620 want it there and what all of us every platform even the ones with the algorithm algorithms have been
00:34:50.540 struggling with is this huge flood of content in this extraordinary time uh you know on twitter we had
00:34:59.100 hang mike pence trending uh i think on saturday on saturday that was going on and they have the algorithm
00:35:05.900 but it was fine for them um we have a report from vice today that the that uh parlor has been hacked
00:35:15.500 into and 70 terabytes of information including our driver's license everything uh has uh fallen into
00:35:23.340 the hands of hackers is that true well first of all i know that it's been the policy of parlor not to
00:35:29.740 actually retain the driver's license that once a verification process is done that that is destroyed
00:35:36.140 the scan of it is destroyed so uh you know yes we we did collect it but we destroy it so i don't think
00:35:43.180 that that would be true i don't know about any hacking i have it has not been confirmed at all by our data
00:35:49.580 i mean our uh our tech team so yeah i mean we've had uh false accusations of hacks in the past okay
00:35:57.660 i haven't heard anything so that confirms this where does this stand um you're offline now have you had
00:36:05.500 have you has anyone reached out with an offer to to host uh parlor so many so many people so many
00:36:12.300 people right but the thing you also have to understand is it's been this cancel culture
00:36:17.340 you know rush as soon as apple did it then amazon sent theirs and then after other people got the
00:36:24.940 word of it everybody just suddenly dropped service and like you said earlier and i'm not a tech person
00:36:31.100 per se but there's different pieces of the puzzle and so we've had a number of different people who
00:36:37.180 have come in and said well we've got server and cloud and then there's other people and so we're trying
00:36:42.060 to put the pieces back together because it's a multi-part structure that we need to rebuild um
00:36:48.380 let me ask you this question because uh you got your phd in philosophy right yeah i mean i focused
00:36:55.580 on the right to privacy so i have a whole theory about the proper legal protection of privacy um
00:37:02.860 let me just ask you this this question you know i said last week there's no excuse for the violence
00:37:08.940 that happened inside the capital no excuse but there are many reasons why it happened and one of them
00:37:14.780 is suppressing thought suppressing um uh people's questions it forces people underground into private
00:37:25.180 groups it becomes they can become radicalized easily it's very dangerous let me ask you isn't all of this
00:37:33.980 censorship and all of the things to silence people isn't that a big part of the problem aren't isn't
00:37:41.820 big tech actually making this much worse you know definitely there are people who feel that if they don't
00:37:49.260 have any meaningful way of persuasion that their their options are few right so that is i think the frustration
00:37:57.580 what you see out there uh you know on friday when twitter banned the president a lot of people were flooding
00:38:06.220 over to parlor so if you think about the fact that we have been blamed for not supposedly you know
00:38:13.980 moderating to the extent of twitter although that's debatable because again the content's all over their site
00:38:20.540 as well you know imagine that on friday where we had not expected this huge rush this huge rush comes
00:38:27.980 over and it's precisely at that moment that we're told get it under control in 24 hours or 48 hours
00:38:35.180 or you're gone at exactly that time and and see if we went treated fairly by our suppliers i don't believe we have been
00:38:43.180 uh amy that we are in a mess and uh we wish you all the best and if there's anything we can do and
00:38:51.020 please stay in touch with us um you know as well as long as everybody is is understands freedom of speech
00:39:02.220 with the common sense you can't plot the overthrow of the united states if everybody understands exactly
00:39:09.100 well we are all on the same page um we are going to continue to do everything that we can to save
00:39:15.820 civil discourse free and open discourse on the internet while respecting privacy i promise we're on
00:39:22.060 it what about the idea of these big tech companies being private companies so they have a right to
00:39:26.780 violate freedom of speech certainly they have a right to do it okay but right now what we have is we
00:39:33.340 we have a few players who are very established who are dictating the terms and in fact mark zuckerberg
00:39:41.020 was you know facebook was taking out ads in the new york times recently calling for improved internet
00:39:47.100 regulations and what that means is that he would like to see regulations that mandate the sort of
00:39:53.100 content moderation standards that facebook uses if they want to make that decision for themselves that's
00:39:57.900 fine but they're even lobbying to have it put into law amy good luck chief policy officer at parlor again
00:40:06.540 we stand behind freedom of speech and we'll help you any way we can amy thank you so much thank you
