00:00:00.000 so do you think we're any closer to the truth on any of this stuff we're getting there i think

00:00:06.240 you know i mean i do think there's a big piece that came out from we didn't even talk about this

00:00:09.880 big piece that came out in vanity fair along with pro publico working together right right

00:00:14.200 to say that it looks like yeah more likely than not it was a lab leak that carl caused

00:00:18.760 19. i was shocked by that because they weren't banned yeah they were not banned and so it's okay

00:00:24.780 to do this reporting in retrospect you can say hey you know what wow what an amazing thing time

00:00:30.380 that was when we all thought that it was it was it was uh it was um you know that that's that's

00:00:36.180 you don't even have to go there i have to fact check you on that we all didn't yeah we all didn't

00:00:41.040 think that's the point there's a lot of people saying wait a minute this this and this does not

00:00:44.840 add up what's the problem here and then we were all kicked off of social media so no one heard it

00:00:48.460 from us again we are in that window right now we're a week from an election and they are not going to

00:00:54.700 let anything come out that that screws up this narrative no after after the election come out

00:00:59.100 that uh will screw with the election just not against the republic or the democrats what they

00:01:04.200 want to be the narrative will be the narrative for the next week you got to be really on your toes

00:01:08.160 right now hey tomorrow we start live streaming the first hour of this podcast uh on youtube in case

00:01:13.700 you want to watch it uh yeah that's like fun yeah and help us get to a uh a million subscribers

00:01:24.620 focused on it unfortunately yeah unfortunately yeah i kind of wish we had a yeah done that

00:01:29.120 earlier well i mean stephen crowder was just banned from youtube until after the election isn't that

00:01:34.060 interesting this is what i'm talking about yeah i know i know so we'll see how long we last in the

00:01:40.400 next five days uh but it's on youtube and today's show is great we talk about paul pelosi nancy pelosi

00:03:33.040 hello you sick twisted freak welcome to mr pat gray from pat gray unleashed hello pat hello glenn oh 0.97

00:03:46.040 it's good to have you love your costume that is the best mask i've ever seen thank you scary as hell 0.98

00:03:52.760 yeah really i know yeah uh so eight hours really yeah eight hours really this mask holy cow yeah

00:04:00.640 it's uh well it's good good it's good don't know exactly who you're supposed to be but uh it's really

00:04:06.140 good so what are your thoughts on the nancy pelosi uh shooting i think there's what wait what what

00:04:14.640 story are you breaking a new one no no no the nancy pelosi's husband being hammered

00:04:19.760 i can't do you say that either that's a whole different story that's a whole different earlier

00:04:24.280 the the debacle that happened at the pelosi compound yeah well that's right wing kooks for you isn't it

00:04:32.200 that's what they do that's what they do white supremacists and uh maga republicans that's what 0.88

00:04:39.100 they do mega maga mega maga republicans who are incredibly violent i think we're gonna find uh 0.94

00:04:46.320 i think there's some other things going on i mean the guy when you go to his house michael

00:04:50.500 schellenberger did a really good article he's joining us by the way in about half an hour yeah

00:04:54.500 oh yeah it's really good i mean go to his house and take a look around and then tell me the guy's

00:04:59.920 a right wing right maga republican right he's living black lives matter he's living in a bus he's

00:05:06.860 practically homeless he's he's not that you can't be a maga republican and be homeless i just

00:05:13.060 don't know that many but um do you know a lot of homeless people a few a few do you yeah huh

00:05:19.420 uh and they have you offered them maybe some help a hand yeah a sandwich but then i got fined for it

00:05:25.180 you can't feed them all right uh unless the you could help house the homeless um but uh but then

00:05:31.620 the the lgbt rainbow flag is another telltale sign of maga republicanism i mean there's so many

00:05:38.900 the blm sign the blm sign all of that is when the hemp bracelet making that how many hemp bracelets

00:05:44.760 have you made right between the necklaces and the hemp bracelets and the fact that he was i don't know

00:05:52.300 if it was a traditional marriage but married to the other girl uh who had a nude wedding in san

00:06:01.700 francisco city hall and there does seem to be some nudism going on yeah and and she also got her 0.99

00:06:09.340 older son to try to deliver love letters to this underage boy that she wanted to escape with i mean

00:06:17.920 if it's not the moral majority i don't know what the moral majority is it's it's like i listen to i can't

00:06:26.320 even tell you how many uh you know mainstream media podcasts this weekend to try to get to try to

00:06:32.240 understand right the narrative and what they were telling us and what was true because i want i'd like

00:06:37.060 to know we have to know we have to know and i if if the viewpoint is that this person was a left-wing

00:06:45.740 hippie nudist for many many years who over the recent future went through some sort of transformation

00:06:51.460 and became a right-wing figure i don't blame the democrats i don't blame the democrats i don't

00:06:56.200 blame the republicans for that but i do blame the media because every single one of these stories

00:07:02.100 went through the recent posting including uh well this person followed glenn beck of the daily wire

00:07:08.480 uh he jordan peterson jordan peterson that was just right-wing uh people that he followed on his

00:07:16.780 facebook but just recently yeah just recently he found us include though his entire left like

00:07:22.880 the fact that his house is the antichrist no no yeah yeah jesus well that's another thing what you

00:07:29.360 know if you listen to this program how anti-jesus we are right you can see why he's a fan um but he

00:07:35.460 also believed he was jesus for it seems like over a year he believed he was jesus but like you how can

00:07:42.660 if you are an honest media organization and i know i wasn't listening to them which is the problem

00:07:48.380 here but like if you were honest you would mention both right you might mention okay look he has some

00:07:53.800 conspiracy theories on there he had anti-semitism on there he had left-wing nudism stuff his he had a

00:07:59.100 blm sign i mean it's easy i think to come to the conclusion that this was not a story of political

00:08:05.260 extremism it was a story of someone who did drugs for multiple decades and blew his mind up and was not

00:08:12.340 he's not but here's the thing they're even saying i don't remember which paper it was one of the you

00:08:17.920 know la times new york times or the post but they're saying even even if he was crazy it's still that

00:08:24.820 dangerous rhetoric that fed into his head well let me ask you this did we ban jodie foster

00:08:32.440 i mean when hinckley said i just i wanted to impress her because i love her and i watch all of her

00:08:39.840 movies and i thought this would impress her and he tried to kill ronald reagan was there one peep

00:08:46.780 of saying this is jodie foster's we gotta put pants and a big coat on that woman make sure she looks 1.00

00:08:54.380 very unattractive or banner movies no no there was no talk of that and of course that would be the

00:09:01.200 same approach to a story like that yes just like by the way we did not blame bernie sanders for his

00:09:07.060 own his campaign volunteer trying to shoot 10 of all electric elected republicans in washington dc

00:09:12.920 yeah by the way um can i ask why the concern here about this guy and the guy who flew in i think from

00:09:25.020 san francisco to kill kavanaugh yeah much more recently just it was just like gone yeah they

00:09:32.220 didn't care nobody didn't even cover it nobody cared do we do you know that the sunday news

00:09:38.220 programs that week didn't even cover the kavanaugh story didn't cover it didn't even cover it didn't

00:09:43.720 mention it my god didn't cover it now of course the difference here is number one they get to blame

00:09:48.820 the other side and number two we are eight days away from an election and they will do anything to

00:09:53.960 anything to get to get these seats to go the right way so they will not report we are in the hunter

00:09:59.540 biden window here we learn about the truth of hunter biden from the mainstream media approximately one

00:10:06.180 year after it's relevant to an election and one year before it's relevant to an election as far away from

00:10:11.980 an election as possible well now that we're weak we are in full-fledged hunter biden uh the hunter biden

00:10:17.860 window where the media seems to have completely convinced themselves they can abandon all

00:10:24.980 all appearance of journalism to try to win this election to do anything they can to flip one or

00:10:33.700 two seats here or there in a in an area that might have gone red make them go blue anything we can do

00:10:39.620 that's where they are right now so you really the mainstream media is all never has a uh a sufficient

00:10:45.640 uh bank of trust that we should all be um believing exists but i will say now you have to you can't

00:10:52.120 believe anything they say you can't believe anything they say for the next week you can't i have to tell

00:10:56.380 you um they they say you know all these crazy conspiracies what like the one that hillary clinton is

00:11:04.300 currently pushing about the 2024 election saying that it's all going to be stolen by the republicans all

00:11:09.920 saying this uh that that there is this giant cabal of mega people out there that just want to destroy

00:11:16.360 the country that we're against a democracy which in a way we are we're for a republic not a democracy

00:11:25.020 but that's beside the point all of these things that they have been saying russia gate all of this

00:11:32.120 joe biden is clean there's no he's the cleanest clean guy fetterman is completely healthy and ready to

00:11:39.420 serve this is incredible coming from these people and they wonder why conspiracy theories bubble up

00:11:48.460 well because somebody thinks something's wrong and let me use let me use the left or the right

00:11:56.480 doing something wrong that causes conspiracy theories the 9-11 commission um excusing uh what was his

00:12:06.380 name that came out with the underpants sandy burger who went into the national archives now think of

00:12:12.120 this with what we've just gone through with donald trump sandy burger goes in asks for the presidential

00:12:20.920 archives for george hw bush and uh bill clinton opens them up it's about saudi arabia something about

00:12:29.340 relationships we don't really know any more than that puts it in his underpants leaves goes across the

00:12:37.680 street destroys a few by the time the national archives run out to catch him and get the rest of

00:12:46.320 the and he's only lou he only lost his security clearance for a year you want to know why there's a

00:12:55.220 conspiracy theory around 9-11 because you didn't explain that you didn't come clean and explain that

00:13:03.860 and so people fill in the blanks when something doesn't make sense they try to make sense of it

00:13:11.840 and anyone who is giving them lines of bullcrap and just doesn't say what we said earlier this morning

00:13:19.740 we don't know what happened but here are some questions that need to be answered those people

00:13:27.560 are not furthering conspiracy theories those people who ask questions are the ones that create the

00:13:36.420 conspiracy are the the ones who create the conspiracy theory look at people like us and say

00:13:42.400 could they're even questioning this how could they possibly question this we told you what it was

00:13:48.880 okay show us just show us the tape just show us the tape of the guy getting in that that would that

00:13:56.340 would help show us um explain to us why he downloaded all of those posts these crazy posts

00:14:05.920 why did he post them all in one day can you explain that and that's fine if he did maybe he did it that 0.70

00:14:13.540 way but that seems weird something that would be notable i mean look he is i think he is insane and

00:14:21.940 i think he's has a massive drug problem and so there's the number one thing there's the number one

00:14:26.340 thing did you not did you know that he was in the hospital and not jail i didn't know no did you no yeah

00:14:32.840 neither did i neither did i till this morning he's in the hospital well okay was he hurt or is that a

00:14:41.540 psychiatric hospital because that's some important information where's the answer on that right now the

00:14:52.120 only goal is to make sure that republicans are blamed for this yeah so that votes can be cast

00:14:57.180 yeah in the right direction well here's the thing um i think this makes people uh even more determined to

00:15:05.200 vote you must end this madness it has to end it has to end and the first step is voting on tuesday

00:15:16.040 and not just forget about just the national politics look at your local politics i told my family the

00:15:25.860 day for the first time in my life republican lever all the way down i've never done that never have i done

00:15:32.700 that all the way down well you mean you've never voted like straight party ticket hitting the lever

00:15:39.340 that does all yeah basically yeah and i tell you um we need people in our states we have a chance of

00:15:49.420 of having i think 40 states or 37 states that would be all republican republican governor republican uh

00:15:58.900 it's like in the 20s that it would be republican house and senate so the legislature and everybody

00:16:04.520 involved would be a republican yeah that that will stop the nonsense in washington states have the power 0.97

00:16:12.140 to do it and i'm thrilled to see that people are acting locally you're listening to the best of the

00:16:23.280 glenn beck program michael how are you sir great great to be back glenn yeah thank you so much for

00:16:33.400 all your hard work on this well thank you for uh having me on i'm excited to talk about it uh okay so

00:16:38.740 tell me tell me what you have found what's true what's not true well look what we know is that this

00:16:47.380 is somebody who according to multiple witnesses including the mother of his children was struggling

00:16:53.380 with mental illness for over a decade we know he was homeless for a while we know there was extensive

00:16:59.240 drug use you know we mental illness serious mental illness like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are

00:17:05.300 pretty rare but we do see a lot of drug-induced mental illness and particularly from methamphetamine use

00:17:12.780 but certainly other drugs over time can cause psychosis which is of course the the classic

00:17:19.060 you know insanity of not being able to tell the difference between reality and your imagination

00:17:23.940 and so what's obvious here is that the alleged suspect in the attack on nancy pelosi's husband

00:17:30.760 was in the grip of psychosis and um to blame political ideology is just what you said it's the

00:17:39.080 equivalent of blaming martin scorsese for making the movie taxi driver on john hinckley jr's attack

00:17:45.420 on ronald reagan it's it's the this the the crazy ideas expressed in the blog posts of the alleged

00:17:52.840 attacker of pelosi are themselves symptoms of the underlying psychosis it's incorrect to point to them

00:17:59.360 as the cause uh so it well i heard this morning that he is in the hospital or was this weekend

00:18:06.620 were those for injuries or is he in a psych ward we i don't know um i it could be both you know

00:18:15.300 i think if he's uh you know if he it wouldn't he wouldn't be hospitalized long term if he's in the

00:18:22.140 hospital he'll be held he'll be diagnosed by a psychiatrist and we'll find out soon i mean i think that

00:18:29.720 the good news is that we the truth gets out it was obvious to me because of course i'm very close to

00:18:36.000 this i wrote a whole book about this came out last year it was obvious to me as soon as i heard about

00:18:40.960 who he was and started talking to his neighbors and his family members that this was somebody that

00:18:47.840 was unwell and this was a result of a sickness i was disturbed by how quickly even so-called

00:18:54.720 mainstream journalists were to basically go and blame conservatives blame republicans blame trump

00:19:00.680 um you know if somebody were to be like i read michael schellenberger's book and that's why i

00:19:06.600 committed this crime it would be inappropriate to to blame me for that crime and i think everybody

00:19:12.560 knows that but in this toxic political environment i think it's important to remind people of that we

00:19:18.880 never blamed bernie sanders ever in fact we were clear on day one that it wasn't bernie sanders fault that 0.87

00:19:26.200 one of his supporters went and tried to kill all the republicans in congress it's ridiculous of course

00:19:33.200 yeah i mean i was sorry to see i mean basically i had one episode in particular there's a reporter

00:19:39.320 who supposedly like focused on disinformation at nbc news who came out and he tweeted at my my reporting

00:19:48.300 and said oh um my reporting had been debunked because there's all these blog posts showing that the

00:19:55.260 suspect in the attack had written crazy things including some right-wing things but also things

00:20:01.140 about fairies and demons and i i found it very disturbing because i i have a hard time believing

00:20:08.760 that that journalist didn't know that what was driving the suspect was psych was mental illness or

00:20:16.980 psychosis it really appeared that he was deliberately misleading people in order to engage in partisan political

00:20:24.600 behavior just 10 days before an election and it's not a just thing it's not just on twitter i mean if

00:20:29.520 you watch meet the press yesterday chuck todd's program on nbc the whole program was basically

00:20:35.300 dedicated to this topic and at no point in any of the program did they even discuss the fact that the

00:20:41.440 suspect was clearly in a psychotic state suffering from delusions under long-term drug use instead chuck todd

00:20:48.100 um made the whole show about political radicalization and ideas and i just think that's terrible reporting i think it's very partisan

00:20:56.640 i won't speculate as to the motives of the journalists but it's either bad journalism or it's it's motivated by politics

00:21:04.300 is it worse that they did that or that when kavanaugh the guy from california came to kill kavanaugh

00:21:11.020 they didn't even report it on any of the sunday morning shows

00:21:15.520 well i mean that's the other thing and i wrote a post about this yesterday

00:21:19.040 glenn and you're absolutely right i mean it's disturbing i i didn't really i saw when the kavanaugh

00:21:24.700 assassination happened of course i paid attention to it but i'll say this there are many progressive and liberal

00:21:30.280 people in my life who still do not know that there was a serious assassination plot against supreme court

00:21:37.760 justice brett kavanaugh because it was not covered correct in anything close to this so just as you

00:21:42.620 said three days after that assassination plot was revealed none of the sunday talk shows wrote about

00:21:47.800 it the new york times um buried the story on page a20 the pelosi assassination alleged assassination

00:21:54.620 attempt was on the front page of the new york times two days in a row you know and i'll tell you the

00:21:59.680 other thing about it is that the the the suspect in the kavanaugh killing was clearly motivated by his

00:22:06.920 pro-choice and his pro-gun control views and his own lawyers last week said that he was mentally fit

00:22:16.280 to stand trial in other words it appears and again there's still more information to come and i don't

00:22:21.160 want to get ahead of it but it appears as though the suspect in the kavanaugh plot was genuinely

00:22:27.200 motivated by political fanaticism not by mental illness whereas in the pelosi case he clearly was

00:22:34.180 driven by psychosis mental illness drug induced or or underlying we don't know but the media basically

00:22:40.920 reversed those two stories and did not and covered the pelosi plot attempt as though it were driven by

00:22:48.180 political fanaticism rather than by psychosis it really is incredible you are from the area michael and

00:22:54.660 you were down you were down there right these are some of these interviews we've seen you were there

00:22:59.360 right is that i was i was i mean i think it's um you know i'm a journalist at heart and so it's not

00:23:06.140 that far from my house and i went down there and i interviewed all the neighbors i mean i'll tell you

00:23:11.720 a couple of shocking things i i won't name names but i was not impressed by the reporting of the other

00:23:17.580 journalists um good journalism is that you go and knock on all the doors and you interview as many

00:23:22.520 people as you can i was the only one doing that um there was a lot of laziness here there's a lot

00:23:29.800 and it's also the partisanship and the laziness are related because if you have the idea that this was

00:23:34.420 you know a trump supporter who went after pelosi then you don't want to go and get to the bottom

00:23:40.000 of the other stuff you don't want to go do those interviews you want to stick with your little story

00:23:43.420 so that was um that was part of it and then you know like there's just it's a really you know when

00:23:50.280 you get into it glenn as you might imagine it's a tragic story i mean it's it's drug use it's

00:23:57.180 pedophilia the ex the the mother of his two kids is in prison for basically child molestation she was 0.69

00:24:05.960 a crazy person so she herself is something i think she probably has a personality disorder and also 0.99

00:24:12.680 long-term drug use the kids are in that house they apparently weren't going to school i mean this is 0.54

00:24:18.560 a real you know it's basically a symptom of exactly the problems i described in san francisco which is

00:24:23.800 that we've stopped enforcing basic laws and when you stop enforcing laws against people that are

00:24:30.300 suffering mental illness or are addicted to hard drugs they don't get the help they need and i think

00:24:35.640 that's part of the lesson here is that this tragedy could have been averted if we enforced basic

00:24:41.520 laws and mandated drug treatment and psychiatric care for the people who need it um you know it's

00:24:48.640 not that every time someone you arrest somebody for breaking a law that they have to go to prison

00:24:52.340 or they have to be punished certainly some people do but other people are just sick and i think the

00:24:57.440 track i think what we'll discover as as time goes on is that the suspect in the pelosi attack was

00:25:02.980 somebody who was very ill and needed to get treatment mandated many many years ago but didn't get it

00:25:08.940 because we're in the grip of frankly some pretty radical left uh political ideas did you see the

00:25:14.620 uh op-ed um by uh gosh who was it um uh shoot uh lost his name the guy who was who just wrote

00:25:25.780 um this weekend about the you know op-ed about tom cotton at the new york times and how yeah he he's a

00:25:34.460 he's an op-ed columnist and he even didn't say anything about it he said because we were afraid

00:25:42.120 to when you said a minute ago that you know they don't want to find it yeah how many are afraid

00:25:49.460 to do their job in burn in journalism well i was afraid i mean i think there's a lot of you know you

00:25:55.500 know my story i mean i came from the radical left i consider myself a moderate i'm an into politically

00:26:00.900 independent but yeah i mean i was afraid on everything and you know partly you worry about

00:26:06.360 losing your friends you worry about upsetting your family you worry about no longer being able to make

00:26:11.160 a living and you know what you're describing is a column by washington post reporter eric wemple

00:26:17.380 who writes a media column and and he basically to his credit um there was an ambivalent reaction

00:26:23.900 to it interestingly enough but basically to his credit he came out and said it was wrong for the

00:26:27.360 new york times to fire its op-ed page editor who ran of course this op-ed by senator cotton arguing

00:26:34.440 for the use of the of the national guard and u.s troops to put down the riots well he was not only

00:26:42.900 did the new york times because of the outrage by its woke journalist staff they basically denounced

00:26:49.680 the op-ed they fired the op-ed page editor everybody watched this happen and knew it was wrong and you

00:26:56.060 know so to his credit whatever it was like two years ago now um this columnist of the washington

00:27:01.700 posted that that was wrong you know i think it's good that you know it's better late than never and

00:27:07.140 he's one of the first people to say it but yeah i mean it's it's almost a it's a kind of um yeah it's

00:27:12.560 social fear you're worried about your friends and your family but it's also a financial fear like

00:27:16.620 am i getting it fired from my job you know this is um this is really serious stuff and i think that

00:27:22.720 the partisanship and you always emphasize this i think it's so important you know we need to allow

00:27:28.400 disagreement in our society we need to appreciate and reward it i always kind of i'm always shocked

00:27:35.000 by how many people instead of being like oh i disagree with you they're like you should stop

00:27:40.480 saying that right right right uh we're with michael schellenberger i think michael because you have

00:27:49.120 experience in your family with schizophrenia i think it was your aunt yeah yes um so you've seen

00:27:55.780 it firsthand can you well yeah i mean it's interesting of course you know when you're a child

00:28:00.260 you know and and you know she she would say crazy things you know and so your parents have to explain

00:28:07.860 to you what that what's going on and it is a little scary of course it helps to have your parents there

00:28:13.360 to kind of talk you through it but yeah she thought that the president of the united states i think at

00:28:18.660 the time it was ford or yeah i think it was ford and nixon that they were communicating with her

00:28:23.360 directly through the television set you know so i think there's a reaction that people have to this

00:28:29.100 case where they go okay maybe he was psychotic but there's all these terrible conspiracy theories out

00:28:37.540 there and those need to stop well no first of all there's like we have freedom of speech and that

00:28:44.120 means that we actually let people have conspiracy theories we let people believe all sorts of things

00:28:49.040 that's a point of a free society so the idea that we're going to get rid of certain ideas is a very bad

00:28:55.040 road to go down but the more the other thing is just that psychotic people will always find some

00:29:01.000 justification for their behaviors that's different than suggesting that those are the motivations i do

00:29:07.280 think this is something that people can get but they have to think about it for a minute which is

00:29:11.960 that and we know this is true for everybody right is that like you have a motivation to do something

00:29:17.440 but you might give a different reason for why you did it well people that are psychotic they give

00:29:23.320 crazier reasons often but in many cases like i look at this case and i suspect glenn that what we'll discover

00:29:29.700 is that this is somebody who was you know he's lost he lost his wife and kids um he didn't wasn't

00:29:37.300 able to hold down a good job he was using heavy drugs his motivation was probably to somehow make his

00:29:43.700 life better as crazy as that sounds to be a hero or something like that he had some story in his head

00:29:49.420 about how he was gonna become a hero for this is how often these guys think by making this attack and

00:29:55.180 that that's ultimately what was driving it not not like you know not radical so i but i there are

00:30:03.120 some there are a few things about the story that i don't know if they're true or not i i you know i i

00:30:10.180 look at these things and the reason why we have a plethora of conspiracy theories is because we no

00:30:17.340 longer trust the media we no longer trust the government to tell us anything close to the truth and then there

00:30:24.280 are these things that just kind of hang out in the air and nobody explains them and it doesn't fit in

00:30:32.460 with the with the storyline that the media is is uh going for first of all does that make sense to

00:30:39.940 you you think that's right yeah sure i mean look here's here you know the media they're they're

00:30:44.520 partisan now right and maybe it's maybe they've always been although i do think there's no doubt that

00:30:49.380 it's gotten worse yeah much worse so when this happened they rushed to make this a story about

00:30:54.760 why you should not vote for republicans the best of the glenbeck program

00:31:02.980 john ziegler is with us he's got a new podcast out which is fantastic i listened to it this weekend

00:31:16.280 the death of journalism he is the co-host there and we have several things we want to talk to him

00:31:22.900 about that uh that uh come about with the death of journalism hello john how are you i'm doing well

00:31:29.540 happy halloween yeah yeah yeah well you sound like you're in the mood um well i got two young kids it's

00:31:37.380 a big holiday oh yeah yeah i know okay so so john let's start in um san francisco with paul pelosi

00:31:44.720 what is your take on this you know being a guy who when given a bone never ever releases it

00:31:52.740 what is really happening here well um i have a pretty unique take on this one um i think everybody's

00:32:00.980 wrong um the the as your guest in the last hour uh said uh there's no question that the initial

00:32:08.440 left-wing narrative that this was some sort of a maga attack is utterly ridiculous i do not believe

00:32:15.960 in that at all um i am very suspicious of the where's nancy comment and that could have been

00:32:22.360 either not said or or been said in a very very different context um i think that um there's a lot

00:32:29.820 of unanswered questions here i totally get the skepticism and the skepticism glenn on the right

00:32:35.480 on this story is off the charts i've been spending most of the last three days on social media

00:32:41.060 interacting with people about this and there is absolutely no trust at all in the official version

00:32:47.500 of events and i understand i mean there's no question there should the 9-1-1 call should be

00:32:51.940 released the body cam footage security footage i have i understand why people are asking questions

00:32:58.980 about this official narrative because the official narrative is utterly hilarious right but you but

00:33:03.400 you do have to uh you do have to uh recognize at some point the media has to that they're the ones

00:33:11.860 causing uh the conspiracy theories by not just laying the evidence out i glenn what you just said

00:33:21.520 there's the most important point of any and all this it's way bigger than what really did or did not

00:33:26.220 happen with paul pelosi and it's a large part of our podcast the death of journalism and for instance

00:33:31.360 you know the election conspiracies i blame the news media for a large part of that because of

00:33:36.800 the way they treated you know you know how i feel about donald trump they treated trump horrendously

00:33:40.960 for four years so it's not a shock that his supporters don't trust you when you tell them

00:33:46.300 that the election was right so that's the media's fault not entirely but in large part but let's let

00:33:53.080 me go back to pelosi for a second so we're prefacing my my answer to your very good question with

00:33:58.640 i totally get the skepticism and i totally get i really get the deep deep desire people on the

00:34:05.960 right for the left to eat it on this because of their their rush to judgment that this was a maga guy

00:34:11.720 but what elon musk did uh with the tweeting of the the gay sex gone wrong theory and dinesh

00:34:19.960 jesus and some other very prominent right-wingers jumping all over that i think was a huge mistake

00:34:25.620 uh because i don't think that theory makes any sense either sometimes really strange things

00:34:31.740 happen right some sometimes jeffrey epstein really kills himself in prison and somehow is able to do

00:34:38.740 that sometimes oj simpson kills his wife and a friend who just happens to be coming by at that

00:34:45.280 moment i mean that's the way life is often very weird now i'm not saying again we shouldn't be asking 0.93

00:34:52.120 questions we should especially this close to an election but um the the gay sex gone wrong theory

00:34:58.300 i have huge problems with and i think that you know in a way here conservatives should have

00:35:04.280 focused on debunking the maga myth and making this a crime issue and basically turned uh you know to use

00:35:12.900 a sports analogy a field goal into potentially a going for on fourth down throwing a pick six i i just i

00:35:18.980 don't i don't like the conservatives are doing what liberals are doing which is rushing to judgment

00:35:23.460 without all the facts right and and that's i think very troublesome this is a problem on both sides

00:35:29.420 but the left clearly started this so let's uh so so let's go through a couple of things that don't

00:35:36.120 make sense to you that you think need to be explained well i think a large part of what's happening on the

00:35:43.600 right is that the fog of war is being interpreted in a way that they want to see the story go and

00:35:52.700 and glenn you know i've become very well known for debunking these types of stories right and i have a

00:35:57.560 rule i have a rule that if i want an outcome to be the case i am requiring two or three times as much

00:36:05.260 evidence yeah me to push me in that direction right yep you you have to do it that way because you have

00:36:10.880 to adjust for your own biases and instead conservatives or people on the right on this

00:36:16.920 story are going in the other direction they're taking fragments of stuff that happened in the

00:36:22.420 middle of the night in the initial report let's be clear let's blame the media again the news media

00:36:27.160 is not just terrible because they're biased they're terrible when it comes to getting details right

00:36:31.980 all right they're just awful and so so there are elements of the original reporting that are still

00:36:38.340 being used like for instance that there was a third person that opened the door that that uh the

00:36:43.700 the you know the that uh pelosi referred to the suspect as a friend well those that the suspect may

00:36:50.100 have been totally uh either naked or it is underwear all those things are now in dispute and they're

00:36:55.800 important parts of this counter narrative hang on just a second i the the one that says he was a

00:37:01.640 friend is i don't believe in dispute i think that's actually on the tape and i i i think it actually

00:37:08.100 works to say that the story is uh as uh as you believe it is and as i believe it is this nut job

00:37:16.700 comes in the house i think paul pelosi was uh speaking somewhat in code um because he said uh yes he's

00:37:26.500 waiting for my wife uh he's gonna wait for my wife and and he's a friend um and i think he was i think

00:37:34.240 he was playing that to the police because uh they were just going to do regular dispatch but the lady 1.00

00:37:40.780 felt the the woman who was at dispatch uh felt something uh was really wrong and hit the i don't

00:37:48.760 know what you call the red alert but had everybody raced to the place because she knew he didn't sound

00:37:55.400 right that's a good that's really good analysis there uh glenn and um and so what you know and

00:38:01.820 you're using the kind of thought process i use i go through okay what's the official story and is

00:38:06.680 there a plausible explanation for everything that we have been told and that is a very plausible

00:38:11.680 explanation because we know this guy was nuts okay right we know that so how but but can you be 0.76

00:38:17.880 nuts and uh take a website that's been there for 15 years and dormant uh and all of a sudden hop on a 0.96

00:38:28.480 few days before and post stuff that looks like you've been posting for a year or so right and it's

00:38:36.300 all crazy stuff well that that's a very good question these are and i totally agree that that

00:38:42.760 should be investigated fully and that where there should be high suspicion towards anything that

00:38:47.500 points towards the the maga attack theory on this because that is is a situation that very much

00:38:54.720 like i already excoriated the right for the left desperately wants to be true right it's always

00:39:00.600 it's always one of the key points in evaluating any of these stories how much does the media want it to

00:39:05.800 be true and they desperately 10 days before an election want the maga attack story to be true uh so

00:39:13.560 i guess i'm saying a pox on both on all sides here but i you know the i wish why can't we just wait

00:39:20.740 why can't we just wait for the facts now and and and demand that the footage be released the 9-1-1 call

00:39:28.220 be released i mean this is a clearly a very politically charged story just before a major election

00:39:34.100 involving you know the husband of of nancy pelosi look i get that for conservatives it's very very

00:39:41.020 difficult to believe that a straight man could be married to nancy pelosi for all these years

00:39:45.400 i get it i get it right but i happen to know people have known paul pelosi since his days at

00:39:53.680 georgetown i went to georgetown my father went there there's no rumors about him being gay okay

00:39:58.860 those also you know what else there isn't glenn in the in the last three days since the story broke

00:40:03.560 there's nobody coming forward to say they've had gay sex with the suspect which you would expect would 0.86

00:40:08.620 be the case right with all the media coverage this is yes as in in created in created unless 0.98

00:40:14.640 hillary clinton had them all killed 0.91

00:40:18.020 john i forgot about that yeah right john i haven't seen as much i because i i have seen a couple posts

00:40:26.220 about the the this theory you're you're mentioning you know i i haven't seen as much coverage on that

00:40:31.120 so i don't know much about that part of it but i i do think that part of the reason why we don't get

00:40:35.940 the facts on this one right away is the election's eight days away this can't we can't know the whole

00:40:42.840 story here which appears to be just a lunatic doing something crazy uh we can't have that whole story

00:40:49.360 because they need to use it for eight days after eight days we'll have the same thing that we're

00:40:54.300 getting now with like let's say covid right where we're getting oh well maybe those lockdowns of the

00:40:58.740 schools weren't such a good idea we'll get those after the fact right we we they cannot give us

00:41:04.080 anything other than this was january 6 related at least for the next eight days i agree with that

00:41:09.480 totally um and it's frustrating as hell and i we should fight back against that with everything we

00:41:15.340 have that's i've already mentioned the elon musk thing and see that to me is what put that the gay 0.56

00:41:20.800 sex gone wrong theory into the stratosphere and and may have caused great damage because obviously

00:41:26.580 musk is under a microscope right now and he is being destroyed for having uh shared a a link that

00:41:34.660 i never would have even dreamed of uh sharing um and uh and and here he is you know obviously of great

00:41:41.780 prominence and being looked at with great scrutiny and i think he lost a lot of sway that he may have

00:41:49.320 had previously with people that are in the middle and now the media is making him into an enemy all over

00:41:54.720 a story that not only was incredible i don't you know is not true and i'll be shocked if it turns out

00:42:01.760 that this is anything close to what that theory entailed and like i said there were other prominent

00:42:07.640 right-wing commentators who jumped all over but still your point is really well taken the time

00:42:15.060 continuum with the media is a real issue because we're now living in an age where you've got to get

00:42:21.120 the story out immediately social media reacts we've come up with our own narratives that fit our own

00:42:25.820 priors and that's the story and we're sticking to it the truth doesn't matter and then by the time it

00:42:31.240 does come out no one cares anymore yeah can we spend a couple of minutes here on um james gordon meek

00:42:37.600 he's he's the guy who was an abc journalist working on a book about the disaster in afghanistan

00:42:44.920 was picked up by somebody in black vans in front of his house back in april there's witnesses to it

00:42:52.340 he was thrown into the van uh and then he hasn't been seen since and i was in a meeting yesterday and

00:43:00.160 we're in my guys were like we're not getting anywhere on this and i'm like oh i know somebody

00:43:06.580 i know somebody who won't sleep until he figures this one out um you've done an initial look into

00:43:15.360 this james gordon meek disappearance and what have you found well you know the reporting on this i find

00:43:22.540 to be very interesting uh because there there have been two major stories one by rolling stone one by

00:43:27.780 the daily beast which kind of contradict each other yes and in critical ways and i again it's hard to

00:43:35.440 determine all right uh what's incompetence by the news media which i'm always first that's always

00:43:40.780 where i go first uh in the modern news media is incompetence and i i frankly think that the rolling

00:43:46.200 stone story may have been uh greatly incompetent um you know it's a shame though glenn that we don't

00:43:52.560 have a news outlet that would be have a special entree into this story i don't know like abc news

00:43:59.820 yeah like where the guy where the guy worked for years and was very very prominent and you know

00:44:06.520 and apparently they're scrubbing from news stories that he was the producer for david muir uh you know

00:44:12.120 because we're going to pretend that this guy never existed before um look this is one of those this is

00:44:18.080 one of those classic stories that exposes a lot of what we talked about in the previous segment

00:44:22.640 that the lack of trust in all institutions the media the fbi uh you know all elements of our

00:44:30.840 government is so low so catastrophically low that all bets are off now and that all questions are

00:44:37.460 are relevant and even sometimes things that end up being conspiracy theories come from very rational

00:44:42.980 people because that's the world we're now living in that we we know we no longer have any reason to

00:44:48.780 trust what we're being told and that's the really scary part as far as what really happened here you

00:44:54.980 know the the theory that this didn't have anything to do with his abc work i think makes some sense

00:45:00.980 because there's no evidence that he went to abc and said hey protect me here because that would make

00:45:08.840 some sense right if you if you're if you're working at abc and you know you're being accused of having

00:45:13.740 like classified information related to your work the first thing you're going to do to protect

00:45:18.220 yourself is go to the giant abc use their lawyers right what have you that that did not happen here

00:45:24.740 so i wish we had more information this is a story i think we absolutely should keep an eye on

00:45:30.000 but i don't currently have an answer to the to the answer to the question what really happened there's

00:45:35.280 too many things here that just are just it's just wrong on it it needs it needs some answers and it might

00:45:42.340 be non-nefarious it might be the guy just uh you know just freaked out and living but there is it's

00:45:49.880 it's just too weird um john uh before you go i want to tell you i i listened to your uh your podcast

00:45:56.700 your who's your co-host what's her name liz habib she's a former news anchor and sports anchor here

00:46:03.240 in los angeles and a professor of journalism at syracuse university she if she told the story about

00:46:09.160 um you know losing was it her parents her mom yeah her mother on with covid and it it was so

00:46:17.620 powerful and that's where you're beginning the death of journalism is on uh covid and what

00:46:24.420 journalists did and didn't do powerful stuff john it's right up your alley really great podcast

00:46:30.920 thanks so much glenn i hope people check out the death of journalism appreciate your time you got it

00:46:34.860 john ziegler the death of journalism wherever you get your podcasts

00:46:38.620 you
