Drone sightings have been going on for days, and it s only getting worse. Glenn takes a look at the history of drones and drones, and how they were used in the past, and why we should be worried about them.
00:00:35.580Only really crazy people or in the insane days, we would call them possessed, has that kind of bloodthirst.
00:00:44.540These, most of the times, these are girls and women who feel trapped, who do not have any other choice.
00:00:53.120Because they have been convinced or allowed themselves to be convinced that that's not really a baby because they feel trapped, they don't know what else to do.
00:07:03.480That was the number one thing, and it was on, it was always in this chase in Sanborn hour.
00:07:08.900But they usually led with something kind of boring.
00:07:12.800And on this particular Sunday evening, the day before Halloween, a guy named Orson Welles, who was looking to make a name for himself for his radio program because he couldn't get past Charlie McCarthy,
00:07:26.100decided to do something that had never been done.
00:07:29.640He took an old novel set in England, H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds.
00:07:35.580And at 8 o'clock that night, he gives a quick little, like, one-minute opening.
00:07:43.620And you know it's a show, but remember, everyone at that time is tuned in to Chase and Sanborn to see who was on the show and when Charlie McCarthy was going to come on.
00:08:00.580The Columbia Broadcasting System and its affiliated stations present Orson Welles and the Mercury Theater on the air in The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells.
00:08:46.480Now, I want you to put yourself, not just what, and listen to what he's saying, but also listen to the words he's saying and apply them today.
00:09:03.040Now, he's just narrating, and he says, in the early 20th century, the world was worried that there were intelligences beyond our own, beyond our own capabilities.
00:09:51.760Is everything we're doing being scrutinized, monitored, cataloged?
00:09:59.140Is there an intelligence out there that knows us better than we know ourselves?
00:10:08.280With infinite complacence, people went to and fro over the earth about their little affairs, serene in the assurance of their dominion over this small, spinning fragment of solar driftwood, which by chance or design, man has inherited out of the dark mystery of time and space.
00:10:29.680Yet across an immense ethereal gulf, minds that are to our minds as ours are to the beasts in the jungle, intellects, vast, cool, and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.
00:10:52.080In the 39th year of the 20th century came the great disillusionment.
00:11:41.260Kind of like we all know Trump is coming into office and the war scare is over.
00:11:51.900Does anybody else see any parallels to what's happening to us right now?
00:11:59.320So he stops being the narrator and then he just becomes a character because nobody heard that part.
00:12:05.560They were listening for Charlie McCarthy and it was about this time that people started to dial surf and at this time they interrupt a program and say that there's been flashes off of Mars and they don't know what it is.
00:12:24.600And then there are things seen in the sky, lights seen in the sky over New York and New Jersey.
00:12:32.980And then something crashes in Grover's Mill.
00:12:37.340So they send a team from Trenton, New Jersey.
00:12:40.260They send the state police from Trenton, New Jersey to find out what it is.
00:12:47.880In a few minutes, the Pentagon, not the Pentagon at the time, the War Department or the the defense secretary will step to the microphone first and say, we have no idea what this is.
00:13:02.600And then they start broadcasting and listen to what happens.
00:13:10.440Now nearer home comes a special bulletin from Trenton, New Jersey.
00:13:14.260It is reported that at 8.50 p.m. a huge flaming object, believed to be a meteorite, fell on a farm in the neighborhood of Grover's Mill, New Jersey, 22 miles from Trenton.
00:13:23.660The flash in the sky was visible within a radius of several hundred miles and the noise of the impact was heard as far north as Elizabeth.
00:13:29.600We have dispatched a special mobile unit to the scene and we'll have our commentator, Carl Phillips, give you a word picture of the scene as soon as he can reach there from Princeton.
00:13:38.540In the meantime, we take you to the Hotel Martinette in Brooklyn, where Bobby Millett and his orchestra are offering a program of dance music.
00:13:45.920So you turn over from the other station and you just hear that news break and you're like, wow, that's weird.

01:41:47.600it does not make sense we're just looking up to cnn it's talking about these drones
01:42:06.240the white house says that they're they don't know what it is
01:42:11.720but there's nothing to worry about how could you possibly say that that new jersey rep i think he's a democrat yeah he was like this is unacceptable that we can't identify them some of some of them but then he follows it right back up just like you said with yeah but we're not concerned that it's a public how would you know that it's not a public safety threat unless someone high up told you
01:42:32.640hey don't worry so weird so weird okay so let me show you how close we are to absolute insanity
01:42:42.940this is mark andresen on barry weiss uh just i think last week talking about a meeting last fall
01:42:52.280at the white house talking about ai listen we had meetings uh in dc in may uh where we we talked to
01:43:00.140them about this and the meetings were absolutely horrifying and we came out basically deciding we had
01:43:04.240to endorse trump um and then add so little color to absolutely horrifying what what what did you hear
01:43:10.700in those meetings they said look ai ai is one of these technology ai is a technology basically that the
01:43:15.380government is going to completely control um this is not going to be a startup thing they actually said
01:43:19.780flat out to us don't start don't do ai startups like don't don't fund ai startups it's not something
01:43:25.020that we're going to allow to happen um they're not going to be allowed to exist uh there's no point
01:43:29.000um they basically said ai is going to be a game of two or three big companies um working closely with
01:43:34.040the government um and we're going to basically wrap them in a you know they i'm paraphrasing but we're
01:43:39.040going to basically wrap them in a government cocoon uh we're going to protect them from competition
01:43:42.780we're going to control them um and we're going to dictate what they do um and then i said well i said i don't
01:43:48.980understand how you're going to lock this down so much because like the math for you know ai is like
01:43:52.980out there and it's being taught everywhere and you know they literally said well you know during the
01:43:56.560cold war we we classified entire areas of physics um and took them out of the research community and
01:44:02.200and and and and like entire branches of physics basically went dark and didn't proceed um and that
01:44:06.980if we if we decide we need to we're going to do the same thing to math to the math underneath ai
01:44:10.420um wow and i said i've just learned two very important things
01:44:15.220because i wasn't aware of the former and i wasn't aware that you were you know even conceiving of
01:44:20.700doing it to the latter um and so they basically just said yeah we're going to look we're going
01:44:24.280to take total control the entire thing and just don't don't and what was there and mark what was
01:44:27.440steel man it for the listener like what was their argument why well it's so this gets into this
01:44:32.960whole like all these debates around like ai safety um ai policy so there's sort of several
01:44:36.780dimensions on it and i'll do my best to steal man it so one is just like to the extent that this
01:44:40.280stuff is relevant to the military which it is like if you draw an analogy between ai on autonomous
01:44:45.820weapons being like the new thing that's going to determine who wins and loses wars then you draw an
01:44:50.500analogy to the in the cold war that was nuclear that was nuclear power and that was the atomic bomb
01:44:54.420um and you know the federal government the steel man would be the federal government didn't let
01:44:58.680startups go out and build atomic bombs right you you had you know the manhattan project and
01:45:03.900everything was classified and you know at least according to them they classified down to the level of
01:45:08.660actual mathematics um and um and uh you know they tightly controlled everything and that and look
01:45:14.000you know that that determined a lot of the you know the shape of the world right um and so there's
01:45:17.800that and then look there there's there's the other that that's that's part one and then look i think
01:45:21.300part two is there's the social control aspect to it um which you which is where the the censorship
01:45:26.420stuff comes comes right back which is the the exact same dynamic we've had with social media
01:45:30.480censorship and how it's basically been weaponized and how and how the government became entwined with
01:45:35.020social media censorship which is one of the real scandals of the last decade and a real problem
01:45:38.840like a real constitutional problem um like i that is happening at at like hyperspeed and ai um and you
01:45:45.560know these are the same people who have been using social media censorship against their political
01:45:49.300enemies these are the same people who have been doing debanking against their political enemies and
01:45:53.680they basically i think they want to do they want to use ai the same way um and then look i think the
01:45:58.340third is i think this jet this generation of democrats the ones in the white house under biden they
01:46:02.920became very anti-capitalist um and they wanted to go back to much more of a centralized controlled
01:46:07.700planned economy and you saw that in many aspects of their policy but i think quite frankly they think
01:46:12.140that the idea that the private sector plays an important role is not high up on their priority list
01:46:15.780and they think generally companies are bad and capitalism is bad and entrepreneurs are bad and
01:46:19.860they've said that a thousand different ways um and you know they they you know they demonize you
01:46:24.200entrepreneurs as much as they can i did yeah i mean that's kind of like the pentagon coming out and
01:46:33.560saying oh by the way uh ufos are real let's move on what he just said is you know it's true and the
01:46:44.040first one is the only one that you go okay well i kind of see that you know you don't want people
01:46:49.600making nuclear weapons you know but you're not going to it will only be very very very big companies
01:46:58.180because it'll be quantum computing with ai that will control everything so that'll only be government
01:47:05.400level or google level kind of companies that's scary enough but then when you put on top of that
01:47:12.260you put what he said then there's a social control aspect oh my gosh
01:47:19.300the world's about to change and you know where i started the show today was you know we we
01:47:30.020we have to know the truth this is why doge and everything else is so important they need to
01:47:36.220declassify all of this stuff we know we need to know what we can trust what's true what's not
01:47:42.200because uh otherwise everything runs out of our control entirely and we need to be able to trust
01:47:51.860and know are we being manipulated or not and the answer right now is absolutely yes
01:47:58.560owning a firearm is absolutely no joke it's not a game it's a serious thing it's a right wrapped
01:48:07.000inside of a responsibility and that responsibility part that includes being proficient when you're
01:48:12.560using them the last thing you want to do you've not picked up your gun and you know ever ever and
01:48:19.080somebody breaks into your house you're like where's that gun of mine i'm gonna go give you're gonna get
01:48:22.900yourself killed or or you're i mean you might end up shooting your foot or yourself it's not good it's
01:48:28.380not good um you have to be proficient which means you have to take the time to practice which means
01:48:34.840you usually have to go to the range which costs money and then you have to you know start using
