Transcript

00:00:00.000 The Blaze Radio Network, on demand.
00:00:06.600 Glenn Beck.
00:00:08.460 It's Tuesday, October 9th.
00:00:11.100 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:00:15.020 We have in Portland, Oregon, a mayor who has surrendered the town.
00:00:22.860 He has surrendered the town to Antifa.
00:00:25.880 They, apparently, not the police, can direct traffic now.
00:00:32.340 And the police were there.
00:00:34.520 They did nothing.
00:00:36.420 If you don't do what Antifa says you have to do, they'll threaten you.
00:00:48.060 America is at a crossroads.
00:00:52.800 We have to decide.
00:00:56.680 Or it will be decided for us.
00:01:02.160 My father taught me, when I was very young, the most powerful words in any language are these.
00:01:12.680 I am.
00:01:13.740 And the reason why they're so powerful is because whatever it is that you say after that, you begin to believe and you create.
00:01:26.500 What is America saying it is right now?
00:01:35.260 We are being told over and over again, we are worthless.
00:01:43.140 The Western way of life is worthless.
00:01:46.580 That America is not good, never has been.
00:01:51.220 In fact, it's a force for bad.
00:01:53.120 And unless we actively replace those things in our heads and the heads of those around us, we will be worthless.
00:02:05.420 And we will be a force for bad.
00:02:08.500 We are arguing about some of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
00:02:16.340 And we are missing what's really going on.
00:02:21.280 The world is being redesigned right now.
00:02:24.760 And so many of us are worried about the future.
00:02:27.500 Today, we'll see in the New York Times and elsewhere that the world only has 10 years and you have to be a hero in the next 10 years if you don't stop global warming.
00:02:40.380 Why we are all going to die.
00:02:46.060 So you must be a hero today.
00:02:49.260 And you have to take action.
00:02:52.740 The question is, what does that action look like?
00:02:59.820 Do any of the things that the environmentalists are actually proposing, do they help or hurt?
00:03:06.680 What the world looks like in 2030 depends on how we answer questions that we're supposedly arguing about right now.
00:03:21.140 We can try to avoid it.
00:03:24.060 We cannot listen.
00:03:25.160 We cannot pay attention.
00:03:27.720 But, as Bonhoeffer said, not to speak is to speak.
00:03:33.020 Not to stand is to stand.
00:03:34.920 No answer will count as our answer.
00:03:43.660 Will we all be remembered as winter soldiers and complicit with what I believe will be remembered as the greatest failure and crime in humanity's history?
00:04:02.040 Just standing by, waving your finger or waving the flag as the Western world burns?
00:04:11.080 I do not want to be part of the problem in America.
00:04:21.760 And I fail on that all the time.
00:04:26.060 We all do.
00:04:31.660 But what counts is the effort.
00:04:36.440 What counts is are you trying?
00:04:41.280 Are you trying?
00:04:42.220 And are you better today than you were yesterday?
00:04:45.540 Have you found any answers?
00:04:49.580 Or are you only shouting things down?
00:04:53.460 Are you just out in the street directing traffic?
00:04:59.260 Because you feel it's your right.
00:05:01.940 Well, have you even looked at what your rights mean?
00:05:05.600 Where do your rights even come from?
00:05:11.000 Today, I saw Think Progress write a whole article about how the Constitution has failed.
00:05:17.580 That was the headline.
00:05:18.960 The Constitution has failed.
00:05:23.060 And then it goes on to explain how it is really a slavery document.
00:05:28.300 And the three-fifths in the Constitution, all lies, all lies.
00:05:37.600 Now, you can argue that.
00:05:40.560 Or we can begin to teach our children.
00:05:44.080 You can argue that.
00:05:46.860 And you can throw it back in their face with some sort of epithet or name-calling of some sort.
00:05:58.300 Here's the question that we all have to answer.
00:06:06.960 Is America a force for good or a force for bad?
00:06:14.580 That requires real thought and discussion.
00:06:19.280 Because it is neither, in my opinion.
00:06:22.700 It is both.
00:06:24.600 It has been a force for bad.
00:06:26.860 And I warn you, if we leave the Bill of Rights, we will become the darkest force ever on Earth.
00:06:38.180 With our technology, we will make the Nazis look like rookies.
00:06:44.920 Make no mistake.
00:06:46.280 We have been bad.
00:06:50.900 We have rounded up the Japanese.
00:06:54.640 We've rounded up the Germans and the Italians.
00:06:56.760 We rounded up the blacks.
00:07:02.340 We told people they couldn't vote.
00:07:06.240 Including women.
00:07:07.240 But we are also the people that freed people.
00:07:13.740 We freed blacks.
00:07:15.400 And we fought for it.
00:07:17.360 We fought and died.
00:07:18.980 We fought to free the Japanese.
00:07:30.800 We fought to free the Germans and all of Europe and the world.
00:07:35.760 We fought to free Russia from the tyranny of communism.
00:07:42.420 And we failed in the time of peace.
00:07:51.420 Are we good or are we bad?
00:07:54.860 Is the Declaration of Independence still a viable mission statement?
00:08:00.100 Because that's all that is.
00:08:01.740 The Declaration of Independence is a mission statement.
00:08:04.380 Period.
00:08:04.720 Do we still hold these truths to be self-evident?
00:08:10.860 Forget about the past.
00:08:13.320 Let's talk about the future.
00:08:16.000 We have never, ever reached the heights demanded by our mission statement.
00:08:24.680 But have we gotten better?
00:08:27.260 Is it still worth striving for?
00:08:30.240 We hold these truths to be self-evident.
00:08:33.540 That all men are created equal.
00:08:35.960 That means we're born equal.
00:08:38.800 We all have an equal chance.
00:08:41.620 Don't judge somebody by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
00:08:47.920 Do you have everything the baby laying next to you has when you're born?
00:08:54.460 As far as human rights and dignity, do you still believe that?
00:09:05.060 And I'm not talking about, well, that's not the way.
00:09:08.240 I'm asking you as an aspirational mission statement.
00:09:11.940 That is the mission statement of our country.
00:09:15.360 Do you want to live in a country that strives and falls short, but picks itself back up again?
00:09:24.460 Do you want to live in a country that says all men are created equal and they are endowed by their creator?
00:09:32.880 Why would you have to throw God into it?
00:09:35.440 I don't care what you put there.
00:09:37.960 It just must be bigger than man.
00:09:41.080 The reason why the creator is important is if you don't have something bigger than man, then man will print and take away rights.
00:09:55.080 So if you want to say the moon, the eternities, the great cosmos, whatever.
00:10:05.460 But it endows each of us with certain unchangeable rights.
00:10:15.560 And those rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
00:10:19.020 Now there's a lot more.
00:10:21.300 And that's where the Bill of Rights comes in.
00:10:23.760 Do we still believe in this?
00:10:26.260 As an aspirational statement, we are only talking about the past.
00:10:32.740 We're talking about the mistakes of the past.
00:10:34.980 You cannot fix the mistakes of the past without saying where we're going.
00:10:41.900 So where are we going, Antifa?
00:10:44.880 You want to tear us down.
00:10:47.400 Now I read your website.
00:10:49.220 I read your mission statement.
00:10:51.120 I strongly disagree.
00:10:52.920 Capitalism is not the problem.
00:10:57.160 Capitalism that has no moral sentiment is.
00:11:02.600 But you don't fix that by a state-run economy.
00:11:10.740 By co-ops.
00:11:12.820 It always fails.
00:11:16.200 Now, you and your allies in the press
00:11:20.740 refuse to point out that that is exactly what you're looking for.
00:11:26.620 It's a failed system.
00:11:29.400 This one has been, this one has failed us
00:11:32.740 because it has been usurped.
00:11:36.740 The Constitution no longer means anything.
00:11:39.900 The Bill of Rights no longer means anything.
00:11:42.460 Why?
00:11:43.480 Because it's not taught anymore.
00:11:45.220 Anybody who takes the oath of office in Washington,
00:11:48.980 90% of them are liars.
00:11:51.280 Not even, not even intentional liars.
00:11:56.140 They don't know it.
00:11:58.460 They don't believe in it.
00:12:00.340 They will tell you they do.
00:12:03.160 As was told to me by a very powerful individual once,
00:12:07.120 look, Glenn, we all believe in the Constitution,
00:12:09.940 but, you know, you gotta do what you gotta do.
00:12:13.760 No.
00:12:15.780 No.
00:12:17.100 You do not do what you have to do.
00:12:19.820 That ends justify the means.
00:12:21.780 We either believe in this or we do not.
00:12:24.460 And that is the question, America.
00:12:26.680 Do you believe?
00:12:28.560 Neutral, half-assed, not thought out,
00:12:37.600 sitting on the sidelines,
00:12:40.920 all of those answers mean nothing in the end.
00:12:45.340 Only those who know it, who understand it,
00:12:49.340 who have done their homework,
00:12:50.900 who can intellectually defend it.
00:12:53.940 Those are the Winter Soldiers.
00:12:59.020 Those will be the ones that restore
00:13:01.660 freedom for all mankind.
00:13:06.340 Everything else is lip service,
00:13:09.440 a game,
00:13:10.600 and actually,
00:13:12.760 a tool
00:13:13.360 in the hands of those
00:13:15.340 who wish to create chaos
00:13:17.080 and destroy all we have.
00:13:23.940 That monologue
00:13:28.540 and so much more
00:13:30.100 is actually the beginning
00:13:31.700 of part three
00:13:32.740 of my book
00:13:33.980 Addicted to Outrage.
00:13:36.580 Finding our unum.
00:13:38.460 What is our purpose anymore?
00:13:41.040 We're going to talk about that
00:13:42.120 with you and those
00:13:43.040 who have read the book.
00:13:44.060 If you have read the book,
00:13:45.420 888-727-BECK.
00:13:47.880 All right.
00:13:48.300 Our sponsor
00:13:48.860 this half hour
00:13:50.440 is who, Marissa?
00:13:52.380 Who's our sponsor today?
00:13:53.960 Blinds.com.
00:13:54.760 I want to tell you
00:13:55.160 a little bit about Blinds.com.
00:13:57.160 They are great
00:13:58.500 at being able to
00:14:00.140 give you everything
00:14:02.240 that you need
00:14:03.140 even if you are somebody
00:14:04.460 who you don't really know
00:14:05.760 how to
00:14:06.620 look at window treatments.
00:14:09.480 You mean
00:14:10.280 like you?
00:14:11.560 Me?
00:14:12.480 I don't.
00:14:13.520 You.
00:14:13.960 Or you, by the way.
00:14:15.280 Actually, you're kind of
00:14:16.280 the decorator in the family
00:14:17.280 which is an interesting
00:14:18.260 dynamic.
00:14:19.300 Okay, go ahead.
00:14:20.040 But I will say
00:14:20.940 I have no idea
00:14:21.580 how to decorate anything.
00:14:23.320 Yeah.
00:14:23.660 And then I've turned
00:14:24.320 all of these things over
00:14:25.120 to my wife
00:14:25.820 who picked out
00:14:26.660 some incredible blinds
00:14:28.240 from Blinds.com.
00:14:29.340 They looked really cool.
00:14:31.080 And we got on the phone
00:14:31.920 with them
00:14:32.240 and we said,
00:14:33.020 hey, these are the ones
00:14:34.240 we want.
00:14:34.760 We're really excited about them.
00:14:35.580 They said, well,
00:14:37.100 let me just tell you
00:14:37.780 about this.
00:14:38.580 They're great blinds.
00:14:39.200 The ones you picked
00:14:39.580 are great
00:14:40.140 and you can have them
00:14:41.000 if you want.
00:14:41.820 There's another set though.
00:14:43.620 Same quality
00:14:44.420 and it's going to save you
00:14:45.540 about 20%.
00:14:46.300 And they're sold too
00:14:47.920 by Blinds.com.
00:14:48.760 Yeah.
00:14:49.100 And so they actually
00:14:50.100 redirected us
00:14:51.980 to a less expensive option
00:14:53.940 with the same quality
00:14:54.840 and they can't say enough
00:14:56.680 about how much
00:14:57.300 they've changed the house.
00:14:58.640 Blinds.com is just
00:15:00.580 a great company.
00:15:01.680 They're their leader
00:15:02.340 online of window coverings
00:15:04.300 and they're for a reason.
00:15:05.420 I mean,
00:15:05.580 they've been in business
00:15:06.400 since the 90s
00:15:07.460 when it was the
00:15:08.040 World Wide Web
00:15:08.900 or the information
00:15:10.240 superhighway.
00:15:12.220 And so they know
00:15:13.080 how to do it.
00:15:13.680 And now through October 9th,
00:15:15.500 Blinds.com is having
00:15:16.580 a Columbus Day sale.
00:15:18.780 Yes, Columbus.
00:15:20.660 Save up to 50% site-wide
00:15:22.820 with promo code BECK.
00:15:24.060 That's 50% site-wide
00:15:26.300 that you can save
00:15:27.260 in honor of Columbus.
00:15:30.840 Blinds.com,
00:15:31.860 promo code BECK.
00:15:32.880 Blinds.com,
00:15:33.820 promo code BECK.
00:15:34.800 Rules and restrictions
00:15:35.580 do apply.
00:15:39.600 So as you're celebrating
00:15:40.820 indigenous peoples,
00:15:42.060 I just want to remind you
00:15:44.080 to throw this little fact out
00:15:45.180 and don't take my word for it.
00:15:46.380 Look it up.
00:15:47.580 The indigenous peoples,
00:15:49.640 the American Indian,
00:15:52.080 they held slaves.
00:15:54.420 Oh, wait, what?
00:15:56.160 Yeah, they bought
00:15:57.340 African Americans
00:15:58.220 on the block.
00:15:58.780 But here's the interesting thing.
00:16:01.320 When America abolished slavery
00:16:04.180 through the Civil War,
00:16:05.960 the indigenous nations,
00:16:09.480 they did not.
00:16:10.880 They went on for another
00:16:11.980 decade of sorrow
00:16:12.780 before they went,
00:16:13.600 you know what,
00:16:14.060 maybe we should stop slavery.
00:16:15.320 Oh, really?
00:16:15.720 Just another decade?
00:16:16.560 Yeah, just another decade or so.
00:16:17.900 Oh.
00:16:18.160 So it's no big deal.
00:16:19.120 If I had to guess,
00:16:19.760 I would say probably
00:16:20.560 the Jews made them do it.
00:16:21.860 Probably.
00:16:22.160 Yeah, it's probably.
00:16:23.700 It's probably.
00:16:24.340 Just like they turned
00:16:25.200 Taylor Swift.
00:16:26.460 Yeah.
00:16:26.760 Both.
00:16:27.180 The Jews responsible
00:16:28.260 for both things.
00:16:29.740 Oh, holy cow.
00:16:31.160 All right,
00:16:31.380 we have a lot of people.
00:16:32.960 Let me go to,
00:16:33.700 let me go to Scotland
00:16:35.700 in Nevada.
00:16:36.960 Hello, Scotland.
00:16:38.420 Hello, Glenn.
00:16:39.380 I just wanted to say
00:16:41.960 that we can be outraged
00:16:43.680 about anything.
00:16:45.360 So what we need to do
00:16:46.380 is to turn that negative
00:16:47.840 into positive actions.
00:16:49.800 Like when President Kennedy
00:16:51.520 challenged America
00:16:52.680 to get to the moon,
00:16:53.980 we need to turn
00:16:55.100 our negative thoughts
00:16:56.340 into the positive thoughts.
00:16:58.440 Well, I don't think
00:16:59.460 it's ever been easier.
00:17:00.760 Do you?
00:17:01.360 I mean,
00:17:01.820 we're just ignoring
00:17:03.320 all of the positives
00:17:04.460 that are happening to us.
00:17:06.160 I mean,
00:17:06.460 you want a moonshot?
00:17:07.660 Okay, Elon Musk
00:17:08.320 going to Mars 2025.
00:17:10.300 I mean,
00:17:10.780 what's bigger than that?
00:17:12.100 It's just not
00:17:13.140 a national project.
00:17:15.020 Do we need to wrap it up
00:17:17.080 in national money
00:17:17.940 to be able to get excited
00:17:19.260 about the future?
00:17:20.980 Because that's what
00:17:21.760 that was all about.
00:17:22.960 The moonshot
00:17:23.540 was all about
00:17:24.500 doing things
00:17:25.620 because we can
00:17:27.160 doing the hard things,
00:17:29.260 not the easy things.
00:17:30.900 I mean,
00:17:31.520 that was the whole goal
00:17:33.620 and it did galvanize people.
00:17:36.220 Thanks, Scotland.
00:17:37.080 You know what people
00:17:37.540 don't think about
00:17:39.220 is 1968
00:17:41.960 is when we went to the moon.
00:17:46.120 Same year as Woodstock.
00:17:50.500 Wow.
00:17:51.120 Yeah, that's weird.
00:17:51.720 That's weird.
00:17:52.400 Yeah.
00:17:53.220 So you were either
00:17:54.580 rolling around in the mud
00:17:55.960 or you were reaching
00:17:57.760 for the stars.
00:17:58.700 There were two Americas.
00:18:00.360 Well, where is the America
00:18:02.100 that is reaching
00:18:02.700 for the stars?
00:18:03.860 Where is that America
00:18:05.440 that says,
00:18:06.100 no, not going to stop me.
00:18:08.520 I saw a post today
00:18:11.520 that I had to answer
00:18:14.080 in my Twitter feed.
00:18:16.100 Let me see if I can
00:18:16.620 find it real quick.
00:18:18.920 That was,
00:18:20.040 it's actually,
00:18:20.920 this is so wrong
00:18:22.400 what is being taught
00:18:23.760 to children
00:18:25.140 and to everybody.
00:18:28.460 There was a person,
00:18:30.660 Helen Pluckrose,
00:18:32.220 and apparently fat
00:18:34.240 is my identity
00:18:35.360 and I belong to it
00:18:36.480 whether I'm aware
00:18:37.120 of it or not.
00:18:37.960 And even if I'm not,
00:18:39.140 this is what I'm known for
00:18:40.480 and I'm kidding myself
00:18:42.080 to think people
00:18:42.800 actually think of me
00:18:43.940 primarily as a writer
00:18:45.300 and speaker
00:18:46.020 rather than a fat person.
00:18:49.240 Imagine living that way.
00:18:50.480 I responded
00:18:53.560 to that
00:18:56.440 as a growing member
00:18:58.760 of the fat community.
00:19:01.420 I find the real problem is
00:19:03.600 when I look at myself
00:19:05.780 in the mirror
00:19:06.540 and I define myself
00:19:08.660 by my body.
00:19:10.180 I am more than my body.
00:19:13.260 You can define me
00:19:14.260 any way you wish.
00:19:15.200 It's your loss.
00:19:16.660 What you say after,
00:19:18.540 I am.
00:19:19.420 Islam is much more important
00:19:21.780 than what others
00:19:22.680 say about you.
00:19:24.960 So,
00:19:25.680 which are we going to be,
00:19:27.540 America?
00:19:27.980 Because the choice
00:19:29.000 is here.
00:19:30.760 And the choice
00:19:31.580 is so much more
00:19:32.620 than Donald Trump
00:19:33.460 or Kavanaugh.
00:19:34.680 It is so much bigger
00:19:35.860 than this.
00:19:37.780 Who are we?
00:19:40.260 Are we the people
00:19:41.440 that roll in the mud
00:19:42.540 and are constantly
00:19:44.260 looking down
00:19:45.260 and debasing
00:19:46.820 ourselves?
00:19:47.420 or are we the people
00:19:49.420 that look up?
00:19:50.980 Are we the people
00:19:51.640 that look to the future?
00:19:53.620 Are we the people
00:19:54.520 that say,
00:19:55.400 I am getting better
00:19:57.000 every day?
00:19:58.700 I am part
00:19:59.880 of a positive community
00:20:01.480 that is going to make
00:20:03.280 a difference
00:20:04.180 to millions.
00:20:05.500 Glenn,
00:20:06.000 Beck,
00:20:06.880 Mercury.
00:20:07.560 Taking phone calls
00:20:12.800 today for people
00:20:13.580 who have read
00:20:14.380 Addicted to Outrage
00:20:15.540 and want to make
00:20:17.400 a,
00:20:18.960 to illustrate
00:20:19.700 one of the points
00:20:21.060 in the book
00:20:21.800 or have questions,
00:20:22.740 want to further
00:20:23.140 the dialogue,
00:20:24.340 888-727-BECK
00:20:26.160 if you have read
00:20:26.940 the book.
00:20:28.220 Let me go to Greg.
00:20:30.360 Greg is a contributor
00:20:32.040 for The Federalist.
00:20:33.140 Wow.
00:20:33.900 Hi, Greg.
00:20:34.720 How are you?
00:20:35.780 Good morning, Glenn.
00:20:37.100 Good to,
00:20:37.620 good to hear from you.
00:20:39.180 Nice to talk to you.
00:20:40.600 I understand
00:20:41.620 that five years ago
00:20:43.880 you may not have been
00:20:45.620 my biggest fan.
00:20:47.800 No,
00:20:48.400 no,
00:20:48.660 not at all,
00:20:49.180 actually.
00:20:49.840 I'm with you,
00:20:50.540 Greg,
00:20:50.760 on that one.
00:20:51.200 No, wait,
00:20:51.460 totally.
00:20:51.880 He has different reasons.
00:20:55.200 You were on the left?
00:20:57.320 Oh, yeah,
00:20:57.940 very much so.
00:20:58.920 Tell me about it.
00:21:00.640 Well,
00:21:01.380 I was raised
00:21:03.020 by far-left,
00:21:05.660 kind of ex-hippie parents
00:21:08.780 and, you know,
00:21:10.600 that was just kind of
00:21:11.360 pushed into me
00:21:12.200 from a young age.
00:21:14.820 And it was just the,
00:21:15.900 it was how I saw everything.
00:21:17.280 It was like a filter
00:21:18.140 over the entire world.
00:21:20.300 And I walked around
00:21:22.700 looking suspiciously
00:21:24.160 at everybody,
00:21:25.180 thinking that,
00:21:26.100 you know,
00:21:26.520 there's something
00:21:27.020 deeply broken within them,
00:21:28.520 that they're out
00:21:29.860 to get somebody
00:21:30.740 that they don't
00:21:31.820 understand what I do,
00:21:34.160 even though I,
00:21:35.160 I didn't understand
00:21:36.160 very much at all.
00:21:37.880 It was pure emotion
00:21:39.240 and it was raw
00:21:40.120 and ill-informed.
00:21:42.680 So what happened?
00:21:43.840 And,
00:21:44.420 well,
00:21:45.000 I,
00:21:46.860 one of my close friends,
00:21:49.180 we were having a discussion
00:21:51.800 and he,
00:21:52.400 he actually mentioned
00:21:53.600 Fox News.
00:21:55.800 and just kind of said
00:21:58.860 that that's,
00:21:59.520 that was his,
00:22:00.100 his news source
00:22:01.120 and I was appalled
00:22:02.440 and I was furious
00:22:03.660 and I,
00:22:04.860 I went home from that,
00:22:06.560 you know,
00:22:06.900 just thinking what,
00:22:08.000 what I thought
00:22:08.560 I knew this guy.
00:22:09.680 Well,
00:22:09.820 you know,
00:22:10.080 I all along
00:22:11.040 I had no idea
00:22:11.700 he's,
00:22:12.060 he's some kind of monster.
00:22:13.060 Like,
00:22:13.460 how could,
00:22:14.560 how could this be?
00:22:15.840 And I got curious
00:22:18.660 as to how,
00:22:21.100 how this could happen
00:22:22.100 and I went home
00:22:24.520 and I started watching
00:22:26.920 and listening to
00:22:28.860 some people on the other side
00:22:31.200 and it was
00:22:32.660 quite a,
00:22:34.080 a slap in the face.
00:22:35.200 This was prior to,
00:22:36.940 uh,
00:22:37.940 Trump and,
00:22:38.960 and the whole situation now
00:22:40.380 and all this flame throwing
00:22:42.060 and what I saw
00:22:44.140 were,
00:22:44.740 you know,
00:22:45.880 people who celebrate
00:22:46.860 what we've overcome
00:22:48.320 instead of what we've had
00:22:49.820 to overcome.
00:22:51.320 Um,
00:22:51.920 and,
00:22:52.680 and it was really powerful
00:22:53.800 and very restorative,
00:22:56.380 uh,
00:22:57.300 to me.
00:22:58.020 And,
00:22:58.540 you know,
00:22:59.620 looking at your book
00:23:00.420 through,
00:23:00.860 uh,
00:23:01.340 through the lens of addiction,
00:23:02.480 uh,
00:23:03.400 looking at the,
00:23:04.520 the way that we approach
00:23:05.560 our politics
00:23:06.860 and the way we regard
00:23:07.680 one another
00:23:08.180 through that lens
00:23:09.400 I think is so important.
00:23:10.900 I've,
00:23:11.300 I've gone through addiction
00:23:12.680 myself
00:23:13.240 and,
00:23:14.260 you know,
00:23:14.920 as an addict,
00:23:15.580 you,
00:23:15.840 you learn about
00:23:16.560 about real humility.
00:23:19.340 Um,
00:23:19.880 and you find help,
00:23:21.520 you find comfort
00:23:22.180 in some of the most
00:23:24.020 unlikely places.
00:23:25.840 And,
00:23:26.520 you know,
00:23:27.160 it really kind of becomes
00:23:28.380 clear to you that,
00:23:30.000 you know,
00:23:30.500 you can say that
00:23:31.900 diversity is our greatest
00:23:33.400 strength,
00:23:34.140 but,
00:23:34.620 you know,
00:23:34.840 it's more than that.
00:23:36.240 It's,
00:23:36.560 it's,
00:23:37.500 it's the cooperation
00:23:38.500 between,
00:23:39.300 you know,
00:23:39.780 diverse people.
00:23:41.460 Um,
00:23:41.900 it's the humility
00:23:42.940 of diverse people,
00:23:44.540 I think.
00:23:45.020 One of my favorite quotes
00:23:46.080 is absolutely
00:23:46.820 where there is doubt,
00:23:48.820 there is freedom.
00:23:50.860 And we,
00:23:52.680 we,
00:23:53.280 we flip that up
00:23:54.280 on its head.
00:23:55.300 We,
00:23:55.540 we are now so,
00:23:56.980 I mean,
00:23:57.880 look at Antifa
00:23:58.480 directing traffic.
00:23:59.440 They are so convinced
00:24:01.560 that they are right.
00:24:03.080 They will bludgeon you
00:24:04.420 if you disagree with them.
00:24:06.080 There's no freedom there
00:24:07.400 where there is doubt.
00:24:09.360 There is freedom
00:24:10.400 where there is humility.
00:24:11.500 There is freedom.
00:24:15.460 Absolutely.
00:24:16.440 And,
00:24:16.860 you know,
00:24:17.000 when,
00:24:17.220 when,
00:24:18.140 you know,
00:24:18.660 intellectual exploration,
00:24:20.000 when,
00:24:20.160 when curiosity,
00:24:21.840 um,
00:24:22.820 going against the grain
00:24:24.060 in any way,
00:24:24.900 when that,
00:24:25.340 when that becomes punishable,
00:24:26.560 um,
00:24:27.780 you,
00:24:28.220 I,
00:24:28.560 I think,
00:24:29.620 I think they really risk,
00:24:30.720 uh,
00:24:31.420 you know,
00:24:31.700 driving good people,
00:24:34.680 um,
00:24:35.460 down some,
00:24:36.100 some unsavory roads.
00:24:37.440 And there,
00:24:39.160 there's no good in that.
00:24:40.840 Great.
00:24:41.360 Thank you.
00:24:41.800 Tradition.
00:24:42.660 Oh,
00:24:42.980 yeah,
00:24:43.200 absolutely.
00:24:44.140 Absolutely.
00:24:44.760 Thank you so much
00:24:45.760 for reading the book.
00:24:46.520 And I'm going to send you
00:24:47.360 a signed copy,
00:24:48.740 but thank you
00:24:49.620 for reading and calling in,
00:24:51.160 um,
00:24:51.980 Daryl in Kentucky.
00:24:53.000 You're on the Glenn Beck program.
00:24:54.420 Hi,
00:24:54.580 Daryl.
00:24:56.260 Hey,
00:24:56.720 Glenn.
00:24:56.940 How's it going?
00:24:57.580 I'm good.
00:24:58.100 How are you?
00:24:59.360 Doing great.
00:25:00.160 I just wanted to say
00:25:01.020 that I really love the book.
00:25:02.140 And I think that my,
00:25:03.720 my favorite part of it
00:25:04.740 is that even though
00:25:06.140 we can't,
00:25:07.260 we can't surrender.
00:25:08.280 Like you've said several times,
00:25:09.760 we have to remain civil
00:25:11.820 because maybe I'm naive
00:25:13.840 in thinking this,
00:25:14.720 but I think that eventually
00:25:16.220 the left will realize
00:25:18.020 they have gone too far.
00:25:19.280 They will step back
00:25:20.140 from the ledge.
00:25:20.880 And if we're civil,
00:25:22.740 if we're there standing strong
00:25:24.120 on our principles,
00:25:24.760 we'll be,
00:25:25.500 um,
00:25:26.360 able to bring them back
00:25:27.320 into the fold
00:25:27.980 and,
00:25:28.200 um,
00:25:29.560 bring the country back together.
00:25:30.660 But if we give in,
00:25:31.660 we do the same thing we're doing.
00:25:33.180 We just help tear the country apart.
00:25:34.980 You were on the left as well
00:25:38.560 at one point?
00:25:39.820 I was,
00:25:40.800 um,
00:25:41.600 I was raised
00:25:43.540 in southern West Virginia.
00:25:45.280 Um,
00:25:45.840 my family were
00:25:46.900 very deep blue Democrats
00:25:48.600 and,
00:25:49.500 um,
00:25:49.940 we believe that Republicans
00:25:51.000 were just people
00:25:51.620 who took money away
00:25:52.840 from the poor
00:25:53.320 to give to the rich.
00:25:54.360 And,
00:25:54.940 um,
00:25:55.900 you know,
00:25:56.320 I,
00:25:56.680 I was pretty progressive guy
00:25:58.840 in college
00:25:59.820 and,
00:26:00.480 um,
00:26:00.740 I didn't really
00:26:01.740 start looking
00:26:02.980 at the other side
00:26:03.720 until after 2014.
00:26:05.900 I,
00:26:06.420 I went to war.
00:26:07.640 Um,
00:26:07.980 I was a soldier
00:26:08.680 in the military.
00:26:09.700 Um,
00:26:10.860 I spent all of 2014
00:26:12.140 in Afghanistan,
00:26:13.420 uh,
00:26:14.240 leading some of the best
00:26:15.340 men and women
00:26:15.960 I've ever met in my life.
00:26:17.540 And when I came back,
00:26:18.620 my country was
00:26:19.520 completely different.
00:26:20.820 I couldn't figure out
00:26:21.820 what happened.
00:26:22.880 My,
00:26:23.140 I was no longer welcome
00:26:24.180 on the left
00:26:24.660 as a straight white male veteran.
00:26:26.820 So I had to figure out
00:26:28.660 what happened.
00:26:29.860 I started looking at
00:26:30.760 people that I had mocked,
00:26:32.180 including yourself
00:26:33.000 in the past.
00:26:33.980 And,
00:26:34.560 uh,
00:26:35.220 I actually started reading,
00:26:36.360 uh,
00:26:37.040 Roy H. Williams
00:26:37.780 and Michael R. Drew's Pendulum,
00:26:39.280 which you noted in the book.
00:26:41.020 And,
00:26:41.320 uh,
00:26:42.240 that really,
00:26:43.340 you know,
00:26:43.720 maybe I'm buying into their theory
00:26:45.440 a little bit too much,
00:26:46.100 but I've,
00:26:46.640 I've seen it firsthand.
00:26:48.340 And,
00:26:48.640 uh,
00:26:49.480 I,
00:26:49.860 I do believe that
00:26:50.920 we have another five years
00:26:52.360 of,
00:26:52.680 of this getting worse
00:26:53.660 before it gets better.
00:26:54.520 But I still believe
00:26:55.760 the dawn is coming.
00:26:57.360 So do I.
00:26:58.260 It's whether or not,
00:26:59.320 um,
00:27:00.240 we can,
00:27:01.140 uh,
00:27:01.560 pull enough people away
00:27:02.560 from the cliff before,
00:27:03.980 I think the year is 2025
00:27:05.240 where it starts to,
00:27:06.340 uh,
00:27:06.580 come back the other direction.
00:27:07.960 Um,
00:27:08.460 so how can we help people
00:27:12.740 like you?
00:27:13.340 Because I,
00:27:14.100 I,
00:27:14.820 I think we need to start
00:27:16.120 defining,
00:27:16.640 um,
00:27:17.940 Democrats when we say,
00:27:19.200 oh,
00:27:19.320 the Democrats,
00:27:20.000 I think we need to start
00:27:21.180 saying the people in the
00:27:22.640 leadership of the party.
00:27:24.340 Um,
00:27:24.860 because I don't think
00:27:25.760 like you,
00:27:26.980 there are Democrats
00:27:27.840 who are good,
00:27:28.740 love the country
00:27:29.600 and are finding themselves
00:27:30.720 going,
00:27:31.160 wait a minute,
00:27:31.500 I don't have any place
00:27:32.480 to go.
00:27:33.580 And,
00:27:34.140 uh,
00:27:35.040 and we have to,
00:27:37.060 and,
00:27:37.560 and I'm not saying
00:27:38.220 it's in the Republican
00:27:38.980 party.
00:27:39.440 I'm,
00:27:40.060 I'm just saying
00:27:41.140 people need to start
00:27:43.660 being more welcoming
00:27:45.740 to people who are
00:27:47.380 finding themselves
00:27:48.120 on the outs.
00:27:50.300 What should we be
00:27:51.500 aware of
00:27:52.300 that you went
00:27:53.120 through?
00:27:55.400 I think you should
00:27:56.400 be aware that
00:27:57.260 even though
00:27:58.140 policy
00:27:59.400 and
00:28:00.420 is,
00:28:02.100 is an area
00:28:02.720 that we may
00:28:03.380 never agree on,
00:28:04.780 that principle
00:28:05.600 is something
00:28:06.260 that we can agree
00:28:07.280 on,
00:28:07.760 that things like
00:28:09.240 individual freedom,
00:28:11.480 things like,
00:28:12.160 um,
00:28:13.420 you know,
00:28:14.120 not,
00:28:14.820 uh,
00:28:15.320 having a government
00:28:16.400 that can
00:28:17.360 control you
00:28:18.700 from,
00:28:19.200 you know,
00:28:19.880 several hundred
00:28:21.000 miles away
00:28:21.760 that can control
00:28:22.420 every little
00:28:23.000 aspect of your
00:28:23.720 life.
00:28:24.680 So,
00:28:24.960 something I talk
00:28:25.600 to my wife
00:28:26.160 and my niece
00:28:27.000 about all the
00:28:27.500 time is that,
00:28:28.540 you know,
00:28:29.000 before,
00:28:29.960 before President
00:28:30.640 Obama,
00:28:31.500 you know,
00:28:31.820 I voted for the
00:28:32.580 guy and I kind
00:28:33.140 of liked what
00:28:33.560 he was selling,
00:28:34.780 um,
00:28:35.360 the President's
00:28:36.820 name didn't get
00:28:37.500 mentioned at the
00:28:38.180 dinner table every
00:28:39.100 single night at
00:28:40.520 my home when I
00:28:41.600 was growing up.
00:28:42.640 The,
00:28:43.180 the power that we
00:28:43.920 have given to
00:28:44.440 Washington over the
00:28:46.100 past 10,
00:28:46.900 20 years is too
00:28:48.020 much.
00:28:48.340 And I'm not
00:28:50.020 really sure what
00:28:51.380 the end state,
00:28:52.380 what the solution
00:28:52.980 for that is,
00:28:53.620 but I think just
00:28:55.600 talking about the
00:28:56.680 things you talked
00:28:57.180 about in the book,
00:28:57.880 the principles,
00:28:58.540 uh,
00:28:59.240 that make us all
00:29:00.200 united are,
00:29:01.240 are unum,
00:29:01.820 the Bill of Rights,
00:29:02.620 the things that,
00:29:03.240 that make us all
00:29:04.020 American are,
00:29:05.060 are what we can
00:29:05.880 unify behind.
00:29:07.560 So the,
00:29:07.900 the section of,
00:29:09.660 because I,
00:29:10.300 I,
00:29:11.500 man,
00:29:11.720 I've really struggled
00:29:12.500 with what it is
00:29:13.560 that brought us
00:29:14.640 together and it's
00:29:15.520 really,
00:29:16.020 or can bring us
00:29:16.960 back together.
00:29:17.480 And it's really
00:29:18.540 so simple when
00:29:19.440 you finally get
00:29:20.880 down to it.
00:29:21.720 It is the Bill
00:29:22.660 of Rights,
00:29:23.100 don't you think?
00:29:24.380 I agree.
00:29:25.440 Um,
00:29:25.900 I think that you
00:29:27.340 will never find in
00:29:28.660 any other country
00:29:29.560 that I've been in,
00:29:30.420 I've been in several
00:29:31.160 Africa,
00:29:32.000 Germany,
00:29:33.120 Afghanistan,
00:29:34.220 um,
00:29:35.220 Romania,
00:29:35.920 you'll never find a
00:29:37.160 country that,
00:29:37.860 that beats itself
00:29:38.880 up over its past
00:29:40.040 as much as America
00:29:41.060 does.
00:29:41.500 We,
00:29:42.100 we realize that
00:29:43.540 we've done some
00:29:44.180 horrible things,
00:29:44.780 like you said,
00:29:45.340 in your reading
00:29:45.800 and your monologue,
00:29:46.560 but we've also,
00:29:48.880 you know,
00:29:49.860 I think it's
00:29:50.340 something that
00:29:50.760 Dinesh D'Souza said,
00:29:52.680 you,
00:29:53.040 by recognizing
00:29:54.140 our faults,
00:29:54.920 by admitting
00:29:55.560 to our faults,
00:29:56.240 you have to kind
00:29:56.980 of,
00:29:57.300 in a way,
00:29:57.800 admit to America's
00:29:58.760 moral superiority
00:29:59.700 because we realize
00:30:00.580 that we've made
00:30:01.660 mistakes and we're
00:30:02.660 trying to fix them.
00:30:06.400 Daryl,
00:30:06.880 thank you so much
00:30:07.460 for your phone call.
00:30:08.420 I appreciate it.
00:30:09.300 God bless.
00:30:10.840 He brought up
00:30:11.400 a great point
00:30:11.760 about how,
00:30:12.600 before Obama,
00:30:13.620 the president's name
00:30:14.560 didn't come up
00:30:15.080 every day
00:30:15.400 at the dinner table.
00:30:16.680 Obviously,
00:30:17.100 that's getting
00:30:17.460 even worse
00:30:18.440 now with Trump.
00:30:19.160 I mean,
00:30:19.300 people are obsessed
00:30:20.500 about talking
00:30:21.120 about him
00:30:21.400 all the time.
00:30:22.400 There's a story
00:30:22.800 today in Axios
00:30:23.420 about how
00:30:24.080 they are,
00:30:25.800 the networks
00:30:26.580 have recognized
00:30:27.340 this and they're
00:30:28.040 doubling down.
00:30:29.320 They've enjoyed
00:30:29.980 high ratings
00:30:30.560 and engagement
00:30:31.000 from Trump
00:30:31.440 coverage
00:30:31.800 and for the
00:30:32.700 networks
00:30:32.960 at a relatively
00:30:33.520 low cost.
00:30:34.960 Now that a precedent
00:30:35.520 has been set
00:30:36.080 around these high
00:30:36.620 returns,
00:30:37.180 it's unlikely
00:30:37.620 news outlets
00:30:38.220 will cut back,
00:30:39.060 meaning the barrage
00:30:39.640 of political content
00:30:40.460 being created
00:30:41.020 and absorbed
00:30:41.540 during the Trump
00:30:42.080 presidency
00:30:42.480 will likely outlive
00:30:43.520 this administration.
00:30:45.080 They want to make,
00:30:46.580 I mean,
00:30:46.780 like Trump
00:30:47.040 is a celebrity,
00:30:47.700 right?
00:30:47.860 So un-American.
00:30:48.760 And he's a polarizing
00:30:50.260 guy and people
00:30:51.100 love him and hate him,
00:30:52.140 but they want this
00:30:53.300 to be the norm.
00:30:54.080 They want you
00:30:54.580 to be obsessed
00:30:55.400 with this all the time
00:30:56.580 at the expense
00:30:57.180 of the rest of your life.
00:30:57.980 It is in a
00:30:58.640 totalitarian regime.
00:31:00.280 It is the norm.
00:31:01.760 You have to know
00:31:02.700 what der Fuhrer
00:31:03.480 or the leader
00:31:04.180 is saying and doing
00:31:05.700 and wants you to do.
00:31:07.400 It is the norm.
00:31:09.560 Anything that
00:31:10.300 normalizes this,
00:31:11.760 any intention
00:31:12.520 of saying,
00:31:13.240 you know what,
00:31:13.840 that's good
00:31:14.560 for America
00:31:15.240 is mistaken.
00:31:16.980 It's wrong.
00:31:18.420 And this is,
00:31:18.900 you know,
00:31:19.100 this is,
00:31:19.920 it's driven,
00:31:20.780 I think,
00:31:21.020 at this point
00:31:21.540 by clicks
00:31:22.120 and viewers
00:31:22.900 and,
00:31:23.560 you know,
00:31:23.820 it's one of those
00:31:24.660 things that just
00:31:25.220 is going to continue.
00:31:26.440 It's going to be hard
00:31:27.040 to reverse that addiction
00:31:28.580 as well.
00:31:29.860 They,
00:31:30.200 you know,
00:31:30.500 when they can get,
00:31:32.020 you know,
00:31:32.460 the Rachel Maddow audience
00:31:33.660 is addicted to outrage
00:31:35.500 maybe more than any other,
00:31:37.200 right?
00:31:37.440 Their ratings have gone
00:31:38.320 through the roof
00:31:38.820 because of it
00:31:39.360 and you think MSNBC's return,
00:31:40.780 you know,
00:31:40.920 is going to reverse
00:31:41.820 that path now?
00:31:42.980 No.
00:31:43.460 They're not going to say,
00:31:44.080 oh,
00:31:44.260 well,
00:31:44.440 you know what,
00:31:44.740 maybe we went to,
00:31:45.500 I don't know.
00:31:46.440 I mean,
00:31:46.660 I'd like to be optimistic
00:31:47.520 about it,
00:31:47.900 but I don't see it happening.
00:31:48.780 All right.
00:31:49.740 We're going to take a quick break.
00:31:50.760 Back to your phone calls,
00:31:51.640 888-727-BECK.
00:31:53.360 Then in hour number three,
00:31:54.480 we're going to show you
00:31:55.300 an experiment we did
00:31:56.360 and take you behind the scenes
00:31:58.780 of something that we try to do
00:32:00.280 with the gun debate.
00:32:01.740 Can we get people
00:32:03.320 all different walks of life,
00:32:06.800 people to sit,
00:32:07.740 just eight people,
00:32:08.800 sit in a room
00:32:09.720 and actually come up
00:32:13.700 with any workable solutions?
00:32:17.360 Wow,
00:32:18.040 was that an eye-opening experience.
00:32:21.140 We're going to show you
00:32:22.200 all about it
00:32:22.960 coming up in hour number three.
00:32:25.660 Sponsor of this half hour
00:32:26.640 is Relief Factor.
00:32:28.440 Relief Factor,
00:32:29.220 for about four years,
00:32:31.260 has been an advertiser
00:32:32.500 on The Blaze.
00:32:34.640 And I have seen the people here,
00:32:36.440 a few of the people
00:32:37.400 who have real pain,
00:32:38.980 take Relief Factor.
00:32:40.300 I have always been a,
00:32:41.840 you know,
00:32:42.160 better living through
00:32:42.820 pharmaceuticals guy.
00:32:44.480 I just, you know,
00:32:45.700 hey, have you tried Witch Hazel?
00:32:47.340 No, I don't know her.
00:32:48.660 I don't know what she makes.
00:32:49.820 No, I haven't tried it.
00:32:50.740 Oh, Essence of Orange
00:32:52.340 is really going to...
00:32:53.300 No, it's not.
00:32:53.920 No, it's not.
00:32:54.880 So I'm just,
00:32:56.180 I'm not a guy
00:32:57.340 who is into all that.
00:32:58.640 But when you have pain
00:32:59.960 and you are so desperate
00:33:01.780 that you'll try anything,
00:33:03.900 that's when you can sometimes
00:33:06.120 have an eye-opening experience.
00:33:07.400 And I did with Relief Factor.
00:33:09.700 Back around Christmas,
00:33:11.620 my wife and I decided
00:33:13.060 I was going to take it
00:33:13.920 for about three weeks
00:33:15.220 and just see,
00:33:16.300 just see.
00:33:17.160 What do you have to lose?
00:33:18.900 Well, how about your pain?
00:33:21.000 This has been transformative to me.
00:33:23.580 If you are in constant pain
00:33:26.460 or if you just have,
00:33:27.500 you know,
00:33:27.680 the common aches and pains,
00:33:29.360 this reduces inflammation.
00:33:31.800 It is, for me,
00:33:34.380 the next closest thing
00:33:35.640 to a miracle.
00:33:36.880 100% drug-free,
00:33:38.480 created by doctors,
00:33:39.580 four key ingredients
00:33:40.560 that help your body
00:33:41.440 fight against inflammation.
00:33:43.780 Try it like I did
00:33:44.660 for three weeks.
00:33:45.500 I'm still taking it
00:33:46.380 three times a day.
00:33:47.760 Try it for three weeks.
00:33:48.740 It's $19.95.
00:33:50.340 70% of the people
00:33:52.240 who order the three-week
00:33:53.840 quick start
00:33:54.420 are just like me.
00:33:56.100 70% order it
00:33:57.800 over and over and over again.
00:34:00.280 Put your money
00:34:00.860 where your mouth is.
00:34:02.060 That's a pretty big fact.
00:34:03.820 Go to relieffactor.com
00:34:05.820 right now.
00:34:07.200 relieffactor.com.
00:34:09.760 Let me take Don in Indiana.
00:34:12.420 Hello, Don.
00:34:13.340 Welcome to the program.
00:34:15.460 Good morning.
00:34:15.940 Hey, you...
00:34:18.300 Go ahead.
00:34:20.100 No, go ahead, sir.
00:34:21.080 You wanted me to look
00:34:22.460 at page 294 of the book,
00:34:24.540 Addicted to Outrage.
00:34:25.380 What's your question?
00:34:28.360 Oh, no.
00:34:28.800 I'm just stating
00:34:29.760 that I'm on page 294.
00:34:31.980 Oh, you are?
00:34:32.980 Yes.
00:34:33.760 Okay.
00:34:34.180 And you're talking about
00:34:35.540 recovery steps of alcoholism.
00:34:38.380 Yeah.
00:34:38.940 And I'm trying to tie this
00:34:40.440 into the nation
00:34:41.420 and where is the nation
00:34:42.960 rock bottom,
00:34:44.620 in your opinion,
00:34:45.280 and how do we recover
00:34:46.540 from it?
00:34:49.800 Um...
00:34:50.800 Oof.
00:34:52.560 I am beginning to think
00:34:55.580 that it is civil war.
00:34:59.060 I'm beginning to think
00:35:00.240 that our rock bottom
00:35:01.680 is too far down.
00:35:04.540 However,
00:35:05.580 I can't live in that world.
00:35:08.600 And it depends on
00:35:10.440 how many people
00:35:11.340 will stand
00:35:13.300 and not go over the cliff.
00:35:15.420 How many people
00:35:16.260 are there?
00:35:16.860 Are there enough of us,
00:35:18.620 Republicans and Democrats
00:35:19.700 in our own neighborhoods,
00:35:20.700 that will say,
00:35:21.900 I don't want anything
00:35:22.680 to do with that.
00:35:23.640 I won't do that.
00:35:25.460 That's not who we are
00:35:26.740 as a people.
00:35:27.440 That's not who
00:35:28.400 my neighbors are.
00:35:29.580 And I am not going
00:35:30.820 to be pushed over the cliff
00:35:31.980 by Antifa or Nazis.
00:35:33.680 I'm not doing it.
00:35:34.820 Do we hit that, Don?
00:35:40.380 Well, I would hope
00:35:41.440 as a nation
00:35:41.940 that we do not
00:35:42.600 ever hit that.
00:35:43.680 But I think
00:35:44.580 you could be
00:35:45.460 hitting on something
00:35:46.440 as a civil war
00:35:47.960 in our nation.
00:35:49.080 It may not be
00:35:49.980 physical like
00:35:50.880 our last civil war,
00:35:51.880 but it could be
00:35:52.560 on the social media
00:35:53.540 platform.
00:35:54.220 Oh, we're already
00:35:55.140 in that.
00:35:55.480 And Antifa, of course.
00:35:57.320 We're already in that.
00:35:58.760 I am,
00:36:00.000 I'm very concerned
00:36:01.320 about violence.
00:36:04.220 And, you know,
00:36:05.600 you have an assassination,
00:36:07.340 you have any of
00:36:09.580 these kinds of things,
00:36:11.040 and it could spiral
00:36:12.300 the country out of control.
00:36:14.100 And I would hope
00:36:16.700 that we would,
00:36:19.060 we,
00:36:19.460 blessed be the peacemakers,
00:36:21.220 blessed be the peacemakers.
00:36:22.520 And it's going to be
00:36:23.820 harder and harder
00:36:24.660 to be those people.
00:36:25.980 And that does not mean,
00:36:27.480 as I point out in the book,
00:36:29.080 over and over again,
00:36:30.040 does not mean
00:36:30.740 surrender your principles.
00:36:34.180 It just,
00:36:35.340 it just means
00:36:37.420 stand in what
00:36:39.020 you've always believed.
00:36:40.860 Stand in what you know
00:36:42.520 is true.
00:36:44.960 And encourage others
00:36:46.480 to stand with you.
00:36:49.160 Glenn Beck is coming live
00:36:50.680 to talk about
00:36:51.320 the right path forward.
00:36:52.520 And to make fun
00:36:53.260 of the people
00:36:53.700 standing in the way.
00:36:54.800 He might not be able
00:36:55.500 to save the country,
00:36:56.460 but at least we can
00:36:57.220 all go down laughing.
00:36:58.400 Glenn Beck Live,
00:36:59.540 the Addicted to Outrage Tour.
00:37:01.440 On tour this fall.
00:37:04.200 Glenn Beck.
00:37:06.620 It's Tuesday,
00:37:07.960 October 9th.
00:37:08.680 Okay.
00:37:09.380 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:37:11.220 This is what it sounded like
00:37:12.360 on the streets of Portland
00:37:13.600 just a couple of days ago.
00:37:15.920 Just go that way.
00:37:18.740 Because I told you to.
00:37:20.420 Really?
00:37:20.740 Don't hurt me.
00:37:22.060 Don't hurt me.
00:37:22.360 Just go.
00:37:23.020 Yeah, you little white
00:37:23.820 little f***er.
00:37:24.840 Really?
00:37:25.840 This is anti-f***er.
00:37:27.440 Directing traffic.
00:37:29.000 First amendment.
00:37:29.860 Get the f***er down the road.
00:37:31.080 Please just keep going the direction.
00:37:32.680 Just please turn right
00:37:33.920 for Christ's sake.
00:37:34.620 For Jesus Christ's sake.
00:37:36.640 Please, you're walking traffic
00:37:38.600 and they're getting pissed with you.
00:37:39.400 Oh, we're walking traffic.
00:37:40.540 You can turn.
00:37:42.040 You can just turn.
00:37:43.460 Oh, you're from South Carolina.
00:37:45.020 You are a little white supremacist.
00:37:47.420 North Carolina.
00:37:48.320 I love that.
00:37:49.100 Right.
00:37:49.500 I'm a white supremacist,
00:37:50.740 but I'm white.
00:37:51.520 Are you kidding?
00:37:52.380 Go back to North Carolina
00:37:54.240 where you're from.
00:37:54.620 The guy who is shouting
00:37:55.540 that you're a white supremacist
00:37:56.940 is a white guy himself
00:37:58.420 with Antifa.
00:38:00.080 The guy who's declaring
00:38:02.720 freedom of speech
00:38:04.780 is with Antifa
00:38:06.420 while he's trying to shut down
00:38:07.880 somebody else's right
00:38:09.160 and freedom of speech.
00:38:11.700 America, who are we?
00:38:14.140 Who are we?
00:38:15.620 Are we going to learn
00:38:16.660 from the Kavanaugh thing?
00:38:17.860 Are we going to actually
00:38:19.140 come back from the precipice?
00:38:22.900 You know, it's really fun
00:38:24.240 when people say,
00:38:25.500 you know, gee,
00:38:26.200 how dare you say
00:38:27.120 there's a difference
00:38:27.780 between man and a woman?
00:38:29.060 There's no difference.
00:38:31.160 And in fact,
00:38:31.840 women should be on
00:38:32.860 more corporate boards.
00:38:34.720 We should have a law
00:38:35.520 that mandates that.
00:38:37.780 Wait a minute.
00:38:38.300 We should have a law
00:38:38.900 that mandates that?
00:38:40.720 Why do we need to have
00:38:41.720 a woman on the board
00:38:42.500 of directors?
00:38:43.620 Well, I'll tell you this.
00:38:44.740 America would be
00:38:45.420 a different place
00:38:46.260 if a woman were president.
00:38:48.540 Well, yes,
00:38:49.280 I happen to agree with that.
00:38:51.440 Huh, that's strange
00:38:52.400 because that kind of proves
00:38:55.820 that there is a difference
00:38:57.640 between men and women.
00:38:59.840 Now, that can be fun.
00:39:01.300 You bet.
00:39:03.020 That's fun.
00:39:04.560 But does it move
00:39:05.820 anyone forward?
00:39:08.640 Are we talking about
00:39:09.900 anything meaningful today?
00:39:18.420 Do you know what
00:39:19.240 stopped people in Poland
00:39:20.580 from helping and hiding Jews?
00:39:22.700 It was not the fear
00:39:26.020 of opening the curtain
00:39:27.260 at the sound of a truck
00:39:28.160 stopping in your neighborhood
00:39:29.880 and that if you were caught
00:39:33.040 looking out the window
00:39:34.460 that you would be shot as well.
00:39:38.300 The real fear started
00:39:39.680 long before the truck
00:39:40.780 even pulled up.
00:39:41.900 The real fear
00:39:42.860 was that what you had heard,
00:39:46.140 the rumors,
00:39:46.800 that they were true
00:39:49.080 and you didn't want to know
00:39:52.840 because then
00:39:56.340 you would have to take action
00:39:57.740 and fight against it
00:39:59.280 or live with the knowledge
00:40:03.020 and the shame
00:40:03.960 that you knew it was true
00:40:05.560 and did nothing.
00:40:09.960 We are a nation now
00:40:11.400 dismissing
00:40:12.300 the violence.
00:40:13.700 We are dismissing
00:40:15.360 the calls for violence.
00:40:17.660 We are dismissing
00:40:18.660 the embrace
00:40:19.440 by the media.
00:40:22.680 And when I say we,
00:40:23.900 I don't mean all of us.
00:40:26.120 There are some
00:40:26.920 that celebrate it,
00:40:28.360 some that embrace it,
00:40:31.340 some that ignore it,
00:40:34.640 and some
00:40:36.040 who speak out
00:40:37.640 and feel that
00:40:38.480 no one's listening.
00:40:41.060 It depends on
00:40:42.200 how you're speaking out.
00:40:43.700 Because if we are
00:40:47.380 in this
00:40:48.080 for changing
00:40:48.940 people's minds,
00:40:50.080 we have to change
00:40:51.200 people's hearts
00:40:52.020 and that begins
00:40:52.980 with us.
00:41:00.060 So how do we do it?
00:41:02.920 That's what I talk about
00:41:04.080 in the book
00:41:05.040 Addicted to Outrage
00:41:06.180 and we're taking
00:41:07.040 your calls and questions
00:41:08.020 and comments on it
00:41:08.920 if you have read it.
00:41:10.680 Let me go to
00:41:11.600 Anthony
00:41:12.160 in Massachusetts.
00:41:13.620 Hello, Anthony.
00:41:14.480 You're on the
00:41:14.820 Glenbeck program.
00:41:16.400 Hey, Glenn.
00:41:16.740 How are you?
00:41:17.200 Good.
00:41:17.460 How are you?
00:41:18.540 I'm doing well.
00:41:19.480 So, you know,
00:41:20.420 I'm looking,
00:41:20.840 you mentioned earlier
00:41:21.760 that really
00:41:23.060 the opposition
00:41:24.160 or the people
00:41:24.860 leading this,
00:41:25.400 the leadership
00:41:25.860 of the Democrat Party.
00:41:27.840 Orwell had this right
00:41:28.720 in 1984
00:41:29.280 with the inner party
00:41:30.240 and outer party.
00:41:30.940 and what I see
00:41:32.040 happening with my
00:41:32.920 friends on the left
00:41:33.980 is they're
00:41:34.320 outer party members.
00:41:35.260 They work every day.
00:41:36.820 They're not involved
00:41:37.320 in politics,
00:41:37.840 but they get sucked
00:41:38.520 in on social media
00:41:39.460 and they're being
00:41:40.580 manipulated
00:41:41.020 and it's a huge chunk
00:41:42.320 of the American
00:41:43.320 population being
00:41:44.260 pulled further left.
00:41:46.460 Agreed.
00:41:46.660 And I want to hear
00:41:47.160 your thoughts on that.
00:41:48.060 I think you're
00:41:48.760 absolutely right
00:41:49.620 and it's why
00:41:50.380 we have to be
00:41:51.460 a different
00:41:52.020 and unusual
00:41:52.660 and peculiar people
00:41:54.060 on the internet
00:41:56.880 because if they see,
00:41:58.820 if all they see
00:41:59.720 are people
00:42:00.660 on the right
00:42:01.560 punching back
00:42:02.820 the people
00:42:03.440 on the left
00:42:04.100 and both sides
00:42:05.440 suck,
00:42:06.940 well,
00:42:07.260 they're going to
00:42:08.480 stick with what
00:42:09.280 they know.
00:42:10.080 If they're seeing
00:42:11.420 their side
00:42:12.280 being unreasonable,
00:42:14.240 violent,
00:42:14.760 if you see Antifa,
00:42:16.620 the way to answer
00:42:17.440 Antifa
00:42:17.920 is not
00:42:19.380 with
00:42:20.620 the militant
00:42:22.960 people that will
00:42:23.720 come out
00:42:24.200 or the Nazis
00:42:25.040 to come out
00:42:25.600 and fight them
00:42:25.980 in the streets,
00:42:27.320 that is the moment
00:42:28.780 before we lose
00:42:29.940 our humanity.
00:42:31.000 That is the moment
00:42:31.900 that Martin Luther King
00:42:33.380 walks through
00:42:34.660 and just is peaceful
00:42:36.840 and gentle
00:42:37.760 and you don't
00:42:39.060 strike back.
00:42:39.980 It works
00:42:40.940 at this point
00:42:42.280 but this point
00:42:43.240 is going to
00:42:44.420 slip away quickly.
00:42:45.860 As we lose
00:42:47.000 our humanity
00:42:47.760 as they did
00:42:48.700 in Germany
00:42:49.300 and you no longer
00:42:51.080 are a Judeo-Christian
00:42:53.540 country
00:42:54.420 with those
00:42:55.680 kinds of
00:42:56.180 peaceful values,
00:42:57.640 you miss
00:42:58.620 the moment
00:42:59.180 and then it
00:43:00.140 just becomes
00:43:01.080 you know
00:43:02.500 either communism
00:43:04.560 or socialism
00:43:05.340 what's really
00:43:06.040 the difference?
00:43:07.100 Oh, well,
00:43:07.460 the leader says
00:43:08.140 it's very different
00:43:08.820 so I have to
00:43:09.300 kill all of
00:43:09.940 the other group.
00:43:10.860 You have to
00:43:11.880 act while there
00:43:12.800 still is
00:43:13.740 a Judeo-Christian
00:43:14.700 value
00:43:15.260 and we're losing
00:43:15.960 it quickly.
00:43:17.140 So to get
00:43:18.300 to the far left
00:43:19.340 we'll never
00:43:19.920 do that
00:43:20.440 but get
00:43:21.040 to the people
00:43:21.520 like you're
00:43:22.160 talking about
00:43:22.960 you have
00:43:24.020 to develop
00:43:24.620 ways
00:43:25.180 to be
00:43:26.000 peaceful
00:43:26.560 and not
00:43:27.620 part of
00:43:28.420 that angry
00:43:29.080 crowd.
00:43:29.560 It's what
00:43:29.740 I've talked
00:43:30.100 about for
00:43:30.500 20 years.
00:43:31.260 There's going
00:43:31.720 to come a
00:43:32.060 point where
00:43:32.740 everybody's
00:43:33.060 going to be
00:43:33.280 running in
00:43:34.060 a certain
00:43:34.300 direction
00:43:34.680 and you
00:43:35.180 are going
00:43:35.480 to have
00:43:35.740 to have
00:43:36.020 your
00:43:36.160 credibility
00:43:36.720 your kindness
00:43:38.100 you're going
00:43:38.860 to have
00:43:39.160 to be able
00:43:39.640 to stand
00:43:40.140 up and say
00:43:40.580 no wait
00:43:41.160 don't
00:43:41.660 don't go
00:43:42.220 that way
00:43:42.720 you're not
00:43:43.400 going to
00:43:43.560 stop the
00:43:43.880 whole crowd
00:43:44.340 but you'll
00:43:45.420 be able
00:43:45.640 to stop
00:43:46.100 enough.
00:43:46.760 Thanks Anthony
00:43:47.860 we'll send
00:43:48.200 you a book.
00:43:48.960 Let me go
00:43:49.480 to Heather
00:43:50.620 in Virginia.
00:43:51.580 Hello Heather
00:43:52.000 you're on
00:43:52.360 the Glenn Beck
00:43:52.720 program.
00:43:54.020 Hi Glenn
00:43:54.620 how are you?
00:43:55.300 I'm very
00:43:55.660 good.
00:43:57.460 I overall
00:43:58.600 agree with
00:43:59.540 everything in
00:44:00.060 the book.
00:44:00.320 I think it's
00:44:00.800 awesome.
00:44:02.200 I want to
00:44:02.820 talk about
00:44:03.560 kind of a
00:44:03.940 minor point
00:44:04.440 I guess.
00:44:04.960 Okay.
00:44:05.960 You're
00:44:06.440 talking about
00:44:09.220 how AI
00:44:09.740 is going
00:44:10.240 to come
00:44:10.840 in and
00:44:11.460 you know
00:44:12.080 replace
00:44:12.460 almost all
00:44:12.940 the jobs
00:44:13.460 and I
00:44:14.760 know you
00:44:15.040 don't
00:44:15.340 necessarily
00:44:15.820 agree with
00:44:16.380 UBI but
00:44:17.000 you've said
00:44:17.360 that we
00:44:17.620 need to
00:44:17.860 at least
00:44:18.080 have a
00:44:18.340 conversation
00:44:18.920 about
00:44:19.400 UBI
00:44:20.180 because of
00:44:20.720 it.
00:44:21.820 You know
00:44:22.300 I think
00:44:22.580 we need
00:44:22.840 to be
00:44:23.060 careful
00:44:23.440 about
00:44:23.740 even
00:44:24.080 considering
00:44:25.620 UBI.
00:44:26.700 I think
00:44:26.920 that they're
00:44:27.260 really using
00:44:27.840 fear over
00:44:29.020 AI to
00:44:29.860 try to
00:44:30.740 come in
00:44:31.140 and institute
00:44:31.720 this which
00:44:32.320 is you
00:44:33.240 know something
00:44:33.620 that they
00:44:34.200 want to
00:44:34.520 push us
00:44:34.840 towards
00:44:35.060 socialism.
00:44:36.460 I think
00:44:36.840 that AI
00:44:37.500 while it
00:44:39.580 will certainly
00:44:40.260 change
00:44:40.980 everything
00:44:41.600 obviously
00:44:42.240 you know
00:44:43.280 we've run
00:44:44.120 into this
00:44:44.640 in the past
00:44:45.300 and all the
00:44:46.040 other
00:44:46.280 technical
00:44:47.440 revolutions
00:44:48.780 where you
00:44:50.160 know the
00:44:50.600 Luddites
00:44:51.100 they were
00:44:51.660 afraid that
00:44:52.820 technology was
00:44:53.420 going to come
00:44:53.840 and replace
00:44:54.500 their jobs
00:44:55.200 that was
00:44:55.680 their problem
00:44:56.700 and so
00:44:57.820 I understand
00:44:59.520 that AI is
00:45:01.100 definitely coming
00:45:01.860 and it's going
00:45:02.300 to change
00:45:02.740 things but
00:45:03.260 it's not going
00:45:04.300 to take over
00:45:04.840 everything
00:45:05.320 all the jobs
00:45:06.120 you know
00:45:06.480 in addition
00:45:07.160 obviously to
00:45:07.840 the people
00:45:08.160 that will
00:45:08.500 need to
00:45:08.980 create the
00:45:10.040 machines
00:45:11.220 and keep
00:45:11.700 the AI
00:45:12.060 running
00:45:12.420 you know
00:45:13.200 there's
00:45:13.400 certain
00:45:13.580 things
00:45:13.840 AI
00:45:14.060 just
00:45:14.300 can't
00:45:14.700 do
00:45:14.960 like
00:45:15.400 fixing a
00:45:18.240 leak
00:45:18.560 in your
00:45:18.820 plumbing
00:45:19.140 in your
00:45:19.500 house
00:45:19.760 probably
00:45:20.240 AI
00:45:20.600 is
00:45:20.780 not
00:45:20.980 going
00:45:21.140 to
00:45:21.200 do
00:45:21.340 that
00:45:21.600 as far
00:45:24.280 as service
00:45:24.900 obviously
00:45:25.340 I think
00:45:25.720 McDonald's
00:45:26.500 is a great
00:45:27.200 example
00:45:27.540 where AI
00:45:28.100 you know
00:45:28.740 I don't
00:45:28.940 think many
00:45:29.280 people are
00:45:29.640 going to
00:45:30.040 be upset
00:45:30.820 if they
00:45:31.180 go into
00:45:31.440 McDonald's
00:45:32.020 and not
00:45:32.440 have to
00:45:32.740 deal
00:45:32.880 with
00:45:33.020 anyone
00:45:33.340 but
00:45:33.960 Chick-fil-A
00:45:34.560 is known
00:45:35.080 for their
00:45:35.440 service
00:45:35.960 and I
00:45:36.420 think
00:45:36.680 that
00:45:37.060 let me
00:45:37.640 ask you
00:45:37.920 this
00:45:38.180 let me
00:45:38.660 ask you
00:45:38.900 this
00:45:39.060 first of
00:45:39.460 all
00:45:39.560 I just
00:45:39.820 don't
00:45:41.220 mean
00:45:41.400 any
00:45:41.680 offense
00:45:42.140 or
00:45:42.400 anything
00:45:42.700 I
00:45:42.840 just
00:45:43.020 want
00:45:43.220 to
00:45:43.320 know
00:45:43.640 how
00:45:45.000 up to
00:45:45.820 speed
00:45:46.100 you
00:45:46.280 are
00:45:46.500 on
00:45:46.700 this
00:45:47.020 what
00:45:48.860 books
00:45:49.500 are you
00:45:49.760 reading
00:45:50.040 on
00:45:50.300 AI
00:45:50.700 are you
00:45:52.860 just
00:45:53.060 a
00:45:53.260 generalist
00:45:53.880 or
00:45:54.260 have
00:45:54.940 you
00:45:55.060 dug
00:45:55.280 in
00:45:55.460 deep
00:45:55.660 on
00:45:55.820 this
00:45:56.120 yeah
00:45:56.760 I'm
00:45:57.220 more
00:45:57.400 of a
00:45:57.620 generalist
00:45:58.080 I
00:45:58.180 have
00:45:58.340 not
00:45:58.600 done
00:45:58.940 deep
00:45:59.500 work
00:45:59.840 on
00:46:00.040 this
00:46:00.340 so
00:46:01.340 I'm
00:46:01.460 coming
00:46:01.740 just
00:46:02.040 from
00:46:02.460 a
00:46:02.860 different
00:46:03.200 perspective
00:46:04.140 about
00:46:04.660 having
00:46:04.920 done
00:46:07.060 on
00:46:07.680 this
00:46:07.880 but
00:46:08.160 you
00:46:08.980 know
00:46:09.160 just
00:46:09.800 my
00:46:10.240 feeling
00:46:10.580 like
00:46:11.000 AI
00:46:12.000 is
00:46:12.300 going
00:46:12.460 to
00:46:12.680 absolutely
00:46:13.060 be
00:46:13.260 able
00:46:13.380 to
00:46:13.560 diagnose
00:46:13.900 cancer
00:46:14.580 quicker
00:46:15.680 and more
00:46:16.140 accurately
00:46:16.460 than a
00:46:16.840 doctor
00:46:17.100 but are
00:46:17.500 you
00:46:17.640 going to
00:46:17.840 want to
00:46:18.060 sit
00:46:18.220 in front
00:46:18.540 of
00:46:18.840 a
00:46:19.000 robot
00:46:19.520 and have
00:46:19.980 the
00:46:20.140 robot
00:46:20.380 tell you
00:46:20.780 that you
00:46:21.040 have
00:46:21.200 cancer
00:46:21.560 and
00:46:21.920 explain
00:46:22.300 your
00:46:22.460 options
00:46:22.860 okay
00:46:23.180 so
00:46:23.420 Heather
00:46:23.680 there
00:46:24.060 is
00:46:24.400 a
00:46:24.580 there
00:46:24.800 and I
00:46:25.100 can't
00:46:25.260 remember
00:46:25.460 the
00:46:25.620 name
00:46:25.780 of
00:46:25.920 it
00:46:26.080 on
00:46:26.340 this
00:46:26.600 particular
00:46:27.540 subject
00:46:28.040 but I
00:46:28.540 will
00:46:28.680 look
00:46:28.840 for
00:46:29.060 it
00:46:29.240 there
00:46:30.000 is
00:46:30.220 a
00:46:37.060 however
00:46:37.780 there
00:46:38.680 are
00:46:38.900 two
00:46:39.380 companies
00:46:39.940 right
00:46:40.380 now
00:46:40.720 that
00:46:40.960 are
00:46:41.100 doing
00:46:41.360 studies
00:46:41.960 on
00:46:42.480 emotions
00:46:43.580 the
00:46:44.140 emotion
00:46:44.920 of
00:46:45.600 being
00:46:45.760 able
00:46:45.960 to
00:46:46.140 detect
00:46:46.700 it
00:46:46.960 in
00:46:47.400 someone
00:46:47.840 and
00:46:48.660 being
00:46:48.960 able
00:46:49.180 to
00:46:49.380 reflect
00:46:49.840 it
00:46:50.080 in
00:46:50.460 face
00:46:51.300 the
00:46:51.520 reason
00:46:51.940 why
00:46:52.440 that
00:46:54.840 we
00:46:55.440 don't
00:46:56.160 connect
00:46:56.640 with
00:46:57.080 robots
00:46:57.760 is
00:46:58.040 because
00:46:58.320 they
00:46:58.640 cannot
00:46:59.160 see
00:46:59.820 our
00:47:00.680 emotions
00:47:01.220 and
00:47:01.480 read
00:47:01.700 them
00:47:01.860 and
00:47:02.280 also
00:47:02.820 reflect
00:47:03.480 emotions
00:47:03.940 in
00:47:04.220 their
00:47:04.400 eyes
00:47:04.860 and
00:47:05.140 in
00:47:05.240 their
00:47:05.400 face
00:47:05.800 so
00:47:06.500 there
00:47:06.640 are
00:47:06.780 companies
00:47:07.140 now
00:47:07.520 that
00:47:07.760 are
00:47:08.020 specifically
00:47:09.240 just
00:47:10.080 working
00:47:10.620 on
00:47:10.900 cracking
00:47:11.280 the
00:47:11.560 code
00:47:11.980 of
00:47:12.620 emotional
00:47:13.360 connection
00:47:14.080 it's
00:47:15.700 going to
00:47:15.960 take
00:47:16.140 a while
00:47:16.600 but
00:47:16.820 a while
00:47:17.220 is
00:47:17.420 what
00:47:17.680 10
00:47:18.020 years
00:47:18.420 15
00:47:18.800 years
00:47:19.240 in
00:47:19.500 today's
00:47:19.940 world
00:47:20.240 and
00:47:21.220 I
00:47:21.320 think
00:47:21.440 that's
00:47:21.640 a
00:47:21.800 long
00:47:22.100 while
00:47:22.520 so
00:47:23.640 there
00:47:23.860 are
00:47:24.760 those
00:47:25.520 ideas
00:47:28.120 that
00:47:29.380 are
00:47:29.680 being

00:51:06.320 we
00:51:06.480 will

00:51:06.780 30%
00:51:07.640 of
00:51:07.900 unemployment
00:51:08.520 and
00:51:08.880 it
00:51:09.020 will
00:51:09.140 be
00:51:09.320 a
00:51:09.540 permanent
00:51:10.080 30%
00:51:10.920 unemployment
00:51:11.380 that
00:51:12.300 so
00:51:12.540 you
00:51:12.700 know
00:51:12.920 is
00:51:13.240 about
00:51:13.560 the
00:51:13.780 size
00:51:14.080 of
00:51:14.220 the
00:51:14.320 Great
00:51:14.540 Depression
00:51:14.960 when
00:51:15.860 you
00:51:16.040 have
00:51:16.460 that
00:51:16.860 how
00:51:17.740 do
00:51:17.900 you
00:51:18.060 stop
00:51:18.420 civil
00:51:18.800 unrest
00:51:19.360 how
00:51:20.060 do
00:51:20.260 you
00:51:20.420 give
00:51:20.700 people
00:51:21.120 meaning
00:51:21.700 and
00:51:22.600 how
00:51:22.880 do
00:51:23.060 you
00:51:23.680 give
00:51:25.020 people
00:51:25.320 enough
00:51:25.660 money
00:51:26.160 to
00:51:26.620 be
00:51:26.760 able
00:51:26.940 to
00:51:27.160 live
00:51:27.760 and
00:51:28.720 further
00:51:29.640 their
00:51:29.940 life
00:51:30.380 it's
00:51:31.820 fraught
00:51:32.560 with
00:51:32.780 problems
00:51:33.400 and
00:51:34.320 even
00:51:34.880 universal
00:51:35.420 basic
00:51:35.840 income
00:51:36.360 I
00:51:36.660 think
00:51:36.900 misses
00:51:37.380 the
00:51:38.000 fundamental
00:51:38.920 point
00:51:39.800 that
00:51:40.980 people
00:51:43.200 don't
00:51:43.540 want
00:51:43.780 to
00:51:43.960 live
00:51:44.540 without
00:51:45.060 a
00:51:45.340 purpose
00:51:45.900 and
00:51:46.260 too
00:51:46.560 many
00:51:47.080 people
00:51:47.560 get
00:51:47.960 their
00:51:48.220 purpose
00:51:48.680 from
00:51:49.080 their
00:51:49.340 job
00:51:50.000 especially
00:51:50.840 men
00:51:51.460 we
00:51:53.020 can't
00:51:53.540 just
00:51:53.960 look
00:51:54.280 at
00:51:54.460 the
00:51:54.640 money
00:51:54.960 problem
00:51:55.540 and
00:51:56.920 you
00:51:57.080 can't
00:51:57.540 just
00:51:58.020 give
00:51:58.640 people
00:51:59.160 stuff
00:51:59.620 if
00:52:00.040 you
00:52:00.220 give
00:52:00.780 people
00:52:01.260 stuff
00:52:01.660 they
00:52:01.940 value
00:52:02.500 it
00:52:02.740 less
00:52:03.120 and
00:52:04.360 most
00:52:04.780 importantly
00:52:05.260 on
00:52:06.460 this
00:52:06.840 when
00:52:09.980 you
00:52:10.200 have
00:52:10.560 a
00:52:10.740 universal
00:52:11.180 basic
00:52:11.740 income
00:52:12.240 and
00:52:13.300 70%
00:52:14.220 5%
00:52:15.060 of
00:52:15.580 the
00:52:15.780 people
00:52:16.060 can
00:52:16.540 work
00:52:17.080 what
00:52:18.260 stops
00:52:18.940 people
00:52:20.500 who
00:52:20.680 want
00:52:20.920 control
00:52:21.300 and
00:52:21.480 power
00:52:21.780 or
00:52:22.180 just
00:52:22.520 basic
00:52:23.000 human
00:52:23.600 instinct
00:52:24.220 or
00:52:24.420 human
00:52:24.780 reaction
00:52:25.500 what
00:52:26.260 stops
00:52:26.660 that
00:52:26.900 30%
00:52:27.620 from
00:52:28.000 saying
00:52:28.400 well
00:52:28.700 wait
00:52:28.900 a
00:52:29.000 minute
00:52:29.080 I
00:52:29.280 don't
00:52:29.480 have
00:52:29.700 a
00:52:29.820 job
00:52:30.040 I
00:52:30.260 can't
00:52:30.600 even
00:52:30.760 get
00:52:31.040 a
00:52:31.200 job
00:52:31.540 how
00:52:32.080 come
00:52:32.260 I
00:52:32.420 have
00:52:32.600 to
00:52:32.740 live
00:52:32.920 on
00:52:33.080 this
00:52:33.440 and
00:52:33.680 they
00:52:33.880 have
00:52:34.140 that
00:52:34.600 it
00:52:35.520 will
00:52:35.700 be
00:52:35.920 the
00:52:36.140 same
00:52:36.400 old
00:52:36.620 story
00:52:37.060 but
00:52:37.600 we
00:52:37.820 must
00:52:38.440 have
00:52:38.860 these
00:52:39.280 conversations
00:52:39.960 now
00:52:40.900 and
00:52:41.680 stop
00:52:42.760 with
00:52:43.540 the
00:52:43.780 nonsense
00:52:44.500 that
00:52:44.920 we're
00:52:45.100 dealing
00:52:45.440 with
00:52:45.880 thanks
00:52:47.800 Heather
00:52:47.960 for
00:52:48.160 your

00:52:48.640 made
00:52:49.300 a

00:52:49.520 out
00:52:49.680 to
00:52:49.820 you
00:52:50.000 and
00:52:50.300 it
00:52:50.460 will
00:52:50.580 be
00:52:50.800 in
00:52:51.080 the
00:52:51.240 mail
00:52:51.540 sponsor
00:52:52.780 this
00:52:52.980 half
00:52:53.140 hour
00:52:53.340 is
00:52:53.560 gold
00:52:53.800 line
00:52:54.060 Stu
00:52:54.800 did
00:52:55.060 you
00:52:55.200 see
00:52:55.560 the
00:52:55.760 oh
00:52:55.940 my
00:52:56.060 gosh
00:52:56.240 Nikki Haley
00:52:56.800 has
00:52:57.000 just
00:52:57.180 resigned
00:52:57.560 as
00:52:58.040 US
00:52:58.280 ambassador
00:52:58.760 just
00:52:58.920 wanted
00:52:59.040 to
00:52:59.180 jump
00:52:59.340 in
00:52:59.500 yeah
00:52:59.660 she
00:52:59.900 she
00:53:00.780 why
00:53:01.560 there's
00:53:02.640 no
00:53:02.800 word
00:53:03.020 on
00:53:03.180 that
00:53:03.340 yet
00:53:03.580 she
00:53:04.000 submitted
00:53:04.720 it
00:53:04.920 last
00:53:05.200 week
00:53:05.420 to
00:53:05.660 President
00:53:06.000 Trump
00:53:06.300 and
00:53:06.480 he
00:53:06.860 accepted
00:53:07.740 it
00:53:08.160 why
00:53:08.980 she's
00:53:09.520 great
00:53:10.300 yeah
00:53:11.300 I mean
00:53:11.660 it may
00:53:12.000 just
00:53:12.160 be her
00:53:12.420 choice
00:53:12.700 she may
00:53:13.040 have
00:53:13.240 had
00:53:13.600 enough
00:53:13.940 a lot
00:53:14.460 of
00:53:14.540 these
00:53:14.660 guys
00:53:14.840 come
00:53:15.020 in
00:53:15.140 and
00:53:15.220 they
00:53:15.320 do
00:53:15.460 a couple
00:53:15.740 of
00:53:15.860 years
00:53:16.180 and
00:53:16.460 she's
00:53:17.480 great
00:53:18.140 yeah
00:53:18.360 she's
00:53:18.580 been
00:53:18.680 great
00:53:18.940 so
00:53:19.340 there's
00:53:20.040 no
00:53:20.420 word
00:53:21.360 on
00:53:21.520 some
00:53:21.720 big
00:53:21.920 disagreement
00:53:22.420 or
00:53:22.800 anything
00:53:23.020 like
00:53:23.260 that
00:53:23.460 at
00:53:23.600 this
00:53:23.740 point
00:53:24.080 but
00:53:24.520 she's
00:53:24.920 been
00:53:25.020 a rock
00:53:25.360 star
00:53:25.660 okay
00:53:27.060 did
00:53:27.280 you
00:53:27.380 see
00:53:27.520 the
00:53:27.660 headline
00:53:34.000 Trump
00:53:34.240 is
00:53:34.680 now
00:53:35.000 making
00:53:35.460 the
00:53:35.720 Kavanaugh
00:53:37.020 confirmation
00:53:39.400 and
00:53:40.200 appointment
00:53:40.900 political
00:53:42.740 always
00:53:43.240 turning it
00:53:43.720 into a
00:53:44.020 big
00:53:44.180 political
00:53:44.580 issue
00:53:44.900 I don't
00:53:45.220 know
00:53:45.320 if
00:53:45.440 it
00:53:46.100 was
00:53:46.360 a
00:53:46.560 completely
00:53:47.220 bipartisan
00:53:48.300 love
00:53:48.860 fest
00:53:49.220 until
00:53:49.520 Donald
00:53:50.080 Trump
00:53:50.460 got
00:53:50.720 involved
00:53:51.180 and
00:53:51.660 yesterday
00:53:52.120 right
00:53:52.880 yesterday
00:53:53.240 was the
00:53:53.560 big
00:53:53.700 time
00:53:54.020 oh
00:53:54.240 my
00:53:54.420 gosh
00:53:54.760 unbelievable
00:53:55.400 unbelievable
00:53:56.300 they will
00:53:56.920 say
00:53:57.400 anything
00:53:58.540 all right
00:53:58.960 so I
00:53:59.180 want to
00:53:59.380 tell you
00:53:59.660 that I
00:54:00.100 was just
00:54:00.420 out in
00:54:00.720 Los
00:54:00.920 Angeles
00:54:01.160 and
00:54:01.360 I
00:54:01.480 met
00:54:01.660 with
00:54:01.800 the
00:54:01.880 guys
00:54:02.100 at
00:54:02.220 Gold
00:54:02.440 Line
00:54:02.700 and
00:54:03.220 they
00:54:03.700 were
00:54:03.900 working
00:54:04.200 on
00:54:04.480 a
00:54:04.760 study
00:54:05.400 and
00:54:05.620 a
00:54:05.780 report
00:54:06.200 on
00:54:07.200 the
00:54:07.440 different
00:54:07.720 things
00:54:08.200 that
00:54:08.540 could
00:54:09.080 happen
00:54:10.080 if
00:54:10.560 there
00:54:10.700 is
00:54:10.840 a
00:54:10.940 democratic
00:54:11.320 victory
00:54:11.840 if
00:54:12.560 there's
00:54:12.760 a
00:54:12.880 democratic
00:54:13.300 victory
00:54:13.740 in
00:54:14.100 the
00:54:14.220 house
00:54:14.460 and
00:54:14.700 god
00:54:15.100 forbid
00:54:15.360 the
00:54:15.560 senate
00:54:15.800 we
00:54:16.140 are
00:54:16.380 looking
00:54:16.680 at
00:54:16.960 a
00:54:17.080 different
00:54:17.360 world
00:54:17.800 and
00:54:18.260 it
00:54:18.460 the
00:54:18.580 next
00:54:18.740 two
00:54:18.920 years
00:54:19.140 are
00:54:19.300 going
00:54:19.440 to
00:54:19.520 be
00:54:19.800 very
00:54:20.420 very
00:54:20.640 different
00:54:21.060 I've
00:54:22.220 read
00:54:22.400 the
00:54:22.540 report
00:54:22.940 and
00:54:23.240 I
00:54:23.380 am
00:54:23.500 sending
00:54:23.780 it
00:54:23.960 to
00:54:24.200 my
00:54:24.560 friends
00:54:24.920 I
00:54:25.160 want
00:54:25.560 you
00:54:25.920 to
00:54:26.200 read
00:54:26.460 it
00:54:26.620 as
00:54:26.900 well
00:54:27.260 I
00:54:28.340 buy
00:54:28.560 gold
00:54:28.840 and
00:54:29.040 silver
00:54:29.280 as
00:54:29.700 an
00:54:29.820 insurance
00:54:30.220 against
00:54:30.580 chaos
00:54:30.980 and
00:54:31.680 I
00:54:32.520 think
00:54:32.780 this
00:54:33.000 report
00:54:33.400 on
00:54:33.660 what
00:54:33.860 they
00:54:34.060 say
00:54:34.280 happens
00:54:34.760 is
00:54:35.880 realistic
00:54:36.960 and
00:54:38.140 it
00:54:38.480 only

00:55:07.820 go to
00:55:08.080 Robert
00:55:08.400 in
00:55:09.140 Michigan
00:55:09.560 hello
00:55:09.900 Robert
00:55:10.340 Mr.
00:55:11.900 Beck
00:55:12.040 thank you
00:55:12.440 very much
00:55:12.840 for taking
00:55:13.240 my call
00:55:13.760 you
00:55:13.900 bet
00:55:14.180 I
00:55:15.520 have
00:55:15.700 not
00:55:15.880 missed
00:55:16.140 one
00:55:16.580 of
00:55:17.600 your
00:55:17.720 shows
00:55:18.020 for
00:55:18.260 about
00:55:18.500 10
00:55:18.780 years
00:55:19.040 now
00:55:19.260 I'm
00:55:19.460 a
00:55:19.560 big
00:55:19.740 fan
00:55:20.020 thank
00:55:20.360 you
00:55:20.480 very
00:55:20.640 much
00:55:20.880 have
00:55:21.040 you
00:55:21.140 read
00:55:21.440 Addicted
00:55:21.920 Outrage
00:55:22.460 I
00:55:23.700 have
00:55:23.960 not
00:55:24.240 and
00:55:24.500 quite
00:55:24.700 frankly
00:55:25.040 that's
00:55:25.420 why
00:55:25.540 I was
00:55:26.800 hoping
00:55:27.000 I could
00:55:27.280 get
00:55:27.420 on
00:55:27.560 the
00:55:27.660 air
00:55:27.800 so
00:55:27.940 I
00:55:28.040 could
00:55:28.160 get
00:55:28.300 an
00:55:28.420 autographed
00:55:28.880 copy
00:55:29.220 oh
00:55:29.500 my
00:55:29.680 gosh
00:55:29.980 well
00:55:30.160 you
00:55:30.280 can
00:55:30.460 get
00:55:30.660 a
00:55:30.980 non
00:55:31.240 autographed
00:55:31.780 copy
00:55:32.060 at
00:55:32.260 the
00:55:32.400 bookstore
00:55:32.780 and
00:55:33.080 you
00:55:33.220 know
00:55:33.340 help
00:55:33.580 feed
00:55:34.300 my
00:55:34.540 poor
00:55:34.800 starving
00:55:35.200 children
00:55:35.600 but
00:55:35.880 yes
00:55:36.180 I
00:55:36.320 will
00:55:36.440 send
00:55:36.660 it
00:55:36.760 to
00:55:36.880 you
00:55:37.000 so
00:55:37.380 what
00:55:37.600 what
00:55:37.800 is
00:55:37.900 your
00:55:38.100 what's
00:55:38.520 your
00:55:38.620 point
00:55:38.900 here
00:55:39.120 Robert
00:55:39.460 that
00:55:40.160 you
00:55:40.240 wanted
00:55:40.420 to
00:55:40.560 call
00:55:40.740 in
00:55:40.900 about
00:55:41.040 you
00:55:41.160 know
00:55:41.320 because
00:55:42.400 I've
00:55:42.800 listened
00:55:43.040 to you
00:55:43.380 faithfully
00:55:43.840 for
00:55:44.160 quite
00:55:44.460 a long
00:55:44.780 time
00:55:45.080 I
00:55:45.380 have
00:55:46.240 a
00:55:46.560 very
00:55:46.720 similar
00:55:47.060 mindset
00:55:47.500 to
00:55:47.820 about
00:55:48.620 95
00:55:49.340 98
00:55:49.920 percent
00:55:50.200 of
00:55:50.360 everything
00:55:50.620 you
00:55:50.840 say
00:55:51.180 and
00:55:52.500 as
00:55:52.860 far
00:55:53.140 as
00:55:53.460 this
00:55:53.700 country
00:55:54.020 is
00:55:54.240 concerned
00:55:54.700 I
00:55:56.400 think
00:55:56.660 we
00:55:56.880 are
00:55:57.060 headed
00:55:57.240 for
00:55:57.460 some
00:55:57.680 sort
00:55:58.020 of
00:55:58.200 civil
00:55:58.680 war
00:55:59.120 I
00:55:59.520 think
00:55:59.720 we're
00:55:59.860 going
00:55:59.980 to
00:56:00.140 implode
00:56:00.760 from
00:56:01.060 within
00:56:01.540 as
00:56:01.800 a
00:56:01.980 country
00:56:02.440 and
00:56:04.080 I
00:56:04.780 would
00:56:05.000 be
00:56:05.240 shocked
00:56:05.840 and
00:56:06.040 I
00:56:06.160 hope
00:56:07.560 by saying
00:56:08.060 it
00:56:08.220 it
00:56:08.340 doesn't
00:56:08.600 come
00:56:08.780 true
00:56:09.020 but
00:56:09.740 I
00:56:09.840 would
00:56:09.960 be
00:56:10.120 shocked
00:56:10.440 if
00:56:10.620 someone
00:56:11.060 especially
00:56:11.660 after
00:56:11.960 the
00:56:12.140 midterms
00:56:12.580 if
00:56:12.800 the
00:56:12.960 Democrats
00:56:13.360 do
00:56:13.600 take
00:56:13.860 over
00:56:14.120 I
00:56:14.960 would
00:56:15.080 be
00:56:15.220 shocked
00:56:15.580 if
00:56:15.960 President
00:56:17.100 Trump
00:56:17.600 is
00:56:17.940 either
00:56:18.180 not
00:56:18.820 impeached
00:56:19.400 thrown
00:56:19.680 out
00:56:19.820 of
00:56:19.960 office
00:56:20.260 or
00:56:20.620 God
00:56:21.020 forbid
00:56:21.300 assassinated
00:56:22.100 okay
00:56:22.660 don't
00:56:22.980 want to
00:56:23.180 even
00:56:23.380 speculate
00:56:23.780 on that
00:56:24.320 with
00:56:24.480 the
00:56:24.700 president
00:56:25.240 Robert
00:56:26.020 thank
00:56:26.340 you
00:56:26.440 for
00:56:26.580 your
00:56:26.720 call
00:56:27.000 I
00:56:27.380 wouldn't
00:56:27.960 he
00:56:28.400 is
00:56:28.640 going
00:56:28.820 to
00:56:28.900 be
00:56:29.020 impeached
00:56:29.300 if
00:56:29.420 they
00:56:29.540 take
00:56:29.740 the
00:56:29.860 house
00:56:30.060 he
00:56:30.220 will
00:56:30.480 be
00:56:30.700 impeached
00:56:31.220 he
00:56:31.880 will
00:56:32.240 not
00:56:32.420 necessarily
00:56:32.860 be
00:56:33.120 removed
00:56:33.480 because
00:56:33.700 they
00:56:33.820 need
00:56:34.020 to
00:56:34.120 take
00:56:34.280 the
00:56:34.460 Senate
00:56:34.700 as
00:56:34.960 well
00:56:35.220 but
00:56:35.460 he
00:56:35.640 will
00:56:35.860 be
00:56:36.080 impeached
00:56:36.460 that's
00:56:36.760 a
00:56:36.960 foregone
00:56:37.340 conclusion
00:56:37.820 but
00:56:38.600 you
00:56:38.720 say
00:56:38.900 you
00:56:39.100 wouldn't
00:56:39.240 be
00:56:39.380 shocked
00:56:39.700 at
00:56:39.840 assassination
00:56:40.280 attempts
00:56:40.980 well
00:56:41.620 you
00:56:42.020 shouldn't
00:56:42.420 be
00:56:42.720 they
00:56:43.460 tried
00:56:43.720 to
00:56:43.860 kill

00:56:46.500 were
00:56:46.640 playing
00:56:47.100 baseball
00:56:48.160 just
00:56:48.440 what
00:56:48.680 18
00:56:49.060 months
00:56:49.360 ago
00:56:49.680 Rand
00:56:50.400 Paul
00:56:50.920 had
00:56:51.240 an
00:56:51.400 attack
00:56:51.760 at
00:56:51.940 his
00:56:52.180 house
00:56:52.500 they're
00:56:53.480 already
00:56:53.880 moving
00:56:54.460 in
00:56:54.660 that
00:56:54.820 direction

00:57:02.160 we'll
00:57:02.380 have
00:57:02.500 more
00:57:02.720 on
00:57:02.880 that
00:57:03.120 coming
00:57:03.440 up
00:57:03.720 also
00:57:04.720 an
00:57:04.900 incredible

00:57:05.640 we
00:57:06.120 tried
00:57:06.440 to

00:57:06.960 seven
00:57:07.260 people
00:57:07.620 and

00:57:12.140 discussion
00:57:12.740 about

00:57:14.700 can
00:57:16.200 you

00:57:20.620 the

00:57:22.060 and
00:57:23.200 get
00:57:23.440 them
00:57:23.660 to
00:57:23.900 agree
00:57:24.240 on
00:57:24.620 anything
00:57:25.540 regarding
00:57:26.400 guns
00:57:26.960 it
00:57:27.520 didn't
00:57:27.880 turn
00:57:28.140 out
00:57:28.400 the
00:57:28.600 way
00:57:28.820 we
00:57:29.220 expected
00:57:29.940 it
00:57:31.460 it
00:57:32.080 actually
00:57:32.540 taught
00:57:34.440 us
00:57:34.660 something
00:57:34.940 really
00:57:35.500 important
00:57:36.040 and
00:57:36.320 we
00:57:36.440 have
00:57:36.640 that
00:57:36.980 coming
00:57:37.600 up
00:57:37.880 next
00:57:38.240 hour
00:57:38.600 as
00:57:39.720 we

00:57:40.480 Batal
00:57:40.820 out
00:57:41.120 to
00:57:42.080 do
00:57:42.280 our
00:57:42.480 evil
00:57:42.840 bidding
00:57:43.240 let's
00:57:44.200 go to
00:57:44.580 Kelly
00:57:44.980 in
00:57:45.480 Oregon
00:57:45.940 jeez
00:57:46.860 god
00:57:47.080 bless
00:57:47.320 you
00:57:47.440 Kelly
00:57:47.620 how
00:57:47.800 are
00:57:47.960 you
00:57:48.800 I'm
00:57:49.400 good
00:57:49.680 but I
00:57:52.420 don't
00:57:52.560 have
00:57:52.740 Antifa
00:57:53.100 running
00:57:53.480 cities
00:57:53.900 in
00:57:54.080 my
00:57:54.240 state
00:57:54.540 so
00:57:54.840 I
00:57:55.500 know
00:57:55.840 I
00:57:56.140 know
00:57:56.420 it's
00:57:56.600 a little
00:57:56.840 bit
00:57:57.060 scary
00:57:57.420 here
00:57:57.760 in
00:57:57.900 Oregon
00:57:58.260 it
00:57:58.900 is
00:57:59.120 actually
00:58:01.160 I
00:58:02.100 live
00:58:02.480 in
00:58:02.640 Springfield
00:58:03.200 which
00:58:03.560 is
00:58:03.840 a little
00:58:04.120 bit
00:58:04.280 more
00:58:04.480 conservative
00:58:05.020 than
00:58:05.700 other
00:58:06.580 places
00:58:07.020 but I
00:58:08.080 wanted
00:58:08.320 to say
00:58:08.720 thank you
00:58:09.240 for your
00:58:09.640 book
00:58:09.920 I'm
00:58:10.120 listening
00:58:10.400 to it
00:58:11.000 on
00:58:11.720 audio
00:58:12.280 so it's
00:58:12.960 a lot
00:58:13.460 of fun
00:58:13.800 you did
00:58:14.060 a great
00:58:14.420 job
00:58:14.860 thank you
00:58:15.260 I
00:58:15.860 wanted
00:58:16.420 to say
00:58:16.680 thank you
00:58:17.020 for your
00:58:17.340 references
00:58:17.780 in the
00:58:18.800 food
00:58:19.220 section
00:58:19.900 that's a
00:58:22.700 little
00:58:22.940 misleading
00:58:23.380 because I
00:58:23.960 think I
00:58:24.340 talk about
00:58:24.740 food
00:58:25.020 a lot
00:58:25.940 let me
00:58:27.700 tell you
00:58:28.420 what it
00:58:28.760 is
00:58:29.080 where
00:58:30.100 you take
00:58:30.960 it
00:58:31.200 the
00:58:32.280 McDonald's
00:58:33.040 one
00:58:33.480 and the
00:58:34.340 31 flavors
00:58:36.200 with
00:58:36.840 Baskin
00:58:37.240 Robbins
00:58:37.740 explaining
00:58:39.180 President
00:58:39.660 Trump
00:58:40.080 I
00:58:40.900 have been
00:58:41.720 able to
00:58:42.100 use those
00:58:42.720 references
00:58:43.280 in saying
00:58:45.080 that there
00:58:45.640 are some
00:58:46.060 good things
00:58:46.540 about him
00:58:47.320 to my
00:58:48.000 liberal
00:58:48.340 friends
00:58:48.880 you don't
00:58:49.780 have to
00:58:50.160 like
00:58:50.380 everything
00:58:50.820 about
00:58:51.180 him
00:58:51.340 but there
00:58:51.620 are some
00:58:52.020 good
00:58:52.260 things
00:58:52.640 I mean
00:58:52.920 you like
00:58:53.220 McDonald's
00:58:53.920 I mean
00:58:54.140 you like
00:58:54.360 the french
00:58:54.760 fries
00:58:55.080 so you
00:58:55.980 don't hate
00:58:56.400 everything
00:58:56.960 about
00:58:57.260 McDonald's
00:58:57.940 you like
00:58:58.260 the fries
00:58:58.800 right
00:58:59.240 and so
00:59:00.260 I've been
00:59:00.600 able to
00:59:00.940 kind of
00:59:01.220 use that
00:59:01.900 in a
00:59:02.220 joking
00:59:02.500 way
00:59:02.920 and
00:59:03.480 kind of
00:59:03.880 to get
00:59:04.160 them to
00:59:04.660 maybe see
00:59:05.300 a little
00:59:05.880 bit of
00:59:06.300 I like
00:59:06.960 him a
00:59:07.300 little
00:59:07.480 bit
00:59:07.820 you don't
00:59:08.320 have to
00:59:08.540 like him
00:59:08.860 personally
00:59:09.360 so
00:59:09.860 anyways
00:59:10.580 I just
00:59:11.060 really
00:59:11.340 enjoyed
00:59:11.680 that part
00:59:12.160 about
00:59:12.400 your
00:59:12.540 book
00:59:12.880 and being
00:59:13.380 able to
00:59:13.800 use that
00:59:14.500 because I
00:59:15.000 can laugh
00:59:15.400 about it
00:59:15.860 and we can
00:59:16.400 laugh about
00:59:16.840 food
00:59:17.320 and so
00:59:17.860 anyway
00:59:18.600 Kelly
00:59:19.360 thank you
00:59:20.320 thank you
00:59:21.340 very much
00:59:21.940 stay strong
00:59:22.860 in Oregon
00:59:23.380 we'll send
00:59:24.100 you a copy
00:59:24.440 of the
00:59:24.760 book
00:59:25.160 signed
00:59:25.480 to you
00:59:25.920 listen
00:59:27.200 the
00:59:27.520 point I
00:59:28.660 make in
00:59:28.960 the book
00:59:29.220 about
00:59:29.460 McDonald's
00:59:30.140 is
00:59:30.720 it's one
00:59:32.000 way you
00:59:32.300 can tell
00:59:32.820 if people
00:59:33.480 are being
00:59:34.300 disingenuous
00:59:35.100 if you
00:59:35.980 have
00:59:36.300 nothing
00:59:37.040 good to
00:59:37.740 say
00:59:38.080 about
00:59:38.440 someone
00:59:38.780 I mean
00:59:39.260 nothing
00:59:40.140 everything
00:59:41.760 is bad
00:59:42.440 really
00:59:44.320 really
00:59:45.840 I mean
00:59:47.200 even
00:59:47.980 even
00:59:48.700 people
00:59:49.320 who
00:59:49.920 you know
00:59:51.600 were
00:59:52.320 trying
00:59:53.060 to say
00:59:53.520 something
00:59:53.840 good
00:59:54.140 about
00:59:54.480 Adolf
00:59:54.840 Hitler
00:59:55.160 the
00:59:56.540 Audubon
00:59:57.100 the
00:59:58.080 Audubon
00:59:58.620 okay
00:59:59.060 doesn't
00:59:59.560 really
00:59:59.800 outbalance
01:00:00.520 our way
01:00:01.020 the other
01:00:01.440 but okay
01:00:02.420 you can't
01:00:04.240 find anything
01:00:04.800 and I
01:00:05.220 compared
01:00:05.780 the news
01:00:06.440 coverage
01:00:06.980 to a
01:00:07.700 bunch
01:00:07.860 of people
01:00:08.260 who are
01:00:08.620 just
01:00:08.860 telling
01:00:09.260 you
01:00:09.580 that
01:00:10.120 everything
01:00:10.720 about
01:00:11.140 McDonald's
01:00:11.860 sucks
01:00:12.440 everything
01:00:14.120 if they
01:00:15.140 don't
01:00:15.520 mention
01:00:15.840 that
01:00:16.040 they
01:00:16.260 okay
01:00:16.540 but I
01:00:16.800 gotta
01:00:16.940 tell
01:00:17.140 you
01:00:17.240 the
01:00:17.360 fries
01:00:17.660 are
01:00:17.760 the
01:00:17.860 best
01:00:18.080 fries
01:00:18.460 ever
01:00:19.060 if
01:00:19.700 they
01:00:19.920 can't
01:00:20.400 admit
01:00:20.760 that
01:00:21.060 McDonald's
01:00:21.680 fry
01:00:21.960 is
01:00:22.280 superior
01:00:22.820 even
01:00:23.780 if
01:00:23.980 they
01:00:24.160 hate
01:00:24.580 everything
01:00:25.320 else
01:00:25.840 they're
01:00:27.020 not an
01:00:27.340 honest
01:00:27.600 broker
01:00:27.980 they're
01:00:28.800 not an
01:00:29.320 honest
01:00:29.600 broker
01:00:29.980 it's
01:00:30.320 called
01:00:30.480 an
01:00:30.600 egg
01:00:30.740 McMuffin
01:00:31.160 too
01:00:31.360 by the
01:00:31.600 way
01:00:31.900 and a
01:00:32.880 McGriddle
01:00:33.280 I
01:00:33.500 could
01:00:33.640 go on
01:00:34.200 and
01:00:34.580 and I
01:00:35.540 could
01:00:35.940 have
01:00:36.240 but I
01:00:36.680 didn't
01:00:37.220 let me
01:00:37.860 go to
01:00:38.160 Aaron
01:00:38.480 in
01:00:38.820 Indiana
01:00:39.180 hello
01:00:39.540 Aaron
01:00:40.020 hey
01:00:41.600 Glenn
01:00:41.960 what an
01:00:43.080 honor it
01:00:43.520 is to
01:00:43.900 speak with
01:00:44.920 you
01:00:45.060 thank you
01:00:45.460 sir
01:00:45.680 after
01:00:48.660 reading
01:00:49.220 the book
01:00:49.800 I mean
01:00:50.360 I had
01:00:50.660 a roller
01:00:51.380 coaster
01:00:51.800 ride
01:00:53.280 of
01:00:53.520 different
01:00:54.040 emotions
01:00:54.500 and
01:00:55.080 the thing
01:00:56.280 that struck
01:00:56.680 me the
01:00:57.040 most
01:00:57.420 is
01:00:58.180 the
01:00:59.200 algorithms
01:00:59.860 that are
01:01:01.380 being
01:01:01.580 programmed
01:01:02.160 you know
01:01:02.840 retaining
01:01:03.240 life and
01:01:03.900 death
01:01:04.240 and
01:01:04.580 as a
01:01:06.700 nation
01:01:06.980 I haven't
01:01:07.620 even heard
01:01:07.960 of it
01:01:08.240 before
01:01:08.520 your
01:01:08.740 book
01:01:09.060 and
01:01:09.380 nobody
01:01:09.880 is
01:01:10.000 speaking
01:01:10.220 about
01:01:10.480 it
01:01:10.740 yeah
01:01:11.460 and
01:01:11.600 it's
01:01:11.740 kind
01:01:11.920 of
01:01:12.020 a
01:01:12.120 big
01:01:12.280 one
01:01:12.480 isn't
01:01:12.720 it
01:01:12.980 I'm
01:01:13.460 trying
01:01:13.600 to
01:01:13.700 remember
01:01:13.920 what
01:01:14.080 it's
01:01:14.220 called
01:01:14.460 the
01:01:14.740 what
01:01:15.660 is
01:01:15.820 it
01:01:15.940 from
01:01:16.140 MIT
01:01:16.520 Stu
01:01:17.000 remember
01:01:17.360 I
01:01:17.480 brought
01:01:17.660 that
01:01:17.860 in
01:01:18.140 it's
01:01:19.640 oh
01:01:20.060 shoot
01:01:20.360 I
01:01:20.880 can't
01:01:21.100 remember
01:01:21.360 what
01:01:21.500 the
01:01:21.600 name
01:01:21.740 of
01:01:21.860 it
01:01:21.940 is
01:01:22.080 now
01:01:22.380 from
01:01:23.080 MIT
01:01:23.400 but
01:01:23.760 MIT
01:01:24.200 is
01:01:24.720 now
01:01:25.200 doing
01:01:25.980 research
01:01:26.520 on
01:01:27.040 who
01:01:27.760 lives
01:01:28.100 and
01:01:28.260 who
01:01:28.400 dies
01:01:28.800 it's
01:01:29.100 basically
01:01:29.420 the
01:01:29.680 complete
01:01:30.080 live
01:01:30.480 system
01:01:30.980 except
01:01:31.340 it's
01:01:31.680 going
01:01:31.960 to
01:01:32.100 be
01:01:32.260 for
01:01:32.540 your
01:01:32.900 auto
01:01:33.880 driving
01:01:34.360 car
01:01:34.940 and
01:01:36.160 it
01:01:36.300 will
01:01:36.420 be
01:01:36.600 able
01:01:36.860 to
01:01:37.420 know
01:01:37.960 who's
01:01:38.380 in
01:01:38.500 the
01:01:38.620 car
01:01:38.940 who's
01:01:39.320 on
01:01:39.440 the
01:01:39.580 sidewalk
01:01:39.980 who's
01:01:40.480 in
01:01:40.580 the
01:01:40.700 crosswalk
01:01:41.360 it
01:01:41.880 will
01:01:42.040 know
01:01:42.320 their
01:01:42.540 value
01:01:42.960 to
01:01:43.220 society
01:01:43.880 what
01:01:44.260 their
01:01:44.440 job
01:01:44.980 is
01:01:45.280 how
01:01:45.480 old
01:01:45.840 they
01:01:46.020 are
01:01:46.260 are
01:01:46.480 they
01:01:46.660 sick
01:01:47.080 are
01:01:47.280 they
01:01:47.460 well
01:01:47.860 and
01:01:48.400 it
01:01:48.640 will
01:01:48.820 calculate
01:01:49.380 in
01:01:49.760 a
01:01:49.980 fraction
01:01:50.360 of
01:01:50.560 a
01:01:50.700 second
01:01:50.980 who
01:01:51.760 dies
01:01:52.300 who
01:01:52.680 lives
01:01:53.100 where
01:01:53.500 do
01:01:53.640 I
01:01:53.780 steer
01:01:54.020 the
01:01:54.200 car
01:01:54.540 that's
01:01:55.560 being
01:01:55.760 decided
01:01:56.200 now
01:01:56.860 are
01:01:58.300 you
01:01:58.520 involved
01:01:58.920 in
01:01:59.120 that
01:01:59.300 at
01:01:59.420 all
01:01:59.680 because
01:02:00.400 I'm
01:02:00.640 not
01:02:00.980 and
01:02:02.940 that's
01:02:03.220 pretty
01:02:03.420 frightening
01:02:03.900 that's
01:02:04.700 pretty
01:02:04.940 frightening
01:02:05.440 Aaron
01:02:06.900 thank you
01:02:07.360 so much
01:02:07.740 go ahead
01:02:08.860 thank you
01:02:09.360 Glenn
01:02:09.600 you bet
01:02:10.120 oh
01:02:10.360 no
01:02:10.600 I
01:02:10.860 I
01:02:11.380 had
01:02:11.640 look
01:02:12.680 at my
01:02:13.000 children
01:02:13.400 and then
01:02:13.840 hear
01:02:14.080 you know
01:02:14.660 hear about
01:02:16.160 these
01:02:16.480 things
01:02:16.900 and it
01:02:17.500 just
01:02:17.820 saddens
01:02:18.580 me
01:02:18.780 that
01:02:19.040 yeah
01:02:19.260 as a
01:02:19.600 nation
01:02:19.940 we
01:02:21.260 can't
01:02:21.820 even
01:02:22.040 get past
01:02:22.780 simple
01:02:24.040 things
01:02:24.440 let alone
01:02:25.000 you know
01:02:25.680 these
01:02:25.960 life
01:02:26.760 changing
01:02:27.260 decisions
01:02:27.760 being
01:02:28.020 made
01:02:28.340 so
01:02:28.640 thank
01:02:29.620 you
01:02:29.860 you
01:02:30.040 bet
01:02:30.260 Aaron
01:02:30.520 thank
01:02:30.760 you
01:02:30.880 so
01:02:31.040 much
01:02:31.340 Sean
01:02:32.000 you've
01:02:32.260 read
01:02:32.400 Addicted
01:02:32.720 to
01:02:32.900 Outrage
01:02:33.420 welcome
01:02:34.480 to the
01:02:34.760 program
01:02:35.080 hey
01:02:36.920 how are
01:02:37.700 you
01:02:37.860 very
01:02:38.180 good
01:02:38.540 good
01:02:39.880 yeah
01:02:40.520 one of
01:02:42.100 the things
01:02:42.500 that
01:02:42.880 really
01:02:43.780 surprised
01:02:44.200 me
01:02:44.420 as I
01:02:44.700 was
01:02:44.820 going
01:02:45.000 through
01:02:45.180 reading
01:02:45.560 it
01:02:45.820 and it
01:02:46.000 was
01:02:46.240 you
01:02:47.400 I
01:02:47.960 went
01:02:48.340 back
01:02:48.540 to
01:02:48.700 school
01:02:48.880 at
01:02:49.000 40
01:02:49.320 you
01:02:49.600 know
01:02:49.720 disabled
01:02:50.120 vet
01:02:50.560 you
01:02:50.920 know
01:02:51.060 so
01:02:51.300 I
01:02:51.900 end
01:02:52.040 up
01:02:52.160 going
01:02:52.320 back
01:02:52.520 to
01:02:52.660 college
01:02:53.040 and
01:02:53.760 I
01:02:54.320 end
01:02:54.480 up
01:02:54.580 becoming
01:02:54.860 friends
01:02:55.380 with
01:02:55.660 a
01:02:58.020 liberal
01:02:58.480 professor
01:02:59.080 head
01:03:00.960 of
01:03:01.480 the
01:03:01.760 LBGT
01:03:02.860 I
01:03:03.960 mean
01:03:04.160 really
01:03:04.560 really
01:03:04.860 liberal
01:03:05.180 and
01:03:05.540 I'm
01:03:05.920 really
01:03:06.320 really
01:03:06.680 not
01:03:07.140 right
01:03:07.920 and
01:03:08.320 I
01:03:08.880 can
01:03:09.080 never
01:03:09.400 understand
01:03:10.260 why
01:03:11.120 nobody
01:03:11.700 on
01:03:11.940 campus
01:03:12.380 could
01:03:12.660 understand
01:03:13.200 how
01:03:14.000 we
01:03:14.160 could
01:03:14.260 be
01:03:14.400 front
01:03:14.740 you
01:03:16.500 know
01:03:16.680 well
01:03:17.320 after
01:03:17.620 reading
01:03:17.980 Addicted
01:03:18.340 Outrage
01:03:18.880 no
01:03:20.040 I
01:03:20.200 get
01:03:20.380 it
01:03:20.700 you
01:03:21.680 know
01:03:21.800 because
01:03:22.200 we
01:03:23.220 could
01:03:23.400 sit
01:03:23.600 there
01:03:23.940 and
01:03:24.420 we
01:03:24.760 could
01:03:24.940 discuss
01:03:25.620 problems
01:03:26.820 right
01:03:27.400 we
01:03:27.580 could
01:03:27.760 agree
01:03:28.220 on
01:03:29.420 the
01:03:29.920 problem
01:03:30.360 now
01:03:30.640 we
01:03:30.800 couldn't
01:03:31.120 agree
01:03:31.580 on
01:03:32.280 how
01:03:32.440 to
01:03:32.580 fix
01:03:32.880 the
01:03:33.080 problem
01:03:33.540 but
01:03:34.380 we
01:03:34.560 could
01:03:34.700 have
01:03:34.980 a
01:03:35.160 civil
01:03:35.600 conversation
01:03:36.360 between
01:03:36.780 the
01:03:36.980 two
01:03:37.160 of
01:03:37.360 us
01:03:37.600 and
01:03:37.800 agree
01:03:38.240 that
01:03:39.040 it
01:03:39.200 was
01:03:39.420 a
01:03:39.580 problem
01:03:39.980 now
01:03:40.920 nobody
01:03:41.280 else
01:03:41.760 could
01:03:43.200 sit
01:03:43.420 there
01:03:43.820 and
01:03:44.800 even
01:03:45.080 agree
01:03:45.540 that
01:03:46.620 it
01:03:47.560 was
01:03:47.760 a
01:03:47.900 problem
01:03:48.200 so
01:03:48.520 is
01:03:49.980 your
01:03:50.360 did
01:03:50.760 you
01:03:50.880 read
01:03:51.020 the
01:03:51.140 section
01:03:51.400 yet
01:03:51.580 about
01:03:51.780 the
01:03:51.980 unum
01:03:52.400 you
01:03:55.260 I'm
01:03:56.340 about
01:03:56.580 halfway
01:03:57.400 okay
01:03:57.940 you gotta
01:03:58.860 forgive
01:03:59.300 me
01:03:59.540 I'm
01:03:59.980 a
01:04:00.140 little
01:04:00.260 bit
01:04:00.420 of
01:04:00.540 a
01:04:00.660 brain
01:04:00.880 frog
01:04:01.220 no
01:04:01.740 no
01:04:01.920 no
01:04:02.040 that's
01:04:02.300 that's
01:04:02.540 fine
01:04:02.660 concussions
01:04:04.100 through my
01:04:04.600 military
01:04:04.980 service
01:04:05.440 so
01:04:05.940 thank you
01:04:06.520 for that
01:04:06.860 and that's
01:04:07.320 right now
01:04:07.820 are we
01:04:08.820 taking care
01:04:09.480 of you
01:04:09.740 as a
01:04:09.980 country
01:04:10.360 uh
01:04:12.040 yeah
01:04:12.300 actually
01:04:12.860 I'm
01:04:13.040 one of
01:04:13.280 the
01:04:13.400 fortunate
01:04:13.740 ones
01:04:14.160 but
01:04:14.480 you know
01:04:14.940 I mean
01:04:15.180 I'm
01:04:15.900 also
01:04:16.140 a
01:04:16.360 jerk
01:04:16.560 about
01:04:16.840 it
01:04:17.000 and
01:04:17.200 fight
01:04:17.920 to
01:04:18.120 make
01:04:18.360 sure
01:04:18.520 that
01:04:18.700 they
01:04:18.900 do
01:04:19.840 the
01:04:19.980 right
01:04:20.140 thing
01:04:20.400 so
01:04:20.580 good
01:04:20.860 Sean
01:04:22.340 when
01:04:23.660 you
01:04:23.780 get
01:04:23.920 to
01:04:24.040 the
01:04:24.200 unum
01:04:24.560 part
01:04:24.960 you
01:04:25.280 will
01:04:25.600 I
01:04:26.000 think
01:04:26.360 possibly
01:04:27.460 and I
01:04:27.760 would
01:04:27.860 love
01:04:28.060 for you
01:04:28.260 to
01:04:28.400 call
01:04:28.540 back
01:04:28.780 and
01:04:28.960 tell
01:04:29.140 me
01:04:29.300 if
01:04:29.440 this
01:04:29.620 is
01:04:29.760 right
01:04:30.080 you
01:04:30.880 will
01:04:31.040 possibly
01:04:31.520 understand
01:04:32.220 why
01:04:32.720 the
01:04:32.960 two
01:04:33.220 of
01:04:33.400 you
01:04:33.620 can
01:04:33.920 get
01:04:34.120 along
01:04:34.520 if
01:04:35.440 it's
01:04:35.700 not
01:04:36.260 because
01:04:36.840 of
01:04:37.260 that
01:04:37.620 I
01:04:38.840 really
01:04:39.160 want
01:04:39.380 to
01:04:39.480 know
01:04:39.760 because
01:04:40.540 my
01:04:41.520 thesis
01:04:42.000 is
01:04:42.540 that
01:04:42.980 we
01:04:45.260 can
01:04:45.720 fix
01:04:46.120 this
01:04:46.440 and
01:04:46.700 we
01:04:46.880 can
01:04:47.220 come
01:04:47.540 together
01:04:47.980 but
01:04:48.740 only
01:04:49.460 if
01:04:49.860 we
01:04:50.220 only
01:04:51.720 if
01:04:52.000 we
01:04:52.160 can
01:04:52.380 unite
01:04:52.980 around
01:04:53.860 the
01:04:54.120 things
01:04:54.480 that
01:04:54.680 brought
01:04:54.940 us
01:04:55.160 together
01:04:55.600 in
01:04:55.960 the
01:04:56.100 first
01:04:56.300 place
01:04:56.680 and
01:04:57.480 that's
01:04:57.740 the
01:04:57.880 bill
01:04:58.020 of
01:04:58.160 rights
01:04:58.540 that
01:04:59.420 allows
01:05:00.300 people
01:05:00.800 to
01:05:01.100 disagree
01:05:01.720 and
01:05:02.480 walk
01:05:02.760 away
01:05:02.980 from
01:05:03.220 each
01:05:03.400 other
01:05:03.600 without
01:05:03.880 hating
01:05:04.280 because
01:05:04.920 you
01:05:05.180 understand
01:05:05.780 you
01:05:06.320 have
01:05:06.740 a
01:05:06.920 right
01:05:07.280 to
01:05:07.540 believe
01:05:07.900 that
01:05:08.280 and
01:05:09.160 if
01:05:09.460 you
01:05:09.660 have
01:05:09.960 the
01:05:10.160 same
01:05:10.520 unum
01:05:10.980 of
01:05:11.400 the
01:05:12.000 Judeo
01:05:12.480 Western
01:05:12.760 culture
01:05:13.360 which
01:05:13.720 is
01:05:14.120 you
01:05:14.320 know
01:05:14.440 don't
01:05:14.720 steal
01:05:15.060 don't
01:05:15.340 lie
01:05:15.640 don't
01:05:15.940 cheat
01:05:16.240 don't
01:05:16.580 kill
01:05:16.960 well
01:05:18.060 those
01:05:18.500 things
01:05:18.860 are
01:05:19.020 what
01:05:19.160 brought
01:05:19.380 us
01:05:19.520 together
01:05:19.880 our
01:05:20.460 Judeo
01:05:20.980 Christian
01:05:21.280 culture
01:05:21.700 and
01:05:22.420 our
01:05:22.700 bill
01:05:22.860 of
01:05:23.000 rights
01:05:23.380 if
01:05:24.580 we
01:05:24.800 have
01:05:25.120 those
01:05:25.520 things
01:05:25.860 in
01:05:26.100 common
01:05:26.500 we
01:05:27.240 can
01:05:27.460 unite
01:05:27.920 unfortunately
01:05:29.260 the
01:05:29.820 people
01:05:30.160 in
01:05:30.380 Antifa
01:05:30.760 do
01:05:31.100 not
01:05:31.620 have
01:05:32.040 those
01:05:32.340 things
01:05:32.660 the
01:05:33.000 Nazis
01:05:33.500 do
01:05:33.900 not
01:05:34.320 have
01:05:34.680 those
01:05:34.980 things
01:05:35.380 I
01:05:36.400 think
01:05:36.660 the
01:05:36.840 parties
01:05:37.320 are
01:05:37.880 disavowing
01:05:38.840 those
01:05:39.260 things
01:05:39.700 because
01:05:40.040 well
01:05:40.680 it
01:05:40.820 take
01:05:41.160 everything
01:05:41.540 we
01:05:41.920 have
01:05:42.260 to
01:05:42.520 win
01:05:43.400 the
01:05:44.920 people
01:05:45.620 if
01:05:46.340 they're
01:05:46.560 reminded
01:05:47.120 I
01:05:49.520 believe
01:05:49.980 they do
01:05:50.460 have
01:05:50.820 those
01:05:51.100 things
01:05:51.520 we
01:05:52.140 just
01:05:52.440 don't
01:05:52.720 believe
01:05:53.100 the
01:05:53.360 other
01:05:53.720 person
01:05:54.200 has
01:05:54.640 it
01:05:54.800 as
01:05:55.080 well
01:05:55.460 when
01:05:56.380 we
01:05:56.580 can
01:05:56.760 find
01:05:57.260 that
01:05:57.900 in
01:05:58.520 the
01:05:58.720 other
01:05:59.000 person
01:05:59.520 Ten
01:06:00.800 Commandments
01:06:01.360 man
01:06:01.680 forget
01:06:02.120 about
01:06:02.400 the
01:06:02.560 God
01:06:02.800 stuff
01:06:03.300 that
01:06:04.140 shall
01:06:04.280 not
01:06:04.440 kill
01:06:04.820 we
01:06:05.080 shouldn't
01:06:05.380 sleep
01:06:05.740 with
01:06:06.000 the
01:06:06.480 neighbor
01:06:06.860 the
01:06:07.560 neighbor's
01:06:07.940 wife
01:06:08.340 I
01:06:08.540 shouldn't
01:06:08.900 covet
01:06:09.180 what
01:06:09.460 you
01:06:09.680 have
01:06:10.280 you
01:06:10.880 know
01:06:11.000 all
01:06:11.200 those
01:06:11.420 things
01:06:11.720 lie
01:06:12.100 cheat
01:06:12.500 steal
01:06:12.920 and
01:06:13.940 the
01:06:14.060 Bill
01:06:14.180 of
01:06:14.300 Rights
01:06:14.680 you
01:06:15.620 have
01:06:15.840 those
01:06:16.260 we
01:06:17.800 can
01:06:17.980 fix
01:06:18.220 it
01:06:18.560 find
01:06:19.800 those
01:06:20.620 people
01:06:21.080 interested
01:06:34.820 interested
01:06:34.840 to see
01:06:35.340 what
01:06:35.620 Nikki
01:06:36.860 Haley
01:06:37.200 has
01:06:37.740 to
01:06:37.900 say
01:06:38.080 about
01:06:38.420 her
01:06:39.180 resignation
01:06:39.680 we'll
01:06:41.760 get to
01:06:41.960 that
01:06:42.140 it
01:06:42.280 is
01:06:42.440 an
01:06:42.560 interesting
01:06:42.920 world
01:06:43.280 we're
01:06:43.520 not
01:06:43.660 going to
01:06:43.820 have
01:06:43.940 a
01:06:44.040 problem
01:06:44.220 with
01:06:44.360 the
01:06:44.460 tour
01:06:44.680 lots
01:06:45.180 of
01:06:45.760 material
01:06:46.280 lots
01:06:47.140 of
01:06:47.300 material
01:06:47.740 I
01:06:48.320 mean
01:06:48.500 you
01:06:48.620 never
01:06:48.800 know
01:06:49.080 when
01:06:49.240 these
01:06:49.400 things
01:06:49.680 you
01:06:49.820 never
01:06:49.920 know
01:06:50.060 what
01:06:50.160 kind
01:06:50.280 of
01:06:50.420 you
01:06:50.740 know
01:06:50.840 news
01:06:51.100 cycle
01:06:51.380 you're
01:06:51.580 going to
01:06:51.760 be
01:06:51.920 in
01:06:52.160 sometimes
01:06:52.820 you have
01:06:53.320 fun stuff
01:06:53.760 to talk
01:06:54.020 about
01:06:54.180 sometimes
01:06:54.420 you don't
01:06:54.820 not a
01:06:55.240 problem
01:06:55.520 anymore
01:06:55.820 this is
01:06:56.320 not
01:06:56.560 this
01:06:56.820 society
01:06:57.240 is
01:06:57.420 providing
01:06:57.740 plenty
01:06:58.140 yeah
01:06:58.520 we can
01:06:58.800 either
01:06:58.940 laugh
01:06:59.240 or we
01:06:59.480 could
01:06:59.600 cry
01:06:59.820 so let's
01:07:00.180 get
01:07:00.280 together
01:07:00.540 and
01:07:00.720 laugh
01:07:01.060 it
01:07:01.680 is
01:07:01.920 the
01:07:02.120 addicted
01:07:02.360 to
01:07:02.560 outrage
01:07:02.900 tour
01:07:03.280 the
01:07:04.740 antidote
01:07:05.400 to
01:07:05.860 you know
01:07:06.720 other
01:07:07.040 options
01:07:07.440 of
01:07:07.720 like
01:07:16.280 Richmond
01:07:16.660 Hershey
01:07:17.320 Pittsburgh
01:07:18.640 Cleveland
01:07:19.620 Kansas
01:07:19.980 City
01:07:20.240 Evansville
01:07:20.880 Tulsa
01:07:21.580 Tampa
01:07:22.000 and
01:07:22.220 Orlando
01:07:22.560 yeah
01:07:22.920 and
01:07:23.140 I've
01:07:23.260 got
01:07:23.360 some
01:07:23.540 suggestions
01:07:23.900 for
01:07:24.160 the
01:07:24.260 Democrats
01:07:24.660 you know
01:07:25.040 who
01:07:25.560 they
01:07:25.760 should
01:07:25.920 run
01:07:26.220 in
01:07:26.400 2020
01:07:26.780 what
01:07:27.020 their
01:07:27.140 platform
01:07:27.520 should
01:07:27.740 be
01:07:27.880 maybe
01:07:28.100 some
01:07:28.300 of
01:07:28.380 their
01:07:28.480 programs
01:07:29.080 because
01:07:29.720 I
01:07:30.220 believe
01:07:30.560 I
01:07:30.760 could
01:07:30.920 out
01:07:31.100 socialize
01:07:31.760 socialists
01:07:32.500 and
01:07:33.460 so
01:07:33.920 why
01:07:34.360 not
01:07:34.620 help
01:07:35.320 them
01:07:35.580 out
01:07:35.860 just
01:07:36.160 a
01:07:36.320 bit
01:07:36.540 you're

01:07:51.340 with
01:07:51.740 five
01:07:52.300 people
01:07:52.740 when
01:07:53.900 they
01:07:54.040 came
01:07:54.260 to
01:07:54.420 us
01:07:54.760 they
01:07:55.620 were
01:07:55.780 a
01:07:55.920 group
01:07:56.040 of
01:07:56.140 guys
01:07:56.340 who
01:07:56.540 who
01:07:57.680 had
01:07:58.000 this
01:07:58.220 idea
01:07:58.580 and
01:07:59.360 said
01:07:59.780 we've
01:08:00.200 done
01:08:00.560 this
01:08:00.900 in
01:08:01.120 our
01:08:01.240 own
01:08:01.440 personal
01:08:01.740 life
01:08:02.080 and
01:08:02.240 we've
01:08:02.420 been
01:08:02.540 making
01:08:02.780 them
01:08:02.900 out
01:08:03.000 of
01:08:03.080 a
01:08:03.200 garage
01:08:03.580 and
01:08:03.760 it
01:08:03.920 really
01:08:04.380 works
01:08:04.700 well
01:08:05.000 we
01:08:05.240 want
01:08:05.540 to
01:08:05.660 try
01:08:05.940 making
01:08:06.300 them
01:08:06.540 for
01:08:06.900 the
01:08:07.140 country
01:08:07.560 and
01:08:07.800 the
01:08:07.900 world
01:08:08.220 well
01:08:08.860 now
01:08:09.000 they're
01:08:09.160 a
01:08:09.280 billion
01:08:09.540 dollar
01:08:09.820 company
01:08:10.320 but
01:08:10.660 still
01:08:10.920 run
01:08:11.200 by
01:08:11.340 the
01:08:11.460 same
01:08:11.620 people
01:08:11.980 and
01:08:12.320 they
01:08:12.440 are
01:08:12.580 really
01:08:12.920 really
01:08:13.220 good
01:08:13.460 people
01:08:13.800 I've
01:08:14.200 known
01:08:14.340 these
01:08:14.540 guys
01:08:14.720 for
01:08:14.880 a
01:08:14.980 very
01:08:15.160 long
01:08:15.440 time
01:08:15.660 I
01:08:15.820 really
01:08:16.280 like
01:08:16.640 them
01:08:16.840 and
01:08:17.940 I
01:08:18.180 like
01:08:18.840 them
01:08:19.000 because
01:08:19.540 they
01:08:20.200 are
01:08:20.380 passionate
01:08:21.000 about
01:08:21.380 what
01:08:21.560 they
01:08:21.700 do
01:08:21.980 and
01:08:22.860 they
01:08:23.700 will
01:08:24.080 not
01:08:24.640 cut
01:08:24.960 corners
01:08:25.480 I
01:08:25.920 mean
01:08:26.080 they
01:08:26.240 have
01:08:26.420 spent
01:08:26.820 they
01:08:27.040 had
01:08:27.160 a
01:08:27.280 camera
01:08:27.600 that
01:08:27.780 they
01:08:27.880 were
01:08:27.960 going
01:08:28.060 put
01:08:28.220 out
01:08:28.420 and
01:08:29.280 I
01:08:29.720 think
01:08:29.840 it
01:08:29.940 took
01:08:30.040 them
01:08:30.140 like
01:08:30.260 three
01:08:30.620 years
01:08:31.080 and
01:08:31.300 I
01:08:31.380 kept
01:08:31.520 waiting
01:08:31.680 for
01:08:31.820 this
01:08:31.960 camera
01:08:32.180 to
01:08:32.320 come
01:08:32.440 out
01:08:32.640 I
01:08:33.120 found
01:08:33.380 out
01:08:33.700 that
01:08:33.960 the
01:08:34.080 reason
01:08:34.280 why
01:08:34.460 they
01:08:34.560 wouldn't
01:08:34.740 come
01:08:34.880 out
01:08:35.020 is
01:08:35.140 they
01:08:35.240 just
01:08:35.480 didn't
01:08:35.880 like
01:08:36.140 the
01:08:36.300 material
01:08:36.740 that
01:08:36.920 was
01:08:37.040 being
01:08:37.260 used
01:08:37.480 it
01:08:37.640 just
01:08:37.920 didn't
01:08:38.200 work
01:08:38.440 the
01:08:38.600 way
01:08:38.780 they
01:08:39.020 wanted
01:08:39.400 it
01:08:39.600 to
01:08:39.780 it
01:08:40.100 would
01:08:40.220 work
01:08:40.460 fine
01:08:40.760 for
01:08:40.960 every
01:08:41.320 other
01:08:41.560 company
01:08:41.960 but
01:08:42.560 it's
01:08:42.700 not
01:08:42.900 what
01:08:43.080 they
01:08:43.360 wanted
01:08:43.800 simply
01:08:45.220 safe
01:08:45.680 the
01:08:46.100 best
01:08:46.600 protection
01:08:47.100 for
01:08:47.340 your
01:08:47.520 home
01:08:47.800 you
01:08:48.160 own
01:08:48.500 the
01:08:48.700 system
01:08:49.060 no
01:08:49.440 strings
01:08:49.900 attached
01:08:50.400 you
01:08:50.580 won't
01:08:50.760 believe
01:08:51.200 the
01:08:51.440 price
01:08:51.860 it
01:08:52.360 works
01:08:52.700 in

01:09:43.200 can
01:09:43.700 we

01:09:48.840 to
01:09:49.100 an
01:09:49.240 agreement
01:09:49.680 on
01:09:50.260 anything
01:09:51.100 will
01:09:51.920 they
01:09:52.180 listen
01:09:52.720 to
01:09:53.000 one
01:09:53.160 another
01:09:53.440 can
01:09:53.900 you
01:09:54.180 foster
01:09:54.800 this
01:09:55.640 conversation
01:09:56.320 we
01:09:57.380 learned
01:09:57.740 something
01:09:58.140 that we
01:09:58.640 didn't
01:09:58.920 expect
01:09:59.400 were you
01:09:59.920 surprised
01:10:00.320 by
01:10:00.680 all
01:10:01.200 of
01:10:01.320 this
01:10:01.480 too
01:10:01.640 yeah
01:10:02.200 i mean
01:10:02.660 it
01:10:02.960 was
01:10:03.260 it's
01:10:03.780 it's
01:10:04.000 an
01:10:04.100 enlightening
01:10:04.680 journey
01:10:06.340 kind of
01:10:06.740 through
01:10:06.900 this
01:10:07.180 because
01:10:07.520 you
01:10:07.640 could
01:10:07.760 see
01:10:08.040 that
01:10:08.380 it's
01:10:09.220 not
01:10:09.360 as
01:10:09.480 easy
01:10:09.720 as
01:10:09.980 you
01:10:10.140 want
01:10:10.320 it
01:10:10.420 to
01:10:10.520 be
01:10:10.940 you
01:10:11.580 know
01:10:11.740 we
01:10:11.860 all
01:10:12.080 the
01:10:12.200 hesitations
01:10:13.460 that we
01:10:13.680 always talk
01:10:13.980 about
01:10:14.180 you know
01:10:14.600 dealing
01:10:15.000 with people
01:10:15.500 who disagree
01:10:15.980 with you
01:10:16.400 it's hard
01:10:17.340 sometimes
01:10:17.840 man
01:10:18.140 and like
01:10:18.600 they
01:10:18.720 you know
01:10:18.920 they say
01:10:19.240 things that
01:10:19.560 are so
01:10:19.880 stupid
01:10:20.360 you feel
01:10:20.720 like
01:10:20.960 and
01:10:21.100 you
01:10:22.040 want to
01:10:22.400 just
01:10:22.520 i don't
01:10:23.580 want to
01:10:24.080 give away
01:10:24.480 the
01:10:24.740 discovery
01:10:25.940 here
01:10:26.380 because
01:10:26.600 it's
01:10:26.860 not
01:10:27.240 what i
01:10:27.500 would
01:10:27.640 have
01:10:27.740 expected
01:10:28.200 and
01:10:29.160 in
01:10:30.080 many
01:10:30.540 ways
01:10:30.920 you
01:10:31.580 understand
01:10:32.620 why
01:10:33.440 it
01:10:33.600 happened
01:10:33.940 you
01:10:34.840 absolutely
01:10:35.800 understand
01:10:36.740 one
01:10:38.520 side
01:10:38.860 will not
01:10:39.320 understand
01:10:39.720 it
01:10:40.020 the
01:10:40.380 other
01:10:40.600 side
01:10:41.020 will
01:10:41.640 understand
01:10:42.260 it
01:10:42.620 but
01:10:43.760 any
01:10:44.140 fair
01:10:44.500 person
01:10:45.000 looking
01:10:45.620 at the
01:10:45.940 whole
01:10:46.180 thing
01:10:46.500 can
01:10:46.720 go
01:10:47.000 ah
01:10:47.660 it's an
01:10:50.320 amazing
01:10:50.560 science
01:10:50.980 experiment
01:10:51.420 it really
01:10:52.080 is
01:10:52.720 now can
01:10:53.660 so what
01:10:54.740 do you
01:10:54.960 do with
01:10:55.460 this
01:10:55.840 well
01:10:57.260 we had
01:10:57.980 him put
01:10:58.660 together
01:10:59.020 a group
01:10:59.740 of people
01:11:00.260 and had
01:11:01.560 him
01:11:01.960 meet in
01:11:03.180 some
01:11:03.660 conference
01:11:04.320 room
01:11:04.580 and just
01:11:05.600 have a
01:11:05.920 conversation
01:11:06.480 with
01:11:07.700 male
01:11:08.600 female
01:11:09.220 you know
01:11:10.840 very
01:11:11.340 liberal
01:11:11.780 very
01:11:12.360 progressive
01:11:12.800 very
01:11:13.340 conservative
01:11:13.860 very
01:11:14.300 christian
01:11:14.940 you know
01:11:16.220 all of
01:11:16.880 them
01:11:17.040 all walks
01:11:17.760 of life
01:11:18.120 and have
01:11:19.180 a conversation
01:11:19.920 about
01:11:21.240 school
01:11:22.100 shootings
01:11:22.520 we take
01:11:25.100 you through
01:11:25.360 that journey
01:11:26.000 next with
01:11:27.400 the audio
01:11:28.160 and riaz
01:11:29.360 joins us
01:11:30.380 and it
01:11:32.020 is truly
01:11:32.620 it's truly
01:11:35.520 important
01:11:35.940 and
01:11:36.520 and you
01:11:38.700 will learn
01:11:39.040 something
01:11:39.460 really I
01:11:40.540 think
01:11:40.720 important
01:11:41.200 yeah
01:11:42.400 I mean
01:11:42.960 you know
01:11:43.500 you usually
01:11:43.920 don't force
01:11:44.420 yourself to
01:11:44.840 be in
01:11:45.080 these
01:11:45.220 situations
01:11:45.660 and that's
01:11:46.060 why it's
01:11:46.300 kind of
01:11:46.520 the science
01:11:47.120 experiment
01:11:47.580 right like
01:11:48.060 I feel like
01:11:48.580 this sort
01:11:49.680 of stuff
01:11:50.000 happens less
01:11:50.720 and less
01:11:51.100 in America
01:11:51.980 where people
01:11:52.600 are just
01:11:52.920 like honestly
01:11:53.980 trying to
01:11:54.820 talk about
01:11:55.420 an uncomfortable
01:11:56.380 issue
01:11:56.820 that weird
01:11:57.660 thing that we
01:11:58.040 always say
01:11:58.340 about like
01:11:58.760 don't talk
01:11:59.360 about religion
01:11:59.960 or politics
01:12:00.700 is like
01:12:01.920 it's
01:12:02.980 it's
01:12:03.140 understandable
01:12:03.620 and I
01:12:04.060 avoid them
01:12:04.460 all the time
01:12:05.000 at these
01:12:05.380 you know
01:12:05.720 parties
01:12:06.220 and stuff
01:12:06.520 because I
01:12:06.720 don't want
01:12:06.940 to deal
01:12:07.120 with it
01:12:07.440 but it
01:12:08.040 does hurt
01:12:08.640 the way
01:12:09.040 that we
01:12:09.360 actually
01:12:09.880 our ability
01:12:11.500 to persuade
01:12:12.320 people to
01:12:12.960 our point
01:12:13.680 of view
01:12:13.960 or maybe
01:12:14.380 to learn
01:12:14.640 something
01:12:14.880 that we
01:12:15.160 didn't
01:12:15.400 consider
01:12:15.780 well
01:12:16.200 you know
01:12:16.800 if you
01:12:17.160 were a
01:12:17.580 missionary
01:12:17.920 the last
01:12:18.800 thing you
01:12:19.020 would do
01:12:19.440 is go
01:12:19.900 over to
01:12:20.160 Asia
01:12:20.460 and tell
01:12:20.780 them how
01:12:21.040 stupid
01:12:21.540 Buddha
01:12:21.920 is
01:12:22.360 yeah
01:12:22.740 and that's
01:12:23.480 what we're
01:12:23.700 doing
01:12:24.000 yeah
01:12:24.380 the Westboro
01:12:24.980 Baptist
01:12:25.300 church
01:12:25.680 signs over
01:12:26.660 like you
01:12:27.120 know
01:12:27.280 God hates
01:12:27.780 Buddha
01:12:28.100 it's not
01:12:28.440 gonna be
01:12:28.700 it's not
01:12:29.100 gonna it's
01:12:29.440 not gonna
01:12:29.640 work
01:12:29.960 and and
01:12:31.020 especially
01:12:32.020 the left
01:12:33.200 is using
01:12:34.220 the Westboro
01:12:34.740 Baptist
01:12:35.100 church
01:12:35.600 tactics
01:12:36.220 oh yeah
01:12:36.700 because it
01:12:37.820 you know
01:12:38.220 politics has
01:12:38.940 become religion
01:12:39.620 for a lot
01:12:40.160 of people
01:12:40.620 we can't
01:12:41.520 do that
01:12:41.840 you will
01:12:42.320 not sway
01:12:43.540 anyone
01:12:44.580 anyone
01:12:45.880 and remember
01:12:47.200 somebody has
01:12:48.700 been swayed
01:12:49.500 who was a
01:12:50.260 family member
01:12:50.880 in the Westboro
01:12:51.820 Baptist
01:12:52.140 church
01:12:52.560 how did
01:12:53.440 it happen
01:12:53.960 kindness
01:12:55.340 reason
01:12:56.640 logic
01:12:57.880 kindness
01:12:59.800 kindness
01:13:01.100 kindness
01:13:01.980 and that
01:13:03.560 person
01:13:03.960 actually got
01:13:04.980 out
01:13:05.380 and is
01:13:06.500 wide awake
01:13:07.380 now and
01:13:07.980 sees the
01:13:08.980 evil but
01:13:09.500 she could
01:13:10.560 not see it
01:13:11.500 while the
01:13:12.180 crowd was
01:13:12.880 screaming
01:13:13.380 you know
01:13:14.440 you're wrong
01:13:15.280 you're gonna
01:13:15.800 go to hell
01:13:16.520 well really
01:13:18.040 I'm going to
01:13:18.720 hell well
01:13:19.040 you're going
01:13:19.400 to hell
01:13:19.640 because you
01:13:20.680 you know
01:13:21.100 God hates
01:13:22.080 this
01:13:22.520 whatever
01:13:23.600 play a
01:13:24.980 different game
01:13:25.840 play the
01:13:27.000 winning hand
01:13:28.080 you can find
01:13:28.920 out all about
01:13:29.460 it at
01:13:29.960 addicted to
01:13:30.800 outrage
01:13:31.540 the new
01:13:32.580 book that's
01:13:33.200 in stores
01:13:33.700 everywhere
01:13:34.220 addicted to
01:13:35.080 outrage
01:13:35.760 our science
01:13:37.160 experiment

01:13:39.300 Mercury
01:13:40.460 Glenn Beck
01:13:42.660 is coming
01:13:43.120 live to
01:13:43.720 talk about
01:13:44.140 the right
01:13:44.460 path forward
01:13:45.060 and to
01:13:45.740 make fun
01:13:46.080 of the
01:13:46.260 people
01:13:46.520 standing
01:13:46.920 in the
01:13:47.160 way
01:13:47.420 he might
01:13:47.920 not be
01:13:48.200 able to
01:13:48.460 save the
01:13:48.760 country
01:13:49.080 but at
01:13:49.580 least we
01:13:49.920 can all
01:13:50.200 go down
01:13:50.560 laughing
01:13:50.980 Glenn Beck
01:13:51.720 live
01:13:52.180 the addicted
01:13:52.800 to outrage
01:13:53.460 tour
01:13:53.800 on tour
01:13:54.780 this fall
01:13:55.460 Glenn
01:13:57.220 Beck
01:13:58.220 we want
01:14:05.560 to try
01:14:05.980 something a
01:14:06.380 little
01:14:06.480 different
01:14:06.780 this hour
01:14:07.220 I want
01:14:07.860 to talk
01:14:08.220 about
01:14:08.520 a major
01:14:09.400 issue
01:14:09.860 but I
01:14:10.500 don't want
01:14:10.720 to get
01:14:10.900 stuck in
01:14:11.300 the same
01:14:11.680 rut
01:14:12.100 so let
01:14:13.340 me bring
01:14:13.600 in my
01:14:13.840 friend
01:14:14.240 Riaz
01:14:14.900 Patel
01:14:15.320 he hates
01:14:17.180 the labels
01:14:18.280 and so do
01:14:19.520 I because I
01:14:20.140 hate the
01:14:20.480 labels that
01:14:20.960 you know
01:14:21.360 I have
01:14:21.820 you're a
01:14:22.700 progressive
01:14:23.080 gay
01:14:23.880 Muslim
01:14:24.740 immigrant
01:14:25.720 Hollywood
01:14:28.560 producer
01:14:29.320 and there's
01:14:30.800 no reason
01:14:31.280 we should
01:14:31.720 be friends
01:14:32.320 no because
01:14:32.700 of your
01:14:32.940 labels
01:14:33.240 you are
01:14:34.040 a
01:14:34.640 conservative
01:14:35.620 anti-gay
01:14:37.440 anti-minority
01:14:38.980 so you know
01:14:39.700 what's amazing
01:14:40.380 about that
01:14:40.820 is those
01:14:41.700 labels that
01:14:42.240 I gave
01:14:42.700 you were
01:14:43.540 actual things
01:14:44.620 a part
01:14:45.380 of you
01:14:45.840 almost everything
01:14:46.940 you said
01:14:47.240 about me
01:14:47.580 was not
01:14:47.980 true
01:14:48.180 but I'm
01:14:49.160 thinking about
01:14:49.500 before we
01:14:50.100 met
01:14:50.320 so I'm
01:14:51.340 thinking about
01:14:51.640 before we
01:14:52.040 met
01:14:52.180 what I
01:14:52.500 came in
01:14:53.040 thinking you
01:14:53.800 were
01:14:54.060 right
01:14:54.300 and we
01:14:54.680 became
01:14:55.100 good friends
01:14:55.980 and we
01:14:56.320 still disagree
01:14:56.960 on stuff
01:14:57.560 many things
01:14:58.040 but we're
01:14:59.500 good friends
01:15:00.260 when we
01:15:00.840 met
01:15:01.160 things that
01:15:02.160 you have
01:15:02.440 said
01:15:02.720 changed
01:15:03.160 the way
01:15:03.400 I see
01:15:03.880 the country
01:15:04.820 the world
01:15:05.860 and I
01:15:06.560 think there's
01:15:07.020 real importance
01:15:07.800 in having
01:15:08.420 friends
01:15:08.940 having
01:15:09.520 relationships
01:15:10.040 with people
01:15:10.560 who think
01:15:10.980 completely
01:15:11.600 differently
01:15:12.000 from you
01:15:12.360 because we
01:15:12.740 are in
01:15:13.060 this situation
01:15:13.640 now where
01:15:14.020 it's us
01:15:14.440 versus them
01:15:15.280 yes
01:15:15.580 and there
01:15:16.120 is no
01:15:16.420 them
01:15:16.760 there
01:15:17.060 shouldn't
01:15:17.500 be
01:15:17.660 because I
01:15:18.260 think it's
01:15:18.640 us versus
01:15:19.160 the problem
01:15:19.700 whatever the
01:15:20.480 problems are
01:15:21.080 it's all of
01:15:21.820 us on one
01:15:22.260 side
01:15:22.600 but the more
01:15:23.180 we demonize
01:15:23.780 each other
01:15:24.100 the more
01:15:24.460 it feels
01:15:24.840 like we're
01:15:25.240 against each
01:15:25.880 other
01:15:26.160 and there's
01:15:26.960 no nuance
01:15:27.740 there's no
01:15:28.420 nuance
01:15:28.900 it's either
01:15:29.540 I'm absolutely
01:15:30.480 right and you're
01:15:31.400 absolutely wrong
01:15:32.300 or you know
01:15:34.140 you're thinking
01:15:34.640 that about me
01:15:35.420 and this is kind
01:15:36.520 of why we wanted
01:15:37.040 to do this podcast
01:15:38.120 so the premise
01:15:38.740 is simple
01:15:39.180 can we look at
01:15:40.100 the things that
01:15:40.600 divide us
01:15:41.220 in a way
01:15:42.120 that from a
01:15:42.980 different angle
01:15:43.500 maybe a more
01:15:44.000 human perspective
01:15:44.740 a more personal
01:15:45.400 perspective that
01:15:45.940 allows us
01:15:46.460 to see the
01:15:47.060 connections
01:15:47.500 so I gave
01:15:48.480 you the
01:15:48.760 impossible
01:15:49.240 task
01:15:49.740 see if
01:15:50.940 you can
01:15:51.280 have
01:15:51.700 a
01:15:52.000 reasonable
01:15:52.500 conversation
01:15:53.140 with people
01:15:53.580 on all
01:15:54.140 sides
01:15:54.560 about
01:15:55.620 guns
01:15:56.180 guns
01:15:56.760 this
01:15:57.140 constant
01:15:57.880 gun
01:15:58.160 debate
01:15:58.460 and the
01:15:59.140 reason we
01:15:59.600 chose guns
01:16:00.160 because it
01:16:00.440 seems like a
01:16:00.840 funny topic
01:16:01.300 for the first
01:16:01.740 one is that
01:16:02.360 inspired by
01:16:03.120 all these
01:16:03.720 school shootings
01:16:04.440 that have been
01:16:04.860 happening
01:16:05.220 we all want
01:16:06.120 the same
01:16:06.460 thing
01:16:06.700 we don't
01:16:07.520 want the
01:16:08.000 children
01:16:08.420 to be
01:16:09.100 harmed
01:16:09.360 so knowing
01:16:10.160 we all
01:16:10.440 want the
01:16:10.680 same goal
01:16:11.180 how do
01:16:11.740 we work
01:16:12.140 together
01:16:12.540 to achieve
01:16:13.040 that goal
01:16:13.520 and so
01:16:14.340 this journey
01:16:15.120 of exploring
01:16:16.320 how do
01:16:17.120 real Americans
01:16:17.880 engage with
01:16:18.440 each other
01:16:18.800 this whole
01:16:19.800 thing started
01:16:20.660 with the
01:16:21.320 simplest
01:16:21.760 simplest
01:16:22.140 sounds
01:16:22.680 because you're
01:16:23.780 a father
01:16:24.120 and I'm
01:16:24.840 a father
01:16:25.160 and so this
01:16:25.960 whole thing
01:16:26.260 started with
01:16:26.700 these little
01:16:27.060 voices
01:16:27.560 that's Zara
01:16:38.300 who's two
01:16:39.240 pointing out
01:16:40.320 that it's
01:16:40.640 raining
01:16:40.940 and that I
01:16:41.820 need an
01:16:42.080 umbrella
01:16:42.380 Tenzing
01:16:43.340 her little
01:16:44.420 brother is
01:16:44.840 one
01:16:45.100 and agrees
01:16:46.280 generally
01:16:51.020 speaking
01:16:51.580 I am a
01:16:52.100 liberal
01:16:52.320 so this
01:16:53.480 is the
01:16:53.800 sound
01:16:54.080 that the
01:16:54.460 children
01:16:54.700 of a
01:16:55.020 liberal
01:16:55.240 make
01:16:55.600 as they
01:16:56.380 eat
01:16:56.600 pieces
01:16:56.980 of
01:16:57.200 French
01:16:57.460 toast
01:16:57.800 before
01:16:58.120 school
01:16:58.520 and this
01:17:03.040 is the
01:17:03.540 sound
01:17:03.800 that the
01:17:04.080 children
01:17:04.320 of
01:17:04.540 conservatives
01:17:05.080 make
01:17:05.540 as they
01:17:06.220 eat
01:17:06.480 their
01:17:06.760 breakfast
01:17:07.140 soon
01:17:11.120 our
01:17:11.420 kids
01:17:11.680 will intermingle
01:17:12.600 and mix
01:17:13.080 as we
01:17:13.600 take them
01:17:13.920 to school
01:17:14.380 and as
01:17:20.080 they all
01:17:20.420 say their
01:17:20.800 highs
01:17:21.220 I say
01:17:22.120 my goodbye
01:17:22.660 and sometimes
01:17:24.500 not every
01:17:25.580 time but
01:17:26.100 sometimes when
01:17:26.960 I leave
01:17:27.460 I think
01:17:28.420 that thought
01:17:30.160 please don't
01:17:31.780 let anything
01:17:32.720 bad
01:17:34.120 happen here
01:17:35.320 a thought
01:17:36.560 I'm sure
01:17:37.260 all parents
01:17:38.000 have from
01:17:38.460 time to
01:17:38.900 time
01:17:39.180 but when
01:17:42.920 a school
01:17:43.380 shooting
01:17:43.780 has
01:17:44.200 happened
01:17:44.640 instead
01:17:45.360 of coming
01:17:45.780 together
01:17:46.120 to make
01:17:46.400 sure it
01:17:46.700 never
01:17:47.000 happens
01:17:47.420 again
01:17:47.820 we divide
01:17:48.900 shame
01:17:49.960 and we
01:17:58.460 demonize
01:17:59.200 each other
01:17:59.600 even more
01:18:00.300 in the
01:18:00.680 endless
01:18:01.040 gun
01:18:01.320 debates
01:18:01.640 that
01:18:01.860 follow
01:18:02.160 it's the
01:18:02.560 guns
01:18:02.960 stupid
01:18:03.560 freeloading
01:18:04.300 them
01:18:04.800 democratic
01:18:05.300 liberals
01:18:05.640 are much
01:18:06.460 more
01:18:06.820 concerned
01:18:07.420 with
01:18:08.260 moral
01:18:09.020 issues
01:18:09.620 than
01:18:10.380 republicans
01:18:10.700 they chip
01:18:10.880 away at
01:18:11.200 our rights
01:18:11.680 a little bit
01:18:12.320 of time
01:18:12.640 and we
01:18:12.880 accept it
01:18:13.460 and we
01:18:13.660 accept it
01:18:14.200 and before
01:18:15.020 long
01:18:15.320 we won't
01:18:15.660 have it
01:18:15.920 our
01:18:16.140 approach
01:18:16.600 to debating
01:18:17.120 this is
01:18:17.820 you don't
01:18:18.280 support the
01:18:18.720 second
01:18:18.900 amendment
01:18:19.240 and you
01:18:19.860 support
01:18:20.320 mass
01:18:20.580 killings
01:18:20.980 and certainly
01:18:21.680 there's
01:18:22.040 something
01:18:22.340 in the
01:18:22.680 middle
01:18:22.940 but
01:18:23.900 we all
01:18:24.780 want
01:18:25.120 the same
01:18:25.720 exact
01:18:26.100 thing
01:18:26.540 to keep
01:18:27.700 all those
01:18:28.220 french toast
01:18:28.920 eating
01:18:29.260 kids safe
01:18:30.160 so this
01:18:32.340 was my
01:18:32.660 question
01:18:33.080 in an
01:18:33.800 increasingly
01:18:34.460 divided
01:18:35.180 america
01:18:35.800 how do
01:18:36.440 we work
01:18:36.900 together
01:18:37.420 to achieve
01:18:38.160 the same
01:18:38.620 thing
01:18:39.060 keeping
01:18:39.920 our
01:18:40.180 children
01:18:40.520 safe
01:18:40.920 at
01:18:41.080 school
01:18:41.440 so a
01:18:42.900 few
01:18:43.040 weeks
01:18:43.300 ago
01:18:43.540 i asked
01:18:44.140 seven
01:18:44.580 very
01:18:45.100 different
01:18:45.600 americans
01:18:46.200 to sit
01:18:46.900 down
01:18:47.160 with me
01:18:47.600 and help
01:18:48.220 me find
01:18:48.760 an answer
01:18:49.340 and we
01:18:50.820 did
01:18:51.180 we found
01:18:52.760 an answer
01:18:53.360 but it
01:18:54.600 wasn't
01:18:55.180 at all
01:18:55.640 what i
01:18:55.960 thought it
01:18:56.220 would be
01:18:56.560 the answer
01:18:58.400 as it turns
01:18:58.980 out to my
01:18:59.340 complete
01:18:59.640 surprise
01:19:00.120 is a
01:19:01.060 single
01:19:01.520 digit
01:19:01.960 number
01:19:02.540 a number
01:19:04.280 that was
01:19:04.680 hastily
01:19:05.180 written on
01:19:05.660 a pink
01:19:05.980 post-it
01:19:06.400 note
01:19:06.620 and passed
01:19:07.600 over to
01:19:08.000 me with
01:19:08.340 a handful
01:19:08.740 of others
01:19:09.180 as part
01:19:10.200 of a
01:19:10.360 kind of
01:19:10.760 warm-up
01:19:11.440 exercise
01:19:11.920 as the
01:19:12.420 seven
01:19:12.660 were just
01:19:13.380 sitting down
01:19:13.940 to begin
01:19:14.320 our
01:19:14.500 conversation
01:19:15.100 as you
01:19:16.500 hear me
01:19:16.980 read all
01:19:17.400 the numbers
01:19:17.820 back to
01:19:18.320 the group
01:19:18.700 several
01:19:19.000 weeks
01:19:19.260 ago
01:19:19.540 keep in
01:19:24.780 mind
01:19:25.120 one of
01:19:25.980 them
01:19:26.220 is our
01:19:27.320 answer
01:19:27.660 forward
01:19:28.200 let me
01:19:30.440 start by
01:19:30.940 telling you
01:19:31.420 about the
01:19:31.960 seven
01:19:32.280 i am a
01:19:33.520 high school
01:19:33.880 teacher
01:19:34.320 mother of
01:19:35.360 three boys
01:19:35.980 three teen
01:19:36.500 boys
01:19:36.800 i am a
01:19:37.480 firearms
01:19:37.980 instructor
01:19:38.580 i was a
01:19:39.600 police officer
01:19:40.240 in arlington
01:19:40.860 police in
01:19:41.660 virginia for
01:19:42.260 37 years
01:19:43.160 i wanted their
01:19:43.940 politics to be
01:19:44.680 very very
01:19:45.280 different
01:19:45.800 i would be
01:19:46.720 probably
01:19:47.300 considered a
01:19:48.460 constitutional
01:19:49.340 conservative
01:19:50.020 i find the
01:19:51.500 older that i
01:19:52.380 get the more
01:19:53.160 progressive and
01:19:53.900 liberal that i
01:19:54.540 become i am
01:19:55.720 very much on
01:19:57.300 on both sides
01:19:58.420 i always vote for
01:19:59.300 the person that
01:19:59.980 scares me the
01:20:00.600 least i even
01:20:01.860 wanted their
01:20:02.420 experiences and
01:20:03.380 feelings about
01:20:04.080 guns to be
01:20:04.700 different my
01:20:05.440 stepdad was
01:20:05.940 from the south
01:20:06.400 he had a
01:20:06.740 shotgun in the
01:20:07.340 closet kids
01:20:08.080 or not he
01:20:08.620 had a shotgun
01:20:09.080 in the closet
01:20:09.520 i'm a retired
01:20:10.660 navy combat
01:20:11.840 pilot we have
01:20:12.820 guns in our
01:20:13.400 home they are
01:20:14.180 locked up i've
01:20:15.040 never seen them
01:20:15.860 i don't want to
01:20:16.740 see them
01:20:17.140 people ask me
01:20:17.620 how i started
01:20:18.160 shooting i just
01:20:18.820 say with my
01:20:19.240 dad and his
01:20:19.740 redneck buddies
01:20:20.340 out in the
01:20:20.720 country
01:20:21.040 these seven
01:20:23.000 were thoughtful
01:20:23.900 well-informed
01:20:25.180 good-hearted
01:20:26.160 people who all
01:20:27.160 agreed to
01:20:27.940 spend an entire
01:20:28.660 evening talking
01:20:29.580 to people they
01:20:30.280 didn't even know
01:20:31.060 why to come up
01:20:32.680 with a list i
01:20:34.500 wanted us to
01:20:35.280 find a list even
01:20:36.860 if it was a very
01:20:37.500 short one of
01:20:38.580 specific practical
01:20:40.080 things that we
01:20:40.840 could all agree
01:20:41.720 upon to help
01:20:42.900 combat this
01:20:43.580 intangible threat
01:20:44.840 to our kids that
01:20:45.520 we all think
01:20:46.300 about from time
01:20:46.960 to time an
01:20:48.540 intangible threat
01:20:49.360 that alicia
01:20:49.960 our teacher in
01:20:50.980 the room
01:20:51.300 explained from
01:20:52.420 the perspective
01:20:52.920 of being inside
01:20:54.380 the schools each
01:20:55.360 and every day
01:20:56.060 anytime there is
01:20:58.860 any sort of
01:20:59.940 anything out of
01:21:00.620 the norm at
01:21:01.180 school the kids
01:21:02.040 get weird
01:21:02.960 they get upset
01:21:04.080 it's just a
01:21:05.280 feeling among the
01:21:06.280 entire school
01:21:07.400 that something is
01:21:09.000 dreadfully wrong
01:21:10.140 and i think it's
01:21:11.920 all over the
01:21:12.940 country i think
01:21:13.860 that you hear a
01:21:14.920 noise in the
01:21:15.460 hallway when your
01:21:16.460 class is quiet and
01:21:17.680 everyone's head
01:21:18.540 turns with that
01:21:21.240 awareness we
01:21:23.240 began talking the
01:21:25.180 story of that
01:21:25.900 conversation has
01:21:26.860 two parts the
01:21:28.300 content the stuff
01:21:29.360 that was said and
01:21:30.840 then the impact
01:21:31.700 what happened
01:21:33.240 because of what
01:21:33.980 was said so
01:21:35.620 content as we
01:21:37.420 searched for the
01:21:38.080 list for almost
01:21:38.900 four hours i'd like
01:21:40.620 to share with you
01:21:41.260 the three biggest
01:21:42.360 impediments we came
01:21:43.620 up against because
01:21:45.100 in this new era of
01:21:46.540 communicating and
01:21:47.720 communication i think
01:21:49.480 they're worth
01:21:49.840 considering remember
01:21:51.680 same children same
01:21:54.340 goal impediment
01:21:56.960 number one opinions
01:21:58.680 outnumber people i
01:22:01.520 soon realized that in
01:22:02.760 this age of unlimited
01:22:04.100 access to opinions
01:22:05.360 that although there
01:22:06.400 were seven people
01:22:07.460 physically sitting
01:22:08.360 around me there
01:22:09.500 were many more
01:22:10.580 opinions and voices
01:22:11.680 brought into our
01:22:12.620 conversation listen to
01:22:14.260 the following exchange
01:22:15.240 between two mothers
01:22:16.260 anna a progressive
01:22:17.620 and mona a christian
01:22:19.640 conservative and see
01:22:21.140 how many people's
01:22:22.880 opinions and
01:22:23.680 perspectives are
01:22:24.480 brought into the
01:22:25.120 mix other than
01:22:26.480 their own from my
01:22:27.740 side what i hear is
01:22:29.420 oh it you don't
01:22:31.380 infringe on any of
01:22:32.240 my rights and i don't
01:22:33.740 want any restrictions
01:22:34.640 on myself and it's
01:22:36.580 kind of and i'm not
01:22:37.500 saying this is what
01:22:38.080 you want but this is
01:22:38.740 kind of the debate
01:22:39.500 that's been in place
01:22:40.620 and it's kind of
01:22:41.940 like come on there
01:22:43.380 are reasonable ideas
01:22:45.160 we can come up with
01:22:46.280 that's not going to
01:22:47.620 inconvenience you but
01:22:48.960 and you're right there
01:22:50.620 are probably solutions
01:22:51.960 there and you're
01:22:53.300 reasonable but the
01:22:55.040 the leaders of your
01:22:56.180 movement are not
01:22:57.160 reasonable that's
01:22:58.040 that's actually why is
01:22:59.060 it that when there's a
01:23:00.180 school shooting or a
01:23:01.360 mass shooting someplace
01:23:02.380 the first thing we hear
01:23:04.960 is we need gun control
01:23:07.480 and the nra is the
01:23:08.860 bad guy so many other
01:23:14.140 opinions and voices
01:23:15.540 most of them extreme
01:23:16.700 jumped right into our
01:23:18.280 conversation on minute
01:23:19.420 39 everything was
01:23:21.700 heightened from the
01:23:22.640 get-go denise our
01:23:24.600 firearms instructor who
01:23:25.860 almost missed the
01:23:26.560 roundtable because she
01:23:27.320 had food poisoning
01:23:28.000 speaks about the
01:23:29.300 problem with letting
01:23:30.460 other people speak for
01:23:31.920 us the inflammatory
01:23:33.780 super you know
01:23:35.680 agitators that are
01:23:37.020 being the talking
01:23:37.840 heads on the media
01:23:38.760 speaking for you
01:23:39.740 speaking for me they
01:23:40.760 don't represent that
01:23:41.540 that kind of craziness
01:23:42.820 does not represent me
01:23:44.460 and I would like to
01:23:45.320 think that you know
01:23:46.200 when I see these
01:23:47.260 ultra-liberal you know
01:23:48.720 screaming about all
01:23:49.560 this stuff and calling
01:23:50.840 people like me gun
01:23:52.420 nuts and all that I
01:23:53.420 would like to think
01:23:54.060 that that's not
01:23:54.640 representative of you
01:23:55.640 so how do we solve
01:23:56.840 that problem with
01:23:57.860 getting these people to
01:23:59.520 stop being the ones
01:24:00.520 that are out there
01:24:01.200 trying to send a
01:24:02.060 message because it's
01:24:03.320 for me I think it's
01:24:04.400 the wrong one and
01:24:05.760 it's not productive
01:24:06.760 I became aware very
01:24:08.960 quickly that it's
01:24:09.840 almost impossible to
01:24:11.600 have a productive
01:24:12.300 conversation with so
01:24:13.820 many other voices
01:24:15.120 referenced and
01:24:16.100 repeated how could I
01:24:17.900 get each person just
01:24:19.220 to speak for
01:24:20.000 themselves we'd get
01:24:22.540 there but it would
01:24:23.820 take a while
01:24:24.420 so let me tell you
01:24:28.060 about our sponsor
01:24:28.620 this half hour it's
01:24:30.200 American financing
01:24:31.660 Stu has used
01:24:32.740 American financing
01:24:33.720 and because he's
01:24:36.860 borderline insane
01:24:38.300 he went who did
01:24:41.520 you get it from you
01:24:42.100 get it you get your
01:24:42.720 loan finally from
01:24:43.320 veto is that who you
01:24:44.520 got it from
01:24:44.900 veto's cousin
01:24:46.720 veto's cousin
01:24:47.680 not to be named
01:24:48.500 yeah cuz still got a
01:24:50.180 loan like okay I
01:24:51.180 tell you what you
01:24:52.040 give me nothing down
01:24:53.080 but if you don't pay I
01:24:55.160 take your children
01:24:56.160 there's some children
01:24:57.000 and I do lose my
01:24:57.980 kneecaps right if I
01:24:59.120 don't pay but
01:24:59.640 American financing I
01:25:00.840 mean this is the kind
01:25:01.440 of people they are
01:25:01.980 they looked at what
01:25:02.880 what he was
01:25:04.040 suggesting and they
01:25:05.080 were like no no
01:25:06.500 bank will do that
01:25:07.300 no that won't and
01:25:08.780 when he founded
01:25:09.540 another bank he he
01:25:10.840 called them up they
01:25:11.760 gave him advice and
01:25:13.180 said hey you know I
01:25:14.060 warn you about this
01:25:14.820 and this and this but
01:25:15.960 in the end they said
01:25:16.780 if you can get that
01:25:17.580 deal and you're
01:25:18.320 comfortable with it
01:25:19.160 go ahead go ahead
01:25:20.420 take theirs right so
01:25:22.000 they're not trying to
01:25:22.980 jam you into something
01:25:24.100 they don't need to
01:25:25.060 sell you a loan and
01:25:26.320 that's what's
01:25:26.680 happening the banks
01:25:27.240 don't give you a loan
01:25:27.980 they're selling it to
01:25:28.740 you these people do
01:25:30.000 not work on
01:25:30.740 commission they do
01:25:31.700 what's right for you

01:25:49.740 for me one of the most
01:25:52.380 eye-opening things and I
01:25:54.180 think it was the same
01:25:54.880 for you and you had
01:25:56.840 asked me something
01:25:57.700 about why had I said
01:26:01.240 the things that I had
01:26:02.400 said about President
01:26:03.400 Obama and it wasn't
01:26:04.780 the inflammatory stuff
01:26:05.960 it was why did you
01:26:08.160 think he was so bad or
01:26:09.560 why did you think that
01:26:10.500 administration is so bad
01:26:11.460 and I gave you several
01:26:14.060 stories and I remember
01:26:15.720 going with the chalkboard
01:26:16.540 and I said there was
01:26:17.100 this story did you know
01:26:18.020 about it this story
01:26:18.960 this story this story
01:26:20.000 any of them you'd
01:26:20.780 never heard of any of
01:26:22.060 them any of them and
01:26:22.700 that that was the
01:26:23.720 beginning of my
01:26:24.580 awareness of how loud
01:26:26.260 and separate these
01:26:27.320 echo chambers are and
01:26:28.320 that was the moment I
01:26:29.140 was like oh no people
01:26:30.040 we think they know
01:26:31.280 things right we think
01:26:32.100 they hear things they
01:26:32.920 don't they don't and
01:26:33.920 you know what because
01:26:34.700 of that moment I
01:26:36.040 redoubled my efforts to
01:26:38.120 read there are many
01:26:39.460 times that I'll hear
01:26:40.480 people say well you
01:26:41.860 won't find that in the
01:26:42.600 times actually yes
01:26:43.760 that's exactly where I
01:26:45.500 found it yeah you know
01:26:46.720 what I mean and so when
01:26:48.520 we talk about the
01:26:49.220 problems we we have
01:26:50.900 those in common that
01:26:52.180 whether it's keeping
01:26:53.200 our children safe
01:26:53.960 whether it's drugs
01:26:54.720 whether it's the
01:26:55.540 weaponization of
01:26:56.440 information those are
01:26:57.480 big problems that we
01:26:58.720 need to discuss but the
01:27:00.320 in-person quality of it
01:27:01.900 has to happen because
01:27:03.680 even though it's
01:27:04.880 posting these awkward
01:27:06.160 awkward things even
01:27:07.040 though it got hot
01:27:07.820 it's difficult to come
01:27:11.220 up with a solution
01:27:12.080 where one side doesn't
01:27:14.460 want to talk about guns
01:27:15.500 at all and I'm sure you
01:27:16.580 guys think that's all we
01:27:17.800 want to talk about is I
01:27:19.500 want to come take away
01:27:20.320 your guns and that's not
01:27:21.380 the case impediment
01:27:22.660 number two we can't hear
01:27:25.040 all the options potential
01:27:28.100 solutions may already be on
01:27:30.000 the table but we aren't
01:27:31.480 even hearing each other
01:27:32.860 this exchange between Anna
01:27:34.680 our progressive mother and
01:27:36.340 Chad a libertarian father
01:27:38.140 shows this phenomenon all
01:27:40.680 we're trying to see is what
01:27:42.840 reasonable measures are you
01:27:44.800 are you all willing to agree
01:27:47.420 to to help solve this
01:27:50.240 problem and to really solve
01:27:52.320 this and and what steps are
01:27:54.380 you willing to take but I'm
01:27:55.800 willing to sign on to the
01:27:57.440 NRA's project exile which has
01:27:59.260 worked very well in Virginia
01:28:00.660 so what was Anna's response to
01:28:03.500 project exile what what is
01:28:05.160 that sir I don't know
01:28:06.200 project exile committing you
01:28:08.080 committed gun crime mandatory
01:28:10.000 sentencing you go to the top of
01:28:12.260 the rocket docket for
01:28:13.840 prosecution a practical
01:28:16.180 tangible solution already on
01:28:18.420 the table never heard of it
01:28:20.380 but wait this wasn't a one-way
01:28:22.540 phenomenon soon after Mona our
01:28:24.980 mother of three teenage boys
01:28:26.240 was explaining how her sons and
01:28:28.160 their peers can sense when a
01:28:30.060 classmate may pose a threat and
01:28:31.700 they're called school shooters oh
01:28:33.280 yeah he's a school shooter she's a
01:28:34.680 school shooter they they've got
01:28:36.300 that label because everybody
01:28:37.940 knows who is capable of doing
01:28:40.260 that I think that's what you
01:28:42.420 know what I mentioned earlier
01:28:43.720 the red flag laws I think that's
01:28:45.640 the purpose of those where you
01:28:47.140 see a kid who is you know like
01:28:50.000 this kid is trouble and that
01:28:52.440 enables you to go in and remove
01:28:54.560 the guns and the response from
01:28:56.120 Alicia our teacher in the room who
01:28:58.020 had literally just been talking
01:28:59.620 about kids exhibiting red flags had
01:29:02.020 this to say about the idea I had
01:29:03.880 never heard the term red flag law
01:29:05.580 how is that even possible on my
01:29:08.140 side I hear the term red flag laws
01:29:09.880 almost daily in campaign ads but
01:29:12.300 Alicia lives in a different state
01:29:13.600 and gets different ads again it's
01:29:17.500 not about whether you think either
01:29:19.000 of the ideas are good ones or bad
01:29:20.580 ones it's about the fact the other
01:29:22.060 side has never even heard of them
01:29:24.120 when we're talking about trying to
01:29:26.860 protect our kids shouldn't every
01:29:28.800 idea be considered
01:29:29.780 impediment number three either or
01:29:34.060 thinking this is another exchange
01:29:36.300 that fascinated me between Anna our
01:29:38.420 progressive mother and Mona who
01:29:40.340 identifies as a Christian
01:29:41.320 conservative about what each of us
01:29:43.340 can do now to help keep our
01:29:45.460 children safer I know from my side
01:29:48.060 is you know reaching out to my
01:29:50.020 legislators and saying this is what
01:29:51.560 I want and if the legislators refuse
01:29:53.400 to take action it's helping to elect
01:29:55.620 people who will who are more in line
01:29:57.480 with those thoughts and perhaps on
01:29:59.660 your side you can do the same but we
01:30:02.400 all have a part to play in this and
01:30:04.580 first is making our voices heard it
01:30:07.600 might be futile but that's one step
01:30:09.580 we can all take but if we started
01:30:11.720 even one step I can't find the right
01:30:16.080 word once take one step back and
01:30:18.040 start at a community level instead of
01:30:19.860 relying on our legislators to fix this
01:30:21.800 problem so you go into the schools and
01:30:23.800 you say to your principal I'm a retired
01:30:25.960 marine and my two kids go to this
01:30:28.440 school and I really want to help keep
01:30:30.380 this building secure this is all I can
01:30:32.500 do I can only work within the
01:30:33.900 confines of my life and my time but
01:30:36.140 I'm a parent here I have expertise I
01:30:38.380 want to do something how can we gather
01:30:40.680 the parents in this school to help
01:30:42.500 fortify the building I think they're
01:30:43.900 probably there's so many restrictions
01:30:46.560 and issues against I mean I don't know
01:30:48.400 I'm not involved in the school system
01:30:50.020 but two approaches both felt valid and
01:30:53.060 worthwhile to me but in that moment it
01:30:55.380 felt very either or and a little
01:30:58.240 dismissive and this happened a lot
01:31:00.880 jumping back and forth between
01:31:02.780 opposing ideas as opposed to spending
01:31:05.160 time discussing integrating them or
01:31:07.620 combining the approaches and I just
01:31:09.960 hope that the divide over the first
01:31:11.980 approach the constant fight over
01:31:14.020 election day doesn't demonize us so
01:31:16.620 much that we aren't able to work
01:31:18.540 together on the second community level
01:31:20.660 approach we need both not either or
01:31:23.500 so those three impediments opinions
01:31:26.900 outnumbering people not hearing all
01:31:28.960 the options and either or thinking
01:31:31.180 were our biggest obstacles as we
01:31:33.660 searched together for my list and as we
01:31:37.180 talked well you have to get they have
01:31:39.560 to be their mental health as well and
01:31:42.640 talked yeah I think I think that has to
01:31:44.960 be part of danger we just kept running
01:31:49.060 up against them but then also you can't
01:31:51.900 and never got around them if there are
01:31:57.780 weapons that he could then use to act
01:31:59.580 out let's take out all the knives out of
01:32:01.620 the kitchen too and then move the cars
01:32:03.780 if I can finish too in the room hour
01:32:06.780 after hour it was tense defensive and hot
01:32:09.180 the air conditioning wasn't working and my
01:32:11.340 premise wasn't working I feel and I
01:32:13.260 feel like that's what happens a lot both
01:32:15.240 sides every every time somebody gives an
01:32:17.940 example somebody else tells you why that
01:32:20.180 example is not going to work for them
01:32:21.860 specifically and then it turns into a
01:32:23.940 different conversation my stupid list was
01:32:26.660 only making us more frustrated the more
01:32:28.760 we couldn't find it because although there
01:32:30.900 were so many moments of connection it was
01:32:33.260 the moments of disconnect that controlled
01:32:35.360 the mood of the room we already have the
01:32:38.600 laws on the books we do not we do not there
01:32:42.620 are but you see there's 25,000 of them and
01:32:45.200 you're willing to let all of those go just
01:32:47.720 for your point and then it happened the
01:32:51.140 moment I had been fearing we reached it
01:32:54.080 now are you willing to put some
01:32:57.220 the impasse soon after Anna summed up how a
01:33:10.660 lot of us were feeling coming in here I I
01:33:13.700 thought our chances of getting a list
01:33:16.540 together was was I was more optimistic you
01:33:19.700 know I see why we are where we are today it's
01:33:22.700 it's this this sort of you know impasse the
01:33:26.700 conversation ended shortly after we all
01:33:29.000 said goodbye and I sat in the room alone
01:33:31.160 and texted my husband two words it failed I
01:33:36.200 could not get the enemy lines to go away in
01:33:39.180 that room even for a little while but I was
01:33:43.540 wrong there's content and then there's impact
01:33:48.300 how surprised were you that this fell apart
01:34:00.960 because to me that's where they all end
01:34:04.600 right there yes I was not just shocked but
01:34:08.500 personally gutted because I had found all
01:34:11.180 these people and with the best of
01:34:13.420 intentions I had said look out there in the
01:34:15.180 world no one's talking let's try and
01:34:16.720 create this environment with the seven of
01:34:18.240 us that we can go past that we will we'll
01:34:21.640 know each other you're all good people and
01:34:23.540 I could not believe that with all that prep
01:34:26.400 of them coming in that the the guards went
01:34:29.280 up and because you're not created it's not
01:34:31.880 the seven people it's all of the voices that
01:34:36.360 are in each of their heads that they're all
01:34:38.740 battling I understand why he said what he
01:34:41.420 said and cut her off and it has nothing to
01:34:43.900 do with the people in that room exactly the
01:34:46.540 people in that room could compromise could
01:34:49.880 potentially hypothetically yes yes and so if
01:34:53.320 they if that was their community and it was
01:34:55.520 only about them they could come up with it
01:34:58.240 the next day I could I honestly couldn't get
01:35:02.200 out of bed and when I looked at my phone
01:35:04.380 there were this flurry of texts and emails
01:35:06.140 from other people in the room saying how did we
01:35:09.060 miss we all tried we missed so what'd you find
01:35:11.900 out well what was interesting was that one
01:35:14.260 of the texts was an invitation from Denise
01:35:16.680 our firearms instructor to to Anna our
01:35:19.960 progressive activist mother saying you want
01:35:22.560 to continue the conversation why don't you
01:35:23.800 come down to the shooting range and we can
01:35:25.720 and so I conveyed this and Anna accepted in a
01:35:29.140 second I was shocked and so the next day
01:35:31.920 this progressive activist went to the
01:35:34.020 shooting range at the base of the NRA's
01:35:36.380 building to continue the conversation with
01:35:38.320 this firearms trainer and that's where we go
01:35:40.180 now and as I somewhat nervously watch them
01:35:54.560 engage each other one-on-one the memory
01:35:56.860 of their interaction from not even 48 hours
01:35:59.060 prior was still pretty fresh
01:36:00.700 they began this new conversation with
01:36:14.180 basics so how do you take the safety off
01:36:17.060 because they say keep the safety on and
01:36:18.900 then it depends on the specific type of
01:36:23.040 firearms so this one and then they started
01:36:26.320 talking more specifics this is Denise
01:36:28.900 explaining some of the existing gun laws
01:36:31.120 that don't make sense so if someone were
01:36:34.080 to hold this like this and put it up
01:36:35.820 against their shoulder well you're now
01:36:37.600 shooting it like a rifle so now you're in
01:36:39.740 violation of the law and you're technically
01:36:41.600 a felon why would there be an issue if
01:36:43.880 you're holding it as a rifle why why would
01:36:46.360 it be considered illegal because now the the
01:36:48.900 one of the pieces is not registered as a
01:36:51.760 rifle you didn't purchase it as such so if
01:36:54.320 you purchased it as a pistol and now you're
01:36:56.860 shooting it as a rifle they're saying that
01:36:58.960 now you're in violation of the law again
01:37:01.080 complete makes absolutely no sense and
01:37:05.320 then this happened as they were talking
01:37:07.180 about bullets extremely much larger bullet
01:37:10.900 tons more powder this is a 308 so that's a
01:37:14.780 typical hunting round so you can just see
01:37:17.560 the the difference in the power and
01:37:19.260 penetration between the bullets and the
01:37:21.040 amount of powder that goes in them so
01:37:22.840 size does matter i love that
01:37:26.580 and as they giggled over a size joke
01:37:32.120 that was it the enemy lines weren't there
01:37:36.440 anymore between them it was no longer us
01:37:39.940 versus them anna versus denise they were
01:37:42.860 on the same side just two people trying to
01:37:45.560 figure something out they had connected
01:37:48.180 all right let's go shoot some guns this is
01:37:52.040 anna coached by denise through her first
01:37:54.820 shot a little higher there nice take
01:37:57.460 your sights shoulders forward focus on that
01:38:02.680 front side slow steady
01:38:05.520 good finger off
01:38:10.780 good job and for the record her shot was just
01:38:16.440 off the bullseye and afterwards they started
01:38:19.280 talking specifics again but there was a
01:38:21.720 willingness to work together and limit the
01:38:23.960 number of opinions to their own so it's
01:38:26.520 like okay rather than you and i like meeting
01:38:28.140 in the parking lot and purchasing the gun or
01:38:30.500 wherever let's go to the license dealer run a
01:38:33.180 background check on me so make sure you know
01:38:35.140 that i'm not a felon i don't have a history of
01:38:37.180 domestic violence etc and then just hand the
01:38:39.800 gun off in that sense so it's not a big
01:38:42.480 argument with that is going to be that we're
01:38:44.820 we're guilty until proven innocent you know
01:38:48.560 what i mean i'm not 100 against it because i
01:38:51.720 that's pretty much how i do things now i'm
01:38:54.560 just saying i i'm i'm like 80 percent there
01:39:00.320 if that makes sense
01:39:01.300 to repeat denise says i'm 80 percent there
01:39:07.500 anna excitedly responds by saying i'll bring
01:39:09.980 you over but it's what denise says next that
01:39:13.480 got me where you come 80 i come 80 we figure
01:39:16.200 out somewhere
01:39:16.720 i love that you come 80 i come 80 and we
01:39:23.680 figure out somewhere in the middle one-on-one
01:39:26.420 there was a personal connection now anna who
01:39:29.980 just the other night felt so hopeless you
01:39:32.600 know i see why we are where we are today
01:39:34.880 it's it's this this sort of you know
01:39:37.580 impasse now not even 48 hours later had
01:39:42.120 this to say we're really on most of it like
01:39:45.500 80 of it for all on the same side like of
01:39:48.580 the issue it's just you may be speaking
01:39:50.320 with different language there's nuance and
01:39:53.400 how do we understand someone's different
01:39:55.580 language and nuance by spending time with
01:39:58.500 them in person this is how anna felt when i
01:40:02.640 spoke with her a few weeks later to come
01:40:04.540 back and to sort of have formed some sort
01:40:07.140 of a bond with the you know someone who
01:40:09.580 works with the nra is their top trainer and
01:40:11.680 stuff i mean that was that was a refreshing
01:40:13.740 surprise and that sort of thank god for that
01:40:17.340 because that sort of gave me a glimmer of hope
01:40:20.500 that okay we we can come to some sort of an
01:40:23.560 agreement the problem isn't always the other
01:40:26.360 person the problem isn't always the other
01:40:28.940 side denise explained how this shifted
01:40:31.360 for you two to come out to the range with me
01:40:33.500 just putting your toes in the world of
01:40:37.780 another person and understanding it and
01:40:40.080 actually getting to see it we're not the
01:40:41.840 problem weeks later denise and i spoke
01:40:45.020 about her perspective on america after our
01:40:47.500 time together it's just a very combative
01:40:49.460 uh you know very argumentative environment
01:40:53.100 and it doesn't have to be it doesn't have
01:40:55.260 to be you know you can agree to disagree
01:40:57.300 on things but you know like what you're
01:40:59.640 trying to do find some things that you do
01:41:01.340 agree on and i don't think that it is that
01:41:03.300 hard it isn't that hard so the question
01:41:07.580 remained how did we get to this point of
01:41:11.200 connection and optimism what had happened in
01:41:14.360 the room during the conversation with the
01:41:16.040 seven that it prompted denise to want to
01:41:19.400 reach out to anna and invite her to the
01:41:21.420 gun range in the first place
01:41:22.720 it's like just people being open
01:41:25.080 i think it's the first step too that's
01:41:26.900 what's important that's why i appreciated
01:41:28.920 talking the other night yeah well thank
01:41:31.020 you because i know there were others who
01:41:33.480 were not so open i know to see the side
01:41:36.280 and it was just i know one night it's
01:41:38.540 frustrating on both sides was it yeah
01:41:40.200 did you feel that well i mean that's why
01:41:43.660 i started defending her i was getting
01:41:44.960 pissed so defending her that's right
01:41:49.880 the moment of impasse now are you willing
01:41:53.480 to put somewhere no that's that that's
01:41:59.160 that's the impasse because you're not even
01:42:02.020 willing to listen no remember when i said
01:42:05.720 there was more in that moment than i had
01:42:07.520 realized there's denise defending anna by
01:42:10.620 saying you can't do that to her so what
01:42:15.120 happened in that moment i asked denise
01:42:16.980 later i just felt very angry that someone
01:42:20.040 that was supposed to be sharing my point
01:42:23.160 of view and my perspective was being
01:42:25.100 blatantly disrespectful um completely
01:42:28.020 shut off to a human being sitting next
01:42:30.240 to me honestly just like i needed to
01:42:32.920 defend her um whether she was on my side
01:42:36.600 their side it didn't matter in that
01:42:40.340 moment the moment of impasse the enemy
01:42:42.880 lines had actually shifted someone on
01:42:45.580 the complete opposite end of the issue
01:42:47.340 became an ally to denise when there was a
01:42:49.980 greater obstacle to overcome what greater
01:42:53.840 obstacle so i went back to the audio of
01:42:56.140 the round table and listen to it eight
01:42:58.140 four shotgun in the closet six don't
01:43:00.840 infringe i think in any of my rights
01:43:02.380 three not reasonable difficult ten or
01:43:04.400 one and there it was one again and
01:43:07.260 again the obstacle to consensus so many
01:43:09.780 of the times was the same person rick
01:43:12.200 now are you willing to put somewhere
01:43:14.980 it wasn't his ideas the majority of the
01:43:19.180 room shared his ideas on well pretty much
01:43:20.760 everything it was his approach to the
01:43:22.900 conversation he became the greater
01:43:25.640 obstacle many times we would all agree
01:43:28.640 to an idea but in going around the room
01:43:30.440 for consensus we'd hit the block is
01:43:32.040 that fair for everyone around but the
01:43:34.840 problem is
01:43:35.680 here i am in hour two anticipating his
01:43:42.060 block to a new idea a role i think he
01:43:44.460 knew he was playing thoughts about that
01:43:46.640 what are you looking for
01:43:48.800 in hour three here i am again and i'm
01:43:52.620 asking you specifically because you're
01:43:53.900 the you're my you're my nemesis right
01:43:55.780 now and then this happened now are you
01:43:58.420 willing to put somewhere no it wasn't
01:44:02.820 the content of what he was saying it was
01:44:05.720 the way he was saying it the intention
01:44:08.360 behind it and that was because of his
01:44:11.160 number the number he had walking in
01:44:14.620 eight four six three ten ten or one one
01:44:21.700 remember those numbers as the sound guy
01:44:24.700 was setting up as people were sitting
01:44:26.600 down and sipping their water nervously i
01:44:28.660 wondered how could i measure the degree
01:44:31.020 of hope that they were bringing to this
01:44:32.920 round table how could i gauge their
01:44:35.560 commitment to finding my list so just as
01:44:38.680 audio started recording you hear me ask
01:44:40.900 them how do you think it is likely one to
01:44:43.020 ten of finding some sort of consensus some
01:44:45.560 sort of just us just us just us what do you
01:44:49.160 honestly believe and then then hand it to
01:44:51.440 me numbers were privately passed to me at
01:44:54.300 the beginning of the conversation and
01:44:56.020 never referred to again until it was
01:44:57.940 time to leave three hours and 46 minutes
01:44:59.940 later here is the actual moment the
01:45:03.060 conversation ended and the numbers are
01:45:05.520 revealed you'll hear rick at the end
01:45:08.320 it's tough it's a tough one can't wait to
01:45:11.420 see where our numbers come out what
01:45:13.320 it was eight four six three ten ten or
01:45:25.180 one one one that's not a one but then
01:45:27.840 there's a zero right next week nine zero
01:45:29.760 to one that was your range point zero to
01:45:32.040 one interesting rick was a one we never
01:45:37.980 had a chance in fact the next day he sent
01:45:43.280 me an email saying quote riaz i think
01:45:45.640 this was a good cause but the impasse is
01:45:47.340 far too wide a chasm to be crossed and
01:45:49.820 quote a one will always diminish the hope
01:45:54.620 in any given room just the way that
01:45:56.920 negativity lately overwhelms whatever true
01:45:59.680 hope there is out there we have all been a
01:46:02.260 rick for whatever reason or whatever mood
01:46:04.800 we've all been that person but a one is a
01:46:09.240 very powerful thing especially in a very
01:46:12.000 divided america so to me the answer for
01:46:16.660 how do we move forward and work together
01:46:19.400 to keep our children safer is to be any
01:46:23.740 number greater than one this is denise at
01:46:28.460 the end of our roundtable denise who went
01:46:31.140 on to open up her world to show a fellow
01:46:33.620 american that she isn't a them denise's
01:46:36.560 number is eight i'm loving sitting here
01:46:39.680 and like my heart is going out to each
01:46:42.300 one of you for your you know your your
01:46:45.000 viewpoints and i understand it um it may
01:46:48.060 not be one that that i you know fully get
01:46:50.440 on board but i believe you and i know
01:46:52.460 where you're coming from and i appreciate
01:46:54.280 that what's interesting is denise has been
01:46:58.420 invited by anna to attend her progressive
01:47:00.400 groups and anna is taking progressive moms
01:47:03.060 to the shooting range at the nra to learn
01:47:05.460 more love it so the bridge is there the
01:47:07.700 bridge starts with just sitting in the
01:47:09.580 same room so riaz when i think about
01:47:12.180 coming to a solution in washington i'm a
01:47:16.080 zero
01:47:16.340 when i think about the american people
01:47:20.780 i'm an eight nine it's funny because the
01:47:26.720 only thing i said we never got my list i
01:47:29.120 didn't say there was nothing we didn't
01:47:30.360 agree on the only thing we all agreed on
01:47:32.520 was that we had no faith in the government
01:47:34.440 system that exists that was the only thing
01:47:37.340 the seven of us all agreed on so i think
01:47:41.100 that is part of the problem and i think the
01:47:44.040 best progress that we have the best shot
01:47:46.280 we have is one-on-one thanks riaz my pleasure
01:47:50.080 we want to thank our sponsor this half hour
01:48:02.940 yesterday we talked a little bit about
01:48:05.040 the digital media groups facebook google it is
01:48:10.480 terrifying the access to information that
01:48:13.540 they have but now take a story like this
01:48:17.040 one uh facebook 50 million accounts were
01:48:21.360 hacked into just the 50 million though no big
01:48:24.160 deal no big deal don't worry yeah there's
01:48:26.300 300 million of us that didn't have it it
01:48:29.220 didn't have we're safe of course i don't
01:48:31.020 know if i'm one of the 50 million or you
01:48:32.740 are the attackers they stole access tokens
01:48:36.380 which can take over people accounts their
01:48:38.800 digital keys perfect right it doesn't have
01:48:43.520 to worry you if you have uh lifelock
01:48:46.600 lifelock.com now nobody can stop all cyber
01:48:49.420 threats or prevent all identity theft or
01:48:51.060 monitor transactions at all businesses but
01:48:53.540 they the new lifelock identity theft
01:48:55.380 protection adds the power of norton security

01:49:20.580 i think you can see in this episode that
01:49:27.220 outrage stops us from talking to each other
01:49:30.660 we don't trust each other we don't we don't
01:49:33.040 believe in one another and we we stop using
01:49:37.320 reason we just block and it always ends the
01:49:40.880 same way which stops us from doing all of
01:49:43.640 the things that we can do we may never agree
01:49:46.260 on guns but man look at all the other things
01:49:49.140 that we can do if we can't get past the
01:49:52.020 outrage if we can't find our way to talk to
01:49:55.100 one another and there are ways as you're
01:49:57.520 seeing in this if we can't do that we're
01:50:00.980 finished so what's the plan what's the way
01:50:04.640 where we all win it's addicted to outrage
01:50:09.120 find this book and read this book and share
01:50:12.480 it with a friend it was it was written to be
01:50:15.040 able to share with somebody just like the
01:50:17.600 people you're meeting now addicted outrage
01:50:20.080 available in bookstores and online right now
01:50:23.140 about three of us on there and what and
01:50:37.020 we'll do there in a second we're building
01:50:40.060 people who just defend this book and
01:50:42.140 remember me outside the book but also
01:50:43.760 we're looking for a good altre
