00:04:39.060 welcome to the glenn beck program i am jason whitlock

00:04:54.320 if you don't remember me from yesterday or if you missed yesterday's show i am a long time

00:05:00.060 sports columnist i made my name in kansas city and then at the at espn and fox sports uh i've always

00:05:08.340 written and talked about the intersection of sports and race and culture uh and you're probably one

00:05:15.260 why would glenn beck bring a sports guy in well i'm pretty good at talking about america's racial

00:05:22.060 dilemma and we went really deep yesterday on america's racial dilemma and what i believe the

00:05:28.820 solution is and we're going to reset that conversation and react to some of uh the feedback

00:05:35.260 i got uh of course stew is here uh glenn beck's right hand man i brought my right hand man in all

00:05:43.760 the way from los angeles uncle jimmy for those of you that uh used to watch my tv show or still watch

00:05:49.560 my tv show speak for yourself uncle jimmy is on loan from fox sports uh to me the past two days

00:05:56.440 and so you'll hear from stew and uncle jimmy but i want to begin today's program kind of where we left

00:06:02.560 off yesterday we had a long three-hour conversation about how do we fix this racial disharmony that we

00:06:13.100 have here in america how do we save america from the people that are trying to turn our country 0.79

00:06:19.980 socialist communist marxist secular that is the goal how do we defeat the people trying to change 0.88

00:06:28.280 the founding principles of this country and i went into depth how i believe what liberals are doing and

00:06:36.680 the left is doing is they're secularizing the country and the first group of people that must 0.65

00:06:43.840 be secularized are african americans black people for a long time black people were america's moral

00:06:54.540 compass we were the backbone of america's religious faith this goes back to bishop richard allen who

00:07:04.500 established the ame church in the 1700s frederick douglas martin luther king even i'm going to throw in

00:07:13.840 malcolm x even though i disagree with the nation of islam and how nationalistic and how racist the 0.62

00:07:21.740 nation of islam is but it did have religious principles that malcolm x embraced and eventually

00:07:26.960 became uh a more uh practical or a more conventional traditional uh follower of islam

00:07:34.480 and the muslim religion there has been a long tradition of black religious leaders being america's

00:07:43.700 moral compass black people are being disconnected from religion and i talked yesterday about there's a 1.00

00:07:52.580 new religion and the new religion is your skin color we worship our skin color we evangelize for our skin

00:08:01.360 color and that evangelizing for our skin color through black lives matters and all these uh commercials

00:08:08.420 that are all if you just love us if you love black culture if you love me the country will be saved what a

00:08:14.400 better place america would be people aren't evangelizing for god anymore people aren't evangelizing

00:08:22.500 for jesus people aren't celebrating and suggesting and telling people that love of god is how we come

00:08:29.840 together in racial harmony and i argued yesterday and i argue again today if you look at the history of

00:08:36.300 america and our arc as it relates to racial progress we had been on a clear path of progress when we were a

00:08:46.840 country that believed in our judeo-christian values that leaned into those values over the last decade the last

00:08:55.040 20 years as we have leaned out of our faith our racial progress has stopped and we are now at a place

00:09:03.620 where it almost feels like we're at the brink of civil war we are seeing people embrace values that are

00:09:10.200 inconsistent with the values that have made us great and yesterday i did a long explanation blaming a

00:09:18.200 particular group of people for the direction we're headed and i i made a point and again i'm not

00:09:25.620 real comfortable because i i don't like really blaming and generalizing about groups but i have to be real

00:09:33.540 i have to react to the facts liberals and particularly white liberals are been the leaders of disconnecting

00:09:41.720 america black people away from religious faith and pointing them towards these superficial skin color 0.95

00:09:50.120 sexual identity that's your religion that's what you believe in that's what you support that's what you

00:09:55.800 stand for at all times you don't stand on your christian faith and and belief in god and a higher power

00:10:02.480 you don't stand on your religious faith and i think it's a mistake and i think i wrote a column about it 0.97

00:10:08.500 where i was like the the the new black pride religion is taking black people and america straight to hell 0.55

00:10:17.840 and so as is typical in my view i went to my social media feed to see how people were reacting or did react

00:10:30.460 uh to the show we did yesterday and i found the typical and i'm sorry for saying it

00:10:38.480 liberal reaction there was a guy jeff in las vegas who who tweeted at me with that said i've never seen

00:10:47.480 such a blatant attempt from an african-american writer personality make such an effort to make

00:10:52.660 conservative white people feel comfortable about having bigoted or racist feelings because he feels

00:10:58.880 like less successful blacks should be doing better and jeff's tweet at me i don't want to make too much

00:11:07.720 of it as just one person but this is a typical tactic of the left i came on this show and i was

00:11:16.780 really crystal clear with my message and jeff in las vegas and other liberals will distort exactly what i said

00:11:28.640 and exactly what was crystal clear they will turn it into something else and he turned what i did

00:11:35.700 yesterday in the three i've never seen such a blatant attempt from an african-american writer

00:11:39.680 personality to make such an effort to make conservative white people feel comfortable about

00:11:44.600 having bigoted or racist feelings the knock on conservatives is white people they don't like

00:11:52.140 talking about race that's the knock on conservatives we spent three hours talking about race so that's one

00:11:59.760 and then if my message was crystal clear i am not a denier of racism if you listen to that three hour show

00:12:11.040 it was an explanation and if you follow the columns i've written it out here it has been an explanation

00:12:17.820 yes that racism is a problem in america you're just blaming the wrong people

00:12:24.440 the show i did yesterday clearly pointed a finger that there is a racist group of people

00:12:34.180 who i said clearly the ideological descendants of slave owners

00:12:41.240 are the white liberals on the left i said that crystal clear and so trust me jeff heard it

00:12:51.500 and jeff know i'm actually making the people on the left uncomfortable by pointing out their calculated

00:13:00.280 strategic racism they keep using liberal as a shield oh my god how can you say i'm liberal i can't be racist

00:13:09.880 oh yes you can and that's why you've put that label on yourself so people won't see your racism

00:13:16.360 i see it clearly other people see it clearly people of faith see it clearly because this racial

00:13:24.240 political game you have been playing is in total objection to scripture the things in the holy bible

00:13:31.980 the things that we christians believe

00:13:34.900 it's in total objection the whole capitalizing of the b categorizing black people as this special set

00:13:44.080 of human beings that their skin color is their defining characteristic that's what the left is doing

00:13:51.940 it's the same thing slave owners did 400 years ago that's why i call them the ideological descendants 0.96

00:13:59.320 of slave owners

00:14:00.820 that show yesterday had nothing to do with making conservatives feel comfortable

00:14:12.860 in their bigoted or racist feelings the show yesterday and today is about i'm asking conservatives

00:14:22.480 of faith in particular

00:14:25.280 to lean into that faith and connect and reach out to black people of faith who have conservative values

00:14:37.540 but have fallen for a political scam that has made them disconnect from their conservative religious values

00:14:45.220 and prioritize liberal political values that are inconsistent with their faith

00:14:52.420 and so jeff and other liberals will distort everything that i said because i'm pointing a finger

00:15:02.000 directly at them that their ideology ideology their policies their point of view is harmful

00:15:11.220 for black people if you understand af the african-american journey in this country

00:15:17.320 you disconnect us from faith you disconnect this country from faith you are destroying us and this country

00:15:26.240 so if there was any confusion about what we did yesterday i want to make clear today exactly what i'm doing

00:15:37.520 because i am not ashamed of it this progressive liberal movement is disconnecting black people and america 0.67

00:15:47.920 from our faith they are destroying our country and i'm mad about it 0.99

00:15:52.600 and i will point it out day after day after day after day after day until the day that i die 0.99

00:16:00.900 because they are playing that game and trying to destroy america black people and this entire country 0.97

00:16:11.380 and i wanted to explain to this audience we need each other those of us of faith regardless of color

00:16:18.800 we need each other we need to stand together and embrace our faith and stand on our faith

00:16:24.360 the same way these people stand on their political ideology

00:16:28.360 we need to be just as bold and just as steadfast

00:16:32.760 when we come back after a short break i'm gonna bring uh stew and uncle jimmy in to see did they hear

00:16:45.180 yesterday show the way that i heard it or did they hear it the way jeff heard it don't go anywhere

00:18:00.400 welcome back to the glenn beck program i am jason whitlock sitting in for glenn beck

00:18:15.440 all right i think i've set the table for today uh stew am i right did i hear yesterday's show

00:18:22.680 the way i thought i heard it did i say the things i thought i said or is jeff in las vegas

00:18:27.720 is he correct was i was i here to make uh white conservatives comfortable sometimes people make

00:18:33.160 mistakes and think they're on one radio station and actually on another i don't know it's interesting

00:18:38.940 you know doing the show with you the past couple of days and you know i i don't know you that well

00:18:42.940 you know we've hung out the last couple days it's been great but i know your work over a long period

00:18:46.880 of time i mean i'm a fan of yours going back to your sports writing and i would say the last way

00:18:51.660 i would describe jason whitlock is to say that he wants to make people feel comfortable like you want

00:18:57.760 to make people feel uncomfortable you want to challenge them and that is i think what this country

00:19:03.000 needs we need to be more uncomfortable with the way that we think more often you know i think if you're

00:19:10.020 if you're if you're not good at being uncomfortable you'll just stay exactly the same

00:19:14.300 forever you need to be put iron sharpens iron yeah exactly you need to be put in that you need

00:19:19.940 to be challenged you need to be put in those in those positions where the things you've thought

00:19:24.180 about and maybe took for granted as a viewpoint are challenged i think that's you know half of what

00:19:29.960 makes the world interesting frankly but also is really important because you can get stuck in these

00:19:35.480 patterns where you continue to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result

00:19:39.620 and i think when people are challenged in those long sort of foundational uh beliefs

00:19:46.620 that's a good thing you know people get so offended when you knock them out of their their little like

00:19:53.260 safe little space zone yeah and that's not what america was built on man we this whole country was

00:19:59.680 built on challenging the way the world worked and thank god it was thank god it was so i you know i don't

00:20:06.220 know what he's talking about frankly uh i think the last thing you're trying to do is coddle people

00:20:11.080 here this is the exact reverse of your of your intent they call me a contrarian i don't know if

00:20:17.060 contrarian it provides comfort but no it's the exact opposite uncle jimmy did uh what did you hear

00:20:26.440 yesterday and and what do you think of jeff says that uh you know i'm making conservatives white

00:20:32.120 because i feel i i because he feels like less successful black people should be doing better

00:20:37.960 and and you know what's funny is i actually do feel like black people should be doing better i'm not 0.94

00:20:43.820 ashamed of that i actually believe that i wonder if he thinks that they should be doing worse well i mean

00:20:49.840 considering that you share bigoted and racist feelings i mean i think that most bigots and racists

00:20:56.440 want to subside and subdue less less fortunate people i mean that that's what they do i don't

00:21:05.180 think that in other words man i don't know what the hell he's talking about and i don't think he does

00:21:08.720 either that's what i'm trying to tell you okay i mean you just jumping all across because what i heard

00:21:15.600 yesterday was acceptance for one's actions i heard that you need to be responsible for what

00:21:23.980 you do and you can't run around here and blame everybody else for your problems now you hear what

00:21:29.600 you want that's what i heard okay you know and i'm only speaking for myself and what i've learned from

00:21:34.600 you if i may i mean i look man i've learned things from you through life and one of the things that i

00:21:41.400 learned from you let me stop you for one second no no i don't want to stop because i want you to

00:21:46.200 continue i just want to clarify because we have this is a new audience for us and they're not familiar

00:21:52.300 with i call jimmy uncle jimmy he's not my uncle he's one of my best friends in life and been my friend

00:22:01.140 i moved to kansas city i think in 1994 connected with jimmy around 1997 98 and jimmy's a little bit older

00:22:09.880 than me but our roles are kind of reversed he calls me big brother i call him uncle jimmy or used to

00:22:18.700 used back in my old kansas city radio days we called him jimmy the freak but anyway jimmy's uncle jimmy's

00:22:26.400 actually a friend of mine now continue that kind of took the little no that took a sizzle from the story

00:22:33.760 no no the thing about you jason that that gets me is and i learned this you all hate

00:22:41.540 the messenger you're hating the messenger you're not even listening to the message

00:22:46.640 okay first of all that's that's the deal with you uh i can only speak for myself and what i learned

00:22:52.640 from you and there was a moment in my life and when we talk about this and i always i always talk

00:22:57.740 about this keep going but we're just going to tease this story because we're up against a commercial

00:23:01.940 break so just set it up for when we get on the other side i just want to talk about when i became

00:23:06.080 friends with jason whitlock and he became my friend he was my dog and there was another guy that i felt

00:23:12.400 was coming to my friend he was threatening my friend so i had to step up and defend my friend

00:23:19.420 because my friend was working on the mic i had to step up and say hey step back because that's what i did

00:23:25.900 and if you didn't step back we was going to have a problem

00:23:28.880 that's jim and i had a pivotal moment in our friendship 20 years ago he's going to expound

00:23:39.300 on that when we come back on the other side of this commercial break i'm jason whitlock you're

00:25:25.060 welcome back to the glenn beck program i am jason whitlock sitting in for glenn beck

00:25:35.420 stew and uncle jimmy are here with me and before we went to break uh uncle jimmy was about to tell a story

00:25:43.880 that connects to some of the feedback i got yesterday from someone trying to recast distort

00:25:49.740 what we did on the show yesterday uh a jeff in las vegas tweeted at me i've never seen such a blatant

00:25:55.640 attempt from an african-american writer person i make such an effort to make conservative white people

00:26:01.100 feel comfortable about having bigoted or racist feelings because he feels like and this is the key

00:26:06.940 part that i think jimmy's responded to the guy is accusing me of saying that i feel like less

00:26:13.360 successful blacks should be doing better and i actually i'm gonna plead guilty to that that yeah 0.95

00:26:21.180 at one time you know i feel like i should be doing better and i'm relatively successful

00:26:26.480 i feel like all people should be doing better my parents made it a priority for me that i do better than

00:26:34.620 them my mother was a factory worker my father didn't graduate high school my father was a uh

00:26:41.600 entrepreneur in the inner city first started out a factory worker owned a business a bar in the inner

00:26:48.300 city they demanded that i do better and i think jim is going to tell a story about a pivotal moment in

00:26:58.800 our friendship 20 years ago where i i demanded that jim do better at that time when it happened it

00:27:08.740 wasn't presented in that manner okay it sounds like that now and he can take it like that now but at

00:27:14.920 that time it wasn't perceived like that it was a it was a determining factor in our friendship and in

00:27:21.620 all truthfulness it was a moment that meant more to me in life than it meant for you and if i'll go

00:27:28.580 back to it um how far back shall i go we was in kansas city it was jason and i were at a he was doing a

00:27:35.700 remote at hooters i was doing my radio show nice jim was a fan and a caller of my radio show i was a

00:27:42.640 friend yeah okay i i had i had crossed over from the fan to her yeah i was a friend okay uh there was

00:27:51.780 a situation going on to with other callers and there was a particular caller by the name of casey casey

00:27:57.100 and uh which means nothing to you all but continue i just love dropping that out there anyway um we're

00:28:04.080 here and um i see casey show up and i had already knew that there was a little there was words exchanged

00:28:10.460 and so i'm watching him the whole time and he comes up to jesus trying to get jason's attention

00:28:15.200 and i push him away well he wants to get me i push him away one thing leads to another and we have words

00:28:23.500 and we have more words and finally have to let him know in a louder voice step away and if you don't

00:28:32.160 step away we're gonna have a problem and it got a little more carried away it escalated and there was

00:28:37.100 a problem and when it was all said and done we actually he actually was mad at me what the hell 0.63

00:28:43.980 what is wrong with you what are you doing hey man i'm defending you and i actually left and we didn't

00:28:51.120 speak when we talked later on that night he said jim what is wrong with you man what you mean what's

00:28:56.720 wrong with me i was defending you what you mean he said what is what is what are you why are you

00:29:02.560 talking like that hey man this dude disrespected me he said what do you mean he disrespected you jim

00:29:08.380 he disrespected me as a man he said jim did he take money out of your pocket did he do something to

00:29:16.680 you that was gonna stop food from being on your table from buying your daughter groceries no but 0.96

00:29:23.300 he did he did he disrespected me and he disrespected you he said jim you'll sound just

00:29:30.080 like them people at my daddy's club that's where he got me at i am them people from your daddy's club

00:29:37.340 that's who i am that's where i'm from he said and that's where you gonna always stay is right there in

00:29:43.980 that club

00:29:44.480 and that bothered me for a minute because i didn't want to stay in that club

00:29:50.280 and i had to understand what it was he was saying see i thought jason was one of us i thought he was

00:29:57.040 from the streets i thought he was about that life you ain't about that life man you're talking about

00:30:03.980 something else you're telling me to leave that foolishness behind you're telling me hey man if you

00:30:10.220 want to roll with me you can't do that and he and i didn't talk for almost two years really he told

00:30:17.820 you that was 98 i joined the sheriff's department in 2001 when he saw me again i went from being a

00:30:26.660 comedian dj to wearing a badge and hold on let's keep it real a comedian at a barbershop is not a

00:30:35.700 comedian you're cracking jokes among you no i got paid a couple of times i got paid a couple times

00:30:41.100 he was a dj at a nightclub caught the firelight and i was loved yeah i get it and trust it on this

00:30:49.380 i love my dad's bar the masterpiece lounge is the greatest place on earth it's we sold it my dad passed

00:30:55.420 loved it loved the people but those people including my father had aspirations for me and my brother

00:31:04.120 we don't want y'all to be factory workers we don't want y'all to just be hanging out at the

00:31:09.080 masterpiece lounge five days a week we want you to go on and do bigger and better things that was my

00:31:14.920 mission in life given to me by my parents and to to jim was behaving in a fashion publicly

00:31:24.360 that was like embarrassing for a grown man and one of the things i said to jim i was like hey man

00:31:30.160 unless this dude is taking clothes off your kids back or taking food off the table that you're

00:31:38.280 feeding your kids he ain't really done nothing but he has not disrespected you he's disrespected

00:31:44.180 himself you have to have a higher purpose than just arguing i didn't see it like that

00:31:49.960 because he done said a few words you disagree with that's right and and i was like if you can't

00:31:58.960 hop on that train you can't ride in my you can't hide you can't ride on my train and uh i'm cool with

00:32:08.640 that and so literally that is my and it's like i look at this guy jeff and say uh feels like less

00:32:19.220 successful black should be doing better i can't deny that and and and i say that because

00:32:28.380 i come from a family my parents didn't tolerate excuses and so my senior year of high school i

00:32:38.200 said this yesterday i think on the show in 1984 my senior year of high school again my dad had had

00:32:44.240 lost the bar he had a bar called jimmy's j bar j irs and back taxes took it from me and so i'm living

00:32:51.500 with my dad in 1984 in a one bedroom 400 square foot apartment in the hood and there just weren't

00:33:00.960 any excuses tolerated my dad wasn't sitting there saying you know what you don't have to do any

00:33:07.200 homework you don't have to uh do well in school you don't have to continue with your football career

00:33:12.820 and get a football scholarship we're poor you have an excuse he just wasn't that was not his mentality

00:33:21.740 he didn't make any excuses he didn't tolerate any excuses and so i am from that mentality of

00:33:32.180 you have to look within and fix your problems and move forward despite whatever the obstacles are

00:33:42.820 poverty uh people saying insensitive things to you that maybe maybe come from a place of

00:33:49.780 racial bigotry you can't fold you can't oh i can't make it now someone said something inappropriate

00:33:59.860 to me someone said something disrespectful to me i control and this is what i've stressed to

00:34:08.420 that everyone is i control my feelings there is no outsider if and i say this all if you call me a

00:34:18.540 name stew or jim calls me a name how i respond to that how i feel about that's on me outsiders don't

00:34:27.120 control my emotions and that's what i you know try to convey to jim and what i try to convey uh what i

00:34:37.440 was trying to convey on the show yesterday in terms of i think it's a very christian point of view

00:34:43.460 i'm here to serve god and no one else and until he comes down and has harsh words for me

00:34:52.860 i really just am not moved by other people's harsh words and criticisms and they're not

00:35:01.300 going to dictate my behavior and and that and i'm going to get into this on the other side of this

00:35:09.880 commercial break but one of the weapons being used against us that are believers is we've become

00:35:18.640 silent and somewhat ashamed of our beliefs we don't want to wear our christianity on our sleeves

00:35:26.640 because we know we'll fall short and we know that the left will point out our fall and say well

00:35:33.460 you're not a christian look what you did look and i just totally reject that i am flawed i am a sinner

00:35:42.220 but i am a believer and i'm going to wear that on my sleeve and i'm going to let god do the judging

00:35:47.580 and any of these other people that are trying to do the judging who have elected themselves god

00:35:53.180 we have to have the courage to reject that i'm going to explain more on the other side of this

00:35:59.720 i'm jason whitlock this is the glenn beck program you're listening to glenn beck

00:37:08.000 welcome back to the glenn beck program i'm jason whitlock sitting in for glenn beck happy day

00:37:18.280 before thanksgiving stew uncle jimmy here with me i was making a point uh before we went to break in

00:37:25.840 that last segment about the silent majority those of us that are believers we have to unsilence ourselves

00:37:32.760 real quickly before i'm sorry don't don't smack me for interrupting but i just want to ask you

00:37:40.040 real quick if i can go back and pick up on that story that you cut me eloquently cut me off of because

00:37:45.120 i was getting to the and i'm very serious i was getting to the disrespectfully cut him off from but

00:37:49.040 go ahead and i'm serious about the part of that story was because that was so significant in my life

00:37:55.560 of me personally not to you but to me because that was a point in my life where i had to make a

00:38:01.040 decision i had to make a decision upon am i gonna first of all was he right or was he wrong

00:38:06.360 and see that's what we have to do as people you know people can tell you something but you have to

00:38:12.800 know when you've heard right and see this is why you need to have a spirit in you that you know when

00:38:19.640 god is telling you something and you either listen or you don't listen and for me you better listen to

00:38:25.580 what that dude said because if not you're gonna end up like everybody that he's talking about in 0.98

00:38:31.420 his daddy's club and in your club and in all other black people like you this is why you end up in the 1.00

00:38:37.700 graveyard this is why you end up in jail because you can't control your emotions because you can't 0.95

00:38:42.000 control your feelings and this is what happened so if you want to go down that road go ahead i done

00:38:45.720 told you once and it was at that moment and like you heard me say when we met two years later i was

00:38:50.700 wearing a uniform for the windout county sheriff's department i had a gun on my side i no longer

00:38:55.280 drank i no longer did all these things i haven't had a drink since the can city chiefs beat the san

00:38:59.760 diego chargers on monday night football when tameric vanover ran the kickoff back and martin

00:39:04.060 schottenheimer kissed him in the end zone so when i tell you see this is my life i can say this

00:39:09.980 you know and when you do this and when you make these changes in your life then you can stand up and say

00:39:14.460 hey this dude helped me and make a change i'm like i don't see why you mess with whitlock 0.82

00:39:19.680 because this man helped me out and showed me some things not just him but see i had to i had to want

00:39:25.960 to do better and that's the problem that people don't they don't want to do better they good with

00:39:30.580 the way things are i want to do better you know why because somebody told me i could do better

00:39:35.100 somebody showed me a better way and i had enough sense and enough god-given ability to go

00:39:39.880 that's right thank you for for sharing with me what your daddy put in you because i didn't have

00:39:48.240 a daddy to put that in all i had was what the streets put in and believe me that's what was

00:39:53.160 waiting on me so there you go i'm done with that story thank you for letting me share it that was

00:39:58.040 good that was much better than uh what i was gonna say uh what's new thank you for accept this is the

00:40:06.820 first step to recovery good now he's taught you something yeah that was good jim uh but look and

00:40:13.820 i've only got a short time before we get to break but i wanted to make one final point about

00:40:18.400 why we should be more comfortable wearing our beliefs on our sleeves and not in a way of in your

00:40:26.220 face or putting people down who don't share our beliefs but one of the tricks that's being played on

00:40:34.600 those of us that are believers and i'm going to point to politics to make this point but i was

00:40:40.800 reading a daily wire story yesterday i think it came out a week ago about how the polls listed like

00:40:47.080 27 house races as toss-ups and republicans won all 27 of them and and and then there were some other

00:40:57.620 categories that were supposedly leaning democratic that the republicans flipped a lot of those

00:41:02.480 and and and what i the reason i'm bringing this up is we are being convinced that our way of thinking

00:41:11.360 has passed and the country has gone a different direction and it's just not true the things that

00:41:19.960 we talked about today the things that i'm saying today ring true to the in my view the majority of

00:41:28.600 americans black white brown asian whatever they may not even be christ followers but the wisdom

00:41:36.420 that's in christianity yep they still believe in and it's like the fake polling or the misleading

00:41:45.200 polling that they put out about politics they're putting out fake polling through social media that

00:41:53.580 this is a secular country it's not a secular country what has happened is the believers have become the 0.97

00:42:03.660 silent majority we have to unsilence ourselves not in a negative way not in a condescending way

00:42:12.240 but where are your beliefs don't be ashamed just because god's not done working with you

00:42:18.560 i am a sinner lust is still a problem for me i have many other problems but i'm not ashamed of

00:42:25.620 saying that i'm a believer i'm jason whitlock this is the glenn beck program everyone wants to keep

00:45:28.140 all right jason woodlock sitting in for glenn beck on the glenn beck program i am reading directly

00:45:44.580 from vice dot com how often does that happen on the glenn beck show but uh several penguin random

00:45:51.740 house canada employees confronted management about the company's decision to publish a new book

00:45:58.480 by controversial canadian psychologist jordan peterson at an emotional town hall monday and

00:46:05.920 dozens more have filed anonymous complaints according to four workers who spoke to vice

00:46:12.080 world news on monday penguin random house canada canada's largest book publisher and a subsidiary

00:46:19.480 of penguin random house announced it will be publishing beyond order 12 more rules for life

00:46:25.780 by peterson to be released in march 2021 the book will be published by portfolio in the u.s

00:46:32.560 and penguin press in the uk both part of the penguin random house empire for penguin random house

00:46:39.820 canada employees who did not want to be named due to concerns over their employment said the company

00:46:45.300 held a town hall about the book monday during which executives defended the decision to publish

00:46:50.520 peterson while employees cited their concerns about platforming someone who is popular in far

00:46:58.520 right circles oh how dare they how dare they give someone with a viewpoint a platform yes can't do that

00:47:05.300 who nerve people who people enjoy reading you got to help me out here stew i'm like everybody else i

00:47:15.160 know who jordan peterson is but i'm not an expert there were people crying during this town hall yeah 0.95

00:47:22.900 why are they is he that dangerous what are they crying about well first of all they're insane 0.64

00:47:28.820 uh but uh yeah no it's true i mean jordan peterson i guess is controversial i don't i've never really

00:47:34.600 understood the why you know he is a canadian academic uh who you know kind of became famous

00:47:41.640 for youtube uh speeches and lectures he was giving right and occasionally getting in fights on on uh

00:47:48.660 during interviews about you know saying things that you know used to be very very common and true

00:47:54.680 his one of his he got in trouble was some degree over a transgendered controversy where he basically

00:48:01.600 said you can call yourself whatever you'd like a man or a woman however that does not force me

00:48:07.280 to to agree or recognize your reality i'm going to stick with what is actually true um and so that

00:48:14.720 was controversial to many he wrote a book called 12 rules of life as well um and but listen listen

00:48:20.700 to this because this goes back to what we were talking about last hour listen to these rules

00:48:23.540 uh 12 rules for life one stand up straight with your shoulders back hell yeah treat yourself like

00:48:30.300 you are someone you are responsible for helping right no no crazy make friends with people who

00:48:37.880 want the best for you i mean uncle jimmy you just talked about this this is exactly it and now i'm

00:48:42.120 calling you uncle jimmy that's who i am all right okay good don't you forget it compare yourself with

00:48:48.600 who you were yesterday not with who someone else is today wow great advice do you uh i want the book

00:48:55.780 um just skipping through a couple of them here uh set your house in perfect order before you

00:49:01.120 criticize the world that's great advice pursue what is meaningful not what is expedient tell the truth

00:49:07.800 or at least don't lie assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don't

00:49:14.920 be precise in your speech these are great pieces of advice for anyone of any color whether you're

00:49:22.900 straight gay transgender whatever you are those are all great pieces of advice how is that

00:49:28.920 controversial it's i think and again this is all my limited knowledge and i ran this by you before

00:49:34.100 the show but to me jordan peterson represents the patriarchy and that's what makes him controversial

00:49:42.680 in this time there's people that want to institute empower the matriarchy and jordan peterson is 1.00

00:49:52.660 is logically debunking their beliefs and and they're mad as hell about it and and and i hear you on the 0.56

00:50:02.020 the whole transgender thing and and and i i guess it's controversial i'm i'm but just because you

00:50:10.240 identify i i'll go back to what we talked about yesterday sean king identifies as a black person

00:50:16.180 i'm not going to respect that i'm just sorry he's not are you supposed to act like that's the truth

00:50:22.940 because he says it's the truth it's not the truth the truth is something it's it's concrete it's a

00:50:28.860 foundational principle we're all sean king said it so it is jim you you jim knows me well and and

00:50:36.820 i have identified myself to a number of really attractive women as one of the most in shape

00:50:45.640 most eligible bachelors in america that's how i identify and a lot of them have rejected that and

00:50:54.200 i didn't should i should i cry about it should i hold a town hall meeting and what are you doing

00:51:00.060 well i mean don't don't i look like the mayor of chicago

00:51:05.760 what's her name or gordon gordon lightfoot or mayor blackfoot i want y'all to recognize me as that

00:51:14.320 stop it you're gonna get us in trouble

00:51:20.400 the fire came and then it was the smoke and then the corona

00:51:26.720 somebody help me you do look like laurie lightfoot

00:51:31.520 it's a good it does there's some there's some are you related to laurie lightfoot is your

00:51:37.880 uncle jimmy lightfoot is your last name lightfoot well i am part blackfoot

00:51:41.820 i mean if that counts

00:51:45.740 i'm saying you can answer any you can call yourself anything you want to okay

00:51:53.020 that's all i'm saying i just i can't believe people are crying at work over a book that they

00:52:00.820 disagree with that that's that they do it over the bible

00:52:06.280 is that i'm trying to think that one through

00:52:11.960 yeah they do it with the bible too so go ahead yeah i get they probably would object to the bible

00:52:17.080 being you can't read it in school oh wow okay come on let's keep going what's the problem

00:52:22.680 yeah and so i i don't i i'm gonna have to look more into jordan peterson and i get that he's a big

00:52:33.020 deal and i'm kind of late to the party i again i'm familiar with him and his point of view i've

00:52:37.540 watched some of his youtube videos but the fact that a book with just rules for life and if they're

00:52:44.380 i've never read this book but just listening to these rules it's like i i say it all the time and i

00:52:50.980 guess this applies i reduce it down to black people and i guess this applies to everybody and i should

00:52:57.560 take the race out of it but i've seen black people get destroyed for giving black people good advice 1.00

00:53:07.120 that if you're someone who's like hey man i think you should do x y and z and blah blah how dare you 0.99

00:53:14.380 tell black people what they should do pull your pants up yeah how dare you give them good advice 1.00

00:53:21.080 and and i've seen because i'm in the sports world i see what's happening to coaches a lot as things 0.98

00:53:28.380 have been racialized coaches are now afraid particularly white coaches are afraid to pass

00:53:35.160 on their values to their players if you remember the the tradition in sports has been like particularly

00:53:41.500 in college sports uh that college head coach football basketball is going to be like a father

00:53:47.540 figure to your son i'm gonna take care of him like he's my son that was the promise you made to the

00:53:53.440 mom and dad who were turning their kid over to you and now coaches because many of them particularly

00:53:59.600 in football have these old school values they're afraid we saw it this summer in the aftermath of

00:54:07.680 the george floyd of coaches there was a coach that got in trouble uh for reading bible scriptures

00:54:14.820 to a player told you and uh you know the player said he was offended by that and and and this player

00:54:23.660 this was a coach in west virginia i think he was their defensive coordinator he was at during the

00:54:28.520 beginning of covid in the lockdown he was driving uh like 60 miles each way delivering food to one of

00:54:36.860 his players who was trapped by covid and blah blah needed some support and help and this player turned

00:54:43.620 around and accused him of being a racist or accused him of being racially insensitive over nonsensical

00:54:51.300 stuff and over the fact that this coach's values he thought weren't in support of black lives matters

00:54:59.840 or or whatever and i'm like they're demanding of coaches that they not pass on their values the values

00:55:07.340 that made them successful don't give them to the kids because they might be offended by them

00:55:13.000 they don't want to be like a white man they want to blah blah blah and so you're handcuffing the coaches

00:55:18.900 it's like i can only talk x's and o's with you because i don't know what might offend you

00:55:24.560 or what might be me trying to force my values on you and again this is what coaches have been doing for

00:55:32.800 70 years 100 years and jordan peterson's in trouble for passing on the values that he believes in in

00:55:42.620 books he he's in he's controversial but i thought that's what most writers did trying to be provocative

00:55:51.840 right yeah i mean you know look he's just saying be a man and that's controversial right uh yeah 0.65

00:55:58.180 toxic masculinity and like i i know i've never met a conservative who's gonna cry over a freaking

00:56:06.120 book you know we might not like books you know there might be certain books we think are terrible

00:56:11.400 but i always want more speech not less i want more people saying what they believe so i can come out

00:56:17.660 here and say that's stupid for this reason you know instead we are in this culture where someone

00:56:23.160 brings up a controversial point and people sob at work i would get if jordan peterson's book 0.98

00:56:30.700 was supposed to be read in grade schools junior high to kids or whatever if that's what it was intended

00:56:38.160 for i'd be like if i'm a parent i don't want jordan peterson's values i don't want given to my kids

00:56:45.140 i i would almost get that but he's just putting out a book for the public people

00:56:49.600 they're not going straight to school systems you gotta get on amazon or do it go to a bookstore buy

00:56:55.780 the book blah blah blah it's like his ideas are being outlawed or trying to be silenced or canceled

00:57:01.620 it's crazy all right i'm gonna i wanted to address the jordan peterson thing because i just found it

00:57:07.560 fascinating this morning when i woke up and read that and uh stew thank you for helping me out there

00:58:18.960 qnlabs.com qnlabs.com

00:58:21.960 all right well back to the glenn beck program i made the mistake of looking at my twitter feed during 0.98

00:58:39.380 that one minute break and i just someone just tweeted at me that i'm a disgusting transphobic jerk 0.98

00:58:44.120 he should be fired oh congratulations you haven't even got the job yet 0.99

00:58:48.020 wow that was quick that was very quick hey i want to go back and talk about a couple things one

00:58:57.460 i want to invite some listeners into the show 888-727-2325 i promise you i will take some phone calls

00:59:09.340 during this show the day before thanksgiving we need to we can't get together in our houses so we need

00:59:16.080 to make this table this uh whatever virtual linear table we have here with this discussion we need to

00:59:23.220 make it broader and bring you guys into the discussion i i want i had a conversation yesterday

00:59:29.620 after the show uh with with tyler who who works here and tyler's a very uh fascinating person a very

00:59:39.780 thoughtful person and we were discussing yesterday's show and he had some interesting thoughts that kind

00:59:48.140 of check because yesterday i was talking about black pride being a religion and black people worshiping

00:59:54.880 skin color and the mainstream media and corporate america and advertisers pushing out this worship of

01:00:01.640 skin color and i talked about the ap the associated press capitalizing to be in black and it's a special

01:00:08.080 distinction and qualification or defining characteristic and and tyler made a point to me that i about a

01:00:15.820 strain of this new religion and and he said the religion is activism and it really struck a

01:00:24.540 chord with me because i would say for the last five or six years as as i would look at my twitter feed and

01:00:32.080 people would respond to me and i would go look at their bios and i was amazed at how many people

01:00:38.340 listed activists as their job as activists and i was like i mean activists used to be a handful of very

01:00:49.240 influential people uh that represented large swaths of people but activism is now like anybody can do it

01:00:59.400 it it's it's almost like selling avon or uh what's the one that everybody jokes about the the job that

01:01:06.720 are the the career i can't think of amway amway yes it's like it's like am was the last time you seen

01:01:12.980 some amway it's still out there they just call it something different they call it activism

01:01:18.600 actually and i've been amazed like what everybody's an activist that's a job that's a religion and i see

01:01:26.920 it as an extension of liberalism in terms of anointing yourself a god and anointing yourself a judger

01:01:38.440 of other people's actions and worldview and points of view and your job is to go out and evangelize

01:01:48.140 for other people to behave the way that you want them to behave and as a christian and and and

01:01:59.180 tyler reminded me of this and it it it it really sunk home with me because all of my values are about

01:02:07.660 what can i do to make things better what can i do to make things better for me for the people i love

01:02:16.880 and then i want to be the change that i want to see and that's the best way of me affecting change

01:02:24.800 globally locally globally in this room at the westin hotel where i'm staying or whatever if i can just be

01:02:33.840 the best me and put that energy out into the universe and i believe that is the battle and and tyler and i

01:02:42.420 that's the battle for christians the real battlefield is within us as individuals activists believe the

01:02:53.280 battlefield is outside of them and can they get other people to do certain things and and that's where

01:03:03.700 i'm at a disconnect with the prevailing sentiment for how we move america forward but in particular

01:03:13.920 how we move black america forward and this has been my problem i've said to people all the time

01:03:21.380 you're acting as if we if we improve white people if we make white people love us more

01:03:29.700 our life will get so much better what if we don't love ourself that's number one and so i ask people

01:03:38.360 all i a friend of mine who was a great athlete you know had a cup of coffee in the nfl had a cup of

01:03:44.400 coffee in the nba great friend of mine and and i asked him uh probably last week two weeks ago i was

01:03:51.340 like what if someone came to you as an athlete and said you know what if we improve your white teammate

01:03:58.400 that'll make you better and so we're going to send him to michael jordan's camp and we're going to spend

01:04:04.800 a bunch of money and invest in improving this other guy and you just you know just kind of stay status

01:04:11.440 quo but if we get him better you'll be better i said as an athlete would you reject that he was

01:04:16.720 like of course i would so what are we doing if we're not focusing on ourselves and improving

01:04:24.600 ourselves that is the path forward for all of us all right i'm jason whitlock you're listening to the

01:05:50.820 welcome back jason whitlock sitting in for glenn beck on the glenn beck program

01:06:02.900 all right happy day before thanksgiving as promised i'm gonna go to the phone lines

01:06:07.700 888-727-2325 i need to hear from you about yesterday's show and today's show i think we're gonna

01:06:17.680 go out first to mike in north carolina mike in north carolina welcome to the program

01:06:23.520 thanks jason i appreciate you having me i'm agreeing with everything you're saying i wish i could talk

01:06:29.120 to you for hours uh because every topic you're touching on is what i've been thinking about

01:06:33.860 lately the main one is that uh there don't seem to be any men anymore uh much less adults um i think

01:06:43.500 we need more masculine leadership um and you touched on it before with peterson's book anything

01:06:50.020 masculine now is uh being denigrated and um i just think that uh if we're to go back to a more

01:06:57.820 conservative uh world uh we need more masculine leadership the responses you get from the from the

01:07:04.980 jeffs in california of the world or the responses to peterson's book or any response these days to anything

01:07:10.500 political or cultural is not uh is emotional it's hysterical it's hostile it's angry um and those

01:07:20.380 are not masculine qualities in my opinion and i think until we get back those qualities it's going

01:07:28.420 to be a hard road trying to um get to the type of world that that uh that you're describing mike i agree

01:07:36.500 with you a thousand percent uh there is a way to be responsibly masculine what what the mainstream

01:07:46.240 media what social media what twitter has done and facebook is they've turned masculinity into this

01:07:54.160 very negative word it can only have this negative connotation of toxic masculinity i'm just sorry if

01:08:02.480 there if it weren't for masculinity america would have never become what it has become what it's it's

01:08:11.080 like yesterday i hate to simplify did you see the thing yesterday where the guy uh wrestled his dog out

01:08:18.100 of an alligator's mouth i love that guy and i did too and i was just like we need more of that because

01:08:24.300 again i watched that and i was like man i don't know if i would have been man enough to do that

01:08:28.340 i hope that i would but i was like i i respect that and and good luck puppy i'm not going there

01:08:35.060 and you would have went after it if it was a piece of chicken

01:08:38.600 but honestly masculinity to me and and again if you look at 2020 and the number one emotion

01:08:52.420 that has controlled all of our actions fear fear fear is in control of america fear oh go out and vote

01:09:03.520 donald trump's gonna turn the country into germany fear fear everything fear

01:09:10.560 wear a mask at all times even when you're asleep by yourself if you're driving in your car

01:09:17.220 wear a mask everything is fear and that's why i keep talking about god

01:09:26.420 because the number one advantage to religious faith is it tones down it dampens it helps you

01:09:37.080 overcome fear and and and it's why a lot of times christians are misunderstood

01:09:43.660 because again not when you're young but about the time when you become a mature christian and it may

01:09:51.820 not happen to 40s or 50s but i really did reach a point and i've reached that point where i don't fear

01:10:01.580 death and and again that's what's put me outside the the covid fear mongers is like they don't know

01:10:10.700 what's going to happen to them when they pass i feel comfortable i'm i'm willing to accept that

01:10:18.480 and it's because of my faith and so i'm just not going to live in fear of covid and i'm not someone

01:10:28.100 that thinks covid isn't for real i've had friends with it i've had family members with it it is real

01:10:35.280 but it's not going to stop me from living my life that when i think about people and the sacrifices

01:10:43.400 they made for us to have the country that we enjoy have the freedoms that we enjoy when i go back and

01:10:50.520 think about those human beings that sacrificed their life to preserve this union and to end slavery

01:10:57.360 had they been controlled by fear none of the progress we made would be possible none of it and so

01:11:09.840 that's how i know like they leaned into their faith far more than we are and so i think once you lean into

01:11:20.020 your faith you become less controlled by fear and men become more masculine and we certainly need more

01:11:27.640 of that mike thank you for the phone call 888-727-2325 is the phone number to call kelly in texas welcome to the

01:11:38.520 program hi jason um the biggest problem that i see is that we are dealing with situationally ethical

01:11:47.240 and moral people right which is why for instance somebody who blew up people in buildings in the

01:11:54.480 70s is now welcome at their parties and to teach their children um it's a problem um but and i'm a

01:12:01.680 christian full disclosure but people of any faith really they have a true north it's truth and it's moral

01:12:08.600 compass um situationally ethical and moral people don't have that which is why stealing an election

01:12:15.100 well it's on the other side of on the other side of that is what i want and so that becomes ethically

01:12:21.080 moral to my idea or speaking on daytime television in the united states of america about putting people

01:12:27.760 on a list because they believe differently than you do or i think it was de niro who said um

01:12:32.900 republicans need to be afraid um the problem is my husband and i are both veterans and um the biggest

01:12:42.100 problem with all of these things is that these two will eventually converge right because ethically

01:12:47.440 and moral people people of all faiths really are polite and they don't want to be in an adversarial

01:12:53.860 position and right now i think that's being used against us because on the other side of the bill

01:13:01.020 of rights which is a moral truth right it is a compass that was designed with that in mind

01:13:05.660 you're going to find a moment where you get too much against that and people regular people veterans

01:13:13.380 my husband was in afghanistan twice okay there are going to be there's going to be a tipping point

01:13:18.100 where okay hold my beer this is going too far my prayers is that before that time hit in this country

01:13:27.400 we people who are like-minded come together and just politely stand up and say yeah no that's not

01:13:35.100 what we have sworn enough to protect that's not the direction we're going and um and we will love

01:13:43.280 you all the way to where your situationally ethical and moral compass is way too far on the outside and

01:13:49.580 now we have a problem um because it's worth fighting for i'm just hoping we don't have to get there

01:13:55.560 i i i fear that we're really close to what you're talking about and and that's why i've been so

01:14:04.720 thankful for the last two days to have this platform to to try to tell people we have to

01:14:12.060 lean into our faith and those of us of faith there are more of us out there than is being recognized

01:14:18.820 and and if we come together and start wearing it on our sleeves and start really celebrating the power

01:14:28.460 and uh the positiveness the the the the progress that can be made by leaning into our faith i think

01:14:37.900 we're going to attract other people that have been run into the closet it's like people are are really

01:14:45.060 uncomfortable to to admit that they have this faith it's become so hostile out there

01:14:53.100 and i i i think those of us of faith have to wear it and and again not in a condescending or offensive

01:15:04.920 way but we have to let people know what we stand for and and then we have to be willing to stand on

01:15:12.300 that and and and so there's a lot of the mainstream media and that's why i'm sure you're here at blaze tv

01:15:17.300 right we just have to take their audience away and you have to go support the kind of media

01:15:24.600 that is fair objective consistent with your values and again that doesn't mean exist in an echo chamber

01:15:34.620 but you also don't have to live in their echo chamber of lies and deceit if you look and i've been

01:15:42.320 very careful i don't want to be super partisan on this election but they create with fear they created

01:15:50.720 and an atmosphere and an environment rife right for cheating if you convince people that president

01:16:00.580 trump is the remaking of adolf hitler why wouldn't you cheat any moral or ethical person who believes

01:16:10.200 that president trump is adolf hitler should cheat at the polls i i really believe that oh my god this

01:16:17.580 guy's adolf hitler he he's gonna put up people in ovens he's gonna what did joe biden say when trump

01:16:22.740 first became praised gonna put us back in chains if you believe that you should cheat and the media did

01:16:29.700 everything in their in their power to make you believe that this guy was satan himself and if you

01:16:37.360 believe he's satan there's nothing wrong with cheating to make sure he doesn't get in office

01:16:42.980 and quite frankly that's what i believe happened they created an atmosphere that provoked people

01:16:48.420 to cheat and they did and uh anyway uh kelly thank you for the phone call uh we got to take a break

01:16:58.240 we'll come back take some more of your phone calls and i got some more to say about activism

01:17:02.640 being the new religion i'm jason whitlock this is the glenn beck program you're listening to glenn beck

01:18:20.580 welcome back to the glenn beck program jason whitlock sitting in for glenn beck happy the day before

01:18:29.860 thanksgiving i want to read you all something that uh tyler who works here at uh the blaze wrote me

01:18:36.960 last night because you know and he wrote this to me for me to present as my own ideas but this guy's so

01:18:44.640 smart let's not overstate it here with tyler come on he's smart uh anyway he opened my mind to you

01:18:53.400 know things that i talked about yesterday and his reaction to him and how he took some of the things

01:18:59.300 i was saying just to another level of opening my mind and so one of the things he wrote me last night

01:19:05.720 in a uh over email was to believers the bible is god's word it provides the operating system needed to

01:19:13.840 live a joyful and worthy life and the path to eternal salvation but you don't have to go that

01:19:20.040 far to understand its profound and practical value in the here and now at the very least the bible

01:19:27.240 contains the collective wisdom of mankind thousands of years of wisdom from our ancestors how insane is it

01:19:36.680 that we just dismiss it dismiss it as foolishness no wonder we're so lost the religion of the woke is

01:19:43.760 a cheap substitute for the real thing it provides its adherence with something to struggle for 0.62

01:19:48.860 and an enemy to fight against but it's counterfeit christians understand that the real battlefield is

01:19:54.760 within the heart of the individual the collective wisdom of mankind that is what really struck me

01:20:04.740 yesterday when he said this to me in in my dressing room is that we are dissing dismissing the collective

01:20:14.180 wisdom of mankind older people just aren't respected anymore we look at martin luther king and that 1.00

01:20:24.120 generation like they were a group of idiots who we can easily dismiss and that their way of doing 1.00

01:20:31.200 thinking this is what you mentioned the uh hindi or who's what's the guy ibram kendi ibram kendi and and i 1.00

01:20:39.660 keep hearing his name tossed around and i read some of the stupid things he's right but to me the real

01:20:45.100 architect of this new philosophy that's guiding young people it's ta-nehisi coates and he did this 0.66

01:20:54.460 vicious attack on respectability politics and and and it's just because and this is where i give the

01:21:03.360 left credit they come up with these words and they put them into the or phrases or turn and they put

01:21:09.000 them into the zeitgeist they put them into culture and and the next thing you know martin luther king and

01:21:16.020 these guys in suits and demanding respect and presenting themselves in a respectful way that's

01:21:26.260 all demonized and now it's like oh that's respectability politics you're giving people

01:21:32.400 respect we're just taking it or we're just you know and i go what so disrespectful politics is going to

01:21:39.560 work and it's like there was so much wisdom guiding martin luther king medgar evers rosa parks that

01:21:49.000 generation of american humanity both black and white all taken from their faith the collective wisdom of

01:21:59.300 mankind found in the bible is what drove them and drove the progress that we've experienced here in

01:22:06.960 america that same collective wisdom is what drove us out of slavery and they've demonized it and called

01:22:16.700 respectability politics and and we don't have to be respectful anymore and anybody that tries to

01:22:24.320 create progress in a respectful way is dismissed and a sellout and an uncle tom and everything that mlk and

01:22:34.020 that generation stood for is nothing is worthless they're cowards and sellouts and if i had been

01:22:40.720 there i would have done this and that and you wouldn't have done none of it because you don't have the

01:22:46.080 courage provided by an understanding of the power and the mercy of jesus christ that's why they risked their

01:22:55.660 lives to improve this country and that's why you risk nothing but a tweet and a hashtag and you think you're

01:26:37.100 all right listen the show for the last day and a half uh has been very serious for the most part

01:26:45.040 those of you that are familiar with my work and familiar with me you know i like to have fun as well

01:26:52.060 and so i'm gonna try to mix the two a little bit serious but a little bit fun uh shannon sharp the hall 0.95

01:27:00.340 of fame uh nfl tight end uh won superbowls with the broncos and the ravens and has been working in

01:27:07.340 television since the end of his career and now works at where i used to work uh we were once co-workers

01:27:14.080 together at fox sports one he's now there he does a show with skip bayless and cowboys head coach mike

01:27:20.180 mccarthy uh in an attempt to fire up his team before playing the minnesota vikings uh used the

01:27:28.720 the comedian gallagher and some of you may be too young to remember the comedian gallagher but

01:27:34.040 he used to do he had a visual form of comedy where he would smash things with a sledgehammer

01:27:39.760 and he was known for smashing watermelons and and i went back just to check my memory yesterday and

01:27:46.240 watch some of this online and you know big crowds laughing hysterically and i would look like well

01:27:51.500 that's not that funny why did we laugh at that back then but it was very popular mike mccarthy

01:27:57.080 is around the same age as me and i've known mike mccarthy since the early 1990s when he became an

01:28:06.100 assistant coach with the kansas city chiefs and i used to ridicule mike mccarthy he was a former

01:28:11.440 baker university tight end he became the quarterbacks coach of the chiefs when joe montana

01:28:16.080 was there and steve bono uh he was the offensive coordinator was a guy named paul hackett i got a

01:28:21.320 long history with mike mccarthy he won a super bowl with the green bay packers and aaron rogers

01:28:25.700 i've known mike mccarthy for a long time he smashed some watermelons and his team enjoyed it the dallas

01:28:34.640 cowboys saturday night before the game he used this sledgehammer to drive home the point about what

01:28:40.120 we're going to do to the vikings and the last one was a watermelon and it was uh it represented dalvin

01:28:46.400 cook the running back for the vikings who's one of the best players in football and a defensive lineman

01:28:50.740 a black defensive lineman from the cowboys got up like no i'm gonna slap i'm gonna smash that one 1.00

01:28:55.040 coach and he smashed it the cowboys enjoyed it they go out and basically play their best game of the 0.60

01:29:01.280 season the next day against the vikings and win and they have a little hope but here's how shannon sharp

01:29:07.740 and and here's how he reacted to the i think it was the nfl network who reported what mike mccarthy

01:29:15.420 did the day before the team to inspire his team here's how shannon sharp reacted yes you're white

01:29:20.140 america anytime you have black people in your presence watermelon has a negative connotation yep 0.97

01:29:26.400 let it go let it go things that were acceptable many many years ago even though it wasn't acceptable it 0.96

01:29:33.360 was tolerated it's unacceptable it will not be tolerated find another tool another mechanism

01:29:39.440 to make to motivate your players black players if you need somebody a white man smashing watermelon 0.61

01:29:46.200 to get you motivated you're in the wrong line of business it's not funny it's not cute 0.94

01:29:51.620 i've been up i don't get these young guys anymore i really don't

01:29:57.040 because there ain't no way in hell mike shanahan dan reese way phillips any of my coaches could have

01:30:02.160 ever brought a watermelon and what and you think that's cool and he bragged about it hey we're gonna

01:30:10.000 keep this on the hush he openly talking about it he did first of all when i saw the water black coach

01:30:15.680 what you doing with that if you ain't going to a picnic if you ain't going to a cookout or barbecue

01:30:21.760 man you better not have no watermelons coming up in there talking about we smashing this 0.80

01:30:24.960 i don't know what mike mccarthy was thinking and i don't know what those black players in the

01:30:30.000 locker room was thinking allow him to do that agreed i'm not sure what shannon sharp is thinking 0.52

01:30:37.120 i i anytime a watermelon is in the presence of white people and black people it's offensive 0.97

01:30:50.080 let's don't go to the grocery store together there may be a watermelon and there may be

01:30:54.640 black and white people in the grocery store at the same time who who lives this way constantly 0.98

01:31:02.320 looking for something to be offended by the dallas cowboys like most of the nfl 70 probably black 0.98

01:31:10.560 players on that roster demarcus lawrence a defensive lineman gets up smashes a watermelon too 0.69

01:31:16.240 it didn't mean a damn thing to them because they're not thinking of how can i be controversial on tv and

01:31:25.600 how can i accuse a white person of being racist that that's not a common thought for most people

01:31:36.640 they don't spend their day although they're trying to program us to to spend the entire day looking for

01:31:43.440 how we're offended and i'm just sorry god created the watermelon 0.79

01:31:52.720 not white people

01:31:55.760 and i know there are a lot of black people and shannon sharp may be one of them who think white

01:32:00.800 people particularly white liberals are god but they're not let me break the news to you

01:32:06.800 a watermelon is just a piece of fruit a healthy piece of fruit by the way it's from the earth

01:32:14.480 there's nothing demonic about it and yes i'm aware that there was a time when it was used as a slur for

01:32:22.720 black people but again as i told you earlier in the show other people don't control my emotions

01:32:31.120 and so the sight of a watermelon and and and mike mccarthy smashing it i'm just sorry 0.63

01:32:41.520 it's not some painful reminder of racism it's a painful reminder when we all used to laugh at gallagher

01:32:49.040 that's all it is i i can't i i help me out here stew i don't want to drag you into trouble but no

01:33:03.120 i just don't get it well i have a moral opposition of saying something positive about the dallas cowboys

01:33:08.160 so i won't go down uh that road but it does seem like you know you you you hit on this and it's i

01:33:13.600 think it's an important thing to to revisit it seems like shannon sharp is trying to convince

01:33:20.400 the dallas cowboy players that they should feel racism when they didn't feel it when they saw their

01:33:27.360 coach who they like doing something to motivate them he says no you're wrong to have that connection

01:33:35.200 with your coach and instead you should see him doing the most evil thing any of us can picture

01:33:41.520 being this vicious racist in front of his players when when you have to convince someone

01:33:48.640 that racism exists and they are the victim of it well maybe it doesn't exist maybe you're

01:33:55.680 just coming up with something uh that isn't there and you know it's it's tough because we get into this

01:34:03.760 world where we just are on this constant search for outreach this constant search and i swear

01:34:10.640 this goes deeply into what you've talked about the last couple of days we are so desperate to find

01:34:16.160 this connection to something real we're all looking to be to be moved and to feel something when you

01:34:22.720 know the connection to faith used to be what you know that used to be what that was you were motivated

01:34:28.000 by your faith you were motivated by those you know values that we've had for a long time instead

01:34:34.400 now we're on this constant search because we're empty inside we're empty we're protecting

01:34:40.400 our religion of blackness and so if mike mccarthy had stood before his team

01:34:49.280 and said very negative things about jesus christ and people of faith

01:34:53.680 shannon sharp would have virtually no reaction because our faith isn't our what we've just

01:35:03.120 disregarded that faith you can almost you can say anything about christians you can say anything

01:35:09.040 negative whatever no one's gonna have a reaction but someone smashing a watermelon and potentially

01:35:18.400 potentially offending your blackness i can milk 15 minutes of tv and some clicks and some uh social

01:35:27.760 media follows out of that i can i can bet and again this is what's so unchristian about it and what

01:35:34.080 are just so impolite and just so morally bankrupt about it again i'm telling i know mike mccarthy and 0.54

01:35:43.600 have known him for more than 20 years this man does something innocent with no malice no intent it's not 0.83

01:35:53.440 received that way by his players but shannon sharp is gonna smear this man as a racist to get through five

01:36:02.480 five minutes to tv now i'm saying mike mccarthy i've known him i've been a critic of him as a football

01:36:10.560 coach but there is not a shred of evidence that he's racist and we just willy-nilly throwing that tag on

01:36:18.640 him to get through a television segment is repulsive to me and particularly i've known shannon sharp just as

01:36:27.280 long and i know it's a gimmick i know he doesn't believe it i could and i might i might not be able to

01:36:38.720 bite my tongue and not it's a gimmick i've i've written about this black public figures

01:36:48.400 who are married to or have a heavy attraction towards white people white women go out of their way 1.00

01:36:59.360 to prove how black and down they are and they search for ways to be angry at white people in america to 0.89

01:37:07.920 cover up the fact that i'm married to a white woman and i don't feel good about it i got kids by white 0.98

01:37:16.080 white women and i don't feel good about it i would never date a black woman and i don't feel good 1.00

01:37:21.200 about it so let me do these things to cover that up those are the facts i know uh an nfl hall of fame 0.95

01:37:34.160 tight end who used to say if you ever see a black woman on my elbow i'm holding her for the police

01:37:42.240 that was his running joke he's a hall of fame tight end who happened to play for the broncos and the

01:37:49.120 ravens guess who he might be known him for years but we're gonna smear mike mccarthy

01:37:59.520 so you can cover up your guilty conscience because of what you like and prefer i'm sick and tired of it

01:38:10.160 mike mccarthy doesn't deserve that

01:38:15.760 it's morally bankrupt

01:38:20.800 i'm glenn i'm not glenn beck i'm jason whitlock you're listening to glenn beck program we'll be

01:39:34.320 welcome back to the glenn beck program i'm jason woodlock sitting there for glenn beck i want to

01:39:49.760 pick up where i left off go go read my columns i've written about this for outkick uh i i think one

01:39:58.000 of them was called mixed messages and it was about if you go look at colin kaepernick

01:40:04.320 um and his girlfriend nessa not black egyptian uh kenny steels nfl wide receiver loves to take a knee

01:40:20.240 he's half black half white just like colin kaepernick go look at his girlfriend white 0.50

01:40:26.080 um there's a whole little list of them and i i need to call up the column because i i've written

01:40:33.040 about this uh mixed race kids and or black men involved in relationships with white women

01:40:43.520 these are the most outspoken people on this race stuff they love to go out and smear white people as

01:40:50.560 racist as a way to cover up for their feelings how they feel about being mixed race and maybe some

01:41:00.240 confusion there or how they feel about dating a white woman or someone outside their race because

01:41:04.880 that's not your feelings you don't have a problem with a black person dating a white person no because

01:41:09.440 i'm guilty as charged i've done it and so and i've been very crystal clear about that you know

01:41:14.720 i'll i'll date anything under the rainbow and have uh and got no mixed race kid i got no problem with

01:41:25.200 any of that but there are some people all of us have identity issues all as young people we all work

01:41:36.480 through who are we trying to figure it out in america the race thing is so complicated and the media makes

01:41:43.040 it more complicated that for mixed race kids their identity issues last a little bit longer than other

01:41:52.400 kids that aren't mixed race and and i say that with no negativity none but it's just factual and that's

01:41:59.840 what we've been seeing from colin kaepernick who was abandoned by his biological parents he never knew

01:42:07.920 his uh black father his mother gave him up for adoption a white family raised him colin kaepernick

01:42:16.160 has been trying to figure out his identity this entire time that's all he's been doing

01:42:25.920 and a lot of these people from jussie smollet to uh why can't there was a running back out of oklahoma

01:42:36.240 state that went after mike gundy chubb howard or hubbard or something like that he's from canada

01:42:42.000 mixed race and again i understand their struggle and i understand the pressure that social media

01:42:48.640 and this society puts on them to live up to their blackness and again i talked about this yesterday

01:42:54.240 the unapologetically black olympics that goes on every day and that's what we saw yesterday from 0.86

01:43:03.360 shannon sharp he's reaching for that gold medal in the unapologetically black olympics

01:43:10.240 and he's got to come from behind because he's carrying so much baggage again the only reason

01:43:16.080 why i'm saying this is this man attacks and smears mike mccarthy for doing something that a comedian has

01:43:24.000 done for years on tv or did for years on tv the football team for the dallas cowboys accepted it

01:43:31.600 and enjoyed it and responded to it and here's some outsider trying to get through five minutes

01:43:39.040 of tv and says you know what i'm going to assassinate mike mccarthy's character so i can get through this

01:43:45.120 television segment i'm gonna smear him with with the stain of being a racist and having done something 0.55

01:43:51.120 racist and there's absolutely no proof of it none and you do it to get through a television segment

01:44:00.240 or to make yourself feel better about the decisions you made again it's all a sham it's all fake it's all bs

01:44:10.560 the dude gets on t they got segments of shannon sharp we're criticizing mike mccarthy about a watermelon

01:44:22.640 shannon sharp goes on tv with a do-rag a blunt in his mouth some hennessy and starts talking all that 0.57

01:44:30.560 bull job i'm just blah blah blah he does a whole minstrel routine 0.95

01:44:40.560 but this man smashing watermelons that's racist 0.90

01:44:46.880 we got to do better than this and this is why i and i've known shannon sharp for a long time

01:44:52.160 and i'm just like he's he's irritated me he's done something completely irresponsible and despicable

01:45:01.680 and i don't have a problem calling him out on it

01:45:05.920 all right i'm jason whitlock this is the gillenbeck program

01:45:22.160 this is the glenbeck program

01:45:28.160 not all holiday presents and goodies get delivered in sleighs and not all holiday presents and goodies

01:46:31.920 welcome back to the glenbeck program jason whitlock we're in the final 26 minutes of my

01:46:38.960 uh filling in for glenbeck uh i want to make some final points on my last topic and then in the final

01:46:44.560 segment i i'm gonna try to wrap up what we've tried to talk about here in the past two days but

01:46:50.640 someone just tweeted at me and and about the comments i made about shannon sharp and other uh black public

01:46:58.560 figures uh that are on air and using their platforms to participate in the unapologetically black olympics 0.86

01:47:08.800 and and shannon sharp did that yesterday to mike mccarthy basically insinuated he did something 0.93

01:47:14.560 racist by smashing watermelons in front of his team his team responded positively to it but here 0.97

01:47:20.240 was shannon sharp to wag his finger and say what mike mccarthy did was racist and how dare those black 0.87

01:47:25.680 players enjoy that and he doesn't understand it and and and uh mike shatterhead and dad reese they would

01:47:32.480 have never done that if i was there i would have never tolerated that and it's all bs and and i've

01:47:41.520 written about it and i keep talking about it and i have zero problem with interracial dating zero i have

01:47:48.720 less than zero i have negative 10 problem you know i have no problem with i would be a hypocrite if i did

01:47:56.640 but what bothers me is the people that do it and then do these things over social media or on their

01:48:05.440 media platforms to try to prove how black they are because they don't feel real good or they don't 0.96

01:48:13.120 want to deal with the heat that comes over social media because twitter is one of the most racist places 0.98

01:48:20.320 on earth and and these black public figures that uh date outside their race or marry outside their race 0.76

01:48:28.960 they catch all kinds of heat over social media about their dating preference and then so they go on tv

01:48:35.840 and try to be malcolm x but betty shabazz is nowhere to be found becky shabazz is there but betty shabazz 0.93

01:48:46.160 is nowhere to be found

01:48:47.840 and that's what and someone just pointed out to me over twitter van jones at cnn

01:48:57.280 he's got him a becky shabazz he likes to go on tv and talk trump it's a white lash see how black i am 0.61

01:49:06.240 don't mind becky over there i'm down for the calls

01:49:11.280 on twitter on this media platform but when i go home i don't talk this way

01:49:21.200 because becky doesn't allow it 0.98

01:49:26.400 this hypocrisy and just using people and smearing their character

01:49:33.040 i'm just sorry mike mccarthy does not deserve that

01:49:36.880 let his own players handle that why are you trying to inspire his players to do something

01:49:46.960 they don't believe

01:49:52.960 there's a game people aren't being honest and that's what drives me crazy about the mainstream media

01:50:01.920 that's what drives me crazy about social media people are lying and putting on a front

01:50:08.320 the whole black lives matter thing it's a beard 0.97

01:50:15.520 it's a beard colin kaepernick has been using for four or five years now see how black i am don't mind nessa

01:50:23.520 see how black i am yes i know i was raised by a white family and thank god they saved me

01:50:32.320 but really i'm baby malcolm x no you're not you're hustling for nike and china

01:50:44.320 and so you know i'm going to transition because i want to leave shannon sharp and those guys alone

01:50:50.240 because i i really need and a couple of hours to fully unpack that so because people are going to

01:50:56.080 twist my words here but that's why i'm glad i wrote the columns because i'll stand on the columns i wrote

01:51:01.600 you can go find them at outkick i'll stand on those columns i wrote they're all factual and true

01:51:07.440 you know what's crazy is there isn't a black athlete that i know or have met that doesn't

01:51:15.840 talk about the things that i'm talking about privately

01:51:20.240 i could sit here and rattle off names of hall of famers of high profile athletes that all

01:51:27.120 know exactly what i'm talking about and know the truth of it and privately say the exact same things

01:51:34.080 that i'm saying but the me twitter is a stage these tv shows are staged what do people do on stages

01:51:44.720 they perform they're inauthentic and again that's what i love about independent media

01:51:51.840 there is a lot less of of a performance people can be real and be their honest they don't have these

01:51:58.080 corporate sponsors they don't have these executives that are scared to death of twitter

01:52:04.320 you can actually be yourself and so what you've heard from me over the last six months since i left

01:52:11.120 fox sports and again i love my time at fox sports there's some executives over there that i absolutely

01:52:16.400 love and i'm appreciative of but i am so much happier being free of the corporate pressure

01:52:25.600 to conform and to give into group thing and to race bait and to just use people mike mccarthy's being

01:52:34.080 used that was not racism that was a coach imitating gallagher and having some fun and inspiring his

01:52:43.200 team and we keep diminishing real racism and this is going to help me transition into the final segment

01:52:49.360 of the show about what i've tried to do here the last two days because it will all be distorted and

01:52:57.040 lied about and all we're like he went on that show and he just told conservatives everything they

01:53:03.040 wanted to hear he made him feel comfortable with their racism and where i started the show today

01:53:10.800 was with the truth anybody that listened to this show knows i've been said oh no there's racism

01:53:18.400 here in america the culprits are just different than what you're being told

01:53:25.120 again it's no different and i tell i tell my family this all the time

01:53:29.520 if the mainstream media is all telling you the same thing believe the opposite

01:53:39.360 the opposite is the actual truth if all the mainstream media reported today that jason whitlock weighs 195

01:53:47.920 pounds you better believe i'm closer to 395

01:53:52.000 that's what the mainstream media all agrees on lies and so what they have agreed on and they tell

01:54:01.520 every day oh conservative christians they're racist

01:54:07.920 trust me it's the opposite and that's what i've been arguing that people that are liberal are the 0.91

01:54:18.960 ideological descendants of slave owners people who don't submit to a higher power in my opinion

01:54:29.360 are more susceptible to giving into their racial biases

01:54:37.840 people who don't submit to a higher power are more susceptible to giving into their racial biases

01:54:46.240 we all have biases some of us are smart enough to submit to a higher power and try to work on our biases

01:55:00.480 and we a lot of us do it through our faith that eliminates makes race a lot less relevant and

01:55:07.920 important we start looking and trying to identify what's in a person's soul what's in their character

01:55:16.240 faith in god belief in a higher power and understanding of the wisdom taught in the bible helps us move

01:55:28.480 beyond our biases

01:55:34.240 so

01:55:34.480 i the message i've been giving for the past two days is

01:55:41.280 in order to heal america those of us of faith we got to lean into each other

01:55:49.920 continue to work on ourselves where our beliefs on our sleeve not in a condescending way but let's

01:55:56.880 not be ashamed of let's don't be bullied into oh you're not perfect you still commit sin oh jason i

01:56:03.840 saw you someone pointed out to today over twitter jason talking about his christian beliefs and and

01:56:09.120 he was joking with a porn star on twitter yesterday yes i was brandy love is a human being she tweeted

01:56:17.680 at me and i tweeted back jokes with her i am not ashamed of that she is a human being regardless of her

01:56:24.960 profession

01:56:30.640 not ashamed i am a christian i am flawed and again i'm not trying to get in brandy loves pants she's

01:56:36.640 married it was some jokes over twitter i'm allowed to joke and be a human being there are no human

01:56:42.640 beings that i say are beyond the pale of me communicating and interacting with go read

01:56:48.320 your bible and see who jesus interacted with

01:56:56.000 but don't be ashamed of your faith don't be ashamed that you're a sinner don't be afraid to

01:57:03.200 let people know what you stand on

01:57:08.480 the other side is doing it and they're wearing little beards oh i'm a liberal you can't call

01:57:14.000 me racist oh i'm on tv and i called mike mccarthy racist so therefore i'm black 0.92

01:57:22.800 i've won the unapologetically black olympics i've smeared a white man unfairly see how black i am 0.92

01:57:29.200 it's so obvious to any adult what these people are hiding and what they are doing

01:57:40.000 all right we got one more segment

01:57:44.560 i'm almost out of energy this is hard this is this is i love it it's hard though my voice was a little

01:57:50.880 touched yesterday all right i'm jason whitlock this is glenn beck program

01:58:40.560 all right welcome back to the final segment of the show jason whitlock sitting in for glenn beck

01:58:47.840 uh i've sent uncle jimmy home uh it got a little too hot up in here uh in this last hour and so he's

01:58:55.840 on his way back to los angeles uh put him on a chopper out of here i want to end on a more serious note and

01:59:03.360 just try to uh thank glenn uh for the opportunity to speak to his audience and i i want to leave

01:59:11.520 uh his audience with this message here's what i believe the mainstream media uh the silicon valley

01:59:20.640 social media apps uh the hollywood elites what the liberals are trying to do

01:59:28.400 that they want those of you that have faith or have conservative values they want you to give up

01:59:39.120 they want you to give in to your worst biases and feelings and they want anger to take control of you

01:59:49.200 because when we're angry we make bad decisions and as i said in the last segment we all have biases

01:59:57.920 all of us liberalism isn't a cure for biases it's actually a beard it's actually steroids for biases

02:00:06.400 because it it gives you the ability to run around and pretend like you don't have anything

02:00:12.080 you're asymptomatic

02:00:15.440 and so those of us of faith those of us that through our upbringing either in sports or through the church

02:00:26.400 have conservative values or maybe it's through politics you have conservative values

02:00:32.160 don't give up don't give in don't and again because i know the temptation you look at the

02:00:38.640 things that are going on and you say the other side is promoting and celebrating racism and so your

02:00:49.120 instinctive reaction is like man i better lean in on the other side

02:00:54.720 i i i i if they're going to be racist i might as well be racist that's what they want you to think

02:01:04.400 they want you to forget about the higher power that sits in judgment of all of us

02:01:13.280 they want you to abandon the teachings that you learned in the church the teachings you learn

02:01:21.280 from martin luther king's life

02:01:23.520 the life

02:01:24.160 the life of jesus christ they want you to abandon all of that and be like them

02:01:33.120 they're racist they want you to join them

02:01:38.720 don't do it

02:01:41.360 that's the commitment that i want from you all after these two days

02:01:48.880 that's the energy i felt a week ago when i met glenn beck glenn beck's on the same

02:01:58.480 journey as me he loves this country he wants us to live together in harmony racial harmony

02:02:05.920 that's what these two days were about we can change the world and move it back

02:02:16.560 in a positive direction if we stick to our core values if we stick to the things our parents our

02:02:26.000 grandparents our pastors our founding fathers even though they were flawed they planted seeds

02:02:35.440 in us that prepared us for this time so that we would survive and prevail don't give up we

02:02:47.760 are on the right side of not just history we are on the right side of right we're right right now

02:02:58.240 all right i'm jason whitlock i've enjoyed the past two days i'll see you next time

02:03:05.440 this is the glenn beck program
