00:01:36.760 Trust you had a Merry Christmas.

00:01:49.440 My name is Mike Broomhead in for Glenn Beck the rest of this week.

00:01:51.960 Happy New Year as we approach the new year.

00:01:54.480 Some things seem to not change.

00:01:56.400 Over the Christmas holiday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement dropped off about 124 people at a Greyhound bus station in El Paso, Texas, with no notification of the community.

00:02:07.120 They say they should have notified them.

00:02:08.840 There was really no place for any of those people to stay.

00:02:11.120 Another 200 to be dropped off additionally after that.

00:02:14.180 This is the fallout from the current laws in America.

00:02:17.740 And this is why this is such a sad state of affairs.

00:02:21.220 Again, if you've heard my show or heard me in for Glenn before, I live in Phoenix, Arizona.

00:02:26.400 I've been there for almost 24 years, grew up in Southwest Florida, and transplanted to Arizona, which I absolutely love.

00:02:34.540 But Arizona being a border state, we deal with these unique issues as well.

00:02:38.200 A few weeks ago in the city of Phoenix, they were notified, the Phoenix Police Department was notified, that the same thing was happening.

00:02:44.780 And they, at the time, gave no number.

00:02:46.580 They said a number of people, without giving specifics, a number of people were going to be just dropped off in Phoenix, Arizona.

00:02:54.540 Many of them wearing monitoring devices or ankle bracelets.

00:02:58.620 The Immigration and Customs Enforcement is so overwhelmed with people seeking asylum right now.

00:03:04.240 And the laws are such that they have to be processed in a timely fashion.

00:03:08.340 I believe it's 20 days.

00:03:09.640 If they're not processed, we are in violation of the law.

00:03:12.500 So they are giving an arraignment, so to speak, and then a hearing date about the legitimacy of their claim for asylum.

00:03:20.200 So people are being given monitoring devices, and then they are just being released into the streets of America with dates for their hearings, sometimes two years down the road.

00:03:31.860 In the meantime, we know what's going to happen.

00:03:34.240 And we'll, that's, just give me a minute for that.

00:03:36.920 But this is what's happened in the city where I live.

00:03:41.040 Hundreds of immigrants dropped off seeking asylum, dropped off wearing monitoring devices.

00:03:46.200 The Phoenix Police Department was notified and told, these people have not necessarily committed any crime.

00:03:52.600 Normally, when a law enforcement officer comes in contact with someone wearing a monitoring device, they are going to ask them certain questions.

00:03:59.600 They are either released as a part of probation or parole, or they're being released, you know, waiting for some other sentencing or something else.

00:04:07.520 But it usually shows that they are being monitored as a part of a sentence.

00:04:10.660 They question them, most of them, if they are on probation, you have, you can stop them and question them as to what they're doing.

00:04:17.520 Are they, is this a time of day when they are supposed to be out, or are they supposed to be confined to their homes?

00:04:22.640 That's what that monitoring device normally indicates to a law enforcement agency.

00:04:27.100 So not only was the police department in my hometown notified that most of these people haven't committed any crime whatsoever.

00:04:33.520 Now the police are charged with trying to figure out, is this someone that's just on a hold or on a release from custody of ICE, or is this someone that's a criminal that is living out a sentence outside of the walls of jail or prison?

00:04:47.240 And it adds one more layer of difficulty to the job of police officers.

00:04:51.260 They also were notified, again, don't forget, that you're not supposed to interact and do the job of the federal immigration enforcement.

00:05:00.620 And there are certain rules that you have to live by as a city police officer versus a federal employee, which again, a little side note, is the odd, is the strangest thing to me.

00:05:12.300 Anyway, every other federal enforcement agency that I know of works hand in hand with local law enforcement all the time.

00:05:22.680 DEA, drug enforcement, does task forces and does sting operations and enlists the help of local law enforcement all the time.

00:05:35.000 There's never a controversy in the U.S. when the DEA partners up with a local law enforcement agency, whether it's a city agency or a sheriff's department, to do drug interdiction.

00:05:46.980 They use them all the time for the help of manpower, for surveillance, for intelligence work.

00:05:52.900 Happens all the time.

00:05:54.860 Alcohol, tobacco and firearms, same thing.

00:05:57.960 The U.S. Marshal Service.

00:05:59.380 Recently in Arizona, we had a U.S. Marshal, first time in decades, killed in the line of duty down in Tucson, Arizona.

00:06:06.960 And then there was a shooting right before Christmas where a violent offender task force for the Marshal Service had to kill a suspect, shot and killed a suspect in a shootout.

00:06:19.460 Those happened just a week or so apart.

00:06:22.400 But the U.S. Marshal Service enlists the help of local law enforcement in apprehending suspects all the time.

00:06:29.380 By the way, if you're on the list of people that are being chased by the Marshal Service, you might as well give up because that is an agency that does a phenomenal job at chasing down fugitives.

00:06:42.500 But there's not another federal law enforcement agency that I know of that doesn't enlist the help and work hand in hand with local law enforcement.

00:06:49.920 Every FBI bureau in every state in this country has a JTTF or Joint Terrorism Task Force.

00:07:01.600 They work hand in hand with the state police, local city agencies and the sheriff's department across the state where the JTTF is located in every field office that the FBI has.

00:07:14.700 No questions asked.

00:07:17.340 They work hand in hand.

00:07:19.740 Less than 20 years ago in the where I'm where I live now, the city of Phoenix Police Department, the Border Patrol used to monitor the city of Phoenix Police Department radios channel.

00:07:30.480 And if there was a need for an interpreter, a Spanish speaker, or if a police officer came in contact with someone that they thought might be in the country illegally, they simply got on their radio because Border Patrol used to monitor that channel.

00:07:45.820 And Border Patrol would show up and either interpret if necessary or take someone into custody if necessary.

00:07:51.260 Now, all of a sudden, it's the one federal law enforcement agency that local law enforcement is forbidden from working with.

00:08:00.740 It's insane.

00:08:03.580 But this is the state of American politics.

00:08:08.300 So the president says we aren't going to open the government until we get some kind of a wall.

00:08:15.440 Now, for whatever reason, the Democrats are, well, we know the reason, the political reasons behind not giving the president a victory on this.

00:08:25.660 The absurdity of all of this.

00:08:28.840 Is that everyone agrees the system is broken.

00:08:33.260 Everyone agrees the system is broken.

00:08:36.400 So now you have hundreds of people being dropped off in El Paso, Texas.

00:08:40.100 It's already happened in Phoenix, Arizona.

00:08:42.340 It's happened in cities all over the country.

00:08:44.800 These people have nowhere to go.

00:08:47.860 They haven't their housing is not going to be provided for any of them.

00:08:50.720 They are basically on the streets.

00:08:53.600 So you are going to see in a city like Phoenix, a couple of hundred people can be absorbed by local charitable organizations that can take people in and give them some kind of of housing or some kind of refuge until something else can be done for them.

00:09:08.640 El Paso, I don't know if they have what, you know, if they have the availability of doing that.

00:09:16.860 But you are just have people because the system is overwhelmed.

00:09:19.460 This revolving door of what's happening because the laws have not been changed are just cranking people out through the system, giving them a hearing, giving them an arraignment, so to speak, and then sending them out.

00:09:32.560 And while we watch the two political sides of this argument, fight it out, the reality is there are communities now being very severely hindered as far as their ability to give charity in helping people.

00:09:54.720 It really is a shame that it's come to this, but there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

00:10:03.280 You look at what's going on politically with the left and their 180 degree shift on illegal immigration.

00:10:12.080 And you have to wonder where the politics ends.

00:10:18.260 Because to be honest with you, there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

00:10:21.940 There is a humanitarian aspect to all of this.

00:10:24.840 And to be very fair, the people like myself who are saying there's a rule of law we must abide, and I believe that, that that's a part of the problem here is that people are doing things the wrong way.

00:10:36.360 We also on our side of the political aisle should be admitting that there are real people being put in the middle of this.

00:10:43.220 There are people being told in Central America, it's very simple.

00:10:46.580 You just come to the border of the United States, you file for asylum, they let you in. 1.00

00:10:50.240 There's work, it's the land of milk and honey, and you just go to work and you're going to be just fine.

00:10:56.440 Many of the people in the caravans at Tijuana are finding out that it's not as easy to get into the U.S. as they thought.

00:11:03.060 They were told something that's not true.

00:11:05.260 There are people, real people in real life situations caught in the middle of all of this. 0.81

00:11:14.160 But the argument from the people on the opposite side of this, the ones that don't feel as if there's any rule of law that needs to be abided by, are being hypocrites in all of this.

00:11:23.660 In a moment, I want you to hear, there's a guy named Raul Reyes, he's an attorney, he's a journalist, he's been on every network there is.

00:11:33.020 He used to host a show on MSNBC, and he is an advocate for illegal crossers. 1.00

00:11:38.920 There's no other way of putting it.

00:11:40.800 Reyes gives such an odd defense for such a brilliant man that graduated from Harvard and from Columbia Law School.

00:11:47.320 The defense he gives of not wanting any kind of a physical barrier is absurd.

00:11:53.980 Coming up in a moment, I want you to hear what Raul Reyes says, and we're going to discuss the Christmas message from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saying, remember, Jesus was a refugee.

00:12:04.780 All of that happens here in just a couple of moments.

00:12:06.600 My name is Mike Broomhead, and this is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:12:10.740 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:13:37.660 Looking forward to a great New Year.

00:13:39.040 My name is Mike Broomhead.

00:13:39.980 In for Glenn Beck the rest of this week.

00:13:41.440 If you're a social media user, I am on Twitter, at Broomhead Show.

00:13:44.860 Interesting, I got a tweet from a guy named Mike Broomhead in the UK that's sick of getting my tweets.

00:13:49.500 So it's at Broomhead Show if you'd like to find me on Twitter.

00:13:53.200 Instagram, it's all one word, just Mike Broomhead.

00:13:55.680 And then on Facebook, it's the Mike Broomhead Show fan page.

00:13:58.480 If you'd like to reach out and find out more about my show locally in Phoenix, Arizona.

00:14:02.120 I want you to hear Raul Reyes.

00:14:07.020 As I said, he's an attorney.

00:14:08.780 He is someone that's all over the networks.

00:14:11.740 He is an advocate for these asylum seekers.

00:14:14.940 And it doesn't call them lawbreakers.

00:14:16.960 For a guy that's a lawyer, I understand people's circumstances, but we don't allow people to do the wrong thing.

00:14:22.520 So this is the defense against a barrier, a wall, a fence, whatever you want to call it.

00:14:28.120 This is what Raul Reyes, a brilliant guy by all accounts, this is his defense against a barrier.

00:14:36.340 He was sent home.

00:14:37.480 I do think one other thing, just in terms of the facts as we know them, that should be sort of something that people should think about and possibly even worry about going ahead is right now.

00:14:47.620 I mean, these are isolated incidents and we don't know the circumstances, but right now our U.S. government has a record number of migrant children in their care, 15,000.

00:14:56.820 And, you know, worlds away in Washington, politically, the president keeps talking about the wall and how he wants to build a wall and what it would do.

00:15:03.760 It would likely not prevent tragedies like this because people, the families of Jacqueline Call and these young men and this child, they were coming over the border to present themselves for asylum.

00:15:15.320 So even if the wall were in place, we would still likely see horrific, horrific outcomes like this.

00:15:22.300 So we shouldn't build a barrier because it wouldn't prevent all of the tragic things that happen is the answer.

00:15:30.260 It is the silliest defense I've ever heard.

00:15:36.360 Everything in life is risk and reward. 0.78

00:15:38.860 Why don't people cheat on their taxes?

00:15:41.080 They don't cheat on their taxes because everyone is terrified of the IRS.

00:15:44.600 We've all gotten a letter from the IRS and it's like waiting for test results from a doctor.

00:15:50.060 You set the envelope on the counter.

00:15:52.320 You don't want to open it.

00:15:53.880 You maybe make yourself a drink.

00:15:55.420 You know you have to see what's in there, but no one's looking forward to a letter from the IRS.

00:16:01.280 You don't cheat on your taxes because it's not worth the risk.

00:16:05.660 People don't rob banks because of the minimum sentence for robbing banks.

00:16:10.980 Everything in life is risk and reward.

00:16:13.200 And when you start taking away the reward, the risk isn't worth it.

00:16:19.100 Part of it is the difficulty of crossing the border.

00:16:21.880 The people coming across the border, again, more in this anecdotal evidence as it is, we know that the dreamers have all been categorized as road scholars and the next people that are going to cure cancer.

00:16:39.280 We know that's not true.

00:16:40.360 Are there good people that are dreamers?

00:16:42.920 Absolutely.

00:16:43.580 Do I feel for the plight of the dreamers?

00:16:45.340 Kids that were brought across by their parents.

00:16:47.600 They are really a person without a country. 0.85

00:16:49.740 They don't even remember in many cases the country where they were born, but they're not citizens of the U.S. 0.67

00:16:55.100 Absolutely.

00:16:55.820 I feel for them.

00:16:56.580 But we also know that under the DREAM Act, there are MS-13 gang members and really bad people that fit the criteria to be DREAMers that are hiding behind the DREAM Act.

00:17:06.740 But we are good enough to be able to fix those problems.

00:17:12.780 MS-13 gang members, child sex offenders arrested at the U.S. border.

00:17:19.000 U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two convicted sex offenders and two MS-13 gang members just this week.

00:17:25.920 All of them were previously deported from the U.S.

00:17:28.560 The arrest happened during four separate incidents near the border in Arizona and Texas, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

00:17:38.840 One of the men, a 46-year-old Mexican national, was convicted in 02 of unlawful sexual contact with a minor in Mesa, Arizona.

00:17:46.940 He was apprehended after he illegally entered the U.S. on Wednesday near Lukeville, Arizona.

00:17:53.460 Anecdotal evidence?

00:17:54.560 Absolutely.

00:17:55.160 Does it define everybody that crosses the border?

00:17:58.120 No, it doesn't.

00:17:59.600 But it also shows you how easy it is to continue to come back across the border.

00:18:06.160 This is an argument we shouldn't be having.

00:18:10.700 A Guatemalan boy died in U.S. custody.

00:18:14.400 Another one.

00:18:14.880 This is the second child that's passed, that's died in custody.

00:18:18.060 Tragic.

00:18:18.740 Horrific.

00:18:19.760 We're better than that.

00:18:20.940 As a nation, we're better than that.

00:18:22.480 It's an overwhelmed system that the Congress refuses to do anything about.

00:18:31.940 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted out over Christmas.

00:18:36.500 Merry Christmas, everyone.

00:18:37.540 Here's to a holiday filled with happiness, family, and love for all people, including refugees, babies in mangers, and their parents.

00:18:45.540 A simplistic, quite honestly, asinine view of what's happening at our border right now.

00:18:54.560 You want to tug at the heartstrings with absolutely no basis in fact whatsoever on what's happening at the southern border.

00:19:05.120 You turn this into a political issue, and then you say people on my side of the aisle don't care about humanity.

00:19:11.940 I've been to the border.

00:19:14.100 I've looked at the faces of those kids being brought in.

00:19:16.980 I have pictures of them on my phone still.

00:19:20.240 They remind me of the humanity of what's happening at the border.

00:19:25.520 The rule of law is there for a reason.

00:19:29.620 We can be a humane people, a benevolent people that give refuge to those in need, but we also have to have an orderly system.

00:19:39.300 Things have to be done the right way.

00:19:41.000 For the sake of those trying to cross as well as it is for the citizens of the United States that are being preyed upon.

00:19:48.500 The poorest border is not just about asylum seekers. 0.99

00:19:51.860 That is just a system.

00:19:53.320 That's people abusing the system. 0.92

00:19:55.340 They found a loophole in the system, and they're abusing it, and the Congress refuses to close the loophole.

00:20:01.880 We can still be a nation of refuge for people in need of refuge and still close this loophole so that you don't find adults. 0.96

00:20:11.380 Why do you think that there is an over 400% increase in the number of people posing as families crossing the border?

00:20:18.480 It's because they found a loophole.

00:20:22.840 All we have to do is close the loophole.

00:20:25.380 There is not an acknowledgment from the left that there's a problem, because then they would be charged with fixing the problem.

00:20:33.320 They pretend as if people like you and people like me are heartless, xenophobic isolationists that don't want people crossing our border for any purpose.

00:20:45.500 They call us fear mongers.

00:20:49.560 The statistics speak for themselves.

00:20:51.720 This is a political battle that should not be.

00:20:58.120 It should not be.

00:21:02.440 Spinning off of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's statement and just coming off of the Christmas holiday, spend a few minutes coming up talking about the assault on Christianity around the world.

00:21:16.220 Christians at risk of extinction in the land where Christmas began is one of the headlines.

00:21:20.620 We're going to talk about the assault on that and what one government in the world is now taking issue with the assault on Christianity.

00:22:51.480 Happy New Year. Merry Christmas on the Glenn Beck Program.

00:22:59.600 My name is Mike Berman, and for Glenn all week, or the rest of this week, what's left of it.

00:23:06.400 Headline caught my eye about Christianity being attacked, Christians at risk of extinction.

00:23:10.120 And the reason why you caught my attention is it seems like in America, the attack on Christmas, which we joked about, the war on Christmas, to me is pretty laughable because it's a Christian holiday.

00:23:22.560 But to think about the only groups of people that it is politically correct to attack would be people of faith.

00:23:28.820 But it's only specific people of faith.

00:23:32.480 There is a defense against people.

00:23:35.400 Here in America, if you say radical Islam, you're attacking the entire Muslim faith, which is an absolute falsehood.

00:23:41.100 That's not true at all.

00:23:42.680 You know, Americans are very good because of the diversity in our country with religion, where we are familiar with people of different faiths and of no faith at all in our country.

00:23:51.660 We can differentiate between good and bad in every religion.

00:23:55.020 I said before, I was raised Catholic, and then I attended and taught adult Bible studies at a Baptist church for about 10 years.

00:24:06.880 So my theology is all over the place.

00:24:09.020 But I did teach at a church for over 10 years, and it was at the time was identified as a Baptist church.

00:24:15.180 Well, there's an organization in America called the Westboro Baptist Church, which has no similarities whatsoever to any Baptist church I've ever been to.

00:24:24.600 The fact that they claim to read from the same book that I did shocks me.

00:24:28.760 So I can see how one group of people can misinterpret and steal ideas from and use a religion as an excuse to mete out horrible things, although they weren't murdering anybody.

00:24:39.720 They're just a hateful organization.

00:24:41.400 To be honest, I don't know the Muslim faith, but I can understand there are a billion Muslims in the world, not all of them. 0.77

00:24:50.580 And I would say the vast majority of them are not terrorists, but I can differentiate between radical Islam and someone who is just of the Muslim faith without, you know, insulting the entire religion.

00:25:03.060 It's like saying the Westboro Baptist Church is a horrible organization.

00:25:06.460 I'm not I am not insulting Baptists across the country because I said something about this specific group of people.

00:25:15.840 But there is the British government that is now going to be looking into the assault on people of faith of Christians.

00:25:22.000 And it's fascinating to me how people want to want to cherry pick their ideas.

00:25:29.500 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez now wants to say Jesus was a refugee.

00:25:34.120 And then people on the left to demonize anybody of faith.

00:25:39.220 I'm talking about the far left, the very vocal left demonize anybody of faith.

00:25:44.060 You've got Maisie Hirono and Kamala Harris.

00:25:50.140 Kamala Harris is one of the leading candidates for the Democrats to be president, questioning whether or not a judicial nominee going through the United States Senate could actually be a fair judge because this judge is a member of the Knights of Columbus, which is a Catholic organization.

00:26:06.340 So can people of faith be members of the United States government?

00:26:10.880 Can this specific person be fair?

00:26:14.760 And I'll ask yourself this question, no matter where you are in the political aisle.

00:26:18.820 If this were someone of the Muslim faith, would Kamala Harris dare ask that question?

00:26:24.940 Would she say because of that person's faith, are they able to be a jurist?

00:26:31.280 Go back and look at John Jay, you know, historically in America.

00:26:34.580 This is why we are so poor in American history.

00:26:41.380 We can change course.

00:26:43.240 It's the brilliance of everything in life is a double edged sword.

00:26:46.920 It is a double edged sword that we can change course in America.

00:26:49.780 It's the brilliance of our Constitution.

00:26:51.800 The people through the people we elect as legislators and as president can change course in America.

00:26:57.980 But we should never lose sight of where we've come from.

00:27:00.460 And for anyone to say that our founding fathers were at best deists.

00:27:05.540 And not people of faith and not every single one of them either, but a majority of them has never read George Washington's farewell address.

00:27:15.400 Or when George Washington institute a national day of prayer or Thanksgiving when Thanksgiving was instituted by our government.

00:27:23.720 You've never traveled to Washington, D.C. and seen the overtly faith-based history in our country.

00:27:32.340 To go into the halls of Congress, into the House of Representatives chamber and see the overtly religious landmarks there.

00:27:44.220 All along the walls are profiles of great lawgivers throughout history.

00:27:48.540 But the only one that's full-faced, the only one that's not a profile, is the one dead center of the room looking down on the podium where the House Speaker stands and where the president delivers the State of the Union address is Moses because he was the original lawgiver.

00:28:02.260 It was a tribute by the founding fathers and by the people that built the United States Capitol years later that put that there as a remembrance of where we've come from.

00:28:10.820 There are three kinds of countries when it comes to faith in America.

00:28:13.740 There are theistic nations, which we are.

00:28:16.660 We believe in a creator.

00:28:17.980 There are atheistic nations, which are dark countries, which do not acknowledge a creator. 0.74

00:28:22.400 China, Russia.

00:28:23.680 And there are theocracies like Iran that run through a religious book where the Ayatollahs are the supreme leaders, whether there's a government or not.

00:28:30.720 The supreme leaders rule everything.

00:28:32.660 We are not a theocracy, but we're a theistic nation.

00:28:36.600 We've expressly given the right to people to practice their religion, although that's been completely overrun in the First Amendment.

00:28:43.740 I'm not trying to give a sermon on any level.

00:28:46.520 But for those of you that have a faith, but you don't want to talk about it because you're not supposed to do it in public, you've been duped.

00:28:54.500 The First Amendment protects your right to practice your religion or to not practice a religion.

00:28:59.560 The assault by people saying that people of faith should not be involved in government used to be a very small, vocal and laughed at minority of people.

00:29:08.240 Now you've got Kamala Harris and Mazie Hirono questioning whether a member of the Knights of Columbus can be a federal judge.

00:29:15.600 Now, these are not just unknown people.

00:29:20.020 These are senators.

00:29:22.160 One of them is one of the front runners to be the Democratic candidate for president, questioning whether someone can be a fair judge as a member of the Knights of Columbus.

00:29:32.740 That should scare Democrats as much or more that your party believes that.

00:29:42.540 That there are leaders in your party that believe somehow you are more fair by trying to take people of faith and wipe them out. 0.99

00:29:50.360 And I'm not talking about you don't have to be an evangelical pastor somewhere to be a person of faith.

00:30:01.300 There are people that have a very solid foundational belief in a creator.

00:30:08.640 Those are the people that used to be most influential in government.

00:30:11.860 Now it's questioned whether or not they have a place.

00:30:14.780 They have chased the American people inside the four walls of their churches and said, you can say whatever you want there, but don't you dare leave that building and say those things outside those four walls.

00:30:27.020 And we've fallen for it.

00:30:29.240 We have fallen for it.

00:30:30.920 I'm not a pastor. 0.93

00:30:32.000 There are many times that I am a hypocrite to my faith. 0.57

00:30:35.140 There's no doubt about that.

00:30:37.380 I am not perfect.

00:30:38.400 I'm not better than anyone.

00:30:39.660 But no one will ever shake my faith, nor will anybody ever stop me from saying my faith forms the decisions I make in many cases.

00:30:49.440 That's exactly the way our government was designed.

00:30:54.840 And anyone who tells you differently is you can't win that argument.

00:31:00.080 I am someone who is not an expert and I can win an argument with anyone on that level.

00:31:05.780 And I know there's been a frequent guest and friend of Glenn's wall builders, David Barton.

00:31:14.060 If you've not been to the wall builders website, I don't think there's another person in America that is better than David Barton at explaining the Christian history in America.

00:31:23.040 It's eye opening.

00:31:24.380 That doesn't mean that we are going to turn into a theocracy, nor should we.

00:31:28.540 We should never advocate for one faith over another.

00:31:31.320 That's the brilliance of our of our country.

00:31:33.480 But when you've got Great Britain now looking at the assault on Christians simply because they're Christians and asking the question, should we be doing something about this?

00:31:43.140 You know, we have hate crimes here in America.

00:31:45.120 And if you you commit a crime against someone based on their sexual orientation or color of their skin, there is a harsher punishment for you because you have you have committed what we call a hate crime, which is such a an oxymoron to me.

00:31:59.180 If you beat somebody over the head with a baseball bat, that's a hate crime.

00:32:03.560 The reason why you did it is into dental.

00:32:07.180 If a straight couple walks out of a restaurant and they get mugged and beaten or a gay couple gets bugged or beaten, why should the punishment be any more severe?

00:32:17.320 I don't know that it should be.

00:32:18.660 Both should be treated severely.

00:32:19.960 But we have set aside groups of people in America that have been classically or have been they say have been abused or have been put upon because of who they are or what they are.

00:32:35.800 Well, how close are we to those things here?

00:32:37.960 I don't know that people in America are getting beat up for their faith, but they sure are getting verbally beat up for their faith.

00:32:45.800 Go take a look at how they're mocked by anybody who who exhibits any expression of faith, how they are mocked by the political left.

00:32:53.900 You look at how it's handled in movies, how it's handled on television shows and and how it's changed dramatically in our lifetimes.

00:33:01.440 And it's because people of faith have bought into the idea that we're supposed to keep our mouth shut about what we believe in public.

00:33:11.640 And I can make I can make a sound argument for the for the it's called apologetics.

00:33:17.420 I can defend my faith with anyone, but I don't expect anyone to believe the way I do.

00:33:22.040 But I'm certainly not going to back down based on my faith.

00:33:25.120 Kamala Harris, Maisie Hirono saying.

00:33:27.280 And questioning whether someone that is a Christian.

00:33:33.600 Has the ability to be fair when neither one of those two would dare do it if it was somebody that was Hindu or somebody that was Muslim. 0.98

00:33:44.140 But of Christianity, especially Catholicism.

00:33:47.920 They feel emboldened to question whether or not that person has the ability to be fair.

00:33:52.520 That to me is scary.

00:34:00.480 The story that caught my that made me get down this path to begin with Christians around the world celebrate the nativity of our savior.

00:34:06.780 We gather in churches and hear the story of a Middle East where the holy family as a religious minority in the Roman Empire witnessed the birth of Christ far from their hometown.

00:34:15.000 So they say 2000 years later, the Christian communities in the Middle East, descendants of the first Christians, persevere in their faith in Christ.

00:34:22.660 They live in an era of violence, unrest and persecution.

00:34:25.720 And we know that to be true.

00:34:27.520 That to me shows you the shift in the world and the defense of people of faith.

00:34:40.380 People talk about the hypocrisy of the president in invoking faith and appointing people of faith.

00:34:46.100 Well, I you know what?

00:34:47.400 Every there is hypocrisy in all of us.

00:34:49.700 But anyone who doubts that there is an assault on Christianity isn't paying attention, is not paying attention whatsoever.

00:35:01.960 In a moment, a little bit of good news before we finish out this first hour of the show.

00:35:05.860 A great act of kindness by a young man thanking his parents.

00:35:09.200 I thought this story was one that I would want to share.

00:35:11.580 There's enough bad news and arguments to have.

00:35:13.940 We're going to end this hour with some good news.

00:35:15.520 That's coming up here in a moment.

00:35:16.500 My name is Mike Broomhead and this is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:35:19.700 Hey, thanks for being here.

00:35:23.040 I'm Mike Broomhead in for Glenn the rest of this week.

00:35:24.880 Happy New Year.

00:35:26.480 Next hour, we're going to talk about what would happen, what's going to happen in the next session of Congress as the Democrats getting behind the biggest increase since the New Deal.

00:35:34.460 We'll talk about that coming up just after the top of the next hour.

00:35:38.640 Before we close this one out, I thought this was a great story.

00:35:41.020 A young kid, the Kansas City Royals first round pick.

00:35:44.640 His name is Brady Singer.

00:35:46.260 They're saying this kid is their biggest prospect that they have.

00:35:49.060 He got a huge signing bonus for a young man.

00:35:52.560 He was the 18th pick in the 2018 draft.

00:35:55.280 He got a $4.25 million signing bonus.

00:35:58.600 There's a great video.

00:35:59.500 If you follow me on Twitter, at Broomhead Show, it's something I just retweeted this morning.

00:36:03.700 It's his parents reading a letter that he wrote them.

00:36:06.120 And for a young man to be this grateful in this, I would say, mature beyond his years was terrific.

00:36:14.780 He said, my smile and appreciation for both of you has never stopped and it never will.

00:36:18.980 You can watch this video as his mother reads this out loud and you can see the tears in his father's eyes.

00:36:23.160 He said, the money you both spent traveling, gear, hotel, food, and all those Gatorades I drank is much more than I could ever give you.

00:36:29.980 But there's something I do want to give you.

00:36:33.620 He goes on to say, I am paying off the loan from the bank.

00:36:37.520 Also, I paid off all of your debt as well.

00:36:40.680 Now, instead of trying to save money every weekend to replace the savings account you drained on traveling to see me play baseball, you can spend it on yourselves because you deserve the very best.

00:36:52.560 I thought that was a phenomenal story.

00:36:54.820 And what a dream that would be for all of us to be in a position to repay the people that have been so good to us in our lives, that have been able to, that have sacrificed so much for us to get us to where we are because none of us get there alone.

00:37:10.780 There's all of us.

00:37:12.040 Well, most of us are fiercely independent, but we realize that no one gets anywhere by themselves.

00:37:19.600 This young man doing a great thing for his parents.

00:37:23.200 I just thought it was a little bit of good news after Christmas as we head into the new year and look at some of the good that is still in people.

00:37:31.000 Even a young man like this got the world in front of him, $4 million signing bonus, and yet still had the presence of mind to do something kind like that for his parents.

00:37:40.420 I thought that was terrific.

00:37:42.000 As I said, coming up next hour, House Democrats lining up behind what could be the largest expansion of government in decades.

00:37:49.480 They're calling it the Green New Deal after the New Deal back in the 30s.

00:37:55.240 And this Green New Deal is about social justice and green global warming, climate change, whatever you want to call it.

00:38:02.840 But what does it really amount to?

00:38:04.840 Couple that along with what we're seeing in the economy.

00:38:07.400 This is what we're facing.

00:38:08.600 We say elections have consequences.

00:38:11.140 This is what we're up against.

00:38:12.580 I don't know that any of it can possibly happen, but they're trying to make it happen.

00:38:16.500 And that's what kicks off the beginning of the next hour.

00:38:19.100 We also continue our conversation about the border wall and the illegal immigration.

00:38:23.420 Again, social media users, at Broomhead Show on Twitter, Mike Broomhead on Instagram, or the Mike Broomhead Show on Facebook.

00:38:29.320 I'm Mike Broomhead.

00:38:30.360 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:38:37.340 The fusion of entertainment and enlightenment.

00:38:40.960 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:38:42.780 Coming up this hour, we're going to talk about the economy because the Democrats signing up for possibly the biggest expansion of government since the Great Deal.

00:38:51.020 They're calling it the Green New Deal.

00:38:53.480 So we're going to talk about that in light of the fact that the economy is booming in spite of the stock market sell-off, unemployment way down, consumer confidence way up.

00:39:01.220 That's the first part of the show.

00:39:02.680 And the Second Amendment under attack.

00:39:05.020 Again, this is an important story, and I'm going to tell you why.

00:39:07.920 My name is Mike Broomhead, and this is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:39:10.420 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:39:15.920 Tis the season for more.

00:39:17.740 More shopping online, more booking travel, more using websites to find the perfect gift, and all of that activity is happening on your device.

00:39:25.960 Sometimes sketchy websites that you don't think are sketchy.

00:39:28.600 Using your phone or your tablet could expose more of your personal information, and if that exposed information ends up in the hands of cyber criminals,

00:39:35.540 you could have a bigger problem than an online store running out of the gift that you promised your oldest.

00:39:40.380 So here's the thing.

00:39:41.460 LifeLock with Norton Security now helps keep your holidays happy.

00:39:45.360 LifeLock helps the threats to your identity, like somebody opening an account in your name.

00:39:49.500 And Norton Security protects your devices against the cyber threats like malware.

00:39:53.860 Now, nobody can prevent all identity theft or cyber crimes or monitor all transactions at all businesses,

00:39:57.840 but if you have LifeLock with Norton Security, you have comprehensive protection for your identity and your devices.

00:40:04.580 Head to LifeLock.com or call 1-800-LIFELOCK and use the promo code BECK for an extra 15% off your first year.

00:40:11.060 That's promo code BECK, an extra 15% off, now at LifeLock.com.

00:40:14.840 LifeLock.com.

00:40:25.000 Trust you had a Merry Christmas and you're looking forward to a Happy New Year.

00:40:27.480 My name is Mike Broomhead.

00:40:28.520 I am in for Glenn the rest of this week.

00:40:30.560 We appreciate you spending part of your day with us.

00:40:34.320 The Democrats are gearing up for quite possibly the biggest expansion since the New Deal.

00:40:39.200 They're calling it the Green New Deal.

00:40:40.600 This has a lot to do with social justice and with climate change and the things that they're trying to change and fundamentally fix in America.

00:40:47.920 Let's start with the principles at work here.

00:40:50.920 The president, I think, was right about the tax cuts in many different ways that are driving people crazy.

00:40:56.180 And as you know, for a long time, we kept hearing that it wasn't doing anything to fix the economy on any level.

00:41:01.640 It wasn't benefiting anyone but the ultra-rich in America.

00:41:04.400 Except statistics don't lie and eventually even the left had to shift their thinking about this or at least their messaging about it.

00:41:12.060 So go back.

00:41:13.540 Let's go further back to the Obama administration.

00:41:17.720 And when Barack Obama, through the work with the Congress, changed the tax structure with the Bush tax cuts,

00:41:25.000 they kept in place the tax cuts for the working class,

00:41:28.340 but they raised taxes on businesses and what they consider to be the wealthy in America.

00:41:34.300 And at the time, the tax cuts were going to leave in place what Bush did, but they called them the Obama tax cuts.

00:41:40.840 And at that time, it was going to be about worked out to about 40 bucks a week or a dollar an hour in the paychecks of working Americans,

00:41:48.480 to which Nancy Pelosi said, this goes a long way for the American people.

00:41:52.460 This is a great thing that's happening for the American people.

00:41:54.960 So now you fast forward.

00:41:57.560 President Trump cut taxes with the Republican Congress across the board.

00:42:03.560 Ninety-nine percent of Americans are going to see a tax cut.

00:42:06.900 The brilliance of this was doubling the standard deduction for the working families,

00:42:10.280 because working families, that means a lot of money.

00:42:14.320 Wealthy Americans, it doesn't deduct much from their taxes, doubling their standard deduction.

00:42:18.780 But for working families, that standard deduction doubling certainly does a lot to help the bottom line for working families.

00:42:26.400 But you look at the tax structure for corporations and how it was drastically reduced.

00:42:30.260 They eased the ability for repatriation of dollars, and it worked.

00:42:33.920 Jobs returning, manufacturing way up.

00:42:36.020 Every sector has got record low unemployment, with the exception of maybe one or two,

00:42:40.560 and even those are down to 40-year lows.

00:42:42.640 So it was hard to argue with the effects of the economy, even though they tried.

00:42:48.960 Nancy Pelosi called them crumbs.

00:42:50.720 This was going to be terrible.

00:42:52.660 They called them the irresponsible tax cuts they're saying that add to the deficit.

00:42:57.220 So I want to pick this apart before we get into the New Deal that they're trying to work on,

00:43:02.380 because I want to mirror what's happening with what they want to do,

00:43:06.060 and the principle of which they're resting on.

00:43:08.220 When the tax cuts happened, Nancy Pelosi called them crumbs. 0.61

00:43:14.980 Interesting that when, and the dollar-for-dollar amount was similar,

00:43:19.960 it was a huge win for working Americans when Barack Obama did it.

00:43:25.380 But when Trump does it, it's crumbs.

00:43:27.760 These are the naysayers.

00:43:29.800 I reference this all the time.

00:43:31.940 If you've ever read the Communist Manifesto, there are two groups of people,

00:43:36.100 the bourgeoisie and the proletariat.

00:43:39.840 The rich or the haves versus the have-nots.

00:43:43.740 The proletariat was the put-upon class of people that constantly did all the work, 1.00

00:43:48.860 and the bourgeoisie got all the benefit.

00:43:52.480 And one of the principles in the Communist Manifesto is called the immiseration of the proletariat.

00:43:57.340 If you don't understand how bad you have it,

00:44:00.560 we are going to explain to you how bad you have it.

00:44:03.700 You think things are good.

00:44:05.080 Let us tell you how bad they are.

00:44:07.300 So after the tax cuts happened and businesses did what they said they were going to do,

00:44:12.720 major corporations, Wells Fargo and others, upped the minimum wage in their company organically,

00:44:19.720 not falsely with some false raising of the minimum wage.

00:44:24.080 They said entry-level positions are going to start at $15 an hour in this company.

00:44:27.780 So if you're an entry-level employee just leaving school, college, whatever it is,

00:44:32.060 and looking to get into a corporation,

00:44:34.000 why would you go to work for other corporations that are at $12 an hour, $13 an hour,

00:44:38.880 when you can make $15 working entry-level for those corporations?

00:44:42.320 So at a time when unemployment is so low, attracting employees, this was one of the ways they were going to do it.

00:44:49.140 In addition to that, companies big and small gave either pay raises, bonuses,

00:44:54.580 or added the 401ks or expanded benefit packages.

00:44:58.540 Some corporations did all of the above.

00:45:00.920 And it helped many working families in America, as we knew that it would, as they said it would.

00:45:09.660 Companies did exactly what they said they would do by reducing the taxes on businesses big and small in America.

00:45:16.680 Made us more competitive internationally.

00:45:19.780 So the shift came when they could no longer deny the benefit,

00:45:23.640 because the highest consumer confidence was in the working class in America.

00:45:27.840 That also is shown by, right now, the early data is saying spending at Christmastime,

00:45:35.460 between Thanksgiving and December 24th, 5% increase and the highest ever.

00:45:42.460 So far, consumer confidence is through the roof.

00:45:47.880 So the shift from the left went from crumbs, from irresponsible tax cuts in crumbs,

00:45:54.320 to this is just the results of the Obama economy.

00:45:59.720 This was all the hard work.

00:46:01.560 This is terrific.

00:46:02.280 This is terrific politics.

00:46:04.260 Barack Obama inherited a nightmare from George W. Bush,

00:46:07.800 and he worked diligently to dig us out of that hole.

00:46:11.140 And over a four-year period of digging, digging, digging, digging, digging,

00:46:14.840 we finally got out of the hole.

00:46:16.700 And then over the next four years, we started to gain a little bit of momentum.

00:46:21.500 It was like that little train that could, climbing all the way to the top of the hill.

00:46:25.700 And wouldn't you know it, just as that little train got to the top of the hill,

00:46:30.460 the Trump presidency began, the Obama presidency was over.

00:46:35.360 So Obama, the conductor, or the train engineer, jumped off the train just as it crested the top of the hill.

00:46:42.800 And luckily enough, President Trump jumped onto that train,

00:46:46.360 and he reaped the benefits as we just roared downhill with the Obama economy.

00:46:51.340 That's the left.

00:46:53.000 Horrible economy because of Bush.

00:46:55.440 Trump reaps the benefits.

00:46:57.020 Obama was the workhorse.

00:46:58.760 That's what they're trying to sell the American people.

00:47:01.800 For two reasons.

00:47:02.860 One, obviously, politically, the one place that Trump has been a winner is on the economy.

00:47:07.480 If they can destroy that narrative, they have a better chance in 2020.

00:47:12.320 Here's the other.

00:47:13.860 It's called the Green New Deal.

00:47:17.740 See, President Trump's idea is if the government has less of the American discretionary income,

00:47:23.940 the American people will fuel an economy, broaden the tax base,

00:47:29.060 and you will increase revenue into the Treasury.

00:47:32.000 And it's worked.

00:47:33.820 Nancy Pelosi talking about the increased deficits because of the irresponsible tax cuts,

00:47:39.180 she knows is a lie.

00:47:41.860 You can track this.

00:47:43.480 This isn't just some right-wing radio host saying this.

00:47:46.260 This is a fact.

00:47:48.060 There has been record revenue in the United States Treasury every quarter since the tax cuts have been implemented.

00:47:54.860 The Treasury continues to gather more and more record revenue every single quarter.

00:48:01.180 So how do you lower taxes and increase revenue?

00:48:05.320 It's like Black Friday.

00:48:06.400 How do you sell a television set for $500 less than you did before and make money?

00:48:12.440 Well, because you're selling hundreds of them.

00:48:14.900 You increase revenue by increasing sales by reducing prices.

00:48:21.480 We all understand the principle, and that's what's at work right now.

00:48:25.920 They were not irresponsible tax cuts.

00:48:28.020 They did exactly as predicted by the president and his economic team.

00:48:32.100 The Democrats are now trying to say it's costing the American taxpayer billions

00:48:38.200 because now they want to raise taxes again on corporations because look at the money they're making.

00:48:44.880 We are leaving a lot of money on the table by not taxing them.

00:48:48.600 We can just raise half the taxes back.

00:48:51.140 Before it was at 35%.

00:48:53.020 Now it's at 22% or whatever it is.

00:48:55.760 Let's just take it to 30% or 28% or 29%.

00:48:58.560 Split the difference.

00:49:00.860 And they don't believe it's going to put a drag on the economy.

00:49:03.520 They don't believe it's going to put a drag on wages.

00:49:05.580 And they're wrong.

00:49:06.660 They've always been wrong when it comes to this.

00:49:11.440 The tax decrease is what's fueling the economy.

00:49:15.280 The American taxpayer having more of their own money is good.

00:49:19.900 As a matter of fact, there should be a shift in ideology.

00:49:23.460 And I hope you'll sell it this way yourself.

00:49:29.320 I want you to think of it this way.

00:49:32.700 Nancy Pelosi, think of all of the, whether it's Nancy Pelosi in leadership

00:49:36.740 or the people that are in power saying

00:49:40.640 that we are taking money away,

00:49:46.460 we are giving billions and billions and billions of dollars

00:49:49.940 to corporations with these tax cuts.

00:49:53.920 There's a shift in that.

00:49:55.240 There's a way you should look at that differently.

00:49:57.020 Give me just a moment or two.

00:49:59.500 I'm going to explain the difference.

00:50:00.680 We're going to go over what this Green New Deal entails,

00:50:03.300 exactly how much money is in there.

00:50:05.640 And Rand Paul telling you just a little bit of why the government

00:50:09.140 shouldn't have more of your own money

00:50:10.360 as he comes out with a list of government waste

00:50:12.860 that will make your head spin.

00:50:15.300 Some of the things that your government wants to tax you more for

00:50:18.900 and what they're doing with the money they already have

00:50:21.980 complaining about deficits.

00:50:23.720 We're going to do all of that here in just a couple of moments.

00:50:25.780 So stick around for that.

00:50:26.660 Again, my name is Mike Broomhead,

00:50:27.940 and this is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:50:30.980 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:50:33.140 Falling into debt can happen to the best of us,

00:50:35.480 especially if you're supporting a growing family.

00:50:38.180 But just because you're in debt now

00:50:39.580 doesn't mean that you can't manage your debt smarter.

00:50:42.100 If you feel like you're getting further behind,

00:50:44.440 American Financing can help

00:50:45.980 by consolidating your high-interest debt

00:50:48.180 into one manageable monthly payment.

00:50:50.700 Refinancing your home loan

00:50:51.700 could also allow you to start saving

00:50:53.100 up to $1,000 or more every single month.

00:50:56.340 Now think about what you could do with the money.

00:50:57.800 Retirement, college funds,

00:50:59.180 or paying off that high-interest debt.

00:51:01.140 With the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates at historic lows,

00:51:04.760 they only have one way to go,

00:51:06.180 and that is up.

00:51:07.140 And you don't want to miss this opportunity.

00:51:08.780 American Financing.

00:51:09.860 Their mortgage consultants are salary-based.

00:51:11.900 Unlike others.

00:51:12.740 There's no upfront fees.

00:51:13.940 Don't wait.

00:51:14.720 Call 800-906-2440.

00:51:17.740 That's 800-906-2440.

00:51:20.460 Or online at AmericanFinancing.net.

00:51:23.080 American Financing.

00:51:24.360 America's home for home loans.

00:51:26.220 American Financing Corporation.

00:51:28.040 NMLS 182334.

00:51:29.940 www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org.

00:51:33.080 Hey, thanks again.

00:51:46.740 And this is a Glenn Beck program.

00:51:49.140 As promised, we'll give you a couple of pieces of evidence

00:51:52.880 as to what's happening in the economy.

00:51:55.720 Rand Paul and the overspending by your government.

00:51:57.940 But first, the shift in ideology.

00:52:00.440 And here it is.

00:52:01.420 The next time you hear somebody on the left talk about how the federal government,

00:52:05.320 the Donald Trump tax cuts, gave billions of dollars to corporations,

00:52:09.560 remember this.

00:52:10.560 The government didn't give corporations anything.

00:52:12.920 What they did was take less.

00:52:14.400 I know it sounds like semantics, but it's not.

00:52:18.260 It is fundamentally and foundationally what we think as people.

00:52:22.580 And it's a huge shift.

00:52:24.240 It is your money to begin with.

00:52:27.160 You made the money.

00:52:29.000 The government takes it in taxes.

00:52:31.520 I don't know of anyone that doesn't believe you should pay something to live in this country.

00:52:37.360 I have a friend who is in the tax bracket where he doesn't pay much, if anything, in taxes at all federally

00:52:47.280 and says that's wrong.

00:52:48.900 Everybody should pay something.

00:52:51.040 It's never going to happen in our lifetimes, I don't believe,

00:52:53.880 where we get a fair tax system where everybody pays something.

00:52:57.780 No one is going to say to the American people,

00:53:00.200 there's half the country that pays nothing in federal income taxes and that's wrong.

00:53:04.340 Everybody is going to pay something.

00:53:05.960 I don't believe anyone's going to have the political courage to do that.

00:53:10.740 But don't believe for a moment that the government gave billions of dollars to anyone.

00:53:16.440 What they've done is taken billions less from them.

00:53:20.900 They didn't give them anything.

00:53:22.580 The idea that Nancy Pelosi, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, name all of the Democratic leadership,

00:53:28.580 believes that the government gave anybody anything tells you what they believe.

00:53:33.600 It wasn't the government's to give.

00:53:35.960 It was yours to give to the government.

00:53:39.080 They took less.

00:53:41.600 And it's worked.

00:53:44.460 And here's what they've done with that money.

00:53:46.580 The government debt grows to $22 trillion.

00:53:51.840 That falls on the shoulders of a Republican-led Congress.

00:53:54.680 They weren't going to get the 60 votes they needed by the Democrats in the Senate,

00:53:58.500 but they should have fought harder.

00:54:00.600 Look how the Democrats fight tooth and nail, fair and unfair, to get tax increases.

00:54:06.000 Why didn't the Republicans fight like that, fair and unfair, tooth and nail, for spending cuts?

00:54:14.340 And they didn't.

00:54:15.740 In order to get the tax cuts, they had to give back increases in government programs.

00:54:20.620 Does it make sense, does it?

00:54:23.240 If there is less need for unemployment and less need for food stamps, food assistance,

00:54:28.580 less need for welfare programs, why would we increase spending in those programs? 0.98

00:54:33.020 Well, because the Democrats have to go back to their constituents and say,

00:54:36.940 even though we gave billions to corporations, we got more for you.

00:54:42.580 The Republicans got to be held accountable.

00:54:45.140 They were holding, and still are, for a short time, the purse strings.

00:54:48.540 Do you think there's a chance in hell, sorry, for us to have a tax cut

00:54:55.340 with a Nancy Pelosi-led House of Representatives?

00:55:01.080 Rand Paul came out with what he called the Festivus edition of the Waste Report.

00:55:05.780 Here's how some of your money was spent.

00:55:09.360 Provided a stipend to soldiers in the Somali National Army, $76 million.

00:55:14.660 Promoted the already overcrowded farmer's market industry, $13 million.

00:55:20.900 Taught Rwanda special interest groups citizens how to lobby, $250,000.

00:55:28.100 Used a theater to combat homelessness and poverty, $15,000.

00:55:36.400 Studied, I can't believe this is true.

00:55:39.700 They studied the sexual habits of quails,

00:55:42.600 and I don't mean the former vice president, I mean the birds.

00:55:46.560 On cocaine, they spent $874,000 in the National Institute for Health.

00:55:54.500 Funded a fictionalized opera about Prince Harry for $15,000.

00:56:00.780 Made videos marketing U.S. colleges to Indian students, $75,000.

00:56:05.520 They blew leaf blowers at lizards for $75,000.

00:56:14.040 Supported legislative priorities in Libya, $1 million.

00:56:19.120 Put on plays in Afghanistan, the Department of State, for $200,000.

00:56:27.480 Studied horse and donkey hunting for $360,000.

00:56:30.520 Supported Egyptian tourism for $18 million.

00:56:35.980 Paid British student social activists to the U.S., $200,000.

00:56:42.540 Encouraged people in the Republic of Congo, $35,000.

00:56:48.240 The use of local resources.

00:56:49.680 Studied daydreaming.

00:56:51.020 National Institute of Health, $2.4 million to study daydreaming.

00:56:54.880 How do I get involved in one of these studies?

00:56:59.280 I'm just trying to look at some of the other highlights here.

00:57:04.460 Taught female entrepreneurs in India how to vlog, video blogging for $50,000.

00:57:10.680 Supported asset seizure programs in Paraguay for $400,000.

00:57:15.660 To the tune of $114.5 million to the American taxpayer.

00:57:21.820 So when the government complains or when we talk about, when we hear the Democrats say that we have an income problem, we need to raise taxes.

00:57:31.840 There's two fronts we should be fighting on.

00:57:34.060 Number one, there's record revenue under the Treasury.

00:57:36.900 We do not have an income problem in the United States.

00:57:39.840 We have a spending problem in the United States.

00:57:43.220 That's evident.

00:57:44.000 And the example that I use most often, and I mean no disrespect to Elton John, the singer, Elton John was very, very vocal and very honest about his filing bankruptcy.

00:58:00.260 And he filed bankruptcy because even at the millions of dollars he made with his music and continues to make with his music, he spent more than he made, if you can imagine that.

00:58:08.780 That's what the American government does. 0.87

00:58:15.740 So now the Democrats want to do something called the Green New Deal.

00:58:20.360 And this Green New Deal calls for creating a House committee to draft legislation to fight global warming, turn the U.S. economy into something to what Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders envisions.

00:58:32.720 The Green New Deal could be a preview to what the policies of the Democratic Party will back in 2020.

00:58:39.320 Will the American people enlarge the size of an already bloated government? 0.92

00:58:44.580 If they are already spending at a deficit of $22 trillion, why would any American, Republican or Democrat, give them more money to waste?

00:58:55.340 Think about you as someone who has lines of credit, whether it's credit cards, loans, whatever it is.

00:59:02.820 At some point, the bank says to you, we're not giving you any more money.

00:59:09.100 And they don't give you any more money because you haven't been responsible with the money they've given you.

00:59:15.460 At what point do the American people in mass, the independents and the Republicans, if not the Democrats, stand up and say, you've mismanaged everything you've gotten so far until you get your affairs in order.

00:59:27.080 We're done with this.

00:59:28.880 And yet the Democrats in the House are going to fight for a tax increase.

00:59:35.340 It's insane.

00:59:36.340 What we're going to do next half hour, New York Times reporter are advocating for tracking gun purchases made with credit cards because some mass shooters have used credit cards to buy weapons.

00:59:51.280 We're going to talk about your Second Amendment and how to fight for those rights, why it's important.

00:59:56.160 First Amendment, Second Amendment on the docket coming up here in just the next half hour.

01:00:00.460 Again, my name is Mike Broomhead.

01:01:17.400 It's TheBlazeTV.com.

01:01:19.820 Steven Crowder, Eric Bolling, Mark Levin, me, Allie Stuckey, all of them.

01:01:23.820 Blaze TV.

01:01:28.480 Hey, Happy New Year from the Glenn Beck Program.

01:01:30.580 My name is Mike Broomhead.

01:01:31.480 I'm in this week for Glenn and appreciate you spending part of your day with me.

01:01:35.180 It is interesting.

01:01:36.300 The New York Times printing a story insinuating that credit card companies have some responsibility in mass shootings because they allow purchases and finance them.

01:01:46.640 Let that sink in for a moment.

01:01:49.280 So some maniac decides that it's time to end their own life usually and they're going to take a bunch of people with them, whether it is people they know or in some cases people they've never met before in their lives.

01:02:02.260 And so because of that, a credit card company that allows you to purchase a firearm using their credit card is somehow responsible when you use that firearm to kill somebody.

01:02:15.960 This is one of my favorite conversations to have with people because it is normally good people, reasonable, rational people that have lost their minds.

01:02:27.160 There has got to be a shift in how you and I have a conversation with people because the narrative belongs to us and we give it away.

01:02:34.880 I refuse to have this conversation with people that begins with me having to defend myself by saying I care about dead children.

01:02:44.940 I'm not doing that anymore.

01:02:47.440 If you tell me if you're coming from a position that either I care about dead children or I'm willing to give up some of my rights, you're wrong.

01:02:56.540 The way you're looking at this is 100 percent wrong.

01:03:00.360 This isn't just about my right to keep and bear arms.

01:03:02.620 This is about you fixing a problem and you're not fixing the problem.

01:03:06.860 If you go to a doctor because you're not feeling well and you're sick and the doctor misdiagnoses your problem and puts you on a treatment plan for the wrong thing, that is horrible.

01:03:18.760 And it's usually a big mistake that's very costly because now the real problem has not been addressed and has not been fixed.

01:03:27.440 And you falsely believe you're on the road to recovery.

01:03:32.080 So you're no longer worried about addressing the problem because you believe you fixed it.

01:03:38.800 That's why it's dangerous.

01:03:40.420 So according to this New York Times article written by a guy named Andrew Ross Sorkin, credit card companies should be tracking people that make firearms purchases with their credit cards.

01:03:56.600 Think about how silly that is.

01:04:00.680 If I use a credit card, it's it's it's the holidays.

01:04:06.420 I'm visiting my family in Florida.

01:04:10.160 And so we go out and we decide we're going to stop at a grocery store and we're going to buy some things to make some drinks at the house.

01:04:18.660 I buy this huge bottle of gin because I'm a gin drinker and my brother drinks vodka.

01:04:24.580 So he's a vodka drinker.

01:04:26.200 We buy rum for people that come over for drinks, a ton of mixers and 40 pounds of ice.

01:04:32.820 And we start trucking this out to the car.

01:04:35.660 Anybody concerned about the people that might be drinking and driving?

01:04:39.180 Now, we don't drink and drive.

01:04:41.260 My brother's a cop.

01:04:43.080 We don't drink and drive.

01:04:44.540 But, man, the concerns there, what do you need all that booze for?

01:04:49.780 No one's ever said that before in their life.

01:04:54.800 You go into a firearm store and you buy some bulk ammunition because one of the things your family likes to do on holidays is shoot to target practice.

01:05:03.980 Whether you're in Arizona where I am and you go out in the desert in the great weather and do it there, you go to a firing range and range and you shoot.

01:05:10.840 You walk out with a couple of cases of ammunition.

01:05:15.000 There's a segment of our society that wants you followed because now you're potentially a murder spree.

01:05:24.080 Do you understand how misdiagnosing a problem is the issue?

01:05:28.260 This is about the Second Amendment.

01:05:32.500 There's no doubt that the ignorance of people that have no idea why the Second Amendment was written, what the purpose of the Second Amendment was and is, and this living, breathing document.

01:05:42.040 The people that argue that the Second Amendment, that the founding fathers never had any idea that we would have the firepower that we do right now, it doesn't matter what they understood, the firepower to be.

01:05:56.500 There's a reason why the citizens in this country have a right to be armed just like the government has a right to be armed.

01:06:03.860 There's a reason for the Second Amendment. 0.99

01:06:05.660 That's like saying the founding fathers had no idea that we would have smartphones, Twitter, which is, you know, where the biggest fights about the First Amendment happened is Twitter and other social media outlets.

01:06:21.260 At the time, there was the hand crank printing press, so they had no idea the First Amendment to lead to where it is right now.

01:06:28.380 They want to control your hate speech.

01:06:30.660 The funny thing is, who gets to define what's hateful?

01:06:36.700 That's why it's dangerous.

01:06:39.020 The First Amendment protects the most controversial of speech, and it should.

01:06:45.840 I believe burning the flag is quite possibly the most disrespectful thing you can do to your country and to veterans who have fought and bled and watched their brothers and sisters die for that flag.

01:06:57.780 I think it's an immensely disrespectful, despicable thing to do, but you have a right to do it.

01:07:05.100 The American flag has been used in art exhibits as a doormat pouring out of a toilet.

01:07:09.580 It's been desecrated, and they say that's to invoke an emotional response.

01:07:14.320 That's protected by the First Amendment.

01:07:16.180 But those very people that would put a crucifix in a jar of urine and call it art that is meant to exude or to invoke that kind of drastic emotion would also tell you that you have to watch what words you use because it's hate speech.

01:07:32.820 And by not using or by using gender pronouns, you're being a hateful person, and you should be thrown out of college.

01:07:39.200 That's why the First Amendment is there to protect people's speech, because who gets to define what's hateful?

01:07:45.940 Well, the Second Amendment protects all the other ones.

01:07:52.080 And the worst part is when they believe they're curing a problem, they're not.

01:07:58.040 Nancy Pelosi said we are going to get reasonable background checks.

01:08:02.680 I don't know what that's going to solve, and neither does she.

01:08:06.360 But it sure feels like they're doing something, doesn't it?

01:08:09.200 After Sandy Hook, which was a horrifying experience for me, and for everybody else who had to try to discuss this, talk about it, imagining family members being told their children were murdered at school.

01:08:27.580 I can't imagine a more devastating thing to have happen to a parent.

01:08:33.220 And after that happened, the anti-gun people said we want background checks for any gun transaction with the exclusion of immediate family members that you wouldn't have to get a background check.

01:08:49.940 The kid that committed that horrible crime, Adam Lanza, he got those guns from his mother.

01:08:57.600 Now, first of all, A, he was too young to have them, so he already broke one gun law.

01:09:02.260 When I say he got them from his mother, he murdered her in her sleep with them, so he killed his mother, another violation of the gun laws. 0.74

01:09:11.060 And then he went and committed that heinous act.

01:09:14.340 So a background check system, an enhanced background check system would have never stopped that crime.

01:09:22.660 We continue to look at the Second Amendment differently because in the minds of people on the left, the anti-gun people, a gun has one purpose, and that's to kill.

01:09:32.800 And therefore, it's evil, and therefore, there is no good use for a gun, and we should get rid of them all.

01:09:38.740 And you can give them all the evidence in the world of reasonable citizens that have protected their lives and the lives of the people that live in their homes and their property and done the right thing with guns in stopping crimes from happening against them or other people, and that evidence doesn't matter to them.

01:09:57.140 I'm an excitable personality.

01:09:58.980 I am someone who is prone to argue.

01:10:03.480 I never shy away from an argument.

01:10:05.540 I've never brandished a weapon on a human being in my life, and it's one of the things that terrifies me the most would ever be to have to point a gun at another human being and pull the trigger.

01:10:17.600 But can you imagine being in a scenario where you need to protect the people you love or someone else, and you're not able to?

01:10:24.880 That is the worst-case scenario for me.

01:10:29.380 This assault on the Second Amendment is insulting because it demonizes people like you and I.

01:10:38.780 More on this, and we talk about General Mattis and what a good man he is, as I believe he is a huge loss to the Trump administration as he leaves early.

01:10:47.520 You're going to hear what he said to the men and women that are serving in our United States military in his address over Christmas.

01:10:53.460 All of that coming up in just a few moments.

01:10:55.540 Again, my name is Mike Broomhead, and this is the Glenn Beck Program.

01:10:58.940 Merry Christmas.

01:11:02.960 Happy New Year from the Glenn Beck Program.

01:11:04.440 I'm Mike Broomhead.

01:11:05.040 And for Glenn, the rest of this week, coming up next hour, we go back to and talk about ice dropping off hundreds of people in El Paso.

01:11:11.140 It's happening in cities across the country because of the overwhelmed system with the asylum seekers.

01:11:16.260 So we'll get to the fallout of all that, and what happens next is the president says there's no end in sight necessarily to the shutdown until we get a barrier, whether it's a wall, fence, whatever you want to call it.

01:11:26.280 So all of that will be coming up in the next hour.

01:11:28.560 We're going to get to this General Mattis in a moment, but I want to finish up this thought about the Second Amendment and the narrative.

01:11:34.800 The two things I talk most about are the narrative because we allow it to be stolen from us, whether it's the Second Amendment issue, the abortion issue, First Amendment rights, whatever it is.

01:11:44.120 We end up defending ourselves instead of making a point.

01:11:47.160 But also, I've been hammering the media for the way they cover things, and a big part of that will be coming up in the next hour how the media is covering the caravan in Tijuana

01:11:56.920 and this issue of asylum seekers and what the truth and the real truth of this is and where journalism in America is letting the American people down by not giving both sides and fitting into and fitting everything into the narrative they want you to hear and see.

01:12:12.220 So we'll cover more of that in a bit.

01:12:15.960 General Mattis shows you what a great man he is.

01:12:21.340 The defense secretary will be sorely missed, I believe it is.

01:12:24.360 This is a big hit to the Trump administration.

01:12:26.340 I think the president is going to miss him sorely, whether he realizes it or not, what a good man General Mattis is.

01:12:32.940 In his Christmas address, I want you to hear just a little bit of what he had to say to those men and women that are serving.

01:12:44.220 Since Washington crossed the Delaware at Christmas in 1776, American troops have missed holidays at home to defend our experiment in democracy.

01:12:54.220 To all you lads and lasses holding the line in 2018 on land, at sea, or in the air, thanks for keeping the faith.

01:13:04.400 Merry Christmas and may God hold you safe.

01:13:07.000 I just think he's a great man.

01:13:09.940 I think that his service to this country is huge.

01:13:14.480 I think it cannot be overstated.

01:13:16.280 I think that he is an amazing man.

01:13:19.000 I think he's done a great job as defense secretary in the years of service.

01:13:22.460 I think that the greatest asset that this president brought to the table at the beginning of his presidency was surrounding himself with great people.

01:13:27.940 And there have been people that have come and gone.

01:13:30.480 There will be people that come and go.

01:13:32.340 But a loss like this is huge.

01:13:33.960 I think that his disagreement with the president.

01:13:35.740 And let's just say, let's not again, let's not overblow the disagreement here.

01:13:40.380 I think it was a big mistake.

01:13:42.560 But there were three secretaries of defense under President Obama.

01:13:47.640 And all of them were very critical.

01:13:51.500 That were very critical of him.

01:13:53.180 Robert Gates resigned in 2011, criticized Obama's role as commander in chief in his memoir.

01:14:01.780 All too early in the administration, suspicion and distrust of senior military officers by senior White House officials, including the president and the vice president, became a big problem for me.

01:14:10.460 I tried to manage the relationship between the commander in chief and his military leaders.

01:14:14.180 So this isn't always about everyone else.

01:14:18.940 But again, the idea of the narrative and what you're being told in the severity, I think this is a big hit because of the good man that General Mattis is.

01:14:28.000 I think that it's a mistake for us to pull troops out of Syria.

01:14:31.020 But to act as if this is some kind of dysfunction we've never seen before, that this level of of rebuke from military leaders against the president is unheard of.

01:14:42.020 President Obama is still looked at by the people on the left as a great American president.

01:14:46.760 As commander in chief of the military, he decimated the United States military.

01:14:51.160 It was not a priority for that administration, the reduction in size of the military, the not renewing or revitalizing any part of it after we had been at war for such a long time.

01:15:02.260 The focus not being on the military has us in a place now where we are in deep, deep trouble.

01:15:09.240 There is a report made by a bipartisan group of people that says that we could actually lose a war with not only the Chinese, but with the Russians, possibly.

01:15:21.160 That the increase in spending that we've done in the military in the last year is only the tip of the iceberg.

01:15:25.960 That needs to be maintained for at least 10 more years to make sure that we are the world's superpower, that the principle of peace through strength continues.

01:15:35.320 That we have allowed our military to go unrepaired.

01:15:41.660 We still have the greatest fighting force in the world.

01:15:44.100 The men and women, the volunteers of our military are still the greatest in the world, but we don't have enough of them.

01:15:49.180 And we are not giving them the equipment that they need to do the jobs that they may need to do, according to this report.

01:15:56.860 One member, Senator John Kyle, was a part of that group before he went back to the Senate to replace John McCain when John McCain passed away.

01:16:03.960 On my show in Arizona, talking with Senator Kyle said, this is a real issue that the United States Congress had better address.

01:16:11.640 What are the chances that addressing the need for increases in military spending is something that will be taken seriously.

01:16:19.240 By the next administration, by the next Congress, especially by the House of Representatives.

01:16:27.300 But General Mattis has been a great leader in American military and has been a great asset to the Trump administration.

01:16:34.220 Exactly, exactly what will happen next is now the concern.

01:16:42.580 Coming up, ice dropping off hundreds of people in El Paso.

01:16:46.440 Asylum seekers, it's happening all over the country. 0.99

01:16:48.560 What's the fallout?

01:16:49.400 What happens next?

01:16:50.700 What can and should be done?

01:16:52.260 And when will the government reopen?

01:16:53.820 All of that coming up at the beginning of the next hour of the program.

01:16:56.900 Again, stay tuned.

01:16:58.400 My name is Mike Broomhead.

01:16:59.500 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

01:17:01.360 Back in a few.

01:17:02.100 The fusion of entertainment and enlightenment.

01:17:11.380 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

01:17:14.180 All right, coming up, we're going to talk about ice dropping people off all over the country.

01:17:18.620 El Paso, Texas, the latest without notification of the communities.

01:17:21.400 What is it doing to these communities to have people just dropped in their midst?

01:17:24.740 How long will this be going on?

01:17:26.540 And is there an end in sight to the government shutdown?

01:17:29.240 The president throwing down the gauntlet, saying there's no time soon and definitely not without the wall.

01:17:34.100 We also talk about the economy of the United States, spending at Christmastime, gas prices down.

01:17:38.620 All of that coming up in the next hour.

01:17:40.420 I'm Mike Broomhead, and this is the Glenn Beck Program.

01:18:56.620 Hey, thanks for being here.

01:18:57.700 My name is Mike Broomhead.

01:18:58.640 Happy New Year.

01:18:59.280 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

01:19:00.420 We've got so much going on.

01:19:03.340 And to start with this hour, an update on the situation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

01:19:09.980 You know, the two levels of government protecting our borders, the Border Patrol or Border Protection.

01:19:16.120 They are the first line of defense stopping people from crossing our border.

01:19:19.940 Once people are in the country, they are then approaching ICE agents.

01:19:24.100 And Immigration and Customs Enforcement is charged with people that are seeking asylum.

01:19:28.000 We have seen this over 400% uptick in people posing as families.

01:19:31.540 These are adults bringing children that are not their own and posing as if those children are.

01:19:35.840 There is a record number of people in custody right now that are unaccompanied minors.

01:19:41.800 This problem goes back to the Obama administration.

01:19:44.560 I will continue to harp on this.

01:19:46.460 I'm in for Glenn all week.

01:19:47.480 You're probably going to get tired of me saying it.

01:19:49.520 But there is a narrative that needs to be shifted in the traditional media.

01:19:53.640 The media in this country enjoys protections and they always should.

01:19:57.400 The media in America should be able to unfettered, be able to question and be critical of their government.

01:20:03.700 But they also have got to be fair.

01:20:05.860 However, they should be giving both sides, which they rarely do anymore.

01:20:12.000 The 24-hour news cycle, everything is breaking news.

01:20:15.260 You are only hearing one side of things.

01:20:17.700 And that is to the detriment of the American people.

01:20:22.860 Now, most people are smart enough to realize you're getting a jaded view.

01:20:27.440 If you listen to this show when I'm here especially, you are going to get my opinion.

01:20:32.940 But I deliver it as my opinion.

01:20:35.100 I will try to give both sides, but I come with a set of predisposed ideas.

01:20:42.740 I have got my own set of circumstances.

01:20:46.760 I come from a position on everything.

01:20:49.940 You see journalists that are acting as if they are giving you unfiltered news, and they absolutely aren't.

01:20:56.520 I can tell you from firsthand experience what's been going on and how long it's been going on.

01:21:01.660 The president was at the border in McAllen, Texas, when we were being overrun by unaccompanied minors. 0.95

01:21:09.300 Children just left in the woods to seek out immigration and customs enforcement.

01:21:14.260 Children as young as five years old.

01:21:16.120 not speaking English, finding Border Patrol with notes on them that somewhere in the United States

01:21:23.360 was some kind of a relative and they were seeking asylum, given a lawyer and a hearing.

01:21:29.260 We know what was happening. The difference is, and I don't understand how this happens,

01:21:36.260 but the media always acted as if President Obama had the country's best interest in mind,

01:21:44.620 that even when he made a mistake, it was a mistake with the best of intentions.

01:21:49.840 Obamacare was an abysmal failure. Billions of dollars, the co-ops that were created by the

01:21:56.540 federal government, these non-profit insurance companies propped up in the health care exchanges

01:22:01.340 by billions of dollars in loans from the American government that were supposed to drive down

01:22:06.140 health care costs because they were not-for-profit companies. Every single one of them went bankrupt.

01:22:11.200 All of the co-ops went out of business and billions of your tax dollars were lost in that misguided idea.

01:22:18.700 But, best of intentions, President Obama trying to insure uninsured Americans.

01:22:24.700 During the influx of these unaccompanied minors into our country, 1.00

01:22:28.420 they were separated by age groups. I saw this with my own eyes.

01:22:32.380 And, you know, not to be too patronizing of the whole thing, the fight was led by Glenn Beck.

01:22:44.860 It was a humanitarian mission. It had nothing to do with politics.

01:22:48.120 There were people on that trip, the likes of which were Alveda King and Ted Cruz.

01:22:53.960 We all were down there.

01:23:00.400 We all saw with our own eyes what was going on.

01:23:04.820 Children separated by age groups.

01:23:06.720 So even when kids would come across the border, unless they were maybe cousins or just friends

01:23:11.280 of the same age, they were separated.

01:23:15.200 We saw children as, I saw a kid maybe eight years old, six years old,

01:23:20.160 sitting on a cot all by himself.

01:23:23.560 We were screaming then that it needed to change.

01:23:26.680 The pictures released last year were thought to be of the horrible treatment

01:23:31.860 by the Trump administration of these unaccompanied minors.

01:23:34.380 These were pictures that were taken during the Obama administration.

01:23:37.940 We know that some of these children were put into foster care

01:23:41.020 by people that abused these children and put them to work as slave labor.

01:23:45.920 All of this happened then.

01:23:47.620 So it's not just to be critical of the Obama administration.

01:23:52.940 This is to tell you that you are getting an unclear picture as they try to demonize this president.

01:23:57.940 Because although the same mistakes were being made by the Obama administration,

01:24:02.040 he was trying to do the right thing. 0.99

01:24:04.520 This president is evil. 0.85

01:24:05.960 So as soon as you disagree with somebody, they become demonized. 0.95

01:24:12.020 Donald Trump was a billionaire, flashy.

01:24:15.180 No one hated him. 0.96

01:24:17.260 No one called him a racist and a homophobe and a xenophobe.

01:24:20.500 He wasn't called any of those things.

01:24:22.420 He'd won countless awards from the NAACP, diversity awards and everything else in New York City.

01:24:29.520 Now, all of a sudden, he's public enemy number one.

01:24:33.500 Well, somewhere in the middle is true.

01:24:35.940 You know, there are those that hold him up to be the great savior.

01:24:39.460 And there are those that hold him up to be the great Satan.

01:24:42.340 Somewhere in the middle is the truth.

01:24:43.860 You hold on to a set of ideals.

01:24:47.500 And when a leader fits within the ideals you uphold, you applaud them for that.

01:24:52.120 When they don't, you're critical.

01:24:54.220 But if you're going to put your reliance in this country on an individual, at some point, you're going to be disappointed.

01:25:01.240 But the fact remains that what's happening right now has been going on for a long time.

01:25:07.120 Our government has done nothing to stop it.

01:25:09.940 You cannot lay this problem at the feet of Donald Trump as much as the media would say that they are going to.

01:25:17.680 The need for border security goes back to the Reagan administration when the Congress let him down there.

01:25:22.780 The Bush administration, it happened there.

01:25:24.640 I mentioned when I was in the other day, Bill Clinton authorized.

01:25:28.900 It was during that administration where it was Duncan Hunter, a staunch Republican, Duncan Hunter Sr., that got the funding for a two-tiered wall at the southern border of California.

01:25:39.560 Well, if a two-tiered wall or fence was working then in southern California and it's working now and it was approved by Bill Clinton, who was a border hawk, how is it that now Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and the rest of the Democrats can demonize the Republicans that want a barrier now?

01:25:57.940 Fence, wall, fence, wall, two-tier, single-tier, 30 feet tall, whatever it is, how do you demonize them for wanting this when it was fit then when Bill Clinton let it happen and wanted it to happen back in the 90s?

01:26:10.560 Fence, this is an absurd argument based on politics and instead of all of us, Republicans like myself, I'm not leaving the Republican Party, at least not now, but I don't argue with those that have.

01:26:31.780 The registered independents that still think as conservatives that believe the Republican Party abandoned them, it's kind of the difference between a Puritan and a Pilgrim.

01:26:40.140 You're a Pilgrim. You've left the party to go find something better. I would rather stay and purify it within. I think the fight needs to be inside still. I don't want to abandon that yet. 0.99

01:26:51.100 But Republicans and independents and Democrats should all be together in one thing, and that is having a healthy suspicion on the behavior of those we've elected to lead us.

01:27:02.420 And we don't. They keep us divided along political lines. They keep us divided in such crazy ways that we fight with each other instead of pointing the finger at all of them collectively.

01:27:13.680 For all of you Democrats, there is truth in the fact that Chuck Schumer is never going to give 60 votes necessary for real border security, and you should be very critical of him for that.

01:27:25.220 As Republicans, we should be critical of the Republicans that haven't taken deficit spending seriously like they promised.

01:27:34.140 That when Obama was in office, we watched the huge increase in deficits. It hasn't stopped yet. It hasn't even slowed down.

01:27:41.400 But when it comes to this issue, we should be very critical of a government that's done absolutely nothing about it.

01:27:53.500 El Paso, Texas, 124 people and then 200 more dropped off at a bus station. Just dropped off.

01:27:59.680 They have a right to be here. They're awaiting asylum hearings, and they're just in the community.

01:28:05.820 No job, no food, no housing, no place to live, no place to go, no future, no nothing. Just dropped off.

01:28:13.120 Same thing happened in the city I live in, in Phoenix, Arizona. It's happening in cities all over the country.

01:28:18.740 Do you blame ICE? Well, they have a mandate, and they have to follow the law.

01:28:25.620 An update on really what this is about.

01:28:28.180 What's happening with all of this, how it's affecting our communities, and what should we be doing as American citizens about it?

01:28:37.400 Ultimately, the power of the vote and the influence we have over those we elect really is in our hands if we collectively will do something about it.

01:28:45.420 What needs to be done? An update on what's going on.

01:28:48.780 All of that's coming up here in just a moment. I promise you that.

01:28:51.600 Again, my name is Mike Broomhead, and this is the Glenn Beck Program.

01:29:58.000 Hey, thanks for being here again.

01:30:24.560 My name is Mike Broomhead.

01:30:25.480 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

01:30:26.600 If you're a social media user, you can find me on Twitter, at Broomhead Show.

01:30:31.280 At Broomhead Show.

01:30:32.500 Don't look for Mike Broomhead.

01:30:33.780 It's a poor guy in England that keeps getting my tweets.

01:30:36.760 I am Mike Broomhead, all one word, on Instagram, or the Mike Broomhead fan page on Facebook,

01:30:42.300 if you'd like to follow me there.

01:30:43.700 I kind of follow my regular day-to-day show in Phoenix, Arizona.

01:30:50.740 ICE drops off hundreds of migrants in El Paso.

01:30:53.140 They dropped off apparently no plan to help them find housing, left people stranded, small children and infants.

01:31:01.260 They were dropped at a Greyhound station.

01:31:03.680 A spokeswoman for Greyhound said, all of a sudden, a bunch of people showed up.

01:31:07.380 We weren't expecting it.

01:31:08.940 We weren't given prior notice.

01:31:11.360 Over 200 migrants were temporarily housed in buses.

01:31:14.380 Then the next day on Christmas Eve, 60 more were dropped off.

01:31:18.840 More were expected to be dropped off on Christmas.

01:31:21.120 And then again today on the 26th.

01:31:27.680 ICE admitted they dropped the ball Sunday and not giving notification to the community.

01:31:32.260 They were going to release 214 people at a Greyhound station.

01:31:36.400 Then they told us to expect 200 more people the next day.

01:31:42.620 So they are at least giving the community the opportunity to be getting shelters, hotel rooms, food, medical supplies ready for those that are coming to the community.

01:31:51.180 This according to the new darling of the Democratic Party, Beto O'Rourke.

01:31:55.340 In a statement to CNN, ICE suggested they were limited in what they could do.

01:32:01.840 They said to mitigate the risk of holding families until past the time frame allotted by the government or to the government, ICE had to curtail reviews of post-release plans for families apprehended along the southwest border.

01:32:14.280 However, they continued to say ICE continues to work with local and state officials and non-governmental partners in these areas to prepare to provide assistance with transportation or other services.

01:32:27.280 They didn't specify in this address why they chose to drop the immigrants off in El Paso over the Christmas holiday without alerting local officials.

01:32:37.280 In Phoenix, Arizona, they were notified a few weeks ago that a number and they did not specify what that number was.

01:32:45.540 A number of these people would be dropped off.

01:32:47.600 And it was sent to the Phoenix Police Department because a number of those people were going to be fitted with with monitoring devices or, you know, whether they'd be ankle bracelets or otherwise.

01:32:57.120 And they were telling the police that just because they were wearing the ankle bracelets doesn't mean they had necessarily committed crimes.

01:33:03.220 So not necessarily committing crimes, the Phoenix police were also notified, be very careful what you do.

01:33:13.200 Because, again, as a local law enforcement agency, you're not supposed to deal with federal immigration laws.

01:33:21.400 Another silly idea, in my opinion.

01:33:26.720 Law enforcement works hand in hand with federal agencies, which we talked about earlier.

01:33:31.000 So what needs to be done?

01:33:34.840 Shouldn't we all be a part of the solution to this problem? 0.99

01:33:39.180 And what I mean by that is we continue to have these stupid arguments instead of facing the reality of what's going on. 0.99

01:33:46.340 Our federal government is charged with the military, with border security, with infrastructure, and they're dropping the ball. 0.99

01:33:55.280 And we allow that to continue.

01:33:57.240 There is no doubt that border security is not what it's supposed to be.

01:34:03.780 But because this president ran on the idea of a barrier, of a wall, they're not going to give him a political victory.

01:34:11.660 Even the Democrats know that's true.

01:34:13.440 Even the Democrats know, the voters know that that's the case.

01:34:22.900 That they are not going to give this president a victory or anything he can hang his hat on going into 2020.

01:34:30.260 That that's political suicide for them.

01:34:32.520 So the government is about getting reelected.

01:34:36.280 And I'm not this isn't breaking news, by the way.

01:34:38.660 I'm not I'm not I am being Captain Obvious.

01:34:43.180 But why do we tolerate it?

01:34:46.620 There have been situations where we have gone to our government and said this is not going to happen.

01:34:54.340 We've shut down the switchboards of the House.

01:34:57.280 We've done other things.

01:34:58.760 At what point do the American people band together and say the government works for us and they're not working right now?

01:35:07.460 This doesn't work.

01:35:10.520 You know, I'm friends with members of Congress from my state.

01:35:13.860 These are good people.

01:35:14.800 These are good, hardworking people.

01:35:16.700 But nothing is getting done.

01:35:22.200 Someone should be holding Chuck Schumer accountable.

01:35:24.720 This is a guy that spent so many years as a border hawk.

01:35:28.720 If you if Donald Trump were to just rip what Chuck Schumer said in a public setting in 2009, I believe it was.

01:35:38.060 Chuck Schumer's words.

01:35:39.600 We're that saying undocumented tells the American people that we are not serious about solving the problem.

01:35:48.560 He went on to say, if it's illegal, you should say it's illegal.

01:35:53.220 And he went on to say, I believe it's illegal and it's wrong.

01:35:57.280 Speaking of illegal immigration.

01:36:01.240 Where is the traditional media, the Democrat voters, the independent voters?

01:36:07.480 Because they're not going to listen to Republican voters.

01:36:09.420 I don't blame them, but they'll listen to the independents.

01:36:12.640 You hold the power.

01:36:14.560 We hold the power in the primaries.

01:36:16.700 We prop the candidates up in each party.

01:36:19.300 The independent voters make the decisions.

01:36:22.120 Where are those independent voters saying to Chuck Schumer?

01:36:25.180 Where is the change coming from, Chuck?

01:36:28.420 Where's the 60 votes we need to get something done so that the government can reopen?

01:36:35.780 And it's not happening.

01:36:37.120 The horrible treatment.

01:36:40.140 And I'm going to the humanitarian side of this for the conservatives out there that hate the appearance that we don't care about the humanity.

01:36:46.700 We should be changing that.

01:36:49.200 Let me tell you what I know about the border because I live in a border state.

01:36:52.500 When caravans of people are brought by the coyotes across the border, when the cartels are bringing people in illegally into this country and they're leading them on these horrible, sometimes paths to their death where it gets to be 115, 118 degrees in the desert.

01:37:08.060 And people literally are dropping dead.

01:37:10.140 They have makeshift stores before they get to the border itself, very close to the border where they can buy supplies that they hopefully can carry to get them home or get them across the border into America on the trip.

01:37:22.300 Do you know that one of the things that's available in those convenience stores are the similarity to I think it's the morning after pill or something very similar? 0.50

01:37:31.500 And every woman that crosses the border buys it because every woman that crosses that border expects to be raped on the trip. 0.95

01:37:38.780 They're told this ahead of time. 0.66

01:37:41.200 Now, I'm not saying that 100 percent of the women that cross are sexually assaulted, but they expect that they are. 1.00

01:37:47.480 I want you to let that sink in.

01:37:53.460 That by allowing a porous border and allowing an industry that illegally trucks people across the border, we're a part of letting this happen to women crossing the border. 1.00

01:38:04.140 We have infants being dropped at a Greyhound station living in a bus.

01:38:10.380 Because we don't demand that our government do something about this.

01:38:13.920 It's not just about the rule of law.

01:38:15.900 It's about humanity.

01:38:17.480 We talk about the largest increase in government since the New Deal.

01:38:23.680 It's called the Green New Deal.

01:38:25.680 Why it's going to affect you and who's jumping on board and exactly what is it going to do.

01:38:30.880 All of that in the next half hour of the program.

01:38:33.500 My name is Mike Broomhead.

01:38:35.220 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

01:39:59.800 Hey, thanks for being here.

01:40:00.820 My name is Mike Broomhead.

01:40:01.660 In for Glenn Beck all week.

01:40:03.420 The Glenn Beck program.

01:40:04.640 We appreciate you spending as part of your day with us.

01:40:06.740 It's the biggest increase in government.

01:40:09.600 The scope and size of government fixing to increase.

01:40:12.900 If the Democrats have their way with something called the Green New Deal, named after the New Deal, which was a huge increase in the size and scope of government.

01:40:20.180 Is that what the American people want?

01:40:22.160 And how is this going to be messaged to the American people?

01:40:27.040 The Republican Party does a horrible job of messaging.

01:40:29.600 And I mean that with all due respect.

01:40:30.860 I've had some great guests on from the RNC on my local show in Arizona.

01:40:34.960 There's some really good people there.

01:40:37.280 The messaging is way off base.

01:40:38.940 And whether it's because they don't have the voice from most of the traditional media, I don't know.

01:40:42.900 But they don't do a very good job of articulating what's really going on.

01:40:47.300 And the one thing that Republicans and Democrats and independents have in common is they don't necessarily trust the government.

01:40:55.160 The Democrats right now don't like the leadership in America because both houses of Congress are being held by, at least for a short time longer, by Republicans.

01:41:03.860 And so is the White House.

01:41:05.060 So they don't want this president to have any power.

01:41:08.500 The far left Democrats and some of the moderates, I guess, as well, loved the Obama administration.

01:41:14.300 When Barack Obama said, I have a cell phone and a pen, they applauded him as someone that's going to get things done.

01:41:22.840 This do nothing Congress and he's going to get things done.

01:41:25.740 They are terrified, terrified that Donald Trump is going to do the same thing.

01:41:35.300 So they don't want somebody that's in power that they disagree with to do exactly the same thing they applauded Barack Obama for doing.

01:41:44.140 So let's go with that for a moment.

01:41:46.300 They're terrified about the power of this president.

01:41:48.780 Why would they empower this government with more of our tax dollars if we are already working at a twenty two trillion dollar deficit and climbing?

01:41:58.540 No end in sight from either party.

01:42:01.000 Why would we empower them further by letting them go deeper into our pockets?

01:42:07.300 The same tax cuts that Nancy Pelosi called crumbs by this president was a huge win for the American people under Obama.

01:42:15.400 Let me tell you where the tax cuts are coming from right now.

01:42:17.780 Spending this holiday season through the roof.

01:42:20.800 They're saying the biggest ever holiday travel, another record.

01:42:24.380 Well, part of that is because gas prices are low.

01:42:27.020 A gas price reduction is the closest thing that I can describe to every American as a tax cut.

01:42:34.580 And here's why.

01:42:35.740 I mean, it's a simple economics.

01:42:37.640 I'm a simple average person.

01:42:39.200 So everything's got to be reduced down to simple terms for me.

01:42:41.880 The average working family that has to watch every dollar in discretionary income along with their their their along with what their requirements are, what they have to spend their money on.

01:42:55.060 And so a family that is able to go out once a week.

01:43:01.160 A few times a month.

01:43:03.560 When there's a tax increase or in this case, let's say a huge increase in the price of gasoline that cuts into a family's budget.

01:43:10.920 I've been there.

01:43:11.700 You know, I am literally that guy that was driving around in a work truck with a five gallon bucket full of tools, make it a living.

01:43:20.100 I've had to make that decision on Thursday at a times in my life.

01:43:23.100 Do I buy lunch today?

01:43:24.420 Do I make sure I've got five bucks in my gas tank so I can get to work tomorrow to get my paycheck to start all over again next week?

01:43:30.760 I've been there.

01:43:31.860 I know what that life is like.

01:43:33.400 I know what it's like to be one blown tire away from losing a job as silly and as terrifying as that is for working families.

01:43:41.680 That's a reality.

01:43:42.960 So when gas prices go down, that's like found money.

01:43:48.860 So you go from 225 or whatever the average is for a gallon of gas in the country right now to 325.

01:43:56.480 That is cutting out people's night out.

01:43:59.380 But when you go down to those low numbers, now you're freeing up income for some people to spend money on going out, doing some special things for their families.

01:44:10.060 Now we can jump in the car and we can drive across the state to see family for Christmas or drive and go do something for the holidays.

01:44:17.880 That's a reality for a lot of families in this country.

01:44:20.520 So when you equate that to taxes in this country and you talk about a tax increase, everybody wants to pay attention to the wealthy business owner and say, oh, they can afford it.

01:44:31.000 Well, they're not going to afford it.

01:44:32.540 They're going to pass a tax increase on to the consumer.

01:44:35.660 They always have.

01:44:37.140 They always will.

01:44:40.300 The biggest analogy I've had was when Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid were controlling the last time she was Speaker of the House.

01:44:45.720 And they said they were going to close the loopholes on big oil and the liberals and the media applauded it like this was some big deal in America.

01:44:52.760 It was a great thing.

01:44:53.880 And I laughed.

01:44:55.800 First of all, every one of you listening to me that has a retirement account of 401k or otherwise, and you have a financial advisor or someone that invests that money for you, you're invested in the oil companies.

01:45:10.420 When you cost them billions, you cost your 401k money.

01:45:18.740 And all it equated to was an increase in gas prices because closing that tax loophole meant it cost more money to produce a gallon of gasoline, which they passed on to the consumer.

01:45:33.200 You didn't see them saying in what we're going to do is decrease the gasoline tax to offset.

01:45:40.780 We know that the oil companies are going to increase your the cost of a gallon of gasoline.

01:45:47.300 So we're going to cut the gas tax.

01:45:49.420 So in the end, the oil companies pay it on the front end.

01:45:52.180 They charge it in a gallon of gasoline, but you're not going to pay it on the other end.

01:45:55.480 They didn't do that.

01:45:56.480 As a matter of fact, with all the fuel efficiency standards in the country, with alternative fuel vehicles, they now want to charge you by the mile to drive on the freeway because they're not collecting the taxes they have before.

01:46:11.340 And none of us look at it that way.

01:46:12.960 So now you've got Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who, by the way, when Tom Perez, the head of the DNC, says she's the future of the Democratic Party, I would love to have a conversation with honest Democrats that wonder how that could possibly be.

01:46:27.960 She's a self-affirmed socialist and she knows nothing.

01:46:32.740 She called it the three chambers of government, not three branches of government.

01:46:36.800 And the three chambers of government, she said, were the House, the Senate and the White House.

01:46:41.080 The Supreme Court justices, hey, what about us?

01:46:44.220 You forget about us?

01:46:45.300 Are we the fourth chamber or have we been replaced?

01:46:49.420 She talked about being inaugurated, which doesn't happen.

01:46:54.100 They're sworn in.

01:46:55.400 She talked about signing pieces of legislation day one, which doesn't happen. 0.78

01:47:03.680 It is amazing.

01:47:06.020 The small number of people in her district that elected her, that she is going to be making decisions not only for her district, for the rest of the country.

01:47:14.680 But she is one of the people that think this spending on global warming, climate change, whatever you want to call it, this Green New Deal, which will immensely increase the size of the government and the power they have and the oversight they have over private industry, which is going to do nothing to solve any problem when it comes to climate change or anything else.

01:47:39.780 And an increase in bureaucracy to the very government that the liberals in this country detest because it's being held by the Republicans.

01:47:50.060 Well, everything is cyclical.

01:47:53.040 There is a pendulum that swings left and right in America, and it has my entire life.

01:47:58.020 The fallout from Nixon gave us Gerald Ford, that then gave us Jimmy Carter, that then gave us Ronald Reagan.

01:48:09.300 What happened with the Nixon presidency gave us Gerald Ford as president, which then gave us the very liberal and quite possibly the worst president of the 20th century, Jimmy Carter, for four years.

01:48:19.300 The four years of Jimmy Carter then gave us Ronald Reagan for eight years.

01:48:22.940 And we see the pendulum swing back and forth.

01:48:31.100 And yet no one articulates to the independents and the left leaning people in our country.

01:48:36.140 You continue to vote for increases in power by virtue of taxation and regulation of people in government to the very government that at some time you're going to detest because it's held by the Republicans.

01:48:47.260 Why would you get you can't give them that power when you're in power and then magically take it away when you're not.

01:48:54.520 When Harry Reid changed the rules of the Senate and invoked the nuclear option, which he at one time said would be the destruction of the Senate.

01:49:01.920 When he did that, Mitch McConnell said, you're going to regret this sooner rather than later.

01:49:07.280 He had no idea how quickly his prophecy was going to come true because of that rule change.

01:49:14.960 It now only takes a simple majority in the United States Senate to approve a Supreme Court nominee.

01:49:21.920 Brett Kavanaugh.

01:49:23.840 Had Harry Reid not done that.

01:49:26.500 It would have taken 60 votes to get Kavanaugh in.

01:49:29.620 And we never have the debacle we had because he never gets approved.

01:49:33.160 If Ruth Bader Ginsburg cannot continue on the court in the near future because of her illnesses and her age, there will be another Supreme Court nomination by this president. 0.74

01:49:47.940 And if it happens in the next two years.

01:49:51.920 This president will nominate somebody and only need a simple majority of Republicans to pass that nomination through.

01:49:58.020 Why? Because Harry Reid changed the rules.

01:50:04.460 No one articulates it that way.

01:50:06.200 No one says to the political left, you continue to empower a government that one day you're going to hate.

01:50:13.180 It doesn't make any sense to me.

01:50:17.780 Few things still to discuss before we close out the show today.

01:50:20.600 We're going to get to all of this before we close it out.

01:50:22.900 We got a few more minutes left.

01:50:23.980 My name is Mike Broomhead.

01:50:24.840 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

01:50:28.020 Hey, thanks for being here.

01:50:31.780 It's the Glenn Beck Program.

01:50:33.020 My name is Mike Broomhead.

01:50:33.920 In all week for Glenn.

01:50:34.940 Again, social media users.

01:50:36.460 I am on Twitter at Broomhead Show.

01:50:38.340 I hope you'll follow me there.

01:50:39.740 The Mike Broomhead Show fan page on Facebook.

01:50:41.640 And if you're an Instagram user, Mike Broomhead, all one word, is where you can find me.

01:50:46.280 Also, I guess I should shamelessly plug my book. 0.98

01:50:49.060 I have a book called If You're Going to Be Dumb, You Better Be Tough. 0.69

01:50:51.760 You can find it on Amazon. 0.52

01:50:53.660 It actually is done better than I expected.

01:50:55.460 I'm really proud of it.

01:50:56.260 So if you're looking for something, if you forgot to get somebody something for Christmas, you can always find the book on Amazon.

01:51:01.080 It's called If You're Going to Be Dumb, You Better Be Tough, which is something my mother has said to me my entire life.

01:51:06.160 And I never heeded it.

01:51:07.500 We've been talking about the size and scope of government, and most people distrust it.

01:51:14.040 The Republicans should be leading on messaging, and they don't.

01:51:17.680 They just do not.

01:51:19.740 The government waste.

01:51:21.100 Rand Paul puts out a list of where the government's wasting money.

01:51:24.620 There is enough waste and redundancy in government that we could reduce the deficit just by taking care of those issues.

01:51:30.680 But the problem is never solved because nobody holds their feet to the fire.

01:51:35.240 We continue to pick sides, which I'm guilty of as anybody else.

01:51:40.740 And then what we don't do is admit when our side is part of the blame.

01:51:47.720 I've got some close friends, as I mentioned before, that are in Congress.

01:51:51.000 I think the Freedom Caucus has done a great service to the House of Representatives, but their voice is muted many times.

01:51:59.240 We don't hold people accountable for getting things done.

01:52:01.920 It's the only place I've ever seen where we do this.

01:52:04.700 In sports, we love our teams like we do.

01:52:08.240 I equate sports to politics all the time.

01:52:10.560 You look at a professional football game.

01:52:13.740 I'm an Arizona Cardinals fan.

01:52:15.020 I live in Arizona, not having a good year.

01:52:17.320 But the owner of the Cardinals, Michael Bidwell, has done a great job with his team over the last decade of turning them into a winner.

01:52:23.580 And the fans have come with an expectation of winning.

01:52:25.820 And when it doesn't work out, changes.

01:52:27.820 I imagine there's going to be big changes on that team at the end of this year because they haven't put a winner on the field.

01:52:32.760 I imagine that there are going to be people in very high-level positions that will be switched out because there is an expectation in sports of success.

01:52:41.000 And if you're not going to succeed, no harm, no foul, but we're moving on.

01:52:46.460 You know, and the Philadelphia Eagles are a great example of that.

01:52:50.580 Years ago, their coach is legendary.

01:52:53.200 They're going to name streets after their coach.

01:52:55.440 They were stagnant.

01:52:56.640 They weren't winning, so they replaced him.

01:52:58.320 He went and he coached the Kansas City Chiefs, doing a great job there.

01:53:01.560 He's flourishing in Kansas City, but it was time for a change.

01:53:05.100 At the time, there was a time for a change in the Philadelphia Eagles.

01:53:07.800 They went on to win a Super Bowl.

01:53:09.060 That doesn't mean they didn't love the coach any less.

01:53:10.980 It was time for a change.

01:53:12.760 Here we are in American politics.

01:53:14.460 We dig in.

01:53:15.540 Congress is, what, about a 10% approval rating?

01:53:18.260 I mean, barely above 10%.

01:53:20.140 And yet, we continue to re-elect our representative because we like ours.

01:53:25.160 It's the other 434 that are terrible. 1.00

01:53:28.460 It doesn't make sense.

01:53:29.700 There are some times, and I've got good friends there.

01:53:34.480 There are times when changes have to be made because there are not things.

01:53:39.060 Send a message.

01:53:42.220 And we don't send the message.

01:53:45.020 We say government waste as if somehow no one has control over it.

01:53:49.500 Sure there is.

01:53:50.740 There are lots of people that have control over it.

01:53:52.920 If you're the boss, if you're the owner of a company, and there are departments within your control because you own the company that are wasting money, you end it, or those people get replaced.

01:54:04.520 That's what we do.

01:54:06.060 There is an expectation of success in sports.

01:54:09.280 And when that level is not met, they make changes, whether you like that person or not.

01:54:15.960 We had a coach, took us to a Super Bowl in the Arizona Cardinals.

01:54:19.500 A couple years later, the team was down.

01:54:21.020 He was replaced.

01:54:22.360 Doesn't mean we didn't love him.

01:54:23.300 We don't appreciate what he did.

01:54:24.700 The owners of the team made a decision that some changes had to be made.

01:54:27.820 It happens all the time because there is an expectation of excellence by the fans.

01:54:33.360 If you're not excellent, the fans will go away.

01:54:36.280 They vote with their wallets.

01:54:38.580 Well, the American people choose sides in American politics and do nothing to hold the people they even like accountable.

01:54:45.940 And I don't understand it.

01:54:49.400 Collectively, all of us, like football fans, no matter what team you're a fan of, we make sure we want excellence or we'll go somewhere else.

01:54:57.820 They showed that with the kneeling.

01:55:00.460 Attendance was down for a while.

01:55:02.000 We don't want the controversy.

01:55:03.260 No matter where you were on the issue, we want excellence on the field or we'll go somewhere else.

01:55:09.500 We should be doing the same thing.

01:55:12.220 Changes where necessary.

01:55:14.780 I'll be back tomorrow for Glenn.

01:55:16.600 So I hope you'll join me again on the show tomorrow.

01:55:18.840 Again, my name is Mike Broomhead.

01:55:20.020 Social media, at Broomhead Show on Twitter.

01:55:22.240 Mike Broomhead on Instagram or the Mike Broomhead Show fan page on Facebook.

01:55:25.940 Would love to hear from you.

01:55:26.860 I do manage my own accounts.

01:55:28.420 Would love to talk with you.

01:55:29.360 I'll be back tomorrow on the show.

01:55:31.140 I hope you'll join me then.

01:55:32.340 Looking forward to a happy new year.

01:55:33.480 I'll be in all week.

01:55:34.580 Have a great day, everybody.

01:55:36.360 God bless.

01:55:36.960 You're listening to Glenn Beck.
