00:00:30.000 It's coming along, I'm gonna save it for another month, and then perhaps another month after that, see how it gets, because I haven't saved it out for this long at any time in my life, I've always had a nice clean shave.
00:00:44.340 I will shave it though in the summer when I have photo shoots and need to look my very best, because you know it's more suited to my aesthetics to have a nice close shave.
00:00:54.140 But, all that aside, I want to elaborate on something that might interest most of you, and that is whether powerlifting can be utilized for our goals.
00:01:04.900 Which is to, first of all, be looking like Greek gods, looking like statues, and then martial strength.
00:01:14.320 I wanted to say functional strength, but that term has been so abused and degraded, so I won't use that, I'm gonna use martial strength, which is basically what you can utilize when shit hits the fan.
00:01:28.360 To keep it simple, you want to be able to utilize your whole body in a wide variety of movements, you do not just want to be strong in the deadlift, you also want to have pushing power, you can push somebody away from you, you want to have power in your legs, you can kick, you want to have power in your whole body, in your arms, you can punch, or when you clinch and wrestle, you want to be powerful there as well.
00:01:50.580 So, all these different things we have to look at. So, those two aspects, and then obviously being healthy and everything like that.
00:01:59.060 But, what I would say here is that I love powerlifting. I think everyone should find a good progression plan in the bench, deadlift, and squats.
00:02:08.240 But, it isn't enough. It is not enough for total strength, for martial strength, or for aesthetics.
00:02:15.740 Now, aesthetics, obviously, are determined also by genetics and your body fat percentage.
00:02:21.700 But, if you want to create a physique of harmony, the three big lifts aren't enough.
00:02:28.040 I would propose that you have at least some sort of weighted chin up, like chins, like that, and some sort of overhead press, so you target those muscles either way.
00:02:37.560 Like, sure, you will get delt work from the bench, no question about it at all.
00:02:42.280 You will get some lats from the bench and the deadlift as well, but not nearly enough.
00:02:47.140 And then, when you talk with powerlifters, they tend to be a bit degrading against other exercises as well, and that bothers me.
00:02:53.700 But, if you talk with a strongman, he will be a bit, you know, not as keen on powerlifting because they don't include any pushes above the head,

00:03:03.060 And, I mean, if you're looking at being fucking Atlas or being a fucking demigod of strength, pushing something above your head is one of the most satisfying feelings in the world.

00:03:24.100 Like, yeah, I think powerlifting is great for building strength and aesthetics, but it isn't enough for our purposes.

00:03:32.500 You need to be strong in the shoulders and lats as well.
00:03:34.720 And, obviously, arms you get from weighted chins a lot as well.
00:03:37.240 So, if you're out for optimal strength and optimal aesthetics, utilize powerlifting.
00:03:43.860 Train a lot like a powerlifter, but also include other exercises.
00:03:48.740 And, also, if you're a powerlifter and listen to this, be a bit more humble.
