00:00:54.140But, all that aside, I want to elaborate on something that might interest most of you, and that is whether powerlifting can be utilized for our goals.
00:01:04.900Which is to, first of all, be looking like Greek gods, looking like statues, and then martial strength.
00:01:14.320I wanted to say functional strength, but that term has been so abused and degraded, so I won't use that, I'm gonna use martial strength, which is basically what you can utilize when shit hits the fan.
00:01:28.360To keep it simple, you want to be able to utilize your whole body in a wide variety of movements, you do not just want to be strong in the deadlift, you also want to have pushing power, you can push somebody away from you, you want to have power in your legs, you can kick, you want to have power in your whole body, in your arms, you can punch, or when you clinch and wrestle, you want to be powerful there as well.
00:01:50.580So, all these different things we have to look at. So, those two aspects, and then obviously being healthy and everything like that.
00:01:59.060But, what I would say here is that I love powerlifting. I think everyone should find a good progression plan in the bench, deadlift, and squats.
00:02:08.240But, it isn't enough. It is not enough for total strength, for martial strength, or for aesthetics.
00:02:15.740Now, aesthetics, obviously, are determined also by genetics and your body fat percentage.
00:02:21.700But, if you want to create a physique of harmony, the three big lifts aren't enough.
00:02:28.040I would propose that you have at least some sort of weighted chin up, like chins, like that, and some sort of overhead press, so you target those muscles either way.
00:02:37.560Like, sure, you will get delt work from the bench, no question about it at all.
00:02:42.280You will get some lats from the bench and the deadlift as well, but not nearly enough.
00:02:47.140And then, when you talk with powerlifters, they tend to be a bit degrading against other exercises as well, and that bothers me.
00:02:53.700But, if you talk with a strongman, he will be a bit, you know, not as keen on powerlifting because they don't include any pushes above the head,

00:03:03.060And, I mean, if you're looking at being fucking Atlas or being a fucking demigod of strength, pushing something above your head is one of the most satisfying feelings in the world.
