00:00:00.400 Hello lads, this is a follow-up video to my podcast, my latest podcast named The Greatest Glory.
00:00:08.560 So I got a question from my man John from France.
00:00:12.400 He asked about my opinions on extreme sports, whether it's worth risking your life for.
00:00:19.560 Now, first and foremost, I definitely understand to 100% the yearn, yearn for glory,
00:00:28.300 the need for glory that pulls men up to the height of gods, to quote Dominic Venner.
00:00:34.180 I understand perfectly well these daring feats you see in extreme sports.
00:00:42.080 A while back I retweeted on Twitter a video of a surfer surfing an absolutely massive wave.
00:00:49.480 It looked extremely dangerous.
00:00:50.900 I looked at it and I felt a certain type of envy, but not envy per se, more a sense of admiration, a deep admiration.
00:01:02.320 I wrote it as well that this isn't something I could do because it's beyond my skill level, so I can only admire it.
00:01:08.360 I can only express my admiration for this.
00:01:11.260 I admire the path this man has taken.
00:01:14.880 And of course, speaking in purely athletic terms, I've chosen another path of martial arts and strength training and powerlifting, etc.
00:01:24.940 So, I still have chosen, you know, an active life like that.
00:01:31.220 And although I'm happy with my path I've taken, and of course, if we're talking about glory, as I mentioned in the podcast,
00:01:39.480 which you should definitely listen to, I recommend you to sign up to the podcast.
00:01:43.820 First link in the description box below.
00:01:45.940 When you have listened to the latest episode, you will know what my greatest glory and what my deepest desires are.
00:01:51.720 And of course, had I been given the option again, I wouldn't change a thing.
00:01:58.000 So, that being said, I still, I understand and I appreciate the need for glory, the yearn for glory,
00:02:05.940 that pushes these men and sometimes women to do these daring feats, such as surfing on a massive wave.
00:02:14.660 Now, the question came about as a result of a tragedy, actually, because there was a young French guy who died in a climbing accident.
00:02:25.880 Now, the question at hand then, is it worth risking your life for?
00:02:30.440 If you ask me and I say no, I'm not comfortable saying no, because then I might deprive someone of glory.
00:02:36.680 And believe you me, I am someone who perfectly understands the need, the yearn for glory.
00:02:44.480 And for certain guys, they take that path to attain personal glory.
00:02:50.600 I understand it perfectly well.
00:02:52.320 Then, on the other hand, if someone asks me, do I endorse it?
00:02:58.860 If someone asks me in the capacity of a brother, of a father or some sort of leader, I'm in a different position.
00:03:06.080 Because I, of course, it breaks my heart when I think about a young French guy.
00:03:11.440 Athletic, happy, healthy.
00:03:13.000 He could have had a family.
00:03:14.460 He had a family who will grieve his passing, etc.
00:03:18.440 And if I think about the greater goal at hand, which is, of course, to restore Western civilization, it is a keenly felt loss.
00:03:29.520 So, on one side, I want to say no.
00:03:32.460 But, on another side, I want to say, yes, of course, follow your heart's desires, which is to pursue that sense of glory.
00:03:41.860 Usually, when I make a video, I want to come to a conclusion.
00:03:45.240 I want to give a firm recommendation.
00:03:47.000 I want to say, this is exactly what I recommend.
00:03:50.160 But, in this case, I can't really say it.
00:03:53.000 Because I understand all too well the desire for glory.
00:03:57.220 And I also don't want to deprive someone of the chance for glory.
00:04:00.600 Because, ultimately, it's not for certain that death is involved.
00:04:06.640 But, at the same time, do I recommend risking your life for a brave climb or something like that?
00:04:13.980 But, hard to say.
00:04:16.600 A tough question.
00:04:17.700 So, I don't really have any straight answer.
00:04:19.600 But, if I had to give an answer, I would probably, yeah, say that you will forego a lot by risking these things.
00:04:29.740 And, ultimately, risking a lot for a greater goal than your own personal glory.
00:04:35.660 Yeah, it can be worth it.
00:04:36.860 But, it might not be as worth risking your life for only your own personal glory.
00:04:42.560 Even though, again, I understand it perfectly well.
00:04:44.720 Had I chosen a different path, you might have seen me riding atop a massive wave.
00:04:50.280 I don't know.
00:04:51.020 But, I do understand the yearn for it.
00:04:53.360 I do understand what pushes men and women to do that type of activities.
00:04:58.220 So, I'm not saying that, you know, it's completely pointless to do it.
00:05:02.640 Because, again, you have my full understanding if you want to do that.
00:05:06.840 But, at the same time, there might be more to life as well.
00:05:10.460 So, anyway, that being said, I hope it was somewhat insightful, at least.
00:05:14.900 I'm not sure if it was, since I didn't really give any firm recommendation.
00:05:18.340 But, I thought to respond to the question, at least, give some additional perspectives.
00:05:22.820 And, of course, if you haven't already listened to the podcast episode, I strongly recommend you to do so.
