00:00:00.000 Thank you.
00:00:30.000 Greetings, my esteemed audience, I am checking in from good old Spain, I am checking in
00:00:37.920 from the very heart of Iberia, so you can see me there, I am looking down this epic view
00:00:44.260 and in the distance you can actually see Madrid.
00:00:47.980 So in this video I will share some observations and thoughts from Spain, but first we have
00:00:53.980 a message from the sponsor of the video.
00:00:56.640 I am sponsoring myself as is my custom, so we have a new release, the shoulder bag of
00:01:01.920 the ages, extra large.
00:01:04.120 So it's an aesthetically pleasing shoulder bag you can use for a wide variety of purposes,
00:01:11.300 so you can check it out, first link in the description box below.
00:01:14.640 The greatest organic cotton underwear are also back in stock, so do get yourself a three
00:01:20.840 pack of those and you will be better for it.
00:01:23.640 And now we are going back to the video at hand, there you see me, I am meditating, I am meditating
00:01:29.720 upon the wisdom, the esoteric wisdom of the Visigoths, so these parts are also old Visigothic
00:01:37.160 domains.
00:01:38.160 We will return to the topic in just a bit.
00:01:41.360 Now also a shout out to my lovely and beautiful wife, also an artistic soul.
00:01:46.760 So the nice footage you see, it's her work.
00:01:51.740 Same thing with many of the nice photos of me you might see, so shout out to her.
00:01:58.520 Now you see me here, I am climbing this little rock formation.
00:02:02.520 I simply have to do it, since it looked so inviting and I have played so much Assassin's
00:02:07.760 Creed over in my days, so I simply have to do it and I have to pose as well.
00:02:13.320 I have something called Physique Autism, which means that I have to pose, I can't help myself,
00:02:19.120 so you will have to endure my narcissistic flexing in my videos.
00:02:25.400 So anyway, whenever I see stuff like this, I simply have to do it.
00:02:29.200 There as well, I have to do some dips to get some extra pumps, so I look juicy in these
00:02:34.320 video sequences.
00:02:36.280 So always good to get some extra pumps.
00:02:39.460 And there we have our Celtiberian Hut, or I titled it a Witch's Hut, so quite a nice addition
00:02:45.980 in the landscape.
00:02:47.620 And there you see the beautiful vistas to be enjoyed up here in the mountain ranges north
00:02:53.260 of Madrid.
00:02:54.900 It's very inspiring for sensitive poets.
00:02:58.220 You can also spot some eagles up here.
00:03:01.780 Then we also stumbled upon a fountain, and it was supremely enjoyable to splash some water
00:03:07.720 in the face and drink from it on a hot day.
00:03:10.380 Now moving on to the glorious city of Segovia.
00:03:13.860 I hope you enjoyed the newsletter we sent out from Segovia.
00:03:18.320 The newsletter can be subscribed to at legiogloria.com.
00:03:21.760 I check in every once in a while with some nice stories and of course updates regarding
00:03:26.700 new releases and the like.
00:03:28.640 So Segovia, as I noted in the newsletter, was first in Celtiberian hands, as was all of the
00:03:35.780 Iberian Peninsula.
00:03:37.580 And then came the Romans to conquer it all.
00:03:41.160 And they built this absolutely magnificent aqueduct that we're admiring.
00:03:45.520 And you see, I am touching it there as well to imbue myself with their power and thumos.
00:03:52.400 Then, of course, as Rome fell, the Western Roman Empire, and it was conquered by the glorious
00:03:58.340 Visigoths.
00:03:59.780 And the city was in Gothic hands until, alas, the great misfortune that befell Iberia, the
00:04:07.220 Muslim conquest of almost all of the peninsula.
00:04:11.820 So the city languished under Moorish rule for a few centuries, until it was reconquered by
00:04:18.560 the valiant forces of Alfonso VI.
00:04:22.460 So there you can see a sensitive videographer trying to get some nice shots of the aqueduct.
00:04:29.180 And you see quite a few birds, they've also come to admire its grandeur.
00:04:34.120 So the aqueduct, definitely worth a visit if you are in this part of Spain, Segovia.
00:04:39.500 It also has a few other nice sights.
00:04:43.240 This beautiful cathedral, to name one.
00:04:46.300 It has some Gothic elements.
00:04:47.800 And when we say Gothic, we're not referring to the Germanic tribe of the Goths, so the
00:04:52.820 Visigoths, but it's rather an architectural style popular during the Middle Ages.
00:04:57.740 So you can see some gargoyles there.
00:04:59.620 I tried to get them in the shot there, and that's a typical element you see in Gothic
00:05:04.640 cathedrals.
00:05:06.500 And there, of course, you see the interior of the cathedral.
00:05:10.180 And as you know, I am not a Christian, but I can still appreciate the great beauty on display
00:05:15.300 these medieval cathedrals.
00:05:19.260 Next stop, we have the AlcΓ‘zar of Segovia, the castle of Segovia.
00:05:23.760 So it's a medieval fortress that has hosted many a Spanish king and queen over the centuries.
00:05:30.580 And when I say Spanish, it's worth keeping in mind that Spain wasn't a unified country
00:05:35.700 for most of the Middle Ages.
00:05:37.840 That came later, and that's why you still have some separatism going on in Spain today,
00:05:42.920 in Basque country and in Catalonia.
00:05:45.300 So when I say a Spanish king, it could be a Castilian king, for example.
00:05:50.040 Speaking of which, there before you, you see portraits of kings that ruled during the Middle
00:05:55.960 Ages, and many of them were of course involved in the Reconquista.
00:06:00.640 So if you feel blackpilled about the situation in Europe at the moment, then I encourage you
00:06:05.740 to take inspiration from the events of the Reconquista.
00:06:10.060 So no matter how dark it might look, you can always come back stronger, you can always come
00:06:15.020 back with a reconquest to take back your lands.
00:06:18.360 On the same topic, it might be worth pointing out that the Visigothic Kingdom, we could say
00:06:23.660 that it lasted from the early 400s to the early 700s.
00:06:28.860 What to keep in mind also is that the kings and nobility of medieval Spain, they viewed
00:06:33.820 themselves as the successors of the Visigoths, so a more reasonable view of it would be to
00:06:39.680 say that the Visigothic spirit, it didn't disappear, but it re-emerged during the Reconquista.
00:06:46.520 And of course, the Visigothic component is still present in Spain today.
00:06:50.920 You can see it in certain names, for example.
00:06:53.520 And now we need to fast forward time to the age of Napoleon, a monument erected in honour
00:06:59.400 of two Spanish artillery officers who fought against the French during the uprising of 1808.
00:07:07.320 Next stop is the city of Burgos, where we went to pay homage to the spirit of El Cid, El
00:07:13.520 Cid Campeador, who has been a hero of mine since my boyhood.
00:07:18.740 You know, as a sensitive young boy, I encountered this legend in Age of Empires 2, and of course
00:07:24.940 it made a great impression on me.
00:07:27.980 So his story, the story of a man of power and adventure, a man of Thumos, it can definitely
00:07:34.920 inspire us in this day and age.
00:07:37.440 Something else we can learn from the story of El Cid is that the Reconquista was not black
00:07:42.740 and white.
00:07:43.740 It was more a case of total war.
00:07:46.160 So I've said it before, I'll say it again.
00:07:48.560 You should model your worldview on total war games so you understand the complexity of geopolitics.
00:07:55.540 So most conflicts, they are not black and white.
00:07:58.700 You have many different factions.
00:08:00.500 So you had in medieval Spain, in early medieval Spain, you had different factions on the Muslim
00:08:05.940 side and you had different factions on the Christian side.
00:08:08.820 And sometimes they could ally with each other, and some other times they would fight against
00:08:13.880 each other.
00:08:14.880 And I'm only speculating now, but I would guess at least that the Reconquista would have concluded
00:08:20.340 a lot sooner if the Christian kingdoms, if they didn't spend so much time and energy
00:08:25.460 infighting.
00:08:26.780 So there are some insights you can bear with you in this day and age as well.
00:08:30.660 So stop the infighting on X, I implore you, my dear allies.
00:08:35.180 Now that all being said, here we have the majestic cathedral of Burgos.
00:08:40.980 And in here, as you will see in a bit, here lies the great El Cid and his wife Jimena.
00:08:47.380 So a lot of beauty to be found in this cathedral as well, definitely worth visiting if you are
00:08:53.520 in these parts of Spain.
00:08:55.940 And here we see the resting place of El Cid.
00:08:59.500 So you can go there, you can pray to his spirit, you can pray that he imbues you with Thumos
00:09:05.620 to give you energy in your own quest.
00:09:08.080 That is at least what I did.
00:09:10.380 Next stop, Euskadi, Basque Country.
00:09:13.740 And now you have two parts of Basque Country, you have a Spanish part and a French part.
00:09:17.900 We spent most of our time in the Spanish part, especially San Sebastian, which is a very
00:09:23.780 beautiful city indeed.
00:09:25.480 And of course, the mighty Atlantic contributes to said beauty as well.
00:09:31.100 So Basque Country, it has a quite different feel than Castile, the rest of Spain, I suppose.
00:09:37.720 And as I mentioned, they do have a separatist movement here.
00:09:41.400 I'm not going to go into detail here.
00:09:44.000 I have no patience, no interest whatsoever for any political question aside from re-migration.
00:09:51.640 Now, Basque Country, it is said to have a Celtic culture.
00:09:55.080 But to keep in mind here is that the term Celtic can be quite confusing.
00:09:59.240 So perhaps you think of Ireland when you hear the term Celtic.
00:10:02.360 But comparing the two, the Basques and the Irish, they are nothing alike.
00:10:07.000 They don't look like each other and they don't act like each other.
00:10:10.360 So it can be quite misleading to label them both as being of the same culture.
00:10:16.120 But of course, similarities exist and can be interesting to delve deeper into.
00:10:22.120 Anyway, a note on the landscape as well.
00:10:24.520 So of course, it looks and feels like the Atlantic, but it also has a touch of the Mediterranean as well.
00:10:30.840 So it's a quite special feel to it.
00:10:33.640 And as I said, it's a supremely beautiful place.
00:10:36.600 It doesn't quite have the magic like a place such as Ireland would have, for example, or part of Sweden or Germany.
00:10:44.040 So it doesn't quite have the magic, but it's still a beautiful place.
00:10:47.240 So it's well worth a visit, San Sebastian and the rest of the Basque Country.
00:10:53.160 We also visited the French part of the Basque Country.
00:10:56.280 So Bayonne and there we stumbled upon a mighty cathedral.
00:11:00.920 So one of the nicest, most beautiful cathedrals I've been in.
00:11:04.680 The interior was, yeah, was something else.
00:11:07.960 So I suppose you saw my newsletter from there as well and saw the pictures on social media.
00:11:12.920 So I will check in from some more places here in good old Spain.
00:11:17.800 Thank you for watching and thank you for your support.
00:11:20.520 Do check out all the links in the description box below.
00:11:35.080 XOXO, boom!
